- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: This season was unlike any other.
- 0:09Speaker 3: It was celebrated, it was watched, it was cried over,
- 0:13Speaker 3: It's been talked about, and we have one of, if
- 0:19Speaker 3: not the most talked about contestant from the season on
- 0:22Speaker 3: the show today, Daisy.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Welcome.
- 0:25Speaker 4: Hi, happy to be here.
- 0:27Speaker 5: Hi Daisy. That just made me think. First question is
- 0:31Speaker 5: how do you feel about being like the most followed
- 0:34Speaker 5: girl from the show in a very long time, the
- 0:37Speaker 5: most followed non lead and like the years since, like
- 0:41Speaker 5: the Peter season, have we seen this? What do you
- 0:43Speaker 5: think it was about you that people were like, I
- 0:45Speaker 5: must follow this girl.
- 0:47Speaker 4: I mean, it's definitely been really exciting, and I think
- 0:50Speaker 4: it's my story is really unique, and I think a
- 0:53Speaker 4: lot of people related to it that had been through
- 0:56Speaker 4: anything health, like any health issues. It was also a
- 1:01Speaker 4: really unique time in my life too, because it was
- 1:04Speaker 4: pretty new for me to have a cochlear implant and
- 1:06Speaker 4: so those like new moments were captured, which I thought
- 1:09Speaker 4: was really cool and I'm really production did such a
- 1:12Speaker 4: good job too with capturing those So I don't know,
- 1:17Speaker 4: I like it was really exciting. I don't necessarily know
- 1:20Speaker 4: exactly why it was me, but I'm really grateful for it.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Well, I mean, I personally think there's a relatability to you.
- 1:29Speaker 3: I also think that you were vulnerable with a mini things,
- 1:35Speaker 3: and then I think your style. I think obviously people
- 1:39Speaker 3: from the show love to kind of follow what you're
- 1:41Speaker 3: wearing and why you're wearing it, and it is one
- 1:44Speaker 3: of the interesting and I've never thought about until this season,
- 1:46Speaker 3: until you're coming on to day.
- 1:47Speaker 2: One of the cool parts about the Bachelor is that.
- 1:51Speaker 3: You're wearing these clothes and for the most part, these
- 1:55Speaker 3: are clothes that are very accessible to the general public.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Right You're not dressed up like a red carpet wearing
- 2:01Speaker 3: your five thousand dollars dress so you can show it
- 2:04Speaker 3: off one night. These are clothes that you're either like
- 2:06Speaker 3: bringing from your closet or maybe going on like a
- 2:08Speaker 3: little run to a department store to pick up Have
- 2:12Speaker 3: you gotten a lot of like people reaching out wondering
- 2:16Speaker 3: you know where you got your clothes from? And my
- 2:18Speaker 3: fallow up to this is did you expect to be
- 2:21Speaker 3: known for your style?
- 2:23Speaker 4: No? I didn't, And actually I give credit to my
- 2:25Speaker 4: friends because when I was going on the show, and
- 2:29Speaker 4: they were helping me pack. I had one night where
- 2:31Speaker 4: like a few of my closest girlfriends came over a
- 2:33Speaker 4: couple days before I left, and we went through every
- 2:36Speaker 4: single outfit that I was going to bring on and
- 2:38Speaker 4: they made me a list because they were like, Daisy,
- 2:39Speaker 4: this is going to be a disaster because we know
- 2:41Speaker 4: you if you don't have something to be a little
- 2:44Speaker 4: bit organized. So they made me a list of like
- 2:46Speaker 4: every single outfit. It was like daytime outfit, but like
- 2:49Speaker 4: top and pantsy wear with what shoes, how you should
- 2:52Speaker 4: do your hair like they did everything for me. But
- 2:56Speaker 4: it was cool to see. But I also tried to
- 2:59Speaker 4: dress and like way that I normally dress to express myself.
- 3:02Speaker 4: So yeah, it was fun though, and I had a
- 3:05Speaker 4: lot of my friend's old prom dresses I wore though
- 3:10Speaker 4: I was scavengean.
- 3:13Speaker 5: You have had like there already so many things come
- 3:16Speaker 5: out about you over the past couple weeks, like rumors, right,
- 3:20Speaker 5: so you have this there's this TikTok where you and
- 3:22Speaker 5: John Henry are close on the couch and people are
- 3:25Speaker 5: speculating that you're dating, and then we you're not, Okay,
- 3:30Speaker 5: you're not dating John Henry would you, is there somebody
- 3:33Speaker 5: from the Bachelor franchise that you would be interested in.
- 3:37Speaker 4: I don't know, not off the top of my head.
- 3:40Speaker 4: I'm kind of just doing my thing right now.
- 3:42Speaker 6: Honestly, Well, you won't.
- 3:45Speaker 5: We know why you don't want to be the bachelorette
- 3:47Speaker 5: because you had, you know, you just feel like it
- 3:49Speaker 5: wasn't the appropriate role for you. You don't feel like
- 3:53Speaker 5: dating like that, you don't feel like hurting people's feelings,
- 3:56Speaker 5: you don't feel like being under the emotional and physical
- 3:59Speaker 5: stress of it all totally understandable. Would you do Paradise though,
- 4:03Speaker 5: because it is a lot more relaxed.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Well, yeah, you've done Paradise.
- 4:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Did you like it?
- 4:10Speaker 5: Well, I met my husband on it, so yeah, I
- 4:14Speaker 5: did like it.
- 4:15Speaker 3: But it was the biggest advocate. She thinks it's the
- 4:19Speaker 3: best thing in the world.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think.
- 4:22Speaker 6: You'd like I think you'd enjoy Well, you get a
- 4:24Speaker 6: lot out of it.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Okay, then maybe I'll consider it. But Okay, in this moment,
- 4:28Speaker 4: I would have to say no, but I would really Yeah,
- 4:32Speaker 4: I think i think I'm ready to just not do
- 4:36Speaker 4: that for a second.
- 4:38Speaker 6: Did you like not like being on TV?
- 4:41Speaker 4: I actually loved it? And I had a really great time.
- 4:44Speaker 4: I just think it wasn't I mean, it's hard because,
- 4:48Speaker 4: like I don't have anything bad to say about it.
- 4:50Speaker 4: I just think I kind of needed a breather from
- 4:55Speaker 4: reality tv for a second.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Smart it's you know, I think for jin and we're
- 5:02Speaker 3: gonna talk about gen just a little bit. The difficulty
- 5:06Speaker 3: with being the Bachelorette is that you really don't have
- 5:09Speaker 3: a break.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Now.
- 5:10Speaker 3: With the Bachelor, you get a little break in between.
- 5:12Speaker 3: You get some months to kind of breathe get back
- 5:13Speaker 3: to your life, see your friends, kind of adjust, hear
- 5:17Speaker 3: all the criticism and also hear all the praise, and
- 5:19Speaker 3: you kind of get some like you just get used
- 5:22Speaker 3: to it a little bit more. I think, Yeah, with
- 5:25Speaker 3: the Bachelorette, you're rolling right in to filming and it
- 5:28Speaker 3: feels like you haven't been off camera then for six
- 5:32Speaker 3: months straight, which I will say is fairly unhealthy. It's
- 5:38Speaker 3: really hard. So I want to dig in a little
- 5:42Speaker 3: bit to your decision to say, Hey, the Bachelorette is
- 5:45Speaker 3: not my role. You said you needed a break from
- 5:48Speaker 3: reality television. When you say that, what do you actually mean.
- 5:53Speaker 4: I think just the stress of everything too. I think
- 5:56Speaker 4: I didn't. Obviously i'd watched The Bachelor, I'll go, but
- 6:00Speaker 4: I don't think I understood because when I was watching it,
- 6:04Speaker 4: I mean I would always watch it, and I would
- 6:07Speaker 4: go and like follow girls or guys some of like
- 6:10Speaker 4: my favorites that were on the show. But I think
- 6:14Speaker 4: it's a completely different experience when it's you going through
- 6:19Speaker 4: it and you're also seeing everything that everyone's staying online,
- 6:22Speaker 4: which I do a good job of like dismissing it.
- 6:25Speaker 4: But I think part of the reaction I wasn't expected
- 6:28Speaker 4: to have for me when people were like saying negative
- 6:31Speaker 4: things about how I talk and my cochlear implant and
- 6:33Speaker 4: stuff like that, and I guess it just made me
- 6:36Speaker 4: realize like how mean people can be online, which like
- 6:40Speaker 4: I have taken enough skin to deal with it. But
- 6:42Speaker 4: I think in a way being the Bachelorette too, it
- 6:46Speaker 4: was something that I took into consideration because I feel
- 6:49Speaker 4: like people are so much or can be so much
- 6:53Speaker 4: more judgmental towards women, and especially the lead in that case,
- 6:58Speaker 4: and I I just didn't want to get in a
- 7:02Speaker 4: bad head space and I'm in such a good space
- 7:04Speaker 4: right now, and I didn't want anything to mess with
- 7:06Speaker 4: that because I am happy, and I haven't always been happy,
- 7:09Speaker 4: and so I didn't want anything to negatively affect that.
