- 0:01Speaker 1: Let's charging about.
- 0:05Speaker 2: All right, let's talk about Zach Gallon going to Arizona.
- 0:08Speaker 2: We heard from Ken Rosenthal. He talked a lot about how,
- 0:11Speaker 2: you know, every off season it feels as if at
- 0:13Speaker 2: least one free agent who rejects a qualifying offer gets burned.
- 0:18Speaker 2: And you know he said this off season, that was
- 0:20Speaker 2: free agent Zach Gallon. On Friday, he agreed to a
- 0:23Speaker 2: one year, twenty two million dollar contract with the Diamondbacks.
- 0:27Speaker 2: His deal equal the amount of the qualifying offer that
- 0:30Speaker 2: he rejected from the Diamondbacks, but deferrals reduced the net
- 0:33Speaker 2: present to present value to eighteen point seven million. Eric,
- 0:39Speaker 2: your take on that and the whole situation with Gallen.
- 0:43Speaker 3: I mean, obviously it sucks for Gallen, But does this
- 0:46Speaker 3: mean that the whole qualifying offer is broken, that they're
- 0:49Speaker 3: going to get rid of it now in the next
- 0:51Speaker 3: CBA because one guy per off season gets screwed out
- 0:55Speaker 3: of it. Because I don't think Trent Grisham was getting
- 0:59Speaker 3: twenty two point zero five million. I don't know that
- 1:04Speaker 3: Brent big Wu was gonna get that. Could they have
- 1:06Speaker 3: gotten more over a longer term, Yeah, absolutely, but that
- 1:11Speaker 3: one year deal. This is the highest AAV and as
- 1:14Speaker 3: a player you're trying to gain that highest AAV and
- 1:18Speaker 3: push that limit for everybody else.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Just sucks for Gowan. I didn't want I didn't see.
- 1:23Speaker 3: This happening because I thought this usually happened to the
- 1:25Speaker 3: guys who were in that like fifty to sixty maybe
- 1:29Speaker 3: even seventy million dollar range, and I thought Gollen was
- 1:32Speaker 3: I thought Gowen was easily a nine figure pitcher after
- 1:36Speaker 3: what he had done throughout his first six years.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I get it, I get what he did.
- 1:40Speaker 3: You know, he is down down year in his platform year,
- 1:43Speaker 3: a little bit the year before, but I really thought
- 1:45Speaker 3: he had put together enough to say, yes, this guy
- 1:49Speaker 3: deserves one hundred plus million.
- 1:52Speaker 1: No a J what do you think? I mean? This
- 1:55Speaker 1: has kind of been the playbook for Scott Morris his
- 1:57Speaker 1: clients the last few year's Bregman, Snell, right, Chapman. They
- 2:03Speaker 1: take these one year deals and then they go back
- 2:06Speaker 1: onto the free agent market. And the best thing about
- 2:08Speaker 1: Zach Gallon is he can't get a qualifying offer. Now
- 2:10Speaker 1: we don't know where that'll stand with the new CBA, right,
- 2:13Speaker 1: but he's burned through the qualifying offer. And you know
- 2:16Speaker 1: what the best part is for Zach Gallon. He's going
- 2:18Speaker 1: back to a place he knows. He's going back to
- 2:20Speaker 1: a place he's comfortable. He had a bad start to
- 2:22Speaker 1: the year last year. Was it too much pressure, was
- 2:24Speaker 1: he trying to ard whatever it was. But he can
- 2:26Speaker 1: go into this year and say, you know what, I've
- 2:27Speaker 1: been there. I learned from it. And Zach is highly intelligent.
- 2:30Speaker 1: We've had him on here, We've talked to him a bunch.
- 2:33Speaker 1: He's super intelligent. He understands himself, he understands the business.
- 2:36Speaker 1: So he'll go back on the hell. I would bet
- 2:39Speaker 1: on him to have a great year. He'll go back
- 2:41Speaker 1: on the free agent market next year and he'll get
- 2:43Speaker 1: a deal that he wants and probably be a multi
- 2:45Speaker 1: year deal and he can maybe finish his career wherever
- 2:48Speaker 1: that team is. But I listen, if he would have
- 2:50Speaker 1: just accepted the qualifying offer, this wouldn't be a big deal.
- 2:53Speaker 1: But he thought he'd have a bigger market. He did it,
- 2:56Speaker 1: so guess what. He took the same money. I know
- 2:57Speaker 1: some of it's deferred. Whatever. He's going back to a
- 3:00Speaker 1: place he's comfortable, and I bet on him having a
- 3:02Speaker 1: good year.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Okay, So that being said, you touched on it a
- 3:06Speaker 2: little bit aj But the good news for him is
- 3:08Speaker 2: that he can return to the market next offseason. He'll
- 3:11Speaker 2: be thirty one years old without a qualifying offer, potentially
- 3:14Speaker 2: giving him a path that's you know, similar to other
- 3:16Speaker 2: Scott Boris clients who turned short term deals into lucrative
- 3:20Speaker 2: long term deals. Eric, do you see that playing out
- 3:23Speaker 2: well for him?
- 3:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Hunerson, I definitely think.
- 3:28Speaker 3: You know, I'm trying to think of the guys who
- 3:30Speaker 3: stayed healthy, had decent or above average years when they
- 3:35Speaker 3: came back and you know, on that short term deal
- 3:38Speaker 3: and didn't get a nice contract.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I get it. Injuries happened.
- 3:42Speaker 3: That happens for anybody, and that's why players want that
- 3:45Speaker 3: guaranteed money up front. But if Boris and Gallon or
- 3:51Speaker 3: Boris Gallon and Gallon's you know, people talk and they say, Okay,
- 3:57Speaker 3: this is where the value is.
- 3:59Speaker 1: We in you, we believe in you.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Ultimately, it's up to Zach Gallen to say, no, you know,
- 4:04Speaker 3: I don't think this is how I want to do it.
- 4:06Speaker 3: This isn't you know, it's too much of a gamble.
- 4:10Speaker 3: But they're on the same page. It's worked out so well,
- 4:13Speaker 3: it's worked out so well for his clients, Blake Snell,
- 4:17Speaker 3: Matt Chapman, Pete Alonzo, there's one other that a Bregman.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Obviously this year like it's worked out and so you
- 4:26Speaker 3: know what, go for it. And what AJ said about
- 4:29Speaker 3: being comfortable at the place where you were. Comfort doesn't
- 4:32Speaker 3: necessarily mean oh, you know, he's complacent. That's not at
- 4:35Speaker 3: all what AJ's saying. It means he's going into spring training.
