- 0:26Speaker 1: It is time believe your worries outside and laugh with
- 0:31Speaker 1: us inside the tree house. I'm Daniel Malley, along with
- 0:35Speaker 1: Trade Trenholm and Jerry Caldwell on a Tuesday, October twenty ninth,
- 0:43Speaker 1: twenty twenty four, which means we are one week away
- 0:47Speaker 1: from election day. Countdown is on. There was another countdown
- 0:55Speaker 1: years ago that I started. I didn't mark the day specifically,
- 1:00Speaker 1: but I know I started eight years ago, and that
- 1:02Speaker 1: was I knew at some point I was no longer
- 1:05Speaker 1: going to be cool. Some would argue that I never was,
- 1:09Speaker 1: and that's fair, but I think most of us at
- 1:12Speaker 1: our core at least want to think we're kind of cool.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Maybe it depends on our mood or you know what's
- 1:22Speaker 1: going on around us directly, but for the most part,
- 1:24Speaker 1: I like to think at one point I was cool.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I've now come to the realization that I am no
- 1:29Speaker 1: longer cool, if I ever was, because I sometimes will
- 1:35Speaker 1: find myself deep in thought and asking the question, what
- 1:38Speaker 1: would my younger self think of my older current self.
- 1:44Speaker 1: In some regards, I think my younger self would be like, hey,
- 1:49Speaker 1: not too shabby. But then something hit me like a
- 1:55Speaker 1: ton of bricks recently, and that is, I now do
- 2:01Speaker 1: certain things and make certain choices that my younger self
- 2:05Speaker 1: would have never dreamt of making. For example, I'm now
- 2:12Speaker 1: in d Bingo, I eat cottage cheese, and I love
- 2:17Speaker 1: the taste of fresco. Basically, I've turned into my own grandmother. Also,
- 2:25Speaker 1: my back hurts hm. Now, I got like a little
- 2:29Speaker 1: something in my throat, So I wish I had one
- 2:31Speaker 1: of those lozenges that my grandmother actually did used to
- 2:35Speaker 1: carry around the little ten What was it? Was it
- 2:37Speaker 1: Louden's coffee, the Ludens. I haven't crossed the you know,
- 2:44Speaker 1: butterscotch candy where there's original threshold just yet, but I
- 2:49Speaker 1: think that might be the last straw. So if you
- 2:52Speaker 1: ever see me asking for a butterscotch, I have made
- 2:56Speaker 1: the full change into old lady.
- 3:01Speaker 3: I'm you know, I'm with you. I've always loved a fresca.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Are you with me?
- 3:08Speaker 4: Trey?
- 3:08Speaker 1: Are we turning into the Golden Girls? I got DIBs
- 3:10Speaker 1: on Blanche, I mean being Blanche, not getting never mind,
- 3:16Speaker 1: let's start over you. You feel old too.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Trey, Yes, I'm and you. I was with you until
- 3:23Speaker 3: cottage cheese.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a new thing for me. Man, and that's
- 3:27Speaker 1: where it was the bingo. Actually, it was all three
- 3:31Speaker 1: of those things. It was like it was like the
- 3:34Speaker 1: service of old age bingo, cottage cheese, and fresca, because
- 3:41Speaker 1: my grandmother loved fresca, and that's probably where I learned
- 3:44Speaker 1: to enjoy fresca, but also because it's caffeine free and tasty.
- 3:49Speaker 1: The cottage cheese thing was was a new realization because
- 3:53Speaker 1: my younger self hated cottage cheese. And when I say
- 3:56Speaker 1: younger self, I even mean like a year ago. We're
- 4:00Speaker 1: talking about forty plus. We're looking we're talking forty plus
- 4:03Speaker 1: years of life that I have hated the ground cottage
- 4:08Speaker 1: cheese existed on. Now I've got three tubs of it
- 4:11Speaker 1: in my fridge.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Are you a large curd or small curd?
- 4:15Speaker 5: Man?
- 4:17Speaker 1: There's multiple kinds of curds.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Yes, oh my.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Are there different flavor profiles large versus small curds? Curds?
- 4:30Speaker 4: Uh No, It's just more about how much of the
- 4:32Speaker 4: actual like milk, fat substance, you know, the actual curd,
- 4:36Speaker 4: how much of that you want versus the way portion?
- 4:40Speaker 1: Gotcha. I'm in it for the protein, yeah, yeah, it is.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I mean, it's a great source of protein. It's a
- 4:48Speaker 1: great snack, and something happened to where my taste buds
- 4:51Speaker 1: don't want to immediately spit it out anymore. So something's
- 4:54Speaker 1: happened in there, and I like it for some reason. So, Trey,
- 4:57Speaker 1: you're with me on the cottage cheese.
- 4:59Speaker 3: No, No, that's where I was with you all just
- 5:03Speaker 3: up until cottage cheese. Jerry's clearly with you on the
- 5:06Speaker 3: cottage cheese.
- 5:07Speaker 4: I love cottae cheese. I've eating that my whole life.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Man, I hate looking around, and the only person that's
- 5:12Speaker 1: got my back is Jerry. No offense.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Well, I mean the whole thing about not being cool.
- 5:20Speaker 3: You know, I work in a place where it's with
- 5:23Speaker 3: twenties and thirty somethings. I am reminded every day I
- 5:26Speaker 3: am not cool. So see, I think you're wrong. I
- 5:30Speaker 3: think you can be cool. It's just that they've put
- 5:34Speaker 3: you into the old box and you're buying into it.
- 5:38Speaker 3: You can still be older than your co workers and
- 5:42Speaker 3: employees but still be cool, and you still cool. I'm fifty,
- 5:50Speaker 3: I don't drink, and when I'm not working, I like
- 5:54Speaker 3: to be in bed before ten o'clock. I know I'm
- 5:58Speaker 3: okay with it.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I've and you know.