- 7:12Speaker 4: So I think that was kind of a reason too,
- 7:15Speaker 4: if I'm being honest. But I think and also like,
- 7:21Speaker 4: you don't get to talk to your family or your
- 7:24Speaker 4: friends in this whole little world, and I just felt like,
- 7:28Speaker 4: right now is a time for me to kind of
- 7:30Speaker 4: focus on the things I want to do and spend
- 7:34Speaker 4: time with my family and friends and everyone. But it
- 7:37Speaker 4: is hard too because it's like now I'm rambling. I'm like,
- 7:40Speaker 4: I know it's a huge opportunity too, but I just
- 7:45Speaker 4: felt like it wasn't the right place and time for me.
- 7:48Speaker 5: So you said this week that production was very nice
- 7:51Speaker 5: and accepting of your decision, But do you think that
- 7:54Speaker 5: you were like the first person who just really rejected
- 7:57Speaker 5: them when they fully play end on you being the bachelorette?
- 8:02Speaker 4: I mean I was. I was very open and honest
- 8:06Speaker 4: with them through the whole process, and I think they
- 8:11Speaker 4: were kind of hoping I was going to do it
- 8:14Speaker 4: and turn around you, yeah, because part of me did
- 8:17Speaker 4: want to do it, But but no, I feel like
- 8:21Speaker 4: there's been other people. I mean, I don't think we
- 8:23Speaker 4: always know, but I think there's probably definitely been other people.
- 8:28Speaker 4: But I also think it's hard when you're in that
- 8:30Speaker 4: situation because if you would have asked me, like ever
- 8:33Speaker 4: in my life, Oh, you're gonna potentially be the bachelorette,
- 8:39Speaker 4: what would you say? No? I would be like no,
- 8:42Speaker 4: like I'd say yes, yeah. So I don't know. I
- 8:46Speaker 4: think it's just weird when you're in that position.
- 8:49Speaker 2: It's a it is a unique situation.
- 8:52Speaker 4: Do you have a date not doing it? Uh?
- 8:55Speaker 2: Not really.
- 8:56Speaker 3: I think I teased with them, like I think during
- 9:00Speaker 3: my filming, I said, hey, I don't know if i'd
- 9:02Speaker 3: want it, and I really don't. Didn't think I knew
- 9:06Speaker 3: until afterwards, because you don't really understand what the show
- 9:12Speaker 3: is and what it does to you personally until it
- 9:15Speaker 3: starts airing on television. Yeah, and once I start airing
- 9:20Speaker 3: on television, then there was a whole new kind of.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Weight of anxiety that I felt.
- 9:28Speaker 3: But I also for me felt like, quite honestly, my
- 9:33Speaker 3: life was just not in a place that anything else
- 9:35Speaker 3: cool was happening, and so I was like, I need
- 9:37Speaker 3: to do this, like I don't have a lot else
- 9:39Speaker 3: to fall back on. And I think that's where I
- 9:42Speaker 3: was trying like, just take the risk and take the step.
- 9:45Speaker 3: I do understand, though, if you're looking at your life
- 9:47Speaker 3: and you're like, there's some other things I'm very excited about.
- 9:50Speaker 3: I feel very at peace with where I am personally,
- 9:53Speaker 3: then I think it would be an easier decision be
- 9:55Speaker 3: like not for me. I also think it's worth noting
- 9:57Speaker 3: that it was a different time in the show. When
- 10:00Speaker 3: I was on it, right seven years ago, the show
- 10:04Speaker 3: was still kind of at its peak, I would say,
- 10:08Speaker 3: and your season, well, Joey's season with you on it
- 10:10Speaker 3: really brought it back I think to that kind of level.
- 10:13Speaker 3: But it's it's a tough road ahead because people are
- 10:16Speaker 3: still in this kind of mindset of they're judging before
- 10:21Speaker 3: loving when they watch it. Back then it was more
- 10:24Speaker 3: loving before judging.
- 10:26Speaker 4: So true, Yeah, definitely.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Well, and I think it's really interesting in your because
- 10:33Speaker 3: you would have been a very popular choice. I think
- 10:35Speaker 3: people would have been ecstatic to watch more of you.
- 10:40Speaker 3: I also think, though, there is this level of people
- 10:43Speaker 3: get viewer exhaustion, so Jin kind of has the benefit
- 10:47Speaker 3: of we don't really know her, and so it's going
- 10:49Speaker 3: to be taking a long time for people to get
- 10:51Speaker 3: sick of her. They will. It happens every season. It
- 10:55Speaker 3: just does at some point, people you know will bring
- 10:57Speaker 3: on criticism. But for somebody like you, except for well,
- 11:01Speaker 3: but we didn't know Joey going in. It took us
- 11:03Speaker 3: a while to get to know him, and then once
- 11:04Speaker 3: we got to know him, it took you know, nobody
- 11:08Speaker 3: really ever got sick of him. I do think there's
- 11:10Speaker 3: a benefit in not being like main character coming onto
- 11:13Speaker 3: the show.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yea, as definitely as the Bachelorette.
- 11:17Speaker 6: But I feel like.
- 11:18Speaker 4: People will be very intrigue to learn more about her.
- 11:23Speaker 3: I think they're going to be fascinated by her because
- 11:25Speaker 3: I mean, and we're going to get into that later.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I want to hear kind of what you know about
- 11:28Speaker 3: her and what we can expect to see. But like,
- 11:30Speaker 3: as you mentioned, you've been a fan of the show
- 11:33Speaker 3: and you've watched the show. Now I got to go
- 11:35Speaker 3: back and see if you follow me, because you said
- 11:37Speaker 3: you follow your favorites from.
- 11:38Speaker 4: The past, and so I do follow you.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Okay, good, That's that's important because it was going to
- 11:44Speaker 3: get very awkward here for a second. But now being
- 11:48Speaker 3: on the show and being a fan, being a support
- 11:51Speaker 3: of the show has it ruined the show at all
- 11:54Speaker 3: for you, changed your perspective on the show kind of
- 11:56Speaker 3: what is it done now that you've seen how the
- 11:59Speaker 3: meat is made.
- 12:00Speaker 4: I think if I'm looking at my experience, I would
- 12:03Speaker 4: say it made it even better for me because I
- 12:07Speaker 4: did have such a great experience. And I know not
- 12:10Speaker 4: everyone can always say that, but I had like the
- 12:13Speaker 4: best experience and if I went back to that time, like,
- 12:17Speaker 4: I would do it again hand sownd But I, yeah,
- 12:21Speaker 4: I had the time of my life, honestly. But yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 4: I think it's just something when you're like going in
- 12:28Speaker 4: to do it. I would say, be like, you need
- 12:32Speaker 4: to be very sure of who you are when you're
- 12:35Speaker 4: going into it, and if you're not, then I think
- 12:37Speaker 4: it can be a little bit messy for you. But
- 12:41Speaker 4: I think for me, I was so sure of who
- 12:43Speaker 4: I am, and I think if I would have done
- 12:46Speaker 4: it even like a year ago, it probably won't have
- 12:49Speaker 4: been a good situation for me. But I think I
- 12:53Speaker 4: think just the time I'm at in my life, I
- 12:55Speaker 4: think it was a really good thing for me. And yeah,
- 12:58Speaker 4: I don't, I don't. I had, Yeah, I had a
- 13:00Speaker 4: great time.
- 13:01Speaker 5: So Daisy, let's go back to the show for a second,
- 13:05Speaker 5: especially towards the end, because you've been honest this week
- 13:07Speaker 5: about the fact that you felt like something was missing
- 13:09Speaker 5: with Joey, like you always liked him, you felt like
- 13:13Speaker 5: you had a great vibe that there's just like something missing.
- 13:16Speaker 5: And you really discovered this when it was you, Kelsey
- 13:21Speaker 5: and him together at that Rose ceremony and you could
- 13:25Speaker 5: see the difference. But did you feel like it was
- 13:29Speaker 5: like did you feel sad when you saw the difference
- 13:32Speaker 5: or were you just like, oh, there is so there
- 13:35Speaker 5: is something missing and you were kind of like accepting
- 13:38Speaker 5: of that.
