- 0:00Speaker 1: Previously.
- 0:00Speaker 2: I'm Relatable's Baddies book Club for finding out that you're
- 0:03Speaker 2: trying to have a second kid, and that's why Enzo's
- 0:05Speaker 2: still there because he's Cecily's dad.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Pull my drop. Oh my god. That was good. Yeah,
- 0:15Speaker 1: that was a good prediction.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Oh wow, all right, watch me be completely wrong.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I love how I invested you already are. Yeah, that
- 0:24Speaker 1: was so good. All right, Welcome to Relatables Baddies book Club,
- 0:29Speaker 1: where we will embark on a journey reading some of
- 0:31Speaker 1: the finest pieces of literature you have ever laid eyes
- 0:34Speaker 1: or he is, if that's your preferred way to consume
- 0:36Speaker 1: a book.
- 0:36Speaker 2: On The Housemaid Chapters eleven to twenty.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm glad some stuff has started to come out
- 0:48Speaker 1: of the woodworks.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Yeah it's happening up. Yeah, come out of the woodwork.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it's turning up and it's kind of like snowballing
- 0:58Speaker 2: quite quickly.
- 1:00Speaker 1: And I like that. Yeah, it's a so I want
- 1:04Speaker 1: the I'm starting to expect the Sarah Jay mass effect
- 1:08Speaker 1: in this book because we're twenty chapters in and I
- 1:12Speaker 1: know that's not much, but they're short chapters. Even though
- 1:14Speaker 1: it is a sixty chapter book. There's chapters that are
- 1:16Speaker 1: three pages. There's chapters that are two pages like that,
- 1:19Speaker 1: And I was kind of like, you know what I
- 1:20Speaker 1: did yesterday was I didn't start reading. I started on
- 1:23Speaker 1: chapter eleven at I think five PM. I read a couple,
- 1:29Speaker 1: went to bed at nine, finished it, and I was
- 1:31Speaker 1: just like, this was easy.
- 1:33Speaker 2: This book makes me feel smart, whereas like Akata, I
- 1:37Speaker 2: was like, fuck it, yeah, this is using my brain bound.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Akatar is a couple like you got to reread
- 1:41Speaker 1: a few pages. You're like, fuck, I've ventured off in
- 1:43Speaker 1: the oh, yeah, what was my mind doing? But I
- 1:49Speaker 1: do like it. But what I'm starting to expect is like,
- 1:51Speaker 1: because surj Mass's books, some of them are also sixty chapters,
- 1:56Speaker 1: some of them eighty chapters, but the chapters are so
- 1:58Speaker 1: long that it feels as though the last twenty chapters
- 2:02Speaker 1: or the last thirty chapters are or they are technically
- 2:04Speaker 1: the last fucking I guess twenty percent of the book.
- 2:07Speaker 1: But so what I'm trying to get out is we're
- 2:10Speaker 1: used to this much of book being intense. Yeah, we
- 2:14Speaker 1: used to this much of book being intense, because that's
- 2:17Speaker 1: how much of fucking that's the whole book. But that's
- 2:19Speaker 1: like the whole book. And so as of right now
- 2:21Speaker 1: it's been pretty slow, but we've just figured some stuff out. Yeah,
- 2:24Speaker 1: I've kind of liked.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Like the little little teasers here and there, the slow
- 2:28Speaker 2: plot getting into the scene setting.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Same now it's like it it reminded me of my
- 2:37Speaker 2: crime podcast days.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Okay, I can't for some read it just never would
- 2:43Speaker 1: have taken you as a crime podcast guy.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I used to do it when I was driving a
- 2:46Speaker 2: fair bit when we went traveling on the eat Coase
- 2:49Speaker 2: of Australia because we were driving so much, I would
- 2:52Speaker 2: do like I'd have funny he public podcasts and then
- 2:55Speaker 2: i'd also have crime and then like I wasn't listening
- 2:58Speaker 2: to that much education occasional at the time, but I'd
- 3:01Speaker 2: go crime for a little bit. Then when I got scared,
- 3:02Speaker 2: I'll go to the funny hihi haha.
- 3:04Speaker 3: And it's reminded me. It's giving me reminiscence of my.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Favorite was Crime Junkie Crime Junky.
- 3:10Speaker 3: It's giving that a little bit.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, I'm excited because you're like
- 3:13Speaker 2: you're like, what a fucking idiot, But then you're also like,
- 3:16Speaker 2: I don't know how it feels to be in that situation.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Well, this is good, this is a good book for you.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Then a little bit of psychological or thriller crime type shit.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I was the other day we were talking about how
- 3:26Speaker 1: do you grow? How do you grow with the times?
- 3:28Speaker 1: You know, we've got book Club, we've got this, we've
- 3:30Speaker 1: got that. Is there any other angle we can get into?
- 3:32Speaker 1: And I actually we thought we did say like, Crime
- 3:36Speaker 1: is huge, people love it, And I originally said, like, oh,
- 3:40Speaker 1: because we aren't that interested in it. I don't think
- 3:42Speaker 1: it would do well. And you did mention like you
- 3:44Speaker 1: have listened to it a bit, but I didn't know
- 3:46Speaker 1: you actually kind of quite liked it.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a funny.
- 3:50Speaker 2: I don't know if the word like is correct. It's
- 3:52Speaker 2: a funny relationship in a sense of you listen because
- 3:56Speaker 2: you need to know what happens.
- 3:58Speaker 1: And that's why Crime is so good, because it's gripping.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like all those bad Netflix series that are
- 4:05Speaker 2: coming out and it's all these murder mysteries and they're
- 4:08Speaker 2: done terribly.
- 4:08Speaker 1: But have you started watching ed Gane No, I haven't
- 4:11Speaker 1: halfway through the same thing as the other one we watched,
- 4:14Speaker 1: where we watch half the episode. Turned it off, Dama, Yeah,
- 4:16Speaker 1: really exact same thing. Watch half the episode best and
- 4:18Speaker 1: I turned it off.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I mean, like, you know, have you seen like the
- 4:21Speaker 2: real story. I suppose that Dharmo and this person that
- 4:23Speaker 2: he's acting, but it's like the actual real scenes of
- 4:26Speaker 2: like the police footage camera and this is terrible, but
- 4:29Speaker 2: like what actually happened is crazy that you have to
- 4:31Speaker 2: keep watching.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Yep, yep, yep.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it's kind of giving that.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Because I'm like, leave girl, like be homeless. Yeah, but
- 4:38Speaker 2: we found out what's her parole officer. She's got to
- 4:40Speaker 2: keep the job.
- 4:41Speaker 1: So yeah, that's the thing it makes you. Let's go back,
- 4:44Speaker 1: let's go into the recap. Okay, right, So, as we said,
- 4:47Speaker 1: it's nice short chapters, which is beautiful for the recap.
- 4:51Speaker 1: So we left off with, you know, Andrew's cool, Cecilia's
- 4:56Speaker 1: a bitch, Nina's a bitch, Millie's pretty cool butt you know,
- 5:00Speaker 1: Nina is just so bipolar, it's ridiculous. Finished off with
- 5:06Speaker 1: Nina gave Milly some clothes and then she's like, all right,
- 5:10Speaker 1: now clean them up. Don't be fucking rude, like I
- 5:12Speaker 1: just gave you shit.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Yeah, So next chapter is Nina calls Milly kind of frantically,
- 5:19Speaker 2: can you.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Please pick up Cecilia from school? It's called it's called
- 5:23Speaker 1: the Winter Academy. You pick her up from the Winter Academy.
- 5:26Speaker 1: And so Milly's like shit, and she goes, yeah, two
- 5:29Speaker 1: forty five. It's like two thirty, and Nina goes, sorry.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Milly's thinking shit, okay. She goes to look at the
- 5:35Speaker 1: Winter Academy doesn't exist. It's in Wisconsin or something. They're
- 5:38Speaker 1: in New York, Long Island I think it was. And
- 5:42Speaker 1: she's thinking, what she called it the Winter Academy. I
- 5:45Speaker 1: swear she called it the Winter Academy. What is I'm not?
