- 0:08Speaker 2: This is the Sports Bass.
- 0:09Speaker 1: The Eagles have made a trade Michael Carter from Duke
- 0:13Speaker 1: and a seventh round pick to the Jets for John
- 0:16Speaker 1: Betchie from Alabama and a twenty twenty seven to sixth
- 0:20Speaker 1: round pick are heading to the Jets. What does it
- 0:23Speaker 1: all mean? Let's bring in Jeff Boscher from the Inside
- 0:27Speaker 1: the Birds podcasts, which you can get on all podcasting
- 0:30Speaker 1: platforms just search Inside the Birds. Who joins us as
- 0:33Speaker 1: this news just comes down. Michael Carter, a corner who
- 0:37Speaker 1: is you know, signed to some pretty big money. Has
- 0:40Speaker 1: specialized mostly as a sluckef But I think what most
- 0:43Speaker 1: people liked about Michael Carter coming out of college at
- 0:46Speaker 1: Duke was his versatility, his ability to play both. But
- 0:49Speaker 1: what is the messaging here? You trade Mechi not a
- 0:52Speaker 1: big factor. Obviously you get Carter in return. Is this
- 0:56Speaker 1: a guy that factors in your mind immediately on this defense?
- 1:01Speaker 2: I think he can. I think immediately is a vague question.
- 1:06Speaker 3: I mean, I don't think they're gonna come out on Wednesday,
- 1:10Speaker 3: our Thursday of next week when they start practice for
- 1:13Speaker 3: their Monday night game, and all of a sudden, Michael
- 1:16Speaker 3: Carter is in the starting lineup.
- 1:17Speaker 2: You know that it doesn't work that way.
- 1:20Speaker 3: They have to see what they've got in him.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Health is always a case with Michael Carter. He's battled
- 1:27Speaker 2: some injuries.
- 1:27Speaker 3: He's only played four games this year, so they have
- 1:30Speaker 3: to first make sure that he's good to go and
- 1:33Speaker 3: gonna be fine. But Mike, you know, the first thing
- 1:36Speaker 3: I thought when I saw the trade report was that
- 1:41Speaker 3: Michael Carter has played the slot quite a bit throughout
- 1:44Speaker 3: his career with the Jets, maybe even with the Cardinals.
- 1:46Speaker 3: I'm not exactly sure. I haven't seen too much Cardinals tape,
- 1:50Speaker 3: but he's played the slot, and this is an opportunity.
- 1:54Speaker 3: If the Eagles believe he can excel in the slot,
- 1:58Speaker 3: then to move Cooper to Gene outside in not just
- 2:02Speaker 3: base but Nickels just a full time outside cornerback for
- 2:05Speaker 3: this year, not for the future, for this year, and
- 2:09Speaker 3: that might be their best course of action as opposed
- 2:11Speaker 3: to trying to see what to Corean Bennett's got, see
- 2:15Speaker 3: if they can get Killer Ringo to better see if
- 2:17Speaker 3: there's a corner on the trade market, which you know
- 2:19Speaker 3: is very difficult to bring in a corner on the
- 2:22Speaker 3: trade market without giving up a whole lot in return.
- 2:25Speaker 2: This might be their best course of action for the
- 2:27Speaker 2: rest of the year.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, obviously you said he probably doesn't play
- 2:31Speaker 1: maybe on Monday night against the Jets or excuse me,
- 2:34Speaker 1: against the Packers. But he's out there. But you know,
- 2:37Speaker 1: a guy who got a pretty good deal three years,
- 2:39Speaker 1: thirty million dollars. At one point, you would think that
- 2:42Speaker 1: the Eagles and Joe Douglas drafted in. Joe Douglas is
- 2:45Speaker 1: now here. I'm sure there's some intel of saying, hey,
- 2:47Speaker 1: this is a guy that can come in and play
- 2:49Speaker 1: for you pretty quickly. I thought it was interesting yesterday
- 2:52Speaker 1: when or I guess it was Tuesday, which was yesterday.
