- 0:29Speaker 1: No movement for the Patriots anything close. I don't know.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I don't even know what you mean, what is that?
- 0:35Speaker 1: But it's taken this whole blue mommy way, you know,
- 0:39Speaker 1: or whatever you call that. You know, I have no
- 0:41Speaker 1: further comments on that one, you know. I know you
- 0:43Speaker 1: don't think that the blond Ammies are then, but you
- 0:45Speaker 1: watch the Blond Armies come. So he's the best player
- 0:48Speaker 1: on the Patriot right, I think he's the Patriots best
- 0:52Speaker 1: But even now he's thrown to be the most the
- 0:54Speaker 1: best player on the Patriots, right, I think he's the
- 0:57Speaker 1: Patriots best player. Yes, yeah, and he's the best Patriots.
- 1:00Speaker 1: It's the best player on the Patriots. Yeah, that's what
- 1:02Speaker 1: I think. Yeah, but that's just my opinion. That doesn't
- 1:04Speaker 1: mean best player is he the best player but Europe. Yes,
- 1:07Speaker 1: I said that in the summer, you're coming over to
- 1:09Speaker 1: the nerds one. I just want to be like them.
- 1:14Speaker 1: When you get weapons and you get an offensive coordinator
- 1:16Speaker 1: that knows how to design plays, the quarterback plays better,
- 1:19Speaker 1: imagine that we'll see shocking. I need to know if
- 1:22Speaker 1: you're serious or not when you say that you think
- 1:24Speaker 1: Bill just believes that he can win without a without
- 1:27Speaker 1: a quarterback? Okay, whatever, Like I'm just done with What
- 1:32Speaker 1: is the point now? I'm now, I'm really am man,
- 1:35Speaker 1: What is the point? Tell me why I'm wrong? Like
- 1:37Speaker 1: I am every other time you call you're a one
- 1:39Speaker 1: trick point? What it is? Patriots Unfiltered fueled by Duncan.
- 1:47Speaker 1: It was a raucous show yesterday that is finished. Not
- 1:51Speaker 1: sure if I can top that, but it is Thursday.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I just want to reiterate that that I stand by.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I think Romandre Stevenson is the best player the Patriots
- 2:00Speaker 1: best player. Your friend just kept saying and he's the
- 2:03Speaker 1: best player. That just it's so funny when you hear
- 2:07Speaker 1: it back. I'm still it's only kidding stick no me,
- 2:10Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, yeah, absolutely yeah, I saying it a lot.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I mean people are writing in about this. I mean,
- 2:15Speaker 1: it's just the rounder Steveenson thing. You're you're I mean, yeah,
- 2:18Speaker 1: we'll quit. Like would it just to address that a
- 2:22Speaker 1: little bit? What would it make anyone feel better if
- 2:24Speaker 1: I said, okay, maybe they'd be three and five instead
- 2:26Speaker 1: of four and four. I still think they'd be four
- 2:28Speaker 1: and four, But like, if you this Jets game, maybe
- 2:31Speaker 1: you could say that they wouldn't have won. Like, I mean,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I don't really think there's an argument to you made,
- 2:36Speaker 1: Brandy of you have the three games. I found a
- 2:39Speaker 1: stat that kind of supports you too, Like, like like, it's
- 2:41Speaker 1: just a little backup. I know you're gonna hold out
- 2:44Speaker 1: on that. I would imagine, No, I was gonna bring
- 2:45Speaker 1: it out. I thought it was funny. Yeah, you know,
- 2:46Speaker 1: football at siders does the defense adjusted yards above replacement,
- 2:50Speaker 1: So it's basically like I know, no, I know, I know,
- 2:53Speaker 1: I feel like this is not going to support my argue.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I love when you take when you take one of
- 2:56Speaker 1: Paul's things and then you put like a statistical thing
- 2:58Speaker 1: on it, but um, you know it's such like if
- 3:00Speaker 1: you had an average back, how much better is this
- 3:02Speaker 1: guy than an average just run of the Milk gets
- 3:05Speaker 1: what's there? Twenty third Stevenson in the league. He's lower
- 3:08Speaker 1: than Harris Is as far as like yards above replacement
- 3:11Speaker 1: is in terms of the football. What does that meaning?
- 3:14Speaker 1: Like if you replaced him, how much better would he be?
- 3:16Speaker 1: How much better? Does he know? I could get a
- 3:18Speaker 1: different But I think I am. I know we probably
- 3:21Speaker 1: let Evan to explain it, but I yeah, that was
- 3:26Speaker 1: that was that big guess. I just I stumbled upon that.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I thought it was kind of yeah in twenty Well.
- 3:30Speaker 1: The point that I'm trying to make is not that
- 3:32Speaker 1: I think he hasn't played well, not that I, like
- 3:34Speaker 1: I said and Fred and Fred remain if I feel
- 3:38Speaker 1: like he's the best player. But I just don't look
- 3:41Speaker 1: at any of the game. I feel like, when you
- 3:42Speaker 1: have the other team turning the ball over four times,
- 3:44Speaker 1: you're probably gonna win the game. Like they won twenty
- 3:47Speaker 1: nine nothing against Detroit. Yes, he had a career high
- 3:50Speaker 1: one hundred and sixty one yards, Like, can anyone honestly
- 3:53Speaker 1: tell me that they don't think that someone else ran
- 3:56Speaker 1: the ball? They wouldn't have won the game because the
- 3:58Speaker 1: other team went over six on fourth down like that.
- 4:02Speaker 1: That's my only point it's not that he's like people
- 4:05Speaker 1: keep saying, Well, if you're saying their record wouldn't be different,
- 4:08Speaker 1: then you're saying he's irrelevant. No, I'm not saying he's irrelevant.
- 4:12Speaker 1: He's a good player. But I think that the game's
- 4:16Speaker 1: the way they've unfolded this year. You're gonna beat Pittsburgh.
- 4:20Speaker 1: When they turn the ball over, the ball goes off
- 4:22Speaker 1: for Gunnarshefski's face masket inside the ten yard line, you're
- 4:25Speaker 1: gonna win the game. Right? Did they have to have
- 4:28Speaker 1: Romondre Stevenson to win that game? He's still good. I
- 4:33Speaker 1: just I didn't get it. Sorry, I didn't mean to
- 4:35Speaker 1: bring it back up. No, we don't have to go
- 4:37Speaker 1: back into it. But I just think that somehow people
- 4:40Speaker 1: are equating me saying that their record would be the
- 4:42Speaker 1: same with saying that he stinks and he's irrelevant. I'm
- 4:45Speaker 1: not saying he's irrelevant. All Right, It's Thursday here at
- 4:47Speaker 1: Chiletts Stadium. Five five hundred is the eight stake at
- 4:51Speaker 1: Outline web Radio, at Patriots dot com, it's the email address.
- 4:55Speaker 1: We're getting ready for the Colts. Obviously we've got picks today.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Big show. Evan will be back from practice. When he's
- 5:02Speaker 1: back from practice, hope I'll always calmed down a little bit.
- 5:05Speaker 1: He angry. He was angry. I know what I want.
- 5:08Speaker 1: First of all, it was my favorite ever moment from
- 5:11Speaker 1: from Evan yesterday since in a short time being with us.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I want Speed to call back in so I could
- 5:17Speaker 1: yell at because that was my favorite. That was my
- 5:21Speaker 1: favorite part. That's why I got fun you know, he
- 5:25Speaker 1: doesn't even get our games. Oh I know, it's funny
- 5:28Speaker 1: because I feel like, like, we know Speed, who's this
- 5:31Speaker 1: caller who's always coming in, and Evan just like goes
- 5:33Speaker 1: right at him, like you know, like like, but that's fine,
- 5:36Speaker 1: It's fine. It was great, loved it. I sent him
- 5:39Speaker 1: a text. I gave him a little out of boys
- 5:41Speaker 1: and I jumped in and then he pushed back at me.
- 5:45Speaker 1: It was I thought that was a great last time
- 5:46Speaker 1: I was liked it. Yeah, oh it was. It was.
- 5:48Speaker 1: It was funny. I was thinking about it last night
- 5:49Speaker 1: and they were I don't know if you do this, Paul,
- 5:51Speaker 1: you probably just think of all your arguments right off
- 5:53Speaker 1: the top. I'm like George Gastanza were like twenty four
- 5:55Speaker 1: to forty eight hours. It takes me to process an
- 5:57Speaker 1: argument and then figure out what it was. And oh yeah,
- 6:00Speaker 1: the church store called exactly his mom died, Deuce is
- 6:04Speaker 1: making a YouTube turn on Route one? Can we do
- 6:07Speaker 1: an emergency show? I got a point. I finally came up.
- 6:11Speaker 1: My dad called me and gave it to me. Um.
- 6:13Speaker 1: You know, one little counter that I was thinking was
- 6:14Speaker 1: like Patrick Mahomes didn't have too much drop off though
- 6:16Speaker 1: when he lost Tyreek Hill. I don't know how that
- 6:18Speaker 1: fits into the whole thing, but I summed up the
- 6:21Speaker 1: argument between I think Evan was basically saying weapons and
- 6:24Speaker 1: you were saying Mac. Yeah. So I will say this
- 6:28Speaker 1: out of the interest of fairness, and I will repeat
- 6:30Speaker 1: it when when Evan comes in. I did go out
- 6:33Speaker 1: of my way to ask a lot of different people
- 6:36Speaker 1: the same question yesterday Mac Jones in Miami, right now, better, worse, same,
- 6:44Speaker 1: and the vast majority of people felt it would be
- 6:47Speaker 1: the same, so they agreed with Evan, And I mean,
- 6:51Speaker 1: in reality, I probably would agree with that too. I
- 6:54Speaker 1: think Evan was probably right. I kind of really liked
- 6:56Speaker 1: the way Evan was snapping at speed and I just
- 6:59Speaker 1: needed to get into a wanted So in retrospect, I'd
- 7:03Speaker 1: probably went a little bit further into that just because
- 7:06Speaker 1: I liked the reaction. It was eliciting from Evan when
- 7:09Speaker 1: he told when he told Spiel you're wrong, like that
- 7:12Speaker 1: was like my favorite moment in Evan Peu history. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 1: there it is. Um. You know. I think the thing
- 7:19Speaker 1: just for me that's hard is that Tuah has kind
- 7:22Speaker 1: of owned the Patriots and he's looked really good and efficient,
- 7:24Speaker 1: and I just I can't say that about Mac against anybody,
- 7:27Speaker 1: you know, And that's just my impression, my Patriots impression
- 7:30Speaker 1: to Tah. Maybe I think a little higher of him,
- 7:32Speaker 1: just that we haven't been able to solve them. And
- 7:33Speaker 1: I would also say I think in general Patriots fans
- 7:36Speaker 1: think nothing of Tuah. So if you telling me that
- 7:39Speaker 1: Mac would look the same, is telling me that you
- 7:43Speaker 1: don't think that much differently than Ta from Mac and
- 7:48Speaker 1: some of his beau Because if if Mahomes was in
- 7:50Speaker 1: Miami right now, you think it would look better than this, well,
- 7:53Speaker 1: Josh Allen, because I do. Yeah, yeah, Like I think
- 7:56Speaker 1: two has played well, but I don't think he's great,
- 7:59Speaker 1: but he makes them. I mean, I'm not trying to
- 8:00Speaker 1: turn this into a two A love fest, but I
- 8:02Speaker 1: mean he's impressed me this year. He's impressed me with
- 8:04Speaker 1: some of his accuracy, where you know, you talk about
- 8:06Speaker 1: guys who are accurate and that's their strength, and we
- 8:08Speaker 1: say that somewhat about Mac. I've seen two will make
- 8:11Speaker 1: accurate throws where I'm like that quickly white on the money,
- 8:15Speaker 1: and you know Max had a couple of those. But
- 8:17Speaker 1: I just I mean Two has been more consistent, He's
- 8:19Speaker 1: had more time, he has more around him. It's the
- 8:23Speaker 1: long way from being done yet, but he has a
- 8:25Speaker 1: lot more around him. I don't think anyone would argue
- 8:27Speaker 1: any differently. But I would also say that one thing
- 8:30Speaker 1: that looks like it's sticking out from Miami in general,
- 8:33Speaker 1: but in Tuah. And I don't think, I mean certain
- 8:35Speaker 1: the jury's way out on Mike McDaniel. The guy's coached
- 8:38Speaker 1: eight games, so we're not ready to, you know, call
- 8:41Speaker 1: him the next great thing. Brian flora is who I love,
- 8:45Speaker 1: did not embrace Tah, and this guy has. This guy's
- 8:51Speaker 1: accepted Touh, you know, for his strengths and his faults,
- 8:54Speaker 1: and that's his quarterback. And it's apparent to me that
- 8:57Speaker 1: he's playing much freer, with more sort of confidence being
- 9:02Speaker 1: shown in him from the coaching staff, and I think
- 9:04Speaker 1: that's I mean, have you seen that fright at all?
- 9:06Speaker 1: Like do you think that that's absolutely yeah, And we
- 9:09Speaker 1: wouldn't have to go Look, it's not a Miami show.
- 9:11Speaker 1: I get it. We can move on. I think Floris,
- 9:13Speaker 1: you know, Floris, you know was begot from Belichick and
- 9:17Speaker 1: that's a more conservative approach. Well, I think he also Flores.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I think they were, you know, like the whole time
- 9:22Speaker 1: they were looking to get Brady and they do looking
- 9:24Speaker 1: to do different things. And I just don't think they
- 9:27Speaker 1: ever were sold on tour once once he got there.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Ye all right, Um, injury report or not injury report,
- 9:35Speaker 1: practice participation report came out yesterday and David Andrews didn't practice.
- 9:41Speaker 1: And you know I often bring up your round table
- 9:45Speaker 1: on the Thursday Show. One of your questions was, you know,
- 9:48Speaker 1: what is the one thing and I said, offensive line play. Um,
- 9:54Speaker 1: you know, I think the Patriots defense will be fine,
- 9:58Speaker 1: but if the offensive line doesn't play well, it's gonna
- 10:00Speaker 1: be a slog. And if Andrews isn't in there, that
- 10:04Speaker 1: affects left guard at a minimum, right tackle is in flux.
- 10:11Speaker 1: That's what worries me about this game. Yeah, I agree.
- 10:13Speaker 1: That was I mean, prior to yesterday, that was my
- 10:15Speaker 1: biggest thing. Andrew is going to be back, you know that.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I mean, and Paul I think said it yesterday. It's
- 10:21Speaker 1: not about leadership. Of course you love the guy, but
- 10:24Speaker 1: it's just about play. And I mean, I think that
- 10:26Speaker 1: the drop off and you know what he means when
- 10:28Speaker 1: he's in there. Um, can you just get through this game?
- 10:31Speaker 1: Now it's looking he probably ain't gonna go, So can
- 10:34Speaker 1: you just get through this game, get to the bye week,
- 10:36Speaker 1: and then hopefully you get him back. I'm gonna hold
- 10:38Speaker 1: out hope for Whenevan gets back today. Maybe today, Yeah,
- 10:41Speaker 1: he's out there well, because it might be you know,
- 10:43Speaker 1: the protocol might have waited yesterday and you never know. Yeah. Um,
- 10:47Speaker 1: so I'm gonna hold out some hope. If he's a
- 10:50Speaker 1: d NP again today, then I would say he hasn't cleared. Yeah,
- 10:53Speaker 1: when are you posting your thing? Yeah, it was Friday morning,
- 10:56Speaker 1: so I might have to update it because at the
- 10:59Speaker 1: time I wrote it, obviously it didn't look like Andrews
- 11:02Speaker 1: would play. So if he does, look like you would
- 11:04Speaker 1: just tweak it a little, tweak it use your editing skills.
- 11:06Speaker 1: You saw you all your skills. You can't let his
- 11:09Speaker 1: mother see him. I like it. And then we'll do
- 11:10Speaker 1: a big one next week. You know, we'll do some
- 11:12Speaker 1: some you know, some perlatives. Well, you know I'm gonna
- 11:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna not be here Monday. Wait, wait, taken day off.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I need to do some things. And then Wednesday i'll
- 11:22Speaker 1: be here. But I'm leaving for Germany, so i won't
- 11:24Speaker 1: be here Thursday Friday, So I'll need your questions before
- 11:27Speaker 1: I leave. I got you. Well, it's on the byway.
- 11:30Speaker 1: In all seriousness, we do because I think that's a
- 11:32Speaker 1: good way to get our like sort of first half
- 11:34Speaker 1: thoughts of the team. Get a big long yeah, everybody,
- 11:37Speaker 1: are we gonna do like mid season awards? I would
- 11:40Speaker 1: include that. I think that could be part of part
- 11:42Speaker 1: of this if we want to do something separate, but
- 11:43Speaker 1: I think that's a good way to sort of get
- 11:45Speaker 1: all of our thoughts on mid season award kind of things.
