- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites, presented by Draft Kings. The crown
- 0:13Speaker 1: is yours. We are an Action Network podcast.
- 0:16Speaker 2: I'm Brandon Kravitz, your host, back at it with the
- 0:18Speaker 2: first lady of the podcast, Kendra Middleton, returning once again.
- 0:23Speaker 2: We've got a season preview with Joe Dalleone coming up.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Joe does NFL draft content, college football content, NFL content
- 0:30Speaker 2: in general for a to Z Sports also on the
- 0:33Speaker 2: twenty four to seven Sports channel. So we're we have
- 0:37Speaker 2: a lot to dig into. Excited to talk about some
- 0:39Speaker 2: of the teams that we're buying stock on before the
- 0:43Speaker 2: NFL season. We've got some Heisman questions, a.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Lot to discuss. But I have a lot to discuss.
- 0:48Speaker 2: The lady that is looking at me via the virtual
- 0:53Speaker 2: site that we're on right now, the returning Kendra Middleton.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Your summer of fun is just about wrapped up? How
- 0:59Speaker 2: is the latest trip to Albania of all plays?
- 1:03Speaker 3: Just yeah, just about ending.
- 1:05Speaker 4: I do have to pack up my microphone after this
- 1:07Speaker 4: because I am doing a staycation in Provincetown next week,
- 1:11Speaker 4: so I will be broadcasting from Peetown because you know,
- 1:13Speaker 4: why not?
- 1:14Speaker 3: But it was good.
- 1:15Speaker 4: I loved Grease more than Albania, I have to say,
- 1:19Speaker 4: And I.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Didn't think that it would be that way. But Albania
- 1:22Speaker 3: was good. It was great. It's just the culture over
- 1:24Speaker 3: there was a little strange, like everybody was kind of
- 1:27Speaker 3: they were kind of I don't want to say that
- 1:28Speaker 3: they were rude, but they were like kind of mean.
- 1:30Speaker 4: And it's like I live in Boston, so like I'm
- 1:32Speaker 4: used to massholes, but they were just like a different
- 1:35Speaker 4: kind of asshole.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I don't know. And the food wasn't that good.
- 1:38Speaker 4: It was beautiful and very affordable, but I I preferred
- 1:42Speaker 4: grease you guys. I gotta say, I'm glad that I went.
- 1:45Speaker 4: I'm glad I explored. I'm glad I checked it off
- 1:47Speaker 4: my bucket list.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I guess.
- 1:49Speaker 3: One funny story was we went on like a.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Boat tour one day and this the captain of the
- 1:55Speaker 4: boat had the skipper asked me on a date for him,
- 1:58Speaker 4: and I said, absolutely not.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Be a man.
- 2:03Speaker 1: You got to step up to the flight. You want
- 2:05Speaker 1: to take the swing, come on me to be your wife.
- 2:08Speaker 3: If you can't ask me on a date, bitch, get
- 2:09Speaker 3: out of here.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Yeah, come on, We've got standards here.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Would we do not accept your your forward progress here
- 2:16Speaker 2: on the favorite podcast I will admit is you've called
- 2:19Speaker 2: me an uncultured Swan a few times during our time
- 2:22Speaker 2: podcasting together. I did have to look up where Albania
- 2:25Speaker 2: was on the map.
- 2:26Speaker 4: I will say, if you're going to go to that
- 2:27Speaker 4: part of the world, Croatia next question, not even close.
- 2:30Speaker 4: My favorite place I've ever been Croatia. Before it gets
- 2:33Speaker 4: too popular or expensive.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Go.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I have used to work in the bar and restaurant industry,
- 2:39Speaker 2: and I've worked with a couple of cooks from Croatia.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Some of the coolest people that I've ever.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Met, the best, great great food, Greek culture, great people,
- 2:47Speaker 4: my favorite, very.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Direct but friendly. It's kind of the vibe that I got,
- 2:52Speaker 1: and I love people. I love people like that. There's
- 2:54Speaker 1: the honest cut through the bullshit. But they're but.
- 2:57Speaker 2: They're not rude like I guess the Albania Sorry I
- 3:00Speaker 2: found Hey Albanians are listening. Uh So we have much
- 3:03Speaker 2: to discuss here. You tell me where you want to focus.
- 3:06Speaker 2: I've got a uh I've got a list that I've
- 3:10Speaker 2: formed on my on my phone.
- 3:11Speaker 4: And we go through your list and I give you
- 3:14Speaker 4: like one sentence or less synopsis.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Perfect. I love when we show prep on the fly, like.
- 3:21Speaker 2: This, Tony Romo pulled over for a dui. I watched
- 3:28Speaker 2: all three minutes of this video. It was so embarrassing.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I was just cringe watching this. Let me let me
- 3:37Speaker 2: call my attorney. No, sir, you have to step out
- 3:40Speaker 2: of the car. Then he starts warming up, says.
- 3:43Speaker 3: He wasn't drinking.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Yeah, he was drinking because he was he was golfing
- 3:49Speaker 2: on a for a USGA events like you wire first
- 3:53Speaker 2: of all, but uh, yeah.
- 3:55Speaker 3: An gave me the act. Do we think he keeps
- 3:57Speaker 3: his job?
- 3:59Speaker 4: Oh?
- 3:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think I think you do.
- 4:03Speaker 4: You know how drunk you have to be in Wisconsin
- 4:04Speaker 4: to get a dui? By the way, they have like
- 4:06Speaker 4: multiple my mom's families from Wisconsin. My uncles a cop
- 4:09Speaker 4: in Wisconsin.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Do you know how fucked up you have to be
- 4:13Speaker 3: to get a dui?
- 4:14Speaker 2: There?
- 4:15Speaker 1: Bad?
- 4:17Speaker 2: I think that's the dui capital of the country. I
- 4:19Speaker 2: believe far Yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Because they like yeah, yes, because you had yes.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Okay, next question, Okay, Tony Romo keeps his job.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Kyle Shanahan is actually getting some credit for something that
- 4:33Speaker 2: he did wrong. Kyle Shanahan got into a bad car
- 4:37Speaker 2: crash driving his Tesla, and admitted that the reporting was inaccurate,
- 4:43Speaker 2: that it was the twenty.
- 4:44Speaker 1: One year old that hit him.
- 4:46Speaker 2: It was actually his fault because not because he was texting,
- 4:49Speaker 2: because he reached for his phone that dropped in between
- 4:51Speaker 2: his seats.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Do you give him credit or blame?
- 4:54Speaker 4: I have a hot take on this, Actually, Kyle Shanahan
- 4:57Speaker 4: might be a bad guy because it took you two
- 4:59Speaker 4: weeks to say this.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Well, you knew this poor girl was.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Getting bashed online and how the media was going to
- 5:04Speaker 4: handle this. You assumed that the beat reporters in San
- 5:07Speaker 4: Francisco in the Bay Area were stupid and not going
- 5:09Speaker 4: to follow up on this or do any actual research.
- 5:11Speaker 4: And you were correct, because now they're giving you the
- 5:13Speaker 4: benefit of the down being like, oh, you're a great guy,
- 5:16Speaker 4: when in reality, for two weeks you were happy to
- 5:18Speaker 4: cover this up and let this girl take the fall.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Well, but this wasn't public information for two.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Weeks though, because they covered it up for two weeks.
- 5:27Speaker 2: But what I'm saying is I don't think that this
- 5:29Speaker 2: whoever hit him was getting crucified by people online because
- 5:33Speaker 2: they didn't even know that this happened.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Yeah, but you knew that that's what was going to happen.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I figured it was power plant related.
- 5:40Speaker 2: But moving on, Jalen Carter extended biggest contracts in NFL
- 5:45Speaker 2: history for a defensive tackle. They've moved on from aj Brown.
- 5:50Speaker 2: They paid the guy that anchors their defense. I imagine we
- 5:54Speaker 2: both give this two thumbs up. It's kind of a
- 5:56Speaker 2: move that you have to make. He's one of the best.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Yes, move you have to make. Two thumbs up. Just
- 6:00Speaker 3: make sure you don't let him buy a new car
- 6:02Speaker 3: and that he keeps us spit in his mouth.
- 6:04Speaker 2: By the way, how much of the Quarterback Documentary have
- 6:07Speaker 2: you made your way through?
- 6:08Speaker 3: On half of it?
- 6:09Speaker 1: Did you see the part where Baker Mayfield was talking
- 6:12Speaker 1: shit to Jalen Carter in the bucksho So you're still
- 6:16Speaker 1: spitting it people?
- 6:17Speaker 3: So yep.
- 6:19Speaker 4: I've grown a lot to love Baker Mayfield in this docuseries.
- 6:24Speaker 4: I feel bad that I'm like shitting on him for
- 6:26Speaker 4: the season, but I've learned to really love and appreciate
- 6:28Speaker 4: Baker Mayfield through the Quarterback Documentary on Netflix.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I agree on all fronts, the Bucks fade, but also
- 6:36Speaker 2: the Baker Mayfield love prove us wrong.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Baker as you love to do.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Justin Herbert engaged to his pop star wife with a
- 6:45Speaker 2: rock that is the size of an iceberg.
- 6:49Speaker 3: You better take her last name. That's all I have to.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Say, Justin Beer, that would be pretty cool. Is this
- 6:56Speaker 2: the only ring that he wins? I will steal a
- 6:59Speaker 2: popular refrain from the social media. Okay, your boy Drake
- 7:04Speaker 2: May off target quite a bit with AJ Brown. AJ
- 7:08Speaker 2: Brown also said already saying that Drake May is not
- 7:12Speaker 2: throwing the ball enough, and so it sounds like we're
- 7:15Speaker 2: getting some birds vintage AJ Brown early on into his experience.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Is that accurate? I love it.
