- 1:14Speaker 6: going to forego all of the normal intros this morning
- 1:18Speaker 6: because we got breaking news.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Let's go to Jeff Jenkins in the newsroom.
- 1:20Speaker 7: Good morning, Jeff, Hey, Good morning Dave. Yes.
- 1:22Speaker 8: Of course, we've been following this since Saturday up at
- 1:26Speaker 8: the Rolling thunder mine near Swiss in Nicholas County, when
- 1:30Speaker 8: that mine flooded and seventeen miners were able to escape,
- 1:34Speaker 8: but the foreman there was not able to get out,
- 1:37Speaker 8: and so a rescue effort has been underway, mostly concentrated
- 1:43Speaker 8: on pumping out water from the flooded mine, and Governor
- 1:46Speaker 8: Morsey just tweeted this about less than ten minutes ago
- 1:50Speaker 8: that they had gotten enough water out at six o'clock
- 1:54Speaker 8: this morning to be able to enter the mine. And
- 1:57Speaker 8: then they did find the mind norman, and he did
- 2:01Speaker 8: not make it. Steve Lipscomb is his name, and so
- 2:05Speaker 8: the governor putting out a release about that. Let me
- 2:09Speaker 8: just quote a little bit of that. The team began
- 2:10Speaker 8: their search, examining every section as they advance underground. At
- 2:14Speaker 8: seven thirty seventy am, one two man team located the
- 2:17Speaker 8: body of missing minor foreman Steve Lipscomb cruiser worked tiresly
- 2:21Speaker 8: around the clock in twelve hour shifts to search for
- 2:24Speaker 8: their colleague, and then he went on to say, quote,
- 2:27Speaker 8: today we grieve for this terrible tragedy and honor the
- 2:30Speaker 8: life of one of our own. This morning's news is
- 2:33Speaker 8: absolutely heartbreaking, and so the governor and put out that statement.
- 2:39Speaker 8: We've got the story and you can read the full
- 2:41Speaker 8: statement at wv metronews dot com. But yeah, you knew
- 2:46Speaker 8: it was going to be You're hoping for the best,
- 2:49Speaker 8: rite but knew, you know, the longer it went, the
- 2:51Speaker 8: more difficult it might be. And we don't know, you know,
- 2:54Speaker 8: the circumstances around this time. Out later, you know there'll
- 2:57Speaker 8: be an investigation Diddy drowned or whatever or you know
- 3:00Speaker 8: happened there tragically. But yeah, not a not a not
- 3:06Speaker 8: a positive ending there for him, And we don't have it.
- 3:09Speaker 8: We don't have where he's from. With this release we
- 3:12Speaker 8: had we had learned that he's I think from the
- 3:14Speaker 8: Elkview area, that's what we I don't have that confirmed yet,
- 3:18Speaker 8: but that's some of the things we've heard in leading
- 3:21Speaker 8: up to this. But he was an experienced mind who's
- 3:24Speaker 8: a former there I think he had at least twenty
- 3:26Speaker 8: years in the minds. So we'll find out more about that.
- 3:28Speaker 8: But that's just just just breaking this morning.
- 3:30Speaker 6: All right, and of course the talk line guys, and
- 3:33Speaker 6: we'll have more. We'll have it, and we'll have more
- 3:35Speaker 6: on midday as well. And this you know, the governor
- 3:37Speaker 6: I think at this time was scheduled to speak at
- 3:39Speaker 6: this energy someone which is going on in Charleston, So
- 3:42Speaker 6: I don't know if that's been delayed or what. Of course,
- 3:44Speaker 6: he and the first lady making that announcement earlier today.
- 3:47Speaker 4: We'll keep you.
- 3:47Speaker 8: Updated well, you know, and just from all the stories
- 3:50Speaker 8: that we have done, you know, they were as you
- 3:53Speaker 8: look at it. I mean, they did everything they could, right,
- 3:56Speaker 8: I mean, they had the resources there very quickly. They
- 4:00Speaker 8: started pumping that water out very quickly. Uh started that
- 4:04Speaker 8: on Saturday, you know some of those things on Saturdays.
- 4:06Speaker 8: It was so much water, uh that that had filled
- 4:09Speaker 8: the mining Exactly why it filled it? How come there's
- 4:12Speaker 8: that much water. That's all going to be part of
- 4:13Speaker 8: the investigation obviously coming up. But uh, but again just
- 4:19Speaker 8: for mister thoughts and prayers or with mister Lipskin's family
- 4:22Speaker 8: right now and those who knew and fellow fellow workers.
- 4:25Speaker 4: And that community too. And there's something you know.
- 4:27Speaker 6: I come from a cold wont mining background, as do
- 4:30Speaker 6: many of our listeners to this show. It is a
- 4:34Speaker 6: it is a close knit family that people that aren't
- 4:37Speaker 6: in it may not necessarily understand, right, And and so
- 4:42Speaker 6: the entire state of West Virginia's screaming at this time.
- 4:44Speaker 8: Yep, yes, okay, if I go to the website, you
- 4:46Speaker 8: can read that. You can read the governor's full statement there,
- 4:48Speaker 8: and then we'll obviously have more during the day here.
- 4:51Speaker 6: All right, Jeff, thanks a lot breaking news, and again,
- 4:53Speaker 6: uh uh, it was the it was the news that
- 4:56Speaker 6: we didn't want to hear, obviously. And the governor is
- 5:02Speaker 6: speaking I understand at this energy summit right now, and
- 5:05Speaker 6: he's he's at the podium as we speak right now.
- 5:09Speaker 6: So we'll have more on that on talk line coming
- 5:11Speaker 6: up a little bit later on certainly a Metro news
- 5:13Speaker 6: midday as well. But again, the breaking news coming within
- 5:15Speaker 6: the last fifteen minutes or so from the governor is
- 5:18Speaker 6: that that minor Nicholas County has been found dead.
- 5:22Speaker 4: All right, let us move on.
- 5:27Speaker 6: The phone calls, will get to a little bit later
- 5:28Speaker 6: on if we have any, of course, we always get texts.

- 5:49Speaker 6: is the holiday trunk shows. Visit Bestmaster Taylor dot com
- 5:52Speaker 6: or Tony's Facebook page for more information. Coming up a
- 5:54Speaker 6: little bit later on State Democratic Party chair and Delicate
- 5:57Speaker 6: Mike Pushkin is going to join us. Also, Rob Riel
- 5:59Speaker 6: is to join this from her sister station ninety six
- 6:01Speaker 6: one KWS talk about next week's Turkey drop that is
- 6:04Speaker 6: happening one week from day on our parking not here
- 6:06Speaker 6: at eleven eleven Virginia Street, Charleston. I want to welcome
- 6:09Speaker 6: to the show now though the Mayor of South Charleston,
- 6:10Speaker 6: Frankmullin Junior, Good morning, sir, Welcome to the show.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Good morning, Thanks for having me always and thank you
- 6:15Speaker 4: for being here.
