- 0:04Speaker 1: Hey, how you doing.
- 0:05Speaker 2: This is Freddie Rodriguez and I'm Wiman about drama.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Welcome to those amigos here on the Beautiful iHeart platform.
- 0:13Speaker 1: That's right, and today Wilmer, we're going to talk about
- 0:16Speaker 1: quotes we live by, Quotes that inspire us. It could
- 0:20Speaker 1: be from a person, It could be something you read
- 0:23Speaker 1: in the stall in the bathroom, could be I.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Don't want to read that one so inappropriate.
- 0:30Speaker 1: You know, you have a if I may share this,
- 0:33Speaker 1: you have a wonderful neon sign upstairs. And I remember
- 0:38Speaker 1: when I first came to your house, I thought, oh wow,
- 0:40Speaker 1: look at that. I just thought it looked pretty and
- 0:42Speaker 1: it worked really well with the aesthetic of your home.
- 0:46Speaker 1: But then today you took me up there and you
- 0:48Speaker 1: really had me look at it and read it and
- 0:52Speaker 1: really sort of meditate on it. But tell tell everybody
- 0:55Speaker 1: what the sign is and what it says and what
- 0:57Speaker 1: it means.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 0:59Speaker 3: So there's a neon sign that's in my kind of
- 1:02Speaker 3: like my breakfast area, my kitchen area. It's kind of
- 1:06Speaker 3: the area that you know, I kind of filter through
- 1:08Speaker 3: before I go to work in the morning or before
- 1:10Speaker 3: I go to the gym in the morning. And it
- 1:12Speaker 3: reads and it says, if you woke up this morning,
- 1:16Speaker 3: you're already winning. And some of you who have been
- 1:18Speaker 3: listening from the beginning you probably have heard me kind
- 1:21Speaker 3: of softly say it in between conversations and all that
- 1:24Speaker 3: there's a lot of things in my life. The pointed
- 1:27Speaker 3: to stand still, look around, take a deep breath, just
- 1:33Speaker 3: appreciate where you are in this moment. Somebody put it
- 1:36Speaker 3: like this, somebody this morning they didn't take a breath. Yeah,
- 1:41Speaker 3: somebody this morning. Unfortunately it's no longer with us.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Yeah, so as.
- 1:48Speaker 3: You know, so for me waking up in the morning,
- 1:50Speaker 3: it's like it's like a win. Yeah, you know, you
- 1:53Speaker 3: were given another day, you know. So it was my
- 1:56Speaker 3: way of kind of reminding myself to not take for granted,
- 1:58Speaker 3: you know, the day that I've been given, to make
- 2:01Speaker 3: a difference, to work hard, to make memories, to you know,
- 2:05Speaker 3: to live the fullest, you know, and to laugh and
- 2:08Speaker 3: to enjoy as much to you know, to kind of
- 2:11Speaker 3: to really reflect on all those things. So if you
- 2:13Speaker 3: woke up this morning, you're already winning. And then I
- 2:15Speaker 3: added to that, if you woke up this morning, you're
- 2:19Speaker 3: already winning. How much more winning do you want to
- 2:21Speaker 3: do today. So the idea was that like you dug
- 2:24Speaker 3: in and you you you plant your feet and you
- 2:27Speaker 3: and you dig, dig, dig and see you have you know,
- 2:29Speaker 3: how much harder can you work today? How much more
- 2:31Speaker 3: can you reach out to and build community and whatever?
- 2:34Speaker 3: So so that's and and it really changed a lot
- 2:37Speaker 3: for me because it made it forced me to appreciate
- 2:42Speaker 3: the day ahead of me. It also forced me to
- 2:45Speaker 3: kind of appreciate where I was in the moment.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Without having to dwell.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Too much about what tomorrow looks like, or what next
- 2:52Speaker 3: week looks like or in the next two years, even
- 2:54Speaker 3: though we always have these plans.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's really important to not forget that.
- 2:58Speaker 3: If you woke up this morning and you took dig
- 3:00Speaker 3: breath and you've been giving life today, what are you
- 3:03Speaker 3: going to do with the life you were given this morning?
- 3:05Speaker 2: So so that's where it took me.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Why was it so important for you to have it
- 3:11Speaker 1: made in a neon sign?
- 3:12Speaker 3: I never want to forget it. Yeah, I don't want
- 3:15Speaker 3: to forget it. I don't want to take for granted.
- 3:16Speaker 3: I don't want to just wake up in two weeks
- 3:18Speaker 3: went by and I can't even remember what.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Last Tuesday was right.
- 3:23Speaker 3: That's why when we went back to the beginning with
- 3:25Speaker 3: the you know the podcast and we talked.
- 3:27Speaker 2: About my hour a Day.
