- 0:02Speaker 1: Well, what a postseason, What a postseason?
- 0:04Speaker 2: Happy Friday, everyone. We know two teams. We still have
- 0:07Speaker 2: two teams to figure out for Championship Series spots. Bron
- 0:12Speaker 2: Kratz KP. We're gonna flip up a postseason bracket too,
- 0:17Speaker 2: and we're also going to remind everyone while we show
- 0:20Speaker 2: it to you that postgame shows are where it's at.
- 0:24Speaker 1: We're running many of them on our YouTube channel.
- 0:27Speaker 2: We did one after the Phillies and Dodgers last night,
- 0:29Speaker 2: Still super relevant, getting instant reactions from people like Eric
- 0:33Speaker 2: Kratz after that Phillies game, even just the first minute
- 0:37Speaker 2: is worth watching to go back to you after our show.
- 0:41Speaker 2: But we'll do another one on Sunday night for the Alcs.
- 0:45Speaker 2: That'll be the Blue Jays taking on I don't know
- 0:47Speaker 2: Tigers or the Mariners. So just want to let everyone
- 0:51Speaker 2: know there'll be a lot of that for the Championship
- 0:53Speaker 2: Series and then of course for the World Series. You'll
- 0:56Speaker 2: have a mix of us giving you instant reaction after games. Okay,
- 1:00Speaker 2: let us get KP's thoughts on that insane ending to
- 1:05Speaker 2: the NLDS.
- 1:06Speaker 1: So let's charge the mounds.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Charge about.
- 1:12Speaker 4: KP.
- 1:13Speaker 2: We did thirty five minutes on what happened between the
- 1:16Speaker 2: Phillies and the Dodgers. Your instant reaction when you saw
- 1:20Speaker 2: what happened to Oryan kirkering on the mound that led
- 1:23Speaker 2: to the Dodgers walking off the Phillies and moving on
- 1:26Speaker 2: to the NLCS.
- 1:28Speaker 5: My short answer is sadness. I feel for the player.
- 1:31Speaker 5: I mean, you just, especially in a place like Philly,
- 1:34Speaker 5: that can be a little bit tough on an individual player.
- 1:37Speaker 5: You hate to see two really good teams. You hate
- 1:42Speaker 5: to see that game in that way because they put
- 1:44Speaker 5: the right guy in the position to get the out.
- 1:46Speaker 5: You know, the game just sped up on him a
- 1:48Speaker 5: little bit. You know, he did everything he was supposed
- 1:50Speaker 5: to do. He bobbled the ball, he panted a little bit,
- 1:53Speaker 5: his internal clocks sped up a little bit. I mean,
- 1:55Speaker 5: the right place to go to first base, you know,
- 1:57Speaker 5: after rewatching it, he would have had to make a
- 2:00Speaker 5: good play to first base, but at least it would
- 2:02Speaker 5: have been the correct play.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Let's choose some more info here. First of all, and
- 2:10Speaker 2: this one's gonna go right back to KP. The Dodgers
- 2:13Speaker 2: are the second team in history in the postseason the
- 2:16Speaker 2: clinch a playoff series on a walk off error. There
- 2:19Speaker 2: was one other time period nine years ago today, Rubenettodor's
- 2:24Speaker 2: Aaron throw to first on an attempt to double play
- 2:27Speaker 2: allowed Josh Donaldon to score and the Toronto Blue Jays
- 2:30Speaker 2: swept the Texas Rangers in the alds op the stats
- 2:34Speaker 2: hooking us up with that one KP.
- 2:37Speaker 1: You were there what happened?
- 2:39Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 2:40Speaker 5: I was there for I mean obviously a much different situation.
- 2:44Speaker 5: I mean, first and foremost we were up to nothing,
- 2:47Speaker 5: so it didn't feel like an elimination game for us,
- 2:52Speaker 5: you know, like it was just a different we were
- 2:54Speaker 5: cruising in the series. But also the double play element
- 2:57Speaker 5: of it. You know, typically when you throw a ball
- 3:00Speaker 5: on a double play, it's not deemed an air. The
- 3:03Speaker 5: only difference is Josh Donaldson was at second base going
- 3:06Speaker 5: to third when he saw the mist throw. He ran home.
- 3:10Speaker 5: You know, I remember it like yesterday, the head first
- 3:12Speaker 5: slide coming out of the dugout, being super super excited
- 3:15Speaker 5: that we just went on and we were going to
- 3:17Speaker 5: our second straight ALCS.
- 3:22Speaker 2: One of our teammates says he has nightmares about that
- 3:25Speaker 2: exact scenario that played out for Kirkering in Game four.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Trevor May said that play is my nightmare, Kratz, you
- 3:35Speaker 2: got one sleep on it. Any aftermath thoughts here.
- 3:40Speaker 3: My nightmare is I have different color socks on and
- 3:42Speaker 3: I don't make it out to the game in time.
- 3:44Speaker 3: But that's a different nightmare. I have no other thoughts
- 3:47Speaker 3: on it. I even went back to the play that
- 3:49Speaker 3: I thought of that I made in the regular season
- 3:52Speaker 3: about or the play that I didn't make that cost
- 3:55Speaker 3: us a game, and like they're still residual. Maybe sometime
- 4:00Speaker 3: I'll tell the story, but there's still residual thoughts about it,
- 4:04Speaker 3: And so to have it be in this situation that
- 4:07Speaker 3: Oryan Kirkring had it in. It was a mistake. People
- 4:10Speaker 3: make mistakes every day. It will stay with him for
- 4:14Speaker 3: the rest of his life. My hope is that it
- 4:17Speaker 3: doesn't define him, and I think the people around him.
- 4:20Speaker 3: You already saw the sympathy support from his teammates, the
- 4:24Speaker 3: people that matter most to him, And now it's his
- 4:27Speaker 3: job to say it's not going to define me, because
- 4:30Speaker 3: if it defines him, he can go down a bad
- 4:33Speaker 3: rabbit hole.
- 4:35Speaker 5: Yeah, an old transparency. Playing in the playoffs, I was
- 4:38Speaker 5: always a little bit more concerned about this being the
- 4:42Speaker 5: end result of me being in the field is making
- 4:45Speaker 5: that mistake. I almost didn't want to make a mistake
- 4:48Speaker 5: more than I actually want to do something great, just
- 4:50Speaker 5: because you know, fans are so passionate and much like
- 4:54Speaker 5: Kratzy was saying, hopefully this isn't a moment in time
- 4:58Speaker 5: that defines him. It's something that you know, he has
- 5:02Speaker 5: an opportunity next year to be in a similar situation
- 5:06Speaker 5: and be on the other end of it and be
- 5:08Speaker 5: remembered for something great.
- 5:10Speaker 6: See.
- 5:10Speaker 3: I never thought of it as oh man, I'm gonna
- 5:12Speaker 3: make a mistake, and I'm glad that I wasn't like
- 5:15Speaker 3: smart like UKP, where you were like, okay, I'm thinking
- 5:17Speaker 3: through all the scenarios. I think my downfall in playoffs
- 5:22Speaker 3: was this is the moment I am going to do
- 5:25Speaker 3: something big oop, whoops, slider and a dirt or this
- 5:29Speaker 3: is huge, I'm gonna make this throat a secon Ooh.
- 5:31Speaker 3: I threw it into center field. Like I was always
- 5:34Speaker 3: thinking about the great play and I didn't play. I
- 5:37Speaker 3: was fortunate I didn't play with the fear of it
- 5:39Speaker 3: in mind. I just played with like maybe too much
- 5:43Speaker 3: reckless abandonment.
- 5:45Speaker 5: I think that's a great way to play, though, I
- 5:47Speaker 5: mean the moment gets big in the playoffs and the
- 5:50Speaker 5: people that are able to just kind of either slow
- 5:52Speaker 5: the game down or almost treat it like a regular
- 5:55Speaker 5: season game. I don't think there's a wrong answer. I
- 5:58Speaker 5: just I just as I was in the playoffs a
- 6:00Speaker 5: little bit longer, I didn't have that kind of thought.
- 6:03Speaker 5: But I remember my initial postseason experience. I would be
- 6:07Speaker 5: on center field and I still wanted the ball to
- 6:10Speaker 5: be hit to me, but there was just this extra
- 6:12Speaker 5: layer of focus, and I was like, don't be the
- 6:14Speaker 5: reason this team loses the game.
- 6:19Speaker 2: So one other component here. The Dodgers tied the game
- 6:23Speaker 2: thanks to or at least partially thanks to Alex Call
- 6:27Speaker 2: right he walked, and Kratz pointed out how it was
- 6:31Speaker 2: a missed call, and there are many. Every single game
- 6:33Speaker 2: has miss calls. This wouldn't seem unique to me. Kratz
- 6:37Speaker 2: in that the umpire actually apologized to Christopher Sanchez is
- 6:42Speaker 2: that normal? So here's the tweet from Lachland March. Christopher
- 6:47Speaker 2: Sanchez said the umpire apologized to him for missing the
- 6:49Speaker 2: two to two pitch to Alex Call in the seventh,
- 6:52Speaker 2: which should have been a strikeout became a walk, and
- 6:55Speaker 2: that runner went on to score the tying run.
- 6:59Speaker 6: Yes they do.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I mean you can see on the screen number five
- 7:02Speaker 3: is half in the box, half out of the box.
- 7:06Speaker 3: They do apologize. Umpires do apologize. JT was flummixed when
- 7:12Speaker 3: he didn't call it, like he went to like throw
- 7:15Speaker 3: it around. Oh and then he like turned around, which
- 7:19Speaker 3: is kind of a no no. But for the umpire
- 7:22Speaker 3: to say that to me, that gives players it just it.
- 7:27Speaker 3: It calms the players down because they're like, Okay, I
- 7:30Speaker 3: get it, you missed it. Maybe today it infuriates them
- 7:32Speaker 3: a little bit more. But in the moment, look, man, like,
- 7:35Speaker 3: we're humans. We're not watching we're not watching a video game.
