- 0:02Speaker 1: Hi, everyone, Welcome to another episode of Legally Brunette. I'll
- 0:05Speaker 1: be your host, Emily Simpson with my co host Jane
- 0:10Speaker 1: and today we have a special guest. If you're a
- 0:12Speaker 1: real Housewife fan, you will know Dolores. I don't even
- 0:14Speaker 1: need to say the last name.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Thank you. Hi. How's it going. I'm so excited to
- 0:20Speaker 2: be with you. I have not been away with you
- 0:23Speaker 2: in a long time. I was talking last night and
- 0:25Speaker 2: I said, our last time we were together together was
- 0:29Speaker 2: Andy's baby shower. Yeah, and then, you know, briefly at
- 0:32Speaker 2: Bravo Con. But that's just great.
- 0:33Speaker 1: You don't have time to socialize a Bravo con. It's
- 0:36Speaker 1: in passing, right, Hi, It's good to see you.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It's three days of running it is. Are we excited
- 0:40Speaker 2: for this year? Yeah? You know.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I mean it's a lot of work, but I enjoy it.
- 0:46Speaker 1: And you know, I'll tell you I enjoy it.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Maybe you agree with me.
- 0:48Speaker 1: A lot of times when you film Housewives, the only
- 0:50Speaker 1: feedback you get is from social media. And we talked
- 0:52Speaker 1: about this yesterday. And when you get feedback from social media,
- 0:55Speaker 1: let's be honest, ninety five percent of it is negative.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I know, right, But you know, it's really social media
- 1:03Speaker 2: is a very small drop in the bucket. It is.
- 1:05Speaker 2: It is so when I first started, I remember Noah
- 1:09Speaker 2: saying that to me. I forget what the issue was
- 1:13Speaker 2: with social media at the time. Yeah, and any of
- 1:15Speaker 2: you who don't know Noah, we know him. He's the
- 1:17Speaker 2: big boss, he's a big shot. So I remember him saying,
- 1:21Speaker 2: it's just a really small portion of the people that
- 1:26Speaker 2: watch the show, because everyone that watches it. Of course,
- 1:28Speaker 2: my mother watches the show, she's not comment right, well
- 1:31Speaker 2: now she is. Yeah, yeah, But I think that was
- 1:33Speaker 2: the point of bravocon for me, is that a lot
- 1:35Speaker 2: of times the only feedback you get is on social media,
- 1:37Speaker 2: right right, So you're saying everybody, and it's so nice
- 1:42Speaker 2: to just have so many fans that are like, I
- 1:44Speaker 2: love the show, I love you, how's your mother in law?
- 1:46Speaker 2: How's Annabel doing? And you're like, oh, people do watch
- 1:50Speaker 2: it and just enjoy it and then go to bed. Yeah,
- 1:54Speaker 2: I know, it's nice to see. That's nice.
- 1:56Speaker 1: It's nice to get a lot of positive feedback. So
- 1:59Speaker 1: I really Bravo con So, all right, anyway, let's go
- 2:02Speaker 1: into We're going to start with a little update on
- 2:04Speaker 1: Lively and Baldoni. I thought this was really interesting because,
- 2:07Speaker 1: as we talked about last time we did an update,
- 2:09Speaker 1: Taylor Swift was subpoenaed in this case, wanted to now
- 2:12Speaker 1: a part of this who absolutely wanted nothing to do
- 2:15Speaker 1: on I heard that.
- 2:17Speaker 2: They weren't even friends anymore because she was dragged into it.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Yes, I believe you know, of course it's just the
- 2:23Speaker 1: rumor mill, but I've read a lot of articles that
- 2:24Speaker 1: allude to the same that they're not even speaking, they're
- 2:27Speaker 1: not friends anymore. So recently, Baldoni's attorney, whose name is
- 2:31Speaker 1: Brian Friedman, he filed I thought this was interesting. He
- 2:34Speaker 1: filed an affidavit, and affidavit is his own account of
- 2:36Speaker 1: something that happened, and it was sworn under penalty of perjury,
- 2:39Speaker 1: and he basically I read it, and he basically said
- 2:41Speaker 1: that someone from Taylor Swift's camp called him. He spoke
- 2:45Speaker 1: to them for about an hour. He wouldn't disclose who
- 2:47Speaker 1: it was in this Affidavid, and basically they gave him
- 2:50Speaker 1: information that Blake Lively's attorney had reached out to Taylor
- 2:55Speaker 1: Swift's attorney and basically said, you need to post something
- 2:58Speaker 1: on social media and support of Blake Lively. If you don't,
- 3:02Speaker 1: we're going to release ten years worth of text messages
- 3:05Speaker 1: between the two of you.
- 3:06Speaker 2: So this is what he put it in a highdamon
- 3:09Speaker 2: and I did not hear that, yes, and so he
- 3:12Speaker 2: filed it with the court.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Then he was pretty much reprimanded by the judge who
- 3:16Speaker 1: basically said, we're going to remove that from the filing.
- 3:19Speaker 1: That's nothing more than like you filing something to get
- 3:23Speaker 1: click bait and to like, you know, create a contentious
- 3:26Speaker 1: relationship between these two high power people.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Did did you hear about this?
- 3:30Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 3:31Speaker 1: And then after that those yes. So then but here's
- 3:35Speaker 1: my thing. Brian Freeman is a very high powered, intelligent attorney.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I've said multiple times if I am ever sued, the
- 3:41Speaker 1: first person I'm calling is Brian free Yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Well that's a very no data statement to make, and
- 3:46Speaker 2: coming from you, who's an attorney, like no doubt about it.
- 3:50Speaker 1: So you know there's no way that he's lying. He
- 3:53Speaker 1: clearly got a phone call, he was clearly told this information.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I understand the judges trying to keep all this extra
- 3:58Speaker 1: gossip out of it, because.
- 4:00Speaker 2: That's a big that's not extra gossip, that's actually a threat.
- 4:06Speaker 2: It is it's a threat. It's a threat.
- 4:08Speaker 1: And now we know that the subpoena has been withdrawn
- 4:11Speaker 1: from Taylor Swift, so now she is not compelled to testify.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I don't think it has anything to do with that situation.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I believe she should be.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Does that mean withdrawn by Friedman, not dismissed by the right.
- 4:22Speaker 1: It was withdrawn by Brian Friedman. So Baldoni's side withdrew
- 4:25Speaker 1: the subpoena. I think it's because they got what they wanted, right, yeah, exactly.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Don't know whatever information they're looking for for the trial.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Maybe they did get copies of text messages. Maybe she
- 4:35Speaker 1: did give over some information.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Testify.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I'm saying that maybe there was like a side deal,
- 4:43Speaker 2: which you know in court happens all the time. We'll
- 4:45Speaker 2: give you this, just leave me alone. I don't need
- 4:48Speaker 2: to be dragged into this, and quite frankly, having I
- 4:52Speaker 2: feel like having Taylor Swift there and don't you agree,
- 4:55Speaker 2: would take the attention off of what's really going on.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Oh absolutely, it's not gonna it's not gonna help either side.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Right So, I think, in my opinion, I think Taylor
- 5:03Speaker 1: Swift provided whatever information they were looking for, or enough
- 5:06Speaker 1: information that they feel like they have what they need
- 5:09Speaker 1: and that's why the subpoena was dropped. So now we
- 5:11Speaker 1: know that she's not going to testify unless she's compelled
- 5:13Speaker 1: again at some point.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Anyway, I doubt it. That's Lively in Baldoni. But that
- 5:18Speaker 2: was so good. I could be done now, I know.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I mean that was so good. I know that was
- 5:22Speaker 2: a little present gaming. I know that was going on.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I've been busy, right.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Well, tell me, because we haven't talked about this, what
- 5:29Speaker 1: is your impression of Blake Lively? Because I went into
- 5:32Speaker 1: researching this case very neutral.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I didn't have an opinion. What I can't you could
- 5:37Speaker 2: have cared less about it.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I didn't even know really who justin Baldoni. Well, I
- 5:40Speaker 1: watched the movie. I didn't really care one way or
- 5:43Speaker 1: the other.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I did.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I read all of the filings multiple times. And my
- 5:47Speaker 1: takeaway was, and we've talked about this, and Blake Lively
- 5:50Speaker 1: is a horrible person.
