Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about Sororiti Life with
• 0:04
Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia, Judice.
• 0:06
Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Fessler.
• 0:11
Speaker 3: Hi you guys, So welcome back to another week of
• 0:14
Speaker 3: Dirty Rush. I am jen Fessler, and today we have
• 0:18
Speaker 3: a couple of producers, a friend of the show. Say
• 0:21
Speaker 3: hello to Amy and Lily and Nicky. Amy and Lily
• 0:26
Speaker 3: are both producers. Nicki is our friend, and we are
• 0:28
Speaker 3: going to talk about lingo. We're going to talk about
• 0:31
Speaker 3: it because in the sense of you know, I was
• 0:35
Speaker 3: I graduated from University of Texas in nineteen ninety and
• 0:39
Speaker 3: Amy and Nicki went through in the nineties and Lily
• 0:42
Speaker 3: just graduated. So anyway, the point is that we have
• 0:45
Speaker 3: some we're multi generational here. We want to talk about
• 0:47
Speaker 3: how lingo has changed over the years, and we you know,
• 0:52
Speaker 3: we're I'm just going to like drop drop some expressions
• 0:56
Speaker 3: and I want you guys to tell me what you
• 0:57
Speaker 3: think that they mean and your take on them. But
• 1:00
Speaker 3: how some of the lingo is actually not even acceptable anymore. So,
• 1:04
Speaker 3: for instance, I am always amazed. So when I was
• 1:07
Speaker 3: going through, I was a Rushie. I went through rush
• 1:11
Speaker 3: I was a Rushy. Now and had it took me
• 1:13
Speaker 3: a while to figure out what a pn M is.
• 1:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, so now you can't use any terminology around the
• 1:21
Speaker 4: word rush rushy like it needs to be in this
• 1:25
Speaker 4: term like recruitment or P and M is like potential
• 1:28
  Speaker 4: new member everything.
• 1:30
Speaker 2: When you say you can't use like, what would happen
• 1:33
Speaker 2: to you if you used it?
• 1:35
Speaker 4: I mean, so I went to school in La so
• 1:37
Speaker 4: pretty like PC and you don't want you don't want,
• 1:40
Speaker 4: I think what comes along you get in action?
• 1:43
Speaker 2: No, I mean they didn't get a bed.
• 1:47
Speaker 5: I'm kidding some people would.
• 1:50
Speaker 4: I wouldn't say it was that harsh, but they want
• 1:53
Speaker 4: to promote like more inviting language and they don't want
• 1:55
Speaker 4: to seem like rush is associated with this idea of
• 1:58
Speaker 4: hazing in hazes sing like any kind of I mean,
• 2:02
Speaker 4: it's serious, any kind of inkling that there is any
• 2:06
Speaker 4: kind of hazing going on in a sorority. You are
• 2:08
Speaker 4: immediately reported and you're immediately put on like social probation,
• 2:11
Speaker 4: and it really doesn't happen anymore.
• 2:13
Speaker 5: But even so much as and.
• 2:16
Speaker 4: This is getting on a tangent, but even so much
• 2:19
Speaker 4: as there being a freshman versus a senior bust to
• 2:22
Speaker 4: the football game, it's considered hazing. It's considered like discriminating
• 2:27
Speaker 4: based on grade when that's considered hazing.
• 2:31
Speaker 1: But wouldn't pledge be the word that would suggest more hazing?
• 2:36
  Speaker 5: Yes?
• 2:37
Speaker 4: But I think this, Yeah rush rush is it's you
• 2:42
Speaker 4: use recruitment and you use potential new member, not yeah rushy.
• 2:46
Speaker 6: What does rush mean? I wonder where rush originates from.
• 2:49
Speaker 2: You're just rushing around to every house.
• 2:51
  Speaker 6: That's what everybody. I mean.
• 2:53
  Speaker 2: I don't know, right, but that's our generation. So let's
• 2:55
Speaker 2: stick into this a little bit more, guys. Okay, So,
• 2:58
Speaker 2: first of all, when we through in the eighties and nineties,
• 3:01
Speaker 2: it was rush. It was an active you were a
• 3:04
Speaker 2: rush e all these things. So then, Lily, again, can
• 3:08
Speaker 2: you say the words that are used now.
• 3:12
Speaker 4: Now it's potential new member and recruitment.
• 3:16
Speaker 2: What would you call somebody that's an active We would
• 3:18
  Speaker 2: say active active.
• 3:20
Speaker 4: Yeah, you're still allowed to say that because you're an
• 3:22
Speaker 4: active member, active member.
• 3:24
Speaker 2: Right, And going back to the hazing, it's all about hazing.
• 3:28
Speaker 2: Could you not do a party that was only juniors
• 3:30
  Speaker 2: and seniors?
• 3:31
Speaker 4: No, you could not do like we would want to
• 3:34
Speaker 4: have sisterhoods where it was just like freshman bonding and
• 3:38
Speaker 4: that was not a thing you could not do.
• 3:41
Speaker 5: Yeah, that was considered hazy.
• 3:43
Speaker 2: Really they do it in Texas where my kids go
• 3:45
  Speaker 2: to school.
• 3:46
Speaker 3: Yeah, well, Rachel, when I know that they were buses
• 3:48
Speaker 3: separated and you're not allowed to do that, like.
• 3:50
Speaker 4: You could say if it was really dicey, like if
• 3:54
Speaker 4: as a senior you could say.
• 3:55
Speaker 5: Freshmen in the back of the line.
• 3:56
Speaker 4: Because at UCLA are it was a big deal because
• 4:00
Speaker 4: UCLA our football stadium is in Pasadena where UCLA is
• 4:03
Speaker 4: in Westwood, so it's like an hour drive to get
• 4:05
Speaker 4: to our football stadium. And we would charter all these
• 4:08
Speaker 4: buses through your sorority. And of course seniors want to
• 4:12
Speaker 4: be on the first bus, the first to the game,
• 4:14
Speaker 4: first to the tailgate, and they'd be like, freshmen, get
• 4:17
Speaker 4: to the back of the line, get to the back
• 4:18
Speaker 4: of the bus. If you are caught saying that, you
• 4:20
Speaker 4: will be it's a big deal, like immediately to standards.
• 4:25
Speaker 4: Even worse because it's considered discriminating and hazing against younger members.
• 4:32
Speaker 2: Well, at least it's still called standards. That's what we used.
• 4:35
Speaker 2: I was on the standards committee.
• 4:36
Speaker 5: Ours was called NDC Membership Development.
• 4:39
Speaker 2: Committee, too many letters to remember.
• 4:41
  Speaker 3: No.
