Speaker 4: of Auto Group stage Jim Strawn will be there tonight,
• 2:17
Speaker 4: but he's not with us this morning. He's doing a
• 2:20
Speaker 4: little traveling. He will be back, he tells me, for
• 2:22
Speaker 4: tonight in his place doing the Live on the Levee program.
• 2:25
Speaker 4: And she's already rare and to go. She's already in
• 2:28
Speaker 4: studio with me. It's Amy Rain, good morning, welcome to
• 2:30
  Speaker 4: the show.
• 2:31
Speaker 3: Good morning, thank you for having me.
• 2:32
Speaker 4: And also a little bit later on Delica jb Acres,
• 2:34
Speaker 4: who is gonna stop by. We're gonna talk to Amda
• 2:36
Speaker 4: McDonald from the West Virginia Symphony and we'll get to
• 2:39
Speaker 4: your calls and text too.
• 2:41
  Speaker 2: Welcome in now.
• 2:41
Speaker 4: Our good friend Angel gild and Water from the Canal

Speaker 4: to Charleston remains association with this week's Adopt Me Please
• 2:46
Speaker 4: put her the week sponsored by Almost Heaven Interiors of
• 2:49
  Speaker 4: South Charleston.
• 2:50
Speaker 2: Good morning, and Ge, welcome to the show.
• 2:53
Speaker 5: Good morning, I'm happy to be here.
• 2:55
Speaker 4: And I've got with us again. She was with us
• 2:57
Speaker 4: last week. She's gonna be doing the Live on the
• 2:59
Speaker 4: Levee segment day for Jim Strawn. Amy Rain is with us,
• 3:01
Speaker 4: So Amy, Angie, Angie, Amy yet.
• 3:04
Speaker 2: Again, Hello again, Hello again. All right.
• 3:07
Speaker 4: As always, we got our Adopt Me Please put of
• 3:09
Speaker 4: the Week, which is sponsored by Almost Heaven Interiors. The
• 3:11
Speaker 4: pictures posted Dave Allen Radio and Facebook at the WCCHS
• 3:15
Speaker 4: Network Facebook page and also at Dave a seventy on X.
• 3:19
Speaker 2: A beautiful beautiful dog. Angie tell us about Fozzy.
• 3:25
Speaker 5: So Fozzy came to KHA after his owner had sadly
• 3:28
Speaker 5: passed away and there was no other family members to
• 3:32
Speaker 5: take care of Fozzy. He's a big guy. He's about
• 3:35
Speaker 5: eighty five pounds. He might be a little bit overweight,
• 3:39
Speaker 5: so if you adopt him, that's probably not his ideal weight.
• 3:43
Speaker 5: But he's best with calm dogs. He doesn't really like
• 3:46
Speaker 5: to play that much. He's excellent with kids. He's housebroken, neutered,
• 3:51
Speaker 5: and his adoption fee is zero dollars.
• 3:53
Speaker 4: So all he needs is for you to say, yes,
• 3:55
  Speaker 4: he's a great looking dog.
• 3:57
Speaker 2: And what kind of dog is he? Do we know
• 3:58
Speaker 2: because it's a little bit of fur, I mean, so
• 4:01
Speaker 2: what kind of dog?
• 4:01
Speaker 5: Is he, So he is interesting. So his two siblings
• 4:05
Speaker 5: that came to ksey Ha with him, they were just
• 4:09
Speaker 5: like your typical pity presenting dogs and they looked exactly
• 4:14
Speaker 5: like him. Just short here. But this is something interesting
• 4:16
Speaker 5: that I did not know. So pity and bully breeds
• 4:20
Speaker 5: can have a recessive gene that makes their hair long.
• 4:23
Speaker 5: So I did not know that. So I'm learning it
• 4:26
Speaker 5: and I am sharing it.
• 4:27
Speaker 4: Nor did I you learn something new with Angie Gillenwater
• 4:29
Speaker 4: on the not me please pet over the week Sea.
• 4:32
Speaker 4: We'll get back to talking about Filezi here and again.
• 4:34
Speaker 4: Just a great, great looking dog, and you say he's
• 4:36
Speaker 4: got a great personality, good with kids, prefers calmer dogs,
• 4:41
Speaker 4: and at his age, you know, I'm not gonna say
• 4:43
Speaker 4: he's not gonna play. But his pets, either dog's, cats
• 4:45
Speaker 4: or whatever, get older, sometimes they're not as likely to
• 4:48
  Speaker 4: want to play.
• 4:48
Speaker 2: They're kind of over it.
• 4:49
Speaker 4: So if you do have other dogs, probably calmer dogs
• 4:53
  Speaker 4: would be better.
• 4:54
Speaker 2: Do we know about cats?
• 4:56
Speaker 5: So we don't know for sure about cats. The owner
• 4:59
Speaker 5: of Fozzy had cats at one time, but I don't
• 5:02
Speaker 5: know if she had them when she had him. I
• 5:05
Speaker 5: will say his siblings didn't seem to mind cats, so
• 5:08
Speaker 5: it's likely he won't either, But I don't know that perfect.
• 5:10
Speaker 4: All right, well we'll do a test run to find
• 5:12
Speaker 4: out for sure. You guys out and about anywhere this weekend, Angie?
• 5:17
Speaker 5: Yes, So tonight we will be at the Rainbow Pride
• 5:19
Speaker 5: drag race and block party from six pm to eight
• 5:22
Speaker 5: pm with a doctorble pets.
• 5:24
Speaker 2: All right, yeah, what about? So that's tonight?
• 5:26
Speaker 4: Do you do anything tomorrow or into Sunday? Are you're
• 5:28
Speaker 4: resting up a little bit?
• 5:30
Speaker 5: So tomorrow and Sunday we will be taking today off.
• 5:33
Speaker 5: We actually have five hundred and thirty one animals in
• 5:35
Speaker 5: our care right now, so we need all hands on
• 5:38
  Speaker 5: deck for that.
• 5:39
Speaker 4: That's a lot of animals, Angie. Really is how has
• 5:42
Speaker 4: this week been as far as intakes go? I mean,
• 5:44
Speaker 4: is that up from last week? Down from last week?
• 5:46
  Speaker 4: About the same?
• 5:48
  Speaker 5: It's definitely, I would say it's about the same. We're
• 5:51
Speaker 5: in taking roughly and this is an average actually told
• 5:54
Speaker 5: this last night about twenty one animals per day.
• 5:57
Speaker 4: Wow, And are most of the those ones Angie that
• 6:02
Speaker 4: people just drop off or the or the humane officers
• 6:06
Speaker 4: pick up or I mean, how does that work?
• 6:09
  Speaker 6: So?
• 6:09
Speaker 5: Here recently, this week especially, it's been a lot of
• 6:12
Speaker 5: Humane officer drop offs, whether they have been abandoned or
• 6:16
Speaker 5: part of cruelty cases or whatever the situation is. The
• 6:19
Speaker 5: majority of the ones this week have been Humane officer
• 6:22
  Speaker 5: drop offs.
• 6:24
Speaker 3: And my favorite, you can come and adopt a buddy
• 6:27
Speaker 3: for the day, right.
• 6:29
Speaker 5: Yes, absolutely, and Fozzy he has been adopted as you know,
• 6:34
Speaker 5: a temporary foster so many times. You love day trips
• 6:38
Speaker 5: and rides excellent in the car. But yeah, you can
• 6:41
Speaker 5: show up to the shelter pick out a dog. We will,
• 6:44
Speaker 5: you know, get you set up with supplies and you
• 6:46
Speaker 5: can take them for just today. You guys can go
• 6:48
Speaker 5: get pup cups. You can take them to your house
• 6:50
Speaker 5: if you'd like. But yeah, if you just come in
• 6:53
Speaker 5: and tell us you want to do that and we'll
• 6:55
Speaker 5: guide you through the rest of it.