- 7:23Speaker 4: I think it's going to poison this locker room even
- 7:25Speaker 4: more than Rabel already has any kind of listen. I
- 7:28Speaker 4: the more that I work in this industry, I'm just
- 7:30Speaker 4: here for the storylines, baby, That's all I care about,
- 7:32Speaker 4: all right.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Final thing is one of the quarterbacks that I've unfortunately
- 7:37Speaker 2: hitched my wagon to financially is to a tag of Ailoa.
- 7:41Speaker 2: He is sidelined with what the team considers a flare
- 7:44Speaker 2: up of an undisclosed injury, so he's not practicing now.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Michael Pennix is still doing seven on seven drills, so
- 7:51Speaker 2: he's not a full participant in practice either. They have
- 7:53Speaker 2: since added Cooper Rush because somebody has to throw the
- 7:56Speaker 2: ball at Falcons practice. Should I hyperventilate into a brown bag?
- 8:02Speaker 4: Yes, But I've been telling you that since you started
- 8:04Speaker 4: this whole debacle.
- 8:06Speaker 3: I think to and Os he sucks.
- 8:07Speaker 4: I think he knows he's losing the starting job and
- 8:08Speaker 4: he doesn't want to embarrass himself, so he's going.
- 8:10Speaker 3: My neck, my back.
- 8:13Speaker 1: That's all.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Yeah, that's my hold or less.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Those very well done. I wanted Penix the whole time.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I just need him to get onto the field. Coming
- 8:20Speaker 2: up Joe Dalleone with a preview of the upcoming NFL
- 8:23Speaker 2: and college football season, a season that we'd be chalked
- 8:25Speaker 2: full of bets that we will be firing away on

- 9:32Speaker 2: we're all looking for those. Joe, Welcome to the show.
- 9:36Speaker 2: The long wait and the return of joy and happiness
- 9:40Speaker 2: is right around the corner.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Ah, that is an understatement.
- 9:44Speaker 6: It's really great that finally the pads are popping during
- 9:46Speaker 6: these NFL training camps. It's always like a nice little
- 9:49Speaker 6: reacclamation when all these media days are happening. I couldn't
- 9:53Speaker 6: be more fired up. I'm putting out my futures bets
- 9:55Speaker 6: and predictions for who's gonna win all the divisions and conferences,
- 9:58Speaker 6: so it couldn't get hear any faster.
- 10:01Speaker 2: So a quick review on College Football twenty seven the
- 10:04Speaker 2: video game, and doing my extensive Joe Dalleone prep, I
- 10:09Speaker 2: discovered he got a little gamer in you.
- 10:12Speaker 6: Yeah, it's the only game that I play because I
- 10:14Speaker 6: don't I only have so much times, like I'll play
- 10:17Speaker 6: occasionally on the weekends. A little disappointed with c IF
- 10:21Speaker 6: twenty seven in the regard that, like I was expecting
- 10:24Speaker 6: there to be a lot of broad changes to the game.
- 10:27Speaker 6: Dynasty Mode is about the same, but the NIL implementation
- 10:31Speaker 6: is a little tricky.
- 10:32Speaker 5: To figure out.
- 10:33Speaker 6: Once you figure it out, it's pretty fun. Road to
- 10:35Speaker 6: Glory was really over hyped. I played it for like
- 10:38Speaker 6: like five hours maybe in total, and then I immediately
- 10:41Speaker 6: gave up on it because it was supposed to be
- 10:43Speaker 6: built up to be this super unique career mode, but
- 10:46Speaker 6: it just ended up being a pay to play kind
- 10:49Speaker 6: of thing like they do with two K.
- 10:50Speaker 5: But it's been fun. I'll play it no matter what because.
- 10:53Speaker 6: I love college football, and I love the college football
- 10:55Speaker 6: video games, so it's it's satisfying my taste.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Okay, gamer to gamer, what do you play on Xbox
- 11:00Speaker 4: PlayStation PC?
- 11:03Speaker 5: I'm on Xbox too.
- 11:05Speaker 6: I've been stuck with Xbox all the way through since
- 11:07Speaker 6: I was a child. I will not switch off. PC's
- 11:10Speaker 6: a little too nuance for me.
- 11:12Speaker 5: I can't do that.
- 11:14Speaker 2: I'm one of the rare few that started as an
- 11:17Speaker 2: Xbox guy and then transition to PlayStation for some reason.
- 11:21Speaker 2: I don't know if it was so I got caught
- 11:24Speaker 2: between generations or something like that, but I had theg
- 11:28Speaker 2: the og Xbox when that came out.
- 11:29Speaker 1: So I remember playing the original Halo.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I think my character is still lost in space somewhere,
- 11:35Speaker 2: but anyway, let's move on.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I wanted to see if you could either gas.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Us up or throw some water on some of our
- 11:42Speaker 2: wildest predictions, or at least our boldest takes. Going in
- 11:46Speaker 2: to the NFL season, Kendra is on the New York Giants.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Cam Scattabo is probably a walking human concussion with the
- 11:53Speaker 2: way that he plays. He saw him do the backflip
- 11:56Speaker 2: heard around the world that he did not land at
- 11:59Speaker 2: least a four. If we're grading that in the gymnastics world.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Malik Neighbors now multiple knee surgeries in the offseason, But
- 12:06Speaker 2: they got a new coach in John Hartball over under
- 12:09Speaker 2: seven and a half wins is where they're sitting right now.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Where are you with this team.
- 12:14Speaker 6: I've got a lot of cautious optimism for the Giants
- 12:18Speaker 6: because I see where the buy in is.
- 12:21Speaker 5: I see that you have an actual adult in the
- 12:23Speaker 5: room leading this team.
- 12:25Speaker 6: My biggest criticism of Brian da Ball was that it
- 12:28Speaker 6: just very clearly he was not the guy that was
- 12:30Speaker 6: able to get everybody locked in and focused. There were
- 12:32Speaker 6: just too many little issues, lack of preparation, too many
- 12:35Speaker 6: penalties and silly moments, blown assignments, and then Abdul Carter
- 12:40Speaker 6: wasn't even showing up when he needed to be in
- 12:42Speaker 6: the facility. It just went to show that they needed
- 12:44Speaker 6: somebody who was more of a disciplinarian, somebody who was
- 12:47Speaker 6: a culture builder like Harball, and I think we're going
- 12:50Speaker 6: to see rapid improvements. I think that defensively this team
- 12:54Speaker 6: is going to be really good. I think that it's
- 12:56Speaker 6: a no brainer that their pass rush is going to
- 12:58Speaker 6: be disruptive. I think their secondary is going to improve,
- 13:00Speaker 6: and I love what they're doing at linebacker, but offensively,
- 13:04Speaker 6: it could go so many different ways. I don't really
- 13:07Speaker 6: feel very safe with how the receiver room looks right now.
- 13:12Speaker 6: Neighbor's coming off of the second operation. Now he's off
- 13:15Speaker 6: the pup list, which is exciting, which is great positive news.
- 13:18Speaker 6: But even if he does get back, he's ready to
- 13:22Speaker 6: go at the beginning of the year. I don't feel
- 13:24Speaker 6: threatened by the second third receivers in this room. You know,
- 13:29Speaker 6: is Darius Slayton ever actually gonna do anything? Can Darnell
- 13:32Speaker 6: Mooney show a little bit of juice? Can Calvin Austen
- 13:36Speaker 6: be a solid player in the slot because we know
- 13:38Speaker 6: that Dart loves to target guys in the slot. Is
- 13:41Speaker 6: Isaiah likely just going to be that replacement for whoever
- 13:44Speaker 6: would have been a quality wide receiver too?
- 13:46Speaker 5: In this offense that remains to be seen.
- 13:48Speaker 6: Are they gonna be able to run the ball the
- 13:49Speaker 6: way that they're expecting to And is Dart as good
- 13:52Speaker 6: as everybody hopes that he can be. You showed positive signs,
- 13:55Speaker 6: but there's plenty of quarterbacks that have decent, solid rookie
- 14:00Speaker 6: years that go on to collapse, especially with a new
- 14:02Speaker 6: OC and a new head coach, so I got to
- 14:05Speaker 6: see this offense start to hit the ground running. It
- 14:07Speaker 6: probably won't happen until the middle of the year, after
- 14:11Speaker 6: everything's been figured out and what the identity of this
- 14:13Speaker 6: team is going to be. But seven and a half
- 14:16Speaker 6: is low enough that I'm willing to take the risk
- 14:19Speaker 6: on it and to jump on that. Where if they
- 14:22Speaker 6: go eight to nine, or if they go nine to eight,
- 14:24Speaker 6: they just barely get into the playoffs, they just barely
- 14:26Speaker 6: miss the playoffs, whatever it is. I think that that
- 14:28Speaker 6: is attainable. Looking at their schedule, it is accomplishable for
- 14:32Speaker 6: them to get that done.
- 14:34Speaker 3: I want to follow on your disciplinarian take.
- 14:36Speaker 4: I hear so often that the new generation of football
- 14:40Speaker 4: player is so so often you have to manage these
- 14:42Speaker 4: young kids so differently. The Giants are a really young team,
- 14:45Speaker 4: and we find so often, like the mcveigh's of the world,
- 14:47Speaker 4: those tight pants offensive minds who are younger guys and
- 14:50Speaker 4: can relate to their players being successful with younger teams.
- 14:54Speaker 4: What do you think the kind of ceiling or floor
- 14:57Speaker 4: is with the ability for him to be able to
- 14:59Speaker 4: relate to such a young locker room?
- 15:01Speaker 3: Is that going to hinder them or help them.