• 4:41
Speaker 2: Wait, so it's not called standards. No, but you just
• 4:45
Speaker 2: called it standards. Yeah, you called it standards. But give
• 4:47
Speaker 2: us again what the technical name.
• 4:49
Speaker 4: Was MDC Membership Development Committee Disciplinary.
• 4:53
  Speaker 3: Sorry, that's weird because I think I don't know. I
• 4:58
Speaker 3: didn't know that it was called anything but standard yards.
• 5:00
  Speaker 6: Really.
• 5:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's not disciplinary, it's development because it's all
• 5:04
Speaker 4: about developing the members.
• 5:06
Speaker 2: Are you allowed to have an event that is just pledges?
• 5:11
Speaker 5: No? You could not. That is hazing.
• 5:15
Speaker 2: Well, it's almost in my opinion.
• 5:18
Speaker 1: You're like, the whole point of being in a pledge
• 5:22
Speaker 1: class is to bond, like these are.
• 5:24
Speaker 2: Your sisters or your brothers.
• 5:26
Speaker 1: If you're in a fraternity, and so all of a
• 5:29
Speaker 1: sudden to then remove that.
• 5:33
Speaker 2: It almost defeats the purpose in my opinion.
• 5:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, and I will tell you because I have boys
• 5:39
Speaker 1: that fun fact go to Texas that they do plenty
• 5:44
Speaker 1: of things with their pledge class, whether it's mixers with
• 5:47
Speaker 1: other freshmen sororities or different.
• 5:50
Speaker 2: Things like that. So I wonder if it's just an
• 5:53
Speaker 2: UCLA thing. And yeah, because I think a lot of
• 5:55
Speaker 2: schools are still doing pledge whatever the name is now
• 5:59
Speaker 2: New Me whatever, it is events and how do you
• 6:03
Speaker 2: do big little But we'll get to that.
• 6:04
Speaker 3: So Jen, contain, you know, I was just thinking about
• 6:07
Speaker 3: because we're just talking about the hazing, and I mean
• 6:10
Speaker 3: back in the day when I was, you know, pledging,
• 6:15
Speaker 3: we had I don't know what would be if it
• 6:17
Speaker 3: wouldn't be allowed today, but there were things that happened.
• 6:19
Speaker 3: There was greased pigs that were you know, let go
• 6:22
Speaker 3: in the sorority house and things we had aware and.
• 6:25
Speaker 2: Wait, wait, wait, wait wait, we're going to need to
• 6:26
  Speaker 2: explain greased pigs.
• 6:27
Speaker 6: Very Texas, very Texas, very very very Texas.
• 6:31
Speaker 2: What does that mean an actual pig?
• 6:33
Speaker 6: Yes, the well, yes, it was just part of it.
• 6:36
Speaker 3: Like you had a there would be a grease pig
• 6:38
Speaker 3: and you have a force to like try to catch
• 6:40
  Speaker 3: the pig.
• 6:41
  Speaker 6: And I don't remember exactly.
• 6:43
Speaker 3: I think I probably blocked it, but I mean there
• 6:45
Speaker 3: were just a lot of things that were Nothing that
• 6:48
Speaker 3: was physically harmful, there was, but there was definitely stuff
• 6:51
Speaker 3: that we had to wear, people that we could or
• 6:54
  Speaker 3: couldn't talk to.
• 6:55
  Speaker 5: Wait.
• 6:56
Speaker 4: Jen, you're saying that as a pledge, you were you
• 7:00
Speaker 4: like this was kind of part of your initiation. You're
• 7:03
Speaker 4: responsible for catching this grease pig.
• 7:05
Speaker 3: No please, no, no, no, no, okay, don't all I
• 7:09
Speaker 3: know it was it was a method of torture.
• 7:11
Speaker 1: But there was clearinally some alcohol because you can't remember
• 7:13
Speaker 1: what she was doing exactly.
• 7:16
Speaker 2: So I'm sorry, there's an actual I just have to
• 7:18
Speaker 2: understand this for people listening. There was a pig, like
• 7:21
Speaker 2: a pig with crisco or something all over it, greasy,
• 7:26
Speaker 2: running through your sorority house.
• 7:28
  Speaker 6: Scare everyone.
• 7:29
Speaker 2: Well, Amy, we didn't do anything like that. Ours was
• 7:32
Speaker 2: like we had a sneak. We had a sneak, remember
• 7:35
Speaker 2: the Pledge sneak. And I think the job in the
• 7:37
Speaker 2: sneak was for us to like kidnap actives and like
• 7:42
Speaker 2: take them somewhere. And I do remember as a pledge
• 7:46
Speaker 2: people loading up in the back of a U haul,
• 7:48
Speaker 2: which I was like, no, no. But there were things.
• 7:51
Speaker 6: Well, I mean we had we had things that was worse.
• 7:53
  Speaker 6: They were worse.
• 7:54
Speaker 3: There was there was like at one point you went
• 7:56
Speaker 3: down and to some dark room and you were we
• 8:00
Speaker 3: were lined up and we were all gonna have to
• 8:01
Speaker 3: get on a scale and be lined up according to
• 8:04
Speaker 3: our weight. We didn't do this, actually did It was
• 8:07
Speaker 3: like a tactic but I mean, this is the stuff.
• 8:09
  Speaker 5: Imagine that's terrible.
• 8:11
Speaker 2: I know, imagine that they didn't actually do it. I
• 8:14
Speaker 2: thought they just scared you that they Yeah, it.
• 8:16
Speaker 6: Was a scare tactic.
• 8:17
Speaker 3: But I mean there was stuff like now you can't
• 8:20
Speaker 3: even go to sounds like you can't even say only
• 8:23
Speaker 3: freshmen on the bus.
• 8:24
Speaker 6: Like they a line.
• 8:25
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, because I think there's been so many hazing
• 8:29
Speaker 4: things and it's more frat oriented, but the sororities are
• 8:33
Speaker 4: always more regulated. And I yeah, I mean all this
• 8:38
Speaker 4: stuff you're saying. I also went to school in California,
• 8:41
Speaker 4: so it's different in that way too, But I mean
• 8:44
Speaker 4: grease pig and laning and lining up on weight.
• 8:46
Speaker 2: But was that Texas or was that Boston?
• 8:49
  Speaker 5: Oh?
• 8:49
  Speaker 6: I wasn't a sorority until I got to Texas.
• 8:51
Speaker 1: Okay, so West Tech well, but it sounds like Texas
• 8:53
Speaker 1: back then was almost more agro. But I can tell
• 8:57
Speaker 1: you now, like, unless my kids are just not telling
• 9:00
Speaker 1: me anything, it seems pretty tame.
