- 0:00Speaker 1: Boutleg Cap podcast special guest, one of my favorites, been
- 0:05Speaker 1: waiting on his album for a very long time, about
- 0:08Speaker 1: three and a half years twenty nineteen ish. Bet that
- 0:12Speaker 1: bet that RJ's here, mister La welcome man. How you
- 0:18Speaker 1: how you feeling now that you got this body of
- 0:19Speaker 1: work finally into the world. I know you've been working
- 0:21Speaker 1: on it for a long time. With it, I do,
- 0:25Speaker 1: I think you know what's crazy? I feel like that
- 0:26Speaker 1: you're the most consistent outside of Kendrick because we got
- 0:31Speaker 1: to give it up to KTA, But I feel like
- 0:32Speaker 1: consistency when I know you drop. I just know that
- 0:36Speaker 1: there's a certain level of quality that comes with RJ.
- 0:38Speaker 1: You think he's with I think Kendrick's fucking with everybody.
- 0:42Speaker 1: So that's you know, just to be I mean, I'm
- 0:43Speaker 1: doing me a lot of you. I'm honesty. I just think,
- 0:46Speaker 1: like when I think of like the City, I'm like, yo,
- 0:48Speaker 1: I just know I'm getting quality of music from RJ,
- 0:50Speaker 1: every fucking go, timeless music. And I think you're the
- 0:54Speaker 1: best performer. Uh, I think you're top five performer in
- 0:57Speaker 1: hip hop to be honest, hip hop. Yeah, when I
- 0:59Speaker 1: see you performed, bro, I saw you at the Real
- 1:02Speaker 1: Street Fest which is like twenty nineteen as well, when
- 1:05Speaker 1: we had our Real ninety two three festival you performed
- 1:08Speaker 1: at and I was just like in owe, bro, Yeah,
- 1:11Speaker 1: could you be fucking you be popping and locking and shitah,
- 1:15Speaker 1: you got every movement that it reminded me of like
- 1:17Speaker 1: early Tech nine, Like when I used to see Tech
- 1:19Speaker 1: nine when I was a kid. Shout out to Tech
- 1:20Speaker 1: nine is another one of the greats. Tech would have
- 1:23Speaker 1: like a movement for every fucking like bar and I
- 1:25Speaker 1: feel like you're kind of similar you are you high
- 1:29Speaker 1: right now? No, it's really the beats that that tell
- 1:33Speaker 1: the story. Yeah, the other song of the movements, you know,
- 1:37Speaker 1: the beats be so you know, like like you know
- 1:41Speaker 1: it like yeah, you know what I'm saying. My beats
- 1:45Speaker 1: really hit. How especially on stage, I was gonna say,
- 1:49Speaker 1: how like you inspired your like performance game or did
- 1:54Speaker 1: you just figure that shit out on your own? I'm
- 1:56Speaker 1: a students another game? Yeamn. When I was coming know,
- 2:00Speaker 1: we used to watch a lot of a lot of
- 2:02Speaker 1: artists perform. Yeah, one artists in particular was his Buster Rons.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Of course, he made an announcement, you know, I said,
- 2:13Speaker 1: artists need to start performing. Yep, and I took heat
- 2:19Speaker 1: and I started studying performers, and uh, I just developed
- 2:24Speaker 1: my own style. That's smart. And Bust is one of
- 2:27Speaker 1: those ones. Man him and Spliff Star. You've seen him
- 2:30Speaker 1: live in person for fucking fire. Yeah yeah, yeah, Busters
- 2:36Speaker 1: will go for sure. They just they just did. Uh
- 2:39Speaker 1: wheveryday at l A was a Hollywood ball with nas
- 2:41Speaker 1: was nas Buster Wu Tang clan. Yeah, shout out the bus,
- 2:45Speaker 1: shout out kids though, because he spoke on him. He's
- 2:48Speaker 1: a great performance too, amazing. Yeah did you go to
- 2:51Speaker 1: the uh the the tour? I mean he had like
- 2:54Speaker 1: seven days in LA. It was good. It was dope.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Kendrick is also one of those guys that can captivate
- 3:01Speaker 1: a crowd without, you know, I think some people mistake
- 3:05Speaker 1: screaming and jumping into a mosh pit and crowdsurfing and
- 3:09Speaker 1: like just doing wild shit on stage with like good
- 3:11Speaker 1: performing and like sure sometimes that goes over well, but
- 3:15Speaker 1: I think like your breath control, how you sound, like
- 3:20Speaker 1: how captivating you are without doing all the crazy antics
- 3:23Speaker 1: on stage, to me is like very more. It's more
- 3:28Speaker 1: important because like anybody can like throw shit and CrowdSurf
- 3:32Speaker 1: and yeah, I'll be looking at that like that's cool. Yeah,
- 3:37Speaker 1: it's like cool. It's like cool if you can't perform
- 3:39Speaker 1: and you're like wrapping over your fucking track, all right,
- 3:41Speaker 1: it's cool. Yeah, you're wrapping over your two track, but
- 3:46Speaker 1: you fucking jumped off of a speaker and you know,
- 3:48Speaker 1: sprang your ankle, So everyone's like, Yo, you're a god bro,
- 3:53Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Yeah, Yo, the album is dope, though,
- 3:56Speaker 1: Man than you, I really I love the Tie record.
- 4:00Speaker 1: OT record is just super flagrantly fucking disrespectful without love.
- 4:05Speaker 1: It was like a classic You got just a classic
- 4:07Speaker 1: OT moment. Ye shout out my brother man OT shot out.
- 4:11Speaker 1: What did he rhyme Vagina with on the song China,
- 4:14Speaker 1: China and Vagina. Listen any song in which they rhyme
- 4:21Speaker 1: China with vagina? It's amazing. Pelo has a song too short.
