- 0:14Art is defined by the expression or application of human creative
- 0:19skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as a
- 0:24painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated
- 0:28primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
- 0:32Art takes time and effort, sometimes sweat, tears and
- 0:38blood, literally. But his art reflects emotional
- 0:41power in whatever branch it decides to express itself.
- 0:46Could it capture with it a piece of the human soul?
- 0:49When a man inherits a strange painting from his grandmother,
- 0:53bizarre happenings begin to manifest within his home.
- 0:57Can he decipher the paranormal mystery surrounding it before
- 1:01it's too late? This is the untold story of the
- 1:04Anguished Man painting of Cumbria, England and this
- 1:09particular story, like the painting itself, is an
- 1:13unsettling. 1. Cumbria, England, a beautiful
- 1:31place known for breathtaking scenery, has over the years
- 1:35become known as a creative hub for the arts, culture and
- 1:40literature, also being home to many of the artists themselves.
- 1:45But underneath this natural beauty lies something dark and
- 1:50foreboding. As art reflects beauty, it must
- 1:54also reflect the abhorrent. The information of some of the
- 2:00experiences are vague. However, I will try to tell the
- 2:05story as complete as I can, given what I could find.
- 2:09Our story begins in Cumbria, approximately around 2010.
- 2:14A man named Shawn Robinson has just inherited a painting from
- 2:19his grandmother. But unlike lots of other works
- 2:22of art, this one is grotesque, almost terrifying, and certainly
- 2:29makes one ponder the sanity of the person who made it.
- 2:33Although no one knows for certain how it came into
- 2:36Robinson's grandmother's possession originally, the
- 2:40painting had apparently been within the family for 30 years
- 2:44by this point, but had been in the attic of his grandmother's
- 2:48house for 25 of those years. She had said she had put it
- 2:53there because there was something evil about it.
- 2:57Within the five years the painting was visibly present
- 2:59within her home, numerous bizarre things began to occur.
- 3:04The legend, as it goes, is that the man who painted it had used
- 3:09his own blood within the painting itself, mixing it with
- 3:13the oils drip by drip, allowing his essence to become infused
- 3:19with the canvas. Although the time frame of its
- 3:22production is unknown, the artist behind it apparently
- 3:26would end by his own hand after finishing his masterpiece.
- 3:32Upon possessing this painting known as The Anguished Man,
- 3:35Robinson's grandmother would soon begin to have experiences
- 3:39that she couldn't explain. She began to see the dark and
- 3:43ominous figure of a man throughout her house, sometimes
- 3:47out of the corner of her eye and other times directly in front of
- 3:52her. This had to have been absolutely
- 3:55terrifying. I'm not entirely sure of her
- 3:58living arrangement, if her husband was still alive or not,
- 4:02but for speculation's sake, imagine being older and living
- 4:07alone, and then starting to see the spectral man wandering
- 4:11throughout your home, seemingly stalking you from the shadows.
- 4:16It's certainly more than enough to fuel your nightmares.
- 4:20This would prompt her to eventually move the painting
- 4:23into the attic, possibly out of fear as to what would happen if
- 4:28she got rid of it. As far as we know, given the
- 4:31information that is available, these apparitions cease to be
- 4:35once the painting was stowed away from the rest of the house,
- 4:39isolated to its own devices within the confines of the attic
- 4:44above. Years later, although he had
- 4:48been forewarned by his grandmother, Robinson wasn't
- 4:51convinced of the supposed evil that inhabited this strange work
- 4:55of art. He himself, being a lifelong
- 4:58horror fan, upon receiving it, was intrigued and decided to
- 5:03take it home. After placing it within the
- 5:06walls of his house, he too would soon begin to experience
- 5:10terrifying events that he couldn't explain.
- 5:15The painting would be sat on display in an upstairs bedroom
- 5:19and upon finding its new home, the painting known as The
- 5:22Anguished Man, began to invoke something evil.
- 5:27As it often does, the activity started small.
- 5:31The day the painting was placed in the house, creaking and
- 5:35footsteps began to be heard and would only continue from there
- 5:39on out. These creaks and footsteps grew
- 5:42ever louder and more aggressive and were soon coupled with
- 5:47tormented, almost muffled screams that would echo all
- 5:51throughout the house. The Robinson family soon began
- 5:55to see a pitch black figure wandering throughout their.
- 5:59Home. A murky, dark presence, an ever
- 6:03present set of eyes burning a hole through their very souls.
- 6:08These episodes disturbed Robinson, who had recalled that
- 6:12his grandmother had said that she experienced the very same
- 6:16phenomenon. In the coming months, the family
- 6:19would also begin to experience other hair raising activity as
- 6:23well. Soon, banging could be heard all
- 6:26throughout the house at odd hours of the day and night, with
- 6:31the activity seeming to peak between 3:00 and 4:00 AM.
- 6:36And with the previously mentioned phenomena, a new and
- 6:40mysterious deep crying noise could also be heard ever more
- 6:45frequently and with no rational origin.
- 6:50As time would pass, the haunting force would continue to only
- 6:54grow stronger. The manifestation of the Shadow
- 6:58Man would continue to be seen, and along with being seen, but
- 7:03also be observed crying and whispering.
- 7:07Although, despite hearing the whispers, the family could never
- 7:11decipher what he or it was trying to say.
- 7:16Alongside these bizarre and creepy happenings, A horrific
- 7:20visual would soon be seen by Sean Robinson's very own eyes.
- 7:25He would find himself suddenly awake between the hours of three
- 7:30and 4:00 AM, when activity would typically reach a fever pitch.
- 7:35Only this night was different. As his eyes adjusted, he sees
- 7:40standing at the foot of his bed, a dark figure whose face appears
- 7:45to be red, and upon a closer look, Sean is frozen with fear.
- 7:50What he was seeing before his very eyes, totally lucid, was
- 7:55the very same figure from the painting.
- 7:58But before Sean could allow himself to scream, the figure
- 8:03simply vanished. Not only would this have been
- 8:06absolutely bone chilling to experience, but with the
- 8:10activity continuing to escalate, Sean wondered what could be
- 8:14next. And was the apparition perhaps
- 8:17an omen of things to come? Whether it was the paranormal
- 8:21force or entity that inhabited the painting, or something else
- 8:26within the Robinson home? Although the home was not
- 8:29reported to have been haunted whatsoever prior to Sean
- 8:33receiving the anguished man, the entity persisted.
- 8:38One night, as the moon hung overhead, Sean Robinson found
- 8:43himself awake early in the morning.
- 8:46As he went down the stairs and into the kitchen, presumably to
- 8:49get himself a drink or a snack to wake up as most people often
- 8:55do, he would be suddenly startled by a blood curdling
- 8:59scream coming from his upstairs master bedroom.
- 9:03He recognized the scream, it was his wife.
- 9:07Robinson's wife would be woken up out of the sound sleep by
- 9:11having her hair played with and tugged on.
- 9:15Upon feeling for the origin in the darkness and rolling over,
- 9:19she was met face to face with a man that she described as being
- 9:25massive, having a sunken in mouth and eyes, and his
- 9:30breathing was absolutely horrific.
- 9:34This experience must have shocked and terrified the poor
- 9:37woman. Perhaps she was thinking it was
- 9:39her husband laying next to her, Except instead of experiencing A
- 9:43reassuring face staring back at hers when looking over after
- 9:48regaining consciousness, she sees something straight out of a
- 9:51horror movie looking at her instead.
- 9:55This morning certainly must have been a hectic one, because how
- 9:58does 1 console their wife after an experience like that?
- 10:02How does one fight something that shouldn't exist?
- 10:07Coexisting with the paranormal force that now inhabited their
- 10:10home, the Robinson family did their best to try and live
- 10:14normal lives, but the activity only ever seemed to get worse.
- 10:19However, one day, when Robinson's son Keenan was pushed
- 10:23down the stairs by something that he couldn't see, Sean had
- 10:28had enough, unsure of what would happen if he did away with the
- 10:31painting by discarding it. Who remembered how his
- 10:35grandmother had dealt with it with her own unique situation
- 10:38surrounding the painting and decided to, at least for the
- 10:41time being, place it in the cellar of his home, away from
- 10:46his family. The activity itself, although
- 10:49still somewhat present, certainly seemed to calm down
- 10:53quite a bit following this move. In the years to come, Shawn
- 10:57Robinson would begin to document the haunting surrounding the
- 11:00anguished man. This documentation began within
- 11:04several months of receiving the painting after he and his family
- 11:08went from skeptics to believers after experiencing a plethora of
- 11:13strangeness ever since the anguished man arrived in their
- 11:17lives. As of right now, there are about
- 11:2016 videos documenting various supernatural occurrences within
- 11:24the Robinson home surrounding the object.
- 11:28These manifestations include apparitions, flashing lights and
- 11:33eerie fogs enveloping the room the painting sits in, doors
- 11:37opening and closing by themselves, and various objects,
- 11:42including the painting itself, moving on their own.
- 11:46More recently, it seems like Auk based Paranormal group has
- 11:50assisted Robinson with investigating what could be
- 11:53taking place at his home. Seems like they have also
- 11:56captured several Evps or electronic voice phenomena as
- 12:01part of those investigation sessions.
- 12:04I will be linking Shawn Robinson's YouTube channel below
- 12:07so you can go see for yourself if you wish to do so.
- 12:11And before we conclude this odd story, first let us speculate as
- 12:15to what could be happening starting from the beginning.
- 12:19Shawn's grandmother came into possession of the painting, but
- 12:23how did she receive it? Did she purchase it or was it a
- 12:27gift? And if so, from who?
- 12:31With these questions, we are only left with more Just how
- 12:34could she or anyone have become aware of the supposed back story
- 12:39of how the painting came to be if the artist is unknown?
- 12:43Perhaps the person who sold it or gifted it to her knew them
- 12:48but kept them unnamed. Perhaps they painted under a pen
- 12:51name and upon their death their true identity was lost.
- 12:56It's hard to say. Upon her initial experiences of
- 13:00seeing the apparition of a large man wandering throughout her
- 13:03home and crying out, I'm curious if she saw any sort of religious
- 13:09or paranormal help. I'm also curious if she lived
- 13:12alone at the time her with her husband.
- 13:16But regardless of her living situation, those would be
- 13:19terrifying things to see and deal with.
- 13:23But in my opinion they would be made so much worse if you were
- 13:26alone, let alone by yourself An elderly.
- 13:30And it seems like paranormal forces such as these, the ones
- 13:33that are perceived to be evil, tend to feed off of human fear
- 13:38like an energy source. These manifestations would lead
- 13:42her to Vanquish the painting into her attic after having it
- 13:46on display for five years for the next 25 years.
- 13:50I wonder why she didn't get rid of it though.
- 13:53Did she fear it would come back, or that the activity would
- 13:57somehow be worse? And with the painting being in
- 14:00the attic, I wonder if anyone went up there and experienced
- 14:04anything, or if she ever heard any noises coming from the attic
- 14:07itself. Because as far as we know, the
- 14:11activity ceased once it was placed there.
- 14:14But that's only a conclusion drawn with very limited
- 14:16information. Once Sean had received the
- 14:19anguished man and placed it on display within his home, he too
- 14:24began to experience the same exact things that his
- 14:27grandmother had and more. But from the sounds of it, at a
- 14:32minimum, he and his wife and children experienced the bizarre
- 14:36phenomena. But I'm also curious if any
- 14:39guest who visited if they experienced anything that
- 14:42perhaps we just haven't had the chance to hear about.
- 14:46And yet another question, just why would someone want to
- 14:49display something so hideous in their house?
- 14:52I mean, the mere side of this painting gives me an eerie vibe.
- 14:56It's dark, soulless eyes and muted screams of terror upon its
- 15:01red face are more than enough for me.
- 15:04I can almost imagine this thing stalking me from the shadows and
- 15:08sneaking up on me with a horrific sound emanating from
- 15:12its face as it smothers me or something.
- 15:16But besides provoking the imagination in a positive or
- 15:19negative manner, if I woke up and saw the anguished man in the
- 15:23flesh from the painting, that would be it for me.
- 15:27I would absolutely seek some kind of assistance and or burn
- 15:30the thing. It's hard to say exactly what
- 15:33one should or would do given the situation until they find
- 15:37themselves experiencing it, but I have to say the Robinson
- 15:41family's experiences sound absolutely terror inducing.
- 15:46There are many theories as to what the entity could be or what
- 15:50the activity could be caused by. It seems like the majority of
- 15:54researchers of this case, myself now included, believe the
- 15:58haunting to be an intelligent one, meaning that an entity can
- 16:02communicate with the living and even physically attack.
- 16:06But others seem to think that the entity isn't stowed away
- 16:09within the painting, but rather that the painting is a conduit
- 16:13itself, something that opens a portal between our realm or
- 16:17dimension to another, one that allows in this strange and
- 16:22menacing presence. Could perhaps the insanity,
- 16:26blood infusion, and ultimate sacrifice of the artist that
- 16:30allegedly painted it upon achieving its final form have
- 16:34something to do with this? Was it an intentional decision
- 16:38or goal on behalf of the artist? It's hard to say.
- 16:43And as many people have, I do also have to ask, is the case
- 16:47genuine? Although Sean Robinson seems
- 16:50like he enjoys a good horror movie as most of us do, I would
- 16:53say he doesn't give me vibes of a charlatan or anything of the
- 16:57sort personally. Some people have accused him of
- 17:01making the entire thing up, but I'd have to follow up with the
- 17:04question of why. I highly doubt.
- 17:07He's profited very much from the story anyways, especially
- 17:10judging from his YouTube numbers, and that is in no way
- 17:13shape or form a dig of any kind. If anything, to me it just backs
- 17:18up the validity of his intentions.
- 17:21He seems more pressed on sharing he and his family's experiences
- 17:25in order to seek other people's opinions as to what could be
- 17:28taking place surrounding the painting.
- 17:31More recently, as previously mentioned, it seems like he's
- 17:34perhaps now had some paranormal assistance from a professional
- 17:38group who can maybe give him some more insight as to what
- 17:41could be happening. But what do you think?
- 17:44Answer one of my many post questions below in the comments,
- 17:48or feel free to share your own thoughts.
- 17:50I'd love to read them. As for the Robinson family as a
- 17:54whole, I hope that they eventually find answers
- 17:56surrounding the mysterious oddity known as the Anguished
- 18:00Man. And the rest of us better pray
- 18:03that we don't come into possession of such an item.
- 18:06Because if we did, perhaps the sunken and face of the creature
- 18:10on the canvas will be stalking you in flesh and bone, a
- 18:15manifestation of your fear, watching and waiting to take you
- 18:21back home with it, wherever that home may be in the darkness.
- 18:35When a young woman receives a birthday gift of a doll from her
- 18:39mother, she is first elated, believing it to make a wonderful
- 18:44companion. But when the doll begins to move
- 18:48on its own, it soon reveals its malevolent nature.
- 18:54It will take the. Expertise of renowned
- 18:56demonologists and priests to help free them from the entity
- 19:01that now infests their lives. Will they make it out alive
- 19:06before it's too late? This is the untold story of
- 19:11Annabelle, the demonic doll of Connecticut, and this story just
- 19:16may make you think twice about your keepsakes.
- 19:33Our story begins in 197025. Year old Deirdre Bernard has
- 19:39recently moved into her first apartment with her two friends,
- 19:44an engaged couple named Laura Clifton and Cal Rendell.
- 19:50Her mother had bought her a gift for her birthday and hoped that
- 19:53it would keep her daughter's spirits up and spread joy to her
- 19:57new home as she pursued her education and nursing.
- 20:02Deirdre loved the gift, finding its rosy red cheeks with hair to
- 20:06match to be a fun companion for her new journey in life.
- 20:11Shortly after admiring her new doll, she placed it on her bed
- 20:16with its arms and legs out. For the next several days, it
- 20:20became routine for Deirdre to come home from her studies,
- 20:24spend time with the doll, and then place her back in the exact
- 20:28same position with its arms and legs out on her bed.
- 20:33Oddly, however, after the first several days of this new
- 20:37routine, the young woman began to notice that something wasn't
- 20:41quite right. Every morning she would lay her
- 20:44doll back on her bed before heading to school with its arms
- 20:48and legs stretched out. Yet every night upon her return,
- 20:52she would find the doll in different positions.
- 20:56Sometimes the doll's legs would be crossed and other times its
- 21:02arms. And as the days went on, it
- 21:05would even start to be seen in different parts of her room,
- 21:09often times with its arms pointed outward.
- 21:13But Deirdre's room would not be its only occupied space.
- 21:18The doll would begin to be found in various positions all over
- 21:23the apartment, and Deirdre wasn't the only person who was
- 21:27witnessing these bizarre manifestations.
- 21:31Her two roommates would seem to bear witness to them as well.
- 21:36One evening, Deirdre returned home with her roommate Laura,
- 21:40who was also a trainee nurse at the time, and her fiance, Cal.
- 21:45Upon opening the door to their apartment, they would find the
- 21:49doll kneeling before them. In a chair facing the door.
- 21:54As if it had been waiting for them to return.
- 21:59This not only scared everyone, but especially Deirdre, because
- 22:04she knew for a fact that as per her routine that she had placed
- 22:08the doll on her bed that very morning, it had inexplicably
- 22:13moved on its own. To try and make sense of all
- 22:17this, they moved the doll and then tried to reposition it back
- 22:21into its original kneeling stance, the same one they had
- 22:25seen when initially walking through the door.
- 22:28But each time they tried to replicate the position.
- 22:31Due to the design of the doll, this proved impossible.
- 22:35The movement of the doll, as well as its position now left
- 22:39the trio at a loss for words. The only conclusion they could
- 22:43draw from the situation was that some kind of force was
- 22:48manipulating the doll. Deirdre would place the doll
- 22:51back in its normal position on her bed for the night, but this
- 22:55experience would be far from the last for all of them.
- 23:00Just several days following the previously mentioned happening,
- 23:04a new phenomenon began to manifest.
- 23:08Little notes written in pencil on parchment paper began to be
- 23:13found randomly throughout the apartment, and at random times,
- 23:18the messages included such phrases as help us or help Cal.
