- 0:41Welcome back to a hamster with him.
- 0:44Drunk dropping off. Welcome back to am stuff with a
- 0:53blunt penknife. I'm Mark.
- 0:57Oh, straight here to talk to Coventry podcast.
- 1:02Okay, can we please start this again?
- 1:13I've got a question for you. Yeah.
- 1:15Well, do you imagine right? The wives of the Great's of
- 1:19Doctor, Who this time I'm talking about Carrie Nation
- 1:25finish for this Hinchcliffe. I'm Roberta Holmes, who got
- 1:32together? Yeah.
- 1:34When have you seen it for a million people?
- 1:36Watch this week, terrible at ho Terry is still not finished his
- 1:39Dear as they, there's a Roberto homes.
- 1:42Yeah, he's waiting for it. Philip Hinchcliffe.
- 1:46Slight, always getting greyer all the time.
- 1:48Working with this pair. Then I have a serious question
- 1:52for you though. A genuine.
- 1:53Okay here is question. Well, it's about know you and I
- 1:57have already discussed on talents pointing triangle
- 1:59saluton Malloy. Yeah, it's, that's a look more
- 2:03noise. Again, about part fours.
- 2:06Of Philip, Hinchcliffe time and how perhaps they As satisfying
- 2:11as the part ones, right? Yeah.
- 2:14Never before has this been exemplified more than in the
- 2:18Android Invasion where we have already discussed, how the part
- 2:21one is pretty for - killer this part for well what can you say?
- 2:30Well it's because everything has been revealed, hasn't it all the
- 2:33suspense is go. The exact are in a true story
- 2:37and now it's just right. We need to just get To the
- 2:39finish line and wrap everything up.
- 2:41There's still a little bit of up and down here of a of excitement
- 2:43and Intrigue a little bit. Well, action-adventure, well,
- 2:48and the countdown, there is a countdown, always love a
- 2:51countdown to a relation does. Well, if talk to who loves
- 2:54countdown friend, Carrie Nations Whispering, it's okay Terry.
- 2:57You've not / countdown in this one, your minds but Holmes
- 3:01countdown love. I've lost my train of thought.
- 3:09Part of yours. Wasn't I?
- 3:10Mmm, and unsatisfying climaxes? No, I'm not going to go there.
- 3:14Not what I'm doing this for you. And what I would like to say,
- 3:23Are you drunk? But one coffee?
- 3:27Well, Gloria, every while folks with the gays and you going,
- 3:34what's the point? I was trying to make your talk
- 3:36about part fools and how the Android inflation might not be
- 3:38as satisfactorily part, for fact?
- 3:41Really. Satisfying, let's just watch the
- 3:45face, right? Let's go.
- 3:45Everyone with the and renovation part for this is a doctor who
- 3:48audio commentary podcast throw. It ain't your mama.
- 3:51And Joe digging about. We're gonna go and carry on.
- 3:54Let's talk about part 4. Oh right, they digging about the
- 3:57lie. Here we go.
- 3:59Every detail of the crowd Invasion has been rehearsed.
- 4:04This is on the only, the doctor can foil their plan and he is
- 4:09millions of miles, what you mean he's there?
- 4:11No, it wasn't. They left there in the current
- 4:14space to level things for me and viewers.
- 4:17So they haven't actually got back down to earth.
- 4:19So, actually, this is an interesting.
- 4:21The shift. Because now we're on the real
- 4:23Earth. Yeah, it's something different.
- 4:26But this is now like every other Doctor Who Alien Invasion story
- 4:32I suppose the interesting thing here is that method is that
- 4:34they're going to replace people with the Android and you've got
- 4:37an alien virus that with the virus.
- 4:39Yeah. So I wonder if in the climax of
- 4:42this exciting Adventure, they'll bring the two of those things
- 4:45together, the Androids and the virus to defeat the crawls.
- 4:49I would hope so they do. Yeah, they do.
- 4:52We know that there is a plot point.
- 4:54The Barry Letts laments on the documentary.
- 4:56Did you hear it? No, he goes well.
- 4:58All the addresses are turned off.
- 5:01Right. Or then the doctor defeats the
- 5:04Android device blocking the signal.
