- 3:00our good friend Hannah Gardner from the Canal Charleston Humaine Association with this week's Adopt
- 3:04Me Please Pet of the Week, Hanna, Good morning, welcome to the
- 3:07show. Good morning, how are you? By the way, I'm going
- 3:09fine. And by the way, I was told by one of our sales
- 3:13team upstairs, Tiera, that today is International Women's Day. And I was
- 3:17told by Tiera that to the women I have on the show, which would
- 3:22be you and Stephanie Casey from The Grind, who'll be in the second segment,
- 3:25I have to say, Happy International Women's Day. Well, thank you
- 3:30very much. Do you have big plans for International Women's Day? Probably to
- 3:34take pictures of Sheltered Dog's National Women's Day seek. Okay, I I was
- 3:39gonna say, just put all all female dogs up there. How's that?
- 3:43Yep, That's what I'm doing all right. So as always, we've got
- 3:46the picture posted. If you want to see the dog we're talking about this
- 3:50week, you can check it out on Dave Island Radio, on Facebook,
- 3:52and on the Dave Island Show at Dave A seventy on Axe the artists formerly
- 3:57known as Twitter. It is the story of Blue, Is that right?
- 4:01Yeah? Blue? Blue? Blue? All right? Blue is a beautiful
- 4:06dog. And I'm told by somebody upstairs because I mentioned the name Blue and
- 4:12they said, oh, that's I think it's like a kid show or something.
- 4:15Is that right? Because I don't know. I'm woefully inadequate in that
- 4:17department. It's a kid show or something, right? It sure is?
- 4:20Now? This Blue's name is spelt a little bit different. His is b
- 4:24o U e E bluey on the cartoon is a E y I believe,
- 4:30but I'll take your word for it. Tell us the story of Blue.
- 4:35So Blue is a male. He's about two years old. The dog that
- 4:44we did last week, which was Copper, he is actually he came in
- 4:47with him and they very much so look like brothers. They were surrendered to
- 4:51us. But Blue is playful with other dogs. He does pull re leash
- 5:00a little bit, but you know, with training, he can get better
- 5:02at that. He does show to be kids friendly. However, every single
- 5:06time that I say kid friendly, I always advise caution with that because you
- 5:11never know. And I always tell everybody just make sure that you know you're
- 5:15keeping an eye on every situation. When you do have a kid with a
- 5:19dog, you never know what could happen, and you always want to mind
- 5:24the dog as well as the kid as well. Yeah, exactly right.
- 5:27That's that's very important that you say that, because it's you can get in
- 5:30trouble for putting out a blank statement like that, saying, oh, he's
- 5:32great with kids. Well, you have a kid that you know is not
- 5:35so great to the dog. What do you what do you expect the dog
- 5:38to do? You know, they're gonna they're gonna they're gonna respond a little
- 5:42bit. But otherwise, I mean, looks like a fantastic dog. Hanna
- 5:45continue. Yes, Yes, everything that we say is everything that we've either
- 5:49witnessed at the shelter or witnessed like somebody has fostered or they've been adopted before.
- 5:57So we always say, you know, in shelter they seem to be
- 5:59kids. We don't know how it will be at home, but we always
- 6:01advog caution. But he is a weekend adventurer, what we consider him as.
- 6:06He likes to run around and play. He's, like I said,
- 6:10good with playful dogs. You're always welcome to bring your dogs up to do
- 6:14a meet and greet with any of the shelter dogs that we know would be
- 6:17all right to do so. But other than that, he's a very healthy
- 6:23boy as far as we know, and it would be amazing thing if he
- 6:27could get adopted. And I believe that he is. Let's see, I
- 6:33think he's around forty six pounds, so's he's a good sized dog. He's
- 6:38a medium I guess you could say dog. And he's just a really really
- 6:42sweet boy. So he's looking for a house, run around in and play.
- 6:46Now you mentioned that he is the brother of the dog that we focused
- 6:49on last week, Copper. Is Copper still available as well? Yes,
- 6:54Copper is still available. I mean I wonder how it would be if somebody
- 6:58had the room and whatever and adopted both of them at the same time.
- 7:00They definitely could, and we could even make sure that. I mean,
- 7:05of course they do well together. They came in together. We could even
- 7:09show you in the playyard how they do together. But other than that,
- 7:15you definitely should take a look at them both. They're very very and those
- 7:19would be perfect. I mean, they kind of look like hunting dogs a
- 7:21little bit, I mean to me, I mean, I don't mind know
- 7:25that for a fact, but they kind of got that that that look to
- 7:27them. I think that those dogs, either together or separately, would be
- 7:30great in an area as you said, with a large yard. Maybe somebody's
- 7:33got a little bit more rural property for him to run around. And this
- 7:38is not These aren't apartment dogs. I mean, I don't think. I
- 7:40mean, I think, uh, but if you live somewhere where you can
- 7:43take them out for a walk. And as you said, they're still kind
- 7:45of working on the on the least thing, but I'm sure they'll be fine.
