- 0:00Speaker 1: Where is ups Man?
- 0:06Speaker 2: Maybe we'll find out. I know you, I just who cares?
- 0:24Speaker 3: I love talking about me?
- 0:26Speaker 1: What else would we talk about on the show, though,
- 0:28Speaker 1: Like there's no news right now?
- 0:30Speaker 3: That's true, it's a all.
- 0:32Speaker 4: So are you saying we only invited him because we
- 0:35Speaker 4: have nothing better to talk about?
- 0:36Speaker 1: What?
- 0:38Speaker 2: I'm no?
- 0:39Speaker 3: That's what? Never? Why are you suppose? Why are you
- 0:45Speaker 3: exposing us like this? I think the Creator series could
- 0:54Speaker 3: be something very interesting? Right? But what's going on? Everybody?
- 0:59Speaker 3: I'm the one, the only Oh okay, I e one
- 1:02Speaker 3: French fries short of a happy meal. No, Felix, he's
- 1:06Speaker 3: out judging his new friends in his new game. Is
- 1:10Speaker 3: he playing that game or no? Is he playing? I
- 1:15Speaker 3: don't know, because like Felix, I feel like Felix plays
- 1:17Speaker 3: seventeen different CCGs and I don't know how he does it.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I don't think play Riftbound competitively. But yeah
- 1:26Speaker 1: he plays a little bit.
- 1:27Speaker 3: He knows it. Why would you judge that game if
- 1:29Speaker 3: you don't want to play it competitively? But we have
- 1:33Speaker 3: for the mistifits we do have here. We've got the
- 1:35Speaker 3: guy who knows more than you, mister Cole Robbie yo yo,
- 1:39Speaker 3: and that kid Dexter. Hello, everyone's I don't say dexter,
- 1:46Speaker 3: that's you. And I figured we do something new now
- 1:49Speaker 3: that we have a little bit of lull and we're
- 1:51Speaker 3: kind of getting into the holidays, right, quick reminder and
- 1:56Speaker 3: how we do holiday episodes the week of the twenty
- 2:02Speaker 3: fifth and of the first, there will be no altered
- 2:08Speaker 3: corner because those will be taking time off to spend
- 2:11Speaker 3: precious time with our family. There's the holidays. It is
- 2:14Speaker 3: the family season. If you're listening to a podcast, shame on.
- 2:18Speaker 3: You go talk to your kids.
- 2:23Speaker 4: I didn't know I had any.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Well, you don't go talk to your significant other.
- 2:28Speaker 5: You don't have kids of your own. Talk to someone else's.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Yah, talk to someone else. Just don't get caught because
- 2:34Speaker 3: it's kind of frowned upon nowadays.
- 2:37Speaker 4: But it's what I do all day.
- 2:39Speaker 3: So on this episode of what I'm going to announce
- 2:43Speaker 3: as the creator series, we bought on a guy trying.
- 2:47Speaker 3: What's going on? Guy trying? Oh? Nothing much? Thank you
- 2:52Speaker 3: so much for having me on.
- 2:53Speaker 5: You guys are actually my number two podcasts and my
- 2:57Speaker 5: Spotify wrapped.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Who is number one? Those guys days, Gartha, No, they
- 3:02Speaker 3: were number three. They're way better.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Dungeons and Daddies a d podcast.
- 3:11Speaker 3: That's it's quite the name that I wish I would
- 3:14Speaker 3: have thought of. That is quite the place.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Is you guys?
- 3:20Speaker 3: Oh nice, nice, nice, But we don't have some questions
- 3:26Speaker 3: to go over. Before we get into our questions, I
- 3:29Speaker 3: suppose we should pay some bills. Head over to the Patreon.
- 3:33Speaker 3: You guys can get these semi early, sometimes not all
- 3:36Speaker 3: the time. If you bug Coal enough, he'll bug me
- 3:41Speaker 3: to edit and then I'll put it on. I'll get
- 3:43Speaker 3: it to him. That's kind of how it works. You
- 3:47Speaker 3: bug Cole, he bugs me, and then I do that.
- 3:50Speaker 3: And if you'd like, it's gonna be some late nights
- 3:53Speaker 3: for some of us going into the holidays, having to
- 3:57Speaker 3: stay up till the wee hours of the morning gift
- 3:59Speaker 3: wrapping press. You might need some W energy, so you
- 4:01Speaker 3: can go to w dot gg use our code draw
- 4:05Speaker 3: better for ten off your W. If you don't want
- 4:09Speaker 3: to chug coffee, you can chug w.
- 4:13Speaker 5: And isn't it true that that actually helps you draw
- 4:15Speaker 5: better when you play TCGs?
- 4:17Speaker 3: You know? I yeah, I didn't want I didn't want
- 4:20Speaker 3: to go spread that around, but I've heard it does.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Just saying and if you're really in the Christmas spirit,
- 4:29Speaker 3: you can visit our possible you guys ready for this
- 4:33Speaker 3: our possible new sponsor of the show. Are you guys
- 4:35Speaker 3: ready for our possible new sponsor?
- 4:38Speaker 1: Absolutely?
- 4:40Speaker 3: Who do you mean? Alert? You guys can go check
- 4:43Speaker 3: out Lord, I'm alert dot com.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Are they actually sponsoring us, Wookie or you just keep
- 4:50Speaker 1: trying to get this.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Is well, it's it's in the talks, right. Sponsor might
- 4:56Speaker 3: be a loose term. I might, I might because like,
- 4:59Speaker 3: why does mal They've been around this long, why does
- 5:01Speaker 3: Malert need us? Right, They're already a terrible alcohol that
- 5:06Speaker 3: has survived like decades without us, So they don't need
- 5:11Speaker 3: and like they do no advertising, they don't do anything.
- 5:14Speaker 3: They're just around and known as just this terrible, awful alcohol.
- 5:20Speaker 3: They don't really need us, right, So it's kind of
- 5:22Speaker 3: a thing that I'm just like, look, can we just
- 5:24Speaker 3: say we're sponsored by you? Get? We don't really expect anything, right,
- 5:27Speaker 3: I just you know, it's kind of become it's kind
- 5:30Speaker 3: of become a key Forge like badge of honor. Right.
- 5:36Speaker 3: You know when we go to key Forge celebrations, I
- 5:41Speaker 3: always pick out the foreigners and I I now what
- 5:45Speaker 3: I am lovingly calling malerting them right we go? Do
- 5:48Speaker 3: you go do a quote unquote shot with them and
- 5:51Speaker 3: you're serving them alert and they look at you funny,
- 5:53Speaker 3: except for the one Taiwanese kid who's like, I like
- 5:56Speaker 3: it when everyone looked at him funny?
- 6:00Speaker 5: Do these did these events exclusively happened in Chicago. I
- 6:05Speaker 5: didn't know milort was the thing outside.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Of the They're in Minnesota, but other people just bring malort.
- 6:11Speaker 3: So yeah, get the store. It's every You could literally
- 6:15Speaker 3: buy it everywhere. All I have to actively search it.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I went to Chicago once and my friend works at
- 6:24Speaker 3: a bar there. I was like, you can't say you've
- 6:26Speaker 3: been to Chicago until you've had a shot him alert.
- 6:29Speaker 3: It's like okay. So I just didn't know it was
- 6:33Speaker 3: a thing anywhere else. Yeah, this all started probably about
- 6:37Speaker 3: two years ago when Sydney brought a bottle and tried
- 6:41Speaker 3: to get everybody to take a shot. It might have
- 6:43Speaker 3: been three years ago. It was like, everybody needs to
- 6:46Speaker 3: do a shot him alert. And I looked at her
- 6:48Speaker 3: and I said, no, no, dear, I respect myself so
- 6:50Speaker 3: I won't be doing any of that, and then ended
- 6:53Speaker 3: up drinking half a bottle later on. So but long
- 6:56Speaker 3: story short, right, long story short. It's just become a
- 7:00Speaker 3: thing now that we do. If I ever go to
- 7:04Speaker 3: a large altern event, I will attempt to bring the
- 7:09Speaker 3: tradition with me. I doubt it will go as well,
- 7:13Speaker 3: but you know, it's It's one of those things now
- 7:17Speaker 3: where you just you drink some alert and kind of
- 7:20Speaker 3: do it. The next time Loki comes to town, you
- 7:22Speaker 3: should try to get him to draw alert.
- 7:26Speaker 4: How about you just leave that on the keyboard side
- 7:29Speaker 4: of things and we'll be more refined over here on.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Altered, more refined.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Oh so, like Zambuca, I don't know what do you
- 7:42Speaker 4: do any drinking while playing card games?
- 7:45Speaker 3: Sir?
- 7:46Speaker 4: Trying?
- 7:48Speaker 5: I you know, I'm a garbage can on pretty much whatever.
- 7:54Speaker 5: The only thing I avoid is gin personally.
- 7:57Speaker 3: That's fair, but.
- 8:00Speaker 5: That's just because some people my family don't like gin,
- 8:05Speaker 5: and so I've just avoided it myself because of that.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Jin and tequila I try to avoid at all costs.
- 8:12Speaker 4: I think if there is an alcohol of Altered, it
- 8:15Speaker 4: would have to be sake. So that's okay.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Loki loves sakes.
- 8:20Speaker 3: It's just because.
- 8:22Speaker 4: Hot or cold, usually cold, but they'll take it they'll
- 8:27Speaker 4: take it either. I'm sure, yeah, yeah, I mean, I
- 8:31Speaker 4: know this episode is not about Loki, but a lot
- 8:34Speaker 4: of people might not know that he's like training to
- 8:37Speaker 4: be a sake Somalia and stuff. Really he's he's very
- 8:43Speaker 4: well versed in that alcohol and that is what is
- 8:47Speaker 4: being consumed nine percent of the time at altered events.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Sake. Hey, I'm I'm I'm training to become an alcoholic,
- 8:58Speaker 3: as most Wisconsin people do.
- 9:01Speaker 4: It's either that or just beer, lots of beer.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Beer.
- 9:05Speaker 4: And the French have beer. They they were drinking it
- 9:12Speaker 4: a lot when they were here. Francois had the freaking
- 9:16Speaker 4: yard or whatever.
- 9:19Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe that's because they don't have it in French.
- 9:22Speaker 3: That was gonna say. Maybe maybe they're like, oh beer,
- 9:24Speaker 3: we can't get that where we're from, so let's drink up.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Not that Germany is not like right next door to
- 9:30Speaker 3: them or anything like right away.
- 9:36Speaker 4: I think when I was in Paris it was sake,
- 9:38Speaker 4: so that's what they mean. Or wine.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Japan has significant ye wine. Wine would surprise me. But
- 9:47Speaker 3: it's time to get into the bitter truths of all this.
- 9:52Speaker 3: And I see that mister Cole Robbie has left out
- 9:56Speaker 3: the most important questions, So we're gonna start with those first.
- 10:00Speaker 3: All right, guy trying? All right, what is your favorite
- 10:03Speaker 3: flavor of mountain dew? And I actually don't drink soda?
- 10:10Speaker 3: Oh boy, get him off the show. We can't air it.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Uh.
- 10:16Speaker 5: The only time I have soda is when it's mixed
- 10:19Speaker 5: with alcohol.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Oh yeah, speaking of alcohol, So you only drink soda
- 10:26Speaker 3: when you drink when you only as mixers?
- 10:28Speaker 5: A yeah, it's actually pretty ironic. Uh, my dad was
- 10:36Speaker 5: This is guya gett a bit dark, but I don't
- 10:37Speaker 5: care about talking about it. My dad was an alcoholic
- 10:40Speaker 5: and he went to rehab and I was drinking a
- 10:42Speaker 5: lot of soda, so I gave up soda to as
- 10:46Speaker 5: like a kid too, in solidarity with him. Okay, mine
- 10:52Speaker 5: stuck a little better than his did. But but now
- 10:55Speaker 5: the irony is I only drink soda when there's alcohol
- 10:59Speaker 5: in it. When the whole thing was about me giving
- 11:01Speaker 5: up soda was around giving up alcohol.
