- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle probably, and I'm here because
- 0:05Speaker 1: I'm supposed to be. And also there's a helicopter outside
- 0:09Speaker 1: somewhere and I hear it and it's freaking me out
- 0:12Speaker 1: because maybe they're coming for me. Finally, maybe this is it.
- 0:15Speaker 1: So if you don't hear this episode or you hear
- 0:17Speaker 1: it late, it's because they took me away and someone
- 0:21Speaker 1: had to find this episode and put it online for you.
- 0:24Speaker 1: So it was nice knowing you. But if this is
- 0:27Speaker 1: airing at the normal day and time, I assume everything
- 0:30Speaker 1: is fine and I didn't get taken away by the helicopter,
- 0:33Speaker 1: so yay, I guess, but that remains to be seen
- 0:36Speaker 1: for me in the past. Anyway, we're gonna talk about Lane,
- 0:41Speaker 1: but I wanted to just say a couple things about
- 0:43Speaker 1: what's going on with the new anime season that's not
- 0:45Speaker 1: new anymore at all. What are we like at week
- 0:48Speaker 1: six or something crazy and things like that. Yeah, so
- 0:52Speaker 1: I'm very behind with seasonal anime because when I get
- 0:57Speaker 1: sad and stuff, I don't do a good job of
- 0:59Speaker 1: watching thing. So may I'm not super caught up. I
- 1:02Speaker 1: just finally caught up with Jiu Jitsu Kaisen and that's
- 1:05Speaker 1: been over for like six weeks now, so at least
- 1:09Speaker 1: that happened. But I started watching which hat atlie maybe
- 1:13Speaker 1: that's how you pronounce it. I don't know. I had
- 1:16Speaker 1: already read some of the manga, so I know everything
- 1:19Speaker 1: that has happened so far, like none of it has
- 1:21Speaker 1: been surprising, but it does look really pretty. I was
- 1:25Speaker 1: telling my mom about it, and she basically said, that
- 1:27Speaker 1: doesn't sound like something that you would like, and she's
- 1:29Speaker 1: not wrong. Actually I don't like it that much, something
- 1:33Speaker 1: about like kids learning magic. It is not really that
- 1:37Speaker 1: interesting to me. That being said, It's been done very
- 1:41Speaker 1: well so far, so maybe I will find out that
- 1:43Speaker 1: I do like it. Who knows, I don't know. I
- 1:47Speaker 1: really don't know. Aside from that, I'm like almost not
- 1:50Speaker 1: caught up on anything. I'm not even caught up on
- 1:53Speaker 1: Door Heidoro and that sucks because we did that show,
- 1:56Speaker 1: so I should be caught up on it, or least
- 2:00Speaker 1: watching a couple of episodes. But what are you gonna
- 2:03Speaker 1: do besides actually get into things and watch them. I
- 2:07Speaker 1: don't know. Also, I think yesterday, if not the day before,
- 2:11Speaker 1: it's today, is like Tuesday when I'm doing this an
- 2:14Speaker 1: anime adaptation for Cagorabacci was announced. Which is that shown
- 2:19Speaker 1: in that got really big, like maybe a year or
- 2:22Speaker 1: two ago, you know, just another shone in jump title
- 2:26Speaker 1: that I like read the first couple of chapters of
- 2:29Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, it's like totally fine, I guess,
- 2:33Speaker 1: but I know people like love it, so I'm gonna
- 2:37Speaker 1: be excited. Why not. Maybe it'll be fun. I know
- 2:40Speaker 1: that the main character uses a sword like a lot
- 2:43Speaker 1: of characters, but yeah, you know, it could be cool.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Maybe I should probably read it, but I just wanted
- 2:51Speaker 1: to let you know about that. Anyway, let's talk about
- 2:54Speaker 1: Lane episode two, because that's what we're here to do. Also,
- 2:57Speaker 1: side note before I start that I only ended up
- 3:01Speaker 1: with fourteen pages of notes for this episode. And I
- 3:04Speaker 1: know I've talked about it before, but in case you
- 3:06Speaker 1: don't remember, the last few shows I've done have been
- 3:09Speaker 1: between eighteen to like twenty four or twenty five pages
- 3:12Speaker 1: of notes, so this is way way under the last
- 3:14Speaker 1: time I had like fourteen pages of notes was way
- 3:16Speaker 1: back in Windbreaker, and I thought maybe I just got
- 3:20Speaker 1: more detailed or something, so I was just never gonna
- 3:23Speaker 1: have so few pages of notes. But apparently that is
- 3:26Speaker 1: not what's happening. I don't know what's happening. So if
- 3:29Speaker 1: you're like, why are the episodes of Lane in the
- 3:32Speaker 1: podcast shorter than the episodes of the show before which
- 3:36Speaker 1: was given or the show before that, or the show
- 3:39Speaker 1: before that when they were averaging like an hour and
- 3:42Speaker 1: fifteen minutes, I have no idea. I am not doing
- 3:45Speaker 1: it because I thought that the podcast was too long
- 3:48Speaker 1: or something. It is not within my control somehow, it
- 3:52Speaker 1: is just happening. So yeah, it basically just has to
- 3:56Speaker 1: do with what the content of the episode is and
- 3:58Speaker 1: how many people are talking, and how much like dead
- 4:00Speaker 1: space where we're just looking at people's faces exists, and
- 4:04Speaker 1: there's a lot of that in Lane. So let's do
- 4:07Speaker 1: it because we gotta hurry before the helicopter takes me away.
- 4:12Speaker 1: All right, So Episode two of Lane is called Girls. Okay, Yeah,
- 4:18Speaker 1: I guess that works for the episode. There's girls in
- 4:21Speaker 1: this episode because you know Lane is a girl and girls.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I don't know. It's a weird one for me. Also,
- 4:28Speaker 1: last week I said I would find out who did
- 4:31Speaker 1: the music for this because I said it was pretty cool.
- 4:34Speaker 1: That is Raichi Nakaido, and he hasn't done a lot
- 4:38Speaker 1: of music for other series. I think he did one
- 4:41Speaker 1: other one and I didn't write it down. Heay. But
- 4:44Speaker 1: sound director who may also be responsible for some of
- 4:46Speaker 1: the cool stuff that's going on is Yota Suruoka, and
- 4:52Speaker 1: he has done like everything in the world. He's done
- 4:54Speaker 1: sound for Clanad, Violet, Evergarden and Chaon and pretty much
- 4:58Speaker 1: I could just go for He's done a lot of stuff,
- 5:01Speaker 1: so I guess between them we got kind of a
- 5:03Speaker 1: cool soundscape. Anyway, Like I just said, it's called Girls,
- 5:08Speaker 1: and the beginning of this is very similar to the
- 5:12Speaker 1: beginning of episode one, so similar that like it's exactly
- 5:15Speaker 1: the same stuff repeated, which kind of sucks. So I'll
- 5:18Speaker 1: just kind of run through it. And if this happens
- 5:21Speaker 1: going forward, like every episode has the same beginning sequence,
- 5:25Speaker 1: I probably will stop explaining them to you since you
- 5:29Speaker 1: will know what they are already. Anyway, we start with
- 5:31Speaker 1: a staticky blue screen of like a television, and then
- 5:35Speaker 1: we see a white screen and red characters are typed out,
- 5:39Speaker 1: and as they are, someone says present day, present time,
- 5:44Speaker 1: and then lasts of bunch. Yeah. Then we go back
- 5:46Speaker 1: to the blue screen and lane fades in cut to
- 5:49Speaker 1: black then we go to the opening theme. Yeay back
- 5:53Speaker 1: from the opening still part of the sequence we saw
- 5:56Speaker 1: last week. We fade into a green tinted night scene
- 6:01Speaker 1: and people are like crossing crosswalks and there's like lots
- 6:03Speaker 1: of shadows and shit, and we see a crosswalk light
- 6:07Speaker 1: and it turns red. Then we get shots of like
- 6:10Speaker 1: kind of drifting red and white lights on like a
- 6:13Speaker 1: green and black background. I think there's supposed to be
- 6:16Speaker 1: like car headlights and break lights. Then we see a
- 6:19Speaker 1: bluish purplish city shots and we hear a girl say,
- 6:25Speaker 1: what is it you're so afraid of? Why don't you
- 6:27Speaker 1: take a chance sometime? We see a crowd walking again,
- 6:32Speaker 1: and then we hear a girl giggle. We get to
- 6:35Speaker 1: a taxi as it pulls away from the curve, and
- 6:37Speaker 1: then we see a shot of telephone wires and like
- 6:40Speaker 1: a tall building kind of from below, and clouds moving
- 6:44Speaker 1: quickly overhead, like really dark clouds, and we see the
- 6:47Speaker 1: title screen Girls Layer zero two, and that was almost
- 6:51Speaker 1: all the same as the first time. Anyway, out of
- 6:56Speaker 1: this weird kind of recap thing that we did, we
- 6:58Speaker 1: cut to a disco ball and we're obviously maybe in
- 7:02Speaker 1: a club people are dancing and sitting off to the
- 7:05Speaker 1: side and stuff, doing things, and we see that psychedelic
- 7:09Speaker 1: screen and it says Siberia, I didn't want to be here.