- 6:16Speaker 6: And you know, I'm going to give you an opportunity
- 6:18Speaker 6: because you you came in at nine o'clock this morning
- 6:22Speaker 6: and we were going to talk about some positive things
- 6:23Speaker 6: in South Charleston. This is certainly not the way we
- 6:25Speaker 6: wanted to start the show today, but I'm going to
- 6:27Speaker 6: give you an opportunity if you would like to say anything,
- 6:29Speaker 6: you know on behalf of the city of South Charleston
- 6:32Speaker 6: about the miner who was found in the c S.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Nicholas County.
- 6:35Speaker 9: Well, you know what what's saying, there's no thought you
- 6:37Speaker 9: hit the nail on the head. I was thinking the
- 6:38Speaker 9: same thing as what you mentioned was that obviously your
- 6:42Speaker 9: your your heart breaks for the family and heart and
- 6:46Speaker 9: bought some prayers go out to the family. But the
- 6:48Speaker 9: whole community, as you mentioned, it's a community. It affects
- 6:51Speaker 9: the whole community. It's such a tight knit group as
- 6:53Speaker 9: you mentioned, and so, yeah, it's a tough day. And
- 6:57Speaker 9: I didn't I just heard it when I walked in here,
- 6:59Speaker 9: and so it was. It kind of hits you kind
- 7:02Speaker 9: of hard, even from South Charleston.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Yeah, it hits you.
- 7:05Speaker 9: It hits you kind of hard so our whole community thoughts,
- 7:07Speaker 9: some prayers would be with the family in that community.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Indeed.
- 7:11Speaker 6: Indeed, and again they're going to have more on that,
- 7:13Speaker 6: the governor speaking now, we'll have more on that coming
- 7:15Speaker 6: up on talk Line with Meadows and Wilson at ten
- 7:17Speaker 6: o six and at Amanda and I will of course
- 7:19Speaker 6: have it in fold of tail coming up after ten
- 7:22Speaker 6: or after noon today on Metro News Midday.
- 7:24Speaker 4: All right, let's get to some other things.
- 7:27Speaker 6: Reason I brought you in here today, I wanted to
- 7:31Speaker 6: let you tell us about some things going on in
- 7:32Speaker 6: South Charleston. Got a lot of exciting things going on.
- 7:35Speaker 6: So just take it from the top. Every time I
- 7:37Speaker 6: turn around, man, I pick up, there's a business opening,
- 7:39Speaker 6: there's a ribbon cutting. Of course, you got the mall projects.
- 7:41Speaker 6: So what do you want to start?
- 7:43Speaker 4: Well, that's that's it.
- 7:44Speaker 9: I mean, we're we're going through it seems like we're
- 7:46Speaker 9: going through a rush here with new business coming to
- 7:48Speaker 9: South Charleston, which is a great thing. A matter of fact,
- 7:49Speaker 9: when I leave your show today, I'm going to another
- 7:51Speaker 9: ribbon cost Okay, going another this morning.
- 7:53Speaker 4: And what is that? In spring Hill? A little Caesars
- 7:55Speaker 4: built a new store in spring Hill. So we're going
- 7:57Speaker 4: to go down and cut the ribbon on that here.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Do they say pizza pieza a ribbon ribbon? Absolutely?
- 8:02Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, But it's a it's a new restaurant in
- 8:05Speaker 9: our city. It's it's Little Caesars was already there, but
- 8:07Speaker 9: they built a new restaurant there. So that's what we're
- 8:09Speaker 9: gonna do. But sometimes, Dave, you know I've mentioned this
- 8:11Speaker 9: is these kind of ribbon cuttings. You know, you always
- 8:14Speaker 9: you know, you're took on to depth to get the
- 8:15Speaker 9: new business. And every when you have a business here
- 8:17Speaker 9: that reinvests in your community, that's every bit is important.
- 8:19Speaker 6: Well, and I think mayor it goes to show and
- 8:22Speaker 6: this is a franchise and we love our you know,
- 8:25Speaker 6: we love because they employ a lot of people. We
- 8:26Speaker 6: love our small businesses too, But it's it says something
- 8:29Speaker 6: about South Charleston that the business wanted to say, hey,
- 8:32Speaker 6: we need to we need to pick up our game
- 8:34Speaker 6: a little bit, do a little refurbishing whatever.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Obviously business is good or they wouldn't be doing that. That's
- 8:38Speaker 4: exactly right. And that's what I mean by the reinvestment.
- 8:40Speaker 9: You know, those companies that do that that's a that's
- 8:42Speaker 9: a big deal as well, so we're thrilled with that
- 8:44Speaker 9: as well.
- 8:44Speaker 4: But yeah, we've been calling on kind of a role
- 8:46Speaker 4: and it's not just the Park.
- 8:47Speaker 9: Place, and I think maybe seeing a little bit of
- 8:49Speaker 9: a domino effect of that, which I've said numerous times
- 8:52Speaker 9: over the years, what what what That's going to be
- 8:54Speaker 9: one one thing we're gonna all all see is a
- 8:56Speaker 9: domino effect. What's going on to Park Place. But if
- 8:58Speaker 9: you go speaking of park Place, if you go by there,
- 9:00Speaker 9: you mentioned what's going on. So obviously the Kroger store,
- 9:03Speaker 9: which is going up tremendously fast. They've already moved their
- 9:06Speaker 9: opening date up a month into May of next year
- 9:09Speaker 9: instead of June, so it's really gone well. And there's
- 9:12Speaker 9: three other buildings going under construction there as we speak
- 9:15Speaker 9: as well. Two of them will house about seven businesses.
- 9:17Speaker 9: Of Peace will be fourteen there, and then you have
- 9:19Speaker 9: Mission Barbecue getting ready to start on the corner just
- 9:21Speaker 9: directly across the street from Chick fil A. There will
- 9:24Speaker 9: be the other two buildings I mentioned on how some
- 9:26Speaker 9: of the smaller businesses of three to five thousand square foot.
- 9:29Speaker 9: Although we've announced Sketcher's out coming it's about an eight
- 9:32Speaker 9: thousand square foot be the biggest one of those roofs there.
- 9:34Speaker 9: So Hughy mcgoo's is coming Pizza and Cream, which is
- 9:39Speaker 9: I think a really neat story. You know, we love
- 9:41Speaker 9: all of our businesses coming to park Place, but Pizzas
- 9:43Speaker 9: and Cream is a West Virginia business out of Clay County.
- 9:45Speaker 9: If you google them and see their story is basically
- 9:47Speaker 9: was created out of a brick oven building their property
- 9:50Speaker 9: out in Clay County. So it's a pretty cool story
- 9:52Speaker 9: to have that kind of homegrown business coming.
- 9:54Speaker 4: To park Place. What what is leading all this? I mean,
- 9:58Speaker 4: why are people wanting to come to South Charles Well.