- 11:06Speaker 3: All right, Well, sorry to bring up dark past. I
- 11:11Speaker 3: don't even know. I'm very open about it.
- 11:13Speaker 4: I don't care and that we have that in common.
- 11:16Speaker 3: So yeah, what is uh what is your favorite girl
- 11:21Speaker 3: scout cookie?
- 11:23Speaker 5: Oh oh it's gotta be. What are like the shortbread ones?
- 11:32Speaker 5: Short breads? Yeah, I'm a sucker for shortbreads are just
- 11:36Speaker 5: called shortbreads.
- 11:37Speaker 3: I'm not sure, I'm not I'm not.
- 11:42Speaker 2: I know, I know.
- 11:43Speaker 3: You guys are thin mint people. No, no, no, no, no, no,
- 11:48Speaker 3: not me. Maybe Cole yep, Cole likes the thin mints.
- 11:53Speaker 3: I am a Samoans guy. Or caramel delights all the way. Oh,
- 11:58Speaker 3: caramel delights are good. Yeah, those are very those are
- 12:00Speaker 3: the best, the best. And then another fan favorite of
- 12:06Speaker 3: all time? What's your favorite pop tart? Ooh, I have
- 12:12Speaker 3: to say I love the Smorest pop tarts. Okay, we
- 12:15Speaker 3: can keep him. He's acceptable, we keep him around, all right,
- 12:22Speaker 3: So two for three we'll take it is an acceptable answer.
- 12:28Speaker 3: I don't know if fin mince is, but shortbreads are acceptable.
- 12:33Speaker 3: But we did this to highlight creators in the space,
- 12:37Speaker 3: right guy trying? What do you create in the space
- 12:41Speaker 3: of altered besides an obnoxiously high rating on bg A Hey,
- 12:50Speaker 3: I don't think I have a high rating on BGA.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I'm righty of us for sure.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah, but higher than three hundred is very high
- 12:59Speaker 1: in my opinion.
- 13:00Speaker 5: Oh great, Yeah, I think I'm at like four oh
- 13:03Speaker 5: two right now.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I create videos.
- 13:08Speaker 5: I mainly started with deck guides, although I've been doing
- 13:10Speaker 5: mainly news recently. And the thing that I'm most known
- 13:16Speaker 5: for is the spoiler sheet, which every speeler season.
- 13:22Speaker 3: I was gonna say, Twitch we one hundred percent abuse
- 13:25Speaker 3: on this.
- 13:26Speaker 5: I know, uh there, I will say I love spoiler
- 13:32Speaker 5: season because everyone everyone's like, oh and thanks to a
- 13:35Speaker 5: guy trying and to be like, oh, I do this
- 13:38Speaker 5: for myself. I do not do this for the community.
- 13:40Speaker 5: I want to know about all the spoilers. I just
- 13:42Speaker 5: let you all in on my own OCD about collecting everything.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, I've noticed another another thing about like Altered
- 13:54Speaker 3: and our key Forge, there is both an un in
- 14:01Speaker 3: both games have an unhealthy obsession with Excel sheets.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Spreadsheets are great.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it's something wrong with that. It's really unhealthy how
- 14:14Speaker 3: much Altered players and key Forge players love spreadsheets.
- 14:20Speaker 1: And all card game players love spreadsheets. We like to
- 14:23Speaker 1: see the data.
- 14:24Speaker 5: I've gotten into fights with people over fonts, Houston spreadsheets.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I'm insane. Have you ever done because have you ever competed?
- 14:33Speaker 3: And I forget what it's called. At one time I
- 14:36Speaker 3: knew there is a competition for just spreadsheeting.
- 14:41Speaker 5: Uh no, because I believe that's mainly about like the
- 14:44Speaker 5: formulas and the organization of everything.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm okay with formulas.
- 14:49Speaker 5: My I started making spreadsheets a while ago to consolidate
- 14:54Speaker 5: information on Mafia and Werewolf games I was playing online,
- 14:58Speaker 5: like over a couple of months. It was these games
- 15:01Speaker 5: that people developed, and they would be up to seventy
- 15:06Speaker 5: five people would be playing in one game. Oh wow,
- 15:08Speaker 5: and so you'd be trying to track what everyone's saying
- 15:10Speaker 5: and everything, and so you would make everyone would have
- 15:13Speaker 5: their own spreadsheet to consolidate information. So it was not
- 15:16Speaker 5: so much about formulas and functions, but just organizing information.
- 15:20Speaker 5: And I always wanted mine to be aesthetically pleasing. So
- 15:24Speaker 5: whenever I would join a team in one of these things,
- 15:27Speaker 5: it's like, oh, yeah, we approve you can be part
- 15:30Speaker 5: of our spreadsheet. I would immediately ask if I could
- 15:32Speaker 5: change the fonts and make it pretty, because I didn't
- 15:35Speaker 5: want to have their basic ass spreadsheets no time, no, no, no,
- 15:42Speaker 5: I'm a lexand girly all lexends all the way.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Oh boy, I've never even heard of that font before.
- 15:50Speaker 3: We'll check it out. It'll change your life. Go look
- 15:53Speaker 3: at Eddie's spreadsheet. He's done.
- 15:57Speaker 1: What? Oh okay, I just never knew the name of
- 16:03Speaker 1: that font.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Well it's in the top left corner, Sus Christ. So
- 16:12Speaker 3: what other card games have you done?
- 16:16Speaker 5: I've I've played a bunch of card games. I just
- 16:20Speaker 5: I enjoyed tcg's so much. I started playing Magic and
- 16:25Speaker 5: Yuki Oh and Pokemon as a kid. But I would
- 16:28Speaker 5: hang out at my local game store in the mall,
- 16:31Speaker 5: and I would spend any allowance I had buying starter
- 16:34Speaker 5: decks or packs for random games. So I would learn
- 16:37Speaker 5: a new game probably once a month, and the owner
- 16:43Speaker 5: of the card shop was like, yes, you know, he
- 16:46Speaker 5: probably played most of these games as well, so he
- 16:48Speaker 5: would play with me if the store wasn't too busy. Recently,
- 16:52Speaker 5: I play two major card games which are altered in
- 16:56Speaker 5: Flesh and Blood, although I've dabble in Ribound Lorcana, a
- 17:04Speaker 5: little bit of Star Wars and Limited and Oh God,
- 17:09Speaker 5: I feel like I'm oh Grand Archive. I think I'm
- 17:15Speaker 5: missing a couple of others, but I just a one piece.
- 17:17Speaker 5: I enjoy playing any card game. I enjoy games, some
- 17:21Speaker 5: of them I devote more time to. But I'm always
- 17:23Speaker 5: down to learn anything.
- 17:27Speaker 4: Yeah, you've talked about and mentioned playing a lot of
- 17:33Speaker 4: different TCGs. Have you has altered been the first one
- 17:40Speaker 4: that you've really done a bunch of stuff for. I
- 17:42Speaker 4: thought there was a time you said you did something
- 17:45Speaker 4: for another game. Maybe I've made it up.
- 17:48Speaker 5: I used it wasn't a training card game, but I
- 17:52Speaker 5: used to be a tournament organizer for Pokemon video game
- 17:59Speaker 5: and I although that was mostly online, and I made
- 18:05Speaker 5: a couple of spreadsheets for that as well to consolidate
- 18:08Speaker 5: release information once week, like when a new game came out.
- 18:12Speaker 5: We're trying to collect all the stats for Pokemon. I
- 18:15Speaker 5: was very into the Pokemon video games, but I'd never
- 18:18Speaker 5: really played the card game that much. So that's probably
- 18:21Speaker 5: the other game I've done the most for. The other
- 18:24Speaker 5: game I played the most recently is Flesh and Blood,
- 18:27Speaker 5: but I haven't done anything for that community other than
- 18:32Speaker 5: my local game store f that community.
- 18:35Speaker 3: That's why what's wrong with the Flesh and Blood community?
- 18:38Speaker 3: What they do? I don't know just what.
- 18:42Speaker 4: He doesn't want to make any spreadsheets, so you know
- 18:45Speaker 4: they ain't cool enough.
- 18:47Speaker 5: I will say I was talking about this with someone
- 18:50Speaker 5: that packed some plugged I love both Altered and Flesh
- 18:54Speaker 5: and Blood. I think they have a lot of similarities,
- 18:58Speaker 5: not in game design, but just in the way that
- 19:01Speaker 5: the game plays out and incremental advancements over the course
- 19:05Speaker 5: of a long game as opposed to winning in just
- 19:07Speaker 5: one turn. But there's no way to play Flesh and
- 19:12Speaker 5: Blood casually. You always have to feel like you're fully online.
- 19:17Speaker 5: It's hard to play a game and feel okay, at
- 19:21Speaker 5: least for me to really feel okay with losing, because
- 19:24Speaker 5: you're trying so hard, you're going back and forth so much.
- 19:28Speaker 5: The one of the reasons I loved Altered so much
- 19:31Speaker 5: is because I felt like I could have fun while losing,
- 19:35Speaker 5: while still enjoying the game and try. I always try
- 19:38Speaker 5: to win, but it didn't feel It felt like I
- 19:41Speaker 5: could let my breath out and I didn't have to
- 19:44Speaker 5: always be on and making every optimal decision.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that's how key Forge and Altered are for me.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Like I'm okay winning, I'm okay losing, and I still
- 19:55Speaker 1: have fun. But in other games like Star Wars Unlimited,
- 19:57Speaker 1: Flesh and Blood, Riftbound, if I don't win, I don't
- 20:00Speaker 1: and have a good time.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Are you sure you're okay not winning?
- 20:04Speaker 1: Are you sure yeah, for altered in key Forge, I
- 20:07Speaker 1: can still have a good time.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Mm hmmm, you've never gotten upset at losing it altered.
- 20:13Speaker 4: I didn't say that.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I said that I can still have fun. There are
- 20:19Speaker 1: times that I will get mad and salty about losing
- 20:21Speaker 1: a game.
- 20:22Speaker 4: I was gonna say, I thought you got upset whenever
- 20:25Speaker 4: you lost every time. No, glad to know that you
- 20:31Speaker 4: can still have some fun.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Yep.
- 20:34Speaker 3: The whole idea of being able to have fun while
- 20:36Speaker 3: losing is just wild to me. I mean that's the
- 20:39Speaker 3: best way to be explain it.
- 20:44Speaker 4: I mean, if you can have fun while losing, then
- 20:46Speaker 4: you have fun while winning, then what, well, you know,
- 20:49Speaker 4: you're just always having fun.
- 20:52Speaker 3: I understand the idea. I just don't understand the plight
- 20:56Speaker 3: of like, yeah, it was fun even though I lost.
- 21:00Speaker 3: I had a good time because like usually it's like, ah,
- 21:04Speaker 3: I hate losing. Maybe that's just the competitive nature in
- 21:07Speaker 3: me that comes out fire too much. I just I
- 21:11Speaker 3: I have never been cool losing. Ever.
- 21:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I think it's also you know, depends
- 21:20Speaker 5: on what you're putting, what your expectations are going into
- 21:23Speaker 5: any match or game. I am you know, I knew
- 21:30Speaker 5: a lot of people who when we were going to
- 21:32Speaker 5: our local tumults, who were like, I need to win this,
- 21:36Speaker 5: like I need to I will feel bad if I
- 21:40Speaker 5: if I don't win this, I'm going for number one
- 21:43Speaker 5: and nothing else, Whereas I I feel like if I
- 21:47Speaker 5: put that much pressure on myself, I'm going to crack.