- 11:48Speaker 1: And I was gonna do like a sort of a
- 11:50Speaker 1: mid season NFL awards for the top of my notes
- 11:52Speaker 1: this Monday. That's a good idea, perfect, it's goods. I'll
- 11:56Speaker 1: coming together I'll coming together. You know, it all took
- 11:59Speaker 1: us ten weeks. You know, I was going to say
- 12:02Speaker 1: twenty years. It takes some time to find out what
- 12:05Speaker 1: you got to find your identity. Yeah, but I'm lockstep
- 12:09Speaker 1: with Freddie on pass protection. That was That's my key
- 12:12Speaker 1: for Sunday, for our keys to the game. It's was
- 12:15Speaker 1: the key to that question. Like they have to find
- 12:18Speaker 1: a way to hold onto the ball, and in order
- 12:20Speaker 1: to hold onto the ball, you need to be, you know,
- 12:22Speaker 1: have better pass protection. So I think it all goes
- 12:24Speaker 1: hand in hand absolutely. Yeah. Um, you know, so I
- 12:28Speaker 1: just I just want to see Max see the field. Uh,
- 12:31Speaker 1: you know, have poison in the pocket, spread the ball,
- 12:35Speaker 1: you know. Um, you know a lot of that has
- 12:38Speaker 1: to do with Patricia too, in the in the play calling.
- 12:40Speaker 1: But you know, really it's rare that you know, unless
- 12:43Speaker 1: it's a screen or something like that, it's rare that
- 12:46Speaker 1: he only has one option on a play, you know,
- 12:48Speaker 1: So he has to start using some of those mental
- 12:51Speaker 1: faculties we are told that is his superpower. Yeah, you know.
- 12:55Speaker 1: And and and I'd like to see it start to
- 12:57Speaker 1: translate to the statue too. I mean, I know they
- 12:59Speaker 1: went on a long thing of praising him for the
- 13:01Speaker 1: things that he does that doesn't show up in the
- 13:02Speaker 1: stat sheet. But you know, it's like, if you're putting
- 13:04Speaker 1: people into the right play before the snap, maybe you
- 13:07Speaker 1: should be getting some more explosive plays. Maybe you should
- 13:09Speaker 1: be getting more more plays that do show up on
- 13:11Speaker 1: the stat sheet. So hopefully it translates. But I think
- 13:14Speaker 1: it's just like you guys said, I think it's all connected,
- 13:17Speaker 1: Like start protecting him, give him that confidence, and I
- 13:19Speaker 1: think once that starts to happen, then you might start
- 13:22Speaker 1: to click and see the chemistry and you know, things
- 13:24Speaker 1: happening organically outside of just everything feeling like and then
- 13:28Speaker 1: he blocked him and then we got the one yard
- 13:30Speaker 1: that we needed and then we're onto the next play.
- 13:32Speaker 1: You know, like things are big plays and you know,
- 13:35Speaker 1: exciting plays, And I just the other thing I was
- 13:37Speaker 1: thinking about last night was this team could really use
- 13:40Speaker 1: a nice home win. Like I just think Matt could
- 13:42Speaker 1: use it. I think the team could use it, fans
- 13:45Speaker 1: could use fans could use it. Going in just on
- 13:47Speaker 1: a high note. Maybe a feel good kind of victory
- 13:50Speaker 1: I think would be like one of those where you know,
- 13:52Speaker 1: the Colts get off the bus and Yeah, after that
- 13:56Speaker 1: first quarter they wish they never did, you know, like
- 13:59Speaker 1: start warming up the buses. This one's gonna be Yeah,
- 14:03Speaker 1: it would blow out, a blow out. I'd be interesting.
- 14:05Speaker 1: You know, it's gonna be interesting to see that first,
- 14:08Speaker 1: you know, the first possession, because I think it's so
- 14:10Speaker 1: different when the other team gets the ball first, and
- 14:13Speaker 1: then you get that three and out, You're like, feel
- 14:15Speaker 1: like we're you know, we're in control of this game. Yeah,
- 14:18Speaker 1: it's amazing how much that like seems to kind of
- 14:20Speaker 1: hinge on the on the coin flip a little bit
- 14:22Speaker 1: of I mean, it's it just seems like so much
- 14:24Speaker 1: more of a significant factor now, like Chicago won the
- 14:27Speaker 1: toss and deferred, and then they come out and they
- 14:29Speaker 1: force the three and out and you feel like you're
- 14:31Speaker 1: on your heels already. Then all of a sudden, the
- 14:32Speaker 1: Bears go right down the field kick a field goal,
- 14:34Speaker 1: and you're like, now, it's like you're thinking yourself, well,
- 14:37Speaker 1: we're ten minutes into the first quarter before we have
- 14:40Speaker 1: a chance to regain control with the game or get
- 14:42Speaker 1: control with the game. And in that case, it was
- 14:44Speaker 1: a lot of than that. Plus if it's a three
- 14:46Speaker 1: and out, you know when you start at your twenty five,
- 14:48Speaker 1: you're gonna have decent field position, you know, probably for
- 14:52Speaker 1: that second drive. So those of the hidden yards, you know,
- 14:55Speaker 1: field position yards that you that you see in a game. Freddy,
- 14:58Speaker 1: we get smart. Yeah, yeah, a lot of too. I
- 15:02Speaker 1: do think it was interesting too. We never really talk
- 15:03Speaker 1: about special teams, but I thought Slater saying that that
- 15:06Speaker 1: was maybe their worst performance last year. Ventrone on Indie side,
- 15:10Speaker 1: a guy that was around here. Um, the obviously the
- 15:13Speaker 1: block punt for for the touchdown last year was a
- 15:16Speaker 1: huge play in the game. But I thought it was
- 15:17Speaker 1: interesting that just acknowledging that was probably our worst game.
- 15:20Speaker 1: We really got it handed to us by these guys.
- 15:22Speaker 1: So we'll see what the Patriots are able to do,
- 15:24Speaker 1: you know, this week on special teams, if they're able
- 15:26Speaker 1: to make some place Bill. Bill had an interesting comment, Um,
- 15:31Speaker 1: you know, and I don't know if it was yesterday's
- 15:33Speaker 1: press conference, but he openly admitted we've had trouble with
- 15:36Speaker 1: mobile quarterbacks. Yeah, like like I guess he said things
- 15:40Speaker 1: that like, but it just that that stuck out to me.
- 15:42Speaker 1: It's like he's saying what we see. He usually doesn't
- 15:46Speaker 1: admit the ideas, right right, it's true. No, it's your
- 15:50Speaker 1: great point. I thought the same thing. I thought the
- 15:51Speaker 1: same thing anytime I think you hear him kind of
- 15:53Speaker 1: admit something specific that they haven't been able to kind
- 15:56Speaker 1: of crack yet. Maybe a good question for Mayo that
- 15:59Speaker 1: you know about what's the deal? I mean, you know,
- 16:02Speaker 1: you know you're gonna have to face these guys. I
- 16:03Speaker 1: mean god, I mean the thing that drives me nuts
- 16:05Speaker 1: is Josh Allen, Like, how do you how do you
- 16:07Speaker 1: not have some kind of answer for this by this
- 16:09Speaker 1: point or at least some kind of plan that you
- 16:11Speaker 1: kind of But then I look at it and I said, like,
- 16:14Speaker 1: who's got the plan? Nobody that great point, do you
- 16:16Speaker 1: know what I mean? Like, maybe the Patriots are bothered
- 16:21Speaker 1: by it a little bit more than the average team
- 16:23Speaker 1: to use your DVOA things like, you know, maybe they're
- 16:26Speaker 1: bothered by it a little bit more than most. But
- 16:29Speaker 1: I mean, I see Patrick Mahomes, I see Josh Allen,
- 16:32Speaker 1: I see Lamar Jackson, and I see very few teams
- 16:35Speaker 1: that are able to just say, like, this guy doesn't
- 16:37Speaker 1: really hurt us, you know, And maybe in the case
- 16:40Speaker 1: of the specific case of Lamar Jackson, maybe you see
- 16:43Speaker 1: the teams in the division do a little bit better
- 16:45Speaker 1: of a job with it, Yeah, because of you know,
- 16:47Speaker 1: the frequency that they see him. But I don't really
- 16:50Speaker 1: see a lot of teams just completely stopping it. You know,
- 16:53Speaker 1: for a game. You can do it, but like on
- 16:55Speaker 1: a consistent basis, especially when the longer the play lasts,
- 16:59Speaker 1: the more likely he could break it off. You know,
- 17:01Speaker 1: you have to whatever you're gonna do, you gotta do
- 17:03Speaker 1: it fast against those guys. You know, do you think
- 17:07Speaker 1: it's a point of emphasis to get the get shots
- 17:10Speaker 1: on them when you can, like, like, that's the only
- 17:12Speaker 1: thing I can really think that you But you can't.
- 17:14Speaker 1: You can't, like, you can't overdo it. You can't overrun
- 17:18Speaker 1: the play. You got to stay disciplined, you know. Yeah,
- 17:22Speaker 1: that's the last time that they beat Buffalo. It's when
- 17:26Speaker 1: Jonathan Jones. Yeah, and he knocked him out of the game,
- 17:29Speaker 1: not counting the Yeah. And I'm not I'm not obviously
- 17:32Speaker 1: not trying to say knock him out of the game,
- 17:35Speaker 1: but I know it's the only thing to go into
- 17:38Speaker 1: other than like we just got to chase him and
- 17:40Speaker 1: tackle him. I don't know what else you say philosophically,
- 17:43Speaker 1: as you know, unless you've got two guys on him
- 17:46Speaker 1: every time or whatever, like philosophical, I just feel like
- 17:48Speaker 1: you have to say, we need a Rodney Harrison type
- 17:51Speaker 1: or somebody who's going to give him a little extra business.
- 17:53Speaker 1: And that's probably why I'm a little intrigued by Jibril Peppers.
- 17:56Speaker 1: I know he's small, and probably him tackling Josh Allen's
- 17:59Speaker 1: a bad idea anyway, but he just seems to have
- 18:01Speaker 1: a little bit of that edge where it's like, you know,
- 18:03Speaker 1: maybe that first or second run when Lamar Jackson tucks
- 18:06Speaker 1: it or Josh Allen tucks it and he just gets popped,
- 18:08Speaker 1: it just gives them something to think about. I just
- 18:10Speaker 1: I don't know what else. I think Paul's point is
- 18:12Speaker 1: so so correct. What do you do. I don't think
- 18:16Speaker 1: there's something schematically that you can really adjust your whole defense.
- 18:19Speaker 1: So you go into the year where all right, we're
- 18:21Speaker 1: ready for mobile quarterbacks. I don't know so much about
- 18:23Speaker 1: passing offenses or other running conventional running back offenses, but
- 18:26Speaker 1: when they try to run with the quarterback, we're going
- 18:27Speaker 1: to kill him. You know. Yeah, I don't know what
- 18:29Speaker 1: the answer is, and I and I guess with like
- 18:31Speaker 1: Josh Allen specific I think it's the old cliche, you
- 18:33Speaker 1: try to make him go left. Well, that's the thing.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I know. I was thinking, like, you know, if that's
- 18:38Speaker 1: the case, then you want your pressure to come from
- 18:41Speaker 1: the other side to force them to go left, you know,
- 18:43Speaker 1: so you know, scheming a matchup that's favorable, so you
- 18:46Speaker 1: get pressure that closes off one exit. Yeah, it's I
- 18:50Speaker 1: think if you overloaded and did that, I think he
- 18:53Speaker 1: would right, he would take it. He would take off
- 18:54Speaker 1: and run right, you know, quick, you know, more quickly
- 18:57Speaker 1: than he would normally. That's that's that's why these guys,
- 19:00Speaker 1: is it great? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, that's why they're better
- 19:02Speaker 1: than everybody else. You know, there is no way, there's
- 19:05Speaker 1: no one answer. Are you at all? You know, speaking
- 19:08Speaker 1: of the mobility of these guys, you guys at all
- 19:11Speaker 1: worried about in that regards now him as a runner,
- 19:15Speaker 1: I mean not overall, but I find him a little bit.
- 19:16Speaker 1: But I'd like to see I really want to see
- 19:18Speaker 1: him try it, like just because I want to see
- 19:20Speaker 1: how the Patriots deal with it. Like, I mean, we
- 19:22Speaker 1: haven't really, like Bill said, we haven't seen him have
- 19:23Speaker 1: a lot of success stopping it all right, Well, let's
- 19:26Speaker 1: get a look at a second year quarterback. I just
- 19:28Speaker 1: I wonder overall what the Colts kind of mental state
- 19:32Speaker 1: is coming into this game. I mean last year, I
- 19:34Speaker 1: remember hearing about, you know, Frank Wright talking to his
- 19:37Speaker 1: team on the in season hard knocks and you know,
- 19:40Speaker 1: this is the test this week, and you know, just
- 19:42Speaker 1: blowing up the Patriots games as you know, a referendum
- 19:46Speaker 1: on their season, and they came out and played, you know, awesome,
- 19:48Speaker 1: and it was probably like the highlight of their season.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Right after that, I mean, they kind of faded just
- 19:52Speaker 1: like the Patriots did until it all fell apart in
- 19:54Speaker 1: Jackson before him. Do they have that same kind of
- 19:57Speaker 1: energy coming in after they've been a loading guys and
- 19:59Speaker 1: fire and coaches and they make a quarterback switch, And
- 20:02Speaker 1: I don't know, I think for a week or two,
- 20:04Speaker 1: because I thought they played really hard yesterday, but they are.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I think they're going down Tan Tank Avenue. I really do.
- 20:11Speaker 1: And I think when they lose a couple more, it
- 20:13Speaker 1: could be lookout below. But I do think they played
- 20:15Speaker 1: hard last week and I think they'll play hard this week.
- 20:18Speaker 1: You know, I think Taylor is huge. You know, he
- 20:20Speaker 1: didn't practice yesterday. So I don't know what's on him.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I don't know what his status were. So after the
- 20:25Speaker 1: forty two ten Patriots win, they're tanking, Mike, it doesn't matter.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Yeah you could get some of that. Yeah you could
- 20:31Speaker 1: get some of that, but you know it when you
- 20:33Speaker 1: see it. Yeah, you know, like they beat the Lions
- 20:35Speaker 1: twenty nine. Nothing. I don't think anybody said the Lions
- 20:37Speaker 1: were tanking. Yeah they might be now how they are.
- 20:40Speaker 1: But you know, going back to what Belichick said, and
- 20:43Speaker 1: you know, just openly saying we're having trouble with mobile quarterbacks,
- 20:47Speaker 1: is that almost a dare? You know, why don't you
- 20:50Speaker 1: have Sam run around? Because maybe he's got something up
- 20:54Speaker 1: his sleeve for that, you know, I don't know, or
- 20:56Speaker 1: maybe he just wants to, you know, this team to
- 20:59Speaker 1: have more practice against it, you know, but it was
- 21:02Speaker 1: just weird that he said that. You know. Yeah, well,
- 21:05Speaker 1: I just any any team that you know was aware
- 21:07Speaker 1: of Chicago and what Chicago did and how they installed
- 21:10Speaker 1: that and the success that they had and how they
- 21:12Speaker 1: you know, kind of caught the Patriots a little bit
- 21:13Speaker 1: off guard with it. I have a lot of respect
- 21:16Speaker 1: for what Chicago did in that game and their ability
- 21:18Speaker 1: to install a unique twist to attack the Patriots, just
- 21:22Speaker 1: like I had, you know, respect for how the Eagles
- 21:24Speaker 1: kind of did it back in Super Bowl fifty two,
- 21:26Speaker 1: where you know, when you know you have to beat
- 21:27Speaker 1: these teams, that that's how you have to play in
- 21:29Speaker 1: I mean, I hope that at some point we get
- 21:31Speaker 1: to a point with the Patriots where when you go
- 21:32Speaker 1: into the Buffalo game, you see a similar kind of
- 21:35Speaker 1: you know, aggressive mindset of of how we're going to
- 21:38Speaker 1: go after that team to beat them, because it's going
- 21:40Speaker 1: to take sixty minutes, just like it used to take
- 21:42Speaker 1: to beat the Patriots. All right, eight five five Pats
- 21:45Speaker 1: five Hundred's the eighth ticket hutline web radio at Patriots
- 21:48Speaker 1: dot com. Just a reminder, Evan will be back from practice.