- 3:29Speaker 3: My hour a day was a way of saying, how
- 3:32Speaker 3: do I remember Tuesday? So if every day feels like
- 3:35Speaker 3: this routine. You wake up in the morning, you go
- 3:37Speaker 3: to work, then you go to lunch, then you you know,
- 3:39Speaker 3: you come home and you watch the one episode of
- 3:41Speaker 3: the one thing, you go to sleep, you do it
- 3:43Speaker 3: all over again. If in twenty four hours you don't
- 3:45Speaker 3: have one one hour for yourself, Yeah, how do you
- 3:49Speaker 3: remember Tuesday? How do you remember Friday? How do you
- 3:51Speaker 3: remember Sunday?
- 3:53Speaker 2: Right? You know, so.
- 3:55Speaker 3: My hour a day, it's like, how do I define
- 3:57Speaker 3: what do I do for myself for that hour?
- 4:00Speaker 2: Do I meditate? Do I work out or go for
- 4:01Speaker 2: a run?
- 4:02Speaker 3: Do I you know, do I read my chapter my
- 4:04Speaker 3: favorite book? Do I do I listen to those Amigos,
- 4:07Speaker 3: my favorite podcast, the best podcast in the universe of podcasting,
- 4:11Speaker 3: and everything that's every released in the universe podcasting agreed,
- 4:16Speaker 3: definitely so much better than most of the podcasting, Like
- 4:19Speaker 3: many actors I've had out there, So it's like, you know,
- 4:22Speaker 3: so so listen to at least two or three or four,
- 4:24Speaker 3: though sometimes one episode is an hour, right, sometimes an.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Episode is two hours because these guys won't stop talking.
- 4:30Speaker 2: But those guys are great. I love them.
- 4:31Speaker 3: They're like, I'm a huge fan, huge freaking fan. So
- 4:34Speaker 3: when you think about that, you know, it's like, what
- 4:36Speaker 3: do you do in that one hour?
- 4:40Speaker 2: What are you doing that one hour?
- 4:41Speaker 1: I hear it shot in the cool speak easy too.
- 4:44Speaker 3: It isn't a really cool speople kind of like this
- 4:46Speaker 3: one maybe different because I don't know. It's like, you know,
- 4:49Speaker 3: I think they color corrected differently like this.
- 4:52Speaker 2: It looks it looks different. But my point is is.
- 4:57Speaker 3: That that's one of the reasons why do't forget that
- 5:02Speaker 3: I was giving the gift of breathing again that when
- 5:05Speaker 3: your eyes open up you look to your left, you
- 5:08Speaker 3: might be able to see your four year old daughter
- 5:09Speaker 3: sleeping in the room with you.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Guys.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Right, you know, you open your eyes, your dog is
- 5:14Speaker 3: at the end of the bed looking at you, waiting
- 5:17Speaker 3: for you to let them out.
- 5:18Speaker 2: You know, like there's little things.
- 5:19Speaker 3: That you wake up and you get to do again,
- 5:22Speaker 3: but there's also opportunities to do something for the first time.
- 5:26Speaker 3: So you know, if you woke up this morning, you're
- 5:29Speaker 3: already winning. How much more winning you want to do?
- 5:30Speaker 1: And it's rooted in gratitude, Yes, it is the foundation
- 5:34Speaker 1: of that of that quote.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Yeah, which also keeps it keeps pushing you to do
- 5:40Speaker 3: the uncomfortable, not the complacent. You know, routines that make
- 5:45Speaker 3: you feel safe.
- 5:47Speaker 2: You know, in order to grow.
- 5:49Speaker 3: You have to push yourself beyond the uncomfortable, right, you
- 5:52Speaker 3: have to kind of deal with the uncomfortable as well.
- 5:54Speaker 2: So you know, if you're.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Already winning, you know you're not gonna gain an l
- 5:59Speaker 3: by and by doing the uncomfort do you do you
- 6:02Speaker 3: think it also makes you go.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Besides that, right, you know, there's sometimes as we as
- 6:09Speaker 1: we talk about gratitude, you know, because it's so easy,
- 6:13Speaker 1: I feel like for us to go, oh man, the
- 6:17Speaker 1: thing I was trying to get off the ground didn't happen,
- 6:20Speaker 1: or like that part I wanted didn't happen, or like,
- 6:23Speaker 1: you know, the thing in the last decade that I've
- 6:26Speaker 1: really been focusing on real heavy is like it's like, wow, man, my.
- 6:31Speaker 2: You know I have this.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I have a house, man, you know, I have food
- 6:35Speaker 1: on the table, Like my kids are good, My kids
- 6:38Speaker 1: are healthy, my bills are paid. My as we talk
- 6:44Speaker 1: about rooted in gratitude, like I've really been focusing on
- 6:48Speaker 1: that lately a lot.
- 6:51Speaker 2: What drives you that? When what what brings you to
- 6:53Speaker 2: that point of gratitude.