- 21:50Speaker 5: I'm not going to be able to properly function. So
- 21:54Speaker 5: I just I aim for top eight, which is still
- 21:56Speaker 5: you know, I'm still trying, but and I get my point.
- 22:00Speaker 5: I go for top of faction, top eight and then
- 22:03Speaker 5: number one. But I'll be okay if I don't hit
- 22:07Speaker 5: number one. Whereas, uh, the first tumult I won, the
- 22:12Speaker 5: person who was going up against wanted so badly to win,
- 22:17Speaker 5: and I kind of felt bad about winning.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:22Speaker 3: I think that it.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Happends a lot on the mindset that you have and
- 22:25Speaker 1: what you expect is going to happen, and how much
- 22:27Speaker 1: work you put in and practice. Yeah, because if you
- 22:30Speaker 1: put in a whole lot of practice, you're gonna want
- 22:32Speaker 1: to win and feel a lot worse if you do lose.
- 22:34Speaker 1: But if you just like kind of casual and you
- 22:36Speaker 1: don't care, then it's not going to feel as bad.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:40Speaker 4: I think that is a big testament to Alter though,
- 22:43Speaker 4: is it is the type of game where when you're losing,
- 22:47Speaker 4: it doesn't feel as bad as a lot of others,
- 22:51Speaker 4: like even it's I don't know if I've ever maybe
- 22:56Speaker 4: once lost a game of Altered where I did like nothing,
- 22:59Speaker 4: like you know, didn't move at least once or twice.
- 23:03Speaker 4: But like I went to like a street Fighter tournament once,
- 23:07Speaker 4: and the losing there is just like horrible because it's
- 23:10Speaker 4: like you're just getting your ass absolutely kicked, like left
- 23:13Speaker 4: and right.
- 23:16Speaker 3: They're like street Fight or the video game. Yeah, yeah,
- 23:20Speaker 3: you're a big fighting game. Dude, are you gonna cool?
- 23:23Speaker 4: I'm just a big gamer, man.
- 23:25Speaker 3: I know, I get it. I don't know. Just like
- 23:27Speaker 3: I said, I have done both. I have put in
- 23:33Speaker 3: a lot of time and effort to crash out, and
- 23:36Speaker 3: I have put in zero time and effort to crash out.
- 23:40Speaker 3: So both suck because you're in your hat either way
- 23:45Speaker 3: because you're like, man, if I only would have put
- 23:47Speaker 3: more time and effort, and then you're not thinking about that,
- 23:50Speaker 3: oh that one time I put in all that time
- 23:51Speaker 3: and effort, I still crashed out. I don't know. Just
- 23:55Speaker 3: for me, I've I've had times where it's like, yep,
- 23:58Speaker 3: I just I was too far in front of the meta,
- 24:02Speaker 3: or I was bad in the meta, or whatever the
- 24:04Speaker 3: case may be, and it's upsetting. And then I've had
- 24:09Speaker 3: times where it's like, yep, I'm playing something different. I
- 24:12Speaker 3: don't know. I never expect to win when I go
- 24:15Speaker 3: into something. Is that weird? That's not my expectation. But
- 24:19Speaker 3: I guess my goal is always to at least top eight,
- 24:24Speaker 3: which I don't do a lot either, so because it's
- 24:29Speaker 3: I'm literally I'm either second place or nothing.
- 24:34Speaker 5: I will also say I haven't competed at any high
- 24:37Speaker 5: level in altered. My local nights are Monday and Wednesdays,
- 24:43Speaker 5: so I've always I've never been able to do the
- 24:46Speaker 5: A Wall tournaments when they were running because it always conflicted.
- 24:50Speaker 5: I did not do any I did not do any
- 24:52Speaker 5: of the qualifiers, any qualifier that I would have been
- 24:57Speaker 5: able to participate in, such as like the BGA qualif fires.
- 25:00Speaker 4: I was.
- 25:03Speaker 5: Thankfully asked by the A Wall team to help do
- 25:06Speaker 5: some coverage, and then for the Baltimore qualifier, which was
- 25:09Speaker 5: at my local game store, I ran coverage for that event. Yeah,
- 25:15Speaker 5: games and stuff, I'm there, you know, Yeah.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I love.
- 25:23Speaker 4: Of course, of course they know Dom. What are you
- 25:25Speaker 4: talking about?
- 25:25Speaker 3: We all know, well I know, but I'm just saying
- 25:28Speaker 3: Dom is one of the one of ours. I was
- 25:31Speaker 3: gonna say, I keep meaning to uh ask Dom to
- 25:34Speaker 3: uh to teach me some KeyForge because I'm curious. Uh,
- 25:38Speaker 3: but uh, he was busy with.
- 25:42Speaker 5: Key Forge worlds not too long ago and then has
- 25:47Speaker 5: been busy since with like holidays and stuff like that.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Yeah, but I do ask about how I kicked his
- 25:53Speaker 3: ass and the sealed open. I will ask me about that,
- 25:58Speaker 3: because I did, and I was not feeling bad about
- 26:01Speaker 3: it that day because I had O to the day
- 26:05Speaker 3: previous and I was like, come here, don let me
- 26:08Speaker 3: teach you something. And I'm sure to relive that. I
- 26:15Speaker 3: was gonna say I was.
- 26:16Speaker 1: I was. You know.
- 26:17Speaker 3: It was funny because we we hung out with him
- 26:19Speaker 3: a lot when we were in Baltimore for the Vault
- 26:22Speaker 3: tour and we went we went to a place I
- 26:26Speaker 3: can't remember the place it was called, but where we parked.
- 26:30Speaker 3: We had to walk through the hood right and not
- 26:33Speaker 3: a very you could tell, not great part of town
- 26:36Speaker 3: right and wherever Baltimore to get there, and then he
- 26:40Speaker 3: tried to lead us back to the car to the
- 26:42Speaker 3: Korean karaoke place. He's like, that place is great, and
- 26:46Speaker 3: I'm like, I am not walking back there because everybody
- 26:51Speaker 3: I know.
- 26:51Speaker 5: Of one Korean karaoke place. But it's not like I
- 26:55Speaker 5: wouldn't say it's in Baltimore proper.
- 26:57Speaker 3: I don't think it. I don't think we were in
- 26:58Speaker 3: I don't know where we were, to be honest with you.
- 27:00Speaker 3: We were just in a place and all I know
- 27:03Speaker 3: is we were walking past and I was pretty sure
- 27:05Speaker 3: someone was laying on the sidewalk dead, and I'm like, oh, Lauren,
- 27:09Speaker 3: we should not be here.
- 27:11Speaker 2: This is bad.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:13Speaker 5: I guess you kind of get used to stuff because
- 27:15Speaker 5: I like, I was born in Baltimore County, and I've
- 27:19Speaker 5: lived in proximity to Baltimore most of my life, and
- 27:24Speaker 5: I've lived in Baltimore City for like, I don't know,
- 27:31Speaker 5: ten years or something like that of yours.
- 27:33Speaker 3: So you kind of just get used to things. I
- 27:35Speaker 3: would say, is this just a common occurrence?
- 27:39Speaker 5: I was talking to a friend of mine in Utah,
- 27:42Speaker 5: where it's like, oh, yeah, you would feel He was like, oh,
- 27:45Speaker 5: I went for a late night walk at like three am.
- 27:48Speaker 5: I was like, that's insane. I would never do that,
- 27:51Speaker 5: even though I live in a nice part of Baltimore.
- 27:53Speaker 2: I would never do that.
- 27:54Speaker 5: And he was like, I I just didn't realize that
- 27:58Speaker 5: other people don't worry about that type of stuff.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Yeah, Baltimorre's a great place.
- 28:03Speaker 2: I love it.
- 28:03Speaker 3: But yeah, we're walking by and I'm just I'm just looking.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Here's a lady's she has a shoe right, just one,
- 28:10Speaker 3: and I'm like, oh my god, she's dead. Like she's
- 28:12Speaker 3: she's dead, she's not moving. It's it's it's a million
- 28:16Speaker 3: degrees outside, right, it was. It was hot, and I'm
- 28:20Speaker 3: just like, oh my god, she's dead. And the other
- 28:22Speaker 3: three guys are so far in front of me as
- 28:24Speaker 3: we go to this I guess it's like a it's
- 28:27Speaker 3: a cocktail bar of someplace. I can't remember where it was.
- 28:30Speaker 3: It was kind of a pinky's up joint, but yeah,
- 28:34Speaker 3: I was just like and then we were like, oh,
- 28:37Speaker 3: we're gonna go do karaoke and Dom's like, yeah, there's
- 28:39Speaker 3: this place right up the street here. I'm like, we're
- 28:41Speaker 3: not going back that direction. You must be crazy, sir.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Did you see the lady laying on the ground? And
- 28:48Speaker 3: He's like oh no, I drove here and I was like, exactly, So, yeah, oh,
- 28:55Speaker 3: all right, this is Cole's question. I'm gonna let cold
- 28:58Speaker 3: do it have at it?
- 29:01Speaker 4: All right?
- 29:02Speaker 3: Who is your daddy and what does he do? That
- 29:04Speaker 3: was a terrible Arnold Swartzenegger.
- 29:07Speaker 4: It was. It was very terrible. Actually, probably one of
- 29:10Speaker 4: my worst.
- 29:12Speaker 5: So I when I saw the show notes for this,
- 29:16Speaker 5: I thought the show notes were calling me daddy for
- 29:19Speaker 5: a second, and I was like, I'm not sure if
- 29:21Speaker 5: I feel comfortable with that the show notes and I
- 29:22Speaker 5: aren't that comfortable. I don't know you show notes, uh,
- 29:29Speaker 5: And I mean I already talked about my dad a bit.
- 29:33Speaker 5: Do you just want to be my therapy session for
- 29:36Speaker 5: the week?
- 29:37Speaker 3: Why not? What?
- 29:39Speaker 4: The only reason I put that is because Bookie's always like,
- 29:43Speaker 4: you got questions you want to ask him? And I
- 29:46Speaker 4: just put the gift of kindergarten cop where it's like, who's.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Your daddy and what does he do? Who's your daddy
- 29:51Speaker 3: and what does he do? There?
- 29:54Speaker 2: You go?
- 29:55Speaker 4: And so that's that's the only reason that was there.
- 30:00Speaker 3: It's like, yeah, we got some questions. I've been I
- 30:02Speaker 3: don't know about you guys. I work retail, I don't
- 30:04Speaker 3: think anyone else here works retail, so like I have
- 30:08Speaker 3: been currently, Yeah, every job, yeah, well get to it.
- 30:14Speaker 3: But everything right now is super busy for me because
- 30:17Speaker 3: I do work retail, so it is everything is just
- 30:21Speaker 3: everything's a killer right now.
- 30:23Speaker 4: And yeah, I've worked all kinds of retail.
- 30:26Speaker 3: Yeah, have you have sold I sold yourself.
- 30:33Speaker 4: Technically, isn't capitalism always selling yourself?
- 30:37Speaker 3: Pretty much? You sold yourself to Equinox. Have they just
- 30:41Speaker 3: hired you yet?
- 30:42Speaker 1: No?
- 30:43Speaker 4: I worked at Walmart. Can't really sell yourself more than
- 30:48Speaker 4: that now, throwing trucks shes.
