- 0:11I was born to kill it.
- 0:16I was meant to win.
- 0:17I am down and willing,
- 0:19so I will find a way.
- 0:20It took a minute,
- 0:21now it didn't happen right away.
- 0:23When they get hot in the kitchen,
- 0:24you decide to stay.
- 0:25That's how it went this way.
- 0:26Stick a fork in the head of a man.
- 0:35What is going on, everybody?
- 0:36Welcome to the Clydesdale Media Podcast.
- 0:39My name is Scott Switzer.
- 0:39I'm the Clydesdale.
- 0:40She is the fittest American
- 0:43woman on the planet.
- 0:45Ariel Lowen, what's going on?
- 0:47Hey, Scott.
- 0:48Good to talk to you.
- 0:49I've been seeing you do all
- 0:50these athlete interviews and I'm like,
- 0:51okay, when is ours?
- 0:52I need to talk to my boy.
- 0:54Yeah.
- 0:55So, well, I,
- 0:57anybody I did right before semifinals,
- 0:59I kind of put on hold to
- 1:01get some people that I
- 1:02didn't get before semis.
- 1:03And then like all the people
- 1:06I did at semis now are
- 1:07starting to kind of line up.
- 1:08And then I know like next
- 1:10week's kind of shut down for interviews.
- 1:12Like as you get on,
- 1:14cause not everybody's like you,
- 1:16like as we get closer to the games,
- 1:18like they just kind of shut down.
- 1:20Gotcha.
- 1:20Yeah.
- 1:22So, um, so yeah,
- 1:24speaking of interviews I
- 1:25did though last week,
- 1:27one of them was Emma McQuaid.
- 1:29Love it.
- 1:30And we talked about you.
- 1:32No, I need to go back and listen.
- 1:34So, um, it's basically the whole,
- 1:36in the very beginning of
- 1:37the interview where we
- 1:39talked about her home gym
- 1:41and how you are copying her
- 1:44and that when you grow up,
- 1:45you want to be just like her.
- 1:46Exactly.
- 1:47That's exactly right.
- 1:50And so we talked about why
- 1:53she built her gym, how she built it,
- 1:55why she wanted this space
- 1:57to her own because she's
- 1:59very particular and very
- 2:01much likes things in
- 2:03certain places and all that.
- 2:04And it all seemed like, you know,
- 2:06I've heard that from Ariel before.
- 2:09You're not wrong.
- 2:10Hers is like the, you know, the pinnacle.
- 2:13If ours can be 50% of what McQuaid has,
- 2:16I'll be one happy girl.
- 2:19So I noticed you doing some
- 2:20framing last week.
- 2:22Dylan.
- 2:23Yes.
- 2:24He actually,
- 2:25the back gym has been on hold
- 2:27for almost two months
- 2:29because it's just been excruciating heat.
- 2:31And he's like, man,
- 2:32the last thing I want to do
- 2:33is work in the sun all day,
- 2:35get home from work,
- 2:37work in the back shop.
- 2:38That's like a sauna, no AC.
- 2:40So it hasn't made much progress,
- 2:42but he did get the walls up,
- 2:45which he'll then put the
- 2:46decorative pieces on to
- 2:47make it look pretty.
- 2:50I saw you lifting the framing.
- 2:52Yeah, me and Dylan.
- 2:53He says he doesn't need me,
- 2:55but that thing is heavy.
- 2:56I know he needs me.
- 2:59What's really funny is I
- 3:00have friends here in
- 3:02Columbus who he's a
- 3:04two-time Masters champ.
- 3:06They bought a property
- 3:08because it had a barn on it.
- 3:09Okay.
- 3:10It also had a house,
- 3:11but they don't really care
- 3:12about the house.
- 3:13They just wanted the barn
- 3:15and they're renovating it into a gym.
- 3:18Who will you work out there?
- 3:20So it's not even close to
- 3:22being ready for a gym,
- 3:24but what's funny is, you know,
- 3:26he has the games,
- 3:28the masters games in
- 3:29September and his wife is his coach.
- 3:32And she's like,
- 3:32you cannot spend all your time out there.
- 3:35We have to train.
- 3:36We have to.
- 3:37Yeah.
- 3:38Prioritize.
- 3:39That's a fall project.
- 3:41Exactly.
- 3:41That's an off season thing.
- 3:44Yeah.
- 3:45Our goal was.
- 3:46after the games,
- 3:47maybe opening September 1st
- 3:49in the off season,
- 3:50but we have not made as
- 3:52much progress as we want.
- 3:53So now we're like, okay,
- 3:54maybe January 1st will be
- 3:56our opening date.
- 3:57But I think the off season
- 3:59is already looking a little busy.
- 4:00Who knows if that'll even happen.
- 4:04Well, you know what January 1st is, right?
- 4:06The new year.
- 4:08It's my birthday.
- 4:09Oh, that's right.
- 4:10And your birthday.
- 4:11Maybe we'll open on your birthday.
- 4:13You can be our special guest.
- 4:14There we go.
- 4:15Yeah, with Rudy and the Lent in their barn,
- 4:17I think my next interview
- 4:19with them is going to be at the site,
- 4:21whether it's done or not,
- 4:22just to kind of see it kind
- 4:25of up and the construction, all that.
- 4:28Yeah.
- 4:29But I think that it's cool
- 4:31that all these athletes are doing this.
- 4:34And I think they may even
- 4:36try to affiliate too,
- 4:37like you and McQuaid did.
- 4:39Cool.
- 4:40Is McQuaid affiliated?
- 4:42It is.
- 4:42Oh, wow.
- 4:44Yeah, that's the way to go.
- 4:46Yeah.
- 4:47I think that's good.
- 4:48There seems to be a trend
- 4:50with athletes making a
- 4:52better connection back to HQ.
- 4:56I'm interviewing Saxon Pancheck tomorrow.
- 4:58And the big reason for that
- 5:00is we talked about that on
- 5:01our last show that he
- 5:03needed to get a better
- 5:04connection with the community.
- 5:05Unlike you who like to work out alone,
- 5:07like he missed that.
- 5:10And when he got injured at semis,
- 5:11he didn't have a support
- 5:12group around him.
- 5:15And so he went back to like
- 5:17OG working out an affiliate,
- 5:20doing all that stuff
- 5:21because he needed that environment.
- 5:24That's awesome.
- 5:25I love that.
- 5:26See,
- 5:26I think I'm at a place where I don't
- 5:29necessarily want that for my training,
- 5:31but I want that because I
- 5:33feel like me and Dylan have
- 5:34so much to offer the
- 5:35community and we don't
- 5:37really have a CrossFit community.
- 5:39And I feel like
- 5:41We would love them as much
- 5:43as they would love us,
- 5:44kind of like giving back.