- 6:57Speaker 1: It's it's I guess. I guess for me is you know,
- 7:02Speaker 1: seeing seeing how other people don't have it as good
- 7:07Speaker 1: as we do, man, And a lot of time when
- 7:09Speaker 1: I in my prayers, you know, I always try to
- 7:12Speaker 1: pray for people who don't have it as as good
- 7:14Speaker 1: as me, man, and just ask God to kind of
- 7:17Speaker 1: bless them as well. And it makes you grateful for
- 7:22Speaker 1: what you have, man, You know what you have? Would
- 7:27Speaker 1: I prefer to, like, you know, be Tom Cruise.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we all would, right, But like.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I'm grateful for what I have, Man, I'm grateful for
- 7:34Speaker 1: the for the work that I have. I'm grateful that
- 7:37Speaker 1: the income that I've made to pay my bills, or
- 7:39Speaker 1: the car that i have, or the house that I have,
- 7:42Speaker 1: you know, like I'm grateful for what I have, you know,
- 7:46Speaker 1: And so so gratitude has most definitely been at the
- 7:50Speaker 1: root of it all. But when I when I for me,
- 7:54Speaker 1: it's not necessarily like a quote like for me, like
- 7:57Speaker 1: it's more of a Bible verse that that I I
- 8:00Speaker 1: like a lot, and it's uh, it's it's Isaiah, Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 1: I have.
- 8:03Speaker 2: It right here.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I want to just make sure I got it, get
- 8:05Speaker 1: it right. Isaiah sixty twenty two says, when the time
- 8:08Speaker 1: is right, I the Lord will make it happen. And
- 8:11Speaker 1: and the reason why that resonates with me like every
- 8:14Speaker 1: single day is because I feel like, in our profession,
- 8:17Speaker 1: we're always in this pursuit right right, in the pursuit
- 8:20Speaker 1: of like, like I said, getting something off the ground
- 8:22Speaker 1: or getting this thing or whatever, and I gotta you
- 8:25Speaker 1: gotta sometimes remind yourself that it's not your timing. You know,
- 8:30Speaker 1: it happens when it's supposed to happen, and uh, and
- 8:33Speaker 1: that and that Bible verse keeps me grounded and keeps
- 8:36Speaker 1: me sane because I've you know, there's a lot of
- 8:39Speaker 1: people that I know in our industry who who are
- 8:43Speaker 1: not rooted in that and and and so much of
- 8:45Speaker 1: what they do and so much of what they believe
- 8:47Speaker 1: in is so rooted on or measured by me getting
- 8:51Speaker 1: this part or me getting this thing or be you know,
- 8:54Speaker 1: I feel like that could drive you insane. In this business,
- 8:57Speaker 1: and so you have to kind of change your frame
- 9:00Speaker 1: of thinking in order to be able to survive.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Yeah, and and not everyone's timing is the same, right,
- 9:15Speaker 3: And then you, you know, sometimes you fall in the
- 9:18Speaker 3: trap of, you know, of of creating this imaginary parallel
- 9:23Speaker 3: tracks to other individuals or entities or or you know,
- 9:29Speaker 3: evolutions that you're like, well, I'm not part of that evolution.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Why I'm not keeping up with that? You know?
- 9:33Speaker 3: And the truth is you're gonna carve it at the
- 9:36Speaker 3: moment where you're the strongest to hold it and keep
- 9:38Speaker 3: it and like hell it, you know.
- 9:41Speaker 2: And and I.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Think that's the the interesting thing to think about what
- 9:45Speaker 3: you're saying, Like the timing is everything. But you know,
- 9:49Speaker 3: you also think about the different times in your life
- 9:51Speaker 3: where you've had certain levels of wisdom. Would you have
- 9:54Speaker 3: been able to hold the opportunity if we will come
- 9:57Speaker 3: to you ten years ago, twenty years ago, or is
- 10:00Speaker 3: this the time where you're old enough and young enough
- 10:02Speaker 3: to actually lead it into a completely different level.
- 10:06Speaker 2: And I believe you, Freddy.
- 10:08Speaker 3: You know, you write, you direct, you produce, and you
- 10:12Speaker 3: are an incredible performer. Tons of people are like, this
- 10:15Speaker 3: guy is a real deal. So you think about all
- 10:19Speaker 3: those skills that you gathered through near like, right now
- 10:21Speaker 3: is the time for you to make the uncomfortable funkle?
- 10:25Speaker 3: Like what is the thing? How do you push beyond
- 10:28Speaker 3: what you know? Most people feel comfortable boxing you in? Right,
- 10:31Speaker 3: And like, you know, you brought up Tom Cruise and
- 10:34Speaker 3: it's an interesting example because he continues to define to
- 10:37Speaker 3: like define the odds. Yeah, you know, it continues to
- 10:41Speaker 3: rewrite the playbook for everyone. Now there's a market for
- 10:44Speaker 3: somebody his age to still do the dynamic stuff that
- 10:47Speaker 3: people thought that those ages don't don't do or didn't
- 10:50Speaker 3: do back in the two thousands or in the you know,
- 10:53Speaker 3: in the nineties or the eighties. Yeah, if you got
- 10:56Speaker 3: a certain age, then you got play the dad. Right
- 11:00Speaker 3: he just said, you know, okay, Brad Pig gets to
- 11:02Speaker 3: be you know, Brad pid gets to be this, and
- 11:05Speaker 3: like have you ever done? Gets to be this, And
- 11:07Speaker 3: like all these individuals have now enter around where they
- 11:10Speaker 3: can still be you know, the action stars Lia Niesen.
