- 0:00Speaker 1: Hour number two of the next round presented by Hard
- 0:04Speaker 1: Rock Bet on Sporting State. Jim Dunaway, Lance Taylor walking in.
- 0:08Speaker 1: There's Ryan Brown. I'll tell you this. We're about to
- 0:11Speaker 1: get some early point spreads brought to you by our
- 0:13Speaker 1: friends at Hard Rock Bet for week two. I'm wondering
- 0:16Speaker 1: what Georgia will be, not the point spread, but emotionally,
- 0:20Speaker 1: because this did feel like a supercharged game for Georgia.
- 0:26Speaker 1: And we've seen this year in the SEC, big win
- 0:28Speaker 1: next week. Not able to match that emotion. What do
- 0:32Speaker 1: you think Auburn-Georgia looks like this weekend at?
- 0:34Speaker 2: Well, you've got to have an opponent. Like, you've got
- 0:36Speaker 2: to have somebody that's even in the fight. There is
- 0:39Speaker 2: no chance Auburn can beat this Georgia team.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Zero chance. And the point spread's what?
- 0:42Speaker 2: 18 and a half?
- 0:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I mean, I think naturally Georgia could be, I mean,
- 0:47Speaker 1: this is a rivalry game, obviously, but I'm just going
- 0:51Speaker 1: to say, I think most Georgia fans care more about
- 0:53Speaker 1: beating Alabama right now than they do Auburn. So I
- 0:56Speaker 1: would imagine that And based on Kirby's reactions, that feeds
- 1:00Speaker 1: down to the team as well. That's exactly right. 20
- 1:02Speaker 1: and a half now. That's exactly right, Brownie. And I
- 1:08Speaker 1: say this with a great deal of respect for Alabama, Tennessee,
- 1:11Speaker 1: their rivalry in Auburn, Georgia. Where Alabama and Georgia have
- 1:16Speaker 1: been the last few years of college football and what
- 1:20Speaker 1: was at stake. I mean, not a lot was at
- 1:22Speaker 1: stake because of the 12-team playoff. But the perception that
- 1:27Speaker 1: that was two of the better teams playing, these two
- 1:30Speaker 1: rivalry games this week feel less than what we just
- 1:33Speaker 1: saw between Georgia and Alabama, does it not?
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, and Alabama's crept up to eight and a half. Like,
- 1:38Speaker 2: both of these numbers just continue to move.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I mean, Tennessee, I'm not going to say they got
- 1:42Speaker 1: lucky to beat Arkansas, but that.
- 1:44Speaker 2: See, and I didn't get to watch a lot of
- 1:45Speaker 2: that game, and I heard clock management was a problem.
- 1:47Speaker 1: You didn't miss any. That was an ugly football game. See,
- 1:50Speaker 1: I didn't watch a ton of it either, but Doug
- 1:52Speaker 1: Howes wanted to ask us, about Ryan Silverfield at the
- 1:57Speaker 1: end choosing with 149 to play.
- 1:58Speaker 2: How do you punt in that situation?
- 2:00Speaker 1: He tried to defend it after the game, and of
- 2:02Speaker 1: course the defense was terrible. I mean, you're like, what
- 2:05Speaker 1: do you have to lose? It's 149 left. You're not
- 2:08Speaker 1: going to get it back. Your 14th consecutive SEC game.
- 2:12Speaker 1: What do you have to lose? If anybody should have
- 2:14Speaker 1: been just gambling on every play, it was Arkansas. You
- 2:17Speaker 1: actually had a chance to maybe win a game. You
- 2:19Speaker 1: have a guy at Alabama with all that pressure. Instead
- 2:22Speaker 1: of taking the automatic three and the fans would have
- 2:24Speaker 1: been fine with that. You go for it with three seconds.
- 2:27Speaker 1: You were going to go zero points or a touchdown.
- 2:29Speaker 4: All or nothing.
- 2:30Speaker 1: And you get a touchdown. That's right. And it's 149
- 2:33Speaker 1: to go in a game and you're at Arkansas. Nobody's
- 2:35Speaker 1: expecting you to be in this game and you punt it.
- 2:38Speaker 2: And McIntyre, three turnovers in his first career start. Did
- 2:42Speaker 2: they ever even talk about They talked.
- 2:44Speaker 1: About Faison Brandon like he was injured and unavailable. I
- 2:47Speaker 1: don't know if that's just Hypel being kind to Faison Brandon.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I don't know if they were just going to ride
- 2:53Speaker 1: or die with McIntyre to see. But what happened is
- 2:56Speaker 1: what I said was your nightmare coming out of there
- 2:58Speaker 1: for Hypel is who do you start against Alabama? Yeah.
- 3:03Speaker 2: And does it matter? Like if they play this 10 times,
- 3:05Speaker 2: Tennessee wins once, I believe. It is a rivalry game
- 3:08Speaker 2: and Anything can happen, and we see it each and
- 3:11Speaker 2: every week in college football where a double-digit underdog wins
- 3:14Speaker 2: the game. So, look, Tennessee can win this game. I
- 3:16Speaker 2: just say if they play it nine out of ten
- 3:17Speaker 2: times the way these two teams are playing, Alabama.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Would win nine of ten.
- 3:21Speaker 2: And I just don't see a path to victory for
- 3:24Speaker 2: Auburn right now.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I do think Georgia will be a little flat in
- 3:26Speaker 1: this game, which will help Auburn. But they're going to
- 3:29Speaker 1: have to be super flat. They're going to have to
- 3:31Speaker 1: do what Texas did. They're going to have to give
- 3:33Speaker 1: up a block punt. They're going to have to throw
- 3:34Speaker 1: a pick six. They're going to have to. Throw another intercept.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And Kirby's teams don't do that.
- 3:37Speaker 1: They generally don't. Our friends at Hard Rock Bet with
- 3:40Speaker 1: our upcoming lines for Week 7 update. Alabama, Tennessee. Bama,
- 3:46Speaker 1: 8.5 on the road in Knoxville where they haven't won
- 3:49Speaker 1: since 2020. I think I'm correct there. Auburn at Georgia. Georgia, 20.5.
- 3:53Speaker 3: 20.5.
- 3:53Speaker 1: The total only 49.5. So if you cover, that means
- 3:55Speaker 1: it's a pretty bad beat. Yeah, you go.
- 3:59Speaker 4: I mean.
- 4:05Speaker 2: I'm trying to think what Auburn's point total could be
- 4:07Speaker 2: up to and still get a Georgia and under.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Not a lot. Not a lot. Single digits. Florida at Texas.
- 4:14Speaker 1: More on Florida in a second. Texas 10.5 with the
- 4:17Speaker 1: total at 52.5. All these games are huge impact games
- 4:22Speaker 1: in the SEC. Missouri at Ole Miss. Ole Miss a
- 4:26Speaker 1: six-point favored right now. Tough game there. Kentucky, everybody's darling
- 4:32Speaker 1: on the road at Oklahoma. Oklahoma... a six and a
- 4:35Speaker 1: half point it's a good time to catch oklahoma i
- 4:37Speaker 1: think for kentucky but boy this is a tough spot
- 4:39Speaker 1: for kentucky too back to back overtime emotional wins feels
- 4:44Speaker 1: like that's going to run out pretty quickly for kentucky
- 4:46Speaker 1: this probably is a good spot for oklahoma it is
- 4:48Speaker 1: a good spot and we'll talk about these games all
- 4:50Speaker 1: week just quick reaction to the point spreads uh big
- 4:54Speaker 1: games around the country you guys love oklahoma state there
- 4:56Speaker 1: are four and a half Point dog at Houston. Yeah,
- 5:00Speaker 1: Houston will win that game. I mean, I like Oklahoma
- 5:02Speaker 1: State a lot.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Their defense was a little leaky against Central Florida this weekend,
- 5:05Speaker 2: but Mestermaker is playing next level. But so is Connor Wegman.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Those are two quarterbacks. People aren't talking about Mestermaker. People
- 5:11Speaker 2: aren't talking enough about Connor Wegman.
- 5:13Speaker 1: UCLA, everybody's darling unbeaten. Primetime NBC Wisconsin at the Rose
- 5:18Speaker 1: Bowl to play UCLA. UCLA a three-point favor at hard
- 5:21Speaker 1: rock bet. Big moment for Luke Fickle coming up. Notre Dame-BYU,
- 5:26Speaker 1: the game everyone's loving in Provo, primetime on ABC. Notre
- 5:31Speaker 1: Dame a 10-point favorite on the road at BYU.
- 5:34Speaker 2: You know, BYU was able to completely shut down that
- 5:36Speaker 2: Iowa State offense. Barry Bachmeier played his ass up, and
- 5:39Speaker 2: I don't think Bachmeier can do that against the Notre
- 5:41Speaker 2: Dame defense, like completely take a game over. That one
- 5:45Speaker 2: seems like it's all Notre Dame to me.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Florida State, Miami down at Hard Rock. Miami in this
- 5:51Speaker 1: great rivalry game, a 21-point favorite. Well, just when you
- 5:54Speaker 1: thought Florida State was starting to show a little life
- 5:57Speaker 1: and maybe we fired Norville too quickly, they're back to
- 6:00Speaker 1: the same old Florida State.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yeah, if you would have told me when they were
- 6:02Speaker 2: up 14-0 to Louisville, I would have been like, damn,
- 6:04Speaker 2: this might be an interesting Florida State-Miami game. And then
- 6:06Speaker 2: the old Florida State did rear their ugly head.
- 6:09Speaker 1: And then Ohio State and Indiana and Bloomington, the biggest
- 6:12Speaker 1: game ever played there, they're saying in football. Ohio State,
- 6:15Speaker 1: a three-and-a-half road favorite for the big noon kickoff. Klatt
- 6:18Speaker 1: will be on the show later today. Later today, 1130 Central.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I don't know what you do about Jeremiah Smith.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I don't think that anybody in college football can even
- 6:27Speaker 2: come close to covering that guy, so that's going to
- 6:29Speaker 2: be an issue. But Indiana's going to make this game interesting.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I know you guys don't believe that, but Indiana will 100%
- 6:35Speaker 2: make this game interesting.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Those lines from our friends at Hard Rock Bet, Florida's
- 6:39Speaker 1: only legal sports book, the sponsor of this show, and therefore...