- 13:39Speaker 4: I think I was accepting, but I think in that
- 13:41Speaker 4: moment it is difficult because like up and up until
- 13:47Speaker 4: that moment, I think it's actually going from Jasper to hometowns,
- 13:51Speaker 4: I thought it was me and then I think in
- 13:56Speaker 4: that moment too, so it is a little bit shocking also.
- 13:58Speaker 4: But I think I was accepting of it because there
- 14:02Speaker 4: was part of me that was always like, I don't
- 14:04Speaker 4: know if this is it, but every time we were
- 14:07Speaker 4: together it was so much fun and we had such
- 14:09Speaker 4: a great time. So I think I had a hard
- 14:11Speaker 4: time admitting that part to myself. But I think Partomi
- 14:16Speaker 4: always knew a little bit.
- 14:19Speaker 5: So then what would have happened if you thought in
- 14:25Speaker 5: that last week that he was going to pick you, Like,
- 14:28Speaker 5: would you have been the one who dumped him and
- 14:30Speaker 5: made all of his greatest fears come true?
- 14:35Speaker 4: I have no idea. It's hard for me to put
- 14:37Speaker 4: myself in that position because, like, I don't know, it
- 14:40Speaker 4: didn't happen, but I think I'm like, I'm the type
- 14:43Speaker 4: of person that, like, I'll always try to make it work.
- 14:47Speaker 4: But yeah, it's definitely like it was meant to be
- 14:50Speaker 4: him and Kelsey for sure.
- 15:02Speaker 3: The interesting thing here for me in trying to dive
- 15:04Speaker 3: into your thought process and tell me if I'm wrong.
- 15:07Speaker 3: It sounds like the major disconnect was when you saw
- 15:14Speaker 3: the two of them together before that, were you doubting
- 15:19Speaker 3: anything or were you full steam ahead.
- 15:24Speaker 4: Before that? The only time I would doubt things is
- 15:27Speaker 4: I remember all of the girls, like we'd all be
- 15:29Speaker 4: sitting together, and I felt like everyone was like I
- 15:33Speaker 4: think I was really cautious with the whole thing too,
- 15:35Speaker 4: And everyone I felt like was falling in love way
- 15:38Speaker 4: faster than I was, And I was like, am I
- 15:40Speaker 4: supposed to be there yet? But it's just it's a
- 15:43Speaker 4: weird situation, and you're not used to be put like
- 15:47Speaker 4: in that type of situation, So I think I was
- 15:49Speaker 4: very cautious. But I think also part of it was
- 15:52Speaker 4: when I was with him, I was having like such
- 15:55Speaker 4: a great time, but then also when we were around
- 15:59Speaker 4: all other girls, I never felt I would never get
- 16:04Speaker 4: very jealous. And I don't know if that should have
- 16:06Speaker 4: been like a red flag to me, because I mean,
- 16:08Speaker 4: I know jealousy is like a bad thing, but I
- 16:10Speaker 4: feel like in this type of situation, I probably should
- 16:13Speaker 4: have felt a little bit more jealous. I don't know,
- 16:17Speaker 4: but it's interesting. Yeah, but I remember feeling that way,
- 16:20Speaker 4: and I was always like, maybe it's I think it's
- 16:22Speaker 4: just because I am so confident in where me and
- 16:24Speaker 4: him are at, which I was too, because I would
- 16:28Speaker 4: always get like validation from him. But yeah, but then
- 16:31Speaker 4: part of me, like, I do wonder a little bit
- 16:33Speaker 4: if that was because maybe it was kind of like
- 16:38Speaker 4: something that I should have paid more attention to. If
- 16:42Speaker 4: does that make sense. I don't know if that.
- 16:44Speaker 3: It does make sense totally. But speaking of jealousy, something
- 16:49Speaker 3: that I think was a miracle of this season watching
- 16:52Speaker 3: it and you're a part of it, was that it
- 16:56Speaker 3: was very clear from like week one who the front
- 16:59Speaker 3: runner were.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Those front runners never changed.
- 17:02Speaker 3: It was you and Kelsey the whole time, clearly to
- 17:04Speaker 3: everybody watching, typically well being in the house myself and
- 17:09Speaker 3: coming to a few seasons when there's two front runners
- 17:12Speaker 3: or even one front runner, the house kind of collapses
- 17:15Speaker 3: in on itself. The other contestants can feel it, they
- 17:18Speaker 3: can sense it, they can see it, and there is
- 17:20Speaker 3: a lot of jealousy, drama comes about, and then people
- 17:23Speaker 3: typically just go home at some point because they're like
- 17:26Speaker 3: this is stupid, Like what am I doing here any longer?
- 17:28Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 17:29Speaker 2: How did like how did the house function?
- 17:34Speaker 3: And I guess the question has to also assume that
- 17:39Speaker 3: they understood and saw that the two of you were
- 17:42Speaker 3: front runners or did that never become apparent to anybody
- 17:44Speaker 3: else the whole time?
- 17:47Speaker 4: I think it was because girls would talk to me
- 17:50Speaker 4: and tell me that they thought I was one or
- 17:53Speaker 4: that I was going to be like very very far,
- 17:57Speaker 4: and people would say that about Kelsey two, and so
- 18:02Speaker 4: I think people did know and like see it. But
- 18:06Speaker 4: also it's like you never know, because I think sometimes
- 18:08Speaker 4: it's like there's a front runner and then they get
- 18:10Speaker 4: a certain like spot like halfway through the season and
- 18:13Speaker 4: then they just kind of like fall off. So I
- 18:16Speaker 4: don't know, and I think just me and Kelsey kind
- 18:19Speaker 4: of being how we are. We are both like always
- 18:24Speaker 4: very nice to everyone and got along with pretty much,
- 18:27Speaker 4: I would say, honestly everyone in the house. And so
- 18:32Speaker 4: I don't know, but I know what you're saying, but
- 18:34Speaker 4: I don't think so with me and her. I think
- 18:36Speaker 4: it was Yeah, for some reason, there wasn't. But maybe
- 18:41Speaker 4: it's too there was a lot of other drama going
- 18:43Speaker 4: on too that aren't focused on that.
- 18:45Speaker 3: And I just think it is a miracle of this season.
- 18:49Speaker 3: I've never seen a season where there's been two clear
- 18:51Speaker 3: front runners that have walked through it without anyone ever
- 18:56Speaker 3: kind of putting a target on their back and starting to,
- 19:00Speaker 3: you know, disrupt.
- 19:01Speaker 4: Yeah, it's true. Put it that way.
- 19:04Speaker 3: It's very interesting and it might be. I mean, I
- 19:07Speaker 3: think it gives a lot of credit to you and
- 19:09Speaker 3: Kelsey and how you handled it and probably what you
- 19:11Speaker 3: said and didn't say. And also I think the key
- 19:16Speaker 3: point here for anybody listening who watches the show is
- 19:19Speaker 3: your confidence. I think also played a role in that
- 19:22Speaker 3: because you could be confident internally, you didn't have to
- 19:25Speaker 3: be confident externally to also say things and throw off
- 19:30Speaker 3: anybody else and kind of push them out of the
- 19:31Speaker 3: way on your path towards the end, or to at
- 19:35Speaker 3: least making the decision to stay or to go. And
- 19:37Speaker 3: so I think the two of your's confidence really played
- 19:41Speaker 3: a role in that.
- 19:41Speaker 4: Also, Yeah, definitely thank you.
- 19:45Speaker 5: What's your relationship with like with Kelsey like now, because like,
- 19:49Speaker 5: did things get awkward after you, you know, had the
- 19:53Speaker 5: joint car ride and there was just like not a
- 19:59Speaker 5: stereotypical ending.
- 20:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I would say afterwards, I think it's just kind
- 20:07Speaker 4: of crazy coming off the show because you're in this bubble.
- 20:10Speaker 4: And so we came off and I really kind of
- 20:13Speaker 4: kept to myself. I didn't talk to really any of
- 20:16Speaker 4: the girls besides Autumn, Chrisa and Kelsey t right at
- 20:22Speaker 4: the beginning, and then me and Rachel. Rachel reached out
- 20:26Speaker 4: to me and we kind of started talking, and then
- 20:28Speaker 4: me and Kelsey talked a few times. I think when
- 20:30Speaker 4: it started airing, I felt like it got a little
- 20:34Speaker 4: bit weird maybe, but then like me and her, we
- 20:39Speaker 4: were very like we understood like the relationship we had
- 20:43Speaker 4: on the show and the friendship we created, so we
- 20:45Speaker 4: just kept kind of talking through it and then yeah,
- 20:49Speaker 4: so but I would say maybe a little bit, but
- 20:52Speaker 4: now everything's kind of back to normal. But I think
- 20:54Speaker 4: it is too You're on the show and that happens,
- 20:57Speaker 4: and then it's kind of this whole different thing when
- 20:58Speaker 4: it's airing back and everyone else is putting in their opinions,
- 21:02Speaker 4: and so I think it does get a little heavy
- 21:05Speaker 4: on people sometimes. But overall, I would say our relationships
- 21:09Speaker 4: really good.
