Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Hey, Discos, need a little more Disgraceland in your life,
- 0:05Speaker 1: just to touch to get you through. Yeah, me too.
- 0:08Speaker 1: This is the podcast that comes after the podcast. Welcome
- 0:11Speaker 1: to Disgraceland. The after Party. Welcome to the Disgraceland bonus episode,
- 0:31Speaker 1: a little thing we like to call the after party.
- 0:34Speaker 1: This is the show after the show, the party after
- 0:35Speaker 1: the party, the bridge to get you from one full
- 0:37Speaker 1: episode of Disgraceland to the other, the backyard to dig
- 0:40Speaker 1: into the dirt. On this episode we are talking about
- 0:44Speaker 1: lou Reed, b York succession, and of course your voice smails, text,
- 0:49Speaker 1: dms and more and as always a whole lot of rosy.
- 0:53Speaker 2: All right, Discos, let's get into it, guys.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Welcome.
- 1:08Speaker 3: What day is it? What month?
- 1:10Speaker 1: I don't know right now. I'm gonna be honest, I'm
- 1:12Speaker 1: totally out of it speaking to you in a haze
- 1:14Speaker 1: of jet lag, whisper room wrinkles in time, and fevered
- 1:17Speaker 1: lou Reed dreams of identity crisis. But all of that said,
- 1:20Speaker 1: I am so stoked to be here with you and
- 1:23Speaker 1: to have you here with me in the after Party.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I mentioned lou Reid because this here is unofficially lou
- 1:31Speaker 1: Read week in Disgraceland. We released two very weird episodes
- 1:36Speaker 1: on Lou Reed this past Tuesday. I say very weird
- 1:38Speaker 1: because we don't really done anything like this before these episodes. Admittedly,
- 1:43Speaker 1: they stretched the word true in the phrase true crime,
- 1:46Speaker 1: and that was of course intentional. Now, there's all kinds
- 1:51Speaker 1: of real life trouble that lou Reid entangled himself in
- 1:54Speaker 1: throughout his life and career. But in researching Lou I
- 1:58Speaker 1: was constantly running into two very interesting facts that made
- 2:01Speaker 1: me consider Lou read differently than any other subject that
- 2:05Speaker 1: I'd written about before. Number One, the crimes featured in
- 2:09Speaker 1: the songs of Lou Reed were more interesting to me
- 2:12Speaker 1: than any of the quote unquote crimes lou Reid may
- 2:14Speaker 1: have involved himself in personally. Velvet Underground songs like The Gift,
- 2:19Speaker 1: The Murder, Mystery, Venus and Furs, Heroin and others all
- 2:23Speaker 1: feature fictional crimes that I found to be super compelling,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and I thought to myself, well, hey, what if those
- 2:29Speaker 1: were true? What if lou had first hand experience with
- 2:34Speaker 1: those crimes? Of course he didn't, but that didn't stop
- 2:37Speaker 1: me because of reason number two, Lou Reed constantly made
- 2:42Speaker 1: shit up about his backstory, and he told this to
- 2:45Speaker 1: journalists all the time. He told him that he graduated
- 2:48Speaker 1: from Harvard, that his parents forced him to undergo electroshock
- 2:51Speaker 1: therapy at a young age because he was gay, a
- 2:53Speaker 1: claim that Lou's sister vehemently denies. And there's a whole
- 2:56Speaker 1: bunch of other shit that lou Reid told rock journalists
- 2:58Speaker 1: that was not true. That frankly was pretty awesome. I mean,
- 3:01Speaker 1: go ahead, lie your face off to rock journalists. Keep
- 3:04Speaker 1: mo honus, That's how I look at it. Make yourself
- 3:06Speaker 1: as compelling as fuck, keep the myth going. So I thought,
- 3:10Speaker 1: rather than tell the same type of story, artist grows up,
- 3:13Speaker 1: bad shit happens to him, he or she is awesome
- 3:16Speaker 1: at making music, and then they do bad shit to
- 3:17Speaker 1: other people and they eventually find redemption and cue the
- 3:20Speaker 1: Disgreat Slam theme song. I thought that instead of doing that,
- 3:22Speaker 1: that maybe I could tell the story of lou Reid,
- 3:24Speaker 1: or at least get to the character of who lou
- 3:27Speaker 1: Reid was through the crimes he detailed in his songs,
- 3:32Speaker 1: rather than crimes he committed. And these songs were, of