- 7:25Speaker 1: All right, LT, pick a game. Anyone in the country
- 7:27Speaker 1: we haven't talked about yet.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Let's go with Indiana-Nebraska. I know Brown was big on
- 7:34Speaker 2: Nebraska pulling off the upset. Felt good for a minute.
- 7:37Speaker 2: The whole time, after it got to a certain point
- 7:39Speaker 2: in the second half, I was like, Brown's going to
- 7:41Speaker 2: be right on this. And the thing that was the
- 7:43Speaker 2: most interesting to me, after losing 31 consecutive games to
- 7:46Speaker 2: ranked teams, Does this proud fan base rush the field?
- 7:50Speaker 1: Oh, no. I didn't even think about that.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I wanted to see, and I started to get to
- 7:53Speaker 2: the point, I was like, I think they probably will,
- 7:55Speaker 2: but that is going to be such a weird look
- 7:56Speaker 2: because I have never seen Nebraska fans.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Rush the field. Not even think about it.
- 8:00Speaker 2: We didn't get to see it because Nick Marsh took
- 8:01Speaker 2: that game over in just a couple of big plays
- 8:03Speaker 2: is all it took for Indiana. I give Nebraska and
- 8:06Speaker 2: Matt Rule a lot of credit. Their defense played their
- 8:09Speaker 2: asses off.
- 8:09Speaker 1: They did, but I think Nebraska fans don't want to
- 8:11Speaker 1: hear that right now. It was 17-6, Brown, and then
- 8:14Speaker 1: it just took six plays. I know. And it was over. Yeah,
- 8:18Speaker 1: I mean, let me tell you where that game was lost, though.
- 8:21Speaker 1: That game was lost right at the end of the half.
- 8:24Speaker 1: When Nebraska has the ball, they time it out perfectly.
- 8:27Speaker 1: They burn clock, burn clock, burn clock. And they got
- 8:29Speaker 1: a chance for basically the last play of the half,
- 8:32Speaker 1: and they missed the field goal. And now it's just 10,
- 8:35Speaker 1: was that 10-7 going to the break? Where it should
- 8:37Speaker 1: have been 13-7, or maybe it was 10-7 going to
- 8:38Speaker 1: the break. You're up 13-7 there. You got a chance.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I just felt like Indiana had played this awful half.
- 8:47Speaker 1: They barely had the football. When they had the football,
- 8:49Speaker 1: they had terrible field position. And all you could do
- 8:52Speaker 1: is go to the break up 10-7. You did not
- 8:54Speaker 1: take advantage of dominating the first half. Nebraska dominated the
- 8:57Speaker 1: first half and just really didn't take advantage of it.
- 8:59Speaker 1: That's probably where they lost the game.
- 9:01Speaker 2: I believe the whole week that Nebraska was kind of
- 9:03Speaker 2: propped up by the competition that they had played. The
- 9:06Speaker 2: five teams before were just not good. but that looked
- 9:09Speaker 2: like the first time under Matt rule of the old
- 9:12Speaker 2: black shirts.
- 9:12Speaker 1: I agree.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I mean, they held, I mean, Indiana could not run
- 9:15Speaker 2: the football 65 yards on the ground, which put them
- 9:18Speaker 2: in third and long situations. And they were one to
- 9:20Speaker 2: 10 on third down. So Nebraska's defense did everything they
- 9:23Speaker 2: could to win that game. It was just a couple
- 9:25Speaker 2: of busted plays.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Holgerson was really good calling plays. I like that Nebraska quarterback.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Calandra is pretty good. Andrew's a pretty good player. He's
- 9:32Speaker 1: not the best quarterback in America, but he's a tough kid.
- 9:35Speaker 1: He ran when he was supposed to run. He made
- 9:37Speaker 1: pretty good throws. Um, They had every opportunity to win
- 9:40Speaker 1: that game. All you can say about Indiana is that's
- 9:44Speaker 1: how you win national championships is you pull one out
- 9:47Speaker 1: of the fire like that.
- 9:48Speaker 2: But they are playing with fire.
- 9:50Speaker 1: They are, but they fly close to the sun. That
- 9:53Speaker 1: is eventually going to get you burned, but I tell you,
- 9:56Speaker 1: you dodge a bullet like that and you look the
- 9:57Speaker 1: remainder of their schedule they're probably right back in the.
- 9:59Speaker 2: College and that's the thing done away like if indiana
- 10:01Speaker 2: does win at home in the biggest game ever on
- 10:04Speaker 2: campus at bloomington lock them in you can lock them
- 10:07Speaker 2: in but i don't know how they lose another game
- 10:09Speaker 2: like they got to go to michigan but that michigan
- 10:11Speaker 2: offense we know is putrid and they host usc but Like, hell,
- 10:15Speaker 2: are we going to be talking about Indiana going into
- 10:17Speaker 2: the playoffs where they've won at that point, what would
- 10:20Speaker 2: it be, 28th, 29th straight?
- 10:22Speaker 1: If they win Saturday, they're going to be on a
- 10:24Speaker 1: near 30-game win streak going into the Big Ten championship
- 10:27Speaker 1: game at least. I will say this. Here's Cignetti, but
- 10:31Speaker 1: the defense looks different. They're missing so many tackles. They
- 10:35Speaker 1: don't seem to have the hard edge that last year's
- 10:38Speaker 1: Indiana team had, at least to that point. Here's Cignetti.
- 10:42Speaker 1: talking about overcoming the struggles they had to overcome to
- 10:45Speaker 1: get the win in Lincoln.
- 10:47Speaker 5: Teams that struggle for two and a half, three quarters,
- 10:50Speaker 5: or whatever, but find ways to win, don't tap out.
- 10:53Speaker 1: The reasons are what? What exactly?
- 10:56Speaker 6: You've got to have an indomitable will, man. A will
- 10:59Speaker 6: that cannot be defeated or subdued. And you've got to
- 11:02Speaker 6: be resilient. You have the ability to overcome the unexpected.
- 11:06Speaker 6: And that no matter how bad it gets, that you
- 11:09Speaker 6: never let anxiety, frustration... enter your mindset, that you're going
- 11:14Speaker 6: to find a way. It's just a matter of time.
- 11:16Speaker 1: You know, I think the thing they might be missing defensively,
- 11:20Speaker 1: and Clatt did a good job of talking about in
- 11:21Speaker 1: their defense, in the Bryant-Haines defense, how important the boundary
- 11:24Speaker 1: corner is. And it was the kid, and his name
- 11:26Speaker 1: slips from my mind, that played it last year, that
- 11:28Speaker 1: went to the NFL, the corner for Indiana. The undersized kid. God,
- 11:33Speaker 1: I cannot say his name now. Anyway, that aside, I
- 11:36Speaker 1: don't know why his name escapes me. I don't know
- 11:39Speaker 1: that they're as good there, Jim, Um, but you're right.
- 11:44Speaker 1: They're not, I mean, they still got after the quarterback
- 11:47Speaker 1: five sacks. They did. It's just, but Jim's right. I
- 11:50Speaker 1: think they're just missing a little bit on defense and
- 11:54Speaker 1: as well as he has played, Hoover is not Mendoza.
- 11:57Speaker 1: So you're missing a little bit of quarterback, but still
- 11:59Speaker 1: really good at receiver. Beckers and Marsh are fantastic. And
- 12:03Speaker 1: to their credit, they ran a play at the end
- 12:05Speaker 1: of the game where both Beckers and Marsh are out
- 12:08Speaker 1: to practice early. Like Hoover stood back there. He could
- 12:10Speaker 1: have thrown it to either guy and they scored a touchdown. Yeah,
- 12:13Speaker 1: both of those big plays, they were wide-open plays, just
- 12:18Speaker 1: wonderful play calls, and that's what Indiana does. They're well-coached,
- 12:22Speaker 1: and maybe that was their Penn State moment from last year,
- 12:25Speaker 1: the scare, and they get away with the win. And
- 12:27Speaker 1: maybe they play a lot better and go on a
- 12:28Speaker 1: roll the rest of the way.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I do feel this is more the 2014 Florida State version. Like,
- 12:33Speaker 2: they're going to get to a college football playoff.
- 12:34Speaker 1: They get exposed somewhere, though.
- 12:35Speaker 2: But, yeah, when they play an elite team, and it
- 12:37Speaker 2: could be this weekend.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Pons. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt you.
- 12:40Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:41Speaker 2: DeAngelo Pons.
- 12:42Speaker 1: DeAngelo Pons. That's what we're talking about. Pons! Pons! Yeah, yeah.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Tourette's in here. Okay, we need to go back to
- 12:49Speaker 1: Kentucky and LSU real quick.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Okay.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Because we've got some sound here. If you can give
- 12:53Speaker 1: me cut eight and then cut nine. The Kentucky win.
- 12:57Speaker 1: over LSU, just so well done. Will Stein now is,
- 13:04Speaker 1: what is he, 5-0, 6-0? Anyway, he's the first Kentucky
- 13:08Speaker 1: coach ever to start his career at Kentucky with being
- 13:12Speaker 1: unbeaten this deep into the season. No, no, no, they
- 13:14Speaker 1: lost Alabama. I think he's the first one to have.
- 13:19Speaker 7: Bear Bryant started out his first season at Kentucky 4-1.
- 13:25Speaker 7: Will Stein tied him last week and topped him this weekend.
- 13:29Speaker 1: That was the stat. 5-1, best first-year start for a
- 13:34Speaker 1: coach at Kentucky. Here's Will Stein getting asked about that
- 13:37Speaker 1: Bear Bryant stat.
- 13:39Speaker 2: I think last week.
- 13:40Speaker 7: You tied Bear Bryant for best start by a first-year
- 13:43Speaker 7: head coach in the top three this year. You made
- 13:45Speaker 7: history with five-and-one record to start your first season.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Does that resonate with you? Does that mean you need
- 13:50Speaker 2: to have more?
