Lake Austin to Drop 10 Feet for Hydrilla Fight | San Antonio News
Lake Austin’s about to get a whole lot shallower—nearly ten feet—to battle the invasive hydrilla choking its waters. Starting October 12th and running through November 30th, the Lower Colorado River Authority will lower the lake to improve recreation and give property owners time to fix docks and boat slips. Public ramps and swimming at Emma Long Park will be off-limits during this period. While some residents and fishermen debated whether hydrilla helps or hurts, the city sided with water access and maintenance.