- 3:35Speaker 1: course the ones I mentioned above and others, and I
- 3:38Speaker 1: chose to do this all in a way that I
- 3:40Speaker 1: thought was very lou Reid. Lou Reid was a massive
- 3:45Speaker 1: fan of the authors Raymond Chandler and Hubert Selby Junior,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and I try to fuse the story of all the
- 3:50Speaker 1: vice and grime of Selby that was certainly part of
- 3:54Speaker 1: the environment, the real environment that lou Reid and the
- 3:56Speaker 1: Velvet Underground came up in and that they inhabited in
- 3:59Speaker 1: the mid nineteen sixties in New York. I try to
- 4:02Speaker 1: fuse that celbiesque vice with the style of author Raymond Chandler,
- 4:07Speaker 1: a writer that lou Reid adored and who very much
- 4:10Speaker 1: inspired the incredible lyrical style that lou had. If you
- 4:14Speaker 1: listen to these two episodes that I did, you're going
- 4:17Speaker 1: to hear that I'm basically copying Raymond Chandler's style one
- 4:20Speaker 1: hundred percent. I even created my own Philip Marlow type
- 4:23Speaker 1: protagonist to get into the story of lou Reid in
- 4:25Speaker 1: his early days in the Velvet Underground. It's told in
- 4:28Speaker 1: a way that brings again, it brings to life the
- 4:31Speaker 1: crimes and actions that are in these Velvet Underground songs.
- 4:35Speaker 1: You've got venus and furs come into life. You've got
- 4:38Speaker 1: the same thing going on with the song Heroin, the
- 4:40Speaker 1: song Waiting for My Man, and of course the murder mystery,
- 4:43Speaker 1: and then totally these two episodes live within the lyrics
- 4:48Speaker 1: of the song the Velvet Underground song the Gift. So
- 4:51Speaker 1: in all the characters from these songs, these incredible characters
- 4:55Speaker 1: that we read mentions by name who I always thought
- 4:57Speaker 1: were just real, kind of like New York characters, Beardless
- 5:00Speaker 1: Harry and sweet Jane, and you know, all of these
- 5:04Speaker 1: characters come into these episodes and they come to life.
- 5:07Speaker 1: We brought them to life for you. Trying to write
- 5:11Speaker 1: using lou Reed's very rich background that he created, trying
- 5:17Speaker 1: to write that in the style of Raymond Chandler was
- 5:20Speaker 1: super fun. I felt like I was in a band
- 5:22Speaker 1: that was covering a song, but instead of over three
- 5:25Speaker 1: and a half minutes, over ten thousand words. So because
- 5:29Speaker 1: of all this, these are quite honestly some of our
- 5:32Speaker 1: weirdest fucking episodes, but definitely some of the most fun
- 5:34Speaker 1: that we've had putting these stories together for you. And
- 5:37Speaker 1: don't worry, Velvet Underground fans, we will have a more
- 5:40Speaker 1: traditional Disgraceland episode on the Velvet Underground coming on the
- 5:44Speaker 1: entire band, not just Lou. Read that episode and their history.
- 5:47Speaker 1: It's going to be in the next season of Disgraceland.
- 5:50Speaker 1: All right, that's all I got on Uncle Lou. Hit
- 5:53Speaker 1: me up, let me know what you thought of the
- 5:54Speaker 1: episode so far. The reaction has been fantastic. Really appreciate
- 5:58Speaker 1: the feedback on social media. I can see the numbers
- 6:01Speaker 1: people are listening to the episodes. That's great. We totally
- 6:05Speaker 1: appreciate it. You know where to hit me up though,
- 6:07Speaker 1: at this gracelam pod or on the telephone at six
- 6:10Speaker 1: one seven nine zero six six six three eight back
- 6:13Speaker 1: with more after this, All right, guys. Beyond the questionable
- 6:37Speaker 1: true crimes of Lou Reed, this past week, we got
- 6:40Speaker 1: into some seriously real true crime with Byork over on
- 6:44Speaker 1: our YouTube channel with the video that we released. The
- 6:47Speaker 1: story is of Byork's stalker and his obsession with her
- 6:51Speaker 1: and what he ultimately attempted to bring to Fruition. It
- 6:54Speaker 1: is beyond disturbing, and the visuals we were able to
- 6:58Speaker 1: layer into the story and the video are creepy as fuck.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Here is a little taste. After seeing Byork's human behavior
- 7:06Speaker 1: video on MTV, Ricardo Lopez had a whole new obsession.