- 7:38Speaker 3: We're not watching robots. And when it's humans and you
- 7:42Speaker 3: have the human element in there, I'm not saying I'm
- 7:45Speaker 3: against ABS challenge system because I'm all for it. The
- 7:48Speaker 3: human element adds some intrigue to it and adds that
- 7:52Speaker 3: like level of angst or excitement depending on which side
- 7:56Speaker 3: of the call you're.
- 7:57Speaker 1: On, presented by Fox one.
- 8:02Speaker 2: And we're getting ready to talk about the Phillies coming
- 8:04Speaker 2: up in a moment. But on the American League side,
- 8:07Speaker 2: you've been watching these games.
- 8:09Speaker 1: On Fox one.
- 8:10Speaker 2: If you're in the US, and you have the opportunity
- 8:13Speaker 2: to keep doing that by getting yourself a little seven
- 8:15Speaker 2: day free trial at foxwe dot com. So the QR
- 8:18Speaker 2: code is on the screen if you want to check
- 8:20Speaker 2: that out and get yourself the free seven day trial
- 8:22Speaker 2: so you can see what it has to offer. It's
- 8:24Speaker 2: not just the playoffs, it's also football, college football, pregame shows, sitcoms,
- 8:31Speaker 2: the whole deal.
- 8:32Speaker 1: So check it out. There's something for everyone.
- 8:34Speaker 2: It's brand new and they've been sponsoring us here during
- 8:37Speaker 2: the postseason. Also, specifically, AJ's game tonight can be accessed
- 8:43Speaker 2: via Fox One. AJ will be on the call with
- 8:45Speaker 2: Adam Waynwright and Adam Amean and you've got the Mariners
- 8:48Speaker 2: matching up with the Tigers Brady on Sundays, among many
- 8:52Speaker 2: other things.
- 8:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I was going to say, they're human beings, and
- 8:56Speaker 5: I think that's where the ABS we should be in
- 9:00Speaker 5: favor of it because these umpires do care. I think
- 9:03Speaker 5: the human element of it is what makes the game great.
- 9:05Speaker 5: But at the end of the day, if you ask
- 9:07Speaker 5: that umpire, if they had the ability to challenge and
- 9:10Speaker 5: he got the call wrong and they reversed it, he
- 9:13Speaker 5: would be sleeping a little bit better at night. Ultimately,
- 9:15Speaker 5: these guys want to get the call right. And my
- 9:18Speaker 5: other point was on my way to Toronto to cover
- 9:20Speaker 5: the series, I was sitting next to an umpire that
- 9:24Speaker 5: I won't mention his name, but he was there with
- 9:26Speaker 5: his wife, and it just humanizes it, like his wife
- 9:29Speaker 5: is going there to watch them, and I'm just just
- 9:31Speaker 5: trying to think being in a white's position of an umpire,
- 9:34Speaker 5: you got to kind of be neutral. You don't really
- 9:36Speaker 5: root for your husband who's on the field, but they
- 9:38Speaker 5: are human beings with families and kids and wives. And
- 9:43Speaker 5: good on him for apologizing. I know it doesn't really
- 9:45Speaker 5: change anything, you know, long term, and really doesn't really
- 9:49Speaker 5: change any short term, but it does show that they
- 9:51Speaker 5: are human being and they do care.
- 9:55Speaker 6: KP.
- 9:55Speaker 2: How dangerous are the Los Angeles Dodgers. They have a
- 9:58Speaker 2: bona fide one through four starting pitching slate that they
- 10:03Speaker 2: can throw out their series by series. The question mark
- 10:07Speaker 2: can be the bullpen depth, but they also now suddenly
- 10:10Speaker 2: have perhaps the best closer in baseball who went three
- 10:13Speaker 2: perfect innings in that matchup.
- 10:16Speaker 5: Yeah, when you asked me that I didn't want to
- 10:18Speaker 5: stay the obvious because we going into spring training, going
- 10:21Speaker 5: into the season, if they were able to stay healthy.
- 10:25Speaker 5: This is what you were going to expect from the
- 10:27Speaker 5: Dodgers from a starting pitching standpoint. And obviously they went
- 10:30Speaker 5: out and signed a bunch of different guys in the
- 10:31Speaker 5: back end of the bullpen that they thought were going
- 10:34Speaker 5: to be dudes. But they have a real dude right
- 10:37Speaker 5: now who was having trouble getting outs in triple A
- 10:41Speaker 5: a month ago. But somehow the Dodgers do it again.
- 10:43Speaker 5: They figure out this guy can't start, We're just gonna
- 10:47Speaker 5: put him in the bullpen. Oh, by the way, we're
- 10:49Speaker 5: going to allow him to start closing playoff games, and
- 10:51Speaker 5: not only close games. He might even pitch three innings.
- 10:54Speaker 5: And when he's in there, he just wants to get
- 10:56Speaker 5: right back on the mound.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Krats favorite.
- 11:04Speaker 6: Oh my gosh.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Yeah, they're they got through the toughest opponent in my opinion,
- 11:11Speaker 3: from what I saw during the regular season. They're gonna
- 11:14Speaker 3: have to find a way to beat the Brewers or
- 11:17Speaker 3: the Cubs differently than they then they had to find
- 11:21Speaker 3: a way to beat the Phillies. Philly starting pitching, they're
- 11:23Speaker 3: not going to run up against anything like they saw
- 11:27Speaker 3: day in and day out with the Philly starting pitching.
- 11:29Speaker 3: I mean, they were Philly starting pitching is the all
- 11:32Speaker 3: star of the series for the for the Phillies. But
- 11:36Speaker 3: they're gonna have to be able to beat the Brewers
- 11:38Speaker 3: a different way than they are the Cubs. And you know,
- 11:41Speaker 3: I think the National League wins it. I think that's
- 11:43Speaker 3: a I think that's a slam dunk. But you know what,
- 11:47Speaker 3: this team is firing on all cylinders and playing playing
- 11:51Speaker 3: their best in October what they were.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Built for actually kp.
- 11:56Speaker 2: You know the scariest part for opponents, what three hitter
- 12:02Speaker 2: maybe five on the planet had a brutal series. That's bad.
- 12:08Speaker 2: That's really bad. Law of averages. It doesn't look like
- 12:11Speaker 2: anything's particularly wrong. And show heo Tani is not going
- 12:15Speaker 2: to go one for eighteen with nine strikeouts in another
- 12:19Speaker 2: postseason for the rest of his life.
- 12:22Speaker 5: No, I mean, that's just the depth of the Dodgers.
- 12:25Speaker 5: You know, you can go pretty much without show hey.
- 12:28Speaker 5: I mean, he he In some ways he should have
- 12:30Speaker 5: just pitched. I mean, that's how bad he was to
- 12:32Speaker 5: be quite franked. But they're built for this, you know,
- 12:36Speaker 5: even even to the point where Max Munsey, who is
- 12:39Speaker 5: so is such a great player and has so many
- 12:42Speaker 5: great postseason moment moments. Is sitting on the bench to
- 12:45Speaker 5: allow Keik Hernandez, who also is turns into show heo
- 12:50Speaker 5: Tani in the postseason, Show Hey, who's in the regular
- 12:53Speaker 5: season in the postseason. It's like the Dodgers are just
- 12:56Speaker 5: built for this, Like it almost feels like the regular
- 12:58Speaker 5: season games are just this extended kind of warm up period.
- 13:02Speaker 5: Let's just go through the motions, Let's check all the boxes,
- 13:06Speaker 5: Let's make sure the body's feeling well, Let's get some
- 13:09Speaker 5: of the injuries out of the way, and then when
- 13:10Speaker 5: October rolls around, they're at their best.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Let's not be too recncy biased, though, we were talking
- 13:17Speaker 3: at this time last year, like can the Dodgers get
- 13:20Speaker 3: over the hump? Because this time last year, everyone's like
- 13:23Speaker 3: there's a faction of people who were like, twenty twenty
- 13:26Speaker 3: season didn't count. I played and it definitely counted, and
- 13:30Speaker 3: so they're like, can they get through an entire postseason
- 13:34Speaker 3: after an entire actual.
- 13:35Speaker 6: One sixty two?
- 13:36Speaker 3: So there was questions and they they almost were eliminated
- 13:41Speaker 3: by the Padres, so we're still questioning that, and now
- 13:44Speaker 3: they've won it, and now they're the way they're looking
- 13:47Speaker 3: this postseason. Yeah, you're like, whoah, these boys, these boys
- 13:51Speaker 3: are a juggernaut right now, and it's gonna be tough
- 13:54Speaker 3: to slow them down.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Now the ultimate test is can a team repeat because
- 13:59Speaker 2: we haven't seen it in the modern game, it's been
- 14:01Speaker 2: a quarter century. It's really difficult to do. They do
- 14:05Speaker 2: have a very different looking pitching staff from last year,
- 14:07Speaker 2: which I think does become a big part of things.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Not the only thing, but it does become a big
- 14:12Speaker 2: part of things. And many of the pitchers that are
- 14:14Speaker 2: they're thrown out there now didn't pitch last year in
- 14:16Speaker 2: the playoffs for them. Otani Glass now, Roki, et cetera. Okay,
- 14:21Speaker 2: here we are and we do have some Are we
- 14:24Speaker 2: able to run the sound here from Ryan Kirkrea? Yes, okay, cool,
- 14:28Speaker 2: let's run that right now and then we can react
- 14:30Speaker 2: for a minute.
- 14:32Speaker 7: Shit off my foot just kind of once that the
- 14:35Speaker 7: pressure got to me. I just thought it was a
- 14:37Speaker 7: faster throw the JT little quicker throw than trying to
- 14:40Speaker 7: cross body at the price.
- 14:41Speaker 6: So just more shit throw.
- 14:44Speaker 7: The wall with the test ball, for sure, but yeah,
- 14:48Speaker 7: just kind of.
- 14:49Speaker 6: Keep going with it.
- 14:51Speaker 7: Hopefully it started a long career. Just keep back of
- 14:53Speaker 7: my head and this really fucking socks right now, but
- 14:56Speaker 7: hopefully keep pushing. When get over this, keep push.
- 15:02Speaker 6: That's it. I can't, I can't.