- 15:03Speaker 6: I think it's going to help them because again, a
- 15:05Speaker 6: lot of their problems last year were things that stemmed
- 15:09Speaker 6: from poor overall coaching and kind of to the regard
- 15:12Speaker 6: of you know, Dave Ball was a younger coach, he
- 15:14Speaker 6: was the offensive mind.
- 15:15Speaker 5: He was way too loose. He was just way too
- 15:17Speaker 5: loose with how he was handling the team. It showed
- 15:20Speaker 5: up in so many instances where there would be a brutal.
- 15:24Speaker 6: Penalty with awful timing, a miss assignment on defense, somebody
- 15:28Speaker 6: would just be left.
- 15:29Speaker 5: Wide open, a big play would be created.
- 15:32Speaker 6: There were plenty of visinesses with reports of concerns with
- 15:37Speaker 6: the team just being bought in overall. And I think
- 15:39Speaker 6: that Harbaugh, maybe disciplinarian might not have been like the
- 15:43Speaker 6: total perfect word for him, even though he's by modern standards,
- 15:46Speaker 6: is a disciplinarian. But I think that both Harbaughs have
- 15:49Speaker 6: shown that they know how to connect with younger players,
- 15:53Speaker 6: but know how to get the most out of them,
- 15:54Speaker 6: and I think that's what the team was missing. It
- 15:56Speaker 6: was less about needing somebody who was going to put
- 15:59Speaker 6: their foot down and treat them very sternly, but more
- 16:02Speaker 6: so somebody who knew how to get the most out
- 16:05Speaker 6: of the roster. I think that Adol Carter is a
- 16:07Speaker 6: guy who needed to be motivated. Not every single guy
- 16:10Speaker 6: is going to be intrinsically motivated to succeed. Not saying
- 16:13Speaker 6: that Carter is lazy, but you sometimes need the right
- 16:17Speaker 6: coach in order to get that player to see what
- 16:19Speaker 6: the vision is for their success. Sometimes when you're Ablol
- 16:22Speaker 6: Carter and you're at Penn State and you're kicking everybody's butt,
- 16:25Speaker 6: you're going to think that, Oh, I just need to
- 16:27Speaker 6: show up and do my thing. I don't need to
- 16:29Speaker 6: do anything beyond that. If I miss a meeting, I'm
- 16:32Speaker 6: Abdul Carter. I was the third overall pick. But you
- 16:35Speaker 6: can't do that in the NFL. You need a coach
- 16:37Speaker 6: that's going to be able to instill Hey, I've been
- 16:40Speaker 6: around this long, I've won a Super Bowl. You need
- 16:42Speaker 6: to be a part of this so that you can
- 16:43Speaker 6: follow the track of the guys before you.
- 16:46Speaker 2: With that division the NFC East, I'm having trouble like
- 16:49Speaker 2: I am with a lot of these divisions because we
- 16:51Speaker 2: spend so much time gassing these teams up, trying to
- 16:54Speaker 2: figure out who's going to finish and last. And it's
- 16:57Speaker 2: kind of the latest project that I've been taking on
- 17:00Speaker 2: in looking at my divisional previews. Because we spend so
- 17:03Speaker 2: much time at the top, somebody's got to finish in
- 17:06Speaker 2: the last place. The Giants are catching hype. I'm really
- 17:09Speaker 2: high on the Cowboys this year. The Eagles probably aren't
- 17:12Speaker 2: going away completely, and the Commanders already had their slide
- 17:16Speaker 2: last year. If you had to pick a fourth place
- 17:19Speaker 2: team in the NFC East, who is it.
- 17:23Speaker 5: It's such a tough question.
- 17:24Speaker 6: And when I've done like win total projections for some
- 17:29Speaker 6: of these teams, I have approached the NFC East with
- 17:32Speaker 6: the thought of, like, I think a lot of these
- 17:33Speaker 6: teams are gonna split with one another for the most part,
- 17:36Speaker 6: But I think that sadly, you do have to go
- 17:39Speaker 6: with the Giants to probably finish in in last, which
- 17:42Speaker 6: is kind of crazy considering I said I'd be willing
- 17:44Speaker 6: to take the over on their win total. But if
- 17:47Speaker 6: we're just comparing roster to roster and where all these
- 17:50Speaker 6: teams are situationally, the Giants are in the circumstance where
- 17:54Speaker 6: they're probably gonna finish at the bottom. They have the
- 17:56Speaker 6: worst quarterback in the Division. Just put it as simply
- 17:58Speaker 6: as that Jackson Dart is not better than Aid Daniels.
- 18:00Speaker 6: He's not better than Dak Prescott. He's not better than
- 18:03Speaker 6: Jalen Hurts, at least not right now. I think that
- 18:05Speaker 6: he could maybe play catch up with some of those players.
- 18:08Speaker 6: But when they have all of those question marks on
- 18:13Speaker 6: offense and the rest of the division is gearing up
- 18:16Speaker 6: to go on runs, it puts the Giants in a
- 18:19Speaker 6: really difficult spot. It doesn't mean that they can't, to me,
- 18:22Speaker 6: unexpectedly beat teams that they're not supposed to on their
- 18:25Speaker 6: upcoming schedule and hit that projection like we're talking about,
- 18:28Speaker 6: but the commanders of the team that are going to
- 18:30Speaker 6: get brought up as the potential team to finish in
- 18:32Speaker 6: last and I loved what the Commanders did this offseason.
- 18:34Speaker 6: I think that defensively, Sonny Styles and then all these
- 18:38Speaker 6: other pieces that they brought in are only going to
- 18:40Speaker 6: set up this team to be increasingly better than the
- 18:44Speaker 6: really shaky twenty twenty five that they had. So Dan
- 18:47Speaker 6: Quinn's too good of a coach for me to doubt
- 18:50Speaker 6: him and to believe that with the roster that he
- 18:52Speaker 6: put together in his vision with a lot more flexibility
- 18:56Speaker 6: with more money to spend in early draft picks that
- 18:58Speaker 6: they won't get back on track and at least be
- 19:01Speaker 6: the third team in this division.
- 19:02Speaker 4: The Cowboys have the roster to win this division, but
- 19:05Speaker 4: it's always the big question of can they put it
- 19:07Speaker 4: together for the entirety of a season.
- 19:09Speaker 3: They also have an extremely easy schedule.
- 19:12Speaker 4: In a lot of people's opinions this year, what do
- 19:14Speaker 4: you think about them and how much.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Do you take an easy schedule into consideration.
- 19:18Speaker 5: I think the.
- 19:19Speaker 6: Upcoming schedule is obviously very important now those things. It's
- 19:22Speaker 6: a little lot less for me than like with college football,
- 19:25Speaker 6: where you can go into the season expecting certain teams
- 19:28Speaker 6: to be within a spectrum of how good or bad
- 19:31Speaker 6: they are. But I feel like in the NFL, strength
- 19:34Speaker 6: of schedule before the season always ends up completely flipping
- 19:37Speaker 6: on its head because there's always gonna be plenty of
- 19:39Speaker 6: teams that completely regress in some that deal with a
- 19:42Speaker 6: major injury, whatever it might be.
- 19:43Speaker 5: But the Cowboys.
- 19:45Speaker 6: Are really unpredictable to me because their roster it's shaped
- 19:50Speaker 6: up to be really successful this upcoming year. Their offense
- 19:53Speaker 6: was ridiculously productive last year. They have all the pieces
- 19:56Speaker 6: I think that their offensive line continues to be the
- 19:59Speaker 6: epit of consistency, even though they have had stretches where
- 20:02Speaker 6: they haven't been up to that normal standard. But defensively,
- 20:06Speaker 6: they did everything that they needed to. Everybody that they
- 20:08Speaker 6: brought in is setting up this defense to be so
- 20:12Speaker 6: much better.
- 20:13Speaker 5: They were awful last year, the very.
- 20:14Speaker 6: Bottom of the NFL in every major metric that you
- 20:17Speaker 6: look for, not just statistically in terms of how many
- 20:20Speaker 6: yards they gave up, but like efficiency metrics, they were terrible.
- 20:23Speaker 5: If they're marginally.
- 20:24Speaker 6: Better with an offense that was as productive as it
- 20:27Speaker 6: was and Dak plays as good as he did last season,
- 20:30Speaker 6: this team should be in the playoff picture, and there
- 20:33Speaker 6: was a major jump in the personnel in the interior
- 20:35Speaker 6: of the defense. The draft selection of Caleb Downs I
- 20:39Speaker 6: think could end up being one of the best picks
- 20:42Speaker 6: of the twenty twenty six NFL draft, because you're dropping
- 20:46Speaker 6: in the most cerebral player of the class, one of
- 20:50Speaker 6: the most instinctive prospects that I've evaluated that any many
- 20:53Speaker 6: people have evaluated. He is going to realistically improve a
- 20:57Speaker 6: unit that was all over the place mess and they've
- 21:00Speaker 6: gotten new defensive direction with Eberflus gone. I think that
- 21:06Speaker 6: there is a lot to get excited about with Dallas,
- 21:08Speaker 6: but just naturally, it feels risky to get invested in
- 21:13Speaker 6: Jerry Jones and Schottenheimer when they continually keep falling short.
- 21:18Speaker 6: But it just doesn't seem like it's gonna be a
- 21:20Speaker 6: season where they don't at least finish in second in
- 21:23Speaker 6: the division.
- 21:24Speaker 2: You gotta find their way back to a super Bowl
- 21:26Speaker 2: at some point before Jerry leaves God's Green Earth, So
- 21:30Speaker 2: that would not that that should be factored into your analysis.