- 2:56Speaker 1: By the way, that eighteen inning game really screwed me up,
- 2:59Speaker 1: all right, So yes, but when Vicdangio was like, I
- 3:02Speaker 1: got minuscule input on Hollie Roseman making moves, the next
- 3:07Speaker 1: day they get him a corner. So it's just them saying, hey,
- 3:11Speaker 1: we really got to go get something, and let's do
- 3:13Speaker 1: it before you know, the trade deadline. So we can
- 3:16Speaker 1: get him in here during the bye we can get
- 3:17Speaker 1: him up to speed.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why you make the trade now. And by
- 3:21Speaker 3: the way, let me let me hit the reverse button,
- 3:23Speaker 3: and thank you for not embarrassing me publicly. I did
- 3:25Speaker 3: it myself. Michael Carter did not play for the Cardinals
- 3:29Speaker 3: this past year.
- 3:29Speaker 2: I'm doing that thence here.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the running back and they both happen to
- 3:33Speaker 3: be with the Jets at one point. But yeah, so
- 3:36Speaker 3: this Michael Carter is coming over from the Jets as
- 3:39Speaker 3: a cornerback.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I'm not. I'm now got my brains correct.
- 3:43Speaker 3: And again, he played the slot there, so and yes,
- 3:46Speaker 3: the reason why you would want to bring him in
- 3:48Speaker 3: is because you now have some time you can get
- 3:52Speaker 3: it familiar with the playbook throughout the bye week.
- 3:54Speaker 2: It just gives you a little bit of a head start.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Now, it's not like he's out there practicing because the
- 3:58Speaker 3: team is probably away during the for at least a
- 4:00Speaker 3: few days, but it certainly gives him the opportunity to
- 4:04Speaker 3: get a head start on the playbook. And again, you know,
- 4:07Speaker 3: there's there's a lot of fact finding that's got to
- 4:10Speaker 3: come from the Eagles and from Michael Carter over the
- 4:14Speaker 3: first few days he's with the team.
- 4:16Speaker 1: So where like, do you think the Eagles would be
- 4:20Speaker 1: against moving Cooper? Now? He has played both bass and nickel,
- 4:26Speaker 1: so he's moved to the outside at times. But do
- 4:29Speaker 1: you think that they like him playing in that nickel
- 4:32Speaker 1: when called for or would they be okay if they
- 4:35Speaker 1: found someone they're comfortable.
- 4:36Speaker 2: With, you mean okay with somebody else if like.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Obviously there's not a guy that they feel more comfortable
- 4:44Speaker 1: with that they keep moving him back there instead of
- 4:47Speaker 1: just saying you're gonna stay at this spot. But he's
- 4:49Speaker 1: a big factor for them in the run game playing
- 4:51Speaker 1: that nickel slot. I know victors don't like to call
- 4:54Speaker 1: them slots, and he likes to call them right.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I think that that's the point trying to
- 5:00Speaker 3: make about the fact finding Mike, because there's no question
- 5:04Speaker 3: and I'm already getting people, you know, reaching out to
- 5:06Speaker 3: me on Twitter of some of the things I said.
- 5:08Speaker 3: There's no question that Vic wants Cooper, likes Cooper de
- 5:12Speaker 3: Gene in the slot, and he probably views him there
- 5:15Speaker 3: long term in the slot too, because he's so impactful.
- 5:19Speaker 2: But this isn't about long term.
- 5:20Speaker 3: It's about right now and what's best for the defense,
- 5:23Speaker 3: and they've gotten by over the last two weeks off
- 5:26Speaker 3: playing Adri Jackson Orchille Ringo, right, and really the opponents
- 5:31Speaker 3: haven't targeted him too much. I think that's that's because
- 5:34Speaker 3: we're talking about Carson Wentz, who is very erratic right
- 5:36Speaker 3: and injured, and then Jackson Dart. So then it's going
- 5:40Speaker 3: to turn to Jordan Love and Jared Goff pretty soon here,
- 5:42Speaker 3: and I don't think they're going to get away with it.