• 6:56
Speaker 4: I love that, I mean yeah, and it's because Angie,
• 7:00
Speaker 4: we talk about it every week. It's like people that
• 7:02
Speaker 4: love animals and they want to be able to help out.
• 7:04
Speaker 4: But sometimes people are in an apartment type setting, maybe
• 7:07
  Speaker 4: they've got an.
• 7:10
Speaker 2: Animal already at home that doesn't like.
• 7:13
Speaker 4: Fellow animals, you know, something like that, And there's so
• 7:16
Speaker 4: many different ways that you can help out that don't
• 7:18
Speaker 4: involve adoption. It could be fostering, it could be obviously
• 7:22
Speaker 4: monetary donations and donations of materials. But also something else
• 7:27
Speaker 4: that we don't talk enough about I think is actually
• 7:29
Speaker 4: coming to the shelter and volunteering to do things there.
• 7:33
Speaker 4: What are some of the volunteer activities at the shelter.
• 7:38
Speaker 5: So at the shelter, when I tell you, if you
• 7:40
Speaker 5: name something that you think can be done, we probably
• 7:43
Speaker 5: need help doing that. So there's your obvious taking care
• 7:46
Speaker 5: of the animals and getting down and dirty. If you
• 7:50
Speaker 5: don't want to get you two hands on with the
• 7:52
Speaker 5: animals or get too dirty for the day, there's always
• 7:55
Speaker 5: you know, dog walking on the property. We also have
• 7:59
Speaker 5: opportunities where you can make treats for the dogs if
• 8:01
Speaker 5: you want to, you can pass them out we have.
• 8:05
Speaker 5: You can volunteer with our adoption staff and greet people
• 8:08
Speaker 5: as they come into the lobby. You know, get to
• 8:11
Speaker 5: see the magical moment when someone says yes to an option.
• 8:14
Speaker 5: You get to like prep them a little goodie back
• 8:16
Speaker 5: to go home. So there are I mean endless opportunities. Also,
• 8:20
Speaker 5: if you are somebody that loves to do laundry and
• 8:22
Speaker 5: fold laundry. I promise you we need your help up there.
• 8:26
Speaker 2: I do love that. There you go.
• 8:29
Speaker 4: I think you just got to volunteer, ANGI through Amy Rain,
• 8:32
  Speaker 4: I think she's volunteering here.
• 8:34
Speaker 5: We will gladly take your laundry help. I promise.
• 8:38
Speaker 4: We got a text here says was the humane officer
• 8:41
Speaker 4: able to locate both of the dogs as someone dump
• 8:43
  Speaker 4: behind Venture Lanes.
• 8:46
Speaker 5: I think that was a situation that occurred last night
• 8:49
Speaker 5: and from what I saw, I'll have to verify this,
• 8:53
Speaker 5: but there were two dogs located and they are both
• 8:55
Speaker 5: at the shelter right now waiting for our admissions team
• 8:58
Speaker 5: to get them back to day to d work all
• 9:00
Speaker 5: that good stuff into a kennel.
• 9:02
Speaker 4: All right, Well, Angie, Oh, I was going to ask you,
• 9:05
Speaker 4: are there any certain supplies that you're in need of
• 9:07
Speaker 4: right now? Because sometimes there's always those constant things that
• 9:10
Speaker 4: you ask for people to donate, but then there's sometimes Okay, Dave,
• 9:13
Speaker 4: we're running low on this this week.
• 9:14
Speaker 2: Is there anything in particular?
• 9:16
Speaker 5: So the Purina chow, products of dry food, any brand
• 9:20
Speaker 5: of wet food, and cat litter are big knees right now,
• 9:24
Speaker 5: as well as gloves, just any type of you know,
• 9:28
Speaker 5: latex cleaning type, gloves of any size, any brand.
• 9:32
Speaker 4: Somebody asked me about this once before. I think it
• 9:35
Speaker 4: was a previous text we had to the show. And
• 9:37
Speaker 4: I know you guys usually on the weekends. You said
• 9:39
Speaker 4: you're going to be at this event tonight, but you
• 9:40
Speaker 4: guys are always out and about somewhere. We want to
• 9:44
Speaker 4: encourage people to that when you are out at these
• 9:46
Speaker 4: events that you know obviously you've got you hopefully you've
• 9:49
Speaker 4: got some helpers with you.
• 9:50
  Speaker 2: Whatever.
• 9:51
Speaker 4: If people want to donate their items and they don't
• 9:53
Speaker 4: have time to go to the shelter or maybe I
• 9:55
Speaker 4: know frequently you guys come over to Puttenham County like
• 9:57
Speaker 4: where I live. You know you could all ways if
• 10:01
Speaker 4: if you hear about it, or if you put a
• 10:03
Speaker 4: post on on on your social media pages, people could
• 10:06
Speaker 4: always show up and donate items at those events. Just
• 10:10
Speaker 4: pull in and say hey, here I've got I've got
• 10:11
Speaker 4: some I got some towels, I got some blankets, I
• 10:13
Speaker 4: got some uh don dish Washington Tergon or whatever. You
• 10:16
Speaker 4: can always accept those at those events.
• 10:18
Speaker 5: Yes, absolutely, if we will, like we will come to you.
• 10:22
Speaker 5: If it's a problem of getting to ksey h. We
• 10:25
Speaker 5: will always pick up items at our you know, events
• 10:28
Speaker 5: that we have if you live a little further out
• 10:30
Speaker 5: and don't have an event upcoming. We also have volunteers
• 10:33
Speaker 5: that transport, which is something I forgot to mention, but
• 10:36
Speaker 5: we have transport volunteers that love to drive places and
• 10:39
  Speaker 5: do things for us. That's a that's.
• 10:42
Speaker 2: A really good that's something that you're right.
• 10:44
Speaker 4: I'm glad you brought that up that we haven't talked
• 10:46
Speaker 4: about in the past because there's a lot of people
• 10:48
Speaker 4: that just like driving, especially maybe and I don't want
• 10:51
Speaker 4: to stereotype, but I know that there's something like, uh,
• 10:53
Speaker 4: maybe it'd be great for maybe some older folks that
• 10:55
Speaker 4: are uh don't that don't have a lot to do,
• 10:58
Speaker 4: and you know, would would like to volunteer to Hey,
• 11:02
Speaker 4: when you take this dog or cat or these dogs
• 11:04
Speaker 4: or cats to this shelter, I mean you could do
• 11:05
Speaker 4: that as a volunteer, right, you could volunteer to drive
• 11:07
Speaker 4: them to a shelter, or volunteer to drive them to anywhere.
• 11:11
Speaker 5: Right, Yes, absolutely so. We partner with local correctional facilities.
• 11:16
Speaker 5: I know a teacher for us. Give a shout out
• 11:20
Speaker 5: to Heather. She drives for us during the summertime, because
• 11:24
Speaker 5: you know, she's not too busy during summer as a teacher.
• 11:27
Speaker 5: She drives to those correctional facilities to drop dogs or
• 11:30
Speaker 5: supplies off. She'll drive to other shelters, She'll drive to events,
• 11:34
Speaker 5: you know, to drive literally everywhere for us.
• 11:37
Speaker 4: Well, now, how would that work as far as like
• 11:39
Speaker 4: insurance or something. Do they have to be a certain
• 11:41
Speaker 4: age if they're technically driving, because I guess they would
• 11:43
Speaker 4: have to drive their own vehicles, right, So.
• 11:46
Speaker 5: There is the driving of their own vehicle. They do
• 11:49
Speaker 5: have to have a valid driver's license, et cetera. There's
• 11:52
Speaker 5: also if there are multiple animals to be hauling you,
• 11:54
Speaker 5: I have to be a trusted volunteer like Heather that
• 11:57
Speaker 5: we've worked with a couple of times, and no is
• 11:59
Speaker 5: not going to drive off with like one of the
• 12:01
Speaker 5: KHA vehicles. But you do have to have a valid
• 12:05
Speaker 5: driver's license for that. And that's that's pretty much where
• 12:09
Speaker 5: we're at with that, all right.
