- 0:02Carmen Lezeth: Now you're fine.
- 0:03Carmen Lezeth: Hey everyone, Welcome to All About the Joy.
- 0:05Carmen Lezeth: And as soon as I said that, you froze for half a second, Now you're back.
- 0:09Carmen Lezeth: We're always going to have technical difficulties.
- 0:11Carmen Lezeth: I think it's just every show.
- 0:13Carmen Lezeth: I think every show is just going to be this kind of thing where we have technical difficulties.
- 0:16Carmen Lezeth: Andrea said she might show up, or she said she was going to hope she does.
- 0:30Carmen Lezeth: I haven't talked to her in a long time.
- 0:31Carmen Lezeth: She's so busy.
- 0:31Carmen Lezeth: Okay, so I everyone knows I have I actually have four clients, but I consider two of them one at this point because they're a family, like it's just crazy.
- 0:34Carmen Lezeth: But anyways, so I have four clients.
- 0:35Carmen Lezeth: I am having really tough time doing my work because I'm just tired of the negativity in these offices.
- 0:43Carmen Lezeth: I'm just tired of the negativity in these offices.
- 0:49Carmen Lezeth: Hey, Tony, it's so funny because people will say that I'm mean or I'm yelling or whatever I'm like.
- 0:52Carmen Lezeth: Yes, I'm yelling, yes, I'm glad you noticed what is happening right now.
- 0:56Carmen Lezeth: Do you know what I mean?
- 0:57Carmen Lezeth: But today at my other the saintly job I call it the saintly job it it's just my client flew in people that some of we haven't met.
- 1:06Carmen Lezeth: I've met most of them, but some people have met because they're in other countries.
- 1:09Carmen Lezeth: So he flew everybody in because they're all going to Disney crap.
- 1:12Rick Costa: I honestly like oh, that's right.
- 1:15Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, billy's here too, so I will see Billy.
- 1:17Carmen Lezeth: This week.
- 1:17Carmen Lezeth: I'm not going to Disney, I know y'all.
- 1:19Carmen Lezeth: I will not be at Disney.
- 1:21Carmen Lezeth: I will not be live streaming from Disney.
- 1:23Carmen Lezeth: I am not.
- 1:24Carmen Lezeth: I respect Disney.
- 1:25Carmen Lezeth: I care that Disney is a good company that supports the things I support, or whatever, but I just don't care.
- 1:32Carmen Lezeth: I don't care.
- 1:33Rick Costa: Live from the house of mouse.
- 1:34Rick Costa: I don't.
- 1:38Carmen Lezeth: I mean, the best thing I love about Disney is that they acquired Marvel.
- 1:42Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 1:43Carmen Lezeth: But all that other stuff beforehand, I just never Look.
- 1:46Carmen Lezeth: Cynthia wants to hit me, because if you don't know, cynthia, why don't you tell everyone, on a scale of one to 10, what kind of Disney fan you are At 20.
- 1:56Cynthia Ruiz: Yeah, hey Melanie.
- 1:59Carmen Lezeth: Hey Melanie, how are you, how are you doing?
- 2:01Rick Costa: She's a Disney fan as much as I'm a Marvel fan.
- 2:04Carmen Lezeth: Yes, yeah, you guys are nuts, yeah, but you like, if marvel went elsewhere, you'd go with marvel, you're not stuck on disney.
- 2:11Carmen Lezeth: Oh no, yeah, see, yeah, okay, let me just finish.
- 2:15Carmen Lezeth: I just want to give a shout out because I know some of these people are listening today.
- 2:18Carmen Lezeth: So we met a lot of people that we work with, usually on slack and zoom and it's all internet online, whatever, and they whatever, and they were flown in and so it's part of a gift that he gave them was to fly them all in to go to Disney, blah, blah, blah, whatever.
- 2:30Carmen Lezeth: But it doesn't matter.
- 2:31Carmen Lezeth: I just want to say that working with these people, we work so seamlessly together, almost because we have to, because we're like we're taking care of a huge company, but from different parts of the world, and then when you meet people and you're like, oh my God, and you feel the connection, it's so cool, it's so cool and they're just so, everybody's so respectful and I don't know.
- 2:52Carmen Lezeth: I'm sure I would like people would get on my nerves, but it's just a different vibe.
- 2:56Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if you guys have that at your work.
- 2:58Carmen Lezeth: Like, have you ever experienced that?
- 2:59Carmen Lezeth: There's one part of maybe your office where the vibe is different from.
- 3:02Carmen Lezeth: I just have this in different companies and I can keep doing my work, if I can work with people who are positive, and even when something bad happens, it's not like you dig the hole deeper.
- 3:12Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 3:13Carmen Lezeth: It's like let's figure out a way to oh my God, you know everybody's.
- 3:16Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, there's a problem, let's try to work together and fix it, whereas the other place there's a problem and everyone's like I didn't do it, that's not my job.
- 3:24Carmen Lezeth: I was like walking around and this past weekend I was like I really don't want to.
- 3:28Carmen Lezeth: I don't want to work for these people anymore.
- 3:29Carmen Lezeth: It's so bad.
- 3:30Carmen Lezeth: Look at Melanie say will the Avengers take over Disney?
- 3:32Carmen Lezeth: I don't think so.
- 3:34Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 3:36Carmen Lezeth: Rick, have you seen Deadpool yet?
- 3:37Carmen Lezeth: Yes, okay, we'll talk about it later.
- 3:46Carmen Lezeth: Cynthia, did you see Deadpool yet?
- 3:46Carmen Lezeth: Not yet.
- 3:47Carmen Lezeth: No, anyways, work-wise, just oh, we lost him.
- 3:48Carmen Lezeth: He just popped back on and popped back out again.
- 3:53Carmen Lezeth: Uh-oh, wow.
- 3:54Carmen Lezeth: What is happening, dude?
- 3:58Carmen Lezeth: What are you doing?
- 3:59Rick Costa: My stupid VPN.
- 4:00Rick Costa: I just turned it off.
- 4:01Rick Costa: I don't know why that does that.
- 4:02Rick Costa: It's so weird.
- 4:04Carmen Lezeth: I was like you need to get all upset about Marvel and Disney.
- 4:09Rick Costa: They're listening and they cut me off.
- 4:10Rick Costa: Tony's going, you're right.
- 4:15Carmen Lezeth: Oh look who's here, Big Marvel fan coming on.
- 4:18Cynthia Ruiz: The biggest.
- 4:23Carmen Lezeth: Hey Andrea, how are you?
- 4:25Andrea: I'm good.
- 4:26Andrea: Sorry I'm late, I was having video issues.
- 4:28Carmen Lezeth: Okay.
- 4:28Carmen Lezeth: So I sent your daughter a message to make sure that she went to you to get the money I sent her for her birthday.
- 4:34Carmen Lezeth: She didn't even text me back, Dang.
- 4:39Andrea: I said I'll check in with her.
- 4:40Andrea: I know she's been napping, but I don't know.
- 4:43Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I'm not going to say since what time, but okay, she's a teenager.
- 4:47Rick Costa: I was going to text you back, but I fell asleep.
- 4:49Andrea: She's getting all the sleep in.
- 4:51Carmen Lezeth: All right, anyways, happy birthday to her.
- 4:54Andrea: It's early, I know.
- 4:55Carmen Lezeth: How are you?
- 4:56Andrea: Enjoy it.
- 4:56Andrea: Good, I'm good, I'm good, same old.
- 4:59Carmen Lezeth: Same old.
- 5:00Carmen Lezeth: All right, we were just talking about work and I already went through my kind of work week, so I was asking Rick and Cynthia if they've experienced the same thing I've experienced this past week, which has been clients from hell and then other clients who I just love and think are amazing.
- 5:13Carmen Lezeth: So, rick, did you have any experience with that at all?
- 5:17Rick Costa: With clients from hell or talking about working.
- 5:18Carmen Lezeth: Just in general, whatever floats your boat.
- 5:21Rick Costa: There's always people that are annoying.
- 5:23Rick Costa: Like just today somebody goes you sent me something overnight and it was the wrong thing.
- 5:27Rick Costa: And I was like did I screw up?
- 5:29Rick Costa: So I looked at the purchase order she sent and I'm like, no, that's the perk, that's what you put on the purchase order and that's what we sent.
- 5:33Rick Costa: Oh, but down there at the bottom I said it's supposed to be a roll, not a pack.
- 5:37Rick Costa: I was like I'm looking at every little detail, that I'm looking at the code that you put in and that's the code I put in.
- 5:42Carmen Lezeth: And so you know you just did it like that.
- 5:44Carmen Lezeth: I know you did because I hope you did.
- 5:46Carmen Lezeth: I hope you went into that ghetto.
- 5:47Carmen Lezeth: Five, I know you did with that I was much nicer yeah, yeah, but do you like what you do, uh?
- 5:59Cynthia Ruiz: yeah, I'm all right.
- 6:02Cynthia Ruiz: Okay, that's a no all right.
- 6:04Carmen Lezeth: Cynthia was telling us that she was happy about her new job and yes, oh yes I am I'm definitely happy that I left my other job.
- 6:12Cynthia Ruiz: I do miss the people because, really, though, because I miss some of them, they won't say all.