- 4:26Speaker 1: He was talking about how to make a girl make
- 4:28Speaker 1: money off of her pe hole, and I was like,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I love that China Vagina. Love it? Yeah, you guys,
- 4:36Speaker 1: it sucks. So it's crazy because like I feel like
- 4:41Speaker 1: somehow throughout the pandemic, I know the club scene is
- 4:45Speaker 1: popping in l A again, But I feel like we
- 4:47Speaker 1: kind of lost Like I kind of missed Playhouse. Does
- 4:51Speaker 1: that make sense? We gotta understand a lot of the
- 4:54Speaker 1: money left with the that pandemic. I just feel like,
- 4:57Speaker 1: so it's not a lot of but I'm still like poppy.
- 4:59Speaker 1: There's I feel like, you know, there's still spots like
- 5:01Speaker 1: the LA function is though, like obviously Penthouse, but I
- 5:06Speaker 1: just like I missed Playhouse. I feel like Playhouse was
- 5:09Speaker 1: like the spot where like you could go and like
- 5:12Speaker 1: you could really have a temperature on what LA sounds
- 5:14Speaker 1: like at the time. Well, like you know, one of
- 5:18Speaker 1: the people who's in charge of a playoffs is that Dragonfly. Now,
- 5:21Speaker 1: so I haven't missed it. I still got shit going on.
- 5:25Speaker 1: It's just relocated. Yeah. So I'm the type of person
- 5:29Speaker 1: since the pandemic, I've just decided I'm not going outside
- 5:33Speaker 1: unless I'm getting paid or unless it's some ship where
- 5:35Speaker 1: I'm like it's the homie, I gotta go support. I'll
- 5:38Speaker 1: be fucking tired, broke. I'm with the kids. I'm telling
- 5:42Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. How many songs like did
- 5:45Speaker 1: you pull from for this project? Like, I know you've
- 5:47Speaker 1: been recording for three years now, you know so was there, like,
- 5:51Speaker 1: how many songs didn't make the album? Steven? Was there?
- 5:58Speaker 1: I got a lot of songs, a lot, Yeah, it was,
- 6:01Speaker 1: it was there. Okay, four songs from the entire like
- 6:06Speaker 1: three years, it's what I have, you know, that stayed
- 6:11Speaker 1: on the album. And then the rest we was in
- 6:14Speaker 1: this record plant for ten days. I think we recorded
- 6:18Speaker 1: like probably like seventy five of the project. Yeah, like
- 6:21Speaker 1: thirty songs or something like that. Shit. So there's four
- 6:26Speaker 1: records on here that are older in terms of just
- 6:29Speaker 1: the timeline of when you started recording in since the
- 6:32Speaker 1: last album. Yeah, everything else you knocked out in that
- 6:34Speaker 1: ten day period. Correct. Wow. Do you feel like you
- 6:38Speaker 1: ever become a victim of demo ititis? Where? Yeah, Because
- 6:43Speaker 1: like artists will have songs where everybody will hear them,
- 6:46Speaker 1: they're like, Yo, that's a fucking hit. But you listen
- 6:48Speaker 1: to your own ship and your cruise, listening to your
- 6:50Speaker 1: own shit so much that you it gets played out
- 6:52Speaker 1: to you. Well, not good songs are good songs, but
- 7:00Speaker 1: more so when the songs are being mastered, we get
- 7:05Speaker 1: demo artists and we could just be like, nah, it
- 7:09Speaker 1: needs to sound like the demo true, or if like
- 7:12Speaker 1: you the engineer, Like the engineer would be like, you know,
- 7:17Speaker 1: cleaning it up, making it clean. But we like the
- 7:19Speaker 1: rough We like the raw material. It happens a lot,
- 7:23Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. We like how it sound rough,
- 7:25Speaker 1: but we just clean it up. Even if I give
- 7:27Speaker 1: away to much sauce. No, that's a lot of that's
- 7:30Speaker 1: real sauce right there. I mean, I have an artist
- 7:31Speaker 1: and we're just going through this album and there was
- 7:33Speaker 1: like some shit got moved around like and I was like, yeah, nah,
- 7:37Speaker 1: that's that's not how I know it to be, you
- 7:40Speaker 1: know what I mean. Especially I think that should be
- 7:42Speaker 1: happening too, when like there's like a demo hook cut
- 7:44Speaker 1: on someone's record and you have the demo version for
- 7:47Speaker 1: so long, but so long, and then then the big
- 7:50Speaker 1: artist gets on it and you're like, man, I don't know, yeah,
- 7:54Speaker 1: well the big artists that got on these records, well
- 7:57Speaker 1: all right. The Funny Ship we had a record that
- 7:59Speaker 1: we did. We had two records that we did with
- 8:01Speaker 1: tar in the same day, and we just picked. We
- 8:06Speaker 1: picked the one that we went with the special Delivery.
- 8:09Speaker 1: That shit was like that shit was though both of
- 8:12Speaker 1: them is fire. So what happens to the other one. Man,
- 8:15Speaker 1: It's just this goes in the vault. You guys are like, uh,
- 8:18Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I'd be like, yo, I
- 8:19Speaker 1: want both. Yeah, if he wanted, he could have it,
- 8:22Speaker 1: though I'm not stingy put it under the deluxe when
- 8:24Speaker 1: it comes to tar Are you gonna do it lux?
- 8:28Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, it's kind of like mundane to me. Yeah,
- 8:32Speaker 1: everybody doing the Deluxes and shit like that. I'd rather
- 8:35Speaker 1: just do a whole other project. I love that. Just
- 8:39Speaker 1: don't make us wait three years. Nah, I'm back in
- 8:41Speaker 1: the in the bag now. I'm back in that emotion.