- 7:13Speaker 1: By the way, Siberia is spelled c y b e Ria,
- 7:17Speaker 1: so it's like Cyber. It's kind of a cool name
- 7:22Speaker 1: for club. I guess whatever. We see a glass being
- 7:26Speaker 1: set down, which I learned in a couple of seconds
- 7:28Speaker 1: is probably a bottle of coke or pepsi or some
- 7:31Speaker 1: sort of soda. There's this guy I guess, sitting with
- 7:33Speaker 1: his head bent down and he's he's looking pretty stressed.
- 7:37Speaker 1: He looks up to see a woman's I guess chest.
- 7:39Speaker 1: We're just seeing her chest. She's got like a red
- 7:42Speaker 1: bra or shirt. It's hard to tell because we are
- 7:45Speaker 1: just seeing her chests and the camera pans up and
- 7:49Speaker 1: she's got blonde hair and like a full respirator mask on,
- 7:52Speaker 1: so we can't see your face or anything. Now we
- 7:54Speaker 1: can see more of what she's wearing, and it is
- 7:56Speaker 1: a dress, not a bra or a shirt. So I
- 7:58Speaker 1: was just wrong. And I guess she's a server because
- 8:02Speaker 1: she's carrying a metal tray like a server might carry.
- 8:05Speaker 1: She takes something kind of small out of her breast,
- 8:09Speaker 1: like maybe her bra because sometimes we put things there.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I don't because I don't think it would work, and
- 8:15Speaker 1: also I just get all sweaty. No pockets, you gotta
- 8:19Speaker 1: get pockets. Anyway, we focus in on whatever it is.
- 8:22Speaker 1: It kind of looks like a napkin. The guy reaches
- 8:25Speaker 1: into his back pocket and he kind of flings this
- 8:27Speaker 1: crumpled up ball of paper on to the table, which
- 8:29Speaker 1: is not very polite. You normally hand things to people.
- 8:33Speaker 1: The woman takes it and we see that it is
- 8:35Speaker 1: a ten thousand yen note, which is about sixty two
- 8:39Speaker 1: dollars and sixty four cents, which is kind of expensive,
- 8:41Speaker 1: but not ten thousand dollars expensive, so that's good. She
- 8:44Speaker 1: puts it in her bra, as is the fashion, and leaves.
- 8:47Speaker 1: We see the psychedelic screen again. Ten thousand yen. That's
- 8:51Speaker 1: too expensive. It's drugs, right, because drugs are expensive. The
- 8:56Speaker 1: market price is about four thousand yen or about twenty
- 8:59Speaker 1: five five dollars, which is a pretty big difference. The
- 9:04Speaker 1: guy looks down in awe at whatever this says that's
- 9:07Speaker 1: on the table, and we get the psychedelic screen again,
- 9:09Speaker 1: and it says although the process to obtain it is
- 9:12Speaker 1: the same. It's not precisely a drug, sure, we call
- 9:16Speaker 1: it a sella. Okay. The guy unfolds the paper and
- 9:20Speaker 1: there's this shiny, almost lemon shaped drop of something that
- 9:25Speaker 1: looks like mercury inside it. The guy licks his lips
- 9:30Speaker 1: gross and we get a closer shot of the asella
- 9:34Speaker 1: I guess, which really does look like a lemon like.
- 9:37Speaker 1: It's got a very lemony shape and it looks like
- 9:40Speaker 1: inside it there's something spiky, like it's slightly translucent, so
- 9:44Speaker 1: we're seeing kind of the shadow of something and it's
- 9:48Speaker 1: like really dark again and spiky and like lights are
- 9:51Speaker 1: in it. Maybe. The guy is sweating and breathing really
- 9:55Speaker 1: hard and his eyes are super wide because I think
- 9:58Speaker 1: this is a really exciting experience for him. He takes
- 10:01Speaker 1: out a box cutter and he extends the blade he
- 10:04Speaker 1: slices into it and pries it open, and the like
- 10:09Speaker 1: spiky metal thing like pops out with like some goo
- 10:12Speaker 1: around it. Yay. He has like a magnifying glass that
- 10:16Speaker 1: he puts to his eye, which is a weird thing
- 10:18Speaker 1: to bring to a club, and we get a closer
- 10:20Speaker 1: shot of the spiky black thing that was in the lemon,
- 10:23Speaker 1: and it is black and has like red bands on
- 10:27Speaker 1: it and like pulsing blue lights inside the bands, and
- 10:32Speaker 1: again lots of spikes. It's probably not something you want
- 10:35Speaker 1: to put in your body because of all the spikes.
- 10:38Speaker 1: And then there's like gray like wiry things maybe that
- 10:41Speaker 1: are running front to back. It's weird. I tried to
- 10:44Speaker 1: draw out what I meant with the wirey things, but
- 10:48Speaker 1: it doesn't make any sense, so you'll have to take
- 10:50Speaker 1: my word for it. He looks up and smiles, and
- 10:54Speaker 1: then he takes the thing and he just like tosses
- 10:56Speaker 1: it in his mouth and takes a drink of the soda.
- 11:01Speaker 1: We see from his perspective now as he looks down
- 11:04Speaker 1: at the bottle in his hand, and the light that's
- 11:06Speaker 1: being reflected on it kind of starts to shimmer and
- 11:09Speaker 1: warp and then blur. His eye is twitching and he
- 11:12Speaker 1: starts foaming at the mouth, which is how you know
- 11:14Speaker 1: it's working. And we get that psychedelic screen and it
- 11:16Speaker 1: says I felt accelerated. Yeah, okay. We go back to
- 11:23Speaker 1: everyone dancing now and things have slowed the fuck down,
- 11:27Speaker 1: including the music, and he's all just sitting there, wide eyed, shaking,
- 11:32Speaker 1: making some weird sounds. Yeah, I don't like drugs, And
- 11:36Speaker 1: we get some more shots of things being really slow,
- 11:40Speaker 1: and then he starts to kind of whimper and tear up,
- 11:44Speaker 1: and we get close up on his eyes where there's
- 11:46Speaker 1: all like these fast moving lights, you know, like how
- 11:49Speaker 1: I put this, like like a fast moving light, like
- 11:52Speaker 1: if a ball of light was traveling really fast, so
- 11:55Speaker 1: it looked like a big line. They're all in his eyes,
- 11:58Speaker 1: like going somewhere. People are laughing, and somebody falls, which
- 12:03Speaker 1: is weird. He gasps, I guess at the person falling,
- 12:06Speaker 1: And he looks over and there's this guy on the
- 12:08Speaker 1: ground and like a little crowd is gathered around them,
- 12:11Speaker 1: and there's a woman just kind of walking away from
- 12:14Speaker 1: the scene. She turns back and yells something but we
- 12:17Speaker 1: can't hear it, and honestly looks like Lane, which is weird.
