Huntsville’s planning commission just approved a massive new middle school set to open in August 2028, spanning 125,000 square feet and housing 750 students—including sixth graders for the first time. Part of a $600 million school capital plan, the two-story campus will feature 10 classrooms per grade, arts spaces, a gym, and even a future football field. Safety upgrades include closing streets through the campus, and while 65 trees will be removed, over 100 new ones will be planted.