- 5:06The doctor the fake doctor would have is the one that I think is
- 5:10dead, isn't it? And he goes oh don't cry about
- 5:12him. He's only a an Android Sarah,
- 5:15they've all been turned off at that point that the doctor would
- 5:18have done something. So that's particular signals
- 5:21isolated or something like that. I don't think that's a major
- 5:23plot Point major plot hole. I don't think when all the wives
- 5:28were sitting around reading the scripts, I don't think they,
- 5:31Pointed that out. Now will they probably should
- 5:33have done, maybe they'll fix em Lynne when she was reading Don
- 5:37Howton scripts when she was writing them out for him.
- 5:40She used to say to him. Don we that don't make any
- 5:42sense. And by the way, there's a
- 5:44Chinese woman in this. I can play this role.
- 5:48So is this, that is the robot doctor.
- 5:51No, no, that's a real doctor hidden away that we've just
- 5:54seen. That's right.
- 5:55Yeah. Because there's a sequence in a
- 5:57minute, isn't there? Where him and Sarah came out of
- 5:59the pods. And they look very sinister.
- 6:01That's really an image and I hear you talkin about picks em
- 6:05limb, right? Do you remember in that Journey
- 6:07that I've just thought of box set?
- 6:09Yes, she turned up randomly, didn't she?
- 6:11She stories know as well. So character, they want of evil.
- 6:16My name is going on about diplomatic incidents and things.
- 6:19Mr. Foo Peng. No, that's the one she's working
- 6:23for What's her name? I can't lie.
- 6:26Gently, that's it. You're not playing.
- 6:27Chinle know. She was playing this weird.
- 6:31She was in a 45-minute so gender-bending, villain.
- 6:34Oh yes, of course. Yes, I think it was a bloke all
- 6:37the way through, and then turns out it was picks em Lynne.
- 6:40Yeah, very good. Incredibly diverse.
- 6:42I'm sure there are lots of different parts.
- 6:46Here we go. Sarah lamenting the fact that
- 6:49there's a crazy plan to get them up into space now.
- 6:54But now we've got to get back in the pods and land on Earth in
- 6:57the pods. Yeah, you know, I've done a lot.
- 7:00I is a bit tricky about this one.
- 7:02Is that there are lots of things to cross off, isn't there?
- 7:06That? Like they've introduced all of
- 7:07these elements and so it's all a bit unwieldy in episode 4.
- 7:11In episode 1, when it was all mystery leading up to the twist
- 7:15it All, here we go, we're on Earth.
- 7:19And we, yeah, it's a nice change in.
- 7:20Like you said, this is a great set.
- 7:23We've got everybody working in the research center.
- 7:27I don't know if you know this, but the week before we these
- 7:32events here was, in fact, the Space Center Christmas party and
- 7:37the receptionist. And the man with the mustache,
- 7:40right? Mmm.
- 7:41They ended up snug in oh they didn't know their hold on the
- 7:44back alley of the pulp Yeah. You why are you watching this
- 7:48are giving each other Sly looks. It's a bit like a Deo lion that
- 7:52in Army, ghosts. We've got the real Harry and
- 7:55Benton here. Now Which is, and there is a
- 7:59definitive change in their performance because there are a
- 8:03lot more Charming, all of a sudden.
- 8:06And again we missed the Brigadier, don't we?
- 8:09Well yeah this Colonel Faraday. This Colonel blimp its mother
- 8:14from The Avengers the travel. He's is he's in no way as
- 8:19Charming as Nicholas Courtney. I can see why they would have
- 8:21cast him at. He seems to play these
- 8:24characters, doesn't he? Yeah.
- 8:25But have you seen him in the Avengers where he's going around
- 8:27in a wheelchair, being really quirky.
- 8:29He's really fun in this. He is just playing your it's
- 8:32just this image. Here you go.
- 8:33Harry fake. Brigadier and Benton it.
- 8:36To really pour water down unit from those heydays of the Third
- 8:41Doctor. Actually enjoy.
- 8:42It's like season a and now we're just left with the dregs then of
- 8:46range of unit drugs. If you do unfortunately you
- 8:49remember the Heyday of Mike Yates.
- 8:52It's just a shame Corporal Bell, Corporal Bell and these research
- 8:56people are sort of non non characters, really?
- 8:59Just glorified extra is that don't deserve a plot point.
- 9:02It's just all a bit but it can I can I please He's save how
- 9:07refreshing it is to see both a person of color and a woman
- 9:11working in this because that never would have happened in the
- 9:1460s. I don't know.