- 7:11Speaker 3: An obsession, Oh, that would turn deadly.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Such an attached to her.
- 7:21Speaker 4: I'm not going to kill somebody who's loved me.
- 7:24Speaker 1: He hallowed out a book and inserted a homemade device
- 7:28Speaker 1: that would spray out sulfuric acid when it was opened.
- 7:32Speaker 3: When Buork opened the rig book in her mail, the acid.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Would hit her directly in the face, and it might
- 7:38Speaker 1: not kill her, but it would hideously disfigure her. All Right, guys,
- 7:42Speaker 1: don't sleep on this B York episode. It's the perfect marriage,
- 7:45Speaker 1: if I do say so myself, of music and true crime,
- 7:48Speaker 1: and it's definitely the best video that we've done yet
- 7:51Speaker 1: over on our YouTube channel as we continue to find
- 7:53Speaker 1: a way to building an awesome YouTube channel for you guys,
- 7:56Speaker 1: So head over to YouTube dot com slash at Disgrace
- 7:58Speaker 1: slampod to watch it and make sure you subscribe. We
- 8:01Speaker 1: got new content come out every single day, every single day.

- 8:08Speaker 1: the onslaught of previously exclusive Disgraceland content continues. We are
- 8:14Speaker 1: pummeling you, pummeling you with hits like Tom Petty did.
- 8:17Speaker 1: That's what I like to say. As we do our
- 8:18Speaker 1: best to get our entire back catalog of archived episodes
- 8:22Speaker 1: out into all the podcast platforms. So since we last spoke,
- 8:28Speaker 1: we released episodes on eminem Whitney, Houston, Asap, Rocky the
- 8:31Speaker 1: Rolling Stones at Altamont. It's one of my favorites. And
- 8:36Speaker 1: in the next coming days we are re releasing our
- 8:39Speaker 1: two part episode on the Beach Boys. So as is
- 8:42Speaker 1: the new norm. Lots of Disgraceland content coming for you
- 8:46Speaker 1: guys to binge and that ain't changing anytime soon. All right,
- 8:50Speaker 1: this is the part of this bonus episode. These bonus

- 9:11Speaker 1: the Big d Hey Day.
- 9:14Speaker 5: This is Steve from Dallas. And I wasn't going to
- 9:17Speaker 5: play some of the music, but then I realized if
- 9:19Speaker 5: I did that, you wouldn't be able to play my message.
- 9:23Speaker 5: So I don't know if you've done one before, but
- 9:26Speaker 5: I would love to hear.
- 9:29Speaker 6: A Joy Division episode.
- 9:31Speaker 5: If you have already, please just let me know so

- 10:12Speaker 1: very close to that announcement. We're very close to these
- 10:14Speaker 1: new episodes. They are coming soon. Disgraceland is always on,
- 10:17Speaker 1: it's never off, it's never stopping. Enjoy Division is part
- 10:22Speaker 1: of your very near future. I'll have specific soon when
- 10:26Speaker 1: we do our full lineup announcement. And yes, Steve calls back,
- 10:30Speaker 1: leave a voicemail with your Vinie and Dime story. Thank
- 10:32Speaker 1: you and thanks for listening. Okay, we got who do
- 10:36Speaker 1: we get here? Anthony from the two oh six by
- 10:38Speaker 1: way of the two five three checked in.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Big Jake, what's going on? This is Anthony from the
- 10:44Speaker 4: two six by way of the two five to three.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Been loving disgrace Land really really became a fan of it.