- 21:10Speaker 5: I would say, because it would be easier for me
- 21:14Speaker 5: personally to have the ending that you guys did have
- 21:18Speaker 5: if I was, you know, the quote winner. Yeah, but
- 21:21Speaker 5: I would also say that in your situation, it seemed
- 21:24Speaker 5: like you and Kelsey were like tied, if not you
- 21:28Speaker 5: being like the more front runner, and you know, of
- 21:31Speaker 5: course that obviously can get to you to be like
- 21:34Speaker 5: why does everybody thinks it's stazy the entire time?
- 21:38Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think she knew and I knew at
- 21:42Speaker 4: the ending, especially that like last conversation that me and
- 21:45Speaker 4: her had like definitely wasn't me and definitely was yeah,
- 21:51Speaker 4: And so I think like she knew that and had that,
- 21:55Speaker 4: but yeah, it was it was like weird for me too,
- 21:58Speaker 4: especially when the like main spoiler came out and it
- 22:01Speaker 4: says that I wasn't them. I think that was kind
- 22:05Speaker 4: of I know, it was difficult for me to navigate
- 22:08Speaker 4: because it was pretty I'm pretty sure it was pretty
- 22:11Speaker 4: soon after, like a couple of weeks after it was done,
- 22:14Speaker 4: that came out and I was still processing everything, So
- 22:17Speaker 4: it was shocking to me. But I also know, like
- 22:23Speaker 4: when it's plain back, like we remember what happened between
- 22:28Speaker 4: us and how the ending all happened, and so I
- 22:30Speaker 4: just always kind of like brought it back to that
- 22:32Speaker 4: versus what people were saying online, which I think sometimes
- 22:36Speaker 4: it's hard to do, but that's what I tried to do.
- 22:39Speaker 3: We also, I mean, I think there's it's important here,
- 22:42Speaker 3: and Daisy, I'd love to hear your kind of response
- 22:45Speaker 3: to this. But if Kelsey was to go through a
- 22:50Speaker 3: season a few weeks of intense confusion and jealousy, I
- 22:53Speaker 3: personally feel like that would be very fair because here's
- 22:57Speaker 3: what we're sitting at now. She's add to the end
- 23:01Speaker 3: of the show five months of being with her fiance,
- 23:05Speaker 3: falling deeper hopefully in love with her fiance, viewing her
- 23:08Speaker 3: fiance as somebody who is a part of her a
- 23:12Speaker 3: partner to her. You know, the show is still a
- 23:16Speaker 3: piece of their story, but they've moved on from that personally.
- 23:19Speaker 3: And then the show starts airing, and all of a sudden,
- 23:23Speaker 3: your fiance is to the public, sharing you with somebody else,
- 23:27Speaker 3: and no matter what, you're gonna get protective. My sweet wife,
- 23:32Speaker 3: who has not a mean bone in her body, if
- 23:36Speaker 3: there is ever anything said about me personally, she would
- 23:40Speaker 3: lose it, Like there would be a whole different side
- 23:42Speaker 3: of her to come out right. And so I understand
- 23:44Speaker 3: how there is a period there will probably for Kelsey
- 23:48Speaker 3: or for the winner quote unquote, would have all sorts
- 23:54Speaker 3: of emotions and probably for a bit be resentful towards you,
- 23:57Speaker 3: even if she still likes you and cares about you.
- 24:01Speaker 2: What would you say to that, Like it.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Walk me through what you think it would feel like
- 24:06Speaker 3: to be the winner in this situation.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I think it would definitely be hard
- 24:13Speaker 4: at times, for sure, And I think it helped that
- 24:18Speaker 4: we both did have such respect for each other, even
- 24:21Speaker 4: though at moments it was probably really hard for both
- 24:23Speaker 4: of us. But like at the end of the day, like, yes,
- 24:27Speaker 4: it was me and her at the end, but it
- 24:29Speaker 4: also like, none of us, neither of us did anything
- 24:34Speaker 4: hurtful to each other. It wasn't it was just it
- 24:36Speaker 4: was the show, and it was how it came out
- 24:39Speaker 4: and how it was ending. But yeah, I could definitely see,
- 24:42Speaker 4: like being the final person in that scenario how it
- 24:45Speaker 4: would definitely be weird. And I feel like for everyone
- 24:49Speaker 4: who's been in that position, it probably is. It's probably
- 24:54Speaker 4: something that no one else will ever understand because, like
- 24:56Speaker 4: you said, you do the show, then you're with them
- 24:58Speaker 4: for a few months, and then you have to like
- 25:01Speaker 4: go back and live it, but also live it through
- 25:05Speaker 4: everyone else watching it. And I think it's more difficult.
- 25:08Speaker 4: That part's way more difficult, even for me than I
- 25:11Speaker 4: thought it was going to be, like when I was
- 25:14Speaker 4: in it. When I was in it, I had such
- 25:15Speaker 4: a great time. The only time I struggled is when
- 25:17Speaker 4: parts of the season, like when it was airing.
- 25:20Speaker 5: Yeah, what was this is random? We're going on a
- 25:25Speaker 5: different topic right now. What was your take on the
- 25:27Speaker 5: whole Maria Mania.
- 25:30Speaker 4: I just think it was a lot of like big personalities,
- 25:34Speaker 4: and I think and when you're in a group of
- 25:37Speaker 4: girls with a lot of big personalities, sometimes it doesn't
- 25:43Speaker 4: go well. But I'm friends with a lot of the
- 25:46Speaker 4: girls on the show, and everyone's like friends and made
- 25:49Speaker 4: up for the most part. But yeah, it was crazy.
- 25:55Speaker 4: I remember sitting and watching some of it. I was like,
- 25:56Speaker 4: what is going It's.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Always the best part, and tested it's always the best
- 26:01Speaker 3: part that you have a front, real seat at the
- 26:03Speaker 3: craziness that's now going to air on national television and
- 26:06Speaker 3: you have like the ticket that nobody can buy and
- 26:10Speaker 3: you can just watch it go down. It's oftentimes really
- 26:13Speaker 3: weird to see people like arguing in front of you
- 26:15Speaker 3: and not to like step in and try to like
- 26:17Speaker 3: be the peacemaker. Yeah, but you're just like, I just
- 26:20Speaker 3: got to let this go and let this play out,
- 26:22Speaker 3: and I just got to sit here and watch it's wild.
- 26:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:25Speaker 5: But what was your take on everyone's obsession with her
- 26:29Speaker 5: and her also being somebody that Bachelor Nation was rooting
- 26:33Speaker 5: on to be the Bachelorette.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:35Speaker 4: I think it was really interesting because me and Marie
- 26:38Speaker 4: are very very different, even like our personality is like
- 26:42Speaker 4: everything about us, I would say, we're very different, and
- 26:45Speaker 4: I think it was super interesting to see how people
- 26:48Speaker 4: were really supporting me and like also really supporting her.
- 26:51Speaker 4: But I also think that might have been part of
- 26:55Speaker 4: the reason why, because we were so different from each other.
- 27:00Speaker 4: So yeah, did I answer that, I don't even know.
- 27:03Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, totally.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I've never seen a contestant come off the show and
- 27:08Speaker 2: have so much support.
- 27:12Speaker 3: I would say, but that doesn't feel like the right word,
- 27:14Speaker 3: like backing, like pandemonium, pandemonium, but also just in her corner,
- 27:19Speaker 3: like she you know, like really like I'm I'm fighting
- 27:23Speaker 3: for her and with her. Yeah, you know, because at
- 27:26Speaker 3: the end of the day, no matter what, like she
- 27:29Speaker 3: was polarizing and at times controversial. Yeah, but yet that
- 27:36Speaker 3: polarization and that controversy led to people just being like, no,
- 27:39Speaker 3: I love her. And it would be there's a couple
- 27:42Speaker 3: of classes out there at universities that study each season
- 27:46Speaker 3: of the show as like a social experiment, and I
- 27:49Speaker 3: can't I would love to hear kind of what they're
- 27:51Speaker 3: finding out about the support for both you and Maria,
- 27:56Speaker 3: because you are different, but yet you both got so
- 27:58Speaker 3: much support.
- 27:59Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely. I think it would be interesting to like
- 28:03Speaker 4: see how are like followers overlap?
- 28:08Speaker 6: Yeah, like how many do overlap? Yeah, where's the Venn diagram?