- 4:40Speaker 3: This this staff knows him, they know where he needs
- 4:43Speaker 3: to be to have success because they've seen it. This
- 4:48Speaker 3: staff hasn't I don't think they've been there the entire time,
- 4:50Speaker 3: but they've seen success. He's been in Arizona, he's been
- 4:53Speaker 3: in the division. So you know, it's easier to make
- 4:57Speaker 3: adjustments than when you're trying to go to a new
- 4:58Speaker 3: place on a one year deal and you're like, oh,
- 5:00Speaker 3: I got to prove that I'm good enough to everybody,
- 5:03Speaker 3: and you know that can that can be a tougher,
- 5:06Speaker 3: tougher road to ho there. All right, we got the
- 5:10Speaker 3: warby Parkers, I got the Raiders, but one thing that
- 5:14Speaker 3: upgraded to polarized, sorry about it.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Yeah, these are good not only for wearing but also
- 5:21Speaker 4: out in the sun. When I become that baseball coach.
- 5:23Speaker 4: I always want to be with my kids. I got
- 5:25Speaker 4: the Hatchers. They're darker, a little bit wider for my face.
- 5:28Speaker 4: They fit perfect, They're comfortable. It's an easy process to
- 5:32Speaker 4: order these really really cool glasses.
- 5:34Speaker 5: I am a diehard Warby Parker fan. I do have
- 5:38Speaker 5: prescription glasses and I wear Warby Parker every day for
- 5:41Speaker 5: many years.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I'm excited about this one. Give it a shot.
- 5:43Speaker 5: Warby Parker gives you quality and better looking prescription I
- 5:47Speaker 5: wear at a fraction of the going price. Our listeners

- 6:06Speaker 5: support our show and tell them Foul Territory sent you.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Nick Castianos. Obviously we have all seen what played out
- 6:13Speaker 2: with him a little bit of a divorce from the Phillies,
- 6:17Speaker 2: some different opinions from the clubhouse. Obviously we know what
- 6:20Speaker 2: happened with him, but what do you guys think about him,
- 6:24Speaker 2: you know, and the Padres landing him, and how the
- 6:27Speaker 2: Padres are reportedly elated to land a quote baller just
- 6:32Speaker 2: like Nick Castianos a Jake.
- 6:35Speaker 1: We hit on this the other day, didn't we. I
- 6:36Speaker 1: said the beer thing to me was not an issue.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I mean, and people were why crazy? I mean, I
- 6:41Speaker 1: don't think times have changed. But listen, man, Tricia, I'm
- 6:44Speaker 1: sure you've seen a guy probably have a drink in
- 6:46Speaker 1: the dugout once or twice when you were sideline recorder
- 6:50Speaker 1: for the ring.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Happened really never, No, I've never seen that. I Mean,
- 6:55Speaker 2: here's the thing, like I Nick is I I like Nick.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I've always had a great interaction with him. But and
- 7:02Speaker 2: I don't think the whole beer thing is like the
- 7:04Speaker 2: end of the world. But it obviously felt very disrespectful
- 7:08Speaker 2: in the moment. Like if I'm a manager and I'm
- 7:11Speaker 2: the front office and I'm his teammates watching that happen,
- 7:14Speaker 2: I'm kind of like, that's a sign of kind of
- 7:15Speaker 2: public disrespect.
- 7:17Speaker 1: So nobody knew he had it. No, it wasn't it
- 7:20Speaker 1: in a cup, it wasn't in a bottle, right, So
- 7:22Speaker 1: like it, I'm guarantee. I mean, I don't know the answer.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Maybe Kratz knows better. Did he actually have a bottle
- 7:27Speaker 1: of beer? Did he have it in a cup? And
- 7:29Speaker 1: then listen, this wasn't the reason why this all went down.
- 7:32Speaker 1: This all happened because there was a lot of other
- 7:34Speaker 1: things that led up to this. There was some things said,
- 7:38Speaker 1: we know that, there was some other things. It wasn't
- 7:40Speaker 1: just because of this beer. It was because of other
- 7:43Speaker 1: things that led up to this. So the beer was
- 7:46Speaker 1: just kind of the Okay, that's it. That was the
- 7:48Speaker 1: tipping point exactly. And Tricia, it was an easy out
- 7:53Speaker 1: for the Phillies because they can say, oh man, this guy,
- 7:55Speaker 1: can you matde? This guy drank a beer in the
- 7:57Speaker 1: dugout af he was out of the game. Again.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I'm not saying it's the end of the world, right,
- 8:03Speaker 2: I'm just saying I understand why some people were like, dude,
- 8:06Speaker 2: what are you doing?
- 8:06Speaker 1: Like stop? You know what I mean?
- 8:08Speaker 2: But you're right, it isn't easy out for them to
- 8:10Speaker 2: say that, And there were so many things that led
- 8:13Speaker 2: up to it. And everybody knows Nick Costianos and just
- 8:16Speaker 2: his personality and how he acts in a clubhouse, how
- 8:19Speaker 2: he acts towards the front office. So you're right, it
- 8:22Speaker 2: was a multitude of things, for sure, Eric, What do
- 8:24Speaker 2: you think.
- 8:26Speaker 3: I think everybody knows a bunch of people's different personalities.
- 8:29Speaker 3: AJ's personality, AJ's personality. Oh you know, if you want,
- 8:33Speaker 3: if you want a certain person out, you could say, oh,
- 8:36Speaker 3: AJ's personality, he just doesn't he just doesn't mess with
- 8:39Speaker 3: this clubhouse. Okay, but you brought him in and you
- 8:42Speaker 3: knew what he was. You knew he was somebody that
- 8:45Speaker 3: was going to tell you straight and do everything possible
- 8:48Speaker 3: for his teammates to win. You knew that with Nick Costianos.
- 8:51Speaker 3: So when you say, like a personality clash or whatever,
- 8:55Speaker 3: we're not in that room. And the beer thing was
- 8:58Speaker 3: not what ultimately killed it here. The beer thing was
- 9:02Speaker 3: just like the whole Liam hitting batting practice thing, like, like.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Was it inappropriate?
