- 2:17two weeks. The original date of today's program is October twenty ninth of nineteen
- 2:24fifty and the title It's Snow use The Adventures of the Saint starring Vincent Price.

- 3:14how comes transcribed to radio, starring Hollywood's brilliant and talented actor Vincent Price as
- 3:21the Saint Snows Sports who likes ski trains. I'd rather have an old fashioned
- 3:34mountains I should have stood he No. On the other hand, drabs not
- 3:38Hello? Heat next to you? Isn't I admire intelligent women. Sit down,
- 3:44Hi, but I'm not intelligent. Oh you're being modest, I am
- 3:47not. I'm sorry. You are beautiful, though, I bet you say
- 3:52that to all the beautiful girls you meet. Do you like to ski?
- 3:54No? Why are you on the ski train? Because of the telegram you
- 3:59sent me? Then you are Simon Tempter. I kind of thought you looked
- 4:02like one. Thank you. Your telegram sounded desperate. What do you want
- 4:08me to do a very small thing? Yes? I like you to be
- 4:12my host? What are you married? So well? But nobody will mind
- 4:15if you're my husband? And nobody will mind. Look, Peggy, I
- 4:18said, only for a while. None of my husbands was ever able to
- 4:23say I stayed my welcome, none of your, Peggy. How many husbands
- 4:27have you had? I have a terrible memory. I do remember a Smith
- 4:31and a Joe, so of course they're easy. Name. Yeah, Look,
- 4:34and may I ask you why you want me to be your husband?
- 4:38So nobody will murder me? If Charlie thinks I'm married to the saint.
- 4:45He'll think twice before beating my brains out, which would be the neatest trick
- 4:47of the year, he said, on account of I don't have any brains.
- 4:50I'm calling Charles. Who is Charlie? He's in the car of a
- 4:54head with the blind Oh he's a friend of yours. Oh. No,
- 4:58he used to be my last husband. I mean he was my husband live.
- 5:01I think I understand. And why should he want to kill you?
- 5:04Alimony did you get from him? It doesn't seem much of a motive.
- 5:10It's a lot of alimony. Also, he doesn't like my following him around.
- 5:14You follow him around? Why to make sure Vicky doesn't kill him?
- 5:17VICKI that's a blonde. She married Charlie, asked me. And she wants
- 5:23to kill him. Well, who wouldn't side She doesn't even like him.
- 5:27But she's crazy about money and if she kills him, she'll get all the
- 5:30money and I won't get any alimony. So I know, a girl isn't
- 5:34supposed to be forward, and that's Amanda be her husband anyway, not the
- 5:39first time they meet. After all, this is a matter of a life
- 5:43and death. So so Simon will you be Yeah, snow Valley out we
- 6:03go. Oh time and look all the tactic has the slaves, so they
- 6:10are I'm right in. Oh, thank you, thank you well too.
- 6:16We're going to uh to the snow Talp Hotel, snow Top Hotel. Keep.
- 6:39It's a nice lobby. I'd better go register in. Look, Peggy,
- 6:46let's pretend we're not married. I mean, let's not pretend we're married
- 6:50to the hotel clerk. I'd never marry a hotel clerk, Peggy. I
- 6:55didn't either, Never. Charlie and Vicky must have gone upstairs already, you
- 6:59think if they were on a honeymoon. Finish, I'm going to register.
- 7:04I'll get separate rooms for Oh but Simon, is that friendly? It's practical.
- 7:10Excuse me, oh my gort you okay, at least you're coming to.
- 7:15What you're doing is sculpting like anything, even snow man. I'm sculpting,
- 7:20but for right now, I'm making a bust wiki what anybody can see
- 7:25A Vicky, you'll be busy all winter. I'm having not the studio in
- 7:30the woods. You wishing I make you a bust. Also, I'm going
- 7:34to be too busy sculptured. Oh Peggy, don't saying that all my life.
- 7:41I'm dying for you. You're not fine ready, byoch you're laughing,
- 7:47laughing, that's what? Oh well, I think about it. What's to
- 7:50think, Peggy, is necessary to leave? I'm married again? Now,
- 8:00same of Simon minding the husband. The husbands might be minding you. Oh
- 8:05mind, beautiful what I'm doing with mine, chisel. It's not the business
- 8:09of any Charlie doesn't mind your Scott making a pause, Wicky, No,
- 8:16she's not so beautiful like you. Also, I'm not admiring this Childie calling
- 8:22I go, But mine heart stays with you. You better live here.
- 8:26Somebody might step on it. Oh hag, who was that? Oh that
- 8:31was I don't believe it. Well, it happens in Bulgary all the time.
- 8:35That's where he comes from. He's got a studio out in the woods
- 8:39and he's making a bus to Bickie. He tries to do that with all
- 8:41of Charlie's why I never heard of him before, you must have. He's
- 8:45a very famous chiselam Peggy. I've got us a couple of rooms. Yours
- 8:50is two eighteen. We can pretend we're married for your husband's former benefit.
