- 1:09Speaker 2: of postgame coverage live from Tom's watch bar right across
- 1:13Speaker 2: from Climate Pledge Arena, we're gonna hear from Ian Furness
- 1:16Speaker 2: and just a bit of course TV host on the
- 1:18Speaker 2: KRACK and Hockey Network. Additionally, dive deeper into the Kraken
- 1:23Speaker 2: and their loss two nights ago against Minnesota, which features
- 1:28Speaker 2: some pretty pointed comments from the Kraken side, and we'll
- 1:31Speaker 2: dive into the meaning and much more with the Inverness
- 1:35Speaker 2: coming up in just a bit. The Krack of making
- 1:38Speaker 2: one move ahead of the game, Ben Myers was recalled
- 1:41Speaker 2: from AHL Coachella Valley, a five foot eleven center with
- 1:45Speaker 2: plenty of tenacity. Currently in his second year within the
- 1:48Speaker 2: Kraken organization, He's got three assists so far in nine
- 1:51Speaker 2: games thirteen points in just eleven games with Coachella Valley.
- 1:56Speaker 2: That move made necessary after Berkeley Catton was placed on IR.
- 2:00Speaker 2: He is week to week with an upper body injury
- 2:03Speaker 2: after blocking a shot last Saturday against Detroit. Well, the Kraken,
- 2:08Speaker 2: dropping a lost in Minnesota four won the final, but
- 2:11Speaker 2: don't let that full you as far as the goaltending
- 2:14Speaker 2: picture in that game. Philip Grubauer was absolutely phenomenal, turning
- 2:18Speaker 2: in several high danger saves in the first nineteen shots
- 2:22Speaker 2: he saw through two periods of play, but the krack
- 2:25Speaker 2: And only able to manage just one goal, coming in
- 2:27Speaker 2: the power play courtesy Jordan Everley back in period two
- 2:31Speaker 2: and Grubauer falling to Philip Gustavsen down the other side
- 2:35Speaker 2: after Minnesota blew open a two to one lead late
- 2:38Speaker 2: in the game on a pair of back to back
- 2:40Speaker 2: empty ned goals by Carill Caprisov and Vladimir tara Senko.
- 2:45Speaker 2: We're gonna get to some comments after the game with
- 2:46Speaker 2: Igan Fornessen just a bit, but before that, the Krakend
- 2:50Speaker 2: catching back up at practice on Tuesday at Krackend Community
- 2:54Speaker 2: ice Plex, and here are more updates from krack and
- 2:57Speaker 2: head coach Lane Lambert.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Today's an end mean day. Today's a practice day. You know,
- 3:02Speaker 3: Tomorrow morning we'll probably give some guys some some rest.
- 3:06Speaker 3: They've got, you know, thirty six hours or so here
- 3:10Speaker 3: to prepare for tomorrow night. So you know, it's just
- 3:14Speaker 3: like I say, it's a balancing act of what what
- 3:17Speaker 3: the work ratio is, what we need to work on
- 3:19Speaker 3: and how much rest we need so, you know, I
- 3:21Speaker 3: mean obviously through the next two months till the end
- 3:23Speaker 3: of January, you know, till the Olympic break. It's a
- 3:27Speaker 3: challenge and it's a challenge for every team in the league.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Uh notice mechanicals out there once a status.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yeah, he's maintenance day, he should be. Okay, it's a
- 3:35Speaker 3: kind of conversation here for a little while.
- 3:36Speaker 5: Now.
- 3:37Speaker 1: If the defenseman impressed you adopted practice and shootout drugs,
- 3:41Speaker 1: would you from out there?
- 3:43Speaker 3: Oh? Yeah, yeah, there's no question. You know, we're you know,
- 3:46Speaker 3: I mean, at the end of the day shootouts. We've
- 3:49Speaker 3: been in three, you know, and we have guys that
- 3:54Speaker 3: have gone that have good overall career numbers, you know,
- 3:58Speaker 3: and sometimes you know, sometimes they score, sometimes they don't.
- 4:03Speaker 3: But certainly, you know, we've seen a couple of defensemen
- 4:07Speaker 3: here that have done pretty well when we practice shootouts.
- 4:10Speaker 2: It's one of them Adam Wars that managing.
- 4:14Speaker 4: They're all.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Let's put it this way, anyone's in option. Anyone's in option.
- 4:18Speaker 3: I was involved in a twenty round shootout when I
- 4:20Speaker 3: was coaching in Washington back and I think it was
- 4:23Speaker 3: probably two thousand and seventeen, maybe longest shootout in NHL history.
- 4:30Speaker 3: So everybody's got to be on alert good enough when
- 4:34Speaker 3: the team's going through a skid like this. From your
- 4:36Speaker 3: experience as a player, also as a coach, what does
- 4:39Speaker 3: it kind of take from the guys in that room
- 4:42Speaker 3: to be able to turn the page?
