- 0:27Speaker 2: also will probably be sending an email to complain about
- 0:30Speaker 2: something over the weekend. She said that she does that now.
- 0:32Speaker 2: That's why she is now Karen, So Karen Ann Now
- 0:34Speaker 2: formerly Karen Now. Then on sport, we have Alex White
- 0:38Speaker 2: who'll be delivering all of the latest sporting action, including
- 0:41Speaker 2: what was a very whelming Arsenal Athletico Madrid battle, and
- 0:45Speaker 2: that is only because of the buying PSG battle that
- 0:47Speaker 2: happened the night before. That's all I'm going to say.
- 0:48Speaker 2: But it's still good football. But like when you watch
- 0:50Speaker 2: that other match before that, it is kind of like, okay,
- 0:54Speaker 2: it's kind of like jumping right on the ground after
- 0:58Speaker 2: you've been jumping on a trampoline. That's the type of
- 1:00Speaker 2: weight I felt last night when watching that match. But
- 1:02Speaker 2: we move on swiftly to Jody West, a man who
- 1:05Speaker 2: creates all of this, all of the sounds and the vibes.
- 1:10Speaker 2: He is such a talent and he is as part
- 1:13Speaker 2: of the staff contingent aka squad aka team. He's here,
- 1:17Speaker 2: he's got the badge in his chest and he plays
- 1:19Speaker 2: for that producer Piatrice in the back as well, a
- 1:21Speaker 2: man who is just calm, confident and ready to deliver.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Today has given us incredible stories to share with you
- 1:28Speaker 2: and even fast facts, including that did you know that
- 1:31Speaker 2: Pietrice is terribly good looking? Did you know that? Maybe
- 1:34Speaker 2: you didn't yet, but now you do. That's the fact
- 1:36Speaker 2: he gave me today. And then Cassidy J. Nicholson in
- 1:39Speaker 2: front of me, someone.
- 1:40Speaker 3: In the houses.
- 1:41Speaker 2: She is an advocate for just being yourself, an authentic individual,
- 1:45Speaker 2: a person who loves local brands and also local vibes.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Cassidy's here to ensure that you get through your road
- 1:50Speaker 2: so that your long weekend commences without a hiccup. This
- 1:53Speaker 2: is what we have today. And yes, my name is
- 1:55Speaker 2: Carl Waste. I'm here forew till seven o'clock. I will
- 1:58Speaker 2: just be here a facilitator of your excellence, brilliance, and
- 2:01Speaker 2: your sensational attitude, personality and your presence. And that's why
- 2:05Speaker 2: I'm here today to make sure you have space held
- 2:08Speaker 2: for you to have a great day. Let's do this thing.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Are you ready?
- 2:11Speaker 3: I'm ready. You seem ready because the Zoomi's on full swing.
- 2:14Speaker 2: It is. Sorry, what was the best part of then?
- 2:17Speaker 3: Oh, Jim, Jim, Jim. You know what do you know?
- 2:21Speaker 4: When you have those sessions at the gym where you
- 2:24Speaker 4: feel stronger, you can go a lot longer.
- 2:27Speaker 3: And it's just like h today, I felt strong.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Okay, good stuff. That's what I like to hear. You're
- 2:32Speaker 2: gonna continue. This is not gym, but this is going
- 2:34Speaker 2: to be a proper wad till seven o'clock and we
- 2:37Speaker 2: are here for it. We are gonna work ive you
- 2:39Speaker 2: going the wax say, begin to sweat for you and
- 2:42Speaker 2: make sure that this show is the quality that only
- 2:44Speaker 2: you deserve. And if you want to ask me, what's
- 2:47Speaker 2: the best part of my day? Yes, teller, no problem,
- 2:50Speaker 2: it's happening right now. Welcome to your flash drive. This
- 2:53Speaker 2: is what you came for, your flash drive and KFM
- 2:56Speaker 2: ninety four point five Hello and welcome inn. Oh, this
- 3:00Speaker 2: is Cassidy in the back, Jody Pietrice, Karen formerly Karen Ann,
- 3:04Speaker 2: and then of course Alex on Sport. I'm gonna just
- 3:09Speaker 2: tell you now, it's gonna feel very Friday today. The
- 3:13Speaker 2: only thing that's not gonna be Friday is the fact
- 3:14Speaker 2: that Grand Master Redit is not doing a mix later
- 3:16Speaker 2: that'll be vonder Lass. But don't worry tomorrow. You're gonna
- 3:20Speaker 2: get a worker's day. Grandmaster Redd switched the mix at
- 3:23Speaker 2: six session today. I wanted to ask Cassidy one thing,
- 3:26Speaker 2: Do you think you're hustling hot enough?
- 3:29Speaker 5: Oh?
- 3:29Speaker 3: Probably not. There are people with like three four five jobs,
- 3:33Speaker 3: so definitely not.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Like a US woman who went viral and purportedly she
- 3:40Speaker 2: got fired because she was secretly working three full time
- 3:45Speaker 2: remote jobs at the same time. Her name is Rachel
- 3:50Speaker 2: Dawn allegedly held senior roles across three companies, managing everything
- 3:54Speaker 2: with strict systems, color coded Canadas, and multiple monitors. Her
- 3:58Speaker 2: schedule here. This reportedly included over two thousand calendar entries
- 4:04Speaker 2: in under two years, with no missed meetings or deadlines.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Despite the workload, she was top rated in terms of
- 4:14Speaker 2: performance for all three companies.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Well, she was a senior.
- 4:17Speaker 2: She was eventually uncovered during an it audit and fired
- 4:21Speaker 2: from all three jobs on the same day when this
- 4:25Speaker 2: thing was discovered. And you know what, like, I feel
- 4:28Speaker 2: like the firing if she was doing her job, you
- 4:30Speaker 2: know what, and she was fair ad But I just
- 4:33Speaker 2: thought i'd share that too. If you ever wonder, like
- 4:35Speaker 2: if you're hustling or enough, this is like the pinnacle
- 4:38Speaker 2: despite the firing. But sometimes people have more jobs than like, Look,
- 4:44Speaker 2: have you ever held more than one job?
- 4:46Speaker 3: Yes?
- 4:46Speaker 2: All right, and that is it's a scary thing.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Look, I I'm in a very lucky, privileged position where
- 4:54Speaker 4: I currently well, I have one main job, but I
- 4:56Speaker 4: am able to have a side hustle.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Which is very known.
- 4:59Speaker 4: I do content certain stuff, but even that, I wake
- 5:03Speaker 4: up every day and go, sure, it's very stressful, right
- 5:07Speaker 4: doing two things, But to do it like that, that's wild.
- 5:10Speaker 4: I've never done it to a caliber like that.
- 5:13Speaker 2: You know. It makes me reflect on all the way
- 5:16Speaker 2: in the beginning of this journey of mine in this industry,
- 5:20Speaker 2: in my gap year, how many did I had to
- 5:24Speaker 2: I had to help the fam out because you know,
- 5:26Speaker 2: like my parents they separated when I was in a
- 5:28Speaker 2: trick and in that gap year, I kind of I
- 5:31Speaker 2: had to step up in you know, in a way
- 5:33Speaker 2: that I was stepping up in any way. And in
- 5:36Speaker 2: that particular gap year, I was dead set on getting
- 5:40Speaker 2: some sort of money to stock pass I could study.