- 10:00Speaker 9: I hope that it's because we have focused from the
- 10:03Speaker 9: day I got elected back in seven. One of the
- 10:05Speaker 9: things that we really wanted to stress was to be
- 10:07Speaker 9: in a business friendly community and all that that implies.
- 10:10Speaker 9: And I hope that that's a big part of it.
- 10:12Speaker 9: I think it is never one thing that it's always
- 10:14Speaker 9: a big package deal why people want to come here.
- 10:17Speaker 9: It's never about taxes only. It's never about you know,
- 10:19Speaker 9: location only or parking only. It's kind of the whole package,
- 10:22Speaker 9: you know, from free parking to our location to our
- 10:25Speaker 9: tax credits. We have in a book for new and
- 10:26Speaker 9: expanding businesses to just our our willingness to serve our
- 10:30Speaker 9: you know, I think our response to business community when
- 10:32Speaker 9: they call us about something. It could be something as
- 10:33Speaker 9: small as a crack sidewalk, but you respond to it.
- 10:36Speaker 9: You don't respond six months from now. You respawn tomorrow.
- 10:39Speaker 9: You know, you know you want to get things done
- 10:41Speaker 9: for them, and get things done quickly. So I think
- 10:43Speaker 9: all that stuff, you wrap it up in a nice bow,
- 10:45Speaker 9: and you make sure it's here to stay.
- 10:47Speaker 10: You know.
- 10:47Speaker 9: That's the other thing, Dave. You can't just do it
- 10:49Speaker 9: for a little while. You have to prove to everyone
- 10:51Speaker 9: it's here to stay. It's not going anywhere. We got
- 10:54Speaker 9: staying power here, and I think people realize now that
- 10:57Speaker 9: we have staying power.
- 10:58Speaker 6: We had a couple of texture for you. One says,
- 11:01Speaker 6: any plans for the old Kroger building?
- 11:03Speaker 9: Yes, the old Kroger building is already backfilled. I can't
- 11:05Speaker 9: make the announcement to who it is right now, but
- 11:08Speaker 9: there'll be two retailers going on there. One of them
- 11:10Speaker 9: will be new to West Virginia. So we're excited about that.
- 11:13Speaker 9: And that's one of the things I stressed from day
- 11:14Speaker 9: one when we did this thing with Kroger Marketplace coming
- 11:17Speaker 9: across the street, was to make sure we backfill Kroger
- 11:19Speaker 9: and not have an empty space over there.
- 11:21Speaker 4: So that's been done. We had a text here.
- 11:23Speaker 6: This was a personal text from a delegate jb Acres,
- 11:26Speaker 6: who said, thank the mayor for helping to coordinate Thanksgiving
- 11:29Speaker 6: meals and a couple of schools in my district.
- 11:31Speaker 9: Now, and thanks JB as well. I mean he texted
- 11:33Speaker 9: me and reached out and kind of got that ball
- 11:34Speaker 9: roll and then so we it's a good program, and
- 11:38Speaker 9: so thank you, JB. I appreciate that. Another team effort.
- 11:40Speaker 6: Another question about the Kroger says that they called it
- 11:44Speaker 6: the Gucci Kroger. Now we got to get this straightened out. Okay, yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 6: Gucci Kroger is out at Ashton Place in Day's Valley.
- 11:51Speaker 6: We had the Pradakroger. Okay, so you guys are going
- 11:54Speaker 6: to have to come up with another name, all right.
- 11:56Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 11:56Speaker 6: I'm not sophisticated enough to come up with something. The uh, well,
- 12:00Speaker 6: we've got to come up with another name, the.
- 12:01Speaker 4: Biggest and best, biggest and best.
- 12:04Speaker 6: But it says that Kroger that they're building South Charleston. Uh,
- 12:07Speaker 6: Are they going to sell weed eaters too?
- 12:09Speaker 4: Because it's huge.
- 12:11Speaker 9: Well, their product line is going to going to go
- 12:13Speaker 9: above and beyond groceries because that's it is a marketplace
- 12:16Speaker 9: and the only one in West Virginia.
- 12:17Speaker 4: So that's kind of why we agree to do this.
- 12:19Speaker 9: When you say above and beyond mare, what's well, they
- 12:22Speaker 9: will sell other things they'll sell if you go to
- 12:24Speaker 9: different marketplaces around I've never been to I've only been
- 12:26Speaker 9: to one in Hilton Head when we've gone down on
- 12:28Speaker 9: a vacation and we went the one down there, and
- 12:31Speaker 9: depending on where it's at, I think is what they sell.
- 12:33Speaker 9: And down hilt Hill all it's all beach and beach
- 12:35Speaker 9: where and those kinds of things that go along with
- 12:37Speaker 9: with that community. But outdoor furniture, clothing, you know, just uh,
- 12:43Speaker 9: just a variety of different things that they'll sell there.
- 12:45Speaker 9: It's almost like a section of the Kroger is almost
- 12:47Speaker 9: like a mini Walmart type situa question.
- 12:49Speaker 4: All right, So Charles and maror Frank Mallins.
- 12:51Speaker 6: We had to catch a little bit short today because
- 12:53Speaker 6: of the breaking news, but I appreciate you being here man.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Thanks so thanks for having me today. Appreciate good things
- 12:57Speaker 4: going on, keep going, keep doing good stuff.

- 16:23Speaker 6: apart by Morgan and Morgan with more than twenty billion
- 16:25Speaker 6: dollars recovered. They believe when you're injured, you deserve more.
- 16:28Speaker 6: Morgan Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. Let me knock
- 16:31Speaker 6: out a couple of texts here South Charleston. It says,
- 16:35Speaker 6: it's called out migration. That's why South Charleston is such
- 16:38Speaker 6: a success. The big news, of course, this morning, just
- 16:43Speaker 6: broke about thirty minutes or so ago. Governor Patrick Morrissey says,
- 16:48Speaker 6: approximately six a m. This morning, water levels and the
- 16:51Speaker 6: rolling thunder mind Nicholas County receded sufficiently enough for rescue
- 16:56Speaker 6: crews to safely enter, and at seven thirty seven this morning,
- 17:00Speaker 6: a one one two man team located the body of
- 17:03Speaker 6: the missing minor. He was a foreman by the name
- 17:04Speaker 6: of Steve Lipskomb. We don't have any further information about that,
- 17:09Speaker 6: but his body was recovered, uh this morning. So stay
- 17:14Speaker 6: Democratic Party chair and delicate.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Mike Pushkin is here. Mike, I want to start with that.
- 17:17Speaker 6: Give you an opportunity to weigh in on the death
- 17:20Speaker 6: of mister Lipskim And they discovered his body this morning.
- 17:22Speaker 7: Yeah, that's just devastating news. I'm so sorry to hear
- 17:27Speaker 7: about that young man who was just going to work
- 17:31Speaker 7: to earn a living and has this sort of tragic end. Uh,
- 17:37Speaker 7: And you know, deep in that mind and uh, you know,
- 17:40Speaker 7: I'm just so sorry for his family and friends and
- 17:42Speaker 7: loved ones. It's devastating.