- 13:51Speaker 8: I mean, I have all the respect for, obviously, Bear Bryant,
- 13:55Speaker 8: but I would not consider me Bear Bryant. He's– Got
- 13:59Speaker 8: hundreds of more wins. I don't know what his total is,
- 14:02Speaker 8: national championship. So there's no way in hell I would
- 14:05Speaker 8: compare myself to him. I'm just trying to be my
- 14:08Speaker 8: best every single day and give it my all for
- 14:10Speaker 8: this university that took a chance on me and give
- 14:14Speaker 8: it all for my players who have done such an
- 14:16Speaker 8: unbelievable job up to this point.
- 14:18Speaker 1: So it's about them. It's not about wins.
- 14:21Speaker 8: We're 5-1, which is great, and we've got more opportunities ahead.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Well, Oregon's loss is Kentucky's game, but it is really
- 14:27Speaker 2: affecting Oregon's offense.
- 14:28Speaker 1: There's no doubt. There's two places where you can tell
- 14:31Speaker 1: an offensive coordinator was making a huge difference last year,
- 14:33Speaker 1: and Oregon is one of them. And it's that guy
- 14:35Speaker 1: right there. And just look at the difference in Kentucky's offense.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I mean, my gosh.
- 14:39Speaker 2: And, you know, we talked. I didn't realize it would
- 14:41Speaker 2: be the factor that it was with Oregon because I
- 14:43Speaker 2: thought there was too much talent. But over the years,
- 14:44Speaker 2: we talked about Will Stein and how detailed his offenses
- 14:49Speaker 2: were at Oregon and just how efficient they were. And
- 14:51Speaker 2: they are completely missing that guy. And when he finds
- 14:54Speaker 2: an elite quarterback in Kentucky, watch out. I mean, Mitchie's good, but.
- 14:58Speaker 1: He out-schemed the offensive guy everybody loves, Lane Kiffin. That's right.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I mean, he out-schemed him on Saturday. They outplayed LSU.
- 15:05Speaker 1: And you touched on this, what this could turn into
- 15:07Speaker 1: for LSU. Here's Lane Kiffin. I want you to go
- 15:09Speaker 1: body language here because that's their second loss. I'm right
- 15:13Speaker 1: about that, right? That's right, yeah, with plenty of tough
- 15:15Speaker 1: games left. Plenty of tough games left, including Alabama, Texas,
- 15:19Speaker 1: and anybody else. Here's Lane Kiffin after getting a loss
- 15:23Speaker 1: number two. The loss is fresh.
- 15:26Speaker 3: But dealing with two losses at this point in the
- 15:28Speaker 3: season and blocking out the negativity and all the playoff
- 15:31Speaker 3: talking will be the challenge.
- 15:33Speaker 9: From that perspective, I think.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I'll get to that tomorrow.
- 15:36Speaker 10: I mean, as I just told them, you know, this
- 15:39Speaker 10: goes on all of us. We had all kinds of
- 15:42Speaker 10: chances to close the game out and win the game
- 15:44Speaker 10: and didn't do it. And, you know, to let people
- 15:47Speaker 10: hang around on the road at night in SEC, that's
- 15:49Speaker 10: going to happen.
- 15:51Speaker 1: On the road at night in the SEC, that's going
- 15:53Speaker 1: to happen. That's two losses. They're going to be battling.
- 15:57Speaker 1: They could go 10-2.
- 15:58Speaker 2: I'll tell you, week one seems like a long time ago. Brown,
- 16:02Speaker 2: did you have LSU at number one after beating Clemson?
- 16:04Speaker 1: Oh, heck yeah, number one in the country, yeah. That
- 16:06Speaker 1: seems like a long time ago. It does. I want
- 16:09Speaker 1: to say this, though. Watch this team moving forward because
- 16:16Speaker 1: in this era of college football, when you have these
- 16:18Speaker 1: highly paid NIL players, that really have no blood, sweat,
- 16:22Speaker 1: and tear into wearing the LSU uniform. They came there
- 16:25Speaker 1: in the portal to get a paycheck. Do they shut
- 16:29Speaker 1: it down? And you hear NFL players talk about this
- 16:31Speaker 1: all the time. Once you're out of playoff contention, it's
- 16:34Speaker 1: about just getting it every week, just getting that paycheck.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Hand out, where's that paycheck?
- 16:38Speaker 2: I know we'll get to the NFL at some point,
- 16:40Speaker 2: and I heard Rex Ryan talking about this today. after
- 16:44Speaker 2: that commander's loss, the way they lost that in overtime,
- 16:47Speaker 2: it was horrendous. He was like, I'm not going to
- 16:49Speaker 2: be surprised if they don't win another game. And I'm
- 16:52Speaker 2: not saying that LSU was all on coaching, but when
- 16:55Speaker 2: the guys believe it was the coach's fault, they completely
- 17:00Speaker 2: zone out a lot of times. And when you've already
- 17:02Speaker 2: got two, to your point, two losses this early in
- 17:04Speaker 2: the year, it is going to be interesting. Not a
- 17:07Speaker 2: lot of loyalty to that program, what these guys are
- 17:09Speaker 2: going to do.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Yeah, so keep an eye. And they may do the
- 17:11Speaker 1: other thing. They may come out fired up and And
- 17:14Speaker 1: LSU doesn't lose again. I mean, Oklahoma did. If Kamario
- 17:18Speaker 1: Taylor can't play Saturday, if Taylor is 100% against that team,
- 17:23Speaker 1: I believe Baker defense hasn't been great. If I asked
- 17:26Speaker 1: you right now, it's probably a better question later in
- 17:27Speaker 1: the week. Blake Baker back next year or not?
- 17:31Speaker 2: I would say probably not. I think he's a well-respected.
- 17:33Speaker 2: You saw what he was able to do with the
- 17:34Speaker 2: Missouri defenses and what they were able to do last year.
- 17:37Speaker 2: So improved on defense. But because it wasn't Kiffin's guy.
- 17:41Speaker 3: That's right.
- 17:41Speaker 1: He inherited him. There will be.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I mean, there's always a scapegoat. There's always an excuse.
- 17:45Speaker 2: And the excuse probably will be, he wasn't my guy.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Let's go to UCLA, Oregon next. Brownie, I don't mean
- 17:52Speaker 1: to steal your pick here. No, I was going to
- 17:54Speaker 1: say that one anyway. UCLA and Oregon.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:58Speaker 1: That's where Stein came from. A & M' s your other one.
- 18:01Speaker 1: We'll get to that one. But Will Stein's not at Oregon.
- 18:06Speaker 1: And UCLA benefited from that. Really, how good is UCLA?
- 18:11Speaker 1: We don't know, to be honest with you. Seven turnovers. Now,
- 18:14Speaker 1: the seventh turnover was on the... What do they call it?
- 18:17Speaker 1: The whoopie-woo-woo. They start tossing around. I'll forgive that turnover, Lance,
- 18:23Speaker 1: but you can't forgive the other six.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I think I saw more fumbles this weekend than I've
- 18:27Speaker 2: ever seen.
- 18:27Speaker 1: They had four fumbles. They had five. Five if you
- 18:30Speaker 1: count the one at the end. The pitchy-pitchy-woo-woo. That's what
- 18:32Speaker 1: they call it. The pitchy-pitchy-woo-woo play at the end. There
- 18:35Speaker 1: is officiating controversy in this game as well we'll get to,
- 18:38Speaker 1: but they could be playing Stanford. And turn it over
- 18:44Speaker 1: six times and they're going to lose the game. You
- 18:47Speaker 1: just can't live through that. Niko was awful.
- 18:49Speaker 2: And, you know, the Bob Chesney teams have been really,
- 18:52Speaker 2: really disciplined up until this point.
- 18:53Speaker 1: But, you know, they have.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Themselves, three turnovers and nine penalties. Nico leaves with a
- 18:58Speaker 2: lower leg injury, but he was playing terrible football.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Two interceptions in the first half, and they finish with
- 19:02Speaker 1: their backup quarterback. Yeah, they do.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Ty Diffenbach.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Yeah, Diffenbach. And Oregon had to change quarterbacks, too. Dylan
- 19:09Speaker 1: Raiola hit earth very, very quickly.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and Brock Thomas wasn't bad. How did Raiola not
- 19:13Speaker 2: play like that against USC? And USC would be undefeated
- 19:16Speaker 2: because he was great against USC, and he was awful.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Against UCLA. I just wonder if it's just you don't
- 19:21Speaker 1: have time to process, oh my God, I'm in the game.
- 19:23Speaker 1: You just go in and you ball out. That's what
- 19:25Speaker 1: it was.
- 19:26Speaker 2: We did say last week if UCLA could run the
- 19:28Speaker 2: football like they have been, even assemble it to that,
- 19:31Speaker 2: they only averaged three yards a carry, but I give
- 19:33Speaker 2: Bob Chesney a lot of credit. They continue to pound it.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Wayne Knight, they'll run it all night long. UCLA, they
- 19:39Speaker 1: don't play Ohio State. They don't play Indiana. They don't
- 19:42Speaker 1: play Iowa.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:43Speaker 1: So they're in a pretty good spot as a playoff contender.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Here is Bob Chesney. about starting off now. 5-0 with
- 19:50Speaker 1: a win in Eugene I don't know now. We can
- 19:55Speaker 1: hear it. What's your message to the team? I don't
- 19:59Speaker 1: got a message for the team right now.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Not tonight, at least. But tomorrow, it's going to be
- 20:03Speaker 3: the same. It's going to be it doesn't matter. Now
- 20:05Speaker 3: we got to get better. And how do we get better?
- 20:07Speaker 3: We go back and we look at these things we
- 20:08Speaker 3: got to fix. We look at, you know, our personnel
- 20:10Speaker 3: and see where we're at as far as once we
- 20:12Speaker 3: figure out how these guys, if they're coming back next
- 20:14Speaker 3: week or not. And there's a lot of football left
- 20:17Speaker 3: to be played.
- 20:17Speaker 1: So it doesn't matter.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Get better is ultimately always the message when we turn
- 20:21Speaker 3: the corner.
- 20:21Speaker 5: But not just yet.
- 20:23Speaker 2: If they can win this weekend against Wisconsin, I know
- 20:25Speaker 2: it sounds weird coming off a win in Alton.