- 11:14Speaker 2: You believe him kicking ass and taking it, you know.
- 11:18Speaker 3: So like I feel like that there's an interesting kind
- 11:20Speaker 3: of paradigm shifting and opening it up.
- 11:21Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 11:22Speaker 1: But you just said something interesting a minute ago. You
- 11:24Speaker 1: said about being in a position in your life where
- 11:28Speaker 1: you're able to receive those blessings, right, because sometimes people
- 11:34Speaker 1: do get blessed in the way that they dream and
- 11:36Speaker 1: the way that they want, and they're not ready to
- 11:39Speaker 1: receive those blessings.
- 11:40Speaker 2: It goes away.
- 11:41Speaker 1: It goes away, or it ruins you, right or you
- 11:45Speaker 1: or you waste it right you you, it drives you crazy,
- 11:49Speaker 1: you know whatever, fall into drugs. You you know, like,
- 11:52Speaker 1: look at you right, You're you're you're doing wonderfully. Your
- 11:56Speaker 1: company's thriving, You're producing some such awesome heial Like, do
- 12:01Speaker 1: you think that twenty years ago you would have been
- 12:04Speaker 1: able to handle that responsibility or that success, not on the.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Level that is happening now.
- 12:11Speaker 3: But I would say that I, at the very least
- 12:13Speaker 3: had the foresight to be hungry in the field.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah, because I created your Mama when I was like.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Twenty twenty four something like that, twenty four to twenty five. Yeah,
- 12:24Speaker 3: created your Mama on MTV. But I didn't know where
- 12:26Speaker 3: it was going to lead. I was like, you know,
- 12:27Speaker 3: it'd be cool, Yes, I started cool.
- 12:30Speaker 2: It's not like I'm building an empire.
- 12:32Speaker 3: No, it's like, yeah, cool, if I produce a show
- 12:33Speaker 3: on MTV, you know, yeah, and it started like that.
- 12:36Speaker 2: But those are the seeds for why.
- 12:38Speaker 3: But I agree, I wouldn't to have the foresight to
- 12:41Speaker 3: be able to hand to speak the language I speak
- 12:43Speaker 3: now on the executive level, on the CEO level, like ive.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Not had you kidding me? English is my second language.
- 12:51Speaker 3: I have barely a high school education, so I had
- 12:54Speaker 3: to take myself into like a bachelor degree of the
- 12:56Speaker 3: industry by wearing everyone's shoes, understand what it's like to
- 13:01Speaker 3: walk in them, to then find the the find the
- 13:04Speaker 3: wisdom that turned into the efficient opinion and point of view. Uh,
- 13:10Speaker 3: that made you intentionally thrive to grow into the thing
- 13:13Speaker 3: that you are right now.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Right, So, so you went through this evolution and this
- 13:18Speaker 1: growing period in order to be able to get to
- 13:21Speaker 1: where so you you you work towards it. I'm saying,
- 13:24Speaker 1: do you think that if and this is something that
- 13:27Speaker 1: you always aspire to, right and then and then and
- 13:31Speaker 1: then you were you were blessed with it, and here
- 13:32Speaker 1: you are and you're and you're emotionally prepared to handle
- 13:35Speaker 1: that stuff, right, I'm saying, like, imagine you Wimer seventy
- 13:40Speaker 1: show straight out and all of a sudden, you have
- 13:43Speaker 1: what you have now? You know, you've you've evolved into
- 13:47Speaker 1: the emotional maturity in order for you to be able
- 13:49Speaker 1: to handle everything you just said. Yeah, yeah, you you you,
- 13:53Speaker 1: you grew, you learned, you you whatever. But but but
- 13:55Speaker 1: there's an emotional maturity to you to be able to
- 13:58Speaker 1: receive and and and to be able to be a
- 14:01Speaker 1: good steward of those blessings.
- 14:03Speaker 2: You know. I think it's a recipe. I think it's
- 14:05Speaker 2: also like a perfect storm of things. You know.
- 14:07Speaker 3: You you also have to look at your environment. Yeah,
- 14:09Speaker 3: you have to look at the people you surround yourself with.