• 9:02
Speaker 2: They're probably laughing right now, thinking I'm an idiot. And
• 9:04
Speaker 2: even in the nineties at Berkeley, very tame. We I
• 9:07
Speaker 2: don't recall one incident of really hate.
• 9:10
Speaker 3: You had to clean up after the upper classmen clean
• 9:13
Speaker 3: up any of that.
• 9:14
Speaker 2: No, no way, So what you did, But explain to us, Jen,
• 9:19
Speaker 2: what you're talking about. So you had to like clean
• 9:20
Speaker 2: their rooms, make their beds.
• 9:22
  Speaker 6: What after parties?
• 9:23
Speaker 3: We would have to go in and clean up and
• 9:25
Speaker 3: go clean the sorority house after whatever, or after mixers
• 9:28
Speaker 3: or matches or none of that.
• 9:30
Speaker 5: That is something that's completely like still around for sure
• 9:33
Speaker 5: for guys. For pledges. I mean they do terrible things
• 9:36
  Speaker 5: to guys.
• 9:37
Speaker 4: I know that for one of the frats on campus,
• 9:41
Speaker 4: they made them they wouldn't let them eat anything but
• 9:45
Speaker 4: what they called were butter dogs for a week. They
• 9:48
Speaker 4: didn't let them have access to their phones. They could
• 9:50
Speaker 4: only go to class, but couldn't get any food from
• 9:53
  Speaker 4: on campus.
• 9:53
Speaker 2: What are butter dogs?
• 9:55
Speaker 4: Butter dogs is like instead of meating the hot dog,
• 9:58
Speaker 4: there's a stick of butter ew yes. And they had
• 10:02
Speaker 4: to sleep on the floor every night for a week.
• 10:04
Speaker 4: And that was like their pledge week.
• 10:06
Speaker 2: We're gonna do an episode soon just all about pledging.
• 10:09
Speaker 2: But I can only speak to my experience. Does a
• 10:13
Speaker 2: pledge was it was heaven on earth, like you were
• 10:15
Speaker 2: just given gifts. I think I was braiding her hair.
• 10:17
Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, like you're just given gifts and you're
• 10:21
Speaker 2: you know, taken care of, like you're the queen of
• 10:23
Speaker 2: the world. So and we weren't allowed to have parties
• 10:26
Speaker 2: except you're like you could have parent parties, like your
• 10:30
Speaker 2: parents come to visit for you know, pledge Day or whatever.
• 10:34
Speaker 2: I don't know. So anyway, Jen keep going through. This
• 10:37
Speaker 2: is interesting comparing then and now.
• 10:39
Speaker 1: But I also think it's school to school, Like I
• 10:42
Speaker 1: don't even think it's that, and now I just think
• 10:44
  Speaker 1: it's different.
• 10:44
Speaker 3: And again, guys, I may not be remembering. I just
• 10:47
Speaker 3: remember it was like it wasn't like what you're describing.
• 10:49
Speaker 3: The one was like giving us gifts and it wasn't like,
• 10:51
Speaker 3: you know, we weren't being mothered. It was more like,
• 10:54
Speaker 3: you know, we were the lowly pledge class. But and
• 10:58
Speaker 3: you know, I'm just thinking about like back to like
• 11:00
Speaker 3: the lingo, how much things have really changed like back
• 11:04
Speaker 3: in the day. I don't there's so much of the lingo,
• 11:06
  Speaker 3: you guys that I don't. I don't understand why it
• 11:08
Speaker 3: had changed. So one of the most things, one of
• 11:10
Speaker 3: the ones that's the most curious for me is why
• 11:12
Speaker 3: do you go from big sister, little sister to big
• 11:15
  Speaker 3: and little.
• 11:16
Speaker 6: Did anyone explain that's a great question. It's so annoying.
• 11:20
Speaker 4: I think it's just like it's more just how we
• 11:23
Speaker 4: shorten every our generation shortans everything with texting and whatever.
• 11:26
Speaker 5: You're like, my big, my little.
• 11:27
Speaker 2: It's kind of you're big considered your is her technical name,
• 11:31
Speaker 2: your big sister, and you guys just call it big
• 11:36
Speaker 2: or do you not use the words?
• 11:37
Speaker 4: You never say big sister. You say she's my big
• 11:39
Speaker 4: and then you say my grand big. You don't see
• 11:41
Speaker 4: make Graham big sister like my g big and then
• 11:44
Speaker 4: you go my gg big.
• 11:45
Speaker 3: I can't that kind of I'm like, really, how lazy
• 11:48
  Speaker 3: can we be?
• 11:49
Speaker 6: We can't even say the word sister. I can't.
• 11:52
Speaker 3: And like even my friends when my friends are talking
• 11:54
Speaker 3: about their kids and they'll be like, oh, Janie's out
• 11:58
Speaker 3: with her big and I'm like, honey, you're big what okay,
• 12:02
Speaker 3: stop it, just say it a big sister from college.
• 12:05
  Speaker 6: I can't take it.
• 12:20
Speaker 2: Is the sisterhood of it all, for literally still sort
• 12:25
Speaker 2: of a big deal because I think in the you know,
• 12:28
Speaker 2: older girls here are era, it is about the sisterhood
• 12:33
Speaker 2: and all the things that come with that, do they
• 12:35
  Speaker 2: still play.
• 12:36
  Speaker 5: That up sisterhood?
• 12:38
Speaker 4: I just think it's kind of cringey sister like saying
• 12:41
Speaker 4: my sister my sisterhood, like she's my no one. It's
• 12:45
Speaker 4: like she's my sorority sister. No one really says that.
• 12:48
Speaker 4: But like there's certainly still the alliance that you have
• 12:51
Speaker 4: with other with your sorority sisters, like only having friend
• 12:56
Speaker 4: groups with that, you know, the clickiness, the only having
• 12:58
Speaker 4: friend groups are only friends within a certain sorority. That's
• 13:01
Speaker 4: all still relevant and like the loyalty to that is
• 13:04
Speaker 4: still there. But the whole idea of sisterhood and my
• 13:07
Speaker 4: sister is just kind of like that's.
• 13:10
Speaker 2: Interesting because if I was going to introduce Nicky to Jen,
• 13:12
Speaker 2: I would say, oh, this is my sorority sister, Nikki.
• 13:15
Speaker 2: So you guys don't say that anymore.
• 13:16
Speaker 5: And say we were in the same sorority in college.
• 13:18
Speaker 2: I would say we were in the same sorority in college.
• 13:20
Speaker 6: Well, Amy, you're clearly just not as cool as the
• 13:23
  Speaker 6: rest of.
