- 0:09Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to The Right Time, a Wave original.
- 0:13Speaker 2: My name is Bomani Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
- 0:15Speaker 2: get your podcasts. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:19Speaker 2: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:22Speaker 2: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:25Speaker 2: a hater. It's Thursdays with Dominique Foxworth.
- 0:29Speaker 3: What's going on, man?
- 0:30Speaker 4: What's up, man?
- 0:31Speaker 5: There's lots of reasons to hate you right now. One
- 0:34Speaker 5: really big reason.
- 0:36Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? I apologize to Emmy. She
- 0:39Speaker 3: in the back. But right now, Larry got to take priority.
- 0:42Speaker 2: The NBA dropped the Larry O'Brien trophy off with us
- 0:45Speaker 2: right now.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Dominique, it come in a Tiffany bag.
- 0:48Speaker 2: And what you can't see is that they got all
- 0:51Speaker 2: the teams that have been champions. Their names is down
- 0:54Speaker 2: here in the trophy, like going around.
- 0:57Speaker 4: That's pretty dope.
- 0:58Speaker 2: What.
- 0:59Speaker 5: I feel like it's super cool to have it on
- 1:02Speaker 5: your desk, take a picture, holding to Larry. But like
- 1:07Speaker 5: you at Harlem, I feel like you got to take
- 1:09Speaker 5: it outside.
- 1:10Speaker 2: You know, that's a great idea. Two points on that.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Number one, Larry is heavy. Number two, Larry is not mine.
- 1:21Speaker 2: And number three, most important, the man that brought Larry
- 1:25Speaker 2: is sitting.
- 1:25Speaker 3: On the other side of that wall. To make sure
- 1:28Speaker 3: nobody does anything silly with Larry. But I can see
- 1:31Speaker 3: myself right here.
- 1:32Speaker 2: And then Emmy over there with Larry. Like, it's a
- 1:35Speaker 2: great shot that we got here with Larry. But let
- 1:37Speaker 2: everybody know that it's serious in the field right here.
- 1:40Speaker 2: The right time is a championship operation.
- 1:44Speaker 4: I love it.
- 1:44Speaker 5: Congratulations to the right time on being home to the
- 1:48Speaker 5: Larry for a little bit.
- 1:50Speaker 4: It's awesome, man. It's pretty cool. We saw it last year.
- 1:52Speaker 4: It's pretty heavy, too.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I was about to say, shout out to Dominique's Decency
- 1:54Speaker 2: for not mentioning the day it actually had it the
- 1:56Speaker 2: year before. But if I had waited just a little
- 1:58Speaker 2: while longer, it was going to come up.
- 2:00Speaker 4: I just said, I said saw it. I said we
- 2:03Speaker 4: saw it.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Oh, I wasn't even going to be mad, by the way.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, no. That's some sideways
- 2:09Speaker 4: hating shit. To be like, a man is happy about something. Oh,
- 2:12Speaker 4: I've been doing that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:14Speaker 3: When you look bad, like.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I want you to guess who I sent a picture
- 2:17Speaker 2: of this to whose response was, yo, what the hell?
- 2:22Speaker 4: I mean, the one and only. It's got to be Joe, right?
- 2:26Speaker 3: Well, the first text was, what the hell? The next
- 2:28Speaker 3: one was, yo, what the fuck? Now, I think the yo,
- 2:30Speaker 3: what the fuck might have been.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Tied to something that came after it, but it's difficult
- 2:33Speaker 2: to tell from the timing of the text.
- 2:35Speaker 5: To be fair, that's not necessarily hate.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Fair. You could just be like, oh, what the fuck?
- 2:42Speaker 4: You could be happy for somebody. What the hell?
- 2:45Speaker 3: You're right.
- 2:46Speaker 4: I see you play. That could be the same thing.
- 2:48Speaker 3: You're right.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I would like to take this opportunity right now to
- 2:51Speaker 2: apologize to Joel Anderson for usually I'm 100% positive that
- 2:55Speaker 2: he's hating. This time it was merely 75% and that
- 2:57Speaker 2: is outside the confidence interval.
- 3:00Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Like, that's not.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I couldn't put that in a publishable paper at 75%.
- 3:07Speaker 4: I wonder, what is the confidence interval for Joe Hayden?
- 3:10Speaker 2: I feel like it's... It's a steady state for that
- 3:14Speaker 2: man in a lot of ways, right? But now he
- 3:17Speaker 2: out in L.A., living it up right now. We're going
- 3:20Speaker 2: to start this again. You know, I try to avoid
- 3:23Speaker 2: getting too caught up in the media stuff for a
- 3:25Speaker 2: number of reasons.
- 3:26Speaker 4: However.
- 3:27Speaker 2: That boy Draymond stepped in it on Wednesday night, didn't he?
- 3:30Speaker 3: Did you see that?
- 3:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I did.
- 3:32Speaker 5: I mean, it's on the heels of the River stuff, too,
- 3:36Speaker 5: where it's like.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't know. I.
- 3:40Speaker 5: I hate to break it down to wins and losses,
- 3:42Speaker 5: but I didn't feel like it went well for Draymond.
- 3:44Speaker 4: That first one. The second one certainly didn't.
- 3:47Speaker 2: No, this is what happened with Draymond. For people who
- 3:49Speaker 2: don't know, he wound up going in it, getting in
- 3:52Speaker 2: some sort of online back and forth with Austin Rivers.
- 3:55Speaker 3: And he really went hard at Austin Rivers. Basically, dude.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Discredited the man's whole career and said the biggest bailout
- 4:01Speaker 2: of all time was when Austin's daddy gave him a
- 4:03Speaker 2: $ 42 million contract. Draymond said he averaged the same number
- 4:06Speaker 2: of points in high school that Austin Rivers did, da-da-da,
- 4:10Speaker 2: and all of this stuff.
- 4:11Speaker 3: And look, you can say whatever you want about Austin
- 4:13Speaker 3: Rivers as an NBA player.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Austin Rivers as a high school player is a completely
- 4:19Speaker 2: different discussion.
- 4:21Speaker 5: I saw his response. He's like, I was the number
- 4:23Speaker 5: one player in the country. That ain't charity. They don't
- 4:27Speaker 5: just give that out. I assume that you got.
- 4:29Speaker 4: A good name.
- 4:30Speaker 5: It's going to get more attention. It's going to bump
- 4:32Speaker 5: you up the list, but you still got to be nice.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I need you to understand something. And I've not met
- 4:38Speaker 2: Austin Rivers. I don't know how things have progressed truly
- 4:41Speaker 2: as he has become an adult. I just know the
- 4:44Speaker 2: ways that he affected people, shall we say, as a youngster.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Okay?
- 4:53Speaker 3: It is difficult to make Austin Rivers more likable than
- 4:57Speaker 3: you are. That's not easy work. Okay?
- 5:01Speaker 2: Draymond Green managed to do that in his back.
- 5:04Speaker 3: And forth with Austin Rivers. And you'll have to look
- 5:07Speaker 3: it up.
- 5:07Speaker 2: But the thing that happened with Charles inside the NBA,
- 5:10Speaker 2: I thought was interesting. Because Charles is making the point that, look, man,
- 5:13Speaker 2: Teams that are old don't win. You don't win a
- 5:15Speaker 2: lot when you're 37, 38 years old. And he was
- 5:17Speaker 2: talking about this in the context of the Warriors. Like, look,
- 5:19Speaker 2: you guys are old. This isn't sports for young people.
- 5:23Speaker 2: This isn't how it goes. And Draymond out of nowhere
- 5:26Speaker 2: came with the goal is to not look like you
- 5:30Speaker 2: did when you played for Houston. And I think I
- 5:36Speaker 2: know what happened. Curious if you read this the way
- 5:38Speaker 2: that I did. Draymond's feelings were a little bit hurt
- 5:41Speaker 2: or he was a little salty, right? In his head,
- 5:45Speaker 2: it was time to tell a ha-ha.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it.
- 5:49Speaker 2: And when it came out, he was DMX. Told a joke,
- 5:54Speaker 2: and nobody laughed.
- 5:57Speaker 3: And you know why? Because it wasn't funny. It was
- 5:59Speaker 3: just mean.
- 6:00Speaker 2: And what Draymond, I don't think, gets is when he
- 6:04Speaker 2: picks on people, it's mean. And nobody likes mean.
- 6:10Speaker 3: And Charles... is.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Not the most sympathetic figure, but what Charles is not
- 6:15Speaker 2: is mean. The women in San Antonio are willing to
- 6:19Speaker 2: yuck it up with Charles about him calling.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Him big and everything else.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Because somehow Charles can do that and not be mean.
- 6:27Speaker 3: This just landed as mean.
- 6:30Speaker 5: So that somehow that you just threw out there is
- 6:34Speaker 5: the part that is interesting to me. Because, like, I
- 6:39Speaker 5: watched it and I thought, had Charles laughed or had
- 6:43Speaker 5: someone around there had the reaction that I think Draymond intended,
- 6:46Speaker 5: I don't think it would have gone over that way.
- 6:48Speaker 5: And that's the part that's interesting to me is I
- 6:50Speaker 5: don't understand. And maybe it's about the person in the delivery,
- 6:55Speaker 5: but I don't understand that. why that was so like,
- 6:59Speaker 5: that felt like it was out of bounds because it
- 7:02Speaker 5: wasn't really like they talk trash about each other all
- 7:05Speaker 5: the time. Like that's part of the nature of that show.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Why in that moment.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Was Charles like, nah, like I'm not going to, they
- 7:14Speaker 4: just were serious.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I will, I will give you a reason why Charles
- 7:17Speaker 2: did not respond in that way because what he said
- 7:21Speaker 2: was wrong. Yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Holy crap.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Totally, factually inaccurate.
