- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 120, can you believe it? Lucas: I know, it's amazing. And today we're going to tackle something really useful — how to say something hurts. Luna: Oh, that's important. I remember last winter I had a terrible headache, and I didn't know how to say it in Norwegian. Lucas: Well, today we'll fix that. Let's start with the most basic phrase: 'Det gjør vondt.' That means 'It hurts.' Luna: Det gjør vondt. Say that slowly? Lucas: Sure. 'Det' sounds like 'deh', and 'gjør' is like 'yur', and 'vondt' is like 'vont'. So: 'Det gjør vondt.' Luna: Det gjør vondt. Lucas: Perfect. Now, if you have a specific pain, like a headache, you say 'Jeg har vondt i hodet.' Luna: Jeg har vondt i hodet. 'Hodet' is head, right? Lucas: Exactly. So 'Jeg har vondt i hodet' means 'I have a headache.' Luna: Jeg har vondt i hodet. Lucas: Good. And for a stomach ache, it's 'Jeg har vondt i magen.' Luna: Jeg har vondt i magen. So 'magen' is stomach. Lucas: Right. Let's practice a little dialogue. Imagine you're at the doctor's. You say 'Det gjør vondt.' The doctor asks 'Hvor?' And you say 'Jeg har vondt i hodet.' Luna: Det gjør vondt. Jeg har vondt i hodet. Lucas: And then you can ask for help: 'Kan du hjelpe meg?' That's 'Can you help me?' Luna: Kan du hjelpe meg? Lucas: Yes. And after they help you, you say 'Takk for hjelpen' — 'Thanks for the help.' Luna: Takk for hjelpen. So we have a full mini-conversation. Lucas: Exactly. Let's run through it all together. First: Det gjør vondt. Luna: Det gjør vondt. Lucas: Jeg har vondt i hodet. Luna: Jeg har vondt i hodet. Lucas: Kan du hjelpe meg? Luna: Kan du hjelpe meg? Lucas: Takk for hjelpen. Luna: Takk for hjelpen. Lucas: You know, it's moments like this where a podcast like Fexingo really comes in handy. Luna: Totally. Lucas: Good one. 'Ryggen' means back. So 'Jeg har vondt i ryggen.' Luna: Jeg har vondt i ryggen. That's easy. Lucas: And if you have a toothache, it's 'Jeg har vondt i tannen.' Luna: Jeg har vondt i tannen. 'Tannen' is tooth. Lucas: Right. So now you can describe many types of pain. Let's do one more round of the core phrase. Luna: Det gjør vondt. Lucas: Jeg har vondt i hodet. Luna: Jeg har vondt i magen. Lucas: Kan du hjelpe meg? Luna: Takk for hjelpen. Lucas: Perfect. Great job today, Luna. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. And thanks to all our listeners. Keep practicing these phrases, and we'll see you next time on Learn Norwegian with Fexingo.