• 13:24
Speaker 2: Us, Amy, you're so old fashioned.
• 13:26
Speaker 6: Old fashion. What about So we said, like, what about
• 13:31
Speaker 6: pledge trainer? Well do you use that still?
• 13:33
Speaker 2: Great question? Yes, we were all about the pledge trainer.
• 13:37
Speaker 2: Angie was my pledge trainer.
• 13:39
Speaker 6: Do you know what that is?
• 13:40
Speaker 5: This is the first time I've ever heard that.
• 13:42
Speaker 2: Somebody you think of somebody disliked. Yes, that sounds like.
• 13:46
Speaker 5: A made up thing. Is that really a thing?
• 13:48
Speaker 2: So the pledge trainer? Yeah, so that was an actual office.
• 13:52
Speaker 2: It is for the boys still today. And do they
• 13:55
Speaker 2: call it that pledge trainer?
• 13:56
Speaker 5: I have to think about this.
• 13:58
Speaker 4: It's another elongated it's like new member director or something.
• 14:04
Speaker 2: Oh my god, so our pledge trainer, yeah, new member director.
• 14:08
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 14:08
Speaker 2: Angie was our pledge trainer my year, and she was
• 14:11
Speaker 2: like in charge of the pledges, so she would like
• 14:15
Speaker 2: I think it was Angie. I feel like Molly maybe,
• 14:17
Speaker 2: I don't even remember who mine is. And they kind
• 14:20
Speaker 2: of like they're in charge of you, so they would
• 14:23
Speaker 2: like help you know what you're doing, and like like
• 14:26
Speaker 2: if you were in a meeting, I can kind of
• 14:27
Speaker 2: picture a sing in a circle and this pledge trainer
• 14:30
Speaker 2: is sort of running the meeting and teaching you things.
• 14:32
Speaker 2: And I think there was a binder. I feel like
• 14:34
Speaker 2: there was a binder of things we had to memorize
• 14:36
Speaker 2: of Kappa stuff, sort.
• 14:37
Speaker 1: Of all the violet, all the different facts. We took
• 14:40
Speaker 1: a test. Lily, what sorority were you?
• 14:43
Speaker 2: Can you sign in theta? Okay day? I love this.
• 14:46
Speaker 6: I love the comparison. Like just I like watching Lily's face.
• 14:49
Speaker 2: You didn't have a binder full of facts you had
• 14:51
Speaker 2: to memorize, like you know, we were. We began in
• 14:55
Speaker 2: mon Myth wherever Meth, Illinois, with flirtles everywhere.
• 15:00
Speaker 4: To be honest, it would have been helpful because we
• 15:03
Speaker 4: were expected to know like the Evening Grace and all
• 15:06
Speaker 4: these songs, and our sorority on campus was the most,
• 15:11
Speaker 4: like the most involved in terms of all the songs
• 15:13
Speaker 4: and rituals and our things. Like I talk to other
• 15:15
Speaker 4: girls and be like what you sing songs A New
• 15:17
Speaker 4: Chance and whatever. But like we were just expected to
• 15:22
Speaker 4: know it. And people would be like standing around still
• 15:24
Speaker 4: munths in and like mumbling the words of the Evening
• 15:27
Speaker 4: Grace because no one knew what I was.
• 15:29
Speaker 2: So when you say grace, was it very religious? You're
• 15:33
  Speaker 2: a sorority? No?
• 15:33
Speaker 4: No, no, yet That's what's interesting is there there were
• 15:37
Speaker 4: times where I would look at it was like kind
• 15:39
Speaker 4: of God oriented, or maybe it was like where they
• 15:41
Speaker 4: could scratched out something where it was saying God or
• 15:44
Speaker 4: but and then changed the wording. But it was it
• 15:48
Speaker 4: was just used as the word grace. But no, it
• 15:50
  Speaker 4: wasn't religious.
• 15:51
Speaker 2: It wasn't. It got more old timey, like not religious,
• 15:54
Speaker 2: but like the language was real old timey, right did
• 15:57
Speaker 2: you do all? And Nikki you can answer this too.
• 16:00
Speaker 2: Wear your letters, like would you wear a sweatshirt that
• 16:03
Speaker 2: said FDA or would you wear a sweatshirt that said
• 16:05
Speaker 2: KKG in your era? Because that was a hard no
• 16:09
Speaker 2: go for us in the ninety day. I don't even
• 16:12
Speaker 2: know if I had a Kappa sweatshirt. No, I didn't do.
• 16:15
Speaker 2: They make them. They totally make them, and it's like
• 16:18
Speaker 2: a huge thing. But at cal that would have been
• 16:21
Speaker 2: considered a bit embarrassing, Like you would never wear your
• 16:24
Speaker 2: in our era, I don't know about now.
• 16:26
Speaker 4: Wait, you guys would never wear merch with there are
• 16:30
Speaker 4: our whole businesses back.
• 16:33
Speaker 6: In the day. I was at Texas, I had all.
• 16:35
Speaker 6: I had so much A five stuff.
• 16:37
Speaker 2: Well, you know at Texas.
• 16:39
Speaker 1: So I have friends that like sm with kids at
• 16:41
Speaker 1: SMU and TCU And on the first day of school,
• 16:45
Speaker 1: at that point, rush is done and they wear their
• 16:47
Speaker 1: letters to the first day of class, which is like
• 16:50
Speaker 1: a gut wrench for the people who didn't get a bid,
• 16:53
Speaker 1: You almost don't want to go to school because they're
• 16:55
Speaker 1: like wearing that stuff proudly.
• 16:58
  Speaker 5: Yeah.
• 16:59
Speaker 4: Well, I mean it's a whole like we have merch orders.
• 17:03
Speaker 4: There's a whole merch chair about what clothes and t
• 17:07
Speaker 4: shirts and stuff and all has your letters on it.
• 17:10
Speaker 2: The only thing we would do is maybe wear a
• 17:12
Speaker 2: shirt that was like a party shirt. So like somebody
• 17:14
Speaker 2: might create a shirt that was like Kapa Sae party,
• 17:18
Speaker 2: But no way would you wear a sweatshirt that said
• 17:20
Speaker 2: KKG and that. This is in the nineties, so I don't.
• 17:23
Speaker 5: Know, you know, oh, I feel like that's so cute. Jen.
• 17:26
Speaker 4: The one thing I'll say with this is that the
• 17:28
Speaker 4: run rule is that you cannot drink in your letters.
• 17:32
Speaker 4: That's a total nogo. You can't drink in your life.
• 17:36
Speaker 2: So if you're going to the bars, you can't wear
• 17:38
  Speaker 2: your sweatshirt.