- 5:44Speaker 3: So what they can do is see in practice how
- 5:48Speaker 3: things go.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Is Michael Carter good enough.
- 5:51Speaker 3: In the slot as a slot defender, as a run defender?
- 5:55Speaker 3: Does he do the things that good slots can do
- 5:58Speaker 3: that it makes sense to move Cooper to Gene outside. Yes,
- 6:02Speaker 3: you might weaken yourself a little bit in the slot,
- 6:05Speaker 3: but you might improve yourself even more on the outside.
- 6:09Speaker 3: And that's what VIC has to figure out, and figure
- 6:12Speaker 3: it out pretty soon, because, like I said, the gantlet
- 6:15Speaker 3: starts right over again with the Packers and the Lions.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I have no idea if Phil he'll be ready to
- 6:19Speaker 2: play Carter in the slot at that point, but.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I do want to emphasize, because VIC said yesterday it
- 6:26Speaker 3: is press conference that Cooper to Gene is too valuable
- 6:29Speaker 3: in the slot to they've considered moving him outside, but
- 6:32Speaker 3: he's just too valuable. But later in the conference someone
- 6:35Speaker 3: asked him about, well, what would it take or something
- 6:38Speaker 3: of that line.
- 6:38Speaker 2: He said, well, we would have to solve the slot issue.
- 6:41Speaker 3: So even though Vic said that Cooper to Gene is
- 6:43Speaker 3: too valuable in the slot to move them out, we
- 6:46Speaker 3: have to acknowledge that they talked about the fact that
- 6:49Speaker 3: they have considered it. They've already played him outside in
- 6:52Speaker 3: bass downs and that what's the biggest impediment to moving
- 6:56Speaker 3: him outside was the fact that they didn't have someone
- 6:59Speaker 3: that they were comfortable with in the slot.
- 7:02Speaker 1: That's what I was asking before, is like, hey, we
- 7:04Speaker 1: would move Cooper out there. We like him there, but
- 7:06Speaker 1: if we found someone that could handle that role. The
- 7:10Speaker 1: versatility that Cooper brings, he talked about it. He could
- 7:12Speaker 1: play safety, he could play outside corner, he could play
- 7:14Speaker 1: nicol They I just wonder if he values him so
- 7:18Speaker 1: much more in this Swiss Army knife role or would
- 7:21Speaker 1: he prefer to just lock him in on the outside
- 7:24Speaker 1: if he had someone that was serviceable. So far, they
- 7:27Speaker 1: haven't had that guy, not even close.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's why I'm very careful in my wording,
- 7:32Speaker 3: even when I'm on social media. I am saying this
- 7:35Speaker 3: is a good solution for now, for the short term.
- 7:38Speaker 3: It would not surprise me if next year, you know,
- 7:41Speaker 3: and we're far from that, but Cooper de Gen right
- 7:43Speaker 3: back there in the slot, and they may have somebody
- 7:45Speaker 3: they made draft a corner in the first round who's
- 7:47Speaker 3: outside or second round. So yeah, I think VIC was
- 7:51Speaker 3: pretty clear, and I don't think VIC was being cooy
- 7:54Speaker 3: or trying to mislead people by saying how important Cooper
- 7:57Speaker 3: to Gene is this defense in the slot, and probably
- 8:01Speaker 3: in the future, if they can upgrade the outside corner,
- 8:04Speaker 3: he'll probably go back there.
- 8:05Speaker 1: What I think is important for the listeners to also
- 8:08Speaker 1: come in on and the people watch it on YouTube
- 8:10Speaker 1: is Carter was drafted by Sala and that regime. He
- 8:14Speaker 1: fit the solid defense better than he's fitting the Glen defense.
- 8:17Speaker 1: And he's been banged up, but he's a guy who
- 8:19Speaker 1: has been you know, a tackler who can make those plays.
