- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to a DM podcast.
- 0:03Speaker 2: We'll try to keep it as nice as we can,
- 0:04Speaker 2: but you might hear the occasional swear word in No
- 0:06Speaker 2: Dribble Don't tell Mom. Hello, and welcome to No Dribble,
- 0:22Speaker 2: the podcast where we talk about netball, but we talk
- 0:25Speaker 2: about so much more. And this week we'll be talking
- 0:27Speaker 2: about how some people got five out of four in
- 0:31Speaker 2: the tipping comp and yes, and some people got a
- 0:34Speaker 2: really good parking space today. And those some people are
- 0:38Speaker 2: me Carolyn Swindell and I'm here in Sydney.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Wow, you're on fire.
- 0:43Speaker 1: It's Catherine Cox and I did not on either of
- 0:46Speaker 1: those fronts.
- 0:48Speaker 4: And Liz and I'm today Laid Laid.
- 0:52Speaker 3: What are you doing in Radelaide?
- 0:54Speaker 5: Well, I mean I have spent the last two days prepping. Well,
- 0:58Speaker 5: I'm here to watch my door from my niece play netball.
- 1:02Speaker 5: They're playing in the Marist Schools tournament, which is pretty cool.
- 1:04Speaker 5: So all the Marist Catholic schools for around Australia have
- 1:08Speaker 5: this national tournament so started today and my daughter and
- 1:13Speaker 5: my niece are playing in the team, which means that
- 1:15Speaker 5: my sister and my mum and I are here and
- 1:18Speaker 5: so we've spent the first two days, well the last
- 1:20Speaker 5: two days Saturday Sunday, prepping for the tournament by going
- 1:24Speaker 5: out to lunch and going to winery.
- 1:26Speaker 6: I think that's ready good high performance.
- 1:28Speaker 1: You had a decast station at Darrenburg yesterday or Saturday.
- 1:33Speaker 4: At Darry's restaurant.
- 1:34Speaker 5: Yeah, so we went to Anyone who's been up to
- 1:37Speaker 5: the McClaren vale will know the very controversial building, the
- 1:40Speaker 5: Big Q.
- 1:40Speaker 4: But Darrenberg Winery.
- 1:42Speaker 5: So we went up there and did a tasting and
- 1:45Speaker 5: we sort of had a good go at the tasting.
- 1:48Speaker 4: We tasted a breath of the wines and then and
- 1:53Speaker 4: then we went to lunch.
- 1:55Speaker 5: So we went for the dig at the eight course
- 1:56Speaker 5: diga station and I swear to God like course is
- 2:00Speaker 5: six seven eight. I was at your courage but you'll
- 2:03Speaker 5: be pleased a little while at the end and my
- 2:06Speaker 5: sister and I both upgraded to the Lobster special, which
- 2:09Speaker 5: was an extra twenty five bucks, and we went for
- 2:10Speaker 5: the We went for the wine pairing as well. So
- 2:13Speaker 5: happily Mum was a designated drama and it was a
- 2:17Speaker 5: very funny afternoon hysterical.
- 2:19Speaker 1: You have the problem with those degas stations, particularly when
- 2:21Speaker 1: it's the matching wines. Is the wines get a bit
- 2:24Speaker 1: like there's some stickies at the end, and then they
- 2:26Speaker 1: bring in the fancy whatever. That bit makes me feel sick,
- 2:29Speaker 1: so by you one hundred percent by the end of
- 2:31Speaker 1: you like, oh, I just need a plane something and
- 2:34Speaker 1: just a big deep breath for a minute.
- 2:36Speaker 6: I don't think you can do a degastation for dinner.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I think it has to be a lunch because if
- 2:41Speaker 2: ever I do a degastation, particularly any wine pairing, it's
- 2:44Speaker 2: like by six o'clock, I'm like.
- 2:45Speaker 6: I am out out for the cout. Now.
- 2:51Speaker 5: Well that's how we were, like, we just came home.
- 2:53Speaker 5: We came back to our house where we were saying,
- 2:55Speaker 5: we just light on our back down.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Bellies and yeah, yes.
- 3:00Speaker 5: We we went up to another winery and we went
- 3:03Speaker 5: up to Harden in the Adelaide Hills, which if anyone's
- 3:05Speaker 5: been just lovely. And then we went to another winery
- 3:08Speaker 5: and then we were we were looked at our watchers
- 3:12Speaker 5: and we're like, because we had to get back for
- 3:14Speaker 5: you know, it's a Catholic netball carnival, so we had
- 3:17Speaker 5: to go to Mass and we were late.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Were it wasn't drunk. It was just emotional.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Well and then thought.
- 3:37Speaker 3: And we thought we.
- 3:38Speaker 5: Were going to be so clever and sneaking in the back,
- 3:40Speaker 5: and we're with my mum, who's like, you know, she's
- 3:42Speaker 5: a good Catholic and she goes to massive, thought, well,
- 3:44Speaker 5: just put mom in the front.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Were sliding behind her. And but it wasn't a regular church.
- 3:49Speaker 5: Was at this school hall and the entrance was from
- 3:52Speaker 5: the front side the Walk of Shame.
- 3:55Speaker 1: And it's not like it doesn't stand out too like,
- 3:57Speaker 1: oh my god, is that was allous?
- 3:59Speaker 3: Oh my god, that was allus. The whispers go around
- 4:01Speaker 3: the church. Is she walking?
- 4:03Speaker 6: Somebody to give her a head.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Anyway?
- 4:07Speaker 4: So it was fun. So that's great. It's lovely here.
- 4:09Speaker 5: And you know, I've walked in and the first person
- 4:12Speaker 5: I walked into Kath was Alex Hodge, who used to
- 4:14Speaker 5: say at and the Thunderbirds.
- 4:16Speaker 4: And she's a selector. What yeah?
- 4:19Speaker 6: I said, what are you doing here?
- 4:20Speaker 4: She goes, I'm selecting? Are you coaching? I said, nah,
- 4:23Speaker 4: I'm just.
- 4:23Speaker 5: Watching my daughter and my niece play. And I said,
- 4:27Speaker 5: you don't even have to watch their team. I just
- 4:29Speaker 5: tell you, like you just select the whole team.
- 4:31Speaker 4: And she just laughed at me. So, yeah, she's here selecting.
- 4:34Speaker 3: So oh that's gold.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Hey, And did I did I also see you at
- 4:37Speaker 1: the markets finding some Dubai chocolate?
- 4:39Speaker 5: Oh? Yes, So Saturday morning we go to the markets
- 4:43Speaker 5: and I said to my sister and my mum and
- 4:45Speaker 5: also two of my aunties are here because we do
- 4:47Speaker 5: travel as a pack. And I said, right, I've got
- 4:51Speaker 5: to get this to buy chocolate. So we wander around
- 4:53Speaker 5: and we made pigs of ourselves at like, we bought
- 4:55Speaker 5: all this Chackle three and Gee's and dips and everything
- 4:59Speaker 5: else Adbai chocolate. So I walked out and I'm like, yeah,
- 5:02Speaker 5: I need Somedbai chocolate. And then I looked at his.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Twenty five bucks for like a block. And this might
- 5:11Speaker 4: be controversial. I had some last night.
- 5:14Speaker 6: You're giving it wheels like you're You're not a sweet person,
- 5:18Speaker 6: are you.
- 5:18Speaker 2: You're like, like, give me the Dubai sausage rolls, give
- 5:22Speaker 2: me the and I am all over it.
- 5:27Speaker 5: Yeah, for breakfast, I did have a Moroccan sausage roll,
- 5:30Speaker 5: which was much nicer. So when you when you guys
- 5:32Speaker 5: see me, you'll be like, how did this put on
- 5:34Speaker 5: twenty kilograms?
- 5:35Speaker 4: She went to Adelaide for four days. So yeah, I was.
- 5:37Speaker 5: I had a taste last night and we're all sitting
- 5:40Speaker 5: and we all had to go, and we just thought
- 5:42Speaker 5: it was just a little bit sweet for us if
- 5:44Speaker 5: it was that pisashio filling with a dark chocolate around
- 5:48Speaker 5: the edge and that.
- 5:50Speaker 1: And there's such massive pieces too, like you only need
- 5:54Speaker 1: one little bite of it. Do you remember when we
- 5:56Speaker 1: went to the market. So this is pre being professional
- 5:59Speaker 1: sport where we could go and play in Adelaide and
- 6:01Speaker 1: then you could hang around. You didn't have to jump
- 6:02Speaker 1: on the plane and come back and do your recovery
- 6:04Speaker 1: and whatever.