- 6:19Cynthia Ruiz: I do miss some of them because we were like a family and and, just like you said, when there was a problem we all did work together.
- 6:26Cynthia Ruiz: And then there were others that were just like that's not my job or stuff like that.
- 6:29Cynthia Ruiz: Hey.
- 6:30Carmen Lezeth: Darcy Happy belated birthday.
- 6:32Carmen Lezeth: Her birthday was yesterday and she also just had her book come out on Tuesday, called Scapegoat.
- 6:39Carmen Lezeth: Mine is on the way, can't wait to read it.
- 6:41Carmen Lezeth: What's it about I forgot?
- 6:43Carmen Lezeth: Oh, can't wait to read it.
- 6:49Carmen Lezeth: Um, what's I forgot?
- 6:49Carmen Lezeth: Oh, darcyhafercom, it's called.
- 6:50Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, so go to her website if you want to check it out, darcyhafercom, nice to see you here, darcy.
- 6:53Carmen Lezeth: Thank you for stopping by.
- 6:54Carmen Lezeth: So, andrea, how's work for you?
- 6:55Carmen Lezeth: Are you still traveling and loving kansas or wherever it is?
- 7:00Andrea: it's iowa.
- 7:01Andrea: I haven't been there since may, so that all fine.
- 7:03Andrea: I've had a pretty good work week.
- 7:05Andrea: I've got a couple of new clients, so we're in the honeymoon phase.
- 7:10Carmen Lezeth: I was just going to say, okay, you get excited when you get a new client, but I just did the sigh and I'm like, yeah, no, because I now realize I don't want any more clients, I want to get rid of my clients, I just want the money.
- 7:28Andrea: Don't we all any more clients?
- 7:28Andrea: I want to get rid of my clients.
- 7:29Andrea: I just want the money.
- 7:29Andrea: This has been our conversation for how many decades?
- 7:31Andrea: When you figure out how to do that, you let me know.
- 7:35Carmen Lezeth: I really don't want to work for people anymore because they're all ridiculous and high maintenance.
- 7:39Carmen Lezeth: And I only have one client that is not high maintenance at all, just one.
- 7:44Carmen Lezeth: And yeah, I won't say anything, but I'm just saying, yeah, you know what?
- 7:51Carmen Lezeth: I think I'm tired of negative people and I'm tired of people like one, one client.
- 7:56Carmen Lezeth: Everyone does the bare minimum, everyone.
- 8:01Carmen Lezeth: And like people don't want to file, they don't want to, they don't want to, they don't want to go to the bank, they don't want to go to the post office, they don't want to do.
- 8:09Carmen Lezeth: And I'm the kind of person like, okay, we got to do something with everybody, do it.
- 8:10Carmen Lezeth: And then I'm like, wait what?
- 8:11Carmen Lezeth: Hello, I'm your boss, bitches, if I'm going to the bank, you're going to the bank.
- 8:17Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean?
- 8:18Carmen Lezeth: Like I had to back and then I realized it's also my fault because I give people too much.
- 8:24Carmen Lezeth: Like I help too much.
- 8:26Carmen Lezeth: I should just be doing what I know I should be doing, just delegating that motherfucking information.
- 8:31Carmen Lezeth: Do you know what I mean?
- 8:32Carmen Lezeth: Like you do this, you do that.
- 8:33Carmen Lezeth: But I'm always trying to be helpful and it's hard to always just sit there and tell people what to do, especially when it's a small office Like I'm going to be, like you need to file those three bins and to file those three bins and I'm going to what?
- 8:47Carmen Lezeth: Sit here and do my nails.
- 8:48Carmen Lezeth: It's weird.
- 8:48Carmen Lezeth: But then what they do is they like they don't file and then they don't do stuff and I'm just done.
- 8:51Carmen Lezeth: I'm just, I'm done, I really am done, I'm done, yeah, yeah.
- 8:56Rick Costa: A pet peeve of mine is.
- 8:57Rick Costa: So, for example, at my job we have a website and you can order stuff on the website.
- 9:02Rick Costa: So somebody will be like, oh, this isn't on the website, so they'll put it up there.
- 9:06Rick Costa: But I'm like but then you didn't put it in our system so that in the future when somebody goes to order it, it automatically comes up.
- 9:13Rick Costa: I'm like follow the whole thing through to the end.
- 9:15Rick Costa: Stop doing the bare minimum.
- 9:16Rick Costa: That takes me off, yeah.
- 9:21Carmen Lezeth: I hate those websites, though.
- 9:22Carmen Lezeth: I'm just being honest.
- 9:24Carmen Lezeth: I, yeah, I hate those websites, though.
- 9:26Carmen Lezeth: I'm just being I know, like what you're saying from your point of view like I.
- 9:28Carmen Lezeth: Okay, so this is a great example.
- 9:29Carmen Lezeth: I went to pay a bill.
- 9:30Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I can't even talk about this cause I shouldn't be paying this bill, but this is the fucking point.
- 9:33Carmen Lezeth: Like, as I'm saying it, I'm like I got the bookkeeper.
- 9:39Carmen Lezeth: I tried to go onto this website to pay this stupid bill and it kept going like right, and you need this and you need this, and I have all this information that you probably shouldn't have about a person.
- 9:48Carmen Lezeth: What school did they go to?
- 9:50Carmen Lezeth: My security question?
- 9:51Carmen Lezeth: Oh, my god, whatever.
- 9:52Carmen Lezeth: And then it does the.
- 9:53Carmen Lezeth: We're gonna send you a text to your phone number and I'm like oh my god, like, and the number isn't even my clients, who I'd be like.
- 10:02Carmen Lezeth: Can you just send me the code?
- 10:02Carmen Lezeth: Like?
- 10:03Carmen Lezeth: He would know.
- 10:03Carmen Lezeth: He would just say he's like are you looking for this?
- 10:05Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean Like, but it's to the person we fired.
- 10:10Carmen Lezeth: So the way, like we, so we can't even get in to change anything.
- 10:14Carmen Lezeth: Do you know what I mean?
- 10:14Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, so the whole website thing drives me up a wall, although I know what you're saying, I'm just throwing it from my point of view Like it's yeah.
- 10:20Andrea: I'm just going to say it in case someone hears me.
- 10:22Andrea: Everything is so freaking hard to do.
- 10:25Andrea: Now I am trying to give you money.
- 10:28Andrea: Just take my money.
- 10:30Andrea: Don't ask me a bunch of fucking questions.
- 10:32Andrea: Just take my money and send me my thing.
- 10:34Andrea: We don't need to have an ongoing relationship.
- 10:37Andrea: I'm purchasing a thing.
- 10:39Andrea: Here's my money.
- 10:42Carmen Lezeth: And can you take a moment to do a survey?
- 10:46Rick Costa: Oh, that's the worst.
- 10:46Rick Costa: I hate that.
- 10:49Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, bitch, I'm going to do a fucking survey right now, give me a later.
- 10:52Andrea: Before you even have the thing, can you do a review, wow?
- 10:59Carmen Lezeth: It drives me insane and I can't stand it.
- 11:02Carmen Lezeth: But you brought up the old people thing, which is what the show is going to be about today.
- 11:05Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm just kidding.
- 11:08Carmen Lezeth: Look, I did send out some things because I was having.
- 11:10Carmen Lezeth: I was just.
- 11:11Carmen Lezeth: You can already imagine I was stressing about just dropping three clients in one day and wondering how that would go, and then moving into Andrea's house would only last for about a month or two.
- 11:23Carmen Lezeth: It's hot up here, girl.
- 11:24Carmen Lezeth: You know what?
- 11:25Carmen Lezeth: It's hot here too.
- 11:26Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, I'm sweating right now and I have the windows open, and you know I don't like to do that because my neighbors can hear me.
- 11:32Carmen Lezeth: But now, like you said, those kinds of websites make me want to go to the actual store to buy something.
- 11:37Carmen Lezeth: You know what?
- 11:38Carmen Lezeth: It's true, I try not to buy stuff on Amazon too, because I like to go into the store.
- 11:49Carmen Lezeth: We're missing some of that that's old people thing, though.
- 11:50Carmen Lezeth: That's us.
- 11:50Carmen Lezeth: That's us being old school.
- 11:51Carmen Lezeth: What did I write here?
- 11:51Carmen Lezeth: Let me just see here.
- 11:51Carmen Lezeth: I'm just having a moment.
- 11:52Carmen Lezeth: If you could go back in time right, that was like my first question in your life, age, wise, how old would you be and why?
- 11:58Carmen Lezeth: Now you can't go back with the wisdom you have now, cause we'd all want that, that come on, but is there a time in your life that you would want to go back and maybe try again?
- 12:12Andrea: no about try again, but I think, what did you say?
- 12:15Andrea: Something like what you're nostalgic about or something like I can't?
- 12:19Carmen Lezeth: remember the exact words you used, which I have a whole bunch of questions.
- 12:22Carmen Lezeth: Which one are you talking about?
- 12:23Rick Costa: yeah, I don't remember, I just but if we don't have any of our current knowledge, then how are you gonna not just do the same thing again?
- 12:29Carmen Lezeth: anyway, okay, I'll tell, I'll give you a good example what I'm talking about.