- 10:51Speaker 4: During the twenty twenty lockdown, I just binged any and
- 10:55Speaker 4: everything I could. I even moved over to Amazon Music
- 10:59Speaker 4: just to get the exclusive content, and I still have
- 11:02Speaker 4: it even though everything's back on regular podcasts now. I
- 11:06Speaker 4: just wanted to say that the albums I've been listening
- 11:08Speaker 4: to in the springtime, these are classes from when I
- 11:11Speaker 4: was in high school. One of them is Busher's Confessions,
- 11:15Speaker 4: and then more recently is The Weekends After Hours because
- 11:19Speaker 4: that technically came out in the spring time of twenty twenty. Hey,
- 11:23Speaker 4: I got a suggestion, twenty seventh Club. Like I said,
- 11:27Speaker 4: I'm from the two oh six. You gotta do one
- 11:30Speaker 4: on my guy Kurt Cobain. Please please please. I know
- 11:35Speaker 4: I know you did one on Kirk Cobain in Disgraceland,
- 11:38Speaker 4: but I need more of like a beep dive of
- 11:41Speaker 4: him for the twenty seven Club. So if you could
- 11:43Speaker 4: do that, that will be awesome. And you know what's
- 11:45Speaker 4: speaking of the weekend. You think maybe some point down
- 11:48Speaker 4: the line we might be able to get a weekend
- 11:50Speaker 4: Disgraceland episode as well. I'm just saying, you know, exploring
- 11:53Speaker 4: some of the deep depth of his music and stuff
- 11:56Speaker 4: like that. So anyway, much love from the two oh
- 11:58Speaker 4: six look forward to the next episode. Can't wait. Also,
- 12:03Speaker 4: can't wait for bad Lands and all the other projects
- 12:05Speaker 4: you released.
- 12:06Speaker 1: And peace my brother, Anthony my man. Thanks for the voicemail.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Dude.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I appreciate your loyal listenership over the years, and I
- 12:13Speaker 1: appreciate you coming back to us with your springtime listening recommendations.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Based on our conversation in the after party last week.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I'm stoked to dig into that Usher album. Thank you,
- 12:24Speaker 1: thanks for recommending it. As for Kurt Cobain in the
- 12:27Speaker 1: twenty seventh Club, I have been toying with this idea
- 12:30Speaker 1: for a long time. You know, Kurt is kind of
- 12:33Speaker 1: the He's the big story in the twenty seven Club,
- 12:37Speaker 1: I think. Anyways, I've done pig Pen from The Grateful Dead,
- 12:41Speaker 1: I've done Janis Joplin, I've done Jim Morrison.
- 12:44Speaker 6: Is that it?
- 12:45Speaker 1: I think that's it. Jimmy Hendrix, Oh yeah, Jimmy was
- 12:48Speaker 1: the first one, Kurt, I'm gonna do it. I got
- 12:50Speaker 1: another one done though, another whole season done. I'm not
- 12:54Speaker 1: saying who the artist is yet, but it's coming soon.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I don't know where it's coming. I don't know where
- 12:59Speaker 1: you're gonna have to be to listen to it. I
- 13:00Speaker 1: might do something unique with this, but that's coming soon
- 13:04Speaker 1: and Kurt is definitely on the horizon. It's a perfect
- 13:08Speaker 1: format for the Kirk Comin story. We got the brain
- 13:10Speaker 1: trust here at Double Elvis on it. That's all I'm
- 13:13Speaker 1: going to say, Anthony, thanks for checking in, man, talk
- 13:15Speaker 1: to you soon. All right, let's do one more voicemail.
- 13:20Speaker 1: We're going to check in here with the seven oh two.
- 13:24Speaker 6: Hey, Jake, I just want to start out by saying
- 13:27Speaker 6: this Graceland far and beyond measure is my personal favorite
- 13:33Speaker 6: of all of the podcast. I mean, Joe Rogan, just
- 13:36Speaker 6: in second, I'll just be honest with you, man, like,
- 13:38Speaker 6: the thing that you've captured is something that a large
- 13:42Speaker 6: section of the United States and beyond has wanted and
- 13:46Speaker 6: need it, and you're nailing it. My friend. Don't ever stop, man,
- 13:50Speaker 6: just don't ever stop. It is a highlight when my
- 13:54Speaker 6: feed says, hey, new twenty seven Club New Disgraceland. It's
- 13:58Speaker 6: just it's just you know, Hollywood Land as well, and
- 14:01Speaker 6: it's just like, oh oh, Jase, good to talk.
