- 0:25So the Lord's been working on my heart about realizing the
- 0:31circumstances in life that cause us pain.
- 0:34It's always an act of Him to get deeper inside of our hearts, to
- 0:40show us what's inside of our hearts.
- 0:43The Bible says the issues of life, they flow from the heart.
- 0:47And oftentimes when we experience trouble and trials
- 0:50and tribulations and struggles and all these things, we
- 0:54automatically go to fixing the circumstances that are causing
- 0:58our pain. What is it outside of me that's
- 1:01the problem that I need to stop, that that needs to be abated.
- 1:05Cease and desist these issues, these people, these problems,
- 1:09this, this, all these things outside here that we're going to
- 1:12be able to fix how we feel if we fix these things out here.
- 1:18And while that might work for a season, it doesn't solve the
- 1:23root of the issue. Every time we run up against
- 1:26problems, struggles, stripes, the Lord is showing us something
- 1:30that's inside of our hearts that he's trying to touch, that he's
- 1:33trying to deliver us from a wrong identity.
- 1:36He's trying to make right a shadowy place in our hearts.
- 1:39He's trying to light up something we're holding on to,
- 1:42that we need to let go of, something we're letting go of,
- 1:46that we need to hold on to. But it's, it's rarely ever about
- 1:51the circumstances outside of ourselves.
- 1:54It's always about our hearts. Our God is a very, very intimate
- 1:58God. And intimacy doesn't always feel
- 2:00good. It's not always roses and
- 2:03butterflies and all those woo woo good, good feelings.
- 2:06And it's not sometimes there's tears and brokenness and
- 2:10lamentations and crying yourself to sleep and waking up in tears.
- 2:15Sometimes that's what intimacy is.
- 2:16Sometimes intimacy is showing your darkest, darkest things you
- 2:21believe, and that's the kind of intimacy that the Lord wants to
- 2:27partake with you in. Because in those dark places,
- 2:34when His love comes in, when His goodness comes in, it doesn't
- 2:37matter anymore what the circumstances outside of you
- 2:40are. Something inside of your heart
- 2:43has been touched by His love, and that has a greater impact
- 2:48than than altering the external circumstances of life.
- 2:55Whenever something comes up, whenever something, as they say,
- 2:58triggers you, instead of trying to get that thing outside of you
- 3:03to stop, pick up that thing that is being triggered.
- 3:08Hold it up to the Lord and say, look at this, Jesus.
- 3:12Look at this thing that's coming up in me.
- 3:14Look at this rage that's coming up in me, this bitterness that's
- 3:17coming up at me. Focus on this with me, Lord.
- 3:21I want to. I choose to take my eyes off of
- 3:23what's happening around outside of me.
- 3:25I refuse to give Satan any of my energy, any of my pain, any of
- 3:29my sorrow, any of my frustration.
- 3:31I'm not giving him credit for nothing.
- 3:34I'm like, look at this bundle of bitterness, Jesus.
- 3:38Look at it with me. Tell me what it is.
- 3:41Speak to it man. When we do that and we start
- 3:49seeing that the things that trigger us in our lives are
- 3:52really about us and not about the circumstance or the trigger
- 3:55itself, it revolutionizes your person because you can't live
- 4:01from the outside in. You have to live from the inside
- 4:03out. And it really is self deception
- 4:05to think we live from the outside in.
- 4:08We cannot. We cannot live that way.
- 4:13And so next time some strong emotion comes up, instead of
- 4:17pointing outside of yourself, instead of trying to solve the
- 4:19problem by changing the circumstances, look at it with
- 4:22the Lord. Be honest with Him about it.
- 4:25Tell Him exactly how you feel. He's not easily offended.
- 4:29Ask His love to come in and touch those places.