- 12:31Carmen Lezeth: I never felt more joy in my life and and this came up because we were talking about break dancing in the olympics, which I think starts tomorrow or whatever and I I don't know how I feel about break dancing in the Olympics I'm just gonna be honest with you, but as a former break dancer and a person who danced a lot as a kid, there was nothing that gave me more pure joy than performing on the street, hanging out with people, like on Forbes streets that day.
- 12:58Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 12:58Carmen Lezeth: Remember when the cars would all be you were really young but they didn't have all the cars lined up and all the windows would be open, the doors would be open, they'd all have on the same radio station or something and it would just be this cool conversation and dancing block party.
- 13:13Carmen Lezeth: It wasn't a planned one, it just happened.
- 13:15Carmen Lezeth: Hey, novak, is there an issue with age?
- 13:18Carmen Lezeth: If you're blessed, then your dear heart will get older and old.
- 13:21Carmen Lezeth: Oh wiser, maybe you meant melanie said can we change something or make different decisions?
- 13:28Carmen Lezeth: Of course you can, but I'm talking about for me.
- 13:30Carmen Lezeth: I remember feeling like loving that, and even in my neighborhood.
- 13:34Carmen Lezeth: I used to get this cardboard.
- 13:35Carmen Lezeth: I was talking to billy about this.
- 13:36Carmen Lezeth: Like we, we would take out this cardboard box and cut it up and put it on the street and then we would all like jam and fight with each other, but dancing wise.
- 13:44Cynthia Ruiz: I know it sounds like a movie, but because it was fun and I was a sucky break dancer but I wasn't gonna let no one show me up it was our own like version of the movie break it, break, dance or breaking that was before, that's after, so it's more like flash dance fame.
- 14:01Carmen Lezeth: See, you're much younger.
- 14:02Cynthia Ruiz: You're much younger than me let's not share that with everyone.
- 14:04Carmen Lezeth: We're the same age.
- 14:05Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, yeah, whatever movie you're just saying, chris Novak just said no, I'm saying you will be old if you're fortunate.
- 14:12Carmen Lezeth: Oh, you will become old if you're lucky.
- 14:15Carmen Lezeth: Oh, absolutely, my mom's actually 49.
- 14:17Andrea: Trust me, I'm just saying that's my get off my lawn complaint.
- 14:21Andrea: What's your complaint?
- 14:22Andrea: I missed it About the websites and the you know.
- 14:28Carmen Lezeth: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, but do you?
- 14:32Andrea: guys have like I would love to have that kind of joy.
- 14:33Carmen Lezeth: Now, how old were you during that time?
- 14:34Carmen Lezeth: I was like 13 to 17, maybe Cynthia's thinking, I think.
- 14:41Carmen Lezeth: So I was like because that's when I was hanging out on Forbes and going to rehearsals and then practicing on Rosemary, so it was after my mom died and yeah, we would just hang out on the street.
- 14:55Carmen Lezeth: We were like I guess other people would see us as hoodlums or something, but it was like this is the thing people don't understand is like like what Cause?
- 15:03Carmen Lezeth: People would talk about us badly because everybody would be dressed up, everybody would look all cute.
- 15:08Carmen Lezeth: You know you didn't just come after work and hang out.
- 15:10Carmen Lezeth: You know, you got dressed up.
- 15:13Carmen Lezeth: You never know who you're going to see.
- 15:15Carmen Lezeth: You know, yeah, and it was like you would just hang out in the street and all the guys would come up with their cars and souped up and the music.
- 15:21Carmen Lezeth: And it was like old school Soul, sonic 4, grandmaster, flash, like just old school music.
- 15:28Carmen Lezeth: Sugar Hill Gang Like I remember all that.
- 15:31Carmen Lezeth: Like just, yeah, oh, what happened to my life?
- 15:38Carmen Lezeth: Actually, this is a horrible show, I got to go, but do you guys have a time in your life that you just revere like that?
- 15:49Cynthia Ruiz: I would say probably between 17 and 19.
- 15:52Cynthia Ruiz: Like probably, like right before I met Juan, but I was already out of high school.
- 15:56Cynthia Ruiz: Like that time I was just like so carefree, didn't have any bills, didn't have no kids, no grand grandkids, nothing to worry about, just party and just have fun with my friends, and that was the best partied.
- 16:11Cynthia Ruiz: I don't remember you when you say party you mean I used to go to, even though it was like the 18 plus type clubs, but from Thursday to Sunday I would be every night at the club.
- 16:23Carmen Lezeth: Wait, did.
- 16:23Carmen Lezeth: Did you go to spinoffs with us?
- 16:25Carmen Lezeth: Do you remember spinoffs?
- 16:26Carmen Lezeth: It was a roller skating place.
- 16:28Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, we thought we were so cool.
- 16:31Carmen Lezeth: We were, though we were fucking cool.
- 16:33Carmen Lezeth: There was a place called spinoffs.
- 16:36Carmen Lezeth: So the club, which was called Boston or Lansdowne Street, which is right near Fenway, was like the club that everybody would go to, like the adults and everything.
- 16:46Carmen Lezeth: We would always sneak in and we would jam there, but around the corner was like 18 and up or sometimes, and it was roller skating, but with music and a disco ball.
- 16:53Carmen Lezeth: It was awesome.
- 16:54Carmen Lezeth: People would go off on and people could really like jam on them skates.
- 16:59Carmen Lezeth: It's a nostalgic thing here in LA right now.
- 17:02Cynthia Ruiz: So, Cynthia, did you go there?
- 17:05Cynthia Ruiz: I never went to spinoffs.
- 17:07Cynthia Ruiz: No, Any go to spinoffs.
- 17:10Carmen Lezeth: Chris said, chris Novak said was a great time when we were not mature enough and had no responsibility.
- 17:15Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I love that too, but I don't ever remember thinking that I had no responsibility, like I always remember being like dramatic about something.
- 17:22Carmen Lezeth: No, nothing changed All right, I walked so head into that.
- 17:32Andrea: As it came out of my mouth.
- 17:33Andrea: That was exciting.
- 17:34Andrea: Somebody had to do it.
- 17:36Carmen Lezeth: Thank you, andrea, and it was nice to have you on tonight.
- 17:40Cynthia Ruiz: Thank you Bye.
- 17:40Carmen Lezeth: Bye Rick.
- 17:45Cynthia Ruiz: Rick, what about you?
- 17:49Rick Costa: I guess, if I had to pick a time period, maybe 20s, I guess because you know you're independent, you know you're still youthful, you have energy, you know then, once you start hitting, 30, I have all of those things, but I hear you so in your 20s.
- 18:07Carmen Lezeth: I love how, cynthia, I didn't let that go by, I recorded it.
- 18:10Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 18:10Carmen Lezeth: And you were like before one.
- 18:12Carmen Lezeth: That's all I heard christia said no, of course I went, so tied down.
- 18:20Carmen Lezeth: Oh wait, her, her thing went out.
- 18:24Carmen Lezeth: Did you guys hear her?
- 18:26Tony D.: Whose what.
- 18:26Cynthia Ruiz: Cynthia said something I didn't hear that I said I didn't feel so tied down then.
- 18:32Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, your video's going in and out, not in and out, but you're delayed again.
- 18:35Rick Costa: It's like that song I heard the other day.
- 18:36Rick Costa: I just want to party all the time.
- 18:39Rick Costa: Oh my God, that was.
- 18:40Carmen Lezeth: Rick James.
- 18:43Rick Costa: Didn't you say him Eddie?
- 18:44Carmen Lezeth: Murphy, eddie Murphy, even worse.
- 18:46Carmen Lezeth: I love Eddie Murphy, but even that was a bad song.
- 18:49Andrea: I love that song.
- 18:50Andrea: I would still listen to that song, of course you would.
- 18:54Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, eddie Murphy, though, was the jam back then, not the song, but when he did, because I remember we all watched Raw.
- 19:01Carmen Lezeth: Do you remember that?
- 19:02Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, there's so many skits that were so relevant to all of us.
- 19:06Carmen Lezeth: Like, I remember the ice cream.
- 19:07Carmen Lezeth: Remember I got some ice cream.
- 19:11Carmen Lezeth: Do you want a lick?
- 19:12Carmen Lezeth: No, whatever.
- 19:16Carmen Lezeth: I remember that one, and then the other one that really hit me hard was when he did, because this was true.
- 19:22Carmen Lezeth: I don't remember a lot about my mother, but there are moments I remember cynthia's gonna get this too.
- 19:30Carmen Lezeth: Remember when you would cry and you'd be like, and then your mother would be like go ahead, cry some more, cry some more.
- 19:33Carmen Lezeth: Remember he does that whole one with what his mother's like gonna throw the shoe or whatever, and it's so funny.
- 19:37Carmen Lezeth: I'm not a comedian, but he's so funny.
- 19:41Rick Costa: why is tony saying Because of the song I just sang probably.
- 19:44Cynthia Ruiz: You know, what's so funny is that I saw a TikTok the other day and it was talking about people in their 40s and how now we listen to all the oldies as if it just came out like it's brand new.
- 19:56Cynthia Ruiz: We'll blast it in our cars and stuff like that.
