- 0:25Speaker 1: Hi, and welcome back the Pinky Boo Hauntings. I'll be
- 0:29Speaker 1: your witchy host Shy, and I'll be your guide to
- 0:32Speaker 1: all things paranormal, weird and spooky. Guess who finally got
- 0:38Speaker 1: to this episode? I know I should have done it
- 0:42Speaker 1: like a month ago, but with the retrograde throw at
- 0:45Speaker 1: me for a loop the last week of it, and
- 0:48Speaker 1: just some personal life stuff that was going on, it's
- 0:52Speaker 1: kind of made it hard to sit down and write
- 0:54Speaker 1: the whole script. While I was excited for this deep
- 0:58Speaker 1: dive and still I am, I guess everything in my
- 1:02Speaker 1: life was making it hard to actually focus on this,
- 1:07Speaker 1: at least in a way that I was happy with. Oh, also,
- 1:14Speaker 1: it's my one year anniversary and it's my birthday. Well
- 1:19Speaker 1: technically this will be coming out the day before, but
- 1:22Speaker 1: still I can't believe I've been doing this for a
- 1:25Speaker 1: whole year now. I also still can't believe anyone is
- 1:29Speaker 1: listening to me. I really do want to thank you
- 1:32Speaker 1: guys from the bottom of my heart or deciding to
- 1:35Speaker 1: check out my podcast and for sticking around. I hope
- 1:39Speaker 1: you continue to hang out enjoying the cove and meetings
- 1:43Speaker 1: every week, and I hope I don't end up scaring
- 1:47Speaker 1: you too much along the way. I'll try to keep
- 1:50Speaker 1: improving with my content so that I can bring you
- 1:54Speaker 1: the best episodes every week i possibly can. Anyways, I
- 2:00Speaker 1: know you've already seen the title, and if you follow
- 2:04Speaker 1: me on my socials, you might have saw my post
- 2:07Speaker 1: hinting at it. We're talking about Mothman today. Mothman has
- 2:14Speaker 1: been getting a lot of attention for years now. He's
- 2:17Speaker 1: gotten so much love lately that I think when it
- 2:20Speaker 1: comes to cryptos, he's probably up there with Bigfoot now.
- 2:25Speaker 1: He even has his own build a bear now, and
- 2:28Speaker 1: people love him so much that thing sold out fast
- 2:32Speaker 1: every time he came back into Stock, which as someone
- 2:37Speaker 1: that wanted him like day one, it drove me crazy
- 2:42Speaker 1: trying to get my own because every time he come
- 2:46Speaker 1: back into stock I was always too broke to get him,
- 2:51Speaker 1: so I think it took me a few tries to
- 2:53Speaker 1: finally get him. Also, being a little financially irresponsible, and
- 2:59Speaker 1: I just ended up using my credit card. Okay, I
- 3:04Speaker 1: know that isn't like the worst thing I could have done,
- 3:07Speaker 1: but I do try to only use my credit card
- 3:10Speaker 1: for emergencies, so I always beat myself up when I
- 3:13Speaker 1: do stuff like that. Anyways, back to the man of
- 3:18Speaker 1: the hour, mob man, we're going to talk about what
- 3:22Speaker 1: he might be, where he came from, and of course sightings.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Speaking of sightings, why don't we begin this deep dive
- 3:31Speaker 1: off with the one that started it all. It's a cold,
- 3:38Speaker 1: peaceful fall night in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. It's the
- 3:43Speaker 1: nineteen sixties, in the middle of November, when two couples
- 3:48Speaker 1: decided to take a drive around the town. You're all
- 3:52Speaker 1: enjoying a midnight drive in your friend's black fifty seven
- 3:56Speaker 1: Chevy bel Air. You're joking, laughing, listening to music, and
- 4:01Speaker 1: just enjoying each other's company. While you are cruising around
- 4:05Speaker 1: outside of town in what is known as a TNT area,
- 4:10Speaker 1: something in the air seems to shift. You see what
- 4:15Speaker 1: appears to be a person standing on the side of
- 4:18Speaker 1: the road, which is strange because this isn't a place
- 4:23Speaker 1: people are known to hang around, especially at this hour,
- 4:29Speaker 1: So you keep your eye on them, Not sure what
- 4:32Speaker 1: to think of them, you study them, and the more
- 4:36Speaker 1: you do, the more you realize something is definitely wrong here.
- 4:42Speaker 1: The car is getting closer and closer to this being.
