- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, friend.
- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 0:01[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for joining us once again right here on the program.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so pleased that you would bake the investment of time today to listen to this broadcast.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: Not because I have some thought from the Lord to deliver to you some personal inspiration to convey to you.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: Not because I have anything of my own issue with you, but because I get to introduce you to someone that
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: I wish I could have met someone that knowing of him and hearing about him, I truly believe that he would be someone that I could have called a friend.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: Someone that in reality was and is still considered by many to have been a friend.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: Dr. Paul Levine, you say you're talking this guy
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: was he without sin, absolutely not.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: He would never claim that.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: But he so well respected has left such a great legacy.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's been off the scene.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's been in glory.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: He passed over through heavens and gates.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: 25 years ago.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: But there are so many folks in people listing right now.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: I can almost imagine people as soon as you remember that Dr. Paul Levine is speaking on the radio today as soon as you realize that
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: your eyes light up.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: I've talked to so many people like that.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: And it's so gratifying to me to know that though they are extraordinarily large shoes to fill that I get to be a part of the ministry.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: I get to direct in as the Lord leads guide the ministry that Dr. Paul founded over eight decades ago.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: Bible tracks incorporated.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's not mine.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: and actually it's not Dr. Paul's either.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: This is God's work, this is God's ministry, I just get to be the current steward of it.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: If the Lord Terry is coming, there will come a day when I will have to pass the reins, whether by death or by choice, onto the next man up.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm very thankful, though, that at this moment, the reins have fallen to me and that I get to speak to you through this microphone right now, through the speakers wherever you're listening.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to thank you for being a part today.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: We are going to continue a message by Dr. Paul Avine that he preached decades ago, but it still rings so true.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: The thought is so fundamental.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: Today, the theme is this, don't miss the easy way.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about you, but I can be a hard head sometimes.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: I can be a knucklehead sometimes.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: I can be incredibly stubborn.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: Now I can't speak for you, but it's likely that there may be just a few people listening right now that you can identify with that.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: And this message today from Dr. Paul, it's for all of us.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna ask you to tune your ears.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's a snippet, it's a part of a message he preached as I said decades ago entitled horses and mules.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: Would you listen now as Dr. Paul speaks to us?
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: Now when God says, I'll guide you with my eye, what he's saying is, give me your attention.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: He said, well, who else could get my attention?
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, a lot of things could have your attention.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: The rock crowd could have your attention.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: And the rock crowd have so much of your attention.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: God never gets any attention from you.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: See, dirty literature gets your attention.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: God can't speak to you.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: It might be the filthy literature.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: It might be the gang you run around with back home.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: A boy said to me this week, I try to live for God.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: I said, do you run around the wrong bunch?
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then you're not trying too hard.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: You gotta stay with that crowd.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: They've got your attention.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: See?
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: All right, maybe your jobs got your attention.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: Not so fine to have a job and find it makes a money, but don't make a God out of there.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe your hobby has your attention or sports or a boy or a girl.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: or the drinking crowd of the dope game.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: See?
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: And they've got your attention, and Lord, say, hey, you give me your attention.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: All I'll guide you with my eye.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's the easy way to be guided.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's the way some wives guide their husband.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: They just end up in glare at them, and a guy gets scared boy, he knows exactly what that means.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: When I was a kid in school, let me just illustrate this.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: I had been as, when I was a kid in sixth grade, I had a hanging up on chewing gum.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I take my lunch money and buy gum with it.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I take a whole package of gum and ram it at my mouth and it looked like I was chewing to back it.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I loved the chew gum.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: The teacher, that was against the rules of chew gum when you were in sixth grade.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: And you know one day, I was chewing away on my gum and I had to look up and the teacher was sitting behind her desk staring right at me.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how long she'd been looking at me.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: But when I have no, oh, not my eyes, and my eyes meant her eyes, there's she was staring right at me.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: You know what she did?
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: Whether I, she did this.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: Got me right up from my desk, marks me all the way back to the back wall of the school room, clear back all this way and wait on the front of the room again with those away Spaskin.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: And she guided me with her eye all the way back there and dawned on here to that way Spaskin where I spit that gum out.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: She did it with a ride.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: Now I was glad she did it that way.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: She could have done it with a ball bat.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: She had a kind of a mean habit.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: She'd walk up to you and if you were behaving, she had a ruler.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: And she'd smack you on the knuckle of that ruler.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: Wham?
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: Boy, if I teach her to do that today, the humanistic modern liberal crowd have been having hung before breakfast.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: But back in those days, you had to behave yourself in school.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: And she did, boy, she smacked you with that ruler and man, you see the stars.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: But she didn't smack me with that ruler.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: She did with her eye.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: She got my attention.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: After that, I never looked at her anymore.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: But that's it.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: Well, sir, if I was a two-in-a-gover's up, I just kept my eye to myself.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: But God said, hey, give me your attention.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: Give me your attention.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: If I could just have your attention, I will guide you the easy way.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: Let me give you an illustration of that.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: The first Baptist Church of Hammond used to come down here before they had their own camp.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: Something to sometimes bring 2,300 kids.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: And one year, as a young man came with him, and he was in a state of rebellion.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: He was so rebellious, he wouldn't react right on the bus of the rest of them.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: Imagine how can takers in me and a guy can get.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: You say, how do you get down there?