- 28:12Speaker 4: Or if they're like they're pretty different or if.
- 28:14Speaker 6: Like totally, that's so funny.
- 28:18Speaker 5: Okay, so let's talk about your health journey. How how
- 28:21Speaker 5: willing are you to like go back in time and
- 28:23Speaker 5: to start telling us about when you felt like something
- 28:26Speaker 5: was off.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I can go way back in time.
- 28:29Speaker 6: Okay, let's do it. When was the moment?
- 28:32Speaker 4: So I think like when I was little, we kind
- 28:34Speaker 4: of always knew because I would have seizures and shot
- 28:38Speaker 4: out and we couldn't really figure out why. And then
- 28:41Speaker 4: I would say, when I was like fifteen seventeen, that's
- 28:44Speaker 4: when I first started realizing that my hearing was going away.
- 28:47Speaker 4: So when and started seeing a bunch of doctors did
- 28:50Speaker 4: all these tests, no one could really figure out what
- 28:52Speaker 4: was wrong with me. And I was still like having
- 28:54Speaker 4: They called them like stroke like cazes because half my
- 28:56Speaker 4: body would go numb. But yeah, that kept happening. And
- 29:01Speaker 4: then I had first been only losing hearing my left year,
- 29:05Speaker 4: but then it started impacting my right year, and they
- 29:08Speaker 4: didn't think that was ever going to happen. So then
- 29:11Speaker 4: and then I remember I went abroad. It was my
- 29:14Speaker 4: junior year of college and I went abroad, and that
- 29:18Speaker 4: was right after I found out that I was losing
- 29:20Speaker 4: my hearing and I was probably going to lose all
- 29:22Speaker 4: of it, So that was pretty tough. And then that
- 29:26Speaker 4: summer when I got back from abroad, I remember talking
- 29:30Speaker 4: to my mom and I just said, something doesn't feel
- 29:34Speaker 4: right in like my brain. I'm like, I just don't
- 29:38Speaker 4: feel right. I don't feel like me, Like something just
- 29:41Speaker 4: feels wrong. And so then like we started doing a
- 29:44Speaker 4: bunch of different things, and then they figured out that
- 29:47Speaker 4: I had lime disease. And then it got to the
- 29:49Speaker 4: point where I'd be having conversations with people and I'd
- 29:52Speaker 4: just forget what I was saying, like it would just
- 29:56Speaker 4: completely stop.
- 30:07Speaker 5: So when did they think that you ended up getting
- 30:10Speaker 5: lime disease now, in hindsight, because you had it when
- 30:12Speaker 5: you were so little. You had symptoms of something when
- 30:15Speaker 5: you were so little.
- 30:16Speaker 4: Yeah, So I grew up in Minnesota, like out in
- 30:18Speaker 4: the wood, so we were off the side, and I
- 30:20Speaker 4: remember we would like we would come in and our
- 30:23Speaker 4: parents would check us for ticks and take them off.
- 30:25Speaker 4: But I remember when I think when I was six,
- 30:27Speaker 4: I had one in the back of my neck that
- 30:29Speaker 4: was a deer tick. So he went to the doctor
- 30:31Speaker 4: and they caught out a chunk of my skin actually
- 30:34Speaker 4: and took it out. But we think that's when I
- 30:36Speaker 4: got it because there's certain trackers in your blood and
- 30:39Speaker 4: if when I did a bunch of the in depth
- 30:42Speaker 4: test seen multiple times, the trackers that showed only show
- 30:46Speaker 4: if you had it for over ten years. So they
- 30:48Speaker 4: think that's when I probably got it, and then it
- 30:51Speaker 4: just slowly started affecting me like wore some wars.
- 30:55Speaker 3: I want to dive in a little bit here because
- 30:58Speaker 3: for anybody listening, lime disease right now is the third
- 31:01Speaker 3: most diagnosed disease in the US. Yet it doesn't have
- 31:05Speaker 3: a lot of medical backing, so there's not a lot
- 31:07Speaker 3: of money going into it. There's not a lot of research. Daisy,
- 31:11Speaker 3: we've talked about in the podcast before. We don't have
- 31:13Speaker 3: to go into length about this. But my best friend
- 31:16Speaker 3: was diagnosed with lime disease now four years ago, five
- 31:20Speaker 3: years ago, and it developed into ALS, and so it
- 31:23Speaker 3: started shutting down his nervous system and so now he
- 31:27Speaker 3: suffers from ALS. He's still alive, but it's ALS.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Sucks.
- 31:32Speaker 3: So lime disease is a big part of my life,
- 31:36Speaker 3: but it's also a big part of Bachelor Nation's life.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Obviously.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Trista Setter just came out today talking about her husband
- 31:41Speaker 3: Ryan's struggle with lime disease. Kelly flanagain, Kelly Flanagan, I
- 31:47Speaker 3: want to talk a little bit about this disease specifically,
- 31:51Speaker 3: so you're seizures, because I was unaware even kind of
- 31:55Speaker 3: watching the show. I was trying to put all this together.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Your seizures are believe to be also from lime disease.
- 32:02Speaker 4: Yeah, that's like the only thing they can link them to.
- 32:04Speaker 4: I was misdiagnosed with epilepsy, but then I saw a
- 32:07Speaker 4: bunch of specialists and they were like, no, you definitely
- 32:09Speaker 4: do not have epilepsy.
- 32:11Speaker 3: And so one of the things, obviously your case of
- 32:14Speaker 3: lime disease is pretty severe. I'm sure you have a
- 32:17Speaker 3: thousand different other like diseases below that that come up
- 32:20Speaker 3: on blood work.
- 32:21Speaker 2: But you're healthy now, I believe so right, Yeah.
- 32:27Speaker 4: I'm very This is probably like the healthiest I've ever been,
- 32:30Speaker 4: honestly since I was little.
- 32:32Speaker 3: But the cochlear implants are not a part of like
- 32:35Speaker 3: curing lime disease. So what do they do to help
- 32:37Speaker 3: rid you of this terrible disease?
- 32:40Speaker 4: Yeah, So I went to Germany. I did a bunch
- 32:44Speaker 4: of treatments in the States. Nothing was working, and it's
- 32:47Speaker 4: to the point where I like literally couldn't get out
- 32:49Speaker 4: of bed and I was just I was so sick
- 32:54Speaker 4: all the time. I remember there was this time period
- 32:57Speaker 4: where like I couldn't even walk to the bathroom because
- 33:00Speaker 4: my balance was so off. But I went intod this
- 33:04Speaker 4: treatment in Germany and it completely changed my life. But
- 33:09Speaker 4: my hearing. So they think, we don't know for sure,
- 33:13Speaker 4: but we're pretty sure the lime caused me to have
- 33:16Speaker 4: Minear's disease, which destructs your hearing. And so now I
- 33:21Speaker 4: just have I have Minear's disease and that's why my
- 33:23Speaker 4: hearing got so bad.
- 33:26Speaker 6: So does that develop from lime disease?
- 33:28Speaker 4: It can. Minyear's disease can happen from like a bunch
- 33:30Speaker 4: of different things, but from like infections, it can happen.
- 33:34Speaker 4: It can happen from like if you have like impact
- 33:37Speaker 4: to your head. Some people, it just happen. They don't
- 33:40Speaker 4: know exactly why it happens all the time, and there's
- 33:43Speaker 4: like no cere to it. They're doing a bunch of
- 33:44Speaker 4: research right now, so hopefully something that that will come through.
- 33:50Speaker 4: But yeah, they think that's why I haven't And I'm
- 33:55Speaker 4: also not to be the age I am and not
- 33:58Speaker 4: respond to any minear's treatments like usually steroids or diuretics
- 34:03Speaker 4: different like that will help if you're on a really
- 34:06Speaker 4: strict diet, but none of it has helped me. Surgeon,
- 34:09Speaker 4: actually they call me the unicorn.
- 34:13Speaker 6: Well what kind of magic did they do in Germany?
- 34:15Speaker 5: What did they have over.
- 34:16Speaker 6: There that we do not have? Do they recognize it
- 34:19Speaker 6: as a disease?
- 34:20Speaker 5: They recognize it as a disease, right, because I know
- 34:22Speaker 5: that in America. It's a little bit like yeah, there's
- 34:26Speaker 5: not like isn't isn't it just like not a ben
- 34:30Speaker 5: I think you've said it before. It's not like a
- 34:32Speaker 5: registered like official diet. Can't be like an official diagnosis.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Now it's like under the same category as like fibermyalgia.
- 34:43Speaker 3: So it's like not a registered like recognized disease.
- 34:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:48Speaker 2: So as a result, like yeah, they'll.