- 6:01Speaker 1: What, it's cool to accept who you are. That makes
- 6:05Speaker 1: you cool. Being cool means not giving a damn what
- 6:09Speaker 1: people think about you, what time you go to bed,
- 6:11Speaker 1: whether or not you like small or large curt cottage
- 6:14Speaker 1: cheese and you want to wash it down with a
- 6:16Speaker 1: fresca and you want to binge watch Golden Girls because
- 6:20Speaker 1: you relate.
- 6:21Speaker 2: And you can't just drink a protein shake.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I have that as well, but it's just really easy
- 6:29Speaker 1: to open the fridge, grab the tub of the cottage
- 6:31Speaker 1: cheese and a spoon and just, you know, spoon a
- 6:33Speaker 1: bunch of it, as opposed to get the tub of
- 6:35Speaker 1: the protein and mix it and shake it and shake
- 6:38Speaker 1: it some more and all.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just okay. So you really want to expand
- 6:43Speaker 4: your profile, get yourself some canned peaches and mix some
- 6:48Speaker 4: of that in with the cottage cheese.
- 6:51Speaker 1: That I'm not going with. I don't think I'm I've
- 6:54Speaker 1: not crossed the cottage cheese threshold into the sweet side.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna keep it on the savory middle, the roadside.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I'm actually fine with just a little bit of pepper
- 7:03Speaker 1: on it, and I'm good, and I don't really want
- 7:05Speaker 1: to dress it up anymore than that. I saw someone
- 7:08Speaker 1: taste testing a pumpkin spice cottage cheese. I'm like, you know,
- 7:12Speaker 1: I love pumpkin spice, but I'm not ready to mix
- 7:14Speaker 1: the PSL with the cottage cheese just yet.
- 7:17Speaker 4: No, that sounds gross.
- 7:18Speaker 3: And now I'm scared. I haven't had cottage cheese in
- 7:22Speaker 3: a long time. I'm scared that if I have it,
- 7:25Speaker 3: I'm gonna like it.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Oh, come to the cheesy side, my friend. Maybe you
- 7:33Speaker 1: and I can figure out what we like better, bigger,
- 7:36Speaker 1: small curds.
- 7:39Speaker 4: If you really want to do something old, there's always
- 7:42Speaker 4: the peanuts and coca cola.
- 7:47Speaker 1: That sounds vaguely familiar. What's the peanuts and coca cola?
- 7:49Speaker 4: That's exactly what it sounds like. You get yourself a
- 7:51Speaker 4: nice glass of icy cold Coca cola, and you put
- 7:55Speaker 4: some salted peanuts in it, and you take a drink,
- 7:59Speaker 4: eat the peanut, taste the coke.
- 8:01Speaker 1: It is delicious.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Okay, that's more of an eighties country western bar thing
- 8:08Speaker 3: than I think of as old.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I think. I think you just describing an eighties country
- 8:14Speaker 1: western bar sounds old, So I think the two go together.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Go ahead, God Day.
- 8:21Speaker 4: And then there's also corn bread and buttermilk and a cup.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Had a buddy of mine, his grandmother was a hardcore
- 8:34Speaker 1: buttermilk chugger, and I mean it was like the fullest
- 8:38Speaker 1: fat buttermilk you could find. That's what she wanted from
- 8:41Speaker 1: the store. And to her credit, she lived into her nineties. So,
- 8:44Speaker 1: I mean, the the peanuts and coca cola thing, I
- 8:50Speaker 1: didn't really have that in my family. In my family,
- 8:54Speaker 1: it was my grandfather mixing seven up and vodka and
- 8:59Speaker 1: then driving.
- 9:03Speaker 4: My dad was whiskey and water.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Tray.
- 9:07Speaker 1: What was what was your family?
- 9:09Speaker 2: Bourbon and soda?
- 9:11Speaker 4: There you go.
- 9:12Speaker 1: So apparently all we got to do is add some
- 9:14Speaker 1: peanuts and we just kind of, you know, mix all
- 9:16Speaker 1: three together. Yeah. So it's it's a very difficult thing
- 9:20Speaker 1: to realize that you wake up one day at four
- 9:23Speaker 1: am and you're like, oh my god, I'm old.
- 9:26Speaker 4: For me, my I think I'm getting old. Moment was
- 9:29Speaker 4: I ordered a vacuum cleaner online and I was so
- 9:36Speaker 4: excited that Amazon was going to deliver me a vacuum cleaner.
- 9:41Speaker 4: I was anticipating and it was waiting for it. It
- 9:43Speaker 4: showed up. I did the little happy dance. I almost
- 9:45Speaker 4: did an unboxing video it was.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that's pretty bad. Yeah, although I can't criticize you
- 9:52Speaker 1: for it, because I was really excited when when my
- 9:54Speaker 1: new coffee table showed up. It has one of those
- 10:01Speaker 1: it has it has one of those trays that lift
- 10:03Speaker 1: out of it that's attached to the coffee table. That
- 10:05Speaker 1: way I could bring my cottage cheese closer to me.
- 10:08Speaker 4: That's cool.
- 10:09Speaker 2: It's not old, that's just boring.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Tomato, Tomato.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Oh, that is really accurate.

- 13:01Speaker 1: pre owned vehicle. You can also lease those as well,
- 13:03Speaker 1: save a lot of money. That's how I started out leasing.