- 21:33Speaker 4: But I don't even get I watched his press conference
- 21:37Speaker 4: this morning with his.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Stupid hat on, and I was just like, Ah, I
- 21:40Speaker 3: hate you.
- 21:43Speaker 1: The guy's a goof, but he cares.
- 21:44Speaker 2: The guy gives a shit, and I appreciate that about
- 21:47Speaker 2: Jerry Jones. Stuck stucky is big on the other team
- 21:51Speaker 2: in Texas, that is, of course, the Houston Texans. This
- 21:57Speaker 2: could be a sleeper to win the AFC Championship. Defense
- 22:00Speaker 2: is top of the line. We don't worry about that.
- 22:02Speaker 2: There's zero question marks on that side of the ball.
- 22:05Speaker 2: But it's hard to shake the memory of CJ. Stroud
- 22:09Speaker 2: with four interceptions against the New England Patriots. They added
- 22:12Speaker 2: some depth to that offensive line. David Montgomery's there to
- 22:16Speaker 2: help an anemic run game. That's huge. If he's able
- 22:20Speaker 2: to be a factor on offense for them and actually
- 22:22Speaker 2: play that CJ. Stroud is that's like his safety blanket.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Having tanked Dell out there, Where are you on the Texans?
- 22:31Speaker 6: Yeah, they're might pick for the AFC South, and I
- 22:35Speaker 6: also agree with the notion that I think that they
- 22:38Speaker 6: could be an AFC sleeper. I'm more excited about this
- 22:42Speaker 6: Texans team than I am about the Bills or the Ravens, which,
- 22:46Speaker 6: if I recall correctly, they're higher up in the odds
- 22:48Speaker 6: to win the Super Bowl this upcoming year. Defensively, we
- 22:52Speaker 6: know how good they are the unreal loaded defense. They
- 22:54Speaker 6: somehow got better by drafting Kid McDonald, who I thought
- 22:57Speaker 6: was the perfect pick for them in the second round
- 22:59Speaker 6: to drop him into that defense. He's so good at
- 23:02Speaker 6: eating up space, he doesn't need to do anything more
- 23:04Speaker 6: than that. You have Will Anderson and daneil Hunter, which
- 23:07Speaker 6: is arguably best pass rush tandem in the NFL right now.
- 23:11Speaker 6: Your secondary is unbelievable. It's just such a well coached,
- 23:14Speaker 6: consistent defense. But they needed to address helping CJ.
- 23:19Speaker 5: Straft. To put it simply, they needed to.
- 23:21Speaker 6: Support him better and they were aggressive about that. They
- 23:25Speaker 6: did what they could in order to bring in veterans
- 23:27Speaker 6: along the offensive line. I like the Kaitlyn Rutledge pick
- 23:31Speaker 6: I think that he is very underrated. It was he
- 23:33Speaker 6: was draft a little higher than I would have taken him,
- 23:35Speaker 6: but quick, he's mean, he's a finisher. And I like
- 23:39Speaker 6: the David Montgomery pick up as well, because they didn't
- 23:42Speaker 6: run the ball.
- 23:42Speaker 5: Effectively last year.
- 23:44Speaker 6: A lot of that stem from the offensive line. But
- 23:45Speaker 6: when you've got a dude who's willing to fight through
- 23:47Speaker 6: contact like Montgomery, you can get a lot out of
- 23:50Speaker 6: him in Marx. Now that you've got a more developed
- 23:53Speaker 6: tandem and Tank Dell returning isn't even like the biggest
- 23:57Speaker 6: piece for this receiver room. I think that the Jayden
- 24:00Speaker 6: Higgins Jalen Nole development going into their second years could
- 24:03Speaker 6: be even bigger. But knowing all these different options that
- 24:06Speaker 6: Stroud has, this is a make or break year for him.
- 24:09Speaker 6: I think that if they don't get at least to
- 24:13Speaker 6: the second round of the NFL playoffs and they don't
- 24:14Speaker 6: start to go towards a little bit of run be
- 24:16Speaker 6: knocking on the door of the AFC Championship Game. I
- 24:18Speaker 6: think that that would be an underperformance, and then we
- 24:21Speaker 6: can start to call in the question is Stroud really
- 24:24Speaker 6: capable of entering the upper echelon of quarterbacks.
- 24:27Speaker 1: In the NFL?
- 24:28Speaker 4: Did you see the video of him walking into the
- 24:30Speaker 4: facility yesterday where he looked like he pooped his pants?
- 24:33Speaker 1: I did.
- 24:33Speaker 6: That's a bad, bad fit, bad haircut. I'm sorry, CJ,
- 24:38Speaker 6: but that was a bad look. It made me kind
- 24:41Speaker 6: of regret because I've done a number of videos on
- 24:43Speaker 6: the Texans now where I've talked about him, and I
- 24:45Speaker 6: saw that video of him walking in. I was like,
- 24:47Speaker 6: oh my god, I might need to change my pick
- 24:49Speaker 6: after that.
- 24:49Speaker 2: For real, I'm not cool enough to use the word riz,
- 24:52Speaker 2: but I don't know what else to use here.
- 24:55Speaker 1: He has none, no riz for.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Okay, there's no motion you cannot get in.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Okay, this is where we are going to become enemies
- 25:05Speaker 4: or friends.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Talk to me about my Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 25:09Speaker 5: Oh no, I don't like their offseason. Their draft was terrible.
- 25:14Speaker 5: I'd just be quite honest. I don't think.
- 25:17Speaker 6: They didn't make any major free agent moves that make
- 25:20Speaker 6: me feel secure about what they're doing.
- 25:22Speaker 5: And their draft class didn't really excite me.
- 25:25Speaker 6: They didn't bring in any pieces that are taking the
- 25:28Speaker 6: team over the top. Maybe there's some development or building
- 25:31Speaker 6: of depth that nobody understands and it's just on like
- 25:34Speaker 6: a different plane that we're not selling. Please, maybe one
- 25:39Speaker 6: of those guys pops off. Maybe Bo Kirker ends up
- 25:41Speaker 6: being a decent tight end. But I find it a
- 25:44Speaker 6: little bit hard to believe because they took a lot
- 25:46Speaker 6: of players earlier than many people projected that they were
- 25:49Speaker 6: gonna go. I know it was the whole nuanced debate
- 25:52Speaker 6: about consensus board and all that crap. We don't need
- 25:54Speaker 6: to get into it, but I just think that you're
- 25:57Speaker 6: banking on a lot of guys stepping up in replacement
- 26:01Speaker 6: of players that are leaving. Like as much as Etchien
- 26:05Speaker 6: was inconsistent, like is Mishal toutin? Like, is that gonna
- 26:09Speaker 6: be a player for you that ends up emerging as
- 26:12Speaker 6: a big play threat? Can he maybe be like the
- 26:14Speaker 6: Bucky Irving of this team. I think that as well,
- 26:18Speaker 6: like Travis Hunter needs to emerge as a more impactful player,
- 26:23Speaker 6: he needs to stay healthy. I think that they need
- 26:24Speaker 6: to be more direct about what his role is going
- 26:27Speaker 6: to be. But it felt like a lot of things
- 26:29Speaker 6: went their way last season, and it just I'm very
- 26:33Speaker 6: I've got a lot of cautious I've got a very
- 26:35Speaker 6: cautious outlook for them because their offseason was one of
- 26:38Speaker 6: the least exciting out of any team in the NFL.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Yeah, this is a Jags podcast. Okay, so watch yourself.
- 26:45Speaker 2: I know, no pleasure talking to you. We'll catch you
- 26:47Speaker 2: next time. Okay, is that here?
- 26:51Speaker 4: I disagree with you about Travis Hunter just because he
- 26:53Speaker 4: when he was healthy, was the most statistically impactful person
- 26:56Speaker 4: on both sides of the ball. But on the offensive side.
- 26:59Speaker 4: What are your thoughts on BTJ? He didn't show up
- 27:02Speaker 4: to this little like throwing thing that Trevor and the
- 27:05Speaker 4: rest of the offense did.
- 27:06Speaker 3: He was notably missing.
- 27:07Speaker 4: He has put on good weight. I know that it's
- 27:09Speaker 4: a make or break season for him. Hot take time.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Is he going to be back to rookie season? BTJ?
- 27:14Speaker 3: Or is he cooked?
- 27:16Speaker 6: I don't think he's cooked. I think that naturally a
- 27:18Speaker 6: lot of guys. It's progression and growth as a player.
- 27:21Speaker 5: It's not linear. Just because he had a down year
- 27:24Speaker 5: last year. I think it just was the fact that
- 27:27Speaker 5: he set such high expectations for himself.
- 27:29Speaker 6: I think that also, you have a new offensive play
- 27:32Speaker 6: caller and a new identity offensively, so like it's not
- 27:36Speaker 6: going to immediately flow into the next year. I'm hold
- 27:39Speaker 6: out hope because he's tremendously gifted. He is explosive, he's smooth,
- 27:43Speaker 6: he is capable of being a.
- 27:45Speaker 5: Huge, big play threat. I'm hold out hope.
- 27:47Speaker 6: I think that he's going to be fine because he's
- 27:49Speaker 6: only shown us what he's capable of. If he can
- 27:52Speaker 6: bridge the gap of the low of last season in
- 27:54Speaker 6: the really high quality twenty twenty four, if we can
- 27:56Speaker 6: kind of meet in the middle, he's one of the
- 27:58Speaker 6: better receivers in the end.