- 34:50Speaker 5: Have that stuff.
- 34:52Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, So do you recommend people going to Germany?
- 34:56Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 34:56Speaker 4: I always say if I already get sick again, I
- 34:58Speaker 4: would go there right away. It was definitely it was
- 35:02Speaker 4: like different because you are in a different country, but
- 35:05Speaker 4: they're just so much more knowledgeable about it, and so
- 35:07Speaker 4: the main thing they did was whole body hypothermia. So
- 35:10Speaker 4: they put you to sleep. It's like they yeah, I
- 35:16Speaker 4: was there for a month, but they did this twice.
- 35:18Speaker 4: They put me to sleep for I would say, like
- 35:20Speaker 4: five to six hours and then they raise your whole
- 35:23Speaker 4: body temperature up. I got up to like one hundred
- 35:25Speaker 4: and seven point six degrees and then they inject you
- 35:28Speaker 4: with antibiotics because lime can't withstand a certain heat and
- 35:33Speaker 4: a lot of people doctors will just give you antibiotics,
- 35:36Speaker 4: which I was on antibiotics for a really long time.
- 35:39Speaker 4: For some people it'll work because well if you get it,
- 35:42Speaker 4: if you take them within like the first two weeks,
- 35:44Speaker 4: I think it is that you have lime in a work.
- 35:47Speaker 4: But otherwise for most people, the antibiotics would just like
- 35:50Speaker 4: suppress it. But it's not good to be on antibiotics
- 35:52Speaker 4: for your life. But like lime, how to explain, it
- 35:58Speaker 4: has like a hard shell around it, and if you've
- 36:00Speaker 4: had it for a certain time, like antibiotics can't crack
- 36:03Speaker 4: through that shell. So but extreme heat can break the shell.
- 36:07Speaker 4: So when like you're in when I was getting heated up,
- 36:10Speaker 4: the shell like broke open, and then the antibiotics are
- 36:13Speaker 4: able to go in and treat it's so interesting.
- 36:17Speaker 6: Were you super scared going in for that?
- 36:20Speaker 4: I was really scared, but the doctors are very reassuring,
- 36:23Speaker 4: but it is scary because you're in a different country
- 36:25Speaker 4: and like, but at that point I was so sick.
- 36:28Speaker 4: I remember leaving. My older brother was like, are you
- 36:31Speaker 4: sure you want to do this? And I was just like,
- 36:32Speaker 4: it can't can't get any worse right now, and so
- 36:37Speaker 4: I was kind of my last like hope.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Yeah, Well, you're speaking to many there's many listeners who
- 36:43Speaker 3: who've probably been diagnosed with line. Your advocacy for this
- 36:47Speaker 3: is going to be greatly important as we move forward,
- 36:49Speaker 3: because I do believe it is something we need to
- 36:51Speaker 3: start paying attention to. I kind of want to take
- 36:55Speaker 3: this line disease conversation though, and as we close out here,
- 36:58Speaker 3: kind of run it back to the show, because you
- 37:00Speaker 3: obviously had just gotten your cochlear implants right before the
- 37:03Speaker 3: filming of the show, and you've said a couple of
- 37:06Speaker 3: things that I've jotted down here that are interesting me.
- 37:08Speaker 3: You said, if this would have happened a year previous,
- 37:11Speaker 3: you probably wouldn't be sitting where you are today, and
- 37:13Speaker 3: it would have gone a lot differently what I'm curious
- 37:19Speaker 3: and I'm going to say, and it's going to maybe
- 37:21Speaker 3: sound a little bit harsh, but I don't mean it.
- 37:24Speaker 2: I'm like, really curious.
- 37:25Speaker 3: I'm surprised that you could get cochlear implants, something that
- 37:29Speaker 3: is very vulnerable, something that you were you admitted to
- 37:31Speaker 3: being nervous about when it comes to you know how
- 37:34Speaker 3: people would view you. Yet you also had a confidence
- 37:39Speaker 3: that you've already mentioned during this interview to go on
- 37:42Speaker 3: the show with these and a better place than you
- 37:45Speaker 3: were a year previous. And so can you make all
- 37:47Speaker 3: that make sense to me? Because really, what I'm trying
- 37:49Speaker 3: to understand is at the place that you're at the
- 37:52Speaker 3: most vulnerable in your life with something happening in your
- 37:56Speaker 3: life that you're also very insecure about, you're also so
- 38:00Speaker 3: telling us that you were also ready to go on
- 38:03Speaker 3: and day on national television.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I don't understand, So explain it to me, please.
- 38:07Speaker 4: So I think, yeah, it can be confusing. When I
- 38:12Speaker 4: got my co clear implant and started learning with it,
- 38:16Speaker 4: it was like it was kind of like the world
- 38:18Speaker 4: reopened up to me because I was so sad for
- 38:21Speaker 4: such a long time and I was learning all of
- 38:24Speaker 4: these new things. But it was also before I went
- 38:26Speaker 4: on the show, I was at a place in my
- 38:27Speaker 4: life that I hadn't been at in a really long
- 38:30Speaker 4: time where I was happy, and so I knew going
- 38:33Speaker 4: on the show like, no matter how it went, nothing like,
- 38:37Speaker 4: I wasn't going to let anything affect that. And I
- 38:41Speaker 4: think that's why I was like garden Ways too. But
- 38:43Speaker 4: also it was just it was a really like life
- 38:46Speaker 4: changing time for me. And I also believed, like me
- 38:48Speaker 4: going on the show was happening for a reason, just
- 38:51Speaker 4: how everything had happened the last six months of my
- 38:54Speaker 4: life before going on the show. And I did go
- 38:58Speaker 4: back and forth about doing it, but the producers were awesome,
- 39:02Speaker 4: and even I think it was really special how they
- 39:05Speaker 4: showed because like lime disease isn't always recognized, and in
- 39:08Speaker 4: my like intro video, they had that in there, and
- 39:11Speaker 4: I think it was like it was a really big
- 39:13Speaker 4: moment for people, especially who have like autoimmune diseases too,
- 39:18Speaker 4: to see that and be like it's being recognized, and
- 39:20Speaker 4: it's not only being recognized, but it's on The Bachelor
- 39:22Speaker 4: on ABC, And I think that was a really huge thing.
- 39:25Speaker 4: But I remember being so nervous before it aired too,
- 39:30Speaker 4: because I was like, I'm like, I know where I'm at,
- 39:33Speaker 4: and I'm confident at where I'm at, but I don't
- 39:36Speaker 4: know how other people are going to take this. So
- 39:40Speaker 4: I don't know how does that make sense? But I
- 39:42Speaker 4: get what you're saying and how that can be confusing, Like, oh,
- 39:44Speaker 4: I felt so confident, but I also I think your
- 39:47Speaker 4: health and everything too is also a vulnerable thing. So
- 39:49Speaker 4: it's okay to be confident about it, but also be
- 39:54Speaker 4: like is this how it's going to go? Or is
- 39:57Speaker 4: it not how it's going to go. So it definitely
- 40:02Speaker 4: was a lot of emotions.
- 40:04Speaker 3: It feels like it, and I think that's where I
- 40:06Speaker 3: was coming from, is like it just feels like a
- 40:09Speaker 3: mixed bag of emotions you entering them into this whole, wild,
- 40:14Speaker 3: new experience and doing it with grace and confidence, risking
- 40:21Speaker 3: you know, the opposite of what happened to you actually happening,
- 40:24Speaker 3: which you know, I don't know if that was actually
- 40:25Speaker 3: a very viable concern. I think, you know, if you
- 40:29Speaker 3: would have if we would have met before filming, I
- 40:31Speaker 3: had been like, You're going to do great, Like this
- 40:32Speaker 3: is going to be great, You're going to have a blast,
- 40:34Speaker 3: But I still know that's a concern and it's still
- 40:38Speaker 3: a possibility, and so it does make sense. It's just
- 40:41Speaker 3: always been intriguing to me that you could step out
- 40:44Speaker 3: and do this like you did it in the midst
- 40:46Speaker 3: of what you also were talking about being some of
- 40:48Speaker 3: the most difficult years of your life.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Yeah, thank you.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's impressive you've said.
- 40:55Speaker 5: That Night one kind of freaked you out because the
- 40:58Speaker 5: noise was so intense and me feel very overwhelmed.
- 41:02Speaker 6: And then you went on.
- 41:04Speaker 5: Your you know, your country concert date was.
- 41:08Speaker 6: Early on scary for you. Did you feel like I'm
- 41:11Speaker 6: not going to.
- 41:12Speaker 5: Make it this far because I just like socially don't
- 41:14Speaker 5: feel like I'm up for it? Or was there was
- 41:18Speaker 5: what was the hardest part besides night one? And then
- 41:21Speaker 5: when did you start to feel a little bit more
- 41:23Speaker 5: at ease?