- 20:27Speaker 1: And it's at the Rose Bowl.
- 20:28Speaker 2: But if they can come off of that, I think
- 20:31Speaker 2: you can really start to talk about Kurt Cignetti 2.0
- 20:34Speaker 2: this year. Because as bad as Indiana football was, UCLA
- 20:39Speaker 2: was one of the worst big-time programs on the West Coast. USC, Washington, Oregon,
- 20:45Speaker 2: Arizona State, all better. UCLA doesn't have any resources. This
- 20:49Speaker 2: guy comes in, brings a lot of his guys, and
- 20:51Speaker 2: the results have been... And even looking at a double-digit
- 20:55Speaker 2: win over Purdue, that's a pretty impressive win now.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Yeah, USC is the only ranked team remaining on their schedule.
- 21:00Speaker 1: It's probably the only ranked team they'll play. So you
- 21:03Speaker 1: ask the question, are they good? I don't know if
- 21:05Speaker 1: they are. Like, they have... I mean, that's by far
- 21:09Speaker 1: and away their best win. Their other wins are Maryland, Purdue,
- 21:12Speaker 1: San Diego State, and Cal. Sounds a lot like Indiana
- 21:14Speaker 1: and Cignetti's first game. It does, it does. But, I mean, look,
- 21:18Speaker 1: they went and won that game. Now, the controversy... was
- 21:22Speaker 1: Oregon decides to go for two when they scored to
- 21:24Speaker 1: make it 17-15. There is, I think, a personal foul.
- 21:29Speaker 1: It was a face mask. It was a face mask,
- 21:30Speaker 1: personal foul face mask on the conversion, which is a
- 21:33Speaker 1: half the distance. The ball ends at the one. The
- 21:35Speaker 1: penalty is half the distance to the goal. Rather than
- 21:38Speaker 1: mark it half the distance to the goal from the one,
- 21:40Speaker 1: they take it back to the three, mark it half
- 21:43Speaker 1: the distance, which is the original line of scrimmage, obviously,
- 21:46Speaker 1: on a two-point conversion. And so now it's at the
- 21:49Speaker 1: one and a half. Well, Oregon tries the sneak. They
- 21:51Speaker 1: missed by about that much on the sneak.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it should have been spotted inside the one.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Should have been spotted inside the one.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Did you catch it on the fly?
- 21:56Speaker 1: I did not. I did not. I just assumed. I
- 21:58Speaker 1: was like, well, I guess you take it back to
- 22:00Speaker 1: the original line of scrimmage. The conversion just didn't count.
- 22:02Speaker 1: So it's a totally new situation, right? It's just a
- 22:05Speaker 1: new conversion.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Yeah, and you just don't think about it in that
- 22:06Speaker 2: situation because, and I heard it explained this morning, this
- 22:09Speaker 2: was pretty good. If you had a 14-yard run and
- 22:11Speaker 2: you're face-masked at the end of the 14-yard run, you're
- 22:14Speaker 2: getting the 15 from that point.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Yeah, so.
- 22:16Speaker 2: You're not taking it back to.
- 22:17Speaker 1: The original line of scrimmage. I assumed it was different
- 22:19Speaker 1: on the conversion. I did too. I just assumed the
- 22:20Speaker 1: conversion made it different. But no, it was supposed to
- 22:23Speaker 1: have been marked on the half, and the Big Ten
- 22:25Speaker 1: has now had to come out and make a statement
- 22:26Speaker 1: and say we screwed it up.
- 22:27Speaker 2: But guess what? You shouldn't be in that situation if
- 22:29Speaker 2: you're Oregon.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Here's Dan Lanning on a playoff discussion for now a
- 22:33Speaker 1: two-loss Oregon team.
- 22:36Speaker 3: You're fighting an uphill battle if you take another loss
- 22:39Speaker 3: this season making the college football playoff.
- 22:42Speaker 11: Just what is it like.
- 22:43Speaker 4: Kind of knowing that now you've you've got to win
- 22:45Speaker 4: out to make the goal that everybody kind of thought
- 22:48Speaker 4: you were going to.
- 22:48Speaker 10: Have at the start of the season.
- 22:49Speaker 12: Yeah, we're fighting an uphill battle now, right? And it's, again,
- 22:52Speaker 12: you can't look, you know, 10 weeks ahead. You have
- 22:54Speaker 12: to look at what's in front of us right now.
- 22:56Speaker 12: We don't control our destiny anymore, right? It's not necessarily
- 22:58Speaker 12: just up to us, but we do control how we respond.
- 23:02Speaker 12: It's very similar to what I just told our players
- 23:04Speaker 12: in the locker room, right? There's defining moments in a
- 23:06Speaker 12: man's life and how you respond. The way that I'm
- 23:09Speaker 12: going to respond to this is really important to me
- 23:10Speaker 12: because I want my three boys to see how do
- 23:12Speaker 12: I handle this moment. I want our team to see
- 23:14Speaker 12: how do I handle this moment. It's really easy to
- 23:16Speaker 12: fold up. It's really easy to separate and not be
- 23:19Speaker 12: tight and connected in these moments. That's not going to
- 23:21Speaker 12: be my response. I want our players to see that.
- 23:23Speaker 12: But all we control right now is what's in front
- 23:25Speaker 12: of us, how we respond tomorrow, how we respond tonight
- 23:27Speaker 12: as we go back and evaluate it and what's next.
- 23:30Speaker 12: You can't worry about 10 weeks down the road. You've
- 23:32Speaker 12: got to control what's in front of you right now.
- 23:34Speaker 1: One conference loss, though. So if they just get to
- 23:37Speaker 1: the Big Ten championship game, they've got a chance to
- 23:40Speaker 1: get the automatic bid by winning the Big Ten. I
- 23:43Speaker 1: think it was Oklahoma State. Oh, my bad, my bad.
- 23:45Speaker 2: But they do have, like, them rolling in Columbus this
- 23:48Speaker 2: year and winning doesn't really seem believable at this moment.
- 23:52Speaker 2: But can Oregon get in at 9-3? Well, I think.
- 23:55Speaker 1: You can, you know, we always hear from the committee
- 23:57Speaker 1: they'll take key injuries into account. Obviously, you've got a
- 24:01Speaker 1: key injury right here. You don't have a starting quarterback
- 24:03Speaker 1: for this game. That's right. So you do wonder if
- 24:06Speaker 1: it comes down to Oregon versus someone else, if they
- 24:08Speaker 1: look back at this game and say, They didn't have
- 24:10Speaker 1: Dante Moore. When they had Dante Moore, this team was
- 24:12Speaker 1: a different team. And how many Big Ten teams are
- 24:15Speaker 1: in line to get the playoffs? If they need a
- 24:17Speaker 1: third team, can Oregon be that team when you get
- 24:19Speaker 1: to that point? Real quickly, before we take our next break,
- 24:24Speaker 1: Texas A & M back to the SEC. They get
- 24:26Speaker 1: rolled by Missouri and cut 13, if you can. First Browning,
- 24:32Speaker 1: this is the other team you're talking about that's missing
- 24:34Speaker 1: their offensive coordinator. They're a disaster on offense. And not
- 24:37Speaker 1: that Marcel Reed was great last year, but somehow Colin Klein, Lance,
- 24:42Speaker 1: got him to the college football playoff. Colin plays for
- 24:44Speaker 1: Marcel Reed, and he is infinitely worse this year than
- 24:49Speaker 1: he was last year. And they're a bad football team.
- 24:52Speaker 1: They're not even a good football team.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Well, and on the other side, you know, Elko was
- 24:56Speaker 2: one of the best defense coordinators in football, and A &
- 24:58Speaker 2: M is always in their 8-4 every year, has always
- 25:01Speaker 2: prided themselves on getting to the quarterback. They're unable to
- 25:04Speaker 2: do that right now.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Yeah, the only quarterback statistically worse than Marcel Reed are
- 25:07Speaker 1: the two Tennessee quarterbacks in the SEC. That's it. Every
- 25:11Speaker 1: other starter in the SEC is statistically better than Marcel Reed.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Holman Wiggins is the new offensive coordinator. They got sacked
- 25:17Speaker 1: three times. But look, they can't run the ball either.
- 25:22Speaker 1: They have K.J. Edwards, 20 yards. Mara, 14 yards. Reuben Owens,
- 25:26Speaker 1: 13 yards. And by the way, I don't know if
- 25:28Speaker 1: you guys know this. Mario Kraber is still on the team.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Does he ever touch it? One catch, six yards. Isaiah Horton,
- 25:35Speaker 1: two catches, 22 yards. Not a whole lot of production there.
- 25:38Speaker 1: They can't get it to the guys.
- 25:40Speaker 2: They're going to end up being the most disappointing team
- 25:43Speaker 2: in the SEC.
- 25:44Speaker 1: You mentioned Elko's defense. 34 carries, Jamal Roberts. There's not
- 25:48Speaker 1: a lot of fancy in that. That's 34 carries for
- 25:50Speaker 1: 222 yards. His defense has fallen off at the same
- 25:53Speaker 1: time that Marcel Reed has just disappeared.
- 25:56Speaker 2: And we thought Ahmaud Hardy would be a big deal.
- 25:58Speaker 2: It hasn't been a big deal because Jamal Roberts has
- 26:00Speaker 2: become a superstar in this league. But yeah, A & M,
- 26:03Speaker 2: they're just completely broken on both sides of the ball.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Now here's Mike Elko, cut 13, getting asked about his
- 26:09Speaker 1: message to the fan base. Now that's the key here.
- 26:12Speaker 1: What do you tell A & M fans who, you know,
- 26:15Speaker 1: Coming off 11 wins in the playoffs, they thought you
- 26:17Speaker 1: were going to be a playoff team. What do you
- 26:19Speaker 1: tell your fan base, Mike Elko?
- 26:22Speaker 4: Mike, just overall, what.
- 26:23Speaker 9: Would your message be to the fan base that we
- 26:25Speaker 9: might be worried about the team right now?
- 26:28Speaker 5: Yeah, again, there's a difference to me between the fan
- 26:31Speaker 5: base and social media. And so there's one group that
- 26:35Speaker 5: I really don't care much about. You know, Billy Sesspool
- 26:38Speaker 5: can go be Billy Sesspool. Our fan base, stay with us.
