But not for bread or pastries, we've done that before. Today we're ordering a cake. Luna: Oh, a cake! I love cake. Is it for a special occasion? Lucas: Could be a birthday, a party, or just because. So let's start with the most important phrase: Ik wil een taart bestellen. Luna: Ik wil een taart bestellen. That means 'I want to order a cake'. Lucas: Exactly. Say it with me: Ik wil een taart bestellen. Luna: Ik wil een taart bestellen. Lucas: Good. Now suppose you want a birthday cake specifically. You can ask: Heeft u een verjaardagstaart? Luna: Heeft u een verjaardagstaart? 'Do you have a birthday cake?' Lucas: Yes. Heeft u een verjaardagstaart? Repeat after me. Luna: Heeft u een verjaardagstaart? Lucas: Nice. Now the baker might ask: Voor hoeveel personen? Luna: Voor hoeveel personen? 'For how many people?' Lucas: Right. For example, you can say: Voor zes personen. Luna: Voor zes personen. 'For six people.' Lucas: Let's practice that exchange. I'll be the baker, you be the customer. So I ask: Voor hoeveel personen? Luna: Voor zes personen. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's add the price. You can ask: Hoeveel kost de taart? Luna: Hoeveel kost de taart? 'How much does the cake cost?' Lucas: And the baker might say: Die is twintig euro. Luna: Die is twintig euro. 'It's twenty euros.' Lucas: Let's put it all together. Imagine you walk into a bakery. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. Lucas: You say: Ik wil een taart bestellen. Luna: Ik wil een taart bestellen. Lucas: Then: Heeft u een verjaardagstaart? Luna: Heeft u een verjaardagstaart? Lucas: I ask: Voor hoeveel personen? Luna: Voor zes personen. Lucas: Then you ask: Hoeveel kost de taart? Luna: Hoeveel kost de taart? Lucas: And I say: Die is twintig euro. Luna: Die is twintig euro. That sounds reasonable for a cake. Lucas: Absolutely. Now let's do a quick role play for real. You're the customer, I'm the baker. Go ahead. Luna: Ik wil een taart bestellen. Lucas: Welke taart wilt u? Luna: Heeft u een verjaardagstaart? Lucas: Ja, voor hoeveel personen?