- 12:22Speaker 1: We get a close up on his eye, and then
- 12:24Speaker 1: the moment where the woman yelled like replays kind of grainy,
- 12:28Speaker 1: like it's on a videotape, which obviously we're supposed to
- 12:32Speaker 1: know that this is important and that it wasn't a
- 12:34Speaker 1: mistake that it looked like Lane. To be fair, this
- 12:37Speaker 1: looks like an adult Lane somehow, but it looks like
- 12:40Speaker 1: her a lot. Yeah, So I actually I get why
- 12:44Speaker 1: they did it twice like that, but I feel like
- 12:46Speaker 1: I understood it the first time and I didn't need
- 12:48Speaker 1: to see it twice. So I felt a little bit
- 12:50Speaker 1: spoon fed here, But that's okay. We got back to
- 12:53Speaker 1: him looking like totally out of it. I mean, he
- 12:56Speaker 1: is on drugs and he kind of gets to his feet.
- 12:59Speaker 1: We see that psychedelic screen and it says, come on, quickly,
- 13:04Speaker 1: go to white. We fade into a like a blow shot,
- 13:08Speaker 1: looking up at power lines. It's humming on the white sky,
- 13:11Speaker 1: as they like to do, and we hear Lane say, no,
- 13:15Speaker 1: that's not it. We see something being typed onto a
- 13:18Speaker 1: computer screen, but it's in like weird symbols. It's not Japanese,
- 13:21Speaker 1: it's not English. I don't know what it is. And
- 13:23Speaker 1: we hear a beep and Lane says, I don't have
- 13:26Speaker 1: any mail. We hear her typing again, and then another
- 13:30Speaker 1: beep and she says, I don't get it. The focus
- 13:33Speaker 1: shifts away from her and we see that her sister
- 13:36Speaker 1: is standing in the doorway in the background, and she says, oh,
- 13:40Speaker 1: you're alone. I thought someone else was here. Laine looks
- 13:43Speaker 1: back at her and says someone else who. Her sister's like,
- 13:47Speaker 1: you know what I'm talking about, Lane? What your little
- 13:51Speaker 1: imaginary friend? Okay? Sure? Lane stares at her, just as
- 13:56Speaker 1: confused as I am, and her sister continues or something
- 14:00Speaker 1: like that. The camera pulls in on her sister's eye
- 14:03Speaker 1: and then cuts to Lane staring with the camera pulls
- 14:05Speaker 1: in on her eye too, and then her sister just
- 14:08Speaker 1: shuts the door and leaves, and we hear her from
- 14:10Speaker 1: outside the door say you're gonna be late again. Lane
- 14:13Speaker 1: is kind of still for a second, and then she
- 14:15Speaker 1: turns back to the computer and gasps. We see the
- 14:17Speaker 1: stuffed animals on her windowsill, which in this episode actually
- 14:21Speaker 1: look like they're there and not that they're just phantom
- 14:23Speaker 1: objects on a windowsill, so that's nice. They're like bathed
- 14:25Speaker 1: in lights, and we hear her door open, and then
- 14:29Speaker 1: somebody run down the hall, So I guess she has
- 14:31Speaker 1: left the room because she's going to be late to school.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Now we see her open her front door and walk
- 14:37Speaker 1: down those super overexposed steps that basically don't look like steps.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Now she's walking down the street with the hum of
- 14:43Speaker 1: the electrical wires overhead in the background. Then she stops
- 14:46Speaker 1: and gasps. She looks up and she sees a man
- 14:50Speaker 1: in a suit standing next to a telephone pole, like
- 14:52Speaker 1: slightly down the street, like just standing there, not walking,
- 14:57Speaker 1: just like standing slightly behind I mean, at a telephone pole.
- 15:01Speaker 1: So he's not really hiding. You could still see him,
- 15:03Speaker 1: but he's kind of behind it, which makes it a
- 15:06Speaker 1: little bit upsetting. Laane clenches her fist and she sighs,
- 15:09Speaker 1: and she starts to walk again, you know, in his direction,
- 15:12Speaker 1: because she's got to go to school. She like is
- 15:14Speaker 1: walking basically in the middle of the street. I guess
- 15:17Speaker 1: to avoid him because he's on the sidewalk. So she
- 15:20Speaker 1: passes him, trying her best, like not to look at him.
- 15:22Speaker 1: But then she shifts her eyes and sees that he's
- 15:25Speaker 1: staring at her by the way his brown hair like
- 15:28Speaker 1: a short beard and like piercing blue eyes. She stops
- 15:33Speaker 1: and they stare at each other for a second, and
- 15:36Speaker 1: then she just kind of takes off in a panic,
- 15:38Speaker 1: and as she does, she's still thinking about his eyes.
- 15:41Speaker 1: We fades to black. We hear someone say Lane. We
- 15:46Speaker 1: fade in and see that Lane is still outside. I
- 15:48Speaker 1: guess she just ran away and then stops somewhere, and
- 15:52Speaker 1: three girls are approaching her, including that nicer one that
- 15:55Speaker 1: was comforting Judy, you know the other day when Judy
- 15:58Speaker 1: got that email from the dead girl and the meaner
- 16:02Speaker 1: girl that was also a companying Judy, and she has
- 16:05Speaker 1: long brown hair. The nicer one has short brown hair.
- 16:07Speaker 1: And then also Judy is there as well, who has
- 16:09Speaker 1: like puffy brown hair and like pigtails. I think before
- 16:13Speaker 1: you continue, I just wanted to mention that this episode,
- 16:16Speaker 1: because I'm watching, I don't think i'm watching an official translation,
- 16:19Speaker 1: but for some reason, this episode is translated like really
- 16:22Speaker 1: really poorly, like so poorly that this was hard because
- 16:27Speaker 1: there were so many times where a character just says
- 16:29Speaker 1: like okay, and it's translated as wow, that sounds really good,
- 16:33Speaker 1: let's do that or something like that. I don't know
- 16:35Speaker 1: what the fuck is going on. Also, they decided that
- 16:38Speaker 1: Judy is gonna be Julie in this episode, but I
- 16:40Speaker 1: don't think that's right, so I'm gonna keep calling her Judy.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I think all the other characters' names are correct, but
- 16:45Speaker 1: it was pizzing me off. So if you are listening,
- 16:48Speaker 1: to this and you're like, wow, this doesn't feel like
- 16:50Speaker 1: what I saw at all when I was watching it.
- 16:51Speaker 1: It's because I don't know Japanese and I'm trying really
- 16:55Speaker 1: hard to figure out what they're actually saying versus what
- 16:59Speaker 1: this translation is telling me that they're saying. So I
- 17:02Speaker 1: am sorry if I get things wrong. I am doing
- 17:04Speaker 1: the best that I can, but it's not good enough anyway.
- 17:08Speaker 1: So the three girls are approaching her. The nicer girl
- 17:11Speaker 1: is waving to her and she says morning, and Lane's like,
- 17:15Speaker 1: good morning. The long haired girl says, I'm right, see
- 17:19Speaker 1: what I mean. Judy says it couldn't have been her.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Lane's like what. The nice girl continues to walk up
- 17:26Speaker 1: to her and says, oh, cut it out, don't tease
- 17:27Speaker 1: her like that. The other two girls kind of turned
- 17:30Speaker 1: to each other and chuckle, and the nice girl puts
- 17:32Speaker 1: her hand on Lane's shoulder and says, it's nothing, come on,
- 17:35Speaker 1: let's go Meane's like okay, Judy says, but Alice, she
- 17:39Speaker 1: really Alice. The nice girl cuts her off and just
- 17:42Speaker 1: says come on. Laane kind of turns slightly to Judy
- 17:46Speaker 1: and then back a couple of times, like she's trying
- 17:49Speaker 1: to say something, but she doesn't know what to do,
- 17:50Speaker 1: and finally Judy's like what, Lane says, are you still
- 17:55Speaker 1: getting emails? Judy's like emails? Lane says, you know from
- 18:00Speaker 1: she says son. Jerry's like, oh that, no, I haven't.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Alice says Lane, you mean you got that prank email too.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Judy's like what. The other girl, who has no name, says,
- 18:12Speaker 1: why do you ask? Lane looks down for a second
- 18:16Speaker 1: and then says, never mind. I was just curious. Jerry's
- 18:20Speaker 1: like about what about the emails? Judy, I don't understand.