- 21:51Speaker 1: What time, Probably around twelve forties practice, so probably after
- 21:55Speaker 1: lunch and probably want to want to share top of
- 21:57Speaker 1: the air and then we've got picks later on. So
- 22:00Speaker 1: in the meantime, let's hear what you have to say,
- 22:02Speaker 1: both on the phone and email. Will start with the
- 22:05Speaker 1: ACE ticket outline. Eldred's in North Carolina. What's up, Eldred? Aldred? Mike, Hey, Hey, Hey,
- 22:16Speaker 1: I missed the good old days when when we used
- 22:18Speaker 1: to argue, but lately seen to be agreeing a lot lately.
- 22:21Speaker 1: And I'm like, during Paul, what you do you know,
- 22:23Speaker 1: switch on me or what? Yeah, I can argue with
- 22:26Speaker 1: that anyone, you know that Well now you're both negative. Yeah,
- 22:31Speaker 1: but like I don't like the tone of that A
- 22:33Speaker 1: little that A little that third yesterday with you and
- 22:35Speaker 1: Evan and I try to get on with Evan because
- 22:39Speaker 1: a couple about a month so ago, when we first
- 22:41Speaker 1: started to see I kept throwing up to the office coordinator.
- 22:46Speaker 1: He kept it's not that plays it got better, just
- 22:49Speaker 1: snip Mac, this guy does do that. Yesterday he's more like,
- 22:52Speaker 1: well he he had offered the coordinator, he offered the
- 22:55Speaker 1: line and that you know, you know, he knocked off cool.
- 22:58Speaker 1: But like I said, Matt couldn't beat two out and
- 23:01Speaker 1: he barely beat out Bryce Young. You know everybody knew
- 23:05Speaker 1: death death death. Well yeah, but that's all. That's all
- 23:08Speaker 1: in the past now, though, Eldred, because like it doesn't
- 23:12Speaker 1: matter what happened at Alabama. It's gonna it's gonna be
- 23:16Speaker 1: judged now on what happens in the NFL. And I
- 23:19Speaker 1: think the part that bugs me about the Mac Jones
- 23:22Speaker 1: analysis is exactly what what Eldred just said. I think
- 23:26Speaker 1: there is not enough actual analysis of how Mac is playing,
- 23:31Speaker 1: and there's too much focus on all the other external factors.
- 23:33Speaker 1: And this is exactly how I thought it was going
- 23:35Speaker 1: to unfold all offseason, Like, yeah, you know, Matt Patricia
- 23:40Speaker 1: was in a no win situation. I'm not trying to
- 23:41Speaker 1: defend Matt Patricia. You guys, my feelings on their plan
- 23:45Speaker 1: are well known. But I mean I don't know is
- 23:48Speaker 1: every time a play doesn't work, is it because they
- 23:51Speaker 1: have no scheme, they have no play design. The game
- 23:54Speaker 1: plan is bad? Like no, Sometimes the quarterback has to
- 23:57Speaker 1: make a play and all the all these interceptions aren't
- 24:00Speaker 1: Matt Patricia's fault. I just have to look at it
- 24:03Speaker 1: a little bit more, you know, fairly yep. But the
- 24:07Speaker 1: part I want to argue Evans about it. I brought
- 24:09Speaker 1: that up the first part of the season and he
- 24:12Speaker 1: shot me down. That's what he does. That's why I
- 24:17Speaker 1: got so excited yesterday. He was yelling at speed it's great. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 24:22Speaker 1: that was great though. Boys all growns up. But Allen
- 24:26Speaker 1: gre Is he's not a Josh. He's not a Alan Or.
- 24:31Speaker 1: But he's more like that guy from New Orleans. He'll
- 24:34Speaker 1: run you a bet over. Yeah, Taysom Hill. So that's
- 24:36Speaker 1: what you gotta worry about. Yeah, Takesom you gotta worry
- 24:38Speaker 1: about dead. But I hope. I think it's better to
- 24:41Speaker 1: get a better line. And I don't have to go.
- 24:43Speaker 1: And I just wanted to say that because I want
- 24:45Speaker 1: to argue with He'll be by later by Yeah, all right,
- 24:47Speaker 1: thanks Aldred. Yeah. I mean, I don't want to speak
- 24:49Speaker 1: for Evan, but I mean I do think early in
- 24:51Speaker 1: the season you were kind of waiting for a sample size.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I mean, we spent all summer watching wide zone and
- 24:56Speaker 1: that kind of stuff, and it would seem that, all right,
- 24:58Speaker 1: they're putting in some changes. And I mean I think
- 25:00Speaker 1: now at this point you have enough of a sample
- 25:02Speaker 1: size that now you can start to say, all right,
- 25:05Speaker 1: this is what they have been on offense. And but
- 25:07Speaker 1: I mean with all the changes at quarterback, and you know,
- 25:10Speaker 1: I think he's certainly intrigued by the RPO stuff, so
- 25:12Speaker 1: I think that that might maybe change it a little
- 25:14Speaker 1: bit if they start doing more of that stuff for him.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Let's go to Eric in New Jersey. What's Eric what's up? Eric? Hey?
- 25:22Speaker 1: How you guys? But hey, dude, uh, Like, I'm glad
- 25:26Speaker 1: Andy came on the show yesterday and kind of, you know,
- 25:30Speaker 1: given the sentiment on Jacoby, like I love Jacoby, the
- 25:33Speaker 1: story about him, everything, you know, everything about the player.
- 25:36Speaker 1: You know, it seems like a good guy off the
- 25:37Speaker 1: field as well. Um, but the offense is not going
- 25:40Speaker 1: to take that next level. That's your go to guy,
- 25:44Speaker 1: you know. I don't understand why they don't use, you know,
- 25:46Speaker 1: try to implement Tai Kwon. Maybe Tai Kwon thrown into
- 25:50Speaker 1: a little bit more of those roles, like even the
- 25:52Speaker 1: play when they're backed up on their goal lines and
- 25:54Speaker 1: they threw that out, you know whatever, the quick screen
- 25:56Speaker 1: right there to Jacoby and no Sauce Gardner came up
- 25:59Speaker 1: and made that play, Like why wouldn't you give it
- 26:01Speaker 1: to your more dynamic player? You know, I love Kobe,
- 26:04Speaker 1: but he's not separating. I mean, he could break up
- 26:06Speaker 1: with his girlfriend and she wouldn't missed him. Like, he
- 26:08Speaker 1: just doesn't He doesn't do anything, you know with the ball,
- 26:11Speaker 1: you know, with the ball in his hands. You know,
- 26:12Speaker 1: but you'll kind of get your feetback on that guy. Yeah,
- 26:16Speaker 1: I mean I just I just disagree. I mean, I
- 26:18Speaker 1: get like that's kind of been the that's been the
- 26:21Speaker 1: thing with Jakobe Myers. What people have talked about is that, yeah,
- 26:24Speaker 1: he catches a lot of balls, but he doesn't really
- 26:25Speaker 1: move the needle. I just think his production with all
- 26:29Speaker 1: the different quarterbacks that he had over these four years,
- 26:31Speaker 1: he's a good NFL receiver. Like and right now, I
- 26:35Speaker 1: don't know how many guys you can say on the
- 26:36Speaker 1: Patriots that they are good NFL receivers, especially in this
- 26:39Speaker 1: system where they're productive press. He doesn't have to be
- 26:42Speaker 1: you know, the dynamic number one A and just be like,
- 26:46Speaker 1: there's a place on the roster for guys like this.
- 26:48Speaker 1: And if I'm making a team, a guy like Jakobe
- 26:51Speaker 1: Myers can play on my team all the time. I
- 26:52Speaker 1: don't care if he's a two or three, or four
- 26:54Speaker 1: or five whatever I agree with. He catches balls, he
- 26:56Speaker 1: gets open, and you know, separation explodes. Take all that
- 27:00Speaker 1: stuff and chuck it like he has a spot for me. Well, yeah,
- 27:03Speaker 1: I don't think anybody's taking his spot away. Andy's point
- 27:06Speaker 1: yesterday was if he's the best that you have, you're
- 27:08Speaker 1: not good enough. No one's taking a spot point. I
- 27:11Speaker 1: agree with that point. I thought he was just saying
- 27:12Speaker 1: whatever with him like no, no, no, no, I'm a
- 27:15Speaker 1: thought like you guys know me, I'm a thousand percent on.
- 27:19Speaker 1: He just doesn't think he's that right now, A true
- 27:22Speaker 1: number one. That was Eric right that that just he
- 27:25Speaker 1: just got like the only thing I would say, like, so,
- 27:29Speaker 1: what have you seen from tayk First of all, I
- 27:30Speaker 1: think they've incorporated Taekwon Thornton plenty. I think he plays
- 27:33Speaker 1: a lot, and I think he's gotten some opportunities here
- 27:35Speaker 1: and there, um and I think that's building. But what
- 27:38Speaker 1: have you seen from him to indicate that you should
- 27:40Speaker 1: throw a screen to him because he's dynamic with the
- 27:42Speaker 1: ball in his hands. I haven't seen any of that. No,
- 27:45Speaker 1: he had that one play in Cleveland, he had a
- 27:49Speaker 1: couple of ender rounds that he was untouched. Yeah, well,
- 27:52Speaker 1: I mean this one way he could have, but he
- 27:54Speaker 1: just simply outrun ran everybody. But there was nobody there
- 27:57Speaker 1: on a screen like with Sauce Gardner in his face.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Way that play was like, because he's fast, that doesn't
- 28:03Speaker 1: do anything for you. He has to break tackles, make
- 28:06Speaker 1: guys miss, and I don't I'm not telling you he
- 28:08Speaker 1: can't do that. I'm just saying I haven't seen him
- 28:10Speaker 1: for he put in that situation yet, now, Like why
- 28:12Speaker 1: do I know that? And I think they should. I mean,
- 28:14Speaker 1: I think that's a good play for him as a
- 28:15Speaker 1: guy who can build up space and if they can
- 28:17Speaker 1: block it, he can break it. Here's the thing, if
- 28:19Speaker 1: you have him on a screen, is that requiring Sauce
- 28:23Speaker 1: Gardner to play off of him because she's worried about
- 28:26Speaker 1: him running by him where he's not playing off with
- 28:28Speaker 1: Jacoby Myers. That's an argument I could get with. Yeah,
- 28:31Speaker 1: Like I can get I can understand that line of thought,
- 28:34Speaker 1: like he's going to command more respect because of his
- 28:37Speaker 1: deep speed. But I just I still look at him
- 28:40Speaker 1: as like he's small and I just look every time
- 28:43Speaker 1: I see him in traffic, I feel like he's going
- 28:45Speaker 1: to break. He too, And there's been too much of him,
- 28:47Speaker 1: like and that's been too much of his career so far,
- 28:49Speaker 1: is catching balls in traffic, blocking down on the line.
- 28:52Speaker 1: I mean, just I want to see more of him,
- 28:54Speaker 1: And I mean this is probably to Eric's point in
- 28:57Speaker 1: space and hit him, hitting him on that quick slant
- 28:59Speaker 1: that they try to hit a parkern On the first
- 29:02Speaker 1: play of every game. Try that with him, you know, like,
- 29:04Speaker 1: get him in open space, cool it with the stuff
- 29:08Speaker 1: underneath with him. I just but I agree with the
- 29:10Speaker 1: general point. You got to get him involved. Absolutely, I
- 29:12Speaker 1: would ever continue to keep him growing. I don't want
- 29:16Speaker 1: to see him stagnate. I want to see him be
- 29:18Speaker 1: one of the guys that that really starts. But I
- 29:19Speaker 1: just wanted to defend the big head a little bit
- 29:22Speaker 1: because his point was if it's the best that you have,
- 29:25Speaker 1: you're probably not good nuts with the whole soup thing came.
- 29:28Speaker 1: I answered the question I thought I was asked, not
- 29:30Speaker 1: the question that actually was asked. M John has a
- 29:33Speaker 1: warning for us on the web radio picture. We should
- 29:36Speaker 1: get a lot, we should get a lot of one
- 29:37Speaker 1: he plays. He says, please discuss the Colts. Don't overlook
- 29:41Speaker 1: the next opponent. So he just wants to make sure
- 29:44Speaker 1: you know we can. We gotta stay I for one,
- 29:47Speaker 1: him not overlooking the Colts. I was I learned. I
- 29:50Speaker 1: learned my lesson taught to me by one Fred Kirch.
- 29:53Speaker 1: And I'm not being at all ironical sarcastic. I do
- 29:57Speaker 1: not overlook the opponents. I only had one on the
- 29:59Speaker 1: schedule that I overlooked and I got burned by it. Chicago. Yeah,
- 30:02Speaker 1: we are not penciling in wins here. No, No, especially
- 30:05Speaker 1: after last year with the Colts. Did I know it's
- 30:07Speaker 1: a different team, but but they took it. You know,
- 30:09Speaker 1: they play if Jonathan Taylor plays, don't tell me that
- 30:12Speaker 1: that can't happen again, right, Like, if he's reasonably healthy. Now,
- 30:16Speaker 1: if he can't run and he can't play, that's different,
- 30:19Speaker 1: But don't tell me that he can't run the ball
- 30:22Speaker 1: twenty five times and end up with one hundred and
- 30:24Speaker 1: fifty yards? Right? Is there no temporary coordinator offensive coordinator?
- 30:28Speaker 1: I'm not sure that that's kind of irrelevant too, because
- 30:31Speaker 1: Frank Miller calls the place. Okay, it's so right, This
- 30:35Speaker 1: is like that's another or se thing to me. That's funny.
- 30:40Speaker 1: So what are they fire him for? You? Right? He's
- 30:43Speaker 1: not coming up with good plans? Yeah, I don't know.
- 30:45Speaker 1: He's not holding the wire right of all the talking,
- 30:48Speaker 1: like the mechanism here, it's like, what is it there?
- 30:52Speaker 1: Mike's and Puerto Rico, Hey, Mike, Hey, guys, how y'all
- 30:55Speaker 1: doing good? Um today? Yeah? Be here later? Okay, I
- 31:03Speaker 1: just want to address. I know I mentioned a couple
- 31:05Speaker 1: of points yesterday, dudes and and Paul on Van he
- 31:12Speaker 1: made a comment that really suck in my craw yesterday
- 31:15Speaker 1: saying that he didn't know why people were so bothered
- 31:18Speaker 1: about the Fix six that came back because of the
- 31:21Speaker 1: flag report unfold. The play actually never happened. And so
- 31:27Speaker 1: my retort to that would be, so, if your girlfriend,
- 31:32Speaker 1: Beyonce White, he's blirting with another guy, you really shouldn't
- 31:37Speaker 1: get bothered because if she's going home with you, she
- 31:40Speaker 1: went home with you. Typ a situation. I mean, I'm
- 31:44Speaker 1: not sure that it's an apples to apples comparison, but
- 31:49Speaker 1: it did register with me when he said that the
- 31:52Speaker 1: play never actually happened. It did happen, did happen? It
- 31:55Speaker 1: did happen. Didn't make it right? The play like it
- 32:00Speaker 1: was passing an afference on the planet right. It's not
- 32:02Speaker 1: like Myers got hell right exactly? Why, you know, I
- 32:05Speaker 1: mean through the ball like I I mean, I'm with
- 32:08Speaker 1: the collar in this one that that place, and I
- 32:09Speaker 1: don't and I said the beginning of the week, and
- 32:12Speaker 1: I'm no more or less convinced. I have no idea
- 32:15Speaker 1: who was at fault. I just know that they've talked
- 32:17Speaker 1: about a communication issue, but the play happened. The play happened.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Like if you don't want to blame Mac, that's fine,
- 32:22Speaker 1: you don't have to blame Mac. But I can't pretend
- 32:24Speaker 1: it didn't happen, and it was a very fortunate reversal.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I can't. I can't argue with that. I am guilty
- 32:33Speaker 1: of tonality problems. We do that with fumbles a lot too.
- 32:36Speaker 1: If they're recovered by the same team, you know, it's like, well,
- 32:39Speaker 1: at least you recover. He still fumbles. The stip sack
- 32:43Speaker 1: doesn't become a better play because Cole Strange recovered, right.
