- 0:05do you expect me to believe that that story is the biggest load of
- 0:09crabapple making out with mol But I thought you didn't want a data tabynonna at
- 0:16this point, all I wants a man with a healthy lorbido. Uh huh,
- 0:20Well this is where it gets awkward again. Yeah, Ma, can't
- 0:24catch your break one two, three four Can't catch a break? One two,
- 0:28three four Can't catch a break one two, three four four Finger Discount,
- 0:32Dude, Welcome to four Finger Discount, the podcast where we what do
- 0:51we do? Mister Davis? We have an obsessive compulsitor disword on three four.
- 0:56This week we hit the review episode h b F zero six. It
- 0:59is the seeming never ending story. I am Dando joined right now by of
- 1:02course, I am guy fresh from the pay chalet. Yes, as befits
- 1:07the sort of all over the shop nature of this episode. That intro was
- 1:11indeed all over the place, because we're just winging this one man. So
- 1:15I had good memories of this episode. I remember really enjoying it. I
- 1:18don't watched it several years ago, and I didn't mind it it's a fun
- 1:22story. It just throws all logic out the window. So you can get
- 1:23past the logic being thrown out the window. It's enjoyable. But I'm watching
- 1:26when you're critique in this episode, I'm like, there are a lot of
- 1:30questions being asked of me right now to ignore. Well, yeah, I
- 1:34mean, I don't know. I personally think with season seventeen so far,
- 1:41maybe with season sixteen as well, it's time to just throw continuity and all
- 1:46that stuff out of the window. You know, I mean, stuff happens
- 1:49in Springfield, it happens to the Simpsons family, happens with the people of
- 1:52Springfield, and you really just got to roll with it. I think there
- 1:55are certain fundamentals that will stay in place. But otherwise it's a good episode.
- 1:59This in terms of it's about, you know, memory and subjective memory.
- 2:02I mean, you're going to remember something different the way someone else remembered
- 2:06it, So yeah, it kind of makes sense in that regard. But
- 2:09you're right, it is a little higgalipigedly, but thought I had a lot
- 2:13of fun with it coming. Yeah. I'm a sucker for stories within stories
- 2:15within stories. You know, it's like, um, and this one did
- 2:19it kind of well as far as I'm concerned, we live in the age
- 2:22of origin stories, right Andy, the ones they gave us here. Whilst
- 2:25illogical, we're a lot of fun. I loved and also depressing. I
- 2:30love seeing young Edna arriving, missus k you know, bright eye, bushy
- 2:32tailed, ready to take on the world, and then just and the same
- 2:36with Snake and Springfield, just wearing them down and just turning them into the
- 2:39into just broken people where Snake now becomes a criminal and missus kay is just
- 2:44you know broken notes she she has to Springfield, she hates the bars and
- 2:47the taverns and like kind of thing because of her ex husband. That's now
- 2:51where she lives, you know what I mean. So I was depressing in
- 2:53that aspect, but I did like the seeing a young missus Kaye just full
- 2:58of life and ready to go. But it just made me sad at the
- 3:00same time. Now, I want to talk about Indica for a moment,
- 3:04particularly in relation to this episode. The voice seems different. Maybe she's just
- 3:09trying to act younger. I guess, yeah, I mean it was Marshall
- 3:13Wallace, but I guess you're just trying to put a younger spin on it.
- 3:15But the thing is, though, can you tell your point and I'll
- 3:17get onto my point what you're going to say about missus Ka the voice.
- 3:21I mean, it didn't even seem younger. It just seemed like someone's doing
- 3:25a not bad Marshal Wallace impersonation. I'm sure, mothers. Let's check.
- 3:31Yes, it says he Maurice Maurice LaMarche. He's the voice. I didn't
- 3:36realize he was on this instance. Yeah, he voices commanded mc bragg when
- 3:38they're doing the Scavenger hunt and they're starting the Scamenger Hunt. But yeah,
- 3:42it doesn't say Marshall Wallace. Then she usually is listed there, but I'm
- 3:44assuming it would have been Marshall Wallace. But maybe it wasn't. I'm not
- 3:46too sure, listeners, let me know what you think, because yeah,
- 3:51I was like, it sounds like someone doing a good impersonation of eddicate or
- 3:54doing their best indicate. Now, yes, said middlely. It is a
- 3:58different sort of uh time period, and she's meant to be sort of younger
- 4:02and more innocent, but she didn't feel younger and more isn't it just felt
- 4:04like different despite appearances the country. I'm not complaining, but it was.
- 4:12It was just something that I noticed so um anyway, but I'm sort of
- 4:16leaping into favorite bits because the whole um, the whole Mo and Edna romance
- 4:25such as summer romance, Yeah, summer love it. It happened so fast.
- 4:30I just was really sweet and but also very I mean, maybe not
- 4:35true to Edna so much as the way we know her now, but they
- 4:39actually felt like kindred spirits and Mo felt like, you know, he wasn't
- 4:42trying to be even though he was lying. Whole the whole thing was based
- 4:46on lies, though it was, but it felt like it felt like genuine
- 4:48Mo, even though he was lying because she wasn't loving a real person though
- 4:53no true, it felt like the best version of more. Yeah. Yeah,
- 4:57yeah, It's like this is this is what he could have been or
- 5:00even to a better person. But the second he doesn't get his own way,
- 5:01I was like Kendle in succession, you, I think you've watched the
- 5:04show, But the second that guy doesn't get his own way, it's becomes
- 5:06a perpetiant little baby. That's exactly what happens to the mode here. I've
- 5:11got um, yeah, I've got to catch up with a succession. I
- 5:14think I've watched maybe like half of the first season, Okay, And it's
- 5:18not like I didn't like it or anything like that. It's just like,
- 5:20all this is one of those things that I'll leave you feeling empty. The
- 5:25finale ad this week, and Nicola and I just little at each other afterwards
- 5:28and went, oh, that just happened. From what I understand, it
- 5:31is pretty sort of bleak. Yeah, I won't spoil anything obviously. No,
- 5:36Yeah, they're kind of spoiled from myself already. I mean, I
- 5:40didn't It didn't strike me as the kind of show that was like, and
- 5:44here's a twist at the end. It was more that's the thing the entire
- 5:46time, We're going, what's a twist going to be? Because we're so
- 5:48used to shows having twists. Now, Yeah, there never really was a
- 5:53twist, And if there was a twist, you could see it coming two
- 5:55episodes in advance. He saw it was a twist in there. Well,
- 5:58but the way the show was plant was mac down you could see it coming,
- 6:01you know. All Right, Well that's best ssion. That's enough about
- 6:05That's enough about that show. Let's keep talking about this show. Although we
- 6:09might do a succession pod If Everyone Wants to LEAs One actually won the Primetime
- 6:15Emmy Award for Outstanding achieve It in the Field of Excellence, as well as
- 6:18the Outstanding Program oh My God Outstanding Animated Program for Programming less than one Hour
- 6:26At the thirty fourth and the Awards. Episode and episode writer Ian Maxtone Graham
- 6:30won the award for Best Writing in an Animated Television Production. So people will
- 6:33big fans of this episode where it originally aired. As you were saying,
- 6:36it's a lot of fun throws, lots you get the window, but sometimes
- 6:39you just gotta do that when you want to have some fun, switch your
- 6:41brain off and just you know, some of the best action movies that I
- 6:44love ones were just gonna switch your brain off and just enjoy what you're watching.
- 6:47But I did want to bring up you shared a video this week on
- 6:50social media that is very relatable to when I say modern Simpsons, I mean
- 6:56season seventeen Simpsons and beyond right, And it was Tray and Matt from South
- 6:59Park talking about therefore and but yes right instead of and then. So how
- 7:06often do we review these episodes and it feels like, as you always say,
- 7:10a bunch of stuff and stuff that happened. This is happening, and
- 7:13then this is happening, and then this is happening, and then the ending
- 7:15ends, and there isn't really an ending, right, Yeah, but our
- 7:18boys try and Matt in this video and it only goes for three minutes.