- 15:05Speaker 3: I can't be more proud of him for standing up
- 15:09Speaker 3: in that moment and talking to the media. The language
- 15:14Speaker 3: was just his honesty pouring out through it, and I
- 15:18Speaker 3: just can't. Yeah, I can't stand up enough for him
- 15:23Speaker 3: in a plaud like what he said was just what
- 15:27Speaker 3: he felt, and I'm proud of him for that.
- 15:31Speaker 5: Well, I get goosebumps thinking about it, because when you're
- 15:37Speaker 5: at the top, when you make it to the major
- 15:39Speaker 5: leagues and everything is going well, it's the best thing
- 15:42Speaker 5: in the world. But there is a flip side of that,
- 15:44Speaker 5: you know, especially in the playoffs, the entire world was watching.
- 15:48Speaker 5: It was the only game on so to be able
- 15:50Speaker 5: to get in front of the media, stand there like
- 15:55Speaker 5: a professional, answer the tough questions that you don't really
- 15:59Speaker 5: want to have to answer, and then honest and then
- 16:02Speaker 5: the last part is just to be honest and real
- 16:05Speaker 5: and like Kratty said, you know the language he used
- 16:08Speaker 5: and how he said it and the emotion and hold
- 16:10Speaker 5: back the tears is you know, only going to allow
- 16:13Speaker 5: him to have more fans in this world. I know
- 16:17Speaker 5: it sucks right now, but it's much appreciated from someone who's,
- 16:21Speaker 5: you know, been at the top of the mountaintop, who's
- 16:22Speaker 5: played in the major leagues and has had some bad
- 16:26Speaker 5: moments and had to stand in front of the camera
- 16:28Speaker 5: and be honest and kind of be vulnerable. And I
- 16:31Speaker 5: think that's what people don't understand is baseball players and
- 16:34Speaker 5: athletes are still human beings and they're vulnerable. And he
- 16:39Speaker 5: did a great job with it.
- 16:41Speaker 2: And when you hear someone be accountable and answer questions
- 16:45Speaker 2: like that and be real, I think that you got
- 16:49Speaker 2: a deeper connection with a fan based right yep.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Humanization factor.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Better than box scores is powered by Arena club. Best
- 17:07Speaker 2: card marketplace out there by far Crats.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Game five. Here we go, baby. Maybe home field.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Advantage is a thing in some scenarios. Brewers take the
- 17:18Speaker 2: first two, Cubs take the next two.
- 17:20Speaker 1: What's next?
- 17:22Speaker 3: What's next? Game five? That's what's next.
- 17:26Speaker 4: You're making me choose.
- 17:27Speaker 3: You're making me choose already the one.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I'm not making you choose who wins. I'm just saying, like,
- 17:32Speaker 2: what are we expecting in this game? Are the Cubs
- 17:34Speaker 2: going to show up with some pop? Are they going
- 17:37Speaker 2: to keep blitzing the Brewers early on? Tell me what
- 17:40Speaker 2: are you expecting here? How are the Brewers going to
- 17:42Speaker 2: map and craft the perfect you know, bullpen strategy here.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Because it's going to be all bullpen. It's going to
- 17:49Speaker 3: be all bullpen strategy. Is the miz going to show up?
- 17:52Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 17:52Speaker 3: I'm not fully confident in the mis yet, but kind
- 17:55Speaker 3: of like Rokie we saw in the other series, like
- 17:57Speaker 3: when you have a lead, stuff, you have a chance
- 17:59Speaker 3: to be elite. So do they need to give miss
- 18:02Speaker 3: a lead before they bring him in because maybe they're
- 18:05Speaker 3: a little not confident in it. To me, yeah, the
- 18:09Speaker 3: Cubs are gonna come out swinging in the first inning.
- 18:12Speaker 3: They've scored a billion runs in the first inning. And
- 18:16Speaker 3: to me, if the Brewers want to win this one,
- 18:19Speaker 3: I think it comes down to them playing their game,
- 18:22Speaker 3: which is defense, bullpen, and the thing that has been missing, missing, missing,
- 18:28Speaker 3: missing this whole series their base running. I need to
- 18:32Speaker 3: see them steal some bases. I think we If you
- 18:35Speaker 3: go back to when the Diamondbacks made their run in
- 18:39Speaker 3: twenty three, they had a team that was fast and
- 18:42Speaker 3: it was like, man, the Phillies just were keeping them down,
- 18:45Speaker 3: keeping them down. All of a sudden. In Game four
- 18:47Speaker 3: they started running, they didn't win. Or in game five
- 18:49Speaker 3: they started running, didn't win. Game six, they started running
- 18:53Speaker 3: again seven, putting pressure on them. To me, I see
- 18:56Speaker 3: the Brewers getting stuff going. Say, you have to steal
- 19:00Speaker 3: all the bases, but you have to put pressure on
- 19:03Speaker 3: a really good Cubs defense that doesn't give you extra outs,
- 19:06Speaker 3: so you're getting extra ninety feet with your legs, which
- 19:10Speaker 3: the Brewers did really well all season.
- 19:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I think about how these short seasons are, these
- 19:16Speaker 5: short series work. We talk about home field advantage just
- 19:20Speaker 5: I think home field advantage for those first two games
- 19:22Speaker 5: is real. But when you go down two and you
- 19:25Speaker 5: go home, yeah, you want to play great in front
- 19:28Speaker 5: of your fans, but kind of everyone is counting you out.
- 19:31Speaker 5: Then you win that first game, and then there's a
- 19:33Speaker 5: little bit of pressure on the Brewers like, oh, we
- 19:35Speaker 5: don't want this to get back home because then home
- 19:37Speaker 5: field advantage is a thing. So the Cubs are able
- 19:40Speaker 5: to win the second game, and I think all the
- 19:43Speaker 5: pressure is back on the Brewers now because you're up
- 19:46Speaker 5: O two. You had a chance to go into Chicago
- 19:48Speaker 5: and sweep them. You lose that first game, you start
- 19:52Speaker 5: to feel that little bit of pressure like, oh no,
- 19:54Speaker 5: if we don't win this game, it's coming back home,
- 19:56Speaker 5: and then the real pressure amounts. So I think the
- 19:59Speaker 5: Cubs have a lot of momentum go into this. I
- 20:01Speaker 5: don't think homefield is going to play in this scenario.
- 20:05Speaker 5: I think the Brewers had to win it on the
- 20:06Speaker 5: road in order to win this series. I think the
- 20:10Speaker 5: Cubs find a way.
- 20:11Speaker 4: To do it.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Wow, Okay, Yeah, that Game three was tight.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Brewers had a ton of chances and they did not
- 20:18Speaker 2: come through right. They had bases loaded. Keller came through
- 20:22Speaker 2: in the eighth inning when they brought him in. That
- 20:23Speaker 2: was a perfect button pressed by Craig Counsel in that moment.
- 20:27Speaker 2: But that's a four to three game game four. Kp
- 20:30Speaker 2: was not close, right. They blitz him early, as they've
- 20:33Speaker 2: been doing. It was ean half this time with a
- 20:35Speaker 2: three run shot off of fastball over the plate, and
- 20:38Speaker 2: he'd been cold, so maybe he's woken up. Aside from that,
- 20:43Speaker 2: there were threats from the Brewers, but.
- 20:47Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Man, it never felt close.
- 20:49Speaker 2: When you watch that one from front to back and
- 20:51Speaker 2: then of course, the Cubs added insurance runs, you know,
- 20:54Speaker 2: one per inning in the late stages.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I'm speaking from a little bit of
- 20:59Speaker 5: experience as someone who is down two in a series.
- 21:04Speaker 5: Slightly different because we lost those first two games at home,
- 21:07Speaker 5: but that was kind of always the mindset was you better.
- 21:11Speaker 5: The only way we're losing this series is you had
- 21:14Speaker 5: to beat us in game three, because if we went
- 21:16Speaker 5: in and didn't get swept, we could feel kind of
- 21:19Speaker 5: that momentum, that pressure starting to turn to the team
- 21:23Speaker 5: that was up to oh. Because everyone says you're up
- 21:26Speaker 5: to oh, you're supposed to win. But when you don't
- 21:28Speaker 5: win that third game, that fourth game feels oh, very
- 21:32Speaker 5: very very critical. And the Cubs went out and won,
- 21:34Speaker 5: very deciding. Now you go back on this flight, and
- 21:37Speaker 5: you know what you're up against not only a Game five,
- 21:39Speaker 5: but you're also staring down the fact that you might be,
- 21:43Speaker 5: you know, a team that loses. Teams that are up
- 21:45Speaker 5: to oh win like almost ninety percent of the time.
- 21:47Speaker 5: So that kind of little voice and that little pressure
- 21:50Speaker 5: kind of adds up a little bit too.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Yeah, fifty to fifty if they win. To me, the Cubs,
- 21:57Speaker 3: the Cubs big sticking point here who had a good
- 22:00Speaker 3: game last night? Two of their big guys, Tucker, what
- 22:05Speaker 3: was he two for I was just looking it up.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Two for three, two walks, a steak, a dinger, Like
- 22:15Speaker 3: that's scary if you're the Brewers, because how did the
- 22:17Speaker 3: Brewers get knocked out last year by a dinger to
- 22:21Speaker 3: end the game or in the end of the game
- 22:24Speaker 3: by Pete Alonzo at home. Brewers fans need to come
- 22:28Speaker 3: to the park with a positive attitude because that negativity
- 22:32Speaker 3: of oh are we going to get are we going
- 22:34Speaker 3: to get bounced again? In back to back to back years?
- 22:38Speaker 3: Like is this how it's going to go down? Like,
- 22:41Speaker 3: Oh no, what's going to happen next? And I think
- 22:43Speaker 3: if they can get rolling, they'll take the momentum and
- 22:48Speaker 3: they'll push it through the end of the game. If
- 22:50Speaker 3: it's a close game throughout, I think the Cubs ultimately prevail.
- 22:55Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:55Speaker 5: And the greatest thing you could do as a road team,
- 22:58Speaker 5: in which I experienced being in Yankee Stadium during the
- 23:03Speaker 5: Toronto series, is you can go in with a plan
- 23:06Speaker 5: as a fan base. But baseball is a very reactionary sport.