- 5:47But also with that comes
- 5:49more responsibility.
- 5:51And right now I don't have
- 5:52much responsibility.
- 5:53It's me and Blakely.
- 5:54And if we're happy, we're taken care of,
- 5:56we're good.
- 5:57So like to have a gym on top
- 5:59of that makes me a little overwhelmed,
- 6:01but I'm like, it's not even built yet.
- 6:03Why even worry about it?
- 6:05We don't even have members.
- 6:06What's there to worry about?
- 6:09I think that's what's cool
- 6:10about when you go to events though,
- 6:11because that's where your community is.
- 6:14Very true.
- 6:15When you're at semis or
- 6:16you're at the games or you're at,
- 6:18at Waterpalooza or whatever,
- 6:20you're with your community then.
- 6:21And you give back so much in those times,
- 6:23in those times.
- 6:24You're sweet.
- 6:25Yeah.
- 6:25It's funny because my
- 6:26community is worldwide,
- 6:28but in the Midland community,
- 6:30there's nothing.
- 6:31So just very different dynamics.
- 6:34Because the minute you come off the floor,
- 6:35like,
- 6:36like you're willing to talk to anybody.
- 6:38Yeah.
- 6:39And that's very different
- 6:41than not most of the athletes,
- 6:43but a good chunk of the athletes.
- 6:45Like they're so in a zone,
- 6:46it takes them time to like
- 6:47kind of come down from that.
- 6:50That's so sweet.
- 6:51Well, I'm actually already planning.
- 6:52It's Texas.
- 6:53So I'm going to do a big,
- 6:54I'm probably going to bring
- 6:55like five rogue shirts a
- 6:57day and just be on the
- 6:59lookout for like backstage interactions,
- 7:02fan interactions.
- 7:03Like who can I hand them out to every day?
- 7:05Just cause like, I mean,
- 7:06how fun would that be?
- 7:07I mean, I love my shirt.
- 7:09How fun would it be to be like, Oh,
- 7:11thank you for being here.
- 7:12Here's a rogue shirt.
- 7:15Well, wear it tomorrow and support me.
- 7:19Speaking of, I've got mine on.
- 7:23And why I love having you is
- 7:25you're awesome at assisting
- 7:26me on the segue.
- 7:28So you're a rogue athlete now.
- 7:30We talked about that briefly
- 7:31on the last show.
- 7:33But now you have a shirt.
- 7:37It is so cool.
- 7:38I love the claw marks on the
- 7:39back with the lion peeking through.
- 7:42Thank you.
- 7:44In that like turquoise.
- 7:45It's just, it's very impactful.
- 7:49Thank you.
- 7:50There's a bunch of different
- 7:51meanings to it.
- 7:52Unleash the beast inside.
- 7:54Like, you know, I love lions.
- 7:56So there's a lion, but like,
- 7:58Sometimes you have to unleash the beast.
- 8:01Like I train alone.
- 8:02I do all this work.
- 8:05It means nothing if I don't
- 8:06go out there and show it off.
- 8:07So like unleash the beast.
- 8:08And also like,
- 8:08I feel like we each have
- 8:10something we might be
- 8:11afraid to like show or do inside.
- 8:14So it's just like be brave,
- 8:16be confident and do it.
- 8:17But also, you know, we love lions.
- 8:19So I first, when Rogue approached,
- 8:22I was like,
- 8:23Okay, this is my logo.
- 8:24I love lions.
- 8:25And they kind of came back and were like,
- 8:27hey, with all respect,
- 8:28Lauren Fisher already has a lion shirt,
- 8:30so lion is off the table.
- 8:32Unless you can think of a
- 8:33creative way to do the lion different.
- 8:36And so how it all came
- 8:37together as collabing back and forth,
- 8:39to me, it's beautiful.
- 8:42See how nice you are?
- 8:43I'd be like, listen,
- 8:45Lauren Fisher is not the
- 8:46fittest American woman.
- 8:52I'm like, at the end of the day, I'm like,
- 8:55I love you guys.
- 8:56Thank you for having me on board.
- 8:58I'll do a fish.
- 8:59I'll do a mermaid.
- 9:00I'll do, you know,
- 9:01I'll do a mom lifting a baby.
- 9:04To me,
- 9:05Rogue was the biggest honor because
- 9:08they're very selective and
- 9:10who wouldn't love Rogue stuff?
- 9:12So I was just like, with all respect,
- 9:15I will do whatever you want.
- 9:16But I'm glad we came to an
- 9:17agreement and it's
- 9:18something creative and
- 9:19different and something I'm super,
- 9:20super proud of.
- 9:23It's funny because Amy and I
- 9:24were actually reminiscing
- 9:25today on the roundtable
- 9:27show where back in the day,
- 9:29Rogue used to invite their
- 9:31athletes in to do stuff.
- 9:32And there'd be like a pop-up
- 9:34on Instagram like, hey,
- 9:36Sam Briggs is going to be
- 9:37here from 1 to 3.
- 9:39Come watch her workout or whatever.
- 9:41And because we live so close,
- 9:44we would like hop in the
- 9:44car and like fly down to
- 9:46whoever that week and watch them.
- 9:49But they haven't done like
- 9:50that in probably...
- 9:52Since pre-COVID.
- 9:53Yeah.
- 9:54There was a time when the team series,
- 9:57I feel like a lot of,
- 9:58because I remember vividly
- 10:01watching Camille LeBlanc
- 10:03and whoever was on her team
- 10:05do like snatches at 155 in
- 10:07the Rogue team series,
- 10:09which was like an off-season thing.
- 10:12I was there.
- 10:13You were there?
- 10:15Speaking of Lauren Fisher,
- 10:16she was her teammate.
- 10:18Was she your teammate?
- 10:19Josh Bridges and Dan Bailey.
- 10:21Man, you remember better than I do.
- 10:24Like I said, I was there.
- 10:25Yeah, you were.
- 10:26So they used to have more opportunities,
- 10:28I'd say, to like host people there.
- 10:31And it was cool because
- 10:33especially during that team series,
- 10:34there wasn't a lot of pressure.
- 10:35So the athletes were just
- 10:36kind of hanging out kind of
- 10:37like you are all the time.
- 10:39Like they're just on a box
- 10:40talking to you and,
- 10:43and they'd put that out on Instagram,
- 10:44but unless you're in Columbus,
- 10:46there's no way you're getting there.
- 10:47No,
- 10:48it'd be like 20 people tops sitting
- 10:51there watching them do their workout.
- 10:54And so it was very intimate
- 10:55and very kind of like a cool experience.
- 10:58Yeah.
- 10:58And you got to live it.
- 11:00Yeah.
- 11:01Yeah.
- 11:02My daughter was a huge Annie
- 11:03Thorisdottir fan.
