- 0:03Happy Friday morning, everybody. Well, it's a beautiful day out
- 0:09here in Arnold, MO and we, we're supposed to go racing tonight,
- 0:16but they saying we're gonna have Armageddon.
- 0:20Hell, they say it's gonna rain. Where to race?
- 0:27All right, so we can race on this Friday night.
- 0:30We can go dirt racing at we can go to a Tri-City Speedway,
- 0:36Granite City, IL, we can go to Brownstown, IL, the Brownstown
- 0:42Bullring. We can go to Lincoln, IL up by
- 0:45Springfield, or we can go to Quincy.
- 0:48Now Quincy, IL shows the best chance of all.
- 0:55So we we can go there, but we're going to make a decision around
- 0:583:00 today. If I leave at 3:00, I can make
- 1:03it to anywhere. So we're going to find out.
- 1:07This reminds me of those those movies, you know, where it
- 1:11started out on a beautiful sunny day and then the tornado came.
- 1:19So we're going to see what happens.
- 1:22All right, so we've been talking all NASCAR and we've been having
- 1:27a great time. We've been talking, we've been,
- 1:30we've been doing a lot of debating, haven't we?
- 1:34Like I said, NASCAR is doing great, but we've been talking
- 1:37about that Gen. 7 car and we've just been doing a lot of talking
- 1:43about NASCAR. So on Facebook, we always, we
- 1:48always talk about X. And you know, somebody on X said
- 1:53this, so I'm going to respond to them.
- 1:55Well, on this Friday, we're going to finally switch over to
- 1:59Facebook. On Facebook, some gentleman said
- 2:02Kenny, Kenny, you always talk about NASCAR.
- 2:07Why don't you talk about dirt racing?
- 2:10Let's try a little something different, everybody.
- 2:12Let's walk around the pool. Hopefully I don't fall in.
- 2:17You ever see those Instagram posts from hell?
- 2:20I've seen a guy run his lawn mower in the pool by accident.
- 2:22It was in reverse. He couldn't get it to stop.
- 2:25Oh, look how Clearwater is. Man, Now that's some Clearwater.
- 2:32That's some Clearwater. Shout out to Aaron Hollingshead,
- 2:37who works for Two Men in a spa. They also take care of the hot
- 2:41tub. The old man loves that hot tub.
- 2:44I don't want to hear it. Wallace got all that NASCAR
- 2:47money. That hot tub kicks ass.
- 2:51Hey, by the way, look at a redneck hand.
- 2:53Look at my propane tank right there.
- 2:55But that propane tank runs my fireplace.
- 2:59And listen, I'm not putting no in wood like a redneck.
- 3:03Hey, honey, go out and get the wood.
- 3:05It's real now. We're too old.
- 3:08We don't do that turn the fireplace on it's cleaner.
- 3:12I'm not running outside bringing wood in with ants and shit on
- 3:16the wood. So there I I know right where
- 3:21you guys are going to go all the time.
- 3:23But anyway, thank you to two men in the spot.
- 3:25They take care of our pool. Looks great.
- 3:30I mean, about time for the grandbabies to come on over.
- 3:35OK, so anyway, it's going to be about dirt racing.
- 3:38He says, my God, this man on Facebook says all you do is talk
- 3:43about NASCAR. And I said, well, the reason I
- 3:46talk about NASCAR is because if I make a NASCAR post 3000 people
- 3:54respond. If I make a dirt car post,
- 4:02couple 100 people respond. Now I'm not, I'm not trying to
- 4:06hurt anybody's feelings, but my, my dirt racers, not my dirt
- 4:12races, but the dirt fans, they, they think, they think dirt race
- 4:15is popular. And that's fine.
- 4:17It, it is popular, but it's just, it's just nowhere near as
- 4:21popular as as NASCAR. So sometimes when I talk about
- 4:25dirt racing, I feel like I'm hollering to nobody anybody out
- 4:29there. Does anybody like dirt racing?
- 4:32All right, so let's bring you all up to speed on dirt racing.
- 4:36We got a couple drivers that are on top right now and you know,
- 4:40RTJ, Ricky Thornton, Ricky Thornton Junior, this kid, you
- 4:47know, he come along, he's a he's a staple now.
- 4:50Staple means like, look, look, staple, he's here.
- 4:55He's not a surprise anymore. Ricky's been doing a lot of
- 4:59winning for the last but 10 years, 810 years.
- 5:05And then the other one is Bobby Pierce.
- 5:07Of course, everybody knows about Bobby Pierce, a legend.