- 14:03Speaker 5: It's gonna be awesome.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Dude.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate it.
- 14:09Speaker 1: You mentioned that I'm doing something for the country, for
- 14:12Speaker 1: the United States. I don't know about that, but I
- 14:16Speaker 1: appreciate it, and I'll accept that with kindness, and I
- 14:19Speaker 1: will offer up, in all humility, a couple of podcasts
- 14:22Speaker 1: that I think are actually doing something for the country,
- 14:25Speaker 1: something that the country really needs right now, which is
- 14:28Speaker 1: balance and objectivity and truth. And those podcasts are the
- 14:33Speaker 1: Breaking Points podcast with Sagar and Crystal and Barry Weiss's
- 14:37Speaker 1: podcast Honestly from the Free Press. Check those out both
- 14:42Speaker 1: they're great. Check them out if you haven't already, let
- 14:45Speaker 1: me know what you think or don't. I don't care.
- 14:47Speaker 1: I just did my part for America. You're welcome, and
- 14:51Speaker 1: of course, only listen to those podcasts after you listen
- 14:53Speaker 1: to disgrace Land and bad Lands. All right, let's do
- 14:56Speaker 1: some texts, all right, damn, lots of text messages. Let's
- 15:01Speaker 1: go with let's say from the seven, one, six, five,
- 15:04Speaker 1: Top movies, Top five movies, pulp Fiction, Fight Club, Natural
- 15:08Speaker 1: Born Killers, The Way We Were Goodfellas, Boogie Nights Tied.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Is that five?
- 15:13Speaker 1: That's one, two, three, four, five six. He broke the rules,
- 15:16Speaker 1: dude or dudet. But let's go through these real quick
- 15:20Speaker 1: pulp fiction definitely, and he's got it in the one slot.
- 15:23Speaker 1: And I get that pulp fiction. Nothing before or after
- 15:27Speaker 1: has ever, ever, ever, ever, ever happened in filmmaking like
- 15:32Speaker 1: the release of that movie. If you weren't alive for it,
- 15:35Speaker 1: you missed it. And a quick story. I may have
- 15:38Speaker 1: told this before, but I'm just reminded of it now.
- 15:40Speaker 1: If pulp fiction came out, I of course had seen
- 15:43Speaker 1: Reservoir Dogs. I knew of Reservoir Dogs. I was at
- 15:45Speaker 1: CMJ in New York City, which is a music conference.
- 15:49Speaker 1: If you're not aware of what that is, College Music
- 15:52Speaker 1: Journal Conference. This was back in whenever pulp fiction was
- 15:55Speaker 1: released ninety four, so before it was released wide, they
- 15:58Speaker 1: had a running of it for CMJ that they were showing,
- 16:01Speaker 1: and maybe it was already out in New York. I
- 16:03Speaker 1: don't know, but it was a big thing part of
- 16:05Speaker 1: the CMJ festival. So I go to this theater in
- 16:07Speaker 1: Union Square or time, I don't remember where it was.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I'm in there and I'm watching the movie. My mind's blown. Everyone.
- 16:14Speaker 1: It's like a huge theater, like I don't know, five
- 16:16Speaker 1: hundred people, a lot of people. And as soon as
- 16:19Speaker 1: it ends, like as the credits kick in with with
- 16:24Speaker 1: that freakin that incredible dick Dale riff that comes in loud,
- 16:30Speaker 1: a voice cuts in over the music and it says,
- 16:34Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen, if you would please remain seated, Quentin
- 16:37Speaker 1: Tarantino would like to come out and have a word
- 16:39Speaker 1: with you. And just then I shit you not. Quentin
- 16:43Speaker 1: Tarantino walks by me, right past me down the aisle
- 16:47Speaker 1: I was on an aisle seat, goes up to the front,
- 16:50Speaker 1: starts answering our questions. Unreal, unreal. I'll never forget that
- 16:56Speaker 1: blew my mind. I've had a lot of great experiences
- 16:59Speaker 1: in my life. Life, you know, when it comes to entertainment,
- 17:02Speaker 1: that's at the top for sure. Anyways, Okay, pulp fiction,
- 17:06Speaker 1: he's got number one fight club, Natural Born Killers, Slash,
- 17:08Speaker 1: The Way we Were. I've never seen the Way we were,
- 17:10Speaker 1: Goodfellas Slash, Boogie Knights Tied, I dam you can't. Yeah,
- 17:14Speaker 1: Booge Knights isn't as good as Good Fellas. Oh, this
- 17:16Speaker 1: is from Nicole from Buffalo. I'm sorry, Nicole, I called you, dude.