- 9:08Speaker 3: Well, it was only inappropriate if the people who were
- 9:11Speaker 3: put out by him taking batting practice were put out
- 9:16Speaker 3: or we're pissed about it. That's it. Like it like,
- 9:20Speaker 3: unless you're in that moment, unless you're there and you
- 9:22Speaker 3: know everything that has led up to it. Because Nick
- 9:25Speaker 3: said some things to Rob Thompson that shouldn't have been said,
- 9:30Speaker 3: but you also understand those things are said in the
- 9:33Speaker 3: heat of the moment. Now, if you wait a whole
- 9:35Speaker 3: day and then you come back in and you yell
- 9:36Speaker 3: at somebody again, maybe no, now we got to talk
- 9:40Speaker 3: about it. But again, there hasn't been very much written
- 9:45Speaker 3: or said about Nick Costiano says that bad until this moment,
- 9:49Speaker 3: or Rob Thompson, and so you have to piece the
- 9:53Speaker 3: whole story together and the beer thing. Sorry, people like,
- 9:56Speaker 3: it's just it is what it is. By the way,
- 10:01Speaker 3: Tristia and I don't know, I'm crats. I'm sure your
- 10:03Speaker 3: kids were around. My kids were fairly old. When I
- 10:05Speaker 3: got out of playing baseball. My kid would go out
- 10:08Speaker 3: there and take BP. My kids shagged with the team.
- 10:11Speaker 3: My kid was out there all the time.
- 10:13Speaker 1: And listen if we would go out there early and hit,
- 10:17Speaker 1: and if anybody came out and was like I want
- 10:18Speaker 1: to hit, we were like, okay, pick up the balls. We're done.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Like right away, you made sure. And I can't imagine.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Nick Cassianos was like, oh, we have BP at four fifteen.
- 10:26Speaker 1: And again I don't know this, but like, hey, Liam,
- 10:28Speaker 1: let's go out there and hit at four or fourteen.
- 10:31Speaker 1: So we interrupted. Oh, I mean, I would assume he
- 10:34Speaker 1: was hitting it like two o'clock in the afternoon. If
- 10:36Speaker 1: it was a playoff game. I'm sure he was there
- 10:39Speaker 1: early to hit just I mean, I'm sure again, I remember,
- 10:44Speaker 1: I'll say this. In twenty fourteen, my last year in
- 10:45Speaker 1: the playoffs, I was with the Cardinals. We're in LA, right,
- 10:48Speaker 1: and we had Matt Holiday, we had me. We had
- 10:50Speaker 1: a bunch of people, and all our kids were on
- 10:52Speaker 1: the field, right, my kid Holidays, kids who were both
- 10:54Speaker 1: first round picks. Right, one of them plays in the
- 10:56Speaker 1: big leagues. Now, Joe Torrey came out and said, we
- 10:59Speaker 1: can't have kids on the field during batting practice because
- 11:01Speaker 1: what happens if one of them gets hurt and people
- 11:03Speaker 1: are in the stands. We're like, Joe, we had these
- 11:05Speaker 1: people on the field the entire year. Now you want
- 11:08Speaker 1: to crack down because people are wh No, but my
- 11:10Speaker 1: kids new because I told my kids stay out of
- 11:13Speaker 1: the player's way. Right, you stand in the morning track,
- 11:16Speaker 1: you make sure there's nobody around you if the balls
- 11:18Speaker 1: hit to you to catch you. They're not out there
- 11:20Speaker 1: power shagging, you know, They're they're literally out there like
- 11:24Speaker 1: hiding and just having fun. And getting to talk to people.
- 11:26Speaker 1: So I don't know the whole situation, and again that's
- 11:28Speaker 1: one of the problems here. We don't know everything that
- 11:30Speaker 1: went down to exactly. But I'm just going off my
- 11:33Speaker 1: past experience. Guys, I know that I played with kids
- 11:37Speaker 1: actually make the mood better usually around the clubhouse, because
- 11:40Speaker 1: it makes you think about something other than just the
- 11:42Speaker 1: game you're about to play.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Let's talk a little bit about what's going on with
- 11:59Speaker 2: the brain saves, Right, they were dealt a little bit
- 12:02Speaker 2: of a well, we don't know yet, but they were
- 12:04Speaker 2: dealt a little bit of a blow with Hurston waldrip.
- 12:06Speaker 2: He had some elbow discomfort this week and MRI showed
- 12:09Speaker 2: loose bodies, but the ligament, they said, seemed okay. He's
- 12:14Speaker 2: gonna go see doctor Meister this week, but the Braves
- 12:19Speaker 2: have not yet said how long he.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Might be out.
- 12:23Speaker 2: And guys, we know that the Braves have already had
- 12:25Speaker 2: six starting pitchers miss at least six weeks from last year,
- 12:30Speaker 2: and they've now announced two potentially huge pitching injuries. What
- 12:35Speaker 2: are your thoughts on this AJ and the news on Hurston?
- 12:39Speaker 1: No, I mean it sucks. I mean they've already lost
- 12:42Speaker 1: Schwellenbach right with the for sixty day do o. Iile
- 12:47Speaker 1: they were counting on him, and he pitched really well
- 12:49Speaker 1: for him down the stretch last year, so they were
- 12:50Speaker 1: counting on him. They are thin, thin thin. That's why
- 12:54Speaker 1: I think Bob said it. The Braves would have been
- 12:56Speaker 1: a real nice landing spot for someone like Zach Allen
- 12:59Speaker 1: that takes the ball every fifth day and pitches I mean,
- 13:02Speaker 1: Lucas Gilito maybe might be on their wish list soon.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Excuse me, but this sucks for the Braves. And I
- 13:09Speaker 1: know producer Ladies a huge bravesand so she's not happy
- 13:12Speaker 1: today either. I don't. I don't.
- 13:15Speaker 3: I don't understand how one team can continue to have
- 13:18Speaker 3: these I'm not gonna say the freak injuries and do
- 13:22Speaker 3: we have to start thinking about the Braves in the
- 13:25Speaker 3: mindset of you know, oh, are they hurting their pitchers?
- 13:28Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Something feels different about how unlucky they've gotten with their
- 13:33Speaker 3: pitchers getting injured because I don't feel like they over
- 13:36Speaker 3: they overplay these guys, don't or overpitch these guys. I
- 13:39Speaker 3: don't feel like they're like developing this new pitch. This
- 13:43Speaker 3: is an organization that has historically developed pitching, and Herston
- 13:46Speaker 3: Waldrip is one of those guys. Like would he have
- 13:50Speaker 3: been thrust into action had they not had all those injuries?