- 5:49Speaker 1: And so she luckily saw a thing on the fridge
- 5:51Speaker 1: that said the Windsor Academy and that's her actual school.
- 5:55Speaker 1: So she finds it. Rips there, gets a park next
- 5:58Speaker 1: to like a Rolls Royce in a Mercede goes waits,
- 6:01Speaker 1: there's like five entrances. She's like, fuck, where's Cecily gonna
- 6:05Speaker 1: come out? She's stressed, and she goes and sees some mums.
- 6:07Speaker 1: She's like, I'm so sorry, where did the fourth graders
- 6:09Speaker 1: come out? They say, all right here and then they say, oh,
- 6:12Speaker 1: you who you picking up? She said, Cecilia, I am
- 6:17Speaker 1: Nina Win and she go and they go, oh, you
- 6:18Speaker 1: must be Nina's new maide or something like that, and
- 6:22Speaker 1: then Millie correct san says I'm the housekeeper whatever. They
- 6:26Speaker 1: go on to be like how is it. They tell
- 6:27Speaker 1: her Nina's psychotic, she's crazy, she's she's cuckoo whatever, and
- 6:32Speaker 1: she's like weird. She doesn't ask him too many more questions.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Gets Cecilia comes out and she goes, all right, say Cecilia,
- 6:39Speaker 1: like your mom said to pick her up. And she's like,
- 6:41Speaker 1: you're not picking me up. I'm going I'm getting picked
- 6:44Speaker 1: up by like Sarah's mum to go to ballet or
- 6:46Speaker 1: karate or some shit karate and she goes, no, no, no,
- 6:50Speaker 1: your mom definitely she said call me. She just called me.
- 6:54Speaker 1: And so then Sarah's mum comes over and she goes,
- 6:56Speaker 1: it's hey, Cecilia, ready to go, And then Nina goes
- 6:58Speaker 1: over and she goes, So Milli goes over and she's like,
- 7:01Speaker 1: I'm so sorry, I'm Nina's new housekeeper. She's asked me
- 7:03Speaker 1: to pick Cecilia up. And so then fucking this girl
- 7:07Speaker 1: course Nina. She's like Hi, great housekeeper here. She says
- 7:11Speaker 1: she's in for Cecilia. What's going on. She's like, ha
- 7:15Speaker 1: ha ha, yes, of course I totally understand. Yet all
- 7:17Speaker 1: good and then she hangs up the phone. She's like,
- 7:21Speaker 1: Nina has no idea what you're talking about.
- 7:27Speaker 3: She leaves, this would make me feel crazy.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Oh my god, bro, She goes, yeah, Nina has no
- 7:32Speaker 1: idea talking about you must have days mixed up. Cecilia
- 7:34Speaker 1: goes off. She texts Nina. She goes, what's going on here?
- 7:40Speaker 1: She's like, millly, I have no idea what you're talking about,
- 7:43Speaker 1: so merely you're losing the plot.
- 7:45Speaker 2: And I was like, gas lidding really to the I
- 7:49Speaker 2: was like, what the fuck?
- 7:51Speaker 1: Anyway, next day she's cleaning. She's on her own, she's
- 7:57Speaker 1: cleaning the on sweet bathroom, and she's like, why the
- 8:02Speaker 1: fuck does this place get so filthy? Basically, she cleans
- 8:05Speaker 1: all day, gets the place spotless, the whole house. She
- 8:08Speaker 1: wakes up in the morning. Somehow the house is absolutely
- 8:10Speaker 1: filthy after a day, like toothpaste caked, bloody tampons on
- 8:15Speaker 1: the ground, fucking just close everywhere. She always likes to
- 8:19Speaker 1: mention though, that Andrew's clean.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Yeah, Andrew.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Andrew seems to get his clothes in the laundry.
- 8:25Speaker 3: MM.
- 8:27Speaker 1: So Millie's like those ladies were talking about, you know,
- 8:31Speaker 1: she's crazy. They might have even mentioned like a psych
- 8:35Speaker 1: ward or a mental hospital or something. She's like, what
- 8:37Speaker 1: if I take a peek at a medicine capinet? And
- 8:39Speaker 1: I was like, oh fuck, it's just recipe.
- 8:43Speaker 3: For We're starting to see Millie's decision making is a
- 8:47Speaker 3: little bit flawed.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So it's just classic main character energy.
- 8:53Speaker 1: All main characters have to be like this. So she
- 8:57Speaker 1: takes a peak. She finds a medicine. I wrote them down.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I don't know if it's real or not. Everything else
- 9:02Speaker 1: in the book seems to be real. There's a it's
- 9:05Speaker 1: an antipsychotic medicine called halo paradole. So she sees anything
- 9:10Speaker 1: because halo paradol. There's heaps of medicine in there. By
- 9:12Speaker 1: the way, then Nina comes in. Nina's like, what are
- 9:15Speaker 1: you doing in here? She doesn't see that, merely looked
- 9:17Speaker 1: at the medicine counter and she's like, what are you
- 9:18Speaker 1: doing here? She goes, I'm cleaning your bathroom and she's like,
- 9:23Speaker 1: what sprain wipe are you using. She's like, I don't know.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Is it organic? I don't think so, it's like we
- 9:30Speaker 1: prefer organic stuff in this house. And I was like okay.
- 9:33Speaker 1: She's like, actually, actually, can you show me how you
- 9:36Speaker 1: clean the basin?
- 9:37Speaker 3: It is crazy?
- 9:37Speaker 1: Can you show me how you clean the basin? Because
- 9:41Speaker 1: I don't think you're doing a very good job. She
- 9:44Speaker 1: cleans the basin and she's like, Okay, is that how
- 9:47Speaker 1: you actually clean it? Or is that how you clean
- 9:48Speaker 1: it when I'm watching You's like a fucking hell bro
- 9:53Speaker 1: oh my god. And she's like whatever, whatever, just makes
- 9:57Speaker 1: you do a better job to cleaning the house please,
- 9:58Speaker 1: because I don't have time to what you clean and
- 10:00Speaker 1: make sure you're doing the good time. Fucking hell bro
- 10:03Speaker 1: oh she bugs off all right. Next scene Enzo I
- 10:08Speaker 1: believe is this when he knocks on the door he
- 10:11Speaker 1: has a package?
- 10:12Speaker 3: Yeah, someone dropped a big package at the front or.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Is this no? Sorry? This is is this no? No? No,
- 10:18Speaker 1: it's not sorry. So she just has a She notices
- 10:22Speaker 1: Enzo outside working, takes him a glass of water. She's
- 10:26Speaker 1: trying to get info out of him. But English shit
- 10:29Speaker 1: still not good. But he's still got that little bit
- 10:33Speaker 1: of a word look in his face. But yeah, so
- 10:37Speaker 1: it just didn't really work out. And once again, obviously
- 10:39Speaker 1: he's so sexy, he's so handsome, he would be great
- 10:42Speaker 1: in beads. She's mentioning this a lot, and chatchbt, I
- 10:45Speaker 1: looked it up. This is when when you said, I
- 10:47Speaker 1: hope this is a sexy book. I asked, chatchibt, hopefully
- 10:50Speaker 1: it's wrong, because it can get stuff wrong, because it
- 10:52Speaker 1: told me it's not. But he's referencing a lot of things.