- 23:09Speaker 5: You can only be excited about things that kind of
- 23:12Speaker 5: happen on the field. You can motivate your team, but
- 23:14Speaker 5: you're also very reactionary. And what the Blue Jays did
- 23:17Speaker 5: a great job in Yankee Stadium. They scored first, they
- 23:20Speaker 5: shut up the crowd, and then it took the Yankee
- 23:23Speaker 5: some things to get back into the game, to get
- 23:25Speaker 5: the crowd back into the game. What the Cubs have
- 23:27Speaker 5: done really good in this series is scoring early. So
- 23:31Speaker 5: if you're a Brewers fan and you want to create
- 23:34Speaker 5: this home field environment, even if the Cubs score early,
- 23:38Speaker 5: you have to find a way to just continue to
- 23:41Speaker 5: be loud and motivate your team and not be very
- 23:44Speaker 5: reactionary and not allow things that happened in the past
- 23:48Speaker 5: to kind of dictate what's happening right now during this series.
- 23:53Speaker 2: And we've seen this from the Burs all season long.
- 23:56Speaker 2: I mean, falling behind early on in games and then unfhazed.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Not even late catchups, it's often early catchups. I mean,
- 24:03Speaker 2: I've seen plenty of Brewers games where this happens, and
- 24:05Speaker 2: we saw them in both games that they played at home,
- 24:08Speaker 2: falling behind early, and especially in Game two. Right Game
- 24:11Speaker 2: two was the Suzuki home run from sea and then
- 24:15Speaker 2: five seconds later. I mean, we're tied, so they are
- 24:17Speaker 2: certainly capable of doing this, but can they outslug the
- 24:21Speaker 2: Cubs in a winner take all game, and do they
- 24:23Speaker 2: have the pitching plan in place. I'll tell you one thing, guys,
- 24:26Speaker 2: I am certainly concerned if I'm a Brewers fan, regardless
- 24:29Speaker 2: of what happens in this game five, because I'm looking
- 24:32Speaker 2: at a Dodger team that's got the traditional starting pitching setup.
- 24:36Speaker 2: They've got it all, they've got the experience, they're clicking
- 24:38Speaker 2: at the right moment. And for Milwaukee, it's still difficult
- 24:43Speaker 2: for me KP to look at this team and how
- 24:45Speaker 2: successful they've been in regular seasons but not able to
- 24:48Speaker 2: get over the hump in the postseason and wonder, just
- 24:51Speaker 2: like we talked a little bit about with the Phillies,
- 24:53Speaker 2: if they don't have the right potion to go the distance.
- 24:56Speaker 2: I do think you need to build a regular season
- 24:58Speaker 2: winner and have other things in mind for the postseason.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Of course, traditional starter horses can help carry you. Brandon
- 25:04Speaker 2: woodriff loss was huge for them. Imagine if you had
- 25:07Speaker 2: the wood if that we were seeing when he came back,
- 25:10Speaker 2: that would be a huge difference maker. Because that was
- 25:12Speaker 2: eventually taps your pen, and their pen didn't have a
- 25:14Speaker 2: good game just now against the Cubs.
- 25:17Speaker 5: That was the exact name that came to mind. Is
- 25:19Speaker 5: when you're talking about having the right pieces, the right potion.
- 25:22Speaker 5: I think they were counting on him pitching in the
- 25:25Speaker 5: postseason this year. Obviously he has some injury history. He
- 25:28Speaker 5: got injured this year. But you can get away with
- 25:31Speaker 5: these kind of bullpen kind of scramble mode kind of
- 25:35Speaker 5: games in a five game series, but you will get
- 25:38Speaker 5: exposed in a seven game series. And that was always
- 25:41Speaker 5: the question with like a Dodger team, if they can
- 25:44Speaker 5: get to the seven game series, that's what they're really
- 25:46Speaker 5: built for because they do have your traditional four starters.
- 25:50Speaker 5: You know, they even have a fifth starter and Kershoff
- 25:52Speaker 5: you really wanted to use them who's now in the bullpen.
- 25:54Speaker 5: But it's gonna be tough. It's gonna be tough if
- 25:58Speaker 5: either of these teams move on, because I don't think
- 26:00Speaker 5: the Cubs really have that kind of starting pitching depth
- 26:03Speaker 5: two that you know, maybe like a Dodger team has,
- 26:05Speaker 5: where you're rolling out four guys that you're very comfortable
- 26:08Speaker 5: with every time they take the ball.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Kratz, do you feel this at all, what are you
- 26:14Speaker 2: seeing postseason version of Milwaukee. I know it's only been
- 26:18Speaker 2: four games, but you made a face when I said, Hey,
- 26:22Speaker 2: if you get through this game five, you're running into
- 26:24Speaker 2: the Dodgers.
- 26:25Speaker 3: I think they're built to give the Dodgers a tougher
- 26:29Speaker 3: time than the Cubs. I think the Cubs can be
- 26:33Speaker 3: pitched too, and you know, I think they're And look,
- 26:37Speaker 3: people are gonna say I'm a homer. I'm not a
- 26:40Speaker 3: homer for the team of the Brewers. I'm a homer
- 26:42Speaker 3: for the fans of the Brewers. I almost want this
- 26:45Speaker 3: more for the fans that I do, individual friends that
- 26:48Speaker 3: I have on a team, or coaches who are on
- 26:52Speaker 3: the team that I really like. To me, it's about
- 26:54Speaker 3: like this, this fan base getting the ultimate prize. And
- 27:01Speaker 3: in the way is the Cubs right now. In the
- 27:03Speaker 3: way is the fact that they don't have a starting pitcher.
- 27:06Speaker 3: But over these years, look at what the Brewers have
- 27:09Speaker 3: had in starting pitching. They have had Corbin Burns mega
- 27:13Speaker 3: free agent. Big Wu was going to be a mega
- 27:16Speaker 3: free agent before the before the shoulder derailed him and
- 27:19Speaker 3: he missed almost two seasons. Freddy Peralta is a bona
- 27:23Speaker 3: fide Ace. Now he's taken that next step and you
- 27:28Speaker 3: continually add guys in.
- 27:31Speaker 6: So to me, I think they were built. They were
- 27:33Speaker 6: built for.
- 27:34Speaker 3: The postseason, but there's so many they don't have enough
- 27:37Speaker 3: depth overall. And that's where I think it's tough. When
- 27:41Speaker 3: you don't have the money, you can't go out and
- 27:43Speaker 3: keep one of these guys. So they have to do
- 27:45Speaker 3: things differently. And now they're backs up against the wall.
- 27:48Speaker 3: They have to go and push all in whatever they
- 27:52Speaker 3: feel like. Their style is go push all in and
- 27:56Speaker 3: leave it out, leave it all out on the field,
- 27:58Speaker 3: run but hit whatever it is. Your superstars need to
- 28:03Speaker 3: step up. Each starting pitch or each pitcher needs to
- 28:06Speaker 3: be ready for tonight and they need to leave it
- 28:08Speaker 3: out on the field or the Cubs will take them
- 28:11Speaker 3: down in this game.
- 28:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I got the same. I think the
- 28:17Speaker 5: Blue Jays team is unbelievable. But that's really my concern
- 28:21Speaker 5: with them going into that longer series is who's going
- 28:24Speaker 5: to pitch the fourth game and if the Seattle's able
- 28:27Speaker 5: to get there. I think that's what Seattle's really built for,
- 28:30Speaker 5: is playing these long playoff series, assuming like someone like
- 28:33Speaker 5: Brian Wu comes back. But it's hard. It's hard to,
- 28:37Speaker 5: you know, really have four starting pitchers that you rely on,
- 28:40Speaker 5: and sometimes it's really even hard to have three starting
- 28:42Speaker 5: pitchers you can rely on. That's what makes the Dodgers
- 28:45Speaker 5: just kind of this unique scenario where they just know
- 28:50Speaker 5: that throughout a season you're going to go through a
- 28:52Speaker 5: lot of starting pitching depth. But ultimately, when it comes
- 28:55Speaker 5: down to these long series that you're trying to win,
- 28:58Speaker 5: we need four guys.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and during a season you need like fifteen, and
- 29:03Speaker 2: then you hope that you've got five or six towards
- 29:06Speaker 2: the end of the year. Then you can pick from
- 29:07Speaker 2: that five or six to go with four that you
- 29:11Speaker 2: think you can.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Get through October with.
- 29:13Speaker 2: And then if it's a tough decision, great and Michian
- 29:16Speaker 2: pitches out of the bullpen for the Dodgers. Roki Sazaki
- 29:19Speaker 2: is now a bullpen and extraordinary, And we get it.
- 29:21Speaker 1: They've got the resources.
- 29:22Speaker 2: But we mentioned this in the postgame show last night
- 29:25Speaker 2: when the Dodgers took down the Phillies. They're not the
- 29:27Speaker 2: only rich team in baseball, and they actually made plenty
- 29:30Speaker 2: of mistakes, right Like they signed up Tanner Scott and
- 29:34Speaker 2: Kirby Yates. They're not a relevant factor for this team
- 29:37Speaker 2: in October now. So it's not like it was perfection.
- 29:40Speaker 2: The Mets spent close to as much money as them
- 29:43Speaker 2: and they haven't figured out even making the playoffs this year.
- 29:46Speaker 2: But anyway, we're excited. Game five is going to be awesome.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Can't wait to see it. My last shout out here
- 29:51Speaker 2: from Game four is Matt Boyd completely turning it around
- 29:55Speaker 2: and showing why he needs a regular rest like any
- 29:58Speaker 2: other starter in baseball. I'm sorry like that. His stuff
- 30:02Speaker 2: was so much better, so much more crisp, command of
- 30:06Speaker 2: the curve, crats like it to look just like at
- 30:09Speaker 2: his secondary stuff alone, and the difference that you saw
- 30:11Speaker 2: in the first game versus what you saw in Game four,
- 30:15Speaker 2: I was like, Okay, yeah, modern starter needs regular rest,
- 30:18Speaker 2: especially a guy who's been through it, pitched a really
- 30:21Speaker 2: long year, had some issues down the stretch of this season.