- 7:47Are is blue fixed yet? Or will be? He will be.
- 7:51He's not quite fixed yet, but he will be. We always try to
- 7:55get him on the schedule before they leave, but if we cannot, we
- 7:59will let you know how we go about that when you come in to see
- 8:01them. All right. The Dave Alan Showing five eighty line brought to you
- 8:05a part by General Hardware of Winfield and Milton and General Lumber of Windfield.
- 8:09Whether you're getting your home ready for the warm weather months, or you have
- 8:11a project you're about to get under way, they can help locally, owed
- 8:13and operate a General Hardware and General Lumber. Visit General Hardware wv dot com
- 8:18and I see you guys had a bunch more strays taken in this week and
- 8:22their picture posted on your Facebook page. Folks, listen, listen to listen
- 8:26to your old radio pal Dave here. Okay, take care of your pets,
- 8:30and if you live in an area that you can't keep them fenced in
- 8:33and you can't watch them, please don't try to make them pets, because
- 8:35it just seems like we have so many strays, dogs, cats, and
- 8:39others that are dropped off at the shelter Hannah. We do. We have
- 8:43a lot of stres that are dropped off almost or actually pretty much every single
- 8:48day, and we always hold those dogs for five days for westerns and estate
- 8:54code. After that fifth day, they become available to the public. So
- 8:58hopefully if you do happen to lose your dog for whatever circumstances may be,
- 9:03then definitely check out our website there on our strays and as well as just
- 9:09come on up. I always tell everybody if you lost your dog and you
- 9:11don't know about the shelter or anything like that, hopefully maybe you hear from
- 9:16this or something, but definitely just come on up to the shelters. You
- 9:20don't even have to call, but just come on up because it's going to
- 9:22be better that you just get up there and look through all the channels and
- 9:26make sure that it's your dog or not. And what are your hours at
- 9:28the shelter? Here we are open Tuesday through Friday twelve to six and Saturday
- 9:33and Sunday twelve to five. And Hannah, we are a weekend a couple
- 9:37of days away. I guess from Saint Patrick's Day and I see that you
- 9:39have some special Canal Charleston Humane Association Saint Patrick's Day t shirts for sale and
- 9:45you can check those out on your social medium. Sure and your website proceeds
- 9:48benefit the shelter. Yes, we definitely. We do have a little like
- 9:52merch area on our website, so if anybody wants to go check that out,
- 9:56it definitely will help support the animals that can cha as well as the
- 10:01shelter just as a whole. But they are very, very cute. We
- 10:03have one that says happy Saint Kat Trick today for those that you don't want
- 10:07to follow them through the category of Pity's Day or something, and then we
- 10:13also have ones that are just like fir Mama and stuff like that, so
- 10:16definitely check it out. Yeah, we need to talk more about that.
- 10:18I didn't realize you had that much merchandise. We'll try to hit that from
- 10:22time to time. And finally, before we let you go, Hannah,
- 10:24what are we currently in need of the shelter. Of course, we're always
- 10:28in need of like laundry, detergent, purina dog chow. I know that
- 10:35we always, always, always will take in all of your sheets and blankets.
- 10:39That's something that isn't always must have because those go so fast. A
- 10:46lot of them we can't keep after the first use because maybe ever been with
- 10:50six animals, or they're just absolutely covered, so we can't keep them.
- 10:56So a lot of them only get one good use in them. So definitely
- 10:58bring them up if you have them, And that would be a good idea
- 11:01for people that are planning on doing spring I was about to say spring training.
- 11:05I'm in baseball mode spring cleaning. If you're going to replace your sheets
- 11:09or whatever and you just don't know what to do with them, take them
- 11:11to the shelter. Yeah, we will use them and the dog we'll enjoy
- 11:16that. I had a text here for you. For some reason, it
- 11:20just disappeared. Okay, yeah, this was a text to Dave. Can
- 11:24I also ask anyone that if you hit a dog or cat, please stop
- 11:28to check on them. If you cannot take them to a vat, please
- 11:30call the humane officer, the non emergency nine one one line or a rescue
- 11:35because a lot of them are found on Facebook. Very good advice from a
- 11:37listener there, Hanna. I appreciate you the calling in as always, have
- 11:41yourself a great International Women's Day and we'll talk again next week. Thanks a
- 11:46lot awesome. Thank you had a gardener from the Colin charlest Yumaine Association again.

- 16:52it is it is. We've been anticipating this day and it's here. We're
- 16:56ready to show off this new team. Uh. These guys are amazing.
- 17:00Some of them will jump out of the sky. I mean, it's a
- 17:03different caliber of athletes. You're gonna want to come and see him on the
- 17:06floor tonight. And I do want to mention this last week in the very
- 17:08chair that mister Frampton is setting in sat Keyshawn Bryant and he was hoping to
- 17:14make a splash for the Grind this season. Well he made such a splash.
- 17:18He's already got called up to the NBA's LA Clippers. So good news
- 17:22for him, Stephanie and I know as badly as you wanted to have him
- 17:26playing for the Grind this season. But that's what it's all about, though,
- 17:27is giving these young men the exposure that they need to move forward.