- 23:25But despite the messages urgent requests for help, no one was
- 23:29able to figure out just what they were referring to because
- 23:34none of them were experiencing an urgent situation, including
- 23:38Cal. And weirder still, none of them
- 23:42kept parchment paper or pencils. This realization just further
- 23:48deep into the mystery that was now unfolding before their very
- 23:52eyes. At first, they believed that
- 23:56possibly someone was breaking into their apartment to play
- 23:59pranks on them. So in order to check if this
- 24:02indeed was the case, Deirdre and Laura began leaving marks around
- 24:07the windows and doors. Marks that if disturbed, would
- 24:12show later on. They also rearranged their
- 24:15furniture in an effort to ensure that if anyone was entering
- 24:18their apartment unannounced that they would leave a trace.
- 24:23But again, later that night, upon their return from their
- 24:28studies, none of the furniture had been disturbed, nor had any
- 24:34of their marks. Yet the doll had moved rooms.
- 24:39Frightened and perplexed at this point, the trio tried to come up
- 24:43with some potential solutions. But as they individually gave
- 24:47them thought day in and day out, the doll would continue to move
- 24:53on its own accord, positions and places.
- 24:57One day, the three would return yet again as per their routine,
- 25:03to find the doll yet again and another part of the apartment.
- 25:08But this time there was something different.
- 25:12This time they found it SAT with some kind of liquid on its
- 25:16hands. Upon a closer look, they were
- 25:20even more frightened because the liquid appeared to be blood.
- 25:26And this blood was all over the doll's hands as well as 3
- 25:31distinct dots of blood were also on its chest.
- 25:36Terrified, the three sat in the living room and tried to figure
- 25:39out some kind of game plan on how to handle the paranormal
- 25:43situation they found themselves in.
- 25:46Deidre would grab a phone book from the cupboard and begin
- 25:49flicking through the pages. As the group talked.
- 25:53One of her fingers would finally rest on a psychic mediums
- 25:57number. During the brief call, they
- 26:00would explain that they had been experiencing ghostly type
- 26:03activity within their apartment, but they did not inform her
- 26:08about the doll specifically. She would arrive the following
- 26:12day to see what she could do to help.
- 26:16As she walked through the apartment, she began to explain
- 26:19to Laura and Deirdre about the spirit she felt had inhabited
- 26:24the building. The ladies would eventually make
- 26:26their way to Deirdre's room where the doll currently sat.
- 26:31They asked what the medium felt in regards to the doll.
- 26:35Upon examining it. She said she felt a strong
- 26:39presence surrounding the object, but informed the two that she
- 26:43would need to conduct a seance around it in order to discover
- 26:47more information, so a seance was agreed to.
- 26:52As the ritual was conducted around the doll, the medium
- 26:56began to divulge information to Laura and Deirdre.
- 26:59She claimed that she had channeled the spirit of a 7 year
- 27:02old little girl named Annabelle Higgins.
- 27:06She said that Annabelle used to play in the area long before the
- 27:10houses and apartment buildings were there, back when all that
- 27:14existed were fields. Many innocent and happy hours
- 27:19were passed here until suddenly they ended.
- 27:24Annabelle was confused as to what had happened to.
- 27:26Her. To which the medium interpreted
- 27:29to be her death. And since her death, the child
- 27:33had wandered the place she was the happiest, the fields.
- 27:39Once the apartments were built upon them, the halls quickly
- 27:43became a lonely place for her to haunt.
- 27:47With the lifestyles of most modern people requiring work
- 27:50most of the time, this meant that Annabelle had no one to
- 27:54play with. But then one day, two young
- 27:59women brought with them a playful looking doll.
- 28:03Finally she had something to play with again and more so, she
- 28:08had the comfort of two young women who she believed would be
- 28:13more empathetic and accepting of her and would allow her to play
- 28:17with them through the vessel of the medium.
- 28:21Annabelle would ask if she could live in the doll and be with
- 28:25Deirdre and Laura. Touched by the young girl's
- 28:28story, the two women agreed and following the seance, they would
- 28:33name the doll Annabelle and the young girl's honor, a truly nice
- 28:38gesture from the two of them. However, upon agreeing to have
- 28:43Annabelle inhabit the doll and stay with them is when the
- 28:47haunting truly began. Convinced now that they were
- 28:51sharing a space with Annabelle, they began to treat the doll.
- 28:55As a living. Breathing person, it was no
- 28:59longer a lifeless toy, but the young and lonely little girl.
- 29:06Regardless of the two ladies compassion, Cal was not so
- 29:10convinced. He sensed that something was
- 29:13very off in regards to this entire situation and believed
- 29:17that no good would come of it. He thought the doll could
- 29:22possibly be some kind of trickster or a conduit that
- 29:26disguised its true intentions. And in time, perhaps he was
- 29:32right. In the weeks following the
- 29:35seance, Cal began to feel ill at most times of the day with no
- 29:40rational origin, and at night, every night he began to have
- 29:47horrible nightmares. These experiences culminated
- 29:51with Cal waking up one night to find Annabelle gliding over his
- 29:56body. Before he could.
- 29:58React. The dolls hands were on either
- 30:00side of his neck, strangling. Him.
- 30:04Its large void like eyes staring into his as it sought to steal
- 30:10his life. In a later interview, Cal would
- 30:14describe the event like this. While I was lying there, I
- 30:19suddenly woke up and something seemed wrong to me.
- 30:24I looked around the room but nothing was out of place.
- 30:28But then I looked down towards my feet and I saw the rag doll
- 30:33Annabelle. It was slowly gliding up my
- 30:36body. It moved over my chest and
- 30:40stopped. Then it put its two arms out.
- 30:44One arm touched one side of my neck and the other touched the
- 30:48other side like it was making an electrical connection.
- 30:53Then I began to be strangled. I was writhing and trying to
- 30:58push the doll off my chest, but I might as well have been
- 31:01pushing on a wall because it wouldn't move as hard as he
- 31:07pushed against the doll. It would not budget, and just as
- 31:11he felt like he was slipping into unconsciousness with every
- 31:15fiber of his being, he pushed back and finally was able to
- 31:20throw the doll away from him. However, despite A terror struck
- 31:25but relieved Cow, this would be far from the last time that
- 31:29Annabelle would seek to destroy. One night when Deirdre was out
- 31:35of the apartment, Laura and Cow were spending time together in
- 31:39the living room. This relaxing time, however, was
- 31:43quickly interrupted with a large banging sound that emanated from
- 31:47Deirdre's room. The couple, confused as to what
- 31:51it could be, rushed to find the source with Cal headed in first.
- 31:56They threw the door. Open, expecting to see someone,
- 32:00but to their surprise, they were only met with the icy gaze of
- 32:05Annabelle. She was staring at them from the
- 32:08floor as if she had been tossed aside by someone.
- 32:12Cal walked over to the doll and went to pick it up, but suddenly
- 32:17he dropped Annabelle and screamed in pain.
- 32:21The young man winced in agony as white hot slashes lashed his
- 32:26chest. A small pool of blood began to
- 32:29form in the middle of his shirt as he frantically darted towards
- 32:33the door. Laura was paralyzed with fear as
- 32:37her boyfriend had been attacked by something that neither of
- 32:40them could see. The two would run out of the
- 32:43room and back to the living room as soon as possible, praying to
- 32:47God that this force wasn't pursuing them.
- 32:51When they reached the sofa, Laura pulled up Cow's blood
- 32:54soaked shirt to find several large gashes on his chest that
- 32:59looked like claw marks. By now, it was becoming
- 33:03increasingly clear that Annabelle sought to harm them
- 33:07upon informing Deirdre of what had happened while she was gone.
- 33:11When she arrived back at the apartment, the three, unsure of
- 33:16what else to do, contacted a local priest for help.
- 33:21He would in turn request permission to help from his
- 33:24superiors, and his superiors then passed on the information
- 33:29to paranormal investigators. Ed and Lorraine Warren.
- 33:33The Warrens were intrigued by what was allegedly taking place
- 33:38and decided to pursue the case in hopes of helping the young
- 33:41trio. Upon arriving at their
- 33:44apartment, hearing each person's testimonies and observing how
- 33:49the space felt, as well as the doll itself, the Warrens
- 33:54believed the happenings to be a result of a heavy demonic
- 33:59infestation. They believed that the demon
- 34:02didn't specifically haunt just their apartment, but rather the
- 34:06building itself and the land around it that it had seemed the
- 34:11doll as a way in. They further explained that the
- 34:15seance had essentially allowed the demon to communicate
- 34:18directly with them to be invited into their lives.
- 34:23All of those who were present and taking place in the ritual
- 34:27were highly vulnerable spiritually and.
- 34:30This opened them up to manipulation from the demon.
- 34:35Which spun a false narrative that it was instead the spirit
- 34:39of little lonely Annabelle. Then following the seance,
- 34:46Deirdre and Laura had paid credence to the doll instead of
- 34:50ignoring it, which only fed the demon more energy.
- 34:55It would then continue to feed off them by manipulating their
- 34:59caring and maternal emotions. Since the women were powerless
- 35:03to resist feeling sorry. For the little girl who just
- 35:07wanted to play and be cared for. But once the women had accepted
- 35:12the demon into their lives, they and everyone around them became
- 35:17fair game. The entity no longer had to
- 35:20masquerade itself. It was free to unleash its true
- 35:24form. The couple had sensed that the
- 35:27demon was a very powerful one, and given how strong it had
- 35:31continued to grow and infest their lives, given its
- 35:35proclivity to violence, if left unchecked, it would have
- 35:40probably tried to kill one or all of them within the next
- 35:44several weeks. After explaining the seriousness
- 35:48of the situation they found themselves in, the Warrens then
- 35:52contacted a priest they frequently worked with on
- 35:55demonic cases, a man named Father Everett, and Father
- 36:00Everett agreed to come and bless the apartment in an attempt to
- 36:04weaken or drive out the demon entirely.
- 36:08In due time, he too would arrive and conduct the blessing.
- 36:13Once Father Everett was finished and had departed, the Warrens
- 36:17warned the group that if the blessing hadn't driven the demon
- 36:21out, that it at this time was severely weakened, but could
- 36:25potentially come back with a vengeance.
- 36:28Believing the doll to be a conduit at Deirdre's request,
- 36:33the Warrens took Annabelle with them.
- 36:36When they left Deirdre, Laura and Cal were now thankfully free
- 36:42of the demonic entity that had plagued their lives.
- 36:45However, Annabelle's story is far from over.
- 36:50The Warrens problems seem to begin as soon as Annabelle was
- 36:55stuffed into Ed's briefcase. As the couple was headed home,
- 36:59they began to experience engine issues in their vehicle which
- 37:04almost resulted in multiple head on collisions.
- 37:08The demonic entity was causing the power steering and brakes to
- 37:12fail and even the engine to stall.
- 37:16Once they were able to finally get back home, the doll would be
- 37:20placed within the Warren's office, specifically with an
- 37:24edge chair. In the days to come, the warns
- 37:27would begin to witness the doll manifesting paranormal activity
- 37:31within their very house. The doll was seen levitating on
- 37:36several occasions and began to frequently teleport to different
- 37:41rooms and the same little notes written with pencil on parchment
- 37:47paper began to appear with all 2 familiar phrases such as help me
- 37:55and then now help us. On top of.
- 37:59This one evening while she was alone, Lorraine began to hear
- 38:03what she described as loud, rolling growls that reverberated
- 38:09within the walls and throughout their entire house.
- 38:13Following this night, the Warrens would be visited by
- 38:17Father Daniel Mills, the Catholic priest the couple were
- 38:20also working with. Upon inquiring about their
- 38:24dealings with the doll, the priest made the mistake of
- 38:28picking up Annabelle and telling her that you are nothing but a
- 38:32rag doll and you can't hurt anything.
- 38:37As the priest laughed, Ed warned him to never touch or say
- 38:41anything like that to the doll ever again.
- 38:45As he prepared to leave, Lorraine warned the priest to
- 38:48please drive carefully because her clairvoyance had revealed to
- 38:52her an impending tragedy involving a young priest.
- 38:58Appreciating her concern but riding the situation off, Father
- 39:02Mills departed the Warren's residence a few hours later.
- 39:07He would be involved in that near fatal car accident which
- 39:11totaled his vehicle after his car's brakes had mysteriously
- 39:18failed. Upon receiving the news that the
- 39:21priest was hurt but would survive following the accident,
- 39:25the Horns decided to lock Annabelle away and hopes that
- 39:29she would never be able to hurt anyone ever again.
- 39:33They would douse. Her in holy water and place her
- 39:36within a blessed class case. A blessed crucifix would also be
- 39:41placed on the outside of the box, as well as a warning sign
- 39:47asking anyone who may come across the doll not to touch it.
- 39:52The doll was then placed and their occult item collection.
- 39:56Although Annabelle was now sealed away in hopes that she
- 39:59would no longer harm anyone, her power still seems to affect
- 40:04those who visit her after Ed passed away.
- 40:09Lorraine and several interviews. Would refer to Annabelle as one
- 40:13of the most evil objects she had ever come into contact with.
- 40:18Besides numerous bouts of bad luck, some people have even said
- 40:23to have encountered death as a result of meeting her, as well
- 40:27as others losing their minds completely and ending up in
- 40:32psychiatric care for the rest of their earthly existence.
- 40:37One day, a young man visited the Warrens Museum and clearly did
- 40:41not think things through. He went up to and challenged the
- 40:46doll, wanting the worst of whatever it had to offer.
- 40:51He had apparently driven to the museum with his girlfriend on
- 40:54his motorcycle. Upon their departure, 3 hours
- 40:59into their trip home, the man would lose control of his
- 41:03vehicle and would hit a tree at a very high speed.
- 41:08He would die almost instantly due to the impact.
- 41:12His girlfriend, on the other hand, survived but would remain
- 41:17hospitalized for over a year. Was this particular instance
- 41:22coincidence or the demon inhabiting the doll inflicting
- 41:27exactly what it had to offer? Although the Warrens did explain
- 41:32how the demon came into the doll, it begs a bit of a deeper
- 41:36question, one that we've seen reoccurring multiple times over
- 41:41our various coverage of haunted objects.
- 41:45And that is how much attention is too much attention or
- 41:50dedication when it comes to objects, Because it seems like
- 41:54depending on your spiritual state and location, that
- 41:58dedication or that imbuement could potentially open a door or
- 42:03create a vessel for something malicious to make its way in.
- 42:08I know that the Warrens are controversial figures now, even
- 42:13in death, but regardless, they are integral to many of the
- 42:17paranormal stories we have and will have covered in the future.
- 42:22But what do you think? Was Annabelle truly possessed?
- 42:27Was the whole case legitimate or a hoax?
- 42:32And with these questions, you may find yourself wondering,
- 42:35where is the Annabelle doll today?
- 42:38Annabelle remains sealed in the same box she was placed in 50
- 42:42years ago. Ed and Lorraine's daughter Judy
- 42:45Spira and her husband Tony continue to hold the torch for
- 42:50the warrants and their work. Annabelle is on display for all
- 42:55to see at the Occult Museum. And if you choose to visit, if
- 43:00you happen to find yourself staring into her big dark eyes,
- 43:05just know that if you stare too long into the abyss, the abyss
- 43:10just may stare back at you. Can a soul or the essence of an
- 43:26entity become trapped inside of an object?
- 43:30Could one channeling enough energy, dedication and care into
- 43:35something allow an otherworldly presence to possess it,
- 43:40attracting spirits like moths to a flame?
- 43:44We have covered haunted objects here before, such as Akiku the
- 43:48Doll, among others, but this story is too infamous to not be
- 43:53given the time of day, and although it has been told many
- 43:57times, perhaps you will learn a detail or two that you've never
- 44:01heard before. This is the untold story of
- 44:04Robert the Doll and the malevolent monstrosity that
- 44:08stares at the world from behind its beady little lies.
- 44:20At first glance, most people tend to agree that although
- 44:24dolls of all sorts can be creepy to say the least, there's
- 44:28something particularly unnerving about the doll that has become
- 44:31known to the world as Robert. But behind the initial feelings
- 44:36of unease at first glance lies many tales of accidents, tragedy
- 44:41and misfortune, all supposedly at Robert's hands, far too many
- 44:46within his presence to just be a string of awful coincidences.
- 44:51But if an evil force supposedly lives within the confines of
- 44:55this century old child's toy, to come to recognize and understand
- 44:59just what it could be, we must first tell it's story.
- 45:02And to tell Robert's story properly, we must first start at
- 45:06the very beginning. As with many legends, there are
- 45:10multiple versions of the origin story and how Robert the Doll
- 45:13came to be. Having read through most if not
- 45:16all of them, I'll be sharing with you the most agreed upon
- 45:20origin for accuracy's sake in the beginning, and we will
- 45:24explore other theories and origin stories later.
- 45:27In this video, the years 19-O four and a man named Thomas Otto
- 45:32is on a trip in Germany. Whether it was for business or
- 45:36leisure, we can't say, but during his trip, he decided to
- 45:40pick up a gift for his young grandson's birthday to take back
- 45:44home with him to the States. As he perused various shops
- 45:49throughout his time there, he stumbled across a toy that he
- 45:52believed would be the perfect fit for the young boy.
- 45:56Perched on display behind a pale glass window sat a doll.
- 46:00The doll was about the size of a young child and was accompanied
- 46:04by a small dog doll as well. Knowing that his grandson was
- 46:08lonely on the large family estate and was very fond of dogs
- 46:12as well, Thomas believed he had found what he had been searching
- 46:16for and quickly purchased the toy.
- 46:18In due time he would find his way back to the United States
- 46:22once his trip was over, bringing his precious cargo with him,
- 46:26making his way back to the family estate located in Key
- 46:30West, FL to greet his family after months abroad, Thomas and
- 46:35an act of innocence and excitement gifted the toy to his
- 46:38grandson Eugene for his 8th birthday.