- 4:46Speaker 1: The more it does, the more you notice more of
- 4:49Speaker 1: its features. This thing looks humanoid, but not At the
- 4:53Speaker 1: same time, it's tall, probably around six to seven feet.
- 5:00Speaker 1: That's not all. This thing on the side of the
- 5:04Speaker 1: road appears to have wings. No, that's impossible, you think
- 5:09Speaker 1: to yourself, how could something so large and human like
- 5:14Speaker 1: have wings? If that wasn't enough, you also see red eyes,
- 5:20Speaker 1: piercing red eyes, and they're glowing. Your friend that was
- 5:26Speaker 1: driving stops the car. He's so shocked by what he's seeing.
- 5:31Speaker 1: He feels the knee to examine what is before his eyes,
- 5:35Speaker 1: probably out of disbelief. You all are in disbelief, and
- 5:41Speaker 1: while you all are looking at this thing, time slows down.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Seconds feel like minutes, and it feels like you've been
- 5:49Speaker 1: staring at this being forever now. Then suddenly you all
- 5:55Speaker 1: snap back into reality when your friend that was driving
- 5:58Speaker 1: hit the gas in a panic, he pushes his car
- 6:02Speaker 1: to its limits. At this point, you think you must
- 6:05Speaker 1: be in the clear of this thing. Right, the car
- 6:09Speaker 1: is going as fast as it can, and you figure
- 6:12Speaker 1: nothing could meet that speed even if it had wings. Right,
- 6:18Speaker 1: while you are driving away from this being, you look back,
- 6:22Speaker 1: hoping it's staying back where you saw it. That's when
- 6:26Speaker 1: you see it spread its wings. It begins to flap
- 6:30Speaker 1: its massive wings, lifting itself into the air. Its wingspan
- 6:35Speaker 1: is huge and nothing like you've seen before. But the
- 6:42Speaker 1: scariest part of all of this is when you realize
- 6:45Speaker 1: it was heading right for you. You want to believe there
- 6:50Speaker 1: is no way this thing could ever catch up to you,
- 6:53Speaker 1: even if it is heading your way. You want to
- 6:57Speaker 1: believe you were safe. Unfortunately, you don't get to live
- 7:02Speaker 1: in that denial for too long. You all see this
- 7:07Speaker 1: thing picking up speed and closing the gap between you
- 7:10Speaker 1: and it. This thing has to be going over one
- 7:14Speaker 1: hundred miles per hour. This thing has made its way
- 7:18Speaker 1: to the car and is following close behind, making a
- 7:23Speaker 1: screeching sound all the while. It continue to terrorize the
- 7:29Speaker 1: four of you in the car down Route sixty two,
- 7:34Speaker 1: at least until you make it past the city limits.
- 7:37Speaker 1: For some strange reason, it won't pass into town. This
- 7:44Speaker 1: is what two couples, Roger and Linda Scarsbury and Steven
- 7:49Speaker 1: Mary Mollett, have said to experience on November fifteenth, nineteen
- 7:54Speaker 1: sixty six. Their encounter is accounted as the first sighting
- 7:59Speaker 1: of mo Offman. They were just outside of the city
- 8:02Speaker 1: limits heading back home to Point Pleasant, and when they
- 8:06Speaker 1: were just about to pass by the t Inty area,
- 8:10Speaker 1: their night switched from a fun night out into a
- 8:13Speaker 1: nightmare no one would ever want to experience themselves. Once
- 8:20Speaker 1: they were in Point Pleasant, rogers stopped the car on
- 8:23Speaker 1: the side of the road. They all were so confused
- 8:27Speaker 1: and scared, not understanding what they saw or how to
- 8:31Speaker 1: process it. They also wonder if they should call the police,
- 8:36Speaker 1: but came to the conclusion that no one would believe them.
- 8:41Speaker 1: So the teenagers did what teenagers do. They decided to
- 8:46Speaker 1: do something crazy and reckless. They decided to turn around
- 8:52Speaker 1: and see if they could find the creature again, probably
- 8:57Speaker 1: figuring that if they came in contact with it once again,
- 9:02Speaker 1: they'd be able to truly believe what they saw just
- 9:04Speaker 1: a moment ago, so they bravely went back out to
- 9:10Speaker 1: the T and T area. When they got back to
- 9:13Speaker 1: that area, they unfortunately saw Mofman once again. It leapt
- 9:19Speaker 1: over the car and disappeared into a nearby field. I
- 9:25Speaker 1: know this would be so scary if you were having
- 9:28Speaker 1: to actually experience this yourself, but from an outsider's perspective,
- 9:34Speaker 1: it doesn't seem like mofman really meant them any harm.
