- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn Danish with Fexingo? Luna: Yeah, I'm excited. Last time we did ordinal numbers first to fourth — første, anden, tredje, fjerde. That was good. Lucas: Exactly. And today we're going to continue with the next four: femte, sjette, syvende, ottende. That's fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth. Luna: Okay, so femte is fifth, like the number fem. That's easy. Lucas: Right. femte. Let me say it slowly: fem-te. Now normal speed: femte. Luna: femte. Lucas: Perfect. Next: sjette. That's sixth. It comes from seks, but it changes a bit. Luna: Sjette. That's tricky. sjette. Lucas: You've got it. sjette. Now syvende — seventh. Luna: syvende. From syv. syvende. Lucas: Yes. And the last one: ottende — eighth. Luna: ottende. That's from otte. ottende. Lucas: Great. Let's do them together. femte, sjette, syvende, ottende. Luna: femte, sjette, syvende, ottende. Lucas: Now let's put them in a little scene. Imagine you're in line at the bakery. You're the fifth person. Luna: So I'd say 'Jeg er den femte'? Lucas: Exactly. Jeg er den femte i køen. I am the fifth in line. Luna: Jeg er den femte i køen. Lucas: And after two people leave, you become the third. So you'd say 'Jeg er den tredje'. Luna: Right, from last episode. Okay. Lucas: Now what if your friend arrives and is the sixth? 'Min ven er den sjette'. Luna: Min ven er den sjette. Lucas: And then the seventh person is called: 'Den syvende person'. Luna: Den syvende person. Lucas: Finally, the eighth: 'Den ottende person'. Luna: Den ottende person. So all together: femte, sjette, syvende, ottende. Lucas: You've got them. Let's practice with a quick round. I'll say a number, you say the ordinal. Luna: Okay. Lucas: Fem. Luna: femte. Lucas: Seks. Luna: sjette. Lucas: Syv. Luna: syvende. Lucas: Otte. Luna: ottende. Lucas: You did it. That was really good. Luna: Thanks. These are useful.