- 13:54Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 13:55Speaker 3: But I mean anytime anytime a pitcher gets shut down,
- 13:58Speaker 3: obviously we do not know the time span, but anytime
- 14:02Speaker 3: the picture gets shut down, they take a picture of
- 14:04Speaker 3: the elbow and take a picture of the shoulder. It's
- 14:07Speaker 3: just every day they're out, it's double that time until
- 14:11Speaker 3: they just work themselves back up to be able to
- 14:14Speaker 3: throw off the mound to then be able to get
- 14:17Speaker 3: into rehabs. So that's why when you hear these guys
- 14:20Speaker 3: go down minor or major, it just becomes like, ah,
- 14:24Speaker 3: dangn Like do you see him before June? Because the
- 14:27Speaker 3: Braves really need to address this issue of depth because
- 14:33Speaker 3: of what happened last year, and it's it's a tough
- 14:35Speaker 3: way to build your roster if you just don't know
- 14:37Speaker 3: what's gonna happen.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, I mean I think on the positive side, though,
- 14:43Speaker 2: you look at that and you know, the MRI revealed
- 14:46Speaker 2: that the ligament in his elbow is fine, and you
- 14:49Speaker 2: like to hear that and it might be boned.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Why are you sighing? What were you saying? Because anytime
- 14:52Speaker 1: you anytime you hear Meister or Job or Andrews, that's
- 14:57Speaker 1: never good. I know they're just sitting in there as
- 14:59Speaker 1: a precaution, but I mean it's it's it's never good
- 15:05Speaker 1: when they have to send you to a doctor. We
- 15:08Speaker 1: need to we need to defer to injury territory. And
- 15:11Speaker 1: Will Carroll he hits the injuries really well. In no
- 15:14Speaker 1: way am I a doctor. But you're not getting bone
- 15:17Speaker 1: spurs in any type of joint because everything's fine. Bone
- 15:23Speaker 1: spurs are your body's way of saying, Okay, there's something
- 15:27Speaker 1: going on here, we have to heal it. And your
- 15:30Speaker 1: body ultimately is is healing up whatever's going on, but
- 15:34Speaker 1: it's healing it up in a way that causes an issue. Again.
- 15:38Speaker 3: So that's why I sighed, and exactly what AJ said,
- 15:42Speaker 3: like you don't just go to see meister, like like
- 15:45Speaker 3: Bob and AJ are going to go and eat at
- 15:48Speaker 3: Jing like you go and see meister because it's just
- 15:51Speaker 3: gonna be significant time. That's it, And that's that is
- 15:54Speaker 3: the that's the sigh for me, especially you know, for
- 15:57Speaker 3: a Florida kid. You know, from the University of Florida.
- 16:01Speaker 3: We just always cheer for those guys here on foul
- 16:04Speaker 3: Territory always.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Okay, well, you said something earlier. You were like, they
- 16:10Speaker 2: need to figure out what's happening here for the Braves
- 16:13Speaker 2: with their depth and stuff like that. I feel like
- 16:15Speaker 2: we always ask that question though, when teams experience a
- 16:18Speaker 2: lot of injuries during spring training and some of them
- 16:20Speaker 2: there's just totally out of their control. I mean, I
- 16:23Speaker 2: don't know if that's a fair question.
- 16:24Speaker 1: You know, listen as missus Ray as miss Ray, thank
- 16:29Speaker 1: you twenty twenty. Okay, congratulations. I mean, they had more
- 16:34Speaker 1: injuries than anything. And what have they been trying to do?
- 16:35Speaker 1: They've been trying to figure it out. Yeah, see, there
- 16:39Speaker 1: you go. What is that champions of what American League compions?
- 16:43Speaker 1: American League doesn't count. People say the Dodgers don't count.
- 16:47Speaker 1: That doesn't count for the Rays either.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Then you are so full of nonsense.
- 16:50Speaker 1: It absolutely counts. I am full of nonsense. But teams
- 16:56Speaker 1: have this. It's like weird. It's it's like certain teams
- 16:59Speaker 1: always seem to have more injuries then another team, and
- 17:01Speaker 1: you think all teams are doing the same kind of stuff.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Maybe they're not. I don't know. I don't know why
- 17:07Speaker 1: the Braves seem to have more, But there's not the
- 17:08Speaker 1: same injury. It's not like it's Tommy John. It's like
- 17:11Speaker 1: a back, it's a shoulder, it's an elbow, it's a whatever, neck,
- 17:15Speaker 1: it's a thing, it's this, it's that. It's always something different,
- 17:18Speaker 1: So maybe it's just bad luck.
- 17:21Speaker 3: I also think I also think we're gonna get the
- 17:23Speaker 3: buck here in a quick sec But you know, you
- 17:26Speaker 3: looked at Rinaldo Lopez.
- 17:29Speaker 1: It was kind of a reclamation project. Sale. Holy crap.
- 17:33Speaker 3: I mean, nobody's ever gonna deny what they got out
- 17:35Speaker 3: of Chris Sale. They traded him, they traded for him
- 17:38Speaker 3: from Boston, signed them to an extension, and they went
- 17:41Speaker 3: out and want a cy Young. But then the next
- 17:44Speaker 3: year he was you know, he was dealing with stuff.
- 17:47Speaker 3: So do they have the there's.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I don't even know if there's a sure thing anymore.
- 17:52Speaker 3: I mean, the guys that were making all their starts
- 17:54Speaker 3: before Garrett Cole he went down last year. Corbyn Burns
- 17:57Speaker 3: he went down last year, So like what that's the
- 18:00Speaker 3: sure thing for the Braves and they were just up
- 18:03Speaker 3: against it last year. I mean, for all those guys,
- 18:07Speaker 3: and then the fact that the Braves were still losing
- 18:09Speaker 3: all those guys and they were still technically kind of
- 18:13Speaker 3: in it and pushing towards the end.
- 18:15Speaker 1: To me, it shows how good this team.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Really is, and I think people are gonna be sleeping
- 18:19Speaker 3: on them in this next season.
- 18:21Speaker 6: That's what he said.
- 18:24Speaker 1: That's what he said.
- 18:25Speaker 7: That's what he said.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Oh never a dull moment with Buck Show Walter. All Right, guys,
- 18:34Speaker 2: it's time to talk a little bit about we touched
- 18:37Speaker 2: on it briefly, but what Bryce Harper said about Philly's
- 18:41Speaker 2: president Dave Dombrowski. Let's take a listen to his comments
- 18:45Speaker 2: about what Dombrowski said with the elite comment about Harper not.