- 18:24Speaker 1: The other girl says, you know what? She does look
- 18:27Speaker 1: like her. Jerry's like huh. The girl continues Lane, what
- 18:32Speaker 1: were you doing last night? Lane's like, huh, Judy, I
- 18:37Speaker 1: think we are just getting a voice over here says
- 18:39Speaker 1: see I told you. Alice is like, come on, it
- 18:43Speaker 1: wasn't her. The other girl says, right, it looks nothing
- 18:46Speaker 1: like her. Geez, make up your mind. Other girl Judy
- 18:49Speaker 1: makes kind of this disappointed eh noise, and Lane says what.
- 18:54Speaker 1: The other girl says, we were partying at Siberia last
- 18:57Speaker 1: night and we saw a girl that looked exactly like you.
- 19:00Speaker 1: They were partying at a club. Laane is quiet for
- 19:03Speaker 1: a second, and then she says, Siberia, Yeah, Judy's like,
- 19:08Speaker 1: we were scared at first, but we all finally got
- 19:10Speaker 1: up the courage to go there. The other girl says, Oh,
- 19:12Speaker 1: come on, it wasn't such a big deal. Alice is like, oh,
- 19:15Speaker 1: come on, you were scared too. She turns to Lane.
- 19:18Speaker 1: It's a new club that plays really great hardcore techno
- 19:21Speaker 1: for the hip young crowd. Who are these people? Lane
- 19:25Speaker 1: stares at her, Me too, Lane, what the fuck is
- 19:28Speaker 1: going on? Alice continues, And you know, there was a
- 19:31Speaker 1: girl there who looked a little like you. Lane says,
- 19:34Speaker 1: but last night I was Alice cuts her off. I
- 19:37Speaker 1: believe you. There's no way it was you. I gotta
- 19:39Speaker 1: admit though, I didn't get that close of a look
- 19:41Speaker 1: at her. But she was wearing these like really wild
- 19:44Speaker 1: clothes and copping in attitude, shooting people out all night right.
- 19:48Speaker 1: The other girl says, Yeah, she's like the total opposite
- 19:51Speaker 1: of you. Jerdy says, but I saw her. I've got
- 19:54Speaker 1: an idea. Come with us next time. The other girl
- 19:58Speaker 1: laughs and is like, and then we really make sure.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Alice says, cut it out. You're just making fun of her.
- 20:04Speaker 1: I hate these people. The other girl's like, you know,
- 20:07Speaker 1: maybe when Lane goes to the club, her personality does
- 20:10Speaker 1: a complete one eighty, Alice says, or maybe she just
- 20:13Speaker 1: have a good time. Jerny's like, what do you say
- 20:16Speaker 1: you afraid? Or what the other girl says, we might
- 20:20Speaker 1: even find someone really nice. What Alice is like, I
- 20:24Speaker 1: bet there's a really fun girl inside that shell, just
- 20:26Speaker 1: dying to get out, right Lane? Fuck? Lane doesn't say anything. Yeah, okay,
- 20:32Speaker 1: hold on there. I have so many questions, Hey, what
- 20:36Speaker 1: what do you mean middle schoolers are going to a
- 20:38Speaker 1: club like a techno club? What you can go to
- 20:41Speaker 1: a No, I don't believe that. I'm pretty sure that
- 20:43Speaker 1: middle schoolers, even in Japan don't go to techno clubs. No, no, no, no,
- 20:51Speaker 1: I'm sorry no. But also, like just the whole atmosphere
- 20:55Speaker 1: of this friend group, I do not like them. I mean,
- 20:59Speaker 1: there's it's likely making fun of Lane, but then also
- 21:02Speaker 1: like Alice is taking it like they're really really making
- 21:05Speaker 1: fun of Lane, which makes me think that they make
- 21:06Speaker 1: fun of a lot of people. I don't like them.
- 21:09Speaker 1: These are people I would stay away from Lane, Stay
- 21:12Speaker 1: away from them. They go to clubs with techno and
- 21:16Speaker 1: they're middle schoolers and I'm confused. Also, I'm pretty sure
- 21:20Speaker 1: they saw that girl that we saw in the beginning
- 21:23Speaker 1: of the episode at the club, and she really did
- 21:26Speaker 1: look a lot like Lane, So I'm sure that's important.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Let's continue now. We cut to this computer screen with
- 21:34Speaker 1: this blurry image of like that lemon drug friend thing
- 21:37Speaker 1: that we met in a bottle, and the screen says excella,
- 21:41Speaker 1: which we learned that's what it's called. On the screen,
- 21:44Speaker 1: there's also a bunch of words which I don't think
- 21:46Speaker 1: relate to what's going on the anime, but I'm going
- 21:49Speaker 1: to read them to you because they're interesting. So it
- 21:52Speaker 1: says anti VEGF humanoid monoclonal antibody. What the anti VGF
- 22:01Speaker 1: antibody is an inhibitor of an geogenesis in parentheses blood
- 22:07Speaker 1: vessel growth that may hinder the growth of cancer tumors
- 22:12Speaker 1: by starving their blood supply. Genetech is investigating this antibody
- 22:19Speaker 1: in phase two. Vascular endothelial growth factor VEGF is a
- 22:28Speaker 1: natural protein that promotes and geogenesis blood vessel growth. VGF
- 22:36Speaker 1: could potentially benefit patients who have a heart that is
- 22:40Speaker 1: functioning but has blocked blood supply due to r fear
- 22:47Speaker 1: riosceroicorn R. I don't know, guys, that's what it says. Again.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I don't think this makes any sense with what we're
- 22:57Speaker 1: about to learn, but I want it to to tell
- 23:00Speaker 1: you it first, just because why not. It's on the
- 23:03Speaker 1: screen anyway, Over this computer screen with the ocella on it,
- 23:08Speaker 1: A voice says, a new type of smart drug on
- 23:11Speaker 1: the street called Sella uses nanomechanisms that oscillate at a
- 23:15Speaker 1: specific frequency within the body. We see another image of
- 23:19Speaker 1: the acella in its like spikey form, and the voice continues.
- 23:24Speaker 1: This triggers the secretion of a synthetic hormone. It's said
- 23:27Speaker 1: that when secreted, this hormone completely alters the response of
- 23:31Speaker 1: the human brain, making it seem as if one's awareness
- 23:34Speaker 1: is accelerated. Yes, he felt accelerated. I know not only
- 23:40Speaker 1: its awareness, but the workings of the brain itself are altered.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Multiplying the speed at which the brain calculates by a
- 23:46Speaker 1: factor of twelve. Uh. The nanomechanism itself is destroyed by
- 23:50Speaker 1: digestive juices. Within twenty four hours. We see the classroom now,
- 23:54Speaker 1: teachers writing on the board The voice continues, but it
- 23:57Speaker 1: is fading out now, but it's unknown how long it's affect.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Goodness lives in the brain. Laane is sitting in the
- 24:02Speaker 1: classroom watching the teacher. She hears her cell phone vibrating
- 24:06Speaker 1: and reaches into her desk for it. She's got a
- 24:08Speaker 1: red flip phone. By the way, they were the best.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Not really, She gasps. It's a text from Alice and
- 24:17Speaker 1: it says, let's have fun in Siberia tonight from Alice.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Lane sighs, and she looks over at Alice, who's sitting
- 24:24Speaker 1: at her desk, holding up her phone and winking at her.