- 8:43Speaker 1: So pretty much want to put out a lot of content.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I don't want to oversaturate it, but I want to
- 8:49Speaker 1: put out a lot of great content because you know,
- 8:52Speaker 1: tomorrow's my promise. So facts, how many music videos do
- 8:55Speaker 1: you have in the can right now? Mm hm? We
- 8:58Speaker 1: pretty much go with the flow videos. You kind of
- 9:01Speaker 1: just let the fans tell you which which joins to shoot.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I respect that. That's smart. Obviously, you've had a great
- 9:09Speaker 1: relationship with Thug over time. Shout out to Young Doug
- 9:13Speaker 1: free Man, Free slim Man, Free Free Dope, Free, Slan,
- 9:17Speaker 1: Freak Gunner, Freedom, gods Man, Free, I Sail for Real,
- 9:21Speaker 1: for real. He was on the last album, right, Yeah,
- 9:25Speaker 1: you guys shout the video and everything. He's somebody who
- 9:28Speaker 1: I feel like super tapped in with your movement. I
- 9:33Speaker 1: always hear just about how great of a guy he is, Like,
- 9:36Speaker 1: he's very generous. How did you guys initially link up?
- 9:42Speaker 1: We I'll perform. He was like, who's at He already
- 9:47Speaker 1: knew who I was. He told me, he told me
- 9:48Speaker 1: he already knewho I was. Also, you opened up on
- 9:51Speaker 1: tour for him. Correct, it was you him and m
- 9:53Speaker 1: g K. Correct. That was before I met him. Just
- 9:56Speaker 1: after I met him, know right right right For people
- 9:58Speaker 1: who don't know your guys' full history. Yeah, I met
- 10:00Speaker 1: him at Le Jardon. He was at La Jardan. They
- 10:04Speaker 1: told me to pull up. I pulled up. I performed, Man,
- 10:08Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I blew everybody away, per usual,
- 10:12Speaker 1: and we you know, shook hands, turned up after that,
- 10:18Speaker 1: and then it was cool after that, and then I
- 10:21Speaker 1: met him again, got reacquainted with Jomoses. I was, you know,
- 10:25Speaker 1: sliding around with Jomoses, Jomoses the Future et cetera. And
- 10:28Speaker 1: you know that's the team Birder and all them that,
- 10:31Speaker 1: you know what I mean with the Slanes boom. And
- 10:34Speaker 1: then as soon as I went to the studio, he
- 10:36Speaker 1: just like you trying to record and then that's history
- 10:42Speaker 1: and we just went from there and then put me
- 10:44Speaker 1: on the tour. I went crazy. Was the every conversation
- 10:48Speaker 1: that have you maybe come over to white self. Nah.
- 10:52Speaker 1: He just always try to push my career forward, and
- 10:57Speaker 1: that advised me to do, you know, make proper steps
- 11:01Speaker 1: and proper moves and shit. Things that work for him,
- 11:04Speaker 1: things that don't work, you know, and just you know,
- 11:07Speaker 1: blessed niggas with gang, I respect that a lot of
- 11:11Speaker 1: our almost will only do that if they have the
- 11:13Speaker 1: motive of trying to get you under their label at
- 11:15Speaker 1: the end of the day, you know what I'm saying,
- 11:16Speaker 1: the fact he does he did that like from a
- 11:18Speaker 1: selfless point of view. So so I'll pick up on
- 11:21Speaker 1: that too. Like I tell the people I'm with you
- 11:25Speaker 1: an gotta sign to me. Yeah, I would love you
- 11:27Speaker 1: to sign with me if you're great, if you're a
- 11:29Speaker 1: great talent, but they don't have to sign with me.
- 11:31Speaker 1: It's just really a whoile being under an umbrella and
- 11:34Speaker 1: you know, fucking with the squad and on that we
- 11:36Speaker 1: family and we got your you know what I'm saying,
- 11:38Speaker 1: got your back. Fully, Hey, what up, y'all? Boolet keV

- 12:59Speaker 1: He's dope. That had to be. That's a fucking crazy
- 13:01Speaker 1: tour if we just think about the historical context of
- 13:03Speaker 1: an r J MGK Young Thug tour. So was that
- 13:06Speaker 1: twenty nineteen? So yeah, what I'm saying, Yeah, that was real, dope.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It was fun. You know, we got into a lot. Yeah,
- 13:15Speaker 1: you know, he's a wild boy. I mean, I know
- 13:17Speaker 1: he has a song called Another that wa ain't gettingto
- 13:19Speaker 1: nothing too bad, ship like that. Like it's just typical
- 13:22Speaker 1: tour ship, right, getting sucked up, going to different city,
- 13:25Speaker 1: going to different stage, you know, being on the road
- 13:28Speaker 1: and you know, and you know ship missing home things
- 13:32Speaker 1: like that. It's regular, you know, just turning up shit
- 13:34Speaker 1: just given our full energy, you know what I'm saying,
- 13:38Speaker 1: given one hundred and thirty two percent every city in
- 13:40Speaker 1: every state. So that's pretty much what it'd be like.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Talk to me about who is on the label? Oh amo,
- 13:49Speaker 1: who's under the ameo and bro see they off top.
- 13:53Speaker 1: He's been here before, so uh precrder three card stuff recorder?
- 14:00Speaker 1: That your lady or my mother of my children baby mama? Okay, yeah, okay,
- 14:06Speaker 1: mother of my children. You're you're a mother of your children? Yes, yes, okay,
- 14:11Speaker 1: so she's she's on there. She was on the Jeezy
- 14:16Speaker 1: record too, right, correct, Mike Wayne Coppy Poppy Uh splack.