- 18:51Speaker 7: Really, I mean, I don't be motivated by that kind
- 18:54Speaker 7: of stuff, you know.
- 18:54Speaker 6: I for me, it's it was kind of wild, the
- 18:57Speaker 6: whole situation of that happening.
- 19:00Speaker 7: I think the big thing for me was, you know,
- 19:02Speaker 7: when we first met with this organization, it was, hey,
- 19:06Speaker 7: you know, we're always going to keep things in house
- 19:08Speaker 7: and we expect you to do the same thing. And so,
- 19:10Speaker 7: you know, when that didn't happen kind of took me
- 19:13Speaker 7: for a run.
- 19:14Speaker 6: A little bit. So I don't know, you know, it's
- 19:17Speaker 6: a it's part of it, I guess.
- 19:19Speaker 7: You know, it's kind of kind of a wild situation,
- 19:21Speaker 7: you know that even happening. Obviously I didn't have to
- 19:23Speaker 7: hear that I wanted. Obviously I didn't have the postseason
- 19:25Speaker 7: I wanted. My numbers weren't where they where they needed
- 19:28Speaker 7: to be. I know that, And uh, you know, I
- 19:31Speaker 7: don't need to be motivated to be great, you know,
- 19:33Speaker 7: in my career anything else. So that's just not a
- 19:36Speaker 7: motivating factor for me. You know, for Dave to come
- 19:40Speaker 7: out and say those things, it's kind of wild to me. Still, what.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Okay, So obviously Bryce Harper was not happy with that.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Now when you actually do look at the comments that
- 19:50Speaker 2: Dave made, I think for Bryce, it's it's the fact
- 19:54Speaker 2: that it that it, you know, left the clubhouse, is
- 19:57Speaker 2: what he thinks, because he too admitted, right he said,
- 20:00Speaker 2: I haven't had the best I didn't have the best season.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I know my numbers aren't where they needed to be. Guys,
- 20:05Speaker 2: is this a case of Bryce Harper being a little
- 20:07Speaker 2: bit too sensitive because you know, it didn't really feel
- 20:11Speaker 2: like Dave crossed the line too terribly bad aj, what
- 20:15Speaker 2: are your thoughts.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna let ek go on this first because he's
- 20:18Speaker 1: our resident Philly homer, so I'm gonna let him answer
- 20:21Speaker 1: this before I respond. So go ahead, k let me
- 20:24Speaker 1: know your feelings. As the Philly fanatic fan, I freaking
- 20:28Speaker 1: love it.
- 20:30Speaker 3: As much as Bryce Harper says he doesn't need to
- 20:32Speaker 3: be motivated. They kind of yelled at him about you know,
- 20:38Speaker 3: the had a boy Harper and went out and hit
- 20:41Speaker 3: two homers and every time and both times he hit
- 20:43Speaker 3: the two homers, he looked at Orlando Arcia like he
- 20:48Speaker 3: remembers this stuff. Does it make him a better player
- 20:51Speaker 3: or worse player?
- 20:52Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Only he knows, but I do know that he got
- 20:57Speaker 3: called out like it wasn't even that big a deal.
- 21:01Speaker 3: And to me, I don't think Harper actually even disagrees
- 21:05Speaker 3: with what Dombrowski said. I think he just didn't like
- 21:09Speaker 3: the fact that it was said in public, kind of
- 21:13Speaker 3: like we talked about Byron Buxton, why didn't they stand
- 21:16Speaker 3: up for me in public? Like so, I guess it's
- 21:19Speaker 3: more of that, like, Hey, I'd like for you guys
- 21:22Speaker 3: to say these things behind closed doors or not in
- 21:29Speaker 3: the public. People don't want to. I guess people don't
- 21:31Speaker 3: want to get called out. But I mean, Harper wasn't
- 21:34Speaker 3: Harper wasn't as elite as he was other years. Last
- 21:40Speaker 3: year stilled a really good year. But I don't think
- 21:42Speaker 3: Harper's content with the season that he had. But you
- 21:47Speaker 3: know what Dombrowski said it, he kind of he kind
- 21:51Speaker 3: of reiterated it when he was on our show soon
- 21:54Speaker 3: after the season ended. But you know, we'll see, We'll
- 21:58Speaker 3: see how Bryce responds. Clearly he's not too pleased.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Oh you know what, he wore the shirt that said
- 22:07Speaker 1: not a lead like it's motivation. Everyone needs motivation somehow, someway.
- 22:11Speaker 1: And at this point, if it's not a world series
- 22:13Speaker 1: trying to win a World Series, which I know Bryce
- 22:15Speaker 1: Harper wants to do more than anything, then maybe it's
- 22:17Speaker 1: Dave Derombrowski saying, hey, you're not as good as you
- 22:19Speaker 1: used to be. And maybe Dave Dombrowski have we thought
- 22:21Speaker 1: that maybe Dave Dombrowski did this on purpose because he
- 22:25Speaker 1: knew what Bryce Harper would do and how he would respond,
- 22:29Speaker 1: and that he would go into the offseason and say,
- 22:30Speaker 1: you know what, Dave screwed you. I'm gonna show you
- 22:33Speaker 1: that I'm still lead. I'm gonna go out and having
- 22:34Speaker 1: a banger of a year and win an MVP, take
- 22:37Speaker 1: it away from show hey, and lead my Phillies team
- 22:39Speaker 1: to the World Series. Maybe that was mab Has anyone
- 22:43Speaker 1: even thought about that, because I listen what Dave Dombrowski
- 22:45Speaker 1: said was, Hey, he didn't have a great year basically,
- 22:48Speaker 1: and we need him to be great again. And yeah,
- 22:54Speaker 1: we all know that they need to be great. They
- 22:57Speaker 1: need j T to bounce back, they need Turner and
- 22:59Speaker 1: continue to be good, they need Boem to continue to improve,
- 23:02Speaker 1: they need Bryce to be Bryce, right, they need no
- 23:04Speaker 1: lot to get better. Like there's a lot of things
- 23:06Speaker 1: that but just because it's Bryce, Like, good for you, Bryce,
- 23:09Speaker 1: that you're gonna use this for motivation because we all
- 23:11Speaker 1: have to be motivated by something.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, he says he's not going to use
- 23:15Speaker 2: it as motivation, but you can't help but think he will.