- 7:27Speaker 2: If there were pictures to be had of an old
- 7:31Speaker 2: and fat Charles Barkley in a Rockets uniform, we would
- 7:35Speaker 2: all have the same picture in mind because you would
- 7:38Speaker 2: see it all the time. And you know how I
- 7:39Speaker 2: know you would see it all the time? Because inside
- 7:41Speaker 2: the NBA.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Yeah, we show it all the time.
- 7:43Speaker 3: We put it out all the time.
- 7:44Speaker 2: That picture doesn't exist because Charles wasn't decrepit with Houston.
- 7:48Speaker 2: It wasn't any of the things that Draymond described. And Charles,
- 7:53Speaker 2: in that time in Houston, did one of the most
- 7:54Speaker 2: admirable things ever. Remember, he tore his quadriceps tendon in
- 7:57Speaker 2: a game in Philadelphia. And he went through crazy rehab
- 8:04Speaker 2: just to come back for the last game of that
- 8:06Speaker 2: year because he refused to be carried off.
- 8:08Speaker 3: In his last game.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Right?
- 8:10Speaker 2: Like this one, it just, well, two things. I think
- 8:13Speaker 2: that's part of it is that it was wrong. But
- 8:14Speaker 2: then the other part was, hey, man, they don't fuck
- 8:17Speaker 2: with you like that.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the big one. That's the big one, because
- 8:20Speaker 4: I think that he.
- 8:21Speaker 5: It could have been interpreted as play like you played, which, like, yeah,
- 8:25Speaker 5: Charles wasn't bad at that point, but he wasn't the
- 8:28Speaker 5: same version of himself that we, like, remember. He was
- 8:32Speaker 5: lower on the pecking order. There were a lot of
- 8:34Speaker 5: other people ahead of him. He tore his quad, as
- 8:36Speaker 5: you mentioned, in Philly, like that. All that stuff... Or
- 8:41Speaker 5: was it Phoenix?
- 8:41Speaker 3: It was.
- 8:42Speaker 4: Anyway.
- 8:42Speaker 3: It was in Philly while he played for the Rockets.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Okay. So, anyway, the....
- 8:48Speaker 5: The bad part about this whole thing is I actually
- 8:50Speaker 5: thought that Draymond's response to the question was interesting and
- 8:54Speaker 5: eye-opening and more honest than you expect from a player
- 8:57Speaker 5: at that point. But it's all obscured by the fact
- 8:59Speaker 5: that we were locked in on the fact that this.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Part went, like, over poorly. But I think you're right.
- 9:05Speaker 4: The bottom line is we don't play like that with you.
- 9:09Speaker 5: If Kenny would have said that, I feel like, because
- 9:11Speaker 5: they go back and forth with each other about the
- 9:14Speaker 5: worst things, which I all, like, Friend groups, male friend
- 9:18Speaker 5: groups in particular.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Like, yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Well, let me ask this.
- 9:23Speaker 2: How would that have gone over had he said something
- 9:27Speaker 2: about nobody wants to look like Shaq in a Celtics uniform?
- 9:30Speaker 4: Hilarious.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Whoa, whoa.
- 9:33Speaker 2: If we can say whatever we want about Charles Barkley,
- 9:36Speaker 2: the one thing that we cannot say is that man
- 9:39Speaker 2: is unwilling to laugh at himself.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure.
- 9:42Speaker 2: We will say a lot of things about Shaquille O'Neal.
- 9:46Speaker 2: What we will not say is how willing he is
- 9:49Speaker 2: to laugh at himself. Shaq would have come back at
- 9:52Speaker 2: him with some of the meanest shit you've ever heard
- 9:55Speaker 2: in your life.
- 9:56Speaker 4: He would have.
- 9:56Speaker 5: So Shaq is funny because he'll make fun of himself.
- 10:00Speaker 5: which is different than laughing when you make fun of him.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Yes.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Relatable content. Relatable content.
- 10:06Speaker 5: Shaq will be more than happy to make fun of
- 10:09Speaker 5: himself and Like, he put up his feet on the
- 10:12Speaker 5: show last night. He took a picture of it. He's
- 10:15Speaker 5: doing all those things. He'll fall down on purpose. He'll
- 10:17Speaker 5: do all these ridiculous things so that you can laugh
- 10:19Speaker 5: at him on his terms. But you're definitely not going
- 10:22Speaker 5: to laugh at him outside of his terms. But they
- 10:23Speaker 5: all make fun of each other.
- 10:25Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't want to defend Draymond.
- 10:27Speaker 2: I think Shaq would say the same thing that I say.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And I think in part what Charles is probably thinking
- 10:33Speaker 2: on this one. Oh, I laugh when things are funny.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Yeah. And Charles did.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:38Speaker 4: Charles did the best. That wasn't funny.
- 10:40Speaker 5: Yeah, Charles did the best possible thing, though, because I
- 10:43Speaker 5: think my reaction would have been like, I'm going to
- 10:45Speaker 5: fire back.
- 10:45Speaker 4: We're going to go. I'm going to fire back with
- 10:47Speaker 4: a joke or something like that. And he did.
- 10:50Speaker 5: He just let it sit there, and it made it
- 10:52Speaker 5: look worse and uncomfortable, and Draymond just had to power through.
- 10:56Speaker 2: And Charles is a great teammate. Like, the decision to
- 10:59Speaker 2: be like, nope, sit in this one. And then when
- 11:02Speaker 2: Kenny was like, what does that look like?
- 11:06Speaker 4: Kenny was dirty.
- 11:07Speaker 2: And his response was, I saw it or something to
- 11:11Speaker 2: that effect. And it was just like, nah, man, this
- 11:14Speaker 2: ain't playing. Like it's a wild week for Draymond in
- 11:17Speaker 2: this regard. I actually think Draymond got a bad rap
- 11:20Speaker 2: about the stuff he was saying about Steve Kerr or
- 11:22Speaker 2: for people who didn't see it. Draymond made the point that, well,
- 11:26Speaker 2: it was a multi-tiered point and social producing rage bait
- 11:31Speaker 2: jumped up, right?
- 11:32Speaker 3: And what Draymond said was.
- 11:37Speaker 5: For what my show did to you a couple days ago.
- 11:40Speaker 5: I'm very sorry. I need to keep a closer eye.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Because all the shit that I've said on this show,
- 11:46Speaker 5: you never hung me out in the dry for clicks.
- 11:48Speaker 4: We hung your ass out in the dry for clicks.
- 11:50Speaker 4: And I'm very sorry.
- 11:52Speaker 3: I appreciate that.
- 11:53Speaker 4: Because it did happen. It did happen.
- 11:55Speaker 3: But it's like, okay, we moved. But I thought this
- 11:57Speaker 3: was interesting, though, with ESPN.
- 11:57Speaker 2: I'm going to say something that you don't have to
- 11:59Speaker 2: speak on when it gets to this.
- 12:00Speaker 3: But.
- 12:01Speaker 2: And Draymond said about Kerr, he was like, basically, this
- 12:06Speaker 2: has been great, right? Like we've won all these championships.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Kerr helped make my career in a lot of ways.
- 12:10Speaker 2: But he was like, but in some ways, I also
- 12:12Speaker 2: feel like he hindered my career because he felt like,
- 12:16Speaker 2: just like, by the way, every player in the NBA
- 12:18Speaker 2: feels that they could have been a better offensive player.
- 12:22Speaker 2: on another team or in a different situation. And Draymond,
- 12:25Speaker 2: unlike most people, has evidence. When Kerr wasn't here, I
- 12:29Speaker 2: was shooting 40% from three and was killing it. And
- 12:32Speaker 2: our team won 73 games at the end of that season.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I think they were like 39 and four. or something
- 12:38Speaker 2: like that in the time that Kerr was not there.
- 12:40Speaker 2: And so I didn't think he was saying that Steve
- 12:42Speaker 2: Kerr messed his career up. He was saying, but I
- 12:45Speaker 2: do think that I had a better offensive game than
- 12:48Speaker 2: Kerr gave me credit for having. And in that way, yeah,
- 12:51Speaker 2: I do wonder what it would have been like. I
- 12:53Speaker 2: thought that that was perfectly reasonable and that he got
- 12:56Speaker 2: hung out to dry on that one by people who
- 12:58Speaker 2: aggregated it.
- 12:59Speaker 3: But this one right here, nah, dog, everybody was just like, ew.
- 13:05Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, I think you're doing.
- 13:07Speaker 5: I feel like you're being generous in the way that
- 13:09Speaker 5: you are like contextualizing the original statement because it was,
- 13:16Speaker 5: and I don't remember the exact wording. Maybe I should
- 13:18Speaker 5: look that up to be completely accurate. But I think
- 13:20Speaker 5: what people had a hard time accepting from him is
- 13:25Speaker 5: for someone of his talent level, his career turned out
- 13:33Speaker 5: on the fringe, the high fringe of, of the bell curve.
- 13:38Speaker 5: And so for him to look back at his career
- 13:42Speaker 5: and imply, or not even imply, I guess the implication
- 13:47Speaker 5: is that his career could have been better. And what
- 13:51Speaker 5: he's saying is like, I could have been more effective offensively,
- 13:54Speaker 5: but it's hard for me to imagine a situation where
- 13:59Speaker 5: his career, given his talent, turns.
- 14:01Speaker 4: Out any better. Yeah.
- 14:02Speaker 2: So I think it's interesting because Draymond bought Tom Izzo
- 14:07Speaker 2: a Rolex.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Yeah. Right?
