- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Chanel is the 16-year-old founder of Chic and Charmed Boutique, a fast-growing Canadian jewelry brand known for its affordable crystal ball jewelry.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: What started as a small business in Saskatchewan has quickly expanded into a national brand with appearances at major trade shows across Canada, billboards in multiple cities, and features on CTV news, global news, city news, radio stations, podcasts, and online publications.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Chanel has built the brand while balancing high school and traveling city to city for events and speaking opportunities.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Chic and Charmed Boutique is known for its waterproof 0.925 sterling silver jewelry offered at a fraction of the price of competitors.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Through entrepreneurship, Chanel hopes to inspire other young people to chase big goals and build confidence in themselves.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Welcome to this show, Chanel.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Lisa, for having me.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: I'm very excited.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: I am super excited to hear the story of a 16-year-old who started, I think it said 30.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Did you start this when?
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: 13?
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: 13, yeah.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, gee.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: You know, it's funny.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: I'm currently working on some scholarships for grade 12s, have applied for a scholarship, and I'm part of the committee.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: And I am amazed at students like yourself who are doing so much more than going to school.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Um, I went to school a very long time ago, and you guys are volunteering, um, extracurricular, super smart, um it working full-time, entrepreneur, being it's amazing.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: So, congratulations for what you're doing.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: I am excited to hear more because um you are our next generation of leaders, so so we're excited.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: So um, I know that you're only 16, and I'm you have a bit of a professional story, and I really want to hear how you got to where you are today being a national brand, and if there was that pivotal turning point or something you you've lived or moved along the journey.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so with like the pivot like kind of moments, I think lots of people have that one thing that happens and then it all clicks.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: But for me, it was multiple ones and all through the journey of knowing that things are turning or things, you know, not everything's gonna go perfect in business, but everything kind of clicks together and it interconnects.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: And, you know, I had the idea when I was 13, but it was me just playing with my mom's jewelry, really.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: It wasn't me, you know, being big like how it is today.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then I when I was 14, my dad suggested why don't we do some trade shows?
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: So our first show was in Warmon, Saskatchewan, and we got really good feedback.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: And that's kind of how that's kind of one of the moments that we kind of knew that this business could go somewhere in my mind.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: And I think at first my dad didn't really think of anything of it because I was selling on Facebook Marketplace beginning, and then you know, trade shows, and then so forth.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: And then I think he realized, you know, she's going somewhere.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: And then after that, we did lots of big shows in Saskatoons.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: We had Candy Cane Lane's one big Christmas one, and we have rock and gem shows, and we've done many big ones so forth.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: And then I think that's when we thought, you know, I don't have to stay in Saskatoon, I can go Canada wide.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: So our first out-of-town show was in Regina.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: We did the incredible bridal show, and then after that, we did a national wide tour with the National Women's Show.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: So we went to Calgary, Ottawa, Vancouver, Toronto, and now we're doing a Canada wide tour with the Rock and Gem show.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: So next month we'll be uh in Kelowna and Victoria and Emmetton and so forth, all different kinds of cities.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: And I think through all the moments of going through the business because you learn so much, there's so many aha moments that you have, and it's like this works out and this interconnects, and this uh relation goes to this, and this opportunity meets this one.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: And it's lots of just everything interconnects in business.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: That's the easiest way to put it.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Um, you you talk a little bit about your dad.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: I mean, your mom's jewelry, but your dad has always is your dad your role model?
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: You're not he sounds like a number one support system.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: Yes, he is.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: He's a big part of the company, and he's probably one of the reasons where I am today because he he helped me set up at shows to start with, and he got contacts and suppliers, and you know, he still helps me at shows today, and he's always, you know, dealing with people for me and helping me with the business, and he's probably he's the number one supporter of the company for sure.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: And is your dad like is your dad an entrepreneur?
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Does he does he understand?
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: He he he can guide you?
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he is.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: He's in the construction field, he's been building houses and so forth for 35 years plus.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: So he knows all the ropes.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: So I think that's what helps as well.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Wow, I love this.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: What's the hardest thing um that you've had to figure out as a young entrepreneur?