- 5:51Speaker 2: That was my takeaway. Well, a lot of people say that,
- 5:54Speaker 2: you know, I've seen how she treats other people outside
- 5:58Speaker 2: of this. Yeah, and I'm a big person on I'll
- 6:00Speaker 2: judge you on how you treat people. And there was
- 6:05Speaker 2: one instance where they showed a she was in an
- 6:08Speaker 2: interview with a young girl, like a lot of people
- 6:11Speaker 2: look up to even us. You know, we're not a listers,
- 6:14Speaker 2: but they they could you could really hurt saying No,
- 6:19Speaker 2: I'm just saying, but we haven't, like we could hurt
- 6:21Speaker 2: somebody's feelings with being nasty to them. And this girl
- 6:25Speaker 2: goes congratulation on your bump, and she goes and congratulations
- 6:28Speaker 2: on yours, And you know what, who are you? You
- 6:31Speaker 2: made the girl feel bad? She was just trying to
- 6:33Speaker 2: make conversations, make conversation. That was enough for me. But
- 6:37Speaker 2: I never like liked her as an actress. You know,
- 6:39Speaker 2: her affect. It looks like she's thinking before she talks.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I mean, that's just the way she talks. But it
- 6:43Speaker 2: was never overly impressed by her. And I mean, I'm
- 6:47Speaker 2: sure he's kicking himself in the ass because this was
- 6:49Speaker 2: his big time, on his big break, and I feel
- 6:53Speaker 2: very bad. You know he could even the day of
- 6:56Speaker 2: the premire, he had to be in the basement with
- 6:57Speaker 2: his family. He was into the basement. Yeah, it was
- 7:01Speaker 2: for like two hours while while this was going on. Yeah,
- 7:04Speaker 2: you know what I think, do you want to know
- 7:05Speaker 2: what I think. Yeah, I want to know what you think.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I think that she was like falling for him. She
- 7:10Speaker 2: was like texting him, you know, up in the middle
- 7:12Speaker 2: of the night, nursing and oh yeah. And I think
- 7:16Speaker 2: her husband got a wind of it. Yeah, And I
- 7:18Speaker 2: think that she had to put it on him, like
- 7:20Speaker 2: he's talking to me. And then I think Brian Reynolds
- 7:23Speaker 2: came on the set and closed all type fash You know.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I think that's a reasonable conclusion because I've thought the
- 7:28Speaker 1: same thing. I thought maybe the relationship got like she
- 7:32Speaker 1: wanted more out of it, or she was attracted to him.
- 7:34Speaker 1: And then we do know that Ryan Reynolds was showing
- 7:36Speaker 1: up on the set and watching the dailies, and you
- 7:38Speaker 1: could take it over there was chemistry between them, and
- 7:41Speaker 1: maybe he got upset about that. And the way she
- 7:43Speaker 1: shifted the blame was, well, he does this, he says
- 7:45Speaker 1: inappropriate things, and then Ryan Reynolds is like, well then
- 7:48Speaker 1: we have to pursue it.
- 7:49Speaker 3: We have to sue him.
- 7:50Speaker 1: You can't act like that. And now it's snowballed completely
- 7:53Speaker 1: out of it.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I think, yeah, And you know, that's not just my opinion,
- 7:56Speaker 2: that's been the opinion I've seen it. It just seems
- 7:59Speaker 2: like a famili your story. And I hate to draw
- 8:01Speaker 2: a conclusion to something I was not there. I don't
- 8:05Speaker 2: know anything about. None of her friends told me this.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I don't know about it. But I'm just thinking, what
- 8:09Speaker 2: do you think that's a possibility here.
- 8:12Speaker 3: I'm just saying that's a possible I don't know what
- 8:13Speaker 3: you're saying, this is a reasonable outcome.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I feel like there was you know, and this is
- 8:19Speaker 2: I'm also drawing that conclusion to myself by things that
- 8:23Speaker 2: Jason Baldoni said, like I'm reading through the Yeah.
- 8:26Speaker 3: And then even if it is accurate as you say,
- 8:28Speaker 3: which it may very well be, it just shows that
- 8:30Speaker 3: Ryan was kind of inserting himself. I mean, they didn't
- 8:32Speaker 3: handle it well. If that was the case, if Ryan said, hey,
- 8:35Speaker 3: what are you doing? Why are you talking to him late?
- 8:37Speaker 3: I mean, this is how they handle it. They go
- 8:39Speaker 3: and attack and sue, well.
- 8:40Speaker 2: There's a campaign and there's egos involved.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Yeah, And you know, that's what I'm saying, is a
- 8:47Speaker 3: terrible way to handle.
- 8:48Speaker 2: It when a jealous man. You know, whenever there's a
- 8:52Speaker 2: we know, like passion involved, it's not rational, Like emotions
- 8:56Speaker 2: are not rational. So there was you know, whatever, care
- 9:00Speaker 2: I could go on to this whole thing, but I'll
- 9:02Speaker 2: stop there. That's just what I thought.
- 9:15Speaker 1: All right, let's move on to the Diddy trial. We've
- 9:17Speaker 1: done other episodes on Diddy, so if you're listening to
- 9:19Speaker 1: this for the first time, you want to go back,
- 9:21Speaker 1: I would suggest going back and listening to our previous episodes.
- 9:25Speaker 1: So we were on Didty Trial of week two. Here's
- 9:28Speaker 1: one of the things I just wanted to start with
- 9:29Speaker 1: because I thought this was interesting. So doctor Don Hughes,
- 9:32Speaker 1: who is a psychologist, testified for the prosecution, and she's
- 9:37Speaker 1: called a blind expert, and that means that she's testifying
- 9:41Speaker 1: on their behalf. However, she doesn't she doesn't really know
- 9:44Speaker 1: a lot experience with either.
- 9:47Speaker 2: She's never had them as a patient. She's not involved
- 9:50Speaker 2: at all. She's an expert, she's an expert witness. She's
- 9:53Speaker 2: actually referred to as an expert of experts. She's also testified.
- 9:57Speaker 1: And Johnny Depp's case, the Amber Heerd Johnny Depp, she
- 10:01Speaker 1: testified and R Kelly, so she's clearly well known as
- 10:05Speaker 1: an expert. Obviously, prosecution has her testifying because the defense
- 10:09Speaker 1: is going to say Cassie, who was in this ten
- 10:12Speaker 1: year relationship with Diddy, was there because she wanted to
- 10:15Speaker 1: be there her own will, her own will. She wasn't coerced,
- 10:19Speaker 1: she wasn't manipulated. She was there of her own free will.
- 10:23Speaker 1: She could have left at any time. She could have
- 10:25Speaker 1: broken up with him. I really don't see, I mean,
- 10:29Speaker 1: but I'm saying that's what the defense is going to go, right,
- 10:31Speaker 1: So she testified. I thought I was wondering what your
- 10:35Speaker 1: opinion is on that when someone comes in as an
- 10:37Speaker 1: expert and they don't know the parties, but they're just
- 10:40Speaker 1: testifying to the relationship like a trauma bond, and what
- 10:44Speaker 1: they seek her Who called.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Her to testify? What party?
- 10:47Speaker 2: Prosecution?
- 10:48Speaker 1: So the prosecution is having her testify as to like
- 10:52Speaker 1: the state of Cassie's mind why she stayed with him
- 10:54Speaker 1: so long.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Because they're going to try because the defense is going
- 10:57Speaker 2: to challenge that. Right, They're going to say she could
- 10:59Speaker 2: have left at any time, which don't.
- 11:01Speaker 3: She didn't want to die.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Challenge that all they want. I've been around domestic violence
- 11:06Speaker 2: my whole entire life, and I can tell you and
- 11:11Speaker 2: until this day, I work with with women of domestic
- 11:14Speaker 2: abuse and it's just it's not only in women. It
- 11:17Speaker 2: could be in relationships period. There's there's so much different.
- 11:20Speaker 2: There's mental abuse, there's physical abuse. She had both. So yeah,
- 11:26Speaker 2: I mean I can understand why the prosecution called her
- 11:29Speaker 2: in because a lot of people don't understand why she stayed.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I understand why she stayed. I mean besides what we saw,
- 11:38Speaker 2: but she even went back at times, Like I think
- 11:41Speaker 2: when they had the he had the meeting with was
- 11:44Speaker 2: it kid Cutty and she, they sit down, they make amends,
- 11:48Speaker 2: and then at some point it's like a freakin movie.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Diddy has her come in to stand behind him and
- 11:54Speaker 2: be like, well I'm here now, and like Kid Cutti
- 11:56Speaker 2: was like he goes. I was actually surprised that she
- 12:00Speaker 2: was there and went back. But I mean, there's so
- 12:04Speaker 2: many layers to this. You know, somebody of domestic violence
- 12:08Speaker 2: will justify what they're doing to her like she and
- 12:12Speaker 2: then you become like Stockholm syndrome and then you're afraid.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I mean, in a typical domestic violence case, sometimes the
- 12:19Speaker 2: neighbors call the cops, right if, but in this case,
- 12:23Speaker 2: the cops, he owns the cops, he owned, the judges,
- 12:25Speaker 2: he owned everybody, she watched people around her die. She
- 12:29Speaker 2: watched him bring guns to someone's house to unwrap their
- 12:33Speaker 2: Christmas presents and almost kill him, kid cutty right right,
- 12:36Speaker 2: and blow up his car with a mousle the top cocktail.