- 26:43Speaker 5: Be behind us. We're going to build something that we
- 26:46Speaker 5: told you we were going to build. We're in a
- 26:48Speaker 5: really bad spot right now, but we'll work our way.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Out of it. I don't understand why you go that route.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Tex Ags, Billy Lucci, is it who they're talking about?
- 26:56Speaker 2: Yeah, and I thought there was an affiliation. I just
- 26:58Speaker 2: remember when we did the shows in Dallas for the
- 27:03Speaker 2: SEC Media Days two years ago, I remember talking to
- 27:05Speaker 2: Billy and specifically talking about Elko, and he was a
- 27:08Speaker 2: big Elko fan, like, I think we've got a massive
- 27:12Speaker 2: upgraded coach.
- 27:13Speaker 1: He doesn't get the job if it wasn't for Tex
- 27:17Speaker 1: Ags and Billy Lucci. They were going to hire Mark
- 27:19Speaker 1: Stoops when they hired Mike Elko. And it had leaked
- 27:23Speaker 1: out that Billy had reported, and Tex Ags had reported,
- 27:26Speaker 1: that Mark Stoops was going to be the coach. And
- 27:28Speaker 1: Billy didn't want Mark Stoops. And the Texas A &
- 27:32Speaker 1: M fan base that follow on Texags, they had the outcry, no,
- 27:36Speaker 1: we don't want Mark Stoops. We don't want Mark Stoops.
- 27:37Speaker 1: We don't want Mark Stoops. And Billy Lucci says, we
- 27:40Speaker 1: need Mike Elko back.
- 27:41Speaker 2: I'm not going to pretend to know what he's been saying, but, like,
- 27:43Speaker 2: what has Texags been doing?
- 27:44Speaker 1: I couldn't tell you, but all I know is this.
- 27:46Speaker 2: That's a terrible look.
- 27:47Speaker 1: You know what they're doing? They're buying tickets. They're donating
- 27:50Speaker 1: to NIL. They're making donations to the program. And we
- 27:54Speaker 1: said it with Ryan Grubb, and Ryan Grubb says, hey, look,
- 27:56Speaker 1: I was trying to make a joke. I screwed it up, right?
- 27:59Speaker 1: There was nowhere near as bad as that, by the way.
- 28:01Speaker 1: He was talking about fans booing. When you start to
- 28:04Speaker 1: turn on your fans, it goes quick, buddy. Elko better
- 28:08Speaker 1: be really, really careful with this.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I thought it was easy a couple of weeks ago
- 28:11Speaker 2: when I said Auburn wasn't going to make a bowl.
- 28:14Speaker 2: A & M' s not making a bowl. That's crazy.
- 28:16Speaker 1: It is crazy.
- 28:17Speaker 3: It is.
- 28:18Speaker 1: And top 10 team preseason, by the way, I think,
- 28:21Speaker 1: if I remember correctly. Unranked. They're good. They're in Oklahoma.
- 28:24Speaker 1: They're in Oklahoma and Oregon. By the way, are any
- 28:26Speaker 1: of them on your sheet over there?
- 28:28Speaker 7: No.
- 28:28Speaker 13: Okay.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Every year we do this. Is there a part of
- 28:34Speaker 1: you that sometimes when you see a coach do this,
- 28:36Speaker 1: I mean, 11 wins in a playoffs last year, home
- 28:38Speaker 1: playoff game, and then he says this afterwards, $ 69 million
- 28:44Speaker 1: was his contract. There's probably $ 50 million of that still
- 28:47Speaker 1: on the table. Is there a part of you that
- 28:49Speaker 1: sometimes you think these coaches are now thinking to themselves,
- 28:54Speaker 1: Maybe if I get run out, maybe that's the better life. Yeah,
- 28:56Speaker 1: maybe I can just go live high on the hog.
- 28:59Speaker 2: You know, I could see him coming home and, you know,
- 29:01Speaker 2: bitching and complaining to his wife. Hey, look, you understand
- 29:04Speaker 2: if you get fired, how much better our life is
- 29:06Speaker 2: going to be.
- 29:07Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Do you really want to deal with Billy Sesspool the
- 29:10Speaker 1: rest of your life? I mean, you throw that out
- 29:11Speaker 1: there and you're like, man, that's the fast way to
- 29:13Speaker 1: getting a $ 40- plus million job. It really is.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Because I don't know how you patch that up with
- 29:17Speaker 2: Billy Lucha. Unless, you know, he already made a call
- 29:19Speaker 2: immediately and– I mean, you break that relationship. I mean,
- 29:23Speaker 2: Billy Lucci is really big around that program, whether you
- 29:26Speaker 2: like him or not.
- 29:26Speaker 1: I'll tell you who it helps. It helps Billy Lucci
- 29:28Speaker 1: and Tex Axe. Because, man, you could sell the Billy
- 29:31Speaker 1: Cesspool t-shirts from now until the moon. If they didn't
- 29:35Speaker 1: have a new forum called Billy Sespool on Sunday, he
- 29:37Speaker 1: was crazy. Absolutely. I think his girlfriend and or wife.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Billy's not my girl. Billy's not Velko's. Even though there
- 29:44Speaker 1: are a lot of AI pictures out there this weekend
- 29:48Speaker 1: that are not true, by the way. But Billy with
- 29:52Speaker 1: his girlfriend or wife, I don't know if he's married,
- 29:54Speaker 1: but it was a very attractive woman with Billy Lucci
- 29:57Speaker 1: somewhere saying, Just hanging out on Sunday with Billy Sesspool.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Did you really?
- 30:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I thought that was pretty funny. All right. Quick break here.
- 30:05Speaker 1: The show being brought to you by our friends. Is
- 30:08Speaker 1: this still the opening segment? I couldn't remember. Have we
- 30:11Speaker 1: had to break this?
- 30:12Speaker 9: It is.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bat. This is the next round on Sporting State.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Really quick conversation here about some more college football games.
- 30:21Speaker 1: NFL in the final segment. We've got two more. Ours,
- 30:24Speaker 1: the second half of the next round coming up on
- 30:26Speaker 1: our platform at Next Round Live. At Next Round Live,
- 30:29Speaker 1: you can go there, like and subscribe on YouTube and
- 30:31Speaker 1: all of our social platforms. Before LT tells us about
- 30:35Speaker 1: Clay Travis Law, Duke went to Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech wins.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Best sign of the weekend? Maybe. Right there in a
- 30:43Speaker 1: frat house at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. It simply said,
- 30:47Speaker 1: remember the Blue Devils of Duke? It simply said, The
- 30:50Speaker 1: devil went down to Georgia and got his ass beat.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Georgia Tech on top of that blue devil. Pretty cool sign.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that was one of those watching that final kick.
- 30:59Speaker 2: I was like, he's going to miss his kick. You
- 31:01Speaker 2: can't trust college kickers.
- 31:02Speaker 1: You cannot. You cannot. We'll get a lot more of
- 31:06Speaker 1: the reaction from Alabama, Georgia, and how big of a
- 31:08Speaker 1: game it was from Kirby coming up in the final
- 31:10Speaker 1: two hours, second half of the next round. I think
- 31:14Speaker 1: this is AI, I think, because I was at the
- 31:17Speaker 1: Bama game. I didn't watch LSU-Kentucky play. Were Kentucky really
- 31:22Speaker 1: sending in play calls with those signs? I did not
- 31:25Speaker 1: see that. Tri-delts? No. Alpha Chi? No. No, that was on.
- 31:31Speaker 1: By the way, the primetime slate was spectacular with Bama, Georgia, USC,
- 31:36Speaker 1: Penn State, and Kentucky, LSU. So I had those three
- 31:39Speaker 1: games on my three screens. So I was bouncing around
- 31:42Speaker 1: a lot. I did not see that actually in the game. Brooks,
- 31:46Speaker 1: any word on A.I.
- 31:48Speaker 4: There?
- 31:48Speaker 1: Did that really happen? Maybe that's just the way they
- 31:50Speaker 1: cover up the signs or what. But the way I
- 31:53Speaker 1: saw it was they were trolling Lane Kiffin. I just
- 31:55Speaker 1: assumed that was A.I.
- 31:57Speaker 13: I'm not seeing anything debunking it. The original poster of
- 32:01Speaker 13: it is a, his account is branded as a parody account,
- 32:06Speaker 13: but he was actually at the game Saturday.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:09Speaker 13: So he was in person at the game. And I
- 32:12Speaker 13: don't know if this is a real photo he took.
- 32:15Speaker 13: There'd be a lot of work to be able to, to,
- 32:17Speaker 13: I don't know how much work it would be actually,
- 32:19Speaker 13: but to generate something AI sitting in the stadium.
- 32:22Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Oh, it'd be really easy. I mean, You see what
- 32:25Speaker 1: we do on Tuesdays and Fridays.
- 32:27Speaker 11: Hey, it is, in fact, from a parody account.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to say it. That's what I was saying.
- 32:33Speaker 1: I thought it was. But it was so good, I
- 32:35Speaker 1: wanted to show it on the show. I thought it
- 32:37Speaker 1: was hilarious. No, it's a great idea. Somebody will do
- 32:39Speaker 1: it now. You would have to think, right? All right,
- 32:42Speaker 1: tell us about Clay Travis Law.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Hey, accidents do not wait for a good time. One
- 32:45Speaker 2: bad moment, a wreck, a fall, a doctor who wasn't
- 32:47Speaker 2: paying attention, and suddenly you're fighting an insurance company that
- 32:49Speaker 2: does this every single day. That's why Clay started Clay
- 32:52Speaker 2: Travis Law. Built a firm around one idea. People deserve one.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Someone willing to pay attention, ask those hard questions, and
- 32:58Speaker 2: push back when things don't add up. Experienced trial attorneys
- 33:01Speaker 2: who bring the fight to corporations and insurers based in Nashville,
- 33:04Speaker 2: trusted across the country. They lead negotiations with honesty, determination,
- 33:08Speaker 2: and southern grit. Car and truck wrecks, ride-share accidents, medical malpractice,
- 33:13Speaker 2: premises liability. If they wronged you, they want to hear
- 33:16Speaker 2: about it. Case evaluation is free. No charge, no pressure,

- 33:22Speaker 2: Call 877-222-4444. That's ClayTravisLaw.com. No case too big or too small.