- 5:42Speaker 2: But given the small amounts I was receiving from all
- 5:44Speaker 2: the jobs that it took on, it was never going
- 5:47Speaker 2: to happen. But it never stopped me from telling people
- 5:49Speaker 2: that I was going to happen, and I told people
- 5:50Speaker 2: every single day. So I worked at a video shop
- 5:53Speaker 2: in Thornton. That was one of my jobs, and then
- 5:56Speaker 2: there was shift work there, so sometimes I'd ask for
- 6:00Speaker 2: a shift during the weekday from six pm till nine pm,
- 6:04Speaker 2: sometimes ten pm during the peak season, that would be
- 6:07Speaker 2: my shift. But I finished work at the UPS company
- 6:11Speaker 2: that I was working at as a salesperson at five.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I also didn't have a car, so I had to
- 6:15Speaker 2: walk from Pinelands to Thornton to get to my job
- 6:18Speaker 2: at six o'clock and I had to take that hour
- 6:21Speaker 2: to make sure that I was on time for the
- 6:23Speaker 2: six pm shift so I could work in that video shop.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Then what it would happen was a Friday night when
- 6:28Speaker 2: I'm wrapping up at ten pm because the video shop
- 6:30Speaker 2: it's their open a bit later on a Friday night.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I'd then go to sleep and the wake up the
- 6:33Speaker 2: next morning, which would be a Saturday, and that would
- 6:36Speaker 2: allow me to do the work in the malls that
- 6:39Speaker 2: I did. I also in between asked my boss at
- 6:43Speaker 2: the UPS company if I could take a little time
- 6:45Speaker 2: of the day at about three o'clock on some days
- 6:48Speaker 2: so I could coach my boys water polo and football
- 6:51Speaker 2: at the old high school that I used to go
- 6:52Speaker 2: to in Pinelands. So I do the coaching there and
- 6:55Speaker 2: then also had to be present at their matches too.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Sometimes they were on Fridays and then sometimes there were
- 7:00Speaker 2: on Saturdays. Beyond that, I was also doing a lot
- 7:04Speaker 2: of promotional work too, so I would be like in
- 7:06Speaker 2: the middle of males to do promotion work. Sometimes I
- 7:09Speaker 2: did some for paperweight at Bayside. I was in shopping malls.
- 7:12Speaker 2: You know those tasters you know, to make sure that
- 7:14Speaker 2: people you know know about new products, et cetera. That
- 7:18Speaker 2: was one of the things that I did, and I
- 7:21Speaker 2: had to make sure everything worked in terms of the
- 7:24Speaker 2: time that I had during the day, and this lady
- 7:27Speaker 2: kind of made me reflect on that for a second
- 7:29Speaker 2: to say, like, sometimes you just have to lock in. Yeah,
- 7:33Speaker 2: I didn't have a social life. In fact, that affected
- 7:35Speaker 2: my social life all the way through even now, because
- 7:38Speaker 2: they knew Carl was always going to be busy.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Look, it's a sacrifice, but when you want to set
- 7:43Speaker 4: yourself up for a certain type of life, sacrifices need
- 7:46Speaker 4: to be made.
- 7:47Speaker 2: For me, it wasn't setting up, it was survival. So
- 7:50Speaker 2: I had to make sure and in that same year
- 7:52Speaker 2: when I knuckled down and locked in. And maybe this
- 7:54Speaker 2: is to anybody who was thinking like I'm taking a
- 7:57Speaker 2: gap year or my parents didn't have money for me
- 7:59Speaker 2: to study, I'm telling you now, tell people that you
- 8:01Speaker 2: want to study, tell them that you don't have money
- 8:03Speaker 2: to study. Tell them everything that you want to do
- 8:05Speaker 2: with your life, and don't be scared of that, because
- 8:08Speaker 2: I'm telling you right now, tell them what you want
- 8:10Speaker 2: out of life. Verbalize it, make it tangible, make it
- 8:14Speaker 2: real to people, because I guarantee you you never ever
- 8:18Speaker 2: know who's listening. Because in that video shop someone who's listening,
- 8:22Speaker 2: and that woman gave me a bursary through the City
- 8:24Speaker 2: of Cape Town to study psychology and organizational psychology, and
- 8:27Speaker 2: you see tea.
- 8:28Speaker 4: That's you also talk it into existence, like you make
- 8:31Speaker 4: it real, you know what I'm saying.
- 8:33Speaker 3: So that's incredible. Look how it worked out for you.
- 8:35Speaker 2: You know what, it's still every single But the thing is,
- 8:38Speaker 2: you know what never left me is ethic. That's the
- 8:41Speaker 2: one thing that never ever left me is that I
- 8:44Speaker 2: still work for what I do. Yeah, and I know
- 8:47Speaker 2: they say make everything work for you, but I still
- 8:49Speaker 2: earn the right to be in the places I'm privileged
- 8:52Speaker 2: to be in as an MC, as a radio presenter,
- 8:56Speaker 2: TV presenter. Sometimes like that's the thing that I focus
- 8:59Speaker 2: on is the fact that when you get to a job,
- 9:01Speaker 2: it's not yours. Every shift earn it. That's it. That's
- 9:04Speaker 2: the ethic that you need to go into. Another bit
- 9:06Speaker 2: of a voice.
- 9:07Speaker 6: Note been a tutor for like four families. I've been
- 9:13Speaker 6: a driver for maybe one or two families. And I
- 9:17Speaker 6: was a full time student at a university slash college
- 9:22Speaker 6: on top of everything, and I've received my graduate, my graduate,
- 9:27Speaker 6: my degree last year and I've been a full time
- 9:32Speaker 6: teacher ever since.
- 9:33Speaker 3: And I respect the hustle. I you know, you have
- 9:36Speaker 3: to work hard to achieve your goals. So yeah, I
- 9:40Speaker 3: loved it.
- 9:41Speaker 2: That's Ashley, Ashley. I feel you, I see you, and
- 9:45Speaker 2: thanks for sharing. I appreciate that. It's a lovely, lovely
- 9:49Speaker 2: sentiment to know that all those things you're doing, it's
- 9:51Speaker 2: building up to something special and that's something for you.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I also know that a lot of moms are doing
- 9:55Speaker 2: that as we speak. You know a lot a lot
- 9:57Speaker 2: of single parents are doing that too, and I know
- 9:58Speaker 2: for you moms specifically, it also comes with mo embarrassments
- 10:02Speaker 2: sometimes where you just your mind is on three million
- 10:04Speaker 2: different things and then something pops up. Do you have
- 10:06Speaker 2: a moment like that you'd like to share? I'd love
- 10:08Speaker 2: for you to do so. If you want to win
- 10:09Speaker 2: a cash back, a big break like a two and
- 10:11Speaker 2: a half thousand million cash back from Clicks, all I
- 10:13Speaker 2: need is for you to share that story of your
- 10:15Speaker 2: mom embarrassing moments. Does your aid to nine four five
- 10:18Speaker 2: zero nine four zero. Please add your name and your
- 10:22Speaker 2: ID number and the keyword clicks. I'll give you a
- 10:24Speaker 2: call back. Timoy V, I need you on your show flashtrack.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Okay, why laughing?
- 10:35Speaker 2: I'm sorry? Why do you always bring these things up
- 10:37Speaker 2: right before I go.
- 10:38Speaker 3: On a laughing friends. No man, no, man, let our
- 10:43Speaker 3: friends know.
- 10:44Speaker 2: So Casud says to me, somebody who is needing to
- 10:48Speaker 2: get a response from me has messaged her now and
- 10:53Speaker 2: has asked her to relay a message onto me.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Do you know?
- 10:56Speaker 2: So I just want to say thank you? And then
- 10:59Speaker 2: apparently another and wanted my contact details or is waiting
- 11:02Speaker 2: for me to confirm something else. And then right before
- 11:05Speaker 2: I went in, I said, Cassidy, that'll be all.
- 11:07Speaker 7: Thank you so much.
- 11:08Speaker 2: My gosh, gives give me a second. I want to
- 11:10Speaker 2: check my cup. Yeah, I'm good for coffee. Thanks anyway,
- 11:14Speaker 2: what so as it was that made me laugh, I'm
- 11:18Speaker 2: sorry man, no, no, I really apologize, and yes, on
- 11:20Speaker 2: both accounts, I'm on it. Thank you very much for
- 11:23Speaker 2: reminding me. Remember with regard to my mind, it is
- 11:27Speaker 2: it is flooded with a lot of things, but everything's
- 11:30Speaker 2: related to the project I'm doing right now, which is radio.
- 11:32Speaker 2: You know, for six days a week. You know I
- 11:34Speaker 2: do it. Both I do K from top forty and
- 11:36Speaker 2: the flash drive both need one hundred percent attention, of
- 11:39Speaker 2: which I only have one hundred, which means I need
- 11:40Speaker 2: tw hundred percent attention, which means I give more attention
- 11:42Speaker 2: than I actually have. That is it?
- 11:44Speaker 3: I know, and I totally back you, thank you, totally back,
- 11:47Speaker 3: Thank you so much.
- 11:48Speaker 4: And if you are anyone that is trying to get
- 11:49Speaker 4: a hold of Call, please go through the correct avenues.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yes, that's Cassidy's DMS girl named Cassidy. Please and she'll
- 11:57Speaker 2: relay if you.