- 9:38Speaker 1: He just seemed like he wanted to be left alone,
- 9:42Speaker 1: especially from the second encounter. But with that said, the
- 9:49Speaker 1: two couples were once again scared out of their minds
- 9:53Speaker 1: and sped back to town. This time they drove to
- 9:58Speaker 1: a diner called Tiny's Diner. And I just know that
- 10:03Speaker 1: a large, mean looking man that is actually a teddy
- 10:06Speaker 1: bear on that place. That's usually who has a nickname
- 10:10Speaker 1: like Timing. Once the teenagers got into the diner, they
- 10:16Speaker 1: told the person working there to call the police. Sheriff
- 10:20Speaker 1: George Johnson and Deputy Miller Holston came out to talk
- 10:26Speaker 1: to the teenagers. They told them all about what they
- 10:29Speaker 1: saw and endured. They told them how they saw a
- 10:34Speaker 1: huge black figure with glowing red eyes. Linda Scarsbury, being
- 10:42Speaker 1: in the front seat, described it as a slender, muscular
- 10:45Speaker 1: man who had to be around seven feet tall and
- 10:50Speaker 1: had large white wings. She also said that she couldn't
- 10:55Speaker 1: make out a face because of its hypnotic glowing eyes.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Roger Scarsbury also drew them a picture of what he saw.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I'll try my best to describe this thing, or you
- 11:08Speaker 1: could just go look it up. I won't judge you.
- 11:11Speaker 1: This picture looked like a strange black figure with very
- 11:15Speaker 1: little details. It was slender with a little meat on it.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Like Linda explained, it also didn't seem to have a
- 11:24Speaker 1: face or head per se. Where you would expect a
- 11:28Speaker 1: head to be, there seems to be mirrored wing like
- 11:32Speaker 1: shapes draping down to its legs, and within the arches
- 11:37Speaker 1: of what I presume to be the wings are two
- 11:41Speaker 1: very large circles. I do pretty much understand what he
- 11:46Speaker 1: was trying to draw, but this drawing has always annoyed me.
- 11:50Speaker 1: I think it's because what is supposed to be the
- 11:53Speaker 1: eyes makes no sense with the rest of the body.
- 11:56Speaker 1: It makes it seem like the eyes are in the
- 11:59Speaker 1: wings and that this thing has no head, which I mean,
- 12:04Speaker 1: I guess could have been possible, but it still annoys me.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Oh you know what else, This drawing a mofman has
- 12:13Speaker 1: always made me think of cousin it but with eyes.
- 12:17Speaker 1: All right, I'm done. I just need to get that
- 12:20Speaker 1: off my chest. Since I'm talking about the drawing, I'll
- 12:23Speaker 1: get back on track now. The artists and me just
- 12:26Speaker 1: needed event. After hearing their accounts, the two went down
- 12:32Speaker 1: to the TNT area to investigate. After a good search
- 12:37Speaker 1: of the area, they came back empty handed. Point Pleasant,
- 12:43Speaker 1: being a small town, word got out fast about the
- 12:47Speaker 1: four being attacked by a winged creature that night. In
- 12:51Speaker 1: the very next day, they held a press conference. On
- 12:55Speaker 1: November sixteenth, nineteen sixty six, the Point Pleasant Register published
- 13:00Speaker 1: an article titled Pupple see man sized bird creature something.
