- 0:02This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is Spoiled Me, covering one piece
- 0:11episodes four hundred and four hundred and one. I should have had this ready,
- 0:18but four hundred Roger and Raley, the King of the Pirates and his
- 0:28right hand man and no Escape Admiral Kizarou's light speed kick. In these episodes,
- 0:36we find out some information about gold Roger and that he was actually kind
- 0:43of a nobody in a lot of ways, which really caught me off guard.
- 0:49Welcome to spoil Me. Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha
- 1:15and I am Florian. Welcome yay. So first off, I am surprised
- 1:23that you didn't say that this is the episode where Lufy screams no fucking spoilers
- 1:30at us. I mean, it would have been on brand, but that's
- 1:34just me. I didn't think about it that way. That's a really good
- 1:42point. Yeah, oh my god. I wish that there can somebody give
- 1:48me a screen grab and just do a little no fucking spoilers like subtitle or
- 1:53something and put that in the discord for me to use in response to people
- 2:00who search to spoil things. Thank you, appreciate you looking at there for
- 2:04you and I didn't even think about it. I have to think about the
- 2:07brand exactly. So you know what I'm gonna start with. Why these episodes,
- 2:17Um, well, I feel like there's a lot revealed here and I
- 2:25I always like that the second episode is just like kind of banana pants,
- 2:30like what we see there. Yeah, and yeah, I'm just also kind
- 2:35of here to like maybe help you connect the dots, like not lead you
- 2:38down the path, but just help you remembering things. I'm gonna need it
- 2:45because there is a lot of bringing old things up here that I had like
- 2:50basically forgotten about Robin bringing up something here that I was. She says something
- 2:57like, what does the d what's the name of it? But I don't
- 3:01remember. Do you want do you do the dub or do you do the
- 3:05sub? I mean, now for this recording, I watched the dubs,
- 3:09but no, UM, I just wanted to check because like it doesn't matter,
- 3:15but sometimes if I quote something, if you weren't watching the dub,
- 3:21you may not like remember it worded the way that I'm quoting. So I
- 3:27just want to be sure that, uh, we're gonna be on the same
- 3:30page with that. I appreciate you watching the dubs, even though you normally
- 3:32don't. For my sake, that's a real sacrifice I understand amongst you weed
- 3:38types, not even like I've said it before because maybe English is not my
- 3:45native language, But for me, it's kind of I'm sorry to say that,
- 3:50like a cartoon, you know, like I compared it before, like
- 3:53when I watched Steven Universe in English, or like Avatar, like the Last
- 3:59Airbane or it's no different for me d shows and like watching an anime in
- 4:03English. To be honest, right, maybe that's just because I'm not a
- 4:08native speaker. Yeah, so let's I'm gonna jump in. Rather than trying
- 4:15to talk about the thing with Robin right away, let's just get actually started
- 4:19here. I also like last episode, I pointed out how it was like
- 4:28the first time that they didn't have the gold Roger opening about you know,
- 4:36the one piece and the whole legend with that, And now it makes some
- 4:41sense why they have kind of pulled back with that because we get an explanation
- 4:46about what was going on there, and it feels like changing over the way
- 4:53we're gonna do an opening. I don't know, it just makes sense at
- 4:56this point, but I did not know that was what was going on there.
- 5:00I just thought that they decided we're going on four hundred episodes here,
- 5:04maybe we can stop with the explaining what the show is about, because everybody
- 5:09knows by now. So we start off with Duval giving Kamie back her backpack.
- 5:19Hello, adorable seatshell backpack, and he is I dou Fall is so
- 5:28weird looking. Oh my god, Like I get that he's supposed to what's
- 5:33that not handsome? I guess he's like he's handsome in the way that a
- 5:46person who has had a little bit too much plastic surgery is handsome. Where
- 5:51Like, technically they are symmetrical and each element of their face is pleasing,
- 5:59but all together they just don't really quite look right anymore. Yeah, absolutely
- 6:06is something off putting. I don't know. Yeah, but yeah, he
- 6:13tries to wink at them once again. But um but he did terrible attempt
- 6:20he did. He did beat up the peter Man guy. Yes, yes,
- 6:28I wish we got to see that a little peter Man. That's what
- 6:30it is, peter Man. Yeah, but it is, yes, it
- 6:34is. Um. So the rest of the gang is they're carrying hotchi to
- 6:43Ralegh's house. Well, Rayley's carrying Hatchie by himself, really, and they
- 6:48are going to take care of his wounds. And when they kid inside,
- 6:56we just jump right to Lufy screaming you were on gold Rogers Crew, and
- 7:02he looks like mad about it that he didn't like know this right away,
- 7:11mum, which makes sense. It's like he says, I served as his
- 7:18vice captain. And of course once he adds this, everybody in the room
- 7:25is just like, what the fuck? And I just really want to point
- 7:28out sorry, go ahead, no, no, I wanted to point out
- 7:32that just like takes a sleep and then spits it out like thank you,
- 7:36That's exactly what I was gonna say. It's not a genuine spittake. He
- 7:42doesn't, he's not in the middle of drinking when he finds it out and
- 7:45spits it out of surprise. He purposely, after hearing it, drinks and
- 7:50then spits it out, which, honestly, I just love that so much.
- 7:56It's such a it's such a like silly background joke. Yes, it's
- 8:01good ship, guys. I really I really like that absolutely, and apparently
- 8:09fucking Hotchi knew this, yeah, and just never said anything to them about
- 8:15it. I mean it's no big deal. He's like, I don't know,
- 8:22he was just going to coat the boat. I'm like, oh my
- 8:24god, really, you know this is like it will be like your your
- 8:26car breaks down and your friend is like, yeah, let's go to this
- 8:31headic that I know, and then it's just Barack Obama and you're like,
- 8:37oh, I have a guy, Barry. He's really good with the stuff.
- 8:46Uh um. And fucking Brook says, I seem to remember a rookie
- 8:54with a name like that long ago, but I'm not really sure which just
- 9:01you know, I keep sort of forgetting how old Brooke is. He's got
- 9:07young energy, so I think of him as being like a teen, you
- 9:13know, and that is just super duper not the case. And Raley says
- 9:20he was like rescued when he was stranded at sea by Hatchie. Right,
- 9:28is that how they met? He says that was over twenty years ago,
- 9:33but I'll never forget it for as long as I live. Hatchie was still
- 9:39just a little kid when it happened, but he saved Rayleigh's life. We
- 9:43remained good friends until he joined up with the Sun Pirates and that like that's
- 9:50when Lufy chimes in and he's like, are along? Is that who you're
- 9:54talking about? And I really wanted to like get a little bit more about
- 9:58that because I was sort of the way she said it, we were friends,
- 10:03We were friends with him until then it felt like they didn't approve of
- 10:07the pirates that he threw in with. And I can't tell if that's just
- 10:11me wanting them to disapprove because they were bad, bad boys, or if
- 10:18it's because that's really what she's saying is basically like our acquaintance broke off due
- 10:24to him falling in with bad company. You know it is what do you
- 10:33if you may know though, this is the thing. You may know the
- 10:35answer If you do, don't tell me. If you don't, though,
- 10:45feel free to guess what you think. I'm going to be honest. This
- 10:52is something that I like never really paid attention to. Oh that's very but
- 11:01I do, like I did get a feeling like like, not to specific,
- 11:05I mean, pay attention to, like do the specific thing that you
- 11:07were saying, but just in general, I get the wipe that there is
- 11:11or got the wipe that there is something more there, you know, like
- 11:16they have history, they have clearly history in some capacity. I think that
- 11:22it's just like Hatchie thrown in with them when he seemed like he had been
- 11:26a good boy before and he seems like he's trying to be a good boy
- 11:31now. And I just really kind of want to know, like why,
- 11:35Hatchie, what drew you to those terrible dudes. I'm just I want to
- 11:41know what happened to you so that we can have some outreach programs further at
- 11:46rescue. And this is the part that I thought was the most fun.