- 14:12Speaker 3: You still, you also have to kind of take an
- 14:14Speaker 3: inventory of you know, what are the resources available to
- 14:18Speaker 3: you in that moment to build your small everese you know,
- 14:23Speaker 3: and like you know, when you're starting the beginning, how
- 14:26Speaker 3: you're just trying to get the next audition, how do
- 14:28Speaker 3: you even have the foresight to you like I'm going
- 14:30Speaker 3: to run a studio one day, you know. Like, but
- 14:33Speaker 3: to your point, it's it's like, you know, your either
- 14:38Speaker 3: lack of understanding or ability to grow emotionally mature to
- 14:42Speaker 3: handle a responsibility like the ones that we we take
- 14:45Speaker 3: on now, you know, has to also be part of
- 14:49Speaker 3: an intentional mathematical equation that you have to do early
- 14:53Speaker 3: enough to say, I can't be hanging out with the
- 14:55Speaker 3: same you know, not go aheads. I can't you know,
- 14:58Speaker 3: I can't be like you know, I can't be carrying
- 15:01Speaker 3: myself that way. You know, like there's certain things that
- 15:04Speaker 3: you have to audit along the way if you're going
- 15:06Speaker 3: to give yourself a shot.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I just emotionally growing.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Did you have a kind of a very conscious shedding
- 15:15Speaker 1: period of shedding the knuckleheads, shedding the.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Well, it was very fortunate because you know, as an immigrant,
- 15:24Speaker 3: you know, you come in here knowing you got to
- 15:26Speaker 3: get it right from the beginning. But of course throughout
- 15:29Speaker 3: the process you get introduced to the clicks and the
- 15:33Speaker 3: you know, the posse's and the thing whatever.
- 15:35Speaker 2: And I always thought, oh, I'm as strong as my possey,
- 15:37Speaker 2: you know.
- 15:37Speaker 3: But you know, the idea is like, you know, you know,
- 15:43Speaker 3: an amount of posse or friends.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Or you know group or you know or you know,
- 15:48Speaker 2: your your.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Surroundings either could propelled you into your next thing, or
- 15:55Speaker 3: it can slow down the arrival of the opportunity, or
- 15:58Speaker 3: it could hold you in the play in the same place,
- 16:03Speaker 3: so you're so you're never gonna get to the right
- 16:05Speaker 3: place at the right time. How crazy is that you
- 16:09Speaker 3: can be holding in place with the people and the
- 16:12Speaker 3: surroundings that you have, knowing that it's easy, it's you
- 16:15Speaker 3: feel protected, you feel it's not vulnerable at all, Right,
- 16:19Speaker 3: But then you stay in the same block radius and
- 16:21Speaker 3: you'll never be able to be at the right time
- 16:24Speaker 3: at the right place because you never give yourself a
- 16:26Speaker 3: chance to like travel lighter on your feet, but at
- 16:29Speaker 3: least if an efficient view on on like who can
- 16:33Speaker 3: who makes you better?
- 16:35Speaker 2: You know?
- 16:35Speaker 1: Yeah, what do you think? What do you think that
- 16:37Speaker 1: barometer inside of you? Like, what does it say to
- 16:40Speaker 1: you when when you feel like maybe I should I
- 16:44Speaker 1: should shed this person, or maybe I should shed this
- 16:49Speaker 1: bad habit that I have, right like even us as
- 16:53Speaker 1: human beings, you know, Like I've been really focusing on
- 16:56Speaker 1: that lately too, Like you know habits, right, Like.
- 16:59Speaker 2: I think it's always manifest. I mean, I tell me what.
- 17:02Speaker 3: You know, what it's like for you too, or what
- 17:04Speaker 3: it was like for you too, But I know that
- 17:06Speaker 3: it manifested itself in like I'm exhausted to give.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Yeah, what made me exhausted to give?
- 17:15Speaker 3: Oh, this is taking this much emotional uh you know, investment.
- 17:21Speaker 2: This is taking so much more equity from me.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Like there's things around you that you know are there,
- 17:26Speaker 3: but they're so comfortable and you don't like change and
- 17:29Speaker 3: it's uncomfortable let go of either the bad friendships or
- 17:32Speaker 3: you just just keep it around. And like so you
- 17:35Speaker 3: put out the fires and the name of harmony as
- 17:39Speaker 3: opposed to like getting rid of the fire starters, you know.
- 17:44Speaker 3: So like so I think that's when you start really realizing,
- 17:47Speaker 3: Oh man, I got to start choosing myself right now.
- 17:49Speaker 3: If I'm gonna pay rent, Yeah, I'm gonna have to
- 17:52Speaker 3: choose in myself if like if I'm gonna have to
- 17:55Speaker 3: get to where I need to be right you know,
- 17:58Speaker 3: And I don't know, I can never can never trust
- 18:01Speaker 3: most of the industry to wish me well, you know,
- 18:05Speaker 3: I trust my brothers in arms like you that you
- 18:07Speaker 3: know have improven in the industry and we only make
- 18:10Speaker 3: each other better and try to really lift each other up.
- 18:12Speaker 2: But most people don't you know, you know how it is.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Yeah, So so it's like you either you have to
- 18:17Speaker 3: walk alone sometimes, you know, or you have to just
- 18:19Speaker 3: really do an inventory and really walk with those But
- 18:22Speaker 3: what what about for you?
- 18:23Speaker 2: When do you know the same same life for you?