- 30:51Speaker 3: There you go, All right, guys trying What are you
- 30:57Speaker 3: playing right now? I assume you mean in Altered? In Altered,
- 31:03Speaker 3: I'm basically exclusively playing the deer. I feel like I
- 31:09Speaker 3: love the deer, So I've only the people at my
- 31:15Speaker 3: store for the most part. There's no real tournaments or
- 31:19Speaker 3: anything happening right now. We're in Not only are we
- 31:22Speaker 3: in a lull right now in the holiday season, but
- 31:24Speaker 3: we're kind of in a lull season in general after Worlds,
- 31:26Speaker 3: because we're still waiting for Said five and the return
- 31:29Speaker 3: of Tumults and the introduction of the new organized play
- 31:31Speaker 3: system and just more details on that, but we've kind
- 31:36Speaker 3: of all been trying to only play the six new
- 31:39Speaker 3: heroes and figured them out. I've played mainly Cowie and
- 31:46Speaker 3: the Deer, but the Deer most of all. I stole
- 31:50Speaker 3: Rinku's deck from an invitational that Cole did you host?
- 31:56Speaker 1: That one?
- 31:57Speaker 4: The one he won Ace with got Top Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 32:02Speaker 4: yeah yeah.
- 32:04Speaker 5: It was only set for heroes, so I just stole
- 32:10Speaker 5: that and have been trying to pilot it and sort
- 32:13Speaker 5: of figure it out. And I think the Deer is great.
- 32:18Speaker 5: I don't think he's necessarily the most meta viable, just
- 32:21Speaker 5: because the original eighteen heroes a lot of them are
- 32:24Speaker 5: very strong, but he's so much fun to play. I
- 32:30Speaker 5: love Nader so much.
- 32:33Speaker 4: Yeah, do you have any ideas on what you think
- 32:37Speaker 4: would make a dear more viable?
- 32:41Speaker 5: The main issue that I've had with Nader is a
- 32:49Speaker 5: lot of his synergy shut off in the arena because
- 32:53Speaker 5: there are no longer any additional regions. So Matt Maker's boon,
- 33:00Speaker 5: which gives you two boosts normally, but if there are
- 33:03Speaker 5: three single regions face up, it gives four boosts. Very
- 33:08Speaker 5: good card, but in the arena it gives you nothing.
- 33:16Speaker 5: I mean it gives you two boosts, but it's understand
- 33:18Speaker 5: for that and Lyre aerialist where Lyra alial list is
- 33:22Speaker 5: the same. So you really just can't win the arena
- 33:30Speaker 5: very well, so you either have to really win early on,
- 33:35Speaker 5: which kind of makes him a bit more agro than
- 33:37Speaker 5: I think he's necessarily intended to be. But I don't
- 33:41Speaker 5: know exactly what he needs because any anything that would
- 33:49Speaker 5: help with the arena feels like it would be antithetical
- 33:51Speaker 5: to his design.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Anyways, Yeah, it's kind.
- 33:55Speaker 4: Of really hard as well. I was casting the what
- 34:02Speaker 4: was it one of the recent tournaments. I can't remember
- 34:06Speaker 4: if it was with the Spaghetti Team or it was
- 34:09Speaker 4: The Weekly, but there was a Nider that was going
- 34:13Speaker 4: against a Rin and a wonderful way to shut down
- 34:21Speaker 4: Nader is by saying, I don't care if you mark
- 34:24Speaker 4: this mountain. It's forced now.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Yep.
- 34:28Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a very interesting matchup, just because you can
- 34:34Speaker 5: try and change the regions to screw them over, but
- 34:39Speaker 5: they have enough toys to just change your right back.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it is.
- 34:47Speaker 4: It is interesting, an interesting hero for sure, very cool
- 34:52Speaker 4: lawer wise, but lookie never lets us read the lore,
- 34:56Speaker 4: so we don't we don't know Nada game has.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Anyone.
- 35:03Speaker 4: I hate to say that it might have the best
- 35:06Speaker 4: law of ANYTCG ever, but.
- 35:10Speaker 3: It does for sure. I would agree with you on
- 35:13Speaker 3: that one. Now, Magic used to have some pretty good lore,
- 35:17Speaker 3: and now all they're worried about is other other Yeah,
- 35:22Speaker 3: Spongebarty pretty much.
- 35:24Speaker 5: Yeah, they don't care about their own I p. They
- 35:26Speaker 5: care more about integrating other ips into theirs. I used
- 35:29Speaker 5: to buy the books for.
- 35:32Speaker 3: Back with those flat packs came with the books.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I.
- 35:37Speaker 5: And I and I would read the books and I
- 35:41Speaker 5: loved the lore. And you know, now I don't know
- 35:46Speaker 5: what they're doing.
- 35:47Speaker 3: I don't know if anybody does. They're just like, hey,
- 35:51Speaker 3: you guys like shinies and everyone's like yeah, they're like
- 35:55Speaker 3: we're going to release new ones, and everybody just like,
- 35:58Speaker 3: here's a shut up and take my Yeah. I don't
- 36:01Speaker 3: understand Magic Soluras sometimes still like some of it's kind
- 36:04Speaker 3: of cool, but it's just like, man, nothing, nothing's better
- 36:08Speaker 3: than having your own sweet sick lore and then having
- 36:12Speaker 3: you know, aang next to it. You know, that's not
- 36:16Speaker 3: nothing against Last Airbender and all that jazz, But like,
- 36:21Speaker 3: I don't.
- 36:21Speaker 5: Know, Yes, it's kind of this year feels like it
- 36:25Speaker 5: was almost designed for me to start playing Magic. One
- 36:28Speaker 5: of my favorite video games series of all time is
- 36:30Speaker 5: Final Fantasy. My favorite TV show of all time is
- 36:34Speaker 5: The Last Airbender. But I don't care about them in Magic.
- 36:40Speaker 5: It's like, Okay, that's fine, but I would rather Magic
- 36:44Speaker 5: just do their own thing.
- 36:46Speaker 3: It's Magic.
- 36:49Speaker 5: The two the two games I play the most are
- 36:52Speaker 5: Altered and Flesh and Blood, two games that are trying
- 36:54Speaker 5: to create their own IP instead of building off someone else's.
- 36:59Speaker 5: We see a lot lot of games right now that
- 37:01Speaker 5: are just you know, propped up by their own IP.
- 37:07Speaker 5: For example, Riftbound could could be the worst game ever
- 37:12Speaker 5: and it would still succeed to a certain extent because
- 37:14Speaker 5: of the IP. I'm not saying it is I think
- 37:17Speaker 5: I think Riftbound is fine. It's not my favorite game,
- 37:19Speaker 5: but I still think it's fun.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Uh.
- 37:22Speaker 3: But because of the league IP it.
- 37:27Speaker 5: Is able to it would be able to survive much
- 37:30Speaker 5: longer than a game of the same mechanics if it
- 37:34Speaker 5: was the worst game ever that was based off of
- 37:36Speaker 5: no IP right and the same thing with like Lorcana.
- 37:42Speaker 5: I I have always been a big Disney fan. I
- 37:46Speaker 5: played Lorcana when it came out. I think the gameplay
- 37:50Speaker 5: was fine, but it was kind of uh, it wasn't
- 37:54Speaker 5: in it. It wasn't necessarily innovative or anything like that.
- 37:57Speaker 5: I think the main the best thing about it is
- 37:59Speaker 5: that in multiplayer everyone's playing the entire time, someone doesn't
- 38:03Speaker 5: die and then have to wait thirty five minutes until
- 38:05Speaker 5: the game is over. But other than that, I think
- 38:09Speaker 5: it's just adequate. But the IP is shouldering the burden
- 38:15Speaker 5: of the gameplay, which, you know, I get capitalism, we
- 38:23Speaker 5: need to make money, but I like I like a
- 38:27Speaker 5: game where they are designing something themselves and you can
- 38:30Speaker 5: tell that it would that whatever is being made was
- 38:34Speaker 5: made for this medium, made for this specific game, as
- 38:38Speaker 5: opposed to being torn from something else and tried to
- 38:41Speaker 5: shove into the correct hole to make it fit kind
- 38:46Speaker 5: of into this new game.
- 38:49Speaker 3: So what would you say? You said, you play a lot,
- 38:52Speaker 3: you've played a lot of CCGs and CCGs. Which one
- 38:57Speaker 3: was your favorite, living or dad of all time?
- 39:03Speaker 2: Hmmm?
- 39:05Speaker 1: Gameplay wise?
- 39:06Speaker 3: Right?
- 39:07Speaker 5: Gameplay wise, my favorite probably has to be Flesh and Blood.
- 39:13Speaker 5: I think it's incredibly finely tuned. There's a lot of
- 39:16Speaker 5: chance for player skill expression. There isn't as much chance
- 39:23Speaker 5: for you to low roll. I mean, we're still playing
- 39:26Speaker 5: trading card games, so there's still randomization in like where
- 39:30Speaker 5: your deck, like what cards you draw and what cards
- 39:33Speaker 5: your opponent draws. But it's nowhere near as bad as
- 39:36Speaker 5: something like Magic, where you can get maniflooded or manuscrewed.
- 39:43Speaker 5: But so I think it's my favorite gameplay wise, I don't,
- 39:48Speaker 5: and I play it a lot, but I'm not sure
- 39:50Speaker 5: it's if it's necessarily my favorite game of all time.
- 39:56Speaker 5: I really, I really do enjoy Altered It's Uh. It's
- 40:01Speaker 5: one of the reasons I started making content for it
- 40:05Speaker 5: is because I just really enjoyed the game, and I
- 40:10Speaker 5: kind of wanted to share that with other people. If
- 40:16Speaker 5: there was one game you could bring a dead card
- 40:19Speaker 5: game you could bring back? What card game would you
- 40:21Speaker 5: bring back?
- 40:22Speaker 3: Magi Nation? Oh my god, it.
- 40:29Speaker 5: What I heard?
- 40:30Speaker 3: I heard Dexter leave the house, bro, Come on, do
- 40:34Speaker 3: some research. Google is a thing. Just google Magi Nation.
- 40:39Speaker 4: We've talked about magination, yeah, but here.
- 40:45Speaker 1: But not in like a way that I would actually
- 40:48Speaker 1: know what it is. We've mentioned the name, yes.
- 40:52Speaker 3: Okay, so I don't know imagination is a lifestyle. No,
- 40:59Speaker 3: To be honest, I.
- 41:02Speaker 5: Didn't play much Magi Nation. It was one of the
- 41:05Speaker 5: games where I had two like starter decks and I
- 41:09Speaker 5: had a couple of booster bracks. I'd like used my
- 41:11Speaker 5: allowance to get it, and I would basically go to
- 41:16Speaker 5: school and try and force my friends to learn this
- 41:19Speaker 5: game and play with me because I was like, ooh,
- 41:22Speaker 5: this is interesting. But I never played it to the
- 41:24Speaker 5: same extent that I played Yu Gi Oh or Magic
- 41:26Speaker 5: or Pokemons because there wasn't the same community around, at
- 41:29Speaker 5: least that I knew of. But it's one of the many,
- 41:36Speaker 5: many TCGs that I tried during the TCG bubble, like
- 41:40Speaker 5: prior to the TCG bubble of everyone releasing TCGs, that
- 41:46Speaker 5: I actually remember. It sticks out my mind to this day.
- 41:50Speaker 5: And it might also be because you guys have mentioned
- 41:52Speaker 5: it a number of times on the podcast, and I
- 41:54Speaker 5: do try and listen to every episode, so I would
- 41:59Speaker 5: love to try it again, and I did hear it's
- 42:03Speaker 5: coming back, but I have no idea. I haven't followed
- 42:05Speaker 5: anything aside.