- 19:59Carmen Lezeth: But they're not oldies.
- 19:59Carmen Lezeth: I guess they are oldies.
- 20:01Andrea: They are oldies girl.
- 20:02Andrea: Yeah, they are.
- 20:03Andrea: They're not oldies like our parents, though.
- 20:09Carmen Lezeth: Okay, here's my thing, though.
- 20:09Carmen Lezeth: Why is it when gen z listens to our music, it's cool, but if we listen to our music, it's it's old music.
- 20:17Carmen Lezeth: Have you figured that out yet?
- 20:18Rick Costa: like, if they discover something, it's cool, but if it's our music, I'm just saying yeah, I've seen a lot of youtube reaction videos where these it's young, younger people and they're like listening for the first time.
- 20:29Rick Costa: The bgs are like do you hear that harmony?
- 20:31Carmen Lezeth: and I'm like that's so old like, with no synthesizer, with no, yeah, come on andrea.
- 20:38Andrea: What did you say?
- 20:39Carmen Lezeth: I'm sorry I said been hearing that harmony for 40 years kids I think it's weird, because a lot of singers today I'm not saying all of them they really use the synthesizer.
- 20:49Carmen Lezeth: I can fucking sing beautifully with that.
- 20:52Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 20:54Andrea: Autotune yeah.
- 20:55Carmen Lezeth: Autotune.
- 20:55Carmen Lezeth: Is that what it is?
- 20:56Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, the autotune crap.
- 20:57Carmen Lezeth: I can't stand it, and you can hear it so easily every time someone uses it.
- 21:00Carmen Lezeth: But I'm not a singer.
- 21:02Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying we grew up with people actually singing on stage for real.
- 21:08Carmen Lezeth: And I think that's why Taylor Swift is good you know what I mean and that's why Beyonce is good, cause they actually can sing.
- 21:13Carmen Lezeth: They are actually talented people.
- 21:16Cynthia Ruiz: She was actually doing a concert and she actually forgot the lyrics to one of her song and she's like wait, let's start over.
- 21:21Carmen Lezeth: She goes at least I'm not lip syncing- there was one thing where she what's the song that actually made her a big deal?
- 21:26Carmen Lezeth: There's that.
- 21:27Carmen Lezeth: You remember that one song.
- 21:28Carmen Lezeth: I remember the video.
- 21:28Carmen Lezeth: She's sitting like at the piano in an apartment, whatever, but every time she goes to sing that song she gets really emotional or something.
- 21:34Carmen Lezeth: Have you seen those TikToks?
- 21:40Carmen Lezeth: And then the audience sang it to her instead, because life it's a good one yeah, this gets really emotional who are we talking about?
- 21:46Carmen Lezeth: I missed adele, oh yeah, so it's the song.
- 21:49Carmen Lezeth: We all know the song because it's the song that made her.
- 21:52Carmen Lezeth: We all rolling in the deep.
- 21:53Carmen Lezeth: No, I don't know.
- 21:55Carmen Lezeth: Rolling in the deep, was that the song?
- 21:56Carmen Lezeth: I don't know what her first song was.
- 22:00Cynthia Ruiz: It might have been Chasing Pavements.
- 22:02Carmen Lezeth: I don't know, I'd have to hear it.
- 22:03Carmen Lezeth: I don't know every Adele song.
- 22:05Carmen Lezeth: I love Adele, but I don't.
- 22:06Carmen Lezeth: I love Sting too.
- 22:09Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 22:09Carmen Lezeth: I do know every Sting song Because, again, that's my generation.
- 22:14Carmen Lezeth: Is Adele our generation?
- 22:19Andrea: No, she's like millennials yeah.
- 22:22Carmen Lezeth: Yeah.
- 22:23Andrea: Whatever?
- 22:25Rick Costa: Oh, I sent you a funny video.
- 22:26Carmen Lezeth: I think I sent you, carmen, no, you didn't because you and Mario stopped sending me videos.
- 22:32Rick Costa: I'm very selective when I send you because I know whatever, but you responded to it.
- 22:36Rick Costa: It was Jamie Foxx and that was a good video.
- 22:39Carmen Lezeth: Jamie Foxx is one of the most talented people on the planet, and he is so under.
- 22:42Carmen Lezeth: Bye Darcy, bye Darcy.
- 22:44Carmen Lezeth: Thank you for stopping by.
- 22:46Carmen Lezeth: Bye.
- 22:48Rick Costa: He made the Brady Bunch song sound amazing.
- 22:50Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, jamie Foxx is amazing.
- 22:52Carmen Lezeth: No, the thing about video clips.
- 22:54Carmen Lezeth: I'm just kidding.
- 22:55Carmen Lezeth: I had to tell Mario too.
- 22:56Carmen Lezeth: I appreciate it.
- 22:57Carmen Lezeth: But you guys send them to me all the time, so don appreciate it.
- 23:05Carmen Lezeth: But you guys send them to me all the time, so don't other people.
- 23:07Carmen Lezeth: And then, on top of it, you're sending them to me at work.
- 23:08Carmen Lezeth: So I go to look and I'm like, oh my god, it's a video.
- 23:09Carmen Lezeth: It's not like a message, it's like I know.
- 23:10Rick Costa: I mean, it's okay for me to send you guys videos, but it's not okay.
- 23:11Rick Costa: Okay, that's how that works.
- 23:13Carmen Lezeth: That's what I'm saying.
- 23:14Carmen Lezeth: I don't send them on instagram, I only send them on tiktok, because I know you guys aren't on t.
- 23:18Carmen Lezeth: You're on TikTok but you don't get the notifications.
- 23:22Carmen Lezeth: But you and I communicate on Instagram.
- 23:24Carmen Lezeth: So I always think when you send me something, you're sending me a message, but it's.
- 23:28Carmen Lezeth: You see the difference?
- 23:29Carmen Lezeth: Okay, yeah, these are the rules of my life and I don't know why you think I'm high maintenance.
- 23:35Rick Costa: I'll find it on TikTok and send it that way.
- 23:37Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, if you send it ticket, I can look at it whenever I want.
- 23:38Carmen Lezeth: I don't have to, I don't get, but I keep thinking you're sending me a message, because that's how you and I communicate, right, right, okay, are there things you could do as a teenager that you can't do now?
- 23:48Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I'll tell you.
- 23:49Carmen Lezeth: I'm just going to go through this right now for me.
- 23:50Carmen Lezeth: I'm just going to tell you I can't do a split anymore.
- 23:57Carmen Lezeth: I'm very mad about it.
- 23:57Carmen Lezeth: Not as flexible as I used to be.
- 24:00Carmen Lezeth: I feel like I oh, andrea, because you and I haven't spoken because you're so busy.
- 24:04Carmen Lezeth: I went and saw the hand surgeon again yesterday, so my hand is still not.
- 24:08Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if I told people, but I've been having major issues with this hand.
- 24:11Carmen Lezeth: Did I mention that?
- 24:13Carmen Lezeth: Um, what happened?
- 24:14Carmen Lezeth: I don't think so okay for the podcast viewers.
- 24:17Carmen Lezeth: Really, I didn't tell people, andrea, did I tell you I?
- 24:21Andrea: don't know what you're gonna go into.
- 24:23Andrea: So I don't know.
- 24:24Andrea: I knew I guess I did it so I hit my hand, okay.
- 24:27Carmen Lezeth: So I was walking and I remember exactly what it was around thanksgiving and I was walking and I hit the corner, the corner desk.
- 24:36Carmen Lezeth: I hit with the back of my hand, like this area right here and I don't know people always stub their toe or it was that kind of thing Like it happened.
- 24:45Carmen Lezeth: I didn't think anything of it and I moved on.
- 24:47Carmen Lezeth: It was painful as all hell and I moved on.
- 24:49Carmen Lezeth: I thought nothing of it.
- 24:50Carmen Lezeth: So that was last November.
- 24:52Carmen Lezeth: In January I was like what is going on with my hand?
- 24:55Carmen Lezeth: Like it just kept.
- 24:56Carmen Lezeth: I kept having so much pain.
- 24:57Carmen Lezeth: I was wearing a splint, I was wearing a and I forgot that I had hurt my hand.
- 25:01Carmen Lezeth: So I met with this oh, andrea, I know, I told you because it's in Dr Gearhart's office.
- 25:11Andrea: Yes, I didn't know if this was beyond that but, yes, we love my hip surgeon.
- 25:14Carmen Lezeth: It is the stage right next door, so I'm always like I have to get there a little early, hang out a little bit.
- 25:19Carmen Lezeth: Haven't seen him once, but he is fine.
- 25:21Carmen Lezeth: Anyways, we've been trying to deal with it and it's still bad.
- 25:24Carmen Lezeth: So now I have to go get another MRI and we don't know what it is, cause it should have healed by now.
- 25:28Carmen Lezeth: But all these bones in here, like when we talk, we use our hands.
- 25:32Carmen Lezeth: We use our hands all the time and even though I'm not a lefty, we still use it all the time, all the time.
- 25:38Carmen Lezeth: So I've been wearing a splint at night, wrapping it.
- 25:40Carmen Lezeth: But he today was like, yeah, no, because it's really.
