Trump-endorsed candidate puts red Nevada district in play over stolen valor
What happened
AlterNet reports that Nevada’s reliably Republican Second Congressional District has become unusually competitive after retiring Republican Rep. Mark Amodei blamed GOP nominee David Flippo’s campaign and its scandals. Donald Trump won the district by 14 points two years earlier, but Republicans reportedly reserved more than $1 million in television and digital advertising, while Democrats added nominee Teresa Benitez-Thompson to their “red to blue” program.
The central controversy is Flippo’s repeated association with claims that his two Bronze Stars were awarded “for valor.”…