- 11:58Speaker 4: If you see the little mess box on my Instagram
- 12:01Speaker 4: and you think I'm going to go and send her
- 12:04Speaker 4: a message to tell Carl that I actually want to
- 12:07Speaker 4: send him a message.
- 12:09Speaker 3: I just want you to know. It's not fun. Don't
- 12:12Speaker 3: do that.
- 12:13Speaker 4: Send him an email, send him you know when you know,
- 12:16Speaker 4: when you know, when the cute boy at school was
- 12:18Speaker 4: like listen, he comes up to you and you get
- 12:20Speaker 4: excited and then he goes, what's your friend's number?
- 12:26Speaker 3: That's what that was.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Hi, Jimma, it's Call here. I'm currently on air and
- 12:30Speaker 2: I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Apologies
- 12:33Speaker 2: for my delayed response, Cassidy. My pa really relayed the
- 12:36Speaker 2: details onto me. Thank you very much. Have a beautiful afternoon.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Just send a voice note that quickly.
- 12:45Speaker 3: So where were we trying to do the show?
- 12:51Speaker 2: Okay, Hi, let's get some news going here for you.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Very happy to announce that Uncle Gayton is sending my
- 12:59Speaker 2: figures and Mi Casa as a cultural contingent to support
- 13:04Speaker 2: but Funama Funner at the twenty twenty six FEEFA World Cup.
- 13:08Speaker 2: It is happening.
- 13:10Speaker 3: That is incredible.
- 13:12Speaker 2: My figure is thirty years in the game, Mikasa fifteen
- 13:16Speaker 2: years in the game in June, which would be wonderful
- 13:20Speaker 2: to actually have that as a celebratory tour. So to
- 13:23Speaker 2: my figures allaw whenever someone gets the ball over the
- 13:30Speaker 2: line on that side, you know the referee no longer
- 13:32Speaker 2: will go corner. They will go corner, corner, corner, throw
- 13:41Speaker 2: in corner corner on my figures and Mikasa amazing really is,
- 13:49Speaker 2: and I mean they have been real proper stewards of
- 13:52Speaker 2: the music industry. They've been contributors and icons, innovators. Yes,
- 13:57Speaker 2: please more of that, More of people with cultural influence
- 14:02Speaker 2: like music going to support by fun of a funn
- 14:05Speaker 2: of rumor has it that they'll be sent to Mexico
- 14:08Speaker 2: for that first match, and of course they'll be part
- 14:10Speaker 2: of the celebrations form a fun of a fun at
- 14:12Speaker 2: That's gonna be so cool, really really love that Cape
- 14:15Speaker 2: Town's a hot spot. We know this already. Can I
- 14:18Speaker 2: tell you about the huge boom in Cape Town? I
- 14:21Speaker 2: mean this has been happening for a long time, but
- 14:23Speaker 2: according to recent reports, Cape Town continues to attract attention,
- 14:27Speaker 2: with around one hundred thousand families from hau Teng choosing
- 14:30Speaker 2: to relocate to Cape Town over the past three years.
- 14:32Speaker 2: The steady growth is a strong sign of the city's
- 14:35Speaker 2: appeal in terms of let me just think about what
- 14:38Speaker 2: attracts people from job to capton, no pottles. And then
- 14:42Speaker 2: also just the fact that we always like twenty minutes
- 14:44Speaker 2: away from the beach, right and we've got a big
- 14:46Speaker 2: mountain there. That's a beautiful vista to look at when
- 14:48Speaker 2: you hear and as I say to everybody who tells me,
- 14:53Speaker 2: call I sort of need you know, thank you for
- 14:54Speaker 2: m seeing my company, so you know, interview function, you
- 14:57Speaker 2: should live up here, man, you might a killing. And
- 14:59Speaker 2: my response them is quite simple, Yes, what do you say?
- 15:01Speaker 2: I would rather struggle in beauty, my love kiptom.
- 15:07Speaker 4: So yes, I said that today, actually struggle in beauty. Yeah,
- 15:12Speaker 4: I said that today I was I was going to
- 15:15Speaker 4: a viewing for something which I'm not going to disclose.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Yet.
- 15:17Speaker 4: But I was going to a viewing and the person
- 15:20Speaker 4: that I was chatting to was from Joeburg, and then
- 15:22Speaker 4: I was like, yo, hey, I'd mutch rather struggle in
- 15:26Speaker 4: beauty yep.
- 15:27Speaker 3: And they couldn't agree more. Though they moved to Cape Town.
- 15:31Speaker 4: They moved to Cape Town ten years ago and they
- 15:33Speaker 4: have not looked back since, and it's probably because they
- 15:35Speaker 4: keep looking at the ocean and the mountains.
- 15:37Speaker 2: So the struggle, the struggle part is I mean, I'm
- 15:39Speaker 2: using that as a tongue in cheek term because I
- 15:42Speaker 2: know that there are many more opportunities in Johannesburg. Like
- 15:44Speaker 2: I know for the fact that I was up there
- 15:45Speaker 2: once and I did I booked a gig there, and
- 15:48Speaker 2: then I booked a gig while I was doing that
- 15:49Speaker 2: gig while I was up there, and and death with
- 15:52Speaker 2: that flows. So I understand the economic value.
- 15:54Speaker 3: How thing is for business.
- 15:56Speaker 2: I sold that My soul is yeremen, I'd rather have
- 15:59Speaker 2: like one in see booking per three months than per
- 16:02Speaker 2: three hours. You understand what I'm saying. I get it.
- 16:05Speaker 2: The money is not the same, but it's about my soul. Man,
- 16:09Speaker 2: And here I am, and my soul is so full
- 16:11Speaker 2: when I'm in the city. When that plane comes down
- 16:14Speaker 2: and I see the mountain, I'm about the land. It's amazing.
- 16:17Speaker 2: How like all the blood rushes back to your skin.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, just so beautiful, and.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Your lips on try anymore?
- 16:23Speaker 2: Yoh, the chap is real, Janisburg everything, honestly, if you
- 16:28Speaker 2: want to see a desiccated waste to invite me to
- 16:30Speaker 2: your gig and Joe Burg, how are you? I'm fine
- 16:36Speaker 2: and you're you? Yeah, it's and then yes, introducing the
- 16:44Speaker 2: top work habits that will make you look busy. Are
- 16:48Speaker 2: you ready? If you want to look really busy, especially
- 16:50Speaker 2: in a day like this, and you don't smark the
- 16:52Speaker 2: work until five o'clock, make sure you've got your habits
- 16:54Speaker 2: in order. All right, let's go for the top ten,
- 16:57Speaker 2: starting at ten, all the way down to one. At
- 16:59Speaker 2: ten saying hectic, yeah, yeah, hectic. How you doing, yeah, hectic, hectic,
- 17:04Speaker 2: And always have an almost out of breath feel all right, okay.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Nine look stressed even though you're not. Just look like
- 17:12Speaker 2: you're busy working on a project and it's stressing you out.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Eight sending emails at odd hours. Schedule your emails so
- 17:18Speaker 2: they go out at one am in the morning, even
- 17:21Speaker 2: though you've done them at four. Think about that. It
- 17:23Speaker 2: means you've been working twenty four hours a day. Your
- 17:24Speaker 2: boss will see this. You just luck, all right, staying
- 17:27Speaker 2: late for no reason. If there's it like an evening
- 17:30Speaker 2: where you can actually afford to stay late, just do
- 17:33Speaker 2: it anyway. But make sure people know that you're working late.
- 17:36Speaker 2: So send those emails, make those calls during that time
- 17:39Speaker 2: so they can go aqull what's happening like you start
- 17:41Speaker 2: at office? Yeah, yeah, definitely stitt of the office.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Yeah, or you know what soft launch its. Yeah, yeah,
- 17:46Speaker 4: I'm saying late tonight. Yeah, I'm saying And then you
- 17:48Speaker 4: don't even have to.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Say that at lunchtime. Key key key key right. Use
- 17:52Speaker 2: big words and emails always makes you look good, really does.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Just try use a phasaurus, I know, to sum a
- 17:58Speaker 2: dinosaur to others A means to get other words for
- 18:00Speaker 2: our words. And then right, just do the things instead
- 18:05Speaker 2: of saying like I've been trying to speak to you, No,
- 18:06Speaker 2: I've been trying to articulate certain messages that I've been
- 18:09Speaker 2: crafting throughout the entire week, juxtaposing what is only ethic
- 18:13Speaker 2: and goals in order to fus to achieve the commonality
- 18:16Speaker 2: within the workspace. So okay, link yez what I'm saying.