- 11:56Sangi is like, well, you know, the Marines captured the tire crew,
- 12:01didn't they. And there's this long pause as we like go all around
- 12:07the room with the camera and look at everybody's faces, and then finally Raley
- 12:11says, the Marines didn't actually catch Roger. He turned himself in. They
- 12:16just like to say that they caught him because it makes them seem more competent
- 12:22and badass. But he genuinely just like walked up to them and was like,
- 12:28hey, here I am and I really enjoy this a lot. This
- 12:35is something And forgive me, guys, if you can hear things. I
- 12:37have a dog in here who's just restless. Now, there are so many
- 12:48instances when do you do you Florian consume any like true crime stuff podcasts or
- 12:54shows a kitchen. Um, it took me a minute to like register what
- 13:07you meant. Oh my god, um No, I don't. The thing
- 13:13that I keep running into that makes me laugh. And I get why they
- 13:18do it, especially when it's a TV show. I listened to the Snapped
- 13:22podcast a lot, but they have to like make the case interesting for entertainment
- 13:26value to the listener as well, so I get what they're doing. But
- 13:31a lot of the time, there'll be this long story about like the circumstances
- 13:35surrounding the murder and all of these dead ends and blah blah blah, and
- 13:39then all of a sudden they'll be like, eventually we found a text message
- 13:46where she was like, Hey, I'm gonna go murder him, and then
- 13:48replied half an hour later, Okay, I murdered him. We're good.
- 13:52And it's like there's something so incredibly obvious and it's all built up, like
- 13:58the police cry actually the case, and they fucking didn't crack the case.
- 14:03Somebody did something so unbelievably stupid and obvious that it was right fucking there,
- 14:09and they almost still got away. With it, like, because police honestly
- 14:15do not really do very much in terms of catching murderers. Just FYI,
- 14:18those of you who aren't aware, it's real bad, Like look into we
- 14:22have this whole thing in the United States. I feel like is especially particular
- 14:28with this where we like think of serial killers as being these masterminds who are
- 14:31out here toying with the police, you know, having these fucking like intricate
- 14:35plans. No, they are just like boring white men that seem respectable,
- 14:45and so nobody looks twice at them, despite mountains of evidence pointing in their
- 14:50direction. Or they choose like victims that nobody cares about. And I think
- 14:56it was Jeffrey Dahmer that there was literally a young man like bleeding in the
- 15:01street and people called the cops, and the kid was telling the police he
- 15:07drugged me and I woke up to him raping me, and they were like,
- 15:11is this true, dude, And he was like, no, no,
- 15:15he just got too drunk. Don't worry about it. And they were
- 15:18like, yeah, that seems right, and they let him take the guy
- 15:20back to his home where he then murdered him. That is a true story.
- 15:26So I am saying all of this to say, the fact that Roger
- 15:31just turned himself in and was not actually caught lines up with my understanding of
- 15:35law enforcement in general. And I really really like this way, so I
- 15:43mean, yeah, yeah, I like it too. I like this whole
- 15:48sequence, as you say, like with him kind of telling this story just
- 15:56like how it is also shot kind of you know, especially I feel like
- 16:00he's framing is like really intentional, Like yeah, that's not every shot.
- 16:07There's a feeling almost of like Tarantino movies sometimes with it. Yeah, you
- 16:15can clearly see like he is the vocal vocal point, you know, m
- 16:19and kind of also like it kind of makes sense step and he smiled at
- 16:25the end, you know, like he kind of I mean, that's the
- 16:29question, isn't it Did he plan it? Or I don't know what was
- 16:33going on with him really also doesn't seem to know the answer that yeah,
- 16:40yeah, and oh my god. And then we find out. So it
- 16:44turns out Goldie Roger found out that he was really ill, he was terminal,
- 16:49and that's the reason he turned himself in was that he just knew he
- 16:53was on his way out anyway. So the crew began to like slowly break
- 17:00up before he turned himself in, so that they wouldn't all just be like
- 17:04caught out. I'm assuming in that way they would have intermingled with society and
- 17:11gotten on with their lives in a more above board way and wouldn't be associated
- 17:18with him by the time he'd put himself to the Marines. But the the
- 17:25doctor that diagnosed him was evidently Crocus, who lives inside of what is his
- 17:37name? La Boom? Yes surprised, Yeah, and like this is a
- 17:48thing that it's very you could go like a little too far with it where
- 17:52everything's connected. Oh, this thing somebody that we met already he turns out
- 17:57to be the one, And sometimes I can get kind of sick of that
- 18:02where it's like, well, or we could just have things be a coincidence,
- 18:06because that's how life works. Also, but this doesn't feel gratuitous,
- 18:10because it's not like we have this happen all the time in this show.
- 18:15We meet lots of people along the way that don't wind up having a tie
- 18:18to anything specific. So having it happen I had no problem with, and
- 18:25especially because Crocus felt like somebody with a backstory that was interesting. It wasn't
- 18:32like I needed to know it, but just from his whole like energy,
- 18:34he just seemed like somebody that had lived a real life, and it made
- 18:41sense to me to find this out, you know, definitely, like actually
- 18:47just today rewatching when you think about it, like like I think really says
- 18:55it that Crocus was like a really gifted doctor, Like he was like apparently
- 19:00brilliant or whatever you want to say. And when you think back to it,
- 19:04this man lives. I mean, he made a whale habitable, habitable,
- 19:11like he has a house in there. He can't walk in there.
- 19:14And like, when you think back, even though we have seen a lot
- 19:17of crazy shit, that is something like living inside the whale and the way
- 19:22it's fine and you are fine, like that is some medicine that is pretty
- 19:27damn impressive when you actually start to think about it. But at the beginning,
- 19:32maybe because it was just the beginning of the grand line, you were
- 19:36just like, well, that's how the things are here, but maybe there
- 19:38was something special there that's true, Like that is kind of what I was
- 19:41thinking when we first got here, was like, well, I guess we're
- 19:45going to encounter some really weird shit here. I mean, but that's true.
- 19:52But thinking back that is really something insane. And Brooke is so like
- 19:59touched because of his connection with Laboon and really says that he was only with
- 20:07them for like three years, but even so, everybody really felt like he
- 20:12was just as much a part of the crew as people who had been with
- 20:15them for a lot longer. Um. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm just
- 20:19seeing. Jessica is in the chat saying I like it too. It makes
- 20:22sense and it adds to Roger's legend as the great pirate king that was never
- 20:26caught. And then when we first met Crocus, he even mentioned Roger.
- 20:30It's so good on reread, Oh what did he say? Do you remember
- 20:34specifically, Jessica. Jessica says, I think at least it's been some time
- 20:40since I saw that. No pressure, but if you know, like what
- 20:45he said exactly, or if you know, Florian, I am curious now,
- 20:51but you don't have to, would you just dog? Oh my god,
- 20:59I I think he said something like, um, Roger either like me?
- 21:07What did he say? Like something? It was not about Roger.
- 21:11It was like he spoke to Roger like he looked the straw heads like sail
- 21:15away and was like something like either he ran Lufi Ryan reminds him of Roger
- 21:22or something like, um, yeah, something in this way, like I
- 21:26think that Luf okay. So he wasn't like speaking to the crew. It
- 21:30was like him talking to himself. Yeah, or maybe in that moment,
- 21:34you know, like because right spirit, okay, whatever, Yeah, that
- 21:40makes sense. It was more in this way. But I don't know the
- 21:44actual words, so don't pay me to them. Yeah, and he says
- 21:51before this, nobody had ever called Roger king of anything. Titles don't hold
- 21:56much meaning for a man about to die, and Roger was still overjoyed to
- 22:06hear it. And I really really like this because it's like basically like a
- 22:14legacy that he created. At the moment that they were taking his life away,
- 22:19he figured out how to do something that ensured he would be as good
- 22:26as immortal, which is very very difficult. And there has been correct me
- 22:36if I'm wrong. There have been a couple things floated around here and there
- 22:40that almost made it seem like Roger might still be out there alive. I
- 22:45don't remember exactly what they were. I just remember there being like suggestion of,
- 22:53well somebody saw him or a person very close or like we found this
- 23:00that was somewhere that he could only have reached after his death or something,
- 23:04and I can't remember what it is. Um. I don't mean to put
- 23:07you on the spot again because I'm just going to be doing this, But
- 23:12if anybody remembers what I'm talking about, unless it's like not really meant to
- 23:18be taken that seriously, I don't know. I'm gonna be honest, I
- 23:22don't remember any of that kind of thing, Okay. Really like when something
- 23:29like this comes up, I feel like it is always meant as his spirit
- 23:34that leaves on, you know, like he's not that he lives on as
- 23:38a like flesh person like right right, human meat sech But sir, but
- 23:49I kitchen comment earlier. Yeah, I'm sorry, Um, yeah, no,
- 23:56but I feel like, I mean, they have been references to him
- 24:00and to like the legacy that he left behind, but I don't remember a
- 24:04specific thing where somebody was like he's among us, He's okay, Yeah,
- 24:14if anybody listening like knows what I'm talking about, because like I said,
- 24:17I can't remember specifics. And that's like one of the only things that can
- 24:22be tough with this show is that there's such a slow burn on certain aspects
- 24:27of it that when you come back around it's like really difficult to remember what
- 24:33they're referencing unless you actually go back and rewatch. And sometimes you get like
- 24:41a very particular flashback, which is great, but you don't always get that.