- 4:43Speaker 2: What kind of mass they happen?
- 4:45Speaker 3: They got to get together, you know, stick together, you know,
- 4:49Speaker 3: and determination. You know, the league is a difficult league.
- 4:55Speaker 3: It's a ruthless league. As I said last night, nobody cares.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Everybody's coming into to beat you, you know. But at
- 5:06Speaker 3: the same time, you know, if you look at it
- 5:09Speaker 3: two weeks ago, you know, we were one point out
- 5:12Speaker 3: of first place heading into a home game against Dallas,
- 5:15Speaker 3: which we played very well in and probably could have won.
- 5:19Speaker 3: And you know, now where we're sitting that's changed fast.
- 5:25Speaker 3: But as fast as it changes in one direction, it
- 5:27Speaker 3: can change in the other direction. And that's got to
- 5:30Speaker 3: be our focus right now.
- 5:32Speaker 5: Mentioning that determination and making even positive last night as well,
- 5:35Speaker 5: how do you go about that as a coach?
- 5:38Speaker 3: And is it all verbal or you know how you well,
- 5:40Speaker 3: there's there's verbal stuff, there's you know, film stuff. You know,
- 5:44Speaker 3: there's drills in practice, to continue to try and emphasize,
- 5:48Speaker 3: you know, what we need to work on, what we
- 5:50Speaker 3: need to develop. We're you know, we're a young team
- 5:53Speaker 3: that needs to develop our players on the fly here
- 5:56Speaker 3: as well. So, uh, you know, it's very important that
- 5:58Speaker 3: we keep a positive mind set.
- 6:00Speaker 5: And you said you didn't mind how you know Shameewright's
- 6:03Speaker 5: line played last night out for Yanni in particular, what
- 6:06Speaker 5: do you kind of note from him, you know, the opportunities.
- 6:08Speaker 3: That he's gotten. Yeah, I thought I thought their line
- 6:11Speaker 3: played well. I thought their line played well in Edmonton.
- 6:13Speaker 3: You know, analytically, you know, they're they were pretty good.
- 6:17Speaker 3: They were on the certainly on the positive side of
- 6:20Speaker 3: the shot chart. So you know, looking forward to seeing
- 6:23Speaker 3: those guys, you know, continue that. You know, with Yanni,
- 6:27Speaker 3: Johanni continues to grow. There's systematical things in the game
- 6:31Speaker 3: and positioning that he has to be in that he's
- 6:34Speaker 3: still learning and we have to continue working with him
- 6:37Speaker 3: and coaching them and teaching them. You know, what he
- 6:40Speaker 3: has that you know, what he has that you can't
- 6:43Speaker 3: teach is he's got size, he's got determination, he's strong.
- 6:47Speaker 3: You know, he's making some good plays with the pucket.
- 6:49Speaker 3: He's getting shots on goals. So you know those are
- 6:52Speaker 3: good positive attributes for him.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Is that growth that you're looking for for me more
- 6:56Speaker 4: on the defensive.
- 6:57Speaker 1: End or both sides.
- 6:59Speaker 3: I'd say both sides. Yeah. You know, for a young player,
- 7:02Speaker 3: it's not easy to create in this league. It's not
- 7:05Speaker 3: easy to score in this league. The best goaltenders in
- 7:07Speaker 3: the world, and you know, it's it's a situation where
- 7:13Speaker 3: that side of it and his understanding where he needs
- 7:16Speaker 3: to be and how that needs to happen. You know,
- 7:19Speaker 3: you continue to learn and grow and develop that and
- 7:22Speaker 3: and you know the defensive side of the game and
- 7:25Speaker 3: where he needs to be for that is something we
- 7:26Speaker 3: really have to work on as well.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Kind of Spook too through hours season.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Trajectory so far, he's played well, he's had a good
- 7:34Speaker 3: season so far. You know, he's every time he's come in,
- 7:38Speaker 3: he's given us a chance to win, and he's got
- 7:41Speaker 3: a good record. And uh, you know, he played out
- 7:44Speaker 3: standing last night. You know, we obviously didn't start the
- 7:48Speaker 3: game very well, there's no excuse for that, but he
- 7:51Speaker 3: did and so you know, he kept us steady and
- 7:56Speaker 3: kept us in the game early on and gave us
- 7:57Speaker 3: a chance to win that hockey game last night. So
- 8:00Speaker 3: you know he's come into the season, he's worked, he
- 8:03Speaker 3: had a great offseason. Our goalie coach has done a
- 8:05Speaker 3: great job with all our goalies, and you know he's
- 8:08Speaker 3: played well.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Homestand finale coming up the Los Angeles Kings await and
- 8:12Speaker 2: when you can factor just the challenges that have come
- 8:15Speaker 2: the Cracking way, especially in Minnesota, this one may not
- 8:19Speaker 2: get much easier from a defensive standpoint in the Crack
- 8:22Speaker 2: and trying to answer that getting out of a six
- 8:25Speaker 2: game winless skid. The mayor of Maple Valley Ian Finnesh,
- 8:28Speaker 2: joining us now on Cracking this morning. Mayor, good talking
- 8:32Speaker 2: with you, and I think a burning question. Are two
- 8:35Speaker 2: days enough to get what was Monday night flush out
- 8:39Speaker 2: of the system and get ready for a team that
- 8:41Speaker 2: can be just as stingy in Los Angeles?