- 28:01Speaker 2: So kind of going down the list of teams that
- 28:04Speaker 2: we have planted our flag on throughout the course of
- 28:07Speaker 2: the offseason, and while I'd be remissed if I didn't
- 28:10Speaker 2: mention a team that I've been talking about since last
- 28:13Speaker 2: year's Super Bowl, when I placed a way too early
- 28:16Speaker 2: bet on the Atlanta Falcons, and I have since tripled
- 28:20Speaker 2: down on that not for the Super Bowl. That was
- 28:23Speaker 2: perhaps hasty and nature, but I do like them to
- 28:26Speaker 2: win the NFC South, another division that is nearly impossible
- 28:30Speaker 2: to figure out.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I think they're the most talented team in the division.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Obviously, we've got questions at quarterback that are only getting
- 28:37Speaker 2: louder as both Tua and Michael Pennix are not practicing
- 28:41Speaker 2: with the team right now. You can still get them
- 28:43Speaker 2: plus four to twenty five to win the NFC South,
- 28:45Speaker 2: a division that is completely up in the air, skill
- 28:48Speaker 2: position players everywhere, and some real talent on defense, especially
- 28:52Speaker 2: if James Pierce is able to evade prison.
- 28:54Speaker 1: So where are you on the Atlanta Falcons.
- 28:59Speaker 6: I think that the quarterback stuff is enough to get
- 29:02Speaker 6: pretty scared about, and I understand that defensively, they went
- 29:06Speaker 6: under the radar one of the best sack producing teams
- 29:09Speaker 6: in the NFL last year, and whole James Pierce Junior
- 29:12Speaker 6: things a little complicated to navigate because I don't think
- 29:15Speaker 6: anybody expected that he'd be able to step on in
- 29:18Speaker 6: the field this year with everything that went down with him.
- 29:21Speaker 5: I just have a lot of pause because two is
- 29:25Speaker 5: just not good.
- 29:26Speaker 6: And you're already there was a report today on Wednesday
- 29:29Speaker 6: that he's already dealing with lingering stuff, and he's just
- 29:32Speaker 6: been constantly banged up over the past few years, and
- 29:36Speaker 6: there's been a regression in his decision making.
- 29:39Speaker 5: Is just overall, I don't feel threatened by him.
- 29:42Speaker 6: I think that he was in the perfect situation to
- 29:44Speaker 6: have produced the way that he did to earn the
- 29:46Speaker 6: contract that he did with Tyreek and Waddle and a.
- 29:50Speaker 5: Great play caller.
- 29:52Speaker 6: Understandably, there's a lot of great pieces on this Falcons team.
- 29:55Speaker 6: But I just I don't know if I trust him.
- 29:58Speaker 6: I don't really trust Pennix because he's even more the
- 30:01Speaker 6: crepit than to his whole entire career. Since college, he's
- 30:05Speaker 6: been dealing with like serious major injuries that are starting
- 30:09Speaker 6: to now catch up to him in the league, which
- 30:12Speaker 6: is just frightening. Shoulders, knees, all these things are very
- 30:15Speaker 6: very problematic. My pick that I like for the NFC
- 30:18Speaker 6: South is the team that's right above them in the odds.
- 30:20Speaker 6: I love the Panthers at plus three ten. I just
- 30:23Speaker 6: think that this Panthers team is a team that focused
- 30:27Speaker 6: very aggressively on all, right, what are the things that
- 30:29Speaker 6: held us back? What are the position groups that we
- 30:31Speaker 6: need to buy into and to go and spend on
- 30:34Speaker 6: and use draft capital on.
- 30:36Speaker 5: They did it very very very deliberately so.
- 30:40Speaker 6: Jalen Phillips, who top sack producer or pressure producer, one
- 30:44Speaker 6: of the top pressure producers last year. He's not a
- 30:47Speaker 6: big finisher when it comes to sacks, but generating pressures
- 30:49Speaker 6: is very important. I think that even though they lost Scourton,
- 30:53Speaker 6: Uman Miellen is underrated and could maybe emerge as a
- 30:56Speaker 6: key piece in this pass rush. I loved the Lee Hunter.
- 31:00Speaker 6: I think that this defensive line could be one of
- 31:02Speaker 6: the better ones in the NFL, very sneakily, and I
- 31:04Speaker 6: think that their secondary has been great when jac Horn's
- 31:07Speaker 6: on the field. I think offensively drafting Mountain Roe Freeling
- 31:10Speaker 6: was an awesome selection, but I also loved them taking
- 31:12Speaker 6: Sam Hesht And then lastly, this team lacked explosiveness.
- 31:17Speaker 5: Through the air.
- 31:18Speaker 6: They were one of the they just didn't have like
- 31:20Speaker 6: a lot of like true like big plays. Ttero McMillan
- 31:23Speaker 6: was awesome, Jalen Coker is awesome. But because Zavier Leguett
- 31:26Speaker 6: never really emerged as the deep threat that I think
- 31:29Speaker 6: that everybody hoped he would, they went to Chris Brasel,
- 31:31Speaker 6: and I think that there's a chance that Chris Brasel
- 31:33Speaker 6: has a quietly productive rookie season. Maybe it's like a
- 31:37Speaker 6: six seven hundred yard year and a couple of big
- 31:39Speaker 6: touchdowns that helped them win games. I'm hinging a lot
- 31:42Speaker 6: on Bryce Young improving and being a lot better and
- 31:45Speaker 6: actually playing the same game to game instead of completely
- 31:49Speaker 6: collapsing and then having the three hundred, four hundred yards
- 31:52Speaker 6: or wherever he had against the Falcons last year. But
- 31:54Speaker 6: I think that they're capable of finally playing to what
- 31:58Speaker 6: everybody's been hoping that they were will be coming.
- 32:01Speaker 2: And that's the thing with this division is like I've
- 32:03Speaker 2: gone on this quest, as I mentioned, of finding who's
- 32:06Speaker 2: going to finish last in every division. Good luck with
- 32:09Speaker 2: the NFC South, And I've got Bucks Twitter, these homers
- 32:13Speaker 2: in my stadium.
- 32:14Speaker 3: You've weren't eaten alive the other day that I agreed
- 32:17Speaker 3: with this.
- 32:18Speaker 1: These people are.
- 32:19Speaker 2: I didn't realize that the Bucks had that many fans,
- 32:22Speaker 2: but they were.
- 32:23Speaker 1: These These folks were all over me.
- 32:26Speaker 2: If I'm looking at I like all of these teams,
- 32:28Speaker 2: and if I'm looking at who's gonna sink, what boat
- 32:31Speaker 2: is going down, it's probably Tampa's. They feel like the
- 32:34Speaker 2: one team in that division that's if you can get
- 32:37Speaker 2: past the quarterback thing with the Falcons. I get that
- 32:39Speaker 2: that's a major issue, and I'm probably over hyping them,
- 32:42Speaker 2: but the Bucks feel like a team that's arrows just
- 32:45Speaker 2: pointed in the wrong direction right now.
- 32:48Speaker 6: And there's been a gradual regression that only enough people
- 32:51Speaker 6: have been paying attention to, and and it's aging like
- 32:55Speaker 6: this is one of the worst things that a team
- 32:57Speaker 6: could go through, is that they're just slowly getting older
- 32:59Speaker 6: and there's not really been a young, up and coming replacement.
- 33:03Speaker 6: I think I love a book I think that a
- 33:04Speaker 6: Mecha Booka is going to be an awesome receiver for
- 33:06Speaker 6: this team, but a little troubling the second half finished
- 33:09Speaker 6: to the year where there was less production for him.
- 33:11Speaker 5: Mike Evans is gone.
- 33:13Speaker 6: So is a Buka going to just emerge as this
- 33:16Speaker 6: elite receiver for this team or is he more of
- 33:19Speaker 6: a productive wide receiver too. We have to determine that,
- 33:22Speaker 6: you know, God wouldn gonna be a good player for
- 33:24Speaker 6: this team is as well without Evans.
- 33:26Speaker 5: There's just so much that needs to be proven.
- 33:28Speaker 6: And you know, Baker another guy who was in consistent
- 33:31Speaker 6: with his health where he was awesome at the beginning
- 33:34Speaker 6: of the year. He's got lingering problems. He's playing through it,
- 33:37Speaker 6: but he just doesn't feel like the same player. That
- 33:39Speaker 6: was also a troubling issue. The last part with that
- 33:43Speaker 6: is defensively, your best player wants out, and I know
- 33:45Speaker 6: that this is a posturing for a contract extension, but
- 33:49Speaker 6: I don't know if they're gonna pay him what he's
- 33:51Speaker 6: looking for.
- 33:51Speaker 5: And if Videvea leaves, that defense is not as good
- 33:54Speaker 5: as it it once was.
- 33:57Speaker 6: As much as I think that Ruben Ban could be
- 33:58Speaker 6: a kick ass rookie, if they don't have Vea plug
- 34:01Speaker 6: in the middle of the field, that unit does not
- 34:03Speaker 6: work the same way that it did previously. Bain's ceiling,
- 34:06Speaker 6: I don't know if it gets hit without they being
- 34:09Speaker 6: there to cause disruption. Not to mention the fact that
- 34:12Speaker 6: their secondary was a pretty big liability last year. I
- 34:15Speaker 6: think the Buccaneers, even though they have the best odds
- 34:17Speaker 6: right now to win the division, I think that they're
- 34:19Speaker 6: the team to pick to finish in last All.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Right, we have finally found we found some consensus. Joe,
- 34:25Speaker 1: I like this. It took us a while to get here.
- 34:28Speaker 4: I was just gonna say, so far, we haven't really
- 34:30Speaker 4: been on the same page in the NFL.
- 34:31Speaker 3: So maybe before you find some.
- 34:32Speaker 4: Collegiate common ground, we've given you our hot takes for
- 34:35Speaker 4: the NFL season. What are your biggest hot takes that
- 34:38Speaker 4: you're tying your wagon to.
- 34:40Speaker 5: The one that I'm I feel pretty vindicated on.