• 17:39
Speaker 4: Right, or if you're going to a football game and
• 17:40
Speaker 4: you have a you know, k.
• 17:42
Speaker 6: The difference now with you, Lily and us is that
• 17:44
Speaker 6: you have social media. You could get caught doing these.
• 17:46
Speaker 4: Things exactly, and so it's like if you had a
• 17:48
Speaker 4: picture a whole different thing.
• 17:50
  Speaker 3: Sure, I mean I don't remember that being a rule,
• 17:53
Speaker 3: but it's a total different game now.
• 17:56
  Speaker 2: I don't remember that rule.
• 17:58
  Speaker 1: I remember being on a bus to a formal I
• 18:00
Speaker 1: don't know if you were all on this bus, maybe
• 18:02
Speaker 1: you weren't there yet, and one of the girls was
• 18:05
Speaker 1: so plastered that she stood up in the middle of
• 18:08
Speaker 1: the bus and the bus is moving and she fell
• 18:09
Speaker 1: forward and vomited everywhere. Seems familiar now if somebody had
• 18:14
Speaker 1: a camera or something or a social media can you
• 18:17
Speaker 1: imagine if you had like a vendetta against that girl.
• 18:19
Speaker 2: That I have an extremely embarrassing thing. I will admit,
• 18:23
Speaker 2: and then you guys can weigh in. So dating even now,
• 18:29
Speaker 2: this is like I'm embarrassed to admit this. There's something
• 18:33
Speaker 2: about like, if I'm dating someone that was in a fraternity,
• 18:35
  Speaker 2: I think.
• 18:36
Speaker 5: I know what you're gonna say.
• 18:37
Speaker 2: I kind of need it to be a good one.
• 18:39
Speaker 2: I think I would be like, no, I donate that.
• 18:42
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 18:42
Speaker 2: I think if it was somebody was like, yeah, I
• 18:44
  Speaker 2: went to cal I was a cap a sig. I
• 18:46
Speaker 2: mentioned I'm making it up, I'd be like, oh.
• 18:50
Speaker 1: Realally, people can reinvent in life, like Amy, I peaked
• 18:54
  Speaker 1: in high school.
• 18:55
Speaker 2: Come on, like it's been a downhill spiral. None of
• 18:58
Speaker 2: you guys have that. That you meet someone and they're
• 19:00
Speaker 2: like I was an, say my face is bright red,
• 19:02
Speaker 2: and you're kind of like, oh, it takes them up
• 19:04
  Speaker 2: ten notches.
• 19:05
Speaker 5: I'm not gonna lie, I agree with you.
• 19:08
Speaker 3: Thank you. I actually think that the opposite sometimes, like
• 19:12
Speaker 3: with my daughter when she finds out my daughter was
• 19:15
Speaker 3: in whatever puke when I say it, but she was
• 19:17
Speaker 3: in the top the top tiers or whatever it is.
• 19:20
Speaker 3: But when she hears about guys that were in also
• 19:22
Speaker 3: like she's almost turned off, Like she pictures like, oh god,
• 19:26
Speaker 3: it's going to be a frat bro.
• 19:27
Speaker 6: Like she's just not meant Okay.
• 19:29
Speaker 4: Here's the thing that I'm gonna say, though, Amy that
• 19:33
Speaker 4: I agree with you, and I'm like this is gonna
• 19:38
Speaker 4: sound really bad, but like we went to really nerdy schools,
• 19:42
Speaker 4: Like there's a lot of weirdos and even more weirdos
• 19:48
Speaker 4: weird guys I would say at cal or UCLA, Like
• 19:53
  Speaker 4: I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but Jen, I just
• 19:55
Speaker 4: picture like they're being a lot cooler people ut and
• 19:59
Speaker 4: there's more like raw and I don't know, would.
• 20:01
Speaker 2: You ever ask someone if you were dating them their
• 20:05
Speaker 2: fraternity or would that never come up?
• 20:07
  Speaker 3: I do?
• 20:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, people if we're talking about it, I mean,
• 20:12
Speaker 2: I asked you guys.
• 20:13
Speaker 4: But I'm just saying, like I'm saying a part of
• 20:16
Speaker 4: it a guy, yes, because I just know, like the
• 20:20
Speaker 4: chances of them maybe not being super social or being
• 20:24
Speaker 4: are just very high if they weren't in a few
• 20:26
Speaker 4: just because there were so few I think social guys.
• 20:31
Speaker 2: I'm just being vulnerable and admitting it. I think I
• 20:33
Speaker 2: would maybe judge somebody.
• 20:35
Speaker 3: No, I mean I think it's listen, we all judge.
• 20:38
  Speaker 3: Doesn't matter whatever, it's always it's always something, right. I
• 20:41
Speaker 3: don't know if that would be the thing. And also
• 20:44
Speaker 3: I think because maybe because I, for whatever reason, I
• 20:48
Speaker 3: have like a real aversion to a certain maybe because
• 20:53
Speaker 3: of my daughter to like a frat bro type or
• 20:56
Speaker 3: like a finance grow living in New York City, and
• 20:58
Speaker 3: it's this, it's she describes it to me. It's like
• 21:00
Speaker 3: the boy that just still thinks that he's in a frat.
• 21:04
  Speaker 1: Oh.
• 21:04
  Speaker 3: Interesting, he's a cliche, right, He's just he's just still
• 21:08
Speaker 3: all he wants to do is like party with the
• 21:11
Speaker 3: bros and do all the frat crap and for her
• 21:14
Speaker 3: that's becoming like a turnoff right like they were adulting
• 21:17
Speaker 3: out of that Now, doesn't mean that she wouldn't she
• 21:20
  Speaker 3: wouldn't judge.
• 21:21
  Speaker 6: I guess.
• 21:21
Speaker 3: So she heard that he was in a frat that
• 21:23
Speaker 3: had a certain reputation, maybe she would judge.
• 21:25
  Speaker 2: But I don't know.
• 21:26
Speaker 3: I mean, listen, we all judge all the time. Unfortunately,
• 21:28
Speaker 3: that's what humans do.
• 21:29
Speaker 1: But Amy, if somebody didn't get in a fraternity, would
• 21:33
Speaker 1: you judge that person too? So forget being a bad fratunity,
• 21:36
Speaker 1: what about somebody who went through rush and just didn't
• 21:38
Speaker 1: get a house or Amy?