- 24:48Like with Robbins, she just talks about it and you see like the
- 24:52image of the stone where the writing was, but you don't really get a
- 24:57full flashback to her fi finding it and what was going on at the time.
- 25:03So I still, even with like the image of it and everything,
- 25:07felt as if I was sort of piecing things together and not fully remembering at
- 25:15all. But we'll get to that in a second, because she's about to
- 25:19start talking in a moment. Let's see, I'm just reading what Railey is
- 25:25saying a future that he wouldn't be a part of the Pirates were secretly disbanded,
- 25:30and we have some interesting animation while he's talking about this part of a
- 25:36giant bubble with lots of like little bubbles inside it, and it pops and
- 25:40the little bubbles go, you know, they're separate ways, and he just
- 25:45says, like, as far as I know, they all might be alive
- 25:48out there, but I have no idea what they're actually doing now. And
- 25:52it took about a year after that for him to turn himself in. And
- 26:00let's see, he was going to be executed publicly in log Town, which
- 26:03we already knew. And they're using the imagery in this part that was from
- 26:12the original opening, which I think is kind of fun. And he says
- 26:18the people who bore witnessed in the square that fateful day went on to make
- 26:21names for themselves on the high seas. So basically the whole thing that the
- 26:26Navy the Marines were trying to do was used Roger as an examples like tamped
- 26:37down pirate activity. But because of what Roger said, it led to everybody
- 26:47who even folks who had not originally been intending to become pirates, getting possessed
- 26:52with this like fever and going oh well, yeah, now we're going to
- 26:57definitely go out there and like I'm this treasure. And it had the exact
- 27:00opposite effect of what the Marines intended, which is actually very funny and I
- 27:07really like that a lot too. Yes, just him giving an extra fuck
- 27:12you before he what didn't he get stabbed with spears? Is that how the
- 27:21execution went? Yes, Apparently in this world, it's kind of like too
- 27:27spearsful. I feel like they're supposed to punctuate you hot from both sides.
- 27:33Okay, Brian says, I posted the page with Crocus talking about mentioning Roger
- 27:41in the no spoilers page. Awesome, thank you, Brian. Um And
- 27:47yeah, he says that, like, the last thing that he said to
- 27:49me was basically, even once they execute me, I won't die. So
- 27:56I enjoy this because, you know, as as much as I knew that
- 28:00he was like a big deal and he has this speech that we hear a
- 28:04million times, I never really understood a lot about his personality. And knowing
- 28:15that he decided to go out like this, I feel like tells me everything
- 28:18I needed to know about the kind of person he is. That he was
- 28:22just like, all right, well, first of all, I'm going to
- 28:26be very organized about it. I never got caught because I'm good at it.
- 28:30But once I do turn myself in, I'm going to make sure that
- 28:34none of you guys are in danger of getting caught. So everybody break apart
- 28:41and go do your thing. And I'm going to make sure that despite the
- 28:45Marines probably having chased him for like ever, despite them doing this for their
- 28:51purpose, I'm going to ensure this becomes their worst nightmare. I love this
- 28:59for him, Yes, I mean it's a way to go. I'm trying
- 29:07to think about, like, what can I do to emulate gold Roger at
- 29:12this point, I would like to know, And I'm taking suggestions everybody for
- 29:21chaos plans that I can leave behind to really like fuck with cops or capitalism.
- 29:30I don't know something, help me out, Well, we'll bring storm
- 29:33it. Maybe if I come up with something good enough, we can all
- 29:37sign a pact that will do the same thing upon our deaths and really fucking
- 29:41cause total chaos. Um. I see um communeiforming more and more from day
- 29:49to day. I'm just there's going to be an unsilber episode about the Commune
- 29:55coming up soon in the next month, I think, because it's just been
- 29:59on my mind for reasons I had heretofore been sort of like maybe we'll just
- 30:07you know, I think I assumed it would be in the US, but
- 30:12maybe not. Maybe I should seek abroad for the unspoiled Commune broads other than
- 30:19myself, Am I right? Okay? I'm so sorry? Oh you go,
- 30:32Okay, I'm just like, all of er shit, can we not
- 30:37just go planet or something? But yeah, okay, one piece, let's
- 30:41go there. Um, so let's see us says it sounds like you're trying
- 30:48to say Roger created the Great Pirate Era on purpose, and he's like,
- 30:53well, there's no way to know for sure. I'm like, there's kind
- 30:56of a way to know for sure, which is the fact that he said
- 31:00when I die, I won't really die. I feel like that's pretty self
- 31:03explanatory there, sir. But okay, and he says they're definitely people who
- 31:11inherited the spirit of adventure from him that day. And when he says that,
- 31:18the camera jumps over to Lufy in the background, absolutely stuffing his face
- 31:29in an attitude of like he's like cross legged on the bar with his mouth
- 31:34full, holding a banana in one hand, stuffing something else into his mouth
- 31:40with the other. And this keeps like being the look of Lufy in the
- 31:45background. And I really really liked this because like it's so easy to be
- 31:52like, oh, somebody, I think that there were a lot of people
- 31:56who inherited his sense of adventure that day. You would normally have the camera
- 32:02turned to Lufy looking serious and focused and formidable, and instead he looks like
- 32:13a four year old in his high chair with like apple sauce all over.
- 32:21It's really not a second. I'm screensharing just so that you guys can get
- 32:29a sense of what I'm talking about, because the let's see chrome tab here
- 32:37it is. That's just him sitting there listening. It's just such a great
- 32:50surprising choice when he's meant to be sort of the hero I think of this
- 32:55whole tale. You know, he's a reprecious angel. So it turns out
- 33:13that the ship that Shanks and Buggy the clown, we're on, this gold
- 33:21Rogers ship. Surprise. Excuse me. I think I have, first of
- 33:29all, been laboring under this misapprehension that the whole thing with Roger took place
- 33:35a lot longer ago than it did. I know that we've I know,
- 33:40we've. Yeah, we've been over the timing of this a million times.
- 33:45I feel like everybody has reminded me of this more than once. But all
- 33:51it took, apparently to erase that timeline from my mind, was having any
- 33:57footage of Goldie Roger in Cepia tone, which immediately put him at least a
- 34:04century earlier at Mini Muscle. Must be he clearly lived in the Old West
- 34:12in the eighteen eighties. Like that's the only reason. So that just like
- 34:20even the possibility that they were on his ship never even entered my head as
- 34:28a possibility. I just didn't think that it was like the timing would have
- 34:31worked out, you know. And I was just like and that just like
- 34:37the like told him me of it, you know, like kind of Shanks
- 34:42was on his shape and become pretty much a badass, you know, and
- 34:45back was on his shape, and I mean Backy's not a badass. He
- 34:52became a badass asterisk, yes, but you know what I mean, Like
- 34:59you you can see that there are different paths. And when I think of,
- 35:07okay, these two were on Roger's crew, then the rest of the
- 35:10crew, like I can start painting a picture in my head, but maybe
- 35:16these were not like the I'm not just gonna say it. I from this
- 35:21moment and I was like, oh, they were like the straw heads of
- 35:22the old like they were yeah, yeah, like they were probably pretty chaotic,
- 35:29yeah, and like a crazy bunch, which is great. I mean
- 35:35I'm trying to think. I know that it's like not likely possible, but
- 35:40just trying to like align some of the characters from his crew to characters on
- 35:46our current crew. I'm trying to think who's the most likely to be Buggy,
- 35:52And I'm so sorry to all of our guys, because none of you
- 35:54are most likely to be Buggy in camp. Promant, power or just overall
- 36:04attitude doesn't match. However, if I were going to go with anybody,
- 36:10I think I'd have to say Frankie, probably because he splits up into like
- 36:16lots of parts. He's just like very wacky. You know, yes,
- 36:22that checks out? No, I agree, I feel like that sort of
- 36:27work. Do you think we will see him again? Like, I mean,
- 36:34so that's a big question. Yes, I I think that I operate
- 36:44watching this show with the assumption that we will always see everybody again, like
- 36:50that there will inevitably be a point where somebody comes back around. Whether or
- 36:54not that's like a filler episode is a different question, because it could be.