- 8:44Speaker 4: What do you think?
- 8:45Speaker 1: Well? I hope so. I mean, at some point you
- 8:48Speaker 1: got to win a hockey game. And they're scuffling, man,
- 8:50Speaker 1: they are really scuffling right now. And it's it's a
- 8:55Speaker 1: bummer because they started so well the early part of
- 8:58Speaker 1: the season with soap vomiting, but the last what game?
- 9:04Speaker 1: What have you or? Are a little bit frustrating to watch.
- 9:07Speaker 2: It's no doubt I'm going to go back and replay
- 9:09Speaker 2: comments here from two nights ago. I know that you
- 9:12Speaker 2: covered this a bit in the Daily power Play and
- 9:14Speaker 2: Al and I just broke it right down to the
- 9:18Speaker 2: studs on talking kracking. But we're gonna line this up.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Jordan Everly asked about the game from two nights ago,
- 9:25Speaker 2: and then Lane Lambert went asked about Beverly's comments right
- 9:29Speaker 2: after this.
- 9:30Speaker 5: I don't care how you play. I think it just
- 9:32Speaker 5: comes down to, you know, we For me, it's just
- 9:35Speaker 5: we need to find a little bit better from everybody.
- 9:39Speaker 5: You know. You can say we're working hard, competing, but
- 9:42Speaker 5: I just think that, you know, we need to find
- 9:44Speaker 5: a little bit more from every single guy. The efforts, Sarah,
- 9:47Speaker 5: I know the guys are working hard and competing. I
- 9:49Speaker 5: just think that we need to find you know, whether
- 9:51Speaker 5: it's you gotta make an offensive play, whether you're gonna
- 9:52Speaker 5: win a battle, whether you gotta you know, make a
- 9:54Speaker 5: wall play, whether you got a bog shot.
- 9:55Speaker 4: We just need more.
- 9:57Speaker 5: We need more, will we need more, you know, more
- 10:00Speaker 5: passion to win hockey games.
- 10:03Speaker 2: This is a good team.
- 10:03Speaker 3: I know we are.
- 10:04Speaker 5: I've been you know, been on a lot of teams
- 10:07Speaker 5: and I know we're a good team. We just have
- 10:10Speaker 5: to find a way to get back to you know
- 10:12Speaker 5: the process of being detailed, being hard to play against,
- 10:17Speaker 5: and you know, the more you do that each night
- 10:20Speaker 5: more consistently in to win games.
- 10:21Speaker 3: I would agree with his assessment that we need more
- 10:24Speaker 3: from everybody. Uh, you know, we we have to have
- 10:27Speaker 3: everybody playing well and we just can't afford to have
- 10:32Speaker 3: any passengers. And I didn't think I didn't think everyone
- 10:35Speaker 3: brought their best tonight.
- 10:37Speaker 4: Ian. How do we get here?
- 10:38Speaker 2: When you hear those comments from the captain Jordan Everly
- 10:42Speaker 2: and the head coach in lane Lambert, Well.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I guess you'd have to ask that inside the room.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I thought they were really strong comments post game on Monday.
- 10:51Speaker 1: I liked what I heard. You know, I think, first
- 10:56Speaker 1: of all, one of the most underrated terms, and this
- 11:00Speaker 1: passenger you can use that in everyday life. Like he
- 11:04Speaker 1: looked around and the guy next to you at work,
- 11:06Speaker 1: are you just a passenger? Are you pulling your weight? Right?