- 33:29Speaker 1: I'm not going to say who we got it from,
- 33:32Speaker 1: but Lance got the same text. I got the same text.
- 33:36Speaker 1: I'm sure somebody said it to Brownie. But basically, it
- 33:40Speaker 1: said you guys can slow down on the John Sumrall
- 33:44Speaker 1: coronation now. Might have crammed him a little quick. Two
- 33:47Speaker 1: losses in a row. Bad one. One was you've got
- 33:50Speaker 1: to handle success. The second one, you've got to handle
- 33:53Speaker 1: the disappointment of a loss, back-to-back losses. Where are you
- 33:57Speaker 1: in Florida right now after they lose to South Carolina?
- 34:00Speaker 2: Blown away. And that might just be an Auburn thing
- 34:03Speaker 2: because who sent that text is an Auburn fan.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Maybe y'all should stop the John Summerall coronation five laughing
- 34:09Speaker 1: emojis for my guy who's 63.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Watching with my buddy Scotty, who's an Auburn fan on Saturday,
- 34:14Speaker 2: he said the same thing, like, It looked bad for
- 34:17Speaker 2: Auburn fans, goalish versus Summerall early on, but where's Summerall
- 34:21Speaker 2: after these last two games? I understood them getting dominated
- 34:25Speaker 2: to a point against Missouri, but to come home. The
- 34:29Speaker 2: thing we talked about last week was, will South Carolina
- 34:31Speaker 2: even show up? Can they make this a semblance of
- 34:33Speaker 2: a game? Where are they after that 17-point blown lead?
- 34:37Speaker 2: It was the other team, and Summerall was saying all
- 34:39Speaker 2: the right things throughout the week. We haven't earned anything.
- 34:42Speaker 2: We got our ass whipped. These guys are disappointed. Now
- 34:44Speaker 2: they know what defeat tastes like. It was worse Saturday.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Lenores played his ass off, but I was shocked that
- 34:50Speaker 2: South Carolina, that was maybe, that was more shocking than UCLA.
- 34:54Speaker 2: That would have been more shocking than Nebraska winning. The
- 34:56Speaker 2: way South Carolina won that game.
- 34:57Speaker 1: And you know who else played their ass off? Dylan
- 34:59Speaker 1: Stewart coming back off the suspension. He had a game.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Forced two fumbles, seemed to have a good attitude. And
- 35:05Speaker 1: to me, that shows you the respect they have in
- 35:07Speaker 1: that locker room for Shane Beamer. Here's John Summerall afterwards,
- 35:11Speaker 1: because I want to play a little bit off of
- 35:13Speaker 1: what he's saying right here.
- 35:16Speaker 9: I see us every day. We are very much a
- 35:19Speaker 9: work in progress. Even after the Ole Miss game, I
- 35:26Speaker 9: was uneasy. We have nowhere, I mean, two weeks ago today,
- 35:32Speaker 9: we had nowhere near arrived. Now, we clearly haven't arrived
- 35:37Speaker 9: the last two weeks because we've been exposed in a
- 35:40Speaker 9: pretty substantial way. We're the same football team. We haven't
- 35:44Speaker 9: gotten better and improved in certain areas to maybe offset
- 35:48Speaker 9: our weaknesses.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Exposed was a key word there because all of a sudden,
- 35:54Speaker 1: the wizard of offense. The inventor? Buster Faulkner's offense. The
- 35:59Speaker 1: sixth day he invented it. They can't get running holes
- 36:02Speaker 1: for Jaden Baugh anymore.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and I don't remember Joe Brady ever having a
- 36:06Speaker 2: lull like this in 2019 when we started to say this.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Because it was, for a minute, very Joe Brady-like as
- 36:12Speaker 2: far as everybody talking about You know, the one thing
- 36:14Speaker 2: that is going right for Florida is Buster Faulkner's offense.
- 36:17Speaker 1: You're right.
- 36:18Speaker 2: I mean, Ball hadn't gotten it back together.
- 36:19Speaker 1: 72 yards the last two games combined for Ball. If
- 36:23Speaker 1: he had had 72 per game the last two games,
- 36:25Speaker 1: we would have been like, hmm, what's happened there? He's
- 36:27Speaker 1: had 72 total the last two games. Yeah, and I
- 36:29Speaker 1: apologize to Forrester. I thought we played the soundbite on
- 36:32Speaker 1: the air, but we didn't. But finally, a lot of
- 36:35Speaker 1: searching finally found it. I think on Friday night, Buster saying, listen,
- 36:40Speaker 1: we don't change up a lot of things week to week.
- 36:42Speaker 1: We just– We are who we are. We're going to
- 36:45Speaker 1: run what we run. And a lot of tape now
- 36:50Speaker 1: by really good defensive coordinators in the SEC, and they've
- 36:54Speaker 1: been unable to, against Missouri and South Carolina, unable to
- 36:58Speaker 1: find any offense. Well, you want some bad news? That
- 37:02Speaker 1: offense is struggling, and your next two games are against
- 37:04Speaker 1: probably the two best defenses in the league, two of
- 37:06Speaker 1: the three at least, because they play Texas and Georgia
- 37:08Speaker 1: the next two. That's two really good defenses.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Ball struggling, which exposes more of the limitations maybe from Philo.
- 37:18Speaker 2: No Vernell Brown again, so that'll help once he comes
- 37:20Speaker 2: back into the fold. But those, at least right now,
- 37:23Speaker 2: don't look like very winnable games. That was the first
- 37:25Speaker 2: South Carolina SEC win in 13 months, and they won
- 37:28Speaker 2: it going away.
- 37:29Speaker 1: They did win it going away, and I should have
- 37:31Speaker 1: added Oklahoma's after that. So, Lance, the next three games, Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma,
- 37:35Speaker 1: that might be the three best defenses in the SEC. Alabama.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Alabama.
- 37:39Speaker 1: At a time where they don't play Alabama, though. But
- 37:43Speaker 1: at a time where your offense is struggling, that's who
- 37:46Speaker 1: they've got to play.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Yeah, so they went from, you know, after that 52-28
- 37:50Speaker 2: win over Ole Miss, we were like, this is a
- 37:52Speaker 2: damn college football playoff team.
- 37:54Speaker 1: You know, they may be two more losses. Are they
- 37:55Speaker 1: going to be at a bowl?
- 37:58Speaker 2: It's insane how much things change week to week.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Yeah, but we did. After Ole Miss, we were like, well,
- 38:02Speaker 1: they'll beat Missouri. They'll beat South Carolina. I mean, even
- 38:07Speaker 1: if they... They just win one of the three between Texas, Georgia,
- 38:10Speaker 1: and Oklahoma. They're still a playoff team. And I don't
- 38:14Speaker 1: know what this says about Beamer. I mean, this felt
- 38:17Speaker 1: so predictable with him, right, that he's going to be
- 38:19Speaker 1: hot seat, hot seat, having to answer the questions. And then, boom,
- 38:22Speaker 1: he goes and finds a win out of nowhere. Cut ten, Tyler.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Pulls one out of his you-know-what. And, yeah, look, says
- 38:28Speaker 1: all the right things afterwards. I mean, I just don't
- 38:32Speaker 1: know where– I think Beamer may end up saving his job.
- 38:36Speaker 2: We talked about it last week. Just based on where
- 38:38Speaker 2: they were financially.
- 38:39Speaker 1: That's right.
- 38:40Speaker 2: And this will be an excuse. I mean, you don't
- 38:42Speaker 2: have to fire him with wins like this.
- 38:43Speaker 1: This makes it easier. He's 3-3. His losses don't look
- 38:46Speaker 1: as bad. Kentucky, Alabama, and State are his losses. Three
- 38:50Speaker 1: pretty good teams. Three ranked teams right now. Here's Shane Beamer.
- 38:54Speaker 1: He led in two of them and missed a couple
- 38:56Speaker 1: of drives against Alabama. And he tried to correct that
- 38:59Speaker 1: with some issues in suspending Dylan Stewart. But here's Beamer.
- 39:04Speaker 1: everybody's favorite in the Palmetto State now?
- 39:08Speaker 4: I think our play and our response this week speaks
- 39:10Speaker 4: for itself. I'm really, really happy for him. I'm really,
- 39:14Speaker 4: really happy for him and every player in our program,
- 39:18Speaker 4: every person associated with our program. That is a program win.
- 39:24Speaker 4: For all the negativity out there this week, that is.
- 39:26Speaker 2: A program win.
- 39:28Speaker 4: The way our offense played, specialty we got takeaways. Third quarter,
- 39:33Speaker 4: I know you guys are probably writing your articles like,
- 39:34Speaker 4: here we go.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Here they go again. Third quarter, what are they going
- 39:38Speaker 1: to do?
- 39:39Speaker 4: And the whole country was watching.
- 39:40Speaker 1: And we own it.
- 39:41Speaker 4: I mean, we're the ones that have played that way
- 39:42Speaker 4: in the third quarter. But if you had seen our
- 39:45Speaker 4: locker room at halftime, you would have known we're getting
- 39:47Speaker 4: ready to play well in the third quarter. And there
- 39:50Speaker 4: was great energy, there was great resolve, and just really,
- 39:52Speaker 4: really happy for our team and everybody associated with our program.
- 39:56Speaker 2: I'm going to ask this with a straight face real quick, Brown,
- 39:58Speaker 2: before you get to your point. If they did not
- 40:01Speaker 2: blow 17-point leads to Mississippi State and Kentucky, this is
- 40:06Speaker 2: a team that would be sitting there at 5-1 with
- 40:07Speaker 2: one loss. With the way Lenore Sellers is playing right now,
- 40:11Speaker 2: would we look at this schedule and say, you know what,
- 40:13Speaker 2: I can find a path for South Carolina to get
- 40:16Speaker 2: to a college football player?
- 40:17Speaker 1: Well, that's kind of what I was about to point out. Now,
- 40:18Speaker 1: they did blow those leads, so it's a different story here.