- 25:45Carmen Lezeth: You guys can't really see it, but it's really.
- 25:47Carmen Lezeth: I have a huge bump here.
- 25:47Carmen Lezeth: That's see it.
- 25:47Carmen Lezeth: There's a huge bump there that's never there.
- 25:48Carmen Lezeth: And then this is just all really painful and it's really swollen here which you can't tell.
- 25:52Carmen Lezeth: Oh, my God, my hands are like man hands.
- 25:54Carmen Lezeth: Look at that.
- 25:54Carmen Lezeth: I have a man hand, I do.
- 25:59Carmen Lezeth: Let's compare.
- 26:00Carmen Lezeth: Wait, let's compare.
- 26:02Carmen Lezeth: Look at how manly my hands are.
- 26:03Carmen Lezeth: Okay, do that again.
- 26:04Carmen Lezeth: You have girly hands.
- 26:07Rick Costa: Oh, thanks, charlie, get my back.
- 26:11Rick Costa: Charlie, help me out.
- 26:14Carmen Lezeth: Charlie, you just had an MRI for your back.
- 26:16Carmen Lezeth: Oh dude, so wrong.
- 26:18Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I'm not going to complain, it's just my hand.
- 26:20Carmen Lezeth: It's fine, it's just my head.
- 26:22Carmen Lezeth: Cut it off at this point.
- 26:23Carmen Lezeth: But anyways, I just feel as you get older and this was getting me really sad, was you get all the wisdom Like?
- 26:31Carmen Lezeth: I would never go back to any other time in my life because I want to see how this motherfucking ends.
- 26:36Carmen Lezeth: That's how I look at the journey of my life.
- 26:37Carmen Lezeth: I'm like I have invested, I've done too much.
- 26:40Carmen Lezeth: I have put in my heart and soul and being the best person I can be and do the best I can to get out of the crap I was in, and I just want to see how it ends.
- 26:48Carmen Lezeth: However, I didn't realize that as you get older I know people used to tell us this all the time, but it does start to break down a bit.
- 27:04Andrea: Like I'm complaining about my motherfucking hand not healing.
- 27:05Andrea: That was my first thought when I saw that question today.
- 27:06Andrea: What could you do when you were a teenager that can't do now?
- 27:08Andrea: In my head I was like wake up without pain yeah, charlie just said he had to be put out out of bed charlie, you had to be put out.
- 27:18Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, you know what, though?
- 27:19Carmen Lezeth: The mri is a hard thing.
- 27:20Carmen Lezeth: It's a hard thing.
- 27:21Carmen Lezeth: I had an mri for hip and I had to go in all the way and I was like it's like you're in a tomb.
- 27:27Carmen Lezeth: But they didn't have to put me out, though, yeah, because I kept wondering why they couldn't put me in the other way.
- 27:34Carmen Lezeth: But you have to go in, yeah, okay, I'm hoping I don't have to do anything, because the other one wasn't.
- 27:41Carmen Lezeth: They did an ultrasound before.
- 27:43Carmen Lezeth: That was easy, and then they did an x-ray.
- 27:47Rick Costa: Okay, wow, In the sarcophagus 45 minutes.
- 27:49Carmen Lezeth: In the sarcophagus.
- 27:50Carmen Lezeth: An MRI takes a long time and it has all that noise.
- 27:59Carmen Lezeth: They're like just relax, fuck you.
- 28:01Carmen Lezeth: It's like pop'm sorry, charlie, but I hope they figure out what's going on and I hope you don't need surgery though.
- 28:07Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, Although every person I know who's had back surgery like Juan is fine.
- 28:11Carmen Lezeth: Juan had back surgery, right, yeah, it's going to be a year.
- 28:18Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, wow, that went by fast and I accomplished nothing.
- 28:25Carmen Lezeth: Really, what have I done in a year?
- 28:26Carmen Lezeth: What?
- 28:27Rick Costa: I had metal rods in my back.
- 28:28Rick Costa: I had back surgery when I was 15.
- 28:30Carmen Lezeth: Oh yeah, when you were 15.
- 28:31Carmen Lezeth: How are you feeling now, rick?
- 28:33Rick Costa: Feeling old Really Does it bother you.
- 28:36Rick Costa: This knee still hasn't healed.
- 28:37Rick Costa: I'm like good lord, why is this taking so long?
- 28:40Carmen Lezeth: Are we talking about the wasp incident now?
- 28:42Carmen Lezeth: Yes, drea doesn't know what happened Do you want me to do the fast version, if you?
- 28:49Rick Costa: want to go ahead.
- 28:51Carmen Lezeth: So we're just driving around.
- 28:52Rick Costa: Charlie just said something.
- 28:53Carmen Lezeth: Oh, charlie just said I'm not letting them dig around in my back.
- 28:56Carmen Lezeth: Okay, let's just see what the MRI says, and then we will go from there, because if you're in this much pain that you need this, and then I'm going to put you in touch with Juan, because he just had the same thing.
- 29:07Carmen Lezeth: Look at me diagnosing Charlie from a fucking trap.
- 29:10Carmen Lezeth: Let me just tell you it's going to be fine, baby.
- 29:12Carmen Lezeth: Whatever you want to do, Dr Carmen said.
- 29:15Carmen Lezeth: Dr Carmen said it's going to be fine baby, so it's going gonna be okay uh wait, what was I saying?
- 29:28Cynthia Ruiz: I was yelling at andrea.
- 29:29Carmen Lezeth: You're gonna tell the short version of the wasp, and so, oh, oh fuck, I should not have sent him a link.
- 29:34Tony D.: Hey, tony, how you doing, how you doing, andrea, how you doing, cynthia, how you doing?
- 29:39Carmen Lezeth: you know I didn't have to.
- 29:40Carmen Lezeth: I saw you come up.
- 29:41Carmen Lezeth: I could have just left it, but I'm a kind person, a kind, okay, quick wasp story.
- 29:46Carmen Lezeth: Rick was in his car with his mother taking her somewhere.
- 29:48Carmen Lezeth: He went to get.
- 29:50Carmen Lezeth: Oh, a wasp or a bug is flying around.
- 29:52Carmen Lezeth: He goes to get out of the car?
- 29:53Cynthia Ruiz: no, you found out later I was surrounded by wasps later there was a wasp.
- 29:58Rick Costa: I was surrounded by wasps.
- 30:01Carmen Lezeth: How did you know, later there was a nest.
- 30:03Carmen Lezeth: If you were surrounded by that many, how did you figure it out?
- 30:07Rick Costa: There was like a can of soda in there and I'm like maybe the smell attracted them and they were in there.
- 30:11Rick Costa: I don't know.
- 30:11Rick Costa: I didn't know where they came from.
- 30:12Rick Costa: But then I saw they had put it inside between the two doors on my side and I I saw this little thing.
- 30:17Rick Costa: I was like holy crap, it's a nest.
- 30:20Carmen Lezeth: But you found that out later.
- 30:21Carmen Lezeth: Okay, go ahead.
- 30:23Andrea: Go ahead.
- 30:23Andrea: You're in the car.
- 30:24Andrea: You're driving with your mother.
- 30:26Rick Costa: No, I wasn't even driving yet.
- 30:27Andrea: Oh, you were just sitting there.
- 30:29Rick Costa: I was getting ready to put the key in the ignition and all of a sudden, and there are how many wasps Roughly?
- 30:34Rick Costa: There had to be at least 10.
- 30:37Carmen Lezeth: Okay, that took.
- 30:37Carmen Lezeth: Oh my god, how did you do that In a small, enclosed place?
- 30:41Cynthia Ruiz: Oh my god.
- 30:41Cynthia Ruiz: He jumped out of the car.
- 30:42Cynthia Ruiz: It was raining and he slipped and fell on his knee.
- 30:47Rick Costa: It wasn't even on my knee.
- 30:48Andrea: I twisted it, cynthia's like, let me end this now.
- 30:51Rick Costa: Rip off the band-aid.
- 30:52Carmen Lezeth: Because it's in another episode.
- 30:54Carmen Lezeth: Like twice we talked about it twice and he's been walking around with a cane and then again you got in the car and that's when you found the nest.
- 31:01Carmen Lezeth: It wasn't like that day you found the nest, it was like a week later it was the second time I got the car.
- 31:05Andrea: Yeah, that's when I realized do you not use your car very often?
- 31:08Rick Costa: I'm not really, I really don't okay, here's what we've learned people.
- 31:14Carmen Lezeth: Very important if there's more than one bug flying around in your car and in closed space, there's probably a nest somewhere.
- 31:23Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, usually this.
- 31:25Carmen Lezeth: I thought there was just one and you freaked out and you jumped out the car and you slipped and fell.
- 31:29Carmen Lezeth: That sound better.
- 31:30Rick Costa: Also, the freaked out part was because my mom, when I was a kid, said you're allergic.
- 31:33Rick Costa: So I was like I ain't trying to die from a bug now.
- 31:35Rick Costa: What the heck.
- 31:37Carmen Lezeth: How did you not know you were?
- 31:39Carmen Lezeth: Oh you, oh you.
- 31:39Rick Costa: But I'm here.
- 31:40Rick Costa: No, I'm not allergic now.