- 32:46Speaker 1: And I think it's a context of the situation where
- 32:48Speaker 1: he's been throwing balls like that all season long, and
- 32:50Speaker 1: it was just another one. Like if it had not
- 32:52Speaker 1: been happening a lot, you'd probably be willing to overlook it,
- 32:54Speaker 1: like he said, but like that's what they've been doing,
- 32:56Speaker 1: and you're talking about his best receiver. They're not on
- 32:59Speaker 1: the same page. It's the middle of October, so I
- 33:01Speaker 1: think that that's at least if it's not an indictment
- 33:03Speaker 1: on Mac Jacobe, it's you know, the chemistry then we
- 33:07Speaker 1: can we just making an indictment of the offense that
- 33:09Speaker 1: hasn't been able to protect the ball all year, and
- 33:12Speaker 1: even though they only gave it away once in that game,
- 33:14Speaker 1: we've illustrated there was a very good chance and they
- 33:17Speaker 1: could have had four. Yeah. See, you know we we
- 33:20Speaker 1: see even the greatest quarter makes quarterbacks make really dumb
- 33:23Speaker 1: passes like that. We saw Aaron Rodgers in the game
- 33:26Speaker 1: that we just played them, and you know, Brady's made
- 33:29Speaker 1: him BLEDSOE made him. You know, they all make him,
- 33:31Speaker 1: but then they also make the other place to make
- 33:33Speaker 1: up for it, so you forget about that play. Max's
- 33:36Speaker 1: not doing that right now. Forgot to tell you that. Yeah.
- 33:39Speaker 1: I got to see Drew on Tuesday. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 33:42Speaker 1: I was walking I was walking out. He was coming in.
- 33:45Speaker 1: What's he doing? Say? So, I don't know I did.
- 33:47Speaker 1: I talked to him for a quick second. Sure, not
- 33:49Speaker 1: sure he remembered me. But that's okay. I remembered him,
- 33:52Speaker 1: he remember, I'm not I'm not sure. Zoe told us
- 33:58Speaker 1: he was coming and I guess him and he's coming,
- 34:00Speaker 1: he's coming him and him and man do something and uh,
- 34:04Speaker 1: Zoe was waiting for him out front. I left, and
- 34:06Speaker 1: you know, I was talking to Zoe and then Drew
- 34:08Speaker 1: comes walking across the broad Here is, hey, how are
- 34:10Speaker 1: you telling? He shakes my hand, and I was like,
- 34:12Speaker 1: I'm thinking to myself, Yeah, I bet you I could
- 34:14Speaker 1: win one hundred bucks by asking him what my name is?
- 34:16Speaker 1: Right now? How you doing? Yeah? Yeah, I got one
- 34:20Speaker 1: of those. Are you kidding? Paul? Of course I know
- 34:22Speaker 1: you you're my biggest fan. He should know that that
- 34:25Speaker 1: that the restraining order shouldn't have that name. And legally
- 34:28Speaker 1: I'm not allowed within ten feet of you. But Williams
- 34:31Speaker 1: and philam, what's up? William? What's going on? How you
- 34:34Speaker 1: doing that? Good? All right? Two questions? Just you fan,
- 34:38Speaker 1: no matter fact, No one is not a question. Matt
- 34:42Speaker 1: just need to calm down with these inter sets from
- 34:44Speaker 1: him throwing the ball, you know, to the other teams
- 34:46Speaker 1: when I has to knock something at all. I know
- 34:49Speaker 1: it all ain't on him, but some of that is
- 34:51Speaker 1: going him. You got to stop that. He looks dumb
- 34:54Speaker 1: doing that. I just I gets you don't trust offensive mine,
- 34:58Speaker 1: but he got to stop doing that. And last and
- 35:01Speaker 1: not least, Okay, So this one's football FAUL for twenty
- 35:04Speaker 1: twenty one, we had uh, let me get it right,
- 35:07Speaker 1: Nelson Maguiel and kenjiy Bourne to Kobe Meyers and to
- 35:11Speaker 1: kill Harry correct. Yeah, yeah last year okay Gunner Okay, right.
- 35:16Speaker 1: So in twenty twenty two, so we Jonte Parker yea,
- 35:20Speaker 1: and we also drafted twy KWin Thorn, but we got
- 35:24Speaker 1: Riddim to kill Harry correct correct? Correct? Okay? We did?
- 35:29Speaker 1: Did we get better? We should have gotten better? In
- 35:32Speaker 1: my weekend, they did, they got But but I mean
- 35:35Speaker 1: Parkers has already given you. I mean, even though he
- 35:37Speaker 1: hasn't been a huge impact, he's already given you more
- 35:40Speaker 1: than Harry did. Yeah, and you've gotten yeah, and simply
- 35:45Speaker 1: the intrigue. That's why. Like I'll say it again, I said, yes,
- 35:49Speaker 1: I'm at a loss as to why they're not better.
- 35:53Speaker 1: The problem is we've seen it since the summer that
- 35:56Speaker 1: there's something wrong with this offense. It's just not clicking.
- 36:00Speaker 1: I believe they've got the pieces, but it's not clicking.
- 36:05Speaker 1: And last, last, but not um, can we please see
- 36:09Speaker 1: what four two week speed look like. I'm dying to
- 36:11Speaker 1: see what this dude can do so bad? A Yeah,
- 36:18Speaker 1: am I the only one that watches the games in
- 36:20Speaker 1: season play, I know, but like they throw a bomb
- 36:23Speaker 1: to him like every week. They they didn't last week,
- 36:26Speaker 1: Well they didn't last week because they were getting killed,
- 36:28Speaker 1: but they did the week before right right down the sideline,
- 36:32Speaker 1: right in front of the Patriots bench. Yeah, yes, deep,
- 36:37Speaker 1: that was a deep ball that Mac just missed them
- 36:40Speaker 1: because I think he got rushed just a little bit.
- 36:42Speaker 1: The protection has been an issue. The past protection has
- 36:45Speaker 1: been an issue. It's why a couple of weeks ago
- 36:47Speaker 1: I kind of pushed back, like, how much better is
- 36:49Speaker 1: the offensive line? Pin? Yeah, it was better than the
- 36:51Speaker 1: first week when they had guys that were completely untouched
- 36:54Speaker 1: come in. That hasn't happened, but I don't think the
- 36:57Speaker 1: past protection has been great. Yeah, and what is that
- 37:00Speaker 1: kill your dep shots? Right? Yeah? Your seventh step? Yeah yeah,
- 37:04Speaker 1: all right, thanks William H And I kind of liked it.
- 37:09Speaker 1: I think has been incorporated into the offense a little bit,
- 37:12Speaker 1: Like I like what. I think he's been involved more
- 37:15Speaker 1: than I thought he was going to be before the
- 37:16Speaker 1: season started. Certainly after he went on I R yeah,
- 37:19Speaker 1: so did I. And I don't mean this as a
- 37:21Speaker 1: shot at Josh, but I just wonder if if there
- 37:23Speaker 1: was an element of Josh had had the Willie's about
- 37:26Speaker 1: rookies a little bit like, I just wonder if that
- 37:28Speaker 1: was maybe somewhat of a Josh thing on younger guys.
- 37:31Speaker 1: So I'm not putting it on him. I'm just saying thing, Yeah,
- 37:34Speaker 1: maybe let's go to Todd North Carolina. Hey, Todd, Hey, guys,
- 37:39Speaker 1: just wondering if you could fix one of these two things,
- 37:43Speaker 1: the tackle situation or the run defense. But what would
- 37:47Speaker 1: you figure tack tack tackle, tackle, tackle, tackle, tackle, because
- 37:52Speaker 1: I think the run defense has moments where it's okay,
- 37:55Speaker 1: the tackle situation has been yeah, not good. You'll win
- 37:58Speaker 1: games if if you can't stop the run all that great.
- 38:01Speaker 1: You won't win games if you can't protect the quarterback
- 38:04Speaker 1: and you can't throw the ball. Yeah, so how long
- 38:07Speaker 1: but before we get one of our rookies back, the
- 38:09Speaker 1: guy that's on, the guy that's on the injury areas,
- 38:12Speaker 1: on our thing, because I think we need to. I
- 38:14Speaker 1: think we need to put something new in there for tackle,
- 38:16Speaker 1: because I can't see them. Even mister brown is is
- 38:20Speaker 1: missing his blocks and letting people buy him. It just
- 38:22Speaker 1: doesn't seem like it's a motivated or call. He's inconsistent.
- 38:25Speaker 1: He has some good games slash plays and others where
- 38:29Speaker 1: he takes it off. So, I mean, everybody's healthy. Now,
- 38:32Speaker 1: could Justice back? So, I mean, you know when I'm
- 38:35Speaker 1: not sure if he was. I don't think he was
- 38:37Speaker 1: on the report yesterday. Wayne is not on the Yeah.
- 38:39Speaker 1: And the guy they drafted, he wasn't a tackle right
- 38:42Speaker 1: uh h h Stuber was a right house Okay, but
- 38:49Speaker 1: he's hurt. Yeah, he's on NFI I believe. But he
- 38:52Speaker 1: also was a seventh round pick. He's not playing right, Yeah,
- 38:55Speaker 1: he's nothing, Okay, So I didn't say he's nothing. I
- 38:57Speaker 1: said he's not. He was the seventh round pick. He's
- 38:59Speaker 1: not going to play, Yeah, I don't. I mean he's
- 39:03Speaker 1: He's never even shooted up this year. David Andrews wasn't
- 39:05Speaker 1: even drafted. You never know, you never know. But he
- 39:09Speaker 1: didn't get He didn't miss the whole Thanks Todd. Why
- 39:12Speaker 1: what did people doing in the background while they're talking
- 39:15Speaker 1: to us, like rearranging their desk, multicast formulating you know, Uh,
- 39:23Speaker 1: he's back from yesterday. He did not get discouraged. It's
- 39:26Speaker 1: spiing Fresno. What's up, speed chicken? You call in when
- 39:31Speaker 1: Evan's not here, I get smacked around again like you
- 39:34Speaker 1: did yesterday. You know, we're too busy packing for a
- 39:40Speaker 1: fifth anniversary trip though, of court. I had to make
- 39:42Speaker 1: the call before he got there. Nice where you going,
- 39:44Speaker 1: congrat I do want to tattle on him. I do
- 39:47Speaker 1: want to tattle on him a little bit. That's okay,
- 39:49Speaker 1: that's a big boy. His show. I listened to his
- 39:53Speaker 1: show and he was I think they just basically he
- 39:57Speaker 1: has no respect for the quarterback position. I think he
- 39:59Speaker 1: based he thinks of it like build es Um like
- 40:04Speaker 1: he he doesn't he They had this type of this
- 40:07Speaker 1: concept they were banning about. They call it neutral quarterbacks.
- 40:10Speaker 1: They basically think that now is the era of the
- 40:12Speaker 1: game manager um and uh. I mean, maybe I'm putting
- 40:16Speaker 1: up a strong man version of it, but I would
- 40:17Speaker 1: like to I'd like to hear Paul because I think
- 40:19Speaker 1: eventually Paul is going to have a total blow up
- 40:21Speaker 1: at Evan. It's gonna be great. But you guys can
- 40:27Speaker 1: team me up if you want. If that's what you're
- 40:28Speaker 1: looking for. I give the people what they want. I mean,
- 40:33Speaker 1: I was like, okay, how many what are the quarterback
- 40:36Speaker 1: that have won you as title in the past decade,
- 40:39Speaker 1: and you know, I mean, yeah, maybe you look at
- 40:41Speaker 1: Nick Foles, he's a bit of a schlub, but that
- 40:42Speaker 1: was a little bit of an asteriska if you go
- 40:44Speaker 1: if you go back, you have Josh Allen, you don't
- 40:47Speaker 1: have Mahomes, and you don't have a great quarterback. But
- 40:49Speaker 1: you want your quarterback to be a gaming But I
- 40:51Speaker 1: would argue, I would argue on speees behind like I
- 40:55Speaker 1: would agree. I think if you look at the last
- 40:56Speaker 1: twenty twenty five years, there are outliers, but for the
- 41:00Speaker 1: most part, the Super Bowl winning quarterback is widely considered
- 41:05Speaker 1: to be one of the best quarterbacks in football. Yeah,
- 41:07Speaker 1: and and and that's just not I don't think that's
- 41:09Speaker 1: that's how they look at They look they live in
- 41:11Speaker 1: an alternate universe where where the quarterback. I don't I
- 41:14Speaker 1: don't think they think the quarterback matters as much. And
- 41:16Speaker 1: I want Evan to get the chance to push back
- 41:18Speaker 1: against that, but I think that that might maybe what
- 41:21Speaker 1: he really what he really feels. Yeah, yeah, I don't
- 41:26Speaker 1: like I've I've never heard Evan say anything like that
- 41:28Speaker 1: to defend him a little bit, I know, And that's
- 41:30Speaker 1: why I think history his argument was a little like
- 41:32Speaker 1: he came out hot on that and I was a
- 41:33Speaker 1: little bit surprised of that that he was that he
- 41:37Speaker 1: was just so. And when I say weapons, I kind
- 41:39Speaker 1: of include the offensive coordinator and that because I feel
- 41:41Speaker 1: like an offensive coordinator in some ways as part of
- 41:43Speaker 1: that operation. And I mean, I think that was what
- 41:45Speaker 1: the gist of the argument was. I think, I mean
- 41:47Speaker 1: Speece the way Speace saying it, I I agree, I mean,
- 41:50Speaker 1: it just does like it doesn't matter. It is Matt
- 41:51Speaker 1: good enough that if you gave him the weapons, would
- 41:53Speaker 1: he be great? I don't still and I don't know.
- 41:58Speaker 1: And that was where I think they kind of got
- 42:01Speaker 1: spun when spe went to the two angle. And that's
- 42:03Speaker 1: when when Evan really help bristles um, which is which
- 42:08Speaker 1: is why I had to get involved at that point,
- 42:09Speaker 1: because now we got now we got now we got conflict.
- 42:12Speaker 1: I had to get in. I couldn't just let that
- 42:14Speaker 1: there was there was one thing. And this is kind
- 42:16Speaker 1: of where I think the most conflict could be brought
- 42:18Speaker 1: about if you bring the net neutral quarterback idea. When
- 42:21Speaker 1: I when I lifted off the quarterbacks for the past
- 42:23Speaker 1: secred from what Russell Wilson says, you know, Matt Stafford,
- 42:26Speaker 1: I was like, these guys are not neutral game managers. Um.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Evan's response I only heard afterwards when I listened back,
- 42:34Speaker 1: but he was basically like, yeah, that's that's there can
- 42:37Speaker 1: only be one like he staided with the tonality with
- 42:40Speaker 1: the all twenty two tones, Um like, please please don't please,
- 42:46Speaker 1: don't pretend it's not there can only be one winner,
- 42:50Speaker 1: you know, Paul, I think I'm on your side. I
- 42:53Speaker 1: think the all twenty twos are a little bit woke
- 42:55Speaker 1: for me. Yeah, And that was another one that was
- 42:59Speaker 1: sort of like they're woken wonk taken in a different direction,
- 43:02Speaker 1: like like I don't like all twenty tours. No, all
- 43:05Speaker 1: twenty tours don't like me. This is a huge difference.
- 43:08Speaker 1: Watch the tape. Watch the tape. Then you'd know. And
- 43:11Speaker 1: if you don't, well, Mike, why am I wasting my
- 43:16Speaker 1: time talking to you? You didn't even know. You didn't
- 43:19Speaker 1: even watch the tape. If you watch the tape, you'd know.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Quarterbacks don't matter. Just get Tyreek Hill. Neutral quarterbacks. Yeah,
- 43:29Speaker 1: a quarterback that hurts you, But I'd rather have a
- 43:31Speaker 1: quarterback that's a plus. But I mean, I just look at.
- 43:34Speaker 1: I mean, if you go back, you know, and like
- 43:39Speaker 1: I said, they're always outliers. There's a Brad Johnson, there's
- 43:42Speaker 1: a Trent Dilf. You know, those are the the actual
- 43:45Speaker 1: quarterbacks of their team. Like I don't really even count
- 43:47Speaker 1: Nick Foles because the Eagles don't go to the super
- 43:50Speaker 1: Bowl if Nick Foles was their quarterback all yet, it's
- 43:52Speaker 1: like Jeff Hostetler. Yeah, they won the actual game with
- 43:55Speaker 1: that guy, but they wouldn't have been in that game
- 43:57Speaker 1: with that guy, right right, you know, like if Carson
- 44:00Speaker 1: Wentz didn't play at an MVP level in twenty seventeen,
- 44:03Speaker 1: the Eagles wouldn't have been to the super Bowl. And
- 44:05Speaker 1: that's like another level of it too, is I think
- 44:07Speaker 1: there's also a category of guys that just played awesome
- 44:10Speaker 1: in January, just Eli Manning just played awesome. Joe Flack
- 44:13Speaker 1: got in. I would say, my guy Flacco, who I
- 44:16Speaker 1: always like more than most. Yeah, he's the guy that
- 44:19Speaker 1: was an average quarterback who got hot that that year
- 44:23Speaker 1: and I think he had something like thirteen touchdowns note picks. Yeah,
- 44:26Speaker 1: I'll wire, well, you saw the Patriots play. It's like
- 44:29Speaker 1: the Titans. He never went all with Ryan he never
- 44:31Speaker 1: did again. Yeah, and I would say no, yeah. We
- 44:33Speaker 1: saw the Patriots play so many playoff games, and those
- 44:36Speaker 1: games popped up a few times who were like, how
- 44:38Speaker 1: the hell are we losing to this guy? But it's
- 44:39Speaker 1: just sometimes those guys, oh like Mark Sanchez, Mark Sanchez,
- 44:42Speaker 1: you know, some like every now and then some random
- 44:45Speaker 1: playoff quarterback had the game of his life, you know,
- 44:47Speaker 1: and Eli Manning did it twice. Well, we're on video
- 44:52Speaker 1: today so everyone can see what I'm about to say.