- 37:00You know, we had a Foxy Pirates come up in another filler arcum.
- 37:07But I have just been assuming that we're probably going to see folks again
- 37:14at some point, whether it's like some big showdown where we have a lot
- 37:20of our our old enemies all turn up at the same time kind of thing.
- 37:25The thing is like Buggy was only a real challenge to the old Lufy
- 37:32And I don't know if nowadays he would present any difficulty whatsoever, and whether
- 37:40I want to see him again a little. He's just so strange. Yes,
- 37:51you know, yes, No, I totally get it, he's absolutely
- 38:00Yeah. I was just thinking about the life action now. I'm just like,
- 38:01I hope they do it, do him just this, because he is
- 38:05like one of a kind of a character kind of Yeah, definitely. I
- 38:10kept thinking because, like I watched the trailer, which looks very promising,
- 38:17and it made me laugh to think how the first site you get of Buggy
- 38:23the Clown, if you aren't familiar with one piece, you would be like,
- 38:30oh great, we've got like this Joker type character, or we've got
- 38:34a penny Why is the clown type character? Like the look of him is
- 38:39such that you would expect him to be a certain type of villain. And
- 38:45I am so curious to see what the reaction is of people who watch the
- 38:52live action who have never watched the anime before, Like I would love to
- 39:00know what they think they're getting. With Buggy and then see how they react
- 39:05to what they do get with Buggy, because I just feel like his packaging
- 39:10does not match the interior, you know what I'm saying, Yes, no,
- 39:17absolutely it is. Some people online say, I mean nobody has what's
- 39:27it called. These are just like thoughts of people. But a lot of
- 39:30people think that maybe they will take like a darker route with party Buggy,
- 39:37but I personally don't believe that. Like I feel like they will probably build
- 39:39him up and then at some point they would kind of like knock him down
- 39:44and then you will see how silly he was, which actually happened in the
- 39:47anime because in the first, like I feel like the first one or two
- 39:51episodes he see episodes, he seems like foreboding, but then yeah, yeah,
- 39:57he gets kind of revealed and you're like, oh, you're you're yeah.
- 40:05Yeah. I hope they don't want sorry, just one more common on
- 40:08the live action, but I hope that they don't do the like we're gonna
- 40:12go a darker red Like. The thing that I think is a major pitfall
- 40:17for things like the DC universe is this bizarre urge to try and adultify stuff
- 40:25that is on its face silly. Comics are silly a lot of the time,
- 40:31you know, And the MCU did a really good job, I felt
- 40:35like, of managing to like make certain things feel like they were high stakes,
- 40:39but preserving the goofiness and just enough that it felt like it was still
- 40:46understanding what it was and not making itself too important. And DC has just
- 40:52never really recently seemed very good at that. They seem to want everything to
- 40:58be like big metaphors and shades of gray. And when I say shades of
- 41:02gray, I don't mean like storytelling. I mean literally on the screen,
- 41:06everything is gray and gritty is the new Like I say that this has kind
- 41:14of fallen by the wayside, Thank god, I feel like, but I
- 41:16hope that they don't gritify. I don't think so. And I feel like
- 41:24camp it's campy, like like it's camp these stories campy. So just let
- 41:34it's embracing exactly. Um okay, So yeah, this is when lufy I
- 41:42love when he because Louvie Free sounds like, wait, Shanks was on the
- 41:46crew with you and really sort of stops and just goes, I take it
- 41:52he never told you. And there's a sort of vibe to him of just
- 41:55like, maybe I shouldn't have said anything. Why didn't he tell you?
- 42:01You know? Yeah, and that's how that's why he like specifically mentioned Lufy's
- 42:09straw hat because he recognized it from Shanks. I thought it was that he
- 42:16saw it from the poster, you know, like he's he's wearing the hat
- 42:21and the poster. I just assumed, you know, but yeah, he's
- 42:27let's say, there's a kid in the East Blue said the same thing.
- 42:30Captain Rogers said his spirit lives on in him, and Raliu says, yeah,
- 42:36I've remembered that and ever since I've wanted to meet you. And Lufy
- 42:42is so touched. It's really really cute. He pulls his head, his
- 42:45hat over his face and he goes, oh, Shanks, which felt like
- 42:51they were making a little bit of a joke here with aw shucks. I
- 42:53don't know if that was intended, though. Jessica says, by the way,
- 43:02you can see Rayley during the Buggy flashback in episode eight or so,
- 43:09you can see like a younger Rayleigh. But it's also the art style back
- 43:16then is kind of different, So it's supposed to be the same character,
- 43:21but they are not exactly the same. Although he's younger. Episode eight,
- 43:27that's very early on for him to have like my goodness, well okay,
- 43:38so yeah. Then Rayley is basically like, there's other shit that I could
- 43:42say about Shanks, but since he hasn't even told you he was part of
- 43:45the crew, I am not going to tell you anymore about it. Just
- 43:49you know, he's in the New World and he is waiting for you and
- 43:53very excited to see you again. So that's fun. I'm looking forward to
- 43:59seeing Shanks again, Like you know, we saw that recent thing with him
- 44:02and his hockey development, so I'm curious. I want to know more.
- 44:14And then it's time for him to go and coat the ship, and Hatschi
- 44:21is like, how much is not going to cost, by the way,
- 44:22and he assures them that he is not going to charge them, but that
- 44:28it will take like three days or so because it needs to dry the coating,
- 44:32so it takes some patience. And as he is talking about all of
- 44:38this with them, Robin is off to the side looking like really pressed,
- 44:46and we are getting some flashback moments from her, and she finally stands up
- 44:52and says, I have a question here. It is what exactly is the
- 45:02will of d there was a ponent glyph on Sky Island. Roger's name was
- 45:08inscribed on it in that ancient form of writing. How does he know it
- 45:13and how can he use that language? And what he wrote was I made
- 45:19it here and I will guide this passage all the way to the farthest ends
- 45:23of the earth. And then she says, please tell me, do you
- 45:30know what happened during the Blank century? The Missing History from nine hundred years
- 45:37ago? Which I'm going to be real with y'all. I completely forgot about
- 45:44this whole thing, completely utterly and totally forgot. Yeah, just genuinely took
- 46:00me a minute to even remember what the hell she was talking about here.
- 46:05And Raley says, yes, we know, and says we all learned the
- 46:15entirety of the Missing History, and Robin is just like floored, and we
- 46:22have the animation of her just standing there with like leaves blowing around her.
- 46:27And then he says, but don't be hasty. Your journey has to keep
- 46:34moving forward. And then this is the we and O'Hara might have hurried too
- 46:45much for our own good. I'm sure that's not what you wanted to hear.
- 46:50Even if I told you everything you wanted to know about that history here
- 46:53and now, just as you are, you couldn't do anything about it.
- 46:59Once you've taken in the time to really see the world, it might change
- 47:02your outlook and possibly lead you to a different answer. But if you still
- 47:07insist on hearing it, I can tell you everything. It's up to you,
- 47:15and I gotta tell you guys, I feel like you should just have
- 47:21gotten the information. Noah spoilers, Natasha. I just feel like whether or
- 47:30not you can do anything about it right now isn't exactly the part that's relevant.
- 47:37Maybe you can't do anything about it now, but you can work to
- 47:39the point that you can. And if you know what it is that you
- 47:43want to that you're going to be dealing with, maybe you'll be able to
- 47:47formulate a plan that is more focused towards developing the skills necessary to do what
- 47:55you need to do. But she says no, I'll pass and continue my
- 48:04journey, and he assures her that it will make sense one of these days.