- 13:08Speaker 1: This article seemed to open the floodgates, and people started
- 13:12Speaker 1: reporting their past sightings as well as future ones. The
- 13:16Speaker 1: report seemed to make others feel safe in talking about
- 13:20Speaker 1: the strange things they have seen as well. So while
- 13:25Speaker 1: the couples are credited as the first sighting, there were
- 13:29Speaker 1: definitely sightings before them. Those people just seemed too scared
- 13:34Speaker 1: to come forward until after they found out they weren't
- 13:37Speaker 1: alone in their experience. This point, the locals were just
- 13:42Speaker 1: calling the being the bird. It wasn't until the Herald
- 13:47Speaker 1: Dispatch in Huffington, West Virginia, that Mothman officially got his name.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Inspired by the hit show at the time, Batman sixty six,
- 13:57Speaker 1: they printed their article with the title bird Plane or Batman.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Mason countyons hunt Mothman. From there, Mothman had fully been
- 14:11Speaker 1: born as we know him today. The legend of the
- 14:16Speaker 1: Mothman continues to spread and reports continued to come in,
- 14:22Speaker 1: and just over a year after the original reported sighting,
- 14:27Speaker 1: on December fifteenth, nineteen sixty seven, a travesty fell upon
- 14:33Speaker 1: Point Pleasant. The Silver Bridge was put under pressure that
- 14:38Speaker 1: it wasn't built for. When the bridge was first constructed,
- 14:43Speaker 1: it was built with model teas in mind. These cars
- 14:47Speaker 1: were lighter than modern cars, weighing around fifteen hundred pounds
- 14:52Speaker 1: instead of over four thousand pounds. The engineers in charge
- 14:58Speaker 1: of this bridge also didn't seem to have the foresight
- 15:02Speaker 1: to think of what might happen if a part of
- 15:05Speaker 1: the bridge was to fail. If one part of it
- 15:09Speaker 1: was to collapse, the whole bridge was going to follow soup.
- 15:15Speaker 1: So when the bridge was packed with cars, it couldn't
- 15:19Speaker 1: withstand the overbearing weight, and eventually it finally gave out.
- 15:26Speaker 1: It started with an eyebar cracking near the top of
- 15:29Speaker 1: the bridge on the Ohio side. Not long after, the
- 15:34Speaker 1: chain snapped and the bridge gave way. Cars and people
- 15:39Speaker 1: plummeted into the icy waters of the Ohio River below.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Forty six people died from drowning, hyperthermia and being crushed
- 15:49Speaker 1: by falling debris. This horrible incident was the second thing
- 15:55Speaker 1: that put Point Pleasant on the map, with Mockman being
- 15:59Speaker 1: the first. It was easy for some to blame him
- 16:03Speaker 1: for what happened on that bridge, though others seemed to
- 16:07Speaker 1: believe he was more like a warning of what was
- 16:11Speaker 1: to come. They also could not be related at all.
- 16:16Speaker 1: After all, the engineers clearly did a shit job with
- 16:19Speaker 1: the planning of this bridge. It makes the most sense,
- 16:23Speaker 1: and Moufman shouldn't be blamed for it. At most, he
- 16:28Speaker 1: could have been there as a warning, but no matter what.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Mofman started becoming known for being able to predict disasters
- 16:36Speaker 1: right before they happened. People saw that he would be
- 16:40Speaker 1: seen on top of the newly built bridge that replaced
- 16:44Speaker 1: the original Silver Bridge. Two times people have claimed to
- 16:48Speaker 1: see him perched atop the bridge, was two thousand and
- 16:52Speaker 1: nine before the Mexican swine flew and in twenty eleven
- 16:57Speaker 1: before the nuclear disaster and Rejima Japan. So now when
- 17:03Speaker 1: Mofman is spotted, people become fearful of what disaster might
- 17:07Speaker 1: be lurking around the corner, which sadly makes people fearful
- 17:12Speaker 1: of the Mofman. Himself if you can't tell. I think
- 17:16Speaker 1: Mafman might be misunderstood. I know that he chased those couples,
- 17:22Speaker 1: but what if he was just trying to get them
- 17:25Speaker 1: to go away. People say the TNT area is his home,
- 17:30Speaker 1: so it wouldn't be that hard to believe he's trying
- 17:33Speaker 1: to make them leave his home alone. I mean, most
- 17:36Speaker 1: times when he's seen, he's just sitting on a bridge
- 17:40Speaker 1: after all, so it's very likely he's just trying to
- 17:44Speaker 1: exist and even tries to help warm people the best
- 17:48Speaker 1: he can. That's right, you came here for a deep dive,
- 17:53Speaker 1: and instead I'm going to convince you that Mafman isn't
- 17:56Speaker 1: actually bad, that he's just a misunderstood being and maybe
- 18:01Speaker 1: he just wants to help. With all that being said,
- 18:06Speaker 1: who is Mofman and where did he come from? Obviously
- 18:11Speaker 1: we won't come out of this with any real answers,
- 18:15Speaker 1: but we can at least go over some of the theories.
