- 0:04Scram, Dennis. You can't play here.
- 0:07Yes, I can. No, you can't.
- 0:09I was here first. So you don't own this ground?
- 0:12Then who does? God, how do you know?
- 0:15The Bible says so. I read it this morning.
- 0:17You're lying. You can't even.
- 0:19Read The Earth is the Lords and all its Fullness the World and
- 0:24Those who dwell there. In Psalm 24 one, what was?
- 0:27That that's what I read. It's a Bible verse.
- 0:30God is the boss over all the earth and everyone in it.
- 0:34Now watch out. I wouldn't want to accidentally
- 0:36hit you with my baseball bat. I'm telling my mom.
- 0:41Was it something I said. So I see you're still here on my
- 0:50jump roping ground. This is in your jump roping
- 0:53ground. Well, it's not your baseball
- 0:55ground, Margaret. You don't play baseball on the
- 0:58ground, you play on a diamond. Diamonds are for girls.
- 1:02Everyone knows that. A baseball diamond is different
- 1:05from a girl's diamond. What's the difference, smarty
- 1:08pants? Girls, diamonds are small, stuck
- 1:11to a necklace. Baseball diamonds are big, so
- 1:15you can put bases on them. Well, I told my mom on you and
- 1:18she said you had to leave. Did you tell your mom my Bible
- 1:22verse? The earth is the Lord and all
- 1:24its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.
- 1:28Psalm 24 one. No, I didn't tell her that.
- 1:31Well, you better go tell her, cause God is the boss over all
- 1:34the earth and everyone in it. Fine, I will.
- 1:39I suppose she could play baseball with me if she wanted
- 1:42to. That is.
- 1:47OK, Dennis, your time's up. What do you mean?
- 1:50My time's up? I told my mom.
- 1:52The Bible verse, You know, the one that says the earth is the
- 1:56Lord's in all its fullness, the world and those who dwell
- 2:00therein. Psalm 24 one.
- 2:02What did she say? She said it's true because God
- 2:05is the boss over all the earth and everyone in it.
- 2:08That's what I've been telling you.
- 2:10My mom said that we should take turns playing since it belongs
- 2:14to God and he loves us both. So your time is up.
- 2:17I'm not finished playing yet, Dennis.
- 2:20I'm warning you. If you don't leave right now, I
- 2:23will scream so awfully horribly loud that my mom will think that
- 2:27you're trying to murder me. And I'll tell her you were, and
- 2:30she'll believe me. Because boys are like that and
- 2:32girls aren't. I have to get going now, so I
- 2:36suppose you can jump rope here for a while.
- 2:45It's boring here all by myself. I suppose I could play baseball
- 2:49with Dennis. That is, if you'll let me.
- 2:53Oh, Dennis. I'm telling you, Martha, when I
- 3:06was a kid we didn't even think about smoking marijuana or using
- 3:11any of those other drugs. George, they didn't even have
- 3:15children's aspirin when you were a child.
- 3:18I know that, and that's exactly my point.
- 3:21How do you expect a kid like Dennis to say no to drugs?
- 3:24He's going to try them at some point.
- 3:26He's bound to. He's just like every other kid
- 3:29in the world. Are we talking about the same,
- 3:32Dennis? Like every other kid in the
- 3:34world, George. OK, so he's a little energetic.
- 3:38You mix his energy level with drugs and we've got trouble on
- 3:42our hands. That's why we've got to sell our
- 3:45home and move away from this neighborhood.
- 3:48That's nonsense, George. Dennis would never take drugs.
- 3:52How? Can you be so sure?
- 3:55Wilson. Hi, Mr. Wilson.
- 4:02Hi, Mrs. Wilson. Guess what I have hidden?
- 4:06Drugs. George, stop that.
- 4:08We asked. Mr. Wilson is just teasing.
- 4:11Dear, what do you have hidden? I've hidden God's word in my
- 4:15heart that I might not sit against him someone 1911.
- 4:21Did you hear that, George? Oh yeah, sure, sure.
- 4:26Uh huh. Say it again, Dennis.
- 4:28I'm not sure Mr. Wilson heard you.
- 4:31He must not have his hearing aid on yet.
- 4:33I don't wear a hearing aid. I've hidden God's word of my
- 4:37heart that I might not sin against him, so I'm 1/19/11.
- 4:42You don't have to yell. I better get going, Mrs. Wilson.
- 4:46I can tell Mr. Wilson is a little grumpy.