- 44:55Speaker 1: But Evan, you just misspeak. But Evan done, all right, Evan,
- 45:13Speaker 1: give us the four one one, Okay, I think I'm on.
- 45:19Speaker 1: There we go, There we go. So same attendance, says yesterday.
- 45:24Speaker 1: But Marcus Cannon also not present for the start of
- 45:28Speaker 1: Patriots practice today. So David Andrews, Damien Harris, DeVante Parker,
- 45:33Speaker 1: and Marcus Cannon missing. We did not know why Marcus
- 45:37Speaker 1: Cannon is missing. Of course we'll find out in a
- 45:40Speaker 1: few hours. But Isaiah Wynn Yadney could just starting right
- 45:46Speaker 1: tackle on Sunday. We're hoping back and tell us at
- 45:50Speaker 1: least David Andrews he is not. No, I mean yeah,
- 45:55Speaker 1: it hurts because he's he's a guy, But also I'm like,
- 45:57Speaker 1: you kind of hurt me a lot, So I don't know.
- 45:59Speaker 1: Maybe maybe maybe it's like one of those things where
- 46:01Speaker 1: this is one of those injuries where I guess we
- 46:03Speaker 1: just have to give you, Adney Cold just a chance
- 46:05Speaker 1: and maybe it works out. But I mean, I just
- 46:08Speaker 1: I find hard suddenly becomes one of those no one
- 46:10Speaker 1: thought we could do it wins And then we go
- 46:12Speaker 1: into the by and it's right, all right, we found
- 46:15Speaker 1: cod just I mean, he's playing out of his mind.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Got block Marcus Cannon last week allowed eight hurry, so
- 46:21Speaker 1: it's like, how do you take that guy out of
- 46:23Speaker 1: the lineup? And now he'd be like, well, I mean,
- 46:25Speaker 1: how much worse can it get? No matter like that
- 46:27Speaker 1: would be somebody else in there. That would be my argument.
- 46:29Speaker 1: It would be deemed to be negative somehow, I don't
- 46:32Speaker 1: you know. And he got mad hit as he threw
- 46:36Speaker 1: on the interception, so a turnover basically a direct result
- 46:40Speaker 1: of Marcus Cannon's play as well. He's a sixth offensive
- 46:42Speaker 1: lineman at this stage. Yeah, and and everybody's like, you know,
- 46:45Speaker 1: why didn't they've trade win? Well, that's kind of why,
- 46:48Speaker 1: because they know they need the depth, right, you know, yeah,
- 46:50Speaker 1: that's a great point. Like all of a sudden, now
- 46:52Speaker 1: you're like, screw given Godney could just a chance. It's like,
- 46:56Speaker 1: please save Buzzy. Now. We talked about the injury report
- 46:58Speaker 1: a little bit of before you came back. I'd he
- 47:00Speaker 1: was back out there. He was not injury related, but
- 47:03Speaker 1: he was. He was. Yeah, he was out there yesterday
- 47:05Speaker 1: and a lot of people when he was walking through
- 47:07Speaker 1: the locker room during open locker room, we're giving him
- 47:09Speaker 1: a hard time. Two interceptions. You don't have to practice anymore,
- 47:13Speaker 1: that sort of thing. So veteran rest for Devin mccordy Insterdam.
- 47:17Speaker 1: I like how all the other teams call it, you know,
- 47:20Speaker 1: veteran rest and we just say not injury related about it.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Outside the shells and shells yeah, no, no lower pads, no,
- 47:28Speaker 1: no big shoulder pads today just the light shoulder pads.
- 47:32Speaker 1: And without Andrews. There was the mood down a little
- 47:35Speaker 1: because you know, it was a quick stretching only today
- 47:40Speaker 1: after we got a little bit of an extended look yesterday.
- 47:42Speaker 1: So with these quick ones, the mood is very efficient, right,
- 47:46Speaker 1: Like we gotta take attendance, We got to take our
- 47:48Speaker 1: picture and we got to get out of there, like
- 47:50Speaker 1: didn't learn anything. Yeah yeah, still layered up. It's like
- 47:53Speaker 1: seventy five out there. Oh yeah, you know he wanted
- 47:56Speaker 1: to grab I brought the move down, yesterom sweat. It's
- 47:58Speaker 1: another great I'm thirsty. Yesterday, Josh j was making fun
- 48:02Speaker 1: of me for always wearing Grace hoodies and and and
- 48:07Speaker 1: we say they don't notice. They notice everything. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 48:11Speaker 1: why don't you worry less about what I'm wearing. I'm
- 48:13Speaker 1: more about getting off the quarterback. Oh this guy, you
- 48:16Speaker 1: are no longer you are no longer sneaky negative. So
- 48:20Speaker 1: will they have the gray pants for this game? I
- 48:22Speaker 1: don't know, Fred, that's a question for you. Yeah, I
- 48:25Speaker 1: don't know. Well, oh that that's not another like uniform
- 48:27Speaker 1: combo that has to be aced for good because they lost.
- 48:31Speaker 1: I think the rule is you lose two in a
- 48:32Speaker 1: row in him? Right? Is that it? I can't remember who,
- 48:36Speaker 1: but that that was actually a Burgin the Deer and
- 48:39Speaker 1: call to wear the silver pants. Yes, Burge was the
- 48:42Speaker 1: one that recommended it, apparently, and that's why they wore
- 48:45Speaker 1: the silver pants. Yeah. I like it. I like it,
- 48:48Speaker 1: but I liked it with the helmet. I do agree
- 48:51Speaker 1: with that, though I don't think it matched. No, it
- 48:53Speaker 1: doesn't match. So we gotta don't want to help. You
- 48:57Speaker 1: gotta know subtle, I don't subtle shade the outfit, right, Yeah,
- 49:01Speaker 1: you know it's really hard to match purple for Holy Cross.
- 49:04Speaker 1: We always had a lot of trouble, like gloves, equipment,
- 49:07Speaker 1: pant like, you could never get shades right purple. Yeah,
- 49:11Speaker 1: tough to find, tough to find, yeah, y yeah. Story.
- 49:18Speaker 1: What else is anything else going on out there? No?
- 49:21Speaker 1: Not not much else going on. I think, like I said,
- 49:26Speaker 1: and like we, I think everybody in the room, I
- 49:28Speaker 1: think would support the fact that maybe it is time
- 49:30Speaker 1: to give Yadney could just a look at right tackle.
- 49:33Speaker 1: It can't be worse, right at least some some playing time,
- 49:36Speaker 1: you know, if you don't want to, like just line
- 49:37Speaker 1: him up and say he's my starter. He's gonna go
- 49:39Speaker 1: sixty five plays today, you know, get him get his
- 49:42Speaker 1: feet was he wasn't he getting I'm forgetting now? Was
- 49:45Speaker 1: he getting? Looking camp a little bit? Right? Got like
- 49:48Speaker 1: he got significant snaps in camp? I would say, I mean,
- 49:51Speaker 1: this is why this guy, this is why you've been
- 49:52Speaker 1: patient with this guy for three years, right because he's
- 49:55Speaker 1: got talent, and I think the number one thing that
- 49:57Speaker 1: he has over a guy like Cannon is he's got athleticism.
- 50:00Speaker 1: He can move his field legs. He really does have that,
- 50:03Speaker 1: and so that was the calling Car coming out of
- 50:06Speaker 1: West Virginia. Was a really good pass protector, somebody that
- 50:09Speaker 1: kept Will Greer clean throughout his career at West Virginia.
- 50:13Speaker 1: And why he put up such great numbers in that offense.
- 50:15Speaker 1: A lot of it was protection, and Janney could just
- 50:17Speaker 1: on the blind side or on his right side earlier
- 50:20Speaker 1: on in his career at West Virginia, then he flipped
- 50:22Speaker 1: over to left tackle was a big part of that.
- 50:25Speaker 1: So I would love to see them give him a chance.
- 50:27Speaker 1: I just remember, I think it was like twenty twenty.
- 50:29Speaker 1: He was briefly practicing, and I remember Josh going Yanney
- 50:33Speaker 1: at some point the light has to come on and
- 50:36Speaker 1: stay on. That mean Josh McDaniels again, cause of all
- 50:41Speaker 1: the problem he hadn't yelled at him, he probably already
- 50:43Speaker 1: be in the Pro Bowl. So concerned level with Damien Harris,
- 50:48Speaker 1: it's an illness. He'd be illen Um, I don't know,
- 50:54Speaker 1: I guess, I guess I'm so unamored with with Rumandre
- 50:57Speaker 1: right now, I don't really. I kind of see Harris
- 50:59Speaker 1: as like the B option, and oh I do too,
- 51:02Speaker 1: But don't you feel better about having the two of
- 51:04Speaker 1: them available? Yeah, so you don't get the yeah yeah,
- 51:08Speaker 1: but I'm also still flirting with I'd love to see
- 51:10Speaker 1: Pierre Strong or Harris get get a little more action.
- 51:12Speaker 1: I'd love to just see it. I'd love to see it.
- 51:15Speaker 1: He's I'm not as excited about that. I want to
- 51:17Speaker 1: set up for next year. I mean, I think this
- 51:19Speaker 1: sounds like, why are we giving up? I'm not giving up.
- 51:21Speaker 1: I'm just saying, you know, i'd like to I'd like
- 51:23Speaker 1: to know. I'd like to have a little you know.
- 51:27Speaker 1: I think Damien Harris is pretty good. Yeah, yeah, No,
- 51:30Speaker 1: I agree. I mean, I'm not gonna say I don't
- 51:32Speaker 1: want Damien Harris, but it's, you know, one week against
- 51:34Speaker 1: the Colts before the bye week. I think they'll be
- 51:37Speaker 1: all right if you can't go. The Colts have the
- 51:38Speaker 1: sixth rank run defense in the league. And I wasn't
- 51:40Speaker 1: suggesting that going to lose the game if Damian Harris
- 51:42Speaker 1: can't play in it. No, And that's how that wasn't
- 51:45Speaker 1: my inference. That's I think Romandre Stevenson is at his
- 51:48Speaker 1: best when he doesn't have to do it all by himself.
- 51:51Speaker 1: Now I think he did it all by himself. Yeah no,
- 51:54Speaker 1: but I mean he had he didn't have to play.
- 51:56Speaker 1: He didn't get the amount of carries that he got
- 51:57Speaker 1: in a Detroit game, and that was his best game.
- 52:00Speaker 1: You know, So that counter that's a counter argument for
- 52:03Speaker 1: what I just said. But I just I'm just thinking
- 52:05Speaker 1: about down the road. You don't you want to give
- 52:07Speaker 1: them some blows during the game. Well, that's I guess
- 52:09Speaker 1: I'm what I'm saying. I'm all in favor of Stevenson
- 52:14Speaker 1: as the number one guy, and then Harris fills in
- 52:16Speaker 1: when when Stevenson gives a little helmet tap I need.
- 52:19Speaker 1: Even if there's one thing on the part of the
- 52:21Speaker 1: Patriots that keeps them from winning on Sunday, what would
- 52:23Speaker 1: you say it is pass protection? Yeah? We all agree.
- 52:26Speaker 1: I mean this is a legitimate Colts defense affront the
- 52:29Speaker 1: Forrest Buckner, Grover Stewart. Just like Bill, I'm not going
- 52:32Speaker 1: to try to pronounce their edge rushers names, you know,
- 52:35Speaker 1: Yannick and Gockway is the one that I can get.
- 52:36Speaker 1: I mentioned that's the one that we can pronounce. QUITTI
- 52:38Speaker 1: pay that's another one that we can do. So, uh,
- 52:42Speaker 1: those guys are legit. I mean it's a legit rush.
- 52:45Speaker 1: It's not. They're twelfth in the league right now in
- 52:47Speaker 1: pressure rate, but they're getting it, getting pressure with four
- 52:50Speaker 1: because this is that Gus Bradley Seattle three system. They
- 52:53Speaker 1: don't blitz a lot, so they're getting pressure with four
- 52:56Speaker 1: guys pretty consistently, and interior pressure in particular with Buckner
- 53:01Speaker 1: and Stewart. I think Rover Stewart's one of the more
- 53:03Speaker 1: underrated players in the league. Doesn't get talked a lot
- 53:06Speaker 1: about because Buckner's next to him. But those two guys
- 53:09Speaker 1: inside are as good of a tandem as you're going
- 53:11Speaker 1: to face on the interior line all season long. And
- 53:13Speaker 1: I think the big thing that you saw with Cole
- 53:15Speaker 1: Strange and James Ferrens is not just block the block
- 53:19Speaker 1: technique and execution. They're undersized there with those two guys.
- 53:22Speaker 1: You know, they're already a little bit undersized with Andrews
- 53:25Speaker 1: and Cole Strange and James Ferrens is smaller than David
- 53:27Speaker 1: Andrews is, so that's gonna be a problem they're getting
- 53:31Speaker 1: the pocket collapsed on mac Jones and the interior pressure
- 53:35Speaker 1: not being able to run the football again, that's going
- 53:37Speaker 1: to be a significant problem for the offense this week.
- 53:40Speaker 1: And one of those guys that Evan just mentioned as
- 53:43Speaker 1: being a key part of that front, he didn't practice
- 53:45Speaker 1: to either, Grant Stewart pectoral injury, so I don't know
- 53:49Speaker 1: if that is a tornpeck, like I don't know what
- 53:52Speaker 1: that is, but he didn't practice yesterday either. So big
- 53:55Speaker 1: list of dnps for the coal The game is close
- 53:58Speaker 1: score wise, Well, the Patriots have more runs or passes runs,
- 54:06Speaker 1: I don't know. I think they'll probably have more runs out.
- 54:09Speaker 1: What do you think? What do you think the game
- 54:10Speaker 1: plan is? Can't be to run the ball unless Grover
- 54:16Speaker 1: stewarts out, then maybe I guess you have a little
- 54:19Speaker 1: bit more success. But the way they've been blocking the
- 54:21Speaker 1: last couple of weeks, and this is, like I mentioned,
- 54:24Speaker 1: sixth ranked run defense by DVA football outsiders on the
- 54:27Speaker 1: season is the Colts. They got good team speed, they
- 54:31Speaker 1: got good linebackers, they got good d line play. Can
- 54:34Speaker 1: I just correct myself, Yes, it's Grant Stewart, not Grover Stewart. Okay,
- 54:38Speaker 1: so Grover's different guy, so that Stuarts Yeah, start my
- 54:42Speaker 1: bad if unless they do a total one eighty with
- 54:45Speaker 1: the way that they've been run blocking in the last
- 54:47Speaker 1: I would even say month. I mean, I go back
- 54:48Speaker 1: to the Detroit game. I know Vermandre rush for one
- 54:51Speaker 1: hundred and sixty, but one hundred and eleven of them
- 54:53Speaker 1: came after contact, So he's doing it all on his
- 54:55Speaker 1: own pretty much in that game. Same thing on Sunday
- 54:58Speaker 1: against the Jets. So I don't know if gonna be
- 55:00Speaker 1: able to run the football against these guys. So what
- 55:02Speaker 1: I would like to see again, I'll keep banging the
- 55:06Speaker 1: table for the RPOs. I'll do it again. I would
- 55:09Speaker 1: love to see some of that type of stuff though,
- 55:12Speaker 1: jet motion RPO things to get the ball outside on
- 55:16Speaker 1: the perimeter on these guys. But what I love so
- 55:19Speaker 1: much about the RPOs is that it's when it works,
- 55:21Speaker 1: it's easy yards, right. You know, you're you're throwing it
- 55:23Speaker 1: out to the screen Jacoby Myers and you're getting five, six, seven,
- 55:26Speaker 1: eight yards on first down, and now we're ahead of
- 55:29Speaker 1: schedule and we can open up the playbook. So that's
- 55:31Speaker 1: the biggest thing that you can use those with and
- 55:34Speaker 1: when you can't block. I mean, we talked about two yesterday.
- 55:37Speaker 1: I'm sure we'll talk about this a little bit more today.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Last season, Miami in his first two seasons really couldn't
- 55:45Speaker 1: block anybody, so they led the league an RPO rate.
- 55:48Speaker 1: Because it just gets the ball out of his hands quickly.