- 12:38Speaker 2: She watched all this right, and then in her mind
- 12:41Speaker 2: she was now a prisoner to him, because after being beaten,
- 12:45Speaker 2: after being used as a sex slave, after being drugged
- 12:48Speaker 2: for so many years, she probably in her mindset, who's
- 12:51Speaker 2: gonna want me? Where am I going? So you're saying
- 12:54Speaker 2: it's a deterioration of any self worth? Is how he
- 12:57Speaker 2: there's no self worth? On a much lower case than this,
- 13:00Speaker 2: this was an extreme case of domestic violence.
- 13:02Speaker 3: I agree with everything you said. The way I saw it,
- 13:05Speaker 3: although you might be very well correct, was simply there's
- 13:09Speaker 3: you know, if I stay, I get beat up, right,
- 13:11Speaker 3: or I get abused, or I get mistreated. But if
- 13:13Speaker 3: I leave, it might be even worse. He might come
- 13:16Speaker 3: after me, right or like now you added the factor
- 13:19Speaker 3: of I'm not worth anything, Who's gonna want me?
- 13:21Speaker 2: Who's gonna want me?
- 13:22Speaker 3: Maybe the next guy will treat me just the same.
- 13:24Speaker 3: And here, at least I have a roof over.
- 13:25Speaker 2: My head that is a common trait and even somebody
- 13:29Speaker 2: who's even molested. It's been like a lot of times,
- 13:33Speaker 2: it's well why not, It's already been done to me,
- 13:36Speaker 2: so why not be this way?
- 13:38Speaker 3: Or this is my life?
- 13:39Speaker 2: This is my life. I have no self worth it.
- 13:43Speaker 2: It's a horrible deterioration of someone's like soul. Basically, basically,
- 13:49Speaker 2: he just slammed her soul on the ground. She was
- 13:51Speaker 2: an eighteen year old girl coming into this. She was
- 13:54Speaker 2: the one She was.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Eighteen at the start of their relationship.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Now, the issue in this case is not to mess violence,
- 14:00Speaker 1: because we know that's happening. What the prosecution has to
- 14:04Speaker 1: has the burden of proving is RICO, which is racketeering
- 14:08Speaker 1: and also sex trafficking. So that's where the burdens really
- 14:11Speaker 1: going to lie on the prosecution side. We were talking
- 14:13Speaker 1: about this this morning, is in order to prove a
- 14:16Speaker 1: RICO case, you have to prove that there's a criminal enterprise.
- 14:19Speaker 2: So that's what the prosecution is doing. That's why they're
- 14:21Speaker 2: bringing forward all these witnesses to have their sets.
- 14:24Speaker 1: You know that are people at hotels, so that they
- 14:27Speaker 1: can testify to establish that Diddy had a criminal enterprise.
- 14:32Speaker 1: In order to have these freak offs. It's not just
- 14:35Speaker 1: like he has weird sexual fantasy right now, on that
- 14:39Speaker 1: you can be weird, weird, you can you can have
- 14:43Speaker 1: whatever is.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Not illegal to be weird.
- 14:45Speaker 2: It's not illegal or to have a fetish right to
- 14:47Speaker 2: have weird. Well, in such state it is. But what
- 14:51Speaker 2: we have, what they have.
- 14:52Speaker 1: To prove is that it's a criminal enterprise. So what
- 14:54Speaker 1: is your thought on that, on the criminal enterprise.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Aspect of it.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Well, I think that's a way to get further sentencing, right,
- 15:03Speaker 3: and more charges against them, and then I think they
- 15:05Speaker 3: can seize a lot of the assets and the victims
- 15:08Speaker 3: can go after the whole criminal enterprise.
- 15:11Speaker 1: So you is it a criminal enterprise if you have
- 15:14Speaker 1: assistants who are okay setting up these freak offs, and
- 15:17Speaker 1: they're putting the lighting up, and they're they're hiring the
- 15:19Speaker 1: sex workers.
- 15:20Speaker 3: They're flying them out, they're organizing it, they're flying them out,
- 15:23Speaker 3: they're paying them, who's cutting them the check they're putting
- 15:25Speaker 3: up in house?
- 15:26Speaker 2: It is Yeah, it's a business. But but does that
- 15:32Speaker 2: fall under criminals still?
- 15:34Speaker 3: Because well, I think I think in late terms, it's
- 15:38Speaker 3: the enterprise is furthering the criminal activity, right, Okay, so
- 15:45Speaker 3: you can't disguise it did. He can't sit up there
- 15:47Speaker 3: on his throne and say I didn't pay them, I
- 15:50Speaker 3: didn't make the phone call, I didn't fly him out here.
- 15:53Speaker 3: They did. Well, they work for you. They're part of
- 15:56Speaker 3: your company, right, and and you benefited from the criminality
- 16:01Speaker 3: you were he was the bar Your hands are no
- 16:03Speaker 3: less dirty.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Just like so in the mob, right, the boss gives.
- 16:08Speaker 3: The orders, right, but doesn't touch anything.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Right, But he doesn't touch anything. He's already a made guy.
- 16:12Speaker 2: If he's the boss, he's already a made guy. Right.
- 16:14Speaker 2: So now you have all his soldiers underneath him. Who
- 16:18Speaker 2: and here we talk about the Rico Act. That's what
- 16:19Speaker 2: actually brought down the mob. So when you're looking at
- 16:23Speaker 2: letters instead of numbers, people start to talk and people
- 16:26Speaker 2: start to roll on you, like if you're looking at
- 16:29Speaker 2: life instead of twenty five years or twenty years. Now,
- 16:32Speaker 2: all of a sudden, it's a different story. So having
- 16:34Speaker 2: that in front of you, all of a sudden, they're like, well,
- 16:38Speaker 2: I'm gonna die anyway in jail, so why don't I
- 16:41Speaker 2: just roll the dice and see if I could rat
- 16:44Speaker 2: him out or have him go for me?
- 16:46Speaker 3: Right, we'll see, all right.
- 16:48Speaker 1: So also during testimony, I thought this was interesting because
- 16:52Speaker 1: you know, Cassie settled in a civil suit with Day Yes,
- 16:55Speaker 1: so the number was never I know, she asked for
- 16:57Speaker 1: thirty million. So it was revealed during her testimony that
- 17:00Speaker 1: she actually received twenty million. That was her settlement and
- 17:03Speaker 1: her civil case.
- 17:04Speaker 2: So during cross examination on her noss for Dinny, did
- 17:06Speaker 2: she have to pay taxes on that? I don't know.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Does she have to pay taxes on tie?
- 17:10Speaker 3: I thought, what it's for If it's for injuries.
- 17:12Speaker 2: No, I guess it would be for injuries, right, yeah,
- 17:14Speaker 2: if it's.
- 17:15Speaker 1: To make her whole, no, So attorneys for Dinny highlighted
- 17:18Speaker 1: the details of two financial settlements involving Cassie, seemingly in
- 17:22Speaker 1: an effort to challenge her credibility or suggest alternative motives
- 17:26Speaker 1: for her allegations. Cassie acknowledged receiving twenty million and her
- 17:29Speaker 1: civil settlement against Combs. One of his attorneys pointed out
- 17:34Speaker 1: that she canceled an upcoming tour soon soon after receiving
- 17:37Speaker 1: the settlement, implying a connection between the payout and her
- 17:40Speaker 1: career decisions. Cassie stated that no amount of money could
- 17:43Speaker 1: undo the trauma she experienced, adding that if she could
- 17:46Speaker 1: reverse the abuse, she would return the money.
- 17:49Speaker 3: So no one's considering the trauma that she went through
- 17:51Speaker 3: as to why she might have canceled her tour.
- 17:53Speaker 1: They're disclaiming that she might wanted a financial payout. Once
- 17:57Speaker 1: she got the twenty million, she wasn't interested in the
- 17:59Speaker 1: career anymore.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Maybe twenty million doesn't go very far these days, especially
- 18:05Speaker 2: the lifestyle she was used to and and the therapy
- 18:09Speaker 2: and everything else. How you know this is good? This
- 18:11Speaker 2: will manifest itself. God forbid with her in another way,
- 18:15Speaker 2: like she does not know what her life hasn't has
- 18:17Speaker 2: ahead of her.
- 18:18Speaker 3: But I understand if she gets if she gets money
- 18:21Speaker 3: and then she quits the tour, I mean, she's a
- 18:23Speaker 3: lot of change the direction of her life. I mean,
- 18:26Speaker 3: it's like she faked all this and got it, you know, right, I.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Understand, But you also understand this is on cross examination.
- 18:35Speaker 1: So this is the defense cross.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Examining her and trying to make her look like they're
- 18:42Speaker 2: trying to make it like she just wanted to settlement.
- 18:44Speaker 2: She got. It's normal that they would have done this, right,
- 18:48Speaker 2: This isn't like groundbreaking that they're going to use. They're
- 18:51Speaker 2: going to pull out every stop exactly.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Also, in a new disclosure made during the same testimony,
- 18:57Speaker 1: vn Sura also revealed she was set to receive approximately
- 19:00Speaker 1: ten million and a separate settlement with inter Continental Hotels
- 19:04Speaker 1: linked to the twenty sixteen incident that was caught on
- 19:07Speaker 1: the surface.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Is that because the video was released?