- 18:19Speaker 2: That's what I'm talking about. Big words work, scheduling unnecessary
- 18:22Speaker 2: meetings makes you look. Wow, I feel.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Like number five is more than just busy.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Number five is overused in certain buildings. Yep, couldn't agree
- 18:32Speaker 2: more certain four on your desktop, just have lots of
- 18:37Speaker 2: tabs open. Just find websites that are just familiar to
- 18:40Speaker 2: what you do for a living, and just tab the
- 18:42Speaker 2: tabs run across your screen. Tabs open a big say
- 18:46Speaker 2: circle back. That's very pro tip for looking busy. To
- 18:50Speaker 2: walk fast, but walk with a laptop. Don't ever walk
- 18:53Speaker 2: idly with nothing in your hands. Walk with a laptop,
- 18:56Speaker 2: work was a notepad. Just walk with something in your hand. Okay,
- 19:01Speaker 2: not coffee, No, make it purposeful laptop notepad, Just make
- 19:05Speaker 2: sure and then well even just a pen. And number
- 19:08Speaker 2: one pro tip is that if you're in an office
- 19:10Speaker 2: and there are no real like qubicles or that sort
- 19:12Speaker 2: of thing, right, think about doing this when you're at
- 19:14Speaker 2: your desk. Make sure people know you busy. Here's the
- 19:18Speaker 2: pro tip. Type aggressively, and that is how you look
- 19:28Speaker 2: busy at work and people will leave you alone and
- 19:32Speaker 2: HR will be more inclined to accept leave requests. Thank
- 19:35Speaker 2: you so much, thank you very much. You're most welcome,
- 19:39Speaker 2: you most I'm here all week, literally till Saturday, not Sunday.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I have asked, there we go, love it, beautiful stuff.
- 19:45Speaker 2: It's your flash drive KUFAM ninety four point five. Just
- 19:47Speaker 2: excuse me for a second.
- 19:49Speaker 3: I was gonna ask if you do any of those.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Oh you're busy.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I'm very busy, sorry tech, excuse me? You sure? Anyway,
- 19:58Speaker 2: let's recommence host these advertorial messages. Did you Yeah, I'm
- 20:04Speaker 2: doing well lasting. I found something very fascinating I wanted
- 20:07Speaker 2: to share with you, Cassidy, and that is South Africans
- 20:10Speaker 2: have been asked things that really make them awkward, like
- 20:13Speaker 2: socially awkward to do. And you know, every single country
- 20:16Speaker 2: has something that's quite awkward for them socially. For instance,
- 20:19Speaker 2: when I went to London on the Tube, no one
- 20:23Speaker 2: likes to greet so greeting is very awkward for people
- 20:26Speaker 2: in the UK.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Not just in the Tube.
- 20:27Speaker 2: But yes, yeah, yeah, just like gin Jeneral. So now
- 20:30Speaker 2: obviously I was there for a comedy show and I
- 20:34Speaker 2: recall traveling around, you know. But on the days prior
- 20:37Speaker 2: to the show, and I recall just greeting and like,
- 20:41Speaker 2: just that's who I am, you know, I'll greet everybody.
- 20:43Speaker 2: As I walked through a place, no one they just
- 20:46Speaker 2: looked at me strangely. And it wasn't because of my hair.
- 20:48Speaker 2: I was wearing a cap. You understand what I'm saying.
- 20:50Speaker 2: So I wasn't like a punk in the tube. No,
- 20:52Speaker 2: you know, it wasn't like that.
- 20:53Speaker 3: It would have made you more normal, if anything.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Possibly, And now that I think about it, I could
- 20:57Speaker 2: have been. But then, you know, so that probably would
- 20:59Speaker 2: be quite awkward, you know. But So Africans have had
- 21:02Speaker 2: they say of the things that make them feel very awkward.
- 21:05Speaker 2: And when I read this, I thought about my personal one.
- 21:07Speaker 2: But let me just take you through some of these
- 21:08Speaker 2: and you'll get it. When I go through leaving a
- 21:11Speaker 2: group chat. Apparently it's very awkward for South Africans. We
- 21:14Speaker 2: don't like to.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Affense like a personal attack.
- 21:16Speaker 2: We kind of like, how do we leave this group chat? Now?
- 21:20Speaker 2: Do I just stay here so I don't upset anybody? Okay?
- 21:23Speaker 2: What else? Stay? And then you never leave the group chat? Yeah,
- 21:26Speaker 2: but then it still comes through and you still see
- 21:28Speaker 2: it on the top of your WhatsApp list. So leaving
- 21:31Speaker 2: a group chat apparently is very awkward for South Africans. Furthermore,
- 21:35Speaker 2: voice notes versus a typing debate Dentanton very very awkward.
- 21:44Speaker 2: I want you to think about it.
- 21:45Speaker 3: What are you voice note or typer?
- 21:48Speaker 2: I am? I'm a typer. I'll tell you why, because
- 21:52Speaker 2: I think I can articularly very well through a voice note.
- 21:56Speaker 2: But I have a feeling that what I need to
- 21:57Speaker 2: say is going to be quite long. So if I
- 22:00Speaker 2: type it and I have good, like little point paragraphs,
- 22:02Speaker 2: then it'll be a lot easier to ingest instead of
- 22:05Speaker 2: me spending a minute and a half explaining why I
- 22:08Speaker 2: said that. Why I believe that's a good idea. I
- 22:10Speaker 2: think just to type it so then it's suck. Also,
- 22:12Speaker 2: there's kind of like a paper trail of it as well.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Okay, yes, that's true.
- 22:15Speaker 2: So I think that's what I like about, especially in
- 22:17Speaker 2: sort of the debate context. I think that's what I prefer.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Are you a voice note?
- 22:21Speaker 3: I'm a voice noteser.
- 22:22Speaker 4: As long as it's not a podcast, I will send
- 22:24Speaker 4: you a voice note. I do believe that things can
- 22:26Speaker 4: get lost in translation through text because people read.
- 22:29Speaker 3: The tone that they are in, and I'm guilty of that.
- 22:33Speaker 3: I'm guilty of this.
- 22:34Speaker 4: We read the text in the tone that we are
- 22:36Speaker 4: feeling right now, as opposed to the tone that it
- 22:38Speaker 4: was actually supposed to be sent in.
- 22:40Speaker 3: So I'm a voice noter.
- 22:42Speaker 2: The next one is very very sensitive, especially to Karen.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Oh and she's yah, Oh, she's yeah, Sorry.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I thought you went to go in to the newsroom. Apologies,
- 22:50Speaker 2: are you still yeah? Sending food back apparently is very
- 22:56Speaker 2: awkward to South Africans on a generalized level. Yeah, not Karen,
- 23:02Speaker 2: formerly Karen Ann.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Yes, but now Karen.
- 23:04Speaker 2: But Karen doesn't unless unless she doesn't send it back,
- 23:07Speaker 2: but then sends the email on the Monday about the
- 23:09Speaker 2: field to the restaurant. Is that you okay? Sorry, there
- 23:12Speaker 2: we go? Is this making sense to you? So these
- 23:14Speaker 2: things that are fun South Africa is find awkward. I
- 23:16Speaker 2: thought this is fascinating. Talking in meetings a.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Froth for a little bit of chat chat in a meeting,
- 23:24Speaker 3: but not.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Chat at a meeting the other day and nobody spoke.
- 23:28Speaker 2: People just chirping me, but then nobody spoke. You heard that, yes, yeah,
- 23:34Speaker 2: but that was very interesting, right, So so no one
- 23:36Speaker 2: spoke in the meaning so talking and meetings that are
- 23:38Speaker 2: called Are you are talking in meetings? Karen, Karen? And
- 23:41Speaker 2: not to use anymore? Yes? Are you are talking meetings?
- 23:44Speaker 8: So?
- 23:44Speaker 2: Do you only use the email for the Monday? Only
- 23:46Speaker 2: the email? Okay, that's it? So so then obviously this one.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Is also like texts?