- 9:16You know, it's yeah, I thought it's just ait's a bit more of a
- 9:20bustling. What there's like three three
- 9:24people waiting for this big launch.
- 9:26This guy's been lost in to in space for ages.
- 9:28Where's like the news people? Where's all the?
- 9:31I know everyone should be waiting.
- 9:36Could have that guy. That was reported in the
- 9:37ambassadors, a death. So we're waiting for the things
- 9:39to come in and people exactly and all that kind of thing base,
- 9:42come on. And you don't see the rest of
- 9:43the world being affected by this huge Alien Invasion.
- 9:48It's just always told off screen.
- 9:50Yeah. And it's just not and it's in
- 9:52those the same happens with the same Forest that was on the fake
- 9:55lat. You wouldn't tell the story this
- 9:56way anymore. No, you'd be showing how it's
- 9:58affecting the people at home. You know how the people on the
- 10:00streets are affected by all of this.
- 10:02Yeah, you'd have, you know, someone turn up, you don't Turn
- 10:06up for their dinner, you know, funny, very Sinister.
- 10:08And I'm like, what's wrong with you today?
- 10:10Yeah, you could have the real Pub or something.
- 10:14Yeah. With some one person walking a
- 10:16bit because that can they, I know they filmed it in the same
- 10:19places that they filmed the other lot.
- 10:20So it doesn't give you that extra different.
- 10:22No, that's clever. But I think that's clever
- 10:25because it's using the, the location.
- 10:29Creatively in two different ways.
- 10:34I've was that they're all looking a bit tense all doing
- 10:36their best. No, no.
- 10:37Nobody's like awful. It's not.
- 10:40You know what for once? I think the sets too big, you're
- 10:43right. If they just had like a corner
- 10:45of a studio. Yeah.
- 10:47Those few people, it would look a bit bustling but it's fast.
- 10:51So I have that fight sequence later on, I ever believed that
- 10:56guy. Crowfoot astronaut it just
- 10:58appeared on the screen in the spacesuit know, I don't Camp in
- 11:04the cannot wait to get that eye patch from variable.
- 11:08I'll God, he's wearing an eyepatch getting a bit kinky
- 11:11this one. Oh, bless the helmet.
- 11:15Is one of those originally made for the BBC drama.
- 11:17Serial, Moonbase free? That's Barry.
- 11:19Listen, Terry sticks. So, will those suits, then moon
- 11:24base 3, and then Planet, the Daleks?
- 11:26And then here because those are just the helmet, just the
- 11:28helmet. Yeah.
- 11:31Yeah. Om also was disappointed with
- 11:33Harry's Robin. The story.
- 11:34I'll not make sense for Harry to be there because medical officer
- 11:37and he's going to give guy once over when he gets down.
- 11:41But why it's, why he's been Benton's.
- 11:45Therefore the because we're unit yellow is its visual shorthand.
- 11:50Isn't him. You ever seen 70s porn?
- 11:54No. Oh, okay.
- 11:55Well then it's in the old beard. Bob, do you know, a man with a
- 11:58big mustache that it's like every 70s porn star.
- 12:04Oh, I love this. See know this been where she
- 12:06sees the doctrines are in the pods.
- 12:10And then the Dudley since was horns of death Dada Dada Dada
- 12:14Dada Dada come in as they go off together.
- 12:17Now that is a premise for a Story evil doctrines, imagine
- 12:22having a story on one and they were all from the beginning
- 12:26right there. And then it's revealed at the
- 12:28end of episode two that they were duplicates all along, but
- 12:31Tom Baker's performance is brilliant.
- 12:33Here a bit like Elizabeth's layden's in the shop earlier to
- 12:37Let's because it's obvious and you making it obvious that it's.
- 12:41Yeah. It goes.
- 12:43You know, it would not suit our plans.
- 12:45Yes, isn't it? There's no pretense there that
- 12:48to trick the audience or anything?
- 12:51Don't, you see that the film content or the Android Invasion
- 12:53averages nearly eight minutes per episode?
- 12:56I don't know. I don't have the info takes on
- 12:58every single time. Yeah, fascinating information.
- 13:01That's a total of more than 31 minutes.
- 13:03Of the story. And it's got more filming than
- 13:08any other of the Hinchcliffe cereals.
- 13:10That's why you love it and it all this in a lot of ways.
- 13:16And in Tom Baker's entire seven-year run, only the power
- 13:19of pro, add more, 34 minutes, power of crow bum, bum bum.