- 10:55Speaker 2: She is, no, but what we found out happens kind
- 10:57Speaker 2: of alludes to nothing sexy does happen, but also how
- 11:00Speaker 2: much she's like sexualizing Andrew too, and like he was single.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Think to be fair, she's been in prison for ten years.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Bro, Yeah, but she seems to be pretty.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Yeah, apparently she's beautiful.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Go out and find someone who you don't work for
- 11:16Speaker 2: or doesn't work for your same employers.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Yeah, all right. So now she's got a day off
- 11:22Speaker 1: and she's got her first parole meeting with while being
- 11:26Speaker 1: with the Winchesters, and I had the prole meeting with
- 11:31Speaker 1: so she says, she says things like, oh, I have
- 11:34Speaker 1: one of these per month. Now I need to hold
- 11:36Speaker 1: down a job, have a place to live or else,
- 11:38Speaker 1: have to finish my the five years of my sentence
- 11:40Speaker 1: in prison. So on. Parole still means like you're technically
- 11:44Speaker 1: you know, you just have there's requirements, I assume, and
- 11:47Speaker 1: you're not allowed to lie. But she has been lying
- 11:48Speaker 1: to a pro officer. She goes in and pro officer
- 11:54Speaker 1: seems nice. You know, how's it going. She says, I
- 11:57Speaker 1: got a new job. I'm the live in house keeper
- 12:01Speaker 1: of the Winchesters. She's sweet. How they're treating you. She lies,
- 12:06Speaker 1: and she says it's great. She goes on to sending
- 12:09Speaker 1: Milli things like, yeah, you need a social life. You
- 12:11Speaker 1: need to you know, one day you can find a man.
- 12:14Speaker 1: No pressure, no pressure.
- 12:15Speaker 2: But you know, there was a mention in there about
- 12:18Speaker 2: like drugs or like drug trafficking or something for like
- 12:22Speaker 2: her sentence, there was a sly little mention about it,
- 12:26Speaker 2: or like she said something about it. That might have
- 12:28Speaker 2: been what she got.
- 12:29Speaker 1: So it wasn't murder. We think it was murder.
- 12:30Speaker 3: We think it was murder.
- 12:31Speaker 1: It could be still.
- 12:32Speaker 2: But there was a little mention about drugs, Okay, was there?
- 12:36Speaker 1: I do seem to feel like there was some.
- 12:39Speaker 2: It was like a sly message about something, saying it
- 12:42Speaker 2: was when she was incarcerated, something about the drug traffickers
- 12:45Speaker 2: or the drug something.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, she talks about a prison a little bit.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Fuck I didn't catch that. But the next day she
- 12:56Speaker 1: can't sleep. She talks about how in prison you have
- 12:59Speaker 1: to sleep one eye open. Obviously everyone's got that fang
- 13:02Speaker 1: on there. So initially when she first got out of prison,
- 13:07Speaker 1: she slept well, but then her insomnia came back. So
- 13:10Speaker 1: she wants to buy a TV for a room because
- 13:12Speaker 1: she wants the white noise or something, but she needs
- 13:16Speaker 1: a few more paychecks for that. She's like, well, I
- 13:19Speaker 1: could just go downstairs and watch the TV. So that's
- 13:22Speaker 1: what she does. Everyone's asleep. It's like nine thirty. No, no,
- 13:25Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I think it's like one am by now
- 13:26Speaker 1: it's Mill night. It's a mill of the night. And
- 13:28Speaker 1: their routine, like the Winchess's routine is quite you know,
- 13:31Speaker 1: always in bed by like nine regiment. Yeah, So she
- 13:34Speaker 1: goes down and she's like, fuck it up. She watches
- 13:36Speaker 1: the family feud. She's watching and she's just wearing like
- 13:39Speaker 1: some some box of shorts or like workout shorts and
- 13:42Speaker 1: a t shirt. No bra by the way, no bra.
- 13:45Speaker 1: And she's watching family Feud, giggling, and then and then
- 13:48Speaker 1: Andrew comes down. He says, is that family feud? And
- 13:51Speaker 1: she's like, oh my god, oh my god, I'm so sorry.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I'm so sorry. And he's like, no, Nina, sorry, sorry, Millie.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I keep getting them mixed up. He's like, no, Milli,
- 13:57Speaker 1: it's fine. You live here, you're lad to watch the TV.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I'm just getting water, don't mind me. He goes get
- 14:02Speaker 1: drink of water, sits down. She scoots away from him.
- 14:04Speaker 1: She's terrified of being next to him, just case near
- 14:06Speaker 1: C's right, and he's like, I don't know what. They
- 14:11Speaker 1: just basically watched some family few together.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Andrew's a little bit of a flirt, dude, Andrew a
- 14:17Speaker 2: little bit.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I It feels to me that Andrew gets joy out
- 14:23Speaker 1: of making people feel comfortable. Yes, like, and not that
- 14:27Speaker 1: that's a bad thing.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Something about that rubs me, rubs me the wrong way. Agreed, Agreed.
- 14:33Speaker 2: It's interesting.
- 14:34Speaker 3: He's too good looking.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah, he's too perfect, he's too nice, he's too clean.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Someone like that has something wrong with.
- 14:41Speaker 1: And it's too and it's mentioned too often. You know,
- 14:44Speaker 1: Millie always says things like he could be doing way
- 14:48Speaker 1: better than Nina, he'd be with a supermodel, all these things.
- 14:52Speaker 1: He's clean, he's a great dad, green as flag. Ever,
- 14:56Speaker 1: I'm intrigued.
- 14:57Speaker 2: We watched the trailer last week on Patreon, and we
- 15:00Speaker 2: saw Nina and she was quite thin, and throughout this
- 15:03Speaker 2: whole book it describes how huge big she's getting.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I wonder how they do that in the movie.
- 15:09Speaker 1: They might not.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Okay, they may not, who knows, Yeah, because.
- 15:13Speaker 2: I was thinking, I was like, the trailer we saw
- 15:15Speaker 2: was a very thin, nice looking yeah.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Very attractive yeah, and then the book this chick's big.
- 15:20Speaker 1: What's that actor's name? She's from Mama Mia is she? Yeah,
- 15:23Speaker 1: she's a good actor. But so he's down there and
- 15:27Speaker 1: then they're kind of chatting, and then I think she
- 15:29Speaker 1: might she may have even said something on the lines
- 15:31Speaker 1: of like, oh, you know, I just I don't think
- 15:33Speaker 1: Nina would be all that happy if we were talking,
- 15:35Speaker 1: because he was also just wearing like a see through shirt,
- 15:38Speaker 1: pajama shirt and boxes. And then so there's downstairs and
- 15:40Speaker 1: they're fucking pajamas chilling.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Didn't say it, but I was picturing that bulbs about
- 15:45Speaker 2: seeing some sexy muscles.
- 15:48Speaker 1: So then they're joking and laughing and he's making her comfortable,
- 15:53Speaker 1: of course, and she's like fuck it. And then we
- 15:57Speaker 1: don't even hear footsteps. She's too quiet on her feet.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Nina at the foot of the stairs. It's going on here?
- 16:03Speaker 1: What's all the jokes about? What's all the jokes? My house?
- 16:08Speaker 4: All right?
- 16:08Speaker 1: And then and so she's like, what's going on down here? Huh?
- 16:12Speaker 1: And then Andrew's like, oh, you know, he just watching
- 16:14Speaker 1: a family feud. Oh wait, completely forgot something real back
- 16:19Speaker 1: to before Nina gets there. So Andrew sits down and
- 16:22Speaker 1: he's like, I'm hungry. Would it be crazy? Would it
- 16:26Speaker 1: be crazy if I ate peanut butter right out of
- 16:29Speaker 1: the jar? And and she goes like what does she say?
- 16:37Speaker 1: Because he says like would it be crazy? For?
- 16:40Speaker 3: Like what do you mean?
- 16:41Speaker 1: Yeah, She's like what do you Maybe she asked him
- 16:44Speaker 1: why do you have it? And he goes peanut butter?
- 16:48Speaker 1: So everyone knows peanut butter. She goes, well, Cecily is allergic.