- 14:24Speaker 1: We got another artist named Melody Melody Baby. Uh. He's
- 14:28Speaker 1: an Egyptian and he just type got a dope as voice,
- 14:34Speaker 1: got producers. That's just under the umbrella, you know. Harry
- 14:40Speaker 1: j m hm uh uh, my boy man, we got
- 14:47Speaker 1: him eighty nine with us, my boy Freddie Ruger and
- 14:55Speaker 1: we just you know, we're just flooding. Is there anything
- 14:58Speaker 1: you learned because you had obviously league being under the
- 15:01Speaker 1: ten suming I want to shout out GFO to g
- 15:03Speaker 1: FO young Cat to shruy g for yeah, fuck you
- 15:07Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, that's just family. I'm just speaking
- 15:09Speaker 1: on people that just a lot of times I speak
- 15:12Speaker 1: on just family and knowing that I you know, I
- 15:14Speaker 1: want to, you know, share my platform. Why not you
- 15:17Speaker 1: feel me what you should do? Yeah, I'm not that
- 15:19Speaker 1: type of person where you just like, if you ain't
- 15:21Speaker 1: signing to me, I'm not fucking with you, no right
- 15:23Speaker 1: type shit. I was gonna say, what did you learn
- 15:26Speaker 1: from the ten summer situation that you're applying to AMEO?
- 15:32Speaker 1: Because Mustard obviously is a fucking boss. You know what
- 15:36Speaker 1: I'm saying. You guys put out some timeless music together.
- 15:39Speaker 1: So was there anything you learned from that experience that
- 15:43Speaker 1: you're applying to your own imprint? Now? Yeah, for sure,
- 15:47Speaker 1: I learned a lot from myself. I learned, you know,
- 15:50Speaker 1: first hand, on how to deal with you know, situations,
- 15:54Speaker 1: and you feel me even being involved with you know
- 15:57Speaker 1: what I'm saying, who you involved with? It's just like
- 16:00Speaker 1: you know always you know what I mean, do your
- 16:03Speaker 1: you know what I mean, keep your best foot forward.
- 16:05Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I wouldn't be in the
- 16:07Speaker 1: game if it wasn't for usf me, he took a
- 16:13Speaker 1: he single handedly took me under his wing and you know,
- 16:17Speaker 1: shine shine a lot of light on you know what
- 16:19Speaker 1: I'm saying, and learned like the business too. You feel
- 16:22Speaker 1: me being on your being on your boss standing on business.
- 16:26Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. Shit like that. It's real, dope.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Oh a lot to him and every chance I give
- 16:32Speaker 1: you know, I speak to you. But you know what
- 16:35Speaker 1: I'm saying. That's why, you know, being independent, it's like
- 16:40Speaker 1: it's kind of like easy for me. Not easy because
- 16:43Speaker 1: it's a lot of weight on our shoulders and shit
- 16:44Speaker 1: like that. But you know, being independent, you know, we
- 16:48Speaker 1: try to like, you know, tackle certain certain mainstream tactics.
- 16:55Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, right, take certain mainstream tactics
- 16:58Speaker 1: and you know, go with the floor. You know, shit
- 17:00Speaker 1: like that, you know, because you know, being independent, like
- 17:03Speaker 1: you gotta do more of the work on the business work. Yeah,
- 17:10Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. It's a lot more work,
- 17:12Speaker 1: it's a lot more tedious, but it's a lot more rewarding.
- 17:16Speaker 1: The payoff is worth it, yeah for sure. Because this
- 17:18Speaker 1: is your second album since I guess leaving the Innerscope ship, right, yes, yeah,
- 17:26Speaker 1: Actually my first album was my first album period on
- 17:33Speaker 1: God was my first album period. I was when I
- 17:36Speaker 1: was signed. I was only signed for uh two mixtapes,
- 17:40Speaker 1: which was to those two projects, which was Mister La
- 17:44Speaker 1: and the Ghetto. Everything else was ameo. Those were independent
- 17:49Speaker 1: early those are yeah, those are independent release records. Yeah,
- 17:52Speaker 1: you feel me, so those ameo records is what you know.
- 17:57Speaker 1: We have titles too, that's amazing, which keeps us afloat
- 18:01Speaker 1: and keeps us going. I mean, you got some fucking classics, man, yea,
- 18:05Speaker 1: some real classics. More well, a little bit above a float,
- 18:08Speaker 1: but yes, that's fair. Uh. You know what I appreciate
- 18:13Speaker 1: about you is like one of the early things that
- 18:15Speaker 1: had happened in La when I first moved out here
- 18:18Speaker 1: was you and Grido did the first versus Correct, definitely,
- 18:22Speaker 1: the first versus It was at the Novo Correct and
- 18:27Speaker 1: the Observers. I guess you guys did do too. The
- 18:30Speaker 1: first one was at the Novo though, right, the first
- 18:32Speaker 1: one was Observe. Oh see, the first one. They thought
- 18:35Speaker 1: everybody was gonna die. Yeah. I mean I remember talking
- 18:39Speaker 1: to Head and He's like, I'm not gonna be there,
- 18:41Speaker 1: and I was like we should go, Like you know
- 18:43Speaker 1: what I'm gonna listen to anything LA related. I just
- 18:45Speaker 1: listened to head on. I'm like, you know what, you're right,
- 18:47Speaker 1: head And it was a success. But it was so
- 18:50Speaker 1: dope because I remember y'all going back and forth online
- 18:53Speaker 1: and then you guys had this fucking incredible event where
- 18:56Speaker 1: everybody was on stage and it just felt like, wow,
- 19:00Speaker 1: this is like, this is like history. Low key for sure,
- 19:03Speaker 1: it was basically like you know, it was what Gucci
- 19:08Speaker 1: and Jeezy did, but we did it because our ship
- 19:12Speaker 1: was more like in the in the in the in
- 19:15Speaker 1: the moment. It was in the moment. That's what made
- 19:17Speaker 1: it different for sure. And the fact that there was
- 19:19Speaker 1: no incidents is amazing. Yeah, for sure. Did you guys
- 19:25Speaker 1: talk like before it went down, like, was there like
- 19:28Speaker 1: a low meet up backstage? We will keep it respectful,
- 19:30Speaker 1: we will make sure. No, we didn't know what was
- 19:32Speaker 1: gonna happen. What the fuck I was gonna whoop it ad?