- 42:07Speaker 3: I haven't either. Very similar to you, I wasn't huge
- 42:11Speaker 3: in Imagine Nation, but I had a couple people at
- 42:15Speaker 3: the store because gen con believe it or not used
- 42:17Speaker 3: to be in Milwaukee and it debuted there and they
- 42:21Speaker 3: were giving a bunch of stuff out, and I just
- 42:22Speaker 3: had friends that, like we all had just maybe it
- 42:25Speaker 3: was just because we all had starter decks and it
- 42:28Speaker 3: was all very balanced because none of us really put
- 42:31Speaker 3: any money into it, right, So it was just like
- 42:35Speaker 3: all probably like super weirdly balanced, and it just was
- 42:41Speaker 3: always a blast to play. I didn't even know that
- 42:44Speaker 3: there was like a video game or TV series for it.
- 42:47Speaker 3: I knew there was a series, I didn't know there
- 42:49Speaker 3: was a video game. It was like a game Boy
- 42:52Speaker 3: Advanced Gamer. So okay, that very well could be see.
- 42:56Speaker 3: I should ask I should ask Felix that question too.
- 42:58Speaker 3: That'd be a good question for Felix. What game would
- 43:00Speaker 3: he bring back? I mean, I no offense to you three.
- 43:06Speaker 3: I was hoping Felix was going to be here. I
- 43:11Speaker 3: thank you. You're just me from now on right.
- 43:16Speaker 5: I But I was at Packed Plugged and I saw
- 43:19Speaker 5: Cole and Dexter, and I saw Felix at one point,
- 43:23Speaker 5: and we had met at gen Con this year. But
- 43:26Speaker 5: I'm not sure if he knew, Like I knew who
- 43:29Speaker 5: he was, but I'm not sure if he knew who
- 43:31Speaker 5: I was Because I'm not sure if I introduced myself
- 43:35Speaker 5: as a guy trying, uh, but I went. I saw
- 43:39Speaker 5: him working the Riftbound booth, but he was so busy
- 43:42Speaker 5: that I didn't get a chance to say him, whereas
- 43:45Speaker 5: like Cole and Dexter, I had no problem interrupting them.
- 43:49Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, Felix was super busy every time, even when
- 43:53Speaker 4: I would go bug him.
- 43:54Speaker 3: Well, you you guys weren't doing Riftbound right. You guys
- 43:57Speaker 3: are doing something completely You guys are doing Marvel something
- 43:59Speaker 3: rather right. Yeah.
- 44:01Speaker 4: And also we were all.
- 44:05Speaker 2: Next to us, do Lord of the Reeks.
- 44:08Speaker 3: You're like Lord of the Ranks.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Yep.
- 44:11Speaker 4: They they decided their rift Bound staff for gen Con
- 44:15Speaker 4: like super pretty early.
- 44:17Speaker 5: So there was and also it was like through like
- 44:22Speaker 5: it's been distributed through UVS or something like that, so
- 44:25Speaker 5: they were using people who've worked on.
- 44:28Speaker 1: The staff from UVS. And since Felix has worked with
- 44:31Speaker 1: UVS for a while, Yeah, he was a chew one man.
- 44:34Speaker 3: I got to get into all these things that you
- 44:36Speaker 3: guys do. I don't get to go to nearly enough conventions,
- 44:41Speaker 3: and you guys get to like go to all these
- 44:43Speaker 3: conventions and work them and have fun. I've never worked
- 44:47Speaker 3: at one. I've never worked at one either. I've just
- 44:50Speaker 3: gone and annoyed people while they're working.
- 44:55Speaker 2: That's my main.
- 44:59Speaker 3: Thing that I do a convention is distract people.
- 45:02Speaker 4: The fun usually comes after the convention and not actually
- 45:06Speaker 4: at the convention.
- 45:07Speaker 3: Oh yeah, because I have worked the convention. Right, Well,
- 45:12Speaker 3: you are you working the whole time. You don't get
- 45:14Speaker 3: to go like pulp around, talk to anybody, see anything,
- 45:17Speaker 3: doing it. I guess I don't know how it works.
- 45:20Speaker 4: Most of the time. Yeah, this most recent time was
- 45:23Speaker 4: the technically the least I've ever worked at the convention.
- 45:27Speaker 4: But a lot of the time you're working open to
- 45:29Speaker 4: clothes basically.
- 45:32Speaker 3: Okay, but you get like a couple hour breaks that
- 45:35Speaker 3: you can use for like lunch, dinner, or to run
- 45:38Speaker 3: the hall.
- 45:38Speaker 5: Right.
- 45:39Speaker 4: Uh no, not really just lunch break, but yeah, just
- 45:42Speaker 4: a one hour lunch break which goes very quickly. I
- 45:47Speaker 4: just know Cole you you took me to what was it, Gudnack, Yeah, goudnack, Yeah.
- 45:56Speaker 3: And then I saw you.
- 45:57Speaker 5: I walked over to you guys testing on flesh and blood.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:00Speaker 4: That was a Sunday, right, Yeah, Sunday was a really
- 46:06Speaker 4: short day. But yeah, it's usually I work a lot
- 46:10Speaker 4: more hours than I did for Marvel, but they're yeah, yeah, yeah, no,
- 46:17Speaker 4: they just didn't eat us for very many hours.
- 46:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:20Speaker 4: The setup was actually really nice because I thought they
- 46:24Speaker 4: were going to be running both events back to back,
- 46:26Speaker 4: but it was just sequential.
- 46:28Speaker 3: So the morning was working at them, right, because they
- 46:31Speaker 3: basically pay you to get there, pay you to get
- 46:33Speaker 3: home and your hotel and all that jazz.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Right if you're lucky.
- 46:37Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, so all your time is spent just working
- 46:43Speaker 3: for them.
- 46:45Speaker 2: Yep, and.
- 46:49Speaker 3: Huh.
- 46:51Speaker 4: It's interesting point is working and having a job, No,
- 46:56Speaker 4: that I.
- 46:57Speaker 3: Understand, But if it were like someone like, you know,
- 46:59Speaker 3: I don't know, just doing get off the norm, you know,
- 47:02Speaker 3: I mean, I guess if that's your job, then I understand, right,
- 47:06Speaker 3: Like that's that's what you do. But I know a
- 47:08Speaker 3: lot of out there do this as like a way
- 47:10Speaker 3: to get there. So and I've always wondered about I've
- 47:13Speaker 3: always had questions about it. I don't know much about it.
- 47:16Speaker 1: There's definitely a lot of different companies that you can
- 47:19Speaker 1: work for that do similar things, and I'm sure there
- 47:21Speaker 1: are other ones that give you a lot more free time.
- 47:23Speaker 1: So if there's people that like just want to do
- 47:26Speaker 1: it for a way to get there for cheap and
- 47:29Speaker 1: don't really care about I don't know, getting paid for it,
- 47:32Speaker 1: and they just want like time to spend at the convention.
- 47:35Speaker 1: They could probably find a way to do that.
- 47:38Speaker 4: There's people that just slack off more than me and dexters.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Yeah, there are those people.
- 47:42Speaker 3: So you guys are the hard chores.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Don't work.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Yeah, we actually do our jobs, suckers.
- 47:51Speaker 3: Suckers.
- 47:54Speaker 4: Yeah, we're in the crew that's usually helping tear down
- 47:56Speaker 4: and stuff too. And sometimes people will just disappear. Well yeah,
- 48:00Speaker 4: I mean if you get in with a company that
- 48:03Speaker 4: pays for travel and your hotel, then everything else is
- 48:06Speaker 4: really just a benefit. So people just go because it's
- 48:10Speaker 4: the only way they can go to a convention where
- 48:13Speaker 4: they go to make a bunch of money to buy
- 48:15Speaker 4: a bunch of board games and you know whatever. You
- 48:19Speaker 4: may want different strokes for different folks.
- 48:23Speaker 3: As they say, you got it, you got it all right?
- 48:27Speaker 3: What do we got here? Last question? If we're ready
- 48:31Speaker 3: for all of this, actually we got a little bit
- 48:33Speaker 3: to go. What did h is the last big question?
- 48:38Speaker 3: Last big question? What did HGA not ask you that
- 48:43Speaker 3: you wish you talked about?
- 48:49Speaker 5: I would say that I'll tell you something that they
- 48:54Speaker 5: wanted to ask me but forgot to during during the
- 49:00Speaker 5: during the interview, we had talked about it a little
- 49:03Speaker 5: bit pre show, and they want to ask me about
- 49:11Speaker 5: my uh why I got into content creation because we
- 49:16Speaker 5: had talked about it a bit, and I I have
- 49:25Speaker 5: two useless degrees in musical theater and acting for film.
- 49:31Speaker 5: And in my acting for film program, I had to
- 49:34Speaker 5: learn how to edit and shoot and you know, do lighting, sound,
- 49:40Speaker 5: all that stuff. And one of the main reasons I
- 49:44Speaker 5: got into content creation was because I wanted to try
- 49:47Speaker 5: and challenge myself with editing. So a lot of my
- 49:50Speaker 5: videos have some sort of challenge that I'm trying to
- 49:53Speaker 5: do to myself to practice editing normally. Hopefully those aren't
- 50:00Speaker 5: parents to the viewer, but it's uh. I always try
- 50:04Speaker 5: and try something new that will flex a different muscle
- 50:09Speaker 5: in editing when I do then and again, I love
- 50:14Speaker 5: the game, and I made a bunch of spreadsheets and
- 50:17Speaker 5: people like, oh, we like this information, why don't you
- 50:21Speaker 5: talk about it? So I decided to do that. But
- 50:24Speaker 5: that is something that we had talked about in the
- 50:26Speaker 5: pre interview for Hero's Guy Tis Gartha and they said, shit,
- 50:31Speaker 5: we forgot to ask.
- 50:32Speaker 4: It them slipping again?
- 50:36Speaker 3: Slipping again.
- 50:37Speaker 5: I mean it's Chili and Nick that are always slipping.
- 50:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yep with those not hard to get off topic?
- 50:44Speaker 3: Let me tell you I've done a couple of episodes.
- 50:47Speaker 3: It's not hard to get off topic quickly.
- 50:49Speaker 4: Well we we can't talk about getting off topic. We're
- 50:52Speaker 4: never really on topic.
- 50:53Speaker 3: But it's my aid, are you making fun of my adduh?
- 50:59Speaker 4: Well no, because I also am dia against all of us,
- 51:03Speaker 4: so I mean making fun of me? Also, what fun
- 51:08Speaker 4: is it to just be you knowboard?
- 51:13Speaker 3: And yeah, yeah, I don't know. I'm not sure. What
- 51:19Speaker 3: is one thing you wish people knew about you? Oh?
- 51:29Speaker 5: Let's see, uh, the one thing I wish people knew
- 51:35Speaker 5: about me?
- 51:37Speaker 2: Uh.
- 51:39Speaker 5: When I was a kid, I was convinced I was
- 51:42Speaker 5: part fish because I like to swim in the ocean
- 51:47Speaker 5: more than anyone else in my family, and then yelled
- 51:50Speaker 5: at my family for eating fish. And to this day,
- 51:54Speaker 5: I still don't like the taste of fish. I think
- 51:56Speaker 5: a lot of that has to do with a psychological
- 52:00Speaker 5: barrier I put on myself when I was convinced I
- 52:02Speaker 5: was part fish.
- 52:07Speaker 1: So that's I love swimming in the ocean too, swimming
- 52:10Speaker 1: in the ocean's grade.
- 52:11Speaker 2: But I never thought I was a fish.