- 55:50Speaker 1: It lightens the box. It allows the whole thing to
- 55:53Speaker 1: run without the offensive line being a driving force. I've
- 55:56Speaker 1: just pictured you like pleading to this to like Manetrician
- 55:59Speaker 1: a press conference all the time. But as he was
- 56:03Speaker 1: saying it, I was thinking to myself, and I don't
- 56:04Speaker 1: know the answer to this question, but have you ever
- 56:07Speaker 1: given any thought to that, like getting into it, getting
- 56:09Speaker 1: into coaching at some level? No, No, Two reasons. Why
- 56:14Speaker 1: One you flatter me, I don't know. I don't think.
- 56:16Speaker 1: I didn't say you'd be good at it. I don't
- 56:19Speaker 1: think I I'm on that level by any means. I
- 56:22Speaker 1: didn't mean like a NFL level, talking about well somewhere
- 56:27Speaker 1: you know. Yeah. Secondly, the hours that the coaching staff
- 56:32Speaker 1: puts in. I mean, we put in a lot of
- 56:34Speaker 1: hours as media, but the coaching staff doubles it. And
- 56:36Speaker 1: I have no desire to do that whatsoever. Obviously, Like
- 56:39Speaker 1: just from my perspective having played hockey and then coached hockey,
- 56:42Speaker 1: like it's it's one thing to know the game, it's
- 56:44Speaker 1: a whole new challenge to get people to play the
- 56:47Speaker 1: game that way together. That was so too, but such
- 56:52Speaker 1: a challenge. I've never had a more unique challenge than that.
- 56:57Speaker 1: A bunch of dudes. Everybody loves hockey, everybody liked it. Teach,
- 57:00Speaker 1: That's what coaching is. Yeah, it's teaching. Patty's an agawam
- 57:04Speaker 1: on the East Ticket hot line. What's up, Patty? Hey,
- 57:07Speaker 1: good afternoon, gentlemen. Hey. Um, So, a couple of things,
- 57:12Speaker 1: and then I got a questions for you guys. First thing,
- 57:15Speaker 1: when you guys first hired Evan, I was just waiting
- 57:17Speaker 1: for him and Paul to get into it. So the
- 57:18Speaker 1: end of the end the Yesterday show was awesome. When
- 57:25Speaker 1: you guys are talking about quarterbacks beating up in January, Paul,
- 57:28Speaker 1: you'll appreciate this. I for the longest time, I called
- 57:31Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers a poor man's Joe blackout for us his
- 57:35Speaker 1: run in twenty ten. Yeah, do you want to stay hi?
- 57:38Speaker 1: Stay high? Hi? And uh, I questioned, is this week
- 57:45Speaker 1: I'm not really looking for style points. I don't know
- 57:47Speaker 1: about two guys, but I'm just hoping that they you know,
- 57:50Speaker 1: I can I can see the scene an ugly game.
- 57:52Speaker 1: I just want them to get in, get out, hopefully
- 57:55Speaker 1: get to win, don't you know, don't get any more
- 57:58Speaker 1: guys on the injury report, fully rest up in the
- 58:00Speaker 1: bye week and come back a little bit healthy and
- 58:02Speaker 1: see what they can do for the second half of
- 58:04Speaker 1: the season. I agree, Okay, yeah, absolutely, thanks Patty. I mean,
- 58:09Speaker 1: would you agree that this game's in me on mac them?
- 58:11Speaker 1: I mean it feels like that's the direction is trending.
- 58:13Speaker 1: If they can't really run, especially if they get behind
- 58:16Speaker 1: or the defense, I mean, of course, but but generally
- 58:19Speaker 1: I kind of agree with Evan. I think that they'll
- 58:22Speaker 1: probably try to run, try to throw the ball a
- 58:24Speaker 1: little bit because I don't think they'll be able to
- 58:25Speaker 1: just run roughshot over the Colts. But if they force
- 58:29Speaker 1: turnovers and mistakes and take advantage of then I think
- 58:32Speaker 1: they can create separation and win going away like they
- 58:35Speaker 1: did Sunday. But if they don't do that, then I
- 58:39Speaker 1: don't know what's going to happen. I guess the question then,
- 58:41Speaker 1: is is how conservative do you expect them to be
- 58:43Speaker 1: Do you expect them to start to be more aggressive
- 58:45Speaker 1: with Mac? I mean all the things that haven't mentioned, those,
- 58:47Speaker 1: you know, maybe are more schematic things, more so than
- 58:50Speaker 1: let's just say spread them and let magmate the calls
- 58:53Speaker 1: at the line and you know, maybe go hurry up
- 58:54Speaker 1: and try to you know, get them on their heels
- 58:56Speaker 1: a little bit. And I just I guess I'm gonna
- 58:59Speaker 1: be a little bit dis pointing if they go into
- 59:00Speaker 1: this game and it feels like, all right, Mac, don't
- 59:02Speaker 1: lose it for us, just take what's there and if
- 59:05Speaker 1: it's not, take a knee, you know, like I like that.
- 59:08Speaker 1: I want to see them try to push it a little.
- 59:09Speaker 1: Don't listen to Joe Judge's press conference from Tuesday, then
- 59:13Speaker 1: you don't want to. You do have to pick your
- 59:14Speaker 1: spots with this defense because they play that Seattle three
- 59:19Speaker 1: zone defense in the back end, which is totally designed
- 59:21Speaker 1: to take away big plays, so they're not going to
- 59:23Speaker 1: give up explosive plays through the air easily. And then
- 59:27Speaker 1: they rushed the passer well. So if you go into
- 59:29Speaker 1: this game and you play the Bruce Arians offense, we
- 59:33Speaker 1: saw through the first three weeks of the season, I
- 59:36Speaker 1: think you're asking for trouble. I really do. But when
- 59:39Speaker 1: they get into man coverage, I know they have Gilmore now,
- 59:42Speaker 1: but other than Gilmore, they've been pretty vulnerable in man coverage.
- 59:46Speaker 1: Deuce is such a fan. You're such a fan. Open
- 59:49Speaker 1: it up, open it up, take shot. I'm I'm not
- 59:53Speaker 1: saying that. I'm just saying like, like I'm over the
- 59:56Speaker 1: like holding the hand holding, and I don't want, you know,
- 59:59Speaker 1: like I don't see, like I don't think exactly see.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: To me, like taking shots doesn't necessarily mean or taking
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: what's there doesn't necessarily mean you're holding his hand like
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: I want him to just see the field. That doesn't
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: mean take shots. But like you know, hit Hunter Henry
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: underneath instead of trying to force it to Jacobe Myers.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: To me, that's that's not holding his hand. When he's
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: doing that, that's him looking at and seeing the field
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: and spreading the ball. You know. So they'll have some
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: opportunities against them when they play man. They play they
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: play a ton of zone, right, It's like eighty percent zone,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: twenty percent man. But they will play man on third down,
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: and even the commanders, I know that. I don't know
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: if the Patriots have anybody as good as Terry McLaurin.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: But even because the Commanders were able to beat them
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: in man coverage pretty consistently. So when they see man,
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: I do think you might see checks at the line
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: and some head tapping and stuff like that from Mac
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Jones and say, hey, you know, let's let's get something here.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Let's get Tykewon up the field, Let's get you Kobe
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Meyers on a deep crosser. Let's try to attack this
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: a little bit when they play zone. You like what
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Fred saying, can't go broke taking the profit, Like you
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: just have to take what's there, because that's what the
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: way that these defenses. He even has all the cliches though,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: like I'm telling you, do it, do it? I yesterday Sunshine,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: he said. His old coach used to call him. That
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: was big when I was on. Yeah, Like, do you
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: know what Mac Jones just said, Let's go to to
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: Sean in Virginia. What's up to Sean? Look on how
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: you got to go good? Good? I thought, I'm a
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: little bitted, all right, I'm a little bit congested right now.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: But that word touched her. Was with what Paul said
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: earlier about Mac just making a play. I could basically
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: kind of say the same thing for like his personal
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: that's around him. Well, but I think they didn't thought
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: making plays as well, because everything you shouldn't be scheming
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: for me just to do. So sure, yeah, yeah, I
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: think that's fair. Everybody needs to step up. The offense
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: hasn't hasn't played great. What scheme well, I like, I
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: would say, like a scheme like they had on the
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: touchdown play on the fourth down, which I was like,
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: I mean, I know they've tried that so many times
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: and failed, but I mean that was good scheme involved.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: I thought in the Jets game, there are two things
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: that I was like, oh that three things. I'll give
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: them the coaching staff credit for one. The hurry up
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: in the second half I thought was was a nice rinkle.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: Two you know I love the RPOs. And three the
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: touchdown to Jacoby where they've motioned him out at the backfield.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: But I go and I watch, you know, these other
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: teams across the league, even the Colts who offensively just
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: fired their offensive coordinator, and you see do you see disguise,
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: you see misdirection, you see motion, you see play action,
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: you see RPO, you see all these different bells and
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: whistles that they use to get their fast guys the
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: football in space, whether it's Indianapolis and it's Jonathan Taylor,
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: or it's Paris Campbell, or was Niheim Hines before they
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: traded him. And I'll go back to the Dolphins because
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: I just love what they're doing from a schematic standpoint. Obviously,
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: Tykwon Thornton is not Tyree Hill, but Tykwon Thornton's got
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: speed like Tyree Hill to some degree, right, And the
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: lack of creativity to get Taykwon into space with the
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: football in his hands. Do you think any of that
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: has to do with the fact that, you know, you're
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: a coordinator, comes from the defensive side of the ball,
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: And you know, I absolutely and I think that that's
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: sort of the design of the offense that maybe they're
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: not there yet because they don't have the wherewithal the
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: design they'll have a place like like Mike McDaniel wood
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: for example, or Frank Wright, who's an offensive coach. But
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: what it bugs me about it is that you would think,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: as a defensive minded coach, you would say, man, that
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: really gives us problems, Like when teams motion guys at
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: the snap when we run all these fakes and misdirection
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: in the back field and we have to read it
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: out from a defense's perspective, like that always stresses the
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: defense and that always gives us problems. So as an
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: offensive guy, like, if we're reverse engineering this, which is
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: the credit I want to give them, then shouldn't we
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: be looking at it and saying, well, we should do
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: more of that? Because I watch Miami play and I
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: watch what they do with Jalen Waddle and Tyree Hill.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: They scheme up so many different ways to just create
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: foot races like a game attack, and like their guys
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: are so much faster than everybody else's guys that it's
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: just ball in space for Tyree Hill with forty yards
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: of field to work with and good luck tackling him.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Thanks at that point, yea, yeah. Can I ask you
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: a question, Evan, because we got a call earlier someone was,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: you know, kind of commenting on what your perspective was
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: on the offensive coordination, offense, No, no, the offense in
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: general early in the season. And I mean, and I
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: said I and he felt like you were a little
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: bit higher on the offense then, And it feels like
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: you're down on the offensive coordination now, like just from
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: the point you first saw things going on in mini
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: camp and OTAs to this point, now, what has been
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: just kind of your overall evaluation and just your overall
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: feeling of what they're trying to do on offense and
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: do you feel like they are headed in a right direction?
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: And I know the RPO stuff is part of that,
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: but just overall, how have you seen things go and
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: what have just your reaction been to what you've seen?
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: When right, they're doing a bunch of wide zone stuff
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: and now they're doing this and that you know over
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: the last six months. So I like the fact that
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: they have had the wherewithal to recognize what works and
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: what doesn't work right. So the wide zone stuff, for example,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: it doesn't work all summer long, didn't work really to
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: start of the season. They've run it more and we
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: actually ran into numbers earlier this week. They've run it
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: a little bit more than what they did last year.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: But they've recognized that that's not going to be their
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: base play. Like they're not going to run that like
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: the Niners run it or like the Rams run it,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: because they're just not good enough at it yet, so
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: they've more or less put that on the back barn
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: I wouldn't say they thrown it into the trash, but
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: they put it in the back burner. So I like
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: the fact that they've evolved a little bit in terms of, Okay,
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: this is what we came into the season thinking we
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: were going to be good at, but we're actually not
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: very good at that, so we're gonna pivot. The thing
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: that I that concerns me about their play calling and
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: their play design. I would say it's more play design concerns,
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: but in general is that I feel like, like I
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: just mentioned, there's once or twice a game where I'm like, oh,
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: that was creative, that was good, right Leak They ran leak,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: and I went crazy in the press when what happened.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: What happened, But that play. The reason why I get
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: so excited is because it feels like an eight games,
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: there's so few times where I'm just like, yes, Like
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: that's that's coordinating, that's play calling. Like you have been
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: running this play with crosser post all for a month
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: and then you added the leak route onto that as
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: a complimentary play and you got a why open touchdown?
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Good job Matt Patricia, like that is how you do it, Okay,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: But I can only say that once or twice a game.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: And I'm not saying I used to say it a
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: hundred times a game with Josh McDaniels necessarily either, but
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: with McDaniels I said it a lot more. And I
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: would also just mention that once they run out of it,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: that's it. Like they have like two things in their bag.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: Like on Sunday against the Jets, it was the motion
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: play on fourth down to Jacobi and it was hurry up,
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: like that was their aces in the hole, right, that
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: was what was in their back pocket. So do you
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: think it's safe to say that they've discovered what doesn't
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: work for them, but they haven't really discovered what does
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: work for them, Like it just seems like we're crossingthing
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: that doesn't work, that doesn't work, Like it's just it
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: seems like they aren't finding this is what we can
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: do that, like you know when it seems like every
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: year they find like, all right, I don't know if
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: anything else, but this is one thing that we know
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: we can do. I don't know what that is yet.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: I just feel like it's it's simple, like and that
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: doesn't necessarily matter when you have elite playmakers Like I
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: always go back to what Belichick said about the earliest
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: two thousands Colts, because they were eleven personnel. It was
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: Reggie Waiting and Stokely over here, it was Marvin over there,
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: it was paying out the line of scrimmage, and they
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: were just so damn good that it didn't matter that
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: they were predictable. Okay, the Rams before Belichick figured them out.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: Dallas Clark as well, there you go, and they the
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Rams until Belichick figured them out. Really, to give Patricia credit,
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: he kind of started it, but regardless, until the Patriots
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: figured them out in the Super Bowl, they were eleven
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: personnel on like ninety nine percent of their place, right,
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: they just did one thing, and they did it so
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: well that nobody could stop it. When you have teams
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: like that, you can do that. But the Patriots, to me,
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: don't have the personnel where they can just win one
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: on one consistently across the board enough that they're able
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: to move the football at a high rate. So when
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: I watch some of these other teams, like I think
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: we're gonna see it on Sunday. With the Colts, they
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: have a young quarterback because in his second career start,
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: and Frank Reich is known for having wrinkles, for having
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: little gadget plays and things that you just aren't really
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: used to seeing on a week to week basis. And
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: I look at Miami again, and I look at Buffalo,
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: and I look at all these teams, and they just
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: do such a great job of manufacturing plays for their
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: playmakers to get into advantageous situations. And I just don't
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: see that enough. With how many times a game do
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: you see it out of Miami? Oh my gosh, I
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: mean I might want to stop watching the games. Deuce, Yeah,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: let's go. Let's go. I'm not saying he can lead
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: them to a super Bowl or anything like that, but
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: he's like, he's like an Ivy League like coach when
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: it comes to offensive scheme. And Kyle Shanahan's the same way.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: So obviously he gets it from Kyle Shanahan. But yeah,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: those two guys are just awesome play designs. Go to
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: CJ and Case and then we'll take a break. What's
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: up CJ? Hey, what's up? Guys? Hey? Hey? Quick question? Um,
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: I was wondering is there anything that we could see
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: just on the offensive side a thing, and over this
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: game and maybe the next Jets game, that would make
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: you guys think like, yeah, we've turned a page. Yeah
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: we're on track. Yet, were going in the right direction?
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: Or are we going to have to wait until Minnesota
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: a really good team to really know if we've made
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: any kind of impact difference. I would Jets have a
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: good defense and the Colts, and I think if the
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: offense works efficiently, they protect mac, he spreads the ball,
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: guys are getting involved. I'd say, Okay, that's a step
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: in the right direction. But I would also like to
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: see it like you know several times. Yeah, like I said,
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: step in the right direction, you know. Yeah, No, I'm
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: with you, and I agree with you on the Colts
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: and the Jets, especially the Jets because you just saw
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: them and you just saw what that defense. So how
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: do you know you have, like three weeks later you
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: get to play him again. What did you learn and
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: how did you adjust or did they say, you know what,
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: we can be even more dominant defensively again, Yeah, we've
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: seen what you got and we can counter right now. Right,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: That's what I'm worried about. Yeah, thanks c J. All right,
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: we'll take a break. When we come back, he's gotta

- 1:22:44Speaker 1: was thinking, you know, he finally took the time now
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: that Eric left to do some globe trotting. But this
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: business okay, Well I hope it goes well. Thank with that?