- 11:05And the one year Annie and
- 11:07Camille were on a team
- 11:08together and they announced it.
- 11:10And I went and got her out
- 11:12of school and took her down
- 11:15to meet Annie.
- 11:16Is she still a CrossFit fan?
- 11:19I think I pushed too hard
- 11:20when she was a middle teenager.
- 11:23But she just started working
- 11:25out again at 22.
- 11:26Okay.
- 11:26So she's finding it for herself.
- 11:30Yeah.
- 11:32So after I laid off a little bit,
- 11:33she's kind of coming back.
- 11:35She's asked to borrow my gym
- 11:36equipment from my garage at times.
- 11:39So it's starting,
- 11:40it's starting to like come back in.
- 11:42Do you let her?
- 11:43Yeah.
- 11:45If it's stuff I don't need
- 11:46in the coming week or so,
- 11:48or as long as she brings it back.
- 11:54Yeah.
- 11:54I was going to say that
- 11:55stuff isn't cheap either to be like,
- 11:57I don't borrow your bumper
- 11:58plates in a bar.
- 12:00You're losing two grand right there.
- 12:04Ariel, I'm your biggest fan.
- 12:06Sob, sob.
- 12:07I don't know.
- 12:08There's a lot of big fans out there.
- 12:09I would say prove it.
- 12:13And that's from Dylan Loween.
- 12:16Something like that.
- 12:20It'll be fun this year at
- 12:21the games because people
- 12:23are jumping on the Dylan train.
- 12:26So I'm fully expecting him
- 12:28to get overwhelmed with
- 12:30people stopping him, not stopping me.
- 12:35So speaking of Dylan, again,
- 12:36great segue for me.
- 12:39I saw your story today where
- 12:41he has a theory of what
- 12:43Chad is going to be.
- 12:45Yeah.
- 12:45What did you think?
- 12:46I think he's,
- 12:47I think it's a great way to
- 12:49do the workout.
- 12:49I think everything is logical.
- 12:53I don't think they're doing chat outside.
- 12:55No.
- 12:55Okay.
- 12:56This is for those that
- 12:57didn't hear Dylan's prediction.
- 12:59He thinks there'll be two heats,
- 13:02the bottom 20 men, bottom 20 women.
- 13:06You do 50 step ups on the pig,
- 13:08flip the pig, 50 step ups on the pig,
- 13:11flip the pig.
- 13:11And we'd go like from
- 13:12sideline to sideline.
- 13:14So it'd be 10 flips down, 10 flips back,
- 13:16and then we're done with Chad.
- 13:18The only reason he thinks
- 13:19that the pig is 20 inches high,
- 13:22Dave's mentioned that it's
- 13:23hard to do longer events in
- 13:25the Dickies Arena.
- 13:27So that's why we're assuming that.
- 13:29We could be way off,
- 13:30but Dave did reshare him
- 13:33saying that to his story today.
- 13:35So I don't know if that's him saying like,
- 13:37hey, good idea, or if it's like, man,
- 13:40they just figured it out.
- 13:45And my basis for not
- 13:46thinking it's going to be
- 13:47that way is just as kind of
- 13:51out there as Dylan's guess.
- 13:54In my opinion, if Dave shares it,
- 13:56he's just trying to throw people off.
- 13:58Yeah, that's true.
- 14:00But Dave was on one of the
- 14:02interviews he did,
- 14:03and they asked him what
- 14:05order or something he was...
- 14:08Or what was his favorite or
- 14:09most excited for this year?
- 14:11He said event one, event two, Chad,
- 14:16the Farrington Field.
- 14:18Because of the way he said it,
- 14:19it made me think that Chad
- 14:22is event three.
- 14:25And that would mean it's not
- 14:27Farrington Field.
- 14:28Yeah.
- 14:29Because that's going to be
- 14:30probably six on Friday night.
- 14:33Yeah, I would assume so.
- 14:35if we go by normal kind of pacing.
- 14:39But.
- 14:39I hope you're right because
- 14:43CrossFit already has the
- 14:44persona that we do way too many reps.
- 14:47We do crazy workouts and we
- 14:49hurt ourselves.
- 14:50And so if you're opening an
- 14:51event up to the community to come watch,
- 14:53it's like,
- 14:54watch these people do a thousand step ups,
- 14:56which is a lot of reps.
- 14:57Watch them do it with a
- 14:57backpack and watch them
- 14:58flip this odd object.
- 15:00Like to me,
- 15:01to invite people in to jump on
- 15:03the CrossFit train is,
- 15:05I don't think it's a good
- 15:07representation of what the
- 15:09affiliate should even be programming.
- 15:12Yeah.
- 15:12My friend Corey, who's in the chat,
- 15:14he predicted on our ground
- 15:15table today that you're all
- 15:17going to line up at a corral.
- 15:20It's Fort Worth,
- 15:20so they do the daily cattle drive.
- 15:23They're going to let the athletes go.
- 15:25Then they're going to let
- 15:25the cows go and the bulls.
- 15:28And whoever gets to the site
- 15:30first gets the first boxes.
- 15:33And hopefully you avoid the
- 15:34bulls and the cows in the process.
- 15:36Love it.
- 15:37The agility at its finest.
- 15:39Yeah.
- 15:40And the rucksacks will be red.
- 15:42So the bulls will be charging.
- 15:45Yeah.
- 15:45We can take them off and fan them.
- 15:48Yeah.
- 15:49Maybe, maybe so.
- 15:52That'd be funny.
- 15:53Honestly,
- 15:54I think Dylan's prediction is
- 15:55about a sound of like,
- 15:56I think that would be a great workout.
- 15:59Yeah.
- 16:00In theory, it makes sense.
- 16:01We've done 20 pig flips.
- 16:04He said, there's a twist, you know,
- 16:05it makes sense in theory.
- 16:07And I wouldn't be mad about
- 16:08it just because it would
- 16:09break up the step ups a little bit more.
- 16:11Yeah.
- 16:12Cause we did half Chad on
- 16:14Friday this past Friday and Blakely was
- 16:18Fell asleep watching us.
- 16:19Like I'm just goofing, but it's,
- 16:21I felt bored.
- 16:23I'm sure our neighbors were
- 16:24bored watching us.
- 16:25Like there was nothing
- 16:26exciting about step ups.
- 16:29Right.
- 16:29I think Dave likes the mental test of it.
- 16:32Yeah.
- 16:32That's what he's testing.
- 16:34But I just don't know how
- 16:37the fans get into that.
- 16:39Right.
- 16:40So we'll see what the twist is.
- 16:41Hopefully it adds.
- 16:42I also thought of like the 100 style.
- 16:45Did you ever watch the
- 16:46physical 100 on Netflix?