- 46:42As soon as Eugene laid eyes on the gift he had received, he
- 46:45became ecstatic. With no other children his own
- 46:49age in the home or nearby, he now for once had his very own
- 46:53friend. His own best friend and one that
- 46:56could accompany him wherever he went.
- 46:59Sitting at around 3 feet tall with his little dog, Eugene
- 47:03named his new friend Robert. But Robert of course needed
- 47:07clothes to fit for years of adventures to come.
- 47:10So Eugene's mother Maria quickly found just what he was missing.
- 47:15A small sailor's outfit that had once belonged to her son but had
- 47:19long since been outgrown. After placing Robert in his new
- 47:23clothes, the two were off to play and soon became
- 47:27inseparable. Wherever Eugene win, Robert
- 47:30accompanied him from hours of play inside and outside of the
- 47:34house to the dinner table and bedtime.
- 47:38His new best friend was everything the young man wanted
- 47:42and much more. Besides constant companionship,
- 47:46Eugene began to confide in the doll, often speaking to him as
- 47:50if he was a person and his own right.
- 47:53His parents, who were first just as elated as their young son was
- 47:57at his excitement over his new toy, began to grow concerned
- 48:01over how close their son was to the doll.
- 48:04But they would initially write off the behavior as most would,
- 48:09since lonely children with their imaginations still very much
- 48:12active will typically invent imaginary friends or adventurous
- 48:17stories to fill the void or lack of friends and real adventures
- 48:22within their daily lives. But over the months since Robert
- 48:26had arrived, they noticed a bizarre shift in Eugene's
- 48:30personality. He began to grow extremely
- 48:33possessive and obsessive over Robert and would lash out at his
- 48:37parents, sometimes violently, if the doll was not in his sight at
- 48:42all times. It would soon appear that
- 48:45Eugene's obsession with his cloth companion and shift in
- 48:48behavior wasn't the only strange activity that was taking place.
- 48:53One night, as she tucked her son into bed, Maria overheard Eugene
- 48:58whispering to Robert, something that at this point had become a
- 49:02daily occurrence. But as she.
- 49:04Closed the door to his room and began to walk away.
- 49:08She heard a deep, guttural voice respond to her son.
- 49:13Shocked and terrified, she rushed back into her son's room
- 49:18only to find him laying with the doll.
- 49:20As per usual. When she asked him just who was
- 49:23speaking, he simply answered Robert.
- 49:28This scary happening wouldn't be the last.
- 49:32About a year into Robert the Doll inhabiting their Key West
- 49:36estate, the Ottos noticed yet another shift in their son's
- 49:40behavior, but this time it was almost the exact opposite of
- 49:44what the initial shift had been. Eugene had gone from a quiet and
- 49:49shy but charming young man to a belligerent, angry, and
- 49:54possessive boy. But now he had become one that
- 49:58was meek, full of anxiety, and constantly seemed like he was
- 50:02walking on egg shells. He had now also taken to violent
- 50:07fits on occasion, as if something was trying to overtake
- 50:11his body and soul. The guttural voice that Maria
- 50:15had heard a year ago could be heard much more frequently now,
- 50:20and just as frequently, almost nightly, it became commonplace
- 50:25to hear what sounded like glass breaking and constant commotion
- 50:29coming from Eugene's room. Upon hearing the turmoil, his
- 50:34parents would rush to discover the source.
- 50:37Upon opening their son's door, they would find his furniture
- 50:40dumped upside down. Other toys of his would be
- 50:44smashed or in pieces, and Eugene would almost always be in the.
- 50:50Corner of the room. In his bed, petrified, while
- 50:55Robert the doll would be in his usual space nearby.
- 51:00Upon asking just what had happened, they would be met with
- 51:04an all too familiar answer. At this point they would ask
- 51:08just who did this? Eugene and his answer would
- 51:11always be Robert. Noticing the activity becoming
- 51:16more and more intense and being a God fearing woman herself,
- 51:21Maria was deeply disturbed by what was taking place in her
- 51:24home and what was taking place to her family, particularly her
- 51:29son. Besides the nightly terror that
- 51:32now plagued them, she was very much disturbed by this guttural
- 51:36voice that she kept hearing. Knowing that her son had not yet
- 51:39matured, she knew that there was no way his voice could reach
- 51:43that deep level of tonality and malice that she often heard.
- 51:49At times, the voice would even shout and speak over Eugene, and
- 51:54unless he was exceptionally good of ventriloquism, something was
- 51:58horrifically wrong. It was if the devil himself now
- 52:01occupied the walls of their home like a stain or a liquid, the
- 52:07presence had slowly seeped in and permeated throughout their
- 52:12lives. One night, as per usual, the
- 52:16family settles down to sleep. As the clouds spiral and the
- 52:21moon now haunts the sky above them, gleaming down overhead,
- 52:26the family's peace is shattered by the horrific screams of their
- 52:30son and the echoes of the sounds of things being broken.
- 52:36Wide eyed and terrified, Eugene's parents rushed to their
- 52:40son's aid, Lantern in hand. The closer they get to his room,
- 52:45the louder the low and horrible voice becomes, and the louder
- 52:50the screams of Eugene become as well.
- 52:54The deep voice that had been growing louder suddenly was
- 52:57silent like the winter's snow as hands touched the doorknob.
- 53:03Quickly overcoming their fear for the sake of their boy, the
- 53:07couple throw the door open to find their son huddled
- 53:09underneath his sheets. His room was almost completely
- 53:14destroyed. Most of his belongings were in
- 53:17pieces or tatters, from what was left of his toys to his
- 53:22furniture to even his clothes. Poor Eugene was shaking in the
- 53:27corner of his room opposite his bed, and Robert, along with his
- 53:33beady eyed companion were in his bed staring at them all
- 53:37silently. By this point, Maria knew that
- 53:41whatever Robert was or whatever inhabited him was truly evil.
- 53:46But unsure of how to handle the situation or what exactly they
- 53:50were dealing with and a fit of rage, she grabbed the doll and
- 53:55rushed to the attic, casting Robert and his canine companion
- 54:00into the darkness above. This would remain his home until
- 54:04a better idea presented itself as to what to do with him.
- 54:08The low groans and screams and breaking ceased in Eugene's
- 54:13room, but would frequently be heard in the attic.
- 54:18With having such a large estate to care for, the family did have
- 54:22a team of servants to care for the property, but their loyal
- 54:26crew, having experienced the strangeness themselves, up and
- 54:31quit. The servants soon became a
- 54:34revolving door with new faces almost always coming and going
- 54:39just as quickly as they started, despite his banishment to the
- 54:43attic. Alongside the occasional
- 54:45crashing sounds and yelling, the family said that they would also
- 54:49hear Robert walking around, the pitter patter of his small feet
- 54:54often being heard echoing all throughout the house, especially
- 54:59at night when he seemed to truly come alive, so to speak.
- 55:04As the years passed, and despite all of the childhood trauma and
- 55:09fear inflicted on him by the demonic doll, unbeknownst to any
- 55:13rational mind, after his parents passing, Eugene would choose to
- 55:18take Robert back into his possession as an adult.
- 55:22Perhaps he did this to ensure that Robert wouldn't inflict
- 55:25terror upon anyone else. Maybe he felt like he had the
- 55:29most experience dealing with him and therefore he was the most
- 55:33equipped to handle anything that could possibly happen as a
- 55:36result of his presence. Eugene in his adult years became
- 55:40an artist and would later marry and have a family of his own.
- 55:45He kept Robert propped up in the window of his art studio known
- 55:49as the Turret Room, which overlooked his front yard.
- 55:53And then Eugene's wife was said to disapprove of Robert's
- 55:57presence in the house and demanded that he be gotten rid
- 56:00of or banished into the attic or basement.
- 56:04For a short time this took place, but naturally Robert
- 56:08didn't take kindly to this and apparently began to make threats
- 56:12towards her by visiting her in her dreams and verbally telling
- 56:17Eugene that if he was not moved back, horrible things would
- 56:21happen to his family. So eventually Robert was placed
- 56:26back in the turret room. Aside from this, I couldn't find
- 56:30any additional information on the happenings that took place
- 56:33during those years inside the home.
- 56:36I would hope and imagine that perhaps Robert had gone dormant
- 56:39during this time, especially since Eugene did eventually have
- 56:43children of his own and hopefully didn't allow them to
- 56:46be compromised by having such a thing in the house.
- 56:50There were, however, reports of passerby's, school children and
- 56:54neighbors feeling a strange presence when passing by the
- 56:57house on a daily basis. Others would say that they could
- 57:01see Robert move, but in the blink of an eye, he'd be back to
- 57:05where he was sitting. Eugene Otto would continue to
- 57:09spend the rest of his life painting in the turret room with
- 57:11Robert the Doll until his death in 1974.
- 57:16However, this bizarre legend does not stop with his death.
- 57:20Upon Eugene's passing, his family sold the house to a woman
- 57:25named a Myrtle Reuter. Upon moving into the home, she
- 57:29noticed sitting in the window of the turret room was a small doll
- 57:34with a sailor's uniform. She thought this to be strange
- 57:38since the Otto family had not left any other belongings behind
- 57:42when they'd moved, but regardless, she decided to keep
- 57:46it. Myrtle soon began to realize
- 57:49that there was something different about this doll.
- 57:52Upon house cleaning, she would typically notice that he moved
- 57:56around the room, seemingly by himself.
- 58:00At night, she would hear what she described as small footsteps
- 58:05all throughout the house. Guess who would visit her?
- 58:09Claimed too that Robert would move of his own volition and
- 58:13that his blank expression would change to one of rage if anyone
- 58:17discussed him in a negative way. Myrtle would eventually reach
- 58:21out and speak with the widowed Annette Otto, who would confirm
- 58:25her worst fears that something otherworldly inhabited Robert
- 58:30the doll. After dealing with his antics
- 58:33for years, she finally decided to reach out to a local museum
- 58:38and would donate Robert in 1994 to the Fort E Martello Museum in
- 58:43Key West, FL, where he remains today.
- 58:47But as with each previous relocation, his story does not
- 58:51end here either. Placed inside his own glass
- 58:54display for the public to see him each and every day, one
- 58:58would think that perhaps Robert's antics would cease.
- 59:02He was of course a natural source of curiosity and would be
- 59:06seen and admired by many people daily.
- 59:09But you would be very wrong. Staff at the museum have claimed
- 59:13to find Robert in various positions within his case, as if
- 59:17he was attempting to break out of it or had been out of it
- 59:20prior and had just re entered it.
- 59:24The Phantom Footsteps is previously claimed by all three
- 59:27families has also been reported, as well as the dolls expression
- 59:32changing from neutral to nasty in an instant.
- 59:37The afflictions first started with the staff themselves, from
- 59:41horrible bouts of rare diseases to relationship breakdowns and
- 59:47marriage failures, as well as unique instances of psychosis.
- 59:52Over the years the Curse of Robert the Doll began to take
- 59:56shape and become a well known phenomena, but it would soon
- 1:00:01spread to many others besides the staff themselves.
- 1:00:05Many people upon visiting Robert's exhibit finding him
- 1:00:09strange to say the least, but often mock him, berate him, or
- 1:00:15just laugh at his appearance. Little did they know that they
- 1:00:18would be inviting the wrath of something otherworldly.
- 1:00:23Shortly after their visit, droves of people began to
- 1:00:26experience shockingly similar happenings to that of the staff,
- 1:00:31varying in intensity, almost as if their punishment was being
- 1:00:36tapered to fit their crimes. From less serious experiences
- 1:00:41like paranormal activity beginning in their home,
- 1:00:44horrible luck and job loss to name a few, to much more serious
- 1:00:50experiences like exotic disease diagnosis, rare cancers,
- 1:00:56relationship disintegration and others, car accidents, falls,
- 1:01:03and even untimely death. Eventually, a warning would be
- 1:01:08added to Robert's exhibit explaining the alleged curse and
- 1:01:12the proper etiquette to approach him with, whether that's to
- 1:01:16observe or take a photo is to not offend whoever or whatever
- 1:01:21inhabits the doll itself. Over the decades, an entire wall
- 1:01:26has been dedicated to the letters people have dropped off
- 1:01:30or sent the museum if they weren't able to come in person,
- 1:01:34begging for Robert's forgiveness, hoping to end
- 1:01:37whatever horrible situation they found themselves in after their
- 1:01:42visit. To this day, there are over 1000
- 1:01:45letters, with more continuing to be added each and every year.
- 1:01:50Could there be more to this legend?
- 1:01:52As I mentioned in the beginning of the video, there is another
- 1:01:56origin story that could explain just what inhabits the doll and
- 1:02:00how it got there. I will also add several elements
- 1:02:03that I found interesting relating to the case itself.
- 1:02:08The alternative origin story says that a young woman of
- 1:02:11Bahamian descent gave Thomas Otter the doll as a retaliation
- 1:02:16for a misdeed. As to why this would have taken
- 1:02:19place is not known, but speculation has led many to
- 1:02:23believe that the girl, or perhaps a relative, had been a
- 1:02:27member of staff at some point or another at the family's Key West
- 1:02:31estate. The retaliation was that the
- 1:02:34doll had been imbued with a spirit that had been conjured
- 1:02:38using voodoo, and by trapping the entity within the doll,
- 1:02:42making it its vessel, it became aware of its surroundings and
- 1:02:46knew what it was sent there to do.
- 1:02:49Although with many details in this case, lots of details can't
- 1:02:53be corroborated due to the age of the story itself, but there
- 1:02:57are a few details that I managed to dig up that are interesting.
- 1:03:01The doll itself appears to have been manufactured by the Stife
- 1:03:04Company, a German family company that was headed by German
- 1:03:08designer Richard Stife, the original designer of the beloved
- 1:03:12teddy bear. And the original design of the
- 1:03:15doll in particular, and others that were similar to it were not
- 1:03:19designed as toys, but rather stage props for the time.
- 1:03:23So it's hard to say if Robert was ever intended as a toy in
- 1:03:26the 1st place. The family tree of the Ottos
- 1:03:30also has conflicting information in regards to birth and death
- 1:03:34dates as well as names, but I did my best to corroborate this
- 1:03:38information and I'll be linking the info in the description
- 1:03:42below. Today, Robert continues to be on
- 1:03:45display and his antics continue to persist.
- 1:03:50He seems to be just as powerful as he was all those years ago.
- 1:03:54The museum keeps a catalogued record of all ailments that have
- 1:03:57been reported as a result of offending him for future
- 1:04:01reference. His reach also continues to
- 1:04:04expand as his legend grows and becomes more and more well known
- 1:04:09across the world. Robert the doll has been the
- 1:04:12inspiration behind many books, movies and podcasts as well as a
- 1:04:18local legend in Florida. And this lesson truly applies to
- 1:04:22anyone and everyone. Have respect when you meet
- 1:04:26someone because you never truly know who or what you could be
- 1:04:31dealing with. And please.
- 1:04:34If you find. Yourself at the East Martello
- 1:04:37Museum in Key West, FL and you happen to come into contact with
- 1:04:41the entity known as Robert the Doll.
- 1:04:45Be respectful, because if you're not, you may just pay the
- 1:04:49ultimate price. Could an item, if given enough
- 1:05:03energy, devotion and focus, begin to take on a life of its
- 1:05:09own? Could it begin to exhibit human
- 1:05:11like characteristics as if it has been imbued with or contains
- 1:05:16some kind of soul or entity inside of it?
- 1:05:20This act of magic has been practiced by multiple religions
- 1:05:23and cults throughout the ages. This is just one very strange
- 1:05:28example that it could indeed be possible.
- 1:05:31After a gracious gift was placed into the arms of a little girl,
- 1:05:36tragedy would strike and what follows would continue to haunt
- 1:05:40the family, the citizens of the village, and would soon cross
- 1:05:44far beyond the barriers of land and sea.
- 1:05:48This is the untold story of Akiku, the haunted Japanese
- 1:05:53doll, and the bizarre paranormal force that possessed it.
- 1:06:06Japan is a very mystical and spiritual place, a place where
- 1:06:11the souls of the past seem to interact with the living.
- 1:06:16Such places where the spiritual energy seems to be most visible
- 1:06:21is throughout many of Japan's spiritual temples, home to many
- 1:06:25religions, the two main ones being Buddhism and Shintoism.
- 1:06:30Thousands of temples exist all over the country, but one in
- 1:06:35particular houses a spiritual artifact that has a tragic back
- 1:06:39story and an even more terrifying story that continues
- 1:06:43to be written to this day. Located in Hokkaido, Japan at
- 1:06:48the Menenji Buddhist Temple is a doll with a bizarre and tragic
- 1:06:54back story. Indeed.
- 1:06:56Although there are several origin stories of how the doll
- 1:06:59came to be and how the temple became its final living space,
- 1:07:03so to speak, all of them have most of the main details in
- 1:07:07common. Therefore, I'll be telling the
- 1:07:10most agreed upon origin story to try and be as true to the legend
- 1:07:15as I can. The years 1918 in Hokkaido,
- 1:07:19Japan and a 17 year old boy by the name of Ikiki Suzuki is in
- 1:07:25search of a gift for his little sister's birthday.
- 1:07:29As he pursues the different vendors and small shops,
- 1:07:33something soon catches his attention and one of the store
- 1:07:37windows. He spots a small childlike doll
- 1:07:41wearing a traditional Japanese kimono.
- 1:07:44Knowing that he had finally found something his sister will
- 1:07:47love, Akiki quickly purchases the doll and makes his way back
- 1:07:52home through the countryside. As the family celebrates their
- 1:07:56little girl's birthday, Akiku is presented with the doll and
- 1:08:01almost immediately, as soon as her eyes meet hers, she falls in
- 1:08:06love with him. The two from this point become
- 1:08:09inseparable. Wherever Okiku is, her doll is
- 1:08:13right by her side. She Combs her hair, bathes her,
- 1:08:18dresses her, and treats her as if she was her little sister.
- 1:08:23The two even share meals and sleep side by side.
- 1:08:27The joy that the doll brought Okiku must have filled Ekiki's
- 1:08:31heart with such happiness. But soon that happiness would
- 1:08:35change to tragedy. 1 hot day. As the little girl played
- 1:08:40outside with her doll, she was bitten by a mosquito.
