- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31The sun has changed and we're back out here early, which is
- 0:35nice. And it feels good to have that
- 0:38back in the rhythm again, I think is the right word.
- 0:43So interestingly enough, I have had over the weekend, oodles of
- 0:48seed packages arrive and it's just I ordered them all over the
- 0:53last two weeks. Everything arrived.
- 0:55I've got some bulbs for some aliens that came in, which
- 0:59happened to be in the Onion family for those of you who
- 1:01don't know. And they grow this big giant
- 1:03purple ball that has a big big like the, it looks like a big
- 1:10ball altogether, but it's a bunch of tiny little buds that
- 1:12make the big ball. It's really kind of cool looking
- 1:15and it fits into my theme for the farm for next year, which is
- 1:20going under that magical realm of of course I want to have
- 1:24things be very magical, but I really want to invoke the Doctor
- 1:27Seuss theme and I really want to invoke that magic theme.
- 1:31And So what we are doing is really working on creating
- 1:35different sections that I can do this with.
- 1:38So I of course was sitting there and I got very overindulgent
- 1:42with the seeds. And my son last night said to
- 1:44me, oh, mom, there are so many packets here.
- 1:49Like I know, I know. And he's like, no, really,
- 1:50there's a lot of packets here. And I'm like, I know.
- 1:53And I started thinking about how that must look to somebody who's
- 1:55not in my head. So from the outside it, it just
- 2:00looks like, oh, what are you doing?
- 2:01You have so many things, how are you going to handle all of this?
- 2:05And sometimes I even can question that how am I going to
- 2:08do it? Well, the idea is I have from
- 2:11now until when I have to put things outside at the end of
- 2:15March, like the last week of March, things will go outside.
- 2:20If we're in a rhythm where it could be earlier, I would go
- 2:22earlier. But so I've got all of November,
- 2:25all of December, January, February, and a good part of
- 2:28March. So I've got 4 1/2 months to plan
- 2:31to scope it out to do the structural work that needs to be
- 2:35done for what I have envisioned. And of course I mean starting
- 2:40seeds inside is just like such a thrill to me set up even bigger
- 2:44area. So I have get another set of
- 2:47racks and more lights and start inside.
- 2:51And I know that it seems crazy to everybody, but to me this is
- 2:56electrifying. This feels so good.
- 2:59One of my friends and I are talking about how we can make up
- 3:03a really intense herbal garden and really kind of focus our
- 3:08attention in on herbs. So she is the Wizard of knowing
- 3:13what the work the herbs do. I'm still learning this and I'm
- 3:17going to be diving in full feet into studying this month, this
- 3:23few months coming up. I've got books coming.
- 3:25I've got a course I'm taking understanding like what they all
- 3:30do and going back to the old roots of tradition.
- 3:33I even went back as far as reading into OK, OK, like in the
- 3:361600s, what did they have in their gardens?
- 3:39What did they do? What were the things that were
- 3:42primary to them? What did they believe they did?
- 3:44And it's all so fascinating. So to say that it's I'm enjoying
- 3:49it as an understatement. To say that there are things
- 3:52coming up out of it is an understatement.
- 3:54And knowing that like I can actually make all of this happen
- 3:59in my little slice of the world. Like I can sit here, I can look
- 4:02at it and I can say, is it perfect?
- 4:05No, but I, I am not going for perfect.
- 4:08I'm going for productive. I'm going for learning.
- 4:11I'm going for all those things that make you feel, you know,
- 4:14just filled up inside knowing that you're part of something.
- 4:18Am I? Is it going to be the same this
- 4:21year as it was last year? No, Will, what did I learn?
- 4:24You know, I'm debriefing myself from this whole year and saying,
- 4:27OK, now that I have this strong theme that I want to go with, I
- 4:32can really move forward even better.
- 4:35And I think that the thing that I learned the most in this
- 4:38process of just allowing myself that time to have that magical
- 4:43thinking without somebody Pooh poohing it or saying, oh, you
- 4:47can't do that or that's not a good idea.
- 4:50I mean, anytime that shows up, that's one of those things where
- 4:53I have to say I, I desperately need to not be in the place of
- 4:57allowing that to happen to me because if I do, it's, it's
- 5:01detrimental to my well-being. It's detrimental to the whole
- 5:04process. And I just can't stand the
- 5:06thoughts of having something be a, a pin to my balloon when I
- 5:12haven't even started what I want to do with it yet.
- 5:15So this time today I'm going to come out and say I'm focused on
- 5:21the fact that it doesn't matter if anyone gets it.
- 5:24It doesn't matter if anyone understands, it doesn't matter
- 5:27if it's perfect. What matters is, is it filling
- 5:30me up? Is it filling me up?
- 5:31Is it making me feel grounded? Is it making me feel
- 5:34electrified? And is it letting me step into
- 5:36the magical? And the answer is yes, yes, yes,
- 5:39yes, yes. So I'm off to do some more seed
- 5:41ordering, some more thinking about what could be magical,
- 5:46some more ideas for flowers that look like Doctor Seuss may have
- 5:49drawn them, and other things, other goodies.
- 5:53So I hope you guys have a blessed day and I will see you
- 5:56tomorrow. Bye.