- 18:19Speaker 1: And the best place to start is actually where you think,
- 18:24Speaker 1: the T and T area. Before we can get to that, though,
- 18:29Speaker 1: what is the TNT area? The TNT area was a
- 18:34Speaker 1: relic of its time. Its official name is the Clifton
- 18:39Speaker 1: f mcclinic Wildlife Management Area. I don't know who decided
- 18:44Speaker 1: to name it that, but we got beef, now, Yeah,
- 18:49Speaker 1: I've got beef with a dead guy. Won't be the
- 18:52Speaker 1: first time and probably won't be the last time. I
- 18:55Speaker 1: don't blame the locals for giving it a shorter nickname,
- 18:59Speaker 1: and that's what I will be calling it for the
- 19:00Speaker 1: rest of this episode anyways. The T and T Area
- 19:06Speaker 1: is a naturalized area located in Masson County, just five
- 19:10Speaker 1: miles away from Point Pleasant. It was actually located within
- 19:15Speaker 1: the old wartime industrial land on three thousand, six hundred
- 19:20Speaker 1: and fifty five acres. Now it is the home of farmlands, woodlands,
- 19:26Speaker 1: and wetlands. But the strangest thing within this area, and
- 19:31Speaker 1: probably the origins of its nickname, is that there are
- 19:35Speaker 1: still explosives stored here. And I'm sure you can guess
- 19:39Speaker 1: the next part, but where these explosives were stored is
- 19:44Speaker 1: actually in the former World War Two mumissions plants and
- 19:49Speaker 1: built around that area are dome shaped bunkers that were
- 19:54Speaker 1: built under the earth. The entrance was above ground with
- 19:58Speaker 1: a simple door in the The man made heel is
- 20:02Speaker 1: actually one of those bunkers that the two couples first
- 20:05Speaker 1: saw Mofman. It could have been where he was staying
- 20:09Speaker 1: at the time. Maybe he even hops between the bunkers
- 20:13Speaker 1: to keep from being seen most of the time. No
- 20:17Speaker 1: one is really sure where he comes and goes for sure.
- 20:21Speaker 1: But with so many bunkers scattered around the T and
- 20:24Speaker 1: T area, is it really that hard to believe he
- 20:27Speaker 1: could be doing just that If he's scared of people,
- 20:32Speaker 1: I could see him wanting to stay away from people
- 20:34Speaker 1: for the most part. Well, now we have an idea
- 20:40Speaker 1: of where he's living, But what about the Man of
- 20:44Speaker 1: the Hour himself? What could he be? There are a
- 20:50Speaker 1: few theories people have of what Mofman is. The first
- 20:56Speaker 1: is the most popular for those who don't believe in Mofman.
- 21:00Speaker 1: They claim that every sighting of this creature was actually
- 21:04Speaker 1: just a large bird that people mistake for a monstrous being.
- 21:10Speaker 1: This theory first seemed to appear not long after the
- 21:13Speaker 1: most known sighting. Sheriff Johnson believed that what the teens
- 21:19Speaker 1: saw that night was actually just an unusually large green heron.
- 21:26Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie when I saw this, I had
- 21:30Speaker 1: to see what this bird even looked like, because I
- 21:33Speaker 1: figured it must have been a large bird naturally, but no,
- 21:39Speaker 1: these birds are small, like really small. They're about seventeen
- 21:44Speaker 1: inches in all and with a wingspan of no more
- 21:48Speaker 1: than twenty seven inches wide. Even if this was an
- 21:52Speaker 1: abnormally large one, I can't imagine it ever got to
- 21:57Speaker 1: six feet tall. I mean, I understand they could have
- 22:03Speaker 1: been wrong about Mofman's height, but again I can't understand
- 22:07Speaker 1: how he thought it could have been such a small bird.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I think he just wanted to find a more normal
- 22:14Speaker 1: explanation to maybe ease his own fears. I do understand
- 22:19Speaker 1: what people like to use this as the explanation, and
- 22:22Speaker 1: could easily make sense of the glowing eyes too. Animals
- 22:27Speaker 1: can have very reflective eyes that when hit with light,
- 22:31Speaker 1: couldn't make them seem like they're glowing. But the other
- 22:35Speaker 1: things people describe in their sightings, I don't think they
- 22:39Speaker 1: really line up with the bird even if it wasn't now,
- 22:44Speaker 1: I just don't see this as a solid explanation, at
- 22:48Speaker 1: least like those that want to brush people's encounters off
- 22:53Speaker 1: think it is another theory that people have of what
- 22:59Speaker 1: Mofman could be. Is more connected to the land's path
- 23:04Speaker 1: with such a strange and huge creature. There is really
- 23:08Speaker 1: only one explanation for how something like that could be.