- 8:23Speaker 1: And I figure Joe Douglas, who drafted him, said hey,
- 8:26Speaker 1: this might be the answer to some of our issues here.
- 8:28Speaker 1: We can move Cooper out if we get a player
- 8:30Speaker 1: like this.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Right, of course, Joe Douglas is really the one who
- 8:33Speaker 3: drafted him in the Jets, so Row knows him better
- 8:35Speaker 3: than anybody.
- 8:36Speaker 2: And you know, I mean, there's a really long line of.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Great tackling cornerbacks to come out of Duke University.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Mike, I mean, we we could spend all day talking
- 8:45Speaker 2: about Michael Carter. I'm making a joke there, but yeah,
- 8:51Speaker 2: I don't know. I honestly think that we've.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Seen this before with trades, where you get a talent
- 8:58Speaker 3: and you try your best to see if it works
- 9:00Speaker 3: and if it's not, if they don't see him as
- 9:04Speaker 3: a great slot and they don't want to put Cooper
- 9:07Speaker 3: to gen outside. For Michael Carter, it's okay because there's
- 9:10Speaker 3: not tons of financial ramifications to this, right he had
- 9:13Speaker 3: his extension with the Jets, of the money sort of
- 9:15Speaker 3: gets trained to them. I saw a report where he's
- 9:17Speaker 3: even waiving five million dollars or injury clause. And then
- 9:21Speaker 3: you know, now, if you might like him in your dime,
- 9:24Speaker 3: if you want to keep Cooper and Nicol, you might
- 9:26Speaker 3: play more dime and just keep to Coreyan Bennett. If
- 9:28Speaker 3: that's the flavor of the week to Corean Bennett stays outside,
- 9:31Speaker 3: it gives them at very least optionality and improvement in
- 9:36Speaker 3: their secondary because the guy's a good player, even if
- 9:38Speaker 3: it doesn't wind up being that he's the slot and
- 9:40Speaker 3: Cooper to gen moves outside for the year.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 9:43Speaker 1: So obviously one of the questions at the trade deadline
- 9:45Speaker 1: edge rusher corner. I don't know that this is the
- 9:47Speaker 1: end answer the answer, but they went out and got
- 9:50Speaker 1: a corner today. Michael Carter is the acquisition and they
- 9:55Speaker 1: also get a seventh round pick from the Jets in
- 9:58Speaker 1: exchange for John Metchi and a twenty twenty seven six
- 10:01Speaker 1: round pick. The Mechi thing just never worked out. They
- 10:03Speaker 1: got him in this trade and he thought, hey, this
- 10:06Speaker 1: guy who was a first round pick has a lot
- 10:08Speaker 1: of talent. How can we use him. They designed one
- 10:11Speaker 1: play for him and he was terrible on kick returns.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, the Mechi fit going back to when
- 10:18Speaker 3: they got him and.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Adam and I reported on a good.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Player, you know, obviously had a battle cancer early in
- 10:24Speaker 3: his career, but it never it never sort of made
- 10:28Speaker 3: a ton of like they needed this guy, right because
- 10:31Speaker 3: he's mostly a zero receiver and you already had John Dotson,
- 10:34Speaker 3: and you already had Why can I Devonte Smith? They
- 10:40Speaker 3: were getting good, good rookie play from a surprisingly good
- 10:43Speaker 3: rookie play from Darius Cooper, and it just I didn't.
- 10:46Speaker 3: They don't throw the ball to anybody other than Brown
- 10:49Speaker 3: or Smith enough to you think make it essential. And
- 10:53Speaker 3: remember they actually traded for him before Johnny Wilson got hurt.
- 10:56Speaker 3: I think it was the day that he arrived is
- 10:58Speaker 3: the day Johnny Wilson got hurt training camp.
- 11:01Speaker 2: So it wasn't like he was traded for to replace.