- 1:08:44This benign insect by it would soon manifest itself into a
- 1:08:48horrible case of malaria. Although the family did
- 1:08:52everything they could possibly do, Okiku would pass away scared
- 1:08:58and gasping for air as she clutched her special doll all
- 1:09:02the way until the moment she took her last breath devastated.
- 1:09:07The Suzuki's plan to have their little girl buried with the doll
- 1:09:10since she loved it so much, but unfortunately, due to either
- 1:09:15governmental or religious oversight at the time, this
- 1:09:18wasn't an option. Instead, after they had laid a
- 1:09:22Kiku to rest, the doll would be placed on a small family shrine
- 1:09:26located within the living quarters of their home as a
- 1:09:30tribute of sorts to their late daughter and their love for her.
- 1:09:34But shortly after the doll was placed on the shrine, very
- 1:09:38strange things began to happen. A Kiki, upon walking past the
- 1:09:42shrine one day, noticed that the dolls hair seemed significantly
- 1:09:46longer than what it had been when it was placed there.
- 1:09:50The hair which was originally shoulders length on the doll
- 1:09:53itself and black was now overgrown with differing shades
- 1:09:59of brown hair also coming through and splitting at the
- 1:10:02ends. Finding this bizarre to say the
- 1:10:05least, he brought the discovery to his parents attention and
- 1:10:09unsure of what else to do, they trimmed the dolls hair as the
- 1:10:14days came and when the family began to have distressing dreams
- 1:10:17at night of their departed Okiku.
- 1:10:20Sometimes she would be scared and alone in the darkness,
- 1:10:24calling out to them, only being recognized by her voice.
- 1:10:29Other times she would blame them for what happened to her.
- 1:10:33Each member of the family at differing times had these
- 1:10:36dreams, and they would soon lead all of them to believe that
- 1:10:40Akiku's soul wasn't peacefully resting.
- 1:10:43These disturbing dreams soon became all the stranger when the
- 1:10:47doll, which they began to refer to as Akiku and their daughter's
- 1:10:52honor, would appear by their bedsides following these
- 1:10:56nightmares. One such incident involved the
- 1:11:00father of the family waking up in a cold sweat only to be met
- 1:11:04face to face with a blank and lifeless stare of the doll.
- 1:11:11Unsure of what was taking place, the Suzuki's turn to their
- 1:11:15faith. After contacting a local
- 1:11:18Buddhist priest and having a cleansing ritual be performed on
- 1:11:21their home and the doll, the activity seemed to grow and
- 1:11:26become stronger. Accompanying their ever frequent
- 1:11:29nightmares and random movements of the doll, the chilling events
- 1:11:34grew into full blown spiritual manifestations during their
- 1:11:38waking life. They soon began to hear banging
- 1:11:41noises all throughout the house and the whispers of a little
- 1:11:45girl. Strange disembodied voices
- 1:11:49varying from high pitched like those of a child to the low
- 1:11:53groans of something unexplainable began to be heard.
- 1:11:58Their lights began to flicker on and off, and the paranormal
- 1:12:02activity seemed to happen more frequently as the calendar
- 1:12:06ticked closer to the birth and death dates of Akiku.
- 1:12:12These strange and terrifying happenings would continue over
- 1:12:15the course of the next 20 years, with multiple religious, priests
- 1:12:20and shamans being contacted and all coming to the same
- 1:12:24conclusion that after the cleansings failed time and time
- 1:12:27again, that the restless spirit of Akiku now inhabited the doll
- 1:12:32she once loved so much. Finally needing a major change
- 1:12:37and unable to deal with the ever intensifying spiritual presence
- 1:12:42that seemed to haunt their home, the Suzuki's relocated to a
- 1:12:46different district. Believing the doll to be the
- 1:12:49source of their various ailments and emotional torture that they
- 1:12:53had endured over the last two decades, they had no desire to
- 1:12:57take it with them. The family had reached the
- 1:12:59conclusion that if their daughter's soul wasn't at peace,
- 1:13:03what could perhaps be helping to fuel Akiku's power or magic was
- 1:13:08the close proximity of her grave to their home where the doll
- 1:13:12resided. So in order to distance the doll
- 1:13:15from the grave, the family approached the Meninge Buddhist
- 1:13:18Temple in Hokkaido and over the years the dolls reputation for
- 1:13:23being haunted had spread throughout the community and
- 1:13:27indeed the majority of the country.
- 1:13:29This was more than likely due to the various interactions between
- 1:13:33the spiritual community and the Suzuki family, finding the doll
- 1:13:37to be mesmerizing and possibly a unique opportunity to commute
- 1:13:42and interact with the dead. If the.
- 1:13:44Stories were true. The leaders and priests of the
- 1:13:47Menenji temple agreed to home Okiku permanently.
- 1:13:51As with many legends, we find lots of details to be
- 1:13:55exaggerated over time, and perhaps some of the details to
- 1:13:59not be true at all. And this is what the priests
- 1:14:02were originally thinking, that perhaps due to grief, the family
- 1:14:06was dealing with other spiritual ailments.
- 1:14:09Perhaps unrelated to the doll, or causing the doll to be a
- 1:14:13vessel of sorts for restless spirits.
- 1:14:16However, as the years came and went, as Akiku now called the
- 1:14:20temple her home, they began to slowly but surely experience the
- 1:14:25same strangeness the Suzuki's had for all of those years.
- 1:14:30Akiku's hair continued to grow and this baffled the priests.
- 1:14:35They would eventually have the hair trimmed and tested, and the
- 1:14:39hair was said to belong to a little girl.
- 1:14:43They found that the entity seemed to be appeased when her
- 1:14:45hair was trimmed and combed, and this led to less activity for a
- 1:14:50time. But the same activity?
- 1:14:53The knocking, banging, and disembodied voices which soon
- 1:14:58plagued the temple as well. No, Kiku's power only seemed to
- 1:15:03grow. Any priest who seemed skeptical
- 1:15:06of the doll or attempted to cleanse it themselves soon had
- 1:15:09their dreams haunted as well, turning their sleep into
- 1:15:13restless fits. Their homes and rooms soon also
- 1:15:18began to manifest the very same activity that the temple was now
- 1:15:22exhibiting. With no remedy seeming to work,
- 1:15:25the leaders turned to appeasement instead, hoping that
- 1:15:29gestures of goodwill would keep the entity at Bay.
- 1:15:33As years turn to decades, and as we've come into the 21st
- 1:15:37century, the priests of multiple generations now have overseen
- 1:15:42and cared for the Dahl known as Akiku.
- 1:15:45And though some of the more violent activity has faded, the
- 1:15:49general consensus is that she is now just as powerful as she was,
- 1:15:53or is perhaps more powerful as she's continued to age.
- 1:15:58It seems like as the more her fame and notoriety grows, the
- 1:16:02more visitors she has, the stronger she becomes.
- 1:16:06She continues to invade the dreams of those who come to
- 1:16:09visit her, and her hair is growing faster and more frayed.
- 1:16:15She's said to drive tourists mad who doubt her, with many people
- 1:16:19even reporting that besides seeing her.
- 1:16:22Strange. Hair.
- 1:16:23And feeling a malevolent presence when visiting.
- 1:16:25Her. They've also had her stalk.
- 1:16:28And appear in their dreams. Some more disturbing and recent
- 1:16:32reports have even suggested that her mouth is slowly opening and
- 1:16:37that if you dare to appear inside of it, you may just catch
- 1:16:40a glimpse of baby like teeth sprouting from her porcelain
- 1:16:44gums. As if whoever or whatever she is
- 1:16:49is slowly turning to flesh and bone.
- 1:16:54The paranormal displays of her power continue to occur as well.
- 1:16:58Her permanent home, located within the menaging temple, is
- 1:17:01her own private shrine where she sits in a small wooden box on
- 1:17:05display. It is here that she watches and
- 1:17:09waits for anyone and everyone who dares to play with fire and
- 1:17:15invoke the power of the entity known as a Kiku.
- 1:17:20But what are your thoughts? Was a Kiku the girl trapped
- 1:17:23inside of the doll? In my opinion, although her
- 1:17:27spirit would be much older now, at the time of her death she was
- 1:17:31either close to or was three years old, and no person at that
- 1:17:35age is capable of true malice to the point to where she would
- 1:17:39become aware enough to begin to blame her parents and then
- 1:17:43torment them for decades to come as children.
- 1:17:47Our parents, or our family, or our entire world.
- 1:17:51So I find it incredibly difficult to think that these
- 1:17:54bizarre happenings were the result of her soul being
- 1:17:57restless and imbuing the doll. What I find more likely, and all
- 1:18:02the more interesting really, is the thought of invocation or the
- 1:18:06imbuing of the doll. Like a conduit or a vessel of
- 1:18:10sorts. Akiku the girl was, as they
- 1:18:14said, inseparable from the stall.
- 1:18:16She fed it, bathed it, took naps with it, and everything else a
- 1:18:21small child would do with that wonderful imagination that they
- 1:18:24have. But could all of this dedication
- 1:18:27and focus accompanied with the tragedy that took place allow
- 1:18:31for a portal to open for an entity, whether non human or a
- 1:18:36restless human spirit to inhabit the doll?
- 1:18:40And by non human I mean a demon. This would make sense to me.
- 1:18:45Something that enjoys and grows more powerful off of pain and
- 1:18:48misfortune or the emotional torment of others.
- 1:18:52As it causes the pain, it feeds off of it and grows ever
- 1:18:56stronger. This would not only explain the
- 1:18:59malevolent manifestations of whatever entity is present, but
- 1:19:03would also explain the still present force and the alleged
- 1:19:07ever growing power of it. And depending on the entity
- 1:19:10strength, it could also explain why the cleansings thus far have
- 1:19:15failed. However, if you find yourself
- 1:19:18taking a trip to Japan anytime soon, or you happen to call
- 1:19:22Japan home if you find yourself in Hokkaido, you may want to
- 1:19:26steer clear of the Managing Temple.
- 1:19:29Because if you don't, the entity that inhabits the doll known as
- 1:19:33a Kiku may just use you as its next feeding source, where it'll
- 1:19:39begin to plague your dreams, making you twist and turn, sweat
- 1:19:45and fear as it grows ever stronger and attempts to cross
- 1:19:50from its world into ours, making our plane of existence its
- 1:19:57permanent residence. When you think of the paranormal
- 1:20:10realm, what is the first thing that comes to your mind?
- 1:20:14Is it a haunted place, a person who's being tormented by unseen
- 1:20:18forces, or an object like a doll that has seemingly taken on a
- 1:20:23life of its own? Or perhaps a little of all three
- 1:20:28and more? But have you considered that a
- 1:20:30vehicle could be haunted? Considering if objects could be
- 1:20:34haunted, it seems possible to me that this story may just
- 1:20:38convince you that something inhabits this vehicle, in
- 1:20:41particular something malevolent. This strange tale over the
- 1:20:46decades has seemed to take on a life of its own and not only has
- 1:20:50it been requested but deserves its very own rendition.
- 1:20:54Here on Mystery Archives, this is the haunting story of James
- 1:20:58Dean's cursed car and whether or not it continues to plague the
- 1:21:02lives of those who possess its parts.
- 1:21:07James Dean, both in the 50s at the height of his fame and even
- 1:21:11today, is widely considered a Hollywood icon.
- 1:21:15Born James Byron Dean in 1931, he was born into a humble
- 1:21:20background in Marion, IN, the only child of Mildred Wilson and
- 1:21:25Wynton Dean. Growing up, he excelled in
- 1:21:28school both academically and athletically, playing varsity
- 1:21:32baseball and basketball, as well as becoming an avid student of
- 1:21:37drama. His efforts would eventually
- 1:21:40land him at UCLA in 1949 after his high school graduation,
- 1:21:45where he began to truly pursue his passion for acting.
- 1:21:49He had first started out as a pre law major, but would soon
- 1:21:53switch his major to drama. His first role in college that
- 1:21:58truly made him consider becoming an actor was when he was
- 1:22:01selected out of a group of 350 other actors to portray Malcolm
- 1:22:07in the play Macbeth. Shortly after this he also began
- 1:22:11acting in James Whitmore's workshop.
- 1:22:14Although he loved acting, his father didn't and his choice of
- 1:22:18major would soon alienate the two from each other.
- 1:22:22But refusing to give up on his dreams, James would drop out of
- 1:22:26UCLA in January of 1951 to pursue a full time career as an
- 1:22:31actor. It was during this time that he
- 1:22:34began to pay his dues so to speak.
- 1:22:37First starring in a Pepsi commercial, then landing a
- 1:22:40series of walk on roles in various movies such as Fixed
- 1:22:44Bayonets, Sailor Beware and Has Anybody Seen My Gal While
- 1:22:49struggling to pay the bills whilst chasing his dreams, James
- 1:22:53also worked as a parking lot attendant at CBS Studios where
- 1:22:57he would eventually meet Rogers Brackett, a radio director and
- 1:23:02agent who offered him professional advice and guidance
- 1:23:06to assist him in furthering his career.
- 1:23:09Brackett would open a major door for James, a starring role in
- 1:23:12the Broadway play See The Jaguar, which would indeed
- 1:23:16continue to open many other opportunities for the aspiring
- 1:23:20actor. Moving from walk on roles and
- 1:23:22movies to several television appearances and soon a major
- 1:23:26role in a major film, he would finally receive his big break in
- 1:23:311953 where he starred in the movie East of Eden.
- 1:23:35It was here that his complexity as an actor and improv skills
- 1:23:39were finally able to shine. Almost immediately after East of
- 1:23:43Eden premiered, Dean would quickly pick up another and an
- 1:23:47even bigger role in Rebel Without a Cause, as well as
- 1:23:51another film called Giant following soon after.
- 1:23:55Rebel Without a Cause is what seems to make Dean a cultural
- 1:23:58icon, becoming not only an admired actor to many, but a
- 1:24:02heartthrob as well to thousands. In 1954, shortly after East of
- 1:24:08Eden had concluded being filmed, James began to take an interest
- 1:24:13in auto racing. He purchased several vehicles
- 1:24:16for the hobby, including a Triumph Tiger T110 and a Porsche
- 1:24:21356. James competed in his first
- 1:24:24professional event at Palm Springs Rd.
- 1:24:27Races held in Palm Springs, CA where he achieved first place in
- 1:24:31the Novice class and 2nd place for the main event.
- 1:24:36He continued to race and would race at Bakersfield a month
- 1:24:39later where he would take first in his class and 3rd overall.
- 1:24:44Really taking to the motorsport. He hoped to compete in the
- 1:24:48Indianapolis 500, but his busy filming schedule unfortunately
- 1:24:52made this impossible. His final race would occur in
- 1:24:56Santa Barbara on May 30th, 1955. During this race he was
- 1:25:02unfortunately unable to finish due to a blown piston.
- 1:25:06His racing career was then placed on hold by Warner
- 1:25:09Brothers, the studio in charge of the film Giant, until filming
- 1:25:14was finished. Dean would finish his scenes and
- 1:25:17while Giant was in post production.
- 1:25:19With the ban lifted, he decided that he would race again.
- 1:25:24However, this time he wanted something stronger and faster.
- 1:25:29On September 23rd of 1955, James purchased a new 1955 Porsche 550
- 1:25:36Spyder and brought it to the legendary Flim Flammer George
- 1:25:40Barris to have it personalized before his next race.
- 1:25:45During the customization process, he chose Tarden seats,
- 1:25:49the number 130 emblazoned upon the hood and the name Little
- 1:25:54Bastard painted on the. Back.
- 1:25:56Just underneath the Porsche emblem on the engine cover.
- 1:26:00Almost as soon as his car was done being customized and James
- 1:26:04began to drive it around, there was a series of omens that
- 1:26:08should have alerted him that something wasn't quite normal
- 1:26:12with Little Bastard. Later that day, on September
- 1:26:1523rd, James was driving his new car around Los Angeles, where he
- 1:26:20met up with British actor Alec Guinness to show him his new
- 1:26:24toy. Almost immediately, Alec became
- 1:26:27very wary of the car. In his personal diary, he said
- 1:26:31this in regards to seeing it for the first time, and this is also
- 1:26:35a summary of what he told James himself in person that day.
- 1:26:39The sports car looked sinister to me.
- 1:26:42Exhausted, hungry, feeling a little ill tempered.
- 1:26:46In spite of Dean's kindness, I heard myself saying in a voice
- 1:26:50that I could hardly recognize as my own.
- 1:26:53Please never get in it. If you get in that car, you'll
- 1:26:57be found dead in it by this time next week.
- 1:27:01After being told that his car seems sinister and that he would
- 1:27:04be found dead in it by this time next week, all James did was
- 1:27:09laugh. Exactly one week later, on
- 1:27:12September the 30th, James Dean and Rolf Vuterach, a former
- 1:27:17Luftwaffe pilot and factory trained Porsche mechanic, we're
- 1:27:22at Competition Motors in Hollywood preparing Little
- 1:27:25Bastard for racing that week at the Salinas Rd. races in
- 1:27:30Salinas, CA. The intent was for Dean to
- 1:27:33transport the car via trailer to Salinas behind his 1955 Ford
- 1:27:39Country Squire with his photographer Bill Hickman.
- 1:27:43But before it could be raced, the car needed some break in
- 1:27:46miles on it to make sure everything was in working order.
- 1:27:50Rolf suggested driving the car to Salinas to break in the
- 1:27:54engine and familiarize himself with his new vehicle.
- 1:27:58He would also ride with him. After having a cup of coffee
- 1:28:02across the street from Competition Motors at 1:15 PM,
- 1:28:06the group departed for Salinas at 3:30 PM.
- 1:28:11Patrolman OV Hunter said he stopped and wrote Dean a ticket
- 1:28:15just South of Bakersfield, CA for driving 65 mph and a 55.
- 1:28:22Hickman, who was towing the trailer, would receive a ticket
- 1:28:25for 20 miles over the speed limit because he was towing a
- 1:28:29trailer in which the maximum speed allowed would have only
- 1:28:32been 45 mph. The crew would then stop at
- 1:28:35Blackwell's Corner on Route 466 for drinks.