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: Thank you? Is that it that was gonna wish you well? Wow? Okay?
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: Safe trip? Marks and Bolton. What's up? Mark? Um? Hey guys, Um,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: I'm on Twitter a lot, maybe too much, and I
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: follow all of you. Um. I think the progress of
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: the offensive coaching staff has been like molasses in their
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: adjustments and um, you know, Evan, I was just reading
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: last night where you know Max is making you know,
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: he's in the top ten as far as his difficulty
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: of throws he's making. I mean my contention is I'd
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: like him to start to have some easiest throws to
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: make um. And that's because they're just not doing anything
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: to give him some easiness throws to make um. That's
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: one point. So any comment on that, yeah, absolutely. So.
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: The stat that I put out there was what PF
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: calls big time throws, which are basically just those elite wow, like,
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: holy smokes, what a good throw type of plays right
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: and mac right now is tied for ten in the league.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: And the rate in which he throws those types of throws, Now,
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: you can't go Rod numbers because he didn't play right,
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: So we're going with a rate here. But he had
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: seven of them, and the five appearances that he's made
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: a lot of those came against Baltimore. I will say
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: that it was pretty skewed to that Baltimore game, but
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: he has made. My point was that he has made
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: more of those types of throws down the field, big
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: time throws that maybe people realize. That's not to say
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: that he's played well or to excuse all the other
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: things he's done wrong, but I do think he has
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: more of a capability to throw the ball down the
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: field than people give him credit for when the opportunities
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: present themselves. That that was basically the take which brings
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: me to Taekwon Thornton. You know, back in the day
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: when Grogan got insight into, you know, between the fifty
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: and the forty yard line of the opponent. Once a game,
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: he was going to throw a deep post to Stanley
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: Morgan you know, and you know that resulted in a touchdown,
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: and you know, I want to see that from Thornton.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: I want to see then the red zone performance is horrible.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: So maybe let's try to score from outside the red zone.
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: And I'm not saying go crazy with it, but you know,
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: how about a stop and go on a third and
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: one to Thornton just to let these other teams there. Yeah, well,
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: they tried that. They tried to run a dull spark
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: to Kendrick Bourne and Marcus Cannon got beat and the
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: ball got tipped up in the air and it was
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: an interception. So they've definitely tried to push the ball
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: down the field more. We've talked about this a lot.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: They're throwing the ball down the field significantly more than
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: they were last year right now. I think the biggest
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: reason why they're struggling to do it is because of
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: the past protection. But look, I I am also one
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: of those people that think that red zone stats are
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: can be a little bit overrated because you can score
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: from the twenty five and it doesn't count as a
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: red zone touchdown. But I think that at the end
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: of the day, when you're twenty ninth in red zone
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: scoring and you're really near the bottom of the league
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: in a stat that's important. And then your seventeenth and
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: overall scoring that tells you the key that tells you
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: that you're making it too hard on yourself to get points.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: And I think in the red zone, you know, we
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: talked about it on Unfiltered TV. I think that you know,
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: penalties has been a big problem for them inside the twenty.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: I'd also say that the space down there is condensed vertically,
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: so stretching the field horizontally in the red zone is
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: critical because you don't have the vertical space. So I
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: would love to see some more of the horizontal stretch plays,
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: jet motion things to get the ball outside and be
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: able to get to the flats and outside the formation
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: and threaten the defense that way, because he can't just
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: go up the field all the time in the red
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: zone because you don't have enough space. All right, a
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: few emails before we go to the picks for this
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: week Rogers and Saint Louis, he says, I genuinely agree
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: with Evans takes, and someone has to put Paul in
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: his place. Being the loudest in the room doesn't make
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: you less wrong. Mister Parillo. Absolutely, But a different question
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: on the two it discussion. Is he the most polarizing
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: player in the NFL? Currently? The only other player I
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: can think of his Dak, But that's mostly because people
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: hate Dallas. I don't think he's one of those, right,
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: Why Why is he polarizing? I think two is a
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: little bit polarizing. Does he mean in terms of whether
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: you think he's good or not? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, And
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: I think I think here, yeah, But I don't think
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: Dak is a very polarizing player at all. I think
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: most people think he's good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: I said my bit on two. I mean I just
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: I speak from a Patriots perspective, and I think he's
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: been outstanding against the Patriot I think if the Patriots
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: didn't have an Alabama quarterback, the vitriol for TA would
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: not exist the way it does. I think that's like
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: we have the better Alabama quarterback. I don't think it's
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: necessarily like. I don't think two is bad. But Nate Tis,
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: who writes for The Athletic and used to play quarterback
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: at Wisconsin, he was watching the Miami film and he
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: was posting some clips last night when they played Detroit,
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: and you know the Lions on third down, they were
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: doubling Tyree Hill on third down and through the wall
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: to Jayleen Waddle right, because he's got somebody else to
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: throw the football too in those situations. So they read
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: a bracket call on Tyreek Hill on third down. Jaylen
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: Waddle ran a wheel route from the slot and caught
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: a forty yard touchdown. And he's like three steps in
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: front of the defensive back because he's one on one
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: with no safety help over the top on him. So
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: these are the things that when I talk about two
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: that you know, I just don't think the Patriots have that.
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: I don't think they have. They definitely don't have a
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: number one like Tyreek and I don't even know if
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: they have a number two like Jaylen Waddle. Um real quick,
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: because I know we have to get started on the picks.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: How do you see in general? I'm not asking the percentages,
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: but in general, how do you see teams defending the Patriots.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: It's a good question. They definitely have loaded the box
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: more against them, I would say over the last month.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: Certainly was zappy in the game. They were stacking the
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: box ton But the Jets played a decent amount of
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: too high against them in that game on Sunday with
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: Mac back in there. I think the Jets, whether they
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: were successful at it or not, they saw and tape
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: that the Patriots were trying to run more vertical based
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: plays and knew that they would at least try it.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: I asked you that first because I wanted to see
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: That's how I would see it too. I'm not telling
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: you like, oh, seventy eight percent of the time they
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: have a heavy box whatever. I don't have the numbers,
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: but you know, just been watching, I think a lot
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: of teams. Uh, certainly Cleveland did it ridiculous to a
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: ridiculous length. We're going to stop the run, which I
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: think should open up more opportunities in the passing game.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: So like you can say, well, they don't a double
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: Tyreek hill and you still have a jail and waddle
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: to go to. But he should have a lot of
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: options in the passing game, and they they somehow haven't
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: well on a consistent base. I mean in Cleveland, they
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: you know Bailey's habit three for three hundred yards, and
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: that would be one example where where it did it
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: did work out that way. But I don't. I haven't
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: really seen Mac take advantage of that as much. I
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: don't think that they're playing in the same exact way.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: I don't think they are either, So I would agree
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: with that, Um, and you know that I'm team Mac
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: over is that this is not a Mac and a
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: snappy thing. This is just like I think that it's
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: easy to sometimes look at other guys and say how
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: how easy he has it for this that, And it's
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: not easy, obviously because it's it's the hardest spot to
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: play in sports. But there are different things that different
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: guys have opportunities to do. And I think most teams
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: go into a game against the Patriots saying, we can't
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: let the running game dominate today. We have to make
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: sure they're scheduled team right. When the Patriots offense is
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: ahead of the chains and they're running the football and
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: then they're running play action off of the run, they
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: are very good offense. And I think by him, he's
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: very similar by the way, you don't want to or
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: third and twelve, like now, he's got to drop back,
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: he's got to push it. He wants to take his
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: shots when he wants to. So UM, bottom line, I
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: told that everybody before you come on, Evan very informal.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: Pole probably asked about twenty people yesterday, very informal, very informal,
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: not like my little pool, my little pole for a
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: lot of prom earlier. Virtually everybody agrees with you. I
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: I frame it as MAC in place of TOOA. Nothing
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: else changes. Does it look better, worse or the same?
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: Nobody said better? Everybody said not everybody. Most people said
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: the same. A couple of people, and admittedly I took
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: a couple of those with a grain of salt because
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: they're known Mac batchers, Jim Murray, and they said it
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: would look worse. But most people agreed with you in
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: that it would probably look about the same. Yeah. Look,
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: I'm not saying that they which is probably right. By
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: the way, I really had to jump in because of
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: the whole speed thing I was. I was itching over
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: here and I really just had to jump in. It's
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: not I don't think that I gave out the stat yesterday.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: I'll whatever passer rating QBR, whatever your favorite quarterback metric
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: is to his number one in the league across the board.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: So I don't know if the MAC would be number
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: one in the league, but I just watched that Miami offense,
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: and I love what McDaniel's doing. I think that he's
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: on a different level of offensive play calling and designing
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: than what the Patriots have. And they have two playmakers
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: in Water and Hill that are better than anybody on
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: the Patriot And I would certainly say, you know, I'm
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: gonna eliminate Skylett Thompson, but Teddy Bridgewater has been around
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: for a while. Shouldn't have looked pretty close with a
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: guy like that, and it didn't. Derek wants to know
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: if there's any updates on time Montgomery. No, not looking
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: like that's coming back anytime. So yeah, Mike Rerease was
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: on that like last week either two weeks ago, I
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: think the week that he was eligible to come off,
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: and it was a firm he will not be practicing. Okay,
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: we'll see by week. You never know. Finally, Barton poland um,
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: who are the only two players in the NFL who
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: have five hundred plus yards rushing and two hundred plus
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: yards receiving? Stevenson see if he's one of them. Yeah,
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: he's up there. I just saw this, not literally, just
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: Kaffrey is correct. There you go. Yeah, Caffrey geez. I
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: wonder what the Niners record would be without Kaffrey. All right, Um,
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: it's that time of the week that that's why they
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: don't like me. What happened last week? All right? Um? Yeah,
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: your COVID Your COVID picks did very well, Mike, Mike, Mike, No, well,
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: not really. Twelve and three last week, So good job
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: by Mike, followed by Alex, Evan and Paul at ten
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: and five and Fred at nine and six winning. I'm
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: having a bad with the spread Mike ten and five,
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: good solid week, wow, followed by Paul at nine and six,
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: Evan at eight and seven, Alex at seven and eight,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: and Fred at five and ten. This was my year
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: last year, so uh. Season standings as follows Paul seventy six,
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: forty six and one, followed by Mike seventy three, forty
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: nine and one and Fred sixty six, fifty six and
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: one in forty eight and twenty seven Alex forty eight
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: and twenty nine. That's a different amount of games because
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: depending on the bye week in which week they picked
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: and not, I have all the winning percentages. If anybody's interested.
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: Evans is the best at six forty Wow. He's compared
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: to with with the with the spread. Oh god, I
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: continue to amaze myself. Seventy six forty six and one
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: for me. Oh no, I'm sorry, seventy three forty eight
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: and two. I am with the spread seventy three forty
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: eight and two, followed by Mike sixty one sixty and two.
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: You're winning money, Mike, uh and Fred he's putting a
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: bag over forty eight seventy three and two. That is,
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: in case you were wondering, that's a winning percentage of
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: three ninety eight batting average. Still, don't think you're as
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: bad as I was last year. He's the Dan camp.
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: So Evan, Evan, let's see here, you're thirty five, thirty
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: eight two and Alex's thirty seven thirty nine. Get better
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: against the spread? Good, straight up? Why That's why they
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: make That's why they do it. So that's that's how
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: we look at. But Evans winning percentage overall is six forty.
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: So that's that's that's the highest. All right, we'll start
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: with tonight's game information. Guys, Oh, I don't like hearing
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: it because I'm doing all right, We'll just say what
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: it is. Then Prime video Baby seven and O Eagles
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: are at the one, five and one Texans. Okay, so
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: thirteen games this week, a lot of buys and a
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: lot of road favorites. Leading off with the Eagles by
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: fourteen fourteen sounds like Brandon Cooks ain't gonna play either.
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: Mount Cooks and gonna play. Yeah, you wanted to be
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: in doubt and get traded. He didn't want to get traded. Yeah,
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: I mean, I gotta go Philly. I think they're undefeated.
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: I I'm I'm gonna lay think they're undefeated. Okay, I
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: think they're undefeated. Fourteen points, I'll lay them. It's a lot.
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: So this game's on video and the Bruins game is
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: on ESPN Plus Tonight streams stream stream Center. Don't cross
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: the streams. It would be amazing that the world share.
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: We still won't win the ratings night right. This is
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: clearly Eagles Eagles. Yeah, that's a lot of points, but
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna lay them. I'm with the boys. I'm gonna
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: go see Texans putting up a fight. I'm sorry. Eagles
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: both ways, one o'clock, the four and three. On Sunday,
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: the four and three Chargers are at the four and
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: four Falcons another road favorite, Chargers by three and a half.
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: That's a little bit respect for the Falcons. No, no,
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: no respect, No, Arthur Smith. I mean two interesting teams though.
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: I mean I feel like a Lamb is kind of
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: surprisingly good. Chargers may be surprisingly not quite as good
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: as they thought they would be. Um, but I think
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the Falcons at home as underdogs
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: a little bit on. I'll sit there. The eighth rated
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: quarterback in QBR right now is Marcus Mariota, which is
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: I mean, they're not asking him to do much, but
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: the fact that he's that efficient is pretty impressive. I'm
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: taking the Falcons at home too. I don't really someone's
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: off about the Chargers. Yeah, I don't know what. Dombardio
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: will tell you. It's not an accident. With all those injuries.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: They don't know how to do it. That's what he says. Oh.
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: I will take the Chargers to win, but I will
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: take the hook. I like the three and a half.
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: I like a field goal game, so I'll take the charges,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: but I'll take the points. I will take the Falcons
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: both ways. One o'clock five and three, Dolphins are at
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: the three and five Bears. Miami makes it three for
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: three on road favorites by five. Yeah. Well, we've been
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: talking all about twa and pumping them up, so I
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: don't see how I can pick against Miami and this one,
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: I'll take them and lay the points. I'm also gonna
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: take Miami to cover. But i will say the Bears
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: last two weeks finally using Justin Fields as a runner
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: and finally actually calling a playbook that fits the skill
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: set of the quarterback, so they've they've been better. But
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna give the Dolphins this one. I
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: agree with Evan only I'm gonna take the point, so
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Miami to win. I also have some
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: concerns with the whole Miami offense as the year goes
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: on and the weather starts to turn. I wonder if
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: he has the kind of arm that can perform. And
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: I'm not telling you early November and Chicago is going
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: to be a terrible day, but it might not be great,
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: and I wonder how that offense looks. I'll take Miami
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: to win, but I'll take the points. Paul is correct,
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: that is the pick. Take the points to kiss a
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: death one o'clock. I can't believe I'm agreeing with the
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: forty eight seventy three and two guys. Two and six
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: Panthers are at the four and four Bengals since he
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: by seven and a half gross and then so this
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: is like, I mean, Cincinnati layed an absolute turd somehow.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: The Carolina Panthers are are fighting. But I'm gonna go
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: with Cincinnati to win at home, but I think Carolina
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: keeps it close. I'm gonna take those points. I'm gonna
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: do the same thing. This also supports my argument because
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: Joe Burrow without Jamar Chase not the same guy. Yeah,
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: not the same guy. So I'm gonna say that the
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: Bengals win, but that the Panthers keep it close. Yeah,
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: I will take the Bengals both ways. I will take
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: the Bengals both ways as well. I think you're right, Evan,
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: But I think as the games go on, he learns
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: to live without Jamaar Chase. So that's what I'm possible.
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: One o'clock, the three and five Packers are at the
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: one and six Bears. No, they're at the one and
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: six lines. The Packers are favored by three and a
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: half Lions and Tigers and Bears. Oh my yeah, I'm
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: gonna go with green Bay on the road. I'm not
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: really starting to parade for either of these teams. I'll
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: take green Bay lay the points after their fast start. Defensively,
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: the Lions defense has been the worst defense in the
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: league by a wide margin, like a drastically scary wide margin.
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: So even though the Packers have struggled, I'm taking the
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: Packers that I'm taking them to come Would you say
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: the number was again three and a half? Yeah, i
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: will take the Packers to finally win a game, but
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: I'll take the hook again and I'll take three and
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: a half. I think they lose by a field goal
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: because that's generally what the Lions do. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: take the Packers both ways in this one. That doesn't
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: mean their troubles are over. Oh god, one o'clock, the
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: two and five Raiders are at the two and six
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: Jaguars Raiders by one and a half. Who is this
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: a must win for for Joshin for both teams, they
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: only have two wins, they have to win both of them.
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: Josh wants to hang on his job. I'm gonna go
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: with Josh. I'm gonna get in the benefit of the dout.