- 18:26Speaker 1: How do I think for me? Like, as as we
- 18:30Speaker 1: grow older and we evolve in life and in our
- 18:34Speaker 1: and in the industry. In life, I feel like, you know,
- 18:38Speaker 1: you're mature, and your moral compass changes, and like you know,
- 18:43Speaker 1: when you're young, you're a knucklehead and like that stuff
- 18:45Speaker 1: is fun and being rebellious is cool, and like you know,
- 18:50Speaker 1: and you get older and you're mature, right, and then
- 18:52Speaker 1: sometimes there are people around you who are not maturing
- 18:55Speaker 1: at the same pace as you are. You know, like, dude,
- 19:01Speaker 1: you know, I love you, but I got a you know,
- 19:04Speaker 1: in order for me to mature, in order for for
- 19:06Speaker 1: for my compass to grow and to you know, I
- 19:09Speaker 1: have to I have to. I have to kind of
- 19:12Speaker 1: keep you at arm's length.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Uh.
- 19:13Speaker 1: And I think that in our business as you as
- 19:16Speaker 1: you also mature in av ARV in our industry, I
- 19:18Speaker 1: think that there's a lot of things that you that
- 19:20Speaker 1: you learn, right. There's there's etiquette that you learn, There's
- 19:24Speaker 1: there's things that you learned that that you may have
- 19:27Speaker 1: not known when you're first starting in the industry that
- 19:29Speaker 1: you learn as you get older and you're around enough
- 19:32Speaker 1: professionals and then you kind of get it and then
- 19:35Speaker 1: you start to if you know, there's I'm constantly sort
- 19:38Speaker 1: of evaluating myself and doing self checks in myself and
- 19:43Speaker 1: what I could improve, what I can't, you know, what
- 19:45Speaker 1: habits I have, what bad habits?
- 19:47Speaker 2: You know. It's great.
- 19:48Speaker 1: When we had Lewis Howe here and he was talking,
- 19:49Speaker 1: he gave that analogy about like squeezing an orange, right,
- 19:52Speaker 1: Remember that he was talking about if you squeeze an orange,
- 19:55Speaker 1: what comes out orange juice? Right, So it's like when
- 19:57Speaker 1: you get squeezed, like what's inside it? You you know, like
- 20:01Speaker 1: evaluate what's society you so that when you do get squeezed,
- 20:04Speaker 1: the right juice comes.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Out right, right, you know.
- 20:06Speaker 1: So I think I'm constantly on that quest. And we're
- 20:09Speaker 1: all human, right, so like we're not perfect by no means,
- 20:12Speaker 1: but I'm constantly just trying to evaluate what that juice
- 20:16Speaker 1: is so that so that when the juice duck does
- 20:18Speaker 1: come out, it's it's.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Right, bro, No, that's great, thank you for ever and
- 20:21Speaker 3: that for me, it's like you get up in the
- 20:24Speaker 3: morning and take it to breath look around. I'm like,
- 20:26Speaker 3: that's awesome, that's awesome. That's awesome. That's awesome.
- 20:29Speaker 2: I'm going to the gym and I'm just like gonna
- 20:31Speaker 2: break a sweat.
- 20:31Speaker 3: That's awesome. And then you know, and then you just
- 20:34Speaker 3: start your day and try to like whatever challenge just comes,
- 20:36Speaker 3: you're gonna solve it.
- 20:37Speaker 1: But what about So no coffee before the gym, no food.
- 20:40Speaker 3: No coffee before the gym. No, but sometimes when I'm
- 20:45Speaker 3: doing the four to thirty eight yms, yeah, yeah, give
- 20:48Speaker 3: me some of that caffeine.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:50Speaker 1: So bad an empty stomach and you work out on
- 20:52Speaker 1: an empty stomach.
- 20:53Speaker 2: I do work on an empty stomach.
- 20:55Speaker 1: And so all the ash it doesn't come out.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I'm like, really, no, no, no, no, I chose to not
- 21:01Speaker 2: have assets.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Well, I'm gonna choose not to have cancer.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's good that.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I'm never I'm never gonna have it.
- 21:11Speaker 2: That's good. It's good. I highly recommend that I did.
- 21:15Speaker 2: That's what I hear. Highly recommend.
- 21:17Speaker 1: H Yeah, what.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Is your morning routine? I said, before we get.
- 21:31Speaker 1: My morning routine. The second. I mean sometimes even when
- 21:34Speaker 1: I'm in bed, I just pray that's that's really because
- 21:38Speaker 1: I know that if if I if I get out
- 21:40Speaker 1: of bed and I go downstairs and it's like, oh,
- 21:44Speaker 1: let me look at my phone.
- 21:45Speaker 2: You have a base in your house or you just
- 21:46Speaker 2: do it wherever you're at it.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, even in my room, there's a there's
- 21:51Speaker 1: a you know, I just get on my knees, or
- 21:52Speaker 1: sometimes I get on a bench and I just sit. Yeah, yeah,
- 21:58Speaker 1: there's a I have a small little gym like with
- 22:00Speaker 1: a with a with a mat. Sometimes I'll just go there.
- 22:04Speaker 1: But I have to do it first thing because otherwise
- 22:06Speaker 1: I get you know, that add kicks in, man, and
- 22:09Speaker 1: my brain.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Starts to go boo.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, it starts to spend man. So
- 22:14Speaker 1: before that spinding starts to happen, I have to do it.