- 30:25Speaker 1: It was a no brainer to see the difference. And
- 30:27Speaker 1: they won't do that again.
- 30:29Speaker 3: These are the kind of decisions that I would be
- 30:32Speaker 3: more leaning towards, like somebody else getting in trouble for.
- 30:35Speaker 3: And I'm not saying it's a council thing. I'm saying
- 30:39Speaker 3: for the team to come to him and say, hey,
- 30:41Speaker 3: will you start. Maybe wasn't reading the room and if
- 30:44Speaker 3: the Cubs lose, If the Cubs lose this series, somebody
- 30:48Speaker 3: wasn't reading the room. Having Matthew Boyd all the things
- 30:51Speaker 3: you just said, a little bit of injury history has
- 30:54Speaker 3: kind of bounced around, was struggling a little bit at
- 30:56Speaker 3: the end of the year, and you can't go to
- 30:58Speaker 3: him and say, can you get us game one short rest? Like, yeah, KP,
- 31:05Speaker 3: I'm sure you would agree with me. Your leg's hanging off.
- 31:08Speaker 3: You're like, am I faster than this person you're gonna
- 31:10Speaker 3: put out there? I'm playing. But there's a point where
- 31:13Speaker 3: the team has to say, no, we're not gonna throw
- 31:16Speaker 3: your own short rest. Sorry, we just can't do that.
- 31:19Speaker 3: And it proved it last night.
- 31:22Speaker 5: It's not always the rest component too. It's as a
- 31:26Speaker 5: starting pitcher, you get off the mound twice, you throw,
- 31:28Speaker 5: and then you got your bullpen. But to be sharp,
- 31:31Speaker 5: you need to be able to kind of have that
- 31:33Speaker 5: bullpen day, you know, unless maybe going into it, you
- 31:36Speaker 5: know you're gonna pitch on short rest and maybe you
- 31:38Speaker 5: can get off the mound a little bit and really
- 31:41Speaker 5: work on your craft. But you know, it's much like
- 31:44Speaker 5: pinch hitting, Like it's really hard to go out there
- 31:48Speaker 5: and be in a rhythm all the time. That's why
- 31:51Speaker 5: playing every day is a little bit easier than coming
- 31:53Speaker 5: off the bench. So when you're only able to get
- 31:55Speaker 5: off the mound and then get off the mound again,
- 31:57Speaker 5: and you have no ability to kind of work on
- 32:00Speaker 5: your mechanics, your feel for your pitches, I think that's
- 32:03Speaker 5: an equally as big factor of why guys typically struggle
- 32:06Speaker 5: on short rest is because they just don't have the
- 32:09Speaker 5: feel for their stuff.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Yeah, perfectly stated.
- 32:13Speaker 2: We're excited for this one game five n LDS Brewers Cubs.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Winner takes on the Dodgers.
- 32:20Speaker 2: All right, we're gonna swing back and first off, Arena
- 32:23Speaker 2: club dot Com slash Foul is the spot. All year long,
- 32:27Speaker 2: we've been talking about how you can get yourself slab
- 32:29Speaker 2: packs to pick out that one big card or card purchases,
- 32:32Speaker 2: and we showed you a number of cards while we
- 32:33Speaker 2: were chatting just now about players like.
- 32:38Speaker 1: The miss Kyle Tucker.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Right, if you're looking for cards like that and they're graded,
- 32:43Speaker 2: you can make an offer. It's all on one spot
- 32:45Speaker 2: on Arena Club. It goes in your showroom. You want
- 32:47Speaker 2: the card, you tell them and they send it to you. Otherwise,
- 32:49Speaker 2: if you want to flip it, it makes it so
- 32:51Speaker 2: much easier to do so. Arenaclub dot com slash fil
- 32:53Speaker 2: twenty percent off your first card purchase or slap pack. Hey,
- 32:57Speaker 2: we had an epic battle just now, two shows starting
- 32:59Speaker 2: at the same time. Rare on the FT network, but
- 33:02Speaker 2: Ken Rosen thoughts some flight delay, so he popped on
- 33:04Speaker 2: at one o'clock Eastern and got his fair territory show
- 33:08Speaker 2: for the week done. In the books coming back from
- 33:11Speaker 2: the Yankees Blue Jays series, so lots of thoughts from
- 33:14Speaker 2: Ken on that series, and specifically he addressed what went
- 33:18Speaker 2: wrong with the Yankees and if Aaron Boone and or
- 33:22Speaker 2: Brian Cashman should be concerned about their job security. And
- 33:28Speaker 2: most Yankee fans are gonna laugh at this point. There's
- 33:30Speaker 2: been a lot of continuity there for a while, but
- 33:32Speaker 2: it's at least a discussion worth listening to with Ken
- 33:35Speaker 2: kp your thoughts. I mean, the Yankees, for their standards,
- 33:40Speaker 2: have not gone the distance in a long time for
- 33:42Speaker 2: their standards, right, It's a team that's had a ton
- 33:45Speaker 2: of success.
- 33:45Speaker 1: They have resources, they've.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Had the same GM forever and now they've had the
- 33:49Speaker 2: same manager for a long period of time. Some of
- 33:52Speaker 2: the guys are going to move on, but I'm talking
- 33:54Speaker 2: about player personnel. But they've still got most guys under
- 33:56Speaker 2: contract for a while.
- 33:58Speaker 1: So what do you do?
- 34:01Speaker 5: I mean, I honestly, I listened to what you know,
- 34:03Speaker 5: Jeter and a Rod had to say after the game,
- 34:05Speaker 5: and I don't think it's Aaron Boone problem. I think
- 34:07Speaker 5: it's a roster configuration problem. You know, obviously someone had
- 34:12Speaker 5: the entire team. Can't take the blame. You can't. The
- 34:15Speaker 5: old saying is you can't fire the whole team, right,
- 34:16Speaker 5: so someone has to, you know, be fired, you take
- 34:20Speaker 5: the blame for what they're doing. And in this case,
- 34:22Speaker 5: I don't think it's Aaron Boone. I think it's the
- 34:25Speaker 5: roster that he was given was a little bit flawed.
- 34:27Speaker 5: You know, you have two left handed catchers, you have
- 34:30Speaker 5: multiple dhs, you don't have a lot of versatility to
- 34:33Speaker 5: be able to kind of mix and match. You don't
- 34:35Speaker 5: have a lot of contact. You have a lot of
- 34:37Speaker 5: power and not a lot of contact, not a lot
- 34:39Speaker 5: of speed. So I think it's more about the way
- 34:42Speaker 5: the roster was constructed and granted, you know, if you
- 34:44Speaker 5: have Garrett Cole pitching in two of these games, it's
- 34:47Speaker 5: probably a different story. But teams that are able to
- 34:51Speaker 5: overcome injuries of their superstars and being able to have
- 34:55Speaker 5: depth and piece it together and draft and develop and
- 34:57Speaker 5: have these guys kind of you know, waiting in the
- 34:59Speaker 5: wing is you know, I think the bigger issue here Kratz.
- 35:04Speaker 2: One thing I just want to add, and we'll have
- 35:06Speaker 2: to have Andrey Martinez back on the show because he
- 35:08Speaker 2: was kind of defending the front office side of the equation,
- 35:10Speaker 2: even though I do think it's much more roster construction
- 35:12Speaker 2: than Boonie is.
- 35:14Speaker 1: He said out.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Susan Waldman pointed out that no, Boonie's just getting the
- 35:17Speaker 2: info and then making the decisions. And I love Susan too,
- 35:20Speaker 2: but guess what, if you disagree too much, you don't
- 35:22Speaker 2: have a job. That's how it works. It doesn't have
- 35:24Speaker 2: to be said. But I'm going against both of them
- 35:27Speaker 2: on that front, and.
- 35:28Speaker 3: They have to all work in lockstep. Good organizations, which
- 35:31Speaker 3: the Yankees are a great organization, are working in lockstep
- 35:35Speaker 3: where you don't win.
- 35:37Speaker 1: I agree. It's ft presented by Fox One.
- 35:43Speaker 2: We're going to talk to Ryan Divish coming up in
- 35:45Speaker 2: just a moment about the Seattle Mariners and the Detroit Tigers,
- 35:49Speaker 2: and obviously the Mariners have the ultimate street going here.
- 35:53Speaker 2: The only team KP in Major League Baseball that's never
- 35:56Speaker 2: made it to the World Series. No World Series appearances
- 36:00Speaker 2: for the Mariners, and they're damn close here.
- 36:04Speaker 5: I mean, if they weren't clashing with the team that
- 36:07Speaker 5: I'm rooting for, I would be rooting for him, because,
- 36:10Speaker 5: once again, I like seeing things that have never happened before.
- 36:14Speaker 5: I think the Mariners is a tremendous organization. I always
- 36:19Speaker 5: love going to the city of Seattle. Very passionate fan
- 36:22Speaker 5: base and hot take. I think they have the MVP.
- 36:29Speaker 6: Not that hot, kind of lukewarm, kind of a lukewarm take, but.
- 36:34Speaker 5: No, I no, I was more to just get you
- 36:36Speaker 5: going a little bit.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think it's I think it's fifty
- 36:40Speaker 3: to fifty. Got a chance it is going to be
- 36:45Speaker 3: a game five, not like we've ever seen. I feel
- 36:49Speaker 3: like when it's Game five.
- 36:49Speaker 6: You're like, oh, who's going to hit the home run?
- 36:51Speaker 3: It's like who's going to get jammed and get the
- 36:55Speaker 3: first on a fielder's choice?
- 37:00Speaker 5: Can we recreate that ball that went over Schoobl's head.
- 37:04Speaker 5: You know, that's what they're working on the cagere at
- 37:05Speaker 5: right now. They're like, hey, you can't hit them, but
- 37:08Speaker 5: maybe you can chop one off home plate, get it
- 37:11Speaker 5: over his head. And if you are fortunate to somehow
- 37:13Speaker 5: get to second base, just run like hell until someone
- 37:16Speaker 5: stops you, because it feels like that's the only way
- 37:19Speaker 5: to score.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Run off them, and we'll pick your thumbs up. The
- 37:22Speaker 3: next batter will pick your thumbs up in the batter's box,
- 37:24Speaker 3: or the guy scoring will pick pick your thumbs up.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Like it's like you're gonna see old school baseball tonight, that.