• 12:10
Speaker 4: And Gi Gillen Wakana Charlest new Man Association as always
• 12:13
Speaker 4: appreciate you being here.
• 12:14
Speaker 2: We'll talk to you next week.
• 12:15
Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely, have a good weekend, all right.
• 12:17
Speaker 2: Our adopt me please. Pet of the week.
• 12:19
Speaker 4: Amy is Fozzy, six years old, eighty five pounds, neutered,
• 12:24
Speaker 4: does best with calmer dogs, great with kids and his housebroken.
• 12:28
Speaker 4: He was brought in when his owner had passed away. U.
• 12:32
Speaker 4: And the great thing about it, Amy, he is free
• 12:34
Speaker 4: because his adoption has been sponsored.
• 12:36
  Speaker 3: Oh that's perfect.
• 12:37

Speaker 4: Amy Rain is here live on the Levee, presented by
• 16:52
Speaker 4: Moses Auto Groups night at Handad Riverfront Park in Charleston.
• 16:55
Speaker 4: As I said, Jim Strawn will be there tonight, but
• 16:58
Speaker 4: he's on assignment this morning. Other words, he's on a
• 17:01
Speaker 4: plane coming back to Charleston, unable to join us in
• 17:03
Speaker 4: the JERI Construction studios. But in his place is the
• 17:07
Speaker 4: ever talented, the lovely, the talented Amy Rain.
• 17:10
Speaker 2: Good morning, Amy, Well, good morning, how are you. I'm
• 17:13
Speaker 2: doing fine, all right? So who we got tonight.
• 17:15
Speaker 3: Well, it looks like some amazing bands. I check them
• 17:19
Speaker 3: out on YouTube and really loving them both, especially loving
• 17:24
Speaker 3: the the Jocelyn and the Sweet excuse me, the Sweet
• 17:28
Speaker 3: Compression that will be the opening band at six point thirty,
• 17:33
Speaker 3: and she kind of has like the whole band has
• 17:36
Speaker 3: like this cake funk sound to it. If you're a
• 17:39
  Speaker 3: Cake fan.
• 17:40
Speaker 4: Now, by the way, for older folks, that's Cake the group,
• 17:43
Speaker 4: not Cake the food, right, just so people people know
• 17:46
  Speaker 4: that's and that's how I know I'm getting old because
• 17:48
Speaker 4: Cake the Group has been around for like thirty years
• 17:50
Speaker 4: or more now, and so, oh jeez, yeah, they've been
• 17:54
Speaker 4: around a long time.
• 17:55
  Speaker 2: But there there.
• 17:56
Speaker 4: I guess they're one of those bands Cake was. They're
• 17:58
Speaker 4: one of those bands that had their fans are hardcore devoted.
• 18:02
Speaker 4: I had a buddy of mine that was all about it.
• 18:04
Speaker 4: But then some other people are like, I don't know
• 18:06
Speaker 4: so much. But do you say I haven't had a
• 18:07
Speaker 4: chance to listen to groupsnight you say that Jocelyn and
• 18:10
Speaker 4: the Sweet Compression as the opening act for Fantastic, Oh?
• 18:13
Speaker 3: Absolutely. So they hit the stage at six thirty, and
• 18:17
Speaker 3: then Low Cut Connie hits the stage at eight o'clock excellent,
• 18:21
Speaker 3: excellent rock. He is from Philly or the band I
• 18:26
Speaker 3: guess is from Philly, and NPR described them as masterly
• 18:32
Speaker 3: fluent in the foundational languages of Western pop.
• 18:35
  Speaker 2: Nice. That's a good that's a good description.
• 18:37
Speaker 3: He's friends with Elton John. Elton John has him on
• 18:40
  Speaker 3: his playlist.
• 18:41
Speaker 2: Okay, they can't get better than that, I know.
• 18:44
Speaker 3: So cool. Yeah, So weather, it's going to be fantastic
• 18:49
Speaker 3: once again, amazing weather for tonight. Like you said, hydrate
• 18:52
Speaker 3: because it's going to be warm, so so be warm when.
• 18:54
Speaker 4: It starts at six thirty. But by the time the
• 18:56
Speaker 4: sun starts to set over the Kanal River, it's amy.
• 18:58
Speaker 4: It's actually going to be pretty pretty according to what
• 19:00
Speaker 4: meteorologies Brian Hughes tells us.
• 19:02
Speaker 3: So, oh yeah, yeah, it might be a little chilly
• 19:04
  Speaker 3: for me.
• 19:05
Speaker 2: Okay, it's going to be a great, great night.
• 19:08
Speaker 4: And of course they do a fifty to fifty drawing
• 19:11
Speaker 4: each week to help out local charities and they got
• 19:14
Speaker 4: over the well we got time. Over the years they've
• 19:17
Speaker 4: helped out and they've given hundreds of thousands of dollars
• 19:19
Speaker 4: to organizations all throughout the Canal Valley. But they are
• 19:22
Speaker 4: doing the fifty to fifty tonight, Amy.
• 19:24
Speaker 3: Yes, there it is right there, fifty to fifty raffle
• 19:27
Speaker 3: drawing nine thirty or about nine thirty. Previous twenty one
• 19:30
Speaker 3: seasons plus this year have raised over one hundred and
• 19:33
Speaker 3: thirty thousand dollars for these charities.
• 19:34
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 19:35
Speaker 3: Yeah, that is so awesome. The sponsors should I bring
• 19:37
Speaker 3: those out? Okay, I'm having the Morning Voice this morning, which.
• 19:42
Speaker 2: Is which is well, I guess it happens.
• 19:45
Speaker 4: It's gonna say it's not good for somebody who was
• 19:48
  Speaker 4: a voiceover artist.
• 19:49
Speaker 2: Do you have a lot of work on the schedule today?
• 19:50
  Speaker 11: I do.
• 19:51
Speaker 2: Actually, you'll get through it.
• 19:52
  Speaker 12: I will.
• 19:53
Speaker 3: Yes, this is my warm up.
• 19:54
Speaker 2: So okay, sorry for the warm up.
• 19:55
Speaker 3: A talk about spot Okay, So, first charities our CCRK
• 20:00
Speaker 3: see Sojourners, Shelter in Manamil and Covenant House and the
• 20:03
Speaker 3: major sponsors Brewer and Company, tear it On Corp, Kennel Stone,
• 20:07
Speaker 3: Lou Wendel, Marine, the Health Plan, loved Ones, Poka, Bellley,
• 20:10
Speaker 3: Optimum Cable Services, Jim Strawn and Company, and of course
• 20:14
Speaker 3: w RVC Media and Talk Radio five eighty.
• 20:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, and that would be us.
• 20:18
Speaker 4: And of course there's a you know, the thing about
• 20:21
Speaker 4: the Live on the Levee series is it's gone back
• 20:23
Speaker 4: and forth over the years as far as how they
• 20:25
Speaker 4: do it. You know, they they and it's I want
• 20:27
Speaker 4: to say, it's a work in progress. It's working in progress.
• 20:29
Speaker 4: Has been going on for you know a number of years.
• 20:31
Speaker 4: But sometimes they some summers they've done it every week
• 20:34
Speaker 4: and some summers they you know, have done it just
• 20:36
Speaker 4: you know, on certain fridays in the month and whatever.
• 20:39
Speaker 4: I think, for my money, this seems to be the
• 20:41
Speaker 4: most popular way to doing it because people can count
• 20:44
Speaker 4: on now, they'll they'll tell you a break during regatta,
• 20:46
Speaker 4: of course, but I'm but I mean, and that seems
• 20:47
Speaker 4: to be the more popular way to do it.