- 23:20Speaker 2: And again I kind of agree with you, guys. We're like,
- 23:22Speaker 2: I don't think Dave was basically saying like, hey, this
- 23:26Speaker 2: guy is elite. We need him to be himself and
- 23:29Speaker 2: be elite, right, And so I don't know that I
- 23:32Speaker 2: feel that he crossed any line either.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 23:36Speaker 2: We'll see if it actually does motivate him.
- 23:38Speaker 1: All right.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Bryce Harper had a few more things to say this
- 23:42Speaker 2: time concerning the Dodgers, how they spend their money and
- 23:46Speaker 2: how they run their club. Take a listen, thanks, Yeah.
- 23:48Speaker 6: No, I mean I love what the Dodgers do obviously.
- 23:51Speaker 7: I mean they pay the money, they spend the money.
- 23:53Speaker 7: I mean, they're a great team. They understand how to
- 23:54Speaker 7: run it. They run their team like a business, and
- 23:56Speaker 7: they run it the right way. They understand where they
- 23:58Speaker 7: need to put their money into. But also people don't
- 24:00Speaker 7: look at this either.
- 24:01Speaker 6: Their draft and their development is unbelievable.
- 24:03Speaker 7: Like they draft and they developed, and then they trade
- 24:04Speaker 7: those guys for big name guys and they can spend
- 24:06Speaker 7: their money. So it's I don't know, it bothers me
- 24:10Speaker 7: when everybody talks about the Dodgers just spending money.
- 24:12Speaker 6: No, they draft, they develop, they do it the right way.
- 24:13Speaker 7: They understand what it takes to be the best team
- 24:15Speaker 7: in baseball, and you've seen that in the last two years.
- 24:18Speaker 6: They have so much depth.
- 24:19Speaker 7: I mean, I think it's Will Klein, the kid's name
- 24:21Speaker 7: was came in it threw six shutout in EAMs, Like
- 24:23Speaker 7: I mean, he was sitting in Arizona two weeks before.
- 24:25Speaker 6: Like, they have that type of dynamic on their club,
- 24:28Speaker 6: and that's what you when you think about drafting, developing
- 24:31Speaker 6: and things like that.
- 24:31Speaker 7: That's that's why they win, and that's why when they
- 24:33Speaker 7: win a lot.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Of games each year.
- 24:35Speaker 7: So, you know, I love what they do. I understand
- 24:38Speaker 7: what they do. I understand the madness behind it. But again,
- 24:41Speaker 7: like each team at baseball has an opportunity to do
- 24:44Speaker 7: the same, say the same thing. Maybe not at the
- 24:46Speaker 7: m RF and echelon of money, but they can draft.
- 24:48Speaker 6: They can develop, they can trade, and you know, I
- 24:52Speaker 6: just I don't know. I think a lot of teams
- 24:53Speaker 6: can do that in baseball, and they should.
- 24:57Speaker 2: So that's an interesting comment from from right Harper, guys,
- 25:00Speaker 2: and I want to get your thoughts on it. Basically,
- 25:02Speaker 2: he's saying he doesn't like it when people say that
- 25:05Speaker 2: the Dodgers are just out there spending money, that they
- 25:07Speaker 2: do a lot of other things development wise. Really well too,
- 25:11Speaker 2: thoughts on that aging.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it's weird that a Boris client would come out
- 25:15Speaker 1: and say I don't want a salary cab and I
- 25:16Speaker 1: like teams spending money. It was weird that he Manny Machado, Boris'
- 25:20Speaker 1: client did the same thing, right. I mean, these guys
- 25:22Speaker 1: come out and say we don't want a salary cap.
- 25:23Speaker 1: We've had Scott Boris on here. I guess what he says,
- 25:26Speaker 1: we want teams to spend money. The teams to spend
- 25:28Speaker 1: money helped the game, and I agree with that. So listen,
- 25:32Speaker 1: this is this is you know what, Bryce has a
- 25:33Speaker 1: nice contract because you know why what team Bryce is on?
- 25:36Speaker 1: The Phillies And what do the Phillies do? John Middleton
- 25:39Speaker 1: spends money. He tries to win. It's awesome as a player, like, oh, hey,
- 25:43Speaker 1: we need Kylee warberback. Okay, we'll go give him this
- 25:45Speaker 1: a contract. Oh we want JT back, we'll go get him.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Oh we didn't get Boba Schetz and we'll just flip
- 25:50Speaker 1: the JT. Okay, fine, we want on Aaron Nola back
- 25:53Speaker 1: boom here. It is like, this is awesome. Yes, is
- 25:55Speaker 1: a player, you want teams to spend money because you
- 25:57Speaker 1: know what, it helps other players make money. And that's
- 26:00Speaker 1: we're at the end of the day. As much as
- 26:01Speaker 1: we all love baseball, ek, we did this to help
- 26:04Speaker 1: support our family, not only for our life, but for
- 26:07Speaker 1: our kids' lives and hopefully their kids kids.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Players do want to get paid. Yes, I'm not going
- 26:13Speaker 3: to deny that players want to play the best team
- 26:18Speaker 3: to beat them to win the World Series. That's what
- 26:21Speaker 3: I'm hearing from Manny Machado. That's what I'm hearing from
- 26:24Speaker 3: Bryce Harper here. Bryce Harper didn't say, oh, he didn't
- 26:27Speaker 3: list off all the contracts that they gave that the
- 26:30Speaker 3: Dodgers gave. He listed off what they're doing with player development,
- 26:33Speaker 3: what they're doing with the draft, how they're handling players
- 26:37Speaker 3: inside the clubhouse, families, all those things. He liked what
- 26:42Speaker 3: the Dodgers are doing because they're fully into wanting to win.
- 26:47Speaker 3: He's not saying, oh, you know, there's a riff between
- 26:51Speaker 3: me and the Phillies. I don't think the Phillies are
- 26:53Speaker 3: doing it as well. No, that's not what he's saying.
- 26:56Speaker 3: There was a big, you know, there's a big scuttle
- 26:58Speaker 3: butt about the fact that he was sitting there trashing
- 27:02Speaker 3: the Phillies. No, he's just saying that the Dodgers are
- 27:04Speaker 3: doing it really well. And he was mentioning things that
- 27:07Speaker 3: a lot of teams can do, they're just choosing not to.
- 27:11Speaker 3: The Angels are choosing not to spend on their infrastructure.