- 13:24That's just really slow long shots of people going up and
- 13:26down, boats, boats by reads on, they have power Kroll.
- 13:32Don't start me on power crowd and do, do do, do, do, do, do.
- 13:35Dude. Anyway, originally they were
- 13:41called technicians one, two, and three.
- 13:43Let's Terry Nation for you. These people names in my place
- 13:50and Eric's award are quite similar in their approaches.
- 13:53Know, I see these are K. I'm going to sound like a
- 13:56hypocrite. We're gone.
- 13:57So two Nations kill people. I do say, yeah, I do say Terry
- 14:00Nation. Maybe not put the thing in this
- 14:02Square. Eric's a word.
- 14:04I'm very Critical of unfortunately violence.
- 14:08I just think he just is not a great script editor and not a
- 14:12great writer. I love Revelation Daleks, I
- 14:16think script editor, he's not great as script editor because I
- 14:18love that visitations a great script Revelation.
- 14:21Adonis is a great script. It's script editor and all of
- 14:25the though, you know the doctor and Perry stuff which is you
- 14:28know things are script editor. Should be looking at Eric's a
- 14:32board did not do his job, I'm sorry.
- 14:35Well you have spoken and I mean, I would criticize the writing in
- 14:44in that, okay, alterations done this or it's a would stun this.
- 14:47Why did you do this? I would not be able to write a
- 14:49script from scratch myself. I'm not a writer.
- 14:52I think I could do script editing, though, if someone gave
- 14:55me a product, I could look through it and say, the change
- 14:58stuff, I think I could do that. And, you know, I could criticize
- 15:02that if I could not criticize things like a bitch.
- 15:06Well, I don't know, I just think when you look at it you can put
- 15:09our wish I'd done this or this, but there's usually but also
- 15:13there's usually behind the scenes, a lot of reasons, time
- 15:17just pressures, all that kind of is understandable but what is
- 15:21very good. So I like the windows say Eric
- 15:23say would just annoys me, I don't think he did a very good
- 15:25job. During Doctor Who the script
- 15:27says, he's got a six or seven scripts on the go, and they're
- 15:30all of various age. Exactly.
- 15:32Exactly. You're reading all part.
- 15:33Not just sitting here. Luxurious?
- 15:35What she on DVD being that? Obviously, right next one,
- 15:39you've got everything else going on, I so it's understandable.
- 15:43It's very easy for aside Isabel. It's very easy to say I'm and
- 15:46yeah, he relaxes think you're right.
- 15:48Yeah, I wouldn't say I. Yeah, but I'm not a writer.
- 15:51I'm not alright. I couldn't write anything like
- 15:53this. Man.
- 15:54You can edit though can edit stuff.
- 15:56Your edit beautiful, you know, there's a sequence in a second.
- 16:01I think it's coming up so we just had the doctor go in past
- 16:04Max Faulkner and Go. Oh hi.
- 16:05It's me. You see an Android version on
- 16:08me? Yeah don't let him through.
- 16:09Yeah, in a minute. That's it, right.
- 16:14Did we get the pit? Where Tom, but he comes in and
- 16:15he gets shot in the stomach and he goes satisfied.
- 16:19Yeah, that's great moments in really creepy.
- 16:21Isn't it over it? This is our last ever glimpse of
- 16:25the real Benton. Our shame.
- 16:27He's unconscious. Do we only see the fake Benson
- 16:31after this? So I'm going out.
- 16:33He was he John Levine with this and he wasn't happy working with
- 16:36Tom Baker. He's very critical to.
- 16:38Well, I think fun anymore. Well, I think he's probably had
- 16:41a great time. We Jon Pertwee and all of that.
- 16:43She say the hey daytime and then you come into it and it's a
- 16:45different environment. So, completely different crew
- 16:49working on this whole, I think Joe Jon Pertwee use the unit
- 16:52crew as like a safety blanket. Mmm.
- 16:57Where and they just made him didn't need it. so at
- 17:00apparently, you know, if you heard Tom Baker, talking about
- 17:04John Levine and were talking about Sergeant Benson, he goes,
- 17:07you know, you've made us laugh because you know we were like
- 17:10you know this guy calling for has gum straight you know that
- 17:13he's supposed to believe it's you know a soldier in his army
- 17:17protecting the the planet from Alien invasions Something about
- 17:24the kind of Faraday's performance.