- 1:28:40Here they also met up with Lance Raventlow and Bruce Kessler, two
- 1:28:44other racers who would also be competing in the Salinas Rd.
- 1:28:48races. Once they had departed at about
- 1:28:515:15 PM, Dean and Hickman drove W towards Paso Robles 1/2.
- 1:28:56An hour later, a black and white 1950 Ford Tudor Coupe was headed
- 1:29:01E on 466. The vehicle was being driven by
- 1:29:06a 23 year old California polytechnical student, a man
- 1:29:09with a strange name of Donald Turnip Seed.
- 1:29:14Donald made a left on Route 41 and as he crossed the center
- 1:29:18line, Dean, who was traveling around 85 mph, tried to avoid
- 1:29:23him. However, despite his best
- 1:29:26efforts, the two vehicles collided head on.
- 1:29:30The Ford coupe upon the collision slid 39 feet down
- 1:29:33Route 466 and the westbound lane.
- 1:29:37Dean bore the brunt of the collision, but stayed within the
- 1:29:40car. Voutirage, however, was thrown
- 1:29:44from the spider and was laying on the shoulder multiple feet
- 1:29:47away from the scene. Upon the arrival of emergency
- 1:29:50personnel with Little Bastard completely totaled, they would
- 1:29:55have to pry James from the mangled vehicle using a crowbar.
- 1:29:59An unconscious and dying James Dean was then placed into the
- 1:30:02ambulance along with a heavily injured Rolf.
- 1:30:07The closest hospital was 30 miles away and as the ambulance
- 1:30:11rushed towards Paso Robles War Memorial Hospital, they too, as
- 1:30:16if they had been stricken with the worst luck imaginable, would
- 1:30:20also be involved in a car accident.
- 1:30:22Despite the horrible circumstances surrounding the
- 1:30:25initial accident, the ambulance did eventually make its way to
- 1:30:29the hospital roughly 45 minutes later, and although it would
- 1:30:33take months of recovery, Rolf would live.
- 1:30:36But despite the emergency crew's best efforts, Dean, however,
- 1:30:41would be pronounced dead on arrival at 6:20 PM.
- 1:30:45His final cause of death upon autopsy would be determined to
- 1:30:49be a broken neck and internal hemorrhaging as a result of the
- 1:30:53crash. He also had sustained multiple
- 1:30:56broken bones, including his legs, arms and jaw, as well as
- 1:31:02multiple severe external lacerations.
- 1:31:05Donald Turnip Seed, however, despite his vehicle also being
- 1:31:10totaled, walked away with barely a scratch after his death.
- 1:31:15James Dean would be nominated for two Academy Awards in 1956
- 1:31:20and 1957 for his roles in East of Eden and Giant.
- 1:31:25He would also become the first actor to post Humanistly win an
- 1:31:29Academy Award for one in 1956, seemingly being cut down in his
- 1:31:35prime at the young age of 24. Dean's death was an
- 1:31:38unprecedented tragedy, but the story of Little Bastard, despite
- 1:31:43being crumpled in the crash, would be far from over.
- 1:31:47A man by the name of George Beres purchased the wrecked
- 1:31:50Porsche remnants for $2500 later that year, likely with the
- 1:31:55intent to host some sort of an exhibit with it and to sell
- 1:31:59tickets. But after he purchased it, while
- 1:32:02transporting the remains, upon arriving at his shop, the car
- 1:32:07slipped off the trailer and broke the leg of his mechanic
- 1:32:11once it was secured in one of the shops garages.
- 1:32:15In approximately 1 month's time, while Beres was arranging for
- 1:32:19the first exhibit to open, the garage housing the car
- 1:32:23mysteriously caught fire and burned to the ground.
- 1:32:27Even more mysterious, upon surveying the damage, the
- 1:32:32Porsche had sustained no damage from the fire itself.
- 1:32:36Barris would eventually arrange for a second exhibit, which was
- 1:32:40held at a local high school in conjunction with the California
- 1:32:44Highway Patrol. But this showing, too, was
- 1:32:47unexpectedly cut short. When the car was surrounded by
- 1:32:50onlookers and students, it suddenly fell off of its display
- 1:32:56and broke a young student's hip. Getting an eerie sense that
- 1:32:59something was off with this car, Barris then began to sell its
- 1:33:04parts. He would sell the engine to a
- 1:33:07man named Troy McHenry and the drivetrain to William Eskrid.
- 1:33:12The two used parts to build cars of their own and had even once
- 1:33:16raced one another, and both would experience horrendous
- 1:33:20accidents during a street race. Troy would lose control of his
- 1:33:25vehicle, veer off the street, and slam directly into a tree.
- 1:33:31The impact would kill him instantly, and shortly after
- 1:33:38Troy's tragedy, William, who was casually driving his vehicle
- 1:33:43containing the drivetrain of Little Bastard, suddenly had his
- 1:33:47wheels lock up for no reason, and upon turning while
- 1:33:51experiencing this, the car began to roll, leaving him critically
- 1:33:57injured in the crash. He, however, despite his
- 1:34:00injuries, would live while parting out what was left of the
- 1:34:05car. Barris would also sell two of
- 1:34:07the Porsche's tires, which have been untouched since the
- 1:34:10accident that claimed Dean's life.
- 1:34:13After selling the tires, he also installed them on the customer's
- 1:34:17vehicle at his shop. However, upon driving home both
- 1:34:22of them, not one or the other, but both simultaneously
- 1:34:28exploded, causing the driver to lose control and drive off the
- 1:34:33road. They would fortunately regain
- 1:34:36control of their vehicle and despite being shaken up or
- 1:34:40unharmed, George Barris, after selling what parts he could,
- 1:34:44will continue trying to arrange exhibits for the remnants of the
- 1:34:48car to be shown. The 3rd and final exhibit that
- 1:34:52was set to happen was going to be held by the Los Angeles
- 1:34:56Chapter of the National Safety Council as a traveling display.
- 1:35:01However, the truck driver who was hired to transport Little
- 1:35:04Bastard to the exhibit on a flatbed truck, a man named
- 1:35:08George Barkas, would be involved in an accident while heading
- 1:35:12there. He would be ejected from his
- 1:35:14vehicle and would land to the side of the flatbed, and whether
- 1:35:19it was a failure of securing the remnants or something more
- 1:35:22sinister, he would be crushed and killed when the Porsche
- 1:35:27rolled off the flatbed and on to him.
- 1:35:30There would be other mishaps as the twisted Porsche would be
- 1:35:33loaned out to various exhibits across the country and the years
- 1:35:37to come. But when it was on loan to a
- 1:35:39safety exhibit in Miami, FL in 1960, following the conclusion
- 1:35:44of the exhibit, as it was being hauled back to Los Angeles, the
- 1:35:49truck that was carrying what was left of the vehicle would once
- 1:35:52again be involved in a fatal crash, killing the driver.
- 1:35:56What remained of the Porsche, known as Little Bastard vanished
- 1:35:59from the scene that day. And to this day, all these years
- 1:36:03later, it has never been seen again, nor has any of its parts,
- 1:36:09despite collectors and enthusiasts alike willing to put
- 1:36:12up big money for even a genuine scrap of its remains.
- 1:36:16But before we speculate on what could have happened to it, I
- 1:36:20would first like to give my take on the bizarre activity that
- 1:36:23surrounds this now infamous legend.
- 1:36:25To me, if there was ever something that could be
- 1:36:28considered cursed, this once prized Porsche of James Dean
- 1:36:32very much fits the bill, given all that we've learned.
- 1:36:36But just why would? It have been.
- 1:36:37Cursed and how? These are questions that I've
- 1:36:41pondered while researching this topic.
- 1:36:44There, of course. Doesn't seem to be a proper
- 1:36:46answer or even a real speculated one that would genuinely make
- 1:36:50sense that I could find. There doesn't seem to be any
- 1:36:53crazy occult ties to anyone he was involved with, but one
- 1:36:57theory that I did come across could possibly explain why.
- 1:37:01But of course this is just a theory, I don't want people
- 1:37:04getting mad at me. James Dean decides, being an
- 1:37:07acclaimed actor by the young age of 24, was most definitely a
- 1:37:11heartthrob with the ladies. It's been rumored that among his
- 1:37:15various affairs with rich and powerful women, he also had
- 1:37:18multiple escapades per week. The theory I came.
- 1:37:22Across was this. Could it have been possible that
- 1:37:25some star crossed lover or fling of Deans could have placed a
- 1:37:29curse on him? Curses, of course, like anything
- 1:37:33paranormal in nature, are subject to a sense of belief in
- 1:37:36these kinds of things, or so most think.
- 1:37:40Perhaps Dean broke the heart of the wrong person, with Dean
- 1:37:43hitting the big time and also taking up car racing in between
- 1:37:47films or the filming of those films.
- 1:37:50Perhaps one of his girlfriends, rather jealous or heartbroken or
- 1:37:54both, placed a curse of sorts on him, either on him or something
- 1:37:59to do with his new found love for Motorsports.
- 1:38:03How this would have exactly imprinted specifically upon the
- 1:38:07newly purchased Porsche of 1955 goes far beyond my expertise,
- 1:38:12but it is the only explanation I could find that would remotely
- 1:38:16make sense aside from a horrible string of unfortunate
- 1:38:20coincidences. And strangely enough, the man
- 1:38:23who hit Dean having the name of Donald Turnip Seed.
- 1:38:27Turnip Seed, in my opinion, is all too close to turnip speed.
- 1:38:32It's kind of weird, don't you think?
- 1:38:34With all of the darkness surrounding this car, Rolf had a
- 1:38:38very tragic ending as well. Upon his post rec recovery, he
- 1:38:43began to receive horrible letters from James Dean's fans
- 1:38:47blaming him for the actor's death.
- 1:38:50This eventually led to a terrible drinking problem as he
- 1:38:53felt responsible for what had happened.
- 1:38:56He would eventually move back to Germany where he experienced
- 1:38:59many lows including multiple divorces and his final marriage,
- 1:39:04however, seemed to be at the lowest point in his life, having
- 1:39:08been depressed for years coupled with other psychological
- 1:39:12problems stemming from the guilt of the accident with too much
- 1:39:16alcohol in his system. In 1969, Rolf attempted to end
- 1:39:20his fourth wife. He stabbed her 14 times with a
- 1:39:24kitchen knife while she slept. Afterwards, he attempted to take
- 1:39:29his own but failed. He was however arrested and
- 1:39:34would spend a lengthy term in a mental institution instead of
- 1:39:38prison. This would also be his last and
- 1:39:41final. Divorce.
- 1:39:43He would for a short time bounce back as both a Porsche mechanic
- 1:39:47and would also be a racer himself once again, but again as
- 1:39:51well he succumbed to psychological issues, falling
- 1:39:55back on hard times. In July of 1981, he signed a
- 1:40:00contract for 20,000 Deutsche Marks for a feature in ATV show
- 1:40:05discussing the accident and the death of James Dean as he
- 1:40:09contemplated what he was going to discuss.
- 1:40:12He would become heavily intoxicated and later that night
- 1:40:16he would crash his Honda Civic into the wall of a residence and
- 1:40:20Kupfersev. Ironically, like James, he too
- 1:40:25had to be cut from the wreck. It would be pronounced dead on
- 1:40:28arrival at the hospital. Now, where exactly could the
- 1:40:32remains of the Porsche have gone?
- 1:40:35The most likely explanation in my opinion, had to have been
- 1:40:38bystanders who witnessed the crash, and my guess is that
- 1:40:43perhaps they didn't know exactly what they had, but rather saw
- 1:40:47dollar signs. This could perhaps explain why
- 1:40:50it didn't show back up. Perhaps people who owned the
- 1:40:52parts and or the vehicles with the parts didn't know what they
- 1:40:57indeed possessed. But what also makes this strange
- 1:41:01is that they've never shown back up at all.
- 1:41:04There is one transaxle that was rumored to be from James Dean's
- 1:41:08car that was found in a wooden box in rural Massachusetts, but
- 1:41:13from what I could find, it has yet to be confirmed as genuine.
- 1:41:17It was either that people didn't know what they had or something
- 1:41:21terrible happened to them as well and what remains they did
- 1:41:24possess or parts that they had put in their cars could have
- 1:41:28ended up scrapped somewhere, never to be seen again.
- 1:41:32Although I don't want to persuade you one way or another.
- 1:41:35With all the strange, dark and terrible events that surround
- 1:41:40the Porsche 550 Spyder known as James Dean's little bastard, one
- 1:41:44certainly has to consider that there is something otherworldly
- 1:41:48or cursed surrounding this case. But is it a curse, is it
- 1:41:53something evil? Or is it just a horrible?
- 1:41:55String of coincidences. Let me know down in the comments
- 1:41:59below. Either way, this is 1 car I have
- 1:42:02absolutely no desire to see, let alone ride in one that contains
- 1:42:07any piece of it. In a museum dedicated to and
- 1:42:20filled with eerie artifacts, one stands out as the most
- 1:42:25terrifying of them all. Her name is Elizabeth, and she's
- 1:42:29garnered the title of the world's most haunted doll.
- 1:42:33She's said to be possessed, but by what?
- 1:42:38That is the real question. Her story is 1 of unexplained
- 1:42:42attacks, mysterious phenomena and a deep seated hatred.
- 1:42:48Despite her ordinary, even docile appearance, Elizabeth has
- 1:42:53left a trail of physical and psychological scars on those who
- 1:42:58have dared to cross her path. We will be telling her story
- 1:43:02today and the truth, well, that's up to you to decide for
- 1:43:08yourself. I did want to quickly mention
- 1:43:14that I don't know Lee Steer, Sarah Carter or their team
- 1:43:18personally, but having dug into this story and their content, I
- 1:43:23found them to be genuine in their approach.
- 1:43:26I emailed Lee and to my surprise he messaged me back, so I'd like
- 1:43:31to thank him not only for permission to cover Elizabeth's
- 1:43:34story, but for all of the videos and photos used that he's posted
- 1:43:40and overall for just being a supportive and nice guy.
- 1:43:45I think especially with how shady people can be,
- 1:43:48particularly in this field of work, that when you find genuine
- 1:43:51folks you definitely should support them and or support one
- 1:43:56another. With that being said, check out
- 1:43:59all of Lee's links which I will show here and in the description
- 1:44:03and subscribe to his YouTube channels especially and tell him
- 1:44:07Mystery Archives sent me when you do.
- 1:44:10Thanks again to the Ghosts of Britain team.
- 1:44:12And personally, to Lee. Now let's get to today's
- 1:44:15content. The listing wasn't flashy.
- 1:44:26No dramatic title, no haunting back story typed in blood red
- 1:44:30font like so many other so-called cursed objects peddled
- 1:44:35online. But that was precisely what
- 1:44:38caught Lee Steers his attention. He had seen hundreds, maybe
- 1:44:43thousands of haunted dolls for sale in his years as a
- 1:44:46paranormal investigator and curator of the Haunted Objects
- 1:44:50Museum in South Yorkshire, England.
- 1:44:54Most were amateur attempts at cashing in on people's
- 1:44:57fascination with the supernatural.
- 1:44:59A few candles, some fake blood, sloppy stories attached.
- 1:45:05But this one felt different. The dolls photos showed a
- 1:45:09Victorian style figure seated stiffly against a neutral
- 1:45:13background. Her face was pale porcelain.
- 1:45:17The wedding gown she wore had yellowed with age.
- 1:45:21The veil was intact, draped over her synthetic Auburn curls.
- 1:45:27Her eyes, however fixed and glossy, seemed to hold something
- 1:45:32ancient, even bitter. But what truly set the listing
- 1:45:36apart was its warning. It was simple, direct, and
- 1:45:41unsettling. Possessed bridal doll.
- 1:45:44Malevolent energy. Men, beware.
- 1:45:49The seller had little to say beyond that, but what was
- 1:45:52included? Intriguedly, the doll had
- 1:45:56reportedly passed through multiple owners, all of whom
- 1:45:59were men. Each had returned her, some
- 1:46:03within days, citing unexplained injuries, illness and an
- 1:46:08overwhelming sense of dread. The seller themselves claimed
- 1:46:12they had acquired it from someone in Wales, but refused to
- 1:46:16keep it after experiencing activity that they couldn't
- 1:46:21explain. Lee knew the signs.
- 1:46:25He had encountered haunted items before, objects that carried
- 1:46:29traces of emotion, trauma, or, more rarely, what he believed
- 1:46:35were genuine spiritual attachments.
- 1:46:38But this Dolls behavioral pattern was disturbingly
- 1:46:41specific. It targeted men.
- 1:46:45That detail alone made it exceptional.
- 1:46:48So he placed a bid. The auction ended quickly.
- 1:46:53Lee watched as the bidding slowly ticked up.
- 1:46:56Other paranormal collectors must have noticed the listing, but
- 1:47:00none seemed willing to challenge him too aggressively.
- 1:47:03The final sale price was 866.66 LB.
- 1:47:11The number gave him pause, the 666 at the end, a sequence many
- 1:47:17associate with biblical evil. It was likely a coincidence, but
- 1:47:23still, in the world of the paranormal, coincidences often
- 1:47:28take on darker meanings in hindsight.
- 1:47:31Within a few days, the seller confirmed shipment and the doll
- 1:47:36was on her way to the museum. Lee Steer and his partner Sarah
- 1:47:41Carter had curated the Haunted Objects Museum as both a center
- 1:47:46of investigation and public education.
- 1:47:49Unlike Taurus styled haunted attractions, this one was a
- 1:47:53serious endeavor. A collection of over 60
- 1:47:57documented haunted items from across the UK and beyond.
- 1:48:02Each item came with history, alleged activity, and in many
- 1:48:07cases, physical or video evidence of manifestations
- 1:48:13they'd seen furniture that moved without explanation, music boxes
- 1:48:18that played went untouched. Mirrors that refused to reflect
- 1:48:24what they were about to encounter with the doll named
- 1:48:27Elizabeth would. Eclipse.