- 7:20I'm assuming you know. They gave a longer lecture to the film students at
- 7:25New York University. It blows your mind, but honestly, they just distill
- 7:28it down to just three minutes. And Trey himself says, look, it
- 7:32took me ages to learn this, but once you get it, it's like,
- 7:35oh, okay, yeah, this makes sense, and this is how
- 7:38you tell stories. And the upshot of it is if you have an incident,
- 7:42then you have to ask the question or the next step is, Okay,
- 7:46this happened, therefore this happens, or this happens, but that happened,
- 7:51and it's like that's how you tell a story. That's how it moves
- 7:54forward, as opposed to oh, this happened, and then this happened,
- 7:57and then this happens. No, this happen, therefore this happens. All
- 8:01this happens, but that happened because I sent to Nicola that the perfect example
- 8:05is like season seventeen seems it happens earlier as well. But it's like,
- 8:09you know, you get to the end of the first act, how often
- 8:11it has happened this in particular, in particular this season, Right, we
- 8:13get to the end of the first act and it's like, oh, so
- 8:16this is the story for the episode. The first five six minutes, we're
- 8:18inconsequential to the actual stories, Like you could have cut that all out,
- 8:22like to say, for example, when you know when Bart gets center,
- 8:24when we're on the road to Doughware and Bart's getting sent away to the camp,
- 8:28right, you know that they didn't like Bart doing something naughtiest. So
- 8:31for the entire first act it was like Bart being naughtiost like, do we
- 8:33have to have all this again? Like this this happens, and then this
- 8:37happens, and then this happens. And as you're saying, Trey and Matt,
- 8:39this happens. But the studd that happened in the second act can't happen
- 8:41unless the stuff that happened in the first act happened. Has it all flows
- 8:45us to flow on effect, and I just it blew my moment. I
- 8:48watched as I was like, no, wonder, South Park is so fucking
- 8:50good. Indeed, having said that, you know, something else we talk
- 8:54about when we talk about recent episode the Simpsons is that sometimes they can feel
- 8:58like this idea isn't good enough for a whole episode, but neither this one.
- 9:03So let's jam them together and maybe they'll, you know, they'll make
- 9:07it up an entire episode. And often it was like, this is like
- 9:11Frankenstein's Monster, It's Ugly's gonna kill me. It's three different stories that you
- 9:16feel I could have been an episode, but that has crammed him into this.
- 9:18Yeah, yeah, here the Scavenger Hunt episode, I don't know.
- 9:22I don't think it'd be a whole episode. Maybe it could have the summer
- 9:24romance between Mo and Edna, I don't know. But distilling them I love
- 9:31good Scavenger Hunt, it's pretty good. But distilling them down to just their
- 9:37their essence, the best parts of them, and then having them as chapters
- 9:41or installments or bits and pieces of a bigger episode. I think it works
- 9:46really well in this case because they realize, yeah, we can't stretch it
- 9:50out, so let's shrink it down, concentrate it, you know, make
- 9:52a nice red One's juice to put on. Yes, yes, this is
- 9:58this episode is a lot of fun, illogical but fun. Much like four
- 10:01Figured Discat, much like My life. Yes, hey, my favorite.
- 10:07What were your favorite moments from the episode, mister Davis, Well, really
- 10:11it was primarily the romance between between Mo and and I just I don't know,
- 10:18I like, like, I liked the whole feel of it, just
- 10:20that visually, I thought it was fantastic. Um, you've written down here,
- 10:24nice ascot on. You know, the way he's dressed up. Ye,
- 10:30But she's bringing out the best in him. Yeah, and he's not
- 10:31the real him, but she's she's if you are, like, if she
- 10:35hadn't gone into that school, Mo would have become a better person. Yeah,
- 10:37And it feels like a nice sliding doors moment for Form who was a
- 10:41character I do like. So I think that was probably my favorite part of
- 10:46the entire episode. I mean, also just the way Moho expressed himself when
- 10:50he's talking about no same gen the rack of an angel. I knew you're
- 10:54gonna like that line. I'm like, I will like this. I've got
- 10:56that I will love that. But the thing is, though it sounds mislogynistic,
- 11:03but like, that's the nicest. That's the nicest thing I can say,
- 11:07Like, that's that's that's Mora being the best version of Moe. You
- 11:09know, it's as nice as he can be. I love the fact I
- 11:11didn't know I didn't know where it came from. I've used it numerous times.
- 11:16The Moe throwing Barney out of the bar meme came from this episode.
- 11:18Yeah. I was like, oh man, that's been used so many times.
- 11:22It's like the perfect visual for a meme when you want to say you're
- 11:26trying to get rid of something and it keeps coming back. It's perfect,
- 11:28and it was in this episode. But I also got a big kick out
- 11:31of the mirror bate and switch where he shot Burns in their head because when
- 11:33he first shot him, I was about to that typing gif fuck as if
- 11:37this oh you got me, you got me. I thought it was going
- 11:41to be one of those usual you know, Burns is can survive anything,
- 11:43you know, when when he slaps him in the back of the hand,
- 11:46goes through the chest and shit like that, which which really annoys me.
- 11:48But he shot him in the head. I was like, Okay, he
- 11:50shot him in the head. There's no way he's surviving. Oh it's just
- 11:52a mirror. Well playing, well player, you got me? We'll played
- 11:56Simpsons. Yes, all right, mister Davis, it's time for something trivia.
- 12:01What's your first question for the seemingly never ending story? Start with your
- 12:05sexiest one? Oh gosh, okay, in the graveyard? Can you name
- 12:11the sexy? Three? What's that that's sexy? That's sexy? Can you
- 12:16name three? Or Burns as relatives? I didn't write those down? What
- 12:20are they? Can you tell me? I'll give you all five? There
- 12:22is that I saw anyway. Agatha Cotton, Rutherford Stewart, and Mildred all
- 12:30have tombstones in the in the graveyard and they're all Burns. Is they are
- 12:35all Burns? As ye? I wasn't sure they're going to go for a
- 12:37gag or like him being related to Hitler or something like that. My first
- 12:43question is actually related to to tombstones. Whose tombston did mister Burns have in
- 12:46the back of his car as part of the scavenger hunt. He was driving
- 12:50with Smithers and there was a tombstone in the back. Oh man, it's
- 12:54a character that they love having callbacks too. And every time it always works
- 12:58because everyone just has this love for the character. One time only character one
- 13:01time was moving. No, no, no, it's Frank Grunt, Frank
- 13:03Grimes Grimmy, that's right. Yeah. I don't know why how I made
- 13:07that connections like it was bleeding us with it. No, no, it
- 13:11was the complete opposite of skinny little light Man. What year was Carl's cave
- 13:20discovered by Carl's dad? Oh, I had I was gonna write that only
- 13:22fifty six. I think it wasn't nineteen fifty six. Speaking of can remember
- 13:26we did that episode where it was Carl's from Iceland? I'm so was he
- 13:31from Iceland? I don't know. That just really did a number on you,
- 13:33didn't it You would just spend I was not happy. I was so
- 13:37sad that day. My next question is either the power plant is on this
- 13:43or is where mister Burns lives? What is the address? Lisa says,
- 13:46I'm off to well, no, mister Burns says, I'm off to this
- 13:50way. When he realizes that he's got the photo, it's one hundred industrial
- 13:54way. It was indeed, Yet, Okay, we need more because I've
- 13:58got one more for I hit me one more and I hit you of one
- 14:01more as well. Ye okay, where was mister Burns born? Where Pangaea
- 14:07Pangaea? Mhmm. I was interested to know what his email might be.
- 14:09What do you make mister Burns's email would be? I feel like it's something
- 14:13that Smithers would have made it for him. Mister Burns wouldn't have made it.
- 14:16So would you just get the simple light you know, see Montgomery at
- 14:20hotmail dot com Or do you think he would have made it something because mister
- 14:24Burns wouldn't check his emails ever, would he? Missus Smith would be doing
- 14:26turned me on Burns brilliant boss or something like that, you know, yeah?
- 14:31Um, And my final question will be what have we got? I
- 14:35actually had the nine fifty six is one of my questions and even realized,
- 14:37so I'm gonna make one up on the spot here mob was head into the
- 14:39supply store to get what um urinal cake mix? Yeah, that was another
- 14:46line. I really liked a lot of mosingers in this episode. Yeah,
- 14:50this is a good performance from one from Hank for sure. The fourth Figure

- 15:35was March twelve to two thousand and six numbers. So, David, I'm
- 15:37not doing the Blockbuster Brainbuster anymore. It just takes up too much of our
- 15:41time. But I will tell you it hurt my brain. Well, I
- 15:43will tell you what the top three films at the box office were when this
- 15:46episode originally aired for that week they were Failure to Launch was number one,
- 15:50The Shaggy Dog was number two, and The Hills Have Eyes was number three,
- 15:54Hills Have Eyes. That was a movie that I haven't watched since I
- 15:56watched the first time, but I remember it's scaring the shit out of me.