- 17:26Or the character is a bit, is it?
- 17:29Because I'm looking at his, like a comedy because, you know what?
- 17:31He, I've just remembered he plays a MP in, man, about the
- 17:36house, the movie, and I think I'm joking, right?
- 17:41I think it's Diana dors or something comes.
- 17:45He's having an affair with her or something, in these Stones
- 17:48were working me, confound it Yes, okay, I'll see you later.
- 17:54Yes. I'll bring the gym slip, you
- 17:56know, that kind of thing or something like that.
- 17:59So I see that actor as well as been in Avengers and stuff.
- 18:03So I he he's playing it like a comedy go over.
- 18:06So go break. I literally just jumped out of a
- 18:09window and do the roll. Like I'm so cool.
- 18:13So go and you know what? I actually think it's always so
- 18:15weird to see Tom Baker, firing a gun.
- 18:17Yeah. This is where Barry Letts comes
- 18:22into his. All these scenes where it's to
- 18:24doctors and things. And I think he's technically
- 18:26competent enough to do that to make that look and it's good.
- 18:30Yeah. And to work out those shots of
- 18:33yeah, it's not. I mean that this time it's not
- 18:35easy to do that constant. You have to be like, right?
- 18:37So I'll just get that week on film me this way.
- 18:40No more film be this way. But and he's learned his craft
- 18:43presently by directing things like Terror of the autons planet
- 18:46Carnival of monsters and the spiders You know, he knows, he
- 18:51knows the show inside out, damn classic.
- 18:54Who with faint praise. Hmm.
- 18:56But do you think there is any larger?
- 18:58Do you think P classic who is Tom Baker and Elisabeth, sladen
- 19:02running around on location? Because I do I think that yeah I
- 19:05think is the best thing in the world.
- 19:07Just watch all day. Can yeah, dashing around the
- 19:12estate in pyramids on Mars. Shame, we didn't get like the
- 19:15film, like the scratch man or something.
- 19:17This time. Dr. They were going to make a
- 19:19film. All these guys on film.
- 19:21I'll look at this in a Invasion of the Body Snatchers and shoots
- 19:24him. And he goes, oh no, no no,
- 19:29that's the real doctor. They keep the next one day, they
- 19:33do what they do, is they keep doing these repetitive scenes
- 19:35where you don't know who is, who at the.
- 19:38And so we have this scene with him, unconvincingly climbing up
- 19:41the Gantry of the rocket, and then we go back to the entrance
- 19:46again. And then bent and shoots him in
- 19:50the car. And you remember the improvise a
- 19:52scene oh my god I've shot a lot with her outside but I think
- 19:58what does just the look? Yes that is fide but Barry Letts
- 20:05has put the gun pellet thing in his stomach.
- 20:11Yeah and then it pans out his face that's the only other time
- 20:14I can remember that being done was to buy us along when he got
- 20:16shot in the invasion and Then the camera goes up and he
- 20:19laughed his head off. Oh, look at that dish on the so,
- 20:23you know, in Sarah, Jane Adventures, mmm Series, 2
- 20:27episode 1. The one, with the sontaran, the
- 20:29last on Tyrone. Yeah.
- 20:31They go off to a space center with a big dish.
- 20:34I like to protect you think it's this one.
- 20:44Oh no, this is the thing. Retailers in life hatch.
- 20:51Oh, hang on. This is the doctor as no.
- 20:53Tom Baker is the Android telling craford, isn't it?
- 20:57This isn't the doctor. Cuz the doctor wouldn't be
- 21:01holding a gun. Yeah, true.
- 21:09Oh you know you feel for no don't you even know?
- 21:12He's a fucking idiot is for he isn't here but you I still think
- 21:16you feel sorry for him like somehow he goes up to this
- 21:19mirror. Might and selves this thing
- 21:21because I'm papers. Yeah, it's brilliant acting for
- 21:24what he's given is brilliant acting.
- 21:26The Joy. Does it has that sort of like,
- 21:28oh, curse is Haynes face? That sort of.
- 21:31It's weird. Sitting, I mean, just like, you
- 21:33soon with the eye patch on her brother's whole story and now, I
- 21:36don't know. Here we go.
- 21:38This is a great fi they get the wig quite right?
- 21:44Yeah. For one time.
- 21:45Yeah. Just remember the Jon Pertwee
- 21:47weeks. Well whiny.
- 21:48Well as well and that's why they're frozen.