- 11:08Speaker 1: I think these guys are. You know, there are definite
- 11:12Speaker 1: passengers and really all you have to do is look
- 11:15Speaker 1: not always does the stack columns and the stat sheet
- 11:19Speaker 1: show everything you need to know.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Like matt E.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Vaneer is a great example that Mattypineer's having a really
- 11:25Speaker 1: good season, not scoring a lot from the goals, has
- 11:29Speaker 1: some use of numbers in his fists, but Matty Vaneer's
- 11:32Speaker 1: game is anything but a passenger. He's been a fantastic
- 11:35Speaker 1: But there are other guys. If you look and you
- 11:37Speaker 1: see in the goal column won two or three goals
- 11:42Speaker 1: for guys that aren't contributing to bole fans and aren't
- 11:45Speaker 1: pointing everything. Maybe there were a mids or two on
- 11:48Speaker 1: either contract extensions or trades. I think we all agreed
- 11:51Speaker 1: what they did in the off season was was pretty good,
- 11:54Speaker 1: I guess step in the right direction. But over the
- 11:56Speaker 1: last few weeks and really the course of the season,
- 11:59Speaker 1: for some of these guys, it hasn't been good. That
- 12:02Speaker 1: how did they get there? That's an internal question, that's
- 12:04Speaker 1: something they got to ask themselves. But it's frustrating because
- 12:08Speaker 1: you know, Mike, the goaltending has been you know, Joey's
- 12:11Speaker 1: been Joey hasn't been good in the last two games,
- 12:14Speaker 1: but Joey overall has been really good. And Grubauer's been
- 12:18Speaker 1: like phenomenal issue. Like Ruby's been really good all season long.
- 12:23Speaker 1: So with that goldtenning, with what he's got in the
- 12:25Speaker 1: back end, offensive productions in the back end, it's been
- 12:29Speaker 1: above average upper third of the league. You got to
- 12:33Speaker 1: get more from upfront. And I don't know if that's
- 12:36Speaker 1: Deffard execution or a combination of.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Well, I want to get to goltending here ian because
- 12:41Speaker 2: Grubauer statistically is on pace for his best season since
- 12:45Speaker 2: the COVID shortened year of twenty twenty and twenty twenty one.
- 12:50Speaker 2: He's in a nine to zeroero say percentage. And this
- 12:53Speaker 2: is even inclusive of that throwout the window game they
- 12:57Speaker 2: had at Edmonton where Grubauer came in relief of Joey
- 13:00Speaker 2: to court as well. I mean, I think you've already
- 13:02Speaker 2: answered the question as far as what we make out
- 13:04Speaker 2: of Grubauer here for the season. But here's an interesting
- 13:07Speaker 2: part of this and a new wrinkle. We're going through
- 13:10Speaker 2: a busy part of the schedule, seeing this team play
- 13:13Speaker 2: eleven games in twenty days. I mean, how much more
- 13:16Speaker 2: are you convincing this is going to open up more
- 13:18Speaker 2: potential starts for Philip Grubauer.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Well, I think you have to give him more opportunity
- 13:22Speaker 1: until Joey gets better, right, I'd be I'd be hesitant
- 13:26Speaker 1: to say, I think I think about giving given Grubauer
- 13:29Speaker 1: to start to getting the Kings. But you'll see what
- 13:32Speaker 1: happens later on that. I think the great thing is
- 13:35Speaker 1: it's a nice thing to have. Like when you signed
- 13:38Speaker 1: Philip Grubauer, you sign him, you know, as the number
- 13:42Speaker 1: one guy, and in the last couple of years, it's
- 13:44Speaker 1: been anything but that. So for him to bounce back,
- 13:46Speaker 1: it's really good. I mean, that's a that's a big
- 13:48Speaker 1: time positive. Like I said, I'm not I'm not too
- 13:51Speaker 1: worried about Joey yet. I think we've seen enough body
- 13:54Speaker 1: of work, even a little bit of a slump stuff
- 13:56Speaker 1: in a little bit. I think he's the last two games,
- 13:59Speaker 1: for example, they're at least one, if not multiple goals.
- 14:02Speaker 1: He got back that. You know, Jilly McCord is the
- 14:06Speaker 1: least year problem. Philip gru Bowery is a solution to
- 14:08Speaker 1: some problems. Kept you in the game against Minnesota's I mean,
- 14:12Speaker 1: Michae he had three breakaways and that gave me stopped
- 14:14Speaker 1: two or all three of them.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Right, I mean, it's easy here to think Ian that
- 14:18Speaker 2: if they were facing Colorado or Dallas or Edmonton, that
- 14:22Speaker 2: score could have gotten away from them very quickly in
- 14:25Speaker 2: period one.