- 41:25Speaker 4: I think yeah, Night one was definitely the hardest part.
- 41:28Speaker 4: After I told him about everything, then it was easier
- 41:31Speaker 4: because I was like, he understands and if I am
- 41:34Speaker 4: struggling in a situation. And all the girls knew about
- 41:37Speaker 4: it too, and they were so uplifting about it. But
- 41:40Speaker 4: a part that always made me nervous is you don't
- 41:42Speaker 4: know what dates you're going in to do and so
- 41:47Speaker 4: a lot of people don't realize this, I feel like,
- 41:51Speaker 4: but especially for me with my hearing loss, like there's
- 41:54Speaker 4: certain areas that I hear better, and so my anxiety
- 41:57Speaker 4: going into the dates was probably different than a lot
- 42:00Speaker 4: of the other girls because my anxiety was like, are
- 42:03Speaker 4: we going to be somewhere I'm going to be able
- 42:04Speaker 4: to hear and be in the conversation with people, and
- 42:07Speaker 4: so that was always something I was nervous about that
- 42:10Speaker 4: I was always put on dates and most people were
- 42:13Speaker 4: like a music festival, You're bringing the girl with hearing
- 42:15Speaker 4: loves to the music festival. But I do really well
- 42:21Speaker 4: in those situations, especially if it's just one on one,
- 42:23Speaker 4: because I'm just focusing on one person basically, and so
- 42:26Speaker 4: it's easier for me to do that. But yeah, I
- 42:29Speaker 4: think going into different dates and not knowing what they
- 42:34Speaker 4: were going to be, I was always a little anxious
- 42:36Speaker 4: about am I going to be able to hear?
- 42:40Speaker 3: I will say I want to give credit to the
- 42:42Speaker 3: show here, and I don't know if you have this experience, Daisy,
- 42:44Speaker 3: and we are going to close up with you here
- 42:45Speaker 3: soon just a few more questions and kind of it's
- 42:48Speaker 3: a long interview because we're curious about you, But I
- 42:50Speaker 3: will want to give credit to the show. I had
- 42:52Speaker 3: gone on to my season of The Bachelorette with like
- 42:56Speaker 3: recently off of a surgery for an ACL tear, and
- 42:59Speaker 3: they were very accommodating, Like every date that we were
- 43:02Speaker 3: going on, even if I didn't exactly know what it was,
- 43:05Speaker 3: they would kind of give me hints like, hey, bang,
- 43:07Speaker 3: do you feel like you can cut like back and forth?
- 43:09Speaker 3: Do you feel like you can sprint? Do you feel
- 43:11Speaker 3: comfortable like in a like a tug of war type situation?
- 43:14Speaker 3: And they were always extremely accommodating to me and what
- 43:17Speaker 3: I needed. Did you feel the same way about kind
- 43:19Speaker 3: of your experience.
- 43:21Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely I did. And I think there were specific
- 43:26Speaker 4: dates that like I probably wasn't on where they did
- 43:30Speaker 4: well that would be like easier for me and more
- 43:32Speaker 4: like fitting, which I really appreciate. Yeah, and then also
- 43:35Speaker 4: I think sometimes I would get and it's like can
- 43:38Speaker 4: you put headphones on? Or I remember them being like
- 43:42Speaker 4: can you go in the water for a little bit
- 43:44Speaker 4: and take it off? And I was like, oh, I'm
- 43:46Speaker 4: doing something in water. But yeah, they always made sure
- 43:50Speaker 4: that I would feel comfortable, but I think it like
- 43:52Speaker 4: there's always going to be like even in my day
- 43:55Speaker 4: to day life, there's always that little bit of anxiety
- 43:57Speaker 4: even I'm like going out to dinner or something.
- 44:09Speaker 3: You know, Daisy, it happens from this show. Oftentimes you're
- 44:16Speaker 3: not the bachelorette. So life is your oyster. It is
- 44:19Speaker 3: wide open in front of you right now. There is
- 44:22Speaker 3: so many things that can happen. There's going to be
- 44:24Speaker 3: so many things that do happen, some associated with the show,
- 44:27Speaker 3: some not. But what the show always does is it
- 44:30Speaker 3: has this little magic to it, and it preps you
- 44:33Speaker 3: for love in the future, be that on Paradise or
- 44:38Speaker 3: be that in your normal life. Have you started dating,
- 44:43Speaker 3: Are you curious about dating? Do you feel more prepared
- 44:48Speaker 3: to fall in love than ever?
- 44:51Speaker 4: Yes, I do. I think I'm at like such a
- 44:54Speaker 4: good spot in my life. But I also think I
- 44:59Speaker 4: did learn about my self a lot for the show,
- 45:01Speaker 4: So no matter what, right now, I'm gonna put myself first.
- 45:04Speaker 4: But yeah, I have gone on dates and.
- 45:07Speaker 5: Okay, she's like giddy, she's like kind of giggly. You're
- 45:11Speaker 5: definitely thinking of one person in your head.
- 45:14Speaker 4: But yeah, I'm I don't know I'm interested to see
- 45:18Speaker 4: where life goes for me.
- 45:20Speaker 5: Okay, well, you seem like you're in a really good place.
- 45:23Speaker 5: Could we say that you've been on multiple dates with
- 45:25Speaker 5: the same person. Yeah, would you say that you could
- 45:29Speaker 5: be close to like being in a relationship.
- 45:34Speaker 4: I don't know. You never know how time's gonna go.
- 45:37Speaker 4: But I would say I'm happy right now and it's
- 45:39Speaker 4: looking positive.
- 45:41Speaker 2: But that's such a bachelor answer. I'm happy right now.
- 45:43Speaker 3: That's like what Jillie would have said on any talk
- 45:46Speaker 3: show four months ago. The interesting thing I picked up
- 45:50Speaker 3: on Ashley also is that Daisy's response to going on
- 45:53Speaker 3: Paradise was yeah, it sounds fun, but I'm not ready
- 45:57Speaker 3: right now, or I could it right now or something
- 45:59Speaker 3: like that.
- 45:59Speaker 5: So, so there's somebody in her head that she wouldn't
- 46:04Speaker 5: go on for, and I'm wondering if that person was
- 46:08Speaker 5: somebody that was in her head when she was making
- 46:10Speaker 5: the bachelorette decision as well.
- 46:12Speaker 4: No, so that I can actually say one hundred percent
- 46:15Speaker 4: that I made like on my own before I ever
- 46:21Speaker 4: wanted to think about anything with anyone else, because I
- 46:24Speaker 4: knew I was at this point in my life where
- 46:25Speaker 4: like I kind of had to be selfish and make
- 46:27Speaker 4: a decision for me and what was going to be
- 46:29Speaker 4: best for me. So I can say like that decision
- 46:33Speaker 4: was I definitely had nothing to do with my dating
- 46:37Speaker 4: life right now.
- 46:38Speaker 6: In my situation, I.
- 46:41Speaker 5: Had, you know, with Jared a moment where like I
- 46:44Speaker 5: went on the show without him and then I came
- 46:48Speaker 5: off of it and he realized that he was, you know,
- 46:51Speaker 5: just you know, missing out on the greatest thing that
- 46:54Speaker 5: he could have ever had. Yes, did you have anybody
- 46:59Speaker 5: come out of the would work that possibly like you
- 47:01Speaker 5: dated in the past, that you would kindle things with.
- 47:06Speaker 4: Well, I have quite a few people. Whatever happens, I
- 47:11Speaker 4: think time will tell, but yeah, I could see.
- 47:15Speaker 3: How do you know, to kind of close up this
- 47:17Speaker 3: dating conversation now where life takes you, how are you processing.
- 47:23Speaker 2: That they're they're in.
- 47:24Speaker 3: It for the right reasons, right, like people do come
- 47:27Speaker 3: out of the woodwork, and you showed well on this
- 47:31Speaker 3: show and you had a great experience, and you know,
- 47:34Speaker 3: people love you, and so how do you how are
- 47:37Speaker 3: you like mentally processing that this person is actually in
- 47:41Speaker 3: it for me and not the image of me or
- 47:44Speaker 3: the idea of me.