- 1:48:29All of it. They didn't yet know her name.
- 1:48:32That would come later. At this point she was simply
- 1:48:36another item in the catalog, a doll with a warning.
- 1:48:42The package arrived on a quiet Wednesday morning.
- 1:48:45Sarah met the Courier at the front gate, and the box was
- 1:48:49surprisingly light for its size. Carefully packed, no strange
- 1:48:55smells and no obvious signs of damage.
- 1:48:59Just a plain cardboard container with fragile scrawled on the
- 1:49:02side. Inside, surrounded by layers of
- 1:49:06crinkled paper and bubble wrap, was the doll.
- 1:49:10Even out of her packaging, she was unassuming.
- 1:49:14No overt sense of malice, no inexplicable chill in the room.
- 1:49:19Yet Sarah, who has always trusted her instincts, felt it
- 1:49:24instantly to quote her here. I remember thinking, she later
- 1:49:29told a reporter, This one doesn't want to be here.
- 1:49:34They placed the doll in a freshly prepared display case
- 1:49:37inside the museum's so-called bridal room, a chamber housing
- 1:49:42other feminine themed haunted artifacts, wedding veils,
- 1:49:46mirrors and two vintage photographs with their own
- 1:49:51rumored histories. The doll was placed behind a
- 1:49:54clear Case. No identification plaque, no
- 1:49:58label, just a camera overhead in a motion sensor nearby,
- 1:50:04connected to their internal alarm system.
- 1:50:07Nothing happened that first night.
- 1:50:10By the end of the week, everything would change.
- 1:50:14The museum was quiet at night by design.
- 1:50:17The Haunted Objects Museum didn't allow overnight guests,
- 1:50:21though. Lee Steer and Sarah Carter had
- 1:50:24both spent countless evenings doing after hours investigations
- 1:50:28within its walls. The building itself, housed in
- 1:50:31an unassuming structure in South Yorkshire, had rarely produced
- 1:50:35the kind of activity Hollywood films LED people to expect until
- 1:50:40now. It started small, as most
- 1:50:43genuine paranormal events do. The fire alarms were the first
- 1:50:48to misbehave 3 nights after the dolls arrival.
- 1:50:52Museum's internal system triggered just after 3:00 AM.
- 1:50:57Lee had just fallen asleep when his phone buzzed with an
- 1:51:00automated alert. Fire alarm Zone 4.
- 1:51:05Zone 4 was the bridal room. He rushed to the location
- 1:51:10flashlight. In hand, expecting to find a
- 1:51:13tripped smoke detector or a possible electrical short, but
- 1:51:18instead the room was still untouched and most importantly,
- 1:51:24cold. There wasn't a trace of smoke
- 1:51:27anywhere, no signs of anything being out of place.
- 1:51:31It was the first time the fire alarm had ever activated without
- 1:51:35cause, but it wouldn't be the last.
- 1:51:39Over the next several days, the alarms continued to trip, always
- 1:51:43in the same room, always between 2:00 and 4:00 AM.
- 1:51:48No matter the weather, time of week or number of people
- 1:51:52present. The pattern was consistent.
- 1:51:57Lee checked the wiring, replaced the detector, even called an
- 1:52:01electrician to verify the system's health.
- 1:52:05Nothing was wrong. Still, the alarms went off.
- 1:52:10Lee and Sarah kept a meticulous record of their investigations.
- 1:52:14They began placing digital recorders and motion sensors in
- 1:52:18the bridal room overnight. They didn't expect much.
- 1:52:23Paranormal Evps or electronic voice phenomena are notoriously
- 1:52:27elusive, but it was a standard part of their process.
- 1:52:32One morning, Sarah received the audio files from the night
- 1:52:36before. The recording was mostly
- 1:52:38silence, punctuated by faint environmental noises.
- 1:52:44But at 3:17 AM, the audio spiked.
- 1:52:49At first it was just a low hum, like interference from a
- 1:52:53shortwave radio. But then came the whisper, a
- 1:52:58low, unmistakable female voice that said get OUT.
- 1:53:04Sarah listened to it a dozen times.
- 1:53:07She played it for Lee. Then, through software filters,
- 1:53:12there was no mistaking it. A voice had spoken when no one
- 1:53:17was in the room. They tried to debunk it.
- 1:53:21External radio interference, intermodulation.
- 1:53:26Or perhaps it was an equipment malfunction.
- 1:53:29While the recording device was battery powered, shielded from
- 1:53:33ambient interference, and had never picked up a voice before,
- 1:53:38there had been no human presence within 50 feet of the room at
- 1:53:42the time. It was the first direct
- 1:53:45communication. The doll had apparently begun to
- 1:53:50speak. The sixth night after her
- 1:53:53arrival, Lee conducted a solo walkthrough of the museum, live
- 1:53:58streaming to a modest group of his online followers.
- 1:54:01He moved from room to room, narrating each item's history.
- 1:54:06When he entered the bridal room, the air was noticeably cooler,
- 1:54:11not freezing, but just felt off. He approached the case
- 1:54:17containing the bridal doll and began explaining the recent
- 1:54:20disturbances, the alarms, the voice recording, and the dolls
- 1:54:25curious warning label. Halfway through his sentence, he
- 1:54:30winced, his hand moved to the back of his neck.
- 1:54:34He continued speaking, brushing off the sudden discomfort, but
- 1:54:38within a minute he excused himself from the stream.
- 1:54:43His skin felt as if it were burning.
- 1:54:46Back in the main room, he turned on the overhead lights and
- 1:54:49checked the mirror. His neck bore a deep red mark,
- 1:54:54forming A curved, almost sigil like shape.
- 1:54:58Sarah arrived shortly after and upon further inspection they
- 1:55:03found some marks across his upper back.
- 1:55:06Three fresh scratches then, parallel and precise.
- 1:55:13There were no nails, there's no contact with any sharp objects,
- 1:55:18and no one else had touched him. Lee knew what he had
- 1:55:21experienced. He didn't say it out loud, not
- 1:55:25right away, but later on camera, he confirmed the obvious.
- 1:55:31Something scratched me in that room, he would say.
- 1:55:34I've been doing this for over a decade and that was a first.
- 1:55:40From that moment. Forward, the atmosphere in the
- 1:55:42museum shifted. Staff noticed it.
- 1:55:46So did visitors. Some reported intense headaches
- 1:55:50near the bridal room. Others described feelings of
- 1:55:54dread, particularly men. Sarah herself, though never
- 1:55:59attacked or touched, remarked how the dolls seem to watch her.
- 1:56:04And the more male visitors passed through her presence, the
- 1:56:08more aggressive the activity became.
- 1:56:12Lee documented each event. The pattern was undeniable.
- 1:56:17Elizabeth, as she would soon be called, didn't like men.
- 1:56:23By mid 2024, rumors about the doll had begun to spread beyond
- 1:56:28the museum's inner circle. Paranormal enthusiasts, skeptics
- 1:56:33and curious locals took to social media to discuss the
- 1:56:37strange activity linked to the recently acquired bridal doll.
- 1:56:42Lee and Sarah had shared evidence online, fire alarm
- 1:56:46incidents, the EVP recording and Lee's own scratches.
- 1:56:51But it was a live stream on TikTok that brought the world's
- 1:56:54attention to what many would soon call the world's most
- 1:56:58haunted doll. The event was meant to be a
- 1:57:02casual late night walkthrough, part of the series Lee had been
- 1:57:06producing to showcase the museum's collection.
- 1:57:10His live streams had modest success, drawing in thousands of
- 1:57:14viewers from the UK and beyond. But the Bridal Room was about to
- 1:57:18take on a reputation all its own.
- 1:57:22On a Thursday evening in late June, fellow investigator John
- 1:57:27Paul Kinney joined Lee and Sarah for a collaborative session.
- 1:57:31John Paul, a paranormal researcher and content creator,
- 1:57:35was well known for his rational approach to ghost hunting.
- 1:57:39He didn't frighten easily. The trio planned a TikTok live
- 1:57:43session inside the museum, a special attention given to the
- 1:57:47bridal doll. Viewers tuned in from around the
- 1:57:50world and watched as John Paul entered the room alone while Lee
- 1:57:55and Sarah monitored from outside.
- 1:57:59The setup was simple. The doll was displayed upright
- 1:58:02in her case, surrounded by other feminine relics.
- 1:58:07John Paul addressed the camera calmly, describing the alleged
- 1:58:11reports of physical attacks, particularly toward men.
- 1:58:17He was only a few minutes into the stream when something
- 1:58:20happened. John Paul was mid sentence when
- 1:58:24he abruptly paused. His eyes widened and he reached
- 1:58:29behind him, gripping his shoulder in the back of his
- 1:58:32shirt. What the hell was that?
- 1:58:34He said out loud. Something just grabbed me.
- 1:58:38He stepped forward, turning to check the room behind him, but
- 1:58:43it was empty. The doll remained motionless in
- 1:58:47her case. Viewers flooded the comments
- 1:58:50section, asking what had happened.
- 1:58:53Some thought that he was joking, and others immediately believed.
- 1:58:58It felt like someone just yanked my shirt, he said to the camera.
- 1:59:02Right here at the back of my neck.
- 1:59:05He pulled the shirt forward to show his collar.
- 1:59:08Moments later, he complained of a sharp stinging sensation near
- 1:59:13his shoulder blade. The live stream ended shortly
- 1:59:16after, and later that night John Paul posted an update video.
- 1:59:22The area where he had been grabbed now bore a long then
- 1:59:25scratch, red and fresh, just beneath the neckline of his
- 1:59:31shirt. He hadn't scratched himself.
- 1:59:34He hadn't touched any objects. And.
- 1:59:37There had been no one else in the room.
- 1:59:40It was the first documented attack on camera, and the proof
- 1:59:45was rather undeniable. The TikTok clip was reposted
- 1:59:49dozens of times. Other creators stitched the
- 1:59:53footage into their own videos, offering analysis, commentary or
- 1:59:58simply reacting in horror. Paranormal Forms.
- 2:00:01Picked up the story, a Reddit thread dissecting the moment
- 2:00:05frame by frame, searching for signs of trickery.
- 2:00:10Skeptics debated the possibility of static discharge or staged
- 2:00:14events, but no evidence of deception was ever found.
- 2:00:20And all the while, more stories began to emerge.
- 2:00:25Visitors who had been scratched, men who left the museum feeling
- 2:00:29nauseous or lightheaded, people who had experienced nightmares
- 2:00:35after visiting the doll for the first time.
- 2:00:39The world was paying attention, and the doll, soon to be called
- 2:00:43Elizabeth, seemed to thrive on it.
- 2:00:47Sarah and Lee tightened their protocols.
- 2:00:51Access to the bridal room was limited, especially for male.
- 2:00:54Visitors warning signs were posted at the entrance,
- 2:00:59surveillance equipment was upgraded and every new incident
- 2:01:03was carefully logged. But nothing could stop the
- 2:01:07activity. If anything, it intensified.
- 2:01:12Lee noticed that during busy days, when more mail energy
- 2:01:15passed through the room, the nights were more volatile.
- 2:01:20Fire alarms would trip. Objects would be displaced.
- 2:01:24The dolls case once shifted 2 inches forward on the display
- 2:01:28shelf overnight despite being on a non sloped vibration free
- 2:01:34surface. The attacks too began
- 2:01:37escalating. The live stream was only the
- 2:01:40beginning. By late summer of 2024, the name
- 2:01:45Elizabeth was being whispered by investigators, whispered by
- 2:01:49visitors, and scrawled across social media platforms.
- 2:01:54The Haunted Bridal doll had crossed the threshold, but began
- 2:01:58as a curious eBay acquisition, had now become a national and
- 2:02:02soon international paranormal phenomenon.
- 2:02:06Her behavior was consistent, targeted and now statistically
- 2:02:11undeniable. At least 17 men had reported
- 2:02:15experiencing unexplained physical harm in the dolls
- 2:02:19presence. Each story had its own details,
- 2:02:23but the pattern was always the same.
- 2:02:26The injuries varied in nature but shared common traits.
- 2:02:30Scratches. Most victims reported long, thin
- 2:02:33abrasions on their back, shoulders or neck.
- 2:02:37Often a male visitor would feel a sudden heat or pain while
- 2:02:41standing near the doll. Several described feeling
- 2:02:45invisible fingers tugging at their hair or clothing, and a
- 2:02:49handful of men were so affected that they had to leave the
- 2:02:53museum all together, complaining of dizziness and nausea.
- 2:02:58The attacks happened in plain daylight, under camera
- 2:03:02surveillance and often with multiple witnesses present.
- 2:03:07None of the injured had touched the doll, some hadn't even
- 2:03:11spoken aloud in the room. And the vast majority or
- 2:03:15skeptics, people who entered laughing, mocking or challenging
- 2:03:20the dolls supposed powers, they didn't leave laughing.
- 2:03:26The 17th documented victim was a middle-aged man from Nottingham
- 2:03:30who had visited the museum during a weekend tour.
- 2:03:33His wife was a fan of the paranormal, but he had no
- 2:03:37interest. He'd spent most of the tour
- 2:03:39making quiet jokes, calling Elizabeth a prop, a fake, and
- 2:03:45just a doll in the bridal room. He stood beside the display for
- 2:03:50less than 3 minutes before wincing.
- 2:03:53He told Sarah, who was leading the tour, that his neck hurt.
- 2:03:58By the time they stepped into the hallway, his wife gasped. 3
- 2:04:02distinct raised claw marks were visible across his neck and
- 2:04:08upper back. Man hadn't touched anything.
- 2:04:12He hadn't leaned against a. Surface or rubbed his skin.
- 2:04:15And the marks were fresh and deep.
- 2:04:19When he was shown photos of similar injuries experienced by
- 2:04:22others, he turned pale. He didn't speak again for the
- 2:04:27rest of the tour. His wife later sent an e-mail to
- 2:04:30the museum. In it, she said he's never
- 2:04:34believed in any of this. He won't even say her name out
- 2:04:38loud anymore. As events continued to unfold,
- 2:04:44Lee and Sarah documented each case meticulously.
- 2:04:47It took high. Resolution photographs of every
- 2:04:50injury. In many instances, they
- 2:04:53interviewed the victims within several minutes of the event,
- 2:04:57capturing first hand reactions while the physical marks were
- 2:05:01still present. Some of the wounds healed
- 2:05:04quickly, fading within hours. Others lingered.
- 2:05:10Several of the scratches followed a parallel pattern,
- 2:05:14thin and deliberate, as if from fingernails.
- 2:05:18Others appeared jagged or chaotic, resembling symbols or
- 2:05:23sigils, particularly when the victims had taunted or insulted
- 2:05:29the doll. One of the most disturbing marks
- 2:05:32resembled a crooked triangle, a shape often associated in occult
- 2:05:36circles with binding or vengeance.
- 2:05:41Each incident was reviewed by staff.
- 2:05:43Video footage was cross referenced.
- 2:05:46None of the victims had been alone.
- 2:05:48In some cases the attacks occurred live on stream.
- 2:05:53The evidence was overwhelming. Continuing with the pattern, not
- 2:05:58a single woman had ever been harmed by the doll.
- 2:06:01Sarah had worked in the bridal room for hours, both with and
- 2:06:05without Lee. She had never.
- 2:06:07Once been scratched. Other female guests reported
- 2:06:11discomfort, headaches or anxiety, but never physical
- 2:06:17contact. This gender specific aggression
- 2:06:21wasn't merely A coincidence. The suggested intention theories
- 2:06:26began circulating. Was Elizabeth the spirit of a
- 2:06:30betrayed bride, A woman murdered on her wedding day?
- 2:06:35Or was she something older, darker, an entity that had
- 2:06:40chosen a doll as its vessel and fed on the emotional energy of
- 2:06:45fear and anger, particularly from men?
- 2:06:51No one could say for sure, but Elizabeth was gaining power and
- 2:06:56the museum had become a stage. By the time the museum
- 2:07:01documented its 17th male victim, it was clear that Elizabeth's
- 2:07:05presence extended far beyond subtle chills or passive
- 2:07:09aggression. The injuries were real, the
- 2:07:13whispers were audible, and now objects began to move.
- 2:07:18As the summer of 2024 gave way to early autumn, the dolls
- 2:07:23activity escalated from personal attacks to classic poltergeist
- 2:07:28phenomena, the kind of violent, unpredictable movement of
- 2:07:32objects that had for decades marked only the most extreme
- 2:07:37hauntings. One of the first major displays
- 2:07:40of Elizabeth's physical power occurred during a routine
- 2:07:44walkthrough of the museum. Sarah Carter had been alone,
- 2:07:48tidying up displays while preparing for a weekend event.
- 2:07:53As she entered the bridal room, a glass perfume bottle, which
- 2:07:57had rested undisturbed for weeks, launched itself across
- 2:08:01the room. Sarah described it later in
- 2:08:04detail. It didn't fall, it didn't slide,
- 2:08:09it lifted and hurled through the air.
- 2:08:12I saw it move with a. Force.
- 2:08:14That didn't make sense. It didn't just drop, it was
- 2:08:18thrown at the wall. The bottle struck the opposite
- 2:08:22side of the room with enough velocity to shatter on impact.
- 2:08:27The scent clung to the air like a warning.
- 2:08:31There was no wind, no structural vibration and no one else
- 2:08:36present. The footage from the overhead
- 2:08:39surveillance camera showed the object leaving the shelf and
- 2:08:43sailing in a horizontal arc, not dropping downward.
- 2:08:48It was proof not just of energy, but of directional force.
- 2:08:54Something had aimed it. After the bottle incident, the
- 2:08:59museum began experiencing electronic disturbances,
- 2:09:02especially near the bridal room. Motion sensors would blink
- 2:09:07rapidly, indicating movement when the room was empty.
- 2:09:11Cameras set to infrared and sometimes black out, showing
- 2:09:15only static or sudden white flares of light.
- 2:09:20Batteries and recorders and handheld devices that were fully
- 2:09:23charged would inexplicably drain within a few minutes of entering
- 2:09:28the room during one live stream. A simple digital word generator,
- 2:09:34a device commonly used by investigators to measure energy
- 2:09:38fluctuations and produce corresponding words, flash 2
- 2:09:42messages in quick succession. Those were bride and haunting.