- 34:44Speaker 6: I really really think that the Chicago Bears are going
- 34:48Speaker 6: to emerge as the one seed in the NFC. I
- 34:51Speaker 6: think that they're going to take a step and they're
- 34:53Speaker 6: going to start to separate from the rest of the
- 34:56Speaker 6: teams in the NFC. Now, there's going to be a
- 34:57Speaker 6: tight race, as we see every single year, but I
- 34:59Speaker 6: feel like the NFC is generally up for grabs, even
- 35:03Speaker 6: though Seattle and Los Angeles and everything happening in the
- 35:07Speaker 6: NFC West is a very very tight race.
- 35:10Speaker 5: I wonder if maybe they end up beating up on.
- 35:11Speaker 6: Each other enough that Chicago can sneak their way through
- 35:14Speaker 6: and have the best record. The Rams are still gonna
- 35:16Speaker 6: be the best team, They're probably gonna win the Super Bowl.
- 35:18Speaker 6: But I could totally see a world where Caleb Williams
- 35:22Speaker 6: second year in Ben Johnson's system. Ben Johnson's regarded as
- 35:25Speaker 6: this brilliant mastermind, the best offensive mind in the NFL.
- 35:29Speaker 6: He's just at the end of the season figured out
- 35:31Speaker 6: how to use all these pieces, and now they're stepping
- 35:34Speaker 6: into a year where Colston Lovelin can take a step,
- 35:36Speaker 6: Luther Burden can take a step.
- 35:37Speaker 5: Hopefully Roma Dunze takes that step as well.
- 35:40Speaker 6: Williams started to show us glimpses of those ridiculous plays
- 35:44Speaker 6: that he made when he was a Heisman Trophy winner
- 35:46Speaker 6: at USC and those little glimpses I think are going
- 35:49Speaker 6: to become a weekly occurrence with him.
- 35:51Speaker 5: He feels so much more confident.
- 35:53Speaker 6: In a confident Caleb Williams is something that the NFL
- 35:55Speaker 6: should not want to deal with now. The one pause
- 35:58Speaker 6: here is did they do enough defensive for them to
- 36:01Speaker 6: be prepared for going on a run like this and
- 36:04Speaker 6: being the best team and the number one seed in
- 36:06Speaker 6: the NFC. That remains to be proven. I think that
- 36:09Speaker 6: their defensive line is missing maybe one more piece, maybe
- 36:12Speaker 6: to go and get Videvea, which has been one of
- 36:14Speaker 6: the projected landing spots for him. But I think that
- 36:18Speaker 6: Caleb Williams is so gifted and he's been so doubted
- 36:22Speaker 6: early that this season sets up for him to shock
- 36:24Speaker 6: the NFL again.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Joe da Leone works for twenty four to seven Sports
- 36:29Speaker 2: as a podcast, the or a Fino and Joe show.
- 36:31Speaker 1: You can check that out.
- 36:32Speaker 2: They deep dive into college football, so much good content
- 36:36Speaker 2: on that YouTube page. If you love the college football world,
- 36:39Speaker 2: please go and check that out.
- 36:40Speaker 1: So let's transition Joe, Indiana and Miami in the title
- 36:43Speaker 1: game last year, just as we all predicted. Does that
- 36:47Speaker 1: make you want to run for the hills?
- 36:48Speaker 2: In terms of trying to predict who's gonna end up
- 36:50Speaker 2: in the college football playoff final that we have just
- 36:54Speaker 2: it has become quite unpredictable as far as the what
- 36:59Speaker 2: teams are making it to the finish line here, especially
- 37:01Speaker 2: with this expanded playoff.
- 37:03Speaker 6: I don't think it necessarily makes me want to run
- 37:05Speaker 6: for the hills. I think that to a degree, it
- 37:07Speaker 6: kind of makes it easier because we can be more
- 37:09Speaker 6: open in projecting potential options that could get to the
- 37:13Speaker 6: national championship. One of the mistakes that I felt like
- 37:14Speaker 6: I made going into last year is that it was
- 37:16Speaker 6: too finite in projecting who I thought was going to
- 37:20Speaker 6: get There. Was really big on Texas. It was a
- 37:22Speaker 6: year early on what Texas could accomplish. But I think
- 37:25Speaker 6: the better way to look at this is that once
- 37:26Speaker 6: that first month of the season happens, it's a little
- 37:29Speaker 6: bit easier to understand where everything's converging. After I saw
- 37:33Speaker 6: Miami beat Notre Dame, I declared that Miami was going
- 37:36Speaker 6: to get.
- 37:36Speaker 5: To the national championship.
- 37:37Speaker 6: Getting to see these teams up close and personal, to
- 37:40Speaker 6: see the way that they're going to perform against other
- 37:42Speaker 6: top contenders, I think it's a little bit easier to
- 37:44Speaker 6: establish who is.
- 37:45Speaker 5: Capable of going on that run.
- 37:47Speaker 6: But as unpredictable as it is, I think it's super fun.
- 37:50Speaker 6: I think that this is awesome now that while parody
- 37:54Speaker 6: has been misdescribed in college athletics, that you know now
- 37:58Speaker 6: like a team like Louisville could be a really team.
- 38:00Speaker 6: I don't think it's like that. I think it's more
- 38:01Speaker 6: so you could have ten teams that are competitive enough
- 38:05Speaker 6: in a playoff field that any of those ten teams
- 38:08Speaker 6: could go on a run and could get to a
- 38:10Speaker 6: national championship.
- 38:12Speaker 5: And when you have.
- 38:13Speaker 6: Engagement and involvement from all of those fan bases, it
- 38:16Speaker 6: makes it way more fun to talk about.
- 38:18Speaker 5: It makes it way more fun to follow.
- 38:20Speaker 6: But to kind of sum this up into your point,
- 38:23Speaker 6: I'm sure that whatever prediction I put out right now
- 38:25Speaker 6: is going to be proven wrong by week two of
- 38:28Speaker 6: the season.
- 38:29Speaker 3: I'm an SEC girl, so I'm an SEC truther.
- 38:32Speaker 4: However, it feels like a lot of people are talking
- 38:35Speaker 4: about that the SEC might be dead. Where do you
- 38:38Speaker 4: stand on maybe the Big Ten taking over college football?
- 38:41Speaker 3: Is the SEC dead?
- 38:42Speaker 4: Is there any value on getting in on an SEC
- 38:45Speaker 4: team future?
- 38:47Speaker 5: I don't think that the SEC is dead.
- 38:49Speaker 6: I just think that the past couple of years have
- 38:52Speaker 6: benefited the Big Ten programs that have financially invested very
- 38:56Speaker 6: aggressively in building up their teams. But there is a
- 38:59Speaker 6: lot of investment with a lot of the top teams
- 39:00Speaker 6: in the SEC as well. To me, there's two clear
- 39:04Speaker 6: teams that are worth putting futures on, and then there's
- 39:07Speaker 6: the third that I think is a sneaky team that
- 39:09Speaker 6: could shock a lot of people, could be the Miami
- 39:11Speaker 6: of this year. Texas and Georgia are the easy ones.
- 39:14Speaker 6: Texas has Arch Manning. He started to prove that he's
- 39:17Speaker 6: capable of being the best quarterback in the country. When
- 39:20Speaker 6: you have the best quarterback in the country and an
- 39:22Speaker 6: underrated offensive line that improved dramatically, Melvinciani and Trevor Goosby
- 39:28Speaker 6: could be first round picks. You have Cam Coleman, who
- 39:31Speaker 6: could be a top fifteen pick. You've got a defense
- 39:33Speaker 6: that's led by Colin Simmons who should be a top
- 39:35Speaker 6: three pick. There's just elite not just NFL town, but
- 39:37Speaker 6: elite NFL talent all over that roster, led by a
- 39:40Speaker 6: supremely gifted quarterback who's now confident that team is capable
- 39:46Speaker 6: of going to a national title. I think that they're
- 39:48Speaker 6: going to have a really strong record in the SEC
- 39:52Speaker 6: this year, and they're going to be able to beat
- 39:53Speaker 6: many of the teams that they square off with. Georgia
- 39:56Speaker 6: to me, is an experienced squad that runs the ball well.
- 39:59Speaker 5: They're bringing back most of their offensive line.
- 40:01Speaker 6: I think Gunner Stockton is underappreciated in Heisman race because
- 40:05Speaker 6: he's super gutsy. He's willing to put his body on
- 40:07Speaker 6: the line. He makes clutch plays when needed. Their defense
- 40:10Speaker 6: needs to figure out their pass rush, but they're still
- 40:12Speaker 6: both those teams are are primed and capable of going
- 40:15Speaker 6: toe to toe with any of the top teams in
- 40:18Speaker 6: the Big Ten. I like Oklahoma, though, is the sneaky
- 40:20Speaker 6: pick to win the SEC or at least to go
- 40:23Speaker 6: on a national championship run if they don't win the SEC.
- 40:26Speaker 6: I can see them going ten to two, losing to
- 40:28Speaker 6: Texas and to Georgia, running through the rest of their schedule,
- 40:31Speaker 6: and then shocking a few teams in the College Football
- 40:34Speaker 6: PLAYFF because they have the best defense in the SEC
- 40:37Speaker 6: in my eyes, one of the best defense in the country,
- 40:39Speaker 6: top two behind maybe Oregon and John Mattier dealt with
- 40:43Speaker 6: a lot of problems last year because of his hand.
- 40:46Speaker 6: I think that as he starts to get his confidence back,
- 40:48Speaker 6: now that his hands healthy and he's added some bulk
- 40:51Speaker 6: to his frame, he's going to perform better. The offense
- 40:53Speaker 6: is going to perform better. The offensive line should improvement.