- 14:09Speaker 2: And look, Draymond Green was an excellent, excellent college basketball player,
- 14:13Speaker 2: but nobody saw it coming.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Nobody saw it coming.
- 14:16Speaker 2: The NBA, nobody saw it coming the way that it
- 14:19Speaker 2: ultimately turned out. But the thing to remember, and we
- 14:22Speaker 2: can't forget, is Kerr only started Draymond after David Lee
- 14:26Speaker 2: got hurt.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:27Speaker 3: That was never the plan.
- 14:29Speaker 2: And so I think for Draymond, and I know this
- 14:32Speaker 2: feeling when you feel like you're with somebody that you realize,
- 14:35Speaker 2: or you feel like.
- 14:36Speaker 3: You know, this cat never actually, like, really believed it.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:41Speaker 3: All right?
- 14:41Speaker 2: Or at least not in the way, or Draymond's probably
- 14:43Speaker 2: looking at it like, he don't believe it like there's
- 14:46Speaker 2: other cats that's out here that believed it. That there's
- 14:48Speaker 2: other people I could have dealt with that would have
- 14:50Speaker 2: believed it in a much different way.
- 14:52Speaker 3: And I guess, I don't know.
- 14:54Speaker 2: I don't think it's unreasonable, especially knowing that lead, for
- 14:58Speaker 2: that guy to be like, but I think somewhere else
- 15:00Speaker 2: I could have scored 17 a game.
- 15:01Speaker 3: They all think that.
- 15:02Speaker 5: Yeah, I think they, of course they do. And that's
- 15:05Speaker 5: like part of the reason why they're there. But I
- 15:07Speaker 5: think that that's the thing with Draymond. And I think
- 15:09Speaker 5: that's part of what makes him interesting is like he,
- 15:13Speaker 5: I don't even know if it's that he doesn't have
- 15:15Speaker 5: a filter, but he doesn't have like another voice in
- 15:19Speaker 5: there to like bounce these things off of and polish
- 15:23Speaker 5: it up. Because I think you're saying something different than
- 15:26Speaker 5: what it got experienced as. You're saying like, I could
- 15:29Speaker 5: have put up better numbers. what I think people are
- 15:33Speaker 5: hearing and then to name Steve Kerr specifically, not just say, yeah,
- 15:37Speaker 5: I imagine in a different situation, I could have put
- 15:41Speaker 5: up better numbers. He's saying I could have had a
- 15:45Speaker 5: better career if Steve Kerr.
- 15:48Speaker 4: Wouldn't have hindered me.
- 15:50Speaker 5: And that's the part that I think is hard is like, no, sir,
- 15:54Speaker 5: I believe that there is not a bet.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Like there is not a better career.
- 15:58Speaker 5: And of course, I understand him feeling like they don't
- 16:01Speaker 5: believe in my offense that much. But they believe in
- 16:05Speaker 5: you as core to this because of your defense and
- 16:08Speaker 5: your ability to be an offensive fulcrum.
- 16:11Speaker 4: They moved on from a lot of people.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Yes, they did.
- 16:13Speaker 4: And not you.
- 16:14Speaker 3: That was Austin Rivers' point.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Yeah. They moved on from a lot of people and
- 16:18Speaker 4: not you. You punch people in.
- 16:20Speaker 5: The locker room and you don't shoot as well as Klay.
- 16:23Speaker 5: I know Klay got hurt, but, like, they moved on
- 16:25Speaker 5: from a lot of these pieces. You are remaining. So, like,
- 16:27Speaker 5: that's a level of confidence. And I know that it's
- 16:29Speaker 5: not confidence in this offensive game necessarily, but we all know, like.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Kevin Durant. You was pissing off Kevin Durant.
- 16:39Speaker 5: And I imagine that everyone knew that it was going
- 16:41Speaker 5: to be one of y'all got to go. And they
- 16:43Speaker 5: was like, we're going to stick by you.
- 16:45Speaker 4: So that, I think I.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Hold on. Let me, let me read the quote to people.
- 16:48Speaker 3: This is the money quote.
- 16:50Speaker 2: As much as he's done for me in basketball, a
- 16:52Speaker 2: part of me thinks he's hindered me in my career
- 16:54Speaker 2: and what I could have become. You know, when I
- 16:56Speaker 2: think of who I was offensively as a player and
- 16:58Speaker 2: who I became, I think.
- 16:59Speaker 3: A part of that is due to him. I don't
- 17:01Speaker 3: hold that against him.
- 17:03Speaker 5: Right.
- 17:04Speaker 3: I think that's a.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Fair factual statement that maybe, but I think the, I
- 17:07Speaker 2: think what you're saying and I think it's fair is
- 17:10Speaker 2: maybe somewhere else they would have let him shoot more
- 17:12Speaker 2: or somewhere else.
- 17:13Speaker 3: He never would have got off to Oak.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:16Speaker 5: He's, he's, he's like a point center. That's too small.
- 17:22Speaker 5: Like a short point center. Like it's a unique situation.
- 17:26Speaker 5: Like it's not to denigrate him. Like he is, incredible
- 17:28Speaker 5: you can't really compare him to anybody he's like a
- 17:31Speaker 5: incredibly unique basketball talent in a unique situation in time
- 17:37Speaker 5: in the NBA it worked out it just like that
- 17:39Speaker 5: that's the part that is hard to accept it's like
- 17:43Speaker 5: he hindered you you're a hall of famer bro you
- 17:46Speaker 5: weren't hindered.
- 17:46Speaker 2: But you know what it is the other part too
- 17:48Speaker 2: about everybody having a podcast man words mean things yeah
- 17:53Speaker 2: and he picked a bad one yeah Right.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Like that's that's part of the gift of being able
- 17:57Speaker 3: to do this.
- 17:57Speaker 2: And I think that people, especially when they talk about
- 17:59Speaker 2: guys going into media, we have this. The idea is
- 18:02Speaker 2: that you get the outspoken guys.
- 18:04Speaker 4: Right.
- 18:05Speaker 2: And they'll all be good on TV or a guy
- 18:07Speaker 2: that gives a good press conference. They'll all be good
- 18:10Speaker 2: on TV, TV or whatever it is. It's a different world.
- 18:13Speaker 2: And especially with the.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Podcast stuff now that is so easy for people to hear,
- 18:16Speaker 3: record it.
- 18:17Speaker 2: And disseminate it. hindered is not the right word to
- 18:22Speaker 2: use under those circumstances.
- 18:24Speaker 3: And maybe you're right.
- 18:24Speaker 2: I'm a little generous in the sense that I look
- 18:26Speaker 2: at it like, hey, he probably meant a different word.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 5: But I, yeah, I ultimately, I come back to, it's like, yeah,
- 18:35Speaker 5: he's right. Another situation, he could have scored more points.
- 18:39Speaker 5: And it's also another situation. David Lee's day is healthy.
- 18:43Speaker 5: He never gets off the bench. Yes. But like there,
- 18:46Speaker 5: to me, at least there's no, I have a really
- 18:50Speaker 5: hard time. If Draymond's career is simulated 100 times, this
- 18:56Speaker 5: is 92.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I don't think anybody has done more with what they
- 19:01Speaker 2: had than Draymond Green.
- 19:03Speaker 4: How could his career be any better?
- 19:05Speaker 5: I'm being generous in saying that there might be eight
- 19:08Speaker 5: simulations where this turns out better. That's just like if
- 19:11Speaker 5: he hits a game winner in the finals or something.
- 19:15Speaker 4: It's one play swinging this. I don't imagine that.
- 19:20Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 19:21Speaker 4: That's true of everybody.
- 19:22Speaker 5: There's so much luck in the success that anybody has,
- 19:25Speaker 5: and you can look at it, but it's easier to
- 19:27Speaker 5: discount that luck when you have more traditionally obvious talents
- 19:32Speaker 5: for the field that you're in that his just aren't obvious.
- 19:36Speaker 3: How much money do you think this man has made
- 19:37Speaker 3: in the NBA?
- 19:41Speaker 4: A quarter? Over a quarter billion, right?
- 19:44Speaker 3: Close to a quarter. It's at 239.
- 19:46Speaker 4: Ooh-wee. I mean, go over that. Oh, this is country.
- 19:50Speaker 4: value or how much he's actually made?
- 19:51Speaker 2: Contract value through the 2026 season.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Okay. So that means, yeah, he going to go over it?
- 19:58Speaker 2: Yep.
- 19:59Speaker 5: He got 27.6 left.
- 20:03Speaker 4: He gonna go over it, then he gonna do it.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Him and Tobias Harris. Tobias Harris amazing. Tobias Harris done
- 20:09Speaker 2: made something like $ 300 million that ain't never made first,
- 20:11Speaker 2: second or third team. I think he got a vote
- 20:14Speaker 2: one year.
- 20:15Speaker 3: A vote. One year.
- 20:18Speaker 5: I used to like when I was at the football union,
- 20:22Speaker 5: before I went over to the basketball union, I remember
- 20:25Speaker 5: like every time basketball off season would happen, we would
- 20:29Speaker 5: have the blues at the union because all the football
- 20:32Speaker 5: players would be pointing to those numbers and be like,
- 20:35Speaker 5: our sport is bigger, this, that, and the other.
- 20:37Speaker 4: And it's like, boys, the amount of money.
- 20:42Speaker 5: The gap is so big now that I don't even
- 20:44Speaker 5: think football players get irritated by it.
- 20:47Speaker 4: You just can't. It's only a few of them. It's
- 20:50Speaker 4: a lot of money.
- 20:51Speaker 5: And when we had that social media argument about who's
- 20:56Speaker 5: better athletes, football players or basketball players, it's like, I'm
- 20:59Speaker 5: a football player. And if you've ever been courtside at
- 21:03Speaker 5: an NBA game, it's them.