- 24:27Speaker 1: She's Lane smiles awkwardly and types, I won't go tonight. Yeah. Yeah,
- 24:33Speaker 1: she sends it, and she looks real fucking worried. I
- 24:36Speaker 1: understand Lane. We see the psychedelic screen and says humans
- 24:40Speaker 1: are all connected. Sure. We cut to Lane walking down
- 24:45Speaker 1: like a school hall. We see her from outside of
- 24:47Speaker 1: the windows at first, and then we see her actually
- 24:50Speaker 1: in the hallway. Sun is streaming in and it's really overexposed,
- 24:54Speaker 1: as this show really enjoys. She stops walking just a
- 24:58Speaker 1: few feet from the stairs and to the right of
- 25:02Speaker 1: the stairs and to her there's like this door that's
- 25:05Speaker 1: cracked open slightly. I'm thinking it's like a utility closet
- 25:08Speaker 1: or something, because it looks really dark in there. I mean,
- 25:11Speaker 1: except for like this weird white thing like at the
- 25:14Speaker 1: bottom on the floor that we can see through the
- 25:16Speaker 1: crack door. I don't know what it looked like, kind
- 25:19Speaker 1: of like it just a bag or something like a
- 25:21Speaker 1: plastic bag. I don't know, It's just like a nondescript shape.
- 25:25Speaker 1: I was very confused. We start to pan up again,
- 25:28Speaker 1: so we're still looking at the blackness in the crack door.
- 25:32Speaker 1: For whatever reason, Lane is staring at this looking real
- 25:35Speaker 1: fucking freaked out. She squints because she needs glasses, and
- 25:39Speaker 1: we see that there's something in there. It's not fully black.
- 25:41Speaker 1: It looks like there's legs. So we're panning up on
- 25:45Speaker 1: these legs and we see a tour so now and
- 25:47Speaker 1: Lane's eyes widen and she gasps, Yeah, it's some guy. Actually,
- 25:52Speaker 1: I think it's a girl just standing in there for
- 25:55Speaker 1: some reason, just staring like really coldly, half hidden by
- 26:00Speaker 1: behind the door. Yeah. Lane gasps again, because yeah, why
- 26:04Speaker 1: is there just some person in the closet standing and
- 26:06Speaker 1: staring at her? The door opens more now and the
- 26:10Speaker 1: person starts to walk out towards Lane, and she's sweating,
- 26:14Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, these weird shadow figures like
- 26:16Speaker 1: emerge from the walls and they have like white squigglies
- 26:20Speaker 1: and patches in them. They're kind of like shadow people,
- 26:23Speaker 1: and they're also like super tall, and they like just
- 26:26Speaker 1: kind of walk past Lane and disappear. Okay. Lane kind
- 26:30Speaker 1: of follows them with her head, so she's kind of
- 26:32Speaker 1: turned her head and she turns back and gasps. That
- 26:36Speaker 1: person from the closet kind of unnaturally like moves closer
- 26:40Speaker 1: to her, like right up to her without walking, just
- 26:43Speaker 1: kind of like floats or something, just really quickly. It's
- 26:47Speaker 1: not good, guys, And we see their faces kind of
- 26:51Speaker 1: morphing back and forth between this really sinister smile and
- 26:54Speaker 1: a scream, kind of like the girl in the last
- 26:56Speaker 1: episode in the dream. Lane cowers because you gotta and
- 27:01Speaker 1: she closes her eyes and they just kind of pass
- 27:03Speaker 1: right through her and drift away, leaving her just totally
- 27:07Speaker 1: alone in this quiet hallway, just totally freaked out. We
- 27:10Speaker 1: fade back into the humming power lines on the white sky.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Wayne is walking probably home through those red blotchy shadows,
- 27:17Speaker 1: and she stops and gasps because she's doing that a
- 27:20Speaker 1: lot today. And there's this vehicle parked kind of at
- 27:23Speaker 1: the corner. It looks like a little bit up ahead
- 27:26Speaker 1: of her, and it looks like a box truck. To me,
- 27:28Speaker 1: it looks like it is like an ambulance because it's
- 27:31Speaker 1: white and red, white on top and red on the bottom.
- 27:34Speaker 1: It just I thought it was an ambulance. It's not.
- 27:36Speaker 1: It's some sort of box truck. But still apparently it's
- 27:40Speaker 1: not usually there. It says something on it, but it's
- 27:42Speaker 1: not translated, so I can't know for sure what it is,
- 27:46Speaker 1: but I'm thinking that it is in front of her house.
- 27:49Speaker 1: And there's a guy with kind of long black hair
- 27:52Speaker 1: standing at the gate of maybe her house. He like
- 27:55Speaker 1: scratches his head and sighs. Layne walks up kind of
- 27:58Speaker 1: to the back of the truck and he no, this
- 28:00Speaker 1: is her In turns and he's like, hey, is this
- 28:03Speaker 1: your house, kid? Lane nods just a little bit like
- 28:06Speaker 1: for yes, and the guy's like, oh, great, I have
- 28:08Speaker 1: a delivery for you. I'll loaded. Could you get the
- 28:10Speaker 1: gate for me. Lane opens the gate and starts to
- 28:12Speaker 1: walk up the stairs. As this guy is taken out
- 28:15Speaker 1: a box, we see him now set down three boxes
- 28:19Speaker 1: and he holds a packing slip out to her. I
- 28:21Speaker 1: guess a recedy thing, and I can't read most of
- 28:25Speaker 1: it because it's in Japanese, but I can tell you
- 28:27Speaker 1: that it is a novvey that's in the box because
- 28:30Speaker 1: that is in English, which, if you remember, is her computer.
- 28:34Speaker 1: He also has a pen, which is nice, and he says, there,
- 28:37Speaker 1: could you sign this for me please? We cut back
- 28:39Speaker 1: a bit and we see that he's in her house
- 28:41Speaker 1: actually kind of like in the entrance way. It's really
- 28:44Speaker 1: dark in there. We've got light kind of streaming in
- 28:46Speaker 1: from the door, but it's just kind of this weird
- 28:48Speaker 1: dark space and there's a lot of boxes. And also
- 28:51Speaker 1: I don't usually let delivery men into my house, so
- 28:54Speaker 1: I'm not sure what's going on. Anyway, Lane puts the
- 28:56Speaker 1: slip on a box so you know she can sign it,
- 29:00Speaker 1: and the guy says, this Novee's so cool. Lane's like
- 29:05Speaker 1: what She hands him back the slip. The guy says fast,
- 29:08Speaker 1: easy to use, I wish, and then he's like, oh thanks,
- 29:12Speaker 1: and he takes the slip. So is this all for you? Lane?
- 29:15Speaker 1: Isn't looking at him. She's kind of looking at the floor,
- 29:17Speaker 1: and she says, I don't know. The guy's like, huh,
- 29:21Speaker 1: then you don't even know what this all is, Laane knots.
- 29:24Speaker 1: The guy continues, it's a top of the line nobby
- 29:27Speaker 1: fully loaded too. A computer with this kind of horsepower
- 29:30Speaker 1: can handle any kind of software without ever crashing, even
- 29:33Speaker 1: on the wire. As for me, I only use a
- 29:36Speaker 1: home brewed system and it doesn't even hold a candles this.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Lane's like, it doesn't matter. I don't know anything about it.
- 29:43Speaker 1: You asked your dad, remember. The guy kind of chuckles
- 29:46Speaker 1: and is like, well you will soon enough. Well bye,
- 29:49Speaker 1: He walks out, bows and then closes the door behind him. Lane,
- 29:53Speaker 1: alone in the dark house, looks down at the computer,
- 29:56Speaker 1: and I noticed that we've got some art issues here,
- 29:59Speaker 1: because one of her eyes is really heavily inked and
- 30:01Speaker 1: the other one is nuts. But whatever. We again see
- 30:04Speaker 1: her stuffed animals on the windowsill, and it's night. She's
- 30:08Speaker 1: sitting kind of back, like lounging on her futon, wearing
- 30:11Speaker 1: that bear onesie from the last episode, and she hears
- 30:14Speaker 1: something outside and like a guest looks up. Now we
- 30:17Speaker 1: see her walking down the stairs in her bear hoodie,
- 30:19Speaker 1: and her parents are just like standing in the hallway
- 30:22Speaker 1: at the bottom of the stairs, kissing motionlessly, like they're
- 30:26Speaker 1: not moving at all, Like is that how people kiss?