- 23:13Speaker 1: It was a mutated animal or a freakish experiment gone wrong. Okay, well,
- 23:18Speaker 1: I guess that was more like two things it could be,
- 23:22Speaker 1: but both come from the same idea, so I'm counting
- 23:25Speaker 1: it as one. See people believe that something shady might
- 23:31Speaker 1: have been going on in the TNT area. Back during
- 23:34Speaker 1: World War Two. It said that there was a secret
- 23:39Speaker 1: laboratory that the government was doing experiments to help aid
- 23:43Speaker 1: in the war, that they were making monster like creatures
- 23:47Speaker 1: in that lab. After the war, the land was abandoned,
- 23:52Speaker 1: which of course would mean the lab with the experiment
- 23:55Speaker 1: still inside would have been too. Mofman would have been
- 24:00Speaker 1: one of those experiments that had been abandoned as well.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Maybe he was supposed to be taken care of before
- 24:07Speaker 1: the government left, but somehow he made it. Anyways, some
- 24:11Speaker 1: of the people gone in the experiments assumed to be terminated,
- 24:15Speaker 1: no one was there to realize one of them actually
- 24:18Speaker 1: made it. This led to the creature known as Mofman,
- 24:25Speaker 1: finding his way out of the lab and outside a
- 24:28Speaker 1: point pleasant city limit. From there, He's stayed in that area,
- 24:33Speaker 1: not knowing where else to go. While this one could
- 24:37Speaker 1: explain the look of Mofman, it still doesn't make sense
- 24:41Speaker 1: how he is able to predict those tragedies, or could it.
- 24:46Speaker 1: The government has been known to do research on psychic
- 24:49Speaker 1: powers and abilities, so who is to say if they
- 24:54Speaker 1: didn't do something to Mofman to give him the ability
- 24:57Speaker 1: to see the future. What helps people believe Mafman was
- 25:01Speaker 1: created by the government is that the men in Black
- 25:04Speaker 1: seem to pop up when people say they have seen them.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Another theory that is also connected to the Men in
- 25:13Speaker 1: Black is that some say Mofman could be an alien.
- 25:19Speaker 1: That's right. Some believe he is from outer space. And
- 25:23Speaker 1: I got to say this was the only one that
- 25:26Speaker 1: I was kind of surprised by. I don't think I've
- 25:29Speaker 1: ever heard this theory, so when I saw it on
- 25:32Speaker 1: the list of possible things Mofman could be, I couldn't
- 25:35Speaker 1: believe it at first. Apparently this theory gained traction after
- 25:41Speaker 1: paranormal researcher John Kill noticed strange phenomenon that seemed to
- 25:46Speaker 1: accompany sightings of the flying creature, things like glowing ords,
- 25:52Speaker 1: weird animal behaviors, mysterious energy fields, technical failures, time loss, disappearances,
- 26:00Speaker 1: and of course, the Men in Black. All of these
- 26:04Speaker 1: phenomenon are associated with UFO sightings, so it wasn't hard
- 26:09Speaker 1: for people to connect Moufman with aliens. People came to
- 26:13Speaker 1: believe this theory as well, thanks to the fact that
- 26:16Speaker 1: the residents of Point Pleasant have been victims of electrical problems.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Do I believe this theory? Not really, I don't know.
- 26:27Speaker 1: I know people like to jump to aliens every time
- 26:30Speaker 1: the Men in Black are said to be seen, but
- 26:33Speaker 1: I just don't think Mafman is an alien. Plus, it
- 26:37Speaker 1: still doesn't make sense how he knew of the tragedies beforehand.
