- 0:00Speaker 1: Do you and I five? It's the Erica Show. It's
- 0:02Speaker 1: a Monday work. It's probably been hard today. Get Lauren
- 0:05Speaker 1: on the phone. She is about to walk away from everything, y'all.
- 0:09Speaker 2: You know, I'm an executive at a large company that
- 0:12Speaker 2: is running many parts of the world, and I can't
- 0:15Speaker 2: say exactly what that company is. Look honestly, for many
- 0:17Speaker 2: years in corporate America, I'm thinking and walking away and
- 0:20Speaker 2: selling everything to just be not answering any calls.
- 0:23Speaker 1: How long have you been in corporate America?
- 0:25Speaker 3: Twenty years?
- 0:26Speaker 1: And she's about to walk away from it all.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Here's the thing. I've traveled. I've experienced all the luxuries
- 0:31Speaker 2: of life, but when it's all said and done, you
- 0:33Speaker 2: had to think about what really matters, and that's your
- 0:35Speaker 2: peace of mind. That's not working for a company that doesn't.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Care about you.
- 0:39Speaker 2: It's about caring about yourself. Am I scared? How are you?
- 0:42Speaker 2: I'm doing it anyway?
- 0:43Speaker 1: How do you do it though? Because a lot of
- 0:44Speaker 1: us want to do that, but we ain't got no
- 0:45Speaker 1: money at the bank, So.
- 0:47Speaker 2: How do you do it? Well? I in my situation,
- 0:50Speaker 2: I've saved a lot of money. I'm just going to
- 0:52Speaker 2: have to downscam, and that just looks like maybe, you know,
- 0:55Speaker 2: getting rid of the vacation home. Maybe I'm not going
- 0:58Speaker 2: on my usual three holidays a year. You know, I'm
- 1:01Speaker 2: just gonna spread it down some more.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Kudos to you, Lauren, that is exciting for this new chapter.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Anybody else you're willing to walk away from it all?
- 1:08Speaker 1: Maybe you already have, just like Lauren is about to do.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Nine one nine eight six, So one O five to one.
- 1:13Speaker 1: D you want O five? It's the Erica Show. Have
- 1:15Speaker 1: you ever walked away from something major? So Lauren reached out.
- 1:19Speaker 1: She is walking away from corporate America. She's got a
- 1:21Speaker 1: good paying job, and she's like, you know what, I
- 1:23Speaker 1: just want the simple life. Anybody else planning to do
- 1:26Speaker 1: that like Lauren or you already did it? Nine one,
- 1:29Speaker 1: nine eight six so one O five to one, Janine.
- 1:32Speaker 4: I really want to do that.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Okay, so let's stop win. I know what's stop at me.
- 1:36Speaker 4: I'll pay check.
- 1:37Speaker 1: But what what is stopping you from doing that?
- 1:39Speaker 4: Well? You know, I mean it's it's the grass really
- 1:42Speaker 4: greener on the other side and whatnot. But I mean,
- 1:45Speaker 4: it's just like the things that people take seriously in
- 1:48Speaker 4: the corporate world. They're just so petty and don't matter.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Sometimes It's just like I, you know, I'm trying to
- 1:54Speaker 4: find ways to unwind after work, so I'm not so
- 1:57Speaker 4: annoyed with everybody just being like why didn't you on
- 2:00Speaker 4: your email like that? Or oh did you really have
- 2:02Speaker 4: to say that at the meeting. It's very like it's
- 2:04Speaker 4: it's all political, and I don't think there is anything
- 2:08Speaker 4: stopping me. I think I will just do it.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Okay, So maybe the last color motivated you then, and
- 2:12Speaker 1: you're just y'all have to give us updates?
- 2:14Speaker 4: Yes, absolutely?
- 2:16Speaker 1: Do you want to?
- 2:16Speaker 3: Five?
- 2:17Speaker 1: Is the Erica Show? Who out there is willing to
- 2:19Speaker 1: give up some of the luxuries in your life for
- 2:22Speaker 1: a more stress free, simple life. Like Lauren, who's got
- 2:24Speaker 1: a high paying corporate job. But she was like, you
- 2:26Speaker 1: know what, I don't want to answer to anybody anymore.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I'm just gonna have to sell some things. But I'm
- 2:30Speaker 1: quitting at least for a while, to be at peace.
- 2:34Speaker 1: So anybody else have you done that? Nine one nine
- 2:37Speaker 1: eight six one five one Tory?
- 2:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I actually have. I quit my job. I spilled
- 2:43Speaker 3: my townhouse and I'm.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Like, let's just go.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not getting any younger. I want to
- 2:49Speaker 3: see the country.
- 2:50Speaker 1: So how so how long have you been doing it for?
- 2:53Speaker 3: Oh gosh, it's it's probably been about six months now.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Okay, so so far, so good.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Yeah, no regrets. You know, I'm very fortunate that I
- 3:01Speaker 3: have the funds to be able to do that. But
- 3:05Speaker 3: I think, you know, it's kind of winding down. I'm
- 3:08Speaker 3: trying to look for jobs again.
- 3:10Speaker 2: But it's been great.
- 3:11Speaker 3: I've you know, met so many cool people.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And but where do you stay? Do you stay like
- 3:16Speaker 1: in a hotel or you stay in your car? Like
- 3:17Speaker 1: how do you where do you go? And where do
- 3:19Speaker 1: you stay at night? And shower?
- 3:21Speaker 3: I definitely called in a lot of favors with my friends, okay,
- 3:26Speaker 3: like college friends that like lived elsewhere and stuff like that,
- 3:29Speaker 3: and family members. So you've encountered, yes, But every once
- 3:33Speaker 3: in a while, you know, I'll get a hotel and
- 3:35Speaker 3: be a little fancier.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Okay, very cool. And so do you have any regrets
- 3:39Speaker 1: or are you planning to go back to working? Like
- 3:41Speaker 1: what's the plan.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I'm at the point where I'm applying and if they
- 3:44Speaker 3: get back to me and it's a good opportunity, I'm
- 3:47Speaker 3: going to go for it, but I'm not in a
- 3:49Speaker 3: major hurry, like there's still a few places left on
- 3:52Speaker 3: my list I really want to go to to keep
- 3:54Speaker 3: moving forward, you know, whatever life throws at me.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I love that. Well, kudos to you keep us posted