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: I think as a young entrepreneur, you have lots of setbacks, but you also have lots of advantages with it.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: So, you know, people assume lots of things when you're young.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: They think you can't do it all, they think school might take over too much business and so forth.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: And I have a little story.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: When I wanted to do a billboard campaign, our first one in Saskatoon, I called Phil, he works with Patterson, and I said, Hey, I want to do a billboard campaign.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: I'm 14, I was at the time, and I want to do something in the future.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: And he says, Oh, well, I have to call you back.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: So I thought, oh, maybe he was busy uh at this time.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: He's phoning my dad saying, I have this 14-year-old girl phoning me, and I don't know if this is real or what because they don't know, right?
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: You make assumptions and it's hard to believe.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: And you know, my dad talked, which is nice to have my dad because he's helping me with these ropes and all these setbacks.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: And then once you meet me, I'm a little bit different, I'm mature, and I have a mindset and you can see my passion.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: And he said, you know what, this is pretty good.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: I'm impressed, but I didn't think of anything at first, and that's kind of a setback too, people assuming things, and you have those setbacks of your age, but then I also have lots of advantages, right?
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: So I can get my age out, and people are surprised.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: And then, you know, when people see you a your age, they want to know your story, and then I can explain my products and so forth.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: So it all kind of works out.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they learn to love you from yeah, that phone call, they don't know you, they they think you're a 14-year-old.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: I I want a billboard, and yeah, from the moment I met you, like it just it was never you present so well.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Um thank you.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: That's amazing.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: So, uh, I mean, I think I know the answer to this because just listening to you, but who took a chance on you early and what did they see before you saw it in yourself?
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Well, like I mentioned, my dad helped me, and I think he's seen me as his daughter, of course, and you want to help your kids when you have them, but I think he also wanted to see where the business could grow because we were so small at the time, but we were selling some small items, right?
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: Of so forth.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: But I think he wanted to see how big could she get in so small time, right?
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and see what could happen, where we could go.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: And I think he's having fun traveling around too, and he gets to meet different people and so forth and see different places that you wouldn't get to see.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: But I think he wanted to take a chance, because I'm his daughter, of course, but he wanted to see where it could go and what I could lead with and what my passion could bring on.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Does he allow you to go first?
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Because I know he's had to step in, like the billboard, and he's had to say, like, the guy called your dad, you know.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: It's like, who is this?
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: Does he allow you to go first?
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: You make the call, and he and he'll he'll assist you.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: He he's not gonna do it for you.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: That's sort of the reality.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: It's kind of funny.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: I tell him after everything's done.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: So I applied for the rock and jump show, like I said, I applied to Klona, then I told him I applied to Klona and hope it works out.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: And with interviews like this, I just message and then if it works out, good.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: If it doesn't, then I have him as a backup to if I need help.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: But it's really just me doing what I kind of think would be good and beneficial for the company.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: And he's all for it too.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: He knows what's gonna work and you know he trusts me in making decisions, but I don't go too crazy where I'm booking shows in Australia, right?
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: Like I'm not I'm not going nuts or going too big too fast.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: But he I think he trusts my judgment and my instance of what to do.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: And what about school in regards to someone supporting you there?
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: Because I I don't think you're missing school.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: Like this is kind of a weekend, but maybe you are.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: And how are they supporting you?
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: Well, I do.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: Sometimes I have to miss school for shows when you have to fly on a Friday and come back Monday, so forth.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: And I think the teachers are really good at first.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: Like when I first started, I was in grade eight-ish and they didn't really know.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: I didn't say anything because it wasn't big and I didn't know what was gonna come of it.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: But as soon as I went to high school, everybody kind of just knew me as walking in.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: And, you know, first, you know, you just see me as this entrepreneur, and I seem big and they don't know me.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: But once they got to know me and see me and hear my story, I think they wanted to help.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: And of course, as a teacher, you want your students to succeed and see where their success can go.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: And that's with anything in life.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: You want to you want to see everybody succeed, and that's how it is in business.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: And they want to help me.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: There's lots of communication that goes back and forth and making sure, you know, material is done and assignments and tests, but everybody works together and they understand.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: And you know, my parents, they understand too.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: So everybody kind of works together.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: And of course, I have to do my job and make sure everything's done, but just works.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: Oh, I love it.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: So in the last few years, I'm wondering if you have um any habits, disciplines, or decisions that are helping you grow.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: Even, I mean, I know you're still figuring it out, but are there things you do that are helping you?