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: He wrote in his own car behind the bus and smoke cigarettes all the way down here.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: He goes, show them boy.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody go tell him what to do.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: He goes, smoke case cigarettes.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: And he wouldn't go right on that bus.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's what he did.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: And he was here.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: I'll never forget him because he was kind of a big guy and he bought probably about 19 muscular and oh man could he hit a ball he he hit left handed and I was playing first bed he didn't nearly knock me down a couple of times with his line drives and it got to where when he got up to bed I got out there to write feel somewhere and never forget this guy
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to preach that night like last night.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: You see, you hear all week, we're going to budge, you wouldn't give in, no sir.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: We're not even riding on the bus.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: Smoke cigarettes all the way down here.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to do his own thing.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, sir, boy.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: And so that night, that's why tonight, I preached a whole sermon just for that guy.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: I suppose our others would need it, but I didn't know anybody else for sure, but I knew that guy needed it.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I preached the whole message just for that guy, and blessed God when we gave the imitation down the aisle he came.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he was happy, and I was happy, and that guy was happy.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: He gave in.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: He gave up his rebellion, and he was happy about it.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I was just up at Hammond to speak to the high schoolers from Sunday through Saturday night.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: And he's on the staff up there now.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: And the last I heard he was leaving there and he's going to go out to what is it?
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: Pomona, California, to be with, what's that preacher's name out there?
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: Ray Batimer.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: Ray Batimer.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: So this young fella who came to...
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: to this camp in a state of utter rebellion, small consigarettes all the way down here, right in behind the bus in his own car, God got his attention the easy way.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: God didn't have the clovering.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: Down the aisle he came, and now God's use name as the youth director.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: Now that's what God wants with you.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: And so he says, I will guide you with my eye.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: If he just came here attention,
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: You see, the Bible says Psalm 33, 24, that God will guide me with His counsel.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: What does that mean?
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: That means that God who knows everything.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: knows why don't make you the happiest in this life if you're willing to pay the price and God says, I'll guide you in my console when life's all over with, I'll take you into heaven.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why the Bible says, trust in the Lord with all your heart.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: We not tier on understanding in all our ways, acknowledge Him.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: He's held direct by past.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: Be not wise in your own eyes.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: Fear of the Lord and depart from evil.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, young folks, can God have your attention.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: who's got your attention now?
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: What has your attention now?
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody does!
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: And something does!
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: They've got your attention.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: Why don't you get real smart and give your attention to God who loves you and knows what's best for you and you'll make you happy.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: All right?
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: So much for direction.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: Now one more word and that's the word correction.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: God says, if you don't let me guide you the easy way, I'll put a bit in a bridal on you.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: The Bible speaks of a bit in the Bible.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: In Isaiah 37, verses 29, says 34, the King of Syria, God says, I'll put a bit in the Bible and you will boin, I'll turn you around.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'll take you back where you came from.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: With a bit in the Bible.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: Let's be a horrible thing for a horse to have a bit rammed in his mouth.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: But God says, that's what I'll do.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: If I have to, see, don't be like a horse or a mule, they get rebellious.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: And he says, they don't have good sense sometimes, but with this rebellion.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I may have to deal with you some other way.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'll take a mule, for example.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know what?
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Mules are not only stubborn, but they're contrary.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: When a mule is pushing, with these back legs, he's pushing backwards with these front legs at the same time.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't get anywhere.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: He's very backward about going forward.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: See?
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: And the guy had a mule hitched up to a wagon with a lot of stuff on a mule wooden budge and he said, what are we going to do?
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: And the guy said, build a fire on a mule mule mule so that build a fire on the mule and the mule just walked up fire enough to pull a wagon over the fire and burnt the wagon everything up.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's why mules are, say, they're stubborn and they're contrary.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Now God says, look, don't be like, let me guide you the easy way.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: Don't be like a mule, don't be stubborn and contrary.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I have to put a bridal on you, that won't be fun.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: You say, what does that bridal mean?
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: That means God will deal with you some way to get your attention.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: That's what that means.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: and God knows how to do it.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: Boy, God can get your attention.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, friend, thank you so much for listening, so intently, so intently.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: I've got to ask you a question.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: Has God ever had to deal with you?
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: Have you ever made it difficult for God to lead you?
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my, if this was confession time, we could go for hours, expounding on the mistakes of Mike and McCree, but really, if we were all honest, we could all say the same thing.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: Don't miss the easy way.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's what Dr. Paul was helping us with today.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna ask you,
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: to join us tomorrow because he's really just getting warmed up.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: You say he was pretty intense just now.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: You haven't seen anything yet.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: Dr. Paul can get with it.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: Tomorrow we're going to continue this motif that this thought.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the theme that I want you to reflect on as we have another maybe 24 hours until you hear this radio broadcast again.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: Realize this.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: That God will.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_01]: If necessary,
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: get your attention.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: Our desire, our endeavor should be to make it easy for him to get our attention.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: He shouldn't have to smack his upside the head, but sometimes we just don't listen to me.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: Let's be leadable.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: Let's be desiring to be led by God.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for listening.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: Have a great day for his glory.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: God bless.