- 21:05Speaker 2: I remember when we talked about this on here and
- 21:07Speaker 2: your brother were not happy with you for not holding
- 21:09Speaker 2: the line.
- 21:11Speaker 4: I ain't going to lie. I ain't going to lie.
- 21:14Speaker 5: Like, they 6'7 and doing it, and they got the
- 21:17Speaker 5: hand-eye coordination to hit half-court shots at like a 50%
- 21:22Speaker 5: rate if you're not guarding them.
- 21:23Speaker 4: And that's the boys who can't shoot. Yes. It's like,
- 21:28Speaker 4: if you've ever been courtside at an NBA game, Yeah,
- 21:31Speaker 4: you would know better.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Yeah, but let me tell you something that's interesting, because
- 21:36Speaker 2: I talked about the social media rage, but you can
- 21:38Speaker 2: find out, I did a video, well, I did an
- 21:40Speaker 2: interview with my buddy, Ethan Strauss, on his podcast, and
- 21:43Speaker 2: I talked about the conflicting incentives of social media producers
- 21:47Speaker 2: and the talent that they deal with, because their game
- 21:49Speaker 2: is to get engagement, and engagement is generated by getting
- 21:51Speaker 2: people riled up, which is often counter to the aims
- 21:55Speaker 2: of the host. And then, of course, they clip that
- 21:58Speaker 2: and put it on the internet to be provocative for
- 22:00Speaker 2: the people.
- 22:01Speaker 3: In a very similar way.
- 22:02Speaker 2: It was ironic, it was humorous, but I admit at
- 22:05Speaker 2: first I was like, here these motherfuckers go. But anyway,
- 22:09Speaker 2: SportsCenter's account, after they saw this discussion had become a thing,
- 22:13Speaker 2: the SportsCenter account clipped it and was like, it got
- 22:15Speaker 2: awkward with Draymond. and Charles Barkley. And it may have
- 22:19Speaker 2: had googly eyes or whatever it was. And I was like, see, see, see,
- 22:22Speaker 2: that's the shit I'm talking about right there.
- 22:25Speaker 3: This is your talent. You are either making your.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Talent look like an asshole or you are co-signing this
- 22:30Speaker 2: erroneous thing.
- 22:31Speaker 3: About Charles, but we gonna get the people charged up.
- 22:34Speaker 2: And I do want to do this right fast because
- 22:36Speaker 2: it does bother me sometimes when people denigrate what Charles
- 22:40Speaker 2: is because this quickly became a Draymond versus Charles. It
- 22:43Speaker 2: didn't have to be that in terms of what kinds
- 22:44Speaker 2: of players there were They were in everything else, right?
- 22:47Speaker 2: But Charles, in that last three years that he played
- 22:51Speaker 2: with Houston, or I think it's four years, but he
- 22:54Speaker 2: put up advanced statistics that were in line with what
- 22:58Speaker 2: he did in Phoenix, right? Like he was an excellent
- 23:02Speaker 2: player all the way until the end. And he's always
- 23:06Speaker 2: been perhaps the most unselfish dominant scorer in the history
- 23:09Speaker 2: of the game. And he dialed it back in that year.
- 23:11Speaker 2: The problem was they was all old. They was all old.
- 23:15Speaker 2: If John Stockton doesn't hit that shot in game six,
- 23:18Speaker 2: maybe the Rockets got a chance. Actually, my favorite Charles
- 23:20Speaker 2: Barkley with the Rockets moment ever is John Stockton, old
- 23:24Speaker 2: dirty ass, tried to set a screen on Charles once
- 23:26Speaker 2: that he had enough of and Charles elbowed him in
- 23:28Speaker 2: the chest.
- 23:29Speaker 3: And they asked him what he was doing.
- 23:31Speaker 2: And he said, I was trying to dislocate his shoulder
- 23:34Speaker 2: or break his rib.
- 23:35Speaker 3: And everybody laughed. And he said, I'm not joking.
- 23:42Speaker 4: Excellent, man.
- 23:44Speaker 5: I think that's so the Charles Barkley has like created.
- 23:49Speaker 5: And I think that a lot of this is from
- 23:50Speaker 5: Charles Barkley. The idea that the outspoken rash guy, I
- 23:54Speaker 5: think you can draw a straight line from Charles Barkley and,
- 23:58Speaker 5: to the belief that Draymond is going to be great
- 24:01Speaker 5: in media.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:02Speaker 5: Because it's like brash, outspoken, willing to say just about anything,
- 24:06Speaker 5: but there's a, a humility and creativity that Charles Barkley
- 24:12Speaker 5: had that I think it was hard to, to, to know.
- 24:15Speaker 5: And maybe I was too young to, to witness it
- 24:18Speaker 5: or understand it. And media was less like ubiquitous then.
- 24:21Speaker 5: So you didn't see as much of the players, but like,
- 24:24Speaker 5: I think people draw the wrong conclusion. It's like loud,
- 24:27Speaker 5: brash guy that offended the sensibilities of the mainstream.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Oh, he's going to be great on TV.
- 24:34Speaker 5: And it's like, nah, part of the problem with the
- 24:36Speaker 5: Draymond experience, not that it's bad, he's good, but it's that,
- 24:41Speaker 5: to your point about the social media stuff, they clip
- 24:46Speaker 5: them up in order to get engagement or to upset people.
- 24:50Speaker 5: And it's oftentimes torn out of context. Nah, not with Draymond.
- 24:56Speaker 4: He just talk like that.
- 25:00Speaker 5: Draymond is just a perpetual rage baiter, but he's not baiting.
- 25:05Speaker 5: He just be raging people of.
- 25:07Speaker 4: How he feels.
- 25:08Speaker 5: And it's like, I don't know that people actually want that.
- 25:13Speaker 2: No, people don't want mean. Shaq's problem is that he
- 25:17Speaker 2: can be very mean. When it comes up, somebody steps
- 25:21Speaker 2: on him the other way, he can.
- 25:22Speaker 3: Be very mean. And Draymond, so, Dominic, you and I.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Talk about this, and I don't want to do this
- 25:27Speaker 2: to talk about myself, but something that people don't grasp
- 25:30Speaker 2: about me, the reason my thing works is I'm not mean.
- 25:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Like, I think that people, for whatever reason, believe that
- 25:35Speaker 2: I'm mean, but you have no evidence, if you've ever
- 25:37Speaker 2: been around me, that I'm mean to people. Because it
- 25:40Speaker 2: just don't work. If you're not mean, you can get away.
- 25:43Speaker 3: With so many things.
- 25:44Speaker 2: You are one of the most decidedly un-mean people that
- 25:46Speaker 2: I've ever met. You could stand to be a little
- 25:48Speaker 2: bit meaner, to.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Be perfectly honest.
- 25:50Speaker 4: Fair point, fair point.
- 25:52Speaker 3: But Draymond is mean.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Yeah, but you are.
- 25:54Speaker 5: It's not only that you're not mean, you're kind, but
- 25:57Speaker 5: I think it doesn't come through.
- 25:58Speaker 4: And I think we could point to... You are less.
- 26:02Speaker 5: concerned with to me at least it seems like you're
- 26:06Speaker 5: less concerned with the way that people um interpret you
- 26:13Speaker 5: i'm putting it wrong but i think in part of
- 26:16Speaker 5: in part of the way i'm is comparing it to
- 26:18Speaker 5: myself in part of the way that i behave publicly
- 26:21Speaker 5: i am partially some portion of my brain is trying
- 26:25Speaker 5: to analyze how it's going to be received yes and
- 26:28Speaker 5: concerned about it being received the wrong way. I think
- 26:32Speaker 5: whatever part that is for you is just less engaged
- 26:35Speaker 5: where it's like, I'm going to do this. And I
- 26:36Speaker 5: think the wire clip that you had is like an
- 26:40Speaker 5: example of it where it's like, they saying dumb shit.
- 26:43Speaker 5: I'm going to tell them they saying dumb shit and
- 26:45Speaker 5: then unpack their ass right here. And I think a
- 26:49Speaker 5: lot of people see that and some people see themselves.
- 26:52Speaker 3: As the unpack-y.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Right.
- 26:55Speaker 5: Some people see ourselves as the unpack-er, and some people
- 26:58Speaker 5: see themselves as the unpack-y. And then they see that,
- 27:01Speaker 5: which it's not the first time you've done something like that.
- 27:03Speaker 5: You do it on the beginning of your career with
- 27:06Speaker 5: a lot of Twitter, unpacking motherfuckers.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Yes.
- 27:09Speaker 5: And I think a lot of people are like, he's mean.
- 27:12Speaker 5: Because they're like, man, I'm going to say something dumb
- 27:14Speaker 5: and he's going to rip me up. Whereas I see
- 27:16Speaker 5: it like, yeah.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Get them dummies. Yeah, get them.
- 27:21Speaker 3: I can be mean to people.
- 27:22Speaker 4: I like him. He getting them dummies. That's how I feel.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Yeah, like I think I can be mean to people
- 27:27Speaker 2: who I think are mean to me, right? And I
- 27:29Speaker 2: guess maybe that's the thing with Draymond is his threshold
- 27:32Speaker 2: for what he thinks that somebody has been mean to
- 27:34Speaker 2: him is very, very low. Like I would love to
- 27:37Speaker 2: know formatively speaking, like his house or whatever it is,
- 27:41Speaker 2: because he might got one of them houses where that's
- 27:43Speaker 2: how they all talk to each other. Like, you know,
- 27:45Speaker 2: when you meet those people and then you go to
- 27:46Speaker 2: their house, you'd be like, damn, I can't even tell
- 27:48Speaker 2: y'all like each other. And then they get out in
- 27:52Speaker 2: the wild and they like everybody else is just sensitive.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Now, I always tell people, this is a very important point.