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: Habits or yeah, disciplines?
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: So not every time you're gonna be motivated.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: At first, when you start something, you're so motivated, you're so excited.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: But I think motivation runs when you get a little bit of success too.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: Once you reach a little milestone, you want to achieve more.
- 9:59SPEAKER_01: You get hungry for it, really.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: That's the easiest word to use.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: But every day you're not gonna be motivated as the last.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: Sometimes you're gonna have setbacks.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: Like I said, there's gonna be hardships in business.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: Some people are not gonna like your product, or some people are not gonna be nice to you in general because that's just how people are.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: And sometimes you're gonna have rejection and people are not gonna want to deal with you.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: But even when you don't have motivation, you have to have discipline to set that back up.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: You still have to say, you know what, I'm gonna get up, I'm gonna email four people this time.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna email my pitches to these companies and media and so forth and keep going.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: And, you know, maybe you're not gonna want to, you know, during Christmas time, I had so many orders and I was just, you know, dismotivated because there's so much to do and there it's so overwhelming.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: But I told myself, you know, I'm grateful I get to come and do this job and be an entrepreneur and meet all these different people.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: And I'm so lucky I even have all these orders to start with.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: And, you know, I wasn't motivated, but I had that discipline to set that back up and say, you know what, I'm gonna do it anyways.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Do you find you turn to someone?
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: Is it your parents?
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: They, because I hope, like, I mean, I hope my daughter comes to me when she feels that disappointment.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: And I'll be like, you know what?
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: Sit in it for a moment and then let's get going.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: Do you have that?
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: Do you have a surrounding group or a person?
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I have a surrounding group.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: At home, my dad and my mom are pretty good.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: If I have troubles, I ask them for help.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: But even at school, friends are helping and making sure if I'm overwhelmed, you know, they say it's okay, Chanel, take a deep breath.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be fine.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: But everybody has to work together, and that's one good thing.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: I have such a good and big support system that it helps me when times do get tough.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Do you have?
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: And I this is I just thought of this as I mean, as an adult, I have lots of groups I can join.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: I have coaches I can get by, you know, uh Ford.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: I have groups I can join, Leader Impact.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: I, you know, do you have anything outside?
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: Like, do you have any entrepreneur groups, young leader groups?
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Do you have anything as a 16-year-old?
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: I don't have many like a group that you go to or you can chat online with, but I have lots of people kind of in a group, like in business sense.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: I know lots of young entrepreneurs.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: If I need help, I can you know message them and reach out and so forth, or even even older entrepreneurs when we go to shows, I meet them, I follow them, I have yeah, I have that connection.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: So in group-wise, I don't have a full-on go to a group and sit down, but I have lots of connections that will help me.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's important to have those people around you.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: So I'm glad you know that they're there, you can talk to them and that that they're reciprocating and giving it back to you.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: For sure.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: So I love Leader Impact for that.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: Uh, we meet weekly, and I and I know you're not a member of Leader Impact, but our our goal is um, like our mission of Leader Impact is to help marketplace leaders explore the relevance of God in their personal, professional, and spiritual lives.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: So, how does the spiritual make the practical difference in your life as a young entrepreneur and leader?
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna say it takes takes a major role, but it does have a role in my life.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: I do believe in God, and I think there's always somebody watching down on us for sure.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: And I think when times get tough or even when things are going right, it's good to know that people are watching down on me.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: And of course, that you have to have hope and faith.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: And I think you make your own success and you make your own opportunities.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: And I think having that mindset of somebody's watching me and somebody's hoping for the best keeps me going.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: Because it's like you have that little angel on the back of your shoulder saying it's gonna be okay and you can keep going.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: And that's what keeps me motivated when I'm not of two, but you have to have that discipline.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: But I feel like all the stuff they kind of all interconnect the spiritual and the emotional and so forth.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a good feeling to know that you have someone on your side that bigger picture.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: What do you do when you're feeling um uh like when you're feeling down uh that if you were alone, I think maybe that's if you were alone and you had a bad season, a bad situation, a bad like what would you do, Chanel?