- 17:45Speaker 6: Yeah, and it's a time when you know, we can
- 17:48Speaker 6: have our differences, and we frequently do in West Virginia
- 17:50Speaker 6: and across the country. But one of the things that
- 17:54Speaker 6: I think I like to think anyway, maybe I'm gonna,
- 17:56Speaker 6: you know, an optimist here, but one of the things
- 17:59Speaker 6: that I like to think, uh, is that West Virginians
- 18:03Speaker 6: can put things aside for a moment, you know, and uh,
- 18:07Speaker 6: and to grief because that was we don't know anything
- 18:10Speaker 6: about his name. He was a twenty year mind form.
- 18:11Speaker 6: And we do know that we know his name, presuming
- 18:14Speaker 6: family and things of that nature. And Republican Democrat, liberal
- 18:17Speaker 6: conservative on this issue, we can all come together. We all,
- 18:20Speaker 6: we we all, we all, we all grieve that.
- 18:22Speaker 7: It absolutely doesn't doesn't matter what your ideology is in
- 18:25Speaker 7: times like like this. This is just uh, a guy
- 18:29Speaker 7: who is just going to work to make a living
- 18:31Speaker 7: and met this tragic end.
- 18:32Speaker 8: Uh.
- 18:33Speaker 7: And it's it's it's horrible, and it's just it's a
- 18:35Speaker 7: very dangerous job. And we keep that in mind. Yeah,
- 18:38Speaker 7: they're just you know, putting on those you know, their
- 18:40Speaker 7: boots every day, going to work to make sure that
- 18:42Speaker 7: America has power and uh and oftentimes risk their lives
- 18:47Speaker 7: and doing so.
- 18:47Speaker 6: And we don't want again. There will be a full
- 18:49Speaker 6: investigation as to what happened as far as how this happened,
- 18:53Speaker 6: and and you know, uh, you know, the did he
- 18:56Speaker 6: suffered It was a sudden We don't we're not really
- 18:58Speaker 6: worried about that.
- 18:59Speaker 14: Now.
- 18:59Speaker 4: We can get into that a little.
- 19:00Speaker 6: Bit later as there should be. But yeah, and there
- 19:02Speaker 6: and there will. The family deserves that and everybody deserves that.
- 19:07Speaker 6: But uh, I think the fact that, knowing what I
- 19:09Speaker 6: know about the coal mining industry, if he were a
- 19:12Speaker 6: if he was a foreman, and this has happened so
- 19:14Speaker 6: many times and other mind tragedies in the past, foreman's
- 19:17Speaker 6: are normally the last ones outbody. They take care of
- 19:20Speaker 6: their men, uh first and then And I don't know
- 19:22Speaker 6: if that's what happened in this case, but if I
- 19:24Speaker 6: were a betting person, I would say that's probably what
- 19:27Speaker 6: happened in this case. But well, we'll find all that
- 19:29Speaker 6: letter tragic news. Yeah, definitely, And indeed I do want
- 19:32Speaker 6: to mention here just uh, just real quickly. You and
- 19:36Speaker 6: I had an opportunity last night to attend a great
- 19:38Speaker 6: event here in Charleston, the Charleston Urban Works URBANID Awards,
- 19:42Speaker 6: honoring some great businesses and individuals doing good stuff here
- 19:44Speaker 6: and Charleston. Great to see the late Kitty Duly honored,
- 19:47Speaker 6: as well as the big award going to Adam Crason
- 19:49Speaker 6: of ZMN Architects and Engineers Woody Woods and I got
- 19:53Speaker 6: the MC the event. It was a great event last
- 19:55Speaker 6: night and you we weren't hanging out together just so
- 19:58Speaker 6: you know, we just happened to be there.
- 19:59Speaker 7: That's the same.
- 20:00Speaker 4: We hung out a little bit, and we did hang
- 20:01Speaker 4: out a little bit last night.
- 20:02Speaker 7: Bit.
- 20:03Speaker 4: But it was a great event for Charleston.
- 20:04Speaker 7: It is and it always is. And Charleston Urban Works
- 20:07Speaker 7: does such a great job of lifting up small businesses
- 20:10Speaker 7: and you know, businesses that have been here a while,
- 20:12Speaker 7: new businesses, and that's a great night each year for
- 20:15Speaker 7: the urban Ide Awards to honor the city of Charleston
- 20:18Speaker 7: and the people that make this city so great. The
- 20:21Speaker 7: mayor was in attendance, of course, she presented. Uh, the
- 20:24Speaker 7: you know, the urban Ide Award that you mentioned went
- 20:26Speaker 7: to Adam Crayson who zmm does you know you know,
- 20:31Speaker 7: rebuilt the Charleston Skyline really completely another style of Charleston. Yeah,
- 20:36Speaker 7: and just done great work for the community. And of course, yeah,
- 20:39Speaker 7: we honored Kitty Dooley. Uh unfortunately, you know, posthumously honored
- 20:44Speaker 7: Kitty Dooley that we lost just recently. And what a
- 20:46Speaker 7: great person and an advocate for for Charleston and all
- 20:49Speaker 7: of West Virginia, just you know, people everywhere that she
- 20:53Speaker 7: was a real champion for justice and and uh, you
- 20:55Speaker 7: know somebody I considered a good friend and somebody I
- 20:58Speaker 7: often called for advice on things, and she is going
- 21:01Speaker 7: to be missed, but she was definitely deserving of the
- 21:04Speaker 7: honor that she received last night. All right, so the
- 21:07Speaker 7: shutdown is over, Yes, it is for now. For now.
- 21:13Speaker 7: You know, I will say I disagree with the If
- 21:15Speaker 7: you want to come and put up air quotes here,
- 21:17Speaker 7: you can't see them on the radio. Was the strategy
- 21:20Speaker 7: of the seven Democrats and the one Independent that I felt, well,
- 21:27Speaker 7: I think we could have gotten a deal on healthcare.
- 21:29Speaker 7: And that's what's important. West Virginians are set to see
- 21:32Speaker 7: the largest premium increases in the entire country. It's not
- 21:36Speaker 7: just going to affect the folks in the marketplace, because
- 21:39Speaker 7: when you're talking about increases that high, when you have,
- 21:43Speaker 7: you know, a small business owner or an independent contractors
- 21:46Speaker 7: whose premium goes from four hundred some dollars a month
- 21:49Speaker 7: to two thousand some dollars a month, what's going to
- 21:50Speaker 7: happen is they're going to cease to be insured. They're
- 21:53Speaker 7: not going to be Nobody can afford that, and that's
- 21:55Speaker 7: going to pull people out of the pool and cause
- 21:57Speaker 7: everybody's premiums to go up. It is a crime. That's
- 22:00Speaker 7: why it is so disappointing to see this, uh, you know,
- 22:03Speaker 7: this one beautiful bill whatever you want to call it,
- 22:06Speaker 7: which is what we're really talking about. To see that
- 22:08Speaker 7: not just supported by Jim Justice and Shelley Moore Capito
- 22:12Speaker 7: and Carol Miller and Riley Moore, but they were real
- 22:15Speaker 7: champions for it, and it's going to disproportionately hurt West Virginians.