- 48:15But just so you know, Roger did not decipher that writing. See
- 48:21we were not scholars. He heard the voice of the universe. He says,
- 48:30he heard the voice of the universe quote, and that's all that happened,
- 48:42casually, And that's all that happened. Yeah, what is that supposed
- 48:54to mean? Oh? You know, he just heard the profound voice of
- 49:00all creations speaking within him and it's not a big deal. What are you
- 49:09fuck you talking about? Sir? Nobody in the room asks him what the
- 49:22fuck this means? It's just immediately jumping to oos up going Robin, are
- 49:28you sure you don't want to know? It seems like you're passing up a
- 49:30really good opportunity. Look us up. I get what you're saying, but
- 49:36can we please back up and take another look at the fact that he is
- 49:42just talking about how Roger heard the voice of the universe. Nobody wants to
- 49:49know more about what the fuck that means? What the fuck? Where's everybody's
- 49:58curiosity? What's happening? Oh? I love it? Well? I oh
- 50:06god, maybe I can shed a little light on this, not too much
- 50:12from the there's nothing you can say, Florian, Okay, maybe that will
- 50:17make you make any sense to me, but please please continue. I feel
- 50:23like, as far as I know, in the when you actually translate it,
- 50:28it is the voice of all things, and I feel like they understand
- 50:36it as he was just kind of in tune or like he yeah, he
- 50:45when they understand voice of all things, I feel like they mean more like
- 50:47the voice of the people. But I listened to other one piece podcasts and
- 50:53I did that's what was sit there, So I can I believe you've been
- 50:58cheating at me with other one piece podcast Wow? Rude, But it is
- 51:05like kind of yeah, it is a one thing. I never noticed it
- 51:08as much as you did. What the fuck is what all of you guys?
- 51:15You and when the fucking straw hats just being like oh is that it?
- 51:20Okay? Oh whatever, I've lost interest. What the hell you're over
- 51:24here? Like, well, you know, I'm pretty sure that it just
- 51:27meant that he suddenly felt in tune with the entirety of all things ever created.
- 51:32That's not less compelling, Florian. That's not a explanation. I know,
- 51:39I know. I'm sorry. M M yeah, what what do you
- 51:47think? What think what this means? Like like if if if that is
- 51:55indeed what happened, if he just heard the voice of the universe verse and
- 52:00somehow knew how to write, then it means the Pono glyphs have all been
- 52:08written by people who are hearing the Voice of All Things because Robin knew how
- 52:16to decipher it, and she, excuse me, she has determined that was
- 52:22written in the same language as the rest of the ponoglyph So I have to
- 52:29assume somehow the Voice of all Things. I really can't with that that this
- 52:40is what people had been channeling then too. But I don't understand how it's
- 52:45treated like so casually here, like it's just a given, like everybody knows
- 52:52that. It's like saying he's like it's like he's like, oh, he
- 52:53just taped it into Google Translate, no big deal. Basically that's that.
- 53:00It's the level of total cavalier like nonchalance about it. And I do not
- 53:07understand how everybody just lets that go, including apparently Florian, who is like,
- 53:16I didn't think about it that much. I don't know what. I
- 53:22don't know what to think. I just I'm just gonna say, you're ready,
- 53:28really good at your Natasha, I listen. I don't even know what
- 53:40to do with that. But maybe that has something to do with like what
- 53:46the Lost century was that, like the voice of the universe was lost or
- 53:52something like if it's a language, the thing is how does Robin know how
- 53:58to decipher it? Is it from the library that she grew up in.
- 54:02I can't remember, because I'm sure we has been told this, but I
- 54:05can't recall. Yeah, they all like, it's not like they actually deciphered
- 54:09it. Like it was not like they knew it from the beginning. They
- 54:14had to study and then learned and were somehow able to start to decipher it.
- 54:19And that's where and that's why the whole island could glue blown up because
- 54:23it is forbidden to study this by the world government. Right because the Pona
- 54:30glyphs all have to do with the Lost century, the Void century, is
- 54:36that we get that's the blank century, the void century. These two terms,
- 54:43I feel like a frown around lost a blank and void century. Okay,
- 54:50huh, Well, I know that it's likely not related, but I'm
- 55:00going to put forth a very wobbly sort of theory here, and that is
- 55:10something to do with this lost century is related to these asshole celestial dragons being
- 55:20here. I think because I don't like them. They're bad people, and
- 55:27I feel like since they are in charge at the highest levels and studying this
- 55:34is forbidden. The only reason that people keep things from being studied is because
- 55:42they will be taken down using the information. So something to do with them,
- 55:50and I'm hoping it's about how they have like a weakness to some very
- 55:55particular mineral that we can just poison all the celestial wagons with and then we
- 56:01don't have to deal with their bullshit anymore. That's just my my vague series,
- 56:08okay. And this is when us Up stands up and he says,
- 56:17old guy, I've got a question of my own, the legendary one Piece.
- 56:22Tell me is it really? And Lufy jumps in and yells that's enough
- 56:30and slams his foot on the bar. Pour us Up looks so scared,
- 56:39and Lufy says, I don't want to know where the One Piece is.
- 56:43I don't even want to know if it exists. We set out to see
- 56:47without knowing anything. I'd rather give up being a pirate than no. I
- 56:54won't go on a boring adventure. We need to sail and find out for
- 57:00ourselves. Now. Look, I know what he's coming. I understand the
- 57:13spirit of what he's saying here, and I respect it. I do.
- 57:17I feel like that's a noble pursuit, and I like it to the business
- 57:30I'm the journey is the destination and all that. However, I posit an
- 57:40argument, which is, you go on an adventure to find a thing,
- 57:46and you meet somebody directly related to the thing you want to find after years
- 57:58of travel. It seems like to me that's not cheating. This is the
- 58:07thing you set out to do is find somebody who knows information and get that
- 58:14information to then make your next move. You don't just aimlessly wander with no
- 58:22info at all, which is what they have been doing. So I say,
- 58:28you don't just but that's precisely what the show has been up to this
- 58:31point. And I see that I get it, but he's acting like by
- 58:38getting the information here, it's the equivalent of like flipping to the end of
- 58:44the book and reading the last page. Unless the one piece is literally in
- 58:51this man's pocket right now and he can hand it to you and be like,
- 58:55oh, yeah, I have it, and he like, we're willing
- 59:00to do that. Also unless that getting information from him is still part of
- 59:08the adventure because you still have to go get it, you know, like
- 59:16assuming it exists, and if it doesn't exist, if he were like,
- 59:22oh, there is no one piece, I do not imagine for a single
- 59:25moment that Lufy would believe him or listen to him. If he was like
- 59:30said anything counter to what Lufy wants, It would not matter, he would
- 59:36one percent. Lufy would just continue his pursuit anyway. It wouldn't matter.
- 59:42So I feel that while Lufy is acting like usup's goal here is like the
- 59:47antithesis of their mission and journey and quest. I think it falls precisely within
- 59:57the parameters of their mission and journey and quest. So that's my ass my
- 1:00:04argument there. What do you think I do agree with you? The only
- 1:00:12thing I should say is it's boring. So but how do you know it's
- 1:00:20boring? Because for all we know, he could be like, well,
- 1:00:25it's definitely real. But like I said, we all broke off a year
- 1:00:31before he even turned himself in, so I don't fucking know where it is.
- 1:00:36Maybe that'd be what he said. We'll never know because Lufy has to
- 1:00:39interrupt the conversation for his own ends. But this man may not, like
- 1:00:45he may not know where it is. Lufy's behaving is if he can pull
- 1:00:50out a map with an X exactly where they need to go. And I
- 1:00:52would just like to say even if he could do that, can we all
- 1:00:59look back, Ah, what adventures our friends have run into simply trying to
- 1:01:04get from one island to another. Just having a map telling you this is
- 1:01:08where it is does not keep it from being an adventure. Well, I'm
- 1:01:15gonna say, I mean you have said aimlessly. It is not aimlessly because
- 1:01:20it is said that, and that is actually information they got from Krokus at
- 1:01:23the very beginning that the last island of the grand line is where Roger or
- 1:01:32left or one piece or like where not that was not the exact wording,
- 1:01:37but basically where it's most likely to be, you know, like and yeah,
- 1:01:44and if you follow the log post so you hope from island to island,
- 1:01:46that will get you there eventually. M So basically the route is kind
- 1:01:53of clear. Um, the question is just what it is? So that's
- 1:02:00the proper do want it? Because he even though he doesn't know the exact
- 1:02:05route, he kind of knows how where to get how to get there,
- 1:02:09so he doesn't want to know what's the end there? What's waiting? Okay,
- 1:02:16Well, let's see I'm going back to when he says the one piece,
- 1:02:21tell me is it really? And then he gets cut off, so
- 1:02:25it's difficult to know. I wasn't taking it like he was asking what it
- 1:02:31is specifically, although maybe it could have been that he was saying, is
- 1:02:36it really like tons of gold? Um? I thought he was about to
- 1:02:40say, like, is it really true? But I didn't remember Crocus telling
- 1:02:46them that it was probably like the very last island on the Grand line.