- 22:08And he'll if you picked up some bacon and him, throw him on the
- 22:11floor, on his back. Oh my guess, more, so motion.
- 22:16And then do all the actors. Have to stay still down there.
- 22:19Wow, that's a pause. Are that is a pause, but I think
- 22:24that's quite a effective thing to do, though, to just freeze
- 22:27freeze frame. Oh, yeah, sure, you get an easy,
- 22:30well, rather than everyone I don't think it'd be convincing
- 22:32for the actress just stopped. It just wouldn't use made with
- 22:35watching robots. Are deaf the other week and
- 22:37those poor men in there. Robot costumes, were wobbling.
- 22:39Precariously, all over the set. Are we?
- 22:43What we most to get super Sarah and Harry just one brief.
- 22:46Yeah, now that chance to catch up and well, that's that's the
- 22:50really bad thing. Is the plot ends and then
- 22:53they're back to the Tardis. We don't see Benton Harry,
- 22:56nobody, it's not time to wrap it up for some reason.
- 23:01I think this is the last of Harry apart from shame, Harry
- 23:04Sullivan's war. I've not read it.
- 23:07Oh well there's no Harry now. Me in the Seventh Doctor and big
- 23:10finish Sullivan and cross John. Yeah.
- 23:15But we don't know when that set I could have been before this so
- 23:17This hairy here facing sticker on could know all about
- 23:20Sylvester McCoy maybe maybe a what you see is what you made
- 23:25him? Well I don't know when it's set.
- 23:26Yeah he's almost saying big finish that Geniuses you know.
- 23:31And the Sea Devils get attacked by X of chromite.
- 23:34Gasps. Yes and the sort of Iran will be
- 23:36out at the eyes and you know when messed or gets acid in the
- 23:41face and sort of melts all over the place and really disgusting,
- 23:47I think this is where it all starts.
- 23:48It's the same stuff, isn't it? And he proper flips and goes
- 23:53right onto it, doesn't it would. But it's a fun way of like it's
- 23:58so funny. That is epic fail of the week.
- 24:01On you, Jim is there would be like, yeah, look at it.
- 24:11What you imagined that was because it really started.
- 24:13So foaming up. Horrible horrible.
- 24:18That's what you was going to do to the human race though.
- 24:21Look kind of Faraday's in the background looking like, what's
- 24:24happening? I wash.
- 24:25And I woke up this morning. Although oh yeah, there was
- 24:34supposed to be a speech. I like why does Tom bike is
- 24:40always fit perfectly these actuators because he's got
- 24:43broccoli or it's just like that. That's why we noted earlier, the
- 24:50smoking was commonplace in 1975 and here comes another sign of
- 24:53the times dot dot. The script, describes, his final
- 24:57scene as idyllic as a cigarette commercial because Terry
- 25:01Nations, right? And he's sitting there smoking
- 25:03drinking, right? It was a trees.
- 25:05Birds twittering Sarah sniffing a flower.
- 25:11My mom's holiday after this. Wow.
- 25:15Then there's what we have after this.
- 25:18Oh, your planet Vivo. Yes.
- 25:20So it's ended up evil planet for this.
- 25:24Oh, yeah. Course it's periods.
- 25:26Mars parents bars back into the same Forest.
- 25:33We've been here before. Didn't Sarah to get really
- 25:36annoyed about Sarah going into the fathers of the end of this,
- 25:39didn't she? Yeah.
- 25:41After all that time that Sarah has been like I want to go home,
- 25:44I want to get back, get back home then she's like okay I'm
- 25:47off for go there's a big rant on our to watch Who episode of this
- 25:50marvelous. Check it out if you want to know
- 25:53more about the story. Lot about this last scene has
- 25:55yeah, well, I have to say that. Wow, marvelously pie.
- 26:02Well, you have have the unenviable task now because this
- 26:05is one of your favorites. You got to give three impressive
- 26:08reasons, why people should go right immediately.
- 26:13Well, okay, Barry Letts wonderful Direction the film
- 26:17working this over, 30 minutes worth of it.
- 26:20In this story, your classic Peak doctor And Sarah in a forest
- 26:26atmosphere. Yeah.
- 26:29Are you doing all three in one, go.
- 26:31I'm just saying everything. I love of others over.
- 26:33Here you go. The suspense of part one, and
- 26:37the feel of this, and the feel of this in context with the
- 26:41actual season itself, like we said, it does.