• 21:40
Speaker 2: Actually, don't ask. Let's not answer that question. I mean
• 21:42
  Speaker 2: I think so like I think, I'm sorry, I'm telling
• 21:46
Speaker 2: the truth. It's anonymous. I'm saying as a person that
• 21:50
Speaker 2: was in a sorority and in the Greek system, and
• 21:52
Speaker 2: you can judge me. I get it, like be mad
• 21:55
Speaker 2: about it and think I'm a big dor but like, yeah,
• 21:57
Speaker 2: there might be something, especially if you're from the school
• 22:01
Speaker 2: I went to. Maybe I wouldn't judge you if you weren't,
• 22:04
Speaker 2: but it definitely takes you up five notches if you were.
• 22:07
Speaker 2: Maybe I'll say that, But are you stuck in your
• 22:10
Speaker 2: college experience, then of course for sure.
• 22:13
Speaker 4: Well I'm going to piggyback off of Amy, Like I
• 22:16
Speaker 4: think I would go as far as if they went
• 22:18
Speaker 4: to a different school and I saw that they were
• 22:20
Speaker 4: in a frat, I would look up on Greek rank
• 22:22
Speaker 4: and see what what's Greek?
• 22:24
  Speaker 2: Greek?
• 22:25
Speaker 3: Oh my god, Greek rank is for well, I'm sorry, Lily,
• 22:28
Speaker 3: because I'm just what I know of it. It's literally
• 22:30
Speaker 3: this this site or whatever where that they get ranked
• 22:34
Speaker 3: all the Greek so the houses get ranked, and this
• 22:37
Speaker 3: one is for smart boys, this one's for the pretty girls,
• 22:41
Speaker 3: this one's right, is that ryes well?
• 22:42
Speaker 5: And it's it's like this is everything. Yes, every school,
• 22:47
Speaker 5: it'll say, this is what's the top sorority in top fraternity?
• 22:50
  Speaker 5: Right now?
• 22:50
Speaker 2: Wait, can you Greek rank our sororities?
• 22:53
Speaker 6: Yes, yeah, I could look it right up. It'll tell
• 22:56
  Speaker 6: you all.
• 22:57
Speaker 5: I'll tell you right now.
• 22:59
Speaker 6: But a Greek or something?
• 23:02
Speaker 2: What is Kappa at cal?
• 23:04
Speaker 5: Let's look, let's just do it.
• 23:06
  Speaker 2: I think it's from what I'm told, it's still good.
• 23:08
Speaker 1: But I think to Lily's point, like I think Berkeley
• 23:12
Speaker 1: and UCLA is I get it like a bunch of right.
• 23:16
Speaker 2: I mean, we have to be very smart to go there,
• 23:19
  Speaker 2: but you get.
• 23:19
Speaker 5: A lot of kind of weirdos.
• 23:21
Speaker 4: So I think, like I would ask, why weren't you
• 23:24
Speaker 4: in a you know, because I know that those guys
• 23:28
Speaker 4: I get it in other schools where they're more fratty
• 23:30
Speaker 4: than those like top top frats quote, but I think
• 23:34
Speaker 4: at different schools, like at UCLA, it was kind of
• 23:37
Speaker 4: like if you weren't in a top frat, you were
• 23:39
  Speaker 4: kind of weird.
• 23:41
Speaker 3: You know, when you're in college, you're like, oh, I
• 23:42
Speaker 3: went to high school with him, he was such a kee.
• 23:45
Speaker 2: Hometown pro, hometown con that was some of our lingo.
• 23:49
Speaker 2: Nikki explained what hometown pro is, hometown con is.
• 23:52
Speaker 1: Okay, so and again you'll know this more Lily, But
• 23:55
Speaker 1: it's my understanding that today the only people that can
• 23:59
Speaker 1: quote vote on a potential pledgey is somebody that you
• 24:03
Speaker 1: actually had talked to and had contact with, whereas with
• 24:07
Speaker 1: us back in the day, we would gather at night
• 24:11
Speaker 1: and we would all sit at these tables for hours
• 24:14
Speaker 1: and a name would be brought up, and if you
• 24:18
Speaker 1: had something to say, you know, good or unsavory, you
• 24:22
Speaker 1: would get up and you would be like, hometown con
• 24:27
Speaker 1: she slept with my best friend's boyfriend. And then you know,
• 24:31
Speaker 1: and then your little friends, your click of friends would
• 24:33
Speaker 1: like support you, and all of a sudden that person
• 24:37
Speaker 1: was kind of had a tough time depending on where
• 24:40
Speaker 1: your standing was in the sorority. Right. Similarly, if there
• 24:46
Speaker 1: was somebody that was really important you know to you
• 24:49
Speaker 1: that you wanted a sorority and maybe tanked. I mean,
• 24:53
Speaker 1: one of my best friends, quite frankly, was horrible in
• 24:56
Speaker 1: rush and Amy, you weren't there yet, and I sat
• 25:01
Speaker 1: up and this was like really important to me, And
• 25:03
Speaker 1: I stood up and I was like I would brush
• 25:05
Speaker 1: my teeth next to her. That was like the line
• 25:08
Speaker 1: that you wouldn't use. It was like best and final on.
• 25:11
Speaker 2: A real estate deal.
• 25:12
Speaker 1: And then your friends if you were quote popular and
• 25:16
Speaker 1: the sorority would like vote for you to support your.
• 25:20
Speaker 2: Friend getting in. And I don't think it's that way anymore,
• 25:23
Speaker 2: is it? Back in our day? What I'll say is,
• 25:26
Speaker 2: if you had enough juice, one person was very popular,
• 25:32
Speaker 2: well liked in the sorority, they would have enough juice
• 25:36
Speaker 2: to get somebody into the sorority or kill literally or
• 25:39
Speaker 2: kill out. Can you remember it all, Nikki? When your
• 25:44
Speaker 2: sister was going through rush, Like were you nervous? Like,
• 25:48
Speaker 2: oh God, now I have to go into this meeting
• 25:49
Speaker 2: and they're going to talk about my sister.
• 25:51
Speaker 1: I wasn't nervous her year because legacy mattered. It was
• 25:55
Speaker 1: the year before you and I had three friends going
• 26:00
Speaker 1: through it. One who was one of my best friends
• 26:04
Speaker 1: and we rushed freshman year and she didn't get a house.
• 26:07
Speaker 2: Two was my other best friend who was like dead
• 26:10
  Speaker 2: as a doorknob.
• 26:11
Speaker 1: I mean I was like walking by her and I'd
• 26:13
Speaker 1: be like talk talk talk, you know. And then my
• 26:17
Speaker 1: other friend was the sister of somebody who had graduated,
• 26:23
Speaker 1: and you know, that didn't happen, and.
• 26:26
Speaker 2: So it was a rough Did you get all three in?