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: What what would you what would you say to yourself?
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: What would you feel?
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: Because I think I think young people, they we have to be taught we have the tools, right?
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: Like what what are those for you?
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: It's you were alone.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: Yes, if I was alone, it's really just talking to myself.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: It sounds crazy, but it's talking to myself and thinking it's gonna be okay.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: And I know that seems, you know, it's everybody does that, but it really helps.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: You have to also think, you know, you have to look back on yourself because sometimes we're so focused on our fast-paced society and thinking about what's next that we don't look at what we've achieved and what's behind us already.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: I think knowing our past and looking back on our past is pretty good because it shows you what I should do in the future and what I shouldn't do.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: And you learn lessons.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: And I know lots of people say they don't want to look back on their past, but sometimes that's a part of us, and that's why we're we're who we are and why we're here today.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: And you have to look back, but you also you have to tell yourself everything's gonna be okay because look at how much you achieved, or even in life, if you think in general, look at all the things I've overcome and over and all the people I've met, and maybe some people didn't help you in the way you wanted to, but you have to overcome that and you say, I'm better now.
- 15:05SPEAKER_01: And you can think about in business sense, I've achieved so much, I've done here, I've been here, I've sold so much, and you can think, you know what, that's not gonna stop now.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: That's gonna get better from now, but you have to overcome those challenges.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: It's like hills, you know, you're gonna go over a small one, but then there's gonna be a big one, but then there's just gonna be flat land, right?
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: And you have to, it's gonna be a bumpy road, but you have to overcome those challenges for sure.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: So listening to you, I think, um, what can my generation do?
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: And I I'm, you know, I'm older.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Um, what can we do to help you and your generation lead better?
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: I think really just giving us advice and helping us, and you know, you're uh sometimes as an older generation to think of you're not gonna help us fully because you always have different experiences as well and different life paths, and there's so much things that happened, you know.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: You can think about 10 years ago, there's so many different things that happened than compare today.
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: You can go 20, 30 years and it gets even different.
- 16:01SPEAKER_01: So not everything's gonna be the same, and you're not gonna have all the best advice of up to date, but you have lots of wisdom to give.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: And I think listening to anybody, even even younger people, all we have all different lives of experiences, and I think we should all connect and listen.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: And you know, one thing might work that works good for you, that works good for me, and sometimes you're gonna have a vice that doesn't work and it's not gonna go well.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: And I think just really connecting and everything's an experience, and we're grateful that we're even here to experience it, but really just seeing how it goes and from a life experience, of course.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: Do you think there's anything that our generation misunderstands about your generation?
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: Is there anything you feel?
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: I think over time, my generation kind of made an image that like we're always on video games and we're not studying and we're parting and we're drinking and so forth.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: And that's just when you think of a teenager, that's the whole kind of scheme you get.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: And I think over time, and over the years of watching my peers and even other young entrepreneurs and even young people in general, that we're kind of debunking that over time.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: We're saying, no, we don't want to go partying on the weekends, we want to study, we want to achieve.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: And you can see that with scholarships, and you can see that in high schools, that there's more kids actually graduating now than there was 10 years ago, and there's better grades to back that up, and then there's more scholarships getting handed out, and there's more kids getting into universities, and you can think about business.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: There's more young entrepreneurs than ever.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: And of course, you're gonna see the declines and setbacks because 10 years ago is not what it is today, but there's more debunking going on, and there's more kids saying, you know what, I can achieve that because my generation is doing that, and it is possible.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, I I um listening to you say that, I can now believe it.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: I may have been a person that maybe thought that.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: Uh my children aren't like that, but I, you know, I maybe I looked at other kids, and when I did those uh scholarship reviews yesterday, it blew me away to think this is our future.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: This is amazing.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: This it was inspiring.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: And you think I'm only looking at a few of them, and there's so many.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: And there's so many across Canada, you can think the world of what's going on, and it's amazing.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: But there, you know, there's gonna be kids who are still in that system, right?
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: Those what they want to do, but there's so much coming out of goodness out of the young's now.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: There are, yeah.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: So, what do you hope people feel when they hear your story today from a 16-year-old entrepreneur?