- 4:49He needs to try putting God's word in his heart and he won't
- 4:52want to be grumpy anymore. See, George, I told you Dennis
- 5:02would never take drugs. He's a child dedicated to
- 5:05pleasing God. Uh oh.
- 5:09Did you hear that? What?
- 5:10What's Dennis done now? Well, don't just stand there.
- 5:14Let's go. Make sure he's Okay.
- 5:16Come on, George. Okay.
- 5:31So maybe, just maybe, Dennis won't do drugs.
- 5:35The kid will join a gang. I'm telling you, he's gang
- 5:38material. He'll probably be the leader of
- 5:40his own game, spray painting his initials all over the
- 5:43neighborhood. And then he'll be carrying a
- 5:45gun. And Powell?
- 5:45Someone's dead. George, quit talking like that.
- 5:48Dennis is a good boy. How do you expect a kid like
- 5:51Dennis to say no to joining a game?
- 5:54He's bound to join one. Mark my words, he's just like
- 5:58every other kid in the world. Like every other kid in the
- 6:01world, George, didn't you hear what I said earlier?
- 6:04He's a child dedicated to pleasing God.
- 6:07I heard you. Now you hear me?
- 6:10You mix his energy level with a gang and we've got trouble on
- 6:13our hands. That's why we've got to sell our
- 6:16home and move away from this neighborhood.
- 6:19That's nonsense, George Dennis would never join a gang.
- 6:22How can you be so sure parents aren't the same as they were
- 6:26when you and I grew up? These days, everyone is too busy
- 6:29to spend time with their own kids.
- 6:32They're left alone all day, free to roam the neighborhood feeling
- 6:35like nobody cares. Look, there's Dennis, now
- 6:38roaming the neighborhood. Oh, Dennis, could you come here
- 6:43please dear? Hi, Mrs. Wilson.
- 6:50Hi, Mr. Wilson, would you? Tell Mr. Wilson what you have
- 6:53hidden in your heart. Does he finally have his hearing
- 6:57aid in? No, I don't have my hearing aid
- 6:59in. I've hidden God's word of my
- 7:01heart that I might not sin against him, so I'm 1/19/11.
- 7:06You don't have to yell. Dennis, Mr. Wilson doesn't wear
- 7:10a hearing aid. Perhaps you could repeat that
- 7:13verse a little quieter for him. OK, I've hidden God's word in my
- 7:18heart that I might not sit against him some 1/19/11.
- 7:23Thank you, Dennis. That's all I needed right now.
- 7:27You're welcome, Mrs. Wilson. You know something?
- 7:30Maybe you should make Mr. Wilson wear his hearing aid every
- 7:34morning like my mom makes me wear clean underwear.
- 7:42I hear fine. I don't need a hearing aid.
- 7:45You better go lie down, dear. You look frustrated.
- 7:49You'd be frustrated too, if you live next door to that kid.
- 7:52I do live next door to him, dear.
- 7:55I'm your wife, remember? Okay.
- 8:06So let's say Dennis doesn't use drugs or join a game.
- 8:09What about lying, stealing, and getting into fights?
- 8:12That sort of thing. George, did you ever lie or
- 8:15steal when you were a boy? Did you ever get into fights?
- 8:18Yes, and that's exactly my point.
- 8:22Doesn't it bother you that we're living next to someone that
- 8:24could steal something from us and lie about it at the same
- 8:27time while fighting with that dopey kid down the street over
- 8:30it? What on earth are you talking
- 8:32about? I'm talking about getting out of
- 8:35this neighborhood while we still have everything.
- 8:38George, what do we have that Dennis would want to steal?
- 8:41I don't know. Mr. Wilson.
- 8:44Oh, Mr. Wilson. It's Dennis Quick, hide your
- 8:48valuables. George.
- 8:54Mr. Wilson, guess what? I was riding my bike, minding my
- 8:58own business, when I saw this kid stealing your tractor
- 9:02sprinkler. That's it, Martha.
- 9:03He'd steal our tractor sprinkler and lie about it to our face.
- 9:07George, please. Oh no, Mr. Wilson.
- 9:10He didn't lie about it. I asked what he was doing with
- 9:14your tractor sprinkler and he said he was stealing it.
- 9:17But don't worry, I brought it back for you.
- 9:20Oh yeah, sure. How did you get it?
- 9:23He had to give it to me after I beat him.
- 9:25Ah, did you hear that Martha? Dennis beat up the dopey kid
- 9:28down the street? That does it.