- 23:50Speaker 2: Do you like to? Of course you do, because that's
- 23:52Speaker 2: basically like a WhatsApp email. I get it. Yeah, it
- 23:54Speaker 2: makes sense whatsap email you're confronting someone. Apparently South Africa's
- 23:58Speaker 2: are very awkward, which.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Is interesting and well, I was going to say, Charlie
- 24:04Speaker 4: is thrown believes that she's quite straightforward. So I feel
- 24:07Speaker 4: like there's you know, there's a little there's no gray
- 24:10Speaker 4: scale there. You either confront, confront, confront or it's actually
- 24:14Speaker 4: no no worries.
- 24:15Speaker 2: If not, do you want to be triggered by the
- 24:18Speaker 2: next one.
- 24:18Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 2: South Africans are extremely awkward when asking for their money back.
- 24:25Speaker 2: You're given our political sphere, we're not really popular in
- 24:30Speaker 2: paying back the money. No, asking for it back is
- 24:34Speaker 2: very awkward for South Africans.
- 24:36Speaker 4: Asking for it back almost feels like asking for money.
- 24:38Speaker 2: That's you see that it is a very good point.
- 24:41Speaker 2: It wasn't yours you five bucks that I that I
- 24:45Speaker 2: that I know, I know, I know it's inconvenient.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Listen, you don't have to do right now. All I'm
- 24:49Speaker 3: asking for is to give.
- 24:50Speaker 2: It back, yeah if you if you don't, because I
- 24:54Speaker 2: know you said. Look, I know you said you're gonna
- 24:55Speaker 2: pay me back three months ago, and so that's why
- 24:57Speaker 2: I don't want to impose, like no worries if not.
- 24:59Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, but you kind of needed to pay rent
- 25:03Speaker 5: if but only if you can, like if you can
- 25:06Speaker 5: like that plan.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I know you just came back from a trip to Dubai,
- 25:10Speaker 2: but like if you don't mind, like if it's okay,
- 25:13Speaker 2: because I know I saw your stories in Dubai and
- 25:15Speaker 2: I know you're busy, but if you don't mind, men,
- 25:18Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. I know, I know. I
- 25:20Speaker 2: don't know how you paid for that, but it doesn't matter, Like,
- 25:21Speaker 2: I mean, that's not saw on.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Your Instagram story that you are having drinks with friends.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Yes, yes, and you're unemployed, so I don't know how
- 25:27Speaker 4: that's the thing.
- 25:28Speaker 3: But I would really like money for food and.
- 25:30Speaker 2: The drinks in that place. I know it's one eight
- 25:32Speaker 2: ye of cocktail. But it's fine, it's not it's not
- 25:33Speaker 2: about me, no worries. But if you if you're not
- 25:37Speaker 2: inconvenienced by me asking, I just wanted to drop you
- 25:42Speaker 2: this text and ask for it back splitting the bowl.
- 25:50Speaker 2: But you know what, we also mathematically awkward when it
- 25:53Speaker 2: comes to that. Don't forget you were said another cocktail.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Look at Karen Ann. I know you just had the water,
- 26:00Speaker 2: but then you decided to come out lunch with us anyway,
- 26:02Speaker 2: so you must also play the five and exactly you
- 26:04Speaker 2: understand that's a very awkward scenario because that in that setting,
- 26:08Speaker 2: you think about it for a second, you could have
- 26:09Speaker 2: had a little sparkling water and maybe a side of chips. Yeah,
- 26:12Speaker 2: and then Karen Anne had the five and a gram ribs,
- 26:15Speaker 2: yes with another side.
- 26:16Speaker 4: I've been in a situation where, you know, I've got
- 26:19Speaker 4: friends who literally play card roulette, where it's like they
- 26:22Speaker 4: put their cards down at the same time and the
- 26:24Speaker 4: one that goes off is the one that goes off, right,
- 26:27Speaker 4: which I thought was fun. But I've also been in
- 26:29Speaker 4: situations where people will come and it's like, cool, I'm
- 26:32Speaker 4: only going to get myself a water, and then someone's
- 26:35Speaker 4: out here ordering shots and then they go, Okay, cool,
- 26:37Speaker 4: so we're gonna split it equally.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Ah, but the cardulets for rich people. I'm sorry, I'm sorry,
- 26:43Speaker 2: I'm just the thing we usually play whose card declines first?
- 26:46Speaker 3: Oh well, I was going to say the card.
- 26:48Speaker 4: The cardroulette game is also for men to measure their
- 26:51Speaker 4: masculinity when there's like fee.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Yeah, no, no, no, no, donkey, I'm sorry. Stay in
- 26:56Speaker 2: your lane, Gentlemenual value is in your actions, not in
- 26:59Speaker 2: your bank account. Moving along very.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Swiftly, you find ways that impressed me.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Say stop, you see now that you're gonna make me
- 27:07Speaker 2: blush and I'm not a blusher with my cheeks are
- 27:10Speaker 2: going very warm. Stop saying no to plans awkward for
- 27:14Speaker 2: South Africans because we love Trust me, I know someone
- 27:18Speaker 2: in this room who says yes to plans but then
- 27:20Speaker 2: complains about saying yes. I don't want to email on
- 27:23Speaker 2: the Monday. Don't mention names anyway. There's certain people in
- 27:28Speaker 2: our midst that's say yes to other success, but then
- 27:32Speaker 2: on the evening of at this show, we'll say yes.
- 27:36Speaker 2: So I'm like, what's this thing? No, it's my best
- 27:42Speaker 2: friend's birthday. Don't smock.
- 27:46Speaker 4: The best thing in the world is if someone cancels,
- 27:50Speaker 4: like not on your behalf, but they just say, hey, look,
- 27:52Speaker 4: I'm not feeling up to it.
- 27:53Speaker 3: And you know that you were just about the cancel,
- 27:55Speaker 3: but you didn't want to confront the situation.
- 27:57Speaker 7: That is the best fit.
- 27:58Speaker 3: That is the rest.
- 28:00Speaker 2: So those are things that South African's are most awkward about.
- 28:02Speaker 2: I have a few that I want to add to
- 28:03Speaker 2: the list of here please. Number one is I think
- 28:07Speaker 2: it's very awkward, and I think maybe it's because it's
- 28:09Speaker 2: on me and I forget all the time when I'm
- 28:11Speaker 2: at a petrol station and the petrol attendant looks at
- 28:16Speaker 2: me and he says to me, tires and I know
- 28:20Speaker 2: my tires need to be fulled right, but you're not
- 28:22Speaker 2: so awkward? They ask me how many bars?
- 28:25Speaker 3: And you don't know.
- 28:26Speaker 2: I don't know. So then the awkard thing I must do.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I must open on my golf here. I have to
- 28:29Speaker 2: open the door because there's a table of tire pressure there, yes,
- 28:33Speaker 2: and I must go check if it's two twenty or
- 28:34Speaker 2: two hundred.
- 28:35Speaker 3: And the handles that works, So it takes you a
- 28:37Speaker 3: little bit of time.
- 28:38Speaker 2: And then I rolled out my window then I open
- 28:39Speaker 2: it from the outside and then I check. You understand,
- 28:42Speaker 2: that's one of the things. The other thing it's very
- 28:44Speaker 2: awkward for me, and I know for many people, is
- 28:46Speaker 2: that there's a certain set of traffic lights that that's
- 28:50Speaker 2: on four Trecker Road. Okay, oh for a trick. And
- 28:54Speaker 2: there are people there who wash your windows, your windows right,
- 28:57Speaker 2: and your windscreens. Now here's the thing you know it's
- 28:58Speaker 2: awkward for me is that the guy al really went
- 29:01Speaker 2: hard on the window screen. It's that's clear. Okay. Now
- 29:04Speaker 2: I'm thinking if I don't have money, now this man,
- 29:06Speaker 2: I'm going to read dirty it vallid you understand I'm
- 29:10Speaker 2: so awkward now I don't know what to give you.