- 16:48I have not.
- 16:49Okay.
- 16:50Whoever's their programmer,
- 16:52super creative spectacles,
- 16:55really impressive if you
- 16:56ever want to go watch it.
- 16:58But I think it'd be fun even
- 16:59if like all the women go.
- 17:01The first 100 women or not even 100 women.
- 17:08The first 35 people to the
- 17:12200 step-ups advance.
- 17:14The first 30 people to the
- 17:16300 step-ups advance.
- 17:17So there's like slowly this
- 17:19pyramid of like, at the end,
- 17:21there's only two people going for 50.
- 17:23Like where you can see there's cuts,
- 17:25so you have to go fast to
- 17:27advance to the next section.
- 17:29But I also think you could
- 17:30game it and only do half
- 17:32Chad and not be as fatigued
- 17:33as the person who wins it.
- 17:34So I don't see that happening either.
- 17:36Yeah.
- 17:37That it's hard because
- 17:39everything you come up with,
- 17:40there's like a,
- 17:41a thing that Dave doesn't like.
- 17:43Right.
- 17:43Like he hated the fact,
- 17:44I think he even said it with,
- 17:45it was either with you or
- 17:46Emily where when Tia almost
- 17:49finished that workout in
- 17:50one and he did two minutes
- 17:53of work and everybody else did nine.
- 17:55Yeah.
- 17:56That he was pissed about
- 17:58that for a long time.
- 17:59Yeah.
- 17:59There was a flaw somewhere in the system.
- 18:01Yeah.
- 18:03So you don't want someone
- 18:05doing 200 step-ups and
- 18:06another person doing 1,000.
- 18:07Right.
- 18:09That's a big difference.
- 18:10And penalize the winner
- 18:11doesn't seem right either.
- 18:13No, exactly.
- 18:14Denise Moore says,
- 18:19how hard is a pig flip wearing a ruck?
- 18:21I would imagine it would be really hard.
- 18:23Pig flips are hard without a ruck.
- 18:28Yeah.
- 18:29I mean, even whenever I wore it Friday,
- 18:31the ruck is uncomfortable.
- 18:34rubbing on spots.
- 18:35So to add another element to do in there,
- 18:39it would, it would be,
- 18:39it would beat me up.
- 18:40And I'm sure other people, uh,
- 18:43Corey saying is Scott
- 18:44drinking chocolate milk.
- 18:46I get that every time I have,
- 18:47this is actually a paper
- 18:48street frost with, with oat milk.
- 18:54Yeah.
- 18:55Cool.
- 18:56Dylan tried one yesterday
- 18:57for the first time.
- 18:59Cause he was like,
- 18:59everybody's been posting about the frost.
- 19:02I need to try them.
- 19:04I think he expected them to
- 19:05be like a sugary Starbucks drink.
- 19:07And I'm like, no,
- 19:08it's just straight coffee.
- 19:09So once he added his half and half,
- 19:11he said it was perfect.
- 19:13Yeah.
- 19:14Like if I'm at like an event
- 19:15and I pop the can,
- 19:16like I'll drink it straight.
- 19:18Yeah.
- 19:18I'm like chilling in the
- 19:19middle of the afternoon.
- 19:20I want it kind of iced down
- 19:22and a little bit of oat milk.
- 19:24A little bit happy.
- 19:25Easy.
- 19:25Yeah.
- 19:29But yeah, super cool.
- 19:30So enough about Chad.
- 19:33I think it's got enough run
- 19:35already this week.
- 19:36Too much run.
- 19:39You were named captain at FitFest today.
- 19:41Like you've been in the news
- 19:42a lot in the last 24 hours.
- 19:46What else?
- 19:47Oh yeah.
- 19:50All that's, you know.
- 19:52Okay.
- 19:52Yeah.
- 19:52So they approached me,
- 19:54they approached me a while
- 19:55ago and it was one of those, it's like,
- 19:57man, if I'm healthy and able to,
- 20:00why not go to the UK again?
- 20:02And then to be a team captain,
- 20:03I thought was icing on the cake.
- 20:07Pretty cool.
- 20:08So we talked last year, you,
- 20:10you loved fit fest.
- 20:12Loved it.
- 20:13Yeah.
- 20:13Yeah.
- 20:15So is it more of an
- 20:15exhibition or a competition?
- 20:18Exhibition.
- 20:19Because at the end of the day,
- 20:20there's no prize money.
- 20:22There's no,
- 20:23like this doesn't add to our
- 20:24season or anything as far
- 20:26as credentials wise.
- 20:28It's just let's throw down and be fit.
- 20:30But I mean,
- 20:31we're all competitors at heart.
- 20:32So we can say there's nothing on the line,
- 20:34but we were still
- 20:36strategizing and trying to
- 20:37win as best as possible.
- 20:41Well, and from what I understand,
- 20:43the European crowd or the
- 20:45UK crowd just loved all of you all.
- 20:49Oh, they were so sweet.
- 20:50They're the most respectful
- 20:54audience because they just
- 20:55come up to you and be like, oh, Ariel,
- 20:58dear, can I bother you for a picture?
- 21:01And just in their sweet
- 21:02accents and they're so polite and kind.
- 21:04But I was just like, of course, yes.
- 21:07And they're just very respectful, I found.
- 21:10Not that Americans aren't,
- 21:11they just ask in a different way.
- 21:14Yeah.
- 21:14It's the accent.
- 21:15They can get away with so
- 21:16much with that accent.
- 21:17It's the accent.
- 21:18The only thing that sucks
- 21:19about FitFest with first world problems,
- 21:22the flight over there is
- 21:23nine to 10 hours.
- 21:25So like just sitting on an
- 21:27airplane that long, it destroyed me.
- 21:29My back was hurting.
- 21:31It was a full flight.
- 21:32So I had the middle seat and
- 21:34we flew at night.
- 21:35So I was supposed to sleep, but I didn't.
- 21:37So just all like my back hurts.
- 21:39I'm tired.
- 21:40I'm hungry.
- 21:40I want to walk on land.
- 21:43That's the only negative.
- 21:45I cannot even imagine that.
- 21:46Last year after Pasadena,
- 21:49I got the middle seat on
- 21:50the way back from California.
- 21:52And it was like six hours
- 21:55and I wanted to just crawl
- 21:57out of my skin.
- 21:59Isn't it bad?
- 22:01So bad.
- 22:02Yeah.
- 22:02But me and Dylan,
- 22:03like we don't mess around when we travel.
- 22:05So we didn't sleep that night.
- 22:07and then stayed up for an
- 22:08additional 12 hours because
- 22:10it was daytime in London.
- 22:11So we never got jet lag
- 22:13because when we went to bed,
- 22:14we were passed out and then
- 22:17woke up at 9 a.m.