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: They haven't been great. I'll take them, and I'll lay
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: the points on the road. I'm gonna take the Raiders
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: as well, But just so everybody knows, and this is
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: on the record, if Josh gets fired, I bring him
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: back the next day. He's not really gonna get fired,
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: is he. I can't believe it. Well, not with the
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: GM also being in lockstep with him, I think they
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: have to give him a longer leash. Yeeah. I will
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: take the Raiders too, but I'm with these guys. I
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: don't feel great about it. They just haven't looked good
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: at all. Yeah, I'm gonna take the Jaguars because I'm
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: rooting for Derek Lawrence or Trevor whatever's name. Yeah, we
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: got it. Trevor Carr. He's just beautiful. Lawrence was beautiful.
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: Dexta Lawrence. One o'clock three, four and one Colts are
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: at the Oh no, we're gonna skip. Uh. The one
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: o'clock six and one Bills are at the five and three.
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: Jets Bills by twelve and a half. Geez, twelve and
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: a half. I mean, I gotta pick Buffalo to win.
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: It's just a question if they're going to cover or not.
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: And I have to just seeing Zach Wilson do what
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: he did, it's just not gonna be enough mistakes. You're
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: gonna kill him. I'll lay the points. Why do you
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: think the spread is so big for the I mean,
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: the Jets don't have a terrible defense. I think their
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: quarterbacks an idiot, right, I am also going to take
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: the Bills to win. I'm gonna take the Jets to cover, though.
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: I just think their defense is good enough that this
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: game was twelve and a half. I mean, that's a
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: lot of points against a good defense. But I'm way
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: not that I think the Bills are bad. I've already
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: moved on from that point that Josh Allen is great,
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: but he does have one stinker a year, right, Like
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: there's like last year against Jacksonville. Like that game is coming,
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: it's not going to be a divisional game. It'll be
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: tends to have him in the Medal Lands too. It
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: doesn't play great at the Jet Yeah, and like in
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: this middle part of the season also, right, it's not
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: it's not like down the stretcher, yeah, immediately right, Um
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: so I'm waiting for that that stinker. It's gonna come,
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: but I don't think it's gonna be this week. I'm
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: with Evan. I have Buffalo winning the game, but I
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: will not lay the twelve and a half. Um. I
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: just watched that game last week. They were up. I mean,
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: they could have easily covered in that game. I think
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: they lost interest against Green Bay. I worry about I
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: worry about that a little bit. You know, are they
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: mature enough to handle the success that they're having. Yeah,
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: the problem with playing in the Medal Lands for the
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: Bills is the team makes the guys take their own cars.
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: They so, yeah, they're a little tired when they get
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: to drive themselves mentally. Is that actually true? That's tough.
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna take. Also, don't let them sleep in the
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: beds in the hotel. They tell him to stay on
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: top of the cover so they don't have to have
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: incur any room service. That's right, That's right. I'm gonna
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: take the Bills both ways though. I just yeah, the
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: Jets defense is good, but they're gonna score so little
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: points that you know you're gonna it's like thirteen points. Ye,
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: he's done. If you get into the you know, upper twenties.
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: You're gonna make that spread one o'clock. The six and
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: one Vikings are at the four and four Commanders, Minnesota
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: by three and a half. Three and a half, So
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins comes back to where it all started. But
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: it doesn't want o'clock game, So that means Minnesota it's
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: gonna win. But you know what, I'm gonna get a
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: little weird. I'm gonna take those points. I think it's
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: gonna be close. So the Commanders did activate Chase Young
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: this week, so I think he's gonna play in this game. Yeah,
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: is he gonna play? I know he was cleared to
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: return to practice. Yeah, I don't know if he's gonna play,
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: but there's something. Yeah, he's not a franchise quarterback. But
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: Taylor Heinek is feisty and he just keeps gaming. He's happy. Yeah,
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: he's a little I think the guy either playing this week,
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: Sam Ellener. I think they have similar skill sets. It's
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: just a little feistines there. So I'm gonna keep say
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: that they're gonna keep it close, and I'll say it's
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: a field goal game. But yeah, I like the Vikings.
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: I am gonna go all Fred kirsh and, folks, this
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: is your upset special. Stole it from I'll take Washington outright.
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: I just I know the Vikings just six and one.
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: I just don't think that they've played that well. I
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: think they've had they haven't passed the ball that one
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: periods of every game. It looks like they're in trouble
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: and they just find a way. Um. He's something to
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: be said for that, but I don't think they're that good.
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: I thought i'd be alone on this one, but I
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: gotta agree with Paul Commanders outright. Beat the Vikings, and
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: again I'll say I'm with the guy. Bring you down
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: with me? Yep. All right. Now, we're gonna skip over
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: the Patriots at one o'clock and we're gonna go to
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: four yea, four oh five. The five and three Seahawks
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: are at the three and five Cardinals Arizona by two.
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: You know, when the season started, did you really think
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: that the Seahawks would have a better record than the Broncos.
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: I think the Seahawks the biggest surprise in my opinion,
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: in the league. Playing a ton of rookies too. I
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: was reading this morning about just they just Pete Carroll
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: Uh yeah, duncan on everyone as the kids like to say. Yeah,
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: and that's why I'm gonna take Seattle on the road
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: for the upset. Gino Smith keeps the hype train rolling.
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: I think it's one of the one of the coolest
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: stories of the NFL this year. Just everyone thinks, oh,
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: he's gonna leave. They're done, They're gonna you know, it's
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: it's a nice, nice story. Not only is Gino playing
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: what he's playing fantastic, Like he's dropping they were done
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: with Russell Wilson. Yeah. The fact that Gino Smith is
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: not only playing what he's like lifting the team. Yeah,
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: it's crazy. He's playing. So dropped one of his throws
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: last week, Tyler Locket dropped. It was an absolute dime
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: and he came right back to it. Yeah, and the
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: guy I was playing, Headlockett. I was like really bummed.
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: But I want anyone. I would be hard pressed to
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: find a quarterback that's making more perfect downfield throws on
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: a consistent basis wise, is it the year six breakof
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: v O A EPA element op. I mean he is
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: just killing it, the elemental piece, the big he's being
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: disrespectful of you. I don't disrespect that he's not leading
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: the league in all those but maybe elemental Pepa. Maybe
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: I like the Seahawks. I'm gonna go with the Seahawks
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: as well. Oh no, I'm sorry, Paul. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: take Arizona at home. Oh, but that doesn't mean I
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: don't believe everything you guys just said about the Seahawks.
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: I think they've been great four twenty five. The boy
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: that this who knew that records would be the way
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: they are? In this one? The three and four Rams
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: are at the three and five Buccaneers. Uh, Tampa by three.
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: I'm a little torn on this one, fellas. Uh. You
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: know what, though, when in doubt, go with the goat.
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Tampa Bay at home. I will lay
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: those points. Paul says, two bad teams go with the home.
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: Like that too. I also would like to here that
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: the three older gentlemen in the room or using paper
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: and pen, and I have my cell phone to go,
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: so this fits perfectly right, Yeah, that's exactly right. All right? Uh,
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: well I have to record them, man. I guess I
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: could type him into my net. Evan's getting cocky in
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: the last days of his twenties. You know it's coming
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: fast for you, buddy. I mean, no one else, by
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: the way, and no one else will take screen too.
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: No one else will take the time to after record
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: what the picks are so we can find out who
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: won the previous room. I think Vegas has a nailed.
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: I think Bucks by a field goal is exactly what
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: it's going to be. But I'll take the Bucks and
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: I'll take them to cover because you said I can't
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: take them to can't push. Yeah, I will take Tampa
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: Bay as well. Ten days off. Um, I just think
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: that the Rams offensive line is really, really in shambles.
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: I think Tampa will find a way to win the one,
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: win this one. Yeah, I'm gonna take Tampa both ways
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: in this one as well. Eight twenty on and be
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: sure the five and two Titans are at the five
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: and two Chiefs. Chiefs by twelve and a half, that
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: sounds like a lot. Tennessee's defense has played well against
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes as if anybody has. Um, So I'm gonna
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: take Kansas City to win. But that's a ton of
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: points and I'm gonna I'm gonna take all twelve and
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: a half of them. I know we do this every
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: year with praising Vrabel, but the fact that this Titans
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: team is five and two. I know it's a bad division,
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: but it's still crazy. I mean, their Rostertown really isn't
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: that good and there's still five and two. I like
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: to chief so, Um, I'm with Mike, though I think
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: that's too many points. Yeah, I'll take the Chiefs both ways. Um,
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: Tanny Hill not playing right, Malik Willis, Yeah, I can't
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: keep up with Milik Willis. Yeah, that's probably why the
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: spread is what it is. I'll take the Chiefs both
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: ways as well. Eight fifteen Monday Night, five and three
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: Ravens or at the three and five Saints. Uh, the
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: Ravens by two and a half. That's a tough games. Yeah,
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: this is a big boy. I can't figure out the same.
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: They absolutely suck or they're great. There's no like mediocre
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: performances for them. I get it. Um, but I think
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the quarterback in this one. I'm
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: gonna go with Baltimore to win, and I think it's
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: by more than two point five. I'll lay the points.
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: I think Baltimore is blowing them out. The main reason
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: why I think it's Andy Dalton again, right for the Saints.
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: Anti Dalton in primetime is just like Kirk Cousins in
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: prime time. Terrible. I No, I didn't know Dalton had
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: a primetime thing. Yea. The second reason is Lamar Jackson
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: wanting to get paid. He has an Island game here
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: in prime time to make the statement once again, where's
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: my money, Baltimore, where's my money? He goes off. Yeah,
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: I'm I'm with the boys here. I'll take Baltimore both ways.
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: I'm going with New Orleans. Yeah, to win this game,
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: not just spread. It could happen like the way they play,
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: all of a sudden, they just they shut down. Lamar absolutely, Yeah,
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: all right, now we go back to one o'clock. And
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: you couldn't do this with your phone. Evans. Yeah. The
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: three four and one cults are at the four and
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: four Patriots, Patriots by five and a half. A lot
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: of respect for the Patriots. So yeah, I kind of
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: set my piece on this one yesterday. I just I
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: just think it's a game that's gonna unfold favorably for
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: the Patriots. I don't think that they're gonna, you know,
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: do anything crazy, but I think they're gonna get like
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: a special team score. They're gonna get, you know, maybe
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: a defensive fumble recovery six kind of thing. I just
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: see it being one of those kind of games where
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: it starts to go New England's way. India doesn't really
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: have much fight in them. Maybe they decide, hey, let's
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: not try to kill Jonathan Taylor when we're already losing.
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: So I got the Patriots winning twenty seven to three.
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: Oh wow, blow up, big defense of stand. So I
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: agree that the Patriots are gonna win this game. I
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: have them twenty six thirteen to beat Indianapolis. The main
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: reason why I'm gonna ask you all this question. Who
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: ran a faster forty yard dash at the twenty twenty
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: one NFL combine, Sam Ellinger or mac Jones Mac Jones.
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: The answer is mac Jones by a tenth of a
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: second faster than sam Ellinger. Yet I'm supposed to believe
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: that Sam Ellinger is this mobile, savant runner more than
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: he's not. He's not fast. If I'm the Patriots and
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: I think this is what they will do when they
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: run all those readoption style plays to try to get
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: creases for Jonathan Taylor kill Jonathan Taylor. Let let the
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: quarterback keep it. If Sam Ellinger's the guy that runs
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: all over you and wins the game, then so be it.
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: I don't see him doing it twenty six thirteen pass.
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: It's interesting you say that because we were talking earlier
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: about how Bill Belichick openly said we've had trouble against
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: mobile quarterbacks this year. Do you think that's an invitation
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: for the Colts go ahead, run them? Trying to encouraging
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: this kid is not justin fields. They're not going to
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: run him like that. Yeah, like six times last Yeah,
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: he ran them six times last week. For two of
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: them were scrambles, four of them were design runs. On
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: the design runs, I think he had something like nine
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: yards on four carries. Like this is not a dynamic runner.
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: I know he's hard to bring down once he gets
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: ahead of steam, but he is not a somebody that
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: you can carry your offense by having him run the football.
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: He's like a goal line, short yardage kind of guy. Yeah.
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: Like if they have like fourth and one, I could
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: see them doing one of those plays. That one and
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: that was the one play he made with his legs
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: was converting on like a third and two on a
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: on a read option keeper. But I will take the
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: Patriots in this game. I think that they will um.
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: I think they'll continue well, they'll win second in a row,
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: not continue on a winning streak because they're trying to
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: start one. UM. But I will take the points. I
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: think that it would require a mess of turnovers to
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: get the separation that people are talking about. That could happen. Rookie,
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: well not rookie, but making his first career start on
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: the road, could absolutely see a you know, an avalanche
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: turnovers in this one. But I'm not going to predict that.
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: And I will say sixteen thirteen Patriots. Wow, Okay, schlog.
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna say that the Patriots have a little bit
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: more luck on offense this week and they win the game.
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: I was gonna say thirty two seventeen, but I'm bringing
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: that down. Twenty seven seventeen Patriots by ten would be
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: a crazy game. Yea points reverse last year? Yeah, last
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: year was so ran out to a big lead and
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: then kind of chipped away at it there in the
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: fourth quarter. All the same bones are there for Indie.
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: That's the part that scares me a little bit. If
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: you're the Patriots about this game. They haven't played well
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: this year, but they still have all the same pieces
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: in their running game. They still have the interior defensive line, like,
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: all of the pieces are still in place. I mean,
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: they beat the Patriots really handily in that game with
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: Carson Wentz throwing for like fifty five yards or something
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: like that. So the quarterback is not a factor last
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: year either. So it does worry me that they basically
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: have the same team as they did last year, just
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: not playing as well as or hurt. I don't know
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: what the status, but how many games after a Bill
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: Belichick team you know, really got embarrassed, got beat badly,
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: when they play that team again, you know, within a
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: certain frame of time, you know, do they do better
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: a small sales side. I mean, the only one that
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: cames to mind right now, and I know there are
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: a stenuiney circumstances was Baltimore twenty nineteen where they got rolled,
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: and then twenty twenty Buffalo last Christmas, and then like
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: three weeks later, that's true, that didn't work out. Well,
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: I really am negative. That's the first thing that came
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: to my mind. But that's a good that's that's valid.
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: That's valid, right, but both both games weather conditions involving
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: and you know, I know, playing both sides of the
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: street with the two Buffalo blow up the last two games,
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: I was thinking, Yeah, so I don't know. I'm just
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: thinking that they took to heart what happened in that
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: last last time they played. And well, one thing that
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: I would say is, like Slater, Mike, you talked about
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: the Slater comment about the special teams, like you can't
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: go you don't go into games thinking we're gonna get
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: a punt block for a touchdown, We're gonna jump offside
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: when they miss a field goal and you know, extend
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: to drive and like that kind of stuff. Like they
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: had a bad, bad game. I know they were bad
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: on special teams last year. That was the baddest. Like
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: they were awful in the kicking game in that game,
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: that's not gonna happen. I remember the press conference after
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: the game, Belichick was so short with the media, and
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: that's didn't he apologize. He apologized the following day. He
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: when we had him on Zoom the next day, he
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: apologized for how much of a hole he was. I
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: remember that because I just want to, you know, start
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: off by saying you guys didn't deserve that. I think
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: was the phrases he used. In many ways, he probably
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: was referring to the game itself as well. Right, well,
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: what thought to him about that game that that you know,
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: he felt like that set him off in a way
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: that he hadn't been before, because I mean it was
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: in context. Was that press conference really that much worse
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: than it was? It was pretty bad? And you know,
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: I think he knew that he came into that press
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: conference within a bad movie because he came off to
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: buy you're you know, yeah, you had a path to
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: having a you know, came out like you know and
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: just played bad football, you know, all three phases like
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: they overpacked like on you know, Taylor ran all over him.
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: There's no doubt, but the Patriots you know, contributed to
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: that loss, no question, so many That's why, like I
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: don't look at it that because I don't see them
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: doing those kinds of things. With the kicking game. Was
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: that was really bad. Kicking game was bad. They had
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: a turnover in the red zone and another turnover to
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: start the second half. That's right, Jonathan Taylor ran for
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: one seventy I know, he had the sixty seven yarder,
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: but he was still averaging like four yards to carry
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: even before that. I mean they didn't they the quarterback
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: literally didn't throw the ball. Carson wentz through the ball
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: twelve times. He played terribly, He had five completions, and
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: they It still really wasn't a close game, real quickly
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: for you, though, Ray guys, soliloquy tomorrow for Belichick in
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: his press conference. Probably did he passed? He passed? Oh really, well,
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: someone someone will see him up for that. Yeah. Yeah.
