- 0:11Speaker 3: Yes.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Hello.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Sailor boy got a text from Fastus, my sailor son
- 0:19Speaker 2: who stationed on the island of Diego Garcia. Uh. He
- 0:23Speaker 2: texted me earlier this week and he said, I I
- 0:27Speaker 2: just saw about the fires you guys are having.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Is everything? Is everything okay? There?
- 0:32Speaker 2: No, I said, I mean, we're we're okay, but mostly this,
- 0:38Speaker 2: you know, in the city we're okay. But yeah, the
- 0:41Speaker 2: I think he saw both that there was up above
- 0:44Speaker 2: the University of Utah, which is where we live, close
- 0:47Speaker 2: by to here, and then the Middle Fork fire and
- 0:49Speaker 2: Huntsville is close to the tree farm up there. He
- 0:52Speaker 2: was concerned and I said, you know, we're okay, rest
- 0:55Speaker 2: of the state not so much. But but how about
- 0:59Speaker 2: how about you?
- 0:59Speaker 1: What's happened with you?
- 1:00Speaker 2: And he said, well, we had a clinic bonfire on
- 1:03Speaker 2: the beach that was fun, and we got a new
- 1:07Speaker 2: I d C.
- 1:07Speaker 1: The check in I d C is.
- 1:09Speaker 2: An independent duty corman, which is what Festus is. It's
- 1:12Speaker 2: medic And he said, we've got a mass casualty drill
- 1:16Speaker 2: on Wednesday. Well, they'll give us like a hundred patients
- 1:18Speaker 2: to practice on. Oh and I got a new tattoo, ah, yes,
- 1:27Speaker 2: which you can which you can see at x ninety
- 1:30Speaker 2: six dot com slash live.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:33Speaker 1: What does that say on the I will tell you
- 1:35Speaker 1: what it says.
- 1:36Speaker 3: It's a He said, it's.
- 1:39Speaker 2: A donkey with a creed tramp stamp on the butt.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Why And I said, uh, what.
- 1:53Speaker 3: I hope it's not in any place where people can
- 1:54Speaker 3: see it.
- 1:55Speaker 1: It's it's on his thigh. And I'm like what. So
- 1:59Speaker 1: I called him this morning.
- 2:01Speaker 2: So in my mind I'm thinking, were you This sounds
- 2:05Speaker 2: like a drunken bet to me.
- 2:08Speaker 1: So I called him this morning.
- 2:10Speaker 3: On my way to word, I mean, really, it's not
- 2:13Speaker 3: a very it's not very well done.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Oh no, this is so.
- 2:17Speaker 2: So I called him this morning and I said, how
- 2:19Speaker 2: is the MASHs casualty training? And he said that that
- 2:23Speaker 2: went well? And I said, all right, tell me about
- 2:26Speaker 2: the tattoo.
- 2:27Speaker 1: What was it a.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Drunken And he said no, No, he said I was
- 2:34Speaker 2: out in a in a truck with two other officers
- 2:41Speaker 2: naval people, Max and More I think is who he
- 2:45Speaker 2: said he was with HM.
- 2:46Speaker 1: And they were driving to a far part of the.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Island and I looked it up the islands like thirty
- 2:54Speaker 2: eight miles.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Okay, long, that's it.
- 2:58Speaker 2: We were driving in a remote part of the island
- 3:01Speaker 2: and the truck broke down, and I guess they didn't
- 3:05Speaker 2: have They don't have self service there. If you have
- 3:08Speaker 2: a cell phone, it's you have to use Wi Fi.
- 3:11Speaker 3: To This was a government vehicle that broke down.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Yes, so there are phones like those emergency phones you
- 3:19Speaker 2: know how they used to have on the side of
- 3:21Speaker 2: the road.
- 3:21Speaker 1: They have those all over the island in case something
- 3:23Speaker 1: like this happens.
- 3:25Speaker 2: So they called on the emergency phone, our truck broke down.
- 3:28Speaker 1: We need help.
- 3:30Speaker 2: And in the interim while they were waiting for help
- 3:33Speaker 2: to come, they were joined by a wild feral donkey,
- 3:40Speaker 2: which apparently there are many of them.
- 3:43Speaker 3: You've said that before, that there are wild donkeys living on.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Them, Yeah, Diego Garcia is home to a population of
- 3:49Speaker 2: wild donkeys. These feral animals or descendants of those left
- 3:53Speaker 2: behind when the island's coconut plantations were vacated in the.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Seven When you say you say feral, it makes it
- 3:59Speaker 3: sound as though they're of vicious But I'm guessing they're not.
- 4:02Speaker 3: They're just they're just donkeys.
- 4:04Speaker 2: And so they this donkey just kind of hung out
- 4:08Speaker 2: with them until help arrived. And for some reason, and
- 4:12Speaker 2: this is the part that I can't can't forgive justus
- 4:15Speaker 2: for they were listening to Creed, the band Creed.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Yeah and you take me Hi. They were listening to
- 4:23Speaker 1: that in the truck.
- 4:24Speaker 3: If they had been listening to the band Government Mule,
- 4:27Speaker 3: that would make more that would make more sense.
- 4:29Speaker 2: So to commemorate this event, the three of them went
- 4:35Speaker 2: back and I guess somebody in the barracks has a
- 4:38Speaker 2: tattoo gun like you do. And they all got matching
- 4:44Speaker 2: donkey tattoos.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Let's let's see if we can get some really ugly tattoos.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Is there a guy Is there a guy in the
- 4:51Speaker 3: barracks who does a really crappy job at tattooings. This
- 4:54Speaker 3: is yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 2: And all of the lines coming out from the donkey, Yeah,
- 4:59Speaker 2: the those are supposed to represent radiation because there's a
- 5:03Speaker 2: there's a rumor that the donkeys.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Are radio radio.