- 27:14Speaker 3: They will never get to the same spot that the
- 27:17Speaker 3: Dodgers are if they don't choose to spend on their infrastructure,
- 27:21Speaker 3: choose to put time and money into the development of players.
- 27:26Speaker 3: That's what he was saying.
- 27:37Speaker 2: All right, guys, it is time for hot corner. We're
- 27:41Speaker 2: gonna start with the Red Sox and they're spending obviously,
- 27:44Speaker 2: we know that they increase their twenty twenty six payroll
- 27:47Speaker 2: with productions, placing them around two hundred and sixty seven million.
- 27:51Speaker 2: But what are you guys seeing from the Red Sox
- 27:53Speaker 2: spending so far?
- 27:55Speaker 1: I need one more bat. They went on and got
- 27:58Speaker 1: some nice players the free agent pitching wise, but I
- 28:01Speaker 1: still think they need a bat. And wherever that bat
- 28:03Speaker 1: will come from, I don't know. They You know, if
- 28:05Speaker 1: people forget they traded for Sonny Gray, they traded for
- 28:08Speaker 1: Wilson trus Yes, they signed Ranger Suarez, they already had Crochet.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Their spending is fine. They just I think they need
- 28:15Speaker 1: to go get another bat and they can really maybe
- 28:17Speaker 1: try to compete with the Blue Jays and the Yankees.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I think the Blue Jays.
- 28:22Speaker 3: I think the Blue Jays went in to build a dynasty,
- 28:25Speaker 3: and I think the Red Sox have kind of gone
- 28:27Speaker 3: into hope to win this year. You talk about spending,
- 28:31Speaker 3: you know, it feels like they brought in a bunch
- 28:33Speaker 3: of guys on some nil deals. It's like, well, you
- 28:36Speaker 3: know what, if it doesn't work out, we'll just go
- 28:38Speaker 3: get the next guys. I just didn't think that the
- 28:41Speaker 3: Red Sox. I thought the Red Sox were in a
- 28:44Speaker 3: prime position to be able to, hey, you know what,
- 28:46Speaker 3: we don't have Dever's money on the books, so we
- 28:50Speaker 3: can do X y Z. Like they could go out
- 28:54Speaker 3: and get Ranger, they could go out and get Sonny Gray,
- 28:57Speaker 3: who's on an expiring contract. Not saying any of those
- 29:00Speaker 3: guys aren't gonna do well, not saying Contreras isn't gonna
- 29:03Speaker 3: do well at first, It's saying it seemed like the
- 29:06Speaker 3: Red Sox were in that mode where it was like, Okay,
- 29:09Speaker 3: now the Red Sox have an opportunity to strike. Now
- 29:12Speaker 3: we're at the end of the off season, we're beginning
- 29:14Speaker 3: of spring training, and they didn't quite replace that Bregman player.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Who that player was in the offseason I don't know,
- 29:22Speaker 3: because Bregman to that locker room, and we'll get to
- 29:25Speaker 3: the comments from Sam Kennedy, but Bregman to that locker
- 29:29Speaker 3: room could have ramifications that we just don't know how it's.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Gonna go yet.
- 29:34Speaker 3: And I think they I think they spent fine, it's fine.
- 29:37Speaker 3: They're not spending like the Red Sox of Old who like, yeah,
- 29:41Speaker 3: you know what, we're starved for another World Series Championship.
- 29:44Speaker 3: We're going to go in and do it.
- 29:45Speaker 1: You know.
- 29:46Speaker 3: They're just like, hey, you know what, if we do good,
- 29:47Speaker 3: we do good, We're gonna make a ton of money.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Okay, you mentioned the Bregman quotes, so we got to
- 29:52Speaker 2: talk about that because there's a couple quotes to get to.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Sam Kennedy said, if Alex Bregman wanted to be here
- 29:59Speaker 2: all Lee, he would be here.
- 30:02Speaker 1: AJ.
- 30:03Speaker 2: What's your reaction to that?
- 30:06Speaker 1: Uh, well maybe then I guess he just didn't want
- 30:09Speaker 1: to be there. I mean, I don't know. And that's
- 30:12Speaker 1: the case. And they offered him the no trade, and
- 30:14Speaker 1: they offered him everything he wanted, and maybe he got
- 30:17Speaker 1: more money from the Cubby Bears, so he did work.
- 30:22Speaker 1: There's a reason he didn't want to be there. They
- 30:24Speaker 1: didn't give him something he didn't just be like, you
- 30:26Speaker 1: know what, I had a terrible time in Boston. We
- 30:30Speaker 1: made it to the playoffs. I had a great year.
- 30:32Speaker 1: I just don't want to go back there because everything
- 30:35Speaker 1: is equal. No, there was something that wasn't equal, that's it.
- 30:38Speaker 1: But there was money, no trade whatever it was. There
- 30:40Speaker 1: was something that they didn't give him that he wanted
- 30:42Speaker 1: that the Cubs did.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Can I say this, I'm rubber your galoo. Whatever you
- 30:47Speaker 3: say bounces off of me and sticks to you. Maybe
- 30:51Speaker 3: the Red Sox didn't want him to be there badly enough. Maybe,
- 30:55Speaker 3: I mean, why why is this? Why does Sam Kennedy
- 30:58Speaker 3: need to say that? Well, maybe he just didn't want
- 31:00Speaker 3: to be there. I have a hard hard time believing
- 31:03Speaker 3: he didn't want to be there. But maybe if you
- 31:05Speaker 3: were not seen as a priority. And the way the
- 31:09Speaker 3: players have seen his priorities are the things that Aj
- 31:12Speaker 3: just said, no trade clause in your contract, because seen
- 31:15Speaker 3: what the organization's done to dudes with no trade clauses, okay,
- 31:19Speaker 3: or without no trade clauses.
- 31:21Speaker 1: So he had to get that in there.
- 31:23Speaker 3: To the fact that your value is based on how
- 31:26Speaker 3: much money a team offers you you didn't quite offer enough.
- 31:29Speaker 1: We've heard little.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Things come out that it was like, you know, they
- 31:33Speaker 3: just didn't believe that he had another offer, and then whoops,
- 31:37Speaker 3: he did have another offer. Now he's not back to me.
- 31:40Speaker 3: I don't think this is a Alex Bregman's mad thing.