- 14:26Speaker 1: It could have. Although I mean, I'm trying to think
- 14:27Speaker 1: who had the breakaways? Didn't the Boldie had one? Boldie
- 14:30Speaker 1: had one.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Ryan Hartman also had a great look too, and you
- 14:33Speaker 2: also had Yeah, you also had Yakov Trenyon.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I know they the sense he really kind of
- 14:39Speaker 1: kept you in that game. I just think to me
- 14:43Speaker 1: he made a positive too, Mikeys that they had a
- 14:46Speaker 1: great job. They did a great job and had their
- 14:48Speaker 1: best game killing Kettledys and forever they're perfect killing Kennledy.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And that's the team that in the tracking and giving
- 14:54Speaker 1: up seven power play goals in the previous game attempts
- 14:58Speaker 1: over the previous three games into the opposition, that doesn't
- 15:02Speaker 1: hurt us. I mean, stopping seven of eight's one thing.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Giving up seven of eight is that's crazy. And then
- 15:08Speaker 1: they are they're perfect in the PK. Last night they
- 15:10Speaker 1: get the power play goal, which is the beauty thing
- 15:13Speaker 1: of beauty. They really tapping from Stevenson. They just have
- 15:17Speaker 1: to get five on five score and they've got to
- 15:19Speaker 1: get more from their offense. They're more from their forwards.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I think Person Caton being out is not hurting them people.
- 15:24Speaker 1: They always only got five assists and the goal you
- 15:27Speaker 1: watch person Canton play, meaning we think we believe he
- 15:32Speaker 1: got to hurt blocking a shot, paying the price. And
- 15:35Speaker 1: as far as just setting guys up, he's been great,
- 15:39Speaker 1: only getting better every game. But there's other guys that
- 15:41Speaker 1: can have to start to finish with the buck in
- 15:43Speaker 1: the net and that's just not happening right now.
- 15:45Speaker 4: What stands out to you as far as what they
- 15:47Speaker 4: miss the most with Jayden Schwartz.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Well, the time, he's your leadings point producer, so that's
- 15:53Speaker 1: the obvious one. He paid the price get front presence,
- 15:58Speaker 1: even though he's not a big guy, plays the game
- 16:01Speaker 1: the right way. Here to say that all the time,
- 16:03Speaker 1: but it's true. I think he's really one of the
- 16:05Speaker 1: most underrated players in the league. There's a lot of
- 16:08Speaker 1: skill there. There's a lot of grit hockey fensis through
- 16:11Speaker 1: the roof, makes all the right plays at bull fends
- 16:14Speaker 1: the ice. I mean, just a really good hockey player,
- 16:17Speaker 1: you know, yeah, I mean he's he's not McKennon, McDavid,
- 16:20Speaker 1: what have you, But he's a really good hockey player
- 16:24Speaker 1: and arguably one of their two or three best skaters,
- 16:28Speaker 1: at least in terms of the forward group. I mean,
- 16:30Speaker 1: your best skaters right now are Matty Veneers and Done
- 16:34Speaker 1: and Montour. Yeah, right, those are your best players. And
- 16:37Speaker 1: it's not close. But Schwartz, if he's on the ice,
- 16:39Speaker 1: he's right there too.
- 16:41Speaker 2: I want to get to the Vince Done hit, and
- 16:44Speaker 2: we had a lengthy conversation about this al Kaniski myself
- 16:48Speaker 2: even during gameplay, Everett and now as well. And I think,
- 16:52Speaker 2: first off, my thought on this scene is that you
- 16:55Speaker 2: really feel bad for Matt Zugarello for the way he
- 16:58Speaker 2: had to exit that game. But in today's NHL, in
- 17:02Speaker 2: the modern NHL, it is extremely, extremely difficult to lay
- 17:08Speaker 2: in a thundering hit like Vince Dunn did and do
- 17:12Speaker 2: it the clean way. And it was absolutely positively one
- 17:17Speaker 2: hund a clean hit. And it didn't take long for
- 17:21Speaker 2: even that off a clean hit to stir the hornet's
- 17:24Speaker 2: nest with Minnesota, and then you had Ryan Hartman trying
- 17:27Speaker 2: to chase him all over the ice to try to
- 17:29Speaker 2: get him to fight Vince Done.
- 17:31Speaker 4: By the end of the first period. What were your
- 17:33Speaker 4: thoughts on the hit, we'll.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Start to hit itself great hit hockey play. One of
- 17:38Speaker 1: the reasons we love the game, many of us love
- 17:40Speaker 1: the game is the speed, the skill, but also the
- 17:44Speaker 1: physicality of it. Some of that's been taken away over
- 17:47Speaker 1: the years, and a lot of the physicality that's been
- 17:49Speaker 1: taken away to take it away in the right way,
- 17:52Speaker 1: you know, like it's from behind, blindside hit, gets in
- 17:56Speaker 1: the hand, things like that that don't exist anymore. We
- 17:58Speaker 1: don't have much fighting off. Yes, uh so you know
- 18:02Speaker 1: those are all fine as far I mean, but that was,
- 18:04Speaker 1: like you said, Mikey, that was just hey, you first, like,
- 18:07Speaker 1: do you want to cut back to the center of
- 18:08Speaker 1: the ice? You want to go open ice? And you
- 18:10Speaker 1: got twenty nine bearing down on you. Who who plays
- 18:13Speaker 1: the game in a you know, basically a perpetually pissed
- 18:18Speaker 1: off state of mind. That's that's that's a youth problem.