- 13:05Speaker 1: So time to do getting a new vehicle the no
- 13:08Speaker 1: hassleway with our friends from Fairleas who drive the treos
- 13:12Speaker 1: five days a week. Go to fairlease dot org. Once again,
- 13:16Speaker 1: that is Fairleas dot org. We were talking earlier about
- 13:20Speaker 1: how scary it is to not only realize, but to
- 13:24Speaker 1: say out loud, to admit that I'm old or at least,
- 13:29Speaker 1: you know, getting older. But what are you afraid of? Well,
- 13:35Speaker 1: someone did a study and they asked everybody what are
- 13:39Speaker 1: you afraid of? And a new survey of three thousand Americans,
- 13:44Speaker 1: only three percent of people claim to be actually fearless,
- 13:49Speaker 1: which means ninety seven percent of people are afraid of something.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Before we get into what the ninety seven percent are
- 13:56Speaker 1: afraid of, is that really possible for three percent of
- 14:00Speaker 1: people in a survey to say they're not afraid of anything,
- 14:04Speaker 1: or they just you know fully, I mean, I think
- 14:11Speaker 1: if you put a live Tyrannosaurus serex right in front
- 14:14Speaker 1: of them, they'd probably be afraid. If you put them
- 14:20Speaker 1: in the middle of the ocean encircled by hundreds of sharks,
- 14:24Speaker 1: I think they'd be a little, you know, worried.
- 14:29Speaker 3: But three percent of the population, and this is a
- 14:32Speaker 3: very conservative guess, are complete idiots.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Okay, I can't argue that. I think that's an excellent point.
- 14:39Speaker 1: And now let's move on to the other ninety seven percent.
- 14:44Speaker 1: They gave people a list of common fears and ask
- 14:47Speaker 1: them to rate their discomfort level. Then they mapped their
- 14:50Speaker 1: results by state. Guys, what do you think in a
- 14:55Speaker 1: poll of three thousand Americans. In a poll of three
- 14:59Speaker 1: thousand Americans, what do you think the number one fear is?
- 15:06Speaker 4: I would have thought you said it earlier with spiders,
- 15:09Speaker 4: just as a common fear.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Think bigger, not physically bigger, just not large.
- 15:15Speaker 4: Writers.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Yeah, like perspective, enough money for retirement. I'm not afraid
- 15:25Speaker 1: of that. I want that. I want that now.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Well they don't have enough?
- 15:29Speaker 1: Oh then yeah, yeah, here's a hint. I don't think
- 15:32Speaker 1: anyone will ever truly have enough unless you're, you know,
- 15:35Speaker 1: just super wealthy. Give up is In a survey of
- 15:41Speaker 1: three thousand Americans, the number one fear is death. It
- 15:46Speaker 1: was the highest fear factor in seventeen states, including our
- 15:50Speaker 1: great state of Texas. In addition to the state of Texas,
- 15:54Speaker 1: states that said fear of death is number one in
- 15:57Speaker 1: their books Washington State, California, Nevada, Colorado, Minnesota, Ohio, New York, Tennessee,
- 16:04Speaker 1: and Florida. It'd be interesting to see the states that
- 16:09Speaker 1: border Florida if they're number one. Fear is Florida. In fact,
- 16:14Speaker 1: let me look at the map real quick and see.
- 16:16Speaker 8: Uh.
- 16:17Speaker 1: In Georgia they are afraid of heights, and Alabama is
- 16:23Speaker 1: afraid of death, just like the Great State of Texas.
- 16:27Speaker 1: It doesn't say that they're afraid of people from Mississippi,
- 16:31Speaker 1: although I think that might have come in second.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Or ancestry dot Com.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Was it the.
- 16:41Speaker 1: That's that's that's dangerous territory? To be sure, I wonder
- 16:45Speaker 1: if that's the reason why the entire board of directors
- 16:48Speaker 1: of twenty three and me quit because they because someone's
- 16:51Speaker 1: strategy was, Hey, we need to get into Alabama and
- 16:53Speaker 1: do which the whole board said, no, we don't. Yeah.
- 16:57Speaker 1: The number one fear is death. Number two fear is
- 17:00Speaker 1: heights that got the most votes in eight states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maryland, Virginia,
- 17:05Speaker 1: and Georgia. Number three fear is snakes. Six states said
- 17:10Speaker 1: they're afraid of snakes the most. That includes Mississippi, Maine, Utah,
- 17:13Speaker 1: North Carolina, and West Virginia. The number four fear that
- 17:17Speaker 1: people are afraid of is public speaking and enclosed spaces,
- 17:21Speaker 1: not the two at the same time. They just tied.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Of course, I guess if you're in I guess if
- 17:25Speaker 1: you're doing a public speaking gig in an enclosed space.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I don't know if that would make it harder or
- 17:29Speaker 1: more difficult. Or just combined your phobias. The number six
- 17:33Speaker 1: fear is tied also between failure and spiders, and that's
- 17:39Speaker 1: pretty much it. Those are most the fears slash phobias
- 17:46Speaker 1: that we have in the United States. And you know,
- 17:48Speaker 1: in a couple of those are death related, like fear
- 17:51Speaker 1: of heights. It's not so much the fear of the height, really,
- 17:55Speaker 1: is it, Or is it that the idea of falling
- 17:57Speaker 1: off and in dying.
- 17:59Speaker 4: I don't think death and all the rest of those
- 18:02Speaker 4: are like on the same level, you know, because we're
- 18:05Speaker 4: kind of pre programmed to have that, you know, in
- 18:10Speaker 4: the survival instinct. So is it a fear of death
- 18:14Speaker 4: that's healthy or is it a fear of death that
- 18:17Speaker 4: actually affects the way you do things in life to
- 18:20Speaker 4: the point to where you're afraid to move around, go outside,
- 18:23Speaker 4: do things, take any risks that kind of thing.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Well, I think I think what you're describing there is
- 18:26Speaker 1: the ninety seven percent we were talking about that have
- 18:30Speaker 1: admitted to having some type of fear. The desire to
- 18:34Speaker 1: stay alive at a survival at an instinctual level is
- 18:38Speaker 1: you know pretty much in all of those people. Some
- 18:42Speaker 1: people have it to a catatonic state where they don't
- 18:44Speaker 1: want to do anything dangerous whatsoever. But then we go
- 18:47Speaker 1: back to the three percent of idiots that Tray brought up,
- 18:49Speaker 1: in which case they just have no care in the
- 18:51Speaker 1: world and they'll jump off mountains and stuff, and we
- 18:53Speaker 1: call them, you know, base.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Jumpers are extreme sports people, right.