- 27:58Speaker 2: If on one side is everybody and on the other
- 28:01Speaker 2: side is you, chances are you are the person that
- 28:04Speaker 2: needs to move toward the norm. It's not always the case,
- 28:07Speaker 2: but it's entirely possible that that's the space. And so, yeah,
- 28:12Speaker 2: when you get a lot of these guys, you can
- 28:14Speaker 2: be solemn, you can be stern, you can be all
- 28:16Speaker 2: these things. The one thing you can't be on television
- 28:20Speaker 2: is mean, especially not to, like, People love Charles.
- 28:26Speaker 3: We let Charles get away with a lot of craziness.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Yes.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Because we love Charles.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Charles, yeah. Remember when Charles had that show with Gale? Oh,
- 28:35Speaker 4: I do. Charles was going a political run.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Brother, I have a Charles story that's so insane that
- 28:41Speaker 2: I'd never tell it on the air because I love
- 28:43Speaker 2: Charles too much to do this to him. But the
- 28:45Speaker 2: fact that nobody did him in for it is like, oh,
- 28:48Speaker 2: we just made a decision that Charles gets to play
- 28:51Speaker 2: by complete. Look, that first year of Inside the NBA,
- 28:56Speaker 2: Nothing has ever been like it. I could not believe
- 28:58Speaker 2: the things that man was saying. Like he actually reeled
- 29:00Speaker 2: it in after year one. I could not believe it.
- 29:03Speaker 2: But then on top of it, the thing with Charles
- 29:04Speaker 2: was they would run practical jokes on Charles on television
- 29:10Speaker 2: that he.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Had no idea were coming. I wish, I wish you
- 29:14Speaker 3: would do that to me.
- 29:16Speaker 4: I wish.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Like, and when you go down there and do their shows,
- 29:21Speaker 2: you gotta be ready because the culture has been set
- 29:23Speaker 2: by the fact that we can do these things to Charles. Like,
- 29:27Speaker 2: it requires, I think this is what also comes down
- 29:29Speaker 2: to on those things. It requires a measure of trust. Like,
- 29:32Speaker 2: when I used to do shows with Dan and them,
- 29:34Speaker 2: I didn't trust them like that, right? Them jokes ain't
- 29:36Speaker 2: feel gentle. Them jokes did not, like, it was kind
- 29:38Speaker 2: of like, so what do you want? so what you
- 29:40Speaker 2: trying to say right like that's it when it's trust
- 29:43Speaker 2: it doesn't go to the what you trying to say
- 29:45Speaker 2: part draymond has no trust from anybody on.
- 29:49Speaker 5: This stuff that's interesting the trust thing is i am
- 29:52Speaker 5: consider that but i think you're right it's like they
- 29:54Speaker 5: are not trying to I've had, obviously I've done a
- 29:57Speaker 5: bunch on TV and I've had a lot of really
- 29:59Speaker 5: good interactions and experiences and like, I'll do a good
- 30:03Speaker 5: amount of like making fun of people, but there is
- 30:06Speaker 5: like some relationship and there's some times where it's like,
- 30:09Speaker 5: it doesn't, I've been had in a long time, but
- 30:11Speaker 5: there've been a few times where it didn't go over well,
- 30:12Speaker 5: where I felt like I needed to apologize to somebody
- 30:14Speaker 5: because like, I, I recognize that we entertain and we
- 30:17Speaker 5: having a good time, but like, I think where it
- 30:20Speaker 5: comes from, the reason the need for apology, at least
- 30:22Speaker 5: from my perspective was because, It was mean and it
- 30:27Speaker 5: was clear that we didn't have that relationship, right? We
- 30:30Speaker 5: don't actually have this relationship.
- 30:31Speaker 3: To do this.
- 30:32Speaker 5: And also where it happens is when it's not reciprocated,
- 30:36Speaker 5: when they don't have that, I don't want to say ability,
- 30:39Speaker 5: but like that nature, they didn't grow up in that environment,
- 30:42Speaker 5: they aren't comfortable with it.
- 30:43Speaker 4: It ain't fun when.
- 30:45Speaker 5: When one side got all the good jokes and the
- 30:47Speaker 5: other side is just back there looking beat upon.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Well, you also got to recognize the weight of who
- 30:52Speaker 3: you are, right? Like there's certain.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Ways that I can't talk to people because of how
- 30:56Speaker 2: things land because of who I am within the ecosystem, right?
- 30:59Speaker 2: Like you and I have literally, and we've been doing
- 31:01Speaker 2: this now for a decade in various forms and fashions.
- 31:05Speaker 3: We have never raised our voices.
- 31:07Speaker 4: At each other.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Like not even a little bit, right? Like there's a disagreement.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Hold up, let me see. Like we have a level
- 31:12Speaker 3: of trust that is built through iteration.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I've done TV shows with people. and done radio shows
- 31:19Speaker 2: with people where the trust just wasn't there. And people
- 31:22Speaker 2: do not trust Draymond. That's what it comes from, punching
- 31:24Speaker 2: people in the face and all this other stuff. Or
- 31:26Speaker 2: the thing with Kerr is people don't trust him. Like,
- 31:29Speaker 2: I will see sometimes when something goes over in a
- 31:31Speaker 2: way that I don't intend online, and people's response will be, hey, man,
- 31:34Speaker 2: I've been listening to him for a long time. I
- 31:36Speaker 2: know what it is that he's saying right there. And
- 31:38Speaker 2: Draymond has zero trust, zero trust. Speaking of trust, there's
- 31:42Speaker 2: somebody outside who has been trusting me with this trophy.
- 31:45Speaker 2: And so I am going to bring this trophy back
- 31:48Speaker 2: to him. But first, I'm gonna give you one of these.
- 31:51Speaker 3: I hugged a tree this weekend, Dominique. It was so amazing.
- 31:53Speaker 3: I was out with my club and we was, and
- 31:56Speaker 3: they were like, yo, you gotta hug the tree.
- 31:57Speaker 2: And I was like, I ain't gotta do shit. And
- 31:59Speaker 2: they was like, nah, you gotta hug the tree. And
- 32:01Speaker 2: I was like, okay.
- 32:02Speaker 3: And you know, when you loosen up and get into
- 32:04Speaker 3: hugging the tree, I kind of see the point.
- 32:06Speaker 2: But I saw my homie, Brad, He was there with
- 32:09Speaker 2: his wife and she got him in the tree hugging.
- 32:12Speaker 3: And man, he was hugging a big old tree.
- 32:13Speaker 2: That motherfucker was out here all the way like this
- 32:15Speaker 2: from sea to shot to sea hugging that tree.
- 32:18Speaker 3: It was the funniest thing I'd ever seen. And I
- 32:20Speaker 3: was like, damn. But he looked very happy hugging that tree.
- 32:23Speaker 4: That's a literal thing? I thought tree hugging was just like.
- 32:26Speaker 2: No, I thought it was too, but I was out
- 32:28Speaker 2: there with some old woo-woo motherfuckers, man.
- 32:29Speaker 3: They was all hugging. They were like, yo, you gonna
- 32:31Speaker 3: hug the tree?
- 32:32Speaker 2: Like, they were saying, are you gonna hug the tree
- 32:34Speaker 2: like you're not gonna get some water?
- 32:37Speaker 3: Like, it was the thing, but in absence of the tree,
- 32:40Speaker 3: I'm gonna hug Larry a little bit. You know what
- 32:42Speaker 3: I'm saying?
- 32:43Speaker 4: See you, Larry.
- 32:44Speaker 3: You can get that picture in there. We got the teams.
- 32:47Speaker 4: All around.
- 32:48Speaker 3: It came in a Tiffany bag. I think I already
- 32:50Speaker 3: said all those things.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Did it come in a big box too, right?
- 32:53Speaker 3: A giant box. A giant box with wheels. Did you
- 32:59Speaker 3: see that story?
- 33:00Speaker 2: I'm going to say this right fast before we break.
- 33:01Speaker 2: About the guy who had to check his Oscar. This
- 33:05Speaker 2: guy won an Oscar for best documentary and TSA made
- 33:07Speaker 2: him check it because they said the Oscar could be
- 33:09Speaker 2: a weapon and then they lost it.
- 33:12Speaker 3: It was eventually found.
- 33:13Speaker 4: That's nuts.
- 33:15Speaker 3: And look, they're not wrong.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Now, I would say if we found out that somebody
- 33:20Speaker 2: hijacked a plane because they beat the pilot over the
- 33:22Speaker 2: head with an Oscar, that would be some wild shit, right?
- 33:25Speaker 3: But, you know.
- 33:27Speaker 4: I assume, like, that's weird. I mean, because it's blunt.
- 33:30Speaker 5: It's not like Emmy, the wings, I feel like, are sharp. Like,
- 33:34Speaker 5: a blunt weapon is weird. I could bring a dumbbell.
- 33:37Speaker 5: They wouldn't tell me that was a wig.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Yes, they would. Really?
- 33:40Speaker 4: Really.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Man, I tried to travel once with a workout system
- 33:44Speaker 2: of sorts, and it had a bar.
- 33:46Speaker 4: Oh, and they was like, nah.
- 33:47Speaker 3: No, they was like, you can check it and throw
- 33:48Speaker 3: it away.
- 33:50Speaker 4: I respect it. I mean, I might, yeah. I love TSA.
- 33:55Speaker 4: It never fails. So I get the most love.
- 33:59Speaker 3: That's true. That is our room. Those are people. You
- 34:03Speaker 3: know what I'm saying?