- 16:53Speaker 1: He's like, no, she's not. I was thinking what and
- 16:57Speaker 1: Millie goes, no, I made her a peanut butter like
- 17:00Speaker 1: snack the other day and she told me she's like
- 17:04Speaker 1: deathly allergic to it. And Andrew goes, look, I think
- 17:08Speaker 1: I would know if my daughter was definitely alleged peanut butter. Also,
- 17:11Speaker 1: why would we have it in the house. And Nina's thinking,
- 17:14Speaker 1: that's exactly what I was thinking. But sorry, Millie was
- 17:17Speaker 1: thinking that's exactly what. But Nina also said, like, you're
- 17:20Speaker 1: trying to kill my kid. Okay, Nina said, I told
- 17:23Speaker 1: you this listen better insane. So Millie's like, anyway. Then
- 17:30Speaker 1: they go on to joke and laugh. Right then Nina
- 17:33Speaker 1: comes down. What's all the jokes about? She gets in,
- 17:36Speaker 1: she's ripping in. She goes, Nina, this is the sorry.
- 17:37Speaker 1: She goes Millie, this is the family room. I keep
- 17:40Speaker 1: on mixing them up. Nina says to Millie, this is
- 17:43Speaker 1: the family room. What are you doing down here? And
- 17:46Speaker 1: Andrew's like, Nina, she can watch TV, she lives here.
- 17:51Speaker 1: She goes Andrew, and you you have a meeting in
- 17:53Speaker 1: the morning. What are you doing? Huh? Get the fuck
- 17:55Speaker 1: to bed. So he kind of goes, yeah, you know,
- 18:00Speaker 1: you're right, You're right whatever. He walks upstairs and then dude,
- 18:04Speaker 1: this is the craziest I wrote down what she said, right,
- 18:08Speaker 1: So she kind of rips into Milli a bit okay,
- 18:13Speaker 1: and then Millie is worried that Nina's jealous, and so
- 18:20Speaker 1: she's like, I need to make this better, and so
- 18:22Speaker 1: she says to Nina on the stairs, She's like, she
- 18:27Speaker 1: goes Nina, like, I swear that nothing was happening, and
- 18:33Speaker 1: Nina laughs in her face. Right, Nina laughs in her face, ha,
- 18:40Speaker 1: do you think my husband would risk everything he has for?
- 18:46Speaker 1: And I quote, she says, you think I'm scared that
- 18:49Speaker 1: my husband would risk everything in his life for some
- 18:53Speaker 1: trampy servant living in the attic? Crazy because you couldn't
- 19:00Speaker 1: say that to me, a bro.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I would have fucking I would have packed my bags
- 19:05Speaker 2: and left trippy servant.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Nina's terrifying.
- 19:12Speaker 3: That's when you get petty a all right.
- 19:15Speaker 1: So then if Millie's embarrassedes, fuck right, Andrews left his
- 19:20Speaker 1: water glass on the coffee table, Nina goes, while you're
- 19:23Speaker 1: at it, clean up this mess. It's one glass. Nina
- 19:27Speaker 1: goes upstairs. Milli goes and picks up the glass, throws
- 19:30Speaker 1: it on the ground. What I was like, what's going on?
- 19:34Speaker 1: She shocks about how she needs to like reel it
- 19:36Speaker 1: in a bit, and you know not. Let Nina see
- 19:38Speaker 1: Millie has a dark he does, Milli has a dark side.
- 19:42Speaker 1: She has a temper that was left field as I
- 19:44Speaker 1: was like, what interesting. Okay, now we've got Millie stressing
- 19:55Speaker 1: about a PTA meeting Parent Teacher Association. Nina is the
- 20:00Speaker 1: vice president of it. So Nina's been stressing her out
- 20:03Speaker 1: because she's nailing into her or just hounding into her.
- 20:07Speaker 1: She needs to pick up these or derves right. Also
- 20:10Speaker 1: didn't know that's how you spelt all derves hat jo
- 20:12Speaker 1: warr space do o u v r s. What is
- 20:18Speaker 1: finger food? Bro oh right, yeah, it's like finger food
- 20:23Speaker 1: or dirves of thes. So she's handing into her. You
- 20:25Speaker 1: need to pick up these orders once again. The house
- 20:28Speaker 1: is filthy, all right, she's barely got time to clean
- 20:31Speaker 1: the house. She gets the house clean, she goes outside.
- 20:33Speaker 1: She doesn't picked up the ordrves can take twenty minutes
- 20:34Speaker 1: to get there, twenty minutes get back right. She goes outside.
- 20:38Speaker 1: As immaculate as the yard is, Enzo makes it great.
- 20:41Speaker 1: The patio furniture disgusting, full of dust. No one sits
- 20:45Speaker 1: in them. She's like, fuck. Andrew comes out, Millie, what's
- 20:50Speaker 1: wrong you think you look like you're about to cry.
- 20:52Speaker 1: She goes, oh, there's nothing or something. It's just speak
- 20:54Speaker 1: a meeting. He goes, don't let that shit stress you out,
- 20:57Speaker 1: those ugly bitches and and say that those those wretched
- 21:01Speaker 1: women aren't going to fucking be happy with anything you
- 21:03Speaker 1: do type of thing. Let me, seriously, what can I do?
- 21:05Speaker 1: What can I do?
- 21:06Speaker 3: Help?
- 21:06Speaker 1: She goes, no, no, it's fine, as fine as fine. He's like, no,
- 21:08Speaker 1: you're crying. Let me help you. Let me actually, he goes, oh,
- 21:10Speaker 1: what do you know? I have a fucking tissue in
- 21:12Speaker 1: my pocket?
- 21:14Speaker 3: What a man?
- 21:14Speaker 1: What?
- 21:15Speaker 3: What a man? Oh my god?
- 21:18Speaker 1: All right, he says. Here, it's like, seriously, what can
- 21:21Speaker 1: I do? She goes, oh, well, if you could pick
- 21:22Speaker 1: up the old drs. He says, consider it done. She's like,
- 21:25Speaker 1: oh my Fanny flutters cec comes out. Dad. I'm hungry.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Oh no, Dad, the computer's breaker. Can you fix it?
- 21:31Speaker 1: Of course I can. But first we're going on a
- 21:33Speaker 1: field trip. Get your shoes on. She goes inside. Millie says,
- 21:37Speaker 1: we find something out crazy here. Milly says, you're great
- 21:40Speaker 1: with her, by the way, He goes, yeah, thanks, she's
- 21:43Speaker 1: like he's She goes, yeah, and she she looks like you,
- 21:47Speaker 1: and Andrew says, ah, yeah, I mean she looks a
- 21:49Speaker 1: lot more like Nina. Millie says, yeah, agreed, but she
- 21:53Speaker 1: has your nose. And he's like, crazy, she's not actually
- 21:56Speaker 1: my biological daughter. Crazy. Oh my god, you guys, when
- 22:01Speaker 1: I met Nina, she was just a baby. I was right, same, bro,
- 22:06Speaker 1: I was like, oh my fuck, why are we even
- 22:07Speaker 1: reading this?
- 22:08Speaker 3: Or he just totally looks like Enzo, doesn't it.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Oh so yeah, he goes, yeah. When I met Nina,
- 22:14Speaker 1: Ceci was still just a kid, but she didn't know
- 22:17Speaker 1: her other dad. And just you know, ever since, I've
- 22:19Speaker 1: just told I'm the only dad she's known what she
- 22:21Speaker 1: calls me dad Nina. And Millie is just like this
- 22:25Speaker 1: fucking guy, bro, He's perfect, this guy, all right. Pta
- 22:30Speaker 1: meeting has begun. Four women, including Nina. There's three others
- 22:35Speaker 1: don't remember their names, but so they're all there, and
- 22:38Speaker 1: they're all kind of like Nina. They're all just like
- 22:40Speaker 1: high strung, and Nina is treating merely like a slave,
- 22:45Speaker 1: just to stand over in the corner and just wait
- 22:47Speaker 1: on them as they so desire. Right, They're all drinking
- 22:49Speaker 1: and eating the old herbs, and they are chatting. They're
- 22:53Speaker 1: just being I don't know, talking about gluten, veganism whatever.