• 20:50
Speaker 3: To it every like, yes, it's Friday.
• 20:52
  Speaker 4: It's a it's a good way to put that exclamation
• 20:54
Speaker 4: point on the week too, and especially when the weather
• 20:57
Speaker 4: is as good as what it was last week. I
• 20:59
Speaker 4: think it was picked sure perfect last week. And of
• 21:01
Speaker 4: course last week we had festival going on too and
• 21:04
Speaker 4: the Live on the Leavy was part of that, so
• 21:06
Speaker 4: there were just a vibe in downtown Charleston. Man, there
• 21:08
Speaker 4: were just so many people taking down Live on the
• 21:10
Speaker 4: Levee and festival and so on and so forth, and
• 21:13
Speaker 4: tonight it is going to be hot. We're gonna be
• 21:16
Speaker 4: around ninety you know by the time, probably upper eighties
• 21:19
Speaker 4: and so by the time the show starts. But that's
• 21:21
Speaker 4: why you got plenty of vendors there. And if you
• 21:25
Speaker 4: want if you want an alcoholic drink, if you want
• 21:27
Speaker 4: non alcoholic drink, you've got all that there. And I
• 21:30
Speaker 4: was looking at the list Amy of vendors. If you
• 21:33
Speaker 4: want ice cream, you got it. You want hot dogs,
• 21:36
Speaker 4: you got it. You want tacos, cattle, corn, ice treats.
• 21:39
Speaker 4: It is all there. And if you want to see
• 21:40
Speaker 4: a complete list of all of the vendors, you can
• 21:43
Speaker 4: go to the Live on the Levee facebook page.
• 21:46
Speaker 3: That's perfect. And he has season twenty two on here.
• 21:49
Speaker 3: So it's been going for me too. Yeah, that's pretty cool.
• 21:53
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 21:54
Speaker 3: Yeah, So Jocelyn and the Sweet Compression, Low Cut Connie,
• 21:58
Speaker 3: some funk and then some rock.
• 22:00
Speaker 4: And you know, yesterday Amy, we had on the show
• 22:02
Speaker 4: Tim Brady from the Charleston Convention Visitors Bureau, And I
• 22:05
Speaker 4: mean we are I don't know in Charleston that there's
• 22:08
Speaker 4: never a non busy season, okay, but we're really getting
• 22:11
Speaker 4: into it right now. You know, we didn't foone with
• 22:13
Speaker 4: the dome a couple of weeks ago with Charleston Urban Works,
• 22:15
Speaker 4: which was absolutely fantastic. So we got that taken care of,
• 22:19
Speaker 4: and then we've got the USA Pro Road National Championship
• 22:22
  Speaker 4: Bikes events.
• 22:23
Speaker 3: So excited to see that this year.
• 22:25
Speaker 4: It's coming back here in a couple of weeks. Brady
• 22:27
Speaker 4: was on the show yesterday. They're still looking for volunteers
• 22:30
Speaker 4: for that. That's going to be a major, major deal
• 22:33
Speaker 4: which is going to then lead us into Regatta. And
• 22:36
Speaker 4: there's some killer acts there. Melissa Etheridge playing this year, Winona,
• 22:40
Speaker 4: Bobby Brown, you know, just so Brett Michaels. There's just
• 22:44
Speaker 4: so many people that are going to be a part
• 22:46
Speaker 4: of that. And so this city is about to burst
• 22:48
Speaker 4: at the seams here over the next couple of weeks.
• 22:51
Speaker 3: Always something going on, Always so excited.
• 22:56
Speaker 4: So Live on the Levee is happening tonight, starts of
• 22:58
Speaker 4: six thirty. Well else you got it to from mister
• 23:00
Speaker 4: Seawan and your notes over there.
• 23:02
Speaker 3: Oh let's see. Well, there's a whole bunch of bunch
• 23:04
Speaker 3: of stuff I could tell you about all the band members.
• 23:07
Speaker 3: I do like mentioning all of the band members being
• 23:10
Speaker 3: a band nerd myself, because you know, the lead singer
• 23:14
Speaker 3: is awesome, but you know the band brings it all together.
• 23:17
Speaker 3: So we've got Carter Schofield on guitar, and I'm not
• 23:20
Speaker 3: going to pronounce his name, right, I know, I'm not
• 23:22
  Speaker 3: Tyler Poppier Neck.
• 23:24
Speaker 4: Okay, Poppier Neac Okay Tyler. If you're listening and that's incorrect,
• 23:28
Speaker 4: we'll correct it next week.
• 23:29
Speaker 3: Yes, sorry, Rashaun Fleming on drums and Jacob O'Donnell on
• 23:34
Speaker 3: saxophone and keyboard. Now, he didn't put the band members
• 23:39
Speaker 3: for Low Cut Connie on here.
• 23:40
Speaker 2: Just maybe it's just Low Cut Connie.
• 23:42
Speaker 3: It could be it could be Adam Wiener or Adam Weiner.
• 23:46
Speaker 2: Okay, we were talking about that off the air. Now.
• 23:50
Speaker 4: At one time that was a pretty popular surname where
• 23:52
Speaker 4: I'm from in Logan County and it was winder down there.
• 23:55
Speaker 4: So we can go with either one. But again, if
• 23:56
Speaker 4: it's wrong, we'll correct it the next time. They come
• 23:58
Speaker 4: back to town. All right, Live on the Levee again.
• 24:02
Speaker 4: Moses Auto Group Live on the Levee and they had
• 24:04
Speaker 4: at Riverfront Park. Starts at six thirties night with those
• 24:07
Speaker 4: fantastic bands that Amy Raine just mentioned, and also all
• 24:11
Speaker 4: the vendors are going to be there. There's food of
• 24:13
Speaker 4: all kinds. It's not just food. They got like if
• 24:15
Speaker 4: you bring the kids out there doing face painting and
• 24:17
Speaker 4: things of that nature.
• 24:17
Speaker 3: So ke shirt toss.
• 24:19
Speaker 4: All kinds of cool stuff happening down there, and it
• 24:21
Speaker 4: all starts at six thirty to night. Weather looks like
• 24:23
Speaker 4: it's gonna be a little bit warm, So plan on
• 24:25
Speaker 4: grabbing you a beverage adult or non adult, whatever it
• 24:28
Speaker 4: is that you want, and enjoy some great music tonight,
• 24:31
Speaker 4: Amy Rain, I appreciate you subbing for Jim Strawm.
• 24:33
Speaker 3: This morning, honor to fill in. Thank you so much.
• 24:35

• 28:51
Speaker 11: Good morning man. You had some awesome news I saw recently.
• 28:55
  Speaker 2: I did, I did.
• 28:56
Speaker 11: You've probably talked about in here. All right, by just
• 28:58
Speaker 11: congratulations again, that's great, Well.
• 29:00
  Speaker 2: Thank you.
• 29:00
Speaker 4: I've had I've had two bits of good news here.
• 29:02
  Speaker 4: You know, lately, I got the the I don't I
• 29:05
Speaker 4: don't want. I don't like to use the term cancer
• 29:07
Speaker 4: free because that's kind of a jinx to me, but
• 29:11
  Speaker 4: it's it's been stopped, so let's all.
• 29:13
Speaker 2: I'll put it that way. So yeah, I got that
• 29:15
  Speaker 2: the other day.
• 29:16
Speaker 4: And I've got the news a couple of weeks ago
• 29:18
Speaker 4: that I'm going to be inducted into the West Virginian
• 29:20
Speaker 4: Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
• 29:21
Speaker 2: I saw that as well.
• 29:22
Speaker 11: But both of those are great, and none of you,
• 29:24
  Speaker 11: You're immortalized.
