- 0:00Speaker 1: I have here an email of interest? Is it it
- 0:04Speaker 1: is of interest? Yes, email in trash. It's a sad email,
- 0:14Speaker 1: but with a positive spend to it. Okay, it says here,
- 0:18Speaker 1: Dear Bill. I was hoping to tell you, hoping to
- 0:22Speaker 1: tell you thank you in person, but I don't think
- 0:25Speaker 1: that I would be able to hold it together. This July,
- 0:29Speaker 1: I lost my husband to suicide. The September sixth would
- 0:33Speaker 1: have been our thirteen year anniversary. It also happened to
- 0:37Speaker 1: be the day of the American Foundation for Suicide Preventions
- 0:41Speaker 1: Out of the Darkness Walk, and so I decided to
- 0:44Speaker 1: spend what would have been my anniversary honoring my husband
- 0:47Speaker 1: at the walk. And I just wanted to tell you,
- 0:49Speaker 1: thank you. Thank you for sharing your story and giving
- 0:53Speaker 1: your time to such an important cause. Your sharing your
- 0:57Speaker 1: story has given me hope that even after the loss
- 0:59Speaker 1: of my husband, that life will be okay, that I
- 1:03Speaker 1: will be okay. Today I'm donating my husband's coats to
- 1:08Speaker 1: the Road Home. He was an avid supporter of the
- 1:11Speaker 1: Road Home and donated to them every year. Even though
- 1:15Speaker 1: it's been hard to let go of his things, I
- 1:17Speaker 1: know that this is what he would want. Thank you
- 1:20Speaker 1: again for all that all of you do for the
- 1:24Speaker 1: causes that you support. It means a lot to the
- 1:27Speaker 1: people whose life it impacts. Thank you, Thank you again,
- 1:32Speaker 1: and I'll just leave it anonymous there. But I thought
- 1:35Speaker 1: that was a really remarkable, a remarkable message that out
- 1:41Speaker 1: of something that's very dark and tragic and sad, but
- 1:46Speaker 1: this person is making something good out of it, something
- 1:49Speaker 1: positive out of it.
- 1:50Speaker 2: We hear those stories a lot during this time of
- 1:53Speaker 2: year when we do the Road Home, we do the
- 1:54Speaker 2: Road to the Road Home broadcasts and people come in
- 1:57Speaker 2: and donate. Our next opportunity for that will be next
- 2:01Speaker 2: Wednesday at Riverton Chevrolet in South Jordan.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And we we always want to hear your stories. We
- 2:08Speaker 1: want to hear sure, we want to hear about you
- 2:10Speaker 1: your life and and you know, don't think you're bothering
- 2:14Speaker 1: us or like I mean, yesterday, just this woman came
- 2:18Speaker 1: up to me. I was sitting in a waiting room
- 2:21Speaker 1: at tosh at the doctor's office, and she came up
- 2:24Speaker 1: and I could tell her that she thought maybe she
- 2:26Speaker 1: shouldn't do it, but she did came up and start
- 2:29Speaker 1: talking to me, and then she sat down and we
- 2:31Speaker 1: chatted for a minute. And that's that's fine, that's just great.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Well, we come out to these locations all up and
- 2:39Speaker 2: down the wat Edge Front as an opportunity for people
- 2:41Speaker 2: that maybe have wanted to come by and see us
- 2:44Speaker 2: and say hi. And we're not in your part of
- 2:47Speaker 2: the valley very often, you're welcome to come by.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I come to Rivert and Chevrolet. And now when we're
- 2:53Speaker 1: talking on the radio, we can't we can't pay attention
- 2:56Speaker 1: to you. It's difficult, so you'll have to wait for
- 2:59Speaker 1: a second. But then we do have times break times
- 3:02Speaker 1: and we can chat with you a little bit. And
- 3:04Speaker 1: so we'd love to see you at Riverton Chevrolet this
- 3:06Speaker 1: coming Wednesday. What's the address you need to have that hand.
- 3:09Speaker 2: It's one hundred and eleven South Jordan Gateway. It's right
- 3:13Speaker 2: off the freeway there.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And we need things for the road home. We need coats, coats, blankets,
- 3:19Speaker 1: shoes or socks, infant disposable diapers.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Yeap size five and six, the bigger ones. We need
- 3:28Speaker 2: new bottles and sippy cups.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Maybe you have some nice men's and or women's suits,
- 3:36Speaker 1: Oh yeah, suit clothing like that. It does. Yeah, because
- 3:40Speaker 1: people who are because they're experiencing homelessness doesn't mean that
- 3:44Speaker 1: they don't have to look nice to go look for
- 3:47Speaker 1: a job.
- 3:47Speaker 2: From time to time, it's a good time of year
- 3:49Speaker 2: to go through your own closet. You might be getting
- 3:53Speaker 2: some new things for Christmas, so go through your closet.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I bet you have coats, boots that you don't use anymore,
- 4:02Speaker 2: or even maybe your kids have outgrown and you can
- 4:07Speaker 2: bring them to us. We try to make it easy
- 4:09Speaker 2: for you by coming to where you are to pick
- 4:12Speaker 2: those items up for you. Now, if you can't come
- 4:14Speaker 2: to see us, you're busy or whatever, you go to
- 4:18Speaker 2: X ninety six dot com. Up at the top. There's
- 4:21Speaker 2: a banner there that says road to the Road Home.
- 4:24Speaker 2: If you click on that banner and scroll all the
- 4:26Speaker 2: way to the bottom, there's a big red button that
- 4:28Speaker 2: says donate, you can donate money to the Road Home
- 4:32Speaker 2: right there. You don't have to wait for our annual
- 4:34Speaker 2: road Home broadcast to do that. It's up and live
- 4:37Speaker 2: right now.
- 4:38Speaker 1: So again Wednesday, this coming Wednesday River to Chevrolet. Then
- 4:42Speaker 1: the following Wednesday will be in Leyton at Young Chevrolet.
- 4:49Speaker 1: And then eighteenth and nineteenth I think are the road
- 4:52Speaker 1: home day. Those are the days we're actually at the
- 4:55Speaker 1: homeless shelter.
- 4:55Speaker 2: The Connie Crosby Family Resource Center in Midvale.
- 5:00Speaker 1: So yeah, keep all that in mind. Emails, oh, interest
- 5:07Speaker 1: and