- 22:56Speaker 1: And the PTA meeting is about some dumb field day
- 22:58Speaker 1: they have for the kids where they just go playing
- 22:59Speaker 1: a field for four hours or some shit. We're worried
- 23:02Speaker 1: about the menu for it. Who whatever. Nina's a cow
- 23:05Speaker 1: to Millie. She is talking in front of Millie shit
- 23:10Speaker 1: about Melle, talking shit about Melli right to these people.
- 23:13Speaker 1: They're all they're like, yeah, it's so hard to find
- 23:15Speaker 1: good help. And Nina goes, oh my god, of course,
- 23:17Speaker 1: like the only reason I'm keeping her is because we
- 23:21Speaker 1: do actually need to help with the baby. And all
- 23:23Speaker 1: they say, oh my god, are you pregnant? And she says, oh,
- 23:26Speaker 1: well not yet, but we're going to see a fertility
- 23:28Speaker 1: specialist tomorrow. So fingers crossed, one of them goes, actually,
- 23:33Speaker 1: oh my god, I thought you were eating way more
- 23:35Speaker 1: than the rest of us. I knew you were pregnant.
- 23:37Speaker 1: And that's when Nina goes, oh no, no, just you know,
- 23:39Speaker 1: and Nina looks like she's about to cry, gets up.
- 23:40Speaker 1: She goes, just give me a I'll be right back,
- 23:42Speaker 1: and then Milli overhears these women talking shit about Nina
- 23:48Speaker 1: bro and they're like, how fucking awkward was that? She's humanous?
- 23:52Speaker 1: Right now she's eating as much as a house, so
- 23:54Speaker 1: she's the size of a house, Like I thought she
- 23:56Speaker 1: was pregnant.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Oh my days.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Oh they talk about how they talk a bit about
- 24:01Speaker 1: the psychoticness, like you know, she's so weird. All this
- 24:04Speaker 1: psychotic stuff comes up, and so Millie's like, fuck, you know,
- 24:08Speaker 1: And then they talk about like they confirm her time
- 24:12Speaker 1: in the psychiatric hospital, the mental hospital, and Millie is
- 24:15Speaker 1: now starting to feel really bad about hating Nina because
- 24:17Speaker 1: it's like she clearly has something wrong with her, she
- 24:19Speaker 1: can't control it, and so she has a bit of
- 24:22Speaker 1: empathy for her.
- 24:24Speaker 3: I still wouldn't know.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I would know she's insane.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Probably worried for my life. Yeah, I wouldn't have any empathy.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Okay, next day, Nina and Andrew they get home from
- 24:35Speaker 1: the fertility appointment. There was a there was a scene
- 24:38Speaker 1: of Cecilia. She was a bitch, of course, like she's
- 24:40Speaker 1: getting she gets home from school, she asks for a sandwich.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Millie thinks she says, I want a bloney sandwich. She
- 24:47Speaker 1: actually said an abalone sandwich. The fuck is that? No idea?
- 24:53Speaker 1: Nina Andrew get home. They're depressed, all right for some reason.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Nina's just hating Milli again. Seese's shoes are all over
- 25:02Speaker 1: the place, there's a sandwich on the ground because she
- 25:04Speaker 1: threw it on the ground, and they look obviously quite upset,
- 25:08Speaker 1: and she says to them, is everything okay? Millie says
- 25:12Speaker 1: to them. Then he goes, it's not your fucking business, Millie.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Why are you so nosy?
- 25:16Speaker 1: Why are you so nosy? Yeah? My days? She just
- 25:22Speaker 1: so me. She goes to Andrew, I'm going upstairs. I
- 25:25Speaker 1: have a head I have a headache. And so Andrews
- 25:28Speaker 1: is down she go and he goes, Oh that sucked.
- 25:31Speaker 1: And Millie goes, is you know, it's everything okay? And
- 25:36Speaker 1: he's like, honestly, not really, do you want to talk
- 25:38Speaker 1: about it?
- 25:38Speaker 3: Not really?
- 25:39Speaker 1: A bit of a pause, and then he goes, it's
- 25:41Speaker 1: not gonna happen for Nina and I. She's she's not
- 25:43Speaker 1: getting pregnant. Tests yeah, she's not getting pregnant, you know.
- 25:47Speaker 1: She's like. He talks about how he can't help but
- 25:50Speaker 1: admit that he's disappointed, but he loves her but you know,
- 25:54Speaker 1: he's always wanted his own kids. He's like, he's like,
- 25:57Speaker 1: I'd have twelve. He loves them. And so then she says, well,
- 26:02Speaker 1: if theres anything I can do, let me know, and
- 26:04Speaker 1: he says, if there actually is, there's a show Nina
- 26:06Speaker 1: really wants to see in the city. If you can
- 26:07Speaker 1: get us some tickets, that'd be lovely cool. So that night,
- 26:12Speaker 1: Millie awake, she is arguing Nina and Andrew arguing under
- 26:16Speaker 1: underneath her. She hears a massive loud crash. She's like, fuck,
- 26:20Speaker 1: do I need to go check this out? Oh goes
- 26:22Speaker 1: to open her door, stuck again. She's scared it terrified,
- 26:25Speaker 1: but it opens. She's in her head again. She goes
- 26:27Speaker 1: she's sneaking down, she's eavesdropping. She's like, here's Nina yelling
- 26:30Speaker 1: at Andrew. It is my fault. It is. He's like,
- 26:32Speaker 1: it's not your fault. You're gonna leave me. You need
- 26:35Speaker 1: someone younger. If it was ten years ago, we could
- 26:37Speaker 1: have had a kid. Whatever. Bh blah blah blah blah blah.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Andrew's like, Nina, stop, stop, I'm not gonna leave you whatever.
- 26:43Speaker 1: She has another loud crash. Millie's thinking about knocking on the.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Door, go back up, going back upstairs.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Oh my days. So somebody on the door. Nina comes out.
- 26:56Speaker 1: She goes, are you eaves dropping one else? She's got
- 26:58Speaker 1: blood all over her hand. She's like, no, I just
- 27:02Speaker 1: I heard crashing. I just wanted to make sure everything
- 27:04Speaker 1: was okay. Like she goes, get the back, get back
- 27:07Speaker 1: into the attic. Milli says, no, yeah, crazy. She goes,
- 27:11Speaker 1: get back into the attic or you're fired. Millie's like,
- 27:15Speaker 1: she goes, she means it too. And then she's thinking
- 27:18Speaker 1: to herself, what if she just killed Andrew and I
- 27:22Speaker 1: can save him? But I didn't. I was like, oh
- 27:26Speaker 1: my god, get the fantasy out of your Jesus Christ.
- 27:29Speaker 3: So she's read too many thriller.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Fucking oath bro. So she's like, I just I heard crashing.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Like she's like, where's Andrew? And nin He goes, my
- 27:37Speaker 1: husband is fine, thank you very much. She hears a
- 27:42Speaker 1: tap running. She has a sense of relief, and nin
- 27:44Speaker 1: He goes, there, you're happy he's alive. What do you
- 27:47Speaker 1: think I would do to my husband? Get back into
- 27:49Speaker 1: the attic. So Nina goes, I'm sorry sorry. Millie goes,
- 27:51Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'm sorry I bothered you. And then she's
- 27:53Speaker 1: about to walk up, and then from a distance, Nina says,
- 27:57Speaker 1: she's like Millie at night, stay in the attic. And
- 28:02Speaker 1: I was thinking, like, does she say that as a
- 28:06Speaker 1: controlling thing or as a warning to like, I don't
- 28:09Speaker 1: know what could happen at night?