- 9:30We're moving. Wait, Mr. Wilson, I didn't beat
- 9:33him up. I beat him in a game of
- 9:35basketball. You beat him in basketball.
- 9:39And he didn't steal the tractor sprinkler or lie about it.
- 9:43He brought it back to you, George.
- 9:45Did you think I stole it, Mr. Wilson?
- 9:48Well. Mr. Wilson, my mom, said we are
- 9:51dedicated to pleasing God. I've hidden God's word in my
- 9:56heart that I might not sit against him.
- 9:59George, you owe him an apology. Well, I never actually said he
- 10:05stole it, George. It's OK, Mrs. Wilson.
- 10:09All people are just like that sometimes.
- 10:16He just called me old. He he never actually said you
- 10:19were. Old I'm not old.
- 10:22I can hear fine and my mind's as sharp as attack.
- 10:25Well then, what was the verse Dennis just quoted?
- 10:29How am I supposed to know? Weren't you listening of?
- 10:32Course, I was listening. Well then, what's the verse?
- 10:36You tell me if you're so smart. I have hidden God's word in my
- 10:40heart that I might not sin against him.
- 10:43Psalm 1/19/11. Tomorrow we'll go see the doctor
- 10:47and have your hearing checked, dear.
- 10:50Fine. He'll tell you just what I've
- 10:52been telling you. There's nothing wrong with my
- 10:54hearing. If you're not losing your
- 10:57hearing, then we'll know it's your mind.
- 11:00I'm not losing my mind. Hi Margaret.
- 11:10What you doing? You wouldn't understand.
- 11:13Yes, I would. No, you wouldn't.
- 11:15Would too. Would not.
- 11:17Why don't you try me? 'Cause you're just a child.
- 11:20I know I am, but what are you? I'm a mature woman, Dennis, and
- 11:24that's why I'm working on my science project.
- 11:27I did a science project once. I can dissect a frog.
- 11:31That's utterly and totally disgusting.
- 11:34My science project is to prove The Big Bang theory and the
- 11:38evolution of the one celled amoeba that crawled out of the
- 11:42ocean, developed into a monkey, and finally, over the course of
- 11:46millions of years, evolved into you.
- 11:49The Bible explains how I got here.
- 11:52You don't actually believe the Bible, do you, Dennis?
- 11:55Of course I do, don't you? The Bible is just a book of
- 11:58fairy tales. It is not.
- 12:00Is too. Well, I say let God be true, but
- 12:04every man a liar. Romans 3/4.
- 12:07So I'm a girl. It's for girls too.
- 12:10Man means humans. I'm not talking to you anymore,
- 12:13Dennis. Some people just don't like
- 12:17hearing the truth. If I was gonna evolve from
- 12:26something, I would want to evolve from a dinosaur.
- 12:30Why is that? Because dinosaurs are big and
- 12:33strong, like me. Dennis, you're so totally,
- 12:36awfully nothing like a dinosaur. I was just kidding.
- 12:40I don't believe in evolution. Whatever.
- 12:44My teacher says we came from monkeys and that's final.
- 12:47Oh yeah, well just cause your teacher says it doesn't make it
- 12:51true. My teachers been to college.
- 12:53That's where smart people go. I don't care.
- 12:56Let God be true, but every man a liar.
- 13:00Romans 3/4. I'm going to close my eyes and
- 13:03cover my ears so I can't hear you.
- 13:06Let God be true, but every man a liar.
- 13:09Romans 3/4. I still can't hear you.
- 13:19Is that a Bible you're reading? Margaret, it most certainly is
- 13:22Dennis. Do you have a problem with that?
- 13:25No, of course not. What?
- 13:27You're reading the Bible. For it's for my science project.
- 13:30If you must know, I'm going to prove that God created man.
- 13:34I thought you were going to prove that man evolved from a
- 13:37monkey. Dennis, I'm surprised at you.
- 13:40I thought you believed in the Bible.
- 13:42I do. Well then, let God be true, but
- 13:45every man a liar. Romans 3/4.
- 13:48Hey, that's my verse. It's in the Bible, Dennis, and
- 13:52the Bible's written to everyone, not just you.
- 13:55So it's not your verse, it's God's verse.
- 13:58So you did listen. Maybe I did, maybe I didn't.
- 14:02And if you try to tell people that I listen to you, they won't
- 14:06believe you because you're a boy, which is the same as a
- 14:09little man like God be true, but every man a liar.
- 14:13Romans 3-4 I'm leaving and don't follow me Goodbye.
- 14:18I told you it's for girls too, Margaret.