- 16:00It's really nasty. Yeah, we've talked about the first two. We
- 16:03talked about, Yeah, Yeah, Failure to Launch with McConaughey and Sarah Jessica
- 16:07Parker and The Shaggy Dog with Tim Allen, and yeah, but the Hills
- 16:11Have Eyes. That's a remake of a seventies movie by the late great Wes
- 16:15Craven who made the Screen Movies, in which a family is traveling through the
- 16:22deserts on their way to California. Except what's living in the desert but a
- 16:26bunch of a freaky family made into hostile mutants by radioactivity and all that kind
- 16:33of business, and they're out to kill and dare I say eat this all
- 16:37American family that then has to fight back. It's this This remake is really
- 16:44actually really good. Often with horror, not necessarily slasher horror, but like
- 16:49other versions of horror, but this kind of thing, the remakes are usually
- 16:52pretty good because that the special effects are usually better. Absolutely, Yeah,
- 16:56I mean, got a really good cast and a fantastic director named then when
- 17:02want to do another remake um Pirana three D, which is one of my
- 17:06favorite horror movies of the twenty teens. It's so gross. Yeah, it's
- 17:12so much fun, speaking of the logical but fun three D. Oh,
- 17:18so much fun. But yeah, he'll have eyes. Um. Look,
- 17:21if you've got a strong stomach and a strong constitution. Yeah, but when
- 17:23just check it out if you dig horror movies, know a similar kind of
- 17:26movie that I loved when it first came out. I haven't watched it for
- 17:30so long, I have to revisit it. Wrong Turn. Remember Wrong Turn?
- 17:33I remember being so so called off Garba. How much I enjoyed that
- 17:37movie Wrong Turn? Yeah. Yeah, and they made like five or six
- 17:40of them. Yeah, but the first one is the one that matters.
- 17:41That's the one I remember. I remember the chick with the red hair getting
- 17:45the barbed wire like through the mouth at the start, on the side of
- 17:48the road. I remember that that death. But like you, I love
- 17:49the good. Just like Mutant, he'll be really kind of like just coming
- 17:52and killed things. I just love that kind of story. Yeah, it's
- 17:55it's always fun. And I loved Wrong Turn. I thought it was awesome.
- 17:57Yeah, I know slight of the sequels a little bit, but honestly
- 18:03wrong Turn two Cold Dead End is that by the way, it's it's really
- 18:11good. It's got a lot, it's got some great kills. Um yeah,
- 18:15and you know, interesting characters now it works really well. The rest
- 18:18of them are kind of kind of junk. That's the thing. You sort
- 18:21of watch those movies just for the creative ways to kill people, and that's
- 18:23what's sort of like John Wick's become, hasn't it. How's he going to
- 18:26kill these people? I remember there's the one with the pen the pencil and
- 18:29like John Wick three, and I was like, this movie has just become
- 18:32fucking John Wick kill port. I watched Wick four any good the other night.
- 18:37It really loves a lot of it. It goes for nearly three hours
- 18:41and not a lot happens in it. You know. It's but at the
- 18:45same time, yeah, look I didn't I didn't dislike it. I was
- 18:51talking about it with my good friend Anthony, who's a real you know actution
- 18:55movie efficionado were sort of saying, yeah, look it's great. I mean,
- 18:57it's beautifully made, and you know, the locations are fantastic. Ken
- 19:02Is really good. It's gotta all star cast of action heroes. But you
- 19:07know, when you look at it's like there's maybe six scenes or six things
- 19:11that happened in this movie, and that for a movie that goes three hours,
- 19:12kind of like Kevin Goes capping the watch. Yeah, I'm terrible at
- 19:21keeping promises. And you know, I really shouldn't say, hey, I'll
- 19:23do movie gays on this because I maybe never will, but maybe I should.
- 19:26So are you're going to see me? Do it? Pad Spider Verse
- 19:30two whatever it's called. What's what's the actual tier called? It's across the
- 19:33Spider Verse. Yeah, I'm let's wrap this up because I got a good
- 19:37malm when he go see it. Yes, yes, we want a movie,
- 19:38guys, A little while, guy, a little review on that one.
- 19:41For sure, make that happen. Let's have all the things you gotta
- 19:42do. That's the one you're gonna make happen. And by the way,
- 19:47sub number four just quickly was sixteen blocks your man, Bruce Willis, wasn't
- 19:51it. Oh yeah, the movie as well. I remember enjoying that as
- 19:53well. That's a solid one. That's like the unofficial die Hard sequal before
- 19:59the crap I had set so that was number four when this at the box
- 20:03office when this episode originally aired. But the episode was written by E.
- 20:07M. Stone Graham. As we said earlier, he won the Emmy,
- 20:10and it was directed by Raymond s Percy and Maurice LaMarsh as Commander mcbragg.
- 20:15There wasn't no chalk graun at the catch gag. What's that you're laughing about?
- 20:17Something? That's what are you laughing about? About? The lovely Day?
- 20:21My name was Raymond Percy, like something Homer would say when he wants
- 20:26to get mister Burns Martin Prince. Isn't your name Raymond Percy Percy? Make
- 20:36sure he's still with us, so we're not hanging shit on a dead person.
- 20:38Also, there'll be a picture of him. He's going to be built
- 20:41like John Center or so he's um. So he's written some awesome episodes of
- 20:47the Simpsons, so he wrote um. He wrote twenty four Minutes, which
- 20:51is an episode that I absolutely love. It's the twenty four parody, so
- 20:53um was it directed? And he was a director of an episode. He's
- 20:56also a director of Mobile Hume, which didn't really enjoy. But the girl
- 21:00was slept too little when at least sleeps in the Semishode was a good one
- 21:02as well, plus some others coming up in the in the new future.
- 21:04But yes, so having a shit on Raymond to you, everybody loves when
- 21:10these directorial skills just just his poncy name, standing up for yourself, point
- 21:12dexter. All right, And there was no chalk gag, but the couch
- 21:18gag was it's got here the couch with Marge, Maggie, Barton, Lisa
- 21:22on It is delivered to the living room via conveyor belt and stops in front
- 21:26of the TV. Homer is added on by a mechanical arm and the couch
- 21:29continues onward. All right. So the episode kicks off with the family entering
- 21:33Carl's dad's caverns, but realize that they're on a nature walk. And I
- 21:37did not like this at all, where Lisa gives him a nickel in the
- 21:40bottle to keep me entertained. I'm like, bart is not this stupid.
- 21:42I don't like this just felt silly to me. I was not a fan
- 21:45of that. But they find the finger of Testini. I think that's what
- 21:48they call it, the guide of pointing down. There was a few question
- 21:52a few questionable lines in this episode, such as silly Indians, well product
- 21:57of this thing where it's like, no, no, you're not meant to
- 22:03be thinking we're making fun of Indians. We're making fun of Homer for making
- 22:04fun of Indians because he's a bigot. It's like, I don't know,
- 22:08girl, it sounds like you want to have it both ways. He fell
- 22:11asleep on the job. He says that his guy made their god. Then
- 22:15Homer takes a little tiny chip to put in his desk at work and he
- 22:18creates his giant syncol They all fall down and he has to be saved by
- 22:22how do he has it? I think he says tasting the genius? He
- 22:25says something different, doesn't he I'm going to disrespect our American friends here because
- 22:30I've noticed they do this a bit um. Certain letters at the start of
- 22:37things are often silent. I mean the tea at the start of Sister Nagenie
- 22:41is not meant to be pronounced much like And this happened when the X Men
- 22:45movies came out. Everyone's saying, hey, it's Professor Charles Xavier. No,
- 22:49that's just Xavier Xavier Xavier. Yeah exavior, Yeah it was, but
- 22:56was it xavier. Is that how it was supposed to be pronounced like in
- 22:59that world? I don't think so. I think everyone I think they looked
- 23:02at and go, well, if we pronounce it zev, people are going
- 23:03to see words in X men. Wor isn't it z men because it's spelled
- 23:08X pronounced z I the conversation they had in the boardroom, I wouldn't be
- 23:14surprised if it's zev yet, then why isn't it it's man? Yeah,
- 23:21we're going to get letters. The X very important in x men, so
- 23:26make sure you make sure you are you say the X. Yeah, indeed,
- 23:30But I look, I would pronounce this cisterna genie but but maybe yeah.
- 23:37But in the episode, they are pronouncing it. So Homer gets stuck.
- 23:41Though he says he needs to pee now, he's just now, he's
- 23:42just stuck so obviously his pants. Margin says, I'm gonna go get We'll
- 23:47get the fireman that got you off the ride that time or whatever, And
- 23:48I'm like, how exactly you're stuck in this hole? Yeah, there's there
- 23:53shouldn't be any other entrances to this place, which is which is what raises
- 23:56questions at the end I was like, how did everyone just like like or
- 24:00sort of just arrive out of nowhere? Were they in there as well?