• 29:25
Speaker 4: None of that would be possible without if I did
• 29:27
Speaker 4: not have the support of Deligate jb Acres.
• 29:29
Speaker 11: That's right, man, I'm here for you.
• 29:31
Speaker 2: Nothing else, my security guard. Okay, all right.
• 29:33
Speaker 4: You wanted to talk about data centers a little bit,
• 29:37
Speaker 4: and we've done a lot of that this week on
• 29:39
Speaker 4: the show, and we've presented both sides. As a gentleman
• 29:41
Speaker 4: on a couple of days ago from a group called
• 29:43
  Speaker 4: Putnam United.
• 29:44
Speaker 2: They are strongly against data centers.
• 29:46
Speaker 4: I had Morgan Tending from the Putnam County Development Authority
• 29:49
Speaker 4: on the show yesterday. She was also on the Midday
• 29:51
Speaker 4: show as well, just where are you on data centers?
• 29:57
Speaker 4: And because it seems to me that, just like with
• 30:00
Speaker 4: anything else, whether you're for it or again, it it
• 30:03
Speaker 4: seems like there's always a lot of misinformation out there.
• 30:05
Speaker 11: Yeah, this is one we've talked about a little bit before,
• 30:08
Speaker 11: and you really need a long form podcast to really
• 30:10
Speaker 11: dive into this when it's hard to get this in
• 30:12
Speaker 11: ten fifteen minutes because it's a you know, it can
• 30:14
Speaker 11: be a complicated issue. And also just quickly say like
• 30:17
Speaker 11: this is not the only thing that we're focusing on
• 30:19
Speaker 11: the legislature obviously. A couple of days ago, I was
• 30:22
Speaker 11: at a home in Cable County that provides residential services
• 30:26
Speaker 11: in home services or residential care for kids who are
• 30:29
Speaker 11: an abuse and neglect system. Just going to spend off
• 30:33
Speaker 11: just for thirty seconds on that and just say there
• 30:35
Speaker 11: are lots of important things we got to deal with
• 30:37
Speaker 11: and this abuse and neglect challenge we have with these
• 30:39
Speaker 11: these kids who just want to be loved and taken
• 30:42
Speaker 11: care of and have someone who like you know, they
• 30:45
Speaker 11: know that they're there for them. That is that home
• 30:48
Speaker 11: we went to a couple of days ago. Was a
• 30:49
Speaker 11: really good experience, very sad, but also there's a lot
• 30:51
Speaker 11: of positive it came out of it because the environment
• 30:53
Speaker 11: was just a really nice, really nice environment for those kids. So,
• 30:57
Speaker 11: you know, we could talk about lots of different issues
• 30:59
Speaker 11: and there's lots of things that are priority. So it's
• 31:00
Speaker 11: not just data centers, but data centers are important.
• 31:03
  Speaker 12: Uh.
• 31:03
Speaker 11: And I'll say that when it comes to data center discussion,
• 31:06
Speaker 11: I think you may have some people on the fringes
• 31:08
Speaker 11: on each side of that issue. Like you do almost
• 31:10
Speaker 11: any issue, whether you're talking about you know, guns or
• 31:14
Speaker 11: roads or whatever the political issue may be, there can
• 31:16
Speaker 11: be you know, people on the on the end of
• 31:18
Speaker 11: this of the spectrumer line. You will have some people
• 31:20
Speaker 11: who are saying they're completely against them, some other folks
• 31:24
Speaker 11: who may you be like kind of like, well, let's
• 31:26
Speaker 11: just let them, you know, do whatever they want. We
• 31:28
Speaker 11: trust them to, you know, you know, follow their own path.
• 31:31
Speaker 11: Most of us are going to be somewhere in the
• 31:32
Speaker 11: middle and say hey, we're for them. We may have questions,
• 31:36
Speaker 11: but may be skeptical even, but we got to make
• 31:38
Speaker 11: sure that they're built the right way. So I fall
• 31:41
Speaker 11: in that group, which is I think where most people are,
• 31:43
Speaker 11: and that is if they provide a benefit to our
• 31:46
Speaker 11: local communities and to the state, that I'm absolutely for them.
• 31:49
Speaker 11: But they've got to be built responsibly, uh, And we
• 31:52
Speaker 11: have to know that they are going to come in
• 31:53
Speaker 11: here and be good partners and good neighbors. So as
• 31:55
Speaker 11: long as that's the case, and as long as they
• 31:57
Speaker 11: provide benefits and they're they're u and it's responsibly, then yes,
• 32:01
Speaker 11: I am for them totally.
• 32:03
Speaker 15: And the thing that I think people need to realize
• 32:07
Speaker 15: too is that when you throw out that blanket term
• 32:10
Speaker 15: data center, there are how many different types of data centers.
• 32:13
Speaker 4: And by the way, they're not new. First one was built,
• 32:16
Speaker 4: I believe one of my listeners text me and said,
• 32:19
Speaker 4: nineteen forty five when the first data center was built.
• 32:21
Speaker 11: Yeah, obviously that you know the ones in the forties
• 32:23
Speaker 11: or can be difference in some of the words now,
• 32:25
Speaker 11: but yes, they are not new. And this is something
• 32:27
Speaker 11: I heard again. I don't like the empty chair people,
• 32:30
Speaker 11: but you did have a guy in here, a couple
• 32:31
Speaker 11: of days ago you mentioned and one of the comments
• 32:34
Speaker 11: he made. I was a little bothered by Frankly a
• 32:37
Speaker 11: lot of what he said, and some of it was
• 32:39
Speaker 11: just objectively wrong in information. But one of the things
• 32:41
Speaker 11: he said was, you know, the legislature just came in
• 32:44
Speaker 11: and voted on a bill without understand what it was.
• 32:46
Speaker 11: That's just not true. I mean, I can speak for
• 32:49
Speaker 11: myself personally, I can't speak for everyone else. I knew
• 32:52
Speaker 11: what I was voting on. I did a lot of
• 32:53
Speaker 11: work on it. You know, there's no perfect bill, but
• 32:56
Speaker 11: I thought it was a good bill once we got
• 32:58
Speaker 11: it through and it was passed both chambers and signed
• 33:01
Speaker 11: by the governor. And doesn't mean that maybe we can't
• 33:03
Speaker 11: go back and make it better. But I knew what
• 33:06
Speaker 11: I was voting for. And one of the things I
• 33:07
Speaker 11: looked at was what you said as data centers are
• 33:09
Speaker 11: not new. They've been around now for eighty plus years.
• 33:12
Speaker 11: And you know there there's a handful in West Virginia.
• 33:15
Speaker 11: I've probably said this in your show before. There's one
• 33:18
Speaker 11: in South Charleston that's been there for around twenty years.
• 33:20
Speaker 2: And if you drive, I say, many people driven. I
• 33:22
Speaker 2: don't even know what we.
• 33:23
Speaker 11: Don't know what it is. It makes It makes no
• 33:25
Speaker 11: more noise than any other commercial building that's out there.
• 33:28
Speaker 11: You would not know it's a data center unless I
• 33:30
Speaker 11: pointed to it and told you that's what it was.
• 33:32
Speaker 11: Now again, some of the hyperscaler plans we're seeing now,
• 33:35
Speaker 11: these really large ones, you know, those are are different,
• 33:38
Speaker 11: and you know, we do have to, I think, be
• 33:39
Speaker 11: careful and say, look, if we're going to build something
• 33:41
Speaker 11: of that size and scope, you know, we do have
• 33:44
Speaker 11: to make sure that all the rules and regulations get followed.