- 52:13Speaker 5: Okay, well, obviously there's a lot of things that as
- 52:17Speaker 5: a kid. I I My sister's four and a half
- 52:21Speaker 5: years older than me. So when I was one, she
- 52:26Speaker 5: was five or six, you know, depending on the time
- 52:28Speaker 5: of year. And when I was five, she was nine
- 52:31Speaker 5: or ten. And I thought, oh, she used to be
- 52:33Speaker 5: five times older than me. Now she's only twice as
- 52:36Speaker 5: old as me. Someday I'm going to become the older sibling. Yeah,
- 52:40Speaker 5: because the dapple get shorter and short, and then I
- 52:43Speaker 5: will become older. There's a lot of things that I
- 52:45Speaker 5: just thought of and I was like, yeah, that sounds
- 52:49Speaker 5: about right, And I didn't.
- 52:50Speaker 3: Think a lot of thought. I think a lot of
- 52:53Speaker 3: younger siblings have that same thing, like one day I
- 52:55Speaker 3: want to be older, and then you just kind of
- 52:58Speaker 3: like as the I'm the oldest for siblings. And I
- 53:03Speaker 3: know for a fact my younger brother one time was like,
- 53:06Speaker 3: one day I'm gonna be the older sibling. And he
- 53:09Speaker 3: was in middle school and I was in high school,
- 53:11Speaker 3: and I'm like, that's not how time works.
- 53:15Speaker 2: But it's the same thing.
- 53:16Speaker 5: I saw my family on the beach. When I went
- 53:19Speaker 5: to be in the ocean, I ignored everyone else in
- 53:21Speaker 5: the ocean that was out there as well, and I
- 53:23Speaker 5: was like, I'm special and I must be part fish.
- 53:26Speaker 3: It's the only thing that made sense to me.
- 53:28Speaker 2: It's the only option.
- 53:30Speaker 5: I was like, I will, I will research this note further.
- 53:33Speaker 5: I have found I've made my hypothesis, and I assume
- 53:36Speaker 5: it's true.
- 53:38Speaker 4: I I you know, who's to say that you aren't
- 53:42Speaker 4: part fish?
- 53:44Speaker 3: Don't you start? I swear if the movie Luca came
- 53:48Speaker 3: out when I was a kid, I would have been like,
- 53:53Speaker 3: this is my life story, this is me, this is Luca.
- 54:00Speaker 4: If you you just heard that saying, uh, he loves
- 54:05Speaker 4: the water so much, he's part fish or whatever that
- 54:08Speaker 4: people used to say, and you were.
- 54:10Speaker 2: Just like, I am, I am, that's right?
- 54:15Speaker 3: Who told you?
- 54:15Speaker 4: I do?
- 54:16Speaker 3: See? We have a question? Uh in the chat?
- 54:22Speaker 2: Am I supposed to acknowledge that?
- 54:24Speaker 3: Yeah, chaos, that's fine.
- 54:29Speaker 2: What is one change you would make to each faction?
- 54:32Speaker 3: I was going to ask a question similar to this,
- 54:36Speaker 3: all right, what was your question? Mine was what is
- 54:39Speaker 3: your biggest criticism of Equinox to the state, Oh, different question,
- 54:48Speaker 3: fair I similar ish.
- 54:52Speaker 5: I'll say, uh, I think that Equinox has designed a
- 54:59Speaker 5: game that with each set has become better and better.
- 55:04Speaker 5: But the main thing that they really mess up is
- 55:07Speaker 5: communication with their community, and they rely too They relied
- 55:11Speaker 5: too much on their community to pick up the slack
- 55:14Speaker 5: for them. The tournaments run by such teams as AQZ
- 55:23Speaker 5: and a Wall are what have propped up the game
- 55:29Speaker 5: and given it the life that it has because it
- 55:32Speaker 5: has kept the community engaged competitively when Equinox was not
- 55:40Speaker 5: giving us the same opportunities. Until you know, we start
- 55:44Speaker 5: having the qualifiers and worlds. We had the tumults, but
- 55:46Speaker 5: that's you know, that's a local metagame, not a more
- 55:49Speaker 5: like global one. And I think they have a great
- 55:54Speaker 5: community to rely on, but I think they have at
- 55:59Speaker 5: times become complacent with that and slacked on some of
- 56:03Speaker 5: the work that they should be doing themselves.
- 56:07Speaker 1: You say that about Equinox, you should see Ghost Galaxy.
- 56:11Speaker 1: I think a great job.
- 56:13Speaker 5: I will say, I do not think that Equinox is
- 56:18Speaker 5: the worst defender in TCGs for this or anything like that.
- 56:21Speaker 1: I think I think this is a very common occurrence
- 56:24Speaker 1: for many many producers of TCGs. Communication is a big issue,
- 56:29Speaker 1: and yeah, something needs to be done, but.
- 56:32Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 56:33Speaker 5: Yeah, like, you know, they really screwed up with that
- 56:38Speaker 5: initial message. I understand what they were trying to go
- 56:41Speaker 5: for about the you know call what have you called it?
- 56:45Speaker 5: Bloody Monday.
- 56:46Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what people started calling it.
- 56:48Speaker 5: Yeah, that that message. I understand what they were trying
- 56:52Speaker 5: to go for it with.
- 56:53Speaker 1: It, but the way that it came out it was
- 56:56Speaker 1: far too alarmist.
- 56:57Speaker 5: It really it really did not hit what they were
- 57:00Speaker 5: going for, and it scared more people away than yeah, uh,
- 57:04Speaker 5: than it motivated them. But again I understand that, like
- 57:08Speaker 5: that was not their intention. They but they really There's
- 57:13Speaker 5: been other times where they've missed the mark on communication.
- 57:16Speaker 5: I don't think any want any moment has been as
- 57:19Speaker 5: bad as that personally, but I do think it's their
- 57:23Speaker 5: weakest point. I think they have a team that has
- 57:26Speaker 5: amazing designers on it. They're a small team comparatively. I
- 57:32Speaker 5: know there's smaller teams out there, but there's also much
- 57:35Speaker 5: bigger teams out there.
- 57:37Speaker 2: Uh.
- 57:38Speaker 5: And I think the communicate, the communications people on their
- 57:42Speaker 5: team are overworked a lot, I feel, and uh, they
- 57:51Speaker 5: and stuff slips through the cracks. That's them.
- 57:57Speaker 4: They should hire a community manager.
- 58:01Speaker 3: Yeah, are you trying to get I wonder what if we.
- 58:05Speaker 4: Were it's not the community manager?
- 58:08Speaker 3: Oh true? If if if we're a North America community manager,
- 58:13Speaker 3: what would his name be?
- 58:17Speaker 2: Cole Bobby?
- 58:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I bet you have rhymes with that Felix.
- 58:22Speaker 4: Felix.
- 58:28Speaker 5: Cole is someone who has been you know, he's he's
- 58:34Speaker 5: the lot of many jokes he uh and the community
- 58:40Speaker 5: likes to make fun of him a lot. But I
- 58:42Speaker 5: do think it's also.
- 58:43Speaker 3: Important that we acknowledge the amount of effort and care.
- 58:47Speaker 2: He's put into the community.
- 58:48Speaker 5: So as much as we like to joke around with
- 58:50Speaker 5: Cole Robbie, I'm going to take a serious moment here
- 58:53Speaker 5: and say Cole, thank you for all you've done for
- 58:55Speaker 5: the Ultra community. It has been you've put more of
- 58:59Speaker 5: yourself into the community then you might have gotten out
- 59:03Speaker 5: of it, which I think we should thank you for.
- 59:08Speaker 4: Well, thank you, thanks, I appreciate it. Now I have
- 59:15Speaker 4: the power to go piss off one more person in
- 59:18Speaker 4: Discord in the next seven days. So Loki is the
- 59:25Speaker 4: community builder. But I did not renew Moon's contract. He
- 59:32Speaker 4: has had to kind of do both. His His job
- 59:38Speaker 4: is or was supposed to be more like things like
- 59:42Speaker 4: the hive and convention work and things like that, and
- 59:47Speaker 4: a community manager just interfaces with the community a lot
- 59:52Speaker 4: more and was running like the social media and stuff,
- 59:56Speaker 4: you know, So they technically do not have a person
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: that does that anymore. So like sometimes Talia will have
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: to hop on and like do twee and things like that.
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: Sometimes it's low key, so it just depends.
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: And to be fair, Josh Josh Massey was uh was
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: not a community manager. He was in charge of op
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: now another that translated into we also need you to
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: tweet out some things. That's very possible. But his official
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: title was not community manager, was head of organized play.
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: But that's a story for another time. All right, back
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: to this, all right, so what would you what is
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: one change you would make for each faction? I It's oh,
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: that's hard.
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: Axiom has always had a dual identity issue where they
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: are both focused around reserve and landmarks and never sell
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: the two meat there. Try and bridging that gap with
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: East three, but it still feels like there's kind of
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: two factions that were with an Axiom. Bravos Bravos is
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: the new ortis, I'll say it Ortis had everything to
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: begin with, and ever since Bravos has gotten stronger and stronger,
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: and now it has so much is so many good
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: cards in it. I wouldn't change necessarily anything about Bravos,
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: except I mean, you could change the hunger. I know
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: people have been calling for that. I would rather raise
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: other factions power level to that.
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: Lyra.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: I think Lyra.
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: I love Lyras so much, although I love it for
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: different reasons than you, Wookie. I do not like dice
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: rolling mechanics, which I know you do well. I'm again
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: that's when you if you made a faction that says
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: roll dice, and I'm like, yes, I love Lyra for
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: everything but rolling dice. I love every other aspect of Lyra,
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: which is weird because I don't typically play the dice
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: rolling hero. I typically I do, and I typically play
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: Fenn in what I normally play. But I love Fenn. Fenn.
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: Fenn was my one was my one true love. Now
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: I'm trying to deer, but Fenn will always have such
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: a place in my heart. The thing it's weird is
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: mere to me when I think of like what faction
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: I gell most it's ismir, But I play so much
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: more Lyra than I do Ismir. Like I'm Ismir in
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: the main discord, but I place. I barely play Ismir.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: Same I.
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: Play Ismir and Lyra. I play all the cars, I
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: play Magical training, off you Go.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: I just play.
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: Removal in Lyrah. But yeah, Muna, I think they're on
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: the right track. I'm glad that they're giving them more
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: removal and sabotage. I think that's been hurting the faction.
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: I'm so excited for the new hero.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: Yes, I I think that's so.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: I think the design is so cool. The main problem
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: I have with the new hero is that it's made
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: me feel less inclined to build Cowerie. Yeah, because I
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: feel like there's a lot of times where calorie decks
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: that I might build might just be better as the
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: new hero y.
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: Ortis.
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: I'm glad that they're searching for new identities outside of
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: tokens and just generic good stuff. Sigasmar will always be
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: powerful though, because Ortis has access to good cards, and
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: Sigismar is just land white bread toast that can you know,
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: fit any type of deck that you're trying to make.
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: And Ismir I would like what I really want is
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: I want a mechanic that.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: Similar to.
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: That says if I am a spells that says if
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: I am fleeting, you get some bonus. So that way,
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: if you play off you go for two, you know
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: you get the value. But maybe off you go for
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: four from reserve it has fleeting, Uh it gets it
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: targets four or less instead.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: I think that would be a cool mechanic, but that's
- 1:05:13Speaker 5: not necessarily an identity shift in.
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: Ismir.
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: I think the factions are very well crafted. I would
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: just like to see expanding of archetypes. So I have
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: trouble answering the question. I'm gone on a lot and
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: I don't think I've gone anywhere with it.
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: Someone will, someone will, you know, pick it apart and get.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: Bird tribal juicy stuff out of day. So smart bird tribal.
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: I would love to see, like more more tribal stuff.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: Uh, I really? I made two.
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: Artists tribal decks when Whispers of the Maids came out,
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: one for Rock and one for Fen, both revolving around
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: the stage. I don't think either of them were that great,
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: but they were fun. Yep, alrighty, what else you got
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: in there?