- 6:05Speaker 3: But we had a.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Game down there and we'd planned to stay the whole weekend.
- 6:09Speaker 1: It must have been like a Friday night because we
- 6:11Speaker 1: had the whole weekend. All the partners came down on
- 6:15Speaker 1: the Saturday morning. The plan was to get let loose
- 6:18Speaker 1: in the Adelaide markets and Lizard Matthew might have had
- 6:21Speaker 1: entree and you know whoever else had nibbles or someone
- 6:25Speaker 1: had maine, and so we had to go in there
- 6:27Speaker 1: and buy our ingredients.
- 6:29Speaker 3: For whatever we were going to cook up.
- 6:30Speaker 1: And then we all got in our cars and drove
- 6:32Speaker 1: to McLaren var we had a big house and then
- 6:35Speaker 1: we just proceeded to have the world's best dinner party.
- 6:38Speaker 3: So fun and get on the drink. It was unreal,
- 6:41Speaker 3: wasn't it fun?
- 6:42Speaker 5: But do you remember we turned up a bit early
- 6:43Speaker 5: to this house and we thought, oh, we'll just see
- 6:49Speaker 5: if we can drop our bags off before we go
- 6:51Speaker 5: out and choose our wine for dinner. And we got in,
- 6:54Speaker 5: we put up in the driveway and this woman who
- 6:56Speaker 5: was obviously cleaning the accommodation ran out tell us it
- 7:00Speaker 5: wasn't ready, and she took this massive tumble and and
- 7:04Speaker 5: Selena Gilsonan was in the car with me, and she yielded.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Her husband, get out, get out and over up.
- 7:09Speaker 5: So Tim Selender's husband and Matthew the meat tray got
- 7:12Speaker 5: out and went and helped her up, and she was
- 7:15Speaker 5: all she was really sort of.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Like you know if you fall over in front of
- 7:19Speaker 4: someone and you just like like a bit all over
- 7:21Speaker 4: the shop.
- 7:22Speaker 5: She's like, that's not ready, not ready, And we're like, no, no,
- 7:24Speaker 5: it's fine, we'll just do you mind if we just
- 7:25Speaker 5: drop our bags and she's like, oh, oh okay, And
- 7:29Speaker 5: then then we sort of checked that she was okay,
- 7:33Speaker 5: and she was. She was really sort of agitated, and
- 7:36Speaker 5: then we went out and we got our wines. We
- 7:38Speaker 5: came back that afternoon and the same woman walked out
- 7:41Speaker 5: of the main house and she was beautifully dressed and
- 7:44Speaker 5: had her hair and makeup done.
- 7:45Speaker 4: And we said to.
- 7:46Speaker 5: Her, oh, are you okay after you fell out of
- 7:49Speaker 5: this one, and she said, no, no, that was not me.
- 7:53Speaker 4: We're like what she said, No, that was the cleaner,
- 7:57Speaker 4: and she wouldn't but it was.
- 8:01Speaker 3: It was the same woman.
- 8:02Speaker 4: I love that.
- 8:03Speaker 2: It's like either she has a twin sister who she
- 8:06Speaker 2: treats very poorly, or she's insane.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to go with the ladder. But it
- 8:13Speaker 1: was a very It's the very funniest way to start
- 8:16Speaker 1: the troup.
- 8:17Speaker 5: The funniest thing was it was about a three minute
- 8:20Speaker 5: period where we were trying to convince her that we
- 8:22Speaker 5: saw her fall over and we're checking if she was okay.
- 8:25Speaker 5: She was trying to convince us that that wasn't her,
- 8:27Speaker 5: that was a cleaning lady, and it was like being
- 8:29Speaker 5: in the Twilight.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Zone, do you remember, And then she just disappeared.
- 8:32Speaker 5: For the rest of the weekend, she just wouldn't show
- 8:34Speaker 5: her face and it was so awkward.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Anyway, it didn't matter.
- 8:37Speaker 1: But do you remember how they had the house that
- 8:39Speaker 1: we were in, and then there was the main house
- 8:41Speaker 1: that she came out of initially, so later in the
- 8:44Speaker 1: it might have been the next day and we were
- 8:46Speaker 1: on the drink again myself, it might have been Jane
- 8:49Speaker 1: Olschwager decided to go look through this other house to
- 8:51Speaker 1: see if we could find the twin.
- 8:53Speaker 6: See if there was any if someone was.
- 8:57Speaker 3: This other person, because we knew they went home. Oh
- 9:00Speaker 3: my god.
- 9:05Speaker 2: So before we move off Adelaide, this podcast is everything
- 9:08Speaker 2: to everyone, and we like to talk about things we
- 9:10Speaker 2: have no expertise in. I like the Darrenberg Cube. I'm
- 9:14Speaker 2: a fan. Where do you guys land on it?
- 9:17Speaker 3: Absolutely no idea what you're talking about?
- 9:19Speaker 6: Okay, yep, good.
- 9:20Speaker 4: I like it.
- 9:21Speaker 5: And it's full of art. So there's a Salvador daily exhibition.
- 9:24Speaker 5: They've got some great sculpture and stuff out the front.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Now I'm a fan of it too.
- 9:30Speaker 5: It's terribly dry, well, it was terribly dry here and
- 9:32Speaker 5: then I turned up and now today it's torrential rain,
- 9:35Speaker 5: but at which they.
- 9:36Speaker 4: Really do need. So I think the cube's really interesting.
- 9:40Speaker 5: It's like it's not and it's not a cube. It's
- 9:42Speaker 5: called a cube, but it's like it's like a Rubik's cube.
- 9:44Speaker 5: It's been sort of half sort of screwed around a bit.
- 9:47Speaker 5: It's fantastic. I think it's great, and it's got some
- 9:50Speaker 5: great art and you do your tasting at the top
- 9:52Speaker 5: so you get this beautiful view of the whole MacLaren Vale.
- 9:54Speaker 4: It's fantastic.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Oh it sounds good.
- 9:56Speaker 2: When we were in Margaret River with the family a
- 9:59Speaker 2: couple of years ago, we went to vas Felix, and
- 10:01Speaker 2: you know, Vas Felix has an eagle as the as
- 10:05Speaker 2: their logo, and there's a sign there that tells you
- 10:07Speaker 2: why it's their logo. When they first set up the winery,
- 10:12Speaker 2: they got they trained an eagle to get rid of
- 10:14Speaker 2: all of the rodents and pests and things in the
- 10:19Speaker 2: in the vineyard. And they trained this thing for a
- 10:22Speaker 2: long time and the very first time they let it
- 10:24Speaker 2: go for a flight, it just pissed off.
- 10:26Speaker 6: Never to be seen.
- 10:28Speaker 2: So they went, well, I guess that's the logo. All right,
- 10:34Speaker 2: Well we'll make that our logo.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Oh no, I thought you're going to say it flew
- 10:37Speaker 1: down and found a patron and picked.
- 10:38Speaker 6: An eye out and maybe who knows.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Oh, we have eagles at our place.
- 10:44Speaker 5: Actually, when we first when the real estate agent first
- 10:48Speaker 5: took us up to our farm, there was these two
- 10:51Speaker 5: beautiful wedge started eagles flying around and so, and I
- 10:54Speaker 5: really wanted to buy it. So I went and found
- 10:56Speaker 5: some mythological story that eagles are good black and I
- 10:59Speaker 5: showed it to Matthew. I was like, see this place,
- 11:01Speaker 5: it's for us because there were eagles here and eagles
- 11:03Speaker 5: are good luck. But during droughts and stuff, the wedges
- 11:06Speaker 5: have attacked like calves. And and then we've lost a
- 11:12Speaker 5: few chocks recently to the wedges.
- 11:13Speaker 3: So do you know it's there?
- 11:17Speaker 4: Yeah, because I god, it's.
- 11:21Speaker 5: Want to take one of the choks and there was
- 11:22Speaker 5: just a pile of feathers left.
- 11:25Speaker 4: It's amazing, like they are. They are killers.
- 11:28Speaker 5: Like when they come in, they come in so hard
- 11:30Speaker 5: and fast, they've got their claws out. If I wasn't
- 11:33Speaker 5: worried about losing, you know, the egg laying machines, I
- 11:36Speaker 5: would have been like fascinated by it.