- 37:31Speaker 6: Is for sure, buners.
- 37:34Speaker 5: I mean we could see we could see a sagmunt
- 37:36Speaker 5: in the first inning. I think that's how that's what
- 37:39Speaker 5: type of game it's gonna be.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Over Under two and a half bunts.
- 37:44Speaker 6: In the game, I'm going under. Going over, I'm going
- 37:48Speaker 6: under because they won. They won't have that many base runners.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Wow, here we go.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Let's talk about this big game five coming up with
- 37:57Speaker 2: Seattle Times writer Ryan Davish. Back on it, Ryan, we
- 38:00Speaker 2: really appreciate the time, crazy night coming up in Seattle.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Can you paint the picture of how crazy it's going
- 38:06Speaker 2: to be for the city, but then also for the
- 38:09Speaker 2: game in terms of decision making on the Seattle side,
- 38:12Speaker 2: I think Dan Wilson probably is going to have a
- 38:15Speaker 2: little more churning to do with his pitching decisions versus
- 38:18Speaker 2: aj Hinch.
- 38:20Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm expecting it to be chaos tonight. I think
- 38:24Speaker 8: part of it is is like, I know the fan
- 38:26Speaker 8: base is excited, but there's a segment of the fan
- 38:28Speaker 8: base it's absolutely terrified of what's kind of happened because
- 38:32Speaker 8: of I don't know, just the years and years and
- 38:35Speaker 8: years of frustration, and so there is a large segment
- 38:38Speaker 8: of the fan base that's probably a little pessimistic.
- 38:41Speaker 4: They seem to all reside in my Twitter mentions.
- 38:44Speaker 8: Then there's also a part of the fan base that's like,
- 38:47Speaker 8: oh yeah, I no, Like it's better that they have this.
- 38:49Speaker 8: Let's you know, they can win it at home, everybody
- 38:52Speaker 8: can celebrate with them.
- 38:53Speaker 4: It'll be pandemonium.
- 38:54Speaker 8: I mean, when they clinched the division, there was a
- 38:58Speaker 8: huge party outside of T Mobile Park and people are
- 39:02Speaker 8: out celebrating. So I'm guessing that's you know that there's
- 39:05Speaker 8: just all that kind of anxiety, like nervous anxiety, excited energy, all.
- 39:10Speaker 4: That stuff mixed together.
- 39:11Speaker 8: You just don't want the rubbing off on the players obviously,
- 39:14Speaker 8: and it's for the moves. I mean, like it's gonna
- 39:17Speaker 8: be a little different. You know, we've expected this from
- 39:20Speaker 8: aj Hinch because that's how they've done stuff a lot
- 39:23Speaker 8: of the years.
- 39:23Speaker 4: But it's different when you have Trek Skuel on the mound.
- 39:26Speaker 4: You don't, you know, your decisions are pretty easy.
- 39:28Speaker 8: With Dan Wilson, you know it's gonna be managing a
- 39:32Speaker 8: game different than he's ever managed before. I mean, I
- 39:35Speaker 8: think that he saw that in game one, adjusted in
- 39:38Speaker 8: game two. I thought in game four there was some
- 39:41Speaker 8: different things he could have done maybe to offset things.
- 39:45Speaker 8: And so tonight it's gonna be you know, if George
- 39:47Speaker 8: Kirby doesn't have it, you got to go get him
- 39:49Speaker 8: right away.
- 39:49Speaker 4: You know.
- 39:50Speaker 8: I think he'll be fine. I think George's has looked
- 39:52Speaker 8: pretty strong. You saw the ninety nine mile por sinkers.
- 39:54Speaker 8: He was firing in the last game. There's last outing.
- 39:57Speaker 8: But you cannot hesitate. You have to be aggre if
- 40:00Speaker 8: in every decision you make in a game five, because
- 40:02Speaker 8: it's winner.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Go home, Ryan finish this sentence for me, the manner
- 40:08Speaker 5: the Mariners win tonight, if.
- 40:12Speaker 8: The Mayors win a night, if Cal Rawley or Julio
- 40:16Speaker 8: Rodriguez hit a homer, that's you know, to me, that's
- 40:19Speaker 8: a big thing. Like if you noticed the first few
- 40:21Speaker 8: games where they were going, Julio was a big presence,
- 40:24Speaker 8: and I think Game three, Game four, they really were
- 40:27Speaker 8: very careful with how they pitched to him because they
- 40:30Speaker 8: know how much damage he can cause, and he didn't.
- 40:32Speaker 4: You know, he didn't have a hit in neither of
- 40:34Speaker 4: those two games, I believe, So getting.
- 40:36Speaker 8: Julio on base or having him hit him hit a homer,
- 40:39Speaker 8: I know, you guys, a boy aj he's been bringing up.
- 40:42Speaker 4: If the Mariners hit two homers in a game, that
- 40:43Speaker 4: are usually pretty unbeatable.
- 40:45Speaker 8: So if they can get one homer from Cal or
- 40:48Speaker 8: Julio and then maybe a homer from somebody else, that's
- 40:50Speaker 8: how they do it. But it probably won't come off
- 40:52Speaker 8: of Terrek schoobl I mean, like you think about it.
- 40:54Speaker 8: The other day, Scooble threw what six innings, he struck
- 40:57Speaker 8: out nine, He allowed five hits, but he just basically
- 41:00Speaker 8: they made two mistakes and they were both to Polanco.
- 41:02Speaker 4: Who hit him out.
- 41:03Speaker 8: I'm guessing that he won't throw a cement mixer to
- 41:05Speaker 8: Jorge Polanco again, or even a two to zero fastball
- 41:08Speaker 8: and challenge him. I think they're gonna be very They're
- 41:11Speaker 8: gonna be very cognizant about where they want to be
- 41:14Speaker 8: and with in certain spots of the zone and let
- 41:16Speaker 8: other guys beat them, specifically the bottom of the order,
- 41:19Speaker 8: which other than in Game four, hasn't done a whole lot.
- 41:23Speaker 3: Do you lean to the fact that it is almost
- 41:25Speaker 3: impossible to beat Tarrek Scruble four times in a season
- 41:29Speaker 3: and just say he's been almost perfect. Now tonight he's
- 41:33Speaker 3: gonna be perfect? Or is there something in the sauce?
- 41:36Speaker 3: Is there something in the fact that this team swings
- 41:40Speaker 3: and Tarrek Scrugle's not pitching around guys and so you
- 41:44Speaker 3: know the two laws of attraction pitches guys pitching the
- 41:47Speaker 3: zone and teams that swing. Something bad is gonna happen
- 41:50Speaker 3: for Scooble.
- 41:51Speaker 8: I certainly don't think they're afraid of him. I mean,
- 41:54Speaker 8: like you played him three times, you're not afraid of
- 41:56Speaker 8: what he's done. You know you can beat him, even
- 41:59Speaker 8: if it has been kind of ugly.
- 42:00Speaker 4: In how they've beaten him.
- 42:01Speaker 8: I mean, we're trying about Donovan Solano hit an RBI
- 42:04Speaker 8: triple in one of the games that they beat him,
- 42:05Speaker 8: and Dylan Moore, who you know, in the first time
- 42:08Speaker 8: they beat him, they hit a solo homer. Those guys
- 42:10Speaker 8: aren't with him anymore. But I think you beat a guy,
- 42:12Speaker 8: you've seen him a lot. I think they understand. The
- 42:15Speaker 8: one thing is is like that that change up, that disgusting,
- 42:18Speaker 8: filthy change up they get in counts where that it's
- 42:21Speaker 8: a possibility. They just got to see it up because
- 42:23Speaker 8: it's like that thing is so nasty and he'll.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Throw it left on left. You know.
- 42:28Speaker 8: I was looking at my buddy Tim Booth that works
- 42:29Speaker 8: with me at the see all times. He did some
- 42:31Speaker 8: research on this and like guys coming out of their
- 42:33Speaker 8: their cy Young year or guys in their cy Young Year,
- 42:36Speaker 8: and we were expecting Schooble to win the Cy Young Year.
- 42:38Speaker 8: They don't lose to a team four times very often.
- 42:41Speaker 8: And the best kind of comp we could come up
- 42:43Speaker 8: with was twenty thirteen Clayton Kershaw, who lost the you know,
- 42:47Speaker 8: the Dodgers lost two games he started against the Cardinals
- 42:49Speaker 8: during the regular season, and they lost both times in the Alds,
- 42:53Speaker 8: so that's kind of where you know, and man, they
- 42:55Speaker 8: just crushed Kershaw that year. I don't think I'll do
- 42:57Speaker 8: the same with school. But that's where the territory we're
- 43:00Speaker 8: in right now. It's like you're comparing Scooball to Kershaw,
- 43:04Speaker 8: and that's what you're trying to do is beat him
- 43:05Speaker 8: four times or beat a game that he beat the
- 43:08Speaker 8: team when he starts four times in a season. It's
- 43:10Speaker 8: not simple, but I mean, stranger things have happened.
- 43:14Speaker 6: Should they even be in this spot?
- 43:16Speaker 3: We've watched a Tigers lineup that is, in my opinion,
- 43:20Speaker 3: is putrid. I get it the fact that the Mariner's rotation,
- 43:24Speaker 3: the Mariners bullpen, they are just running out arm after
- 43:27Speaker 3: arm after arm, and Tigers have looked listless. And yet
- 43:31Speaker 3: they're in a spot that is enviable by everybody. Elite
- 43:36Speaker 3: starter going and you win tonight, you move on. Should
- 43:39Speaker 3: the Mariners even be in this spot?
- 43:43Speaker 4: No, because I think they should have won Game one.