- 18:20Speaker 1: That's the Zucarella problem. That's not anybody else's problem.
- 18:23Speaker 2: If you don't want to get hit by a freight train,
- 18:25Speaker 2: don't go walking on the tracks.
- 18:28Speaker 1: And and honestly, like I don't know what else people
- 18:31Speaker 1: expected to happen. There is is bence supposed to just
- 18:34Speaker 1: pull out the you know, the Matador cape and say
- 18:37Speaker 1: oh hey and away you go like, no, that's not
- 18:39Speaker 1: how it works. And and like I said, Vince, Vince
- 18:42Speaker 1: Dunn plays the game the right way, played hard, like
- 18:46Speaker 1: I like, I think he's you know, when we when
- 18:49Speaker 1: we have him on the TV shows on the on
- 18:51Speaker 1: the television side, any time Piper some of the interviews
- 18:54Speaker 1: of you know, he's really thoughtful, he thinks the game through,
- 18:58Speaker 1: he's the game well, but plays it hard. That was
- 19:02Speaker 1: a hard, great hockey play, great hockey hit. And and
- 19:06Speaker 1: then you know he knew what was coming. They're gonna
- 19:09Speaker 1: all challenge him. Duke Corella is a popular guy as
- 19:11Speaker 1: a veteran, he's coming off an injury, you know all
- 19:13Speaker 1: those things. I think we all get it and we
- 19:15Speaker 1: all understand it. But at the same time, it was
- 19:19Speaker 1: the hit was fine, Like it was a good hit,
- 19:21Speaker 1: and you know, they challenge him, or they go in
- 19:24Speaker 1: the corner to scrum, we break it up, booms gets
- 19:26Speaker 1: color play. Thanks for coming all good end of the period.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I get it. I mean I think how many times
- 19:33Speaker 1: we said you and I even on this to some
- 19:35Speaker 1: of this podcast. We need a better response from the
- 19:37Speaker 1: crack and we need this response.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I can hear Edzo echoing in my head right now, Johnny,
- 19:42Speaker 1: where's the response. Who's going to respond to that? Where's
- 19:44Speaker 1: the response? Well, like they want Brian Hartman wanted to respond,
- 19:49Speaker 1: I saw I won't name the website, but I saw
- 19:55Speaker 1: an insinuation from a local website blogger, podcas cas what
- 20:00Speaker 1: have you? Whatever you want to call it, kind of
- 20:02Speaker 1: insinuating it. Done back down from a challenge by Hartman,
- 20:07Speaker 1: and listen, if you really believe that you haven't watched
- 20:13Speaker 1: twenty nine play the game ever, he he You can't
- 20:17Speaker 1: afford to lose Vince Done for five, ten or fifteen minutes.
- 20:20Speaker 1: You can't.
- 20:21Speaker 4: He's one of players.
- 20:24Speaker 1: He's one of your best players, period. And the story now,
- 20:29Speaker 1: if a fight happens, you know, and he goes after
- 20:32Speaker 1: guys a lot, we've seen it, uh whenever you know,
- 20:35Speaker 1: when's Calgary coming up pretty quick? Right at some point,
- 20:37Speaker 1: like we all know how that's gonna go. He's gonna
- 20:40Speaker 1: chase the guy around all night. That's not gonna want
- 20:43Speaker 1: to answer the bell. I get it, we all get it.
- 20:45Speaker 1: But if Vince Done gets the strap and the heat
- 20:48Speaker 1: of the moment, you live with it if Vin's done,
- 20:51Speaker 1: it's challenged by a guy well after the fact in
- 20:55Speaker 1: a game that at that point was was it one one?
- 20:57Speaker 1: I think I believe right doesn't matter. If one game?
- 21:01Speaker 1: Why what do you what do you get out of that? Like,
- 21:03Speaker 1: when do you get out of that? You the guy
- 21:06Speaker 1: challenge you after a clean hit? No, you know what,
- 21:09Speaker 1: I'll do it on my time part man, Like I'll no,
- 21:12Speaker 1: you can go away. That was silly. But yeah, for
- 21:14Speaker 1: people to insinuate that he backed down or something, and
- 21:18Speaker 1: that's that's moronic to be honest with you, Like what
- 21:22Speaker 1: are you doing? Like why would you like Vince's done that?