- 17:32And he's moved on up. That is the purpose of the league. We
- 17:36talked about that being the TBL. The Basketball League is a showcase league.
- 17:40So these guys get their film, they get their stats, they are building
- 17:42their resume so that they can move up. We were hoping that he didn't
- 17:45move quite so quickly so that everybody can kind of see him fly through the
- 17:49gym. But we're really proud of and more excited for him, so we
- 17:52wish him all the best. Here's what I take from this. They makes
- 17:53one appearance on this show and the LA Clippers call him out. That's what
- 17:57it was. I was thinking that. I was thinking, it's exactly exactly
- 18:00what I would talk to this guy, Luke Frampton. As I said to
- 18:03the beginning the show, Luke certainly no stranger to basketball fans here in the
- 18:07Kanal Valley. Give us your basketball bio, sir. Yeah. So I
- 18:10went to PoCA from I graduated in twenty seventeen. I played there for four
- 18:15years, and then out of high school, I went to Davidson College in
- 18:18North Carolina, played there for two years, and then I transferred to Western
- 18:22Kentucky. Finished out my college career there, graduated from there. And so,
- 18:26so you did the collegiate thing and two different universities. And I know,
- 18:32once you're a ballplayer of any kind, you rarely ever put down the
- 18:34ball, whether it's football, baseball, or basketball. So you're still playing.
- 18:37What were you doing in the interim just shooting hoops from Yeah, basically
- 18:41you could basically. So my last year Western, I actually tore my aco.
- 18:45Yeah, so I was out for nine months doing rehab and whatnot,
- 18:48and thankfully I got the call for the ground and now I'm here. So
- 18:52what's it been like so Far's been good, man, It's been good.
- 18:56It's been really exciting. I know, we got a good group of guys
- 18:57that are willing to do whatever it takes to win, and that's what I'm
- 19:00excited for. And like she said, it's it's an exposure league, and
- 19:04you know, that's what we're all here for to try to make it to
- 19:07the next level. Now. And now I know that as you said,
- 19:10as I said before, as you know, athletes never really put down their
- 19:11sport. They're still playing it one form or never. But when you tour
- 19:15your ACL you may have thought, okay, that's it. Yeah, especially
- 19:18it being my last year at college ball, I didn't know what I was
- 19:22going to do, and thankfully I had a good group of people down there
- 19:25taking care of my knee and my mental health was a big thing for me.
- 19:29Like I said, I thought I was done, and I had the
- 19:30right people telling me, you know, you can still do this, you
- 19:32can still make money playing this game. And uh, you know, I
- 19:34just believe in myself so much that you know, that's what I'm here doing.
- 19:37Is the knee fully healed now Yeah, it's getting there. It's getting
- 19:41there. The more I play, the more comfortable I get. At first,
- 19:44I was a little bit shaky, a little bit iffy on it.
- 19:45But the more the more I play, the easier it gets. Definitely talk
- 19:48about the importance of having a local guy on this team. When we first
- 19:53built the West Virginia Grind, it was about local guys, right and last
- 19:59year starting out the season, we started out a little bit late, but
- 20:00we had a few more local guys last year really to let the people know
- 20:07here in Charleston and in the area, in the Canall Valley in West Virginia,
- 20:11there is a place that you can go after your collegiate career and you
- 20:14can get into the professionals. So I thought that was important to have that
- 20:17accessibility here in the area. And it's nice because everywhere I go, you
- 20:22know, people like, oh, I heard Luke's playing for you. I
- 20:25heard Luke play. I said, I didn't know you were a celebrity around
- 20:26these this way, So you know, he knows a lot of folks,
- 20:30which is great. We love that we've got a couple other local players.
- 20:33Will Collins, he's also on the team and he's getting a huge following on
- 20:37social media. Also, he has a lot of support in the area.
- 20:41And then Chris Johnson and Frank they have been around here for a little while.
- 20:45Frank played at West Virginia State University, so they live in the community,
- 20:48as well as James Moore. He was from South Charleston and so he
- 20:52played a little bit elsewhere and now he's back as well. So we're excited.
- 20:56We've got a couple of local guys that we showcased on the work and
- 20:59that always helped sell tickets. I mean it does. I mean it's it's
- 21:02an exciting brand of basketball on the tvl no matter where the players are from,
- 21:06but no matter what the city is too. It always helps to sell
- 21:07tickets. When you say, hey, there's a name I knew when you
- 21:10came in last year or last week you told me about Luca. I've never
- 21:12met Luke until literally ten minutes ago, but I certainly knew the name,
- 21:17and I said, oh you got I told you last week I was become
- 21:18fanboy. I said, oh you got Luke Frampton. That's awesome. That's
- 21:22awesome. And these other local guys as well, that's a big part of
- 21:23it, right, bring their Grandma's, their aunts and their because of you
- 21:26know, all the people. So hoes your family feel about you playing around.
- 21:30They're excited, they're excited, they're they're they're able to come see me.