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: Cole really just to wrap up the conversation and kind
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: of prepare us for most likely January. Is talking a
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: little bit about the next set Seeds. You've made the
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: sheet already. I think you made it when like the
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: very first thing was even referenced, right.
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean technically I had the template ready before
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: any Seeds of Unity stuff was announced, and then I
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: had Set five reveals and then one. As soon as
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: things started coming out, I just started filling in. But
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: I already have a spreadsheet ready for Set six. Nice,
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: So so you know, here's hoping we uh get to
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: see some exciting stuff from that. But Set five is
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: the thing that's coming up.
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: Yeah, so you have the sheet, I've made the Bengo board.
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: I need to make my own though, I need to
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: fill it out.
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: If you think it's going to be weird this set, Yeah,
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: we have. We have about forty of the cards already
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: shown to us.
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: Oh is that the percentage we've already seen?
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: We we've had forty nine cards revealed and we have
- 1:07:41Speaker 5: fifty nine more to go.
- 1:07:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I guess I technically did help reveal
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: a couple of them. So I'm part I'm part of
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: the problem.
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: I I mean, I think for seats worlds, there have
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: no not been any content I didn't correc I couldn't
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: remember if it was this sart our last sight we
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: did our reveal for no I finally cracked that top
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: top forty three. Uh you know, content creators were altered.
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: You see, I'll be honest.
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: That's the real reason I make the spreadsheet is I've
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: slowly snuck my way into being kind of synonymous with
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: spoiler season, and now they have to give me.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: A spoiler card.
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: So I.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: Snuck my way in. Yeah, we got one last time.
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: We'll see if we get one again.
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: Hopefully not, but hopefully not. I'm taking the reins this time.
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: I'm doing one because I didn't do one last sex
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: because I got one for the podcast.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: But you got one for like the other two sets.
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: Just one.
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: I've only had one reveal, only one reveal.
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: I thought you had two.
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: Yeah, and it got ruined. But that's a.
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: There was a unique because the Uniques, which wasn't a
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: very interesting moment in reveal season. I will say, as
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: someone trying to collect data for the spreadsheet, it was
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: very hectic and my card was technically spoiled. Two hours
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: before uh my video was supposed to go live for
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: that set, Cole, you had to sort of shift your
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: reveal for like a week or something, didn't you.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: I was at.
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I was at Packs yeast when it, technically I
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: think got revealed because we that announcement happened while we
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: were at Packs and all of this were like what
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: the And then Yeah, I had to change up everything
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: and do something a lot quicker than I would have wanted.
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: I will say so big, it's gonna be weird because
- 1:10:03Speaker 5: we already have so much information, so it's kind of
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: hard to make really kooky.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: Bingo guesses.
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: But I do think it was correct of them to
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: show a good amount of the set because of the
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: game found. If they are asking people to pledge their money,
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: we have three out of the six Exalted cards. I
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: think we might I think it would have been good
- 1:10:31Speaker 5: if they showed all six. I understand that they want
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: to save more exciting stuff for the for when the
- 1:10:40Speaker 5: spoiler season happens in.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: January, but.
- 1:10:45Speaker 5: If you're asking someone to pledge their money to a set,
- 1:10:50Speaker 5: I think it's good that people. I think people should
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: know what they are pledging for and what they are
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: hoping to get out of this set.
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I think honestly that there would have been no
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: issue revealing all of the Exalted because there's going to
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: be a lot of excitement trying to just pull them
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: and pull like the different yep, all right styles of them. Yeah,
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: if I could, if I could go back in time
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: and you know know what I know now or think
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: about it. When we revealed the Squid Guy at Worlds,
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: I've been like, we should just reveal more Exalted instead,
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: but I don't. I don't remember if the timing even
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: lined up.
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: Well.
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: Yeah, again, they have three left, so I really think
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: they just want to I would imagine those will be
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: the first three cards that Equinox themselves revealed during the
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: reveal season because they want.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: To get it kicked off with some momentum.
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11:53Speaker 5: I don't have any information about that, but that would
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: be my speculation.
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: We just know that reveals these than is in January,
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: and that's about as much as we know. But even
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: though we know forty percent of the cards and some
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: other things, what, what are you really looking to see
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: next set that hasn't been revealed?
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: Oh well, it's kind of been revealed. The the alternate
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: arts for the heroes. We have art, we have like
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: a product art that shows a different style of Nadir
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: and Moyo, and so it's like those are most likely
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: going to be the alternate arts. It would be weird
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: if they weren't the what are they called envoy arts.
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: Something like that.
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: But we have not seen anything for Trun and Benny,
- 1:12:57Speaker 5: I believe, and that would be great to see. And
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: then I would like to see I think I'd really
- 1:13:12Speaker 5: like to see.
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: Just cards that.
- 1:13:20Speaker 5: Were I really want cards for a deer. And we
- 1:13:24Speaker 5: have the contact mechanic, which will be interesting. Maybe I'll
- 1:13:28Speaker 5: finally give Western Wins some reason to be played. But
- 1:13:34Speaker 5: contact and the deer seems to be two different mechanics
- 1:13:36Speaker 5: to me right now. So I'm wondering if we will
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: see more instances of where we can give the deer
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: markers or manipulate region markers.
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: Yeah, you would think it's you know, a shoe in
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: to have a couple more cards to move markers or something.
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but they seem to be.
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: It seems like what they've shown us so far, and
- 1:13:57Speaker 5: again it's only about forty percent, is more focused on
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: you moving expeditions so that you place your markers down
- 1:14:07Speaker 5: and then you constantly try to move back into them
- 1:14:09Speaker 5: when it benefits you, as opposed to recreating markers, which
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: might be the design that they are being to go for.
- 1:14:17Speaker 5: You know, having too many markers might not be healthy
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: for the hero design. So maybe this is a happy compromise,
- 1:14:24Speaker 5: but we'll see.
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: Yeah, it gives me an idea I've I've always kind
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: of adamantly been against like factionless or you know, no
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: colored cards, whatever you want to call them. But it
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: would actually be super cool to have a Nadeer style
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: ability or a card lyra that just negates all regions
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: of you know, a certain area, so it's just pure
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: stats basically, like.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: Oh interesting whatever.
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: Whoever has one highest stat would win that. I mean,
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: they'd worried it much better than I just did. But
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: that could be. That could be something kind of cool.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the problem is I think that'd be
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: worse for Nader.
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, just because like you know, you look at
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: forest nymph, which is three zero zero. You look at
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: any of the nymphs, they are overstated in their region
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: and their region alone. But if you were to but
- 1:15:29Speaker 5: in total stats, they're massively understand which is why he
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: struggles so much in the arena in tiebreakers, because not
- 1:15:37Speaker 5: only are your stats all over the place, but you're
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: kind of below rate overall. Cards from older sets like
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: Hathor and Snowball Commando have a bit more even stats
- 1:15:52Speaker 5: across the board, but they but the Nader specific cards
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: that were or at least the UH support package for
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: in a Deer from Skybound Odyssey technically has lower stats overall.
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: I feel like if you were to even everything out.
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: My my little wacky but I got what what you're saying. Good,
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: good points indeed, But.
- 1:16:31Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, good, someone has to because I have no
- 1:16:33Speaker 5: idea what I'm saying.
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: You're just you're throwing throwing terrain markers. Hey, but we're
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: getting up.
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: Here on tonight. Make sure you go alter.
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: There is one question though, is that from that this week?
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: Oh yeah, there is one question. Okay, we'll try to
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: answer it as quickly as a question from the Patreon
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: again call needs your dollars. Go give Cola buck.
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: I do I give Cola dollar every single month? You too,
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: can ask us a question on Patreon if you could
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: design an altered card, what would it be? From gav Kenny,
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: we'll let the guest go first.
- 1:17:22Speaker 5: I feel like this is a trap because Gave Kenny
- 1:17:24Speaker 5: is my nemesis. Oh yeah, we are artist enemies. We
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: both draw so well that we are only matched by
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: each other's prowess. I would say, if I could design
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: an altered card, what would it be. I have to
- 1:17:45Speaker 5: like designed a couple altered cards in my head. What
- 1:17:47Speaker 5: I really want is I want a hero that their
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: main mechanic is destroying their own manna and they get
- 1:18:00Speaker 5: some benefit from it. So it's like a phoenix or something,
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: and every time you destroy your own manna through like
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: mana eruption or similar effects, you get an ash counter,
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: and then at five ash counters or something, you get
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: to take a character from your discard and played for
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: free or something. That sounds like it would have major
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: ways to be busted and would have to be balanced around.
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: That's so cool, that's so creative.
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: I just like the idea of.
- 1:18:38Speaker 5: You are keeping yourself low on mana and limiting your place,
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: but you get some big payoff for it. And I
- 1:18:49Speaker 5: think that would kind of work with Bravos's theme, or
- 1:18:53Speaker 5: at least what they're like original theme was of sort
- 1:18:55Speaker 5: of going fast.
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I dig it. Anyone else want to go first? Second?
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: I mean, well my kind of be I don't know
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: if it would be a card or if it would
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: be a series of cards. I've always been a huge
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: fan of the tribal. Right, we already talked about it
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: earlier on so number one bird Tribal. I need a
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: bird hero, right, what about Yeah? Yeah, that's that's my
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: first choice. But I would like a set of heroes
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: that rewards Okay, hear me out. I know nothing good
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: comes from this ever, right are we ready? Because it
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: would almost be and maybe this works an Altered and
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: it might not too. I am very good at making
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: busted things don't end up being very good.
- 1:20:02Speaker 4: I e.
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: See see the Alliance format in Altered, which is completely
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: and utterly busted and shouldn't exist. But I made it
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: and now it's a thing. So but I would like
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: to see like a series of heroes that rewards a
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: style like you're only allowed to have cards and this
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: is an example. Don't take this two to heart, but
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: you're only allowed to play Man of Value cards two
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: or less, Like it restricts your deck construction, but rewards
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: you in some faction for it or some fashion for it.
- 1:20:48Speaker 5: I actually think that that'd be really cool, especially in
- 1:20:50Speaker 5: a game where deck building is so unique. I guess
- 1:20:55Speaker 5: pun intended as altered, where you already have the knobs
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: of common, rare and unique and now exalted of what
- 1:21:08Speaker 5: you're putting into your deck. The something that forces you
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: to think about deck building in a new way on
- 1:21:18Speaker 5: top of that, I think would be really interesting. Although
- 1:21:22Speaker 5: it is normally a mechanic that fucks over everything.
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying is I'm not a very designer.
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: I just have ideas. I'm the I'm the ideas person.
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: The true professionals should take over the reins from here
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: on out, because like in Magic, we all know how
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: how fucked Companion was. Yeah, but something in that nature
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: that doesn't buy And I don't know if there's a
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: way you could balance it to make it not busted.
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: But because like some of the some of the negatives
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: are just going to be super hard to deal with
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: and there just might be never anything. But like you know, hey,
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: you're only allowed to play with plants, no cards in
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: your deck. Besides, you know, action cards can be plants
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: or you know whatever, Like your whole your whole identity
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: needs to be plants and then you can build from there.
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: But you do get some sort of benefit from it. Again,
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: what that benefit is, I don't know, but you know
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: makes you think a little bit outside the box.
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I actually have a I have a moona deck
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: made that is everything is to mana or less? Is
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: it two mana or less? Or is every single thing
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: to mana? Let me check. I think it's pretty I'm
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: pretty sure it's called like, I.
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: Think there's enough two mana cards in Muna to do that.
- 1:22:51Speaker 4: I think it's Yeah, two is the best number. Yeah,
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: it's two or less.
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: So okay, Dexter.
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: Would be the one to know.
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: It sounds like a extra deck right there.