- 22:18Speaker 1: That And like I've been practicing TM transcendental meditation for
- 22:23Speaker 1: a good decade or so, I got to get better
- 22:28Speaker 1: at it. I got to be better about it because
- 22:30Speaker 1: sometimes I just get so distracted. But like it's helped
- 22:34Speaker 1: me in so many ways.
- 22:36Speaker 2: It's helped me.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Regulate mood and anxiety. I feel like it's made me
- 22:42Speaker 1: a better actor.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Because because you're more centered, more open.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, because you know, you get in front of
- 22:50Speaker 1: that camera and you have thirty people behind you, and
- 22:52Speaker 1: it's so easy to get like and I feel like boom,
- 22:56Speaker 1: it gives me, like I get so focused and I
- 22:58Speaker 1: feel like it connects the sort of penal gland with
- 23:01Speaker 1: like you know, with all your everything, your gut and
- 23:04Speaker 1: your heart and right, because acting is just all about
- 23:07Speaker 1: like finding the truth and so like if you're connected
- 23:09Speaker 1: with all this stuff, it's just about this sending the
- 23:11Speaker 1: signal down here to like.
- 23:13Speaker 2: And you have to be aligned with your instrument.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, your.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Instrument is all of this.
- 23:18Speaker 3: For all those young actors out there, Yeah, instrument is
- 23:21Speaker 3: like your entire bodies how you tell the story. And
- 23:24Speaker 3: if your mind is somewhere else, the body is not
- 23:26Speaker 3: going to tell the story, right, So.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Yeah align Yeah, and you're and you're constantly I feel
- 23:32Speaker 1: that those actors were constantly fighting. It's really easy to
- 23:35Speaker 1: like read a script and go okay, and then here
- 23:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna do this face, and then here I'm gonna
- 23:40Speaker 1: you know, here I'm gonna say it like.
- 23:42Speaker 2: This that hey listen.
- 23:44Speaker 1: For some people works, you know, I find for me,
- 23:48Speaker 1: it's easier for me to to to know what the
- 23:51Speaker 1: emotion is, and in order to get that emotion. Uh, truthfully,
- 23:56Speaker 1: I have to be sort of aligned and internally it
- 23:59Speaker 1: takes a lot of work, and you know, I just
- 24:01Speaker 1: feel like that's what works for me.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Right, It's weird for me when I'm reading a script,
- 24:06Speaker 3: I cannot help but to start performing it. Yeah, of course,
- 24:10Speaker 3: of course I'm reading the other characters lines. Yeah, it
- 24:16Speaker 3: turns into it turns into me making choices based on
- 24:19Speaker 3: what I'm hearing back from the script.
- 24:21Speaker 1: So will you do the other characters lines?
- 24:24Speaker 3: Yeah, So, like I'm playing the other characters, and I'm
- 24:26Speaker 3: playing my character, right, So I look at my character,
- 24:29Speaker 3: and then as they respond to me, I'm making choices
- 24:32Speaker 3: as them, and so then I respond to the choices
- 24:36Speaker 3: of those characters as the character.
- 24:40Speaker 2: When I'm called reading it.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Wow, that's the only and that's why it takes me
- 24:44Speaker 3: a while to read a script, because I take the
- 24:46Speaker 3: dramatic process and everything like, yeah, I take, I internalize it,
- 24:50Speaker 3: I do the whole thing. Like so, so my first take,
- 24:53Speaker 3: my first honest take of what my character is going
- 24:56Speaker 3: through in that scene is informed by how I'm reading
- 24:59Speaker 3: the other characters.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Wow, hey man, everybody has their way of getting there.
- 25:06Speaker 1: You got every you know, every everybody there is to me,
- 25:09Speaker 1: there's no right way as well.
- 25:11Speaker 3: It's this yeah, yeah, you know, you know how you're
- 25:13Speaker 3: lucky in but but like this was this was a
- 25:16Speaker 3: really great reminder to to have those routines to wake
- 25:19Speaker 3: up in the morning, you know, practice gratitude, take that
- 25:21Speaker 3: deep breath, and then also being one with like the
- 25:24Speaker 3: audacity of making the phone call for yourself.
- 25:26Speaker 2: We kept talking about.
- 25:27Speaker 3: This earlier, like, you know, if you have this gratitude
- 25:31Speaker 3: where you're at, how much farther can you go only
- 25:34Speaker 3: realize on how bold you're gonna be with your self worth.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Your self worth is going to inform what you're gonna
- 25:39Speaker 3: call to.
- 25:40Speaker 2: To get to get next. You know.
- 25:42Speaker 1: So are we going down this list of like quotes here, Yeah, that's.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Why we do not need to do it, but we're
- 25:47Speaker 2: gonna do it now.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Everything happens for reasons.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Do you believe that it is what it is?
- 25:53Speaker 1: It is what it is?
- 25:54Speaker 2: It is? What? Do you believe that is what it is?
- 25:57Speaker 2: I don't believe in that. I think it is what
- 26:00Speaker 2: it is.