- 24:03These guys fell down a hole that was not there beforehand into this like cavern
- 24:07down the bottom. Then all of a sudden, Burns arrives and the ticks
- 24:11and arrives and snake comes down with his sun from the roof. I'm like,
- 24:12where the fuck did they come from? This is why I don't go
- 24:17caving or exploring or splunking. The idea of caving terrifies me. Like you
- 24:21see some videos with people in these little tiny cracks and they're trying to get
- 24:25through it, and I'm like, no way. You could not pay me
- 24:27a million dollars to do that. No way, I wouldn't do it,
- 24:30no way, no day, forget about it. No, I'm just thinking
- 24:33about it makes me sick. I just I'm very bad with tight spaces.
- 24:37But I just don't think I could do it at all. I just not
- 24:41a chance at all. Yeah, but they point out that this place is
- 24:44not on the map, so they go looking for a way out. I'm
- 24:47like, good luck, okay, fun with that one. Good luck with
- 24:51that. Listener says she's going to tell a story to keep home or occupied,
- 24:53but no unicorns at Homer says. So, she mentions how she was
- 24:56walking home from school last week through the forest, randomly through the forest the
- 25:00way home from school, and a ram starts charging her. I was walking
- 25:04home from school when suddenly I hurt, Oh, hello, mister big horn
- 25:11sheep. I've read about you. You're shy and you're rarely approach humans.
- 25:21And of course he'd never attack a fellow beast, liberal mit it. Yeah,
- 25:38So when the ram burst through the window, so lets her in to
- 25:41get us to safety. Right when the ram burst through the window, you
- 25:45can actually see the necklace on the rams horn, right, And every time
- 25:49you see the ram going forward you don't see the necklace. I'm thinking,
- 25:52if you're going to go through that much trouble to put the necklace there for
- 25:56that shot but then not include it going forward, might as well not have
- 26:00at all, because it doesn't make sense that it was there. Then it
- 26:03wasn't there because there's nowhere else for it to hide. On the ram's horn,
- 26:06it's either there, it's not the enemy hanging there. So when it
- 26:07burst through the window initially into mister Burns's house, you see it hanging there,
- 26:11but then when it's chasing after him down the hallway, it's not there
- 26:14anymore. I get where you're coming from, and you make a great deal
- 26:17of sense, but also I don't really care. So the he destroys the
- 26:23extraal table as its chased him, they get to the panic room and the
- 26:26passwords Pangaea and the password has been emailed at him. How often do you
- 26:29forget your your passwords? Should I cop to this in public? Because for
- 26:34a lot of my accounts, I only have one. I knew. I
- 26:37just felt like that would be the answer for you. You have the same
- 26:38password for everything, and it's Guy Davis sexy man, or it's just like
- 26:44Guy Davis sixty nine to be telling everybody, yeah, no, no,
- 26:52but the Balkan the one thing, or it was like, hey, you
- 26:59need to have this and this like okay, I'll add this variation. Yeah,
- 27:03but occasionally, like if it's something that I don't use or I know
- 27:06I'm only going to use online and it's like or on a specific computer,
- 27:10and then'll be like, okay, finally I'll accept the suggested strong password.
- 27:15That's just you know, this incredible long remember letters and symbols that you never
- 27:19never, never remember. Most of the time, I'm pretty good with passwords,
- 27:22and then it'll be like, no, it's not that. And then
- 27:26but it will say, hey, this password requires this, and it's like,
- 27:29oh, okay, it's the other one. It's planned b. So
- 27:32it's just like the do you have many different passwords for different a lot of
- 27:36different passwords, but I have a little book that has them all in it,
- 27:37so write them all down. I'll forget. But I just think it.
- 27:40Imagine being like a just mean, like a hacker, right and finally
- 27:44realizing you've cracked the password of like some famous celebrity for their Twitter account.
- 27:48The thrill of that moment must be so awesome, know you Now you're now
- 27:51controlling the Ashton Koch's Twitter. Isn't that the isn't that the creeper like you
- 27:56know, busted into the cloud and got all Jennifer Lawrence's nude though I don't
- 28:00know, well, people have the systems all the time, and I'm not
- 28:03just saying the nu people that release nude picks are like terrible and like I
- 28:07made the choice never look those up because it's like they were taken in If
- 28:11you go on Playboy or something. That's different. But if you if your
- 28:14nudes have been leaked, that is the biggest breach of privacy because the thing
- 28:18is, for example, you're gonn take into account the way I see.
- 28:19I'm just like because my friend was like, oh, Jennifer Lawrence nuds out,
- 28:22and I'm like, I just say I was famous and someone found nudes
- 28:26of Nicola and put them on the internet, like it would be. I
- 28:30just couldn't imagine the embarrassment for Nicola, and like, I would hate to
- 28:33think that everyone's out there like looking at Nicola was no clothes on, right,
- 28:36So I make the deliberate choice to not do the same. But if
- 28:38they pose naked, that's different, right, That's true. Just go watch
- 28:42Red Sparrow. What's what's Red Sparrow? It's a movie. The Jennifer Lawrences
- 28:47are appeasmember. She was like the last big one where remember there was like
- 28:53heaps of nude leaks at the time, would like someone broke in and like
- 28:56leaked everyone's nudes at that time, didn't there She was like the she was
- 29:00like a list that the atime she's not really She's still a list, but
- 29:03she's not really she sat taking back with step now and actually gonna be a
- 29:07mother souon what she No, she she's had a kid, she had he
- 29:11waste. Yeah, but yeah she I think she gave her mortic an interview
- 29:15where she said, I didn't really have a lifetile decide to go get one.
- 29:18So yeah, that makes sense. I mean she's respectively got it one
- 29:22maybe two oscars already, and you know, should turn her money from being
- 29:25in the Hunger Games movies and the X Men movies and all that kind of
- 29:27stuff. So yeah, and I think she can just like I think I
- 29:30might kick back and enjoy it for a while and more power to Yep.
- 29:33Yep. But mister Burns and Lisa they hide in the attic. But first
- 29:37of all, he goes up the chair on the stairs and I'll just get
- 29:40missus deagle vibes from Gremlins into that chair. Oh yeah. But yeah,
- 29:44So they're hiding in the attic. Smith's is out getting a spray ton,
- 29:45and Lisa then finds the Employee of the Month award for mo for Moss,
- 29:49where he starts the man's a walking crimsical. Yeah, they start. He
- 29:53starts telling the story that he was part of the Excluders Club. Han't interrupts,
- 29:57saying, you know, now you're telling Burns the story, and she
- 30:00says he compares the two. You know, when you watch old home videos,
- 30:03if you watching TV. Oh, it makes perfect sense. Now and
- 30:06that's a good comparison. That makes perfect sense. So as opposed to the
- 30:08play and within the play in Hamlet, you work at most Yes, there
- 30:15lies a tale of woo and heartbreak. When I couldn't possibly recount, I
- 30:19understand, I just read a magazine. Okay, here's the story. I
- 30:23belonged to a very exclusive club, the Excludier's Club. One day while I
- 30:30was savoring the exclusivity. Wait, wait, wait, wait, now you're
- 30:34telling me Burns his story. Yeah, it's like the play within a play
- 30:38in Hamlet. Let's see, it's like when you watch old home movies of
- 30:42you watching TV. Gotcha? One day a new member arrived at the club.
- 30:51Who's this drat upole apric card. Yeah, I'm in oil. What's
- 30:56your racquet? Slim new club power? They make money using my brain nuts,
- 31:03sticking a pool in the ground and praying for good. You need to
- 31:07get your hands dirty. Point extra devilment, A little Texas crude down in
- 31:15Houston. We call that a fort Worth shampoo. Sir, hey challenge you
- 31:21to a dude. You got it a bullet in the brain at high now,
- 31:29my ads, they could kill me. Hello about we settle things with
- 31:32a scavenger hunt. You're on twigget sorry about that. I'm just I'm a
- 31:37big fan of a scavenger hun. When's the last time you did a scavenger
- 31:40hunt? We actually hosted one for our radio show when I was on k
- 31:42Rock well ten to fifteen years ago, and people went wild for it.