- 31:44Speaker 3: This is a maybe the Red Sox just weren't totally
- 31:48Speaker 3: into completely getting it done to sign him, because if
- 31:51Speaker 3: they were, they would have done a little bit extra
- 31:54Speaker 3: to get him.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Okay, speaking of the Red Sox, let's get to what
- 31:58Speaker 2: Tom Warner said about. Obviously we know about the Raphael
- 32:01Speaker 2: Devers situation with the Red Sox. He said, I don't
- 32:04Speaker 2: like to speak This is from a Boston Globe article.
- 32:06Speaker 2: He said, I don't like to speak ill of any player.
- 32:09Speaker 2: I'd like to say that he's a wonderful person. But
- 32:12Speaker 2: of course, when we had an injury at first base,
- 32:15Speaker 2: his unwillingness to play that position was extremely discouraging. It
- 32:20Speaker 2: was a discouraging episode. Just pick up a glove, so guys,
- 32:24Speaker 2: I find it interesting. He's like, I don't want to
- 32:26Speaker 2: speak ill, but uh yeah, that was not good.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Pick up a glove.
- 32:30Speaker 2: What do you think about that?
- 32:31Speaker 1: Aj? I don't want to speak ill, but just pick
- 32:35Speaker 1: up the phone and call the guy before you sign
- 32:37Speaker 1: Alex Bregman, it all could have been avoided. Just pick
- 32:41Speaker 1: up the phone and call it. Dude, I don't know.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Have Alex Corra call him, have anybody call him, his
- 32:47Speaker 1: agent call him. Heck, I don't know. Pick a guy,
- 32:50Speaker 1: Pick anybody you want to pick. Pick. I don't know
- 32:53Speaker 1: any ex Red Sox player. I have Kevin Mallar call
- 32:56Speaker 1: him and tell him that we're signing Alex Pragman. You're
- 32:58Speaker 1: not gonna be a third baseman. What he was mad?
- 33:00Speaker 1: He was just mad about you, just crass. Just mentioned.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Players want to feel wanted, right, Raffie Devers didn't feel
- 33:06Speaker 1: like after they sign him to the long term deal
- 33:09Speaker 1: that he was wanted the way that they thought he was.
- 33:11Speaker 1: They hurt his feelings. He didn't want to play first base.
- 33:14Speaker 1: You traded him wait to go? What did they say
- 33:19Speaker 1: in the movie?
- 33:20Speaker 3: I said, with all due respect, you can't just say
- 33:23Speaker 3: whatever you want. Whenever you say, well, I'd like to
- 33:27Speaker 3: say he's a wonderful person. But maybe this is why
- 33:32Speaker 3: owners don't speak, because owners are always going to get
- 33:36Speaker 3: you know, they're always going to get the raw end
- 33:37Speaker 3: of the deal because they're sitting there going, well, yeah,
- 33:40Speaker 3: fans think we should just spend more, spend more, spend more. Yes,
- 33:45Speaker 3: you're correct, and people are going to say, well, the Dodgers,
- 33:47Speaker 3: they just spend thing. They just spend all the money,
- 33:49Speaker 3: and money solves everything. Communication the best organizations. You heard
- 33:55Speaker 3: it so many times, it's all about communication. We had
- 33:58Speaker 3: the issue with Bryce Harper communication, Costianos communication, Raffi Devers communication.
- 34:05Speaker 3: You don't need to talk to aircrats when he's on
- 34:06Speaker 3: your roster because you're gonna cut him at some point
- 34:10Speaker 3: or he's gonna do good and you're going to keep
- 34:12Speaker 3: him there. You need to talk to Raffi Devers, Bryce Harper,
- 34:16Speaker 3: Nick Castianos, Mike trout Manny Machad like all those guys.
- 34:19Speaker 3: Communicate with them, and your organization will run way more fluidly.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I agree with you, But there must be a reason
- 34:28Speaker 2: that they're not all doing that, because most of them
- 34:30Speaker 2: do not do that. All right, let's get to Luis
- 34:33Speaker 2: Wan Hifo. He gets three point five million guaranteed from
- 34:36Speaker 2: the Brewers, per a source. He can earn another one
- 34:38Speaker 2: point five million in incentives, and the deal includes a
- 34:42Speaker 2: ten million dollar mutual option for twenty twenty seven that
- 34:47Speaker 2: is from our friend Mark Finzand guys, what do you
- 34:51Speaker 2: think of this deal? In what transpired Aday?
- 34:54Speaker 1: Well, mutual options almost never get picked up, so truly
- 34:57Speaker 1: one your deal. I mean mutual options like a almost
- 35:00Speaker 1: never get picked up. So because either the player does
- 35:03Speaker 1: really well and he wants to be a free agent,
- 35:05Speaker 1: or he doesn't do that well and the team's like, yeah,
- 35:06Speaker 1: we don't really want to give you ten million, so
- 35:08Speaker 1: hit the road. So yeah, I mean to one year deal.
- 35:11Speaker 1: He helps the Brewers. He's another you know after losing
- 35:14Speaker 1: and getting rid of Durban and some of the other guys. Yeah, great,
- 35:17Speaker 1: great Brewers, Yeah, one hundred percent.
- 35:21Speaker 3: I mean he could be could he be a ten
- 35:24Speaker 3: million dollar player? Like if he plays himself into a
- 35:26Speaker 3: ten million dollar a year player like his mutual option is,
- 35:30Speaker 3: then he's not going to pick it up because you know,
- 35:34Speaker 3: there's there's definitely there's definitely upside to Luis Ronhifo. Are
- 35:40Speaker 3: the are the Brewers going.
- 35:42Speaker 1: To be able to unlock that?
- 35:45Speaker 3: Or is he going to be right a little bit
- 35:48Speaker 3: around like below the league average? Can he do the
- 35:50Speaker 3: I think it was twenty four. Yeah, twenty four. In
- 35:53Speaker 3: the first half he was he was the best version
- 35:57Speaker 3: of himself. Is he a positive war player?
- 36:00Speaker 1: Yes?
- 36:00Speaker 3: Could he be a two war player for them if
- 36:02Speaker 3: he continues to or if he continues to unlock what
- 36:06Speaker 3: he did in the first half of twenty four. It's
- 36:08Speaker 3: a lot of ifs. But they have their third baseman
- 36:11Speaker 3: now I don't have to question if it's gonna be
- 36:13Speaker 3: Jet Williams or if it's gonna be somebody moving to
- 36:16Speaker 3: or Bryce Terang moving to short and Joey Ortiz moving
- 36:18Speaker 3: to third. Like, I think they have their third basement
- 36:21Speaker 3: and they'll roll with it.