- 29:12Speaker 2: So sometimes I have like a fresh like protein shake
- 29:14Speaker 2: in the car, or like a cool drink, and I
- 29:17Speaker 2: just give that because like I don't want you because
- 29:19Speaker 2: you did so well on the wind screen and I
- 29:21Speaker 2: know I didn't ask for it. But also so what
- 29:24Speaker 2: am I going? What am I going to do if
- 29:25Speaker 2: I say I have no money, yes, so then it's awkward.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Then I'm like, I need to give you something in
- 29:29Speaker 2: my car. I'm certain that I've given this guy like
- 29:32Speaker 2: a petrol slip or something before. I don't know, but
- 29:35Speaker 2: I just feel like there needs to be an exchange there.
- 29:37Speaker 2: So I find that very awkward. How to say no
- 29:41Speaker 2: that I don't have money to the person who just
- 29:43Speaker 2: made my windscreen crystal clear. That's my little awkwards So
- 29:46Speaker 2: that African thing. Do you have anything?
- 29:47Speaker 8: Oh?
- 29:48Speaker 3: I do?
- 29:48Speaker 4: And I think that this is the most awkward thing
- 29:52Speaker 4: hands down.
- 29:53Speaker 2: What's that?
- 29:54Speaker 3: You say goodbye and.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Then I know where you're going.
- 30:00Speaker 4: I must walk in the same direction. You know what
- 30:06Speaker 4: I'm done? Find the grave, turn it around. Yeah, I
- 30:09Speaker 4: will go and bury myself, thank you very much.
- 30:12Speaker 3: The worst thing in the world.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Walk in the same direction to your car after you
- 30:16Speaker 4: said bye anyway.
- 30:18Speaker 2: And you use all the bug goodbye words anyway otherwise otherwise,
- 30:22Speaker 2: uh yeah, good seeing you was do this again some time.
- 30:27Speaker 2: That's like the closing of coffee and then you walk
- 30:30Speaker 2: through your cars a pocket and you know.
- 30:32Speaker 4: What the thing is South Africans we commit to the
- 30:34Speaker 4: but because now.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Silence, no, no, because the thing is you now deliberatey
- 30:38Speaker 2: don't speak to the person because you're like, I've wrapped
- 30:40Speaker 2: this up already. I have no more.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Your your your words are depleted.
- 30:44Speaker 2: You have somebody in the line.
- 30:45Speaker 9: Here, Hello, hello, call it mina, Hello.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Mina, mina. Check your man. That's an African thing. The
- 30:53Speaker 2: thing that's Africa's find very awkward. You heard Cassidy's, now
- 30:55Speaker 2: you heard mine. You heard this, now I need to
- 30:58Speaker 2: hear yours.
- 30:59Speaker 7: What is that?
- 31:00Speaker 9: So listen. It actually happened yesterday. So lately it's this
- 31:04Speaker 9: thing that everyone like coffee shops and even just like
- 31:09Speaker 9: y'are at Barista where you just get a takeaway coffee
- 31:12Speaker 9: or restaurants or whatever, so yes, I went, I need
- 31:14Speaker 9: happens quite often, but lately it's a thing with a
- 31:17Speaker 9: Yoco machine and you pay it literally just to quick
- 31:19Speaker 9: take away coffee. You know where this is going as well,
- 31:21Speaker 9: I know exactly where you go. It's so annoying, so
- 31:25Speaker 9: they literally so it comes up like ten percent, twenty percent,
- 31:29Speaker 9: and you already pay like sixty or seventy rounds for
- 31:31Speaker 9: your coffee and you're like, you're you're just going to
- 31:33Speaker 9: make my coffee. You getting a celary for this anyway,
- 31:36Speaker 9: And now it's another you have to and it's so
- 31:38Speaker 9: awkward to say no, like if you have to justify
- 31:40Speaker 9: saying when you say no, tip and then you just
- 31:42Speaker 9: add like ten percent anyway, which makes your coffee flip
- 31:45Speaker 9: and one hundred rand or something.
- 31:49Speaker 2: This is very awkward to me. You know that. The
- 31:51Speaker 2: thing is that that that Yoko percentage thing. It's in
- 31:54Speaker 2: front of you over there, and you're almost looking at
- 31:56Speaker 2: at the person, and you know what, without even saying it,
- 31:59Speaker 2: I feel like the paograph there is hi. I value
- 32:03Speaker 2: you taking this coffee from your barista who made it.
- 32:06Speaker 2: You didn't make it, but the barista made it, and
- 32:08Speaker 2: you took it to me this little area that you
- 32:11Speaker 2: did did at your little service area there. I value
- 32:14Speaker 2: that ten percent, twenty percent, thirty percent, forty percent, And
- 32:18Speaker 2: you're like that person gets to witness the value in that,
- 32:21Speaker 2: they get to witness how much you value them to
- 32:23Speaker 2: their face. Oh that's where it gets awkward.
- 32:25Speaker 4: Not only that, but it's always the day when you
- 32:28Speaker 4: have seventy five people behind you that they want to
- 32:32Speaker 4: turn the screen around.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Yes, how much do you really value people?
- 32:35Speaker 10: Mean?
- 32:35Speaker 8: Now me?
- 32:36Speaker 2: Now, whatever person are you? Tell me? Are you a
- 32:38Speaker 2: ten percent person or a forty percent person? You tell
- 32:41Speaker 2: people behind you and tell me you're dear waight tron
- 32:44Speaker 2: act yeah.
- 32:47Speaker 9: Blah, but I put the ten percent anyway, because I
- 32:50Speaker 9: feel obliged.
- 32:51Speaker 2: It's so awkward, it's so orcs. No, I got you.
- 32:55Speaker 2: It's very ok anyway. No, thanks for sharing, No, thank you, no,
- 33:00Speaker 2: thank you for saying that. You see, I'll never get
- 33:01Speaker 2: awkward hearing that. That's amazing. Thank you. I love that,
- 33:04Speaker 2: Yo Mina, you enjoy, have a beautiful day. And yeah,
- 33:07Speaker 2: what are those things man that Africans find really awkward? Cliche?
- 33:13Speaker 2: It does? Indeed, Amy Chass sing Mega Groove feels like
- 33:16Speaker 2: a mazzansy on your show Flashdrive KFM ninety four point five.
- 33:19Speaker 2: If you just stepped in, I was mentioning. There's a
- 33:21Speaker 2: list of things that South Africans are notoriously very awkward about,
- 33:25Speaker 2: things like saying no to plans, confronting somebody, talking and meeting.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Small talk with strangers is on this list. Voice notes
- 33:31Speaker 2: versus typing, debates, leaving a group chat, splitting the ball.
- 33:34Speaker 2: There are a couple of others, including when you get
- 33:37Speaker 2: that percentage tip at a Yoko machine when you're paying
- 33:40Speaker 2: for coffee. That's one of those, and a bunch of
- 33:42Speaker 2: others that you need to hear that I will play
- 33:44Speaker 2: out for you a little later. There's also a couple
- 33:46Speaker 2: of voiceles that came through as well. I know you called.
- 33:48Speaker 3: You know what's another awkward situation.
- 33:51Speaker 11: I don't know if it's only in South Africa that
- 33:53Speaker 11: way it's really awkward, or if it's just for me.
- 33:56Speaker 3: But when somebody's food, don't theyaste a lick comment?
- 34:00Speaker 2: How do I not tell you know your food is
- 34:02Speaker 2: a liquor?
- 34:03Speaker 1: I must eat it, that's mad, but eat.
- 34:12Speaker 5: The hosts were too stuny to speak, but I feel
- 34:20Speaker 5: like that's like an unspoken rule.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Of South Africa.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Oh we'll just eat it.
- 34:25Speaker 2: There's been many times I've gone over to anybody's place
- 34:28Speaker 2: and I know for a fact this beans. They've like
- 34:30Speaker 2: they burnt something, and you know when you burn something
- 34:33Speaker 2: at the bottom of a potter sany that comes straight
- 34:35Speaker 2: through the meal. But they left it there because there
- 34:37Speaker 2: was no time to get anything else. And now you're
- 34:39Speaker 2: tiling on the stuff and you can, like you taste
- 34:41Speaker 2: the carbon and then you not still have to go.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Thank you very much for having me. This was delicious,
- 34:46Speaker 2: Thank you so much. Auntie really enjoyed it.
- 34:50Speaker 4: Or sometimes you eat food from someone who has a
- 34:52Speaker 4: heavy end and now I must be like, oh, it's so.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Salty, but you bring in the salt. Yeah, this is delicious.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Think you very much, This is amazing, you know, just yeah,
- 35:04Speaker 2: I need to know this recipe. Yes, get you. Do
- 35:07Speaker 2: you have water here?