- 11:38Speaker 4: They're amazing creatures.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Oh, the farm is brutal.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Death on the farm Catherine.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Sex and Death and she's just talking about the meat trait.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Good lord and Catherine, tell us about your weekend birthday birthday,
- 12:01Speaker 2: thank you. A lot of people have a birthday around
- 12:05Speaker 2: these couple of days, so it was Caitlin Bassett's on
- 12:06Speaker 2: the twenty third.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Dan Ryan was on the twenty third. I was on
- 12:10Speaker 1: the twenty fourth with about five other people.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I know. Crazy.
- 12:13Speaker 2: That's interesting because there's a lot of people. My birthday
- 12:16Speaker 2: is in the back end of September. A lot of
- 12:18Speaker 2: people have a birthday then, which I put down to
- 12:20Speaker 2: the Christmas goose. Right, it's just you once a year,
- 12:24Speaker 2: sure whatever, what's nine months before in the end of
- 12:28Speaker 2: it's really actually ten start a spring.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Now Sea Run's getting their gear orf feeling a bit frisking,
- 12:35Speaker 1: Yeah yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Yeah no. So that was good. It was a lovely morning.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I have a mate that has a cafe and asked
- 12:42Speaker 1: him to put a table aside and we were just
- 12:43Speaker 1: going to have people come and go in the morning
- 12:45Speaker 1: whenever suited. And he had it all set up with
- 12:48Speaker 1: flowers and birthday hats and had the mimosas out and
- 12:53Speaker 1: got everyone's coffees and everyone's food, and I sat there for.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Three hours and it was amazing, and then went to
- 12:58Speaker 3: the ball.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Right, a very good day, got spoiled rotten and quite right,
- 13:06Speaker 1: quite right, Well, I should get spoiled on autely one
- 13:10Speaker 1: day a year. Though I was going to say no,
- 13:12Speaker 1: I was going to say, what about birthday week?
- 13:13Speaker 3: Is that a thing? Sure?
- 13:14Speaker 1: Because I'm trying to stretch it out you much as possible. Okay,
- 13:17Speaker 1: I won't go crazy and won't have a full festival
- 13:19Speaker 1: for a month or anything. But Kim Green so get
- 13:23Speaker 1: to the game. And she gave me a heap of
- 13:25Speaker 1: Korean beauty products. So these things are amazing.
- 13:29Speaker 3: You know. Have you seen the masks you put on.
- 13:31Speaker 1: You put them on there like a milky white and
- 13:32Speaker 1: then they dry clear, so you meant to leave them
- 13:34Speaker 1: on your face for like three or four hours. So
- 13:37Speaker 1: she said it's best to just sleep with it overnight,
- 13:40Speaker 1: although I couldn't sleep because you don't want to roll
- 13:42Speaker 1: over in half your masks to cut off on your pillow.
- 13:45Speaker 3: So I was just lying as still as possible.
- 13:48Speaker 6: But have a look worrying about all your regrets.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Yeah I do look twenty five, don't know. Yeah.
- 13:54Speaker 2: So I have also been learning to sleep on my
- 13:56Speaker 2: back more because this is something that I've started in
- 13:59Speaker 2: the last and this is another flight of fancy that
- 14:02Speaker 2: I've put very little research into. So do not take
- 14:04Speaker 2: medical advice from this woman. But I've started mouth taping
- 14:08Speaker 2: at night, and I've.
- 14:08Speaker 6: Bought these these very specific they're little kiss shape ones.
- 14:14Speaker 6: I put them over my mouth.
- 14:15Speaker 2: It's got a little gap in it so I can
- 14:16Speaker 2: breathe through my mouth if anything goes horrendously wrong. But
- 14:19Speaker 2: I'm trying to do the mouth taping for three months
- 14:22Speaker 2: to see have I been breathing through my mouth at night?
- 14:24Speaker 6: And you know, trying to train myself to breathe through
- 14:26Speaker 6: the nose?
- 14:27Speaker 3: Why me?
- 14:28Speaker 1: Why?
- 14:29Speaker 6: Woh God?
- 14:30Speaker 2: Really, I don't know. Why is a glass of wine
- 14:33Speaker 2: and Instagram? That's how I end up with these things
- 14:35Speaker 2: being delivered to the door.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Why can't you breathe through your mouth? Well?
- 14:39Speaker 6: I gather that it is much healthier to breathe through
- 14:41Speaker 6: your nose.
- 14:42Speaker 3: All this is the thing.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Yeah, All the little hairs and things in your nose
- 14:45Speaker 2: are designed to stop all the crap in the air
- 14:47Speaker 2: going into your lunk. So it is a much healthier
- 14:50Speaker 2: system if you are breathing in through your nose, whether
- 14:53Speaker 2: you're awake, or asleep or not.
- 14:54Speaker 6: But I don't know whether I suspect I slept.
- 14:56Speaker 3: I breathe a lot through.
- 14:57Speaker 6: My mouth at night.
- 14:58Speaker 2: So I thought, well, I'll do this three months and
- 15:00Speaker 2: see what See what difference there is. I haven't managed
- 15:03Speaker 2: to make it through a night yet with the mouth
- 15:05Speaker 2: taped for the whole thing.
- 15:07Speaker 3: At what point does it come off? And why do
- 15:09Speaker 3: you feel like you're gagging or something?
- 15:10Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 15:11Speaker 2: No, it's just I sort of wake up and I
- 15:12Speaker 2: kind of feel a bit uncomfortable. I want to go
- 15:14Speaker 2: back to sleep, So I take it off and go, Okay,
- 15:15Speaker 2: that's a couple of hours.
- 15:16Speaker 6: I'll see how I go.
- 15:17Speaker 3: But have you heard about this else?
- 15:20Speaker 4: Yes? So I went to see a physias.
- 15:22Speaker 5: So when I was playing The Dirty Girl Shooters towards
- 15:24Speaker 5: the end, when I was a bit sure of everybody
- 15:26Speaker 5: else would we go? I got, you see it cracked
- 15:28Speaker 5: in the jaw of it with elbows and I've got
- 15:31Speaker 5: like this funny fight now.
- 15:32Speaker 4: So I went to see a physiacas I was getting
- 15:34Speaker 4: headaches as it was about and way.
- 15:36Speaker 5: And she was like she was a jaw and like, yeah,
- 15:41Speaker 5: it was weird. But she said one of the things
- 15:43Speaker 5: that we all do is we breathe two months through
- 15:46Speaker 5: our mouth.
- 15:46Speaker 4: So she was getting me to tape up my mouth
- 15:49Speaker 4: at night.
- 15:49Speaker 5: And it's the funniest thing that I was going to
- 15:51Speaker 5: bed with like a little thing over my mouth, and
- 15:55Speaker 5: I was just found ashamed.
- 15:56Speaker 3: We can't do that to her in every day life.
- 15:59Speaker 2: I will say this is not my favorite, but this
- 16:02Speaker 2: is not Pete's favorite thing that I've ever brought to
- 16:04Speaker 2: the bed.
- 16:08Speaker 5: Much preferred you in your red undies, in your hul hoop.
- 16:12Speaker 5: So yeah, and anyway, it's not that it's not a
- 16:15Speaker 5: great precursor to romance, going to bed with your mouth
- 16:18Speaker 5: taped up and apparently it's supposed to be good for you,
- 16:20Speaker 5: but because it keeps your blood oxygen rich as well,
- 16:23Speaker 5: like there's something you take in more oxygen when you
- 16:26Speaker 5: breathe in and out of your nose and when anyway, whatever,
- 16:29Speaker 5: I did it for a couple of weeks and got
- 16:31Speaker 5: jack of it.
- 16:32Speaker 1: I was today years old when I learned all about this.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I'm going to go home tonight and.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Be aware of what I'm doing.
- 16:40Speaker 2: I'll take a photo of these ones because they are
- 16:42Speaker 2: They're a lovely little kiss shape that goes over the
- 16:44Speaker 2: mouth and they do have a tiny gap in them.
- 16:46Speaker 6: But our producer was telling me that there is a
- 16:49Speaker 6: brand on the.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Market called hostage tape, which I think is appalling.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Like, that's what I was. Look, that's exactly the image
- 16:57Speaker 3: that was in my head when you were talking.
- 16:58Speaker 6: Liz.