- 19:01Speaker 1: We also call them dying extremely young sometimes. Yes, what
- 19:09Speaker 1: is your greatest fear?
- 19:12Speaker 3: I'm claustrophobic, so in closed spaces, anything like that, that's
- 19:19Speaker 3: my number one fear. Any movie where someone like gets
- 19:23Speaker 3: buried alive or something like that, it's hard for me
- 19:26Speaker 3: to even watch.
- 19:28Speaker 1: That's yeah, I'm with you there. I think that's one
- 19:29Speaker 1: of the I don't even know the name of the movie,
- 19:31Speaker 1: but that's the reason why. One of the few movies
- 19:33Speaker 1: that Ryan Reynolds has done that I haven't seen is
- 19:36Speaker 1: the one where he gets buried alive. It's also the same.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I'm also worried about getting eaten by something, so I've
- 19:44Speaker 1: never seen open water. I know that ending. Jerry, what
- 19:50Speaker 1: are you afraid of?
- 19:54Speaker 4: I mean, I have two really big ones. One is
- 19:58Speaker 4: I've been told many times is very strange. I really
- 20:01Speaker 4: have a fear of surgery, having to go into surgery.
- 20:06Speaker 4: There's something about the thought of being put out and
- 20:11Speaker 4: having someone expose my organs to daylight that I I
- 20:18Speaker 4: can't handle the thought of it. I just I can't.
- 20:21Speaker 4: If anything ever happened and I had to have a
- 20:22Speaker 4: major surgery, man, you might have to anesthetize me just
- 20:26Speaker 4: to get me to the hospital.
- 20:29Speaker 1: So what if your guts are already hanging out like
- 20:31Speaker 1: it's a really bad car wreck, and then are you
- 20:33Speaker 1: still going to be a little worried about it? Are
- 20:35Speaker 1: you like, well, you know what, the daylight's already seen them.
- 20:37Speaker 1: So what's you know?
- 20:38Speaker 4: You know, if we're in that situation, then you know
- 20:40Speaker 4: we'll I can probably make some concessions there. And what's
- 20:43Speaker 4: the other fear being truly alone?
- 20:49Speaker 1: Well, Jerry, as long as you're in the tree house,
- 20:52Speaker 1: you are never truly alone, thank you, except for right
- 20:58Speaker 1: now because we have to go to commercial.
- 21:10Speaker 9: You're listening to the Treehouse.
- 21:13Speaker 10: Visit us online that Treehouse on air dot com.

- 21:36Speaker 1: house in Dallas, Jacqueline, you came out a few times
- 21:39Speaker 1: to help us with some issues, and your response time
- 21:43Speaker 1: was phenomenal. And it wasn't just because it was me.
- 21:45Speaker 1: It was because that's the kind of company you run.
- 21:48Speaker 1: You go out of your way trying to help every
- 21:50Speaker 1: client and try to get there as soon as you can.
- 21:52Speaker 8: Well, I mean the reality of it is is that
- 21:55Speaker 8: plumbing is unfortunately a need and not so much a want. Yes,
- 21:58Speaker 8: you can want to remodel the bathroom and that's not pressing,
- 22:02Speaker 8: but typically when it comes to service or leak investigations,
- 22:06Speaker 8: et cetera, et cetera. If you've got to stoppage on
- 22:08Speaker 8: the mainline and you don't know and you keep putting
- 22:13Speaker 8: liquid or you know, waste into the drains, if it
- 22:18Speaker 8: has nowhere to go, it will come back in the
- 22:20Speaker 8: house and at that point in time, it's no longer
- 22:23Speaker 8: a want, it's a need, and that sort of thing
- 22:25Speaker 8: can't wait. When you have those emergencies, you have got
- 22:30Speaker 8: to figure out how to manage the crew so that
- 22:32Speaker 8: you can have the best response time.
- 22:34Speaker 1: That's right, and they'll show up and they'll do it quickly.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Called Jacqueline from Brooks Plumbing for any and all of
- 22:39Speaker 1: those plumbing wants and needs two one, four, three, six,

- 23:21Speaker 1: or the phone number eight three three Cook DFW. That
- 23:23Speaker 1: is eight three three Cook DFW. We are talking about
- 23:29Speaker 1: America's biggest fears in a recent survey, and that last segment,
- 23:33Speaker 1: ninety seven percent of Americans admitted to having a fear.
- 23:36Speaker 1: The majority of people in the country said their number
- 23:39Speaker 1: one fear is death nine. But some people, you know,
- 23:45Speaker 1: may not necessarily embrace the death itself, but marking it
- 23:50Speaker 1: going into the afterlife in new and inventive and special ways.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I say that because I believe right here in the treehouse.
- 23:57Speaker 1: We have spotted what might be a new few trend. Okay,
- 24:03Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you about a heart warming moment
- 24:06Speaker 1: that a family sent off their beloved grandfather by putting
- 24:09Speaker 1: his ashes on some fireworks. Page Anderson gathered her family
- 24:14Speaker 1: at a nearby beach to mark the life of her
- 24:17Speaker 1: granddad Tom. Miss Anderson said, our whole family was really
- 24:22Speaker 1: close to him. We all have so many individual memories
- 24:25Speaker 1: with him, which is just amazing. She said. He used
- 24:31Speaker 1: to call me kroc because he used to tell me
- 24:33Speaker 1: that crocodiles lived in the bottom of his garden when
- 24:36Speaker 1: I was small. A little odd there, but whatever. She
- 24:39Speaker 1: also went on to say that Grandpa used to say
- 24:41Speaker 1: he wanted a Viking burial, which obviously is very illegal now,
- 24:46Speaker 1: but he liked fireworks, so they thought this would be
- 24:48Speaker 1: the next best thing. She said. We looked into doing
- 24:52Speaker 1: it with a company, but it was too pricey and
- 24:54Speaker 1: he was very frugal with his money, so he would
- 24:56Speaker 1: have told us to just do it ourselves. So that's
- 24:58Speaker 1: what they did. The fire works was covered in vasiline
- 25:01Speaker 1: and then dipped in the ashes, so the ashes covered
- 25:03Speaker 1: the top of the fireworks. Oh, this is like a
- 25:05Speaker 1: Diddy funeral, thank you they can be one, and the
- 25:15Speaker 1: same page goes on to say only way we could
- 25:18Speaker 1: think to do it, and it worked extremely meaningful. We
- 25:21Speaker 1: all felt he was there with us and it was
- 25:23Speaker 1: just the most amazing. It was just the most emotional
- 25:26Speaker 1: way to say goodbye. She said, It's not for everyone,
- 25:29Speaker 1: but it really is a wonderful send off as someone
- 25:32Speaker 1: that I think would be really cool me. I think
- 25:36Speaker 1: you'd be really cool to be sent off with a
- 25:38Speaker 1: Viking funeral type of thing, or even a Jedi burial
- 25:42Speaker 1: where you're slapped on top of the pyre and torched.