- 8:54The Kirk will show you up to your room in a minute. What are
- 8:58you going to do? I'm going to fry in the bar and drink myself
- 9:01to death. To sixteen to seventeen. Ah, here we are to a
- 9:15thing. Thanks which room to the Thompson's room right next to yours. Man,
- 9:22if you need any thanks, You're very welcome coming Simon, Simon.
- 9:35Where are you are you behind a door? Heggy? Heggy? Heggy?
- 9:54What are you doing on the floor? It was an earthquake and the hotel
- 10:00sells down and hit me on the head and I'm good. Come on now,
- 10:03let me help you up. I'll put you on the couch and now
- 10:11you can go right back and get my head. You're left and on the
- 10:15floor. Your heads where it belongs. It seems to be a little too
- 10:20much of it though. It's where the hotel. But this isn't the earthquake
- 10:24season. What happened, Well, somebody knocked at the door just after I
- 10:28got here. It would be about an hour ago. Go on, I
- 10:30stuck my head. I didn't see him. If you want a booming back,
- 10:35I might enjoy it. But Diggy, do you have anything worth stealing?
- 10:39Simon? You can believe me. Who steals my purse steals trash m
- 10:43Besides, your purse wasn't stolen, it's right here on the table. Strange.
- 10:48I'm hungry, Simon. I think getting hit on the head my uptock,
- 10:50it may not be good for your head, especially if the next time
- 10:54you get hit a little harder. How does your head feel now? Like
- 11:09its beginning to belong to me? Eat the more misteaks, Simon, are
- 11:13you trying to sat in the of course, not speak the top off me.
- 11:16He's a sculpture, you know, but he's crazy about my figure.
- 11:20It's all mine and he is married to look neither am I. You don't
- 11:24have to shout. Even though I did throw myself at your head, it
- 11:28doesn't mean I have to have a figure like a flowers. I didn't sing,
- 11:35Simon, this is papa. No, No, I tell you that's
- 11:41debatable. Oh I'm beautiful. This one sounds like her husband? Well,
- 11:46yes, his a husband. His name is Simon, your husband. No,
- 11:50don't apologizing. Also, it's not necessarily standing. I'm being courteous and
- 11:54I'm not inviting you to sit down. This is a way to treat great
- 11:58sculpture like are you are the Michelangelo. Right now, there's one thing you
- 12:03unquestionably have in common with Michelangela genius. Your fingernails. I am insult all
- 12:13sides. Week is coming in weeky? Oh, Vicky? Yes, so
- 12:16she is? Where's her husband? He doesn't coming? We why not?
- 12:20Who cares? Maybe perhaps she's suffering from dispepsik. She really love to see
- 12:26a man suffering from dispepsi something eat, no doubt you're know she's coming,
- 12:35my love. We've been waiting long and who with this lovely man? Of
- 12:39these lovely people you're with? Well, she is Peggy, he's her husband.
- 12:45How do you do? My name is Temperance. I'm Vicky Tompson.
- 12:48You lost something? Haven't you done? Your husband? What are you?
- 12:54I've seen you someplace before? Huh? Where in Charlie's photogram? Have the
- 13:00album? You're not? I am Darling Charlie's former wife, and I know
- 13:07all about the Long Winter Evenings from Charlie shows his photograph album to his wife's
- 13:11age. I don't think we'd better bother these nice people any long. And
- 13:16let's go have had dinner. But have you seen Charlie Moore? I see
- 13:20we're come along, say confidential. I do not understanding wiki. Oh why
- 13:24not? She's worrying about her husband. Ridiculous, I'm seeing you sooner?
- 13:30Not if I'm seeing you sooner? Did you know, Sticky, Yes,
- 13:37she does that to people. What I meant was she turned tail as soon
- 13:39as I mentioned Charlie to us. So she did, which reminds me.
- 13:43Where is Charlie? Oh so pretty? A very high type snow of course,
- 14:00none of my farmer husbands ever took me for a walk on my honeymoon.
- 14:03I don't find good. It's funny Charlie didn't show up all through dinner,
- 14:07Simon, Yeah, would you mind not discussing other people? Let's discuss
- 14:13all. Hey, what happened to that snowman? Snowman? Oh, he
- 14:20must have melted. He was right there on the side of the road.
- 14:22He didn't melt taky because it gets cold or not warm in the night time.
- 14:26I wouldn't say that. Take e still, Hu, The snow is
- 14:31completely flat where the snowman wasn't sleigh Mark's right next to the spot. I'm
- 14:37cold, silent. Why are you more interested in that snowman than you are
- 14:41me? Tho? He had a kind face. Hey, let's go back
- 14:46to the hotel and get warm. I'm going back to Mago. I'll take
- 15:03care. Oh, Simon, I want to make sure nobody hits you on
- 15:07the head again. Oh, but before I do. You know, I'm
- 15:11a little worried about Charlie. Uh oh, clerk, yes, sir,
- 15:16have you seen mister Thompson around, mister Thompson. Oh yes, oh no,
- 15:20oh, yes, I don't know what. I was merely remarking that
- 15:22I know who mister Thompson is and I have not seen him around. As
- 15:26a matter of fact, missus Thompson was asking about him too. I see,
- 15:28thank you. The things seem to be disappearing around here. The snowman,
- 15:37Charlie Thompson, thank you. We're not going on stairs. We're going
- 15:39out again to look for Charlie. No, the snowman, Simon, and
- 15:52the resemblance between me and Eskimo is no coincidence. S w I'm freezing.