- 22:19Speaker 7: But yes, the the the good news is that you know,
- 22:22Speaker 7: the snap benefits should go out, Federal employees are going
- 22:26Speaker 7: back to work, air traffic controllers going back to work.
- 22:28Speaker 7: It's safer to fly. That's all good news. And also
- 22:31Speaker 7: it brought the House of Representatives back in. And what
- 22:35Speaker 7: did we see yesterday is the House Oversight Committee released
- 22:39Speaker 7: a huge drop of emails that was it was horrible
- 22:44Speaker 7: and just disgusting and put the President in I mean,
- 22:48Speaker 7: placed him at Jeffrey Epstein's house exactly what it said,
- 22:53Speaker 7: spent hours with one of the victims, victims meaning girls,
- 22:58Speaker 7: not young women, but girls who are trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein.
- 23:03Speaker 7: And it shows that the president not only knew about it,
- 23:05Speaker 7: but he was participating in it.
- 23:07Speaker 6: And you know what the Republicans are going to say, though,
- 23:09Speaker 6: is that this was cherry picked, that they that they
- 23:11Speaker 6: that it was just starting to.
- 23:12Speaker 7: Course, they're going to release the they released ten thousand
- 23:14Speaker 7: emails yesterday. Okay. Of course, the ones that people are
- 23:17Speaker 7: talking about are the ones that implicate the you know,
- 23:20Speaker 7: chief executive of the United States. Understood, he's the president.
- 23:23Speaker 7: That's why people are talking about that. But in all
- 23:26Speaker 7: the other emails that were released by the Republicans, there's
- 23:28Speaker 7: nothing in there that exonerates him. He said, And I'll
- 23:33Speaker 7: tell you, I would love to take calls and texts
- 23:35Speaker 7: over this too, because I don't see how you defend this.
- 23:37Speaker 7: I really don't, Okay.
- 23:39Speaker 6: And again, that's one of the things I that I
- 23:41Speaker 6: respect about you, one of the few, I'm kidding. One
- 23:44Speaker 6: of the things I do respect about you is when
- 23:45Speaker 6: you come and you sit down this microphone, you always say,
- 23:48Speaker 6: I'll take phone calls and I'll take texts, So we'll
- 23:51Speaker 6: so they're there are open open phone lines. If you'd
- 23:53Speaker 6: like to talk to mister Pushkin this morning, you are
- 23:56Speaker 6: certainly more than welcome to the shows.
- 23:58Speaker 7: If anything that shows that they're a was a real
- 24:00Speaker 7: relationship between President Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, they were more
- 24:06Speaker 7: than just acquaintance suspense at his house. He says he
- 24:09Speaker 7: kicked him victim and he and he did. The President
- 24:11Speaker 7: did say that he kicked.
- 24:12Speaker 6: Out uh Epstein, Uh, he kicked him off mar A
- 24:16Speaker 6: Lago one.
- 24:17Speaker 4: At one point he said that.
- 24:18Speaker 7: No, his press secretary said that yesterday. The president he
- 24:22Speaker 7: said that for varying reasons, there were some First it
- 24:26Speaker 7: was over a business deal, Okay, then it changed, then
- 24:29Speaker 7: it was still employees. Yeah, because they were taking girls
- 24:32Speaker 7: who worked at mar A Lago and taking them to
- 24:34Speaker 7: Epstein is that And that was in the emails yesterday.
- 24:37Speaker 7: He said he knew about the girls. That's why he
- 24:39Speaker 7: asked uh, uh, I don't know pronounce your name, Maxwell.
- 24:42Speaker 6: Asked her to sorry, had just asked her to asked
- 24:46Speaker 6: her to stop, asked her to stop what taking And
- 24:49Speaker 6: I'm not going to say they're young women.
- 24:51Speaker 4: They're not.
- 24:51Speaker 7: They were girls. They're underage girls and taking them from
- 24:54Speaker 7: mar A Lago to Epstein Island. So that's what he
- 24:57Speaker 7: kicked them out over. There is nothing in there that exonnery.
- 25:00Speaker 7: It's this president all.
- 25:01Speaker 6: Right, Well, if you want to weigh in on it.
- 25:02Speaker 6: You're more than welcome to. I have a text here
- 25:05Speaker 6: for you. It says, can you ask Pushkin if the
- 25:07Speaker 6: Democrats are the Washington generals the Republican's Harlem globetrotters right now,
- 25:11Speaker 6: they seem like paid opposition there to give people the
- 25:15Speaker 6: illusion of choice.
- 25:16Speaker 7: Well, I would say that the Washington Look, I love
- 25:19Speaker 7: the globetrotters, and the Washington generals never win. But I'd say,
- 25:22Speaker 7: look what happened last Tuesday. So I'd say, well, no,
- 25:25Speaker 7: we're not the Washington generals. Okay, not even the Washington commanders.
- 25:29Speaker 7: We've been more than that.
- 25:32Speaker 6: Pushkin would make a better governor than the one we
- 25:35Speaker 6: have now. At least he's from West Virginia to the
- 25:37Speaker 6: texture hard to get right here in Charleston. Somebody's got
- 25:40Speaker 6: you running for governor.
- 25:41Speaker 7: Well we'll talk later. Really, the governor's not up for
- 25:45Speaker 7: re election this year. I'm focused on twenty twenty six
- 25:49Speaker 7: and giving voters choices up and down the ballot, and
- 25:55Speaker 7: we'll see what happens. If you look at what happened
- 25:57Speaker 7: in neighboring Virginia, every single county in virgin and your
- 26:00Speaker 7: trended Democratic last week. So we like our chances here.
- 26:05Speaker 7: The important thing is to give voters choices, and that's
- 26:08Speaker 7: what we plan to do Texas.
- 26:10Speaker 6: Very few people care about any that's talking about the
- 26:13Speaker 6: Ebstein files. I mean, I don't like Trump, but this
- 26:15Speaker 6: isn't even a story and won't move the needle one bit.
- 26:18Speaker 7: I disagree. I think, first of all, we're talking about
- 26:24Speaker 7: children who are victims of sex trafficking. I think that
- 26:28Speaker 7: we should care about this, and I think a lot
- 26:30Speaker 7: of people do care about this. I'll tell you one
- 26:32Speaker 7: person who really cares about it, and that's President Trump.