- 16:59Speaker 3: I'm like, my god, the kids had come in the
- 17:00Speaker 3: morning and think that somebody dropped you. It's happening.
- 17:05Speaker 6: Mommy and daddy have just been having some special times.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 17:12Speaker 4: Interesting.
- 17:15Speaker 2: So I note with interest that we are, we have
- 17:18Speaker 2: to date, glossed over the netball that happened on the weekend.
- 17:23Speaker 6: I feel like we should talk about that.
- 17:24Speaker 2: We should probably within that conversation talk about our relative
- 17:29Speaker 2: tipping competition scores in the valor dribblers tipping comp for
- 17:34Speaker 2: no reason other than we are a comprehensive netball discussion platform.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Would you just want to talk about it? Because clearly
- 17:41Speaker 3: you got your tips right?
- 17:42Speaker 6: How good? How good? Yeah?
- 17:45Speaker 2: Well, and Liz, so your this your strategy of tipping
- 17:48Speaker 2: the home games yielded zero points this week. Well, what
- 17:54Speaker 2: annoys the hell out of me is that we had
- 17:57Speaker 2: more people getting five points this week than any other score.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Car If you don't lodge tips, you get away teams,
- 18:05Speaker 2: and so this people who didn't lodge tips got five points.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Now I will tell you I did lodge tips. So
- 18:12Speaker 2: but yeah, so there's a lot of people who who
- 18:15Speaker 2: didn't lodge them, something like more than fifty people who
- 18:17Speaker 2: didn't even lodge a tip and then got.
- 18:20Speaker 6: No way, that's not fair, No way, that's not fair.
- 18:23Speaker 1: But how some of the games, though, I want to
- 18:25Speaker 1: pinpoint one thing that happened in the Swift's Lightning game.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Did you see Helen Houseby's Academy Award winner. Oh my god,
- 18:35Speaker 1: what a move. So Lightning had the ball and Tara
- 18:39Speaker 1: Hinchliff went to run down court. How'sby fully shoulder charged her.
- 18:44Speaker 1: I just jumped in front, shoulder charged her, and then
- 18:49Speaker 1: Helen fell down, contacted and she pulled the penalty. So
- 18:54Speaker 1: the Swifts ended up with the ball. And then there's
- 18:57Speaker 1: vision of her after that moment, running into the circle
- 19:01Speaker 1: with the biggest smile on her face, like, yes, I
- 19:04Speaker 1: just got away with that.
- 19:05Speaker 3: It was so crazy.
- 19:06Speaker 2: I know what my post netball career is going to
- 19:09Speaker 2: be interesting.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Oh my goodness, it was unbelievable.
- 19:13Speaker 5: Yeah, and then you just said that it was you said,
- 19:15Speaker 5: it was put online and the little cliff of it,
- 19:18Speaker 5: and Helen was the first one to comment. I think
- 19:20Speaker 5: she said, yeah, poor form. I couldn't believe I've got
- 19:22Speaker 5: the penalty either.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Look in her defense, there was a lot of that
- 19:28Speaker 2: going on in every game I watched on the weekend.
- 19:31Speaker 2: There was there was a lot of a lot of
- 19:34Speaker 2: good acting. Yeah, it was exciting. Thought this round of network.
- 19:37Speaker 1: How's about the swift say, because that was the last
- 19:39Speaker 1: win that they had to get to get a clean
- 19:41Speaker 1: sweep in the first half of the season, and to me,
- 19:43Speaker 1: that was their biggest test as well, to see where
- 19:45Speaker 1: they were sitting. I'm actually surprised it end up being
- 19:49Speaker 1: an eight goal margin, lightning twenty three turnovers though they
- 19:52Speaker 1: were just a bit costly in that department. That's where
- 19:55Speaker 1: it got away from them. But they didn't start Courtney
- 19:57Speaker 1: Bruce or Kara Conan. And I know Batchel Door it
- 20:00Speaker 1: was amazing last week, but would you start her over
- 20:04Speaker 1: a Carra Kanon which makes me think Conan's potential injury
- 20:07Speaker 1: and that whole Moon thing boot gate, yeah is still
- 20:11Speaker 1: a thing. But Courtney Brewers forty three minutes she ended
- 20:14Speaker 1: up coming on the court or she was on for
- 20:15Speaker 1: forty three minutes, not a single game, no rebounds, one deflection.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Oh wow, so very very quiet game from her. I
- 20:23Speaker 1: feel like if she was in the action a little
- 20:25Speaker 1: bit more, that result may have been different.
- 20:28Speaker 4: I thought ash Irvan was good though.
- 20:29Speaker 5: I thought she started to get under Grace and wiki
- 20:32Speaker 5: skin a little bit towards the end. I just so
- 20:34Speaker 5: too this contest, Like just she's probably the only player
- 20:38Speaker 5: in the league who has the size to get up
- 20:41Speaker 5: there and to put hands where the ball might be right.
- 20:43Speaker 4: So I thought she did a good job towards the
- 20:46Speaker 4: end of the game.
- 20:46Speaker 5: And I reckon like playing against GRACEWORKI is a bit
- 20:49Speaker 5: like playing against Sarah and fandit you know, no matter
- 20:52Speaker 5: how good you are, you going to get your butt
- 20:53Speaker 5: kicked for fifty fifty five minutes of the game. But
- 20:57Speaker 5: you've got to be in there contesting so that maybe
- 20:59Speaker 5: in the last five minutes you get a rebound or
- 21:02Speaker 5: a couple of drops.
- 21:03Speaker 4: And that's what happened at the end, so.
- 21:06Speaker 5: I thought, And I mean, obviously, you know, Courtney came
- 21:11Speaker 5: back and played a bit of goalkeeper, and they just
- 21:15Speaker 5: the rotation and eventually ash Evn I thought just they
- 21:19Speaker 5: started to see some sort of return on that investment.
- 21:22Speaker 5: But it's a hard, hard way to play, like you
- 21:25Speaker 5: just got to graft it out for It was.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Very similar in Sydney too though, lising the Giants of
- 21:31Speaker 1: the Fever game because Aaron O'Brien was on foul and
- 21:33Speaker 1: themmud you're just like, oh my god, these poor kids
- 21:37Speaker 1: up against you know, the best in the business and
- 21:39Speaker 1: how they're going to do it. But she got some
- 21:40Speaker 1: ball back and it was the same way. It was
- 21:42Speaker 1: just being persistent, being in the right place at the
- 21:45Speaker 1: right time, going over your head nine times out of ten.
- 21:48Speaker 1: She did start to win some back at the end,
- 21:50Speaker 1: which was unreal.
- 21:50Speaker 5: See, and as long as you're up in the air
- 21:52Speaker 5: and you've got your hands up there, eventually it'll for
- 21:55Speaker 5: your way. But like it's it's just like that's mental
- 21:59Speaker 5: strength to be able to do that for the full
- 22:01Speaker 5: sixty minutes and not drop your head, not drop your bundle.
- 22:04Speaker 6: Absolutely, we've only won that by nine though.
- 22:07Speaker 1: If you think about a red hot form team sitting
- 22:10Speaker 1: equal second on the ladder versus last, and Giant's only
- 22:14Speaker 1: down by eight, it sorry down by five at three
- 22:16Speaker 1: quarter times.
- 22:17Speaker 6: And they in it did equal it at one stage.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I expected that to be a vastly different
- 22:23Speaker 2: game to what it was, and that's so exciting. They
- 22:26Speaker 2: were on fire with the supershots, though they ended up
- 22:29Speaker 2: with ten from fifteen, throwing them up from everywhere.
- 22:33Speaker 3: That's how they stay in the game.
- 22:34Speaker 1: So I reckon a lot of teams aren't using it
- 22:37Speaker 1: as much, but certainly they are, and leather Barrow just
- 22:39Speaker 1: continues to put them up and drain them. She's been
- 22:42Speaker 1: great for them. I think at goal shooter with a
- 22:43Speaker 1: bit more time there.
- 22:44Speaker 6: This is interesting.
- 22:45Speaker 2: This the supershot now has been introduced in South Africa.
- 22:49Speaker 4: And in New Zealand.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I think, hasn't it I think it was you did
- 22:51Speaker 2: you put it on Instagram on the weekend or during
- 22:53Speaker 2: the week that.
- 22:54Speaker 6: I like what New Zealand's doing too.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Whether they made it, they've made it a narrower band
- 22:59Speaker 2: to get the two points. You're further away and it's
- 23:01Speaker 2: hard because it's half the circle in our game, isn't it.