- 47:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I think, I mean, obviously I feel like everyone
- 47:51Speaker 4: on like the outside looking in, people might always think
- 47:54Speaker 4: that and say things, but I think I got that
- 48:00Speaker 4: when you like get to know somebody in a way
- 48:02Speaker 4: other people don't know them in that way. But yeah, no,
- 48:07Speaker 4: I get what you're saying, like, and I think dating
- 48:09Speaker 4: coming off of a show like this, especially when you
- 48:12Speaker 4: get the feedback I have gotten, like I'd be lying
- 48:16Speaker 4: in the back of my head if I wasn't like, oh,
- 48:18Speaker 4: this might be a little tricky. But so I think
- 48:22Speaker 4: that's like a fair question for sure, and something that
- 48:25Speaker 4: people will always think about. But I think for me,
- 48:28Speaker 4: navigating just like knowing who I am and knowing who
- 48:32Speaker 4: they are, Like if I feel like, if you really
- 48:37Speaker 4: look confident about something and confident in yourself, then you
- 48:42Speaker 4: won't go down that slope.
- 48:44Speaker 3: But it doesn't happen every time. There's good there's great
- 48:48Speaker 3: examples where it's backfired on somebody, Yeah, and they've dated
- 48:53Speaker 3: and it's gone poorly because somebody was just in it
- 48:55Speaker 3: for the wrong reasons. And then there's amazing examples of
- 48:59Speaker 3: people doing it and it working out to everybody's benefit.
- 49:03Speaker 3: It's just always the question that all your friends will ask.
- 49:07Speaker 3: You'll probably get asked to every single event you do
- 49:11Speaker 3: is how is dating Ben?
- 49:13Speaker 2: Post show?
- 49:15Speaker 4: I feel like it's a learning curve and people are
- 49:18Speaker 4: like so looking into your life. Especially I feel like
- 49:22Speaker 4: coming off the show, everyone like has inpu and something
- 49:25Speaker 4: to say. I know there's there's been like so many tiktoks.
- 49:28Speaker 4: My friends have said to me, it's just like a
- 49:30Speaker 4: random guy and he's like, finally with my girlfriend and
- 49:33Speaker 4: then the next picture is a picture of me.
- 49:35Speaker 2: I think that's a compliment. Take it as a compliment.
- 49:39Speaker 2: It is one. Enjoy it.
- 49:41Speaker 6: I want to wrap this on a very silly note.
- 49:43Speaker 5: We didn't talk about your music video yet, and we
- 49:45Speaker 5: don't have to die into it, but I do want
- 49:47Speaker 5: to say.
- 49:48Speaker 2: That was ridiculous, Daisy. What was the statement? I want
- 49:52Speaker 2: to well, no, no, he's too Yeah.
- 49:54Speaker 3: I want to know what it actually means, because Jess
- 49:57Speaker 3: and I talked it through and she had her ideas
- 49:59Speaker 3: and I had mine. They were very different, and I
- 50:01Speaker 3: was like, I actually don't know what it means. And
- 50:02Speaker 3: I would have been so upset if we did this
- 50:03Speaker 3: whole interview and never got clarity.
- 50:06Speaker 6: So you have to say the lyric out loud. Oh,
- 50:07Speaker 6: I have to say the lyric out loud.
- 50:09Speaker 4: Yeah, you can say that.
- 50:12Speaker 6: Beat this out, lick this off.
- 50:15Speaker 5: My note When you said when you saw that lyric
- 50:19Speaker 5: that was written and sung by your best friend since childhood,
- 50:23Speaker 5: who is you know, the musician that you did the
- 50:27Speaker 5: music video with.
- 50:29Speaker 6: You were like you were like.
- 50:31Speaker 2: What I remember?
- 50:33Speaker 4: I was kind of I was just like this is interesting,
- 50:36Speaker 4: and I remember thinking, you know me interesting and then
- 50:38Speaker 4: I remember telling you or my mom like listening to it,
- 50:41Speaker 4: and I remember it was my mom and my aunt
- 50:43Speaker 4: and my mom was like, I don't really know about
- 50:45Speaker 4: this one.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Day, Yeah, this one is there more.
- 50:51Speaker 4: I've always like made like music with them and stuff,
- 50:53Speaker 4: but there's not another one like that.
- 50:54Speaker 2: No, Okay, can we get on what it means?
- 50:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I honestly don't know eactly what it means. But
- 51:00Speaker 4: I can text him and ask him and then I
- 51:02Speaker 4: can report back.
- 51:04Speaker 2: Yeah, please report back. We'll break it down in the
- 51:05Speaker 2: next headlines. Day.
- 51:07Speaker 3: Can't verify that this means this, because I really don't.
- 51:12Speaker 3: I mean, I have some ideas and my mind goes
- 51:15Speaker 3: to like all I can do is have my.
- 51:17Speaker 4: Mind go to your idea is what you think they are?
- 51:19Speaker 4: And then I'll ask you. I'll ask him and then I.
- 51:21Speaker 6: Can tell you, yeah, it's like sex juice.
- 51:24Speaker 3: Okay, my question is, why are you looking at like mean,
- 51:31Speaker 3: I don't see the benefit.
- 51:32Speaker 2: I guess I don't see the health benefit. I don't
- 51:34Speaker 2: see the.
- 51:36Speaker 4: Deeply into the But now that I'm thinking into the yeah, yeah.
- 51:40Speaker 2: I'm going to text you Daisy my thoughts.
- 51:42Speaker 3: I would love for you to verify when that piece
- 51:47Speaker 3: of musical artistry was created what it actually meant, and
- 51:52Speaker 3: then we can actually I can sleep at night finally
- 51:55Speaker 3: after weeks of this. Okay, thank you, I appreciate this
- 52:00Speaker 3: final thing. Jin is the next bachelorette. Yeah, what can
- 52:04Speaker 3: we expect?
- 52:05Speaker 4: Do you think I'm really excited for? Like you said,
- 52:07Speaker 4: I feel like a lot of people don't know a
- 52:09Speaker 4: lot about her, and I think it'll be interesting to
- 52:13Speaker 4: see that. I also think since people don't know a
- 52:15Speaker 4: lot about her, it'll be interesting to see how she
- 52:17Speaker 4: navigates all of the relationships with so many different guys
- 52:23Speaker 4: and they're all probably gonna be so different from each
- 52:25Speaker 4: other because that's how it was on our season too.
- 52:29Speaker 4: But I'm excited to see how it all works out
- 52:32Speaker 4: for her, and I hope she gets her happily. Ever, after.
- 52:34Speaker 2: I hope so too.
- 52:35Speaker 4: I feel like there's gonna be something like, very very
- 52:37Speaker 4: dramatic that I don't know why I'm thinking of, but
- 52:40Speaker 4: I just think there is.
- 52:43Speaker 3: I'm gonna just rapid fire a few characteristic questions then
- 52:45Speaker 3: to get to know better, and you can just answer
- 52:48Speaker 3: yes or no.
- 52:48Speaker 2: Is she funny yes, that.
- 52:52Speaker 4: Like giggly like personality?
- 52:55Speaker 3: Is she collected like meaning? Will she be dramatic herself?
- 53:00Speaker 4: I think she's collected and composed, But I think if
- 53:03Speaker 4: she gets like pushed enough, I could see her like
- 53:06Speaker 4: not snapping, but I could see her getting sassity. Yeah,
- 53:10Speaker 4: I could see it getting dramatic.
- 53:12Speaker 2: And is she ready for love?
- 53:14Speaker 4: I would say, yeah, she's definitely ready for love.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Awesome, Daisy, thanks for coming on, Thanks for chatting with us.
- 53:21Speaker 2: Thank you, guys, appreciate it.
- 53:23Speaker 6: You're so sweet.
- 53:24Speaker 3: You are sweet, and that's why it's so confusing to
- 53:27Speaker 3: watch a music video with those lyrics.
- 53:30Speaker 4: Honestly, I think everyone needed to be shocked a little bit.
- 53:33Speaker 4: So I think it works out well.
- 53:36Speaker 6: Could she's just a daisy though, like she like? Could you?
- 53:40Speaker 6: Nobody could be more fitting for the name Daisy than you?
- 53:44Speaker 4: Thank you. It's actually didn't. When they got married, they
- 53:48Speaker 4: decided my dad would name the girls and my mom
- 53:50Speaker 4: would name the boys. So my dad named me Daisy.
- 53:53Speaker 4: My mom was like, absolutely not, and then a couple
- 53:55Speaker 4: of weeks later, she's like, she's definitely a daisy.
- 53:59Speaker 2: She's a daisy. You've got an edge.
- 54:02Speaker 3: I've always tried to create one or show one, and
- 54:05Speaker 3: sometimes it's worked, sometimes it doesn't. You've got an edge,
- 54:08Speaker 3: but you're also a daisy, and you are a terrific
- 54:11Speaker 3: asset to this franchise and also to the world, and
- 54:15Speaker 3: we appreciate you. And so until next time, I've been Ben.
- 54:18Speaker 6: I've been Ashley. She's my daisy. HI.