- 31:42Carmen Lezeth: No, but allergic.
- 31:42Carmen Lezeth: In what way?
- 31:44Rick Costa: Because I got stung by something and we went to the hospital and she said the doctor said I was allergic and I'm like I never got an EpiPen or nothing, but it's still stuck in my head because she said I'm allergic to fear.
- 31:53Andrea: You fell down, but did you also get stung?
- 31:56Rick Costa: I did.
- 31:56Andrea: Okay.
- 31:59Carmen Lezeth: Andrea wants to detail.
- 32:00Carmen Lezeth: Andrea wants to detail.
- 32:01Carmen Lezeth: I should have let you just tell the story again.
- 32:05Andrea: I appreciate.
- 32:06Rick Costa: Cynthia jumping in and taking that mess and move on.
- 32:09Carmen Lezeth: Okay, that's so funny.
- 32:11Rick Costa: Because that's part of the aging thing.
- 32:13Rick Costa: I think if I was younger I would have been fine by now, but it's taking forever for this knee to heal.
- 32:16Rick Costa: Good lord.
- 32:18Cynthia Ruiz: And you probably wouldn't have fallen, maybe not?
- 32:21Carmen Lezeth: You probably would have investigated and been like, oh my God, I think there's a nest.
- 32:26Tony D.: I don't need Cynthia Kosan on you being old.
- 32:31Carmen Lezeth: I'm just messing with you.
- 32:32Carmen Lezeth: Come on, that was funny.
- 32:33Carmen Lezeth: I'm sorry I'm hurting.
- 32:34Carmen Lezeth: Let me apologize.
- 32:35Rick Costa: No, you're fine.
- 32:36Carmen Lezeth: I am so sorry.
- 32:38Rick Costa: I'm used to the abuse.
- 32:40Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, the sorry, I'm used to the abuse.
- 32:43Carmen Lezeth: Oh my god, the abuse.
- 32:44Carmen Lezeth: Wow, okay, that's not dramatic.
- 32:46Carmen Lezeth: So yeah, I guess healing is a thing.
- 32:49Carmen Lezeth: I guess it does take it takes longer, yeah does it, or are we just getting hurt more?
- 32:55Cynthia Ruiz: no it does, it does it does it oh yeah, we're getting hurt faster and it's taking longer to heal is that it okay.
- 33:05Carmen Lezeth: I've just never.
- 33:06Carmen Lezeth: I have never been to the doctors this many times in a year, just never.
- 33:12Carmen Lezeth: Uh, and like, when I think about the hip surgery, that was one specific thing it felt like major whatever.
- 33:17Carmen Lezeth: And I see my doctors, maybe once a year, maybe because I go for my hand thing once a year, my health fitness thing, and then that's it.
- 33:24Carmen Lezeth: But no, like I'm constantly visiting.
- 33:27Carmen Lezeth: Hey, what's up you?
- 33:30Carmen Lezeth: open the door carmen's back, because then I had this thyroid thing and that was out of nowhere and yeah.
- 33:36Carmen Lezeth: So I'm sad but it's okay.
- 33:38Carmen Lezeth: We're getting older.
- 33:38Carmen Lezeth: But do you feel wiser and smarter?
- 33:40Carmen Lezeth: Do you feel like there's a balance?
- 33:49Tony D.: I think we all do.
- 33:49Tony D.: I would say oh, tony said, no, you're not wiser, no, I don't feel the balance.
- 33:52Tony D.: I am wiser, but the recovery time taken I don't feel a balance off of that when I have an illness, I don't?
- 33:59Carmen Lezeth: Do you have a time in your life that?
- 34:00Tony D.: you wish you could go back to.
- 34:01Tony D.: Yeah, I remember you asked this question.
- 34:02Tony D.: I saw it already in the email.
- 34:03Tony D.: You actually had asked me this question before and I actually was going to know it because a lot of decisions that I made got me where I am now.
- 34:08Tony D.: Had I done a couple of the mistakes I avoided younger, I probably would have told you yeah, some things I probably didn't want to do.
- 34:14Tony D.: I didn't want to go to this fight.
- 34:22Rick Costa: I probably train Probably was trying to help.
- 34:23Rick Costa: Wait, wait, wait Race a train, I don't know.
- 34:24Rick Costa: Yeah, I raced a train Was a wasp chasing you.
- 34:29Tony D.: You're not going to believe me.
- 34:30Tony D.: You're not going to believe me on this, but one time I was young and crazy and I saw a train.
- 34:33Tony D.: There was an intersection.
- 34:34Tony D.: I figured I was going to beat the train.
- 34:36Tony D.: So I actually tried to beat it at the intersection.
- 34:37Tony D.: I did win.
- 34:38Tony D.: But I'm not going to do that anymore In a car or running In a car.
- 34:42Rick Costa: Do I look like Superman?
- 34:47Tony D.: I was going to say I was in a car.
- 34:49Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, okay, so I lived on the street called Rosemary and in the back in the past there was all these old trains, all the old Amtrak train.
- 34:56Carmen Lezeth: There were rails and we would wait for the trains to come and then cross.
- 35:00Carmen Lezeth: It was so stupid, it there were rails and we would wait for the trains to come and then cross like it.
- 35:04Tony D.: It was so stupid it was so stupid, but we would do that all the time.
- 35:06Tony D.: The train was going the same direction I was.
- 35:08Tony D.: I'm like I'm gonna beat this, I will be to the intersection and I actually matched the speed, although 45.
- 35:12Tony D.: I said, okay, I can do 55 or 60, and I'm on the back road by myself.
- 35:15Tony D.: Actually, I wasn't by myself.
- 35:16Tony D.: I was trying to press this woman.
- 35:17Tony D.: I scared the hell of her.
- 35:18Tony D.: She don't talk to me no more.
- 35:21Rick Costa: Shocking, shocking.
- 35:27Carmen Lezeth: We weren't in a car, we were just crossing the track.
- 35:28Carmen Lezeth: It was stupid.
- 35:28Carmen Lezeth: You know what I'm talking about.
- 35:30Carmen Lezeth: Cynthia, I think the orange line goes back there now.
- 35:32Carmen Lezeth: Right, those used to be the Amtrak trains.
- 35:35Carmen Lezeth: We would go up there in the snow.
- 35:40Cynthia Ruiz: I think we all are missing stamina in order to one there and we would in the snow.
- 35:42Cynthia Ruiz: And that's another thing I think we all are missing is probably stamina in order to like one speed and two to stay awake longer.
- 35:50Carmen Lezeth: Oh, stamina, I don't have any, I can't.
- 35:54Carmen Lezeth: I went today.
- 35:55Carmen Lezeth: This morning I went out for a run, a three mile run.
- 35:58Carmen Lezeth: I walked it.
- 35:59Carmen Lezeth: But I don't because I didn't run, I used to run.
- 36:01Cynthia Ruiz: I walked it but I don't.
- 36:02Carmen Lezeth: Because I didn't run.
- 36:03Carmen Lezeth: I used to.
- 36:03Carmen Lezeth: Okay, first of all, I've done three marathons, don't mess with me, I'm just trying to get back on track.
- 36:07Carmen Lezeth: But it was like I didn't run, I didn't even jog.
- 36:10Carmen Lezeth: It was like I did the walk Speed walking.
- 36:13Cynthia Ruiz: You know, speed walking is an Olympic sport now it wasn't break dancing.
- 36:22Carmen Lezeth: I know, yeah, but speed walking is hard, Listen.
- 36:24Tony D.: I did my three marathons and there were people who walked, who went faster than me, hey Ted.
- 36:26Carmen Lezeth: Hicks.
- 36:26Carmen Lezeth: Hey, what's going on?
- 36:26Carmen Lezeth: Hey, your hands are great.
- 36:28Andrea: Ted.
- 36:28Carmen Lezeth: I sent you an invite.
- 36:29Carmen Lezeth: If you want to stop by quick and say hi before your show.
- 36:32Cynthia Ruiz: I sent it to you in your email that you never answer.
- 36:34Carmen Lezeth: Huh, I feel I wouldn't trade anything.
- 36:38Carmen Lezeth: I do want to get back to running.
- 36:40Carmen Lezeth: I hate not being able to run and I've tried everything.
- 36:43Carmen Lezeth: I have a treadmill, I have a bike.
- 36:45Carmen Lezeth: I've tried all these things.
- 36:46Carmen Lezeth: I just want to run.
- 36:48Carmen Lezeth: What did the doctor say you mean the love of my life, Dr Gearhart.
- 36:53Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, Dr Gearhart.
- 36:54Carmen Lezeth: Okay, let's just be honest, I'm not going to run.
- 36:58Carmen Lezeth: Okay, he said no running, but he doesn't know me, Like it doesn't.
- 37:03Carmen Lezeth: Like you know what I mean.
- 37:04Carmen Lezeth: He doesn't understand.
- 37:05Carmen Lezeth: It's not.
- 37:06Carmen Lezeth: I'm not running a marathon, I'm just saying to exercise.
- 37:10Carmen Lezeth: What makes me, what gives me joy, is either dancing a lot, which is cool I can do that but I need a studio and stuff.
- 37:16Carmen Lezeth: I need something different than my little apartment.