- 11:04Speaker 3: It was just an opportunity to bring in a guy
- 11:06Speaker 3: who had some talent and let's say sort of you
- 11:09Speaker 3: know this might think could be wind up the same thing.
- 11:11Speaker 2: It doesn't cost them a whole lot. And if he
- 11:13Speaker 2: doesn't make any impact, no big deal.
- 11:15Speaker 1: No, and listen, uh, it doesn't cost him a lot.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Metchi a guy who they were not using at all.
- 11:20Speaker 1: And you just basically flipped back end draft picks here,
- 11:23Speaker 1: so you didn't even have to like give up you know,
- 11:26Speaker 1: a middle round drafters. You just gave up the player
- 11:28Speaker 1: because the Jets are saying, all right, we need a
- 11:30Speaker 1: wide receiver so badly. Will take the shot with the
- 11:32Speaker 1: guy who has some talent, and we'll give you a
- 11:35Speaker 1: guy that really isn't fitting into what we're doing here.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, And in some sense, I think that.
- 11:42Speaker 3: You're going to see a lot of player for player
- 11:43Speaker 3: trades more in the future because the trade market for
- 11:47Speaker 3: really good players, especially on the deadline, it gets to
- 11:50Speaker 3: be absurd, right.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I mean you see guys moving for pretty high picks.
- 11:55Speaker 3: I mean the Eagles once trained in a third round
- 11:56Speaker 3: pick for Golden Tate, and I know he caught that
- 11:59Speaker 3: touchdown against the which was on a rub route that
- 12:01Speaker 3: like you could have caught Mike.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Gil It wasn't it was a scheme to touchdown. It
- 12:05Speaker 2: wasn't like he was he did anything all that special.
- 12:07Speaker 3: But and then he was gone off to the Giants
- 12:09Speaker 3: the next year, and then you think, I give him
- 12:11Speaker 3: a third round pick for that can give They give
- 12:13Speaker 3: up a fourth round pick for Janard Avery. So at
- 12:17Speaker 3: this point it almost seems like the way the trademarket
- 12:20Speaker 3: is at the deadline, it's so inflated.
- 12:22Speaker 2: It's better if you can just give up.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Something low cost to get something low cost that you
- 12:26Speaker 3: think has upside and can help you.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Well, and One thing, too, is everybody is assuming that
- 12:32Speaker 1: Michael Carter, who's played almost eighty percent of his snaps
- 12:34Speaker 1: from the slot, he has played outside corner as well.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I guess the Eagles can try to give him a
- 12:40Speaker 1: run there at practice see how he fits in with
- 12:42Speaker 1: the other guys. But this could be the first door
- 12:45Speaker 1: opening to Cooper Degene kind of moving more full time
- 12:49Speaker 1: to that outside corner spot. They might have seen enough
- 12:51Speaker 1: through eight games, all right, we just got to put
- 12:53Speaker 1: our best guy there. What's more important the outside corner
- 12:56Speaker 1: or that nickel spot.
- 12:59Speaker 3: It depends on who you facing. I honestly believe that.