- 28:11Speaker 2: I think both, But also I think the bread coming
- 28:14Speaker 2: there is she's gonna start locking her in there at night.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Yeah, she's got and.
- 28:18Speaker 3: She's gonna come back at like eight am and unlock it.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Yeah, insane. Next day, Nina's just acting normal. Andrew's gone
- 28:27Speaker 1: to work. Oh no, he hasn't, not yet. He's getting
- 28:29Speaker 1: ready for work, and Cecilia has been taken to school.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Nina comes back from taking Cecily to school, screeched to
- 28:35Speaker 1: a holt in the driveway. She comes in. She's looking
- 28:37Speaker 1: flustered as fuck, and she's like looking like she hasn't
- 28:41Speaker 1: been keeping herself well. So she's getting gaining more weight.
- 28:44Speaker 1: She's like the roots of her hair are growing out,
- 28:46Speaker 1: and she just isn't looking great. Last couple of weeks.
- 28:48Speaker 1: She comes in, she says, Mellie, you make me breakfast
- 28:51Speaker 1: the usual? Please makes it for her? Some big ass breakfast, right,
- 28:55Speaker 1: and so she's eating it. While she's eating it, Nina's
- 28:57Speaker 1: just not even there. She's barely there. And so she
- 29:02Speaker 1: takes a bite, eggs just get all over her and
- 29:04Speaker 1: shit like that, and she's like oh. And so then
- 29:07Speaker 1: Millie's kind of like, oh, Andrew asked me to get
- 29:08Speaker 1: tickets to this show, would you? How do you feel
- 29:11Speaker 1: about that? She goes, yeah, that'd be great. So she's
- 29:13Speaker 1: such a deer, isn't he He's such a good guy
- 29:15Speaker 1: or whatever, and then she goes, oh, when works for you?
- 29:17Speaker 1: And she's like two weeks from the current Sunday or
- 29:19Speaker 1: some random shit like that, and I was like, whatever,
- 29:22Speaker 1: Andrew comes down and yeah, Nina. She gets up. She
- 29:27Speaker 1: says hello, Andrew, how are you today? And he's like, oh,
- 29:29Speaker 1: you've got some egg on you and she goes, oh, yeah,
- 29:31Speaker 1: how embarrassing. Whatever goes over, gives her a big cuddling kiss,
- 29:33Speaker 1: big whatever. Millie's jealous as fuck, right, and does anything
- 29:39Speaker 1: else happened there?
- 29:40Speaker 3: Really?
- 29:41Speaker 1: No though.
- 29:42Speaker 2: I thought she was gonna like turn her nose up
- 29:44Speaker 2: to the concert or over the play.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Same, but then it's like no.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Yeah, Tue, yeah, oh no, Andrew came down and she
- 29:50Speaker 3: had egg in her mouth and he like wiped it
- 29:52Speaker 3: and she was kind of disgusting, and I.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Was like, yeah, that's about it. So knock knock on
- 29:58Speaker 1: the door. She's alone now by the way, clean in
- 30:01Speaker 1: the house. Knock knock. It's Enzo, big ass package. Heavy
- 30:04Speaker 1: chopes the door. Hi, thank you so much. He brings
- 30:05Speaker 1: it in. She can't get out of there. She wants
- 30:08Speaker 1: to fuck this man, and so she's like, she goes,
- 30:11Speaker 1: I need to fuck someone, right, it may as well
- 30:14Speaker 1: be Enzo because he's sexy as fuck, okay, because I
- 30:17Speaker 1: can't get these fantasies of entry out of my head.
- 30:19Speaker 1: And he's a married man. So she goes, I know
- 30:22Speaker 1: he loves universal language. Ends is about to leave, and
- 30:24Speaker 1: she goes, oh, I d want some water, gives him
- 30:26Speaker 1: some water. It takes a big gulp. She's like, oh,
- 30:28Speaker 1: it has work. Do you want to take a break.
- 30:29Speaker 1: He's like, what work? She puts her hand on his chest.
- 30:33Speaker 1: She's trying to seduce him. He realized what's He realizes
- 30:36Speaker 1: what's about to happen. He backs off. He rejects her
- 30:40Speaker 1: in the worst way possible, screaming at her in Italian
- 30:43Speaker 1: or Spanish or where wherever he's from, right, And she's like,
- 30:47Speaker 1: oh my god, this is so embarrassing. This is the
- 30:48Speaker 1: worst thing that's ever happened to me. And so he
- 30:51Speaker 1: goes to leave, and then he turns around and he says, like, Millie,
- 30:55Speaker 1: you need to leave. It's dangerous. So she's like, what
- 31:01Speaker 1: the fuck is going on here?
- 31:03Speaker 2: As if this isn't sign enough, like he's clearly scared
- 31:07Speaker 2: of this house, all right.
- 31:10Speaker 1: She goes to take Cecilia to tap dance lessons. She
- 31:15Speaker 1: got a pounding headache. Someone next to her, also quite young,
- 31:18Speaker 1: who's clearly also some help. She is like the help
- 31:21Speaker 1: of another rich family. She's like, oh, you want some
- 31:23Speaker 1: mad Phil, Yes, please, I'm Amanda. By the way. She goes, oh,
- 31:28Speaker 1: who are you here with? Amanda says she's here with
- 31:30Speaker 1: some twins. She's like, all about you, and Millie goes, oh,
- 31:32Speaker 1: I'm Cecilia's made or whatever. She's like, oh, you work
- 31:35Speaker 1: for the Winchesters. How's that. It's like, oh, it's all right.
- 31:39Speaker 1: She goes, are you sure or something. She's like that
- 31:43Speaker 1: must be fucking terrible. It's like, how do you mean?
- 31:46Speaker 1: She goes, well, Nina's crazy crazy trying to get answers. Well,
- 31:50Speaker 1: she's like, yeah, she spent you know, she went she's cuckoo.
- 31:54Speaker 1: She spent time in the looney bin. So word for
- 31:57Speaker 1: word what she said. She's like, damn. She goes, yeah,
- 32:02Speaker 1: I've heard rumors about that, but I didn't really nothing
- 32:05Speaker 1: was confirmed. And she's like, you know what she did, right,
- 32:09Speaker 1: He goes, No, she goes, really, she tried to drown
- 32:16Speaker 1: Cecilia when she was a baby. Lucky Andrew called the
- 32:20Speaker 1: cops when he did two minutes later, and they would
- 32:22Speaker 1: have both been dead. I was like, oh my god,
- 32:26Speaker 1: Andrew was at work ten years ago, nine years ago, whatever.
- 32:29Speaker 1: And Nina has a psychotic break drugs. Cecilia puts her
- 32:34Speaker 1: in a bath, drugs herself, gets in the bath. Andrew
- 32:38Speaker 1: just for some reason, senses something weird because he can't
- 32:40Speaker 1: get a hold of them, calls the cops, leaves, gets
- 32:42Speaker 1: there just in time.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Leave please.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Now that is the end of the chapters. Yes, that
- 32:52Speaker 1: went a little longer than expected, but I got into
- 32:53Speaker 1: it athologies, so got carried away. She goes on to
- 32:57Speaker 1: say I need to leave, but she needs a few
- 33:01Speaker 1: more paychecks because she is in a tight spot. She
- 33:05Speaker 1: is stuck in between a rock and a heart place,
- 33:06Speaker 1: so keep that in mind. Yeah, all right, thoughts and feelings,
- 33:10Speaker 1: let's get into it.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Ah, let's probably get into a day.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Oh it's like, you know, sensation when like your skin,
- 33:18Speaker 2: your skin is itchy and your can't it chit.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Yes, it's that. Yeah, that's what she's giving to me.