- 19:35Speaker 1: It was just organized chaos. But then we just like
- 19:38Speaker 1: you know, kept it cool and I just playing. We
- 19:40Speaker 1: talked about it, Yeah, we talked about it on the
- 19:43Speaker 1: phone because it got out of hand. It got out
- 19:45Speaker 1: of hand on the like on the internet, the internet,
- 19:49Speaker 1: you know, always blows things over portion, and you know,
- 19:52Speaker 1: when you don't have communication, you know, it up the nation.
- 19:55Speaker 1: So you know, we talked about we uh shout out,
- 20:00Speaker 1: Well no oh nos is also an artist. My fault,
- 20:02Speaker 1: excuse my fault, my fault. Little enough that he's also
- 20:05Speaker 1: an artist for Ameo. But you know he's always been around,
- 20:10Speaker 1: you know know, but him and Mafia Horn they got involved,
- 20:16Speaker 1: and you know they Mafia Horn talked to Grito Knows
- 20:20Speaker 1: to talk to me, and we got on the phone.
- 20:22Speaker 1: And when we got on the phone, it was like,
- 20:24Speaker 1: you know, it was it was like that, you know
- 20:26Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Initially, yeah, but you know, they talk
- 20:31Speaker 1: to us, talk some sense into us. And then you
- 20:34Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, we carry out the show and
- 20:36Speaker 1: kept it going because it's really bigger than us. Yeah,
- 20:39Speaker 1: And sometimes, you know, being in the moment, you don't
- 20:42Speaker 1: understand that. Sometimes, being in the beef, you don't understand
- 20:45Speaker 1: that it's bigger than you. You got the focus right now,
- 20:49Speaker 1: people on you. Right now. They're perpetuating this beef, they
- 20:52Speaker 1: perpetuating it and making it blow up. But it's bigger
- 20:55Speaker 1: than you. You know, it's more about a whole you
- 20:59Speaker 1: feel me in what both of y'all represent, and it
- 21:03Speaker 1: could be detrimental. So like, sometimes you gotta rise above
- 21:07Speaker 1: yourself and rise above the situation and really like see
- 21:10Speaker 1: yourself above it and see the whole game and look
- 21:13Speaker 1: at yourself from a bird's off view, and you know,
- 21:16Speaker 1: then moved up, move accordingly. You know what I'm saying.
- 21:20Speaker 1: So that's what we did. We just seen ourselves birds
- 21:24Speaker 1: off view and moved accordingly. And we made money off
- 21:27Speaker 1: that shit. That was like my first fifty thousand dollars show. Wow,
- 21:31Speaker 1: no cap, get me fifty bands off the show? I
- 21:34Speaker 1: did shit. Shout out to you. What's a good fucking
- 21:38Speaker 1: day the show, that's a great day. What show was
- 21:41Speaker 1: at the Novo and we had two of them. Jesus

- 22:52Speaker 1: back to the interview you mentioned. Stepping outs is so
- 22:55Speaker 1: hard for people to remove themselves from their own situation
- 22:58Speaker 1: and try to look at it from like an ouse
- 23:00Speaker 1: point of view. Yeah. So I got on my side though, too,
- 23:03Speaker 1: and I got good people around me. Don't want to
- 23:06Speaker 1: see me win because they know if I win, they win. Yes,
- 23:10Speaker 1: I feel like it's it's uh, you know, that's part
- 23:13Speaker 1: of growing up to man like you because you're always
- 23:15Speaker 1: gonna have like a biased opinion on what's going on
- 23:17Speaker 1: because you're in it. But if you could just look
- 23:19Speaker 1: at it from like how it looks at from the outside,
- 23:22Speaker 1: like you you you know a lot of people make
- 23:24Speaker 1: short sighted decisions because they don't do that correct. Do
- 23:28Speaker 1: you feel like nowadays you're kind of like a big
- 23:32Speaker 1: homie in la, you know what I mean? So do
- 23:35Speaker 1: you find yourself like giving game the artists that you
- 23:37Speaker 1: see that you admire, that you might maybe see fucking
- 23:41Speaker 1: up or moving like a way in which you might
- 23:42Speaker 1: just be able to like, hey, let me give you
- 23:43Speaker 1: some game, real quick type shit all the time? Most
- 23:45Speaker 1: definitely I'll give game a lot. It's just a you know,
- 23:50Speaker 1: I apply it. What is you gonna use it though? Yeah?
- 23:54Speaker 1: Like I might tell you about it, but are you
- 23:56Speaker 1: gonna like listen? Yeah, Like I'm not really into what
- 24:00Speaker 1: it's in my breath because your energy on my energy,
- 24:03Speaker 1: you know, So I sort of picked certain times when
- 24:09Speaker 1: to speak it. Otherwise you're just trying to hear yourself
- 24:12Speaker 1: speak like an old head trying to hear yourself talk,
- 24:16Speaker 1: you know. Sometimes being wise, it's not saying nothing at all,
- 24:19Speaker 1: feel me. So sometimes you just got to pick the win,
- 24:22Speaker 1: the right time to say, the right time to speak.