- 2:09:49Lee and Sarah later confirmed that neither had entered the
- 2:09:51word bank manually. The device had never produced
- 2:09:55those words before. The moment was captured live,
- 2:10:00with thousands watching it happen in real time.
- 2:10:03It seemed to be one of the most direct messages.
- 2:10:06Yet another troubling incident occurred late 1 evening.
- 2:10:10As Lee reviewed security footage.
- 2:10:13At approximately 3:38 AM, the surveillance camera in the
- 2:10:17bridal room recorded something subtle but unmistakable.
- 2:10:22Elizabeth's glass case shifted. There was no one in the
- 2:10:26building. No seismic activity had been
- 2:10:29recorded in the area. Yet on camera, the heavy
- 2:10:33plexiglass display case moved forward nearly two inches.
- 2:10:39There was no vibration, no imbalance.
- 2:10:43The floor was solid concrete. The next morning, Sarah noticed
- 2:10:48it first. The case is off center, she
- 2:10:51said. It was flush with the edge.
- 2:10:54Yesterday, reviewing the footage confirmed it.
- 2:10:58The case hadn't fallen or been struck, and it slid with
- 2:11:03delivery control toward the center of the room, as if
- 2:11:07further seeking attention, as if Elizabeth wanted to be closer.
- 2:11:13By now, the fire alarm phenomena had become so frequent that the
- 2:11:17system had to be temporarily deactivated during certain
- 2:11:21hours, always the same zone and always around 3:00 AM.
- 2:11:28In tandem with these events, the emergency lighting system
- 2:11:32malfunctioned twice in September, plunging the bridal
- 2:11:35room into total darkness. Electricians could find no
- 2:11:39wiring issues. Paranormal teams brought in
- 2:11:43electromagnetic frequency detectors, or EMF, which
- 2:11:47routinely spiked near Elizabeth's case far beyond
- 2:11:51typical background levels. Every attempt to isolate a
- 2:11:55natural cause was seeming to fail.
- 2:11:58During one particularly active week, Sarah placed a motion
- 2:12:02activated digital recorder near the doll for a 48 hour test
- 2:12:06period. On playback, the most common
- 2:12:10sounds were soft taps, 3 taps in a row, repeating several times.
- 2:12:17But at 4:12 AM on the second night, a voice broke through.
- 2:12:22Not a whisper, but a voice, One that was female, clear and
- 2:12:28sharp, it said. Why did he lie?
- 2:12:34Those 4 words were isolated and looped and reviewed by multiple
- 2:12:38investigators. No radio signals interfered.
- 2:12:42No background sounds could be attributed.
- 2:12:46There was no logical explanation.
- 2:12:49Some would later suggest the voice was residual energy, an
- 2:12:53echo from a traumatic event. Others believed that it was the
- 2:12:58entity speaking directly. By October, staff members,
- 2:13:03especially male employees, began reporting something new.
- 2:13:07The feeling of being watched outside of the bridal room.
- 2:13:11One man claimed to see Elizabeth's reflection move
- 2:13:14independently of her posture inside the case.
- 2:13:17Another described seeing her veil flutter despite the absence
- 2:13:22of airflow. 1 even claimed that her eyes had shifted direction
- 2:13:27overnight. A photo comparison showed a
- 2:13:30subtle but disturbing difference.
- 2:13:34The gaze had moved slightly left.
- 2:13:37These events were not confirmed scientifically, but they added
- 2:13:41to the growing fear. Elizabeth was no longer content
- 2:13:45to simply sit behind glass. She wanted out.
- 2:13:51The doll had a name now, though no written tag accompanied her
- 2:13:55when she arrived, and no official documentation had ever
- 2:13:58identified her as such. The staff and visitors began
- 2:14:02calling her Elizabeth. The name emerged organically, as
- 2:14:08though whispered collectively and unprompted.
- 2:14:12Some claimed they simply felt that it was her name.
- 2:14:15Others said it was the only word that came to mind when standing
- 2:14:19near her. And so Elizabeth she became.
- 2:14:24But just who or what was Elizabeth?
- 2:14:28What spirit or force now occupied the worn porcelain
- 2:14:32shell of a Victorian bridal doll?
- 2:14:36Theories abounded. None could be proven.
- 2:14:39But taken together they painted a picture more disturbing than
- 2:14:43anyone had expected. The most commonly circulated
- 2:14:48explanation was the most human. Elizabeth had once been a living
- 2:14:52woman, possibly from the late 19th or early 20th century, a
- 2:14:58young bride, one that was wronged and betrayed.
- 2:15:02Her behavior, particularly her aggression towards men,
- 2:15:06suggested personal trauma. Some guests who had spoken aloud
- 2:15:11to her claim to hear tapping in response, but only if they asked
- 2:15:15emotionally charged questions such as did he hurt you?
- 2:15:21Were you left at the altar? Was it your wedding day?
- 2:15:26While the doll had never spoken her origin aloud, patterns and
- 2:15:30behavior supported the idea of heartbreak, vengeance, and a
- 2:15:34gender specific trauma. The fact that no woman had ever
- 2:15:38been scratched, burned, or otherwise harmed by Elizabeth
- 2:15:43was difficult to ignore. If the spirit attached to the
- 2:15:46doll was indeed that of a betrayed bride, she was reliving
- 2:15:51her fury, and every man who entered the room was a potential
- 2:15:55stand in for the one who had wronged her.
- 2:15:59Another, less personal theory suggested that the doll may have
- 2:16:03become a vessel for displaced grief.
- 2:16:07Historically, dolls have been used as mourning objects, gifts
- 2:16:11to children after the death of a sibling, or keepsakes buried
- 2:16:15with the deceased. Some researchers in the
- 2:16:18paranormal field theorize that extreme grief, particularly
- 2:16:22sudden and violent loss, can act as a magnet for spiritual
- 2:16:27energy. If the doll had once belonged to
- 2:16:30a woman who died tragically, perhaps on or near her wedding
- 2:16:34day, it's possible that the energy remained gradually
- 2:16:39growing stronger as the doll passed from one home to another.
- 2:16:44Several owners, according to the original eBay listing, had
- 2:16:48returned the doll in haste after experiencing disturbing energy,
- 2:16:52including visions, oppressive moods and physical attacks.
- 2:16:58Notably, all owners were male. The timeline of ownership was
- 2:17:03never fully disclosed, but it was confirmed by the seller and
- 2:17:07Lee Steer that multiple men had indeed returned the doll in
- 2:17:11fear, and some within days. Whatever her origin, the force
- 2:17:16within Elizabeth was consistent in its hostility.
- 2:17:21A more ominous possibility has been floated by several
- 2:17:24investigators, including Lee himself.
- 2:17:27Could Elizabeth be a host to a non human spirit?
- 2:17:32Demonology teaches that certain malevolent entities can mimic
- 2:17:36the behavior of ghosts, adopting personas, names, or emotional
- 2:17:42triggers to gain attention or energy from their hosts.
- 2:17:47Over time, their behavior becomes more violent,
- 2:17:51manipulative, and dangerous. The pentagram like Scratch that
- 2:17:56appeared on Lee's back during an early encounter raised concerns.
- 2:18:01While pentagrams are not inherently satanic, their misuse
- 2:18:06or sudden appearance during a haunting is often interpreted as
- 2:18:10a sign of spiritual deception or darker forces.
- 2:18:15Other signs, too, support this theory.
- 2:18:18Objects being thrown across the room.
- 2:18:21Dramatic temperature fluctuations.
- 2:18:23The fire alarms triggering at precise hours, voice recordings
- 2:18:28that include cryptic, disturbing phrases and attacks that seem to
- 2:18:33escalate with attention. It is known that Elizabeth's
- 2:18:38aggression intensified after the doll began gaining popularity
- 2:18:41online. The more views, comments, and
- 2:18:44reactions that she garnered, the more incidents occurred in the
- 2:18:48museum. Could the entity be feeding off
- 2:18:52the energy of fear and fascination?
- 2:18:55And if so. Was it always there?
- 2:18:59Had something darker found its way in?
- 2:19:02To this day, no definitive identity has been confirmed for
- 2:19:06Elizabeth. No registry, no birth record.
- 2:19:10No violent death tied to the doll's specific form has ever
- 2:19:14been uncovered, but those who've encountered her rarely leave
- 2:19:19unaffected, and those who mock her often regretted.
- 2:19:23Whether she was a grieving woman, an angry bride, or
- 2:19:28something far older and darker, the entity known as Elizabeth
- 2:19:33has made her purpose clear. She was not finished.
- 2:19:37She was only just beginning. By the first half of 2025,
- 2:19:43Elizabeth had become a contender as one of the most infamous
- 2:19:47haunted objects in the world. The longer an obscure eBay
- 2:19:51curiosity, the doll had risen to full blown notoriety.
- 2:19:56Through hundreds of thousands of views across TikTok, YouTube,
- 2:20:01Instagram and paranormal forums. Journalists from major outlets
- 2:20:06began covering her story. She was featured in articles
- 2:20:09across the UK, India and the US, often accompanied by headlines
- 2:20:15branding her as the world's most haunted doll.
- 2:20:19The bridal doll that hates men in a possessed relic that's left
- 2:20:2317 men injured. And all the while, she sat in
- 2:20:27her case in the Haunted Objects Museum and Rotterdam, completely
- 2:20:32still, entirely silent, and somehow more alive than ever.
- 2:20:39The museum remained open to the public, though it operated under
- 2:20:42stricter protocols when it came to Elizabeth.
- 2:20:46A formal warning sign was posted at the entrance of the bridal
- 2:20:49room. This exhibit includes a haunted
- 2:20:52bridal doll associated with numerous unexplained injuries to
- 2:20:56male visitors. Physical contact is prohibited.
- 2:21:01Enter at your own risk. Museum also implemented a gender
- 2:21:05based advisory. Male visitors were advised to
- 2:21:09keep a distance from the display.
- 2:21:11Some were required to sign the disclaimer if they wish to enter
- 2:21:15the bridal room during solo investigations or live stream
- 2:21:19events. Tour guides, including Lee
- 2:21:22himself, began avoiding long stays in the room, especially
- 2:21:27when alone. The bridal display case remained
- 2:21:31secured behind plexiglass motion sensors and infrared cameras
- 2:21:36were installed permanently recording around the clock.
- 2:21:40The system logged countless anomalous events, temperature
- 2:21:44shifts, light fluctuations. The most unsettling of all the
- 2:21:50movement of the case itself. Elizabeth, it seemed, continued
- 2:21:55to shift inside. Her display even went untouched.
- 2:22:00Though most of the documented attacks occurred in 2024, new
- 2:22:05incidents continued into 2025. Male visitor #18 entered the
- 2:22:10bridal room in early January. A university student visiting
- 2:22:15from Birmingham, he had heard of Elizabeth online and wanted to
- 2:22:19see what the hype was about. Within 10 minutes, he felt a
- 2:22:24sharp pain in his ribs. He lifted his shirt in the
- 2:22:27hallway, revealing 3 thin, bloody scratches that were
- 2:22:32carved into his side. Security footage showed he had
- 2:22:36not touched anything. No sharp surfaces were nearby.
- 2:22:40He had been alone in the room except for the doll.
- 2:22:45He declined medical attention but left the museum immediately.
- 2:22:50His only words on the way out were.
- 2:22:53She did it. A few weeks later, a staff
- 2:22:57member, newly hired, reported his ID badge being pulled off
- 2:23:01his neck and flung to the door while adjusting lighting in the
- 2:23:05room. He would quit three days later.
- 2:23:09To this day, the staff logs each new experience and the list
- 2:23:15continues to grow. Elizabeth's reputation became a
- 2:23:19draw on its own right. Visitors flock from across the
- 2:23:22UK to Sere. Lee and Sarah were invited to
- 2:23:26speak at conventions and online panels, and Elizabeth was always
- 2:23:30the centerpiece of the discussion.
- 2:23:33She's unlike anything else in the museum, Sarah said in 2025
- 2:23:37during an interview. Most haunted items, they act
- 2:23:41once, maybe twice, then go dormant.
- 2:23:45Elizabeth is consistent. She's deliberate.
- 2:23:49The Dolls presence also inspired a surge in spiritual interests.
- 2:23:53Mediums, demonologists and psychics requested private
- 2:23:58sessions to read the energy around her.
- 2:24:01Some claims she contained not one but multiple entities, a
- 2:24:06blend of human grief and something far darker. 1
- 2:24:10sidekick, after spending 6 minutes near her case, abruptly
- 2:24:14left the museum and refused to return.
- 2:24:18She later wrote in a private message that there's a woman in
- 2:24:21that doll, but there's something else, something behind her.
- 2:24:27As of now, Elizabeth remains behind plexiglass, still within
- 2:24:31the museum. No cleansing rituals have been
- 2:24:34attempted. Lee and Sarah fear provoking
- 2:24:38her. No spiritual medium has
- 2:24:40suggested moving her, and no one, not even skeptics, have
- 2:24:45attempted to remove her from the building.
- 2:24:48She's considered the museum's most dangerous item, not because
- 2:24:52of what she says or how she looks, but because of what she
- 2:24:56does consistently, quietly, and without warning.
- 2:25:03Elizabeth doesn't need to scream.
- 2:25:05She doesn't need to cry, really, she doesn't even need to move.
- 2:25:10Her silence is enough. And for those who dare to
- 2:25:14question her power, she's always just watching.
- 2:25:19Elizabeth seems to represent a rare type of haunting, not
- 2:25:23simply a residual energy bound to an object, but a conscious
- 2:25:28and reactive force, one that responds to attention, targets
- 2:25:33specific victims, and behaves with recognizable patterns.
- 2:25:39For investigators and researchers in the field, she is
- 2:25:42considered a case study in intelligent haunting behavior.
- 2:25:47Her consistency, visibility, and repeatable phenomena have made
- 2:25:51her one of the few haunted objects to offer real time,
- 2:25:55publicly viewable activity. Elizabeth has also forced some
- 2:26:00skeptics to re evaluate the limits of their belief.
- 2:26:04While no scientific body has confirmed the paranormal origin
- 2:26:08of the phenomena surrounding her, the sheer volume of
- 2:26:12documentation makes her difficult to ignore.
- 2:26:16She may not prove the existence of spirits, but she certainly
- 2:26:20challenges the idea that all haunted stories are made-up.
- 2:26:26Also, as of today, visitors who enter the bridal room report
- 2:26:29feeling a pressure, as if the air itself tightens.
- 2:26:33Some continue to feel watched, Others describe hearing distant
- 2:26:38whispers, always just behind them.
- 2:26:41Men especially. Describe a heat on their backs.
- 2:26:46Breath or fingertips. And every few months, without
- 2:26:50warning, someone new is scratched.
- 2:26:54As Sarah Carter once said, you can walk past dozens of haunted
- 2:26:58objects in our collection and feel nothing.
- 2:27:02But when you stand in front of Elizabeth, it's different.
- 2:27:06You feel her. She knows you're there.
- 2:27:10A tourist from Germany visited the museum in the late spring of
- 2:27:13this year. He spoke little English and
- 2:27:17understood even less of the dolls.
- 2:27:18Back story. He entered the bridal room with
- 2:27:21a small group and took a photo of the doll and quietly exited.
- 2:27:27That night, while reviewing the image in his hotel room, he
- 2:27:31noticed something strange behind the glass.
- 2:27:35Through the veil there was another face, not the dolls, and
- 2:27:40not his reflection was that of a woman.
- 2:27:45Her eyes were dark, her mouth was open, and it was watching
- 2:27:52him. He decided to delete the photo
- 2:27:56and couldn't sleep for the rest of the night.
- 2:27:59When he returned home, he mailed the museum a note.
- 2:28:03Only three words were handwritten in German on the
- 2:28:06postcard. She leaped.
- 2:28:08Knock. She is still alive.
- 2:28:24Can a toy be haunted, let alone cause harm to anyone who comes
- 2:28:29into contact with it or views its image with seemingly unknown
- 2:28:35origins but possessing an energy that radiates pure evil?
- 2:28:40The item, specifically the doll that we will be discussing
- 2:28:43today, is rumored to be able to not only affect people who come
- 2:28:48into contact with it in the flesh, but to even have the
- 2:28:52ability to reach you through the screens of your device.
- 2:28:57So if this is something you fear, a risk you potentially
- 2:29:00don't want to take, then I highly suggest you find another
- 2:29:04video to watch. This is the untold story of
- 2:29:09Peggy the doll and the malevolent presence that
- 2:29:12surrounds it. There is only so much
- 2:29:16information available on this particular case.
- 2:29:19All information has been researched using a variety of
- 2:29:22sources including books, websites and first hand
- 2:29:26accounts. Please be aware that some names
- 2:29:29have been changed to protect the identity of those involved and
- 2:29:32with such little information found, I have done my best to
- 2:29:35form the most cohesive story possible.
- 2:29:38I would also like to warn you that supposedly viewing photos
- 2:29:42of Peggy or videos have caused distress, physical issues, and
- 2:29:47more. Shrouded in mysterious allure,
- 2:29:51the toy known as Peggy the Doll is said to house an otherworldly
- 2:29:55essence that radiates A profound feeling of evil intertwined with
- 2:30:01chilling terrors that have ensnared the collective
- 2:30:04curiosity of the public. Believed to be in a perpetual
- 2:30:08state of unrest, it has captivated the minds of many
- 2:30:12since its initial discovery. Now nine years ago, the true
- 2:30:16origin of Peggy is unknown, but the world became aware of its
- 2:30:20existence in 2015. This very year, a woman who
- 2:30:26wishes for her identity to remain anonymous have been out
- 2:30:30at a local garage sale in her area in search of something cool
- 2:30:34to take home at a fair price. As she perused the various bins
- 2:30:39sat upon tables seeing if anything interested her, out of
- 2:30:43the corner of her eye she spotted an adorable looking doll
- 2:30:47with blonde hair, beaded blue eyes and a small wide dress
- 2:30:52adorning her. Feeling some kind of pull
- 2:30:55towards the doll, and feeling as if she would enjoy the presence
- 2:30:58of a new companion, she quickly purchased the toy that in due
- 2:31:03time, she would start calling Peggy.