- 40:56Speaker 6: Oklahoma is a really intriguing option for me that could
- 40:59Speaker 6: do damage in the SEC in twenty twenty six.
- 41:03Speaker 2: So Texas is clearly among these teams. So if I'm
- 41:07Speaker 2: looking at who are the dominant teams going into the season,
- 41:11Speaker 2: the teams that just have a next level amount of
- 41:15Speaker 2: talent on their roster, Texas is one. You mentioned, Georgia,
- 41:19Speaker 2: I'm guessing they're on the list. Oregon has been recruiting
- 41:23Speaker 2: really well. Ohio State am I missing anyone or are
- 41:27Speaker 2: any of those teams.
- 41:27Speaker 5: Not on the list in terms of cap in terms
- 41:31Speaker 5: of just.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Like we're if we're tiering teams, not based on odds
- 41:36Speaker 2: or what you expect or coaching, just simply they have
- 41:40Speaker 2: the most NFL talent on their roster that if we're
- 41:44Speaker 2: betting on the talent, then those are the teams.
- 41:47Speaker 1: That are are in a sort of a group of
- 41:49Speaker 1: their own.
- 41:50Speaker 6: Yeah, I think that all those teams definitely fit it.
- 41:52Speaker 6: And I think that Miami and Notre Dame. I think
- 41:55Speaker 6: that also fit into that picture as well.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Notre Dame.
- 42:00Speaker 5: Their offense outside of CJ. Carr, it's solid.
- 42:04Speaker 6: There's a bunch of new receivers that they brought in,
- 42:06Speaker 6: and I think that they're gonna be a little bit
- 42:09Speaker 6: more explosive through the air, but defensively, for the past
- 42:12Speaker 6: two years since they got to a national title, they've
- 42:15Speaker 6: had some really premier talent on defense. Kingston Villiamo, assa linebacker,
- 42:21Speaker 6: is a guy that is highly regarded in NFL circles.
- 42:24Speaker 6: Bubakar Treori as well as a potential Top one hundred pick.
- 42:28Speaker 6: Leonard Moore is possibly a top five pick at corner.
- 42:32Speaker 6: He's such a rare prospect. Hey Johnson's one of the
- 42:35Speaker 6: best safeties in the country.
- 42:36Speaker 5: Drake Bowen's a really good player as well.
- 42:39Speaker 6: There's just so many different experienced defensive pieces on that
- 42:42Speaker 6: team that this roster has the core pieces capable of
- 42:46Speaker 6: winning a title this upcoming year. They've got a really
- 42:48Speaker 6: easy schedule. It kind of begs the question, and I
- 42:50Speaker 6: think can be challenged enough outside of that Miami game
- 42:53Speaker 6: to be ready for the war ahead in the college
- 42:56Speaker 6: football playoffs. But they certainly have that roster. And I
- 42:59Speaker 6: think that this Miami team as well, I've been projecting.
- 43:02Speaker 6: I think Darien Mensa, he's been my heisman pick. I
- 43:05Speaker 6: think that he with bar Kate and with Tony it's
- 43:08Speaker 6: going to be so much more explosive. It's going to
- 43:10Speaker 6: look so different from what it did a year ago
- 43:14Speaker 6: on offense, where they had to lean on their run game.
- 43:16Speaker 6: Now they get to take shots like they did when
- 43:18Speaker 6: they had cam Ward. Shannon Dawson wants to attack downfield,
- 43:21Speaker 6: and Darien Mensa throws such a beautiful deep ball. I
- 43:24Speaker 6: think that there's so much talent at receiver. I think
- 43:26Speaker 6: there's a lot of talent on their defense. Amon Moten
- 43:29Speaker 6: and Justin Scott could both potentially be first round defensive tackles.
- 43:32Speaker 6: Damon Wilson could be an early top one hundred draft pick.
- 43:36Speaker 6: Marquis Lightfoots, a former five star Athletesavier Lucas is a
- 43:39Speaker 6: player to watch, as well as oj Frederic at their
- 43:42Speaker 6: corner spots could be drafted relatively highly. I think Miami
- 43:45Speaker 6: and notre name absolutely fit in that picture with the
- 43:48Speaker 6: you know, the Ohio States, the Oregons, the Georgia's, and
- 43:51Speaker 6: the Texas' of the you know who has the best
- 43:54Speaker 6: rosters in college football conversation?
- 43:57Speaker 4: So in order right now, the favorites to win the
- 43:59Speaker 4: national championship or Ohio State and their name, Texas, Indiana, Oregon,
- 44:04Speaker 4: Georgia followed by Miami. Are there any of these teams
- 44:08Speaker 4: that you think are or are expecting to have a
- 44:10Speaker 4: huge falloff that you wouldn't touch in any kind of future.
- 44:15Speaker 6: I don't think that any of those teams I would
- 44:19Speaker 6: see much of.
- 44:20Speaker 5: A falloff on.
- 44:22Speaker 6: And I know that it almost kind of sounds naive
- 44:25Speaker 6: to say that because last year Penn State and Clemson
- 44:27Speaker 6: were at the top of those conversations that the odds
- 44:31Speaker 6: last year, and they it wasn't like Texas. Texas lost
- 44:35Speaker 6: a game that they weren't supposed to and lost tight
- 44:37Speaker 6: games against some of their best opponents, and they went
- 44:39Speaker 6: nine to three for that marginal slight step back of
- 44:43Speaker 6: expectation doesn't fit the same narrative to me. But last
- 44:47Speaker 6: year we had disastrous seasons from Penn State and from Clemson,
- 44:49Speaker 6: So I'm a little wary to state that. But at
- 44:54Speaker 6: the same time, I don't. I think that all these teams,
- 44:57Speaker 6: the rosters are way too talented to reject that there
- 45:01Speaker 6: would be some drastic collapse. The big thing that might
- 45:05Speaker 6: change that is if there is an injury, like if
- 45:07Speaker 6: Arch Manning got hurt. I don't trust the quarterback room
- 45:11Speaker 6: at Texas.
- 45:12Speaker 5: If CJ. Carr got hurt, same thing.
- 45:15Speaker 1: They don't.
- 45:16Speaker 6: They've got too many young quarterbacks. And it's been like
- 45:18Speaker 6: a big talking point in Notre Dame circles is if
- 45:21Speaker 6: cr Car goes down, what the hell are you supposed
- 45:24Speaker 6: to do? Your run game is not going to be
- 45:25Speaker 6: the same as it was with Jeremiah Love and J
- 45:27Speaker 6: Darnin Price. Is there going to be somebody that could
- 45:30Speaker 6: step in if Car gets.
- 45:31Speaker 5: Hit with an injury.
- 45:33Speaker 6: It's not like with Oregon or even a you know,
- 45:35Speaker 6: team like LSU or Georgia where there is deep recruiting
- 45:38Speaker 6: a quarterback where you could survive.
- 45:40Speaker 5: So those are probably the.
- 45:41Speaker 6: Only two teams that could maybe fail to meet expectations
- 45:44Speaker 6: if there was some sort of an injury at quarterback.
- 45:48Speaker 2: We haven't seen a preseason favorite for Heisman Trophy win
- 45:52Speaker 2: the award since Marcus Mariota in twenty fourteen. Why do
- 45:58Speaker 2: we get it wrong so freaking with this award?
- 46:02Speaker 6: I just think that the award itself, the preseason conversation
- 46:08Speaker 6: is always around the player. But then when it comes
- 46:12Speaker 6: time for the award, for the most part, a lot
- 46:14Speaker 6: of times we talk about the best player and the
- 46:16Speaker 6: best team. Now, I know, you had Jane Daniels win
- 46:18Speaker 6: it because he just put up gaudy statistics, and you
- 46:21Speaker 6: Travis Hunter win it because he did something otherworldly that
- 46:24Speaker 6: nobody's ever seen. But I think that naturally, over the
- 46:26Speaker 6: course of the season, as much as we might like
- 46:29Speaker 6: certain players, the narrative shifts.
- 46:32Speaker 5: To the team that we're all talking about the most.
- 46:34Speaker 6: It's how you know, the media's narratives are built is
- 46:38Speaker 6: always around the collective team rather than the player.
- 46:40Speaker 5: Because it's such a team centric sport.
- 46:43Speaker 6: I just think that there's always way too much that
- 46:45Speaker 6: can change for a singular, particular player that leads to
- 46:50Speaker 6: such a variance of outcomes by the end of the year.
- 46:53Speaker 6: And it creates these opportunities for these players that come
- 46:56Speaker 6: completely out of nowhere, like a Fernanda Mendoza, to you
- 46:59Speaker 6: rise up and to end up winning it like you
- 47:01Speaker 6: did this past season. So there's a you know, probably
- 47:05Speaker 6: a long essay that could be told on this story.
- 47:07Speaker 6: But I think that it's just the difference in the
- 47:09Speaker 6: way that it's talked about before the season at the
- 47:11Speaker 6: end of the season, it's it's starkly different.
- 47:13Speaker 2: It's an interesting point because I think it works both ways.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Where you have the media tends to gravitate towards the
- 47:21Speaker 2: teams that are excelling, but if the team as a
- 47:23Speaker 2: whole is excelling too much, we have a star running
- 47:27Speaker 2: back of star wide receivers, the defense is great.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Look at Ohio State.
- 47:31Speaker 2: Julian Sayin, I think was held back in the Heisman
- 47:34Speaker 2: conversation because his team was so good, whereas you have Mendoza,
- 47:39Speaker 2: who their team was really good, but he got most
- 47:41Speaker 2: of the credit.