- 40:22Speaker 1: But he's got a chance, a decent chance to go
- 40:24Speaker 1: on a semi-run here. They get a bye this week,
- 40:27Speaker 1: and then they've got Tennessee coming off the Bama game.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I mean, in Williams-Brice Stadium right now, South Carolina-Tennessee, that's
- 40:33Speaker 1: a Tulsa up at best. Your point being the four
- 40:35Speaker 1: next teams struggle to score points. Yeah, you're at Oklahoma.
- 40:38Speaker 1: I don't think they'll win that game, but, I mean,
- 40:40Speaker 1: 17 points could win that game. Then you've got A & M,
- 40:44Speaker 1: who's terrible right now. Then you've got Arkansas, who's even worse.
- 40:46Speaker 1: I mean, they've actually got a chance to win four
- 40:49Speaker 1: out of five right here in the middle of this schedule,
- 40:50Speaker 1: which I never thought would be possible. Other than Georgia.
- 40:53Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 40:54Speaker 1: The five of those six last games are against teams
- 40:58Speaker 1: that County Clemson struggle to score points. That's right. So
- 41:00Speaker 1: you're not going to get blown out. You're going to
- 41:02Speaker 1: be in every one of those games. I mean, he's
- 41:03Speaker 1: actually got a chance to pull this thing out of
- 41:05Speaker 1: the fire right now and end up with a decent
- 41:07Speaker 1: record if they can continue this type of play. Yeah.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Who knew the toughest stretch was going to be State, Alabama,
- 41:12Speaker 1: and Kentucky? I know. It is, though. We'll talk the
- 41:15Speaker 1: NFL when we come back and get back to college
- 41:17Speaker 1: football in the second half. of the next round. This
- 41:19Speaker 1: is the next round presented by Hard Rock Bet on
- 41:21Speaker 1: Sporting State. Back with you on the next round presented
- 41:25Speaker 1: by Hard Rock Bet. We're to the ALSNLCS. Started with
- 41:31Speaker 1: the National League last night. Milwaukee wins it 2-1 over
- 41:35Speaker 1: the Dodgers. $ 339 million payroll for the Dodgers. All the
- 41:41Speaker 1: other three teams left add up to less than that,
- 41:45Speaker 1: including the Brewers at $ 146 million. Game two this afternoon,
- 41:52Speaker 1: either on Fox or FS1, four o'clock, Dodgers minus 137
- 41:56Speaker 1: at Hard Rock Bet. I bet you've got to play
- 41:59Speaker 1: at lanceslock.com.
- 42:00Speaker 2: I am about to send these plays in right here.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I do.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Yamamoto has just been unbelievable in the postseason, like virtually unhittable.
- 42:08Speaker 2: Eight and one in his 11 postseason games with just
- 42:10Speaker 2: barely above a two ERA.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Dodgers and Brewers today and The Tampa Bay Rays start
- 42:17Speaker 1: tonight as a minus 172 favorite in this game against Cleveland.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Yeah, massive, massive favorite is your team. But, boy, they've
- 42:24Speaker 2: been so good. They're 5-1 against the Guardians this year.
- 42:27Speaker 2: They're 55-26 at home. And Tampa's got a lot of
- 42:31Speaker 2: momentum going into this series.
- 42:33Speaker 1: I feel like tickets are still available for the game
- 42:36Speaker 1: if you want to go by and get one without
- 42:38Speaker 1: the Yankees being there. Cleveland playing primetime tonight, Cleveland and
- 42:41Speaker 1: Tampa Bay. sorry to your white socks for sure. They
- 42:44Speaker 1: couldn't survive on Saturday. I didn't see any of the game.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Was it close? How did it go? How heartbroken are you?
- 42:51Speaker 7: Um, I I'm, I'm okay now, but, uh, I, I,
- 42:56Speaker 7: I still feel like the, uh, the series was lost
- 42:59Speaker 7: after the second game in Chicago. I felt like it
- 43:01Speaker 7: was almost a foregone conclusion after, after that.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Um, You can't make contact with the baseball the final
- 43:07Speaker 2: three games. It was crazy.
- 43:08Speaker 7: 52 strikeouts in the last three games of that series.
- 43:15Speaker 7: Three days after striking out 19 times. They struck out
- 43:20Speaker 7: 21 times Saturday.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Was that a problem this year, though?
- 43:23Speaker 3: Yeah. Okay.
- 43:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:25Speaker 1: So they struck out 21 times on Saturday?
- 43:27Speaker 11: Yes, three days after striking out 19 times.
- 43:30Speaker 1: But I saw your social media. They broke their own record?
- 43:33Speaker 1: They did.
- 43:33Speaker 11: They broke their own three-day-old record.
- 43:36Speaker 1: I saw your social media post with your beautiful daughters
- 43:38Speaker 1: wearing the Sox jerseys, and I liked your approach. You're like, man,
- 43:44Speaker 1: if you had told me at the start of the
- 43:45Speaker 1: year this is where we were, I'd have taken it
- 43:46Speaker 1: in a heartbeat, basically, is what you said, right?
- 43:48Speaker 11: I am doing my best to look at it through
- 43:50Speaker 11: that lens. You've got to.
- 43:52Speaker 7: Coming into a season with no expectations.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Exactly. And how excited are you for next season now?
- 43:57Speaker 11: Three 100-loss seasons in a row.
- 44:00Speaker 1: That's right.
- 44:00Speaker 11: One of those being the worst season that anybody's ever had.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Yeah, but, Brown, 93 times, the best of five, somebody's
- 44:08Speaker 2: been up 2-0, and they've hit it 83 times.
- 44:11Speaker 1: I get it.
- 44:11Speaker 7: And that's why I'm struggling to look at it through
- 44:14Speaker 7: that lens, because you're up. 2-0 yeah at your own
- 44:18Speaker 7: place but.
- 44:19Speaker 1: You're more excited for a white sock season next year

- 45:23Speaker 1: Hardrock.bet backslash clay for our friends at Hardrock. Tonight, Bills
- 45:28Speaker 1: and Rams. Rams a three and a half point favorite.
- 45:32Speaker 1: 7-15 on ESPN. This potentially two of the best teams,
- 45:36Speaker 1: if not at times the two best teams in the
- 45:39Speaker 1: league over the last couple of years. your expectations tonight.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Well, the good news for the Rams, you get Aaron
- 45:45Speaker 2: Donald back, you get one of your starting quarters in
- 45:47Speaker 2: Jalen Watson back, you get your number one tight end
- 45:49Speaker 2: in Colby Parkinson back, so that's all good. The bad
- 45:52Speaker 2: news is Josh Allen coming off a loss, watching this
- 45:55Speaker 2: game the last time these two played in SoFi, it
- 45:57Speaker 2: was two years ago, December of 2024. Rams end up
- 46:01Speaker 2: holding up 44-42, but Josh Allen had six touchdowns.
- 46:05Speaker 1: No turnovers.
- 46:06Speaker 2: The first player... in the super bowl era to go
- 46:09Speaker 2: three passing touchdowns three rushing touchdowns he is just a
- 46:12Speaker 2: freaking beast.
- 46:13Speaker 1: I thought you're about to give me a alan stat
- 46:15Speaker 1: coming off a loss coming off a loss he's such
- 46:17Speaker 1: and such but it's got to be a great.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Record it has to be i haven't seen this but
- 46:21Speaker 2: you know the rams are the first team since 1940
- 46:23Speaker 2: the 1949 eagles to out gain three straight opponents which
- 46:27Speaker 2: are on right now by 200 plus yards now they're
- 46:30Speaker 2: only two and one in that stretch because they blew
- 46:31Speaker 2: the 16-0 lead to denver But their defense is playing really,
- 46:35Speaker 2: really well. I don't think that matters. I don't care
- 46:37Speaker 2: how good a defense is. You can't shut Josh Allen down.
- 46:41Speaker 2: You can't defend Josh Allen because he does so many
- 46:42Speaker 2: things off script.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Yeah, so I am scared to death.
- 46:46Speaker 2: Eight of their last nine times they played the Rams,
- 46:48Speaker 2: they've gone 30-plus points. Rams are going to have to
- 46:50Speaker 2: slow it down, but this is a hell of a game.
- 46:52Speaker 2: Will you watch it?
- 46:54Speaker 1: Probably.
- 46:56Speaker 2: But, you know, watching San Francisco find a way to win,
- 46:59Speaker 2: even banged up on the road against Seattle, like you
- 47:02Speaker 2: don't need to drop three games behind the 49ers at
- 47:04Speaker 2: this point.
- 47:05Speaker 1: San Francisco does win 32-29 against Seattle. Mike Evans has
- 47:10Speaker 1: become a very important part of what they do. He has, man.
- 47:13Speaker 2: And he just, you know, he's like fine wine. His
- 47:16Speaker 2: hands are so freaking good and in clutch third down
- 47:19Speaker 2: situations when Brock Purdy needs to move the chains, that's
- 47:22Speaker 2: who he's going to. But I thought after they turned
- 47:24Speaker 2: it over, so I think, yeah, Jason Myers had hit
- 47:28Speaker 2: the field goal, and then the very next possession, they
- 47:30Speaker 2: turn it over, Seattle gets it, gets the touchdown. At
- 47:34Speaker 2: that point, I thought Seattle was going to win that game.
- 47:35Speaker 2: And San Francisco, they don't get phased, and 5-0 again.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Listen, last night, Ravens over the Falcons. I was watching
- 47:45Speaker 1: a little bit of that while I was doing show notes,
- 47:47Speaker 1: and I thought the Falcons were going to win the game.
- 47:49Speaker 1: But in the end, Derrick Henry and the Ravens win.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Freddie Falcon, the mascot. This is crazy. Did you see
- 47:56Speaker 1: what he did? I saw him show it on the broadcast.
- 47:58Speaker 1: He comes in on a slack line up at the
- 48:00Speaker 1: top of Mercedes Benz. Now, he's got a harness, a
- 48:04Speaker 1: safety harness on. He's tied off, but still. But that's
- 48:07Speaker 1: still pretty good to walk that slack line like he
- 48:09Speaker 1: did way above the— The Mercedes Benz with the dome
- 48:14Speaker 1: open up there.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Now, Tyler, you said it's a felony if you throw
- 48:17Speaker 2: a water bottle in traffic. If you threw a water
- 48:20Speaker 2: bottle at the Falcon here, would that be a felony?