- 21:33Probably probably much happier that you're here instead of playing in like Milan.
- 21:36Yeah, exactly right, Yeah, instead of across the world. But yeah,
- 21:40Dave Allen showing five eighty live broad to apart by Hustan's Pizza Get an
- 21:41eighteen inch Pepperoni pizza and a pizza bowl only twenty two ninety nine. Fine,
- 21:45you're nearest Hussan's at Husson's Pizza dot com for delivery, pickup or for
- 21:49dying in. So, Stephanie, what do we have on tap for the
- 21:52games tonight? So away from the game, I mean, I know about
- 21:56the game, but I mean because there's always a big spectacle that goes on,
- 21:59what can fans expect when to come out tonight? So this one's a
- 22:02fun one. This is because of Michael Carey law. We all the kids
- 22:04are getting free. So I've had some AAU teams call me from Huntington.
- 22:08So I am expecting quite a few kids there tonight. I know there are
- 22:11five teams that are coming from one area in Huntington and some of the folks
- 22:15that I've talked to, So it's going to be a kids night for sure.
- 22:18We've got what he is going to be our DJ, so he will
- 22:21be there tonight. Know any better than that, I know he's got to
- 22:23be here now what he's one of our brothers up here. I'm glad to
- 22:26see what he's involved there. Yeah, and I love it goes with Woody
- 22:30will come five thousand other people because that's the way what he woulds is well
- 22:33and that is true, and he was so supportive last year and we appreciate
- 22:36his help, and so he'll be there again tonight, which is exciting.
- 22:38And then and then we've got a group of little dancers that are going to
- 22:41be coming in to do our halftime show from some local dance companies. So
- 22:45we're going to be showcasing some folks like that throughout the season. So we're
- 22:49excited for that. And I'm always amazing. I talk about this all the
- 22:52time. And Luke, you know, you've played in a lot of different
- 22:55arenas. Walker Convocation Center ain't a bad place to play. Yeah, Yeah,
- 22:59we played there. We actually played there on my sophomore year when I
- 23:00was at poker, we played Robert C. Byrd and Uh we played a
- 23:04pretty good game there. It's it's a nice arena. It is. UH
- 23:07got a text here for you, Lucas. It says, uh, Luke
- 23:10a great player for the Dots and will be a wonderful player and ambassador for
- 23:14the ground. I appreciate it all right. Apparently I told this guy was
- 23:18popular one, David. It's great to have a Dot on the team.
- 23:22Luke's poka team was incredible. Yes, sir, fact it was your guy.
- 23:25What was your highlight of your basketball career? Probably went in the state
- 23:27championship my sophomore year. We went twenty seven and no, we were the
- 23:30first one to do it in like twenty years or something like that. So
- 23:33do you still follow the tournaments and kind of keep up with Yeah, So
- 23:37coach Osborne is still there down at poker, and he was my coach from
- 23:38my freshman to junior year, and then I had a different coach with my
- 23:41senior year, coach Ragel, But me and coach Osborne are still close.
- 23:45We talked about once a week. Yeah, and well, this year it's
- 23:48already been decided that my alma mater, the Logan Wildcats are winning and all
- 23:52you know, yeah, I mean, Poker's out of it, so they
- 23:53might they might have a chance. I don't know about all that, about
- 23:56all that, but but it's gonna be a great night tonight. And I
- 24:00just I'm always excited, you know, to help you guys out because I
- 24:03just think it's such a great thing for the Canah Valley. I mean,
- 24:07we've got so many other things going on, but this is something again,
- 24:11Stephanie and we talked about this before bringing the kids out, and because of
- 24:14the Michael Career Law Firm, the kids get to come out and enjoy the
- 24:17game for free tonight, but getting them involved in general, and I think
- 24:21sometimes maybe Luke you went away in this as well. I think when people
- 24:23they think about professional athletics, they only think about the NBA and they think
- 24:29that's my and again, that's the ultimate goal. You'd still like to be
- 24:32there, I mean, that's that's still the ultimate goal. However, there
- 24:36is fun and there is money and other aspects to be had to be made
- 24:41on a level like with the Grind. And I think too these guys are
- 24:45in the community. I mean last week we got the opportunity to work as
- 24:48field managers for the soccer tournament down at Shawnee and that was some good times.
- 24:52And so we're in the community and we're doing some things with after school
- 24:56care, working with the Department of Education, and there are some other opportunity
- 25:00that are coming up here that we're excited about. It's making connections for these
- 25:03guys too. They're getting in the communities and meeting perhaps people that they wouldn't
- 25:07have otherwise met. And I'm all about networking. You never know who you're
- 25:10going to meet and what door that might open. And so now this is
- 25:12the home opener. Have you already opened the season? We have not.
- 25:15This is every game of the season, remember, okay, So and then
- 25:18then you start hitting the road. Win we do. We go on the
- 25:22road to Frederick, Maryland on Sunday. The Flying Cows, I love it.
