- Lucas: Luna, ready to pick up where we left off? Luna: Absolutely. Last time we were at the pharmacy, right? Lucas: Exactly. But before you get medicine, you often need a prescription from the doctor. So today, we'll learn how to handle that. Luna: Good idea. I've been practicing my symptoms from episode 121. Lucas: Perfect. So let's start with a key phrase: 'Kan jeg få en resept?' That means 'Can I get a prescription?' Let's break it down. 'Kan jeg få' you know from ordering coffee. Luna: Right, 'kan jeg få en kaffe'. Lucas: Yes. So 'Kan jeg få en resept?' Say it with me. Luna: Kan jeg få en resept? Lucas: Good. Now imagine you need antibiotics. You'd say 'Jeg trenger en resept på antibiotika.' That's 'I need a prescription for antibiotics.' Luna: Jeg trenger en resept på antibiotika. That's a mouthful. Lucas: You got it. 'Antibiotika' is similar to English. Let's practice the whole sentence. Luna: Jeg trenger en resept på antibiotika. Lucas: Perfect. Then the doctor might ask 'Hvor ofte skal du ta den?' meaning 'How often should you take it?' But let's learn the answer: 'En gang om dagen.' That's 'Once a day.' Luna: En gang om dagen. Lucas: Yes. And finally, when you leave, you can say 'Tusen takk for hjelpen.' That's 'A thousand thanks for the help.' Luna: Tusen takk for hjelpen. I like that one. Lucas: Now let's put it in a little scene. Imagine you're at the doctor's. You've explained your symptoms. Then you say... Luna: Kan jeg få en resept? Lucas: And the doctor says 'Hva trenger du?' You say... Luna: Jeg trenger en resept på antibiotika. Lucas: The doctor prescribes it and says 'Ta den en gang om dagen.' You reply... Luna: En gang om dagen. Tusen takk for hjelpen. Lucas: Excellent. You just handled a doctor visit in Norwegian. Luna: That feels really useful. I'm glad we covered this before I actually need it. Lucas: Exactly. Luna: En gang om dagen. Lucas: Tusen takk for hjelpen. Luna: Tusen takk for hjelpen. Lucas: Great job, Luna. Keep practicing these, and next time you're at the doctor's in Norway, you'll be ready.