- 31:47It was like people loved it. How many what sort of items did they
- 31:51have to get? It was things like you know, photos are certain landmarks
- 31:53in Geelong. But there was one where I was like, like we didn't
- 31:59say which specific store it was to get a kebab from a specific store,
- 32:01but there was clues which store it was, and like if you if you
- 32:05got the kebab from the right store, once you had finished the kebab,
- 32:07then you would be given the tokens. People were going to these kebab stores
- 32:10buying a kabab, eating it and then the guy was like, I know
- 32:13what you're talking about. It so like it was just so that's the way
- 32:16we sort of got sponsors for the for the thing because various stores were getting
- 32:20promotion as a result at the end. Yeah, that's very clever, Dan.
- 32:25The rule was that you weren't allowed to tell the person in the kebab
- 32:29shop about the scavenger hunt. So it was just like either they knew or
- 32:32they didn't. And like they said, so many people would just be like,
- 32:36what scavenger hunt? What are you talking about? It? Like,
- 32:42but the next morning here and they've got ten items to collect when it takes
- 32:45all And what did you think of the dream on bitch line from from Burns?
- 32:50Yeah, it doesn't fit Burns. I don't think doesn't Burns. I
- 32:53mean that it's yeah, just one of those things where you have a character
- 32:59who normal, he wouldn't say stuff like that, Bob Barker, Bob Barker.
- 33:02At least at least it worked there though, because he was responding to
- 33:07what happy Gilmoitead said that is correct. This didn't really work. So I
- 33:10worked the montage of them collecting things like suspenders. They each take one of
- 33:14Lenny suspenders, his pants fall down, the letter I from the Springfield sign
- 33:17Homer's hand to take one hair each. Then they need a photo with a
- 33:21smiling child, and mister Burns tries to get one on the school bus and
- 33:23it's just not happening at all, and the rich textle wins because he gets
- 33:27one with the Jimbo. Jimbo was happy to be part of it, gets
- 33:29the photo there. I think I think it was jim It was a gim
- 33:30It looked like Jimbo, right, was it Jimbo? I think so,
- 33:32yeah, yeah, And he rides smithers out out of the office or out
- 33:37of the out of the room. Then Burns. He spends three days or
- 33:40three nights with his unrelatives at the cemetery, and he says, I'm gonna
- 33:44way out from bottom. I'm gonna whip my way up to Mo's first,
- 33:45or from Mo's first, to get to get to the bottom. So he
- 33:49enters. I did not like this next bit here of Homer just and co
- 33:51just mocking Burns. I'm like, what is happening here? You know?
- 33:53And it's one of those gags that just goes on a bit too long.
- 33:58Yeah, you know, it thinks that it's being smarter than it is by
- 34:01you know, Homers dancing like a jerk forever, and it's like, oh,
- 34:06yeah, he's gonna look like a jerk later when he does that.
- 34:07It's like, I get what you mean. But this was just poorly executed.
- 34:13It's a good idea at a bit idea, let's poorly executed at five
- 34:16fifteen an hour. It would take an eternity to make my fortune back,
- 34:21and Faker wasn't helping do. But then, for once in my life,
- 34:25things went my way. I steamed a little open with Moo's cappuccino machine.
- 34:37If you're reading this, I am dead and you are about to learn the
- 34:39story of my treasure. Treasure treasure who has a cappuccino machine. We come
- 34:47back and margin Bart. They couldn't find a way out, but Bart ruined
- 34:51some cave paintings. One of the lines he wrote was I want to have
- 34:52your calf, but at least I wants to have it keep with it whatever
- 34:59anyway. That tells people like the type of gross joke that you would make
- 35:04at the expense of a little sister. Though it's such a random although not
- 35:07at this age when you take into account the set up here like where where
- 35:10they are, the situation you could have had this anywhere. It's such a
- 35:15random set up for them or to be in this cave. But don't you
- 35:17think, like there's no need the cave itself. The any pay off it
- 35:21is that Marge throws the gold down the hole at the end. But yeah,
- 35:23it's like it just seems like such an odd situation for the family to
- 35:28have found themselves in to tell this story, Well, I've got to be
- 35:30somewhere where, you know, they can't get out. Find an easier reason
- 35:34for Lisa to tell a story without episodes of people tell the stories in the
- 35:37past was from the living rooms, So what do they need to be tracked
- 35:38in a cave? I don't know, doesn't animated the living room. It's
- 35:43like, think, let's give the animals a little thung. But he's he's
- 35:45heading to the supply store to buy some euro cake mix. He gets hit
- 35:49by the bus. Missus k gets off the bus and she the rack of
- 35:52an angel. She talks about how her X was a drunk. She hates
- 35:54all the bars and saloons and taverns. So he obviously lies because he wants
- 35:59a piece of her. So he says that he's a therapist for alcoholics,
- 36:01So he says, he get rid of all the garbage my friends otherwise knows
- 36:05my best friend, so he throws them all out in this week. Get
- 36:07the Moo Barney means so awesome. Then they're having a great summer missus Ka
- 36:12and Moo. They're loving each other and the loving life. And she says
- 36:15she's gonna be teaching fourth grade. The other question I have for this episode
- 36:17was that the timeline of things right, So missus k apparently arrives at Springfield
- 36:22when Bart's already in fourth grade. I must confess that did sort of take
- 36:29my brain and give it a little bit of a Chinese burn. Yeah,
- 36:31it's like, what's going on there? What am I turning in the dando
- 36:37worrying about timelines? It just felt because as they're driving off here you see
- 36:42Martin and Nelson playing with each other, and I was like, wait,
- 36:44so the kids at the normal age missus Kay is like really young, they're
- 36:49playing with each other. Didn't playing it again? Time to kinde shut up?
- 36:52Shut up and like track lightning, Well, one of them's having fun.
- 36:58The guys that approach Mo they can find him because you know, they
- 37:00want their drink. They feel sober because he's not helping him get drunk,
- 37:05and he said, I'm going to out the one of you that is gay,
- 37:07And yeah, that just feels like again a zinger with no foundation in
- 37:15Springfieldian reality. No, it's more like I mean that it's it's a really
- 37:20sort of old zinger. That kind of one was like, yeah, I've
- 37:23told all the girls here one of you was gay. Have fun guessing which
- 37:27one it's like or whatever. It's like, that's a bit kind of hackish.
- 37:32Mo. He wanted to get out of Springfield, but he needed money.
- 37:37So this is where Snake fortunately arrives. But he's not Snake yet is.
- 37:40He is Professor jail Bird, as we will soon find out. And
- 37:44he's an archaeologist who has got to He's found some money from gold. He
- 37:46wants to donate it to the Natural History Museum in Springfield, but Most says
- 37:52he can't do that because they're closed. So he said, you'll do it
- 37:52tomorrow. You'll stay at night at the mo View Hotel across the road.
- 37:57Most is, I wonder what to do, so I decide to do the
- 38:00right thing, and he robs him. I've been robbed. I'll take my
- 38:04revenge on society by which I'm in convenience stores and who would suspect me Professor
- 38:10Jailbird. Whilst I get what they're going forward, this line just felt very
- 38:14unnatural. I'm gonna take my revenge out of society aka convenience stores, and
- 38:20I am Professor Jailbird. I'm okay, this shows what a Hackey would be
- 38:23writer I am, but I mean professor Jailbird is just like two obvious.
- 38:28Why not just have him like initials j L Bird. Oh yeah, and
- 38:31they've done that kind of gay before, but that makes far more sense.
- 38:35It's far more creative than I'm Professor Jailbird. I'm just felt like, again,
- 38:40how many times do you feel like they just run out of time?
- 38:43They're like home time quick throws up, men, let's move on. They
- 38:46do. There's the sports World of thing. You've seen that thing where he
- 38:51talks about Yeah, I just do a really shit first draft full of placeholder
- 38:54gags like this happened, then this and the like yeah, but but then
- 39:01I get to rewrite, which is fun. Yeah. I got rid of
- 39:04the hard bit writing, which sucks, but I got to do rewriting,
- 39:07which is fun. And now the elves came in. It feels a lot
- 39:12the rewrites though, have just got out the window, doesn't it in a
- 39:14lot of the cases. Yeah, that's that's when I'm that was a little
- 39:17bit of a mind blower along the lines of therefore all but yeah, just
- 39:22a really shit first rout. Well, I mean, that's like writing what
- 39:25I want. It's just like, yeah, get it all on the page,
- 39:27and then you know, chip away the stuff that doesn't worry, build
- 39:30the skeleton, and then and then Fanessa Yeah, yeah, then had the
- 39:34flesh, Yes exactly. But Edna, she says she has to tell the
- 39:37school that she's not going to be teaching now. And she enters here and
- 39:40as Mo says, fate plays a little game up yours Mo because she has
- 39:45seen Bart and she or he's this is the thing. I thought this is
- 39:51going to be. I thought this was a callback to Bart gets an f
- 39:53where he thinks's going to fail the fourth grade and missus k Helpson get through
- 39:55it right. But no, he was just lying to distract her. So
- 40:00I know, I'm just like, it makes you feel even sad if he's
- 40:02k It's like her whole her idea of what MO was was a lie.