- 24:24Speaker 1: So I just you know, so like you know, I
- 24:27Speaker 1: pop it a little bit, you know, give my game,
- 24:31Speaker 1: but you know you gotta know how to give it though,
- 24:35Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying when and when exactly, you know,
- 24:39Speaker 1: and being a big homian being like you know these niggas,
- 24:42Speaker 1: some niggas like my little brothers. I get mad too, right,
- 24:46Speaker 1: and I lose sometimes I could lose my cool and
- 24:48Speaker 1: jump out of character too. I'm you know, I'm human too,
- 24:52Speaker 1: So you know, I fuck up, players fuck up. But
- 24:56Speaker 1: at the end of the day, like it's about you know,
- 24:58Speaker 1: recovering and just like you know what, be manning up
- 25:01Speaker 1: and be like, hey, look man, I fucked up. You
- 25:03Speaker 1: know this is how I should have can you know
- 25:06Speaker 1: what I'm saying? So being a big homie like I
- 25:10Speaker 1: have to, you know, I got to take on those
- 25:11Speaker 1: certain roles. When I was younger, it's just like fu
- 25:15Speaker 1: right you feel me, like I don't care like they
- 25:18Speaker 1: got my bad. But now that I'm older, I realize
- 25:21Speaker 1: that people and IM just older, just wiser. I realized
- 25:26Speaker 1: that people have to like like like people have to
- 25:29Speaker 1: understand you can't just be out here popping ship and
- 25:34Speaker 1: you just look like an old head. It's not cool.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Like I know how we use respect you? Yeah, when
- 25:41Speaker 1: people got to respect you if you, like you said,
- 25:44Speaker 1: if you don't always speak, when you do speak, it
- 25:46Speaker 1: carries more weight, true, you know what I mean. And
- 25:49Speaker 1: they also have to like respect you to listen for sure,
- 25:52Speaker 1: you know what I mean. You just can't put put
- 25:54Speaker 1: your arm around some young kid that you just saw
- 25:57Speaker 1: on Instagram be like hey man, you're sucking up bro,
- 25:58Speaker 1: and like fuck out here, bro. Yeah yeah, that's real, yo.
- 26:04Speaker 1: What it's like for you because obviously l A is
- 26:08Speaker 1: you know, you have Like I said, man, you got classics. Bro.
- 26:11Speaker 1: When you look at the metrics, what is your biggest
- 26:13Speaker 1: market outside of the state of California. I don't know.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I think I need to pay more attention to that.
- 26:19Speaker 1: You're gonna put that back in on Spotify, man. Yeah?
- 26:22Speaker 1: What about like when you were on I like last
- 26:26Speaker 1: time you're on tour, did you notice like a random
- 26:28Speaker 1: city where were like, oh, ship, they were really fucking
- 26:30Speaker 1: with me even so and so or whatever. It's hard
- 26:33Speaker 1: to tell because my energy is everyone's with you want
- 26:37Speaker 1: something's done. It's like everybody fu My energy is electrophone. Yeah,
- 26:41Speaker 1: so they fuck with me. It's hard to tell, like
- 26:44Speaker 1: if they knew the words already and my songs are
- 26:48Speaker 1: you know, I know how to tell hooks, I know
- 26:51Speaker 1: how to tell a story. I know how to speak
- 26:53Speaker 1: to the audience, you know, so I can get them
- 26:57Speaker 1: to say what's going on? Because you know, I'm saying
- 27:00Speaker 1: my message is pure. So like it's kind of hard
- 27:05Speaker 1: as far as when I'm performing and touring. But honestly,
- 27:09Speaker 1: I do need to pay more attention to who's what market,
- 27:15Speaker 1: what cities is really fuck with me because I want
- 27:16Speaker 1: to tackle these cities more. You know. I'm in la
- 27:19Speaker 1: Head of course, be out here, you know, trying to
- 27:22Speaker 1: you know, I deal with the same pains that my
- 27:25Speaker 1: homies deal with. I'm not gone, I'm not too far,
- 27:28Speaker 1: I'm not far fetch. I'm you know, I'm here. They
- 27:32Speaker 1: can touch me and shit. So it's kind of like
- 27:34Speaker 1: I deal with the same depths, the same joy, the
- 27:37Speaker 1: same accomplishments, you know what I mean, Like when my
- 27:39Speaker 1: homies is up and they win and I see that
- 27:41Speaker 1: and I feel that you feel me. So I'm just
- 27:44Speaker 1: right here, so I feel like mm hmm, sometimes you
- 27:48Speaker 1: can be trapped. Do you feel like you sometimes you
- 27:52Speaker 1: can get lost in the sauce of l A and
- 27:55Speaker 1: not think of like the country, because I feel like
- 27:59Speaker 1: sometimes I could never be lost in sauce man. Well
- 28:02Speaker 1: you know I don't mean listen, I'm not talking about
- 28:04Speaker 1: from a Gucci man perspective. Can't you could never be lost?
- 28:17Speaker 1: He could, he could have sauce, but he could be
- 28:20Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. If you don't got sauce,
- 28:22Speaker 1: you lost in the sauce. You feel me like, do
- 28:25Speaker 1: you ever feel like do you ever feel like you
- 28:27Speaker 1: know what's going on? Like you you could focus too
- 28:34Speaker 1: much on l A and and let and and at
- 28:37Speaker 1: times let the bigger picture fall by the wayside, because
- 28:39Speaker 1: I do feel like sometimes an l A artists we
- 28:42Speaker 1: see like a ceiling get hit and it's like yo,
- 28:45Speaker 1: we know you're lit from here to Seattle, Arizona, Vegas
- 28:50Speaker 1: sometimes Texas. But like I think sometimes like l A
- 28:55Speaker 1: artists are so like focused on l A that it's
- 28:59Speaker 1: not I'm not even talking about sonically. I just mean,
- 29:01Speaker 1: like you said earlier, like damn, I need to pay
- 29:02Speaker 1: attention more, like you know something that Kaylen did early
- 29:06Speaker 1: on that I loved. Was like he just went out
- 29:08Speaker 1: to Atlanta for like six months. You know, Yeah, he
- 29:10Speaker 1: was out there like he was out there, you know
- 29:11Speaker 1: what I mean. He tapped in with a lot like
- 29:13Speaker 1: I saw that from the jump and I was like, oh,
- 29:15Speaker 1: that's that's something I see a lot of people doing that.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Blue Bucks do that. Yeah, you know he does, you know,
- 29:22Speaker 1: definitely does that. Kaylen of course did that. Another person
- 29:28Speaker 1: who did at Massie did that ship big time. You
- 29:30Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, he did that, But I don't know, bro,
- 29:33Speaker 1: you know ship, I'm having fun. That's all that matters.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Feed your family, feed my family. I'm having fun. I'm
- 29:40Speaker 1: enjoying life. I'll cross those you know what I'm saying
- 29:45Speaker 1: once when I get throw those crossroads. And for sure,
- 29:48Speaker 1: I do need to pay attention to it though, for sure,
- 29:50Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And when I get there,
- 29:52Speaker 1: I'll get there. But right now, I got right here
- 29:55Speaker 1: to deal with. You know, it's people that I have
- 29:58Speaker 1: to deal with. I have to, you know, make sure
- 29:59Speaker 1: they straight. I have to make sure people is saying times.