- 4:32Surrender it to Him. You know it doesn't always
- 4:36change the circumstance, but it does change your heart and
- 4:38little by little, that change of the heart changes your
- 4:41circumstances of life. The issues of life flow from
- 4:43your heart and when your heart changes, the issues in your life
- 4:46change. See, I have found in life over
- 4:55the years that He sows his best seeds in the darkest soil, those
- 5:08ancient paths that build humility into the soul where you
- 5:14really get broken. You get so deeply broken when
- 5:20you let the Lord into those places and follow Him in the
- 5:23day-to-day, moment to moment of your life.
- 5:25Being real honest with Him, really, really honest and giving
- 5:30him every thought and every feeling.
- 5:33Not blaming the enemy, not blaming your spouse, not blaming
- 5:36your Mama, not blaming your kids or your finances or the economy
- 5:40or the woo woo weirdo stuff that's out there.
- 5:45When you start getting in there with the Lord and taking
- 5:48everything that is happening inside of you and giving it to
- 5:50the Lord, all that pain, that is an ancient path of deep
- 5:57humility. Deep humility that cannot.
- 6:02It is incorruptible. It's that place that Jesus's
- 6:07heart is. It's incorruptible because
- 6:10that's what He did. That's who He is.
- 6:12That's who He was when He was here.
- 6:14It's what He demonstrated. It's literally taking the heart
- 6:17of the Lord and living from that place.
- 6:20He sows His richest seeds in the darkest places.
- 6:24It doesn't feel like it when you're going through it.
- 6:27It does not feel fruitful when you're going through it, but
- 6:32trust and believe that if you hold on to the Lord in those
- 6:37dark and dreary and depressing and destitute and desolate
- 6:41places, if you look to Him day by day, little by little you are
- 6:49growing into a mighty oak of righteousness.
- 6:53And the day will come where you will look at where you are.
- 6:56And you'll be like, I don't know how I got over.
- 6:58I don't know how it happened. Because he sews in darkness.
- 7:07Darkness was under his feet. Thunderings and lightnings and
- 7:10hailstones and coals of fire. Which one of those things is
- 7:13pleasant? Which one of those things feels
- 7:17good? None of those, none of those
- 7:21things feel good. OK, but in that spot, probably
- 7:27where some of you are right now, they hold the highest potential
- 7:33for growth. It holds the highest potential
- 7:36for your betterment. It holds the most potential for
- 7:40your deep and unwavering loyalty to the King of Kings.
- 7:44It is our soul that does that work.
- 7:47It is our heart that does that work.
- 7:49That's the that is the the place of his, of his interest, of his
- 7:55being. Where he sews the most is in
- 7:58that broken. He doesn't despise that.
- 8:01He does not despise it. Don't think, oh, I got to get
- 8:04this right so that I can be close to Jesus.
- 8:06I can be a good Christian. No, no, no, no, no.
- 8:10If you're in a dark place, that's OK.
- 8:13Make it a productive dark place by leaning into the Lord and
- 8:16giving him your everything moment by moment.
- 8:18Give it all to him. Don't blame Satan.
- 8:21Don't do don't do that stuff. He doesn't get any credit.
- 8:25He's a he is. He is a open show.
- 8:30We shake our head at him and say wow, this was the one that
- 8:33deceived the world. No, no, no, no, no.
- 8:38All those adversarial circumstances, they are here for
- 8:42your betterment. They are here to drive you into
- 8:45the cross. They are here to take out the
- 8:49the weak places of your foundation.
- 8:51They are here to deliver you, to deliver your heart from having
- 8:57mixed loyalties. It is deliverance.
- 9:01It doesn't feel good, but that's OK.
- 9:03That's OK. You can be honest about those
- 9:07things with him. The path of humility is an
- 9:10ancient path and it comes with lamentation.
- 9:13It comes with trembling and fear and not seeing the whole
- 9:18picture. But that's OK.
- 9:21The Lord never gives up. He's not a quitter.
- 9:25It's us who quits. And if you just hold on, you are
- 9:30going to see miracles. So don't give up.
- 9:34Keep going, keep trusting Him, keep listening to His voice,
- 9:41keep holding on to the hem of His garment, because you will
- 9:44overcome, because He has already overcome.
- 10:46Music. Music.