- 35:09Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 35:09Speaker 2: Water?
- 35:10Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 35:10Speaker 7: Water?
- 35:11Speaker 3: Do you have a little bit of money?
- 35:12Speaker 2: It's a curry?
- 35:13Speaker 5: No no, no, no, no, no no, no thirsty yeah, put
- 35:19Speaker 5: the flavors somewhere else.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Dear me, all right, please, if there's anything else that
- 35:23Speaker 2: you believe that South Africas find really awkward, you can
- 35:27Speaker 2: share on that WhatsApp line and just give me a moment.
- 35:29Speaker 2: The script's coming away when I am hall of Fame,
- 35:31Speaker 2: then I dish it's a script? Will I am hall
- 35:34Speaker 2: of Fame? On your flash drive? KFM ninety four point five.
- 35:37Speaker 2: The other things that South Africans find really awkward? I
- 35:40Speaker 2: shared a list with you that featured some bangers on here,
- 35:43Speaker 2: including saying no to plans, splitting the bowl, leaving a
- 35:47Speaker 2: group chat, sending food back. In fact, on the food
- 35:50Speaker 2: back thing as well, there was a quick message that
- 35:53Speaker 2: came through take a listen.
- 35:54Speaker 3: You know call.
- 35:55Speaker 12: The reason I don't send food back is because I'm
- 35:58Speaker 12: worried when they brewing it back again that they would
- 36:01Speaker 12: have spatten it or something. So no, I don't send
- 36:03Speaker 12: food back, but I'll never go back to the restaurant
- 36:06Speaker 12: if it is really bad.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Valid. Wow, Okay, what about this one.
- 36:13Speaker 11: People who are against voice noting, or just people who
- 36:16Speaker 11: are against the fact that they cannot screenshot of voice
- 36:18Speaker 11: night and send it to someone.
- 36:19Speaker 7: That's proof.
- 36:23Speaker 2: However, if you go onto your WhatsApp settings, you can
- 36:26Speaker 2: click this a little button that allowed to transcribe. Then
- 36:29Speaker 2: you have a paper trail anyway, sorry, that's trails. But
- 36:36Speaker 2: I can send me a voice that you think it.
- 36:38Speaker 3: Can disappear, Well it can if you mumble.
- 36:41Speaker 2: I'm gonna transcri well I have seen in the transcription,
- 36:44Speaker 2: then it believes banks exact blanks. I've literally seen uncomma
- 36:48Speaker 2: and then it just blank for two lines and you
- 36:51Speaker 2: realize the person. Okay, okay, cool, No, thank you. Another
- 36:59Speaker 2: one that came through. I hate confronting. People would rather
- 37:01Speaker 2: walk away another Hi, guys to call in and cancel reservations.
- 37:08Speaker 2: They don't like that. They find it very very awkward.
- 37:11Speaker 2: How about this, I'd like.
- 37:12Speaker 3: To add one.
- 37:13Speaker 12: Something that's super awkward. You know, with all this tapping
- 37:16Speaker 12: these days, you don't put your pen in as often
- 37:19Speaker 12: as you do so when you're buying items. So now
- 37:22Speaker 12: I've forgotten what my pen is and then I sit
- 37:24Speaker 12: there for like five minutes trying to work out what
- 37:26Speaker 12: my pen is for my card to pay for my stuff,
- 37:28Speaker 12: and I find it very awkward. I'm going to like
- 37:30Speaker 12: try and go through my bag and see if I've
- 37:34Speaker 12: written it down somewhere, and I've done that plenty times.
- 37:37Speaker 10: Very very awkward.
- 37:39Speaker 2: I have to go into my banking app in and
- 37:41Speaker 2: do all those things there that.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Touches on Another awkward thing of like when you're trying
- 37:44Speaker 4: to put the coins away in your purse and then
- 37:46Speaker 4: there's a person waiting there ready to come to the counter.
- 37:49Speaker 4: So now instead of putting the coins away, I'm just
- 37:52Speaker 4: trying to remember what my pen is.
- 37:54Speaker 2: You know what I mean when coins, It's been a
- 37:58Speaker 2: very long time. I haven't had coins in my hand for.
- 38:00Speaker 3: That, you know what I'm saying.
- 38:01Speaker 4: You're like putting something away in your wallets and the
- 38:03Speaker 4: next person's trying to come to the counter.
- 38:05Speaker 2: And got you sure MTRs touched on something very very sensitive?
- 38:12Speaker 2: Do you need to put down something you should do?
- 38:13Speaker 2: Are you sitting South Africans find this very awkward. MTR says,
- 38:20Speaker 2: giving two rand to KFC add hope, especially when you don't,
- 38:27Speaker 2: you almost feel like the food tastes different if you
- 38:29Speaker 2: don't add hope. It's not crispy enough, doesn't this singer
- 38:34Speaker 2: doesn't have enough? If I added hope, it would have
- 38:38Speaker 2: been better. Yeah, there's a muss that says your food
- 38:41Speaker 2: tastes different when you add hope versus not.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Oh, you know what, it's a missing hope.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's the that's the flavor. Okay. This one
- 38:55Speaker 2: is definitely one of the cores of African things. The
- 38:58Speaker 2: most awkward thing for South Africans sitting in traffic in
- 39:01Speaker 2: front of you as a bucky for the Owens and
- 39:04Speaker 2: they just staring back at you and you have no
- 39:08Speaker 2: idea where to put your face. You just have to
- 39:10Speaker 2: confront smile if you need to, or do a like
- 39:14Speaker 2: a blinking contest. You blinks first, No, they don't blink.
- 39:17Speaker 2: That's the thing you always lose, which is fine.
- 39:19Speaker 11: Here's another one call the awkward thing for South Africans
- 39:23Speaker 11: is when you go to someone for a brill and
- 39:26Speaker 11: they're busy destroying your meat and telling them to take
- 39:29Speaker 11: your meat off the brier because they're destroying the meat.
- 39:32Speaker 11: People tend to just chow whatever they get served. So
- 39:36Speaker 11: I ended up just not taking steak to my friends
- 39:38Speaker 11: because they just don't know to bry it and I
- 39:40Speaker 11: can't get it at them all to tell them that
- 39:43Speaker 11: they are terrible brier.
- 39:45Speaker 2: I think that approaching the you're a bad brier topic
- 39:49Speaker 2: is a huge awkward moment for many South Africans. And
- 39:51Speaker 2: that's a very key thing, Thank you, Brendan, because especially
- 39:54Speaker 2: when you bring a rabbi to a bride and you
- 39:58Speaker 2: trust people with those tongues in their end and it
- 40:00Speaker 2: returns to you. Right, And how is it that they
- 40:03Speaker 2: cooked the steak more inside than outside is beyond me?
- 40:09Speaker 2: How did you do that?
- 40:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not even well done. It's congratulations.
- 40:17Speaker 2: There's a confetti that pops up. How did you like
- 40:20Speaker 2: a steak? Oh? My word, no, Cassidy, it is.
- 40:32Speaker 3: Great, kind eyes.
- 40:34Speaker 2: It's weekend time.
- 40:36Speaker 3: But one thing that is extremely awkward to me.
- 40:41Speaker 8: Is like it's almost like Cassidy's thing, but like when
- 40:44Speaker 8: you wave to someone that you thought of someone else
- 40:47Speaker 8: and then you realize it's not them, but they casually.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Wave back, or if you're the person who's getting waved
- 40:55Speaker 4: at Ricky?
- 40:56Speaker 2: You know, it's really awkward man, And maybe it's just
- 40:57Speaker 2: a me thing. But when someone comes up and go like, waste,
- 41:00Speaker 2: how are you men? Don't you remember me? Yeah? Come on?
- 41:06Speaker 2: And then you have to investigate and it's like, okay,
- 41:09Speaker 2: tell you, tell you what? And then they challenge you
- 41:11Speaker 2: to see you and I do recognize the person, but
- 41:14Speaker 2: I don't know where I've met them and connected with them.
- 41:16Speaker 2: And then they say to me, let me take you
- 41:18Speaker 2: back two thousand and nine. You're doing a broadcasts?
- 41:21Speaker 3: Should I remembered?