- 22:18London time, handled it like champs.
- 22:23But also, we didn't have Blakely with us.
- 22:26So I think it would be
- 22:27harder to adjust with a kid
- 22:28than it would be to adults.
- 22:31sure sure going west is easy
- 22:34for me coming back east if
- 22:36I'm in if I if I am west
- 22:38too long coming back I get
- 22:40jet lag interesting but
- 22:43going west I never have a
- 22:45problem okay will you have
- 22:49a problem coming to texas
- 22:52no no that's only an hour
- 22:54something like nothing no
- 22:58And actually,
- 22:58I'm more of a night owl anyway,
- 23:00so that hour actually feeds
- 23:02into my normal state more.
- 23:06Okay.
- 23:10So, yeah.
- 23:10So another question I had
- 23:11for you is with all of this
- 23:14success and all that's going on,
- 23:16do you have a hard time
- 23:18saying no to everything
- 23:21that's going on in your life now?
- 23:24No,
- 23:24I think I've been really good with
- 23:25boundaries.
- 23:26Like it seems like I have a lot,
- 23:28but in this season,
- 23:30in my everyday life of June and July,
- 23:32I've said no to a few
- 23:34things so I can have peace
- 23:35at home and peace during training.
- 23:37But I think as far as the
- 23:39big events like sit fest, potentially,
- 23:41hopefully rogue,
- 23:43some of those things are
- 23:43once in a lifetime experience.
- 23:46And I'm also very aware that
- 23:49success in the sport does not last long.
- 23:52So I'm like, man,
- 23:53I want to soak up as much
- 23:54as I can as long as I'm healthy mentally,
- 23:57physically,
- 23:58and my family's on board too as well.
- 24:02So hypothetically,
- 24:04you have a great CrossFit Games.
- 24:06You podium again.
- 24:06If we're going to dream this out,
- 24:09let's dream it out.
- 24:10Put it out there.
- 24:12Then you finish that.
- 24:14So that gives you the
- 24:14automatic bid to Rogue.
- 24:16Right.
- 24:18you have the, uh, water Palooza,
- 24:20SoCal with North America
- 24:22versus the world.
- 24:24If you were asked to do that,
- 24:27that could be on the table.
- 24:28Then you have rogue coming up,
- 24:30then you have fit fest,
- 24:32then possibly water Palooza,
- 24:33Miami and that competition,
- 24:36which you have gotten to
- 24:37the last few years.
- 24:39Yeah.
- 24:39And that a lot.
- 24:41Right.
- 24:42Would you be able to do all
- 24:43that or would you have to
- 24:45say no to something?
- 24:47I think, uh,
- 24:48Right now, in this moment,
- 24:50I say bring it on.
- 24:52Because I don't know when my
- 24:54last competition will be.
- 24:56And I'm fearful, like, let's say,
- 24:59unfortunately, it's next season.
- 25:01I would regret not going to
- 25:04Scotland for Rogue,
- 25:05not going to the UK again.
- 25:07But I would say, like,
- 25:08if I'm looking at those in
- 25:09order of importance,
- 25:11if I got invited to the SoCal,
- 25:13that looks like fun.
- 25:14Not too much pressure.
- 25:15It's a team thing.
- 25:16Rogue,
- 25:16I would prioritize because it's
- 25:19Rogue in Scotland over FitVest,
- 25:21unfortunately.
- 25:22So I would just have to look
- 25:23at what's most important.
- 25:25But the biggest thing is my
- 25:27family is the dictator.
- 25:28So with me, Dylan, and Blakely, healthy,
- 25:31great, on the same page, cool.
- 25:33We'll make it happen.
- 25:35Yeah.
- 25:39I would be like you because
- 25:41I would say yes to everything.
- 25:42That's just who I am as a person.
- 25:44Right.
- 25:46And you never know when
- 25:47you're going to get the
- 25:47opportunity again.
- 25:48So why not take advantage of
- 25:50it when you can?
- 25:50Right.
- 25:52But Kim,
- 25:53I think my big question is can
- 25:55athletes of the future
- 25:56survive seasons like that?
- 25:59See, that's a good point.
- 26:00I think if you're trying to
- 26:02peak for all of those, absolutely not.
- 26:05But I, I enjoy CrossFit.
- 26:08I enjoy,
- 26:09sometimes I don't enjoy games
- 26:11training because games
- 26:12training is different than
- 26:13CrossFit in my opinion.
- 26:14I enjoy fitness all year round.
- 26:16So for me,
- 26:17I don't feel like it's that big
- 26:19a deal because I'm not
- 26:20going to be games fit,
- 26:21but I'll be fit enough to do enough.
- 26:27Um, here's a good question.
- 26:30Denise Moore,
- 26:31who is a Masters Games athlete,
- 26:33would Ariel consider
- 26:34competing in her 50s and
- 26:3560s as a Masters athlete?
- 26:39I think as of right now,
- 26:40I'm not considering Masters,
- 26:42but that could change.
- 26:44I'm assuming, like in my perfect world,
- 26:46when I'm done with the CrossFit Games,
- 26:49I'll know it, I'll feel it,
- 26:50it'll be obvious.
- 26:52Me and Dylan will pursue
- 26:53maybe having a few more kids,
- 26:55opening the affiliate back there,
- 26:57and my focus will no longer be me,
- 26:59and it'll be
- 27:00other people.
- 27:03Um, what zombie says, I think they can,
- 27:06as long as it's not games level volume,
- 27:08makes what a blues in SoCal doable.
- 27:11And the other games athletes
- 27:13will be in the same boat.
- 27:15I'd agree with that,
- 27:16but that would be a fear of,
- 27:18is it too much?
- 27:19Do I need to just do nothing?
- 27:21But I also know I like
- 27:22having something to look forward to.
- 27:24seasons of nothing.
- 27:25I almost get bored or I lose motivation.
- 27:28Like I like semi training for something.
- 27:32Just back on Denise's question real quick.
- 27:35I look at someone like Val
- 27:36Vobrol who is very much
- 27:37like you or you are like
- 27:40her cause she came first.
- 27:41Yeah, she did.
- 27:42She's a podium athlete.
- 27:44Uh,
- 27:45she's a teacher full time mother.
- 27:48And then she kind of walked
- 27:50away from the sport for a little bit.
- 27:53And now this year she's
- 27:54coming back in the 40 to 44
- 27:57year old division.
- 28:00So like, I could see you doing that.
- 28:03Like, yeah.
- 28:05Be the mom.
- 28:06I take that time.
- 28:07And then like 10 years down the road going,
- 28:09Hey, let's take a swing.
- 28:11Yeah.