- 36:31Speaker 2: are back with Dominique Foxworth. You told me you ain't really,
- 36:34Speaker 2: you had never really been like super hip to Ted Turner.
- 36:37Speaker 4: I mean, I was always aware of him. Like, yeah,
- 36:40Speaker 4: he was.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Yeah, but not in like a particular way.
- 36:42Speaker 4: Nah, nah, nah, nah.
- 36:44Speaker 3: So Ted, Ted Turner passed away, I guess on Wednesday,
- 36:48Speaker 3: or at least we got news on Wednesday. Ted owned
- 36:51Speaker 3: the Braves.
- 36:52Speaker 2: So that's always been, that was always the thing for
- 36:54Speaker 2: me is that Ted Turner owned the Braves and he
- 36:56Speaker 2: owned the Hawks when I used to do that dumb shit.
- 36:59Speaker 3: And so.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Ted Turner is interesting in that he goes back to
- 37:04Speaker 2: a time where rich people were interesting and kind of fun.
- 37:07Speaker 2: And by the way, he consistently said and did the
- 37:10Speaker 2: wrong thing in so many ways, right? Like Ted, have
- 37:13Speaker 2: you seen the thing where they were talking about the
- 37:16Speaker 2: Pope and Ted Turner told a Polack joke?
- 37:19Speaker 4: Oh gosh.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Yeah, he was like, you know, it was a Polish
- 37:22Speaker 2: mind detector and pointed at his foot.
- 37:25Speaker 3: He was talking about the Pope.
- 37:29Speaker 4: Oh gosh.
- 37:30Speaker 5: Ted is like, it sounds like at least, I don't
- 37:32Speaker 5: know his upbringing, but by how he used to comport
- 37:36Speaker 5: himself It sounded like he was self-made.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Well, let me give you a hint on that. It's
- 37:41Speaker 2: very interesting. So Ted's father owned a billboard company.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Right.
- 37:45Speaker 4: He painted the... Yeah.
- 37:47Speaker 2: And the billboard company became kind of the basis for
- 37:49Speaker 2: everything else. But this is the story that will tell
- 37:52Speaker 2: you everything. And this is from Spencer Hall and Holly
- 37:56Speaker 2: Anderson's newsletter, Channel 6. I cannot recommend that you do
- 37:59Speaker 2: this enough. I don't know who writes what at any
- 38:02Speaker 2: given point in time. So we'll say it's Spencer and Holly.
- 38:05Speaker 2: This is the lead to what he had on Ted
- 38:06Speaker 2: Turner that I swear if if if they did not
- 38:10Speaker 2: have this already on deck, this is another.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Wow. You amazing people. OK, this is the first two paragraphs.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Ted Turner kept the gun his father killed himself with
- 38:19Speaker 2: in his office desk. Sometimes during negotiations heading the wrong way,
- 38:24Speaker 2: he would reportedly take it out and spin the barrels
- 38:28Speaker 2: as he held it against his head and say, now,
- 38:30Speaker 2: I don't really like the way this is going right now.
- 38:34Speaker 3: At this point, usually, the negotiations would pivot in favor.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Of Ted and the gun would find its way back
- 38:40Speaker 2: into the drawer. This is obviously an obituary for an
- 38:44Speaker 2: insane person. In Ted Turner's case, insanity meant something very specific,
- 38:49Speaker 2: believing in his heart and soul that he could be
- 38:51Speaker 2: in two places at once all the time.
- 38:55Speaker 5: That's incredible tidbit, incredible writing, and also a reminder that
- 39:02Speaker 5: there's a thin line between it is there's a thin
- 39:05Speaker 5: line man there is a thin line all like innovation
- 39:09Speaker 5: and amazingness and progress happens at the fringes of society
- 39:14Speaker 5: and with fringe people but all the amazing and surprising
- 39:18Speaker 5: negative stuff that also comes from them same motherfuckers yes.
- 39:22Speaker 2: It does so ted's game and everything was to find
- 39:26Speaker 2: low undervalue assets like that's what channel 17 17 was
- 39:30Speaker 2: that turned into TBS, for example, and then eventually became CNN.
- 39:34Speaker 2: And that is that is the most world changing and
- 39:37Speaker 2: very few people in media have ever changed the world
- 39:39Speaker 2: themselves quite like Ted Turner did.
- 39:42Speaker 3: With cnn and it looked.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Cnn started i want to say in 1980 or 1981.
- 39:46Speaker 3: But it really really really bore fruit.
- 39:49Speaker 2: In 91 when the gulf war came when everybody else
- 39:52Speaker 2: is going off the air and they showing the war
- 39:54Speaker 2: the whole way because he has the 24-hour news station
- 39:58Speaker 2: a station by the way where he had video prepared
- 40:00Speaker 2: in case the world ended to run singing with a
- 40:04Speaker 2: band playing a hymn I will give you another great
- 40:07Speaker 2: Ted Turner story. Later in life, Turner would attempt to
- 40:10Speaker 2: solve quantum issues in his personal life by installing a
- 40:13Speaker 2: rotation of four girlfriends. Each got a week on the
- 40:16Speaker 2: calendar per month, which Turner thought was overly fussy, but
- 40:19Speaker 2: still the fairest arrangement. Now, when Turner was married to
- 40:23Speaker 2: Jane Fonda and keep in mind that when he was,
- 40:25Speaker 2: we'll call it courting Jane Fonda was while he was
- 40:28Speaker 2: doing the Goodwill Games. And he was supposed to go
- 40:30Speaker 2: to the Goodwill Games. But for the first time, he
- 40:33Speaker 2: felt like he had a chance to, shall we say,
- 40:35Speaker 2: put the hay in the barn. And so he called
- 40:37Speaker 2: the Goodwill Games people and told them, no, he would
- 40:39Speaker 2: not be making it there because he would be with
- 40:41Speaker 2: Jane Fonda. But Craig Sager could take his place. And
- 40:45Speaker 2: Craig Sager did. Ted Turner also. personally gave a billion
- 40:49Speaker 2: dollars to the united nations when the united states itself
- 40:53Speaker 2: wasn't giving money to the united nations right like uh
- 40:57Speaker 2: in this also spencer makes a good point a line
- 40:58Speaker 2: that jesse jackson had is that ted was insensitive but
- 41:02Speaker 2: generally fair and that's what it was like he was
- 41:05Speaker 2: that white man i talk about this all the time
- 41:07Speaker 2: growing up in some for real south the white man
- 41:09Speaker 2: that say the crazy stuff is sometimes a white man
- 41:12Speaker 2: you need.
- 41:14Speaker 5: You, this is having not grown up in the South
- 41:17Speaker 5: and spent a little bit of time down there, enough
- 41:20Speaker 5: time to reaffirm stereotypes and caricatures of the people down
- 41:27Speaker 5: there that I had pre-existing. It sounds crazy, but like
- 41:31Speaker 5: you mentioned, we've been working together for more than a
- 41:33Speaker 5: decade now. And it's sad for me to say that
- 41:36Speaker 5: I was in my, I guess, mid-30s around then, or
- 41:39Speaker 5: early 30s. It was you who was like, hey, why
- 41:44Speaker 5: don't you take another look? You didn't say it specifically,
- 41:49Speaker 5: but like take another look at the people that you
- 41:52Speaker 5: think got your back and the people that you think don't.
- 41:56Speaker 5: And I think a lot of this is, obviously it
- 41:59Speaker 5: gets difficult when you are like policing people's words and
- 42:04Speaker 5: that's why I said it seemed like Ted Turner the
- 42:06Speaker 5: way he behaves is like he was self-made because he
- 42:08Speaker 5: don't know how to act and talk in polite society
- 42:12Speaker 5: and he never has cared to but that's the I
- 42:14Speaker 5: mean it's a reminder I think for us all it's
- 42:16Speaker 5: like yeah And just a word here and there is
- 42:20Speaker 5: the substances is different and understand not to say that
- 42:23Speaker 5: anybody is good or bad or whatever.
- 42:25Speaker 4: It's just like jump to these conclusions. Yeah, it's meandering.
- 42:29Speaker 5: But I've come to realize that some of the people
- 42:31Speaker 5: who say all the right things that profess to be
- 42:34Speaker 5: on my side. Much worse for me than the people
- 42:36Speaker 5: who say the wrong things and openly put themselves on
- 42:40Speaker 5: the other side.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Yep. Every now and then Ted gets you on some talk.
- 42:44Speaker 3: I can't believe you did that, man. I can't believe
- 42:45Speaker 3: you did that. Other things Ted did that people can't believe.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Ted at one point named himself the manager of the
- 42:50Speaker 2: Atlanta Braves. It only worked for one game before the
- 42:52Speaker 2: commissioner told him that they would take the team from
- 42:54Speaker 2: him if he would do something silly like that. Another
- 42:57Speaker 2: great Ted story is they had a pitcher. I think
- 42:59Speaker 2: his name was Andy Messermith. Messermith or Messermith.
- 43:02Speaker 4: Either way.
- 43:03Speaker 2: His number was 17 or at some point his number
- 43:05Speaker 2: became 17.
- 43:07Speaker 3: And Ted got the bright idea. Why don't you guys start.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Calling him Channel and create this nickname for him as Channel?
- 43:13Speaker 2: And then how about we put on the back of
- 43:15Speaker 2: his jersey, rather than his last name, Channel? So it
- 43:17Speaker 2: would say Channel 17 on his jersey as advertisement for
- 43:22Speaker 2: the team.
- 43:24Speaker 3: And they were like, nah, Pippen, we're not going to
- 43:27Speaker 3: do that.