- 21:24Speaker 1: Like nope, Like I wasn't even worried when they went
- 21:27Speaker 1: in the corner and the scrum was happening and all
- 21:29Speaker 1: the wrestling match was taking place, Like, well, the Kraken
- 21:32Speaker 1: can ill afford to lose him here. Now if he
- 21:35Speaker 1: wants to grab somebody, uh, you know, Trendon or whoever
- 21:38Speaker 1: else is in the corner, you want to grab somebody
- 21:40Speaker 1: and throttle him, fine, but you know, Vince done's too important.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I didn't have any problem with that. The problem is
- 21:47Speaker 1: they don't have anybody anst thebellion Pagoshin was gonna run
- 21:49Speaker 1: around and be a fool the rest of the night,
- 21:50Speaker 1: and he was. I get it, and I understand that's
- 21:53Speaker 1: that's you know, that's that's gonna be his thing. Seattle
- 21:56Speaker 1: doesn't have any many Seattle doesn't have the guy that's
- 21:58Speaker 1: gonna go Toto fell with him anyway. So you know,
- 22:02Speaker 1: that's just part of the game. It happens. You know,
- 22:05Speaker 1: I think there's certain guys in this team that do respond,
- 22:08Speaker 1: and I like it. I mean, Freddy Goodrow got his
- 22:10Speaker 1: first career fight.
- 22:11Speaker 4: You know, get that, Freddie Goodrow Ty Cartier as well.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and Ty Cartier he'll respond. Yeah, you know, you
- 22:17Speaker 1: know that does pretty good. GROW's first fight ever, like
- 22:20Speaker 1: and like he shouldn't have to he shouldn't have to
- 22:22Speaker 1: do that. Now, if you want to ask about passengers,
- 22:25Speaker 1: there was a guy on the ice that hasn't done
- 22:27Speaker 1: the ice for a while for a couple of games.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Now it was standing there watching you Drow have to
- 22:31Speaker 1: answer the bell there and not answer the bell, just
- 22:33Speaker 1: you know, stick up for his teammates. So you know,
- 22:35Speaker 1: I think they got they you know, there's some guys
- 22:37Speaker 1: out there that they give you all they got and
- 22:39Speaker 1: they do the play the game the right way. But
- 22:41Speaker 1: for Vince then to have to fight a guy would
- 22:43Speaker 1: be you know, at the end of a period, it's ridiculous.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Get away, go to the locker room. You're too important
- 22:48Speaker 1: to that team, and I'm glad he didn't.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Finally, the King's coming up here in the krack and
- 22:53Speaker 2: we'll see them twice this month, and we'll see you
- 22:55Speaker 2: gets the nod and net because Philip Grubauer's got great
- 22:58Speaker 2: numbers against the Kings for his career, Joey d Kord's
- 23:01Speaker 2: got great numbers against the Kings for his career. But
- 23:03Speaker 2: still they're gonna be facing a team that still has
- 23:06Speaker 2: a defensive heavy approach among one of the top teams
- 23:10Speaker 2: as far as fewest goals allowed, one of the top
- 23:13Speaker 2: teams fewest shots allowed. But they are still very much
- 23:16Speaker 2: a flawed offensive team. Despite ripping Chicago a parts six
- 23:20Speaker 2: two games ago and then beating Utah, who's been pretty
- 23:22Speaker 2: good lately but sluggishly coming back down a little bit
- 23:26Speaker 2: for two as the final score in that one. So
- 23:30Speaker 2: I think we know that we're gonna get out of this,
- 23:32Speaker 2: and I'd be surprised if it's nine to eight. Once
- 23:34Speaker 2: again in overtime like three years ago, two to one
- 23:37Speaker 2: or three two when you face the Kings seems to
- 23:39Speaker 2: be on the menu now. But I think when you
- 23:41Speaker 2: consider how Jordan Everly spoke of his teammates and trying
- 23:45Speaker 2: to get them fired up, what Lane Lambert said in
- 23:48Speaker 2: trying to possibly get his team as well fired up
- 23:52Speaker 2: is the biggest key here for the Crack. And you
- 23:54Speaker 2: think energy in period one, energy toward the front of
- 23:58Speaker 2: the net or something else.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Well, first period, coming out strong in the first period,
- 24:02Speaker 1: it would be a good start. I think that's I'm
- 24:04Speaker 1: sure that's what Lane will be preaching. I'm sure that's
- 24:07Speaker 1: what he'll be pushing. I mean, at some point, there's
- 24:09Speaker 1: only so much the coach can do or say. They
- 24:13Speaker 1: have some net front presence as a game went on
- 24:15Speaker 1: laugh Monday, I guess, but I that part I'm not
- 24:19Speaker 1: as worried about. I think just a good start, getting
- 24:22Speaker 1: on top of somebody early, and not just by a goal,
- 24:26Speaker 1: but getting on top of somebody early and taking advantage.