- 25:26I love it, the Flying Cows, I love I love these names
- 25:27we talked about so, I mean, I love the name of the grind
- 25:32and I love the logo. And we're going to talk about the merchandising here
- 25:33in a couple of moments, but I will say Flying Cows is a pretty
- 25:37darn good name, and so maybe we need to look at something like that
- 25:40in the future. But the Grind's not bad. I love the Grind.
- 25:41Talk about the merchant you guys are are are sporting the merchandise here today.
- 25:47I didn't get my T shirt this week. Maybe maybe next time, but
- 25:49it's a great logo. Where can people get merchandise for the Grind? So
- 25:52on our website we now have a store open, So if you follow us
- 25:56on Instagram at WV Grind and then also on Facebook, we have a great
- 26:00page. You could get stuff for the toddlers. You could get hot shirt,
- 26:03shorts, all the fun things are on there and available, and then
- 26:06we will be having some shirts for sale at the game. Also we're bringing
- 26:10that merchandise there. Luke, you said this was a great team and a
- 26:14great bunch of guys to be around. What is it that makes this team
- 26:17so special in your opinion, I think it's just we're so close already.
- 26:21We've been you know, we've been around each other for only a couple of
- 26:22weeks, and it feels like family already, And I think that's the biggest
- 26:26thing, especially being in this community. It's especially being from Poco. It
- 26:30was once a Dot, always a Dot, and you always had that following
- 26:33with you, and I think that's what makes this group so great. Yeah,
- 26:36and it's going to be a great, great night and a great season.
- 26:38Now. So you play at home tonight, and when is the next
- 26:41home game? The next game home game will be March twenty first, March
- 26:45twenty first, and then but then you go on the road to take on
- 26:48Flying Cows. Yeah, something of that nature. Well, guys, I
- 26:51appreciate you being here and I wish you the best of Lucky Luke. It's
- 26:53always great to have a some not only Luke, but others, some local
- 26:57names on the team as well. And I know there's going to be a
- 27:00whole lot of Dots probably out there tonight now, no doubt. Everybody I've
- 27:03seen through PoCA this week telling me they were going to come. So that's
- 27:07great. Bat in a big crowd and doors open at six o'clock, six
- 27:10o'clock and the tip off is at seven. That's seven and the Walker Convocation
- 27:14Center on the campus of West Virginia State. And as I always say,
- 27:15to use one of the oldest sports cliches, guys, there's not a bad
- 27:18seat in the house. I mean, I was just there as that Stephane
- 27:21and I talked about last week. I was just there last month for the
- 27:22palm Our shoot out. There. There are no bad seats in that facility.
- 27:26It is a fan and plenty of parking, no issues there, so
- 27:30great, great things going on out there. Stephanie is always I appreciate you
- 27:33being here, my pleasure. Thank you for having us. Luke, welcome
- 27:36home. Thanks here and enjoy enjoy the season. It's gonna be a great
- 27:40season. Name sure. All right again? The Grind tonight at the Walker
- 27:44Convocation Center on the campus of West Virginia State and doors open at six o'clock
- 27:48and tip off is at seven. Give us the website and the social media

- 31:49Dear Lord Security, our man Steve Animal from her sister Station nine eighty seven,
- 31:53A mouth and wild and wonderful classic rocks. Sir Steven, good morning,
- 31:57huh rise and I'm good. I'm good. Late night down at Bar
- 32:02one on one last night for our annual first and third Thursday's Downtown Great crowd,
- 32:08Great time. Why are you holding your head. I was there till
- 32:12almost midnight last night. Then the alarm went off at four, So yeah,
- 32:20it makes for some long night, especially when you're your age. Oh,
- 32:24all the elements of humor we were down there, except for the funny
- 32:28part. We were down there last night, of course at borrow one on
- 32:30one, and we're there the first and third thursdays of every month bar one
- 32:35on one, hanging out with the folks down there, and I got to
- 32:37make an appearance down there last night myself. I got out of there way
- 32:39before you did, though, yes, because I'm old and my couch is
- 32:44calling. So I was out of there by about eight or eight thirty,
- 32:45so you knew that nearby. I was like, I was like, I'm
- 32:49gone, I need to I'm out. I'm survived, Thanks for coming out.
- 32:52And we had our man Rob Real from our sister station ninety six one
- 32:58KWS was there. Shockley for the Mountain was there, and somehow the president
- 33:02of the company, the main guy, the guy that's over all of this
- 33:06WVRC media, walked in. I thought for sure he was coming into fire
- 33:08us all. That's exactly what I thought was gonna happen. But George hung
- 33:12out with us last night and had had a delicious dinner. So we appreciate
- 33:15George being I'm just like I'm like you. I just I get nervous when
- 33:20the executive has come around because I'm I'm thinking, Okay, that's it,
- 33:22We're done. I was walking over with a tray of shots. I thought
- 33:25that might be a bad itea all right, So Johnny Mack too, our
- 33:30engineer. Johnny Mack was there, our esteemed engineer before we move in.
- 33:35And there's a reason why I have you on the show today before we get
- 33:37into that. Uh, it is the birthday of one of our own.