- 26:35Speaker 7: And that's why he's trying to block the release of
- 26:38Speaker 7: all of this information. That's why he has his FBI director,
- 26:43Speaker 7: Cash Battel, who has come a long way on this
- 26:45Speaker 7: issue since before he became the director of the FBI,
- 26:48Speaker 7: he was screaming for the to release the files. But
- 26:51Speaker 7: now he's singing a different too, now that he's in
- 26:52Speaker 7: a position of power. So Cash Btel and Pam Bondi,
- 26:56Speaker 7: the Attorney General, supposed to be working for us. Apparently
- 27:00Speaker 7: last night they had pulled a member of course, yesterday
- 27:03Speaker 7: they pulled a Member of Congress Bobert into the situation
- 27:09Speaker 7: room to try to coerce her to pull her name
- 27:13Speaker 7: off of that discharge petition, which which she didn't. And
- 27:16Speaker 7: now because they swore in the new congresswoman from Arizona,
- 27:20Speaker 7: they had the required amount of names on the discharge
- 27:22Speaker 7: position to bring a vote to the floor. I will
- 27:25Speaker 7: say I'm disappointed that Carol Miller and Riley Moore did
- 27:28Speaker 7: not sign that petition, but they will have a chance
- 27:31Speaker 7: to redeem themselves because there is going to be a
- 27:34Speaker 7: full vote and you'll see how many Republicans do care
- 27:38Speaker 7: about it for your text her there because there I
- 27:40Speaker 7: think a lot of Republicans are going to vote to
- 27:43Speaker 7: release those files and then will it will move to
- 27:45Speaker 7: the Senate and then we'll see how our senators vote.
- 27:48Speaker 7: We'll see how Jim Justice votes on that. What would
- 27:50Speaker 7: you saybody who was a high school girls basketball coach.
- 27:53Speaker 7: Let's see if he you know, protects you know, the
- 27:57Speaker 7: girls that he used to coach and votes the right
- 27:59Speaker 7: way on And we'll see how she any more capital
- 28:01Speaker 7: votes on this if they released the information. Uh so
- 28:04Speaker 7: these victims can have.
- 28:05Speaker 4: Just what would you say to those that say, look that?
- 28:07Speaker 4: And then and I'm not necessarily.
- 28:09Speaker 6: Agreeing with this, but there will be those that say
- 28:11Speaker 6: that when they're not by an administration that they could
- 28:14Speaker 6: have also released them as well.
- 28:15Speaker 7: Well, not this information that came out yesterday. I don't
- 28:17Speaker 7: believe they had it. And first of all, it was
- 28:18Speaker 7: part of a of a pending court case I believe
- 28:21Speaker 7: against Maxwell. And uh. This this this new data dump
- 28:26Speaker 7: came from the Epstein estate and of course they didn't
- 28:31Speaker 7: have that, you know, before he was murdered, I'm sorry,
- 28:34Speaker 7: before he committed suicide. Uh. And it's just something that
- 28:38Speaker 7: they that they more recently had. But you know what
- 28:40Speaker 7: the point is, it should be released as soon as
- 28:42Speaker 7: they had. It should be released. It should be released now.
- 28:45Speaker 6: And you and you as a state, I don't care
- 28:47Speaker 6: who is on they're going to ask, Yes, I don't
- 28:50Speaker 6: care Republican.
- 28:51Speaker 7: I remember if they're if they're implicated on there, they
- 28:54Speaker 7: should face the consequence.
- 28:56Speaker 4: I respect that.
- 28:57Speaker 6: But Dave Allen showing five eighty LIVEE has brought to

- 29:09Speaker 6: says Pushkin, there's no hope for magas they're so deep
- 29:12Speaker 6: in the cult, there's nothing that will change their minds.
- 29:15Speaker 7: Well, I think a lot of the MAGA movement was
- 29:17Speaker 7: calling for the release of the Emstein files. I mean,
- 29:19Speaker 7: I know Cash Pateel, did, I know jd Vance did,
- 29:23Speaker 7: Pam BONDI did. But they're not all now singing a
- 29:25Speaker 7: different tune. So I think a lot of people that
- 29:27Speaker 7: consider themselves part of the MAGA movement would definitely be
- 29:31Speaker 7: for the protection of children and to bring justice to pedophiles.
- 29:37Speaker 7: So I disagree with that take. I think there are
- 29:39Speaker 7: a lot of people that are that could consider themselves
- 29:42Speaker 7: MAGA that agree with me on this that we should
- 29:45Speaker 7: need to release the files, get all the information that
- 29:47Speaker 7: the cards fall, they where they lie, and prosecute those
- 29:51Speaker 7: who are guilty sex as.
- 29:52Speaker 6: Republicans don't care that the sex abuser is a sex
- 29:54Speaker 6: abuser who party with sex trafficking pedophiles. Republicans would gladly
- 29:58Speaker 6: let Trump abuse their kids, wives, do moms, et cetera.
- 30:01Speaker 6: There's video of Trump partying with Epstein. Trump said it
- 30:03Speaker 6: was fun to party with Epstein. Republicans have no honor
- 30:06Speaker 6: or integrity, says a Texter. All right, somebody sent me
- 30:10Speaker 6: a big graph here. It's really hard for me to
- 30:12Speaker 6: read those on the air. I do, I do appreciate it,
- 30:15Speaker 6: but I'll take a look at that later. Tex says
- 30:20Speaker 6: both parties will be devastated if that list is released.
- 30:24Speaker 7: Release it.
- 30:25Speaker 4: That's what that's released.
- 30:26Speaker 7: I'm a machir of the West Virginia Democratic Party. I'm
- 30:28Speaker 7: for I'll go on the record. Release it everything that
- 30:31Speaker 7: you have.
- 30:32Speaker 6: Texas Florida guy here, tell Mike there's nothing bad in
- 30:35Speaker 6: the files on Trump, because the Democrats would have released
- 30:37Speaker 6: anything bad before the election. The girl of the story
- 30:40Speaker 6: said Trump did nothing wrong, asid Maxwell.
- 30:42Speaker 7: And she's no longer with us. The girl in the story, unfortunately,
- 30:47Speaker 7: she took her own life.
- 30:50Speaker 6: Timbership proposed as a textra to release the Epstein files yesterday.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Democrats blocked it.
- 30:55Speaker 15: There.
- 30:55Speaker 7: Well, that was let's talk about that. He was doing
- 30:58Speaker 7: that so they wouldn't have to go on record. The
- 31:00Speaker 7: Democrats want a roll call vote because people need to
- 31:03Speaker 7: go on the record. We need to know how Riley
- 31:04Speaker 7: Moore votes on this. We need to know how Carol
- 31:06Speaker 7: Miller votes on this. So that was a cowardly move
- 31:09Speaker 7: to try to do a voice vote. I'm in the legislature.
- 31:13Speaker 7: I understand what that means. That means nobody goes on
- 31:15Speaker 7: the record on how they vote, and they can just
- 31:17Speaker 7: cower in the back of the room and not say
- 31:19Speaker 7: anything and let it pass without their vote because they're
- 31:21Speaker 7: afraid of the president. Instead of doing their job and
- 31:24Speaker 7: standing up to protect children, they're afraid of this president.