- 47:42Speaker 1: So you kind of have to have. It's a good
- 47:44Speaker 1: point that you bring up, but it has to kind.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Of fit that that narrow margin of your team is
- 47:50Speaker 2: really good.
- 47:51Speaker 1: But you're the one that gets the credit for it.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Okay, we have a bet to make and we can
- 47:54Speaker 2: plant the flag on a Heisman Trophy winner.
- 47:57Speaker 1: You and I might be aligned and how we're thinking.
- 48:00Speaker 2: But Milburn Deli, I have been told that this is
- 48:04Speaker 2: one of the best places that you can eat in
- 48:07Speaker 2: the New Jersey, New York area. I have not eaten
- 48:10Speaker 2: there myself, but since it did land on our show doc,
- 48:14Speaker 2: I did a little bit of research on this place.
- 48:17Speaker 2: The menu is short, which I think always is always
- 48:20Speaker 2: a tell that the food is phenomenal because you don't
- 48:23Speaker 2: have to overload the customer with options. I was really
- 48:27Speaker 2: blown away with what I saw. But overrated, underrated, properly
- 48:30Speaker 2: rated on Milburn Deli.
- 48:33Speaker 1: Well, first of.
- 48:33Speaker 6: All, you might have been looking at the wrong menu,
- 48:35Speaker 6: because if you go in person to the Milburn Deli,
- 48:38Speaker 6: maybe it's the online menu if you go in person.
- 48:40Speaker 6: They've also opened up a couple other locations that aren't
- 48:43Speaker 6: in Milburn. The list is like the list on the wall,
- 48:47Speaker 6: is comically long. Maybe they've shortened it recently.
- 48:49Speaker 5: I haven't been back.
- 48:50Speaker 2: You know, the odd the online one that I looked at,
- 48:52Speaker 2: there are about five sandwiches.
- 48:54Speaker 1: They all looked great.
- 48:55Speaker 5: More than that, there's way more than five. I should
- 48:58Speaker 5: ask how many was on there.
- 48:59Speaker 6: There's there's a long long list of available sandwiches.
- 49:02Speaker 1: That they have.
- 49:03Speaker 6: Best sandwich that if you're ever near Melbourn The Godfather,
- 49:06Speaker 6: which is chicken cutlet, Russian dressing, mozzarella, cheese, bacon on
- 49:11Speaker 6: like like a subrole.
- 49:12Speaker 5: It's so good.
- 49:13Speaker 6: I think it is underrated. I think it's incredibly underrated.
- 49:17Speaker 6: The one story that I was able to tell I
- 49:19Speaker 6: when I went to college. So I'm from Milbourn. For
- 49:20Speaker 6: anyone who's kind of like wondering why we're talking about this,
- 49:23Speaker 6: but when I went to college, I played football Rhode Island.
- 49:27Speaker 6: I would just tell everybody, I'm like, my town's known
- 49:30Speaker 6: for the deli that's in Melbourn. It's the best deli
- 49:33Speaker 6: in New Jersey. And everybody would kind of scoff at me.
- 49:37Speaker 6: My current roommate and my roommate from college, he would
- 49:40Speaker 6: always battle me on food takes. So finally I bring
- 49:43Speaker 6: him a sandwich and he immediately conceded. I gave him
- 49:45Speaker 6: a godfather. I'm like, you need to try this. He's like,
- 49:48Speaker 6: this is the best sandwich I've ever had in my life.
- 49:50Speaker 6: So it's underrated because I think that people automatically get
- 49:54Speaker 6: up in arms when you tell them that their deli
- 49:56Speaker 6: is not as you know, as good as the one
- 49:58Speaker 6: that you're projecting Milbourne Dellies, the best deli that you're
- 50:00Speaker 6: ever gonna go to in your life.
- 50:02Speaker 1: I'm sold. I'm all in. I'm all in. You had me,
- 50:06Speaker 1: You had me at bacon and Russian dressing.
- 50:08Speaker 2: All right, let's plant the flag on a college football
- 50:12Speaker 2: conference champion or a Heisman Trophy winner so you can
- 50:15Speaker 2: choose your future path the one that suits you best.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Mind the flag in a shut up. I'm trying to
- 50:22Speaker 1: plant my flag here. Okay, you're really planning your flag
- 50:25Speaker 1: in that deck.
- 50:26Speaker 2: I'm gonna get this one out of the way because
- 50:28Speaker 2: it's gonna otherwise sound like I'm stealing from our great guest,
- 50:31Speaker 2: Joe da Leone. I like Darian Menzilan the Heisman as
- 50:35Speaker 2: well twelve to one on Draft Kings. The last four
- 50:38Speaker 2: Heisman winners have been transfer portal babies, so there's some
- 50:42Speaker 2: sort of trend that's forming there. We also have a
- 50:45Speaker 2: healthy rotation of different conferences that have been represented over
- 50:48Speaker 2: the last couple of years. Everybody but the ACC, so
- 50:52Speaker 2: it's their turn to step right up. He's got elite
- 50:54Speaker 2: weaponry with Malachai Tony, the team should be good. He
- 50:58Speaker 2: checks a lot of those boxes for me, So I'm
- 51:00Speaker 2: with you, Joe. Let's go ahead and hammer that Darien
- 51:03Speaker 2: Mensa future bet.
- 51:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 51:05Speaker 6: I think that I was debating maybe pitching one of
- 51:09Speaker 6: my picks for one of these conferences, but like the
- 51:12Speaker 6: ones that I feel vindicated in are like Miami to
- 51:14Speaker 6: win the ACC and Texas Tech to win the Big Twelve.
- 51:17Speaker 6: But that's not fun because their odds are. I mean,
- 51:19Speaker 6: it's minus one forty five for Miami to win the
- 51:21Speaker 6: ACC and it's plus one hundred for Texas Tech.
- 51:24Speaker 5: To win the Big Twelve.
- 51:25Speaker 6: I'm gonna stick with the Darry Mansa take because it's
- 51:27Speaker 6: one that I have been planting my flag in.
- 51:29Speaker 5: I've done this previously.
- 51:31Speaker 6: I said that cam Ward was gonna be the first
- 51:33Speaker 6: overall pick, well before anybody was hyping him up. And
- 51:36Speaker 6: I think a lot of that had to do with
- 51:38Speaker 6: Ward stepping into the right offense with the right pieces
- 51:40Speaker 6: for him to put up gaudy stats. Carson Beck was
- 51:43Speaker 6: just not the type of quarterback that I think that
- 51:45Speaker 6: Dawson Shannon Dawson.
- 51:47Speaker 5: Needed to like really really produce.
- 51:49Speaker 6: Offensively the way that we were used to. They made
- 51:51Speaker 6: the right adjustments to lean on the run game, to
- 51:53Speaker 6: lean on Fletcher and on Brown. But I think that
- 51:57Speaker 6: now that they've got a guy who's good at improvising,
- 51:59Speaker 6: who's got really good touch, He's a natural thrower, not
- 52:02Speaker 6: as strong of an arm as cam Ward, he's gonna
- 52:05Speaker 6: put up similar stats to what kim Ward did. He's
- 52:07Speaker 6: at least going to be a finalist in my eyes.
- 52:09Speaker 6: I mentioned it earlier. His ability to throw a deep ball.
- 52:13Speaker 6: It's the best that I've seen of any of the quarterbacks.
- 52:15Speaker 6: He always just puts it in the right spot so
- 52:17Speaker 6: those guys can come down with it.
- 52:18Speaker 5: They don't have to really adjust or contort or anything.
- 52:21Speaker 6: You've got Barcade who has already thrown those deep balls
- 52:23Speaker 6: too along the sideline. Now we get the chance to
- 52:26Speaker 6: see Alekai Tony explode to to be able to do
- 52:29Speaker 6: more within this offense that they can attack downfield. I
- 52:32Speaker 6: think it's just a no brainer to buy into this
- 52:34Speaker 6: because all these other players that at the top of
- 52:36Speaker 6: the odds, there's too many contingencies.
- 52:38Speaker 5: CJ.
- 52:38Speaker 6: Carr to the new receivers mesh with the offense effectively.
- 52:41Speaker 6: Does Archie Manning have a consistent year and he's got
- 52:43Speaker 6: a tough schedule ahead?
- 52:45Speaker 5: Is Chambli is gonna build off of.
- 52:47Speaker 6: The magic that he had a year ago, saying had
- 52:49Speaker 6: trouble against teams that sent a lot of pressure at him.
- 52:52Speaker 5: So there's too many questions.
- 52:52Speaker 6: I think that Mensa is one of the more question
- 52:55Speaker 6: free quarterbacks, which kind of sounds crazy to say.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Yeah, and Malachai Tony could end up stealing some of
- 53:00Speaker 2: that shine because he's versatile and Heisman voters love that versatility,
- 53:05Speaker 2: but quarterbacks tend to win the award. Kendra, what is
- 53:09Speaker 2: your plant the Flag bet this week?
- 53:12Speaker 4: My choice is a little bit chalky, but I'm gonna
- 53:14Speaker 4: go with Georgia to win the SEC. They didn't have
- 53:16Speaker 4: a ton of roster turnover obviously at coaching continuity. As
- 53:19Speaker 4: far as I'm aware, there is no true freshman gonna
- 53:21Speaker 4: be starting on defense, and I don't trust arch Manning,
- 53:23Speaker 4: so I'm gonna go with the Chalk the Chalky choice
- 53:26Speaker 4: here in the SEC and take Georgia to take it
- 53:28Speaker 4: home Georgia.
- 53:30Speaker 2: To win the SEC for Kendra and Joe and I
- 53:33Speaker 2: and lockstep with Darien Mensa twelfth to one to win
- 53:36Speaker 2: the Heisman Trophy Award. Joe Dalleone make sure you go
