- 0:01[SPEAKER_01]: Fuck ya!
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: Get ready for some wins!
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: Each week my guess will bring bold, executable, intrinsic, and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it till you see it.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's a practice, not a perfect, let's get started.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'd be a babe happy Friday.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: We made it.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: We did it over here.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: I am so excited for these short episodes because they're here to inspire you and honestly, sometimes we were kids like, we're doing like live for Fridays and now it's kind of like, okay, we made it.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: We survived.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot going on, just a lot always going on.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: There's probably been that way.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: But these episodes are here to remind you that they're still things that you can celebrate.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: They're still good stuff that's happening.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: You're still doing things, even if around you, it just feels like chaos and overwhelmed.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: So I steer a one of yours, a one of mine also some inspiration from something that I saw that we can all think about celebrate or get mad about.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: And then a little mantra for you to take with you on your weight and hopefully it's something you can share with a friend or run a post it.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I would love to your share your Wednesday to send them into the beepod.com slash questions.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: But this really inspired me.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: So this is really, really cool.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: 16 incarcerated fathers were reunited with their daughters for a daddy daughter dance held inside the prison.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: freaking, the coolest thing, the person's system like bothers me so much because we don't do a really good job.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like rehabilitating people, making people feel like human being.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: We treat them like animals and we want them to act like a human and like mass is how hard it needs is like a real thing.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: So this is so cool, and it's,
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: So it says, for a few sacred hours, San Quentin didn't feel like prison.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: The prison chapel transformed into a holy ground, draped walls, soft music, a red carpet, floral sender pieces replaced, concrete and coldness for a month was hard to believe we were still in a maximum security prison.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: Outside 16 incarcerated fathers stood waiting some in suits for the first time, others trembling as they tied ties with unsaid hands they waited for years for this moment some decades than the doors open.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: There's actually a whole documentary on YouTube.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: Now I got to go watch it, but the daughter stepped on the red carpet little girls and bright dresses grown with hearts full of aching hope one by one they walked into arms that had long to hold them.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: Monocryte, father's fellow their knees and tears, Predacles reunited Colin hadn't held his daughter in 20 years.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: Karynton wept as his daughter's hugged him for the first time, Stephen dance with his bundle of joy, fence it right a handwritten letter to his daughter Autumn, filled with love, apology and redemption.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't just beautiful.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: It was sacred.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: It was the gospel tangible trembling alive.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: You made a happen.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: You gave 21 daughters, dresses, flights, hotel rooms.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: Coursage is a meal and a memory they'll never forget.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: You brought heaven to present.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: You reminded these men.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: They are still dads and one of these girls.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: They stole a daughters.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: So it wasn't just event.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: This was healing.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: This was hope.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: And it's holy.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, there's the handle that did this is God behind bars or doing another father-daughter dancing and goal of person this year.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: You can donate $10 a month or anything to help for pay for taxes, family travel dresses, food, and so much more.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: We can go to God and behind bars.com.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like, ever you feel about religion.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I just think that this is just like the most impactful thing for people in their lives.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like, people.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: make mistakes, people are put in situations that things happen and our justice system is really not always just and so I just am, this just really melts in my heart and like how cool, how cool and I'm from California at past.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: We're seeing Quentin as we drive riot and it's like just not a place you want to be and like that fact that they took the time to do this to make people feel like the human being so they are and really help establish relationships that like can be helpful for for re-establishing these people in society if they ever get to like it's humongous it's a huge deal
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: So anyways, that is what inspired me other than that.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: There can be inspiration, right?