- 19:10Speaker 1: I don't know, you know, I wanted to research more
- 19:13Speaker 1: into that. If she's going to receive a ten million
- 19:15Speaker 1: dollars settlement from that hotel chain, is it because there
- 19:19Speaker 1: was some negligence on their part? Did they not act.
- 19:21Speaker 2: But they did not call the cops? I don't know.
- 19:24Speaker 2: That's where did they leak? And was that video leaked?
- 19:27Speaker 2: That video was leaked? We talked about this hours later.
- 19:30Speaker 2: It was right.
- 19:30Speaker 1: This wasn't twenty sixteen. The video didn't come out until
- 19:32Speaker 1: twenty twenty four.
- 19:33Speaker 2: So I think they're live period. But what do you
- 19:36Speaker 2: think they're liable for? What do you think the cause
- 19:38Speaker 2: of action is? Well, I don't believe the cops were called.
- 19:40Speaker 2: If the people watching the cameras saw this enough to
- 19:44Speaker 2: save it and keep it in their pocket, whoever they
- 19:47Speaker 2: they're responsible for, responsible for the person that they hired
- 19:50Speaker 2: who also whoever leaked it, right, Well.
- 19:53Speaker 3: That's assumed, so they're and you may be correct, but
- 19:55Speaker 3: that's assuming someone saw the video as it played out,
- 19:58Speaker 3: and not just they record cameras and they store everything
- 20:01Speaker 3: and then later they can go back as needed.
- 20:03Speaker 1: But at the end of the guard leaked and it
- 20:05Speaker 1: had to be someone from the hotel that leaked it.
- 20:07Speaker 2: The hotel employee would have access to it, right, But
- 20:10Speaker 2: why have the cameras up if you're not watching to
- 20:14Speaker 2: see what's going on? What do you just go back
- 20:16Speaker 2: to see after somebody gets killed?
- 20:17Speaker 3: That's exactly That's exactly it. I mean, I do think
- 20:21Speaker 3: that would be the better case, certainly if they could
- 20:23Speaker 3: watch in real time and call for help as needed,
- 20:27Speaker 3: or if they did see it, as you're suggesting, that
- 20:29Speaker 3: would be horrific. If they see it and they don't
- 20:31Speaker 3: do anything about it, they should be.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Everyone was afraid of them, and he owned everybody. Everybody, well,
- 20:36Speaker 2: they said the security guard, and he tried to pay
- 20:41Speaker 2: him off. So a security guard showed up in the.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Hotel and went to the incident, and then did he
- 20:45Speaker 1: threw a bag of money at him and said, basically, see.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Anything whether it was the video or not, there was
- 20:50Speaker 3: some notice of this incident and violence, and the security
- 20:54Speaker 3: guard did attempt to make an effort to intervene gets paid.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Off, right, Well, he didn't take the money.
- 21:00Speaker 3: He didn't take the money.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Wow.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Okay, So my question is my question is is her
- 21:08Speaker 1: suit where they settled for ten million? Is it negligence
- 21:10Speaker 1: of some sort? Is that they didn't send the security
- 21:12Speaker 1: guard fast enough? Did he not intervene enough? Were they
- 21:15Speaker 1: did they have a higher duty or responsibility to protect
- 21:19Speaker 1: her in the hallway?
- 21:20Speaker 3: Like what is the hotel?
- 21:22Speaker 2: So if nothing else, Emily, if nothing else, that video
- 21:29Speaker 2: was leaked from their private security system and they're liable
- 21:34Speaker 2: for that.
- 21:34Speaker 1: But but the video being leaked helped her sound the case.
- 21:40Speaker 2: He settled immediately. It's still but yeah, right, but leaked?
- 21:44Speaker 3: Is it private? I mean they're in a hotel lobby.
- 21:47Speaker 2: I think I think so. Like if I think it is,
- 21:50Speaker 2: if there was no incident report, if there was nothing
- 21:53Speaker 2: public about it, I would think it was. I think
- 21:57Speaker 2: that it was their property. It was leaked, their liabel
- 22:01Speaker 2: for it. That's how I feel. All right, let's go
- 22:13Speaker 2: into a little bit about Kid Cutty. So Kid Cutty
- 22:15Speaker 2: testifies Kid Cutty had a relationship with Cassie Ventura. So
- 22:18Speaker 2: one of the most high profile witnesses in the second
- 22:21Speaker 2: week of testimony, right, the relationship is post well, it
- 22:24Speaker 2: was post Ditty, but then she went back to Ditty,
- 22:26Speaker 2: So he's kind of like he's kind of in there
- 22:28Speaker 2: during her relationship with Ditty. So in the second week
- 22:31Speaker 2: of testimony was rapper Kid Cutty legally known as Scott
- 22:34Speaker 2: mus Cutty, who briefly dated Cassie Ventura in twenty eleven.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Cutty testified that not long after Ditty discovered his relationship
- 22:42Speaker 2: with Cassie, someone broke into his La home. Weeks later,
- 22:46Speaker 2: his car was set on fire outside of the same residence.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Cutty told the jury that he later confronted Comb's during
- 22:51Speaker 2: a meeting at a Los Angeles hotel, asking what they
- 22:54Speaker 2: were going to do about the car incident. According to Cutty,
- 22:57Speaker 2: Combs denied knowledge of the arson, a response Cutty found unconvincing.
- 23:01Speaker 2: He also said his relationship with Ventura ended soon afterward.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Here's the thing about the Molotov cocktail. Basically, his car
- 23:08Speaker 2: was cut open, it was dropped. It was a convertible Porsche.
- 23:12Speaker 2: It was in the driveway, but not before Diddy went
- 23:17Speaker 2: to the house. When in his home unwrapped his Christmas presence.
- 23:21Speaker 2: There was like Chanelle boxes, there was Christmas presents for
- 23:23Speaker 2: his family. He unwrapped them and called him from his
- 23:26Speaker 2: house and said, I'm in your house. And kid Cutti
- 23:29Speaker 2: went there. But here's the other thing that they're trying
- 23:31Speaker 2: to go. And the dog was put in the bathroom
- 23:34Speaker 2: and the dog seemed shaken up and scared because the
- 23:37Speaker 2: dog just saw the devil. Dogs can see things, yes,
- 23:40Speaker 2: so they sense things. So the dog was peeing all
- 23:44Speaker 2: over itself. I wonder if it was a pit bull.
- 23:46Speaker 2: I'm just curious. And the dog was in the bathroom
- 23:51Speaker 2: and Kid Cuti brought the dog out, and the dog
- 23:53Speaker 2: was scared, sh like how do you scare a dog
- 23:57Speaker 2: to that extent? You know? But he was on kid
- 24:00Speaker 2: Cutty on the way there was afraid. He even admitted it.
- 24:04Speaker 2: He goes, I did not know what I was pulling
- 24:06Speaker 2: up to. I didn't know if he had his boys
- 24:08Speaker 2: with him or whatever it was, or if he was
- 24:10Speaker 2: going to kill me. Right, And so he walks in
- 24:13Speaker 2: and then he he was gone. And then shortly after
- 24:17Speaker 2: that is the Mazotov cocktail, right and oft.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Obviously, the point of Kid Cutty testifying to the Molotov
- 24:23Speaker 1: cocktail is because an earlier testimony with Cassie, she talks
- 24:29Speaker 1: about how Combs threatened to blow up Cuddy's car when
- 24:32Speaker 1: he learned about their relationship together.
- 24:34Speaker 2: He's gotten away with a lot. Yeah. Well there's the night.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Club shooting in nineteen ninety nine that's been resurfaced because
- 24:39Speaker 1: of this whole trial with Diddy. Yeah, but people are
- 24:42Speaker 1: coming forward and saying he was in the night club
- 24:44Speaker 1: he had Now, yes it was with.
- 24:46Speaker 2: J Lo, but he was acquitted. Once you're acquitted, they
- 24:49Speaker 2: can't bring you back and charge you again. Right, that's it. Yeah,
- 24:52Speaker 2: that's what I believe. I don't know. I haven't been
- 24:54Speaker 2: in the court case in court house for a long time,
- 24:57Speaker 2: but you've been out of.
- 24:58Speaker 3: The criminal court system for a while. Yeah, I've been.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Keeping it clean.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Also, what was interesting was Cassie Ventura's mother testified in court.
- 25:08Speaker 1: So we're Regina Ventura. Cassie's mother testified on May twentieth.
- 25:12Speaker 1: She told the court that Colmbs became enraged after learning
- 25:15Speaker 1: that Cassie was seeing Kid Cuddy. According to her Culmbs
- 25:19Speaker 1: threatened to release explicit videos involving Cassie as well as
- 25:23Speaker 1: to harm Cassie and Cuddy unless he was provided with
- 25:25Speaker 1: twenty thousand dollars. First of all, where does he come
- 25:29Speaker 1: up with the twenty thousand? I mean, the guy's a billionaire.