- 17:20Speaker 1: I didn't see your name here. Fight Club. My wife
- 17:23Speaker 1: has been on me to see this and we actually
- 17:25Speaker 1: watched it this past was it past week? Couple of
- 17:30Speaker 1: days ago? It wasn't wasn't too far in the rear
- 17:33Speaker 1: view mirror. I didn't love it. I like it a lot.
- 17:36Speaker 1: There's a lot. Can you can you love a lot
- 17:39Speaker 1: about a movie but not love the movie. That's how
- 17:41Speaker 1: I feel about the movie. There's there's something about the
- 17:47Speaker 1: way it looks that bums me out. It's this like
- 17:50Speaker 1: heavily stylized movie thing that I feel like they they
- 17:53Speaker 1: they made those scenes in the in the basement during
- 17:57Speaker 1: Fight Club look great, and then they made the rest
- 17:59Speaker 1: of the movie look like that, and I just it
- 18:01Speaker 1: just bummed me out. It just distracted me. I know
- 18:04Speaker 1: that's I'm picking knits, but yeah, I don't know. Okay,
- 18:08Speaker 1: I saw a list here, Nicole, appreciate it. Let's see
- 18:12Speaker 1: what we got here? What else we got? What else
- 18:14Speaker 1: we got?

- 19:45Speaker 1: IF i don't like or care about a particular, SUBJECT
- 19:47Speaker 1: i still listen to become just as invested as IF i.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Do so great. Job wanted to ask if you have
- 19:52Speaker 1: any plans to do an episode on the day The Music,
- 19:54Speaker 1: died or if you have already done one AND i
- 19:57Speaker 1: just missed the. Boat, Well, BRANDON i do have. Plans
- 20:01Speaker 1: this is one of those stories like you, know The
- 20:03Speaker 1: day The Music died for those of you who don't,
- 20:04Speaker 1: know is a reference to the day when the plane

- 20:10Speaker 1: The Big bopper and memorialized in that Song The day
- 20:14Speaker 1: The Music died By Oh Fuck Don? McLean is?
- 20:18Speaker 6: That?
- 20:18Speaker 1: Yeah, ANYHOW i don't know how to tell this. Story
- 20:22Speaker 1: it's been told so many, times AND i need a
- 20:24Speaker 1: unique angle into. IT i KNOW i say that a,
- 20:26Speaker 1: lot but it's the. TRUTH i don't want to just
- 20:28Speaker 1: be giving you guys the behind the music version of.
- 20:30Speaker 1: This not that there's anything wrong with. THAT i love
- 20:33Speaker 1: behind the, music of, course BUT i got my thing to,
- 20:35Speaker 1: do and oftentimes it just takes a unique point of
- 20:37Speaker 1: view to figure out how to tell these. Stories AND
- 20:39Speaker 1: i haven't figured that one out. Yet so from the
- 20:42Speaker 1: three to one, Six, hey It's. Jen from the three one.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Six when the weather gets, WARM i start Blasting Jimmy
- 20:47Speaker 1: buffett out the car, windows specifically boat, drinks but really
- 20:50Speaker 1: anything off songs you know by. Her, Well, JEN i
- 20:53Speaker 1: appreciate the. TEXT i have a, deep burning hatred Of Jimmy,
- 20:58Speaker 1: buffett and it's uh not for any good, reason AND
- 21:01Speaker 1: i think it's TIME i shed that. HATRED i don't
- 21:03Speaker 1: like hating things in general in. LIFE i don't even
- 21:06Speaker 1: like saying the WORD i teach my kids to never
- 21:08Speaker 1: say that. Word AND i know there's Good Jimmy buffett out.