- 25:45Speaker 1: I just it's one of my other fears is being
- 25:48Speaker 1: burned alive. So I just, you know, excuse me a
- 25:51Speaker 1: solid and poked me a few times with the poking stick,
- 25:55Speaker 1: just to really make sure.
- 25:56Speaker 2: I'm out right.
- 25:58Speaker 1: That's realizing now talking about all this. I have a
- 26:01Speaker 1: lot of fears. I have a fear of heights. I
- 26:03Speaker 1: have a fear of being burned alive. They're all death related,
- 26:07Speaker 1: but it's just the manner in which I die that
- 26:09Speaker 1: I'm afraid of. Right, I don't want to fall from
- 26:12Speaker 1: a great height because I got to think about it
- 26:13Speaker 1: all the way down. I think those are the big ones. Burning, falling,
- 26:18Speaker 1: and being eaten.
- 26:20Speaker 4: What about drowning since you live on an island now,
- 26:25Speaker 4: I'm a.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Little worried about that. But I think if given the
- 26:28Speaker 1: other three and I had to choose, that'd be the
- 26:30Speaker 1: one I'd go with. I mean, they're all going to be,
- 26:35Speaker 1: you know, a little panicky, right because you're going to
- 26:39Speaker 1: know what's happening as it's happening, and there's nothing you
- 26:41Speaker 1: can do about it at that time. So yeah, those
- 26:44Speaker 1: are kind of tough. Yeah, So all of a sudden,
- 26:47Speaker 1: I'm starting to feel like I need a fresco.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Not a butterscotch.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I'm not there yet, not there yet, So there you go.
- 26:57Speaker 1: There's a new trend in funerals. To keep your eye
- 26:59Speaker 1: on that that you've heard about right here inside the treos,
- 27:02Speaker 1: and that is attaching Grandpa's ashes to some fireworks using
- 27:06Speaker 1: some masiline, Which that's you got to be careful with
- 27:10Speaker 1: the vasiline because you don't want to get that on
- 27:12Speaker 1: the wick and then what happens if the firework turns
- 27:14Speaker 1: out to be a dud. Yeah, I'd be I'd be
- 27:18Speaker 1: a little worried about putting all the ashes onto one rocket.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I think I'd feel better about putting them on multiples,
- 27:25Speaker 1: just in case you have one that doesn't go off,
- 27:27Speaker 1: or if one that accidentally blows up right there on
- 27:29Speaker 1: the ground. Also, what does it mean if if Grandpa's
- 27:35Speaker 1: ash rocket starts chasing people? Does that mean it's haunted?
- 27:40Speaker 4: Possibly? I mean it depends on the firework. Obviously, you
- 27:43Speaker 4: weren't his favorite.
- 27:46Speaker 1: He always hated tim Sorry getting a phone call.
- 27:52Speaker 4: Oh, I thought that was the closing the bumper. I
- 27:55Speaker 4: was getting into that.
- 27:56Speaker 1: No, No, that's just that's my phone attached or tore console.
- 28:00Speaker 1: So yeah, So now you have a new way to
- 28:01Speaker 1: send off Grandpa. Because when my grandma died, I had
- 28:05Speaker 1: never heard of this until the guy that my aunt
- 28:08Speaker 1: found to do the memorial service at the house did
- 28:11Speaker 1: the balloon releasing thing, and that just I don't even
- 28:15Speaker 1: think my grandmother liked balloons. I remember thinking this is
- 28:18Speaker 1: a weird funeral. I don't remember my grandmother ever being
- 28:21Speaker 1: anywhere near a balloon. But now we're supposed to send
- 28:23Speaker 1: her off into the Great Beyond with some I don't know,
- 28:28Speaker 1: eventual airline debris stuff that's gonna end up stuck in
- 28:33Speaker 1: a power line.
- 28:35Speaker 2: I did.
- 28:35Speaker 3: I did the firework thing for my mom and she
- 28:38Speaker 3: could finally bring joy to people.
- 28:47Speaker 1: She finally did something good in her life.

- 30:27Speaker 1: Plumbing or just hit the website Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com.
- 30:31Speaker 1: That is Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com. I'm doing this
- 30:36Speaker 1: every single day up and through Halloween because I like it.