• 26:28
Speaker 2: I did not? Did you get wan? And I got too?
• 26:31
Speaker 1: And it was a very and I was a sophomore, right,
• 26:33
Speaker 1: so I was kind of nothing.
• 26:35
Speaker 2: It was a very rough rush for me.
• 26:38
Speaker 1: When you guys came along, I didn't know I had
• 26:40
Speaker 1: met you and said be best friends with my sister.
• 26:43
Speaker 2: But it was Lisa, and she was it was going
• 26:46
Speaker 2: to be no issue because legacy then it didn't matter, right,
• 26:49
Speaker 2: And I was a legacy also.
• 26:51
Speaker 1: I will tell you at Texas. You know, legacy and
• 26:56
Speaker 1: all that. At least in the fraternity, it still exists.
• 26:59
Speaker 1: It's my understand with the sororities that it does not.
• 27:02
Speaker 5: No, but hometown votes still are a big deal.
• 27:07
Speaker 2: So so, Lily, that's an interesting question that Nikki brings up. So,
• 27:10
Speaker 2: say there was a girl that you knew, how would
• 27:12
Speaker 2: you convey that to your sisters, sorry to say sisters,
• 27:17
Speaker 2: how would you convey that? Like, hey, you got to
• 27:20
Speaker 2: get this girl in. Yeah, you're not.
• 27:22
Speaker 4: Having meetings, okay, well you do like work week prior
• 27:27
Speaker 4: the week prior to rush recruitment. You basically we would
• 27:34
Speaker 4: have a Now I'm really not supposed.
• 27:37
Speaker 2: To say this, but that's okay. Let it know.
• 27:40
Speaker 4: You would have a presentation of all of the girls
• 27:44
Speaker 4: that you were you were looking out for that you
• 27:46
Speaker 4: may like, even remotely new, Like this girl's super cute,
• 27:49
Speaker 4: she likes to do this.
• 27:50
Speaker 5: Here's some fun facts about her.
• 27:52
Speaker 2: Do you show their social media?
• 27:54
Speaker 4: Yeah, you show a picture of them, like the best
• 27:56
Speaker 4: picture of them, and you put them in there and
• 27:58
Speaker 4: you say you did not.
• 27:59
Speaker 6: Also go back and we had to submit pictures and that.
• 28:01
Speaker 1: Would them well with letters, we had wreck letters.
• 28:19
Speaker 2: I had a flashback of Lily won't even know what
• 28:23
Speaker 2: this is, that old timey thing. It was like a
• 28:26
Speaker 2: big box and it had a light on it and
• 28:28
Speaker 2: you would have to put the thing and the piece
• 28:31
Speaker 2: of paper on the light thing and somehow the light
• 28:34
Speaker 2: would then flash it to a screen like it was
• 28:38
Speaker 2: eighteen hundreds. We had a pay phone. That's what we did.
• 28:42
Speaker 7: I mean there was no Also, did did you guys
• 28:44
Speaker 7: have like during skits like we so fies would put
• 28:48
Speaker 7: all the girls that were really wanted, like in the
• 28:52
Speaker 7: first couple of rows.
• 28:53
Speaker 2: No, but you mentioned that, I think in an earlier episode,
• 28:55
Speaker 2: and that was interesting. I don't think we were clever
• 28:58
Speaker 2: enough to figure out how to get the the girls
• 29:00
Speaker 2: you want the most into the front row. But we
• 29:03
Speaker 2: knew we had a hit list. We did have a
• 29:05
Speaker 2: hit We did have that. Yeah, yeah, And you would
• 29:07
Speaker 2: also send a floater. Hey, Like if some like you know,
• 29:12
Speaker 2: top notch Active was a floater, you'd be like, get
• 29:16
Speaker 2: over there to so and so and get them in.
• 29:19
Speaker 1: But you had matched like your best sorry Lily Active
• 29:24
Speaker 1: with the best rushie to make it.
• 29:27
Speaker 2: It was like a signing meeting. That's really what it was.
• 29:31
Speaker 4: Totally that all of that strategy is still very much
• 29:34
Speaker 4: roud and you can even like we would have a
• 29:38
Speaker 4: voting scale if you knew someone from home and you
• 29:41
Speaker 4: were like, you really want it had to be one
• 29:43
Speaker 4: way or the other. You had to be really strong
• 29:45
Speaker 4: vote them, and it was called a hometown vote, and
• 29:47
Speaker 4: you could only vote people zero or four. Zero would
• 29:52
Speaker 4: mean she slept with my sister's boyfriend and whatever, she
• 29:56
Speaker 4: cannot step foot in here, and you would probably try
• 29:58
Speaker 4: to rally some of your friends and say unied hometown
• 30:00
Speaker 4: voter to and give her a zero or because all
• 30:04
Speaker 4: numbers about your score and about people who talked to
• 30:07
Speaker 4: or you could be like, I love her so much,
• 30:09
Speaker 4: as Amy said, I would brush my teeth next to her.
• 30:11
Speaker 6: What about did you guys get pro con pro thing?
• 30:14
Speaker 4: Then you just go into normal recruitment and you're talking
• 30:17
Speaker 4: them and everyone gives scores. You don't have this thing
• 30:20
Speaker 4: at the end of the day where everyone's like raising
• 30:23
Speaker 4: their hand and rallying for one.
• 30:24
Speaker 2: Which is so interesting because the meeting was really more
• 30:26
Speaker 2: important essentially than like the score, because you could really
• 30:30
Speaker 2: get someone's score. They could have a low score and
• 30:32
Speaker 2: you could get them up high. So pro con pro
• 30:34
Speaker 2: for people listening. There was a method to the madness,
• 30:38
Speaker 2: like they didn't want you just having these meetings where
• 30:40
Speaker 2: you were like, I don't like her.
• 30:42
Speaker 1: But Amy, we could vote on everybody. But literally, isn't
• 30:45
Speaker 1: it true? The only people who can vote is somebody
• 30:49
Speaker 1: who actually had direct conversation or interaction with the with
• 30:53
Speaker 1: the I'm sorry whatever, what do.
• 30:55
Speaker 2: You call the membership potential pms.
• 30:58
Speaker 4: It had a pan and m yes, yes, I yes,
• 31:03
Speaker 4: But I think there are some things that happen under
• 31:06
Speaker 4: the table that you do to try to get Like
• 31:11
Speaker 4: if you're because everyone wants the best girls, and so
• 31:14
Speaker 4: if I know someone from home and I'm like, we
• 31:16
Speaker 4: need to get her in here, and God forbid, something
• 31:19
Speaker 4: were to happen where she were in which happens all
• 31:22
Speaker 4: the time, where she got dropped or whatever, I would try.