- 25:31Speaker 2: The twenty thousand is just to me's with this. He
- 25:35Speaker 2: just knew it was enough to hurt them, right. And
- 25:38Speaker 2: the mother's testimony was was they said you could hear
- 25:42Speaker 2: a pin drop in that courtroom because she was very
- 25:45Speaker 2: soft spoken. She was like a broken mom. Yeah, afraid
- 25:49Speaker 2: for her daughter who said that they had to take
- 25:53Speaker 2: a mortgage out on their house.
- 25:56Speaker 3: All that time and go through all that a because
- 25:57Speaker 3: that's what you don't just go to the store and
- 25:59Speaker 3: get something like. She had to go through all the PaperWorks, qualify.
- 26:02Speaker 3: She had all these.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Things hoping that it doesn't hurt her.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Under this stress of her daughter. And what he put
- 26:12Speaker 3: him through for twenty grand that's like me putting someone through.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Nothing to do with them, had nothing to do with
- 26:17Speaker 2: the money. Sorry, correct, he's an evil press them. He
- 26:20Speaker 2: just wanted a torture them, and he did. But but
- 26:23Speaker 2: you know what they had. That mother's testimony for some
- 26:27Speaker 2: reason got to everybody. Oh and the other thing is
- 26:31Speaker 2: they wanted to take out the part about the dog
- 26:33Speaker 2: because some of the jurors are dog lovers, they're animal lovers,
- 26:36Speaker 2: So the judge wanted that out.
- 26:38Speaker 3: The judge defense the judge.
- 26:41Speaker 2: I met the defendant. Yeah right away. I said to myself,
- 26:45Speaker 2: he could have hurt that dog, he could have killed
- 26:46Speaker 2: the dog, but he didn't. But what did he do
- 26:49Speaker 2: to that dog? To meet that dog like that? I
- 26:52Speaker 2: need to know he don't have cameras in his house?
- 26:55Speaker 2: This guy kid cuttie, what's up? I know, I was
- 26:57Speaker 2: just thinking that. I mean, he's a rapper and he's wealthy.
- 27:00Speaker 2: You would think he'd have cameras. I mean it's a given,
- 27:02Speaker 2: but okay, Yeah.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Regina also testified that her daughter had emailed her about
- 27:06Speaker 1: the threats in late twenty eleven, leaving her feeling physically sick.
- 27:10Speaker 1: She filled her mother, Yeah, I know, I wanted that too,
- 27:12Speaker 1: like why didn't she just call her? But she said
- 27:15Speaker 1: she took out a hame equity loone to pay the money,
- 27:17Speaker 1: fearing for her daughter's safety. The funds were later returned
- 27:20Speaker 1: to Regina, and Cassie reportedly resumed her relationship with Combs
- 27:24Speaker 1: shortly thereafter.
- 27:25Speaker 2: So can I just say something, Cassie's girl. Most of
- 27:28Speaker 2: what she did was because she wanted to be with him.
- 27:31Speaker 2: She wanted to be his girls. She said, she wanted
- 27:33Speaker 2: to be his number one.
- 27:34Speaker 3: You don't have.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Twenty thousand dollars to give your mother to save her.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I think that's how he controlled her. I think he
- 27:40Speaker 1: probably just bought her things.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Then you don't go sell a ring, you don't go
- 27:45Speaker 2: sell a watch. I mean, unless it doesn't make sense
- 27:49Speaker 2: to me that she could not give her mother. She
- 27:50Speaker 2: couldn't come up with twenty thousand dollars to give her
- 27:53Speaker 2: mother by selling one gift that she got. Was he cheap?
- 27:56Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know, because I can sell
- 27:58Speaker 2: some old boyfriends and come up with some money.
- 28:02Speaker 1: The jury also viewed photos that Regina had taken of
- 28:05Speaker 1: her daughter, which depicted bruises on Cassie's body. I saw
- 28:08Speaker 1: that her testimony was brief, as Comb's attorney declined to
- 28:11Speaker 1: cross examine her. It's good that they decided not to
- 28:13Speaker 1: cross examine her, because they're going to look like bullies
- 28:15Speaker 1: if they.
- 28:16Speaker 2: And the people and she won the hearts of the
- 28:20Speaker 2: people right in the courtroom, right, and so that was
- 28:22Speaker 2: a good decision on their part to just let that go.
- 28:24Speaker 2: They're not done, they're not right. They're not defending P
- 28:28Speaker 2: Diddy because they're done. Okay.
- 28:29Speaker 1: I added this in because I just thought this was interesting.
- 28:32Speaker 1: So there's a hotel manager named Frederick Zamoor who also testified.
- 28:35Speaker 1: He was a general general manager of the Lehramitage Hotel
- 28:39Speaker 1: in Beverly Hills. He testified about hotel records that were
- 28:42Speaker 1: linked to Sean Ditty Combs. According to the general manager
- 28:46Speaker 1: of the hotel, the hotel profile originally created and Comb's
- 28:50Speaker 1: name in two thousand and six, underwent several name changes
- 28:52Speaker 1: over the years. You know, he changed his name to
- 28:54Speaker 1: like Frank Black, and he went by something else. He
- 28:55Speaker 1: was always changing names. No Diddy, So whenever he would
- 28:59Speaker 1: check into these hotels, he would use an alias. Obviously
- 29:01Speaker 1: he doesn't check in.
- 29:02Speaker 3: It's just entirely.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Right.
- 29:05Speaker 1: But I like, I like, this is the part that
- 29:07Speaker 1: I enjoy. The jury was also shown internal hotel notes
- 29:11Speaker 1: that documented concerns about Comb stays, which included these are
- 29:15Speaker 1: notes that the hotel has in the computer system.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Make sure you have Kylly and please monitor outside his
- 29:23Speaker 2: room and down the hall to spray air freshener. That's
- 29:27Speaker 2: one note. Wait what why? I guess because it smells.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I don't know. I need to know, right, always spills
- 29:36Speaker 2: candle wax on everything and uses excessive amounts of oil,
- 29:40Speaker 2: place the room out of order.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Upon departure for deep cleaning. The last one is, please
- 29:47Speaker 1: authorize an extra one thousand dollars when guest stays with
- 29:49Speaker 1: us to cover any room damages. I thought a thousand
- 29:52Speaker 1: was actually a very low.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Amount for damage to the room with Seawan combs. So
- 29:57Speaker 2: but anyway, I thought that was an interesting was upset
- 30:00Speaker 2: that he had to leave that, Like I when I
- 30:02Speaker 2: show up, it's two hundred dollars for incidentals. Right, you're right,
- 30:06Speaker 2: A thousand isn't a lot, It's not I feel like.
- 30:08Speaker 3: I have to buy.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I need to know about the smell.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Right, the air freshener in the hallway, we need to.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Invest was strong enough to handle?
- 30:22Speaker 2: Does he ask for that? Maybe? Is that something that
- 30:24Speaker 2: he that's the.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Hotel internal note saying we have to spray air refreshner
- 30:30Speaker 1: in the hallway when he stays there.
- 30:31Speaker 2: I don't know, does he.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Burn incense, do the candles smell? Does it create like
- 30:35Speaker 1: a weird smell? So they have to air refreshener.
- 30:38Speaker 2: The hallway and I need to know. I'm like, literally,
- 30:43Speaker 2: I want to DM somebody about this.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Right, all right.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Another person that testified was makeup artist Mila Morales. She
- 30:51Speaker 1: was a former makeup artist that testified that she once
- 30:54Speaker 1: saw Cassie with visible injuries during the Grammys weekend in
- 30:56Speaker 1: twenty ten. Marale I said she returned to a hotel
- 31:00Speaker 1: with Cassie after attending a party at Prince's home. Allegedly
- 31:03Speaker 1: did he arrive later, appearing angry and shouting for Cassie
- 31:06Speaker 1: before entering her room and closing the door. Maralis described
- 31:10Speaker 1: hearing yelling and said she felt helpless during the incident.
- 31:12Speaker 1: I've actually seen interviews with her. She's done several interviews,
- 31:15Speaker 1: and I know when they cross examined her, they talked
- 31:18Speaker 1: about the interviews that she's done. Asked her if she
- 31:20Speaker 1: was paid, and she didn't. She said she hasn't received
- 31:23Speaker 1: any pay. I feel like she's just out there speaking
- 31:25Speaker 1: out because she feels like she witnessed something and that
- 31:29Speaker 1: she didn't ever speak out before her opportunity to say
- 31:35Speaker 1: what she saw. According to Maralis, Diddy later stormed out
- 31:39Speaker 1: of the room, and Cassie emerged visibly shaken, with what
- 31:41Speaker 1: appeared to be a swollen eye, a split lip, and
- 31:43Speaker 1: bruises on her head. This account aligns with Cassie's earlier
- 31:47Speaker 1: testimony in which she said Combs assaulted her after a
- 31:49Speaker 1: party at Prince's house, allegedly throwing luggage at her and
- 31:52Speaker 1: verbally abusing her. You know, there's another account by one
- 31:55Speaker 1: of his assistants that testified that there was another woman
- 31:59Speaker 1: that he dated named Gina. I guess that was a
- 32:01Speaker 1: part of this controversy. She was a victim number three
- 32:04Speaker 1: that was supposed to testify, but they can't find her,
- 32:06Speaker 1: and I don't think she's now going to testify.