- 26:45It's often seen as a weaker story, but I think it stands out
- 26:51more because it's not hasn't got that Gothic nurses.
- 26:54A different feel. It's bit more refreshing.
- 26:58What else? Okay.
- 26:59Part four is a little bit weaker, but it's an enjoyable
- 27:04adventure with the Fourth Doctor and Sarah.
- 27:08And that. What else could you want?
- 27:10Oh, we did say that with Peak television, didn't we?
- 27:12Yeah, I mean, I've gotta put 3 + H.
- 27:15Well, that's how this works going to sail.
- 27:17The dick sounds aren't you? Ah well no I'm not actually no.
- 27:21I'm going to say Barry. Letts is technical.
- 27:24Wizardry. Yeah, which I think is in full
- 27:26force in this story, that knows what to do, doesn't it?
- 27:28People think people say he's Direction as a little lackluster
- 27:31compared to some of the others of this season.
- 27:33But actually I feel like especially in episodes 1 & 2.
- 27:37That's some of the best directed material of season 13.
- 27:40And I bet you he went, he came under time and in budget, I bet
- 27:46the guy jumps over the cliff in slow motion.
- 27:49Amazing. He manages to make that gentle
- 27:51incline look like a vertiginous drop that.
- 27:54Sarah Jane is coming down and I okay apart from maybe that
- 27:57moment as well. Barry Letts is delivering a nice
- 28:00family. You know, Mary Whitehouse would
- 28:02probably approve of this story out of all of the Season.
- 28:05He's not done or do not Rose Garden.
- 28:07Yeah. But there's nothing
- 28:08controversial. There's nothing so violent Sarah
- 28:10Jane's going around with a guy but it's fantasy.
- 28:12They are Androids there that the alien threat and the kind they
- 28:17could have had that. It's very Less in his sort of
- 28:22tameness to it in a way but that's not A bad thing they
- 28:25could have done. Hmm.
- 28:26Well, this is a faker they could have had Mary Whitehouse in the
- 28:28story. Ha ha ha.
- 28:29Get back doctor. She could have been the monster
- 28:33in the climax to me by put me in it.
- 28:39Frightening, Doctor Who for a week.
- 28:44I also think I just love how Sonny this is as well.
- 28:47I think like because a lot of season 13, well the Hinchcliffe
- 28:50era is brooding and shadows and all that.
- 28:53And I do Off the atmosphere of it.
- 28:55But for four weeks, it's bright and sunny and Breezy and Pacey
- 29:01and just delightful. Yeah.
- 29:03It's like a bracing glass of lemonade.
- 29:05It's brilliant. Like a cigarette advert.
- 29:09Oh. And there is one more thing as
- 29:11well as this I was going to Paris you.
- 29:12At the end of this, I am going to embarrass you.
- 29:14At the end of this is. Okay, okay.
- 29:16Okay. Well, this Android Invasion,
- 29:19this is where you and me first met, it's at the very first
- 29:22time, we clapped eyes on you. Vaughn do member you turned up
- 29:25on that screen doing their thing.
- 29:27I have sex with that man. Now I'm drinking.
- 29:32No that's not the parachute with but obviously it has changed
- 29:37both of our Lives quite a bit since we can watch the Android
- 29:42information. So my point is is I have a lot
- 29:46to thank the Android Invasion for it is marvelous.
- 29:51You got very quiet again. It is marvelous Jesus.
- 30:03Where we going next? Oh yes we are going to the far
- 30:08future aren't we the far future? It doesn't he say oh yeah this
- 30:12is that the edge of all known experiences or someone because
- 30:16they look back. They've been watching Doctor
- 30:18over there. Yeah, they look back and we're
- 30:20going to the far future to the planet off the Savages.
- 30:25What you doing it in Jon pertwee's voice of the Savages
- 30:30to a boil. That was my italics.
- 30:35They're closing in, that's William Hartnell.
- 30:38It sounds just like your job /. Well well well well, I never got
- 30:41back this far in time before I get my vibrator out, my brooch
- 30:47are know if I break. It doesn't need to anticipate
- 30:50the bash. Anyway, we'll get into that when
- 30:52we talk about else, can you just see us out?
- 30:53Please with a quote from dodo, I'll what'd she say something in
- 30:57a terrible Cockney accent, I'll stevedore He's gonna be any
- 31:07better. It was somebody up there.