- 31:28Speaker 7: So no, they need to go on the record, and
- 31:29Speaker 7: that was the right call. We're going to get a vote.
- 31:32Speaker 7: It's it's the House rules. The petition had enough signatures
- 31:37Speaker 7: without Riley Moore's signature, without Carol Miller's signature, because of
- 31:42Speaker 7: they seated the congresswoman who's elected what seven weeks ago,
- 31:45Speaker 7: because they finally seated her, they had enough. Yeah, they
- 31:48Speaker 7: seated her. Yesterday she signed a petition and now there
- 31:51Speaker 7: will be a vote, and it will be a roll
- 31:53Speaker 7: call vote.
- 31:54Speaker 6: Tex says Democrats hid the name of the victim of
- 31:57Speaker 6: the Epstein emails. This is her testimony exonerating President Trump.
- 32:00Speaker 6: They did not want the public to see it. Where
- 32:02Speaker 6: was your demands to release it.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Oliver Biden.
- 32:04Speaker 7: It's nothing in there that exonerates President Trump. If there
- 32:08Speaker 7: was he would be putting it on government websites.
- 32:11Speaker 6: Text says, hold on a second, do you thank god?
- 32:17Speaker 6: There are still a few Democrats that had some common
- 32:19Speaker 6: sense that helped the government to open up. This is
- 32:21Speaker 6: why the Democrats in West Virginia are minority in leadership.
- 32:25Speaker 7: I think the point is the healthcare issue, and Republicans
- 32:30Speaker 7: need to go to the table and I hope they
- 32:32Speaker 7: hold their end of the bargain and take a vote
- 32:34Speaker 7: on extending the subsidies and the tax credits for the
- 32:37Speaker 7: Affordable Care Act. Otherwise a whole lot of West Virginians
- 32:40Speaker 7: are not going to be able to see a doctor
- 32:42Speaker 7: if they get sick. They're going to be the healthcare
- 32:45Speaker 7: will not be affordable for them. When you're talking about
- 32:48Speaker 7: going from roughly four hundred dollars a month, and I've
- 32:50Speaker 7: heard from constituents they told me these exact numbers, around
- 32:53Speaker 7: four hundred dollars a month. With the subsidies, you lose those,
- 32:56Speaker 7: it goes up to over two thousand dollars a month.
- 32:58Speaker 7: Nobody can afford that. Nobody can afford that, and that's
- 33:02Speaker 7: a crisis, and that's what the fight was about. So
- 33:05Speaker 7: I think it was a mistake to go to the
- 33:09Speaker 7: table without you know, without making that getting a promise
- 33:12Speaker 7: of that, because I don't think the Republicans are going
- 33:14Speaker 7: to make.
- 33:15Speaker 6: So you have an issue with the Fetterman and some
- 33:17Speaker 6: of the others. That's what you're saying, right, You don't
- 33:20Speaker 6: you tend to decide. I don't want to put words, but
- 33:22Speaker 6: you tend to decide with some of the.
- 33:24Speaker 7: Other with the majority of Democrats kind of just incentive
- 33:26Speaker 7: but across the Conkamp all right, so we care about people,
- 33:28Speaker 7: let me finish, care about people's access to health.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Let me finish. Text here and I got to get
- 33:32Speaker 4: you on the road.
- 33:33Speaker 6: Text says Dave. Mike needs to get out of politics.
- 33:35Speaker 6: He's like a broken record. Anything to put down President
- 33:37Speaker 6: Trump and the Republicans and the people.
- 33:38Speaker 7: Don't hey read the emails, read what was release and
- 33:42Speaker 7: hadn't come back and tell me that you support that.
- 33:44Speaker 7: It's disgusting.
- 33:46Speaker 4: The Democrats say, this is about protecting children.
- 33:48Speaker 6: The Democrats says, the texture made the United States citizens
- 33:50Speaker 6: suffer for forty three days. Thankful a few Democrats couldn't
- 33:53Speaker 6: torture the citizens anymore and voted to open up the
- 33:56Speaker 6: government Texas. Thank you, Mike Pushkin shame on Congress, unwilling
- 33:59Speaker 6: and able to do their job. As one representative said,
- 34:01Speaker 6: they had a plan for healthcare. To date, they have
- 34:03Speaker 6: done nothing to take away affordable health insurance during open enrollment.
- 34:07Speaker 6: It's cruel and pathetic, pathetic on all.
- 34:09Speaker 7: Of them in there. The Republicans have had fifteen years
- 34:12Speaker 7: to come up with a better plan than the ACA.
- 34:15Speaker 7: Fifteen years and they've had what we say in my culture,
- 34:19Speaker 7: bubcuss bubcus. That's what they first time that's ever been
- 34:22Speaker 7: said on the show. Right, I'm glad I could be
- 34:25Speaker 7: the first great barriers on here. But they've come up
- 34:27Speaker 7: with absolutely nothing. For those of you that don't speak
- 34:29Speaker 7: you it ish out there. It means nothing. They got nothing,
- 34:31Speaker 7: nothing on healthcare. Fifteen years, they've had a chance to
- 34:34Speaker 7: come up with a plan.
- 34:35Speaker 6: All right, two more texts here at Texas. Do you
- 34:37Speaker 6: think that the government should have remained closed?
- 34:40Speaker 7: I think that the Republicans need to come to the
- 34:43Speaker 7: table on healthcare. And I think that Shelley Moore Capito
- 34:47Speaker 7: and Jim Justice and Riley Moore and Carol Miller need
- 34:51Speaker 7: to realize that their state, the state that they are
- 34:54Speaker 7: supposed to be representing, West Virginia is going to be
- 34:57Speaker 7: the most devastated by this failure to provide a plan
- 35:02Speaker 7: on healthcare, to let these subsidies just run out, and
- 35:04Speaker 7: we are going to see premium skyrocket in this state
- 35:08Speaker 7: and a lot of people aren't going to be able
- 35:10Speaker 7: to see a doctor, They're not going to be able
- 35:12Speaker 7: to get preventative care. It is a crisis for this
- 35:14Speaker 7: state and I think it needs to be treated that way,
- 35:17Speaker 7: and these folks need to do something.
- 35:18Speaker 4: My final text.
- 35:20Speaker 6: They were calling for the release when Biden and the
- 35:21Speaker 6: Clintons were thought to be on it. Magas didn't think
- 35:24Speaker 6: Trump was in it because they wear blinders and Republicans
- 35:27Speaker 6: care about children. Question mark, they litigated against funding snap
- 35:30Speaker 6: final Here's.