- 13:02Speaker 3: I mean again, over the last two weeks, it's been
- 13:05Speaker 3: more important to have a good Nichol because Nichols are good,
- 13:09Speaker 3: supposed to be good tacklers. Cooper de Jean's great he
- 13:11Speaker 3: blitz from the slot which caused a sack when Dark
- 13:15Speaker 3: stepped up and right into Jordan Davis. But when you're
- 13:18Speaker 3: when you're facing Jordan Love and you're facing Jared Goff
- 13:22Speaker 3: right and you've got great, i mean great outside weapons
- 13:26Speaker 3: on both of those teams, if you feel like your
- 13:28Speaker 3: slot can.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Just handle the coverage and tackle well enough.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Then you don't want to, and you don't want your
- 13:35Speaker 3: adri Jackson or Jacoreyan Bennett or Killey Ringo exposed to
- 13:40Speaker 3: guys like Matthew Goldener Dubs or or Jamison Williams or
- 13:44Speaker 3: you know whoever it is that's gonna be out there.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I'm on Rassain Brown, who kind of moves around. Then
- 13:49Speaker 3: it might be more important to you to be stronger
- 13:51Speaker 3: on the outside, all.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Right, Jeff Boscher Football at four from the Inside the
- 13:54Speaker 1: Birds Podcasts Inside the Birds dot Com.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Hey, by the way, real quick, that's a great point
- 13:59Speaker 3: that you're making. This doesn't have to be a permanent
- 14:03Speaker 3: for this year, even move for Cooper to Gene. It
- 14:06Speaker 3: could be now you have enough corners so you can
- 14:09Speaker 3: be matchup based, they might find that, Yeah, we like
- 14:12Speaker 3: Michael Carter in the slot against teams X, Y and Z,
- 14:15Speaker 3: but when we face some other teams, we're going to
- 14:18Speaker 3: go back to putting Cooper to Gene in the slot
- 14:20Speaker 3: and live with either Bennett or Jackson or whoever you know,
- 14:26Speaker 3: Ringo or Michael Carter outside.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I definitely think that that's a possibility.
- 14:30Speaker 1: So question was I just about to ask you before
- 14:34Speaker 1: you rudely interrupted me notes, Oh what is your thoughts
- 14:40Speaker 1: on how this Dean Campbell thing shakes out here? Do
- 14:43Speaker 1: we just get to a point where, look, John Campbell
- 14:46Speaker 1: is not going to get the snaps that he was getting.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Well, I always say that the coaches give you the
- 14:52Speaker 2: answers to the test. You know.
- 14:53Speaker 3: That's something me and Adam talk about a lot, and
- 14:55Speaker 3: that actions speak louder than words.
- 14:57Speaker 2: And it's very glaring that.
- 15:00Speaker 3: I think Campbell played what he played the fewest snaps
- 15:04Speaker 3: that he's played all year by by a lot, but front, Yeah, yeah,
- 15:11Speaker 3: twenty STAPs, which was like forty percent of the defense
- 15:13Speaker 3: or something, after playing no fewer than I think ninety
- 15:17Speaker 3: percent of.
- 15:17Speaker 2: The snaps in every single game. So was that matchup base?
- 15:21Speaker 2: Was it a chance to get n Kobe Dean more reps.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Against a bad team that they knew they were going to,
- 15:26Speaker 3: you know, beat after the second quarter. It's very interesting
- 15:29Speaker 3: that they didn't against the Vikings when they brought Na
- 15:33Speaker 3: Kobe in, they moved Jehad Campbell down in the five
- 15:37Speaker 3: to two front, and then I think he played a
- 15:38Speaker 3: few snaps at edge in nickel, But against the Giants,
- 15:41Speaker 3: they didn't play him at edge in the nickel at all.
- 15:44Speaker 3: And then you heard Vic say he kind of had
- 15:46Speaker 3: a choppy week, which I don't think was smearing Jihad Campbell.
- 15:49Speaker 3: I think it's very difficult in this defense when you
- 15:51Speaker 3: haven't practiced it to play nickel end because it involves coverage.
- 15:55Speaker 3: You saw Patrick Johnson had a struggle there with camp'scademy, right.
- 15:58Speaker 3: I mean it's not just go get the quarterback, and
- 16:00Speaker 3: all he has practiced since he got here is basically
- 16:05Speaker 3: nickel off the ball linebacker and then sometimes base five
- 16:08Speaker 3: to two defensive end to stop the run. So I
- 16:11Speaker 3: can understand why Vic just didn't trust him as a
- 16:14Speaker 3: natural four to two look for nickel edge yet.
- 16:19Speaker 2: But we'll see as that goes on. And you know,
- 16:20Speaker 2: you have Brandon Graham coming back, Nolan Smith coming back.