- 5:16Look at him. You got you too fat to get
- 5:18through the look. He's trying to get through.
- 5:20You got to find one that's wide enough.
- 5:23He's eating too much. He he he used to go right
- 5:25through these things. And now he's like, damn it,
- 5:27Didn't you see him? Hey, Louie, you got to find one
- 5:31big enough, buddy. Look right here.
- 5:36Try, try. Go, go around.
- 5:39It's because I'm feeding him too many treats.
- 5:42I love you. Want to come up here?
- 5:43Come here. Come here, hot rod.
- 5:47Hey, come here. Come on.
- 5:49Let me go get him. Come here, Louie.
- 5:53There he goes, Louie. You want to come up here?
- 5:57Come here, Louie. Well, I about dropped him when I
- 6:01tried to pick him up. So that scared him.
- 6:04OK, So we got Ricky Thornton Junior, we got Bobby Pierce, and
- 6:09I'm going to throw in a surprise here in a little bit.
- 6:13We got Lucas Oil Late Models, we got World of Outlaw Late Models,
- 6:17and then we got some of these. We got some of these flow
- 6:21nights, Cap Castro flow nights in America.
- 6:27If there would be a great debate on who is better, you know, you
- 6:31know, everybody in life, they want to drink some beer and they
- 6:33want to go, damn it, I'll tell you, this is the best series.
- 6:37So I really feel like Bobby Pierce has the edge right now.
- 6:44Ricky Thornton, Bobby Pierce, you want to say they're equal?
- 6:48You know, I want to, I want to say, I want to say Bobby Pierce
- 6:52and Ricky Thornton are dead ass equal.
- 6:56So, but I just think Bobby Bobby sends it a little bit more on a
- 7:04consistent basis. And and you know, just when you
- 7:07think Bobby Pierce is going to wreck, he doesn't.
- 7:10He reminds me of my brother Mike Wallace when Mike ran dirt.
- 7:14You know, I crewed built some of my brother Mike's cars before I
- 7:18even became a race car driver. And we'd run Jeff City or we'd
- 7:22run Lebanon, Lebanon, I-44, the the Lebanon I-44.
- 7:27That's asphalt right now that used to be dirt.
- 7:31And you should have seen brother Mike run those tracks.
- 7:33Holy shit. MM drives like Bobby Pierce or
- 7:40Bobby Pierce drives like my brother Mike.
- 7:42I think what I'm impressed about Bobby Pierce is you.
- 7:45You swear he's going to wreck, but he doesn't.
- 7:49And for that, I'm going to give Bobby Pierce the number one, the
- 7:53number one dirt racer in America.
- 7:56So Bobby Pierce is the number one dirt racer in America.
- 7:59And here's why I'm going to be specific because he drives so
- 8:04fucking hard that you think he's going to wreck and he doesn't
- 8:08and he wins the race. It's like there's no way he's
- 8:10going to run that cushion. He'll run that wall and you'll
- 8:13swear the whole goddamn quarter panels tore off and and then it
- 8:18doesn't. By the way, I shouldn't have
- 8:20said that GD word right there. Dear Lord, please forgive me my
- 8:24sins. I use your name in vain.
- 8:26Please forgive me of my sins. I I never say the GD word.
- 8:30I don't even know why I used it right there.
- 8:33Please forgive me. So anyway, Bobby Pierce is the
- 8:38best super dirt late model racer in America right now.
- 8:43Ricky Thornton is right there. Ricky Thornton is right there.
- 8:47You know, I want to put them. I want to put them both as a
- 8:49tie. The tiebreaker goes to Bobby
- 8:53Pierce because he runs the cushion uncontrollably and he
- 8:57wins. OK, The dad of dirt racing.
- 9:06Just when you think he's done, he'll pop up at Spoon River or
- 9:10Fair Berry like he did over the week.
- 9:13Superman. Jonathan Davenport, you know,
- 9:17Davenport's one of those guys where you're like, what's wrong
- 9:20with Davenport? What do you mean what's wrong
- 9:23with Davenport? He just got done kicking their
- 9:25ass at Spoon River for 20 grand. Then he just, he the next day or
- 9:29two, he went down to Fairbury against the same guys and kick
- 9:32their ass. Here's the thing about here's
- 9:36the thing about Superman. Jonathan Davenport, he's he,
- 9:41he's, he's a chip off the old Southern racers, the red clay
- 9:45Bloomer Bloomquist, JD, if he don't run through the middle of
- 9:49the track, that's it. He's going to win all those
- 9:52races running right through the middle of the track.