- 21:12Speaker 1: THERE i know there. IS i don't know what it, is,
- 21:14Speaker 1: Though So i'm trying to Approach Jimmy buffett now in
- 21:17Speaker 1: my sort of middle, age in the same way THAT
- 21:19Speaker 1: i Approached The Grateful dead and How i'm Approaching Steely
- 21:23Speaker 1: dan with an open. Mind these are artists THAT i
- 21:25Speaker 1: hated WHEN i was a. Kid i've crossed over the
- 21:29Speaker 1: threshold With Steely dan And The Grateful. DEAD i of
- 21:31Speaker 1: course think both artists are, great AND i am open
- 21:34Speaker 1: to Receiving Jimmy buffett as my cheeseburger and paradise savior
- 21:41Speaker 1: in my AS i take on middle age. Here so you,
- 21:44Speaker 1: know if anyone's got any any Other Jimmy, Buffett i'll
- 21:47Speaker 1: check Out boat drinks And i'll check off anything from
- 21:50Speaker 1: songs you know by? Heart, jen thank. You any other

- 22:02Speaker 1: ah right from THE a two, eight this one looks.
- 22:04Speaker 1: PROMISING i find THAT i agree with You jake on
- 22:08Speaker 1: about ninety percent of. Everything, oh here it, Comes, here it.
- 22:12Speaker 1: COMES i was waiting for this and totally. Understand, oh
- 22:15Speaker 1: totally understand when you say That eminem isn't your bag
- 22:18Speaker 1: and you can't really honestly say he made great music
- 22:21Speaker 1: or makes great music, WHATEVER i have no problem with.
- 22:24Speaker 1: THAT i, do, however have a problem with you saying
- 22:29Speaker 1: That CARDI b made great. Music now, Again i'm not
- 22:32Speaker 1: the Biggest eminem fan of the, world BUT i could
- 22:33Speaker 1: definitely say he made great. Music AND i can a

- 22:45Speaker 1: ONE i hear. You here's the. Thing most of the
- 22:48Speaker 1: ARTISTS i cover objectively, speaking someone subjectively can think that
- 22:54Speaker 1: they make great. Music and, this of course is about the.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Device AND i can often find in any artist some,
- 23:03Speaker 1: greatness something, positive something truly, great even IF i don't
- 23:08Speaker 1: like that. Artist and you know what About eminem here
- 23:13Speaker 1: it IS i was. Wrong the guy's a fucking. Beast
- 23:17Speaker 1: i'm well aware of. That but on that, day WHEN
- 23:20Speaker 1: i was sitting there in my dingy studio at the
- 23:22Speaker 1: time writing that, EPISODE i had zero fucks For. EMINEM
- 23:26Speaker 1: i don't know.
- 23:26Speaker 4: WHY i just.
- 23:27Speaker 1: DIDN'T i didn't grow up Liking. EMINEM i didn't get
- 23:30Speaker 1: the whole. THING i thought it was, silly the whole
- 23:32Speaker 1: comic book horror nature of.
- 23:34Speaker 4: IT i thought it was.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Stupid but when it comes down to pure skills and
- 23:38Speaker 1: writing the occasional, banger the guy's a fucking, beast And
- 23:42Speaker 1: i'm a little bit scared of, him If i'm being,
- 23:44Speaker 1: Honest but, No i'm. Not but that's just the truth of.
- 23:48Speaker 1: It and now Out i'm out here on this fucking
- 23:50Speaker 1: island like the guy who doesn't Like. Eminem when the
- 23:52Speaker 1: truth of the matter, is SINCE i wrote that, Episode
- 23:56Speaker 1: i've fucking rocked out hard to Some. Eminem so there it.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Is there's the. TRUTH i was waiting for This CARDI,
- 24:01Speaker 1: b you know. What not of, Course i'm not putting
- 24:05Speaker 1: On CARDI b, records but there's great stuff, there do you.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Know AND i get the nature of the hot take
- 24:10Speaker 1: nature of this to comparing the artists back and. FORTH
- 24:13Speaker 1: i totally get. That but you can't say That CARDI
- 24:16Speaker 1: b doesn't have any great. Music you just. Can't you
- 24:18Speaker 1: can't say, that just LIKE i couldn't Say eminem didn't
- 24:22Speaker 1: you know WHAT i? Mean so in a, way you're
- 24:24Speaker 1: making your own. POINT i have a confuse the issue