- 16:24Speaker 2: I can't imagine that Johd's just gonna suddenly just sit
- 16:27Speaker 2: behind Nikobe Dean as well as he's.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Sixty three percent of the snaps. By the way, josh
- 16:32Speaker 1: Uja played sixty percent of snap so they obviously already
- 16:36Speaker 1: value as a pass rusher more than they do Campbell. Ye,
- 16:39Speaker 1: so yep, And then you've got Graham and Nolan Smith
- 16:43Speaker 1: coming back. So both of those guys coming back j
- 16:46Speaker 1: playing thirty one snaps, Dean getting thirty three, and I
- 16:48Speaker 1: would only imagine Dean's not gonna go down, right, He's
- 16:51Speaker 1: probably go up.
- 16:53Speaker 2: We'll see. I don't know that, Mike. I think that
- 16:55Speaker 2: that's where the danger is.
- 16:56Speaker 3: And assuming what they did one week in a game
- 16:59Speaker 3: that they were winning pretty considerably after you know by
- 17:02Speaker 3: halftime third quarter, is going to stick for the rest
- 17:07Speaker 3: of the year. I don't think that there's a reason
- 17:09Speaker 3: to just take Johod Campbell off the field. I think
- 17:12Speaker 3: Nikobe's looked pretty good. But it's not like Johid Campbell
- 17:14Speaker 3: has looked bad. Miss the Simon's done anything wrong either.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I mean, he was playing ninety percent of the snaps
- 17:21Speaker 3: each game up until this last game. If you were
- 17:23Speaker 3: not playing well, certainly Vic could have played like dime,
- 17:26Speaker 3: he could have used Trotter. I mean, he could have
- 17:28Speaker 3: done something if he didn't think John was playing well.
- 17:30Speaker 1: And it's not that Dean's not playing well either. It's
- 17:33Speaker 1: like he's playing well. You're not like, what are you doing?
- 17:35Speaker 1: This guy like was playing well and this guy's Dean's
- 17:38Speaker 1: playing well. So it's it's just just like, hey, you
- 17:41Speaker 1: don't lose your job because of injury unless you stink well.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Usually you don't lose your job when you're a first
- 17:47Speaker 3: round pick and you're playing well.
- 17:48Speaker 1: And that's why that's the surprising part about this whole thing.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Well, and that's why I'm not committed to the fact
- 17:53Speaker 3: that he's lost his job yet.
- 17:54Speaker 2: We'll have to see what happens coming out of Green Bay.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Again, that that was a Giants team that they were
- 18:00Speaker 3: starting to build a pretty good lead on.
- 18:02Speaker 2: They had control of that.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Game from the beginning, so it could have been just
- 18:05Speaker 3: a very good opportunity to get Na Kobe Dan out there,
- 18:08Speaker 3: continue to get get him reps, get him back in shape.
- 18:11Speaker 2: So I don't want to read too much into one game.
- 18:14Speaker 1: All right, Well, football a four, of course, a trade
- 18:17Speaker 1: happens here. Michael Carter is here, John Mehchi is not
- 18:21Speaker 1: Mechi not really a factor. I would assume Carter becomes
- 18:24Speaker 1: a factor, Eagles win the deal.
- 18:26Speaker 2: That's what I got there. All right, sounds good. I'll
- 18:29Speaker 2: take your word for.
- 18:30Speaker 1: It, Jeff Boucher. I'm sure the team over Inside the
- 18:35Speaker 1: Birds dot Com and the Inside the Birds podcast will
- 18:38Speaker 1: have more on the fit of Michael Carter in the
- 18:40Speaker 1: Eagles defense. Hey, a trade during the bye week. It's
- 18:43Speaker 1: a perfect bye week, the trade week. It fits right
- 18:46Speaker 1: in there perfectly. The Eagles will be getting ready for
- 18:48Speaker 1: the Packers. We'll talk more about that next week with
- 18:50Speaker 1: Jeff Boucher here on Football at four.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Thanks Man, you got it, Mike. Thanks