- 32:09Speaker 2: But I hope she's okay.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Missing or she's not responding and won't and refusing again.
- 32:15Speaker 2: The prosecution can't get a hold of her. She was just.
- 32:18Speaker 3: Missing, so well yeah, no, yeah, I just didn't know
- 32:21Speaker 3: if she was refusing to come or if she did.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Anyone hear from her, Like, I think they can't get
- 32:26Speaker 2: a hold of her, and they're saying she's now not
- 32:28Speaker 2: going to testify. She's maybe they I worry about these people. Yeah,
- 32:32Speaker 2: I really that's the.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Reason why he's not coming out of jail, right, because
- 32:37Speaker 3: that's why he didn't when this tampering. Yeah, that's part
- 32:40Speaker 3: of his troubles.
- 32:41Speaker 2: He can't listen, he can't help what he is. He's
- 32:44Speaker 2: still going to do. You know, his empire might be falling,
- 32:48Speaker 2: but I feel like if he gets away with this,
- 32:49Speaker 2: he's going to be more powerful than he's ever been.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Well, every time, every time he got you know, he
- 32:54Speaker 3: exploited them for twenty thousand dollars or paid her off
- 32:56Speaker 3: for twenty millions. She knows how many up a car.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Who knows how many people he paid off to get
- 33:01Speaker 3: away with his crime, and then he just thinks, yeah,
- 33:04Speaker 3: that was nothing. You know, I paid her. I can
- 33:06Speaker 3: do what I want because I just pay him off.
- 33:07Speaker 1: There's some male sex workers that testified, and obviously this
- 33:11Speaker 1: goes back to the sex trafficking of if they're hiring
- 33:14Speaker 1: male sex workers to common have sex with Cassie and
- 33:16Speaker 1: that's what these freaking.
- 33:17Speaker 2: She was also finding them, right because it's what he wanted.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Then this is the sex trafficking.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Part of the prosecution's case is that they're crossing state
- 33:27Speaker 1: lines and that's sex trafficking, I thought, And we haven't
- 33:30Speaker 1: seen that yet. And we talked about this a little
- 33:31Speaker 1: bit yesterday that there were underage victims as well in
- 33:34Speaker 1: this sex trafficking.
- 33:36Speaker 2: But so far we're talking underage, We're talking I'm talking like,
- 33:39Speaker 2: are we talking about child sex trafficking.
- 33:41Speaker 3: That's not the case. So far, it has.
- 33:45Speaker 2: We've only heard tunnels and Michael Jackson's house and there's
- 33:50Speaker 2: clothes they found tons of kids clothes and that we
- 33:53Speaker 2: don't know this to be true, and apparently it's not
- 33:56Speaker 2: been brought up.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Yeah, so but there have been and I've seen videos
- 34:01Speaker 1: and maybe you've seen this too, of like Diddy with
- 34:04Speaker 1: Justin Bieber when he was very he talks about how
- 34:07Speaker 1: he's like going to Ditty camp and he's staying with
- 34:09Speaker 1: Ditty and Diddy's.
- 34:10Speaker 3: His guardens what they're going to do, right, and.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Really creepy.
- 34:16Speaker 1: And then I saw an interview with Usher he did
- 34:18Speaker 1: on Howard Stern, and Howard Stern.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Was saying, well, what happened with Ditty?
- 34:22Speaker 1: You know, because Usher was underage at that time too,
- 34:25Speaker 1: He's like, you know, I can't say, I can't talk
- 34:26Speaker 1: about it, and he said, well, would you ever let
- 34:28Speaker 1: your child be around Didty? He was basically like, did.
- 34:33Speaker 2: You see Kanye West?
- 34:34Speaker 3: Diddy?
- 34:35Speaker 2: Kanye West was at a concert they were setting up.
- 34:38Speaker 2: Kanye's children were playing and Diddy walked over to them
- 34:44Speaker 2: to say hello, and Kanye came running down the stairs
- 34:47Speaker 2: and goes, get away from my kids. Oh yeah, see
- 34:49Speaker 2: he shook his hand. He's like, get away, back off. Yeah,
- 34:51Speaker 2: fifty cents been.
- 34:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:54Speaker 2: We're screaming on top of mountains about this. And here's
- 34:57Speaker 2: the other thing. One of the sex were who went
- 35:00Speaker 2: on a big shootout in Miami in the Trump Hotel.
- 35:04Speaker 2: I believe it was Miami. I don't know if you
- 35:06Speaker 2: saw this. And he gets arrested. He has like a
- 35:09Speaker 2: shootout with the cops and he's like yeah yeah. He goes,
- 35:12Speaker 2: I want to talk to us as a sex worker
- 35:13Speaker 2: that's connected to Diddy or he's a sex worker. No
- 35:16Speaker 2: sex worker that's connected to day Hey, and he's like
- 35:19Speaker 2: he's in jail. But as he's getting arrested, he's like, listen,
- 35:23Speaker 2: did he calls me? I go there, you guys don't understand.
- 35:29Speaker 2: They hire me to come and he puts oil and
- 35:31Speaker 2: he starts going off, and no one listened to him,
- 35:34Speaker 2: no one believed him, and they put him in jail.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Now they are going back to him and goes, oh,
- 35:38Speaker 2: and they're like would say, and they're like, I tried
- 35:41Speaker 2: to tell you when you were arresting me that this
- 35:44Speaker 2: was going on.
- 35:47Speaker 1: So during this testimony there was a male sex worker testified,
- 35:51Speaker 1: and this is actually I find this amusing. His name
- 35:54Speaker 1: is the Punisher. So on Tuesday, a man identified as
- 35:58Speaker 1: Sharay Hayes, also known as the Punish, described a series
- 36:01Speaker 1: of encounters he allegedly had with Cassie while Ditty was present.
- 36:05Speaker 1: In my mind, I can't get past the fact that
- 36:07Speaker 1: this guy is a sex worker.
- 36:08Speaker 2: But his name is the Punisher.
- 36:10Speaker 1: So the Punisher said that he first met the pair
- 36:12Speaker 1: at a hotel room and Trump Tower where.
- 36:14Speaker 2: He was Is this maybe? Is this the same thing?
- 36:16Speaker 2: That's who I'm talking about? Sie Taller.
- 36:18Speaker 1: He was instructed not to acknowledge Combs, who reportedly wore
- 36:22Speaker 1: a face covering. He alleged that during multiple encounters, Combs
- 36:26Speaker 1: observed and issued directions, including lighting adjustments and sexual instructions.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Is he ever tired? Like he just doesn't stop? He
- 36:34Speaker 2: goes and he goes, and he goes, but he doesn't
- 36:36Speaker 2: do anything half assed. Ditty does things to the extend.
- 36:41Speaker 2: So the punisher's testimony follows up follows similar claims made
- 36:45Speaker 2: by other witnesses, for example, Daniel Phillip, who last week
- 36:48Speaker 2: in testimony alleged he was paid to engage in sexual
- 36:51Speaker 2: acts with Ventura under Combe's direction. So again they're establishing
- 36:56Speaker 2: I guess again this goes to it's it's an enterprise.
- 36:59Speaker 2: It's not just like.
- 37:00Speaker 1: A casual, consensual everybody shows up and they have an orgy.
- 37:05Speaker 1: It's an elaborate business.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Dealing, which is establishing right that it's a production visual
- 37:12Speaker 3: audio too right.
- 37:23Speaker 1: I thought it was interesting because during testimony in Ditty's trial,
- 37:27Speaker 1: a former escort named vin Armani has publicly denied any
- 37:31Speaker 1: involvement in the allegations raised during the Ditty trial. Apparently
- 37:34Speaker 1: they showed his picture he's one of these.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Well, I I saw one of the others.