- 40:07And everything's based on all things based on a lie, like I mean to
- 40:09Springfield just destroyed her. Yeah, there's a bit we you know where where
- 40:14Barton Edna and talking. He says, I bet I won't even make it
- 40:16through fourth grade. So I'm assuming that he's in third grade at this stage,
- 40:21or you know, fourth grade is the year that's coming up. But
- 40:23we won't even through the fourth grade. I think he's meant to be in
- 40:25the fourth grade now, I think. But this is summer, right,
- 40:29so I guess I think it's the start of the year that's coming up.
- 40:30Yeah, so it's before he starts. So she's meant to his fourth grade
- 40:34teacher from the start. Okay, yep, I see what you're saying.
- 40:35Yeah, yeah, but even then, it's not really a whole lot of
- 40:37time. No, no, it still doesn't work. It doesn't make sense.
- 40:42Now, best to make it work. It doesn't make sense for what
- 40:45you're going to do. We've bent space and time for you, Simpsons,
- 40:47but no, we couldn't do it. Marge calls out that you you know,
- 40:51you never had to tension all the way through summer. He says,
- 40:52you're just distracting the way it distracting missus case who Neilson is still the microscopes,
- 40:57and then she tells Mo that she hasn't coming. He goes absolutely mental,
- 41:01and he goes and gets drug and Drownsy sorrows away by putting all the
- 41:05money or the gold in the jukebox, and mister Burns raised this and so
- 41:07you pull man, You're about to get a lot poorer. So he then
- 41:10trades all that gold with the text and I was like, this gold's really
- 41:14worth more than mister Burns ohs owns, I should say, like it's worth
- 41:19more than a nuclear power plant. I'm not too sure about this, but
- 41:22anyway, he agrees to swap it back, and he says, the only
- 41:25way I'm going to do that, though, is if you give me the
- 41:28photo of you with a smiling child. And then we get the obsessive compulsive
- 41:31gag, which as a kid, I remember that was hysterical for me,
- 41:36but here I was just like whatever, possibly in sense, they've definitely unfunny.
- 41:45We come back from commercial and the ram gets into the attic and then
- 41:49mister Burns just like risks his life a leasa and I'm like, what the
- 41:51folks going up? Mist that Burns would never do this. Don't take me,
- 41:54I'm old, like, take me this baronil thistle, spare this sweet
- 41:59young hour And I was like, no, that's not going to happen.
- 42:00But anyway, he hits mister Burns, knocks him to the to the wall,
- 42:05gives Lisa the pearl necklace, which that sounds pretty bad. But then
- 42:08she asked, how did you find it? She asked how you how you
- 42:12found this? And then it starts telling the story. I'm like, whatever,
- 42:16Lisa was Lisa, why was her necklace on a tree? How did
- 42:22her necklace come off and then go into a tree? So like a necklace
- 42:25is just randomly fall off and land on a bush, Like you have to
- 42:28unclear a lot of holes, a lot of a lot of holes in this
- 42:34particular road. That Burns sacrificed his gorgeous body for nothing. I guess this
- 42:37is what means when you're having a baby. And Lisa says she wants a
- 42:40photo with him, and he finally gets that photo that he needs. Meanwhile,
- 42:45bats now chewing Homer's leg for whatever reason, because the bats playing no
- 42:47story, no play, don't play to the story at all. Homer falls
- 42:51out and Homer reveals that he brought them all here to find the coins,
- 42:54and then like, I can't believe you would do something like this, And
- 42:58I was like, well, we didn't fall down the hole with but that
- 43:00really have been such a bad like a bad thing. He brought you to
- 43:02a really nice family nature walk to to potentially find some treasure. That sounds
- 43:06like a good fucking family day out if you ask me, a family bonding
- 43:09exactly. Yeah. But Over then tells his story that he was hiding in
- 43:13the forest because you're supposed to watch Maggie's home. Is a terrible father,
- 43:15now everybody, just in case you went away. He hates looking after his
- 43:20kids. He hates his children, just so you weren't aware. He's a
- 43:22terrible person. And because he was hiding in the forest, he oversaw the
- 43:27text in hiding the gold in the cave because he wanted to avoid paying taxes.
- 43:30And then Homer says, we need that money because for Bart's operation.
- 43:32But that's a story for another episode. Apparently the rich text and then randomly
- 43:37arrives in the cave, and then mister Burns and Mo randomly arrive not so
- 43:42fast. Cheety Burt Johnson I'll take that gold. Yeah, you'll take it
- 43:46and then you'll give it to me if you know what's good for you.
- 43:50You guys have guns, well, so do iyo. Coolest entrance gets the
- 44:00goal? Um is it okay that I brought my son? This is my
- 44:06day with him, Jeremy, there's a boy over there you can play with.
- 44:09Do you like xbox? The do you like Xbox? Line? Got
- 44:14me as well, So I'm like, that's just kind of like when you're
- 44:15a kid. He's met in a kid You're like, so do you like
- 44:17stuff? What was your goal to when you're a kid, like making a
- 44:22new friend? Mom was always like do you like football? Feel I feel
- 44:24like football? Was like if we both like football, will get along.
- 44:28We can at least bond over that football or Star Wars Star Wars okay yeah
- 44:34yeah? Or um, you're told a dirty joke even when you were like
- 44:38six, the dirty Oh yeah. I mean I don't want your idea of
- 44:43a dirty jokers when you're six, But something's a bit salty, a bit
- 44:45right baal rybal Yes, Then we get a Mexican standoff. Homers two pay
- 44:50comes off because you got the Tupai with the with the fake hair earlier in
- 44:52the episode, make it pretends to have a gun, a little callback to
- 44:55who shot mister Burns. Then Marge threatens to drop the gold's let bring back
- 45:00Edna's love. It could definitely, that's like, that's actually because it's totally
- 45:05could if someone offered the gold. I think she would come back to him.
- 45:07I love that mister Burns isn't important more, and you got a child
- 45:10to smile at you. No one'd rather have the goal. I would.
- 45:13I'd very much rather have the gold. And I was like, yeah,
- 45:14I can kind of relate to this. She throws it down the hole.
- 45:16They all thank her because now don't have to worry about trying to fight over
- 45:20it. They say, they're all going to the youth Center and Shelbyville for
- 45:22fucking whatever reason. And mister Burns meanwhile still climbing down the hole to try
- 45:25and find the treasure, but then tells the story to Skinner, so it's
- 45:30like another story within a story within a story within the story. It's sort
- 45:34of very convolute him, but he's telling the story to Skinner, and the
- 45:36Skinner doesn't believe it. And it looks at the window and sees Edna kissing
- 45:38Moe and she says, oh I want At this point is a man with
- 45:42a healthy libido, which he apparently doesn't have it, and the RIGI where
- 45:45he gets awkward. Then the rich Texan is talking over the credits with his
- 45:49compulsive disorder, and that's the end. So, as we said, no
- 45:52logic, but you know, plenty of enough fun in this episode for me
- 45:54to give her the thumbs up. There's I said a lot of holes in
- 45:58this particular road about the vehicle itself sort of move fast enough and had decent
- 46:01enough suspension that you weren't going to go or anything like that. If I'm
- 46:07just watching this episode, I'm not thinking about all this stuff. I'm just
- 46:09enjoying it. When I'm having to take notes and review it, that's what
- 46:12I overthink things, and I'm like, this doesn't make sense, and this
- 46:15doesn't make sense, which is why what I tend to do now is watch
- 46:16the episode first, see how I enjoy it, just absorbing it as a
- 46:21twenty two minute piece of television, and then I start taking notes because if
- 46:23I'm taking notes the whole time, it kills the flow of the episode because
- 46:27I'm constantly pushing pause and things like that. So that's why I try to
- 46:30get my perspective as a viewer first and then as a reviewer, And the
- 46:32reviewer is usually a lot more harsher than a viewer. Correct. So what
- 46:37do we learn, Bomber? So what do you learn from the episode?
- 46:39Mister Davis? That I should really just shut up? I'm a track lightning.