- 26:00Speaker 3: It's like a coma because something has to happen after
- 26:02Speaker 3: that it is what it is.
- 26:04Speaker 2: It is what it is.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Okay, then the guy's a prink.
- 26:07Speaker 2: It is what it is. Okay. Well right, well there's
- 26:10Speaker 2: there's no older alternative. That's just what it is. That's okay,
- 26:14Speaker 2: what it is. Okay, yolo, yolo. Oh you only live once,
- 26:17Speaker 2: live once? Man? Okay? Cool?
- 26:20Speaker 3: All right, so let's bet it all on black. Let's
- 26:21Speaker 3: lose everything. All right, that's great, that's that's freaking great.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Time heels old wounds?
- 26:28Speaker 2: Does it though? Does it? Are you still time? Are
- 26:31Speaker 2: you really? Does it really? Time? Are you still holding
- 26:37Speaker 2: a grudge? This is this? Is it already thirty years?
- 26:40Speaker 2: Is it obvious from thirty years ago? All right, that's
- 26:43Speaker 2: the next one.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Dance like no one's watching, Oh my dance, like nobody's
- 26:47Speaker 1: watching Wilmer?
- 26:48Speaker 2: Who wrote these?
- 26:50Speaker 3: Uh leo clin it's interesting, it's interesting them?
- 26:54Speaker 2: Is it? I wrote them for this exact reason? Oh,
- 26:57Speaker 2: because it creates a vicious debate. Yeah, they're polarizing, they're polarizing.
- 27:03Speaker 2: It is what it.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Gets under my skin.
- 27:05Speaker 2: When yeah, yeah, no, there's no. It is always a
- 27:09Speaker 2: reason for everything. There's always a reason, But we're dexcided
- 27:11Speaker 2: to ignore it because we want to end the conversation.
- 27:13Speaker 2: It is what it is, and here.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Fake it till you make it?
- 27:20Speaker 2: Is it? Fake it till you make it? Wow? What
- 27:23Speaker 2: happens when you make it?
- 27:24Speaker 1: Is?
- 27:24Speaker 2: You really have to do it?
- 27:25Speaker 1: Right?
- 27:27Speaker 2: I guess what happens? Then, smarty pants? When I fake
- 27:31Speaker 2: it till I make it? And then when you make it?
- 27:33Speaker 2: What happens? Now you really have to do it? What
- 27:35Speaker 2: happens now?
- 27:36Speaker 1: Now? Now I could wear the real role action, not
- 27:39Speaker 1: the one I got from the alley town. Is that
- 27:43Speaker 1: kind of way?
- 27:44Speaker 2: It does work?
- 27:44Speaker 3: But the fake it too it make it is such
- 27:46Speaker 3: an interesting one because because okay, you faked it into
- 27:52Speaker 3: uh into a career, and then now.
- 27:54Speaker 2: You have to practice it right When are you gonna
- 27:57Speaker 2: learn it?
- 27:58Speaker 3: I don't know, dude, I guess I guess you're faking
- 28:01Speaker 3: and you're unfortunately you're making it right now. Look, but
- 28:06Speaker 3: but you know what, everything happens for a reason. Okay,
- 28:09Speaker 3: it's also it is what it is.
- 28:10Speaker 2: It helps for me. It is what it is.
- 28:11Speaker 3: It is what it is, you know, And to be
- 28:14Speaker 3: honest Leo from two night's episode, Uh, you know, I
- 28:18Speaker 3: just know the time is gonna heal everything.
- 28:21Speaker 2: All right?
- 28:22Speaker 3: And uh and I know that after this is done,
- 28:25Speaker 3: you're gonna go home. You're gonna dance like nobody's watching.
- 28:28Speaker 2: If the tree falls in the forest doesn't make it
- 28:30Speaker 2: sound right, right, Yeah? Yeah, yeah. If I didn't see
- 28:35Speaker 2: you dance, you didn't do it.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Yeah, everything happens for a reason.
- 28:39Speaker 2: I get it. I get it. And I guess that
- 28:41Speaker 2: you yolo when you dance where nobody's watching.
- 28:43Speaker 3: But you get home and you dance by yourself and
- 28:46Speaker 3: you're just like dancing like nobody's watching.
- 28:49Speaker 2: What does that mean that you're gonna just be silly?
- 28:51Speaker 1: I guess, I guess it's it's a it's a it's
- 28:54Speaker 1: a quote on confidence, right like like saying be confident.
- 28:58Speaker 3: So that means like dancing front of people, like they're
- 29:01Speaker 3: not there to watch you dance, or be as bold.
- 29:04Speaker 1: As you would when you're dancing at home by yourself,
- 29:08Speaker 1: right Like, there's a form of confidence that that you
- 29:12Speaker 1: exude when you're dancing for yourself.
- 29:15Speaker 2: That's it. That's it?
- 29:19Speaker 1: Yeah, is it?
- 29:21Speaker 2: Well? Listen for those of you who use this on
- 29:23Speaker 2: your daily basis, please don't get I know, yeah, you
- 29:26Speaker 2: better cut this off.