- 28:12I'd like to still be
- 28:14involved in CrossFit in some capacity,
- 28:16whatever that looks like,
- 28:17whether it's just owning the affiliate,
- 28:19helping them out where they
- 28:21need to announcing maybe
- 28:24backstage at a CrossFit booth,
- 28:26getting people to sign up
- 28:27for their own one, something.
- 28:30Yeah, awesome.
- 28:32Jeffrey Birchfield, fellow Texan.
- 28:34By the way, Ariel, I work out in my tent.
- 28:37I would love a picture of that.
- 28:39I'm picturing like a pointy
- 28:42tent that you could buy at Academy.
- 28:47I think, I know Jay Birch a little bit.
- 28:50So he used to work out in his garage.
- 28:52His family moved.
- 28:54Okay.
- 28:54I'm wondering if he's forced
- 28:56to be in a tent while
- 28:58they're fixing up the house.
- 28:59That's commitment.
- 29:02So, just guessing.
- 29:04Jonathan Ortega says a yurt.
- 29:07A yurt.
- 29:09I think Ortega will be here next week.
- 29:11Do you know Erin?
- 29:12She's a photographer.
- 29:14Erin Murphy.
- 29:16I would probably know where to see her.
- 29:19Okay.
- 29:19I know Aaron for sure has booked a ticket.
- 29:21I don't know if Ortega has,
- 29:23maybe he can let us know in the comments,
- 29:24but I've always wanted to
- 29:25do a day in the life games
- 29:27training because I feel like my day,
- 29:29even from what I'm hearing
- 29:30other people talk on podcasts, um,
- 29:33like other athletes get to nap.
- 29:36Um, somebody makes all their food for, um,
- 29:39they get all this body work done.
- 29:41And I'm like, I want people to see.
- 29:43My day in the life.
- 29:44Give them a little taste.
- 29:45So Aaron will be here next
- 29:46week to film that for me.
- 29:47Should be fun.
- 29:49Yeah.
- 29:49Or take it there too.
- 29:51Cool.
- 29:51And they're actually going
- 29:52to be staying in the guest room.
- 29:54So it'll honestly be our
- 29:57first guests to stay with us.
- 29:59Minus my mom and dad and Dylan's mom,
- 30:02but that's family.
- 30:03That doesn't count.
- 30:05Yeah.
- 30:06And Jonathan,
- 30:07did they both shoot you at semis?
- 30:10Yeah.
- 30:10Yeah.
- 30:13And I had seen him around the scene a bit,
- 30:15but that was the best thing I ever did.
- 30:17Cause some of the content
- 30:18they got was perfect.
- 30:20It was great.
- 30:24Denise says,
- 30:24I always think this is my last year,
- 30:26but then just when I think I'm out,
- 30:29they pull me back in.
- 30:30Exactly.
- 30:32Exactly.
- 30:32But I will say this has been
- 30:35the mentally hardest games
- 30:36training I've had in my
- 30:38games training experience.
- 30:40So I'm trying to decipher why that is.
- 30:43don't know if it's because
- 30:44I'm like I want to do good
- 30:46I want to be better than
- 30:46last year when last year I
- 30:48was really good or it's
- 30:49just I'm in the thick of it
- 30:51and games training is hard
- 30:53so I'm just like okay keep
- 30:54pushing through we're
- 30:54almost there but I don't
- 30:56remember it being this hard
- 30:58to do the work in previous
- 30:59years you know what I'm
- 31:02really bad at I was I told
- 31:04you this was going to be 30
- 31:05minutes and we're already past 30 minutes
- 31:08It's okay.
- 31:09I'm content.
- 31:10Blakely's playing with slime.
- 31:11I'm good.
- 31:12I only have one big question.
- 31:15Because I tried to keep the
- 31:16questions down for this one,
- 31:18knowing that I'm really bad at it.
- 31:20No, you're good.
- 31:23So you went to semifinals.
- 31:25You went to Carson.
- 31:27Yeah.
- 31:28And really,
- 31:29there's just a series of
- 31:29questions about this.
- 31:31So you go there.
- 31:31There's this epic, nostalgic place.
- 31:36What was that like?
- 31:38How disappointing was it
- 31:39that the crowd was low?
- 31:42I think the venue is made to be filled.
- 31:45So when it's not filled,
- 31:46it's really obvious that it's not.
- 31:49So that was disappointing,
- 31:50but the highlight of
- 31:51semifinals were the volunteers and the,
- 31:54unfortunately, unless you were there,
- 31:56you couldn't see it on TV.
- 31:58You couldn't experience it.
- 31:59But like one example was
- 32:01when we went out for the run,
- 32:02which we were supposed to do the berm,
- 32:03but like that whole thing,
- 32:05the whole tunnel was lined
- 32:07with volunteers.
- 32:08So every time we went out or came in,
- 32:10they're just all there like, let's go,
- 32:13let's go, you're great, keep it up.
- 32:15So where the crowd wasn't there,
- 32:18the volunteers that showed up,
- 32:20they were like the best cheers,
- 32:22the best support system
- 32:24backstage and on the floor.
- 32:25So people say like, oh, the crowd sucked.
- 32:28Like, well, what's your perspective?
- 32:30The people who paid to show
- 32:32up or the people that were
- 32:32there for free volunteering their time?
- 32:34Because the volunteers...
- 32:36were the best crowd I've ever heard.
- 32:38Yeah.
- 32:40I wish I could have got there.
- 32:41I wish they would have given
- 32:42me enough notice to get
- 32:43there because at syndicate, there was,
- 32:46it was a good crowd at syndicate.
- 32:48Yeah.
- 32:48It looked legit, but never in the call us.
- 32:52I don't know what you'd even
- 32:52call it on a stadium floor.
- 32:54You know, sometimes you can just feel the,
- 32:56like that was never felt,
- 32:59but it looked like that was
- 33:00felt at syndicate.
- 33:02Yeah.
- 33:04Yeah.
- 33:04Well at the games,
- 33:05it's going to be insane
- 33:06because like Madison was what?
- 33:094,500 maybe capacity.
- 33:11And now you're moving to double that.
- 33:14But they still need more room.
- 33:15I know it's sold out in like a day.
- 33:19I know.
- 33:20I know my, my poor mom,
- 33:21she waited to get tickets
- 33:23until I qualified.
- 33:25And that's when they're what?
- 33:26Like a thousand a piece.
- 33:28It's just like, I don't know about this,
- 33:31but yeah, they're ridiculous.
- 33:34that's gotta be rough.
- 33:36Yeah.
- 33:36I can't even imagine if my,
- 33:38but if it's my daughter, like you gotta,
- 33:40you gotta do it.
- 33:41Right.
- 33:42Yeah.
- 33:42And that's, I mean,
- 33:43we can get into that a whole nother time,
- 33:45but it's like, if you want to be there,
- 33:47you'll be there.