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: I hope when you hear and hear me talk that you get a little inspired.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: Anybody, not even young generations, older generations, everybody.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: I hope you get a little bit inspired.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: I hope you think, even if it's not business-wise, of course, I'm an entrepreneur, even in your personal life, you get expired inspired to do something and achieve.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: Because I say, for my advice, I say this in every podcast and interview I do, I say, I say anything's possible, nothing's impossible.
- 18:51SPEAKER_01: But you also have to, you have to dream big, because that's the number one.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: How do you get your idea?
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: But you also have to know that you can achieve that because you can see these people, the lots of people have these big things and have these dreams and they come true, but you think, well, that's not gonna happen for me.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: But it's also your mindset that comes with it.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: You have to think, I can, right?
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: And that's why I say I say to everybody, I say, turn any no or maybe into a yes.
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: Because I always say with my story, if I didn't say yes to lots of things, and of course I have to watch what I say yes, yes, yes to.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: I can't go to Australia for a show, like I said, or so forth, and maybe do a billboard in Australia, like that's nuts, but I have to think it's possible.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: It's not nuts, but it's I have to think everything's possible, right?
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: I can go to Calgary, like we have our billboard campaign, we're doing Regina in Calgary, and I have to think, you know, anything's possible.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: I can do anything in Canada, and it's just having that mindset.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: How did you get so smart?
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: My dad, like I said, he's like number one supporter, but he's also my number one mentor, and he tells me all these different things and advices, like I said, you know, your generation, you're probably around the same age as him.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: It's so good to learn because you guys have so much wisdom, and he was an entrepreneur, so he knew what went well for him and what didn't go well, and I think that's what's leading me today.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: And of course, not everything that he did is gonna do well for me, like I mentioned, but it all interconnects.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, you know what?
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: I am just thinking that I am loving being here, loving listening to you because you inspire me to get more involved in your generation and and help and and sponsor you and and and put your name out there and mentor you.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: And I mean, you're amazing.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: So, this last question I just have to ask like, where are you gonna go from here?
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: What is your dream?
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: And I mean, it may change.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: I because you're 16, but right now, what is your dream job and what is your dream?
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: If I had to look about maybe five or 10 years down the road, this would be kind of wouldn't be a dream.
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: This is what I want to achieve, and this is my goal.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: My goal is to finish high school, of course, and go into business, do undergrad in Calgary so we can expand into Alberta and further and so forth.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: So I have a bigger kind of network there and my family lives there, so it's easier, you know, everybody's there already.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: And then my goal is to do medicine, go into medical school, like my brother, he's in genetics and metabolics.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: So have a backup.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: I I know when I say this, people laugh, but it's a backup plant medicine because if the business goes, you know, far south, at least have something to go back on because nothing's forever anymore.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: You know, 50 years ago, we can look at people who had jobs for 50 years and then they retired, and that's just how it goes.
- 21:28SPEAKER_01: But now people are switching jobs and people are getting laid off, and all these crises are happening.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: And you have to think about what's gonna happen five years from now, not 10 or 20.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: You have to really prepare for these things, and that's been my goal is to have two backup plans.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: If business goes well, good, it worked out.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: But if it doesn't, I have a backup plan.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: And then my goal with the business would to be going expanding across Canada even further.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: Like I said, Alberta going hardcore there, but also going to more cities across Canada.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: So now we're going to the East Coast.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: We have New Brunswick, we're booking Fredericton and Newfoundland and Nova Scotia and just expanding further and having more billboards and going on more podcasts, interviews, and just doing more and having getting my name out because that's the number one thing.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: I I spoke at the Centennial High School here in Saskatoon to the entrepreneurial ship 30 class, and I said that was my thing.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: I said, if no, if you don't get your name out, nobody knows you, nobody's gonna buy, and nobody's gonna hear you.
- 22:21SPEAKER_01: So you have to expand and share your story, spread it, and don't be embarrassed and don't be shy and you know, live your life to the fullest in business and get everybody to know you because that's you know, I know you now, you could you post me, I meet somebody from there, and it keeps going on.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: But if I wouldn't have you know been on this podcast, nobody would know me.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: Well, so many more people know you now.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I hope.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: So this ends our podcast.