- 35:31Speaker 7: The proof right here. If this exonerated Trump, he would
- 35:35Speaker 7: be releasing it. Instead, he's doing everything that he can
- 35:39Speaker 7: to block it. He's trying to block it. He's having
- 35:42Speaker 7: his director of the FBI and his Attorney General call
- 35:45Speaker 7: in Lauren Bobert to the situation room, a room that
- 35:48Speaker 7: is reserved for whin there's a war, actual war crisis,
- 35:52Speaker 7: and are calling her into the situation room to try
- 35:54Speaker 7: to bully her and taking her name off of that
- 35:56Speaker 7: petition and thankfully she stood up to them, like a
- 35:59Speaker 7: lot of Repubs lookings are going to do. You're going
- 36:01Speaker 7: to see this, A lot of them are going to
- 36:02Speaker 7: stand up to them because they know it's wrong. This
- 36:05Speaker 7: is about protecting children, that's it. Not about protecting the
- 36:08Speaker 7: President of the United States. Is about justice.
- 36:11Speaker 6: All right, We got to leave it there. Appreciate you

- 39:35Speaker 6: Rolling thunder mine in Nicholas County on Saturday. And you

- 40:34Speaker 6: Obamacare was supposed to be the holy grail of healthcare

- 41:20Speaker 6: it's called your medical insurance.
- 41:21Speaker 4: The skyrocket Medicaid doesn't cover the cost of care, says
- 41:24Speaker 4: a texture. Text says, good morning, Dave.
- 41:26Speaker 6: It's a great morning where I have managed to not
- 41:28Speaker 6: be a pedophile deviant, a skill not shared with Donald J. Trump,

- 41:38Speaker 6: It's the GOP realizing or maybe yet that Epstein is

- 42:08Speaker 6: I'm having a serious throwdown discussion here with the Democratic
- 42:13Speaker 6: Party chair Mike Pushkin, and I look through the window
- 42:16Speaker 6: and there's a giant turkey staring through the glass at me.
- 42:20Speaker 6: And the first thing I thought was, don't do shrooms
- 42:23Speaker 6: before you go on the air, Dave. And then I realized, Okay,
- 42:26Speaker 6: it's Rob Reel and a turkey hat. So of course,
- 42:29Speaker 6: of course I'd be the one to have a turkey hat.
- 42:31Speaker 6: What's interesting about this one stand by for double barrel
- 42:34Speaker 6: to obscure reference. It appears as though the Cocoa Puff's
- 42:39Speaker 6: mascot Sonny had a one night stand with the turkey
- 42:42Speaker 6: Turki Bird from Georgia of the Jungle. That's that may
- 42:45Speaker 6: be the most obscure reverence Upberk, thank you, Resk. You
- 42:47Speaker 6: you won the obscure Championship belt today. So turkey drop
- 42:53Speaker 6: have been one week from today in our parking lot
- 42:54Speaker 6: here at eleven eleven Virginia Street, use and Charleston.
- 42:57Speaker 4: You know the routine by now.
- 42:58Speaker 6: We set up the tents, we set up the vans,
- 43:00Speaker 6: and we send our staff outside as best we can.
- 43:03Speaker 6: We always got somebody out there, but you know there's
- 43:05Speaker 6: that whole radio thing gets in the way sometimes seven
- 43:07Speaker 6: am until six pm. Next Thursday, we're asking people to
- 43:12Speaker 6: bring us turkeys. Just that's the hardest part to get
- 43:15Speaker 6: for the holiday meal is the frozen turkey, because well
- 43:19Speaker 6: it's perishable, and it takes up a lot of space
- 43:22Speaker 6: and it's the most expensive thing. So food banks tend
- 43:25Speaker 6: to do very well this time of year with all
- 43:27Speaker 6: of the non perishable and the side type stuff. But
- 43:30Speaker 6: we want to get turkeys on tables and politics aside.
- 43:35Speaker 6: Even with you know, bills being voted on and signed,
- 43:40Speaker 6: it still takes a while to get a stopped aircraft
- 43:43Speaker 6: carrier to start moving again. And that's what the federal
- 43:46Speaker 6: government is. It is an aircraft carrier and it's been
- 43:49Speaker 6: dead in the water for forty three days and it's
- 43:51Speaker 6: going to take some time to get that moving. So
- 43:53Speaker 6: this is going to be an even tougher year for
- 43:57Speaker 6: lots of folks here in West Virginia. And we are
- 44:01Speaker 6: in no politics zone up real early on ninety six
- 44:03Speaker 6: to one kws.
- 44:05Speaker 4: So I just want to feed people, That's all I
- 44:08Speaker 4: want to do. I want to feed people on some
- 44:10Speaker 4: reasons or whatever. And this is something I mean, you know,
- 44:13Speaker 4: this is not as you said.
- 44:15Speaker 6: It's this has been put on steroids because of the
- 44:18Speaker 6: government shut down, all right, However, we've been doing things
- 44:21Speaker 6: similar to this for some time because this people are
- 44:24Speaker 6: hungry in West Virginia before this ever happened. This is
- 44:28Speaker 6: our third year of the drive through Turkey Drop. App
- 44:31Speaker 6: Latch and Power Company has come on board, so app
- 44:33Speaker 6: Co is powering it.
- 44:34Speaker 4: Union Mission is our partner. They do all the heavy lifting.
- 44:37Speaker 6: And I don't just mean the frozen turkeys that you
- 44:39Speaker 6: hand us through the window, or maybe you've got a
- 44:41Speaker 6: bunch in the back.
- 44:42Speaker 4: You can just pop the hatch.
- 44:43Speaker 6: You do not have to get out of your nice, warm,
- 44:45Speaker 6: comfortable vehicle. We will do all of the work of
- 44:49Speaker 6: taking the turkeys and stacking them. Cash and check donations
- 44:53Speaker 6: are always warmly accepted.
- 44:55Speaker 4: Green is always the right color.
- 44:56Speaker 6: Whatever you can spare is always the right size because
- 44:59Speaker 6: let me tell you, Jason and everybody at Union Mission, boy.
- 45:02Speaker 4: Can they stretch those dollar donations. I mean they will.
- 45:05Speaker 4: They're good at it.
- 45:05Speaker 6: I mean yeah, those organizations like Union Mission and others,
- 45:08Speaker 6: and you know, whether it's the Feeding Hunger Food Bank
- 45:10Speaker 6: or whatever, these folks do a lot better with strat
- 45:13Speaker 6: Now I want to have them come do my grocery
- 45:15Speaker 6: shopping for me, because they're a whole lot better at
- 45:18Speaker 6: it rob than what we are. And I can cite
- 45:19Speaker 6: all of the data that says how much farther they
- 45:23Speaker 6: can make the money go. I also understand that it
- 45:27Speaker 6: is human nature to want to have something tangible to handover.
- 45:32Speaker 6: That's that's why we're doing the frozen turkeys. And for
- 45:35Speaker 6: those of you playing our home game, yes, it's kind
- 45:37Speaker 6: of inspired by the Turkeys Away episode of w KRP