- 24:29Speaker 1: I think trailing after one period. I think they only
- 24:31Speaker 1: have one one win this season of Cracking, So just
- 24:35Speaker 1: a good start comparative, especially coming off the comments by
- 24:37Speaker 1: Everly and and Lane Lambert and also maybe stop worrying
- 24:41Speaker 1: about the opponent. If you're the Crack is like, okay,
- 24:44Speaker 1: there'll be a defensive team. Whatever. How about just go
- 24:46Speaker 1: out and play your game, get up and down, play
- 24:48Speaker 1: with some speed, balance in the both ends, the keep
- 24:51Speaker 1: your defensive structure, and maybe some of these guys that
- 24:55Speaker 1: are sitting on one or two goals can can break through.
- 24:59Speaker 1: You know, there's there's a couple of guys that are
- 25:01Speaker 1: twenty plus goal scores, you know, on back of the
- 25:03Speaker 1: hockey card, that are on pace for eight or nine
- 25:06Speaker 1: on the season. But those guys need to get going,
- 25:08Speaker 1: and no better time than against the Kings.
- 25:10Speaker 4: National TV's got the game. Ian. I know that you
- 25:13Speaker 4: had the night off, but hey, in case you get bored, Seed,
- 25:16Speaker 4: It's always open, buddy, you know that. Appreciate you.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I appreciate the invite.
- 25:20Speaker 4: Mike, Thanks, I appreciate it. Mayor all right, Mayor appreciate you.
- 25:25Speaker 3: That.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Sean Forness, once again, TV host for the KRACK and
- 25:28Speaker 2: Hockey Network, also heard on these airwaves one to three
- 25:31Speaker 2: weekdays on ninety three to three KJRFM, Cracking getting set
- 25:35Speaker 2: for the Los Angeles Kings in As we hinted earlier,
- 25:38Speaker 2: the Kracking could be in store for another defensive fistfight.
- 25:42Speaker 2: The Kings yes opening up their offense recently two games ago,
- 25:46Speaker 2: blowing out Chicago's six to nothing, but for the most
- 25:49Speaker 2: part they have still been very much a defensive aligned
- 25:52Speaker 2: team under head coach Jim Hiller, where the Kings currently
- 25:56Speaker 2: holding third place in the Pacific Division at fourteen eight
- 26:00Speaker 2: and seven, with the Kraken are facing that typically can't
- 26:03Speaker 2: score much but also doesn't give up much goals scored
- 26:07Speaker 2: per game just two point seven twenty seventh in the NHL,
- 26:11Speaker 2: goals allowed though per game two point four third best
- 26:15Speaker 2: in the NHL, shots against twenty six per game, sixth
- 26:19Speaker 2: ranked in the NHL, and the Kraken trying to get
- 26:23Speaker 2: back to their own fundamentals seven points back of the
- 26:26Speaker 2: Kings with a record of eleven ten and six. To note,
- 26:30Speaker 2: Jordan Eberley carrying a three point scoring streak into the
- 26:33Speaker 2: contest and with Jaden Schwartz out, Eberley has taken the
- 26:37Speaker 2: mantle now as a Kraken scoring leader with seventeen points
- 26:40Speaker 2: in twenty seven games, but his nine goals now on
- 26:43Speaker 2: the season, setting him on pace for a twenty seven
- 26:46Speaker 2: goal campaign, which would mark the most he's had in
- 26:49Speaker 2: his NHL career since a twenty eight goal output with
- 26:53Speaker 2: Edmonton eleven years ago. Adrian Kempei just comes off the
- 26:57Speaker 2: massive extension for LA right now faces them with twenty
- 27:01Speaker 2: six points in twenty nine games, and the Kings now
- 27:04Speaker 2: down to just two regulars from their Stanley Cup championship
- 27:08Speaker 2: squads under Darryl Setter last decade.
- 27:10Speaker 4: That would be Drew.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Dowdy with ten points in twenty two games at age
- 27:14Speaker 2: thirty six, and thirty eight year old center on Jay
- 27:18Speaker 2: Coppetar in his retirement tour season, Carrying fifteen points in
- 27:22Speaker 2: twenty five games, he is seven points away from thirteen
- 27:26Speaker 2: hundred in his NHL career. We have all the action
- 27:29Speaker 2: for you covered beginning at six thirty with your pregame
- 27:32Speaker 2: show served up by Frostbrewed Course Light Choose Chill, opening
- 27:36Speaker 2: face off, Little Pass seven o'clock Pacific time. Once again,
- 27:39Speaker 2: Local TV's got the game, so we certainly hope that
- 27:42Speaker 2: you can dial us in as your only local broadcast
- 27:44Speaker 2: source for the evening on ninety three to three KJARFM
- 27:48Speaker 2: and The Emerald Queen Casino Kraken Audio Network. Hey, thank
- 27:51Speaker 2: you to Ian Ferness for joining us and for cracking
- 27:54Speaker 2: this morning. I'm Mike Benton. Have a happy Wednesday and
- 27:58Speaker 2: enjoy the game.