- 43:45Speaker 8: I don't think there's any way George Kirby should have
- 43:47Speaker 8: pitched the trek school or to carry Carpenter. There was
- 43:50Speaker 8: a bag open if you want to walk him. You
- 43:52Speaker 8: can do that, just don't let that happen. And similar
- 43:55Speaker 8: to the other day, I mean it's three nothing. I
- 43:57Speaker 8: know that you know, Spire and Bizarre, they just weren't
- 44:00Speaker 8: as crisp.
- 44:01Speaker 4: But I think you.
- 44:03Speaker 8: Know, in that situation, Dan Wilson did a favor for
- 44:07Speaker 8: AJ Hinch by bringing Inspire to face Parker Meadows.
- 44:10Speaker 4: That was into ten. You know he strikes out thirty
- 44:13Speaker 4: percent of the time.
- 44:13Speaker 8: You don't need if you want to go bring in Bizarro,
- 44:16Speaker 8: because what happened is is the moment Spier came in,
- 44:19Speaker 8: Jamia Jones came in, and that did them a favor.
- 44:21Speaker 8: You weren't You weren't putting a situation where AJ had
- 44:24Speaker 8: to make a decision between Jami Jones and Kerry Carpenter.
- 44:27Speaker 8: It's no decision with a lefty face in Parker Meadows.
- 44:29Speaker 8: You're going to Jamia Jones regardless of the defense that
- 44:32Speaker 8: Meadows provides. So then all of a sudden, Gabe Spier's
- 44:34Speaker 8: facing back to back writings. Then he gets Carpenter in
- 44:36Speaker 8: another wrighty, that's not what you have Gabe Spier in
- 44:39Speaker 8: there for.
- 44:40Speaker 4: And I know he can get out right hander. So
- 44:41Speaker 4: I think that one was kind of questionable. The Mayors didn't.
- 44:44Speaker 8: Add after they got the three runs they had basis load,
- 44:46Speaker 8: they only get one. But yeah, I feel like this
- 44:49Speaker 8: series should have been over with. Am I a little
- 44:52Speaker 8: sour because it would have been a lot easier to
- 44:54Speaker 8: drive from Toronto from Detroit to Toronto than flying back
- 44:56Speaker 8: to Seattle.
- 44:57Speaker 4: But they they, I.
- 44:58Speaker 8: Mean from a talent standpoint, yeah, the Marriners are the
- 45:00Speaker 8: better team. And what happens is when you get to
- 45:03Speaker 8: a game five in a short series and you know
- 45:05Speaker 8: they got their horse going, luck starts to play into
- 45:08Speaker 8: it too. A bad break here, a bad break there,
- 45:10Speaker 8: you know, I mean you look at the other day.
- 45:12Speaker 8: I felt like the Bryce Miller inning where everything went south.
- 45:16Speaker 8: Randio Rosarina has to cut that ball off in left field.
- 45:19Speaker 8: It's happened twice. Bad angle, bad Reid doesn't cut it off.
- 45:23Speaker 8: Let's it get to the gap. Then all of a
- 45:24Speaker 8: sudden it's a double scoring run. You know, if he
- 45:27Speaker 8: cuts it off, if he finds a way to cut
- 45:29Speaker 8: it off, maybe they get the run of the third.
- 45:31Speaker 8: But Dylan Dingler does not get to second base. And
- 45:33Speaker 8: then you can play a little bit, You can match up,
- 45:35Speaker 8: you can do some things. So I think, like that's
- 45:38Speaker 8: the thing is like, once you get into a game five,
- 45:41Speaker 8: the luck component happens. One mistake here, one mistake there.
- 45:45Speaker 4: You know that happens.
- 45:46Speaker 8: Like even last night you're watching you're watching the Phillies
- 45:50Speaker 8: and the Dodgers. The Phillies had so many opportunities and
- 45:53Speaker 8: they just couldn't and it's game five and you find
- 45:55Speaker 8: a way to lose and you're done. And that's the
- 45:57Speaker 8: difference with the five game series versus the seven. In
- 46:00Speaker 8: a seven, I think the overall talent of the Mariners
- 46:02Speaker 8: wins out regardless of decisions. But in five, you know,
- 46:06Speaker 8: you make one mistake, you have one bad game from
- 46:09Speaker 8: a reliever or something like that, and all of a
- 46:10Speaker 8: sudden you're fighting for your life.
- 46:13Speaker 5: All right, make your best case against Aeric Kratz, who
- 46:16Speaker 5: believes Aaron Judge is going to win the MVP. Why
- 46:18Speaker 5: cal Rawley should be the MVP.
- 46:23Speaker 8: Well, the running joke was the other night cal Rawley,
- 46:27Speaker 8: after Vargas threw the wild pitch that he couldn't block,
- 46:30Speaker 8: he threw one hundred mile per hour sinker in the
- 46:32Speaker 8: dirt that cal went across his body backhanded and blocked
- 46:35Speaker 8: with one leg and glove and right there I said,
- 46:41Speaker 8: I mean, yeah, hitting sixty homers is pretty hard. Catching
- 46:45Speaker 8: Carlos Vargas multiple times in a season, on's the aeron judge,
- 46:48Speaker 8: do that?
- 46:48Speaker 6: You know what?
- 46:48Speaker 4: I mean?
- 46:49Speaker 8: Like the amount of stress that Cal Rawley has put
- 46:51Speaker 8: on himself and his body physically every day.
- 46:54Speaker 4: Crats should know how many times you get up and
- 46:56Speaker 4: get down in a nine inning game.
- 46:59Speaker 8: I mean, this is guy's caught more innings than anybody
- 47:01Speaker 8: else in the American League.
- 47:02Speaker 4: I just think physically what he's done.
- 47:05Speaker 8: The amount of pressure, the amount of time, the amount
- 47:07Speaker 8: of focus that goes into everyone else other than him.
- 47:11Speaker 8: I think that's why. I mean, that's how you measure value.
- 47:15Speaker 8: You know, I was a very mediocre catcher in college
- 47:18Speaker 8: and catching a seven inning game, I felt like I
- 47:21Speaker 8: got hit by a train. So Cal's doing this every
- 47:24Speaker 8: night and catching the best guys in the world. So
- 47:26Speaker 8: I just think, like the amount of influence he has
- 47:30Speaker 8: on the game, beyond his hitting numbers, beyond OPS plus
- 47:33Speaker 8: or ops is something you can't possibly measure, but you
- 47:39Speaker 8: kind of know it. And I mean, I guess to me,
- 47:41Speaker 8: it's like I see an MVP level performance and somebody
- 47:46Speaker 8: joke with me that it's because I spent most of
- 47:48Speaker 8: my early years of my career in Seattle watching bad
- 47:51Speaker 8: catching that when I see good catching, I overvalue it.
- 47:54Speaker 8: But I don't think there's any overvaluing good catching and
- 47:59Speaker 8: production from a catch. I mean, how many guys do
- 48:02Speaker 8: we see now produced from the catcher spot the way?
- 48:05Speaker 4: Not even like cal Rawle.
- 48:06Speaker 8: I mean cal Rale of last year is kind of
- 48:09Speaker 8: like a unicorn hitting thirty five bombs sixty.
- 48:12Speaker 4: I mean, I will never see a season like this again.
- 48:16Speaker 3: You mean Kenji Joe Jama wasn't the best catcher you've
- 48:19Speaker 3: ever seen?
- 48:20Speaker 6: And go ahead, go ahead.
- 48:23Speaker 4: I go off the list.
- 48:25Speaker 8: I covered Miguelo Levo and Jeff Clement, Jesus Montero, who
- 48:30Speaker 8: I hope is doing better because I know he's in
- 48:32Speaker 8: a bad car accident down in Venezuela.
- 48:34Speaker 4: I cover a lot of bad catchers.
- 48:36Speaker 8: I mean, you know, that's why when Mike Xanino, when
- 48:39Speaker 8: they drafted Mike's Andino, and everybody was upset because you know,
- 48:42Speaker 8: Zanino was a two hundred hitter. That the amount of
- 48:45Speaker 8: runs that dude save. And I mean, ask the Tampa
- 48:48Speaker 8: Bay Rays what they've been looking for since a Nino
- 48:50Speaker 8: got hurt and retired. Like when you have that that
- 48:53Speaker 8: guy back there and you can stamp him in and
- 48:55Speaker 8: he can post.
- 48:57Speaker 4: I mean, it just makes such a huge difference.
- 49:00Speaker 6: All right.
- 49:01Speaker 3: Well, to make sure KP understands, I think Cow's the MVP.
- 49:06Speaker 3: I think Aaron Judge wins it. My opinion and who
- 49:10Speaker 3: wins it are two different things. But we gotta go
- 49:14Speaker 3: to We gotta go to Josh Naylor for my last question.
- 49:17Speaker 3: Josh Naylor relaying signs, what what do you like? Can
- 49:26Speaker 3: can we put this to bed? Is Hinch pissed about it?
- 49:29Speaker 6: Is?
- 49:29Speaker 3: Is it something that's gonna be taken care of tonight
- 49:32Speaker 3: spring training?
- 49:33Speaker 6: What do we got on it?
- 49:35Speaker 4: Yeah? AJ didn't seem very upset, you know, but AJ's
- 49:39Speaker 4: pretty polished on the podium.
- 49:41Speaker 8: I'm not gonna lie like he's a writer's dream because
- 49:44Speaker 8: he can talk forever about anything. But he didn't seem
- 49:48Speaker 8: too upset about it. I don't think kazy Miies was
- 49:50Speaker 8: upset or pleased about it. You know, he had a
- 49:52Speaker 8: few words. But this has been going on. It happened
- 49:57Speaker 8: to Andres Munos in New York earlier this year. Your
- 50:00Speaker 8: judge and some guys were signaling pitches and Munyos was
- 50:05Speaker 8: leaving his glove open so they could see the grips
- 50:07Speaker 8: on his pitches. And your facing Ondres Munno is knowing
- 50:10Speaker 8: that slider's coming is pretty useful. So I don't know
- 50:13Speaker 8: how much was pure location how much was gamesmanship. But
- 50:17Speaker 8: dominic can Zone was right after him and he was
- 50:20Speaker 8: signaling as well.
- 50:21Speaker 4: And I think in this.