- 23:05Speaker 2: And it's like, well, I mean, I can't shoot a goal,
- 23:08Speaker 2: but it's like, if you are a professional goal shooter,
- 23:11Speaker 2: that's actually not that far away, not.
- 23:13Speaker 6: At all, not at all.
- 23:14Speaker 3: No, I like their distance. I think we should look
- 23:16Speaker 3: to it.
- 23:17Speaker 2: I want to talk more about the Giants game, and
- 23:19Speaker 2: we obviously had two other cracking games during the week,
- 23:22Speaker 2: but let's just have a quick break. I will say, people,
- 23:28Speaker 2: if you want these games to be great, we've got
- 23:30Speaker 2: to get along to them. I cannot go to the
- 23:32Speaker 2: Swift's game on Saturday night, which is a whole other
- 23:34Speaker 2: thing that I'm going to talk about later, but I'm
- 23:36Speaker 2: going to go to the Giants game and I'd like
- 23:38Speaker 2: to see more people out supporting the Giants. Please come on, Sydney,
- 23:41Speaker 2: largest city in Australia. Well, apparently technically Melbourne is now
- 23:44Speaker 2: because they've included somewhere on the outskirts and said that's
- 23:48Speaker 2: now Melbourne. But anyway, whatever, Sydney, there's enough of us
- 23:51Speaker 2: we need to be getting out to the Swifts games
- 23:53Speaker 2: and the Giants games.
- 23:54Speaker 6: Support the whole sport.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Tell us, now, what's happening Saturday night?
- 23:57Speaker 6: This is an outrage.
- 23:58Speaker 2: I'm so excited, So you know, you know, I'm a
- 24:00Speaker 2: Swifts season ticket holder.
- 24:02Speaker 6: Love going.
- 24:04Speaker 2: My daughter has a dance competition at six forty five
- 24:07Speaker 2: pm on Saturday.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Night, probably nowhere near Olympic Park.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Nowhere near Olympic Park, there's only and so it will
- 24:15Speaker 2: take up. I think she'll be on from six forty
- 24:18Speaker 2: five to six forty eight. But it means that we
- 24:22Speaker 2: can't get to the game.
- 24:24Speaker 6: Who does this?
- 24:25Speaker 2: It's like it's children's hip hop? Like, really, Saturday night
- 24:29Speaker 2: is okay for the whole day Saturday, the whole day Sunday,
- 24:32Speaker 2: no problem, but please can you leave us our Friday
- 24:35Speaker 2: and our Saturday nights without without the children's sport or
- 24:39Speaker 2: children's activities thing.
- 24:40Speaker 3: So, but you're gonna come on Sunday, which is done? Yeah? Good,
- 24:43Speaker 3: that's great because that's a good game too. I can't
- 24:45Speaker 3: tell you what it is right now, but ah yeah,
- 24:50Speaker 3: got to be great.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Saturday, though, is Swift's doing Heritage Round, which is always awesome.
- 24:56Speaker 1: So all the ex players get invited and there's a
- 24:58Speaker 1: function beforehand, get to sit together and then there's drinks afterwards.
- 25:02Speaker 3: You can't come, can you?
- 25:03Speaker 1: No?
- 25:04Speaker 4: I'm sure you'll have a good time on my behalf.
- 25:06Speaker 6: Are you at the hip hop competition?
- 25:08Speaker 4: Actually I'm making appearance. You've got me, damn it. How
- 25:11Speaker 4: did you know.
- 25:13Speaker 6: It's going to be the wind again? Oh my god?
- 25:17Speaker 5: Many hip hop competition. I don't think there's there. I
- 25:20Speaker 5: can't think anything worse. It's like a horror movie break dancing.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Maybe if you were like a lyrical dance competition. So
- 25:28Speaker 2: that's the one where they have the floaty white nineties
- 25:30Speaker 2: on and there's a lot of ninety basically a floaty
- 25:34Speaker 2: white niety and bare feet and there's a lot of emotion.
- 25:37Speaker 6: Maybe that one would be worse for you.
- 25:40Speaker 2: That's hoop Up's all about strength and power in the move.
- 25:43Speaker 2: So so I think you would enjoy that more.
- 25:46Speaker 4: You know, there's still level of coordination required, and.
- 25:50Speaker 6: So we'll put you down as a no.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Exactly why she said no to Dancing with the Stars?
- 25:55Speaker 1: How many times?
- 25:55Speaker 4: Now, many many, many times.
- 25:58Speaker 5: There's not enough wine in the Adelaide Hills to make
- 26:00Speaker 5: me go and dancing with the stars.
- 26:02Speaker 3: Nor is there a tall enough partner.
- 26:04Speaker 6: Every week?
- 26:05Speaker 2: You could do the Madison the Nutbush Dance, which is
- 26:09Speaker 2: the netball dance vicial dads of netball internationally.
- 26:14Speaker 4: No, I don't, I have my reality TV. I'm done
- 26:17Speaker 4: one and okay, no.
- 26:19Speaker 3: I'd nut bush it every day of the week.
- 26:21Speaker 6: So yes, So Giants Vixens, I think will be an
- 26:23Speaker 6: interesting match. I thought the Vixens.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Looked better yesterday, much better. They didn't look like they
- 26:28Speaker 2: were going to lose it at any stage, but they
- 26:30Speaker 2: have certainly not you know, the team they were late
- 26:33Speaker 2: last year.
- 26:34Speaker 6: So and I thought.
- 26:36Speaker 2: The Giants showed some real flashes of potential and hopefully
- 26:40Speaker 2: at home next week where I will be and lots
- 26:43Speaker 2: of dribblers should also be. I will wear my orange shirt,
- 26:46Speaker 2: I will do it.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Do it? Why not the stupid hat?
- 26:50Speaker 6: Well, I don't think too. I think you maybe you
- 26:53Speaker 6: do need to do you?
- 26:54Speaker 1: Yeah, because the crowd so big at the Giants.
- 27:00Speaker 3: On the Giants, So can I just apologize?
- 27:02Speaker 1: There was two Giants fans that were trying to get
- 27:04Speaker 1: my attention at the end of the game, and I
- 27:07Speaker 1: did not have an opportunity. So if they're dribblers, apologies
- 27:10Speaker 1: and I will see you next weekend and I will
- 27:12Speaker 1: definitely come over and say hello.
- 27:13Speaker 6: Sorry about that, so I would say again.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Having not played goalkeeper since I was eight years old,
- 27:20Speaker 2: it was really interesting. I think Mary Cholock looked rattled yesterday,
- 27:24Speaker 2: and I wondered whether this is something about our comp
- 27:26Speaker 2: if you are not you know, because this is the
- 27:28Speaker 2: best netble competition in the world, and so the level
- 27:31Speaker 2: of skill that you're getting from the gks and the
- 27:35Speaker 2: Gold offenses might actually be higher than what Mary Cholock
- 27:39Speaker 2: and Grace Wecki are used to in their own domestic competition.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Because she did look a little bit rattled and annoyed it. Yeah,
- 27:44Speaker 2: I thought Mary Cholock looked rattled in the beginning of
- 27:46Speaker 2: that game.
- 27:46Speaker 1: And to be fair, that's what most of the players
- 27:48Speaker 1: that come into the comp do look like. Look, if
- 27:50Speaker 1: you think about Shimona Jock when she first appeared on
- 27:52Speaker 1: the scene with the Adelaide Thunderbirds, dropped the ball nearly
- 27:56Speaker 1: every time it came nearer, really kind of suss on
- 27:59Speaker 1: the hold. Now an incredible athlete, one of the strongest
- 28:03Speaker 1: shooters and dominating this season. So it does take time
- 28:06Speaker 1: and she will get better. I mean, she's gone the
- 28:08Speaker 1: high she's the tallest one in the league by far,
- 28:10Speaker 1: so it'll come. It just is probably not what they
- 28:13Speaker 1: are expecting from her in the first season, I think.
- 28:16Speaker 2: And I'm just about to contradict myself because clearly my
- 28:19Speaker 2: point is stupid. When you look at the likes of
- 28:21Speaker 2: Latania Wilson and Shamira Stirling Humphrey and go, well, clearly
- 28:24Speaker 2: you know that that is a level a standard of
- 28:27Speaker 2: defense that has not come from this domestic comp But
- 28:30Speaker 2: he's in this domestic comp.