- 30:03Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. Sometimes when I'm going too long,
- 30:05Speaker 1: you know, shit fucks up, you know what I'm saying,
- 30:08Speaker 1: the ruptures and ship like that. Like so I hold
- 30:10Speaker 1: a lot of shit together and I stand on that
- 30:14Speaker 1: and I could I could you know what I'm saying
- 30:16Speaker 1: if if you know, if see if they blow up
- 30:19Speaker 1: and he gets you know what I'm saying to you know, uh,
- 30:22Speaker 1: New York and all that shit for Shure, that's I'm
- 30:25Speaker 1: a we we We're there, you know. I feel like too,
- 30:27Speaker 1: Like sonically, he's like an artist that I can see
- 30:29Speaker 1: that really happening with right. I feel like he has
- 30:33Speaker 1: that young soul that uh the world needs mm hmm.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I feel like he has that that that hunger that
- 30:42Speaker 1: the world needs to you know what I'm saying experience
- 30:45Speaker 1: for sure. You know what if you had to pick
- 30:49Speaker 1: a song that you can never perform again, what would
- 30:52Speaker 1: be the song you're just kind of tired of performing,
- 30:54Speaker 1: tired of performing? Or is it none? Yeah? I don't know,
- 30:59Speaker 1: because when I came in game, I came you know,
- 31:05Speaker 1: making songs or like which song of yours is the
- 31:07Speaker 1: most played out to you? Yeah, like a song where
- 31:12Speaker 1: you're like, yo, if I never heard this song from
- 31:14Speaker 1: me again, It's fine because I've heard it a million times,
- 31:16Speaker 1: like does it get rich? Is it like or is
- 31:18Speaker 1: it you just like? No? These are like you know,
- 31:20Speaker 1: some artists are like what I'm saying, You got some
- 31:23Speaker 1: fucking huge records and do they get played out to you? No? No, Okay,
- 31:27Speaker 1: I gotta ask. No, it's a complet compliment. I'm trying
- 31:31Speaker 1: to compliment. I appreciate you, my brother. I can talk
- 31:34Speaker 1: to you what you trying to say, Bren. I can
- 31:36Speaker 1: talk to you, you know what I'm saying. I can
- 31:38Speaker 1: be upfront. I can be real with you, you know,
- 31:40Speaker 1: because sometimes you know, question be hitting shit in questions.
- 31:44Speaker 1: You'll hear like I'm like, you'll hear artists be like, yo,
- 31:47Speaker 1: I'm so fucking sick, and like I'm sure Roddy Rich
- 31:50Speaker 1: is tired of the box, you know what I mean?
- 31:51Speaker 1: He has to be. There's no way Roddy's not tired
- 31:54Speaker 1: of the box, at least personally. For me, I'm tired
- 31:57Speaker 1: of the box. And I don't have to perform it.
- 31:59Speaker 1: I don't know, because like people ask me questions like
- 32:01Speaker 1: this all the time, right, and they'd be it'd be
- 32:04Speaker 1: like new people with me, Like it'd probably be a
- 32:06Speaker 1: new security, new bodyguard with me or something like that, right,
- 32:09Speaker 1: or just new people and they'll just be at all
- 32:13Speaker 1: at what's going on, you know, because you know it'd
- 32:16Speaker 1: be fans running up and RJ let me get a
- 32:19Speaker 1: picture random times and shit like that, and they ask
- 32:21Speaker 1: me do we'll ever get tired of that? And it's
- 32:26Speaker 1: like they cannot be running up to me, right, you know,
- 32:31Speaker 1: like I cannot be performing these songs true, you know,
- 32:34Speaker 1: so no, I love these songs. These songs just feed
- 32:38Speaker 1: my family, these songs just making sure my kids grow strong, right,
- 32:43Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I love these songs. When
- 32:45Speaker 1: I came in the game, I came to make songs
- 32:47Speaker 1: that can live on for ten years, you know and beyond.
- 32:51Speaker 1: You know, like that's why my songs are so you know,
- 32:54Speaker 1: deep rooted into your soul, into your bones, because I
- 32:58Speaker 1: do that intentionally. Like I said saying, when I'm in
- 33:01Speaker 1: La like a hole shit together, it's like that shit
- 33:05Speaker 1: is real. It's not just about me, right, you know,
- 33:08Speaker 1: it's a whole Like mister La is somebody for real.
- 33:12Speaker 1: It's not just a name that somebody made up. Oh wait,
- 33:19Speaker 1: what up, y'all? We gotta stop the interview real quick.

- 34:34Speaker 1: of LA. Can't be California. The state of California is

- 34:41Speaker 1: Younger old. It could be anybody yelling give me a
- 34:44Speaker 1: young and and old both all right, go first? Who
- 34:48Speaker 1: what younger old? Young? Young? Boston, Boston rich peace fire,

- 35:49Speaker 1: I just seen him right. Not to be total turned up,
- 35:51Speaker 1: but I'm about another nigga though, But I'm just saying

- 36:35Speaker 1: steal though, but man, steal it, god blood, A lot
- 36:39Speaker 1: of people do that. It's not like Buster Rymes is

- 39:49Speaker 1: that's you. I love this record. I'm like, yeah, for sure,
- 39:52Speaker 1: but things like that I take you know what I'm saying,
- 39:55Speaker 1: and I remember ship like that, and I'll be like, damn,
- 39:57Speaker 1: look around at today. That wasn't the show you try
- 40:00Speaker 1: the crowdsurfing, was it? It might have been bad business decision.