- 46:45Yeah, that sounds like a good plan to me. I learned that
- 46:46never go for the till go for the jukebox A good move, a smart
- 46:51move. Forward, your name droll me. Okay, and mister Davis,
- 46:55we're here to do the new names for the seemingly never ending story. The
- 46:59current leader board stands at this In first position, we have our man,
- 47:01Luke McKay, five points clear of second position, which is Heath Appleby.
- 47:05And in third position we have a four way tie. We've got Garrod,
- 47:07Harry Hill, Kyle Muldoon, Clever Kyle, focused chefs, and Adam Woolhouse
- 47:13or on these six points. So him, what do we have this week,
- 47:15mister Davis for the new names? Okay, let's keep it short and
- 47:19sweet. One point goes to simception. Simception, Oh, very very good.
- 47:24Indeed, that goes to Mark Boston Burgess, Boston Boston. Indeed,
- 47:30yeah, nice one made okay two points four a series of anik dope.
- 47:38They got in there with the doves. They do love their dotes, and
- 47:40so do you. David Mott. He is a very smart man when it
- 47:43comes to that, you know, maybe clever David, So David. That
- 47:49puts David now on seven points, which I believe has him been around about
- 47:52second or third position. But I'm anyway, can keep going. What do
- 47:53we have for three points and the third well not the third, not not
- 47:59third, let's first place with three points? Yeah, yeah, not at
- 48:01all confusing. That goes to stuck Caven Dad, Oh oh, you won't
- 48:08believe it. It's Clever Kyle living up to the name. Yes, buddy,
- 48:15So okay. Leaderboard now, so they've gotten a little bit closer to
- 48:17Luke mckayl McKay didn't get any points this week, so still in first is
- 48:22Luke McKay on twelve. Clever Kyle is now in second position on nine points,
- 48:25and in third position. We have a two a tie with Heath Appleby
- 48:30and one David Mott and that one point from Mark Boston Burgess gotty much the
- 48:34three points as well, So he's slowly climbing that leaderboard. So thank you
- 48:36guys for sending in your new names for similar the editing story. It's now
- 48:39time Stavis, that we answer some mail bag questions. Mailbagail Debail is here.
- 48:47Okay. The first question here for the mail bag is from Andrew JP.
- 48:52And Andrew says, what's your favorite meta slash self referential TV show or
- 48:55movie? Did Bill and Ted said? Bill and Ted was just whacky?
- 48:59They didn't reference it stuff? Did it? No? M community used to
- 49:01do it a lot. Well, yeah, um, I guess the one
- 49:07that sort of did it for me back in the day. Um, there's
- 49:09a show that I referenced a lot that I really dig Moonlighting back in the
- 49:14eighties. Shepherd. Yeah, they broke the fourth wall all the time,
- 49:17and they they regularly acknowledged that they were on a TV show. Wow,
- 49:22I did not know that. Yeah, And you know, played around with
- 49:25the form all the time, and you know, they were always because the
- 49:30show was, you know, it had really dense scripts. It was always
- 49:34sort of overwritten and scripted often come in late, and so they and they
- 49:38tended to acknowledge on the show. It's like oh, well, you know
- 49:42in search joke here because we didn't have toime to write a joke stuff like
- 49:44that. So you know, as a teenager watching that, it was like,
- 49:46Wow, that Bruce Willis is super cool. Help but make him one
- 49:50day and the next thing was these guys are really fucking around with the format.
- 49:54That's interesting. So yeah, that's probably my my favorite. Yeah,
- 49:59that is very I'm gonna have to check out Moonlightly sometime because you always go
- 50:01on about it and it's a show that you don't see anywhere, Like it's
- 50:06not it's getting reruns anywhere or anything like that. But I mean, it's
- 50:07got Bruce Willis and his early days. It's got to be good, right.
- 50:10Apparently Disney Plus has um picked up the rights to stream it now when
- 50:15they're actually I'll do that, I'm not sure that. I don't think so.
- 50:20No, but a while back, let's check it, okay, but
- 50:24if whilst you're talking, I'll check it. Continue if you google Moonlight slash
- 50:29Disney Plus or Hulu or something like that. They then because there was announcement
- 50:34like a few months back from the creator of the show. It's like I've
- 50:37got something to reveal, and everyone's like what reboot or and then the newspaper
- 50:43as well was coming out was like, no, reboot not happening for sad
- 50:49reasons. Obviously, we shouldn't be laughing for sad reasons. We're not,
- 50:51yeah, not making fun, that's for sure. We're certainly not making fun
- 50:54of my man Bruno. But then it was like, yeah, we're remastering
- 50:59him and putting them up on streaming. So and I'm pretty sure it was
- 51:02Disney Plants that was going to be doing it. But it's complicated because Disney
- 51:07Plus is different all over the world, certainly in the States, because I
- 51:09mean they've got Disney Plus, which is just Disney stuff, but they've got
- 51:13I've got Hulu, which is like, yeah, the adult version of Disney
- 51:15Plus, which is Disney Plus here in Australia. Looking at He's not on
- 51:19Disney Plus in Australia yet anyway, but you're right, that's one. They've
- 51:21got things like um like the New Future Arms coming straight to Hulu. Yeah,
- 51:25yeah in the States, but we'll obviously get on Disney Plus here.
- 51:29Yeah, but that's that's my that's my choice, all right, Yeah,
- 51:31it's my selection. Next question, Ben lyons, what's the best treasure either
- 51:35of you have found outdoors or exploring a city you hadn't been to before.
- 51:38Oh, this is interesting to find treasure too, Like what's a hidney jam?
- 51:42We should say, like what's hidden gem you've found when you've been to
- 51:45a city and you're like, oh, I didn't. We went to m
- 51:46du Buy as part of our honeymoon on the way back and there was this
- 51:50all you can eat places just by the main sort of like little port area,
- 51:54and it was a photo. We've got a photo of it in our
- 51:57We've got like a selfie like a collage in our in our bedroom now our
- 52:00honeymoon, so I've got them. I'm holding up the menu. So I
- 52:02actually looked this place up. I should go and do it because it was
- 52:05honestly some of the most delicious fit I've ever had in my life. It
- 52:07was incredible in Dubai Dubai all you can eat, It's amazing. I'm glad
- 52:12that that worked out well for you, because I'll tell your story. The
- 52:15other night or the other weekend. The Lovely Louis and I were up in
- 52:19Melbourne at the party on Saturday night and then we went to the concert on
- 52:22Sunday night, and we hadn't eaten before the concert, so we got out
- 52:25about term thirty and we were just starving and we were dropping loose some back
- 52:30at back at university, back at his college where he was staying. It
- 52:34was like, oh, we gotta get some to eat first. So we
- 52:35went to lig on Stream. I think it's the food Mecher of Melbourne.
- 52:38Of course, something you want to eat there. Yeah, yeah, there
- 52:40was barely anything, but ended up going to this like middle Eastern restaurant.
- 52:45We thought we'll have a kebab, there'd be some sort of chicken on a
- 52:49stick. It was just the I'm not going to name name that. It
- 52:52was just the shabbiest place. The servers was so surly, and we're like,
- 52:57we're just so hungry, we'll take whatever. Um. We got these
- 53:00kebabs that were fine, But yeah, I mean, there's nothing like finding
- 53:07a great kebab joint. And it sounds like that you found a great food
- 53:08you joined when you're thinking of treasure. I mean, the first thing that
- 53:14came to mind was once I was at a music festival and you know,
- 53:17it was muddy and rainy and all this kind of stuff. I looked down,
- 53:20and so what's that bright thing on the floor? There? Is it
- 53:23the leaf? It's a fifty dollar note. I think you may have told
- 53:28us this story before you that's like, I mean, obviously finding a hundreds
- 53:30even better, but like finding a fifty, it's like you feel like you
- 53:32hit the jackpot. From over there. You're like, I'm actually rich.
- 53:36Yeah, I mean, what's the most you ever sort of find on the
- 53:38ground. You mean you might see like a coin. Have you see a
- 53:42gold coin? You're like, score, yeah, yeah, yeah, what's
- 53:44the least? To me? The least is like I'll pick up a fifty
- 53:46it's twenty or less. I'm like, ask some other guy. I can
- 53:49find it. But I never forget when I was a kid. I've definitely
- 53:51told this story before. I'm pretty sure. But we're at the Sunday Market
- 53:53in Balmont here in Geelong, and I was going to put my wrapper of
- 53:55something in the bin. I was in the bin and someone that dropped fifty
- 53:58bucks just in the bin. I was like, I would have been ten
- 54:00or round it at the time. I still remember it though, just outside
- 54:02the now. How would you go to the market there, You've got the
- 54:05basketball arena and you can go inside. It was just at the doorway there
- 54:07and I'm looking at and going moment has for fifty dollars and my mum beam,
- 54:10my mum. She was like, well, make sure you're handed in
- 54:13so in case someone's lost it. I'm like, okay, man, man,
- 54:15okay. I really went to bag. I was actually figured it with
- 54:17the hand, so we turned into garment. Yeah, yeah he can,
- 54:22man. So I got to hand it to him to the security guard and
- 54:25he goes, you can just keep it. I was like, awesome,
- 54:30said mummy. He's like, an keep it, and she goes, are
- 54:32you sure, and she looked at the guy and I poisoned at him.