• 33:46
Speaker 11: But that's another piece of misinformation. Is and the guy
• 33:49
Speaker 11: you had on here to today, among others, said that
• 33:52
Speaker 11: this house built twenty fourteen, which has become maybe you
• 33:54
Speaker 11: would call it infamous to some extent with people have
• 33:57
Speaker 11: said that that bill makes it so that these data
• 33:59
Speaker 11: centers aren't regular. That's one hundred percent not true. As
• 34:02
Speaker 11: a matter of fact, without twenty fourteen, there are no
• 34:06
Speaker 11: and would have been no regulations specific to data centers.
• 34:09
Speaker 11: They would have been treated like any other commercial or manufacturing,
• 34:12
Speaker 11: you know, facility in the state. So twenty fourteen actually
• 34:15
Speaker 11: does have rules and regulations that wouldn't have existed otherwise.
• 34:17
Speaker 11: And one of the most important ones is that any
• 34:20
Speaker 11: cost for utitally align upgrades, you know, transmissioner and distribution
• 34:24
Speaker 11: network upgrades for electrical use, they may have those, by
• 34:28
Speaker 11: law under twenty fourteen cannot be passed on to rate
• 34:32
Speaker 11: payers in the state of West Virginia. That has to
• 34:33
Speaker 11: be paid for only by the end user who builds
• 34:36
Speaker 11: up facility. That's a protection that wouldn't otherwise exist in law.
• 34:39
Speaker 11: So that's something I think some people have come out
• 34:42
Speaker 11: and said that, you know, twenty fourteen is going to
• 34:44
Speaker 11: create some of these risks that frankly it protects against.
• 34:47
Speaker 11: So you know those protections are built.
• 34:49
Speaker 2: In delgod jb Acres is here.

• 35:05
Speaker 4: Corp dot net helping you understand your environment because what
• 35:07
Speaker 4: you don't know can't hurt you. Tech says, I understand
• 35:10
Speaker 4: the need for data centers if we keep using and
• 35:12
Speaker 4: advancing computer technology. However, the government needs to protect resources,
• 35:16
Speaker 4: especially water, and prioritize the availability and quality of water
• 35:20
Speaker 4: for people citizens over corporate citizens.
• 35:23
  Speaker 11: I couldn't agree more. I mean, that's one of the
• 35:24
Speaker 11: things we have to make sure is that if a
• 35:27
Speaker 11: data center is going to come in and use water resources,
• 35:29
Speaker 11: you know, you don't want to put one where the
• 35:31
Speaker 11: water resources are sparse. And if you have you know,
• 35:33
Speaker 11: farmers or just other residential folks and you're you're going
• 35:36
Speaker 11: to draw a bunch of water from their water table,
• 35:38
Speaker 11: you've got to protect against that. Now, if you're going
• 35:40
Speaker 11: to have one, let meet before I move on. But
• 35:44
Speaker 11: what we see also though, is with the progression of
• 35:47
Speaker 11: these data centers. You probably have talked about how a
• 35:49
Speaker 11: lot of them now are moving to a closed loop system,
• 35:51
Speaker 11: which means they're recycling their water. So a lot of
• 35:54
Speaker 11: the data centers now and I think most, if not all,
• 35:56
Speaker 11: the ones going forward, are going to use these closed
• 35:58
Speaker 11: loop systems, which means they're not drawn in large amounts
• 36:01
Speaker 11: of water, potentially on a daily basis. And these companies
• 36:04
Speaker 11: know they can't keep doing that and the water resources
• 36:06
Speaker 11: may not be out there. So that's one thing I
• 36:08
Speaker 11: think that will provide protection. But also when you look
• 36:11
Speaker 11: at one like the that's going to potentially be in
• 36:13
Speaker 11: Putnam County. We saw the news or released on that
• 36:15
Speaker 11: one the other day, the Google's plans that'll be next
• 36:18
Speaker 11: to the Kanaal River. I'm highly confident that that is
• 36:22
Speaker 11: going to wind up being a closed loop system that
• 36:23
Speaker 11: will probably recycle water. But if it draws water from
• 36:26
Speaker 11: the Kanal River, there will not be any noticeable impact
• 36:30
Speaker 11: on local water at all. And this is an example
• 36:32
Speaker 11: I've given folks. Even if it was one of the
• 36:34
Speaker 11: older traditional data centers that we've heard some of them
• 36:37
Speaker 11: may use up to five million gallons of water a day,
• 36:40
Speaker 11: you don't want that to be out somewhere where there's
• 36:42
Speaker 11: not you know, adequate water supplies. But the Kannal River
• 36:45
Speaker 11: has ten billion gallons of water flow per day, I
• 36:48
Speaker 11: believe is the number. So even if you had, you know,
• 36:52
Speaker 11: a data center that used you know, five million gallons
• 36:54
Speaker 11: a day, that's not going to be an impact on
• 36:56
Speaker 11: the community that the one, the one in Putnam. I
• 36:57
Speaker 11: don't think we'll do that anyway, but those are things
• 37:00
Speaker 11: we have to look at so your texture is correct.
• 37:02
Speaker 11: We got to make sure if they are going to
• 37:03
Speaker 11: use water resources, it has to be in a place
• 37:05
Speaker 11: where the water resources won't be negatively impacted for the
• 37:07
Speaker 11: rest of the community.
• 37:08
Speaker 4: I completely agree, and I think one of the issues
• 37:11
Speaker 4: that we've had, and I've talked to of people on
• 37:13
Speaker 4: Delegate Acres on both sides of the isle on this
• 37:16
Speaker 4: not the aisle, but both sides of the argument, I
• 37:18
Speaker 4: guess I should say, is that this particular area in
• 37:20
Speaker 4: Putnam County, Buffalo, there are people that have property around
• 37:24
Speaker 4: it that are very concerned about it. Simply and as
• 37:26
Speaker 4: you can completely understand that they would have or that
• 37:28
Speaker 4: they would have concerns, especially when you talk about property
• 37:30
Speaker 4: that's been in your family for a number of years.
• 37:34
Speaker 4: It seems to me as a total novice. It is
• 37:37
Speaker 4: in reading and looking at the site that and doing
• 37:41
Speaker 4: some independent research, but also looking at the information that
• 37:44
Speaker 4: they put. One of the arguments against this particular project
• 37:46
Speaker 4: Delegate was that it wasn't transparent.
• 37:49
  Speaker 2: There wasn't enough.
• 37:50
Speaker 4: If you go back and look at that website that
• 37:52
Speaker 4: they launched, I don't know how you can get any
• 37:54
Speaker 4: more transparent than what that is.
• 37:56
Speaker 11: Yeah, I wasn't personally involved at all in the in
• 37:59
Speaker 11: the acquisition of that project. I mean I learned about
• 38:01
Speaker 11: it sort of when the rest of the public did,
• 38:03
Speaker 11: but I think Putnham County officials probably knew earlier than the.
• 38:06
Speaker 2: Rest of us did.
• 38:07
Speaker 11: But transparency is important, though. People have to know what's
• 38:11
Speaker 11: coming in. And I will say there is definitely a
• 38:13
Speaker 11: tension here with regard to whoever sold that property in
• 38:17
Speaker 11: Putnam County, whoever owned it. I mean, it's private property.
• 38:19
Speaker 11: They have a right as long as they check all
• 38:21
Speaker 11: the other boxes, to do with it what they wish.
• 38:23
Speaker 11: They're definitely I can understand if there's folks who live
• 38:25
Speaker 11: around it who like the rural nature of their community.
• 38:28
Speaker 11: I understand some of them saying, hey, look, we may
• 38:30
Speaker 11: not want a big, commercial looking building out here close
• 38:33
Speaker 11: to our home. We like it the way it is.