- 37:38Speaker 2: From the show. From the show show he's denying that
- 37:43Speaker 2: he had, So then why is he there if he
- 37:45Speaker 2: has no Well, they're showing so they showed is he
- 37:48Speaker 2: an expert witness? No, they showed a.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Photo of him and they showed there were actually two
- 37:52Speaker 1: jigglos from the show that were showed during this testimony,
- 37:57Speaker 1: but he has come forward and said that it's just misidentification,
- 38:02Speaker 1: like he was not involved in any of these freak
- 38:04Speaker 1: out freakoffs. So Armani, who previously appeared on the Showtime
- 38:08Speaker 1: Showtime series Jigglos, said he was never contacted by prosecutors
- 38:11Speaker 1: and called the identification a case of mistaken identity. In
- 38:16Speaker 1: comments to The Daily Mail, Armani said he was he
- 38:18Speaker 1: has never had any interaction with either Combs or Ventura
- 38:21Speaker 1: involving violence, drugs or paid sex acts. He acknowledged socializing
- 38:25Speaker 1: with numerous celebrities over the years, but firmly denied ever
- 38:29Speaker 1: participating in any of these freakofs. Armani also criticized media coverage,
- 38:33Speaker 1: particularly and now deleted TMZ article. It was TMZ that
- 38:37Speaker 1: came out and named him, I believe and also that
- 38:39Speaker 1: other guy that killed.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Is that his fran gel now for having killed his
- 38:43Speaker 3: girlfriend d Mr Armani.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Guy that Ben that we were talking about.
- 38:46Speaker 1: He has argued that the misidentification has harmed his reputation
- 38:49Speaker 1: and expressed frustration at not being contacted by legal authorities.
- 38:54Speaker 2: To clarify his role in all of it. So anyway,
- 38:58Speaker 2: that's where we're att with that. No, can can he
- 39:00Speaker 2: get money for that? Can he? Well?
- 39:01Speaker 1: I feel like the fact that he came forward and
- 39:03Speaker 1: said that his reputation was harm.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Because that's not that's.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Not I mean your your reputation was harm. No, that's
- 39:12Speaker 1: legal jargon right there. That means he's consulted with an attorney,
- 39:17Speaker 1: and I think he's probably going to sue for defamation
- 39:19Speaker 1: or everyone's going.
- 39:20Speaker 3: To jump on this bandwagon of getting money.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Right, there's enough to go around.
- 39:24Speaker 3: The hotel also might just be deep pockets, you know.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Let's get the pockets. That's what I'm saying, Like they
- 39:30Speaker 2: could settle.
- 39:32Speaker 1: All right, here's some questions after the second week of trial.
- 39:35Speaker 1: First of all, we talked about this already, but Gina,
- 39:37Speaker 1: who is victim number three, is nowhere to be found
- 39:40Speaker 1: in court on Wednesday.
- 39:41Speaker 2: That might be a problem for Gina. Might be a
- 39:43Speaker 2: problem for the prosecution too, because I think Gina's in trouble.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Yeah, they might want to check some shallow graves.
- 39:49Speaker 2: Yeah right, I mean I'm worried for Gina.
- 39:52Speaker 1: In court on Wednesday, outside the presence of the jury.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Defense attorney Mark Agnifilio said that Gina is out of
- 39:58Speaker 1: the case.
- 39:59Speaker 2: Assists she's out of the case. That's what the defense.
- 40:02Speaker 2: She gets out of the case just because they can't
- 40:04Speaker 2: find her. That's ok. Maybe she's dead, can't find her,
- 40:07Speaker 2: she's not answering, so we're just not going to call
- 40:08Speaker 2: her now how long.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Her Yeah, but defense is very quick to want to
- 40:12Speaker 3: excuse her, right.
- 40:13Speaker 2: So that's the defense of course.
- 40:15Speaker 1: The assistant US attorney, Christie Slavic, said that Gina was
- 40:19Speaker 1: very much part of this case, adding that she was
- 40:21Speaker 1: identified in the indictment. I think this comes down to
- 40:24Speaker 1: a case of the defense is saying, eh, she's not
- 40:26Speaker 1: part of it, the prosecution saying, yes she is, and
- 40:28Speaker 1: they can't find her, and they're hoping they can find her.
- 40:31Speaker 2: God, this we're going to find well.
- 40:34Speaker 1: So we hope Gina's okay and we hope that they
- 40:37Speaker 1: can find her. She was a big part of this case.
- 40:39Speaker 1: She was considered victim number three, and the part of
- 40:42Speaker 1: establishing for the prosecution and what was it the Rico
- 40:48Speaker 1: case is that there's multiple victims, so.
- 40:51Speaker 3: It has been two violations within ten.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Years, right, so she was victim number three, so they
- 40:57Speaker 1: clearly need her testimony.
- 40:59Speaker 2: So there has to be a two they have too.
- 41:01Speaker 2: They have victim one and two Cassie, and then I'm
- 41:04Speaker 2: not sure, so the third one would put it over.
- 41:06Speaker 3: The edge, right, Well, just more. I think the more
- 41:08Speaker 3: testimony is.
- 41:09Speaker 2: So Gina's safe to say, if Gina owed me money,
- 41:12Speaker 2: I'd be upset. I'd be worried right now because she
- 41:14Speaker 2: ain't showing up.
- 41:15Speaker 1: So hopefully we can figure out what happened with Gina
- 41:18Speaker 1: and maybe she comes forward. Also, I do have a
- 41:20Speaker 1: question because they've talked about and alluded to showing footage
- 41:24Speaker 1: of these freak offs, because we know that there's video
- 41:27Speaker 1: footage that he's recorded a lot of them.
- 41:29Speaker 2: In your opinion, do you think showing.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Clips of these freak offs helps the prosecution or helps
- 41:36Speaker 1: the defense?
- 41:37Speaker 3: It depends. If the videos are people cheering and having
- 41:41Speaker 3: a good time and laughing, it's not going to help.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Right prosecuted content of the videos, right, you could see
- 41:49Speaker 2: people drugged up, throwing up and getting sodomized, right, or
- 41:53Speaker 2: are we going to see everybody like shane'sas dancing on
- 41:56Speaker 2: the big bed that was the size of the yard.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I would say that there's probably both in this video archives,
- 42:04Speaker 1: there's probably so it depends on what they pick and
- 42:08Speaker 1: choose what they show the videos.
- 42:10Speaker 2: What part of the videos I saw, Like with Justin
- 42:12Speaker 2: Bieber so far, although it was very unclear what was
- 42:16Speaker 2: actually going going on, you saw enough to make your assumption,
- 42:20Speaker 2: and to make a pretty good assumption. That was enough
- 42:22Speaker 2: for me, right, But what my brother told me? Now,
- 42:26Speaker 2: my brother's been a cop now thirty something years in Patterson.
- 42:30Speaker 2: He's a lieutenant, he's a marine. He's you know, very
- 42:33Speaker 2: well respected in the hostage negotiators. So I always go
- 42:36Speaker 2: to him to break things down for me. Yeah, what
- 42:38Speaker 2: he did say that was before every party, Dicky would
- 42:42Speaker 2: Diddy would come out and say it's about to freak off.
- 42:45Speaker 2: You're not comfortable leave? Yeah, that's like every party, right.
- 42:51Speaker 2: I feel like that covered in ever.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Left and there's curiosity. There's also like I don't want
- 42:58Speaker 3: to get black. This is going to be crazy.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Did he record that part before they recorded these freak
- 43:04Speaker 1: goffas well?
- 43:05Speaker 2: They must have parted for people to suit for him
- 43:07Speaker 2: to protect himself that that was recorded.
- 43:13Speaker 3: Well, Plus, how was it said? Was it with attitude
- 43:15Speaker 3: like get the hell out of here? If you can't
- 43:18Speaker 3: handle us, get out of here. Oh, we don't want
- 43:22Speaker 3: to make you feel uncomfortable.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Then by him saying that if this is true, Lewis
- 43:27Speaker 2: is usually right. If this is true, he just covered
- 43:30Speaker 2: himself to say everyone was there on their own will,
- 43:33Speaker 2: everyone was there consensually. I don't know if that's true,
- 43:38Speaker 2: but you know, you know, I have.
- 43:40Speaker 1: One more thought because we also when we talk about Diddy,
- 43:42Speaker 1: I was thinking about when we were talking about the
- 43:44Speaker 1: expert witness and how she was testifying to the trauma
- 43:48Speaker 1: and sticking around and not leaving when we're talking about Cassie,
- 43:52Speaker 1: and also the fact that it wasn't she didn't come
- 43:55Speaker 1: forward immediately. She came forward years later and talked about
- 43:59Speaker 1: all the abuse that she endured. And it made me
- 44:01Speaker 1: think about Menindez because I don't know how much you
- 44:03Speaker 1: know about the Menindaz case, but that's a lot of
- 44:06Speaker 1: the DMS that I get from people when we talk
- 44:07Speaker 1: about Menindaz, because they were eighteen and twenty one at
- 44:10Speaker 1: the time, and I have so many people that say, well,
- 44:13Speaker 1: they could have just left.