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'll wind up yours.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: Melissa Hargrove, someone I was been at around in our lives for a long time and just really inspires me all the time.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: She said, wanted to share an on-going win.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: After our elevate retreat in March, I reconnected with my OG partner Lisa.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: We decided to make a commitment to get together and practice.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: Our original goal was to find as much time as we could and do duets with Leslie.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: After the first lesson, we knew we needed more.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: We have more to at schedule through September, go us and taking it a step further.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: We decided to try to do our best to meet weekly, even just to do a Jo's gym or just move.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: Today, we opted to do the June chair class.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: It takes to, and I'm pretty sure I can speak for us both, that we dusted that piece of equipment, and we have a new reignited passion for it.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you, Lisa, for joining time to work with me.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: and just proud that we have been able to keep the commitment to our practice.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: I told her today I wouldn't have not done a class together if we had, it would have taken me two hours to do it because I would have had to pause, put my cat, get a drink, maybe change the laundry and so on, but holy cow, when you flow at a breast pace without pause, it fills amazing.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: So thanks again, Lisa for keeping us on point in LL for an inspiring class.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I want to add to this win, because you know what, Melissa Hargrove, your partner, Lisa, put a win up that adds to this.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: So here we go.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: And adding on to that win, this really set Melissa, I wanted to add to this win this week after already doing two plus classes two they Melissa joined me for our scheduled practice session.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: I am so very grateful for her commitment to our practice together.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, so much
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: that she did not cancel as I was looking forward to moving with her.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: We agreed to do a 30-minute session, which was a win-win for both of us.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: Then I had the opportunity to walk and do a stair climbing session in 95-degree heat at lunch.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: Glad we could support each other and can find the time and the win in any situation.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: Way to go, ladies, so this is why be it till you see it exists.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: This is what we're here to do.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: Bring people together.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: Bring women together.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: you can, right?
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: You can have counterparts that like will show up even when you're like, I don't really want to do this.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: And this happens all the time.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure I'll have a win coming up with some of our other OPC members who literally get together every Wednesday 8 a.m.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: to do the work out that there are members of.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: You know, sometimes it does take that kind of village and it's okay to take that village time.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's okay to ask for help.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's okay to have an accountability buddy.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: But this is really important to me when you make an accountability, but you guys need to be completely honest and thoughtful of the other person so that you don't start canceling here and canceling there.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, it's just 30 minutes.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_01]: No, show up for each other.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: It helps the other person make time for themselves as well.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: So I really love this lady.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for inspiring us to move our bodies, but also to connect with other people in our lives and realize like we need each other too.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: We need each other too.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: So my win.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: I had a win to share with you.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to save that win for next week.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's already a little delayed to share with you.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to share it because a win is actually I wish I'd brought here tomorrow as our tenure at wedding anniversary.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: 10 years, holy moly.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: When we're celebrating together, I think we'll actually be together for it because we're in Chicago.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: So we're celebrating together in real life.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: Usually we're on a plane and like,
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: Because of the time travel distance, like the third disappears in our lives, and so multiple anniversaries have them together, but this one, we get to do it together doing something we love, with people we love to be around Matt Plyse on Torrentcha Kago.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: I know you're like 10 years how is that?
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's a win.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's a win, not because like it's like a struggle to say married to him or anything like that.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: But just that we like,
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: continually make time to be with each other.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: And to make sure that we're doing things together that are fun, and we challenge each other in really amazing ways.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: He challenges me to put things away in an actual spot.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: I challenge him to be on time.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: You know, these are what I mean.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: These are, these are wins for two ADHD people in the same household, but truly I'm so blast, I'm so grateful and recently and we were sharing how we mix people, I don't know how we met, maybe that's a podcast episode for a different day, but whenever you'd to tell it.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: Now that we've been married 10 years, there's something really cool about like looking back on the people that we were Who chose each other and we chose to do something really scary and that's a win So here we are celebrating 10 years of of marriage and it's not that the 10 years of marriage What I'm celebrating for us.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like kind of celebrating our past selves making really huge decisions that
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: could have easily been written off and like not made a priority.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: So huge thanks to Ratham Lessley in the early 30s for the things that they did, but also just for all the people in our lives who have been friends along the way who've become family.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: And that's our win.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: 10 years of marriage.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: I love you.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: You're amazing.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let me get you an affirmation to repeat with you on yourself, on your drive, on your walk.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: There's room for me at the table.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: There is room for me at the table.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: There is.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: Take a seat.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes we think, oh, I don't want to bother people.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I don't have enough accolades.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, who am I to do this?
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: My neighbor recently is at the G7.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, oh my God, don't write my thing down.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like, who am I to be here?
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: And like what he actually is there to do, it's like change the lives of people in this world.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: And the politicians that they're there need to hear what he has to say.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: There's room for you at the table.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: There's room for me at the table.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: Love you so much, and you know what you do?
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: Until next time, be it till you see it.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I got for this episode of The Beat Tell You See A Podcast.