- 43:27Speaker 2: But at the same time, while Ted is the guy
- 43:29Speaker 2: that gave this gazillion dollars to the United Nations and
- 43:32Speaker 2: stood and said he was putting rich people on notice,
- 43:34Speaker 2: he was going to call them and that we was
- 43:35Speaker 2: going to do our part and everything else. Ted is
- 43:40Speaker 2: the guy who did those things. Ted is also the
- 43:44Speaker 2: guy who bought up all that land in Montana because
- 43:47Speaker 2: if he had it, then nobody could mess it up.
- 43:50Speaker 2: There are people who truly believe that Ted saved the
- 43:52Speaker 2: American bison in the United States of America. He was
- 43:56Speaker 2: a bold man with ideas. Ted also got kicked out
- 43:59Speaker 2: of Brown because he had a girl in his room.
- 44:02Speaker 4: Absurd.
- 44:03Speaker 3: That really happened.
- 44:07Speaker 5: I've been to Ted's restaurant and had a bison burger.
- 44:11Speaker 5: that he preserved and protected. But yeah, like that's, it
- 44:15Speaker 5: feels like Ted Turner represents a type of like ultra
- 44:21Speaker 5: rich person.
- 44:22Speaker 4: That we used to believe was real.
- 44:24Speaker 5: And we no longer feel like believe is real where
- 44:27Speaker 5: it's kind of eccentric and fun, but ultimately at his core,
- 44:31Speaker 5: a decent person says and does wrong things occasionally, but like,
- 44:37Speaker 5: it's not from a malicious place. I, I mean, I
- 44:41Speaker 5: think I was going to say not to eulogize.
- 44:43Speaker 4: Him, but like he is dead.
- 44:45Speaker 5: So I think everyone is going to say more positive
- 44:47Speaker 5: things about him in general. But it seems more honest
- 44:51Speaker 5: than what I think we experience now with a lot
- 44:53Speaker 5: of like super rich.
- 44:55Speaker 3: Yeah. Like, you know what?
- 44:56Speaker 2: It's that he started as a kind of rich.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:59Speaker 2: And in order to get his bread, he had to
- 45:01Speaker 2: do like daring carnival barker kinds of things.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Right. So I think it then, you know, goes like.
- 45:08Speaker 2: Like Ted used to be on all the like late
- 45:09Speaker 2: night talk shows and everything else. And Ted has real actual,
- 45:13Speaker 2: had real actual jokes that he would tell when he
- 45:15Speaker 2: was around people. Like, no, he was a, they didn't
- 45:19Speaker 2: make a lot of dudes like that.
- 45:21Speaker 3: And again, we talk about the impact that he had
- 45:23Speaker 3: on the world.
- 45:24Speaker 2: You can't really downgrade it. You can't really downplay it.
- 45:29Speaker 2: And by the way, when all the white people were
- 45:31Speaker 2: running out of Atlanta, I saw somebody make this point online.
- 45:33Speaker 3: They're correct. When all the white people were leaving Atlanta,
- 45:36Speaker 3: Ted set up shop.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Right?
- 45:38Speaker 3: In the city of.
- 45:39Speaker 2: And that's a very, very important thing for a city
- 45:42Speaker 2: that was hugely affected by white flight.
- 45:43Speaker 3: He was also, and this.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Is why I say it gets interesting, Ted was riding
- 45:48Speaker 2: for the Palestinians. Like, he played it as neutral, but
- 45:51Speaker 2: he was just kind of like, hey, man, you know,
- 45:53Speaker 2: one side got an army, one side don't.
- 45:56Speaker 4: All right.
- 46:01Speaker 5: To the point that I made earlier, how I say
- 46:03Speaker 5: crazy things on here, you always protect me.
- 46:04Speaker 4: I'm about to say one. I.
- 46:07Speaker 5: have been, like in the last few months, I think
- 46:12Speaker 5: I've never understood conspiracy theorists more than I do now,
- 46:18Speaker 5: is where you feel that something different is happening, but
- 46:24Speaker 5: you're watching and you aren't understanding it. When you brought
- 46:26Speaker 5: up the Palestinians, it's like, yeah, Remember when that was
- 46:31Speaker 5: a thing we heard about all the time?
- 46:33Speaker 4: Yes.
- 46:35Speaker 5: And then with the way that the ceasefire has been violated,
- 46:40Speaker 5: but we're being told that it wasn't violated. It's like,
- 46:44Speaker 5: I wonder how the rest of the world experiences this.
- 46:46Speaker 5: And then this war that we're in, or I guess
- 46:49Speaker 5: it's currently on.
- 46:52Speaker 4: Break, that war. It started when we was bombing.
- 46:59Speaker 5: schools man yeah and it's like i don't know and
- 47:02Speaker 5: this is the this is not to say suggest any
- 47:04Speaker 5: conspiracy theory but it's just i think what i was
- 47:06Speaker 5: saying why i feel like i sympathize with them more
- 47:09Speaker 5: than before is because i understand that there are decisions
- 47:14Speaker 5: made for what we will watch and read and see
- 47:18Speaker 5: and those influence the conversation and i imagine in the
- 47:23Speaker 5: rest of the world it's like America started this war
- 47:27Speaker 5: by bombing kids.
- 47:28Speaker 4: Yeah. But here, all I'm hearing about is gas prices. Yeah.
- 47:32Speaker 4: It's like, I feel like a crazy person. Yeah.
- 47:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:37Speaker 5: And then, like, eventually, years and years of feeling like that,
- 47:39Speaker 5: I imagine that at some point, I'm going to be like,
- 47:43Speaker 5: this is a massive conspiracy to hide.
- 47:46Speaker 4: All this from us.
- 47:49Speaker 2: By the way, in line with that, the contradictions of
- 47:51Speaker 2: Ted Turner, he's the guy that was riding for Palestine.
- 47:55Speaker 2: And he was also Tomahawk chopping it up through those runs.
- 47:59Speaker 2: His woman doing it with two hands. Because one Tomahawk
- 48:02Speaker 2: chop was not enough.
- 48:06Speaker 4: They still doing that at FSU, right?
- 48:08Speaker 3: They still doing it in Atlanta, too. Oh, they are
- 48:10Speaker 3: still doing it.
- 48:11Speaker 4: In Atlanta, too? Yeah, they still doing it. Oh, yeah,
- 48:12Speaker 4: I guess they still called the Braves.
- 48:14Speaker 3: They are still called the Braves.
- 48:15Speaker 4: Like, look. Did they take the Tomahawk off the jersey
- 48:18Speaker 4: or that's still there?
- 48:19Speaker 3: They never did.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Only... that just tells you how wild it was that
- 48:23Speaker 2: a team used to be called the red skids. Cause,
- 48:26Speaker 2: cause that, that, that allowed everybody else to skate because
- 48:30Speaker 2: that was such a preposterous notion and they can't wait
- 48:32Speaker 2: to bring.
- 48:33Speaker 4: That shit back. Yeah.
- 48:35Speaker 5: It's been, it's been noticed that they are going back
- 48:37Speaker 5: to a lot of the old aesthetic and they're taking
- 48:40Speaker 5: the name commanders off of a lot of things. Like
- 48:44Speaker 5: people believe that they might go with the warriors, uh,
- 48:47Speaker 5: and not go all the way back to the original name.
- 48:50Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:51Speaker 3: I don't think you can do that, right? Like, I don't,
- 48:53Speaker 3: at least I don't.
- 48:54Speaker 4: I don't know why you would want to. You're far
- 48:57Speaker 4: enough away now.
- 48:58Speaker 3: Like, what you doing? And nothing happened.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Like, you guys, everything kind of worked itself out. And
- 49:04Speaker 2: by the way, on Ted, we didn't even have a
- 49:06Speaker 2: chance to get into the wrestling. Like, there's a zillion
- 49:08Speaker 2: different other things.
- 49:09Speaker 3: On this with Ted that we could have.
- 49:11Speaker 2: I would recommend there is a docuseries that I think
- 49:13Speaker 2: was done, duh, through CNN, but it's called Call Me Ted,
- 49:16Speaker 2: which is based on his autobiography. that is on HBO Max,
- 49:19Speaker 2: it's a bit sad. but very interesting, and as Spencer
- 49:22Speaker 2: makes the point about his autobiography, it tells a lot
- 49:24Speaker 2: about his penchant for adultery and a lot about his
- 49:27Speaker 2: struggles with mental health.
- 49:28Speaker 3: Like, it's a He was an American original, as they
- 49:32Speaker 3: often say.
- 49:32Speaker 2: And when I was younger, I didn't quite get while
- 49:34Speaker 2: saying that about somebody could be such a big deal.
- 49:36Speaker 3: But now I understand it in a much, much, much
- 49:38Speaker 3: different way.
- 49:39Speaker 4: Right.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Like there's something to be said about somebody when you
- 49:42Speaker 2: meet him and you're like, damn, they only made one
- 49:43Speaker 2: of those.
- 49:45Speaker 4: You know what I mean? Or only one of those
- 49:48Speaker 4: made it.
- 49:49Speaker 1: It might be the way that I would move your
- 49:53Speaker 1: words around a little bit and say that, yeah, I
- 49:56Speaker 1: think to go back to the Draymond conversation, it's like
- 50:00Speaker 1: there were 110 turners.
- 50:02Speaker 4: Only one of them turned out to be a success.
- 50:05Speaker 2: Yeah, and speaking of making it, who is trying to
- 50:10Speaker 2: make it such that the New England Patriots have to
- 50:12Speaker 2: get a new head coach?
- 50:13Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Because by the way, for the Patriots to be so boring,
- 50:17Speaker 2: for all these years, they stay off in some scandal, right?