- 50:22Speaker 8: Situation, you know, you have to you have to do
- 50:26Speaker 8: whatever it takes. Sure, could you be a little more subtle, Yeah,
- 50:30Speaker 8: But I mean, let's be honest, as Josh Naylor ever
- 50:32Speaker 8: come off as a subtle dude when it comes to.
- 50:34Speaker 4: That kind of stuff. And I'll say this about Josh.
- 50:38Speaker 8: Naylor, and it's true, he picks it up from watching
- 50:42Speaker 8: the games, like the lost art of watching games. You know,
- 50:44Speaker 8: you're not looking at the iPad and everything else. He's
- 50:47Speaker 8: in there watching games, and like he picks stuff up
- 50:49Speaker 8: while he's watching the game, whether it's from the dugout
- 50:52Speaker 8: on base, you know, he sees all that stuff. And
- 50:54Speaker 8: I mean, credit to him. Yeah, could you do it
- 50:56Speaker 8: a little bit more subtly? Probably? You know, when we
- 51:00Speaker 8: saw Dingler moving the locations around a little bit and
- 51:03Speaker 8: trying to fake out the locations, and I don't know
- 51:06Speaker 8: how much of it was real and what wasn't. It
- 51:08Speaker 8: certainly bothered Casey Mice when he was pitching. So I
- 51:11Speaker 8: don't think Josh is gonna change. I don't think anything's
- 51:14Speaker 8: gonna make Josh Naylor change anything. So from there, we'll
- 51:17Speaker 8: we'll see. But it'll be interesting tonight.
- 51:18Speaker 7: You know.
- 51:18Speaker 8: In the old days, there yeah, heaters in your ribs.
- 51:21Speaker 8: I just don't think the postseas are going.
- 51:22Speaker 6: To see that. Now.
- 51:24Speaker 2: You might see it next season, or like krat said,
- 51:26Speaker 2: sometime in twenty twenty six, when it matters less in
- 51:29Speaker 2: a different moment. And I don't believe Hinch for a second,
- 51:32Speaker 2: or even if you do. It might not have bothered him,
- 51:34Speaker 2: but it bothered some of the players. And we also
- 51:37Speaker 2: saw what happened later on in the game. I mean
- 51:39Speaker 2: the Tigers lit up. I'm not saying that that was
- 51:41Speaker 2: what caused it, but I think some Tigers were pretty
- 51:44Speaker 2: pissed about it.
- 51:45Speaker 1: That's me.
- 51:45Speaker 4: They're certainly aware about it.
- 51:47Speaker 8: Right now, they're going to be discussing and I'm sure
- 51:48Speaker 8: they discussed it on the flight and discussing it pregame.
- 51:51Speaker 8: Make sure, Hey, close up your glove. Okay, don't signal
- 51:53Speaker 8: too soon. We saw that with cal Rawley too, that
- 51:56Speaker 8: they felt like the Dodgers were tipping some and even
- 51:59Speaker 8: the Astros were, we're tipping some pitches and kyl Rawley
- 52:02Speaker 8: started showing the glove and his target a lot.
- 52:04Speaker 4: Later because of it.
- 52:05Speaker 8: You make the adjustment and there are you know, you're
- 52:09Speaker 8: trying to win here and it isn't illegal. I mean,
- 52:11Speaker 8: I think that's probably probably one reason why AJ Hinch
- 52:13Speaker 8: can't talk about it or be hypercritical of it, because
- 52:16Speaker 8: it'd be a little hypocritical.
- 52:18Speaker 4: If he did, considering who he managed during those years.
- 52:22Speaker 1: Exactly right. He has to watch it a little more,
- 52:25Speaker 1: which is understandable too.
- 52:26Speaker 4: Ryan.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Enjoy it, man, It's gonna be awesome. What a scene.
- 52:29Speaker 2: I know you've covered this team for a minute and
- 52:31Speaker 2: this is the big moment. So thanks for joining us before.
- 52:34Speaker 2: I appreciate the time.
- 52:35Speaker 6: Dude.
- 52:36Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks.
- 52:36Speaker 8: I've had a lot of AJ in my life. I'm
- 52:38Speaker 8: not going to say five games of AJ. It's a lot,
- 52:41Speaker 8: you know.
- 52:42Speaker 2: One more AJ and he's going to be bringing this
- 52:45Speaker 2: is his last game of the year, so yes, we
- 52:47Speaker 2: apologize in advance.
- 52:48Speaker 1: But I don't feel bad for you.
- 52:50Speaker 2: We have him on just about every day, so I
- 52:52Speaker 2: sit next to him for half of my life. Thanks Ryan,
- 52:55Speaker 2: doctor soon dude, coming back for a quick minute here.
- 52:58Speaker 2: So Mike G's a big Cups fan and he's been
- 53:00Speaker 2: in the chat. We've been going back and forth.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Two things.
- 53:02Speaker 2: One he said we were not listening closely enough to
- 53:05Speaker 2: the broadcast because it was in the very beginning of
- 53:07Speaker 2: the game.
- 53:07Speaker 1: And I actually will take the l on that one.
- 53:09Speaker 1: He's probably right.
- 53:10Speaker 2: We're doing a postgame show, and you know, they were
- 53:13Speaker 2: flipping from the one game to the other, so there
- 53:14Speaker 2: was a little bit of crossover there, so I I
- 53:16Speaker 2: was looking at it, but I guess I missed. You know,
- 53:18Speaker 2: apparently the broadcast was picking up the Freddy thing and
- 53:20Speaker 2: it was a huge deal and it's all they're talking
- 53:22Speaker 2: about in Chicago.
- 53:23Speaker 1: So okay, that's fair. Number two.
- 53:26Speaker 2: Caid, Yeah, exactly, not a national story, more of a
- 53:28Speaker 2: local thing. Cool Caid Horton, he said, would you try
- 53:33Speaker 2: and fudge the roster get someone hurt to put him
- 53:36Speaker 2: in for Game five? Because he said that he's pain
- 53:38Speaker 2: free now. And I looked into the story a little
- 53:40Speaker 2: bit more and he did say he's pain free, but
- 53:43Speaker 2: he said really not trying to still push it. But
- 53:46Speaker 2: for right now, I'm feeling good. So I don't know
- 53:50Speaker 2: if he's definitely ready, And I don't think that's going
- 53:53Speaker 2: to happen because I'm assuming there's got to be all
- 53:54Speaker 2: kinds of throwing programs and things going on. But maybe
- 53:57Speaker 2: he will be a factor in the next round, which
- 53:59Speaker 2: would be huge for them if that's the case.
- 54:03Speaker 3: Not pudging the roster, as somebody who's been on the
- 54:05Speaker 3: phanomi l they're not fudging the playoff roster. You gotta
- 54:10Speaker 3: you're gonna go through a lot more channels to be
- 54:12Speaker 3: able to pudge a roster in the postseason.
- 54:16Speaker 9: I wanna get hurt, can come back, fracture Griff Robert,
- 54:34Speaker 9: All right, let's slap quick crats, hats.
- 54:40Speaker 6: Nice, that's it. I'm here with my buddy K Pizzle
- 54:43Speaker 6: Drizzle from the Sizzle.
- 54:45Speaker 1: I have a question for k Pizzle.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Skip Schumacher was just introduced to as Rangers manager. We
- 54:50Speaker 2: all saw that one coming. But are you excited for
- 54:53Speaker 2: him to lead the charge?
- 54:54Speaker 6: Now?
- 54:57Speaker 5: Am I excited for?
- 54:58Speaker 6: What? For? Skin?
- 55:01Speaker 5: I'm not there anymore.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I like Skip.
- 55:03Speaker 5: I think I think I know, Yeah, I'm excited for Skip.
- 55:07Speaker 5: I like Skip a lot as a human. He was
- 55:09Speaker 5: around a ton. I think he got kind of the
- 55:11Speaker 5: short end of the stick in Miami. And you know,
- 55:16Speaker 5: he's in a good place. He's in a good place.
- 55:17Speaker 5: See he's you know, took a year off, learned the organization.
- 55:22Speaker 5: I think he's the right guy for the job considering
- 55:24Speaker 5: what they're talking about. Obviously they have a lot of
- 55:26Speaker 5: big contracts they have, but they're gonna have to fill
- 55:29Speaker 5: that roster with a lot of younger guys to to
- 55:31Speaker 5: kind of bring payroll down. I think Skip has a
- 55:34Speaker 5: history what he did in Miami getting the best out
- 55:36Speaker 5: of those young guys. So I think he's the right
- 55:38Speaker 5: guy for the right I think he's the right guy
- 55:40Speaker 5: at the right time where this organization is heading.
- 55:43Speaker 2: I didn't see the press conference, but saying you want
- 55:45Speaker 2: to establish a winning culture for a team that won
- 55:47Speaker 2: two years ago, Skip, you might want that one back.
- 55:51Speaker 1: Like obviously I love Skip.
- 55:53Speaker 5: But I but I think that's been kind of the
- 55:55Speaker 5: big I think that's kind of been the big issue there.
- 55:57Speaker 5: There's been it's been an excuse year after year, we
- 56:01Speaker 5: want a World Series, but the culture isn't about winning
- 56:03Speaker 5: right now, so I think I think what he's saying
- 56:05Speaker 5: is valid.
- 56:07Speaker 3: I agree, and he did it in Miami with no personnel.
- 56:11Speaker 3: It's a thing. It might be a generic comment, but
- 56:14Speaker 3: I agree with KP.
- 56:16Speaker 5: Yeah, it's not a winning team. It's a culture that
- 56:19Speaker 5: he created, so I think it's fair.
- 56:25Speaker 2: If you're new to the party on bet MGM, then
- 56:29Speaker 2: get yourself signed up and look at an odds boost
- 56:31Speaker 2: token for the postseason.
- 56:33Speaker 1: You can apply that.
- 56:34Speaker 2: Boost to see that nice little gold slab across the
- 56:36Speaker 2: bottom there. You turn the boost on, and if you
- 56:40Speaker 2: apply that to a bet slip that is eligible for
- 56:43Speaker 2: it and activate the token, you can win a little
- 56:45Speaker 2: more little extra winnings. Gambling problem or concern called one