- 41:22Speaker 11: Then?
- 41:23Speaker 2: I was walking with my daughter and I walked past
- 41:25Speaker 2: and I waves at you. You see, you don't remember
- 41:27Speaker 2: people walk past and waves at me? How do I even?
- 41:32Speaker 2: Doesn't matter? Apparently you're gonna, oh, Simone, sorry.
- 41:35Speaker 3: To keep you waiting.
- 41:36Speaker 2: I know you're on the line. Hello, Hi, okay, sorry.
- 41:41Speaker 2: I mean you're a South African, You're used to it.
- 41:43Speaker 2: You've been to home affairs anyway, right, Simone, awkward moments
- 41:47Speaker 2: for South Africans' what's one you want to add to
- 41:49Speaker 2: the list?
- 41:50Speaker 6: Oh?
- 41:51Speaker 8: List that particularly for parents for the moms. Right, so
- 41:54Speaker 8: now you are casually making plans for like the next day.
- 41:57Speaker 8: So so you're going to go to a for pizza
- 42:00Speaker 8: or for the spur whatever it is, and like you've
- 42:02Speaker 8: budgeted because you know you're only an X amount of children,
- 42:05Speaker 8: so you know what, like what how much money to
- 42:08Speaker 8: be world? One of these cabbage children come and be like, oh, mom,
- 42:13Speaker 8: can frey also go with us? Don't freaky saydy right there?
- 42:18Speaker 8: Also are you mommy?
- 42:20Speaker 9: And then your.
- 42:21Speaker 8: Cos know, and then the mommy's like, oh that's sound nice.
- 42:24Speaker 8: Then you're like, yeah, it's fine, and then she says
- 42:27Speaker 8: is there anything Freaky must bring worse? And then you're like,
- 42:30Speaker 8: oh no, it's okay. Can't you want to bring out
- 42:33Speaker 8: my nice what your gout? So?
- 42:37Speaker 11: Like, son is that?
- 42:39Speaker 2: Can I just encourage you just for the sake of
- 42:42Speaker 2: our entertainment And then hopefully someone's recording one day. Man
- 42:45Speaker 2: when they want to bring freaky with please shout that.
- 42:48Speaker 2: I want to see it on camera somewhere. I wanted
- 42:50Speaker 2: to go viral. So many people need to see someone
- 42:52Speaker 2: really articulating their feelings in the most pure and authentic way.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Local woman crashes out over yes.
- 42:59Speaker 2: This is this is gonna please do that for me,
- 43:01Speaker 2: especially just the way you said that, Like I want
- 43:05Speaker 2: that to happen on the camera. I wanted to happen.
- 43:07Speaker 8: You know what, you know what, no refects for your bunny.
- 43:11Speaker 8: They think like they lost seventy nine working days. No, no, doesn't, no, no,
- 43:16Speaker 8: it doesn't. Just order like a Nazo meal. No, but
- 43:22Speaker 8: I was gonna want it, mais.
- 43:24Speaker 2: It's never mine's. Let's add freaky, not add.
- 43:26Speaker 3: Hope and the colotonic and lemonade.
- 43:29Speaker 8: Come on now on the side.
- 43:33Speaker 2: And like frickies, like that's three foot But I was
- 43:37Speaker 2: eating so much.
- 43:38Speaker 8: Unemployed and frey unemployed.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Yeo, geus. I know it's tough out here.
- 43:45Speaker 3: This is very real.
- 43:47Speaker 2: I know Simon's trouble because the thing is right, when
- 43:49Speaker 2: when my kid had parties and invited people, why is
- 43:51Speaker 2: it that one of the people that you invite one
- 43:53Speaker 2: of those kids and invite to your party. Let you
- 43:55Speaker 2: say it's the spur.
- 43:56Speaker 9: They might not afterward.
- 43:57Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, but listen to this. I'm sure you
- 43:59Speaker 2: know I've feel and it's not because I am who
- 44:01Speaker 2: I am and I work where I work, right, but
- 44:03Speaker 2: I have a feeling that there's always that one person,
- 44:05Speaker 2: not freaky. Let's just say the kid's name is Storm. Okay,
- 44:09Speaker 2: how is that on that particular Saturday that now, oh
- 44:12Speaker 2: but Storm's cousins were sleeping over exactly.
- 44:15Speaker 3: I know that.
- 44:17Speaker 8: I know that now I was two cousins coming out.
- 44:20Speaker 2: I don't know Storms two four geus And you know what,
- 44:29Speaker 2: let's not forget what is going to be a memorable moment.
- 44:34Speaker 2: It's going to be a moment on this show, yo, Simon.
- 44:38Speaker 8: Really want god?
- 44:42Speaker 2: Oh what Hi? What's your name?
- 44:45Speaker 1: Ley?
- 44:48Speaker 2: No, it's fine, Riley, check your house. Freaky this guy.
- 44:56Speaker 5: No.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Enjoy enjoy the long weekend, and thanks all for listening
- 44:59Speaker 2: to the show, my friend, thank you very much. Oh
- 45:03Speaker 2: that is so cool, love Simon, thanks for sharing. You
- 45:08Speaker 2: know what, South Africans, we are awkward, but we are authentic.
- 45:13Speaker 1: World four five.
- 45:18Speaker 2: It is the return of Otto Engle Breath, welcome back.
- 45:21Speaker 2: How are we feeling on this pre public holiday.
- 45:24Speaker 11: I'm mister, we're feeling good.
- 45:25Speaker 12: We're feeling good.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Great stuff. Do you have a lot of assignments this
- 45:28Speaker 2: long weekend or are you going to take a bit
- 45:30Speaker 2: of a break. M I'm actually going to finish them
- 45:34Speaker 2: all tonight so that I can take a break. Okay,
- 45:37Speaker 2: you know what, I love the fact that you have
- 45:38Speaker 2: good time management. You're willing to sacrifice one evening for
- 45:41Speaker 2: a couple. That is good thinking, my man, pure amazing student,
- 45:46Speaker 2: chartered accountant, actuarial scientist. In fact, that should hire otto, right,
- 45:52Speaker 2: let's do that. I love that. However, you do have
- 45:55Speaker 2: an opponent. This evening works in HR. Please welcome Jody
- 46:00Speaker 2: from the United States of Platical.
- 46:02Speaker 9: Hello, Jody, Hi cal I GUESSI hi hi.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Plata Clover is a beautiful area. Have you been there?
- 46:11Speaker 2: Have you falted there? Well? It is different there is it?
- 46:14Speaker 2: It's crisp, okay, very crisp.
- 46:16Speaker 4: My favorite part about going to Plata Cloff is going
- 46:18Speaker 4: on the road yep the yah, because it's fun to.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Say yes it is yep, yep, yep. Jody, you work
- 46:25Speaker 2: in HR. Do you love your job?
- 46:27Speaker 9: I do?
- 46:28Speaker 2: I do? Actually just as a I do as a
- 46:32Speaker 2: little question to you, how many people ask for leave
- 46:35Speaker 2: this stuck Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and today, like in the
- 46:38Speaker 2: middle of these public holidays. How many people ask for
- 46:40Speaker 2: leaving your company?
- 46:41Speaker 8: Well, I was one of the people that asked for
- 46:43Speaker 8: leave during this week.
- 46:45Speaker 9: Smart, but I'm not in that part of HR. I
- 46:48Speaker 9: mean onboarding like being.
- 46:50Speaker 2: I got you I got you. I'm very familiar with onboarding,
- 46:54Speaker 2: of boarding, snowboarding, surfboarding. It's very very nice. Not walter
- 47:00Speaker 2: boarding anyway. Yeah, so chick your Jody. Good luck to
- 47:06Speaker 2: you because Otto is a formidable opponent. Otto. Do you
- 47:09Speaker 2: want to go first or second?
- 47:12Speaker 10: I think they'll stick with second.
- 47:13Speaker 13: Don't fix what's not broken?
- 47:15Speaker 2: Oh look at you go? All right, Jody, he says,
- 47:18Speaker 2: not broken. Maybe you're gonna break the streak today. Who knows.
- 47:20Speaker 2: You've got five questions ahead of you and thirty seconds
- 47:23Speaker 2: to answer them today. Your flash word is OC, as
- 47:26Speaker 2: in oh C or oh c K. Yesterday was AC,