• 38:35
Speaker 11: I would also say, though, part of that tension is
• 38:38
Speaker 11: we have increasing costs across the board for fire and
• 38:40
Speaker 11: ems services. We all know that local schools are facing
• 38:44
Speaker 11: intense pressures to stay open. We know that our roads
• 38:47
Speaker 11: need to be fixed. I mean I hear about roads
• 38:49
Speaker 11: as much as I do anything else. And there have
• 38:51
Speaker 11: to be the use and neglect system I talked about
• 38:53
Speaker 11: day There just was a significant court ruling in a
• 38:55
Speaker 11: day or two ago where the state potentially faces liability
• 38:58
Speaker 11: in that as well, so more liability than we have.
• 39:01
Speaker 11: We have to have ways to pay for that. And
• 39:03
Speaker 11: that doesn't mean it all cost. I mean, again, this
• 39:04
Speaker 11: has to be done responsibly. But these data centers, and
• 39:07
Speaker 11: I've heard some people criticize and say, well, the counties
• 39:09
Speaker 11: won't get that much money. That's not true. If you
• 39:12
Speaker 11: have a one gigawatt data center, which I think the
• 39:15
Speaker 11: one of Putnam is probably going to be at least
• 39:16
Speaker 11: that big from what I've heard, then you're probably talking
• 39:19
Speaker 11: about the estimates are at least thirty million dollars in
• 39:22
Speaker 11: direct personal property tax revenue for the county. That doesn't
• 39:26
Speaker 11: include all the direct wages. If you have one hundred plus,
• 39:29
Speaker 11: I think they'll probably be closer to two hundred people
• 39:31
Speaker 11: permanent jobs probably working at that. When you're talking about
• 39:34
Speaker 11: millions and millions of dollars of wages for the community.
• 39:36
Speaker 11: You know, Putnham County's annual budget, I don't know what
• 39:38
Speaker 11: it is, but it's probably not thirty million dollars a
• 39:40
Speaker 11: year in all counties as close to sixty million. Putnams
• 39:43
Speaker 11: might be thirty million, but you're talking about, you know,
• 39:46
Speaker 11: in some counties, multiples of what their annual budget is.
• 39:49
Speaker 11: So again, it's got to be done the right way.
• 39:51
Speaker 11: It's got to protect people's interests. But these are things,
• 39:53
Speaker 11: you know, we need economic development of any of whatever
• 39:56
Speaker 11: we can get if it's responsible, and this will do things,
• 40:00
Speaker 11: help fund our emergency services, help pay for our roads,
• 40:02
Speaker 11: help help our schools, and also help keep our younger
• 40:06
Speaker 11: people here because these are these are generational jobs. So
• 40:09
Speaker 11: again I would just say, got to be done right.
• 40:12
Speaker 11: But if they are, they will be beneficial to our community.
• 40:14
Speaker 4: What a couple of weeks ago on Metro News Midday,
• 40:16
Speaker 4: we had an opportunity to speak with someone from the
• 40:18
Speaker 4: Putnam Career and Technical Center and actually he helps out
• 40:22
Speaker 4: with things well beyond the Putnam Career and Technical Center,
• 40:24
Speaker 4: and he's just kind of, you know, talking about we
• 40:27
Speaker 4: have such a struggle to try to keep our younger
• 40:29
Speaker 4: people here all the time. And he talked about the
• 40:32
Speaker 4: programs that they are already looking at, some they already
• 40:35
Speaker 4: have in place that could help with these jobs. Because basically,
• 40:38
Speaker 4: in constructing this thing, it's going to be it's gonna
• 40:40
Speaker 4: be construction, you know, so there's gonna be, you know,
• 40:43
Speaker 4: some things that are basic, but trying to get those
• 40:45
Speaker 4: people to get in on the ground floor and to
• 40:47
Speaker 4: stay in West Virginia.
• 40:48
Speaker 11: That has been one of the most frustrating things I've
• 40:50
Speaker 11: heard is again, there will probably be that will not
• 40:52
Speaker 11: probably there'll be thousands of temporary construction jobs. And some
• 40:55
Speaker 11: people say, well, those will go away and there won't
• 40:56
Speaker 11: be that many jobs when it's over, and I'm I
• 40:59
Speaker 11: would say to them, if you have one hundred to
• 41:01
Speaker 11: two hundred permanent, good paying jobs, and these are good pain,
• 41:05
Speaker 11: they're going to wind up with wages and benefits being
• 41:07
Speaker 11: six figure jobs. Okay, one hundred to two hundred jobs
• 41:10
Speaker 11: is a big deal anywhere in West Virginia. I will
• 41:12
Speaker 11: take that any day of the week. So for folks
• 41:14
Speaker 11: who are like, well, these don't provide that many jobs,
• 41:16
Speaker 11: I think, well, dag one, that is a lot of
• 41:17
Speaker 11: good paying jobs. On top of the fact that it
• 41:20
Speaker 11: also you have this tension to give them the folks
• 41:21
Speaker 11: who may like the more rural aspect of their community.
• 41:24
Speaker 11: If you had a thousand jobs that came in, which
• 41:26
Speaker 11: would obviously be great, but that puts a lot more
• 41:28
Speaker 11: stress on your infrastructure creates a lot more road traffic.
• 41:31
Speaker 11: So there's also a balance here where data centers produce
• 41:34
Speaker 11: a huge amount of personal property tax revenue, they produce
• 41:37
Speaker 11: what I consider it be a very good amount of jobs,
• 41:40
Speaker 11: but also at the same time, maybe not so many
• 41:42
Speaker 11: that they would overwhelm the rural nature of some of
• 41:44
Speaker 11: these community. So I think it's a very good balance here.
• 41:47
Speaker 11: We need these young people to stay here. And I
• 41:48
  Speaker 11: know there's a YouTube video I saw a few days
• 41:51
Speaker 11: ago where there was a guy who has a company
• 41:53
Speaker 11: near Washington, d C. Where it's called Data Center Alley.
• 41:57
Speaker 11: You've probably talked about that before, where there are literally
• 42:00
Speaker 11: hundreds of data centers in that part of Virginia and
• 42:03
Speaker 11: they produce huge amounts of revenue. He owns a company
• 42:05
Speaker 11: that's an electrical contractor and they make components for data centers.
• 42:09
Speaker 11: He employs thirty six hundred people at his facility, which
• 42:12
Speaker 11: it's not a data center, it's an electrical contracting company.
• 42:16
Speaker 11: Those are also spin off jobs and companies that are
• 42:18
Speaker 11: produced as a result of these projects, so it's not
• 42:20
Speaker 11: just the data center. You know, that guy in close
• 42:23
Speaker 11: to DC is a blue collar company owner and he
• 42:27
Speaker 11: employs almost four thousand people just making the parts that
• 42:31
Speaker 11: have to go into the data centers. We can use
• 42:33
Speaker 11: as much of that as possible in West Virginia.
• 42:35
Speaker 4: All right, I'm going to close with this as nothing
• 42:37
Speaker 4: to do specifically what you're talking about. But this is
• 42:40
Speaker 4: a text of the show, and I know you didn't
• 42:41
Speaker 4: send it because because I'm watching your hands here the
• 42:45
Speaker 4: sheer common sense being spoken here. Have you ever thought
• 42:47
Speaker 4: about possibly running for governor one day? Please consider it?
• 42:51
Speaker 11: For now, I can't even be the governor of my
• 42:54
Speaker 11: house state so anyway, but we have a good person
• 42:57
Speaker 11: in charge of the house. I appreciate that texts is
• 42:59
Speaker 11: very complimentary. Thank you whoever sent it. I just I'll
• 43:02
Speaker 11: tell you this. I love to have conversations with people,
• 43:04
Speaker 11: I think, and when you sit down face to face
• 43:05
Speaker 11: like this, it is the best way to talk about
• 43:07
Speaker 11: these ideas, and we need to do more of it.
• 43:09
Speaker 4: All right now, look at Jvacre's always a pleasure. Dave
• 43:11
Speaker 4: on the show Man, thanks a lot.