- 33:40Actually it's we're one day away from the birthday of one of our own up
- 33:44their myths, Carrie. Who a second, it's celebrating a birthday tomorrow,
- 33:50I think. And she should come out tonight. Carlo green Well. I
- 33:53actually talked to her a little bit earlier and I asked her if she was
- 33:57going to be going home to New Jersey and she said, uh, she
- 34:00family that was going to be coming in hanging out with her this weekend.
- 34:01So I don't know. She's busy in the newsroom. But miss Carrie,
- 34:05if you're listening right now, you and the family have an invitation to come
- 34:08out to the reason I have mister Animal on today to talk about and this
- 34:12is this big thing going on in St Albans. So you have officially been
- 34:15invited. Carrie who to second Happy early birthdays? You want to say happy
- 34:17birthday to her, we can have I'm not saying happy birthday. Sorry,
- 34:22all right, We're done, Happy birthday, Happy birthday, Carrie. All
- 34:24right? So what's going on in St Albans? And I'm mister Saint Albans.
- 34:28Tonight, Main Street, Saint Albans, seven o'clock, Be there,
- 34:30be there, be there. It's Crawlo Green, which means it's our Saint
- 34:35Patti's Day pub crawl party. Proceeds going to benefit the Alban restoration project.
- 34:40The old facade of the theater needs some help and work, and so does
- 34:45the inside. So we're doing everything we can with the pub crawls to get
- 34:50that thing back up to speed. There'll be games tonight, costume contest,
- 34:52door prizes, our very own DJ act right, we'll be there. I'm
- 34:57sister station to Beat. Yep, he'll be there, jeb I got to
- 35:00thank him from Intoxic Taxi and Link. They will be standing by for anyone
- 35:05who might need their assistance tonight. So it's very important that if you come
- 35:08out get an event like this that you either have a designated driver or you
- 35:14take advantage of the service that they have there. Absolutely and anyone who will
- 35:17help anyone who needs it. So all the restaurants are participating, including Shuckers,
- 35:22Cosimel, the Cafe, Cole River Coffee, the Tap and drummis So
- 35:28all sorts of drink specials. Proceeds, like I said, go to benefit
- 35:30the Alvin restoration project. Twenty five bucks gets you a T shirt and a
- 35:35cup and some drink specials at all the establishments. So for people that have
- 35:38never been to one of these pub Carls and I understand all the Jennifer exactly.
- 35:43How does the thing work? You just come up, show up.
- 35:46You can actually go online to the Facebook page if you want to go to
- 35:51give butter dot com. I think Forward Slash Carlo Green twenty four You can
- 35:57get your tickets there or just show up with credit card or cash and at
- 36:02the registration table right in front of the Alven and you get a T shirt.
- 36:07Like you said, it's mainly a fundraiser and a good time to come
- 36:09out and drink. Like I said, just in case the weather gets a
- 36:14little crazy, which I don't think it's supposed to. I was looking ahead
- 36:16at the weather and I think that it looks like we're gonna have some rain
- 36:21overnight, but hopefully see possibly a passing shower at six. But otherwise that
- 36:27was and less than two tenths of an inch of rain, so it's nothing
- 36:31so but it's kind of cool. The DJ on the street, there's other
- 36:36games and stuff going on, and it's just basically a party in the street.
- 36:39It is. And the way that that that area Old Main and the
- 36:43whole area there is set up, it's just really designed for that because you're
- 36:45kind of away from the main thoroughfare there out on sixty and you just basically
- 36:51close down the streets. And they do that several times a year in Saint
- 36:53albums for various events, and so it's say, if you don't have to
- 36:57worry about traffic and things of that nature, everybody just comes and has a
- 37:00good time. Nope, we have a police there to redirect traffic, so
- 37:04everybody has a great time. And even get a text from my buddy Mike
- 37:07Wendell. He got four tickets this morning, so he'll be on the street
- 37:13too, so you should join me. Yeah, absolutely, and the DJ
- 37:15act right as you said from our sister station, the Beaty is going to
- 37:19be there pumping out all the tumbes. Busy night for those guys, because
- 37:22Woody is going to be over at the West Virginia Grinds first home game tonight,
- 37:27And so if you're heading out for that, I mean, I know
- 37:30the way these things work. I mean, you start at what time tonight?
- 37:31The post starts at seven and goes to eleven, but they, you
- 37:35know, the bars and restaurants are still going to be open all night.
- 37:37So the Grinds game is at seven, it'll be over in a couple hours.