- 33:23Speaker 1: I want to be honest. I put off until literally
- 33:27Speaker 1: yesterday afternoon reading this book. Not because I don't enjoy
- 33:31Speaker 1: the book. It's gripping and I want to keep reading, obviously,
- 33:34Speaker 1: but to me, it's unrealistic. Now, how much of a
- 33:41Speaker 1: bitch Nina is bipolar or not?
- 33:45Speaker 3: Unrealistic?
- 33:46Speaker 1: Meaning, like, what I liked about this book is that
- 33:49Speaker 1: you can put yourself in Millie's shoes.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, I there's no.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Easy for me to say, because I'm not in a
- 33:59Speaker 1: position I need it. But there is not a single
- 34:03Speaker 1: part of me that would stay there after like I
- 34:08Speaker 1: would have left after the peanut butter or deal. Yeah,
- 34:11Speaker 1: especially after could being confirmed by Andrew what's the alternative?
- 34:14Speaker 1: But so literally, I would prefer five years in jail
- 34:19Speaker 1: with my life intact, then fear for my life in
- 34:22Speaker 1: a fucking attic.
- 34:25Speaker 3: You know what I mean, I don't know.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I think I would after also.
- 34:30Speaker 2: The cleaning, as soon as I found out that she
- 34:33Speaker 2: tried to kill Cecilia, that's when I'm out. Yeah, okay,
- 34:36Speaker 2: out of that, I reckon I would have been like,
- 34:37Speaker 2: I've got no other options.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I'm sleeping like you now.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Hell no, no, I mean, if I've hurt in this situation, Okay,
- 34:44Speaker 2: my options are sleeping in the car. Yeah, I've got
- 34:46Speaker 2: like three weeks till my PRORO officer comes around and
- 34:49Speaker 2: asks what I'm doing. And if I don't have a job,
- 34:50Speaker 2: I'm going back to jail or I can copy this
- 34:52Speaker 2: I'm back, or fuck. I can be treated like shit,
- 34:55Speaker 2: I can be thinking I'm crazy, but I can't be unsafe.
- 34:59Speaker 2: That's my fine thing. The final straw is that she
- 35:02Speaker 2: tried to kill her daughter, Let's be real, the fucking
- 35:04Speaker 2: bloody hand after the argument with the Andrew Yeah right.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Also, I don't know who thinks of this ship.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a crazy good point.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Like so girls like I wrote a book and then
- 35:16Speaker 3: she wrote this.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Yeah she's like she says to her friends, like, just
- 35:20Speaker 1: because apparently this so freedom McFadden.
- 35:23Speaker 3: She is famous as well.
- 35:25Speaker 1: She's famous ads for this book, but she also is like, uh,
- 35:29Speaker 1: she's this is not her main profession. She was something
- 35:32Speaker 1: else beforehand, like very I'm like, I'm sure successful too.
- 35:36Speaker 3: That would scare me.
- 35:37Speaker 1: And so she just like writes this book right, and
- 35:42Speaker 1: it's I don't know what's.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Bet You know how there used to be that ongoing
- 35:47Speaker 2: joke how women used to listen to crime podcasts to
- 35:50Speaker 2: fall asleep.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Yep, is this that the same thing?
- 35:53Speaker 1: Yeah? It is, to be fair, I I dated a
- 35:57Speaker 1: girl that listened to crime podcasts falling asleep, and I
- 35:59Speaker 1: remember on two occasions, every now and then, I like
- 36:02Speaker 1: I could zone it out right and I would fall asleep.
- 36:06Speaker 1: There was two occasions where the story was so gripping
- 36:12Speaker 1: but also so terrifying that I couldn't fall asleep and
- 36:15Speaker 1: I had the worst nightmare.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:17Speaker 2: I think I'm too much of a whim page. Yeah,
- 36:19Speaker 2: because my mind will take over. I've been all alone
- 36:23Speaker 2: at my house recently.
- 36:24Speaker 1: And there's been some noises that would be terrifying and
- 36:26Speaker 1: I'm scared. Yeah, no, no, And it's in the middle
- 36:28Speaker 1: of the day noises to who care?
- 36:30Speaker 3: Yeah, but at night anyone it's home.
- 36:31Speaker 2: I'm a man, Yeah, yeah, I can take I can
- 36:34Speaker 2: take on anyone when I'm having alone.
- 36:35Speaker 3: I'm like doors locked.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Well, you can take on anyone when you can see them,
- 36:38Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I hate darkness a yeah,
- 36:44Speaker 1: something about where I live. It doesn't worry me just
- 36:46Speaker 1: because of like the population density.
- 36:48Speaker 3: But there's more people could do stuff exactly.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Yes, bushes, but that's more people that can hear me scream.
- 36:54Speaker 2: Bushes are scary. Yeah, that's scary. I got no bushes
- 36:57Speaker 2: because they ruffle.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Wait.
- 37:00Speaker 2: But yeah, overall, I'm enjoying it. Hey, I've been listening
- 37:03Speaker 2: a fair bit. Yeah, yeah, her long Island accent I've
- 37:07Speaker 2: become accustomed to.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Okay, but now I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
- 37:11Speaker 4: I'm liking that it's a really easy read.
- 37:13Speaker 2: I think it was the right move after Akata, not
- 37:15Speaker 2: that we didn't like Akatar, just to like press refresh
- 37:18Speaker 2: on the mind.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's just an easy read. Couple chapters here
- 37:22Speaker 3: and they're listening and reading. Overall, we are really good,
- 37:26Speaker 3: but also like kind of scared.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Yeah, me too.
- 37:30Speaker 3: I think like.
- 37:32Speaker 1: The movie, I do think will be scary because it's
- 37:36Speaker 1: a book. It's scary. Shit hasn't even happened to be fair? True,
- 37:39Speaker 1: I want to see if a book can scare me.
- 37:41Speaker 1: I've never been scared of a book. Obviously, suppose it's
- 37:43Speaker 1: your imagination. Hey, yeah, there's no sound effects in a
- 37:46Speaker 1: book like listening or reading. Say, you know, there's some
- 37:52Speaker 1: jump scares in a katar, but when you're reading them,
- 37:55Speaker 1: instead of being like, oh, you're a bit more like
- 37:57Speaker 1: a damn damn they got them?
- 38:00Speaker 3: Yeah, hang on them.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Okay. How do you feel about Millie as of right now?
- 38:07Speaker 3: I have mixed feelings. I think, what's the saying.
- 38:11Speaker 2: She's stuck between a rock and a hard place, and
- 38:14Speaker 2: she's a little bit jarring. I really liked it in
- 38:18Speaker 2: the first ten chapters, but now I'm like, Okay, something
- 38:20Speaker 2: is wrong with you two.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Definitely something wrong with Melli too.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Her decision making is flawed as well as I guess. Also,
- 38:28Speaker 2: who knows what ten years incass race is going to
- 38:30Speaker 2: do to a person. True, Like she hasn't been able
- 38:34Speaker 2: to get off in ten years. The first man that
- 38:36Speaker 2: comes along, she's like, oh.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Yeah, like not hear mely Valley.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Yeah yeah.
- 38:42Speaker 2: But also she said in the first ten chapters, like
- 38:44Speaker 2: there's been people in the bar just fuck one of
- 38:45Speaker 2: those dumb dudes who comes into the bar. She used
- 38:47Speaker 2: to work out, get your hit.
- 38:49Speaker 1: She said that she got hit on a lot.
- 38:51Speaker 3: Yeah, but they're.
- 38:52Speaker 1: All just yeah fives and under Yeah. True, so I
- 38:57Speaker 1: didn't want to.
- 38:58Speaker 3: I'm skeptical of her.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Same I'm skeptical of Millie. She is. She's got a
- 39:04Speaker 1: dark side. She does that throwing of the glass thinking
- 39:07Speaker 1: whoa temper? It's like valid, But Jesus, come on, Nina.