- 5:08Speaker 3: They should put a little foot one of those little
- 5:10Speaker 3: radioactive symbols on the donkeys.
- 5:12Speaker 1: But this is a barracks tattoo.
- 5:14Speaker 2: You know, sitting on somebody's bunk, getting But they all
- 5:18Speaker 2: have this, so you know, years from now when they're
- 5:21Speaker 2: telling their war stories.
- 5:22Speaker 1: You know, Oh I was. I was in the Iran War.
- 5:27Speaker 3: My truck broke down and and I met a donkey.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I met a donkey. I got a commemorative well donkey tattoo.
- 5:35Speaker 3: My guess is that that'll be covered up with some
- 5:37Speaker 3: other better tattoo.
- 5:38Speaker 1: It could, it could be, but it's really bad.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Where is it on his body?
- 5:42Speaker 1: It's on his thigh? Oh great, Like that means whenever
- 5:46Speaker 1: you go swimming, people are going.
- 5:47Speaker 3: To see it on the on the upper upper part
- 5:50Speaker 3: above the knee. Yeah, on the front of it.
- 5:54Speaker 2: I think I can't know it's he said, it's on
- 5:57Speaker 2: his thigh, so it's I guess you could technically cover
- 6:01Speaker 2: that up.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah, if you were launch or something. It's a story.
- 6:05Speaker 2: I am so glad though, that there is a story
- 6:08Speaker 2: associated with it. That it's not just we got drunk
- 6:11Speaker 2: one night and somebody bet me to have a tattoo
- 6:14Speaker 2: put on.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Because it's this That tattoo screams of drunken rib doesn't
- 6:22Speaker 3: I read? I read some story years and years ago
- 6:24Speaker 3: when I was a kid about drunken sailors, and I
- 6:26Speaker 3: don't I don't remember the story exactly or the context,
- 6:30Speaker 3: but it was drunken sailors and one of them got
- 6:32Speaker 3: a tattoo. He was so drunk, and it was he
- 6:35Speaker 3: got a pig's foot tattooed on the bottom of his foot.
- 6:39Speaker 1: That sounds the bottom, Yeah.
- 6:42Speaker 3: It would, Yeah, it would be painful, and so would
- 6:45Speaker 3: the I mean the thigh. If you did it right
- 6:47Speaker 3: on the front, not so bad.
- 6:49Speaker 1: But the inner I think it's right on right on
- 6:53Speaker 1: top there.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Yeah. Besides, you don't want some some guy in the
- 6:56Speaker 3: barracks getting that close to them, you know, in your
- 6:59Speaker 3: inner thigh. That's a little too close.
- 7:02Speaker 1: But again, the thing I am most disappointed.
- 7:05Speaker 2: About Creed honey, really reed, really, really, you could have
- 7:11Speaker 2: done you.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Could have done better.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I'm disappointed at him.
- 7:14Speaker 1: He's not even my kid.
- 7:17Speaker 3: As a matter of fact, I agree with Kerry, and
- 7:19Speaker 3: you know what, I'm disowning him.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Yeah, hello sailor boy. It was funny though.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I asked him about the mass casualty training and I said.
- 7:29Speaker 1: How are they as actors?
- 7:30Speaker 2: So what they do is they and I guess there
- 7:32Speaker 2: were like one hundred people and somebody goes around and says,
- 7:35Speaker 2: you know you got shot you.
- 7:37Speaker 3: That I've done that before.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, And I said how good at actors are they?
- 7:43Speaker 1: And he's like not great head, he said, I was.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I was working on one patient and she was she
- 7:50Speaker 2: was talking to me, and I'm trying to assess what's
- 7:52Speaker 2: going on with her, and there's there are people in
- 7:54Speaker 2: the room that know what they're kind of assessing it
- 7:57Speaker 2: and keeping an eye on it, and they know what everybody's.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Ailment to say supposed to be.
- 8:01Speaker 2: And they came up to him with this girl who
- 8:04Speaker 2: was talking to him, and he's like, yeah, I'm trying
- 8:06Speaker 2: to figure this one out. And the person running it said, well,
- 8:09Speaker 2: she's supposed to be unconscious, and he.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Said, well, she's talking to me.
- 8:15Speaker 3: I know. When I did one of those, it was
- 8:17Speaker 3: some disaster training thing and earthquake, Yeah, and they recruited
- 8:22Speaker 3: a bunch of people from the theater department and it
- 8:24Speaker 3: was up at Weaver State and we did it in
- 8:26Speaker 3: a dorm dining room, as I recall, and they did
- 8:30Speaker 3: assign everybody to be different. I forget what I was
- 8:33Speaker 3: supposed to be, but some people like me didn't really
- 8:37Speaker 3: take it very seriously and just say yeah, I got
- 8:40Speaker 3: a supposed to be a broken arman. And and then
- 8:44Speaker 3: there were some people in the theater department, a couple
- 8:46Speaker 3: of girls specifically in the theater department, who were acting
- 8:50Speaker 3: the hell out yeah, wailing, and.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I mean, I think that you need to have that.
- 8:56Speaker 2: If this is supposed to train you for a mash caw,
- 9:00Speaker 2: a casualty.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Event, I think you should. You should be all in with.
- 9:03Speaker 3: It, you should all right, disappointed, bad tattoo. All I
- 9:10Speaker 3: can say