- 26:42Speaker 1: But did you think that was the only theories about
- 26:45Speaker 1: what Maufman could be. You're wrong. With how much Moufman
- 26:50Speaker 1: captures the imagination of people that hear his story, it's
- 26:55Speaker 1: no surprise that everyone has their own thoughts on what
- 26:58Speaker 1: he could be. I will say that these theories are
- 27:03Speaker 1: probably the ones I really don't believe in the most,
- 27:07Speaker 1: but we are doing a deep dive here, so I
- 27:10Speaker 1: still wanted to add them as well. There are people
- 27:14Speaker 1: that believe Mofman could be a transdimensional being, an angel
- 27:18Speaker 1: sent by God to warn us, or even a ghost
- 27:23Speaker 1: I can't understand why people would believe it's an angel,
- 27:27Speaker 1: since he does seem to warn people of tragedies to come,
- 27:31Speaker 1: But it still doesn't seem to account the times he's
- 27:33Speaker 1: been seen hanging around the city limits. The ghost theory
- 27:38Speaker 1: is a crazy one, for sure. I'm not even sure
- 27:41Speaker 1: why people would think he's a ghost. It just doesn't
- 27:44Speaker 1: make sense for anything we've been told about the sightings
- 27:48Speaker 1: of them. Now, with the transdimensional being theory, I think
- 27:56Speaker 1: I could get behind that one. It could explain his
- 27:59Speaker 1: strange apparents, why he's not seen around Point Pleasant for
- 28:03Speaker 1: years at a time, and even explain how he can
- 28:07Speaker 1: know when certain events are going to take place. How
- 28:11Speaker 1: it could even explain his hypnotic glowing red eyes. Maybe
- 28:16Speaker 1: is something beings like him can do, maybe even to
- 28:20Speaker 1: help protect them if they are seen while traveling. Transdimensional
- 28:25Speaker 1: beings are not locked into time and space the way
- 28:28Speaker 1: we are. They can travel across and beyond the two.
- 28:35Speaker 1: But what do you think? Do you believe one of
- 28:38Speaker 1: these theories or do you have another theory of what
- 28:41Speaker 1: Mothman can be. I will say one thing you can
- 28:45Speaker 1: take from all of these theories was that Mothman has
- 28:49Speaker 1: captured the imagination of many around the world, so much
- 28:55Speaker 1: so that people are known to flock the Point Pleasant
- 28:58Speaker 1: to this day hoping to find out the truth. But
- 29:03Speaker 1: don't worry. If you're too scared to go out to
- 29:06Speaker 1: the TNT area, you can look for the truth in
- 29:09Speaker 1: the Mofman Museum. That's right, there is a museum dedicated
- 29:15Speaker 1: all to the Man of the hour. They first open
- 29:19Speaker 1: their doors to the public in two thousand and five
- 29:23Speaker 1: and they are open seven days a week, So no
- 29:26Speaker 1: matter when you decide to take a trip to Point Pleasant,
- 29:29Speaker 1: you'll be able to visit the museum. You'll be able
- 29:33Speaker 1: to see the original newspaper clippings of reported sightings, as
- 29:38Speaker 1: well as the largest collection of memberabilia and props from
- 29:42Speaker 1: the movie The Mofman Prophecies. But if that's not good
- 29:48Speaker 1: enough for you, you can walk right out the doors of
- 29:51Speaker 1: the museum and see Moffman himself. You can even give
- 29:55Speaker 1: his ass a slap. Okay, don't actually do that, because
- 30:00Speaker 1: it's a salt. Even if the Moffman outside of the
- 30:03Speaker 1: museum is a statue, don't be that person. I do
- 30:08Speaker 1: need you, guys to look up this statue because the
- 30:10Speaker 1: person who made it was doing too much giving him
- 30:14Speaker 1: a nice ass. You know, you don't have to look
- 30:17Speaker 1: up Moffman's statue. Ass, just look up Moffman's statue, and
- 30:20Speaker 1: I promise most of them are just his backside. I
- 30:26Speaker 1: even saw someone put a dollar bill between his cheeks.