- 28:31Speaker 1: See, the humans can't play well on those two. Let's
- 28:33Speaker 1: talk about Wilson though. On the weekend of the MAVs
- 28:35Speaker 1: Tea Birds game. So Ta Bird's won by seven, which
- 28:37Speaker 1: I thought was a really solid win for them up
- 28:39Speaker 1: against the MAVs. But Wilson eleven games the team only
- 28:44Speaker 1: had fifteen. Yeah, she'd eleven of them. She's amazing. Hell,
- 28:48Speaker 1: she's like Shamira's left. She's like, yes, small ball for me.
- 28:51Speaker 5: Yeah, that's so true though, Like I yeah, like you
- 28:55Speaker 5: do wonder with Shamira there, Everyone's like, oh, Shmia would
- 28:58Speaker 5: just get the ball and we don't have to be
- 29:01Speaker 5: so careful with it. But her not being there makes
- 29:03Speaker 5: everyone else step up, doesn't it.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, and gives everyone a bit of space to
- 29:08Speaker 2: show what they can do too. I think it's I
- 29:10Speaker 2: think Latania Wilson's seen her opportunity and she is going
- 29:13Speaker 2: after it.
- 29:13Speaker 3: I love it.
- 29:14Speaker 6: It's so good to watch.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Yeah, what a free Anyway, excited for this weekend? Hey,
- 29:17Speaker 1: so you know how I missed the show last week
- 29:20Speaker 1: just on that. Thank you, Gordy. I know you listen
- 29:22Speaker 1: to no Dribble, But how lucky are we to have
- 29:24Speaker 1: a Sue Gordian step in? And I really found some
- 29:27Speaker 1: of the conversation last week around the replacement players and stuff.
- 29:30Speaker 1: People don't know that that was really interesting. So we're
- 29:33Speaker 1: very lucky to have her. But I was flying a
- 29:36Speaker 1: bit last week, so I had six flights in five days.
- 29:39Speaker 6: And anyone put their penis on your shoulder.
- 29:41Speaker 1: No, I actually made the mistake. I didn't even say
- 29:44Speaker 1: it out loud, but I thought it just before my
- 29:47Speaker 1: last flight. How lucky I had been in the first
- 29:50Speaker 1: five in that they were all on time. I had
- 29:53Speaker 1: spare seats next to me every time. They were beautiful,
- 29:57Speaker 1: And I thought it. And I was flying home from Melbourne.
- 30:00Speaker 1: It was eight thirty at nights. Everyone on that plane
- 30:03Speaker 1: just wants to get home, right, they're just tidings also,
- 30:05Speaker 1: they want to get home. It was a completely chopper's flight.
- 30:08Speaker 1: We taxi out, ready to take off. Next thing, there's
- 30:13Speaker 1: a bit of commotion behind us. Two rows behind me,
- 30:16Speaker 1: a man had vomited all over himself.
- 30:19Speaker 6: On a full flight.
- 30:20Speaker 1: So can you imagine the person sitting next to him anyway,
- 30:23Speaker 1: So obviously they the staff cabin crewe go and you know,
- 30:27Speaker 1: talk to the captain about what the plan is, and
- 30:30Speaker 1: they're all down there talking to him just to I guess,
- 30:32Speaker 1: to work out if he was seek or for he's drunk,
- 30:33Speaker 1: or what the story was. Anyway, turns out he wasn't well,
- 30:36Speaker 1: so they sat. We sat on the tarmat for about
- 30:38Speaker 1: forty minutes while they tuned and frowed and do we
- 30:40Speaker 1: just clean this up?
- 30:41Speaker 3: Or what do we do?
- 30:42Speaker 1: Turn the plane around, took him back to the gate,
- 30:45Speaker 1: but I was like maybe five rows from the back.
- 30:48Speaker 1: This guy was further behind me, so he's close to
- 30:50Speaker 1: the toilets. Had to get up and walk through the
- 30:53Speaker 1: whole plane to get off, with everyone giving him death stairs.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Like where doesn't want to go home? You're a game,
- 31:00Speaker 3: but we just want to go home and then clean
- 31:03Speaker 3: up this warmit. So whilst I've seen a few things
- 31:07Speaker 3: in my flight, that was the first.
- 31:08Speaker 6: Yeah, oh, poor bugger, I.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Know the walk of shame to everyone just giving you
- 31:14Speaker 1: absolute death stairs.
- 31:18Speaker 3: You've held us up. We want to get home, poor
- 31:21Speaker 3: bugger and stunt clot vomit.
- 31:23Speaker 6: But not as much travel for you this week. I'm
- 31:25Speaker 6: home gay.
- 31:26Speaker 3: Yeah for two games?
- 31:27Speaker 4: What can I do?
- 31:30Speaker 1: A quick shout out please to Valor though, our fabulous
- 31:33Speaker 1: sponsors of the Valor Dribblers Tipping comp because they have
- 31:36Speaker 1: just been announced as official apparel partners for the Australian
- 31:39Speaker 1: Commonwealth Games.
- 31:41Speaker 6: Fantastic?
- 31:41Speaker 3: Isn't that great for twenty twenty six?
- 31:44Speaker 4: Does that mean we all go the Commonwealth Games? Is
- 31:47Speaker 4: that what that means? Dribble games? Because you know it's swindle.
- 31:51Speaker 6: That that's my plan.
- 31:52Speaker 3: I don't know how good was getting your Calm Games
- 31:54Speaker 3: uniform though?
- 31:55Speaker 4: Is so good?
- 31:56Speaker 3: It was the best because there's so much gear.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Just tab your heart in your mouth a little bit though,
- 32:02Speaker 2: because there have been some fashioned disasters for team where
- 32:05Speaker 2: in decades past, haven't there? So at least val Valor's
- 32:09Speaker 2: got nice gears.
- 32:10Speaker 6: Do a good job.
- 32:11Speaker 4: Well it goes.
- 32:12Speaker 5: The first time, the first time netball was at the
- 32:14Speaker 5: Coveringwealth Games was in nineteen ninety eight, and I think
- 32:17Speaker 5: the uniform provider might have been added ass or whoever
- 32:20Speaker 5: it was. They had never done a netball uniform before,
- 32:24Speaker 5: so we got our netball uniforms and put them on
- 32:27Speaker 5: and they the bodies were all way too short, but
- 32:30Speaker 5: even worse, the skirts were shorter than the pants.
- 32:36Speaker 4: Washed so it was all.
- 32:38Speaker 3: You had your ass hanging out anyway, and not.
- 32:40Speaker 4: Just your back ass, your front ass too right.
- 32:43Speaker 1: The old front as I'm sorry, I can't pass you
- 32:50Speaker 1: the ball all conceidure camel doot.
- 32:53Speaker 3: It's very distracting.
- 32:55Speaker 2: It's a little known defensive strategy of the Australian Diamonds.
- 32:59Speaker 4: And it wasn't just a Amato Catherine, it was a
- 33:01Speaker 4: whole leg.
- 33:02Speaker 5: It was like everything was on display like it was
- 33:04Speaker 5: so but we got them know, we were like, we.
- 33:09Speaker 4: Didn't know, and it all came came.
- 33:12Speaker 5: A bit late, so there was this mad scram or anything. Anyway,
- 33:16Speaker 5: We're playing in quite a little bit. And eventually I
- 33:18Speaker 5: think they got them custom made in Malaysia because there
- 33:22Speaker 5: were tailors there who could do it. But there was
- 33:24Speaker 5: this horrible moment where we all put the dresses because
- 33:26Speaker 5: we were so excited and all the other gear was great,
- 33:28Speaker 5: like the tracksuits and the like, everything was fantastic, and
- 33:32Speaker 5: then this one moment where we just all felt sick
- 33:35Speaker 5: and we thought, our first ever Commonwealth Games, is this
- 33:37Speaker 5: what we're.
- 33:38Speaker 4: Going to.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Them what they do.
- 33:42Speaker 4: They all got them custom made.
- 33:43Speaker 5: So they found Taylor's i think in the in Kuala Lumpa,
- 33:47Speaker 5: who actually made us new dresses. So when you like
- 33:52Speaker 5: games footage, those dresses were like they turned up the
- 33:55Speaker 5: day before.
- 33:56Speaker 4: It was so stressful.
- 33:58Speaker 3: Oh my god, they were nice dress. I do remember that.
