- 0:00Speaker 1: What does it mean to you to be able to
- 0:03Speaker 1: get your first home win in title design?
- 0:04Speaker 2: Yeah, the big guys played really well tonight. It wasn't
- 0:07Speaker 2: the prettiest of games, but they got the win, so
- 0:10Speaker 2: that's the most important thing.
- 0:11Speaker 1: As far as your game and the evolution of you
- 0:14Speaker 1: being here with this organization, what about I guess your
- 0:16Speaker 1: comfortability and getting around this group and trusting them comes
- 0:20Speaker 1: into your game when you get.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Out there on the ice. Yeah, feeling a lot better
- 0:22Speaker 2: every day. Like I said, first home game for me,
- 0:25Speaker 2: so that's a new experience. Every game, feeling better and better.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Every day, like I said, feeling better. Just continuing to
- 0:31Speaker 2: grow and feeling good right now.
- 0:33Speaker 1: There were some stretches where you didn't face a shot
- 0:35Speaker 1: for a couple minutes. How did you stay calm and
- 0:37Speaker 1: in the game?
- 0:38Speaker 2: Yeah, just trying to stay in it mentally. When you've
- 0:40Speaker 2: got a good team like that, we've got a lot
- 0:43Speaker 2: of possession of the puck and keeping it in their zone,
- 0:45Speaker 2: which is nice, but get a little bored and a
- 0:47Speaker 2: little cold down there on one end so I'll just
- 0:50Speaker 2: continue trying to move and you know just trying to
- 0:52Speaker 2: stay in the mental what's.
- 0:54Speaker 1: It like staring down Sid and Gino and Carlson and
- 0:56Speaker 1: all those.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Guys yeah it's pretty awesome obviously as a Canadian you
- 0:58Speaker 2: know watching you know Carlson and you know Crosby my
- 1:01Speaker 2: whole life so you know really cool experience and you
- 1:04Speaker 2: know for me and McDavid last game and you know
- 1:06Speaker 2: Crosby this game so every game is a new experience
- 1:09Speaker 2: and new challenge so it's cool Speaking of challenges, what
- 1:12Speaker 2: do you learn in a game like this? It's your
- 1:13Speaker 2: first start at home, a fixie team like that. What
- 1:16Speaker 2: do you learn? They've had a pretty good year offensively,
- 1:20Speaker 2: so I knew it was going to be a good
- 1:22Speaker 2: test tonight. Obviously, you give up the first shot, first goal,
- 1:25Speaker 2: so I'm just continuing trying to bounce back there and
- 1:29Speaker 2: continuing to learn and get that experience and I'll be
- 1:31Speaker 2: better for it.
- 1:32Speaker 1: What's your mental process in terms of not allowing the
- 1:35Speaker 1: idea of a bounce-back game or the need for a
- 1:37Speaker 1: bounce-back win to get too much into your game?
- 1:39Speaker 2: I think about it a little bit. For me, I
- 1:42Speaker 2: think I strive on those games. Like I said, I
- 1:45Speaker 2: wasn't the prettiest, but I got the win, so that's
- 1:47Speaker 2: the most important thing. A little added extra pressure is
- 1:50Speaker 2: not a bad thing for me. It just makes me
- 1:52Speaker 2: lock in that much more.
- 1:53Speaker 1: What was the first thought through your head after that
- 1:55Speaker 1: save at VMA?
- 1:56Speaker 2: I'm pretty excited. I don't know. I was like, is
- 1:58Speaker 2: the game over yet? I decided to buckle up. There
- 2:01Speaker 2: was quite a bit of bodies in front of me,
- 2:02Speaker 2: so I made sure that we get the win and
- 2:04Speaker 2: that we were right there. It was pretty awesome.
- 2:08Speaker 1: And then your first home start in the NHL, what
- 2:10Speaker 1: did that feel like to hear the crowd on your
- 2:12Speaker 1: side instead of the other side?
- 2:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it was great, especially on a Monday night. Like
- 2:15Speaker 2: we've shown every single game, the fans and the crowd
- 2:18Speaker 2: have been unbelievable, so it's been really fun playing behind
- 2:21Speaker 2: those guys. Hopefully we keep it going here for them.
- 2:25Speaker 2: What does this win do for you and your confidence
- 2:27Speaker 2: going forward? Yeah, it continues to grow. Like I said earlier,
- 2:30Speaker 2: just getting that experience and first home win for me,
- 2:33Speaker 2: especially after a tough one in Boston there, so it's
- 2:37Speaker 2: going to be an continuing to grow and I think
- 2:39Speaker 2: for me it's just continuing to pile on these experiences
- 2:42Speaker 2: and I'll do better for me in the future. Thank you.