- 50:21Speaker 2: Like there's a flat out boring squad that's always in
- 50:23Speaker 2: some scandal. And for all the people that are like,
- 50:26Speaker 2: Diana career over, but ain't nothing happening.
- 50:28Speaker 3: To Mike Vrabel.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Something happened to Mike Vrabel every day in the news,
- 50:32Speaker 2: which means something happened to Mike Vrabel every day at
- 50:35Speaker 2: the crib. And somebody really came with, maybe not the
- 50:38Speaker 2: big joker. Maybe it's just a little joker. Maybe it's
- 50:41Speaker 2: the deuce of spades. I don't know, but they put
- 50:43Speaker 2: it out that they was kicking it while she was
- 50:45Speaker 2: seven months pregnant. Who knew that Mike Vrabel listened to UGK?
- 50:52Speaker 2: That is a reference that eight people listening to this
- 50:54Speaker 2: show get, and every single one of them thinks that
- 50:56Speaker 2: that's amazing.
- 50:57Speaker 3: But that happened. This has really happened. I don't think
- 51:02Speaker 3: he's going to be the coach on opening week.
- 51:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you're right.
- 51:06Speaker 5: Our friend Charlie said yesterday when I was talking to
- 51:10Speaker 5: him that he would put money on Mike Vrabel being
- 51:14Speaker 5: the coach at Ohio State in four years.
- 51:17Speaker 3: Oh yeah, they don't care about this.
- 51:20Speaker 5: It's the perfect thing, too. Day is going to underachieve
- 51:23Speaker 5: just enough. Mike Bramble is going to be home for
- 51:25Speaker 5: a couple of years, and they're going to be.
- 51:27Speaker 4: Like, you're out of there, Day.
- 51:29Speaker 3: I hadn't thought about that.
- 51:31Speaker 5: It's the perfect thing where Charlie skipped to the beginning
- 51:35Speaker 5: or to the end of this.
- 51:38Speaker 4: This just sucks, man. I don't know.
- 51:43Speaker 5: I get that it was kind of funny to start
- 51:47Speaker 5: with like i i stopped laughing a long time.
- 51:50Speaker 3: I didn't think it would still be going on yeah
- 51:54Speaker 3: right so what's the funny.
- 51:55Speaker 5: Or mike you're right mike is that somebody yeah this
- 51:58Speaker 5: stuff keep coming and like it's gonna be hard for
- 52:01Speaker 5: mike very able to continue.
- 52:02Speaker 2: And look i think there's a part of the misery
- 52:03Speaker 2: the two of them are enduring right now that we
- 52:05Speaker 2: ain't talking enough about which is i bet they miss
- 52:08Speaker 2: the hell out of each other right now Like, there's
- 52:11Speaker 2: one thing that might make everything better, and it is
- 52:14Speaker 2: not available.
- 52:16Speaker 3: It's not on the board. It's not there.
- 52:19Speaker 5: And I think, so, like, there's, I think that part
- 52:21Speaker 5: is super obvious, too, where it's like, they, it appears
- 52:28Speaker 5: that they weren't each other's side.
- 52:31Speaker 4: Right. It was a double main situation.
- 52:34Speaker 5: Like, he was doing things that I cannot imagine happening
- 52:40Speaker 5: You know, like multiple hour, two person boat rides.
- 52:46Speaker 4: Like we going on vacations. Yo, yo.
- 52:51Speaker 3: And she's, she, she out to here.
- 52:54Speaker 4: I love you.
- 52:56Speaker 3: Yeah. She out to here like that.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Ooh, there's, I just, and look the messiness of it.
- 53:03Speaker 2: I think for me in the beginning, I think that
- 53:04Speaker 2: this is, this is something that's universally funny to people,
- 53:07Speaker 2: which is watching people get caught. That was the thing
- 53:10Speaker 2: about the Coldplay concert situation. It was funny because it
- 53:13Speaker 2: was so obvious that they had gotten caught. Relatable content
- 53:17Speaker 2: is getting caught doing something. Whatever the something happens to be,
- 53:20Speaker 2: that is relatable content and how you try to get
- 53:23Speaker 2: out of it.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Remember when the Coldplay thing happened and everybody was like, no,
- 53:25Speaker 3: this is how you get out of it.
- 53:27Speaker 2: I don't know if you want to brag about this
- 53:29Speaker 2: in front of your woman, but just saying. It's all
- 53:32Speaker 2: relatable content, right? Everybody can see that, but now this
- 53:36Speaker 2: is a for real Somebody doesn't want him to keep
- 53:40Speaker 2: coaching this football team, it feels like. They also, by
- 53:43Speaker 2: the way, the Patriots had the Stefan Diggs thing go
- 53:46Speaker 2: down this week. And that one I thought was interesting
- 53:48Speaker 2: in a different way. Because if you remember, when this
- 53:51Speaker 2: first came up, they didn't do anything, any sort of
- 53:54Speaker 2: discipline to him whatsoever. They just kept him out there.
- 53:56Speaker 2: And it was easy to go on the cynical, oh,
- 53:58Speaker 2: it only matters if you're winning, right? But no, it
- 54:00Speaker 2: turns out that he was like, nah, dog, that's some nonsense.
- 54:04Speaker 2: And then it turned out to be some nonsense.
- 54:06Speaker 5: That was always the, the, the fight or not always
- 54:09Speaker 5: the fight. At one point it was the fight when
- 54:11Speaker 5: I was at the union with the league all the time.
- 54:14Speaker 5: And that is a fight that we ultimately lost on.
- 54:17Speaker 5: And I think it's probably better for the league as
- 54:19Speaker 5: a whole. And, but it's worse for, I think individual
- 54:24Speaker 5: players is like, no, we got to wait for the
- 54:27Speaker 5: legal process, man. You can't be out here punishing people
- 54:30Speaker 5: based on evidence that you have or, or ideas that
- 54:34Speaker 5: you have or, or, um, But the difference is I
- 54:39Speaker 5: was concerned with justice and the league was concerned with marketing.
- 54:44Speaker 5: And it was like, no, this one random player whose
- 54:47Speaker 5: name 90% of the country didn't know, if he got
- 54:53Speaker 5: a whiff of anything, get him out.
- 54:55Speaker 4: Of here and protect the shield, as they say.
- 54:58Speaker 5: And we can't have him out there playing on Sunday
- 55:00Speaker 5: so people talking about it the way that they're talking
- 55:02Speaker 5: about it. And I think that ultimately might end up
- 55:05Speaker 5: being the reason why the brave, like if this stuff
- 55:08Speaker 5: keep coming, it's like, I don't even know.
- 55:11Speaker 4: Yeah. How there's like no way they got to be together.
- 55:21Speaker 4: That's it. That's the only way.
- 55:23Speaker 5: It's like, I didn't have the heart or courage to
- 55:26Speaker 5: leave what I was in before, but this is my person.
- 55:29Speaker 5: I'm sorry for everybody I hurt and how we can,
- 55:32Speaker 5: but then we got the boys, right? I don't even
- 55:35Speaker 5: want to talk about this shit, man.
- 55:37Speaker 3: Hey, bro, let me tell you. I just throw it
- 55:38Speaker 3: out here.
- 55:39Speaker 2: I ain't never seen nobody happier than that time I
- 55:41Speaker 2: saw TJ Holmes and his new woman together at the
- 55:44Speaker 2: Soho house.
- 55:45Speaker 3: They looked at that. That's what love looked like right there.
- 55:48Speaker 2: They was like, you know, the joke people tell on
- 55:50Speaker 2: the internet, don't let your marriage stop you from your
- 55:52Speaker 2: true love.
- 55:56Speaker 3: Like, that appeared to be that.
- 55:57Speaker 2: Like, I only brought it up because I do think
- 56:00Speaker 2: it's worth noting and it's important. It's become such a
- 56:01Speaker 2: football story because the nature of this scandal makes it
- 56:03Speaker 2: feel like this is not going, this isn't ending anytime soon.
- 56:07Speaker 2: And I just don't know how long it can continue
- 56:10Speaker 2: to go without.
- 56:11Speaker 3: But you know what helps? Going to the Super Bowl
- 56:14Speaker 3: last year.
- 56:14Speaker 4: Yeah, that helps. That helps a lot.
- 56:16Speaker 3: Yeah, if he had put up a Gerard Mayo situation, nah.
- 56:21Speaker 5: I mean, he won't be done even if he does
- 56:24Speaker 5: leave the Patriots. he won't be done. Somebody else will
- 56:27Speaker 5: bring him back in. He'll go to some more therapy.
- 56:31Speaker 5: He'll have enough time off and someone will bring him back.
- 56:34Speaker 5: If I'm skipping some steps, but like what he is,
- 56:38Speaker 5: it's different, obviously for Diana, she's in a much worse
- 56:42Speaker 5: situation where it's like, cause Mike's thing is not a
- 56:46Speaker 5: demonstration of him doing his job improperly or not being
- 56:49Speaker 5: able to do his job. But for Diana, like it's,
- 56:53Speaker 5: it's as implications on like, how she could do her job.
- 56:56Speaker 5: And like with the way that media has changed, I'm
- 56:58Speaker 5: sure there's a lane out there for her if she
- 57:00Speaker 5: wants to take it.
- 57:01Speaker 4: But I mean, I know her.
- 57:03Speaker 5: That doesn't seem like a lane that she would be
- 57:06Speaker 5: interested in.
- 57:06Speaker 3: I just hope she moves out of that house.
- 57:11Speaker 4: Yeah. I would. I would recommend.
- 57:14Speaker 3: But you know what? Dominique Fosworth.
- 57:16Speaker 4: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
- 57:19Speaker 3: I'm always looking out, big dog.