- 39:15Speaker 1: A lot has been explained clearly, she's getting the psych
- 39:18Speaker 1: board tried to kill her kid.
- 39:20Speaker 2: I think so, Milly Nina Cecilia is kind of self
- 39:24Speaker 2: explained or written within the book.
- 39:26Speaker 1: But Andrew. Yeah, wait with Cecilia though, like she's just
- 39:31Speaker 1: a braddy kid, right, But at the same time, maybe
- 39:36Speaker 1: she's young. She's like nine grade four. She's very weird apparently,
- 39:43Speaker 1: like she she only wears these like crazy elegant dresses,
- 39:49Speaker 1: even wears them to school, like she can't play in them.
- 39:52Speaker 1: She's an odd kid. Apparently. The only one that seems
- 39:55Speaker 1: most normal. You're right is Andrew.
- 39:57Speaker 2: But also there's no explanation behind Andrew. He rubs me
- 40:01Speaker 2: the worst because I don't know anything about him. Same
- 40:04Speaker 2: I'm picturing Don Draper from mad Men in my head
- 40:07Speaker 2: is what he looks like. He's handsome, just always clean cut,
- 40:10Speaker 2: always looks like a ten ready to go to work,
- 40:13Speaker 2: comes back and he's just the nicest guy ever.
- 40:16Speaker 3: But he's got fucking trauma. We don't know what it is.
- 40:20Speaker 1: So why is he with Nina is the question? So
- 40:25Speaker 1: like he took over his parents' business and with it
- 40:30Speaker 1: from the amount of time that his parents handed the
- 40:32Speaker 1: business down to him, maybe they passed away or something,
- 40:35Speaker 1: and he's been in control. Apparently he's like ten next it,
- 40:39Speaker 1: so he's rich as fuck. One thing was the package
- 40:43Speaker 1: Fromenzo had a name on it, and it was from
- 40:46Speaker 1: someone Winchester, a cousin or to be like a cousin
- 40:50Speaker 1: or a sister or something of Andrews. So I dare
- 40:53Speaker 1: say it's like a very heavy box as well. I
- 40:55Speaker 1: dare say, we'll figure out what ended up being.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Do you think it is the same anyone who hasn't
- 40:59Speaker 2: seen Mad Men or Don Draper? He do you reking
- 41:03Speaker 2: it's the same thing? His name's not actually Andrew, oh Winchester.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Like he's got a fake persona and personality. That's why
- 41:11Speaker 2: he's perfect and he didn't actually take over his dad's company.
- 41:15Speaker 3: He killed the son and now he's pretending to be
- 41:20Speaker 3: Andrew Winchester.
- 41:22Speaker 1: Shit. Here's the thing though, mad Men came out before this,
- 41:28Speaker 1: so she would have been copying mad Men if she
- 41:30Speaker 1: does that.
- 41:31Speaker 2: He didn't kill her in mad Men. He was a
- 41:34Speaker 2: deserter and they died at war and he just happened
- 41:38Speaker 2: to beat someone else's dog tag.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Yeah, he took someone else's dogtag and then just pretended
- 41:41Speaker 1: to be him because he hated his life prior to
- 41:43Speaker 1: the war.
- 41:43Speaker 3: But Andrew's giving I killed him to get his life.
- 41:48Speaker 1: And then he just has to put on this perfection.
- 41:51Speaker 2: And no one can see through it. But what that
- 41:54Speaker 2: still doesn't explain why he picked Nina she knows? Oh yeah, shit, yeah,
- 42:01Speaker 2: because why else would he go for this psycho girl
- 42:05Speaker 2: with a kid who she tried to kill.
- 42:07Speaker 1: And who apparently is the size of a house. Like
- 42:09Speaker 1: look again, nothing wrong with that, but he didn't go
- 42:11Speaker 1: for personality. Oh that was good.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Ok.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Hey, that's our new prediction.
- 42:20Speaker 3: And what's going to happen with the whole There's something
- 42:23Speaker 3: going on with the kids situation with Millie, Nina and
- 42:27Speaker 3: Andrew there's something going on there.
- 42:28Speaker 4: My prediction wasn't obviously right, we found out, but I still.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Think there's some validity behind that, behind MILLI walking in
- 42:35Speaker 2: on seeing someone fuck or something.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Wait, remember so my prediction last week could still hold.
- 42:41Speaker 1: It's that Cecilia. Maybe not Cecilia now changing the prediction.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Nina killed the last living housemate. Enzo saw it happen, right,
- 42:56Speaker 1: Andrew Rich also, just like he hovered it up. And
- 43:02Speaker 1: the reason Enzo's terrified of this place is because he's
- 43:04Speaker 1: been threatened to be killed and or sent back to mate.
- 43:08Speaker 1: I'm assuming like if he's a citizen, then he's being
- 43:12Speaker 1: threatened to be killed, and if he's not a citizen,
- 43:13Speaker 1: then he is being threatened to have a green card
- 43:15Speaker 1: or visa revoked. Are And Yeah, I think maybe that
- 43:23Speaker 1: could still be it. But I do really like the
- 43:26Speaker 1: thought of Andrew Winchester not being who he said he is.
- 43:29Speaker 1: And yeah, he's killed the son and taken his place.
- 43:34Speaker 4: Wow, maybe they killed the son together her and Nina.
- 43:40Speaker 3: That's why.
- 43:41Speaker 4: And I still I still think something's going on.
- 43:44Speaker 1: You call Cecilia what you're doing? Yeah, because they keep
- 43:47Speaker 1: caulling a in the book.
- 43:50Speaker 4: I still reckon it could be Enzos, like there's something
- 43:52Speaker 4: going on.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Yeah, but so we don't know how long Enzo's known.
- 43:56Speaker 3: There's not much descriptive language.
- 43:58Speaker 1: He says he's worked there for three years.
- 44:00Speaker 2: There's not much descriptive language of Cecilia either, though, other
- 44:03Speaker 2: than it looks like Nina.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Pilskin Yeah, white hair, Yeah, but no, we know that
- 44:10Speaker 1: Enzo's worked there for three years. The English would be better,
- 44:13Speaker 1: That's what Millie said. Yeah, but that means that it
- 44:16Speaker 1: can't be Nina's baby daddy because the kid's nine. He's
- 44:23Speaker 1: only worked at the house for three years. Oh, I
- 44:25Speaker 1: did true, True, unless he's known Nina for ten plotholes
- 44:29Speaker 1: in my predictions, But no, I like that. Okay. I
- 44:33Speaker 1: do want to just finish it to find out what happens,
- 44:35Speaker 1: but it's too juicy juicy.
- 44:38Speaker 2: So before we finish, there's going to be a Patreon
- 44:42Speaker 2: exclusive and we can't do it on Spotify because we'll
- 44:45Speaker 2: get copyrighted. So over on Patreon we will be listening
- 44:49Speaker 2: to I don't know if it's the official but I'm
- 44:51Speaker 2: going to call it the official Housemade Playlist, a little
- 44:54Speaker 2: bit of reactions to the songs and try and I
- 44:57Speaker 2: don't know.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Put faces to the songs.
- 45:01Speaker 1: I like it.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Let's do it all right, batties. That was the Patreon exclusive.
- 45:05Speaker 2: You also get the book Club five days early, as
- 45:08Speaker 2: well as an extra episode every single week on Patreon
- 45:11Speaker 2: for five dollars aud a month.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Yes, but Jake, that is the end of the book Club.
- 45:15Speaker 3: How many chapters are we reading? Up to you next week?
- 45:17Speaker 1: Do you want to do ten again? I like ten?
- 45:20Speaker 1: Do it? Thank you for listening.
- 45:21Speaker 3: Stay bad.