- 33:48But I also get that it's super expensive.
- 33:50Yeah.
- 33:52Yeah.
- 33:52I remember,
- 33:53we don't have to get into that.
- 33:54I'm already past time.
- 33:56So, so you do the weekend,
- 33:58you do the weekend and yeah,
- 34:03I heard you say somewhere
- 34:04that it was a little bit of
- 34:06a – maybe it was either you or Alex.
- 34:08Everything's morphing
- 34:09together with all these Dave interviews.
- 34:11You're good.
- 34:12You're good.
- 34:13And it's like there was a
- 34:15little bit of a
- 34:15disappointment coming in third.
- 34:19Was it you or Alex that said
- 34:20– because you really were –
- 34:22you wanted to win.
- 34:24Yeah.
- 34:25So I'll say I definitely
- 34:26went into the weekend
- 34:27wanting to win and training to win,
- 34:30but I also, it's no, it's my own fault.
- 34:32I also did not practice any
- 34:34of them and I chose not to
- 34:35practice any of them because I mean, I'm,
- 34:39I don't feel the need to,
- 34:40I felt confident enough that I'd qualify.
- 34:41So I was like, man, if I'm supposed to win,
- 34:44I'll do it right the first
- 34:44time and it'll happen.
- 34:45So there was a little bit of
- 34:47disappointment.
- 34:48I didn't win,
- 34:48but I also expected to get fourth.
- 34:51And so whenever they called me at third,
- 34:52I was ecstatic.
- 34:53So there was like Friday and Saturday,
- 34:57the realization of like, okay,
- 34:59if you wanted to win,
- 35:00you probably should have prepared better.
- 35:01Okay, let's try and just make podium.
- 35:03So like I had the pity party Friday,
- 35:05Saturday, Sunday,
- 35:06I was ecstatic to get third.
- 35:09But it's no fault other than my own.
- 35:12So when we talked last year after semis,
- 35:15there was disappointment
- 35:16because you kind of had the win.
- 35:19Right.
- 35:19And you said like, and you didn't,
- 35:22you didn't have that push.
- 35:24Right.
- 35:24You should have had to take it.
- 35:27Yeah.
- 35:29And then that seemed to like,
- 35:30you seem to have cured that by the games.
- 35:32Yeah.
- 35:33I did.
- 35:33Yeah.
- 35:35And that's another thing kind of at peace.
- 35:37I,
- 35:38I felt like I gave my all in every
- 35:40workout.
- 35:40I just didn't strategize
- 35:42them how I should.
- 35:43And like the rope climb event,
- 35:45I should have had a different strategy.
- 35:46So it didn't go great,
- 35:48but that's what kind of
- 35:49gives me peace going into this year.
- 35:52I know what games training
- 35:53entails to do well last year,
- 35:55and I'm doing the same
- 35:57thing to prepare for the games.
- 35:58So it's like, yeah, I got third.
- 36:00I would have wanted first,
- 36:01but I wasn't even training
- 36:03Saturdays to prepare for semis.
- 36:05Now I'm training Saturdays,
- 36:06and I'm upping everything I need to.
- 36:10So what data did you take
- 36:14from semis that you needed
- 36:16to incorporate in your own programming?
- 36:18Yeah.
- 36:19One thing that's great.
- 36:20I do have a strength
- 36:20programmer named Brian.
- 36:22So he'll watch the semifinals and be like,
- 36:25okay, your grip fatigue is weak.
- 36:27You're pulling fatigue is weak.
- 36:28So he does the muscle side of it for me.
- 36:32And that's what I'm working
- 36:33on in my strength cycles this time.
- 36:35As far as cardio goes,
- 36:38I look at like what held me back.
- 36:41Was it the bike or was it
- 36:43the box jump over technique
- 36:45and try and just improve
- 36:46those going forward.
- 36:47But for me,
- 36:48I always just try and focus
- 36:49on like getting my heart rate to be fast.
- 36:52Cause there's so many little
- 36:53things that I feel like
- 36:54people overcomplicate and it's like, okay,
- 36:57if I'm working out every day,
- 36:58I lay on the floor exhausted after it.
- 37:02It's a good day.
- 37:03Don't overcomplicate it.
- 37:04So for me,
- 37:05it's just always trying to
- 37:06improve the cardio.
- 37:10we're friends.
- 37:10I'm just going to say it outright.
- 37:12You had, you had some really good workouts,
- 37:13right?
- 37:14You wanted to work out.
- 37:14You came in second,
- 37:16but the biggest surprise
- 37:18for me was a snatch ladder.
- 37:19Yeah.
- 37:20That one was bad.
- 37:21Wasn't it?
- 37:21Yeah.
- 37:23Yeah.
- 37:23And I'm,
- 37:27I know I'm stronger and I know I'm
- 37:29capable, but on that workout,
- 37:30my back was on fire.
- 37:33I don't know if it was like
- 37:34hinging too much or standing them up,
- 37:37leaning a little bit forward or,
- 37:39but it got to where on the 155, 165, 175,
- 37:43I just had to stand there
- 37:44and like lean back,
- 37:46stretch out my back because I'm like,
- 37:48I'm capable to pick this up,
- 37:50but my back hurts.
- 37:52Not a pain, like an injury,
- 37:55but just like I had done
- 37:565,000 deadlifts and my back
- 37:58was just screaming at me.
- 38:00So yeah, that one surprised me too.
- 38:02And I mentioned that to my strength coach.
- 38:04So we're working on building
- 38:05up the lower back.
- 38:06But that definitely surprised me,
- 38:08that event.
- 38:10Yeah.
- 38:12As someone who's watched you
- 38:13pretty much the whole
- 38:15second half of your career,
- 38:15I was surprised.
- 38:17Yeah, same.
- 38:21You're good.
- 38:23Yeah.
- 38:23And that's why I was like, hey,
- 38:24it was one event.
- 38:27Shake it off.
- 38:28This is something about this
- 38:29was a weakness.
- 38:30I personally don't know,
- 38:31but my strength guy is
- 38:32smart enough to know.
- 38:33So he's trying to help me
- 38:35fix that with a few things.
- 38:36is there something mental
- 38:37you can take from that,
- 38:38that you had to like,
- 38:40you had to dial in just to,
- 38:42to survive that one?
- 38:44Yeah.
- 38:45I think it's just perspective.
- 38:47Like at the end of that workout,
- 38:49I was like, man,
- 38:50that in my opinion was the
- 38:51best I could do,
- 38:53but I don't feel like it's my best,
- 38:55but I'm healthy.
- 38:56Nothing hurts.
- 38:57I can walk away from it.
- 38:59I'm still in a qualifying
- 39:00position for the games.
- 39:02Who cares?