- 1:02:51So see, this is what's so important. They're they're like a lot of
- 1:02:55what turn out in the in the grand scheme to be like important pieces of
- 1:03:00information, but in the short term they aren't really important to remember. So
- 1:03:07I put them out of my head because there's so much in the immediate that
- 1:03:10I need to remember people's names, you know, all of this stuff that's
- 1:03:15like you know who, who has what powers and who's associated with what entity?
- 1:03:22That trying to keep in mind the bigger stuff, I just don't do
- 1:03:29it. I don't bother because it often takes so long to circle back around
- 1:03:32to it. So Croak is saying that it's not even like, oh now
- 1:03:38I remember, I don't remember that at all. I believe you, but
- 1:03:43I really truly have no memory of that at all. So apologies, No,
- 1:03:49it's fine, Like and that's kind of like the curse of such a
- 1:03:52long series and maybe, yeah, that's definitely drawn out at parts, but
- 1:04:00then the benefit of that it is like really a rewarding series to watch again
- 1:04:06or read again. It is like really astonishing when you go back and you
- 1:04:13just see so many little moments and yeah, that's that's I wonder how they
- 1:04:21do it. Writers who plan this far ahead. That's truly bonkers to me,
- 1:04:28Like I could never It's the sort of thing where I feel like,
- 1:04:30if I attempted something like this, I would just spend eternity in the planning
- 1:04:34stages and would never actually get to the point where I'm like writing the story
- 1:04:39because I would be so wrapped up in all of like the backstory stuff,
- 1:04:43you know. But anyway, yeah, Lufy is very very intent on this
- 1:04:50USAP apologizes, and Shocky, for her part, is like, well,
- 1:04:56I really like the cuttier jib. But Rayley says, just so you know,
- 1:05:05when you get to the New World, you are going to encounter foes
- 1:05:12unlike any that you have faced so far. Do you really think that you
- 1:05:17can like be king of the Sea. And I love this moment so much
- 1:05:24because basically Lufy's like king of the Sea. Who the fuck said anything about
- 1:05:29that? I didn't. I don't want to be king of the sea.
- 1:05:31That's not did you have you been listening? We want we want to know
- 1:05:34about the one piece. That's what we're here for. King of the Sea
- 1:05:38is a whole other thing that's not interesting for me at all. And Rayley
- 1:05:43is basically like, oh, that's basically how Will Roger was. Also,
- 1:05:48you really do sort of remind me of him. You know. Lufy has
- 1:05:54no desire to rule. He doesn't want to fucking like be in charge.
- 1:06:00That's not his ministry, as Rasha must say, which is kind of interesting
- 1:06:09because actually in the whole series so far, this is like the first time
- 1:06:14where we as a viewer kind of idea of what it means for Lufy to
- 1:06:21become King of the Pirates. You know, like you could very well think
- 1:06:26of he wants to rule, you know, but I mean that's not Lufy.
- 1:06:30But now he's saying out loud like, no, that's not the that's
- 1:06:33not the part that I want, you know, Like yeah, And it's
- 1:06:38I'm finding like really interesting to finally hear him kind of say what he thinks
- 1:06:44this means. But what he accomplishes here, you know, which is kinda
- 1:06:48also a wild thing. It's like episode four hundred. So but yeah,
- 1:06:57I mean, I oh sorry, go ahead. Yeah, I just want
- 1:07:00to just just a quick shout out to Shaky. She's just the best.
- 1:07:03I love her. Yeah, she's delightful because he just mentioned her and totally
- 1:07:10forgot about her. There's so much other things here. So yeah, this
- 1:07:17like the as you point out, like looking at the way Lufy is approaching
- 1:07:24this. When he called himself like I want to be King of the Pirates,
- 1:07:27I never really took that as like I want to be in charge.
- 1:07:29I always just took that as like I want to be considered the best one.
- 1:07:32I want to be the one that found the thing that everybody's after,
- 1:07:36just to be able to say I did not because of anything that like,
- 1:07:42I'm really going to get out of it. So at this point, you
- 1:07:50guys, I love this so much. At this point, they start talking
- 1:07:56about what they're gonna do while they wait for really to finish coating the ship,
- 1:08:00and they have to split up in order to sort of not draw attention
- 1:08:04to themselves and lie Low and Raley is like, I'm gonna give you guys
- 1:08:12one of these cards. It's a Viver card. And when he says this
- 1:08:15and is talking about it, he's outside of their bar slash home and he
- 1:08:24has strapped to his body what looks like a huge, maybe like dropcloth or
- 1:08:33something, a massive wide paint brush and like smaller detail paint brush. He's
- 1:08:43got two like smaller paint brushes. And when I say massive, I mean
- 1:08:45they are literally twice his height. And I am really crossing my fingers that
- 1:08:51we get to see him using these brushes, because I don't even know how
- 1:08:56that would work, Like what even does that look like? I would like
- 1:09:00to know. I just this is the whole look of this is so crazy
- 1:09:04huge. But yeah, this is when he says that it's going to take
- 1:09:10three days, and the the whole crew is just sort of in disagreement about
- 1:09:18how they're going to lay low. What Lufy of course wants to do,
- 1:09:21which keeps coming up, is to go back to the amusement park, which
- 1:09:27they insist is not a good idea, but I frankly can't even say that.
- 1:09:31It seems like a worse idea than any other thing. Like they're just
- 1:09:38out here walking around out in the open as it is anyway, Why is
- 1:09:43that more dangerous than just wandering in the open the way they are, you
- 1:09:48know, I don't know. It feels like either way or sort of courting
- 1:09:54disaster. No, why what happens disaster will follow a straw. So they
- 1:10:02leave Hatchie with Shocky because he is still resting, and all of them have
- 1:10:11VIVER cards. And I think that it's like Zoro who says something about he's
- 1:10:16the one who initially says they need to split up, and rightfully SANGI is
- 1:10:21just like that feels like not a great idea coming from you in particular,
- 1:10:26and I am hoping that, you know, I just can we fit him
- 1:10:33with like a tracking device? Can we get him one of those like air
- 1:10:36tags and just sort of put it around his neck. We jump from here
- 1:10:43right before the episode ends to town and there's this fucking massive explosion and a
- 1:10:50dude, Kiseru in his like pretty amazing yellow striped suit is stay in there
- 1:11:00with the explosions still going behind him, and in the dub he sounds so
- 1:11:08casual and says, I'm just gonna I'm gonna try and imitate hold on,
- 1:11:15I'm just gonna like go back and just turn the sound on for just a
- 1:11:17second, because I really want to get like he's riding on a cannonball into
- 1:11:25the midst of these people. It's all pirates, I guess. So he
- 1:11:32says, uh, this is Keiseru. Um, I'm arrived on site completely
- 1:11:45without any particular inflection. The man literally rode a cannonball. And he didn't
- 1:11:51when I say he wrote a cannonball, I know what I would be thinking,
- 1:11:57which is that his butt is on the cannon ball. No, he
- 1:12:01is standing on the cannonball like a giant exclamation mark and just lands amongst everybody
- 1:12:13and then just starts like communicating with his own people. I am going to
- 1:12:17go on record right now. I love Kiseru. He is a fucking weird
- 1:12:27energy character. We had a lot of characters with wild designs and whatnot,
- 1:12:33but his design is so ordinary in a lot of ways. Combined with the
- 1:12:41like extremely chill vibe of the voice actor, combined with his dialogue itself.
- 1:12:50I don't know what to think of this guy. He's so relaxed and so
- 1:12:55like, I'm just you know, I'm here to have a good time.