- 34:01Speaker 5: Yeah, that were lovely, but they just yeah, it was
- 34:03Speaker 5: just that horrible moment of oh my god, this is
- 34:07Speaker 5: really not very good at all.
- 34:09Speaker 4: That's wrong with it.
- 34:11Speaker 6: So ninety eight was Koala Lumpa.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Then two thousand and two Manchester and how was the
- 34:16Speaker 2: outfit for that?
- 34:19Speaker 4: Yeah, they were good Manchester.
- 34:20Speaker 5: That Commonwealth Games was the one where Coxy was just
- 34:24Speaker 5: a shooting robot and just kept was just the ice
- 34:27Speaker 5: queen and shot a golf with the heels flapping over
- 34:30Speaker 5: the edge of the circle to take us into extra time.
- 34:32Speaker 4: You're amazing in that game, Catherine.
- 34:33Speaker 3: But I did also have my head in a toilet
- 34:35Speaker 3: and my butt on a toilet seat for about three
- 34:38Speaker 3: days in the lead up. Not well at all.
- 34:41Speaker 2: I assume we're talking gastro not big devastation, sadly not
- 34:46Speaker 2: Darrenberg Decas station.
- 34:47Speaker 1: They don't have that at the Commonwealth Games unfortunate unfortunately
- 34:51Speaker 1: in the mess hall. No, that was not good. But yeah,
- 34:55Speaker 1: those uniforms are good. All of them are so good though,
- 34:57Speaker 1: and they give you so much gear. But the best
- 34:58Speaker 1: thing is towards the end they open up kind of
- 35:03Speaker 1: a shop, don't they, with all the uniform so you
- 35:05Speaker 1: can go and buy all this extra stuff if.
- 35:07Speaker 3: You wanted to give to your family or whatever else.
- 35:10Speaker 1: And everyone goes in there and goes crazy, but then
- 35:12Speaker 1: you never wear it.
- 35:13Speaker 3: I've got bags.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Full of Commonwealth Games uniforms and all this extra stuff I.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Wore, and you're like, well, I don't want to be
- 35:18Speaker 3: a numpty rocket around with my COMM Game stuff on it.
- 35:22Speaker 2: It sounding to me like an outfit for our grand
- 35:25Speaker 2: Finally function in Melbourne, not in Sydney.
- 35:28Speaker 6: In Melbourne, it does, doesn't I'm excited about that. Two
- 35:31Speaker 6: scrunches in your head.
- 35:32Speaker 5: I wear mine other farm But can I tell you
- 35:34Speaker 5: the worst thing about the comm Walth Games uniform was
- 35:37Speaker 5: when I missed two thousand and six. The uniform you
- 35:41Speaker 5: guys got for two thousand and six because I'd had
- 35:43Speaker 5: my knee indury was by far and away the best
- 35:46Speaker 5: uniform that you got, and so then for the next
- 35:49Speaker 5: eighteen months while I was still playing, every time one
- 35:52Speaker 5: of you pulled something out and I'd say, oh.
- 35:55Speaker 4: That's nice, and you go yeah, yeah, we got it
- 35:57Speaker 4: last year, remember you know. And that was the nicest
- 36:01Speaker 4: uniform you got we had for the Games.
- 36:04Speaker 3: That was the Vlure. It was like the lurid track suit.
- 36:07Speaker 1: It was unreal, and they had on the lining inside
- 36:10Speaker 1: they had every athlete surname.
- 36:12Speaker 3: That had ever won a gold medal before. It was great.
- 36:15Speaker 1: So we were all in there inside the inside the
- 36:17Speaker 1: track sit It was unreal.
- 36:18Speaker 3: That was actually really beautiful, wasn't it.
- 36:20Speaker 6: I didn't have juicy ridden across your.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Bum though, No, fortunately it did not. But the thing
- 36:26Speaker 1: is with that one great uniforms ship medals, all the
- 36:29Speaker 1: medals broke. They had a really flimsy thing between the
- 36:33Speaker 1: chain and the actual medallion part and on the drink
- 36:36Speaker 1: that night celebrating a lot of people lost the actual
- 36:39Speaker 1: medal really lost.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Yes, well you know again like it was around my neck.
- 36:45Speaker 6: Yeah. Where was two thousand and six Melbourne?
- 36:48Speaker 4: Melbourne? Remember when they said they would yes.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Happier, simpler times. I hope they don't cancel the Grand
- 36:58Speaker 2: Final on us.
- 36:59Speaker 1: No, Well, we're going regardless that we've got a thing
- 37:02Speaker 1: to get to, an event to.
- 37:03Speaker 6: Have that was exciting.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Last week the tickets went on sale, the packages went
- 37:07Speaker 2: on sale for the Grand Final. I think a lot
- 37:10Speaker 2: of dribblers have gotten around that. It's exciting. I'm going
- 37:14Speaker 2: to one of the events.
- 37:15Speaker 3: Our event.
- 37:16Speaker 6: I'm going to our event. Yeah, but I'm also going
- 37:18Speaker 6: to one of the other things before the Grand Have.
- 37:21Speaker 3: You got your Grand Final ticket?
- 37:22Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 37:22Speaker 2: I bought packages because well, I can't afford to hope
- 37:26Speaker 2: that I can get invited to somebody.
- 37:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:29Speaker 6: So yeah, no, So we're heading down.
- 37:31Speaker 3: So do you get the You're doing the Grand Final
- 37:33Speaker 3: lunch and all of that.
- 37:34Speaker 6: I'm doing the two hour job before. It's fun.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm planning to be tired on the day off
- 37:40Speaker 2: the Grand Final and then to sleep in.
- 37:42Speaker 3: Great plan. Yeah, Lizellas, you'll be flat chat. Won't you
- 37:45Speaker 3: be down there doing.
- 37:45Speaker 6: All sorts of things, pressing the flesh.
- 37:47Speaker 4: That's what I do.
- 37:48Speaker 6: Hey, Liz, I thought we haven't we need to.
- 37:51Speaker 2: So we had a great chat with Annika Wells, the
- 37:54Speaker 2: honorable Anika Wells, who was the Ministers for Sport in
- 37:57Speaker 2: the last government and he's the Minister for Sport again.
- 38:00Speaker 2: I reckon that portable netball court idea that I know
- 38:04Speaker 2: it was an opposition idea, but that idea that they
- 38:07Speaker 2: were going to have for Queens and that's a really
- 38:09Speaker 2: good idea. And I think a good idea doesn't matter
- 38:11Speaker 2: who has it, they should just do it. I think
- 38:14Speaker 2: we should call anaker and say, hey, here's a good
- 38:16Speaker 2: idea someone else had that we think is a great
- 38:18Speaker 2: one for you to do for netball and Queensy.
- 38:20Speaker 4: Sure, I'll put on my list.
- 38:23Speaker 6: Yeah, thank you.
- 38:24Speaker 2: That's what she said to me when I asked her
- 38:25Speaker 2: for some netball courts down at Meadow Banks. She said,
- 38:28Speaker 2: yeh Ill put it on my list. There's a lot
- 38:29Speaker 2: of people who put stuff on.
- 38:30Speaker 6: Their list for me.
- 38:31Speaker 3: I appreciate it.
- 38:32Speaker 6: Thank you very much. So listen.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Quick update on the Valor Dribblers tipping comp again, just
- 38:37Speaker 2: to repeat, some of us got five points on the weekend.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Just gone, Catherine, you got two points. That was interesting
- 38:44Speaker 2: because the tips that you did for the video were
- 38:46Speaker 2: clearly not the.
- 38:46Speaker 6: Tips that you did for Can you did you lodge them?
- 38:50Speaker 1: Well?
- 38:50Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 38:51Speaker 6: It looks to me like you got too from the
- 38:54Speaker 6: back end.
- 38:54Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Gordy also got to Liz got zero, but we all
- 38:58Speaker 2: know that that is part of her Switzerland strategy. So
- 39:03Speaker 2: we have one clear leader at the top of the board.
- 39:05Speaker 2: At the moment, I prefer Quidditch.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Has pulled away.
- 39:08Speaker 2: They are on thirty points, followed by Vascinator and Thunderballs
- 39:12Speaker 2: who are on twenty eight points each. There are five
- 39:15Speaker 2: people on twenty seven. Kath, you are on twenty five
- 39:19Speaker 2: points that have slipped from fourth to twenty eighth.