- 30:28Speaker 1: I don't think so. Anyway, She just kind of stares
- 30:32Speaker 1: at them. She hasn't come all the way downstairs or anything.
- 30:35Speaker 1: And yeah, her dad kind of lifts his head when
- 30:38Speaker 1: he realizes that she's there, and they stop kissing. Her
- 30:41Speaker 1: dad says, your nobby came today right. Lane's in the hallway,
- 30:44Speaker 1: so I think so. Her mom just kind of starts
- 30:47Speaker 1: to walk away and is like, get that mess cleaned
- 30:49Speaker 1: up soon. Okay, wow. Her dad continues, what do you
- 30:52Speaker 1: say we get this set up for you after dinner.
- 30:54Speaker 1: He starts to kind of adjust his tie. He's like
- 30:56Speaker 1: getting ready to take it off. To be honest, I'm
- 30:58Speaker 1: interested to see how it open. Whreads myself. Lane finishes
- 31:02Speaker 1: walking down the stairs and says dad. Her dad's like what,
- 31:06Speaker 1: Lane says, could you maybe set this up for me
- 31:10Speaker 1: right now? Her Dad's like what, Why are you in
- 31:14Speaker 1: such a hurry? Lane just stares at him. Her Dad's like, Lane,
- 31:21Speaker 1: He turns slightly and the light catches his glasses. Okay,
- 31:26Speaker 1: all right, so they're gonna set it up. We get
- 31:28Speaker 1: to a streetlight outside, and then we pan up to
- 31:31Speaker 1: Lane's house because it's kind of up on maybe a
- 31:34Speaker 1: hill or something. It's interesting though, because the house is
- 31:37Speaker 1: totally dark except for her window. We hear her dad say,
- 31:40Speaker 1: a kid's navy like the one you have can't be
- 31:42Speaker 1: used forever. He is doing something at her desk, maybe
- 31:46Speaker 1: probably setting up the computer, but we're looking at his
- 31:48Speaker 1: back so we can't really tell. He continues, communication is essential.
- 31:52Speaker 1: The information highway is the key. You have to keep
- 31:55Speaker 1: up with the times, and for that you need a
- 31:58Speaker 1: state of the art, high end understand Lane, Lane just stares.
- 32:04Speaker 1: She does a lot of that. Her dad presses his
- 32:06Speaker 1: hand on a key, maybe it's like the start key
- 32:10Speaker 1: or something, and we see a blue screen with a
- 32:13Speaker 1: light blue orb that drops down and there's like a
- 32:16Speaker 1: little ripples sort of like it's a pond I don't know,
- 32:21Speaker 1: and some sort of weird computer icon that I don't
- 32:24Speaker 1: know how to describe, and on the screen it says
- 32:28Speaker 1: copland Os Enterprise in English. Her dad, who was sitting
- 32:32Speaker 1: down and typing, turns to her and says, come here,
- 32:35Speaker 1: and he gets out of the seat and she comes
- 32:37Speaker 1: over and sits down. Her dad continues register yourself as
- 32:41Speaker 1: the machines user. Lane takes her barehood off her head
- 32:44Speaker 1: and she just stares at the computer blankly. Her dad's like,
- 32:49Speaker 1: try talking to it. What Lane says Hello NAVI in English,
- 32:54Speaker 1: which is weird. A screen comes up that has like
- 32:57Speaker 1: a bunch of different I guess options. You could probably
- 32:59Speaker 1: click on set login, use her name, colonel, use voice wave,
- 33:03Speaker 1: and network connect, and at the bottom it says product
- 33:07Speaker 1: of Tachibana Lab, which might be important. I don't remember.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Now the screen says authorized user. Welly, calm now, I
- 33:15Speaker 1: think that's supposed to say welcome, but I'm not sure
- 33:18Speaker 1: because it's all in English, but it's not spelled right.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Welcome is spelled w E L E com, so I
- 33:25Speaker 1: don't know. It's probably welcome, but I don't know for sure.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Her dad leans down with that done. The nobby's officially yours.
- 33:32Speaker 1: But she didn't do anything. She just said hello. He
- 33:35Speaker 1: rubs her shoulder. You can show it off to your
- 33:37Speaker 1: friends now, he chuckles and starts to walk away. Now
- 33:41Speaker 1: we see moving words across the bottom of the computer
- 33:43Speaker 1: screen that say, Wellyclom Coplin Enterprise os Lane, Okay. Her
- 33:49Speaker 1: dad puts his hand on the door handle and he
- 33:52Speaker 1: opens it, and we see her sister is in the doorway,
- 33:55Speaker 1: just staring into the room blankly, which is weird because
- 33:58Speaker 1: I guess before he opened it was staring at the door. Langley.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on with her. And he's
- 34:04Speaker 1: just like, oh, what is it, Mika? Something wrong? Okay?
- 34:08Speaker 1: Her name's Mika. She turns and she just walks away
- 34:12Speaker 1: and sighs. The dad leaves kind of in the other direction,
- 34:15Speaker 1: but seems a little bit like what the fuck, Mika.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Now we see Lane typing and she says, Navi, do
- 34:22Speaker 1: I have mail? Navi says Lane has no mail? Ah, yeah,
- 34:27Speaker 1: I bet her computer isn't gonna get you more mail, Lane.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Someone should have explained that to her. At this point,
- 34:33Speaker 1: her cell phone starts to ring, and she looks up
- 34:35Speaker 1: at her uniform and bag that are lying on her bed,
- 34:38Speaker 1: and she just kind of stares for a minute, and
- 34:41Speaker 1: she sighs and goes over to get it. She takes
- 34:44Speaker 1: her cell phone out of the pocket of her like
- 34:46Speaker 1: jacket for her uniform, and there's a text fram Alice
- 34:49Speaker 1: that says, Lane, where are you? We're waiting for you?
- 34:53Speaker 1: Be sure to come fuck them? She says she wasn't
- 34:56Speaker 1: gonna go. Lane stares at the phone, look in a
- 34:59Speaker 1: litt anoid and then sighs and looks at the computer. Yeah,
- 35:04Speaker 1: leave her alone. We see that psychedelic screen now that
- 35:07Speaker 1: says why don't you come here soon? Because she doesn't
- 35:11Speaker 1: want to when she's a middle schooler. Now we see
- 35:15Speaker 1: I guess cars maybe stopped at a light, and a
- 35:19Speaker 1: shot of people walking at a low, slightly Dutch angle
- 35:23Speaker 1: in like bright city with lots of street signs and
- 35:26Speaker 1: billboards and shit. So probably Tokyo, but I think that's
- 35:29Speaker 1: kind of where we are. Anyway. We hear a voice
- 35:31Speaker 1: that I'm pretty sure as Alice say, yeah, turn left
- 35:34Speaker 1: of the corner. Lane is walking looking around. She's wearing
- 35:40Speaker 1: like a I think it's like a pinkage jacket with
- 35:42Speaker 1: like a black shirt underneath and like a long red skirt,
- 35:47Speaker 1: and it like doesn't look like a great area. I mean,
- 35:50Speaker 1: it's also kind of late. So there's like this drunk
- 35:52Speaker 1: guy like standing bracing himself against a wall, and like
- 35:55Speaker 1: a young affectionate couple embracing eh, I mean that guess
- 36:00Speaker 1: that's not so bad. But uh. We hear Alice say
- 36:04Speaker 1: keep going straight. Lane looks up and we hear Alice
- 36:08Speaker 1: from the phone say see it. In front of her
- 36:11Speaker 1: is a big concrete building with not very many windows
- 36:14Speaker 1: and some sort of neon sign that says Siberia Cafe
- 36:18Speaker 1: and Club on it. Lane says, yeah. We hear Alice say,
- 36:23Speaker 1: we're in the basement. Okay. We cut to a red
- 36:26Speaker 1: door in a stairwell. The camera pans and we see
- 36:29Speaker 1: that Lane is standing on the stairs kind of above it,
- 36:32Speaker 1: looking down at it, and she looks pretty apprehensive. Why
- 36:35Speaker 1: didn't they just all go together at least? Now? We
- 36:38Speaker 1: hear a voice say hey, sister, and then someone else say,
- 36:42Speaker 1: you're blocking the stairs. Lane looks behind her and there's
- 36:45Speaker 1: two younger boys and a girl standing there, and Lane's
- 36:48Speaker 1: like sorry, and she moves over to the side. The
- 36:51Speaker 1: kids start to walk past her, and one of the
- 36:54Speaker 1: boys says, if you do it that way, you're just
- 36:56Speaker 1: gonna get spotted by Information Control right off the bats.