- 1:12:58No you're not. You're not here to have a good time. You're to
- 1:13:00do like a job, but there's a real vibe of like no, you
- 1:13:04know, like I'm having an I'm not a nice time. His whole face,
- 1:13:14like the design of his face is so good. There's so many of
- 1:13:17the other characters look so kind of I don't want to stay generic because it's
- 1:13:25true, but it's like a lot of characters will have a sort of extreme
- 1:13:31look to them that is still very cartoony. He's really real to me.
- 1:13:38Mm hmm you yes, once again, you're really good at your chop um.
- 1:13:44He is actually inspired one of the few characters from a real life Japanese
- 1:13:49actor that really it ours and so he basically modeled at least a facial at
- 1:13:59the facial structure of this character after so interesting. You clocked that right away
- 1:14:08kind of You're like it looks around and it was like, yeah, he
- 1:14:13so, do you know what the name of the actor is. I'm gonna
- 1:14:15look at this person. Somebody share it in the discord. Yeah, if
- 1:14:19somebody could share it, it would be great. I don't know it on
- 1:14:23top of my head, but yeah, fun fact and yeah, he is
- 1:14:27like a really kind of weird as you said, never really been seen in
- 1:14:33this kind of capacity in this story, you know, and it is just
- 1:14:36kind of like, man, you like, I'm gonna be honest. I
- 1:14:42did not like him in the sense of like I was just like, use
- 1:14:46my trouble. Yeah that's fair. Yes, I really like hmmm, but
- 1:14:54yes, like I like it. You know. There's just something about his
- 1:15:00voice and how like the way he speaks is like when truckers come in on
- 1:15:08like CBE radios and they're just like just checking in, or like a pilot
- 1:15:14who's coming down for a landing, you know, runway secure. We got
- 1:15:18some weather going on. We'll be landing in thirty minutes and it's seventy two
- 1:15:23degrees partially sunny. I hope you all have a pleasant time in Orlando.
- 1:15:28Thanks for flying Delta. That's like what he sounds like to me. Wow,
- 1:15:36I mean he already flew in, so you know, maybe you're you
- 1:15:40also have a key nice. I don't know if that's what he sounds like
- 1:15:45when you do the sub his voice made me totally dolts. They'll do a
- 1:15:49really different vibe sometimes, but yeah, no, date actually did. Also
- 1:15:55in the original he speaks really slowly and yes, is like chill. I
- 1:16:02wonder if that's also based on the actor. Probably don't know that that part.
- 1:16:09I don't know. Yeah, I mean, we don't have so much
- 1:16:14time left, that's true. Oh my god. How about in this episode
- 1:16:20I can give you, like I know this episode and it is like a
- 1:16:24lot of characters that we seem I can tell you, I know on the
- 1:16:29top of my head who is all here and what we see. So if
- 1:16:33you want too, we can kind of do a quick lightning round. Let's
- 1:16:35do that, because that really the episode is that it's just an opportunity to
- 1:16:41jump from one of the pirates or admirals or whatever to the other and show
- 1:16:45us what their powers are. So yeah, yeah, tell me tell me
- 1:16:49so, I mean we already started with Kissaru and he lands there and gets
- 1:16:56kind of shot, but nothing happens, and later on we see he's a
- 1:17:00room walking up to Hawkins. So Hawkins the Matician has like his terro carts
- 1:17:08out and gets kicked like he's a room. Yeah, like do you I
- 1:17:15kis are basically say what's his powers? Over? Um, that's what it
- 1:17:19feels like to get kicked at the speed of light? I think it's what
- 1:17:23he says, yes, which I feel like that would just liquefier insids probably
- 1:17:30like in real life. Probably, But I mean, I do you know
- 1:17:36what his powers are? Like what would you what power would you give him?
- 1:17:41Well, I'm not totally sure yet because like the shot that goes it
- 1:17:45seems like through his head doesn't do anything. So I can't like, is
- 1:17:51he moving, is he dodging it so fast that they can't see it happening,
- 1:17:59or because you know, doing things at the speed of light. There's
- 1:18:04a lot of room for interpretation for me on how that would work, because
- 1:18:09you know, physically, like I don't get how where your limits are with
- 1:18:15that? So is that how he dodged that bullet? Mm hmm. I
- 1:18:19mean maybe we have seen like for example, ace or crocodile getting shot like
- 1:18:28punched that and or smoker and it also didn't do anything to them. So
- 1:18:31maybe it's that kind of power you know, where like yeah, where his
- 1:18:35body is like insubstantial, yes, exactly, or he means made of light.
- 1:18:45Maybe I don't know what um So I'm going a little bit creek.
- 1:18:54So Hawkin gets Hawkanes get smashed into a wall, and he predicted I feel
- 1:18:58like he predicted that he's not going to Die doesn't look like it right now,
- 1:19:03but he seems to be kind of fine and even Kissaru at this moment.
- 1:19:09It's like, that's weird. Yeah, we see we see like random
- 1:19:14people kind of gai going up in flames or like getting pushed around. M
- 1:19:20Did you get what was going on here or do you have any idea what's
- 1:19:24going on? I do not get what's going on here. I don't know
- 1:19:27if that has to do with hockey as well, like if that's what the
- 1:19:31admirals are also working with, because like hockey has purposely not really been defined
- 1:19:38at all yet, so I don't know what counts and what doesn't. And
- 1:19:43basically, if I see something that I don't understand, that's what I'm going
- 1:19:46to say. It is okay, I'm going to give you a little extra
- 1:19:51insight. We see Hawkins says something like, oh, it is like even
- 1:19:59though I have ten lives, it's your tough foe. And he drops some
- 1:20:04straw mands on the ground, like little straw puppets, the kind of like
- 1:20:09com out of his body. Um, maybe an idea what these little puppets
- 1:20:14are? Are those like, uh, I'm wanted to say, like little
- 1:20:24voodoo dolls mm hmmm, because he's working with Tarot, so he's got like
- 1:20:30the woo woo thing going on already. You know, maybe, um so
- 1:20:34maybe they're doing something. They're bad luck, they're I don't know. I
- 1:20:43feel like I'm just sort of like wildly yeah it's okay, No, it's
- 1:20:48it's just a quick glance at these powers that Um, I like most of
- 1:20:56them to be honest, Like Hockey, he's just this whole magic and terror
- 1:21:01esthetic. I liked it a lot. Um Then, also I would just
- 1:21:09kind of wrap up this scene. Um, this huge monk comes down with
- 1:21:15my god, yeah, Kuma is done also there and he and the monk
- 1:21:23gts like gigantic. Yeah, what's the name of the bear again? Pipo
- 1:21:30pepo? Then he fucking pooh? What is it? Pip poo Peppoo.
- 1:21:39He kicks like do I say it wrong? Okay, I'm sorry, you
- 1:21:45don't know, Okay, pep Pepper? Yeah I think it's Pepper right,
- 1:21:51yes, um, but he kicks uh, oh my god, now I
- 1:21:58forgot his Thank you man, I got Peppo in the brain. Um,
- 1:22:02and it's just basically like what the fuck what are you made at it?
- 1:22:05But yeah, then the monk. He is humongous. He's almost Have you
- 1:22:11seen the Spider Verse movies, not the newer one like the first one.
- 1:22:18I saw the first one. You remember how mister Fisk is designed where he's
- 1:22:23just that giant rectangle with the little head in the middle of it. Yes,
- 1:22:27that's kind of what the monks reminding me of here. He looks crazy
- 1:22:32Squares only No. Yeah, he's got a very sort of hulk look to
- 1:22:39him, kind of why yes, yeah. And then the last person in
- 1:22:44this group to kind of show up is Drake x Drake, and he seems
- 1:22:51to be um like he helps that, he goes against Kuma, and then
- 1:22:57he sees Kisaru and he's kind of like, oh fuck, if I knew
- 1:23:00you were here, I wouldn't be like and Kissa calls him rear at me
- 1:23:06world, so he calls Drake by navy title basically and yeah, and what
- 1:23:19Drake also says, it's not like he seems like to know, you know,
- 1:23:25like they somehow also they have a history now, yes, yeah,
- 1:23:32And I think the last guy, the other guy is just watching APU is
- 1:23:38his name, Like this really weird looking guy on the roofs and with the
- 1:23:43two elbows. Per yes, his teeth. I think it's just supposed to
- 1:23:48be that his teeth are set at a strange angle so that there's spaces between
- 1:23:53them at the top but it looks like piano keys because it's like the white.