- 48:23Speaker 2: I would think you would just go ahead and call
- 48:24Speaker 2: that attempted murder.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going to take a strong arm, too. Now,
- 48:27Speaker 1: he's got a big cable and a hook on his
- 48:30Speaker 1: back and a harness and all that. Wimp. Because sometimes
- 48:33Speaker 1: they do come, he probably comes in from the rafters
- 48:36Speaker 1: sometimes on that hook. But that was a pretty cool
- 48:38Speaker 1: scene last night. I'll give Collinsworth credit for a good line.
- 48:42Speaker 1: A lot of people don't like Collinsworth. They showed it.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Collinsworth's like... He knows that's just a costume, right? He
- 48:48Speaker 1: can't really fly. That's a good line.
- 48:51Speaker 2: Don't you think, though, to add a little excitement, what
- 48:54Speaker 2: you do is you put him up on that line
- 48:55Speaker 2: without telling anybody, and you pull out the T-shirt gun.
- 48:58Speaker 1: You shoot one.
- 48:59Speaker 2: He does full extension to lay out. Everybody's terrified he
- 49:02Speaker 2: goes into the net or has the harness.
- 49:04Speaker 1: I assume at the end of this, I didn't see
- 49:06Speaker 1: the broadcast last night, he jumps and comes down like
- 49:08Speaker 1: he always does. They didn't show that. I don't know
- 49:11Speaker 1: what he does. That was pretty crazy. I thought it
- 49:12Speaker 1: was a beautiful scene last night in Atlanta, but the
- 49:15Speaker 1: Ravens win. um boy josh jameer gibbs and the lions
- 49:21Speaker 1: beat arizona 45 21 that lions team because of the
- 49:25Speaker 1: points they can score remains to be dangerous to.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Me yeah i just don't trust the defense you know
- 49:29Speaker 2: one of the worst defenses i mean technically it was
- 49:32Speaker 2: the worst scoring defense coming into the game they got
- 49:34Speaker 2: up seven or they were down seven nothing to cardinals
- 49:37Speaker 2: and It still is the Cardinals.
- 49:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean, that division, Jim, is pretty crazy
- 49:42Speaker 1: right now. Like Minnesota, sometimes they can't score. They were
- 49:46Speaker 1: a little better Sunday. Beat New Orleans. Beat New Orleans.
- 49:49Speaker 1: The Bears, you know, offense has completely disappeared. Packers killed them. Yeah,
- 49:54Speaker 1: but the Packers are wildly inconsistent. They get killed by
- 49:56Speaker 1: the Falcons. They turn around, they drill the Bears. I
- 49:59Speaker 1: don't know what to make of that division. Like, I
- 50:00Speaker 1: don't know if the Lions might be your favorite to
- 50:02Speaker 1: win it right now. Yeah, I like the way they play.
- 50:04Speaker 1: I wanted to bring up while we're on Arizona. D'Amico
- 50:08Speaker 1: Ryan's confirmed after the Houston's win that the Texans are
- 50:12Speaker 1: trading for Marvin Harrison Jr. So they're about to get
- 50:14Speaker 1: him away from Arizona.
- 50:16Speaker 2: I think D'Amico and, you know, in front office had
- 50:19Speaker 2: a conversation with C.J.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Stroud.
- 50:21Speaker 2: He needs another weapon outside of Nico Collins. And I
- 50:24Speaker 2: think he believes with the rapport they had in Columbus
- 50:27Speaker 2: that maybe that can be something they get going in Houston.
- 50:30Speaker 1: Too little, too late, though. I mean, you're one in four.
- 50:32Speaker 1: In a division where Jacksonville's 4-1.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, if you're 1-4 in the NFC East,
- 50:37Speaker 2: not a big deal. I saw today the analytics, the
- 50:40Speaker 2: Cowboys coming off a loss at home to Tampa, 63%
- 50:44Speaker 2: chance of winning that division.
- 50:45Speaker 1: Look what the rest of the division did, though. Philadelphia
- 50:48Speaker 1: has a bonehead ending.
- 50:49Speaker 2: Yeah, what was the worst ending? I mean, the Commanders
- 50:51Speaker 2: was the worst.
- 50:52Speaker 1: The Commanders was the worst, and they ended in a tie. Like,
- 50:54Speaker 1: everybody in that division had a chance to make up
- 50:56Speaker 1: ground on Dallas, and Philadelphia's like, nope, we're going to
- 50:58Speaker 1: give it away at the end. And the Giants and
- 51:00Speaker 1: Washington are like... For those that aren't following it, the
- 51:03Speaker 1: Giants are in first place. They're 3-1-1. But the Cowboys
- 51:08Speaker 1: have a better chance coming off a loss to win
- 51:10Speaker 1: the division. Well, because the Giants are starting Jameis Winston.
- 51:13Speaker 1: The Giants and the Commanders played to a 27-27 tie.
- 51:17Speaker 1: Explain to people that didn't see it what happened. So
- 51:20Speaker 1: the Giants, in overtime, fumble the ball with two minutes
- 51:24Speaker 1: to go in overtime. Scadaboo fumbles to Washington. Washington only
- 51:28Speaker 1: has to kick a field goal to win. They drive
- 51:31Speaker 1: it down. They've got 45 seconds that they just let
- 51:34Speaker 1: run off the clock. And then with, was it 13
- 51:39Speaker 1: seconds to go when he took the snap, Lance? Do
- 51:41Speaker 1: you remember?
- 51:42Speaker 2: I thought it was eight.
- 51:43Speaker 1: No, it was 13. 13 seconds. Jaden Daniels takes the
- 51:47Speaker 1: snap with no timeouts, mind you, rolls out, decides to
- 51:51Speaker 1: pull it down and run in the middle of the field,
- 51:54Speaker 1: and the clock runs out. You can't explain what either
- 51:57Speaker 1: Jaden Daniels or Dan Quinn were thinking to let all
- 52:00Speaker 1: that time run out and then run a play. I
- 52:02Speaker 1: don't understand... just spike it or something. Why do you
- 52:05Speaker 1: let all that time run off and then just run
- 52:06Speaker 1: a play?
- 52:07Speaker 2: Well, and in that point, and I want to get
- 52:09Speaker 2: the exact yardage here, you had the ball. I thought
- 52:15Speaker 2: it was on the 31.
- 52:16Speaker 1: It was.
- 52:16Speaker 2: He was sacked at the New York 24. So anyway,
- 52:20Speaker 2: it's right at a 40-yard field goal before that play.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Why are you running clock? New York's already had their possession.
- 52:25Speaker 1: It's overtime. It's over. You walk off.
- 52:27Speaker 2: Yeah, you walk it off, and instead you put yourself
- 52:29Speaker 2: in a situation where Dan Quinn completely lost that game.
- 52:33Speaker 1: He did. I don't know what you're doing. It's inexplicable.
- 52:36Speaker 1: Because you would say if they still had time, if
- 52:39Speaker 1: they were getting possession back. It matters. But it's a walk-off.
- 52:41Speaker 1: That's right. We're in sudden death at that point. Next
- 52:43Speaker 1: team scores. Nobody could figure it out. I'm watching the game,
- 52:45Speaker 1: and nobody could figure out what was going on. They're like,
- 52:47Speaker 1: why are they letting all this time run off? And
- 52:49Speaker 1: then when Jaden Daniels starts rolling, they're like, what are
- 52:51Speaker 1: they doing?
- 52:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and Jaden Daniels took the responsibility after the game,
- 52:55Speaker 2: but he shouldn't have.
- 52:55Speaker 1: No, that's not your coach.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Yeah, you shouldn't have taken a snap.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why you're out there competing. And then the Eagles,
- 53:02Speaker 1: just the opposite. They left too much time on the
- 53:04Speaker 1: clock to allow the Jaguars to win. But even still,
- 53:07Speaker 1: how would, excuse me, eight seconds to go kicking off,
- 53:09Speaker 1: you lose that game.
- 53:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't, you know, and people are killing Sirianni
- 53:13Speaker 2: and he's taking the blame too. Like I shouldn't have
- 53:15Speaker 2: kicked it. Homewood's Amir Abdullah, the incredible return. And to
- 53:18Speaker 2: be able to get down split second, bring Cam Little
- 53:21Speaker 2: out to drill a 57 yarder. Jacksonville was completely flat
- 53:25Speaker 2: where Philadelphia's offense is. And I give Hertz credit. Let
- 53:28Speaker 2: them down a couple of times late to put them
- 53:30Speaker 2: in a situation to win that game. But make a
- 53:33Speaker 2: tackle on special teams.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Cincinnati beat Miami. Aaron Rodgers looked good. Big win for
- 53:38Speaker 1: the Steelers over Indianapolis. And real quickly, the Chargers 0-5.
- 53:43Speaker 1: And Harbaugh, you know, he says it's my fault. They
- 53:46Speaker 1: lose to Denver.
- 53:47Speaker 2: It's Herbert's fault. Like watching Herbert late in that game,
- 53:50Speaker 2: they had the lead. And then his last two possessions,
- 53:53Speaker 2: not only was he sacked a ton of times yesterday,
- 53:56Speaker 2: but He fumbles, throws a pick, and then he's sacked
- 53:58Speaker 2: on the final. Well, you've got a Hail Mary from
- 54:00Speaker 2: the 40. How do you get sacked on that play?
- 54:03Speaker 1: Sean Payton took back over play calling in the 23-17 win.
- 54:06Speaker 1: And Drake May was really good. I bang on him
- 54:10Speaker 1: all the time, but 45-17 as they rolled Las Vegas.
- 54:13Speaker 1: All right, that's our show here. Second half of the
- 54:16Speaker 1: next round continues. Buck and Clay up here on Sporting State.
- 54:19Speaker 1: We're over on the Next Round platform at Next Round
- 54:22Speaker 1: Live and on all socials. You guys have a great Monday.