- 37:40If you go out to see the grind tonight or the State turn whatever
- 37:44did you do and you still got time? Yes, absolutely, because I
- 37:46know the way these things work, especially if a certain announcer whose initials are
- 37:52Essay are involved. It ain't going to end at eleven. It's going to
- 37:54go like, well, well beyond that much later. But yeah, it's
- 38:00And if you haven't been to Saint Albans, a lot of good stuff going
- 38:01on between the pub crawl forthcoming. We also have on some of the different
- 38:07notes. We have dog Ball coming up, part of the chili cookoff thing
- 38:15we do for the fundraiser for the police department we do every year with fall
- 38:17y'all, so that's coming. We have Yakfest coming up this summer. We
- 38:22have Tour de Coal coming, so lots of good things happening. I refer
- 38:25to you in the intro as and again we're talking with Steve Annible from nine
- 38:30eight seven A Mountain Wild, wonderful classic GROC. I prefer to use mister
- 38:31Saint Albans, but you are all things Saint Albans man. I mean you've
- 38:36you know, how many of you actually lived in Saint Albans thirty four years
- 38:40I guess. So you were working at the other station over there, and
- 38:44you settled in that area and you just never laughed man. I mean you're
- 38:47kind of a fixture in that community. Yes, I have been. Let's
- 38:51see, we're on the rotary the chamber. Also Police Civil Service Commissioner.
- 38:55We do all sorts of suff Sorry that you tell me that you're on the
- 39:00that you're the police Civil Service Commissioner. I have to laugh a little bit.
- 39:02So if you're looking to have a career as a police officer. We
- 39:06are doing some hiring coming up too, so yes, yeah, So if
- 39:09you're tired of being arrested by them and do you want to become one,
- 39:14I'll show you the path. But what is it about Saint Albans? I
- 39:17mean that you like so? Well, here's here's your chance to give them
- 39:21a little little love. Mister Chamber of Commerce with Saint Albans. What do
- 39:23you so much about Saint Albans. So when they moved me here, you
- 39:27know, me and my little U haul trucking down. They put me up
- 39:29at the Ramatta and said go find a place. It's like okay. Well
- 39:32six weeks later they were very annoyed. I still had not found a place,
- 39:37but man room service was awesome. I was like, I can't get
- 39:40this an apartment. But I actually looked all over the valley, went went
- 39:45to rand went to the valley, hit cross lanes and uh it just trying.
- 39:52I liked Saint Albans just it was off the beaten path. You didn't
- 39:54have the traffic flying through it. You're if you're coming to St Albans,
- 39:59you're going there for a reason either you live there, or there's something going
- 40:02on, you're just not passing. You just don't have the through traffic like
- 40:06a lot of other cities. So and there is always something going on in
- 40:09St. Albans, I mean, yeah, I mean it's it's amazing to
- 40:13me that there's always some sort of activity. Talk about this Alban Theater.
- 40:16I know Adam Brian very well is very good friend of mine, and this
- 40:20whole thing that you're doing, as far as the proceeds from this thing that
- 40:22Gouda benefit the restoration projects of the Alban Theater. Talk about that well,
- 40:27a lot of city projects through the years, they just weren't funded, they
- 40:30weren't kept up. The money wasn't there, the foresight wasn't there, it
- 40:36wasn't used for a while. Then you know, thank god the city actually
- 40:39hired Adam to do the theater project and it's just evolved and now we have
- 40:44the Alban Academy across the street from the high school. We've actually done some
- 40:50donations and fundraisers for kids to actually go to the academy to get into acting.
- 40:55Gives them something to do other than not doing anything or just you know,
- 41:00left to their own demise, you know, playing on their phone,
- 41:04get them off the devices for a little bit. Well, absolutely, because
- 41:06a lot of kids need the social interaction. Their social skills are horrible.
- 41:10They don't interact. They don't look at you, you know, they talk
- 41:14to their feet and it's like hey, hey up here, look eyes up,
- 41:16eyes up. So they don't have that. But programs like this give
- 41:22kids the ability to interact with each other, have fun, do something that's
- 41:25you know, crazy, and you know, maybe there'll be another radio personality
- 41:30of all out of it. I wouldn't wish this sickness on anyone. I'm
- 41:37actually kid, I'm actually kidding about that with me. I'm crying, all
- 41:39right. So how are things going at the Mountain. The mountain is awesome.
- 41:43We are having a lot of fun, which is a lot of people
- 41:45are finding us. They're still discovering that the station is there. At ninety
- 41:50eight point seven. A lot of people still think, oh I thought it
- 41:52was still to beat. No, we moved Woody up the dial to one
- 41:55oh seven to three, and a lot of people don't know he's there.
- 41:58So tele a friend and tell two friends like our Facebook page. I mean
- 42:04a couple of weeks ago, Leo Browning we were nice enough to stumble across
- 42:07him and his Hooters ride. That was man, it's still going on.
- 42:12Yesterday the Washington Post, I guess slow news Day put the Hooters thing in
- 42:15there. So this thing is I talked about it just kind of evolved and
- 42:20it was just kind of kind of tongue in cheek. You or I did
- 42:22not know Leo or the other gentleman. We do drew it. Oh yeah,
- 42:27we know him now. And he had started his candlelight vigil and we
- 42:30said, hey, you know, because I do some work on the mountain
- 42:34as well, so I'd love to come out. So we go out there
- 42:36and and all these news crews show up, and I mean it was awesome.