- 1:23:58But then up towards the gum wine are these like black spaces that look
- 1:24:01like the flats, you know. And I kept being like, what is
- 1:24:05with this guy? He's so unpleasant looking. I really do not like anytime
- 1:24:10he's on screen. I don't like his energy, I don't like the voice
- 1:24:13of the voice actor. I don't like his design. The two elbows is
- 1:24:17also just so off putting, Like, yes, it is weird, but
- 1:24:24he's just basically like I just want to see what happens, Like there's a
- 1:24:28chaos vibe to him of definitely no like from like designing wise, I have
- 1:24:35to say he is definitely my least favorite out of these like new pirates that
- 1:24:41we get to know here. You know, he's like, I'm just like,
- 1:24:44h get off screen, yeah agree? So yes, um so we
- 1:24:51do get little flashbacks to Bonnie, who there's a marine there who's just confused
- 1:25:00because there are only babies and old people around. Um and maybe she did
- 1:25:06something. Maybe, Oh man, I forgot about this whole thing, because
- 1:25:14she made herself small when she ran up to Zoro to stop him from being
- 1:25:21killed, So maybe she can turn people into Like I thought, she just
- 1:25:30shrunk herself, like physically shrunk her size and Zoro didn't get a great look
- 1:25:36at her and was just like, oh, she's just a kid because she
- 1:25:41was the right size. But now I'm thinking that he that she can actually
- 1:25:45like age up or aged down people, and that was what she was doing
- 1:25:53there, and she when she aged herself down, she just looked the same
- 1:25:56basically mostly, but being able to do that to different people other than herself,
- 1:26:03that's really really weird. Like that's not exactly super useful in combat in
- 1:26:13like in the way that you think about fighting, but also if you can
- 1:26:17just age somebody down to where they're a baby again, that just ends the
- 1:26:23fight. So it is useful in combat in that sense. It's just a
- 1:26:28very specific thing that you're trying to do. I would just like to stay
- 1:26:32for the record that I would like to meet her, and do you know
- 1:26:39a thing or two for myself. I wouldn't mind Benjamin buttoning a little bit.
- 1:26:46Yeah, some little self care, you know, yeah, exactly,
- 1:26:49this is a treat well and the other person we kind of get the Lowso
- 1:26:56look at is of God. I hate it's his name, gang, Gang,
- 1:27:00bitch or BESHI like this al Capone looking guy. Yeah, and I
- 1:27:08forgot about I just think of him as Capone in my head. We could
- 1:27:12just go with that. Yeah, that's fine. I don't like his normal
- 1:27:15name, like that's no good phonetics to it. Um that he has like
- 1:27:23people coming out of him. M I find this weird, like like I'm
- 1:27:30comfortable real, you know, like I don't like you know, when you
- 1:27:39are watching One Piece and you say I find this weird, that ship must
- 1:27:45be really fucking weird, because all this show is is one weirdo after another
- 1:27:53doing shit that's really like, oh, completely unhinged basically. So yeah,
- 1:28:01I he makes a sort of like circle around himself that I'm trying to like
- 1:28:11watch the way that this goes down, because exactly the order in which it
- 1:28:16happens. There's a point where they're firing at him, and then there's a
- 1:28:20bunch of smoke, and then all of a sudden we've got people like not
- 1:28:28only do they come out of him, but it seems like, let's see
- 1:28:33here it is, look at his stomach, there's something coming out. We've
- 1:28:36got all these people on horseback, so he produces horses also. Somehow I
- 1:28:51really appreciate that. One of the marines just yells, oh, come on,
- 1:28:55that's ridiculous. Yes, yes, there it is. But yeah,
- 1:29:01they come and like run these guys down. And I didn't really get a
- 1:29:05great look at him, but it seemed like he, like all of the
- 1:29:11people on horseback, looked different. It's not because initially I had thought he
- 1:29:16made copies of himself, but then when you see them, they are all
- 1:29:20really distinctive, and they all a lot of them have suits on. There's
- 1:29:25a couple of guys who look a little bit more like cowboys, and he's
- 1:29:30got like a trap door in his stomach that they apparently jumped out of.
- 1:29:36So he just was holding them in there and didn't really do any of the
- 1:29:43fighting himself. He just summoned them and stood there. Which that's really the
- 1:29:47life, that's the way to live, you know. That's what what's his
- 1:29:53name, Moria want? It's about the yeah, true, And they've kind
- 1:29:58of round about way. Yeah, so let me think we have all of
- 1:30:05the rookies kind of we see again law and kid fighting Kumam and then like
- 1:30:15we also see the straw Hats encountering him, like encounter, Yeah, and
- 1:30:21Lufy I keep forgetting like he was not conscious, so he doesn't get who
- 1:30:27this guy is, and the straw Hats are like, are you kidding me?
- 1:30:30This fucking guy? And Lucy's literally just like what who's that? And
- 1:30:34I just keep forgetting. This always happens with him, because you know,
- 1:30:38that's how it always has to go in a lot of the stories is that
- 1:30:41Lufy gets separated from everybody and winds up like put down, out of the
- 1:30:45main fight for a little while. So oftentimes there will be a thing that
- 1:30:50he doesn't even like he wasn't there for or wasn't didn't see um But I
- 1:30:57had forgotten about Kuma because I had sort of thought Lufi was still fighting Maria
- 1:31:03in his like superbody when Kuma showed up, but Kuma didn't reach them yet.
- 1:31:11Kuma was dealing with pirona excuse me? So yeah, And for his
- 1:31:20part, Zoro catches sight of Kuma and is like, something's weird about this
- 1:31:25guy, Like, you know, he remembers what he was like last time,
- 1:31:29and he's thinking he doesn't really seem the same. And I have no
- 1:31:31idea what to make of that if, like, if the guy is a
- 1:31:35robot, basically, it could just be that he's just a completely rebuilt It
- 1:31:42could be that this is a second robot that looks like him, but isn't
- 1:31:45the one that Zoro interacted with. I don't know, but I thought it
- 1:31:50was really interesting that he picked up on something being different. Yeah, it
- 1:31:58is going to beating fisting. Yeah, I don't cannot just ask you cruick
- 1:32:06prediction or like, no idea what's going to happen or like, because it
- 1:32:11is sad it ready needs three days to finish days. So what we do
- 1:32:20I do not know. I have to say now, I do not think
- 1:32:27going to the amusement park is the right thing to do, just for the
- 1:32:30record. But the only thing that I can think of is like hiding under
- 1:32:35the tree roots, because that's the only place that we've seen where you're kind
- 1:32:41of sheltered and out of sight. Otherwise, it's pretty open on the island
- 1:32:46surface, and it doesn't seem like there's much vegetation to hide behind. There's
- 1:32:51not a lot of shrubs and stuff. It's just like flat lawn and roots.
- 1:32:57So if you're wanting to literally hide, that was like the only place
- 1:33:00to go. But I don't know they could hide in buildings. I guess.
- 1:33:04I just they're in the middle of the fight now. I just don't
- 1:33:08know how much hiding is going to be their tactic at this point. So
- 1:33:13yeah, I don't have much of a prediction. I'm afraid. Oh that's
- 1:33:17fine, like keeps it also interesting? True? All right, Well,
- 1:33:26is there anything else you want to say before we wrap it up about the
- 1:33:30episodes? No, I don't think so. I'm excited to see your reactions,
- 1:33:35reactions to what will come and your commentary on it. And yeah,
- 1:33:41for anybody who wants to follow me, and I'm on at south Art on
- 1:33:45Instagram, I do draw like some comics and stuff. There's so yeah,
- 1:33:51comment follow South Sauf underscore art. Right, is there an underscore or is
- 1:33:58it all one word? No, it's all one world. It's okay,
- 1:34:00one okay, okay, cool? All right, Well, thank you so
- 1:34:06much for joining me. It was delightful. It's always fun to have some
- 1:34:11company for one of these. And I'm sorry to be over time and goodbye,
- 1:34:16it's okay. I started late also because of dogs, so that is
- 1:34:20inevitably my fate lately. Um and everybody listening, hope you're enjoying the coverage
- 1:34:27and we'll see you soon with a new one. Then to loom of.
- 1:35:00That was an unspoiled network podcast.