- 39:04I'm going to finish up with
- 39:05a chat question.
- 39:06Let's say Milano,
- 39:08which workout do you think
- 39:09you would have benefited from practice?
- 39:12The rope climb workout.
- 39:15That one ate me up.
- 39:16Unfortunately, I, I didn't go to a,
- 39:20to a jam with a taller rope.
- 39:22So I didn't even practice 15
- 39:23foot rope climb since the
- 39:25games last year.
- 39:25So that's my own fault.
- 39:27I didn't practice like the
- 39:29bike to a taller rope climb transition.
- 39:32And then like 10 seconds
- 39:33before stepping on the floor,
- 39:35I changed my box jump over technique.
- 39:37So just like a bunch of rookie mistakes.
- 39:40And then I ripped my pants
- 39:42round three of seven.
- 39:44So I had to change the way I came down.
- 39:45So we're just a lot of
- 39:47things that should have gone better.
- 39:49If I would have practiced it,
- 39:50I probably would have learned.
- 39:52But at the end of the day, I'm like,
- 39:54it's semifinals.
- 39:55I'm confident enough.
- 39:56I'm going to qualify.
- 39:57I don't have to show the
- 39:58world that I can get first
- 39:59place at semifinals and
- 40:01Nobody cares.
- 40:02Nobody's going to remember.
- 40:03And they're going to remember the games.
- 40:05Yeah.
- 40:06The drama is all at the cut line.
- 40:07Yeah, exactly.
- 40:09Right.
- 40:09Yeah.
- 40:09So nobody's like,
- 40:11it's even hard to remember
- 40:12where you finished other than like,
- 40:14if you were six, seventh and eighth.
- 40:16Exactly.
- 40:17Even at the games,
- 40:18if I'm looking at the games,
- 40:19like who got fifth through 10th last year,
- 40:24nobody really knows the order.
- 40:25So I'm trying to like
- 40:26mentally tell myself,
- 40:29it doesn't really matter.
- 40:30Top 10 of the games is great,
- 40:31but all they say is top 10, you know,
- 40:34I know Dylan watches everything.
- 40:37Yeah, he does.
- 40:39Do you see the rankings?
- 40:40Do you see the, like the spin pole?
- 40:42Do you, you know, I was really into it.
- 40:46I would say the first two years of my,
- 40:49my career, um,
- 40:51But we've noticed that it's
- 40:54people with no degrees, no statistics,
- 40:58no data.
- 40:59It's just their opinion
- 41:00based on their gut feeling.
- 41:02So we just kind of were sick
- 41:04of this one person had a
- 41:06gut feeling I was going to get 10th.
- 41:08And then I got third at the games.
- 41:10And we're like, okay,
- 41:11this person doesn't even
- 41:11know what they're talking about.
- 41:12They don't see what I train.
- 41:13They don't do this.
- 41:14So it got to where it would be like,
- 41:16put some respect on our name.
- 41:17What the heck?
- 41:18We're like, you know what?
- 41:20These people are,
- 41:21they're just talking to talk,
- 41:23to have something to talk about.
- 41:24So we actually,
- 41:25this year have not paid
- 41:26attention to them at all.
- 41:29I think that's,
- 41:29that's a good evolution in your career.
- 41:32Yeah.
- 41:33You know,
- 41:33it kind of stinks because I'm like, man,
- 41:36I did so good last year and
- 41:38it's still not enough to
- 41:40have respect of my name to
- 41:41be placed up there, you know?
- 41:44So I'm like, no,
- 41:45we know what we did last year.
- 41:46We don't need to listen to them.
- 41:48It's funny because when I look at it, one,
- 41:51there's the,
- 41:52the sport is getting so
- 41:54congested with great athletes.
- 41:56Right.
- 41:57Right.
- 41:58So really you're,
- 41:59you're taking a dart and
- 42:00throwing a dartboard for some of this.
- 42:03Right.
- 42:03But my view is like,
- 42:05you deserve to be in the
- 42:06top five till you're not in the top five.
- 42:09Yeah.
- 42:09And then you read, we go from there.
- 42:11Yeah.
- 42:14Like you were there last year.
- 42:15You deserve to be there.
- 42:18Alex hasn't as only ever beat you at semi.
- 42:21So I don't think she deserves to jump you.
- 42:24And so like, that's how I,
- 42:25I start breaking things down.
- 42:28Right.
- 42:29A lot of people take one event,
- 42:30like don't look at semis
- 42:32and change their whole 25.
- 42:34Exactly.
- 42:36When really,
- 42:38you know where the real work is,
- 42:40but you also,
- 42:41you gotta be able to back it up.
- 42:42I could say all this stuff all day,
- 42:44but I can't back it up.
- 42:46It means nothing.
- 42:52Larry Young has it just right.
- 42:53Without knowing the events,
- 42:54it's all a guess anyway.
- 42:56Yeah, exactly.
- 42:58And I mean, honestly,
- 43:00you don't know who's
- 43:00showing up healthy or sick or injured.
- 43:03I feel like that has to play
- 43:05a factor as well.
- 43:07I'm going to finish this
- 43:08just with one little jab at
- 43:09CrossFit Media.
- 43:11Wad Zombie said it perfectly.
- 43:12Here we go.
- 43:15That's why I'm upset they
- 43:16didn't put Ariel on the
- 43:17ESPN poster they put up today.
- 43:20She's from Texas.
- 43:22I know stuff like that.
- 43:24I do see.
- 43:25And I 100% thought the same thing,
- 43:27but I can't dwell on it.
- 43:29It's like, okay,
- 43:29maybe one day I'll get some respect.
- 43:31Maybe, you know,
- 43:32but it's like at the end of the day,
- 43:33it doesn't matter.
- 43:34But yeah, Texas podium.
- 43:37Fittest American woman.
- 43:39Yeah.
- 43:40Come on.
- 43:42Right.
- 43:42But at the end of the day, Dylan knows.
- 43:45And that's all that matters.
- 43:46Like if I have to think of my family unit,
- 43:49Blakely could care less.
- 43:50Me and Dylan know what happened last year.
- 43:54I do too.
- 43:55I'm a big fan.
- 43:56You do too.
- 43:56Remember,
- 43:57we even talked about it last year
- 43:58before the games.
- 44:00Well, with that,
- 44:02I will now end this 13
- 44:03minutes later than I anticipated,
- 44:05or 14 minutes later than I anticipated.
- 44:07With that,
- 44:08we will let you get back to your day.
- 44:10Thank you, everybody, for joining in.
- 44:12You guys are the best.
- 44:13Arrow, you're the best.
- 44:14We'll see everybody next
- 44:15time on the Clydesdale Media Podcast.
- 44:18Bye, guys.
- 44:18Thanks for having me.