- 36:59Speaker 1: At first I thought he was talking to Lane, but
- 37:01Speaker 1: I don't think so. I think we're just hearing part
- 37:02Speaker 1: of a conversation because the other boy says, don't you
- 37:05Speaker 1: think it's okay if you're under attack? And then the
- 37:07Speaker 1: girl's like, hey, let's go over to the game center.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Now we see a disco ball and some spot lights,
- 37:14Speaker 1: like moving around and stuff. We cut to a close
- 37:17Speaker 1: up of Lane like looking around, and we hear Alice say, geez,
- 37:21Speaker 1: what took you so long? People are dancing silhouetted, mostly
- 37:26Speaker 1: under these bright lights. And then I'm pretty sure that
- 37:29Speaker 1: girl that we don't know the name of says aren't
- 37:31Speaker 1: you usually in bed? Bye? Now? Lane? And laughs they're great.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Jury's like, oh, Lane, don't you have any other clothes
- 37:38Speaker 1: you can wear? This is a party, you know. Fuck yeah.
- 37:42Speaker 1: And also they're really fucking dressed up. I mean they're
- 37:45Speaker 1: not dressed totally immodestly, but they don't look like they're
- 37:50Speaker 1: wearing outfits that I be okay with, like middle school wearing.
- 37:53Speaker 1: They just look very grown up. It's kind of creeping
- 37:56Speaker 1: me out. A little Lane is also wearing like a
- 37:58Speaker 1: knit hat and she looks really embarrassed by this, which
- 38:01Speaker 1: fuck them, so she takes it off. Alice says, I'll
- 38:05Speaker 1: hope you find something next time. Okay, I hate them.
- 38:09Speaker 1: We hear that other girl say, you think we'd recognize
- 38:12Speaker 1: her dressed up? Andreedy's like, hey, Alice, Alice says, what
- 38:17Speaker 1: we cut to a close up of a guy's profile
- 38:19Speaker 1: looking down and maybe like something is wrong with him,
- 38:22Speaker 1: just real quick for a second. Enjrody says, I guess
- 38:24Speaker 1: the girl we saw the other night wasn't Lane after all.
- 38:27Speaker 1: That other girl is like, that's what I've been trying
- 38:30Speaker 1: to tell you. Lane isn't anything like her at all.
- 38:32Speaker 1: That girl had attitude, she wouldn't put up with anything.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Lane is kind of looking at the floor and she says,
- 38:38Speaker 1: and she really looked that much like me. Jerdy's like, yeah,
- 38:42Speaker 1: I thought it really was you. Lane's like, oh, we
- 38:46Speaker 1: hear just like this really distant boom and Lane looks
- 38:50Speaker 1: up and she's like huh, And then we see a
- 38:52Speaker 1: light get shot out. Okay, so obviously there's so many
- 38:56Speaker 1: shooting things. So everybody just erupts into panic as you do.
- 39:01Speaker 1: People are like just running for their lives as our
- 39:03Speaker 1: group of girls just stands by the wall looking really
- 39:06Speaker 1: scared because there were children, and a table gets knocked
- 39:10Speaker 1: over in the commotion and then Jerdy falls on the floor,
- 39:13Speaker 1: which doesn't make any sense because they were standing by
- 39:14Speaker 1: the wall, so I assume they want me to think
- 39:17Speaker 1: that she got pushed by someone who's running away, but
- 39:19Speaker 1: that doesn't make any sense, and there's no animation to
- 39:22Speaker 1: show what happened, so I don't understand this at all,
- 39:26Speaker 1: and it pissed me off anyway. That girl whatever her
- 39:30Speaker 1: name is and Alice run over to her and like
- 39:32Speaker 1: kneel down, and Alice is like Judy and they start
- 39:34Speaker 1: to help her up. Lane hasn't moved. She's still standing
- 39:37Speaker 1: by the wall, looking really terrified because this is kind
- 39:39Speaker 1: of terrifying, and I guess she's looking at blood as
- 39:44Speaker 1: it spreads across the floor. We hear someone breathing really heavy,
- 39:52Speaker 1: and there's this guy standing hunched over. He's got a gun.
- 39:56Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it's a gun. We can't really see
- 39:59Speaker 1: exactly that the it is a gun, but he has
- 40:02Speaker 1: a laser sights coming from it, so it's got like
- 40:06Speaker 1: a laser line that's hitting the floor in front of him,
- 40:09Speaker 1: so it's most likely a gun. And there are two
- 40:12Speaker 1: people motionless on the floor in front of him. For
- 40:15Speaker 1: whatever reason, we don't see blood here, but I'm assuming
- 40:19Speaker 1: that there is some because we just saw it spreading
- 40:21Speaker 1: across the floor. Anyway, the man with the gun is
- 40:25Speaker 1: just panting, looking like really freaked out and sweating. I
- 40:29Speaker 1: guess during all of this, Alice and the other girl
- 40:32Speaker 1: walked away from Lane. They're both like holding Judy up
- 40:36Speaker 1: and they're just on the other side of the room now,
- 40:38Speaker 1: and Alice turns back and she's like Lane. The other
- 40:41Speaker 1: girl says, why is she just standing there? I think
- 40:44Speaker 1: she just witnessed people being killed, so probably that. Alice
- 40:48Speaker 1: hands Judy to the other girl and says, Mika, take
- 40:51Speaker 1: care of Judy. Okay, that's her name, and she starts
- 40:54Speaker 1: to run back towards Lane, and Mika's like Alice. The
- 40:58Speaker 1: shooter is still hunched over in the middle of the room,
- 41:01Speaker 1: trying to catch his breath, and then suddenly he just
- 41:04Speaker 1: whips his head around to look at Lane, and he says,
- 41:07Speaker 1: what are you looking at? Alice at this point runs
- 41:11Speaker 1: over and puts her arms around Lane and is like, Lane, hurry.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Lene is just staring at the guy though not moving.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Alice says, wake up, come on, Lane. We see blood
- 41:21Speaker 1: spreading across the floor. We get a close up of
- 41:24Speaker 1: one of Lane's eyes and she just looks terrified. Alice
- 41:27Speaker 1: is shaking her now, trying to get her to break
- 41:31Speaker 1: contact with this whole mess, and she says, Lane, Lane, please.
- 41:36Speaker 1: The guy says, just get out of here. That's a
- 41:39Speaker 1: good idea. A red spotlight, I guess, because you know
- 41:42Speaker 1: there are like spotlights moving around the room. Just happens
- 41:44Speaker 1: to land on Lane and Alice and the guy gasps
- 41:47Speaker 1: because he finally gets a good look at her. Yeah,
- 41:50Speaker 1: he looks freak the fuck out. And he just starts
- 41:53Speaker 1: to back away, and he says, what why are you
- 41:57Speaker 1: making me do this? What right do you have? I
- 42:00Speaker 1: just want to clear my head, my head. You don't understand.
- 42:04Speaker 1: You just don't understand. You don't know anything about this.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I don't know anything. That's your gun, that's not my gun.
- 42:11Speaker 1: It's got nothing to do with me. Just leave me
- 42:13Speaker 1: out of it. Just leave me out of it. The
- 42:16Speaker 1: wired can never interfere with the real world. Just leave
- 42:19Speaker 1: me out of it. Who the fuck are you? Lane
- 42:22Speaker 1: starts to walk towards him. Fuck. Alice is like Lane.