• 31:26
Speaker 4: I would give her a hometown vote. I'm the only
• 31:28
Speaker 4: person like who can do that. But then maybe I
• 31:30
Speaker 4: would try to give my friends like say you know
• 31:32
Speaker 4: her from home too, you give her a four from
• 31:34
Speaker 4: a hometown vote, or you go out and talk to her.
• 31:37
Speaker 2: So pro con pro So everybody listening, that's like, what's
• 31:40
Speaker 2: pro con pro? Well, you have to I mean it's
• 31:41
Speaker 2: the word. We understand the definition of it, right, Yeah,
• 31:43
Speaker 2: But I think people listening don't necessarily understand that. In
• 31:46
Speaker 2: this meeting, they would go what do you think of NICKI?
• 31:50
Speaker 2: And they might show your photo, and then one girl
• 31:53
Speaker 2: could stand up from the room in this big dining
• 31:55
Speaker 2: room and say, I went to high school with Nikki.
• 31:58
  Speaker 2: I love her. She's totally Kapa mater. She's amazing, she's
• 32:01
Speaker 2: so smart. You know, she's studying to be a doctor.
• 32:04
  Speaker 1: Right.
• 32:04
Speaker 2: But then somebody has the opportunity to stand up. You
• 32:07
Speaker 2: have to stand up, if I remember, And then you say,
• 32:10
Speaker 2: you know, I talked to her today and I thought
• 32:12
Speaker 2: I thought she was a bit dull, you know, sorry
• 32:14
Speaker 2: to say, but then you have to end on a pro,
• 32:19
Speaker 2: like ending on something positive made it all okay, Like
• 32:23
Speaker 2: that was sort of the theory, like she's a total whore,
• 32:26
Speaker 2: but I liked your ear rings, yeah, Verry was. If
• 32:30
Speaker 2: you ended on this pro, then really we weren't these
• 32:33
Speaker 2: terrible people in this room talking about people. And I
• 32:36
Speaker 2: remember I helped with Rush at a different school, Uzela,
• 32:42
Speaker 2: and they had pro con pro but if they could
• 32:48
Speaker 2: not figure out what to say, they would stand up
• 32:52
Speaker 2: and say nice, sweet, cute and that actually meant voter out.
• 32:58
Speaker 2: What about no comment not the same thing. Yeah, they basically,
• 33:02
Speaker 2: but I think you're technically not supposed to say no comments.
• 33:05
Speaker 2: So they would say a pro which was nice, sweet cute,
• 33:08
Speaker 2: but it was code to the girls, noop, ugly fat
• 33:14
Speaker 2: nor Now we never I never experienced anybody saying something
• 33:19
Speaker 2: in a meeting. I will say, and we'll end on this,
• 33:22
Speaker 2: somebody's saying something about somebody's appearance. That would be that
• 33:27
Speaker 2: is I never experienced that. I don't know about the
• 33:30
Speaker 2: rest of you, but I never had it in a
• 33:32
Speaker 2: meeting where somebody was talking about somebody's I.
• 33:34
Speaker 6: Don't remember it being blatant, but certainly there it was there.
• 33:38
Speaker 6: It was hanging out.
• 33:39
Speaker 3: If you have a bunch of rushies or pnms or
• 33:43
Speaker 3: whatever you want to call them, coming through, we're talking
• 33:46
Speaker 3: about who went into the two front rows or like
• 33:48
Speaker 3: it was the prettier girls. I mean, that was just
• 33:50
  Speaker 3: and I think that's you cannot deny that that's a.
• 33:53
Speaker 6: Big effort all of this. It just is, you know,
• 33:56
Speaker 6: what is a top tier sorority. I think that it's
• 33:59
Speaker 6: you know, a lot of.
• 34:00
Speaker 1: Times it's dick bait, right, it's the hot girls to
• 34:03
Speaker 1: get like the guys and vice versa. Right, And so
• 34:07
Speaker 1: even if you look at the tiktoks for sority Rush,
• 34:11
Speaker 1: which I watch and thank god I don't have girls,
• 34:14
Speaker 1: and I see the girls with their dance moves and
• 34:17
Speaker 1: how hot they are.
• 34:18
Speaker 2: And how like sexy they are, and I'm like, oh
• 34:21
  Speaker 2: my god.
• 34:22
Speaker 1: And there was one TikTok that showed like Rush in
• 34:25
Speaker 1: the eighties and nineties compared to Rush now and it
• 34:27
Speaker 1: was like bargain basement like posters, handmade posters and so different,
• 34:34
  Speaker 1: so different.
• 34:35
Speaker 5: Can I give you the Greek rank what it says
• 34:38
  Speaker 5: for Kappa?
• 34:40
Speaker 2: Definitely good way to end this episode.
• 34:43
Speaker 5: Okay, so how you read Greek rank.
• 34:45
Speaker 4: It's not the actual rankings that are posted, but you
• 34:47
Speaker 4: have to go into the discussion section because those are
• 34:49
  Speaker 4: real people.
• 34:51
Speaker 2: Okay, it's like Reddit and people like Reddit.
• 34:54
Speaker 4: Yeah, like Reddit like people will up arrow it and
• 34:56
Speaker 4: down aarrow it if it's right.
• 34:58
Speaker 5: So on August we do.
• 35:01
Speaker 4: They said for the rank for the sorority rankings at
• 35:05
Speaker 4: cal Top, it says Kappa one hundred and forty years
• 35:09
Speaker 4: of recruiting powerful, rich connected women.
• 35:13
  Speaker 2: Oh girls.
• 35:15
Speaker 6: So anyway, you guys amazing, right, how lingos have.
• 35:19
Speaker 3: Some things change. The more things change, I never.
• 35:22
Speaker 2: Know whether to like end these episodes feeling like a
• 35:25
Speaker 2: little giggle, a little love, or if I need hour.
• 35:27
Speaker 2: It's sort of all of the above.
• 35:28
Speaker 3: I feel the same way I loved being in a sorority.
• 35:33
Speaker 3: I know my daughter loved being in a sorority. And
• 35:35
Speaker 3: then sometimes I think, how in the world could you
• 35:37
Speaker 3: have ever been in a sorority?
• 35:39
  Speaker 6: How dare you?
• 35:40
Speaker 2: I think it's gotten worse, Like.
• 35:42
  Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a vicious it's a lot of good, maybe
• 35:46
Speaker 3: some bad as well, but anyway, thanks you guys so much.
• 35:49
Speaker 6: Love talking lingo with you.
• 35:51
  Speaker 2: Bye.