- 30:39Speaker 1: It's fun, and I think it tells me a lot
- 30:42Speaker 1: about those of us inside the Treehouse, the decisions we
- 30:46Speaker 1: make in a little game we like to call versus,
- 30:50Speaker 1: but not just any verses, because it's leading up to Halloween,
- 30:53Speaker 1: it's spooky versus. So allow me to set the scene
- 31:01Speaker 1: for you. You find yourself in a darkly lit stairwell
- 31:06Speaker 1: and you want to escape, but you're in the middle
- 31:10Speaker 1: of two sets of stairs. You have sets of stairs
- 31:12Speaker 1: going down and sets of stairs going up. In order
- 31:16Speaker 1: to escape, you have a horrific, frightening Halloween villain in
- 31:22Speaker 1: your way. Today on Spooky Verses inside the Treehouse, in
- 31:28Speaker 1: order to escape the darkly stairwell, you must decide between
- 31:33Speaker 1: going upstairs against ghost Face from the Scream movie franchise
- 31:41Speaker 1: or going downstairs against a chainsaw wielding leather Face from
- 31:46Speaker 1: the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie franchise. Gentlemen, welcome to verses.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Which way are you going to go to attempt your
- 31:56Speaker 1: great escape? Feel free to think out loud, Trey. We
- 32:00Speaker 1: will start with you.
- 32:05Speaker 2: I'm gonna abandon my higher ground theory of wow and
- 32:11Speaker 2: I'll take on ghost Face.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Ghost Face, You're going upstairs against ghost Face. This is
- 32:17Speaker 1: really interesting because, yeah, you did say yesterday that in
- 32:21Speaker 1: all of these that I've put you through, you've chosen
- 32:25Speaker 1: to go downstairs mainly because you want to have the
- 32:28Speaker 1: high ground and suns Sue would be proud of you,
- 32:30Speaker 1: along with every Civil War era general. But now you've
- 32:35Speaker 1: abandoned it. So why do you abandon the high ground
- 32:37Speaker 1: against leather Face in favor of going up against ghost Face?
- 32:44Speaker 3: Because going against leather Face and a chainsaw, even if
- 32:47Speaker 3: you get by him, chances are he's gonna get something,
- 32:50Speaker 3: you know, cut something off of you.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Okay, interesting, very good, Jerry. You are up on a
- 32:58Speaker 1: darkly lit stairwell or are you going upstairs against ghost
- 33:01Speaker 1: Face from the screen franchise, or Downstairs against leather Face
- 33:05Speaker 1: from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
- 33:07Speaker 4: Yeah, f that chainsaw. I'm going after ghost Face. I've
- 33:11Speaker 4: almost cut my own leg off with a chainsaw, much
- 33:13Speaker 4: less have somebody chase me with one.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I think we all have little moments like that in
- 33:19Speaker 1: landscaping where either it was like like an almost oops
- 33:23Speaker 1: with a chainsaw. I had one one time with an
- 33:25Speaker 1: axe where I was like, man, that was reminded real quick,
- 33:28Speaker 1: I shouldn't be playing with axes wearing flip flops. But
- 33:34Speaker 1: I'm with you. I think I think all of us
- 33:37Speaker 1: today are an agreement that we would choose to go
- 33:42Speaker 1: up against ghost Face versus leather Face. My thinking is
- 33:46Speaker 1: a little different than you guys. I just feel like
- 33:50Speaker 1: I would stand a better chance against an emotionally fragile
- 33:58Speaker 1: murderer in ghost Face. Now, granted, I've not seen every
- 34:02Speaker 1: single one of the screen movies. I've seen most of them,
- 34:05Speaker 1: and most of them it was just kind of like
- 34:08Speaker 1: some emoed out boyfriends and stuff, right. I think I
- 34:10Speaker 1: think in one or two, the killer might have been
- 34:12Speaker 1: a girl who was probably in an emotional state, probably
- 34:14Speaker 1: mad at Trey. One of his ex girlfriends. But I
- 34:17Speaker 1: feel like I would stand a better chance against an
- 34:22Speaker 1: angry emo boyfriend wearing a ghost face costume than I
- 34:25Speaker 1: would a depraved chainsaw maniac in leather face who already comes,
- 34:31Speaker 1: you know, dressed for it by wearing the apron, so
- 34:35Speaker 1: he knows he's gonna make a mess. So yeah, I
- 34:37Speaker 1: think put me up against an emo kid versus a
- 34:40Speaker 1: depraved maniac. Do either of you have any additional points
- 34:50Speaker 1: to make as far as upstairs downstairs in this version
- 34:52Speaker 1: of Treehouse versus Ghostface versus leather Face, are you just
- 35:04Speaker 1: rotten with fear?
- 35:06Speaker 2: Well, you know the ghost face I guess to me
- 35:10Speaker 2: the screen movies. You know, it's scary, but not terrifying,
- 35:16Speaker 2: leather Face terrifying.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Interesting. There you go, Jerry, do you feel the same way.
- 35:23Speaker 4: You know, you get stabbed a couple of times, you
- 35:25Speaker 4: you pretty good chance that you might still be able
- 35:28Speaker 4: to make it out with that. But not only does goat,
- 35:31Speaker 4: does does leather face have the apron? He's ready for business,
- 35:33Speaker 4: but he's also dressed like somebody that would serve you
- 35:38Speaker 4: with the DPS or at a soup kitchen or you know,
- 35:44Speaker 4: So that's that's already just extra attitude. I don't want
- 35:49Speaker 4: to have to deal with.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Extra attitude. Yeah, I guess. I guess. When it comes
- 35:56Speaker 1: down just to the mask which is scarier, the leather
- 35:59Speaker 1: face which is made of skin, or the ghost face mask.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I think the ghost face mask is super creative. It's
- 36:06Speaker 1: like when Scream came out. I mean, most of all
- 36:09Speaker 1: the scary masks had been done, right. You already had
- 36:12Speaker 1: a pumpkinhead, you had leather face with the skin.
- 36:15Speaker 2: You know.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Jason Vorhees was just crazy, deformed and stuff. Freddy Krueger
- 36:19Speaker 1: was the burn victim. There weren't a whole lot of
- 36:21Speaker 1: other avenues to take. And I'm not even sure how
- 36:25Speaker 1: they came up with the ghost face thing.
- 36:26Speaker 2: I forget.
- 36:29Speaker 4: I think it's very similar to like a face mask
- 36:32Speaker 4: shape that had been around for a while. It's just
- 36:34Speaker 4: more exaggerated.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Oh wait, wasn't it based on was it Van Goes
- 36:38Speaker 1: the screen? Or is that Picasso?