- 44:15Speaker 2: That's why I want us to I want to say
- 44:18Speaker 2: that today I was really looking forward to coming here
- 44:22Speaker 2: with the two of you, because I was very bothered
- 44:24Speaker 2: by the comments that I see on why didn't they
- 44:27Speaker 2: just leave? And that's really just a lot of nothing
- 44:29Speaker 2: against people. I'm happy they don't know this life. I'm
- 44:32Speaker 2: happy they don't understand it, but it's just ignorance and
- 44:35Speaker 2: it's being uneducated about this type of thing. So I
- 44:39Speaker 2: hope that it clears up some things on why people stay,
- 44:42Speaker 2: because when something like that happens to them, their self
- 44:45Speaker 2: worth is so far gone, like so gone. That's why
- 44:49Speaker 2: nobody is born and they're going to say, I'm going
- 44:51Speaker 2: to go be a prostitute, I'm going to go be
- 44:53Speaker 2: on drugs, I'm going to go be a stripper and
- 44:57Speaker 2: have to like sell myself to people. Something is taken
- 45:02Speaker 2: from them at an age. So I mean, I read
- 45:06Speaker 2: about it, look look into it before you judge Cassie
- 45:09Speaker 2: on why she stayed. But what I want to know
- 45:12Speaker 2: is when was she released by him? Because at what
- 45:15Speaker 2: point was she just on? Yeah, That's what I want
- 45:18Speaker 2: to know.
- 45:18Speaker 3: And when I'm guessing I don't know this, I'm guessing
- 45:21Speaker 3: the video played a part in it, because now there
- 45:24Speaker 3: was some leverage this video get released.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Right, Well, the video wasn't twenty four so correct?
- 45:31Speaker 3: But the twenty million? What was that for? What incident
- 45:34Speaker 3: was that she filed that.
- 45:35Speaker 2: She has far gone out of the bled.
- 45:37Speaker 1: A civil case against him before the video came out.
- 45:41Speaker 1: He settled it within twenty four hours?
- 45:43Speaker 3: Right? But don't you think her attorney. I don't know
- 45:45Speaker 3: what got her to go to attorney if she knew
- 45:46Speaker 3: there was video or not, And I could be totally off.
- 45:49Speaker 3: But if she knew there was video that existed part
- 45:51Speaker 3: of this and she if she went to an attorney
- 45:53Speaker 3: and attorney's like, I got this video and then that
- 45:55Speaker 3: solved it in twenty four hours.
- 45:57Speaker 2: I have a theory. I might have one. When did
- 45:59Speaker 2: she start? When did she this guy that she's with
- 46:03Speaker 2: now her husband? Her husband? When did he come into
- 46:06Speaker 2: the picture? Was that around the time that she called
- 46:08Speaker 2: and she said, I want compensation for this?
- 46:11Speaker 3: I you know, I don't know, like he like he
- 46:14Speaker 3: encouraged her, like now they're together.
- 46:16Speaker 2: So I feel like because I have a friend who
- 46:19Speaker 2: once dated this guy. And then she started to say
- 46:22Speaker 2: to like the guy was very jealous of her past relationship.
- 46:26Speaker 2: And then she told him an incident that had happened.
- 46:28Speaker 2: One incident I forget whatever it was she had said
- 46:31Speaker 2: to him, and he's like, you need to press charges now,
- 46:34Speaker 2: and he forced her to press charges when she wouldn't have.
- 46:37Speaker 2: She had just had moved on from this relationship, and
- 46:40Speaker 2: out of nowhere, this guy that she was dating gets
- 46:43Speaker 2: like a restraining order in the mail or some shit.
- 46:46Speaker 2: And it was all because the guy she had now
- 46:49Speaker 2: started dating wanted her to do something about it.
- 46:54Speaker 1: I feel like, so you're saying that maybe having a
- 46:56Speaker 1: good relationship with her husband and him encouraging her to
- 46:59Speaker 1: come forward was the reason why she did it.
- 47:02Speaker 2: The time I'm saying it was a good relationship, I'm
- 47:04Speaker 2: saying like this guy made her maybe possibly do I
- 47:09Speaker 2: have to find before I say anything else and sound
- 47:11Speaker 2: like a fucking total idiot. I'd like to know the
- 47:14Speaker 2: timeline up when she met him, who she's with now,
- 47:17Speaker 2: and then she married and when she filed that.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Yeah, that would just since we've talked about Meninda so much,
- 47:24Speaker 1: and there was always issues with that people had With
- 47:26Speaker 1: the Meninda's case, one it was they were eighteen and
- 47:28Speaker 1: twenty one, why didn't they just leave?
- 47:31Speaker 2: And also why.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Didn't they Originally in the very beginning to talk about
- 47:35Speaker 1: the abuse. The abuse allegations didn't come out till later
- 47:37Speaker 1: after the fact, but it is exactly the same thing
- 47:40Speaker 1: that's happened with Cassie. So I'm saying, if you're a
- 47:42Speaker 1: proponent of Cassie and you understand the trauma bonding, and
- 47:46Speaker 1: you understand why she didn't speak out, I understand why
- 47:48Speaker 1: she didn't leave when she should have. Or when you
- 47:51Speaker 1: understand all of that, you can apply that same logic
- 47:56Speaker 1: to the.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Brothers who were abused by their father. These are kids
- 48:00Speaker 2: who apparently went to their mother, their own mother told
- 48:04Speaker 2: them to shut up about it. I think the biggest
- 48:07Speaker 2: problem most people had back when, and it was a
- 48:09Speaker 2: different world back then when it happened, was that they
- 48:12Speaker 2: up right. But also because of the money they spent
- 48:15Speaker 2: in the partying that went on did not help them.
- 48:17Speaker 3: Yeah, after the deaths.
- 48:19Speaker 2: After the death they went on to party and spend
- 48:23Speaker 2: money and do all these things.
- 48:25Speaker 3: It's a good role with them to wait two months
- 48:26Speaker 3: before you throw big parties at correct.
- 48:28Speaker 2: So and you know, I still don't care what they did,
- 48:32Speaker 2: how they did it, if their father did that to them,
- 48:35Speaker 2: I don't care that they killed them.
- 48:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, And also when you talk about the
- 48:38Speaker 1: spendings free. I think that the media harped on it
- 48:41Speaker 1: so much it just made them look like these rich,
- 48:43Speaker 1: entitled kids just wanted to get rid of their parents
- 48:46Speaker 1: so that they could spend their money.
- 48:48Speaker 2: And no one wanted to hear why they did it.
- 48:50Speaker 1: If you look at it from a different perspective and
- 48:52Speaker 1: say they were abused and control for so long, free
- 48:55Speaker 1: and they were probably trying the first time they had
- 48:57Speaker 1: any freedom in their life, and that's why they did.
- 49:01Speaker 3: They were celebrating happiness. So now we can do this.
- 49:04Speaker 3: Now we can do that. Now we can, you know,
- 49:06Speaker 3: go meet people and get out of the house.
- 49:08Speaker 2: My heart goes out to them, right for what they want?
- 49:10Speaker 1: A little update on my nitas because we didn't do
- 49:12Speaker 1: this at the top of the show, but they did.
- 49:14Speaker 1: They have been recent and so they went through their
- 49:16Speaker 1: recentsing hearing the judge did resentence them, and so they
- 49:19Speaker 1: are eligible for parole. So that is the next step.
- 49:22Speaker 1: They will go before a parole board. And we are
- 49:24Speaker 1: actually we've been talking about this for months and months
- 49:27Speaker 1: and months and ever since Monsters came out.
- 49:29Speaker 2: Of whether they were going to be released or not,
- 49:32Speaker 2: and we are now on like the tip of the ice.
- 49:37Speaker 2: I don't know what I don't I'm not sure what
- 49:39Speaker 2: it is. I think there's a date for it, and
- 49:40Speaker 2: I can't remember off the top of my head. But
- 49:42Speaker 2: they will go before the parole board. Well I hope
- 49:44Speaker 2: they get released, but I think they've done their time.
- 49:47Speaker 2: They've paid, you know, to do the time you pay?
- 49:49Speaker 2: The wait, what was it up? Do the crime? You pay?
- 49:52Speaker 2: The time? Was it barretta? This song from Baratta? But
- 49:57Speaker 2: whoever doesn't know that that's an old cop show. But
- 50:01Speaker 2: you know, for me, you know, and as you both know,
- 50:04Speaker 2: if you're going in front of a parole board, the
- 50:06Speaker 2: most important thing is to show remorse. So I hope
- 50:09Speaker 2: that they can show the remorse that's needed, show that
- 50:14Speaker 2: they've done their time and they've learned their lesson. That's
- 50:17Speaker 2: another thing that you have to show when you come
- 50:19Speaker 2: in front of the parole board. And I hope that
- 50:21Speaker 2: they can convince the board to finally release them.
- 50:24Speaker 1: So we'll follow that and let you know. But anyway,
- 50:26Speaker 1: thank you guys so much for listening to Legally Brunette.
- 50:29Speaker 1: We hope you enjoyed the episode, and thanks the Louris
- 50:31Speaker 1: for being here.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Thanks for having me. I enjoy this by the way,
- 50:34Speaker 2: thank you, thank you. And I enjoyed the two of
- 50:35Speaker 2: you so much. Thank you.