- 42:40There was people from like West Virginia, Wesleyan University came down in a
- 42:44van, which I'm sure their parents are very thrilled about. Three buses the
- 42:46baseball team from wesley and thank you dudes. Rock and as Animal said,
- 42:52yeah, and you were on Jimmy Kimmel. Yes, they picked up the
- 42:57video feed of me crying. I'm gonna actually I'm gonna see if I can
- 43:00follow up. I know this week he's actually been working on the oscars coming
- 43:05up but next week I'm going to see if I can get flown out there
- 43:07so I can finish my cry in his chest. If you want to see
- 43:10that, by the way, you can go to the Mountain Facebook page and
- 43:13it's pinned to the top there. Animals appearance on Jimmy Kimmel. But yeah,
- 43:15it was, and again, as Animals said to, Washington Post actually
- 43:20ran a story on it, which, by the way, I'm going to
- 43:22go ahead and say this, and I'll let you go because I know you
- 43:22good stuff to do. I will say this about this. If you go
- 43:27to the Washington Post story on the whole Hooters thing and you read the comments,
- 43:30it's very, very insulting to West Virginia. Look, if you didn't
- 43:35like Hooters the restaurant, or you didn't like the whole concept, that's fine.
- 43:37The number of people that took the opportunity to insult West Virginia that I
- 43:42know, damn well has never even been in West Virginia really really angry.
- 43:46And I don't get offended by stuff like that, but stuff like that does
- 43:50bother me. It's like, Oh, this is higher education of West what
- 43:52do you expect. It's West Virginia and it's like the keyboard. Look,
- 43:57Brook, have you ever been to West Virginia? You know what the hell
- 43:59you're talking about? The keyboard cowards. I call them pound away on the
- 44:04keyboards. But well, I'll let that go now. And upset me and
- 44:07upset me, and did upset me again? If you don't like it,
- 44:10just if everybody takes every opportunity to trash West Virginia, you know, and
- 44:15it just it just bothers me. A lot of people who've never even they've
- 44:19never seen the New River, they've never seen all Seneca Rocks, they've never
- 44:22been to Snowshoe, they've never seen all these other great things we have in
- 44:25West Virginia. You just know what you read or what you think is true,
- 44:30and you just run with it. It just bothers me, man.
- 44:32And most great grandmothers or grandmothers or mothers will tell you if you don't have
- 44:37anything nice to say, don't see it. You know, looking at you.
- 44:42The chicks from msn or from MSNBC earlier this week at gen Jinsaki and
- 44:47Rachel Maddow and Joy read we're looking straight at you when we say that we're
- 44:52watching it. We're on our way, and let's just load up the truck
- 44:53and get Anthony, get the keys. We're gonna go kick some butt,
- 44:58all right, all right, so let's talk about pub Crawl wrapping up.
- 45:00Yes, pub Crawl coming up tonight, seven o'clock start time. You can
- 45:04come out early. Bars and restaurants will of course be open. It's the
- 45:07Saint Patti's Day pub Crawled. Like you said, DJ act right, we'll
- 45:10be playing music on the street. There's games, costume contest prizes too,
- 45:15so come dressed up as your favorite Irish woman or man and or leprechaun or
- 45:21whatever you want to be. And yeah, it's going to be a good
- 45:23time. Like you said in Toxic Taxi, we want you to drink responsibly,
- 45:27so Link will be there to make sure everybody has a good time.
- 45:30But all the restaurants, Chuckers, Cosmel, Cafe, Cole River, Drummies
- 45:35and tap all participating this evening, and you'll be out there right in the
- 45:37middle of all of them. I'm going to be out there. Look for
- 45:40me. I will be probably double fisting and you know, I'll have one
- 45:45in each hand, and you know, if you'd like to carry a drink
- 45:47for me outpate doing it responsible absolutely, and the mountain truck will be there
- 45:51and somebody else will be driving the mountain trucks more than likely. Yeah,
- 45:53because it's not going to be me. All Right, animal, I appreciate
- 45:58it. We'll see you tonight in Saint Albums and It's nine point fifty three

- 49:59all right two. The State of the Union last night. I watched the
- 50:02whole thing, and if you did not, let me summarize the reaction of
- 50:06the American public. If you're a Republican, it was the worst speech ever,
- 50:12a total embarrassment. If you're a Democrat, it was the best speech
- 50:16ever. What an awesome job, and that's why we are where we are.
- 50:21I do find it funny, though that my Republican brethren are making fun
- 50:24of the Biden's speech and the delivery, which, trust me, I watched
- 50:29the whole thing, there was plenty to make fun of. But have you
- 50:32seen Trump speak lately? For that matter, have you seen Trump walk lately?
- 50:38And please don't come at me with this pathetic old man stuff if you

- 51:45they tell us, we wead a meeting about this yesterday. I'm going to
- 51:49be on camera. Yes, this is actually going to be a viable,
- 51:52certifiable television broadcast. Yeah, and you're you're gonna have to like lose weight
- 51:59d a few there, Chunky. Well, luckily they told me yesterday.
- 52:02They said that they're only going to be able to see the hosts kind of