- 2:31:06But almost as soon as Peggy entered her life and was placed
- 2:31:09inside of her home, strange things began to happen.
- 2:31:14The woman began to have horrendous nightmares every
- 2:31:17single night, ones that were so bad that when she woke up, she'd
- 2:31:22be laying in a pool of her own sweat, unable to catch her
- 2:31:26breath. Day after day, the increasingly
- 2:31:30ominous empty gaze of Peggy stared into her soul, slowly but
- 2:31:35surely increasing her anxiety. And night after night, these
- 2:31:41horrendous nightmares would continue to induce terror.
- 2:31:46In a short period of time, the persistent force made the air so
- 2:31:50thick that you could cut it with a knife.
- 2:31:54Roughly 3 weeks upon the purchase of the doll and the
- 2:31:57start of the nightmares, the woman dreaded inevitably falling
- 2:32:01asleep each night. She had also come to the
- 2:32:05personal conclusion that something was indeed very wrong
- 2:32:09with Peggy. Each night in her nightmares she
- 2:32:13was being pursued by some kind of entity that for the longest
- 2:32:17time she was unable to see. And yet, each night's sleep
- 2:32:22would mirror the last, and each one the story seemed to
- 2:32:26progress. Upon drifting off into
- 2:32:29dreamland, she would find herself back in the same
- 2:32:32terrifying circumstances in which she had been in
- 2:32:35previously, and what she saw was truly disturbing.
- 2:32:40Slowly, the entity that pursued her, which at first was massed
- 2:32:45by darkness, began to reveal itself.
- 2:32:49It formed a figure, the figure of a doll, and over time the
- 2:32:55doll began to become a hideous amalgamation between that of a
- 2:33:00doll and an old woman, A grotesque monstrosity, one that
- 2:33:05would leave her shaking in utter distress.
- 2:33:09This shook this poor lady to her core, especially since she had
- 2:33:13never experienced anything like this before.
- 2:33:16But leaving this to be a manifestation of evil, she tried
- 2:33:20various methods to quell the abyss that seemed to take such
- 2:33:24great interest in her. After Peggy entered her life,
- 2:33:28she tried moving the doll to various spots within her home,
- 2:33:32but that didn't seem to work. She consulted 2 priests at two
- 2:33:36different churches, both of which whose blessings didn't
- 2:33:41seem to work. If anything, this seemed to make
- 2:33:44the circumstances so much worse. Peggy began to move around on
- 2:33:48her own and in conjunction with this she began breaking multiple
- 2:33:53items within the home as well. She finally out of desperation
- 2:33:57moved Peggy into her shed, hoping that with the doll being
- 2:34:00outside of the home that her torment would cease.
- 2:34:05This however failed and if anything seemed to anger
- 2:34:10whatever entity was present. Seemingly exhausting all known
- 2:34:14options at the time, and out of desperation and hours of
- 2:34:18research, she found and emailed someone who she believed be
- 2:34:23equipped to help her and or figure out just what was taking
- 2:34:27place. A renowned British paranormal
- 2:34:29investigator, a woman by the name of Jane Harris who ran the
- 2:34:34organization Haunted Dolls. After a brief correspondence,
- 2:34:39Harris agreed to accept Peggy the doll, so it was placed in
- 2:34:43the post and mailed to her. But as the doll made its long
- 2:34:47journey to Harris's residence, little did she know that she too
- 2:34:52would become one of the entity's victims.
- 2:34:56The doll would arrive in a tan box upon Harris's doorstep
- 2:35:00roughly 3 weeks later when she brought the box inside of her
- 2:35:04home as soon as her foot crossed the threshold.
- 2:35:07She would later say that it was if the whole energy seemed to
- 2:35:11shift within her house. As she unboxed the toy and
- 2:35:15presented it to the first rays of light it had seen in nearly a
- 2:35:18month, she almost immediately began the induction process.
- 2:35:22She set aside a space for Peggy and attempted to establish a
- 2:35:26baseline to see if anything abnormal seemed to be coming
- 2:35:29from the doll. Placing her within a glass
- 2:35:32stand, her and several of her colleagues began to set up night
- 2:35:36vision cameras, digital cameras, and motion detectors.
- 2:35:40After this was done, they examined it with an EMF meter,
- 2:35:45but nothing at first seemed to be odd about the doll other than
- 2:35:49the feeling Harris had upon bringing it into her home.
- 2:35:53They left the doll for an overnight examination to see if
- 2:35:56any of their cameras or motion detectors picked up on anything,
- 2:36:00but after the first night they would discover nothing.
- 2:36:03Despite the lack of findings, the team's protocol would
- 2:36:07dictate that the next step would be to bring in several mediums
- 2:36:11to try and see if they felt anything in regards to the
- 2:36:14object. This, however, takes time and
- 2:36:17schedule, so in the meantime it would have to essentially sit on
- 2:36:21the back burner. It was now November of 2015, and
- 2:36:26approximately 6 weeks after Peggy the doll had arrived on
- 2:36:29the doorsteps of Jane Harris. Strangely, almost out of the
- 2:36:34blue, because she wasn't known to have issues like these
- 2:36:37before, Jane was suddenly hit with an unyielding, debilitating
- 2:36:42fatigue. Barely able to move, she
- 2:36:46remained bedridden for roughly 2 weeks, and that's when her body
- 2:36:50began to be wracked with horrible migraines accompanied
- 2:36:54with nausea. This would cause her to not only
- 2:36:57put a pause on her normal paranormal works, but she was
- 2:37:00also unable to care for her two young children, despite getting
- 2:37:058 to 9 hours of solid sleep a night plus naps due to the
- 2:37:08exhaustion and suffering for several weeks.
- 2:37:12Eris's condition was not improving. 3 doctors had ran all
- 2:37:16sorts of tests and yet nothing was coming back.
- 2:37:20Abnormal blood tests ruled out thyroid issues.
- 2:37:24She had no signs of anemia or any other kind of illness for
- 2:37:27that matter. Left with no other explanation,
- 2:37:31Jane had to consider the possibility, since it was the
- 2:37:34only factor that had recently changed in her life, that
- 2:37:38perhaps her ailed state was a result of the presence of Peggy
- 2:37:43the doll. Wanting an outside opinion, she
- 2:37:46decided to contact a friend and clairvoyant whom she had worked
- 2:37:50with on other cases, a medium named Patricia Redmond.
- 2:37:55On November 13th, roughly a week after being asked, Patricia
- 2:38:00would agree to take and examine Peggy, and for the first time in
- 2:38:04over a month, Jane slowly but surely began to feel better.
- 2:38:09She wasn't drained of energy, her constant migraines and
- 2:38:13nausea were gone, and her skin, which had taken quite the Gray
- 2:38:17tone since she had fallen I'll began to go back to normal.
- 2:38:21Redmond would have the doll for approximately 3 weeks and agreed
- 2:38:25to return it to Harris, but not before casting a spell of
- 2:38:29protection upon it in hopes that if the doll was affecting her
- 2:38:33that it would no longer bother her during her studies.
- 2:38:37Her conclusion, and strangely what would become the conclusion
- 2:38:41of three other sidekicks over the course of the investigation,
- 2:38:45was that Peggy contained the spirit of a woman from London,
- 2:38:49England. It is thought that she is
- 2:38:51possessed by the spirit of a woman born in 1946 in London's
- 2:38:56Holland Park. Who died of?
- 2:38:58A chest related condition, possibly an asthma attack.
- 2:39:02The readings would further. Uncover that the woman was
- 2:39:05persecuted and had a very hard life, that she disliked clowns
- 2:39:10and cats, and that she died horribly and alone of
- 2:39:15asphyxiation, cold and by herself.
- 2:39:19Could this perhaps be why she was so angry in death?
- 2:39:22And why did she inhabit the doll to begin with?
- 2:39:26These questions perhaps will never be answered or have yet to
- 2:39:30be uncovered. During the course of the
- 2:39:32investigation through her social media for haunted dolls, Jane
- 2:39:37began to post updates regarding Peggy the doll, as she would
- 2:39:40with any of the items or other objects the group would be
- 2:39:44involved with. The photos and videos of Peggy
- 2:39:47began to draw visceral reactions from those who viewed them in
- 2:39:52conjunction with strange manifestations of the
- 2:39:55paranormal, and not just a handful of people.
- 2:39:58Over the years, hundreds have poured in, leading most to
- 2:40:02believe that there has to be some kind of correlation.
- 2:40:05These experiences people have had range from horrible
- 2:40:09headaches, anxiety and nausea to shortness of breath, abnormal
- 2:40:14heartbeat and more, with others, their computers freezing upon
- 2:40:19the image of Peggy, light bulbs exploding and in one instance.
- 2:40:24A candle falling over and causing a small fire.
- 2:40:28These are just some of the comments that have been said
- 2:40:31upon viewing the images and videos.
- 2:40:35Upon viewing the doll I had a full blown asthma attack which
- 2:40:39hasn't occurred in almost a decade.
- 2:40:41Are Troomans. I've had a migraine and
- 2:40:44palpitation since seeing your doll.
- 2:40:47Please contact me. J Claire.
- 2:40:51This is so strange. Can dogs and cats sense evil?
- 2:40:55Since I opened the photo of that doll, my little terrier Molly
- 2:40:59has been snarling and growling at the screen.
- 2:41:03I'm a bit freaked out. Jay Carlton.
- 2:41:06One woman, upon viewing an image of Peggy, had a dream of some
- 2:41:10kind of figure was chasing her cat and eventually caught it as
- 2:41:15it was running up to her door. Upon waking up and going to
- 2:41:19check on her beloved pet after not finding it within her home,
- 2:41:23she checked her front door and found the cat no longer alive.
- 2:41:27It was if it had been mauled. Eventually, the doll would find
- 2:41:32a new home at the Haunted Museum owned by controversial
- 2:41:36paranormal investigator Zach Pagans.
- 2:41:39Here she resides in her own space in a glass display where
- 2:41:43people continue to experience strange feelings and occurrences
- 2:41:48as a result of being within her presence.
- 2:41:51But before we go, this case to me poses several questions which
- 2:41:56I'd like to address. First of which, if we take
- 2:41:59things at face value, if Peggy was possessed, why would the
- 2:42:03spirit choose to inhabit a doll and then also cause so much
- 2:42:07torment? I found that if a spirit is
- 2:42:10restless and angry in life, then odds are they become lost souls
- 2:42:14when they die. They may seek something to
- 2:42:17inhabit that would allow them to gain access to people and or
- 2:42:21their homes to which they can take out their frustration just
- 2:42:25like people which they were. If they're evil or angry in
- 2:42:28life, odds are they will be in death as well.
- 2:42:33Were the nightmares the result of an overactive imagination?
- 2:42:36It is pretty well known that some entities like to infiltrate
- 2:42:39dreams. Why this is a thing is
- 2:42:42uncertain. Perhaps to cause distress in
- 2:42:45which they can feed upon. And what about the physical
- 2:42:48ailments? This perhaps could have been a
- 2:42:50coincidence if it hadn't affected so many people over the
- 2:42:54years, or so they claim. The odds that so many people
- 2:42:58would express physical issues or strange manifestations as a
- 2:43:02result of seeing or being in contact with the doll is indeed
- 2:43:06odd. And lastly, was it even a human
- 2:43:09spirit inhabiting the vessel at all?
- 2:43:11Or perhaps something inhuman? These questions and more of
- 2:43:15course, will likely never be able to answer, which leaves
- 2:43:18this case shrouded and yet more mystery.
- 2:43:22So if you find yourself being pulled towards a particular
- 2:43:25item, unless you are vastly experienced, you may want to
- 2:43:29give it's allure a second thought, because this calling
- 2:43:32could potentially open up a nightmare's world of torment,
- 2:43:37harassment and terror. Curses.
- 2:43:50An incantation or seal which when broken or disturbed, is
- 2:43:55claimed to cause things such as bad luck, illness or even death.
- 2:44:01Although most of the claims have been written off as simple
- 2:44:04superstition, there is one curse that caught the attention of
- 2:44:08many and disturbed the world for a time.
- 2:44:13Today we will be heading to the Great Pyramids of Ancient Egypt
- 2:44:17and discussing the curse of the Pharaohs and more specifically
- 2:44:22the curse of King Tutankhamun here on Mystery Archives.
- 2:45:09Ancient curses in Egyptian culture were not typically too
- 2:45:12common, but when someone like a great leader or a pharaoh passed
- 2:45:16away and rare circumstances, curses were placed on the tombs
- 2:45:20and the surrounding chamber walls.
- 2:45:23This was to keep any grave. Robbers or threats?
- 2:45:26Away from the bodies and away from the leaders as they entered
- 2:45:30the afterlife. One of the earliest curses
- 2:45:34discovered was that of the Old Kingdom, which when translated.
- 2:45:38Red. Cursed be those who disturb the
- 2:45:41rest of a pharaoh. They that shall break the seal
- 2:45:44of this tomb shall meet death by a disease that no doctor can
- 2:45:49diagnose. Many others warn of various
- 2:45:53godsmiting the trespassers and or causing immense physical and
- 2:45:57spiritual harm to anyone who dare break the seal.
- 2:46:01These, of course were not taken literally most of the time, and
- 2:46:04although there were many stories of misfortune befallen people in
- 2:46:08the past who had disturbed the various tombs of the Pharaohs,
- 2:46:12several particular events closer to the modern day.
- 2:46:15Is what we will. Be focusing on In the 1940s, a
- 2:46:19young archaeologist named Zahi Hawass was excavating at Kaam
- 2:46:24Abdul Bilo and had to transport several artifacts from the Greco
- 2:46:28Roman site. That day his cousin died in
- 2:46:32exactly 1 year to the day his uncle died and on the 2nd
- 2:46:37anniversary of moving the artifacts, his aunt passed away
- 2:46:40as well. All those that he was disturbed
- 2:46:43at the realization, he continued his work.
- 2:46:47Years later he was excavating the tombs of the builders of the
- 2:46:50pyramids of Giza and he encountered a curse which read
- 2:46:55all people who enter this tomb, who will make evil against this
- 2:46:58tomb and destroy it? May the crocodile be against
- 2:47:01them in the water and the snakes against them on the land.
- 2:47:05May the hippopotamus be against them in the water and the
- 2:47:08scorpion on the land. Though not superstitious, he
- 2:47:14decided to not disturb the mummies.
- 2:47:17However, he was later involved in the removal of two child
- 2:47:22mummies to a museum near the site and from the day the
- 2:47:25children's mummies were moved he began to have haunting dreams.
- 2:47:30He dreamt that two children would lead him into the pyramid
- 2:47:34and then into a hidden chamber and once inside the chamber they
- 2:47:38would decay, taunt him and attempt to drag him into the
- 2:47:43afterlife. The disturbing dreams were
- 2:47:46unceasing and they continued until the mummies were reunited
- 2:47:50with their father at the museum they were being moved to.
- 2:47:54But the curse that arguably got the most attention was that of
- 2:47:58King Tutankhamun. A-Team, led by archaeologist
- 2:48:01Howard Carter, unearthed Tutankhamun in 1922, thus
- 2:48:06launching the modern era of Egyptology.
- 2:48:09During this discovery, Egyptologist James Henry
- 2:48:12Breasted. Worked.
- 2:48:13With Carter. After opening the tomb, he was
- 2:48:16approaching his home and he heard a faint, almost human cry.
- 2:48:20Upon reaching the entrance, he saw his bird.
- 2:48:22Cage, which was occupied by his pet.
- 2:48:24Canary, but not hearing any noise from the bird when he came
- 2:48:28in, he became concerned. Upon approaching the cage, he
- 2:48:32was frightened to find a cobra in place of his beloved pet and
- 2:48:36his pet in its mouth. Word soon got out and local
- 2:48:40rumors began to suggest that the team had indeed been cursed,
- 2:48:45especially after killing and further examination of the
- 2:48:48snake. It was found to be a royal
- 2:48:50cobra, the same that was worn on the King's head to strike his
- 2:48:55enemies. The strange news made it all the
- 2:48:58way to the New York Times on December 22nd of 1922, but that
- 2:49:03was really just the beginning of the mysterious happenings.
- 2:49:07The first death to take place was that of Lord Carnarvon.
- 2:49:12During the dig, he had been bitten by a mosquito and later
- 2:49:15that night had accidentally cut the bite while shaving.
- 2:49:18Just several weeks later, it had become infected, resulting in
- 2:49:22blood poisoning, which Carnarvon then perished from.
- 2:49:26Another strange event tied to the original dig was that of
- 2:49:30Henry Field. Field had been a part of the
- 2:49:32team, and he had found a bracelet inscribed with a curse.
- 2:49:36The curse read, He who moves this body shall have fire,
- 2:49:40water, and pestilence upon him. Paying no attention, he went
- 2:49:44ahead and adorned the bracelet for the rest of the dig.
- 2:49:47Just two days later, Field's house burned down, and then
- 2:49:52during its reconstruction, it was then swept away by a flood.
- 2:49:56Several more people would die under strange circumstances.
- 2:50:00George J Gould, a visitor to the tomb during its excavation, died
- 2:50:05five months later due to complications of a fever he had
- 2:50:08developed several days after his initial visit.
- 2:50:12AC Mace, a member of the excavation team, died in 1928 of
- 2:50:16arsenic poisoning from an unknown source.
- 2:50:20Richard Bethel, Carter's secretary, died six years later
- 2:50:24by smothering, which the person or cause was never determined.
- 2:50:29And lastly, Howard Carter, who died from a rare and aggressive
- 2:50:33cancer. Though many of these deaths
- 2:50:36could be written off as bizarre and circumstantial, it certainly
- 2:50:39makes one believe that there could be something to those old
- 2:50:42Egyptian curses after all. So if you find yourself in front
- 2:50:46of a mummy's tomb, you may not want to open because what lies
- 2:50:51inside could be your doom.