- 30:30Speaker 1: People be disrespectful for no reason. You know what, who
- 30:35Speaker 1: have made this? I'll be right back. Bob Broach, Bob Bob,
- 30:41Speaker 1: which just why why did you need to give him
- 30:44Speaker 1: the cake like that? It's just such a weird choice. Sorry,
- 30:50Speaker 1: Ever since I found out about the Moffman statues, but
- 30:53Speaker 1: it's all I ever think of when I'm talking about it,
- 30:57Speaker 1: because I thought it looked crazy in the front. I
- 31:00Speaker 1: just want to know what his thought process was. I
- 31:04Speaker 1: get the feeling it would be funny to listen to
- 31:07Speaker 1: him explain it. Oh but if a big booty Mockman
- 31:13Speaker 1: statue and museum isn't enough for you, you can also
- 31:17Speaker 1: join the Mockman Festival they have every year. It happens
- 31:21Speaker 1: every year on the third weekend of September, which means
- 31:25Speaker 1: it will be happening this weekend. I wish I could
- 31:29Speaker 1: afford to go this year because it would be so
- 31:31Speaker 1: cool to do for my birthday. Also, while I decided
- 31:36Speaker 1: to schedule this episode for today, I did not realize
- 31:39Speaker 1: until after I plan that that the festival was actually
- 31:43Speaker 1: this week as well. The universe works in insane ways
- 31:48Speaker 1: and it continues to blow my mind, but I love
- 31:51Speaker 1: it at the same time. So if you're at the
- 31:55Speaker 1: festival this weekend, tell me how it went. I want
- 31:59Speaker 1: to live like curiously through you. Anyways, this festival was
- 32:05Speaker 1: started back in two thousand and two after they were
- 32:09Speaker 1: brainstorming ways to help bring in more tourism to Point
- 32:13Speaker 1: Pleasant and what better way to bring people in than
- 32:17Speaker 1: the creature that put the city on the map in
- 32:19Speaker 1: the first place, And it was the smartest move they
- 32:25Speaker 1: could have made. Now it is estimated to bring in
- 32:29Speaker 1: around ten to twelve thousand people per year. People that
- 32:34Speaker 1: are curious about Mothman are those that want to celebrate them.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Mockman truly has captured the hearts and minds of many people,
- 32:44Speaker 1: growing from a lesser known cryptid to now having a
- 32:48Speaker 1: festival dedicated to him and even getting his own build
- 32:51Speaker 1: of beer plush, something even Bigfoot hasn't gotten yet. So
- 32:57Speaker 1: while he might have a scarier appearance, don't let that
- 33:01Speaker 1: fool you. He seems to be here to help warn
- 33:05Speaker 1: us of tragedies, but maybe don't get too close. I
- 33:10Speaker 1: fear he likes his face and might let you know
- 33:13Speaker 1: in a less than friendly way, so as always be
- 33:18Speaker 1: respectful and maybe keep an eye out for danger if
- 33:21Speaker 1: you see him. And if you have ever encountered Mofman
- 33:26Speaker 1: before or know someone that has, why not send me
- 33:31Speaker 1: an email. I'd love to hear your stories. Send them
- 33:35Speaker 1: in to Pinky Boo Hauntings at gmail, and don't worry,
- 33:39Speaker 1: we also have a link in the show notes and
- 33:41Speaker 1: a description below. Guys, I really hope you enjoyed the
- 33:49Speaker 1: deep dive of Mofman. I was so excited back when
- 33:54Speaker 1: I decided to do this one, and very upset when
- 33:57Speaker 1: writer's block got the best of me. I am sorry
- 34:01Speaker 1: it took me so long to actually get to it,
- 34:04Speaker 1: but it would seem that the universe was looking out
- 34:06Speaker 1: for me, because it was clearly meant for me to
- 34:10Speaker 1: wait on this episode until today. After all, How perfect
- 34:17Speaker 1: is it that this weekend is the Mothman Festival. I
- 34:22Speaker 1: love when things work out like that, and what a
- 34:25Speaker 1: way to celebrate the podcast one year anniversary, as well
- 34:30Speaker 1: as my birthday. It truly was meant to be. Oh
- 34:37Speaker 1: but as I've said a few times already, it's my birthday.
- 34:42Speaker 1: And if you'd like to get me a gift you
- 34:47Speaker 1: could rate and review and like and subscribe, it really
- 34:51Speaker 1: would be the best gift I could get this year.
- 34:55Speaker 1: And if you feel compelled to, could you also share
- 34:58Speaker 1: the word of the coven? Help a girl out? It
- 35:03Speaker 1: is my one year anniversary and my birthday. After all,
- 35:09Speaker 1: what have I mentioned that already? It's not like I'm
- 35:13Speaker 1: trying to guilt you, guys or anything. For real, though
- 35:19Speaker 1: I can't believe it's already been a year. I am
- 35:22Speaker 1: so grateful for you guys, and for you sticking around.
- 35:26Speaker 1: It means the world to me, and I will never
- 35:29Speaker 1: have the words to express how much I appreciate you all.
- 35:34Speaker 1: I hope we can keep growing this coven, and I
- 35:37Speaker 1: promise to keep bringing you scary and strange stories. I
- 35:42Speaker 1: love being your host and your guide to all things paranormal,
- 35:45Speaker 1: weird and spooky. But for now, the Coven is ajoren.
- 35:49Speaker 1: See you next time. By