- 42:28Speaker 1: The guy, who is continuing to freak out further lifts
- 42:32Speaker 1: his gun and aims it at Lane, and he's just
- 42:34Speaker 1: crying and shaking as he does this, and just saying,
- 42:36Speaker 1: leave me out of it, Leave me out of it,
- 42:38Speaker 1: Leave me out of it, over and over again. As
- 42:40Speaker 1: he does he aims at her head. We see the
- 42:43Speaker 1: red sight dot on her now and it's shaking because
- 42:47Speaker 1: his hand is shaking, and he starts to pull the
- 42:49Speaker 1: trigger and the music cuts and Lane says, no, matter
- 42:53Speaker 1: where you are, everything is connected. The guy starts to
- 42:57Speaker 1: cry more and he moves moves the gun away from
- 43:01Speaker 1: Lane and he puts it in his mouth. We just
- 43:04Speaker 1: see that dot of red in his mouth. We get
- 43:07Speaker 1: a muted shot and blood hits Laine's face. He collapses
- 43:13Speaker 1: in slow motion, his tears hanging in the air as
- 43:15Speaker 1: he does, and Lane just stares at him and the
- 43:18Speaker 1: two other dead people on the floor as the disco
- 43:21Speaker 1: ball pulses overhead to be continued, and then we go
- 43:25Speaker 1: to the ending theme. Yeah, I think, okay, So closing
- 43:30Speaker 1: thoughts right, Wow, somebody died. Three people died, okay, So
- 43:40Speaker 1: I'm trying to think about what I need to say here.
- 43:42Speaker 1: So starting with that whole ending scene. Yeah, I don't
- 43:45Speaker 1: like her friends, not that they're her friends, I don't
- 43:48Speaker 1: know what they are, but I've I just like it
- 43:52Speaker 1: makes me uncomfortable because I've been around people like this
- 43:55Speaker 1: before that kind of don't feel like they like the person.
- 43:58Speaker 1: But for whatever reason, they're kind of keeping laying around. Well,
- 44:01Speaker 1: basically they wanted to see if she was that girl
- 44:03Speaker 1: or not, but there's just something about the way that
- 44:05Speaker 1: they're talking to her, all of them, that makes me like,
- 44:07Speaker 1: really uncomfortable. Also, again, this looks like an adults club
- 44:13Speaker 1: for adults who do drugs and shoot people. I don't
- 44:17Speaker 1: know if it's a good idea to have middle schoolers there.
- 44:20Speaker 1: How did these kids even get there? I mean, I
- 44:22Speaker 1: assume maybe they sneak out of the house. I was
- 44:24Speaker 1: thinking about Lane's perspective. I don't think anyone cares about her,
- 44:29Speaker 1: and I know that sounds we haven't seen a lot yet,
- 44:32Speaker 1: but we know her mom like doesn't even talk to her,
- 44:35Speaker 1: and her dad seems so interested in computers that I
- 44:38Speaker 1: don't know what kind of relationship they have when she's
- 44:41Speaker 1: not asking him for help with a computer. So I
- 44:45Speaker 1: kind of feel like she could just go and no
- 44:46Speaker 1: one would even notice, which makes me not happy. But anyway,
- 44:51Speaker 1: middle schoolers at a club, Yeah, So I hate that
- 44:56Speaker 1: she ended up having to be there for that. I
- 44:58Speaker 1: hate that they didn't take no fear answer and just
- 45:00Speaker 1: leave her alone. I know everyone's connected or whatever Lane
- 45:04Speaker 1: just said, and you're supposed to like hang out with people,
- 45:08Speaker 1: but this, this doesn't seem like it's a good hangout.
- 45:10Speaker 1: And yeah, that was really I don't know. But also
- 45:16Speaker 1: people are seeing Lane. It seems like we have a
- 45:20Speaker 1: set of characters that has seen Lane that shouldn't have
- 45:23Speaker 1: so that's weird. I'm sure this guy was on drugs.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Was he on asella like that other guy? Does it
- 45:30Speaker 1: make you paranoid too? Does it make you think you
- 45:32Speaker 1: see Lane? Is that a side effect? I don't know,
- 45:37Speaker 1: But uh, with everybody like running and these middle schoolers
- 45:40Speaker 1: just like hugging the wall and not knowing what to do,
- 45:43Speaker 1: it just made me feel really bad for them. And
- 45:46Speaker 1: I wish Lane didn't have to see this. But I
- 45:50Speaker 1: am a little bit confused about what she was doing
- 45:53Speaker 1: when she started walking up to this guy and said
- 45:55Speaker 1: that everyone was connected? What what would what? I mean?
- 46:01Speaker 1: She looked horrified before, So where did this confidence come from?
- 46:06Speaker 1: And what did she think she was saying? Because I
- 46:09Speaker 1: don't know, but he did, and it was enough to
- 46:12Speaker 1: freak him out enough that he killed himself because it
- 46:18Speaker 1: was so scary that everyone's connected, or because he realized
- 46:22Speaker 1: what he did when she said that, Yeah, something's something's
- 46:27Speaker 1: going on with Lane. That seems like because everything we've
- 46:31Speaker 1: seen so far is she's just like this kid, kind
- 46:35Speaker 1: of withdrawn, like she's not very worldly, she's not up
- 46:41Speaker 1: on trends. I just it was weird that this was Yeah,
- 46:47Speaker 1: but also like she sees ghosts maybe like that other
- 46:52Speaker 1: time was in the last episode was a dream? But
- 46:55Speaker 1: what the hell was going on in the hallway? Like what?
- 47:00Speaker 1: And I mean she looked freaked out, but I just
- 47:02Speaker 1: got the impression, especially because there was no follow through
- 47:05Speaker 1: with the rest of the episode. We didn't see her
- 47:07Speaker 1: like freaking out about it later. Is this just a
- 47:09Speaker 1: thing that happens to her? And also what was up
- 47:14Speaker 1: with the guy that was just standing there and watched
- 47:17Speaker 1: her when she passed by on the sidewalk? What is
- 47:21Speaker 1: going on? So I liked this episode. I hope that
- 47:24Speaker 1: you also liked this episode. Some of the art and
- 47:27Speaker 1: animation was not as good as the first episode, which, yeah,
- 47:31Speaker 1: it happens, and it was a little bit noticeable, especially
- 47:35Speaker 1: that scene where Lane was like talking to Alice and
- 47:39Speaker 1: Co before they got to the school. After Lane saw
- 47:43Speaker 1: that scary dude that was watching her, it was just
- 47:46Speaker 1: like there wasn't a lot of anything going on. It
- 47:49Speaker 1: was like a very flat like there wasn't a lot
- 47:51Speaker 1: of changes in perspective or anything, and it just wasn't
- 47:55Speaker 1: animated super well, so it was very noticeable. But what
- 47:57Speaker 1: are you gonna do. It's doing a good job where
- 48:00Speaker 1: it needs to do a good job where you have
- 48:02Speaker 1: like scary shit going on. So I won't fault it's
- 48:07Speaker 1: I'm having a little trouble with the sight I'm watching
- 48:09Speaker 1: this on, so hopefully I don't have a huge problem
- 48:12Speaker 1: where I cannot watch episodes that would be bad. But anyway, Yeah,
- 48:16Speaker 1: I liked this. I guess we'll see going forward what
- 48:19Speaker 1: the drug asella is about and why it makes you
- 48:22Speaker 1: see Lane, or why Lane is places that she shouldn't be,
- 48:27Speaker 1: or who allows middle schoolers to go to clubs? Can
- 48:31Speaker 1: you get in without an ID? I don't know. I
- 48:35Speaker 1: know this was in the late nineties, but I was
- 48:38Speaker 1: alive then and I could not go to clubs. So yeah,
- 48:42Speaker 1: I guess we'll find out that in more maybe not
- 48:45Speaker 1: in the coming weeks. I don't know what I'm saying anymore. Anyway,
- 48:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna go and do whatever it is I do. God,
- 48:54Speaker 1: I hope it's not something bad, and I will see
- 48:58Speaker 1: you in the future the next week. Yeah, let's do that.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Let's do another week as we do, and I hope
- 49:06Speaker 1: you have a really good whatever later webs