- 40:05Speaker 1: They were just brewing you. They sure gonna catch you.
- 40:09Speaker 1: I think they bowed me after that. After I definitely
- 40:12Speaker 1: have crowdsurfd a bunch and I got dry. Who is

- 45:19Speaker 1: Who do you think? Yeah, no, who's more famous than Snoop?
- 45:23Speaker 1: Nobody Drake's not more famous than Snoop. Jayz's not more
- 45:26Speaker 1: famous than Snoop bro That's a fact. Yeah, Sloop Dogg,
- 45:31Speaker 1: who was bigger peak Snoop. I'm talking about at they're
- 45:35Speaker 1: very at their peak peak Snoop Dogg or peak fifty Snoop.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Don't think it was close close for show, it was close, though, Diamond, Yeah,
- 45:47Speaker 1: I mean get rich of you. I try, and it's
- 45:49Speaker 1: fucking that was a that was a moment that was like,
- 45:52Speaker 1: it's close though. I always say it was those two
- 45:54Speaker 1: at their peak. I'm not talking about overall, I just
- 45:57Speaker 1: mean peak. If you were to take like their top
- 45:59Speaker 1: years and terms of just like who was the hottest,
- 46:01Speaker 1: who had the most energy, it's those two. And then
- 46:03Speaker 1: I think it's like everybody else. I think Wayne shit
- 46:07Speaker 1: was like over time he had to you know what
- 46:09Speaker 1: I mean, Like he had like a cool like eight
- 46:11Speaker 1: was like his peak. Yeah, but it's like controversy sales.
- 46:14Speaker 1: It wasn't fifty though. It was the controversy. And then
- 46:17Speaker 1: you got to think, like Drake was more like thirteen
- 46:20Speaker 1: years in, we're now in the Drake's run and it's
- 46:22Speaker 1: like he's still the top guy. But like I'm not
- 46:24Speaker 1: sure at a certain point in time, like Drake had
- 46:26Speaker 1: more energy than fifty or Snoop, Like track just stood
- 46:32Speaker 1: at the times. So it was just crazy. That's like
- 46:34Speaker 1: never been done before. Yeah, it's crazy. So it was
- 46:37Speaker 1: crazy one of one for sure. Look, man, the new
- 46:39Speaker 1: album is out. The new album's out. Rodney Brown Junior
- 46:45Speaker 1: the streets calling of the classic. I want you to
- 46:47Speaker 1: hear it. I want you to listen to it. And
- 46:50Speaker 1: this press play from beginning to end at least one time. Yeah,
- 46:54Speaker 1: at least at least one time. Don't don't look at
- 46:57Speaker 1: the your artists on there and say, oh, I want
- 47:00Speaker 1: to go to this song. No go from number one
- 47:04Speaker 1: to number twenty and just tell me how you feel.
- 47:07Speaker 1: I mean, tell me, you know what I'm saying how
- 47:09Speaker 1: you feel about it. I love it. I like it
- 47:11Speaker 1: a lot. The people love it that has heard it
- 47:14Speaker 1: thus far, they love it. Rodney Brown Junior were going,
- 47:19Speaker 1: you know, we're on tour. We got the Novo show
- 47:22Speaker 1: November fourth. Man, it's it's lit right now, bro, I'm back.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I have to wait three and a half years for
- 47:29Speaker 1: another album. It depends on the demand for real, for real,
- 47:33Speaker 1: because don't say that, just say no, no and a
- 47:36Speaker 1: half years. Not because I don't want you to. Just
- 47:39Speaker 1: I don't want to be another fucking pandemic. But listen,
- 47:41Speaker 1: I don't want you to. I don't want you to.
- 47:44Speaker 1: I don't want you to not listening to this one
- 47:47Speaker 1: just thinking of you know what I mean. I don't
- 47:49Speaker 1: want you to take this one lightly. Don't take it lightly. Like,
- 47:52Speaker 1: let's worry about this right now. Rodney Brown Junior is
- 47:57Speaker 1: here right now. Rodney Brown is my government. So you
- 48:01Speaker 1: know the severity, uh and the sincereness of this album.
- 48:08Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Rodney Brown Junior, that's my government.
- 48:11Speaker 1: I assumed when I saw I said, I hope that's
- 48:14Speaker 1: his name, because if what else's name? For sure? You
- 48:16Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, So you know that was funny,
- 48:19Speaker 1: But listen that nigga that's right now is the ship
- 48:24Speaker 1: that you need to listen to, you know what I'm saying.
- 48:27Speaker 1: And buy some tickets November. Yeah, and bo tickets November four,
- 48:30Speaker 1: November fourth, We're gonna we live. You know, I'm gonna
- 48:32Speaker 1: have merched there. The man you see Snoop Dog there,
- 48:37Speaker 1: you never know, Snoop yg Mustard, Ot is definitely gonna
- 48:42Speaker 1: be there. Ot is everywhere. I think he has stunt
- 48:45Speaker 1: doubles somehow. Ot Genesis is everywhere. At the same time,
- 48:50Speaker 1: him and Ad got some voodoo shit going on, because
- 48:52Speaker 1: before Ad was on No Jumper, Ad would be everywhere.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I'd be in Scottsdale one night, Oh Ads at the
- 48:58Speaker 1: club of DJ and that, and then the next day
- 49:00Speaker 1: I'd be DJ in in l A and he'd be there,
- 49:01Speaker 1: And I'm like, Yo, what the fuck is going on
- 49:03Speaker 1: with your life? Bro? You have no responsibilities? Shout out
- 49:06Speaker 1: love him. That's my brother for out a d Shout
- 49:08Speaker 1: out o T. She'll probably be there and he'll probably
- 49:10Speaker 1: come out and do juice just for the culture. You,
- 49:11Speaker 1: I mean, why not? Yeah, never know, let's do it.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Boom Archie. Appreciate you man, love you brother, Yes, sir,