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: There are cards that cost more than two mana in
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: this game that she wouldn't know about them.
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: I've already designed a couple, so I'll just read off
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: to that I've made. And the first one is a
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: concept that I've kind of wanted for a long time,
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: which is around like plants actually growing. The closest and
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: still only we have really is hydra caena, but it's
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: called the beanstalk. And both of these I'll just say
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: they're rare, so they are a little stronger because they're rare,
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: but it is a character plant spirit and it has
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: from anywhere I gain anchored, and then it says when
- 1:23:54Speaker 4: I gain one boost, I gain two instead, and I'm
- 1:24:00Speaker 4: sure knee jerk reactions for most people are like that
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: is so busted, But when you really think about it,
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: boosts in like today's meta are sometimes the downside. It
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: means that you're making the card target for one more
- 1:24:23Speaker 4: type of removal, So I don't I don't think it
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: would be too absolutely busted. But with how altered design
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: works now, I think they would maybe put a cap
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: on it, like you've saw with Bessie and other cards
- 1:24:38Speaker 4: like that. But I think those cards are under strength.
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: I think they're too handicapped, so maybe there's some in
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: between the other. I think this one has potential to
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: be busted. But it's you're agumo. I think that's how
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: you say it. It's a animal spirit and it just
- 1:25:05Speaker 4: has animals in my expedition have eternal.
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: Wow, is it an animal itself?
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: It is.
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: Good.
- 1:25:18Speaker 5: That seems like it might be too much if you
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: had to give it.
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: Anchored over and over again. I think that that could
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: be good, but giving itself eternal as well, as everything else.
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: Seems pretty busted.
- 1:25:36Speaker 4: Well, it's a it's a spider god, so you know
- 1:25:38Speaker 4: it's got to be busted. Can I pace these? I
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: think I can.
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: Also cold real quick, I have a problem with your
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: deck list. What Beauty Sleep costs three from reserve?
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: Oh all right, I got to get rid of Beauty
- 1:25:50Speaker 4: Sleep yep, or you can't.
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: You just can't play it from reserve.
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: Oh well, whoever plays it from reserve. Let's be honest,
- 1:25:58Speaker 4: you never know. But yeah, and then the uh, your
- 1:26:04Speaker 4: Gumo is four from hand three from reserve three three
- 1:26:08Speaker 4: three and being Stuck is three from hand for from
- 1:26:11Speaker 4: reserve one one one.
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: Here's a fun question for everybody. This for everybody. Everybody
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: feel free to try out. Because I see your You
- 1:26:21Speaker 3: actually made cards, like made made cards, So that's that's cool. Yep.
- 1:26:26Speaker 4: And I did not use ai R. It's not that
- 1:26:29Speaker 4: hard to do. People, listen, col And I'm actually for once,
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: for once, I'm actually not talking about Wookie.
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: So you just hit it.
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: You might have hit astray because you know, if you
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: feel guilty, then that's on you, but it was not
- 1:26:45Speaker 4: in reference to you.
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: Guilty is not in there. I'm just tired of hearing
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: about it either way, Is anybody doing altereds for all
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: for altered coup There's a couple of people out there
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: doing them. Yeah, okay, I mean I would say the
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: main one is, uh the Token Lady Porifer who makes
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: token altarts. I want to know somebody to alter art
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: my Magpie penguins. Yeah, there's a couple of peoples.
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a couple of people who have done three
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: D Like they've made the card three D.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: Like the cutout cards. Yeah, you like stack them on
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: top of each other.
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: Uh No, I don't think they stack multiple cards. They
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: just cut out the pieces and like make it three
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: D layered it yeaheah.
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: You you layer, so you have like ten or so
- 1:27:38Speaker 3: of them and you put like a little like a
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: piece of foam or whatever in the middle, and it
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: kind of like starts to layer and the cards get
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: stacked and it looks then three D.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: Maybe maybe they just magic did this forever in a day. Yeah,
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: they cut it. They cut out bits and some look
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: like they're closer to you, so it looks like they're far.
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: It just makes the card look through.
- 1:28:00Speaker 4: Yeah, yep, yep. There's a couple of people I don't
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: think there's anyone that does alters like that consistently, Like.
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: Magic people all the time, like in their Commander decks
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: will have like sweet altereds right like they've said that
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: they've altered the card somehow, some way, you know, that's
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: theay somebody's actually painted on the thing or whatever the
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: case may be. It's something I wish for tokens. Yeah,
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: it's something I wish I could do in key Forge,
- 1:28:32Speaker 3: but just kind of isn't allowed, so nobody does it,
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: So I wonder if Altered was doing it. I think
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: like they're.
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: Uh official stance is that you are supposed to use
- 1:28:51Speaker 5: like the cards that come in the packs. But you know,
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: I do think one of the great things about this
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: game is the art, and I like the access that
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: we get to Altars, you know from the Adventure Pass
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: and promo packs. But it would also be cool for
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: the community members to express their own creativity, not that.
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: We don't already. But anyways, moving on to events, Alter Tastes.
- 1:29:21Speaker 5: Dextra didn't get to say a card don't.
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: Have a good idea.
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: I guess.
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: He did hear the idea of hypothermia and having double
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: sided effects where you have to pick an opponent's character
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: and your own character, so like destroying both giving status
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: effects both. More of those would be cool.
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: Nice. Hypothermia is a great card. I think it's very cool.
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: If if they put one in Mona, it would be anchor,
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: and I could see like if you gave me a
- 1:29:56Speaker 4: spell that cost the same as hypothermia and it is
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: both character both you know what I'm saying. Anchor, I
- 1:30:04Speaker 4: think it could. I think it could be very interesting
- 1:30:06Speaker 4: because I could play it, like if I go first,
- 1:30:09Speaker 4: I play let's say, you know who, what the hell?
- 1:30:15Speaker 4: Why can't I think of cards a bumble beat. I
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: play a bumble beat and then they play like a
- 1:30:20Speaker 4: tiny gin and get a boost on it. I could
- 1:30:23Speaker 4: cast that and they be like, you're not getting that, man,
- 1:30:26Speaker 4: So that.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: Could yelp you forcing the anchor something that they don't
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: want to.
- 1:30:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:30:32Speaker 5: It's a bit like a airw emissary of the wind.
- 1:30:35Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, but you know, would have more versatility.
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: For sure.
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: All Right, finally, the events for Rookie all right, events
- 1:30:46Speaker 4: altered aces on Mondays at twelve thirty.
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: Is that Central time? Yes? Central? I've never seen CTS
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: Central time? All right, now, ace every Tuesday night at
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: six thirty pm Central time. I'd be sweet if you
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: maybe moved that to like, I don't know, I guess whatever,
- 1:31:07Speaker 3: eight thirty.
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: Oh, moved it to eight thirty.
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I know all you all you are a bunch
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: of old men who like are like I like to
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: eat pudding at four thirty.
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: Yep, I do.
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: Some of us don't get home until eight o'clock. So
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: and when do you eat your pudding? Not normally at
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: about four thirty, So you're the same as us. I'm
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: normally still at work at at six thirty. I still
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: got it. I still got an hour and a half
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: to go at six thirty.
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: But I can play at work.
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: Yeah, something sellsman, that's frowned upon, But you know, I'll
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: give it a shot next week. Altered Corner dot com
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: has the online events now, so you can see that
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: over there. What are there? Funny improvements are you making
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: over there? Uh?
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: You guys should open up the website and go look
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: at the events tab and live reacts.
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: Whoa crazy?
- 1:32:09Speaker 4: The other thing I did was I added felix officially
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: to the to the homepage.
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: Oh yeah, the change I don't think I've made back
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: to my old picture.
- 1:32:22Speaker 4: Uh, the one of you like twenty years ago.
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: It wasn't twenty years ago.
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: You can have whatever picture you want. The person that
- 1:32:30Speaker 4: was upset about that isn't here anymore.
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: I know, and he ain't. We've already have found out
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: he ain't coming back. So that guy just saying so Yeah.
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: Texas events and also online events, you can find them.
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: The event you need to know about is the Non
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: Unique Challenge, because I believe that is the only way
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: to truly play altered and.
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: That is my least favorite way, and I am a hater.
- 1:32:58Speaker 4: My favorite would be Singleton.
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: Oh, Singleton's a good one, though I do like Singleton too.
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: I feel if you're going to add uniques back in,
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: Singleton is the way to go. I feel like both
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: are equally players skill testing.
- 1:33:15Speaker 4: I'm a n you see, hater. I don't hate any
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: of the organizers, but I do not care for the format.
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: You see that. I'm the opposite.
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: I hate all the organizers but love the format.
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: Yeah, well that is a fair.
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: It's where I came on this podcast to start drama
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: creating in the community.
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: It's okay, none of them listen.
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: It's one or the other. Nobody listens to this show.
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: They're they're all busy listening into that other podcast.
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: What which one's the one Hero's Guide as Gartha.
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: Yes, no, I try every every day. They are just
- 1:33:53Speaker 4: too weak.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: They won't they won't bite.
- 1:33:57Speaker 4: They just don't put up a good fight.
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: Oh, well, who should we start ship with? Blue? No? No, no,
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: heart can't take it.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: I was working with Blue today. Blue is doing good.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: He was. He was judging the main stream tables at
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: Riftbound all day yesterday and today.
- 1:34:18Speaker 4: Yeah, he was giving us updates.
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: So, well, you told me who to start ship with,
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: because I'm really good at starting ship. Okay, Wookie, we
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: have shipped now. Well that you can't just start like that. Okay,
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: I'm sorry. You can't do it on air. You can't
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: do it on air live. It doesn't work like that.
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: I just wanted to make you happy because like like, well.
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: You can start ship with uh. And then just like
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: like he had a name and it was like right
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: there and he was about to spit it out, but
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: like he just like he just couldn't. He just couldn't
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: do it, like something, just he just shut himself down.
- 1:34:57Speaker 4: No, I was just gonna I think everyone's too easy
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: to because.
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: You're like, oh, they get busy, they're too busy listening
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: to that other show, and it's like, what other podcast
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: is there for?
- 1:35:08Speaker 4: There's only one left.
- 1:35:10Speaker 3: There's only two of us, right, that's it?
- 1:35:15Speaker 4: Yeah, well in English?
- 1:35:17Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: Probably.
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: I don't know if we can start French and Spanish.
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: I don't know if we can start shopping French. I
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: ain't gonna lie to you like we might lose that one.
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: I have a very great French insult that I made up.
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: Okay, we'll have adam.
- 1:35:34Speaker 4: Do you want to hear it?
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: Well? Yeah, you can't be like I have a great
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: French insult and then just not tell us. That'd be
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: a great place to stop the show.
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I've I think I forgot some of
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: the correct grammar for it, but nause un lascian. It
- 1:36:01Speaker 4: means it means you swim like a bitch.
- 1:36:04Speaker 3: Oh, really, very.
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: Offense to that.
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna say, you got you got a
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: half fish right here? Buh.
- 1:36:15Speaker 4: Very specifically, it means you swim like a female dog.
- 1:36:18Speaker 3: Oh okay. I don't really know how swimming like a
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: bitch would affect me. I'd just be like, okay, okay,
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: I don't know how that works. Like like, you know,
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: I'm now you're You're probably right. I've never been a
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: strong swimmer, you know. I can float pretty good though.
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: But with that being said, make sure you go to
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: your locals. Spend some money with your locals, make sure
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: they get what they need. Keep on keeping on making
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: sure Altered is out there and everybody's having a good time.
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: Try a new format, try a new hero, and we
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: will see you all next week. Oh thanks for a
- 1:36:57Speaker 3: guy trying, for coming on, thank you for having me,
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: thank you, thank you for that, and I will see
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: all master. Bye.
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: How do you