- 39:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 39:23Speaker 3: I like to make it a challenge. Yeah, can we
- 39:25Speaker 3: get I.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Prefer Quidditch's system. They want to send us a little
- 39:30Speaker 1: message just with how they're going about, because it's been
- 39:32Speaker 1: consistent the whole way.
- 39:34Speaker 6: Thrue. If I was I prefer Quidditch, I wouldn't be
- 39:36Speaker 6: telling you anything.
- 39:38Speaker 3: I can't get that at all, but maybe we can
- 39:39Speaker 3: get them a week moment.
- 39:41Speaker 2: And Jane Kay is our winner of this week's Vala
- 39:44Speaker 2: voucher for being the Tipper of the week. Jane k
- 39:47Speaker 2: again sitting in ninety second position, so highly unlikely to
- 39:50Speaker 2: win the whole comp but has still picked up a
- 39:52Speaker 2: fifty dollar voucher from Valor. In the Valor Dribbler's tipping comp.
- 39:56Speaker 2: So look, I thought it was fun. I'll do I'll
- 39:58Speaker 2: get five again this week. I think I'll try that again.
- 40:01Speaker 2: That seems like a good strategy for me to get
- 40:03Speaker 2: better scores and move up the ladder. In the Sexy
- 40:07Speaker 2: tipping comp the Susan, Elizabeth, Catherines, Carolyn's, the Catherines. Forty
- 40:12Speaker 2: of the top ten tippers are Catherines.
- 40:15Speaker 3: Oh yeah, boy.
- 40:16Speaker 2: Thirty percent are Carolyn's, twenty percent are Susan's, and ten
- 40:20Speaker 2: percent are Elizabeth's. So that is an interesting study that
- 40:23Speaker 2: we are conducting across the week there. So yeah, the
- 40:26Speaker 2: Carolyns are coming home strong, and that is actually reflecting
- 40:30Speaker 2: our positions on the ladder at the moment. So your first,
- 40:34Speaker 2: I'm second, Gordy is third, and Miss Liz Ellis is
- 40:39Speaker 2: sitting in fourth position out of the.
- 40:41Speaker 6: Four of us at the moment.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Very good.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Now, on the Instagram page, the notable Instagram page, it
- 40:47Speaker 1: says we have two messages. I can't get them for
- 40:50Speaker 1: some reason, it's not letting me get them. So thanks
- 40:54Speaker 1: guys for sending your messages through. Can you do it again?
- 40:56Speaker 6: Yeah? Okay, So we don't have a win beneath our wing.
- 41:00Speaker 2: This, well, I've got a nomination, and I think there's
- 41:04Speaker 2: a lot of dribblers who are going to support me
- 41:06Speaker 2: in this. I'd like to nominate Sue Gordion as the
- 41:09Speaker 2: wind beneath our wings. Certainly for the three of us.
- 41:11Speaker 2: She steps in and saves our bacon when we when
- 41:15Speaker 2: we need someone and man, the expertise and the joy
- 41:17Speaker 2: she brings to this conversation is thrif. I know we've
- 41:20Speaker 2: given her some Dubai chocolate, but I feel like she
- 41:22Speaker 2: should have a scrunchy too.
- 41:23Speaker 3: Why not?
- 41:24Speaker 1: Her hair length is perfect for a scrunchings for two suchies.
- 41:28Speaker 6: Okay, way, but yes, Gordon, you're the wind beneath our Wie.
- 41:30Speaker 5: And just a little shout out to Maddie Proud who
- 41:33Speaker 5: had her doing why Yes, Yeah, very exciting, Lily, Lily, Lily,
- 41:39Speaker 5: So how gratulations, Maddie, Very exciting.
- 41:43Speaker 3: So so exciting.
- 41:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Have we talked about Gretel Bewtter, the little sneaky of
- 41:51Speaker 1: her social media?
- 41:53Speaker 3: Coming back to so, I've got everything.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Cross for this to happen now, and you made a
- 41:57Speaker 2: bold call on pivot with this. You have said you
- 42:00Speaker 2: think she will be back this season. No, that's me
- 42:02Speaker 2: with just hoping. But there's no reason she can't be
- 42:04Speaker 2: back this season. Where would she go, Well, she can
- 42:06Speaker 2: go wherever there's a spot or an injury. So if
- 42:08Speaker 2: you look at Lightning, she's based in Queensland. If you
- 42:11Speaker 2: look at Lightning Cara Conen, she could have a week
- 42:14Speaker 2: off for two weeks off. Who knows with this moon
- 42:16Speaker 2: boot if that turns into something.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Queensland Firebirds tip a Dwan has stepped away from the
- 42:20Speaker 1: game to work on rehab.
- 42:21Speaker 3: There's a spot there. They can pick up any player.
- 42:24Speaker 1: And this has been interesting because people have come at
- 42:26Speaker 1: me on social media about this. The Queensland Firebads do
- 42:30Speaker 1: not have to use or whoever, do not have to
- 42:33Speaker 1: use training partners to replace someone. They can pick whoever
- 42:37Speaker 1: they want to replace an injured player to come into
- 42:42Speaker 1: the mix. So and there's all rules around it, of course,
- 42:46Speaker 1: in terms of you know, how much they get paid
- 42:48Speaker 1: and how long they've got to stay there or can
- 42:49Speaker 1: stay there and all that sort of stuff. But it
- 42:51Speaker 1: is possible. And I said that because I really want
- 42:54Speaker 1: it to happen. I'm manifesting.
- 42:56Speaker 6: So she's just had her third bird child, Yes, and
- 43:00Speaker 6: that child is six months plus or something.
- 43:03Speaker 3: I think it's only about four months. But she's back training.
- 43:05Speaker 1: She put it on her socials and Stacy Marinkovich when
- 43:09Speaker 1: asked about it and asked about if she would be
- 43:11Speaker 1: in the Diamonds squad anytime soon, she said it's not
- 43:14Speaker 1: out of the question.
- 43:15Speaker 6: Out of the question. She did not say no. Now,
- 43:18Speaker 6: that to me is a yes. That is amazing, isn't it.
- 43:20Speaker 6: It's close to her, yes, isn't it Like it's sort
- 43:22Speaker 6: of it's yeah, that's very interesting. And six months after
- 43:26Speaker 6: she's had a baby. My god, I was just still
- 43:29Speaker 6: slopping around in a tracksuit. If I had a shower in.
- 43:31Speaker 2: A day when my babies were six months old, I
- 43:33Speaker 2: thought I am winning at life.
- 43:35Speaker 1: But the pool of a home World Cup, you know, like,
- 43:39Speaker 1: I'm not surprised to see her back. If she's not
- 43:41Speaker 1: feeling like she's done, what a great way to come back?
- 43:44Speaker 1: Can I also quickly just refer to Joe harton quite
- 43:48Speaker 1: a long emotional post after last week. I think there's
- 43:51Speaker 1: been a bit of heat on the Giants' performances, and
- 43:55Speaker 1: she basically just came out and said, respect at all
- 43:58Speaker 1: levels is required. Yeah, absolutely, These players aren't going out,
- 44:02Speaker 1: they're not trying. For God's sake, they're working their asses off,
- 44:06Speaker 1: heart and soul into every single performance regardless of the result.
- 44:10Speaker 3: They need to be respected.
- 44:11Speaker 2: So there's more to look at than just the final
- 44:13Speaker 2: result too, And certainly the game we just had on
- 44:15Speaker 2: the weekend and last week's game, these are a whole
- 44:17Speaker 2: lot of stuff to be really happy about and proud
- 44:20Speaker 2: about and excited about for the Giants. And it's come on,
- 44:23Speaker 2: we're better than this.
- 44:24Speaker 3: Absolutely so well said Joe.
- 44:26Speaker 6: Yeah, well said Joe. We're with you, and yeah, I'll
- 44:29Speaker 6: be at the Giants. I'll be Team Giants this weekend.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Okay, well, I think that that is so we don't
- 44:35Speaker 2: have a win beneath our wings because we have technical issues.
- 44:38Speaker 2: And that's what happens when you get gen X in charge.
- 44:41Speaker 6: Of the technology.
- 44:42Speaker 3: And that's not a boomer.
- 44:44Speaker 6: Let us be proud of who we are. I'm not
- 44:46Speaker 6: a boomer. I didn't say you were they all right.
- 44:49Speaker 1: I think I got accused of being a boomer when
- 44:52Speaker 1: Steph Fretwell gave it to me about my phone cover.