- 36:40Speaker 4: Uh no, it's Vango.
- 36:41Speaker 1: It is Vango.
- 36:42Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, now I have to look it up.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Did we just trip over some art knowledge?
- 36:49Speaker 2: Yes?
- 36:50Speaker 1: Oh no, I don't know if we can have that
- 36:53Speaker 1: in here. I think we have Oh sorry, that is
- 36:56Speaker 1: by Edward Munch, the ghost face painting, the scream, the scream,
- 37:03Speaker 1: the screen. It's by who Edward Munch? Did you just
- 37:07Speaker 1: make us smarter?
- 37:08Speaker 4: Jerry?
- 37:10Speaker 2: Yeah, but but at least it shows we didn't know
- 37:13Speaker 2: what the hell we were talking about with art.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Okay, thank god that was a close.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Right.

- 38:14Speaker 1: said earlier, is Tuesday, October twenty ninth, twenty twenty four.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Let's do some birthdays. Tuv Low is thirty seven today.
- 38:33Speaker 3: Anyone who I I know?
- 38:37Speaker 2: She had a hit song. I cannot think of what
- 38:40Speaker 2: it was though.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Oh it's a she. I thought it was a guy.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Never mind, Oh, I'm thinking tone Loke. I'm not confusing
- 38:46Speaker 1: the two. I just when I when I see tov Low,
- 38:50Speaker 1: I think tone Low, So I just assumed it was
- 38:51Speaker 1: a guy. Didn't realize it was a girl. Okay, never mind.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Look I learned something new today. Along with who the
- 38:56Speaker 1: painter was of the Scream painting.
- 39:02Speaker 4: She is also married to Charlie Twaddle.
- 39:08Speaker 1: He chooses to keep that last name. Do you think
- 39:13Speaker 1: do you think tuv Uh decided to take that name
- 39:16Speaker 1: legally or she just gonna stay with the last name Low,
- 39:20Speaker 1: or is she gonna hyphen it with Low, Waddle or Twaddle? Well?
- 39:24Speaker 1: Was it Twaddle Twaddle? Yeah? I think if that was
- 39:29Speaker 1: my last name, as soon as I was legally able to,
- 39:33Speaker 1: I'd be at the courthouse changing that thing. It's amazing
- 39:37Speaker 1: how some people keep their last names when you just
- 39:39Speaker 1: wonder you want to keep that one? I just anyway.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Other birthdays Today Janet Montgomery, who is doctor Bloom on
- 39:49Speaker 1: New Amsterdam. She's thirty nine Today. Robert De Niro's refirst
- 39:54Speaker 1: smoking son Denny and Meet the parents. John Abrams is
- 39:57Speaker 1: forty seven today. Gabrielle Union turns fifty two. She is
- 40:04Speaker 1: Jessica Alba's partner on the Bad Boys spin off LA's Finest.
- 40:08Speaker 1: I didn't even know that, did you guys know?
- 40:12Speaker 2: Okay?
- 40:12Speaker 1: I knew that they had Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba.
- 40:14Speaker 1: I knew they had a TV show called LA's Finest,
- 40:19Speaker 1: but I didn't realize that it was based on Gabrielle
- 40:22Speaker 1: Union's character in I believe it was Bad Boys two,
- 40:26Speaker 1: where she played Martin Lawrence's sister and then she hooks
- 40:29Speaker 1: up with Will Smith's character Mike Lowry, and then they
- 40:32Speaker 1: have to save her from the Cuban drug lord.
- 40:35Speaker 4: I did not know that.
- 40:36Speaker 2: I did not know that either.
- 40:39Speaker 4: Look at us learning stuff today.
- 40:40Speaker 1: I know this is becoming a habit. We got to
- 40:42Speaker 1: be careful. I don't know if you want to put
- 40:44Speaker 1: this much knowledge into three idiots other birthdays today. She
- 40:50Speaker 1: used to be best known from Beetlejuice or some other
- 40:56Speaker 1: films from the eighties and nineties, But now I think
- 40:59Speaker 1: most of us know when known a writer best as
- 41:02Speaker 1: Joy Spires on Stranger Things, Happy Birthday, when on a
- 41:05Speaker 1: riter she is fifty three today?
- 41:08Speaker 2: That in some shoplifting and the.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Shoplifting, Yeah, yeah, that was that was a big thing.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Randy Jackson from Tito and the Jacksons is sixty three.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Dan Castellnetta from the Simpsons. So the Simpsons are having
- 41:22Speaker 1: a big birthday. I think it was last week, got
- 41:26Speaker 1: him brain farting on her name, Dan Castelenetta. Today's his birthday.
- 41:32Speaker 1: He is sixty seven today. Kate Jackson from Charlie's Angels,
- 41:36Speaker 1: the original Charlie's Angels is seventy six today. And finally,
- 41:42Speaker 1: this is a this is a big birthday. This is
- 41:43Speaker 1: a prolific actor. Richard Dreyfuss turns seventy seven today. I'm
- 41:50Speaker 1: gonna put you guys on the spot. What is your
- 41:53Speaker 1: favorite Richard Dreyfus role? Poor Flo Close Encounters of the
- 41:59Speaker 1: Third kind? Very that's a solid one.
- 42:02Speaker 2: You know.
- 42:02Speaker 1: That's a good thing with an actor like Richard Dreyfus
- 42:05Speaker 1: when you say what's this actor's what's this actor's favorite
- 42:09Speaker 1: role of yours? When you can go through their filmography
- 42:12Speaker 1: and go like, yeah, there's this one, there's that one,
- 42:13Speaker 1: and have a difficult time making a choice. That's a
- 42:16Speaker 1: pretty prolific actor. Mister Holland's opus. Damn you, Trey. I
- 42:22Speaker 1: was kind of thinking the same thing. Turn it into
- 42:25Speaker 1: a bunch of old women in the treehouse, mister Holland,
- 42:29Speaker 1: he's making music for his death. Son, give me my
- 42:34Speaker 1: cottage cheeese.