• 46:35
Speaker 4: see like a symphony or an orchestra plane with you know,
• 46:40
Speaker 4: with a like a rock band or cuts shuffs with her.
• 46:43

Speaker 18: This actually Sunday wraps up our two twenty five twenty
• 47:00
Speaker 18: six season. We're going to be over at the Lawn
• 47:02
Speaker 18: in the University of Charleston starting at two o'clock and
• 47:05
Speaker 18: we're going to be hosting Avan Corpse Symphony Sunday, which
• 47:07
Speaker 18: is my favorite event of the year.
• 47:09
Speaker 3: It is a free event. It is totally free.
• 47:11
Speaker 18: We'll have being music from community groups on the stage
• 47:15
Speaker 18: throughout the day, starting at two. We're having food vendors
• 47:18
Speaker 18: Ellen Saint George's cbobs, which are some of my absolute favorites,
• 47:21
Speaker 18: hot dogs, popcorn, finnel cakes, beer and wine if you
• 47:25
Speaker 18: so choose to enjoyed that as well. And we'll be
• 47:29
Speaker 18: wrapping the evening with the symphony concert that'll start at
• 47:32
Speaker 18: eight o'clock that night, and then fireworks over the river.
• 47:34
Speaker 18: So it's really a great way to kick off summer.
• 47:37
Speaker 18: It's our gift to the community and a great way
• 47:39
Speaker 18: to enjoy some free music on a beautiful Sunday.
• 47:41
Speaker 4: What I mean, I know that you had some of
• 47:44
Speaker 4: the vendors you mentioned a couple, but that's one of
• 47:46
Speaker 4: the cool things about this is that it's you know
• 47:49
Speaker 4: that it's an opportunity. You're outdoors for people to get
• 47:51
Speaker 4: them walk around, visit some of the some of the
• 47:53
Speaker 4: vent people can even bring stuff in.
• 47:55
Speaker 18: Oh yeah, well, so we really encourage everyone to bring
• 47:58
Speaker 18: your chair, bring up blanket, you bring a cooler. But again,
• 48:01
Speaker 18: it is a free event. We really encourage you to
• 48:04
Speaker 18: visit some of our vendors that day.
• 48:05

• 48:07
Speaker 18: famous kabobs Ellen's ice cream. We've got our friends for
• 48:11
Speaker 18: the Dunbar's Lion Club who will be doing final cakes
• 48:13
Speaker 18: and snow cones. We'll be having a lethor of beer
• 48:16
Speaker 18: and wine selections, our famous Symphony Sunday Lemonade, which is
• 48:20
Speaker 18: always a special tree to enjoy too.
• 48:22
Speaker 2: They'll we have a couple of different.
• 48:24
Speaker 18: Artisans they're selling their wares, lots.
• 48:26
Speaker 3: Of stuff for the kids going on that day too.
• 48:28
Speaker 18: We've got craps, we've got some face painting, long games
• 48:31
Speaker 18: for them to do too throughout the day, and then
• 48:33
  Speaker 18: really highlight.
• 48:34
Speaker 3: Of the evening that orchestra concert that starts at eight o'clock.
• 48:37
Speaker 18: The theme this weekend is SUSA, an American Celebration, so
• 48:40
Speaker 18: we're going to be really kicking into all of the
• 48:43
Speaker 18: festivities that are about to happen over the next couple
• 48:45
Speaker 18: of months. And just enjoy some American music on Sunday
• 48:50
  Speaker 18: Fantastic and.
• 48:51
Speaker 4: Tell the people where they can learn more about you
• 48:53
Speaker 4: about the event, this or anything going on with the Symphony.
• 48:55
Speaker 18: Always visit Wbsymphony dot org and we have the full
• 48:58
Speaker 18: schedule for this weekend, including the entertainment schedule, a list
• 49:01
Speaker 18: of vendors that are going to be available, and then
• 49:03
Speaker 18: you can always tune into our website and all of
• 49:05
Speaker 18: our social medias for everything we've got coming up to
• 49:07
Speaker 18: We've had an amazing twenty six to twenty seven schedule
• 49:09
Speaker 18: coming out, including Home Alone and concert which we'll be here,
• 49:13
Speaker 18: a big, big, big, big screen movie Orchestra playing in December.
• 49:18
Speaker 4: So we got a lot of hold on now and
• 49:21
Speaker 4: then we'll have you on plenty of times because now
• 49:22
Speaker 4: and talk about so you're going to have the motion picture.
• 49:25
Speaker 18: Yeah, So this is that we've been I've been on
• 49:27
Speaker 18: a couple of times this season. We've been teasing a
• 49:29
Speaker 18: few things that we've been really looking forward to, and
• 49:32
Speaker 18: this is one of the things that we've been having
• 49:34
Speaker 18: people ask for a while. The orchestra has done several
• 49:36
Speaker 18: movie concerts where we play the full feature film in
• 49:39
Speaker 18: the orchestra plays the score below it the share We're
• 49:42
Speaker 18: doing Home Alone in December, right before Christmas. So it's
• 49:45
Speaker 18: something that's been asked for forever, forever, forever. We are
• 49:49
Speaker 18: finally doing it this year, and that is just one
• 49:52
Speaker 18: of the highlights of our many for our twenty six
• 49:54
Speaker 18: twenty seven I have.
• 49:55
Speaker 2: A suggestion for you.
• 49:56
Speaker 4: Could you have the orchestra play while you have the
• 49:59
Speaker 4: three Stooges playing in the background.
• 50:00
Speaker 3: That's a possibility. We've also talked to day Bugs Bunny oh.
• 50:04
Speaker 4: Well before in the show and if I know anything
• 50:06
Speaker 4: in all about classical music or operates, because I've learned
• 50:09
Speaker 4: about watching Bugs Bunny as a kid exactly well.
• 50:11
Speaker 18: And these are such of the amazing ways for us
• 50:15
Speaker 18: to take a very high quality quality orchestra excuse me,
• 50:19
Speaker 18: and mesh them in with the community and really bring
• 50:21
  Speaker 18: everybody together.
• 50:22
Speaker 3: Sunday is a great way to do that too.
• 50:24
Speaker 18: We're gonna have a fantastic orchestra concert as well as
• 50:26
Speaker 18: community bands throughout the Kanaw Valley being featured. And look,
• 50:32
Speaker 18: it's what we love to do with the orchestra is
• 50:34
Speaker 18: to make great music for everybody in the state, whether
• 50:38
Speaker 18: that be classical music, some pops music, or music from
• 50:41
Speaker 18: the score of Home alone.
• 50:42
Speaker 4: I had a text and said, our large umbrellas like
• 50:45
Speaker 4: patio size allowed if you bring kids, they.
• 50:48
Speaker 18: Are we encourage a shade you can set up your umbrella,
• 50:51
Speaker 18: start to get two o'clock throughout the day and really
• 50:54
Speaker 18: stay there and enjoy throughout the evening. We encourage people
• 50:56
Speaker 18: to pop in and out. So if you had no
• 50:58
Speaker 18: community member that's gonna be playing early in the morning
• 51:00
Speaker 18: and you want to come back and take a break
• 51:02
Speaker 18: from the sun and then come back with the orchestra
• 51:03
Speaker 18: event in the evening, we encourage you to do that too. Again,
• 51:06
  Speaker 18: it's a completely free event. It's a very open event
• 51:09
Speaker 18: and we want the community feel welcome. I've at the
• 51:12
Speaker 18: a lot of uc. University of Charleston is such an
• 51:14
Speaker 18: amazing partner. They've been helping us do this year after
• 51:17
Speaker 18: year after year, and we are really excited to host this.
• 51:19
Speaker 2: Yeares again too, Marandon McDonald, westt GI Symphony appreciate you
• 51:22
  Speaker 2: being here.

• 51:38
Speaker 4: with snack food items for union mission. You want to
• 51:40