- 54:35He sort of gave her the nod, and I was like, yes,
- 54:37what a man. Some poor kids, some poor persons lost their fifty dollars.
- 54:40But the security guys like, mate, you just have it. Just
- 54:43let's go a lord. And then just just I don't forget Mum looking over
- 54:46at him, him just going it's all good. I got you. You've
- 54:52just got faith in the adult world. That's you're starting to think maybe to
- 54:58just have to screw me over. And I was like, we'll do this
- 55:00kid as solid. Yeah, it was it was a very great day.
- 55:02All right, A couple more questions than we'll wrap this one up. So,
- 55:07Andrew Swan, what's your favorite movie that starts at the end and then
- 55:09goes back and retails the crazy eventu that led them to that point. Oh
- 55:15well, let's let's say pulp fiction out of the equation that's sort of all
- 55:17over the shop. It's sort of beginning, it's that sort of ending,
- 55:20goes back, but it's all over the shop. But a movie that sort
- 55:22of goes back and retails. Ah, I like the Soundlot Kids. The
- 55:24soundlot does that? Oh yeah, we did that on the movie Guys a
- 55:29few months ago. I was just trying to think of any that comes to
- 55:31my mind. What does mister Hollins opens to that I don't recall? Actually,
- 55:37Titanic does that? Titanic is a big one. It does it doesn't,
- 55:40Yeah, it doesn't. It doesn't. It's not like it's retail that
- 55:44the events that happened immediately before the start of the movie, but it's still
- 55:46telling previous events of it. How the old woman got the gem. Yeah,
- 55:50yeah, this is a tough one. Oh, I wish they're Titanic
- 55:53and um and the Soundlot of the first two that comes to my mind for
- 55:57whatever reason. Yeah, oh man, I'm going to think about this,
- 56:01mister Swan. I may have to talk to you in the patron chat yeah,
- 56:06and on the discord or find you on the on the Facebook group and
- 56:09let you know. But yeah, oh, I feel like I right,
- 56:12chump, Nothing springing to mind at the moment, but I'm sure there are
- 56:14really good ones, he said, not quite at the end, but he
- 56:16likes how Deadpool starts about midway and then backtracks to see how he got into
- 56:20that situation. Mike Boston burges, do you think a prequel episode of Snake
- 56:24being an Indiana Jones type character would work? Also? I wrote it that
- 56:29he's called Snake in Indiana it hates snakes. Ah. Well, first of
- 56:32all, well well noted, well pointed out. I don't know. In
- 56:37all, it was such an odd, an odd character beat, wasn't it
- 56:39to see Snake being a good guy like this? I mean, I liked
- 56:42it, but it was just I don't know whether I want permanent Snake like
- 56:45this. But we're big on prequels now, aren't we. So the idea
- 56:47of a prequel just sort of tantalizes everyone's thoughts. But it really does,
- 56:51doesn't it. Which you know, I don't think I'm all that mad on.
- 56:53I don't think he's just he's a he's a a thief, you know.
- 56:59I don't want to know too much about good guy Snake. It was
- 57:01nice that we saw him how he became a good guy, but I don't
- 57:05I don't want too much of that, you know, No, No,
- 57:07I mean, I think the best prequel there ever was was really just the
- 57:09start of Indiana Jones on The Last Crusade, where you've got that ten twenty
- 57:13minute bit at the start where River Phoenix is playing young Indie, and you'll
- 57:16learn how we got the hat, how are you why he's afraid of snakes?
- 57:20Hey, we got the scar on his chin. You'll learn how he
- 57:22becomes good with the whip. It's like that's all I needed. I don't
- 57:25need to know anymore. It's not like Batman, we always get the whole
- 57:30how his parents died. I think I think there's a moratorium on that from
- 57:34now. And I think everyone, I think any filmmaker is saying, we're
- 57:37not doing Martha Wayne's Pels. Forget it. No one's like gonna make a
- 57:40whole film about him becoming Batman. Everyone's like, oh no, it was
- 57:45a good movie. But anyway, one more question. Let's get one more
- 57:46question. Actually it's two more here, mel life. I want to say
- 57:51that they say love this episode, the bit about Smithers out getting a tan.
- 57:54Do you think this is the Simpsons trying to explain Smithers on Homer's Odyssey.
- 57:58I've read somewhere that that was the inten Oh if it is, then
- 58:00I don't know that that's where you get Blacksmith is by the way in Homer's
- 58:02Odyssey. Oh okay, I don't. I don't think so. Oh yeah,
- 58:07that's that's one of those things where it's like ed happened. We all
- 58:12know why it happened. It was just a mistake. Let's just move on.
- 58:15But I get what they're trying to say the Hommer I see, I
- 58:17don't hear these person said they read somewhere that that was the intention, But
- 58:21I find it very hard to believe. It seems like a big stretch.
- 58:24YEP, Stretching is good. We recommend everybody do it. Lou and I
- 58:31are always saying to one another because it's been a very complicated a couple of
- 58:37weeks in the Davis households. Early both my mum and my sister, my
- 58:42elder sister, took tumbles. Give mum as well. Yeah yeah, mum
- 58:46shit some chords in the living room and land on the coffee table and mucked
- 58:51up her ribs. But we never told you this. Oh this just happened
- 58:55like two days ago. Still we've spoken in that time. I know,
- 59:00I know you have to tell me all your personal affairs, but that's like
- 59:02you tell me about your sister. I mean, you've been looking after your
- 59:04sister, but your mom Margaret Mary. And she said, now I'm looking
- 59:07after Margaret Mary's mascot of this show. But here's the thing. Well,
- 59:13she took a tumble, but she went in. She got X rayed,
- 59:15no crack ribs, no internal bleeding. Plus I did some blood work.
- 59:19Ninety three year old Margaret Mary's got the blood work of like a twenty five
- 59:22year old Holy shit, kicking goals. Indeed, So you know, hopefully
- 59:27genetics will be on my side despite all my efforts to you know, just
- 59:30sucking up by continue eating cheese bokes. Sorry, guys. Another forty years
- 59:35of Guy David's podcast Buckle up folks. Yeah, but also my sister Joe
- 59:40took a tumble as well. Now Joe's coming into look after mom because Joe's
- 59:45recovered so well, don't tag her in. Yeah indeed, so there's that.
- 59:49Um And why was it an eventful week? Why was I going to
- 59:52talk about it? Because you're talking about stretching. Oh yeah, so Lo
- 59:57and I are like, I think we stretch more. I think we should
- 1:00:00be like limber in our old age, so we're not sort of using walkers.
- 1:00:04Although yeah, I noticed for me when I was like playing down the
- 1:00:07hallway of the kids, like I'm all fours, like playing with cars and
- 1:00:09stuff, and I struggle to get up. But I'm like, you're thirty
- 1:00:12four mates, sort yourself out. Oh just the orchestra of sound, yeah,
- 1:00:16that you make when you have to give up, when you have to
- 1:00:21prepared to push up. Yeah, you're sort of braces. All right.
- 1:00:28Here's a task final question here focused Jeff's if you stumbled across the gold,
- 1:00:32would you take it? I've talked about the fifty fifty years gold. It's
- 1:00:36a gold note, doesn't it fifty? It's pineapples. Sort of goal is,
- 1:00:40if you found gold, would you take it. I would make sure
- 1:00:45that no one is around. I would maybe hang around for about another half
- 1:00:50an hour. If no one's claimed that ship, then it is mine.
- 1:00:52I agree, Like, what's your what's your time? What's your time for
- 1:00:55a waiting to see if someone's coming to claim something? Or would you say
- 1:00:59half an hour? Is that enough? If? I don't know, Like
- 1:01:01it depends what it is, I guess, but you know, if have
- 1:01:04you ever come back to claim something like golden in half an hour? And
- 1:01:07then it's fucking it's fair game, surely, I think. So, Yeah,
- 1:01:10you're being quite You're stretching it out a bit. I'm more like ten
- 1:01:14minutes maybe than five. I've spent that ship within ten minutes. All right,