- 9:54For example, Fair Berry, you have Brandon Shepherd put on a
- 9:59hell of a show there at the end and, and get by and, and battle.
- 10:05JD is going to run through the middle of the track.
- 10:07JD is not going to pound the wall down and that type of
- 10:11racing comes from the the South, the the red clay.
- 10:16You don't run the cushion because there's no cushion ever.
- 10:20There's never a cushion down South.
- 10:22All right, so I just I just told you the top 3IN dirt race in the
- 10:27day. I told you why respond right
- 10:30here. Let's argue about it.
- 10:32Love arguing it that that's the only thing that makes social
- 10:37media go round. Let's argue you motherfuckers.
- 10:42Let's go. Damn Herman, that's two
- 10:44motherfuckers. That makes 3 and one GD which I
- 10:50I told the Lord I'm sorry and please forgive me my sins.
- 10:53I am a man of the Lord. As far as me, I'm still racing
- 11:01the hell out of my Sonoco dirt car, but I decided to race right
- 11:05around home for a lot of reasons.
- 11:08I raced around home because I'm not an idiot anymore.
- 11:13I would say 5-8 years ago I got one of the best race tracks in
- 11:18America 15 minutes from my house every Saturday night, Peevely,
- 11:22Missouri Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park.
- 11:25The guys up at Fairbury, they say hey Herman, come up here to
- 11:28Fairbury. I'm like duh.
- 11:30Oh hey bug weed. I'd go 4 hours.
- 11:35I drive 4 hours up to Fairbury when I could do the same thing
- 11:3815 minutes. So I don't do that anymore.
- 11:43I run right around home. I run Friday nights.
- 11:45We got all types of racing around here.
- 11:48I already told you the tracks. Granted a Brownstown.
- 11:51Saturday I can run 15 minutes from here.
- 11:54I can run Peevely or I can run Highland if I get desperate.
- 11:59Sunday I can go up to Quincy and race.
- 12:01That's a neat little racetrack, but I'll tell you another reason
- 12:04I kind of quit travelling and this is not this is not meant to
- 12:10be mean. Have you ever watched any of
- 12:13these races for the quote UN quote, you know the mighty
- 12:17modifieds, they on us, they on us.
- 12:22So I've been watching some of these races and I'm not going to
- 12:24call y'all that. Y'all know who you are.
- 12:27They'll run the Super light models and they'll burn that
- 12:30track up and I've kind of three times so far this year where the
- 12:34modifieds go on the track after the late models and and the
- 12:39tracks rubbered up and they know you're and they and they send
- 12:43the modifies out on a rubbered up racetrack one lane.
- 12:46They did it at Fairbury, they did it at Farmer City, you know,
- 12:53respond right here. I think they even did it at
- 12:54LaSalle. So there's three right there and
- 13:00I just, I just don't need it anymore.
- 13:02I'm not angry because we can make a choice.
- 13:05But you know, you travel 4 hours to, you know, for 2000 to win,
- 13:10which is fine. But you know, 9 times out of 10
- 13:16they can push you on a rub it up racetrack.
- 13:18I'd rather wait an hour and have them, you know, at least scrape
- 13:24the racetrack and take the rubber up off.
- 13:26And I'd rather race on a dirty racetrack and a race on a rubber
- 13:30up racetrack. You put all that effort in.
- 13:33You know those, those little old modifieds, the motors are 3030
- 13:37grand. The cars are, are 70.
- 13:40So well, no, the cars aren't 70. The cars are about 42 and the
- 13:45motors are about 30. So it's a $70,000 car.
- 13:50Oh, you know, the little old modifieds, they, they, they only
- 13:52$70,000. So I choose to just stay ride
- 13:58home. It's it's just easier.
- 14:01I'm older that that driving. Really, that's the number one
- 14:05reason I just don't like driving to the race tracks anymore.
- 14:09All right, everybody, there's your dirt roundup.
- 14:12I hope you all enjoyed it. And man, it's hotter than a well
- 14:15digger's ass. My dumb ass just stood here
- 14:18right, right in the damn sun. I like cussing when I don't
- 14:26cuss. That's when I'm weird.
- 14:27Actually, what you got today, that was the real me.
- 14:31What's wrong? You still look at it.
- 14:33It's driving me nuts. But he's still trying.
- 14:37He's still trying. I'll open the gate up.
- 14:39Come on, Louie. Let me open the gate up and go
- 14:41find your deer buddy. All right.
- 14:44See you somewhere Friday night. But they say it's supposed to
- 14:48rain everywhere. It's supposed to have hail.
- 14:50Oh, my God. Have a great Friday.