- 42:38Speaker 2: And Jaws is always a good one too.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, you can't. Jaws cannot be denied. Speaking
- 42:46Speaker 1: of Jaws, I meant to ask you guys this the
- 42:49Speaker 1: other day on masket till you now put you on
- 42:51Speaker 1: the spot again. Last year we did a little Halloween
- 42:54Speaker 1: special called Jowls. Uh in no way copyright infringing on
- 42:59Speaker 1: Jaws or copyright infringing on the Great Carol Burnett bit.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Jowls just a little bit. But we had our Halloween
- 43:07Speaker 1: special last year called Jowels, in which Trey portrayed the
- 43:12Speaker 1: Richard Dreyfus Matt Hooper role. And so I guess my
- 43:17Speaker 1: question to you guys is do we played again this year?
- 43:20Speaker 1: Is that something that you think people want to hear
- 43:22Speaker 1: again or did they miss it?
- 43:23Speaker 8: Like?
- 43:23Speaker 1: I don't know. I could ask the listeners, but you
- 43:25Speaker 1: guys are right in front of me, so it's easier,
- 43:26Speaker 1: right I ask you. Do we replay Gowels this year?
- 43:28Speaker 4: Absolutely?
- 43:30Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 43:31Speaker 1: I mean I feel that way, but that's only because
- 43:33Speaker 1: I spent like two weeks doing the audio post production
- 43:36Speaker 1: on it, and I'm looking for any excuse I can
- 43:39Speaker 1: to play that thing so other people get a chance
- 43:41Speaker 1: to hear it more than once.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Absolutely, we should play it.
- 43:45Speaker 4: Thank you. Audience is expanding. There's new folks maybe that
- 43:48Speaker 4: haven't heard it. For sure that haven't heard it.
- 43:51Speaker 1: And if you truly want to know how to design
- 43:57Speaker 1: and foley some sound into what a shark blowing up
- 44:01Speaker 1: sounds like?
- 44:06Speaker 2: You know?
- 44:06Speaker 6: Uh?
- 44:06Speaker 1: Was it Phil Spector that created the wall of sound? Yes,
- 44:10Speaker 1: I took it up a notch.
- 44:16Speaker 5: You're in the treehouse. Visit us online.

- 44:52Speaker 1: The funds, of course benefit the families of fallen police
- 44:56Speaker 1: officers and firefighters who've been killed in the line of
- 44:59Speaker 1: duty in North Tech. Go to Treehouse on Air dot

- 45:07Speaker 1: final story that I've been meaning to tell you about
- 45:09Speaker 1: for a while now, and I'm finally gonna get to it. Okay,
- 45:12Speaker 1: here we go. Did you guys ever have a Guinness
- 45:16Speaker 1: Book of World Records when you were growing up? I did.
- 45:18Speaker 1: I love that thing. It was like the ultimate coffee
- 45:21Speaker 1: table book. You just kind of skim through it a
- 45:23Speaker 1: bunch and find different world records that you didn't know existed.
- 45:28Speaker 1: I remember one. I don't remember what the link was,
- 45:30Speaker 1: but I remember there was a guy somewhere that had
- 45:32Speaker 1: the longest fingernails in history, you know. And then there's
- 45:35Speaker 1: like more obvious things like the fastest man and you know,
- 45:39Speaker 1: true achievements in human history that the Guinness Book of
- 45:43Speaker 1: World Records has documented. And then there's some other world
- 45:48Speaker 1: records that make you go really, and this is one
- 45:52Speaker 1: of those. A group in Japan snagged the world record recently.
- 45:58Speaker 1: And I know you might be, well, geez Dan, what
- 46:02Speaker 1: world record is Japan super concerned with? Well, a group
- 46:07Speaker 1: in Japan just set a world record for the most
- 46:09Speaker 1: people pointing at the sky all at once. That's all
- 46:12Speaker 1: they did. They just pointed straight up with one finger
- 46:15Speaker 1: and held it for thirty seconds. I think, you know,
- 46:18Speaker 1: City of New York may have something to say about that,
- 46:21Speaker 1: but I digress. And the number of people it took
- 46:25Speaker 1: to point at the sky to make and set a
- 46:28Speaker 1: Guinness World record five hundred and seven. Japan also holds
- 46:35Speaker 1: at least two more world records for pointing most photos
- 46:38Speaker 1: of people pointing in the air uploaded to a website
- 46:41Speaker 1: in one hour, and another for the most uploaded to
- 46:44Speaker 1: Facebook in one hour and again. Most recently, Japan snagged
- 46:48Speaker 1: the world record for the most people pointing at the
- 46:50Speaker 1: sky all at once, and.
- 46:53Speaker 11: That was only.
- 46:55Speaker 1: What is it, Jerry?
- 46:56Speaker 4: That was only five hundred and something, five hundred and
- 46:59Speaker 4: seven people. I mean, we see more than that. Never
- 47:01Speaker 4: got Zilla movie.
- 47:04Speaker 1: But gee, I wonder why Japan is so concerned about
- 47:08Speaker 1: pointing at the sky. Jerry, don't get it yet. Hang on, Jerry,
- 47:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you a hint. Hang on, hang on,
- 47:29Speaker 1: here's your hint. Ready.
- 47:31Speaker 4: Mm hmmm.
- 47:33Speaker 10: Mm hm.
- 47:41Speaker 4: Oh my god, that's.
- 47:43Speaker 1: The wrong goddamn button.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Look, that huge ball of radiation.
- 47:50Speaker 1: H ruined my own goddamn punchline. To be fair, I'd
- 48:04Speaker 1: be pretty anxious about it as well. All right, that'll
- 48:09Speaker 1: do it for us inside the treehouse today. Thanks for
- 48:11Speaker 1: hanging out with us. We will see you.