- 37:19Carmen Lezeth: But running was the other thing that gave me joy and I like feeling that sweatiness when you're done and I like feeling like your legs feel stronger.
- 37:28Carmen Lezeth: And I don't get that from the bike.
- 37:30Carmen Lezeth: I don't get.
- 37:31Carmen Lezeth: I know what you mean it's just running.
- 37:34Tony D.: I agree, riding the bike does not compare to running at all.
- 37:37Carmen Lezeth: I agree with that yeah, so I just want to be able to run five miles.
- 37:41Andrea: Go ahead I didn't know he had said no running.
- 37:44Carmen Lezeth: I didn't know running that like ever.
- 37:46Carmen Lezeth: Um well, so he was like you know you could swim.
- 37:49Carmen Lezeth: I'm like you don't know black women.
- 37:50Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I'm talking about hair.
- 37:51Carmen Lezeth: I'm not black.
- 37:52Carmen Lezeth: Women do swim.
- 37:56Carmen Lezeth: That's not what I mean.
- 37:57Carmen Lezeth: But he was acting like you know.
- 37:59Carmen Lezeth: Go in your neighborhood pool or my pool in my house or something, just go swimming.
- 38:03Carmen Lezeth: I didn't say that to him.
- 38:05Andrea: You should ask him if he has a pool.
- 38:06Andrea: I know right Would your wife mind.
- 38:11Carmen Lezeth: I know, right, he was fucking married.
- 38:13Carmen Lezeth: Okay, Andrea was there, so she knows who he is.
- 38:17Carmen Lezeth: We were both a little stunned Because I didn't know he was that good looking.
- 38:23Carmen Lezeth: I've only seen the pictures.
- 38:25Carmen Lezeth: What, he does not look good in pictures.
- 38:27Carmen Lezeth: You saw the pictures of his wife.
- 38:28Carmen Lezeth: I saw the pictures.
- 38:29Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, it doesn't do him justice, but I had been seeing him as a patient don't get it twisted for like six months.
- 38:36Carmen Lezeth: Right, I had been seeing him for six months regularly during this whole process, because I had been seeing him for six months regularly during the soul process because I had to go physical.
- 38:43Carmen Lezeth: But I'd never seen him because it was during COVID and he was wearing a mask and he always had on that scrubby hat thing or whatever.
- 38:51Carmen Lezeth: So all I saw was his eyes.
- 38:53Carmen Lezeth: So Andrea was with me when I had surgery and afterwards, in the what is it?
- 38:58Carmen Lezeth: In the recovery room, I was a little groggy, but I wasn't.
- 39:02Carmen Lezeth: I wasn't, I wasn't that groggy.
- 39:04Carmen Lezeth: But he walked in and, Andrea, you said to me I think that's your doctor and I was like I wouldn't know who the fuck he is because I've never seen his face.
- 39:11Carmen Lezeth: You asked him to take his mask off and then I asked him to take his.
- 39:15Rick Costa: I know, but I said that to you and then I asked him to take his mask off, did he do it in slow motion?
- 39:23Carmen Lezeth: No, you know what, though?
- 39:25Carmen Lezeth: It must happen to him all the time, because he was adorable about it.
- 39:28Carmen Lezeth: He was like laughing and smiling, yeah, but both Andrea and I were like, oh my God, oh, you were up all in this.
- 39:36Tony D.: I never knew Andrea had cheekbones like that until she just started smiling Because he's only 6'2".
- 39:44Carmen Lezeth: He's fine, he's a good looking man.
- 39:48Carmen Lezeth: Me, I had no idea I would have been so different.
- 39:49Carmen Lezeth: I would have been like, but I was in so much pain I couldn't even try to hustle that about because I was so much limping and shit where does it hurt?
- 40:00Rick Costa: car Carmen, it hurts everywhere.
- 40:02Rick Costa: Just feel around, feel me everywhere.
- 40:09Carmen Lezeth: Actually, I would never be that disrespectful.
- 40:11Carmen Lezeth: I don't mind doing it on my show now, like now, I'd be funny with him.
- 40:14Carmen Lezeth: But he's a good man, it was just so funny.
- 40:15Carmen Lezeth: But yeah, I'm crying, laughing because it is a moment, andrea, that you and I will always share, because we usually don't have the same taste in men, because you could see me doing that, you could totally see me being ridiculous, but André and I usually have to.
- 40:30Carmen Lezeth: But that's how I knew he was fine, because we both were in a little bit of a weird moment and he knew it.
- 40:36Carmen Lezeth: He knew that.
- 40:37Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, okay, let's stop talking about Dr Michael B Gerhard.
- 40:40Carmen Lezeth: You can all go look him up, gerhard, you can all go look him up.
- 40:44Carmen Lezeth: Hey, he's also a great doctor because I have no pain.
- 40:46Carmen Lezeth: He's an amazing doctor.
- 40:48Carmen Lezeth: Great staff Cheated me well.
- 40:49Carmen Lezeth: I recommend him highly if you ever need a sports orthopedic surgeon.
- 40:55Carmen Lezeth: He's amazing In all seriousness and he's fine as fuck.
- 41:00Tony D.: Alma, damn, don't give her no more Alma.
- 41:04Carmen Lezeth: If a doctor tells me no running, I'm okay with that.
- 41:07Carmen Lezeth: He just thinks it'd be better if I did the cycling or other things, because it is hard on your knees and stuff, and since it's not really my thing, it was something I took on after not being able to really dance.
- 41:18Carmen Lezeth: It was like my way of trying to stay fit and now it's just weird.
- 41:22Carmen Lezeth: I think that's another thing about getting old.
- 41:24Carmen Lezeth: It's hard to try again and learn something new.
- 41:28Carmen Lezeth: It's hard to.
- 41:29Carmen Lezeth: I don't want to learn how to cycle and do the bike thing and I hate, I don't like it spinning, I don't like it.
- 41:36Tony D.: Do you miss having the old rhythm that you used to have when you was younger?
- 41:39Tony D.: There's a pace we always have, we want to exercise and there's a rhythm to doing it.
- 41:42Tony D.: Is that what you miss, would be my question.
- 41:44Tony D.: A pace we always have, we want to exercise and there's a rhythm to doing it?
- 41:46Carmen Lezeth: is that what you miss?
- 41:46Carmen Lezeth: Would be my question.
- 41:46Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 41:47Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if that's if it's the rhythm.
- 41:50Carmen Lezeth: I just like running.
- 41:51Carmen Lezeth: You put the headset on and you no.
- 41:54Carmen Lezeth: I don't think it's a rhythm thing, because I listen to music and I run to music or I walk to music, and so I don't know if it's a rhythm thing.
- 42:01Carmen Lezeth: I think it's more about I know he's right, andrea the reason why he said no running is because you don't want to have hip surgery again.
- 42:09Carmen Lezeth: Exactly so he's.
- 42:10Carmen Lezeth: We want this to last another 40 years.
- 42:12Carmen Lezeth: And I remember laughing and being like you think I'm going to die at 80?
- 42:15Carmen Lezeth: What's wrong with you?
- 42:15Carmen Lezeth: I was totally like you know what I'm saying, but he was just saying of surgery again.
- 42:27Carmen Lezeth: So there's other ways to exercise.
- 42:28Carmen Lezeth: I get it.
- 42:28Tony D.: I've been running for so long with the pain, Now I want to run without it.
- 42:30Tony D.: When I first met you, you were talking about this and we were harping on you about your recovery time.
- 42:32Tony D.: You were like I don't need a medical advice, You're not a medical professional.
- 42:34Tony D.: I said okay, fine, he's saying exactly the same thing.
- 42:42Tony D.: I was saying your recovery.
- 42:43Tony D.: You can still do all the exercise and moving all the parts of your body without putting so much pressure on it.
- 42:48Carmen Lezeth: Thank you, tony.
- 42:49Carmen Lezeth: You know what You've changed my mind.
- 42:51Carmen Lezeth: I give up, carmen the mermaid, I'm going to go swimming right after the show.
- 42:58Carmen Lezeth: Go right into the ocean, go right into the cold water in the ocean, right, listen, first of all, when I went to Aruba, I did go in an ocean and I enjoyed it, or whatever, and I know how to swim.
- 43:10Carmen Lezeth: I learned how to swim in JP and I went to camp and so I'm a pretty decent swimmer.
- 43:14Carmen Lezeth: But unless I were to cut off all my hair, I'm just not doing it and that's why I said it's a black thing, right?
- 43:21Carmen Lezeth: It might be vanity but I don't care, I cannot deal with.
- 43:25Carmen Lezeth: I don't want my hair wet every single day.
- 43:27Carmen Lezeth: I'd have to have my hair short and andrea and I know that is an absolute no, no, there's a tiktok video of the golden girls.
- 43:36Carmen Lezeth: What was it, andrea?
- 43:38Carmen Lezeth: It was like the golden girls with.
- 43:39Andrea: It was like the golden girls hairstyles, but like with j-Lo's face and other people who are like the same age in their face, and so you see how much older they look with a short hair.
- 43:50Carmen Lezeth: Right, because they were all the kind they were in their 50s.
- 43:54Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, that's so weird.
- 43:55Carmen Lezeth: The Golden Girls were in their 50s, so there's a TikTok of women in their 50s.
- 44:02Carmen Lezeth: Who was it?
- 44:02Cynthia Ruiz: JLo.
- 44:04Carmen Lezeth: No, it's like J-Lo and what's the other one?
- 44:07Carmen Lezeth: Julia Roberts was one of them and they all have the same hair.
- 44:10Carmen Lezeth: They place the hairdos and you're like, oh my God, they look so old.
- 44:13Carmen Lezeth: And then they did the opposite.
- 44:15Carmen Lezeth: They put the nice new hairdos with longer hair on the golden girls and you see how much younger they look.
- 44:20Carmen Lezeth: And J-Lo and I were like never cutting our hair, never cutting our hair, but I've been thinking about it.
- 44:26Carmen Lezeth: I've been thinking about shaving it all off.
- 44:28Carmen Lezeth: I did it when I first came out.
- 44:29Carmen Lezeth: Why is Cynthia saying no, if I cut my hair, really that would matter.
- 44:35Carmen Lezeth: Yes, I'm so going to do it just because of that.
- 44:39Carmen Lezeth: I know why would it matter.
- 44:41Tony D.: She would look so much more different.
- 44:42Tony D.: I'm used to her having the hair.
- 44:43Tony D.: She would look so much more different.
- 44:44Tony D.: I'm used to her having the hair.
- 44:45Tony D.: I don't even know if I can get used to it.
- 44:46Tony D.: I'll be honest about you.
- 44:46Tony D.: I'll be honest.
- 44:46Tony D.: I wouldn't want to see you cut your hair now.
- 44:51Carmen Lezeth: I wouldn't want to see it.
- 44:52Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God.
- 44:54Andrea: Y'all know, next week I'm coming with a haircut, right, I was like that is not the way to go about this.
- 45:06Carmen Lezeth: When I first moved to LA, I shaved shaved off all my hair.
- 45:07Carmen Lezeth: 30 years ago I moved out here, I didn't know anybody, I quit smoking and I shaved off all my hair and the best thing I did because my hair was so damaged and then it grew in like that because, growing up as a black woman, you straighten your hair, you put rollers, you do all this damage and I'd had enough and I figured you know what, I don't care, I'm cutting it all off.
- 45:18Carmen Lezeth: I was sick of it.
- 45:18Carmen Lezeth: It was the best thing I ever did.
- 45:19Carmen Lezeth: I'm not gonna lie.
- 45:20Carmen Lezeth: I've been thinking about it.
- 45:21Carmen Lezeth: Everyone's like no.
- 45:25Cynthia Ruiz: You know what.
- 45:25Cynthia Ruiz: You would have to deal with it.
- 45:26Cynthia Ruiz: What Speaking of age read Melaniza?
- 45:34Carmen Lezeth: I put the cassette player in the basket on my bike and rode for hours.
- 45:37Rick Costa: What's that?
- 45:37Rick Costa: What's a cassette player, a Walkman, a Sony Walkman?
- 45:41Rick Costa: Sandy Knight.
- 45:42Carmen Lezeth: Sandy Knight.
- 45:43Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, sandy is.
- 45:45Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, sandy is one of my best friends from back in the day.
- 45:49Carmen Lezeth: Girl, how are you Okay?
- 45:51Carmen Lezeth: What she's talking about is I used to try to do the curling because we would go out dancing together.
- 45:56Carmen Lezeth: Sandy and I would go out clubbing at night, okay, and I would try to do my hair and I would curl it and I'd have burns here because it would be so hot and it would slip because you'd have so much oil or grease on it, so I would have marks on.
- 46:09Carmen Lezeth: Thank you, sandy, for bringing that up.
- 46:12Carmen Lezeth: I appreciate it.
- 46:13Carmen Lezeth: Thank you for chiming in on that, but I would have these marks because I would have so many burns from the flat iron.
- 46:20Carmen Lezeth: It's true, oh man, yeah, so I shaved off all my hair when I came here.
- 46:24Carmen Lezeth: And, sandy, thank you for stopping by.
- 46:26Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, I love my people.
- 46:29Carmen Lezeth: My people are so cool.
- 46:30Carmen Lezeth: I love them, so awesome, yeah.
- 46:33Carmen Lezeth: That's what I'm here for.
- 46:34Carmen Lezeth: I love you, girl, thank you, thank you.
- 46:36Carmen Lezeth: Oh, man, we used to go dancing, remember?
- 46:38Carmen Lezeth: Okay, here the thing.
- 46:46Carmen Lezeth: So everybody knows I've always been early, early sleeper.
- 46:47Carmen Lezeth: I go to bed like 9 30, don't fucking call me my phone has been turned off.
- 46:49Carmen Lezeth: It's true.
- 46:49Carmen Lezeth: It's true because I'm up at 4, 35 o'clock.
- 46:51Carmen Lezeth: Sandy and I would go dancing.
- 46:53Carmen Lezeth: I don't know we start getting dressed in like tan.
- 46:57Carmen Lezeth: I'd be so tired 10 o'clock at night or whatever, and then we'd go out, yeah oh man, and then we would come home like we'd go out dancing whatever and hanging out and drinking or whatever we'd go out.
- 47:05Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, oh man, and then we would come home like we'd go out dancing whatever and hanging out and drinking whatever.
- 47:07Carmen Lezeth: We'd come home and her mom always had the best wait you know what she would have the best deli meats.
- 47:17Carmen Lezeth: remember your mom would always have all these deli meats and she's, and we would come back from dancing like all night and we would just make these amazing sandwiches.
- 47:25Carmen Lezeth: That's what I remember about being at your house, sandy.
- 47:28Carmen Lezeth: Sorry, having a moment.
- 47:31Carmen Lezeth: I love when my penis show up out of nowhere.
- 47:33Carmen Lezeth: Thank you, sandy, you just made my motherfucking night.
- 47:36Rick Costa: I'm curious about these stories.
- 47:37Rick Costa: Might have to have a private lounge, Nah she wouldn't.
- 47:41Carmen Lezeth: She wouldn't because she knows she's part of them stories.
- 47:43Carmen Lezeth: Baby girl, she's part of them stories.
- 47:47Carmen Lezeth: I mean we could share them if you want.
- 47:48Carmen Lezeth: But I come up a little bit more innocent than she does.
- 47:51Carmen Lezeth: A little bit, a little bit.
- 47:52Carmen Lezeth: My comment section is going to go oh man, I had some great times with Sandy.
- 47:58Carmen Lezeth: We had a great time.
- 47:59Carmen Lezeth: Oh, that's so cool.
- 48:00Carmen Lezeth: Okay, we're going to be finishing up soon.
- 48:02Carmen Lezeth: Anything else you guys want to add?
- 48:07Tony D.: Oh wait, wait out till the sun came up and then sleep till 2 pm.
- 48:11Carmen Lezeth: That was the best.
- 48:12Carmen Lezeth: It was the best, though it was the best.
- 48:17Carmen Lezeth: Oh see, reminiscing, you guys have stories like that.
- 48:20Carmen Lezeth: Did you guys go out clubbing when you were younger?
- 48:25Andrea: Leslie and I moved to Los Angeles to go out.
- 48:28Andrea: That's literally why we moved here together.
- 48:31Carmen Lezeth: Okay, but in Los Angeles I didn't find 30 years ago there wasn't.
- 48:35Carmen Lezeth: There's not really a big nightlife here in California.
- 48:38Andrea: We were really into the music scene so we had like all of the little clubs out in Hollywood had like different nights, right.
- 48:46Andrea: You'd have whatever goth night and metal night, and then you'd have like free hamburger night and whatever at all the different clubs.
- 48:50Andrea: So it was.
- 48:52Andrea: We were probably out five to seven nights a week the first two months we lived here.
- 48:57Andrea: Okay, that's hardcore.
- 48:59Carmen Lezeth: Is that after, is that during college or is that before college?
- 49:03Andrea: It was like I guess it was college age.
- 49:05Andrea: I was in like community college at the time.
- 49:06Andrea: I was like 22, 23.
- 49:08Andrea: We were just yeah, we were just going for it completely because we used to drive.
- 49:12Andrea: We lived in, I lived in san diego, she lived in orange county.
- 49:15Andrea: We would drive up here, wow, go out, drive back home, go to work and come back wow.
- 49:23Cynthia Ruiz: Wow, see we were like we just gotta move we just gotta go up there.
- 49:26Cynthia Ruiz: I just said stamina, he's right, I did the same thing we hosted a club night and it was from 7 pm till 7 am and I had to be at work at 9 am.
- 49:37Cynthia Ruiz: The next morning I worked the door that whole 12 hours and then went straight to work for an eight hour shift.
- 49:43Andrea: I can barely go to the grocery store in Target now and then I'm like so, sandy, don't be putting my stuff out on.
- 49:55Carmen Lezeth: Here's the thing.
- 49:56Carmen Lezeth: You know who my real friends are Cause they call me Carm, right, the old school people, carmen, I would go.
- 50:04Rick Costa: I'll leave that there.
- 50:05Rick Costa: Wow, sandy, you may be getting some friend requests on Facebook.