- 15:58There's been all we're all looking for that fine thing. It's only a little
- 16:02more ground to cover. We've working our way round to the back of the
- 16:04hotel. I know, but but Tim, I'm finding a snowman in the
- 16:08middle of all the snow It's like looking for a needle in a haystack.
- 16:12The difficulty of that has always been overrated. There's an easy way of finding
- 16:17a needle in a haystag. How we just sit down on a haystack.
- 16:21That's the what I just said, Sid, It was a joke. Yeah,
- 16:26let's keep the conversation on a higher level. Sad straight ahead, middle
- 16:33trees there is. It doesn't seem to have been damaged much. She's frozen
- 16:41silent. We're about one hundred yards in the hotel, and she'd have a
- 16:47wood pile here, which is just what we need. Some nice dry wood.
- 16:52I mean a nice hot bath as good as wood burns. I'm gonna
- 16:56build a fire. Oh, I appreciate your worrying about being sided one motel.
- 17:00I'm not building the fire for one TI. I'm building it because I
- 17:03want to give that snowman a hot foot, Simon, that's a very pretty
- 17:21fab Why do you keep staring at that snowman? Oh, I'm waiting for
- 17:26its mail. Now. That isn't a nice thing to do to take his
- 17:29look? Wait, begin the mails already. Oh yeah, yeah, now
- 17:37we know why the snowman was smooved, don't you jolly. He was getting
- 17:45a snoop simon. He he's very dead. Somebody beat his head in.
- 18:04Sheriff will be over a little while, Peggy, as soon as he gets
- 18:07these gloshes on. I hate to think of Charlie lying out there in the
- 18:11snow. He was never not going. Man, Peggy, maybe you better
- 18:17run upstairs to your ro It's just that I wanted to get over the Sagate
- 18:21studio before the sheriff gets there. Do you think killed Charlie and put him
- 18:26in the snowman, It's possible. Charlie's death makes Vicky a very rich widow
- 18:30who Surgay might approve of that? And that Peggy wife's places at her husband's
- 18:37sign. That looks still. We'd not a word, and I'll now you're
- 18:41right out here in the lobby. Never mind, let's go get ourselves a
- 18:45sleigh. This here's the studio, folks. Oh, Piggy, why don't
- 19:03you stay out here in the sleag You don't think all your sculptures have seen
- 19:07inside him? No, but he might be dangerous. I'm coming with you.
- 19:11You don't mind if I come too? A little dark out here?
- 19:14Oh no, we'd love having come on, Okay, oh, the studio
- 19:18looks like Yeah, the Prince of Graustock should be inside, but it won't
- 19:23be. Let the windows three fourths cover to a snow. You ain't answering
- 19:33too quick. Uh huh, the doors open, Come on, we're so
- 19:38dark. Wait a minute, find the knights, say what's going on here?
- 19:48All right? Hey that's my sleigh. That was your sleigh man?
- 19:56All right, now what are we gonna do? Now we'll phone the phone.
- 20:00Anyone see one o. They don't have lines strung out in east Wood,
- 20:03And well that's fine. Look what I foun huh oh, it's a
- 20:10wallet, not much help, no identification in it, Simon, is the
- 20:15kind Charlie always carried with lots and lots of money. And that's what is
- 20:19empty now. It could just as well be carry's a purse, Simon.
- 20:25Now you mentioned that Charlie's wallet was missing. When we found it, an't
- 20:27miss anymore. I wonder if any spare socks they're gonna turn out. Charlie
- 20:34Thompson was wearing one red sock and one green one. Somebody may have walked
- 20:38off with a mate to one of them. Well, come on, everybody,
- 20:42let's start walking. It's gonna take us about a week to walk back
- 20:45to the hotel. Snow's kind of teep out there and may not be back
- 20:49for hours a month, Simon. A couple of pairs of seas in the
- 20:53corner of the door. They're very decorative. People go from place to place
- 20:59on ski. Sure, sure people who can ski. I almost read a
- 21:03book, Simeon. They said, skiing is really very simple. It did.
- 21:07Don't look at me. I ain't getting on them, wouldn't get trap
- 21:11All right, you stay here, we're sending for you. You mind,
- 21:14don't mind at all. You know, I'll help you get those skis trapped
- 21:18on. I hope it's downhill all the way. Simon, you're such a
- 21:36liar. You ski beautifully, Yo, this is wonderful dry. Yeah,
- 21:41as long as you stay on your feet hungry. Well, when we get
- 21:45back to sown and I like what a swalami sandwich? Keggy. People get
- 21:51shot for jokes like shot from the pump of trees down the slope. Do
- 22:00you know what bad little boys do? I think we can get under the
- 22:03smoke here, get to some rocks next, now ball with rock. Yeah,
- 22:10he can't get us. Let he gets a lot closer I can't see
- 22:14what it is. You have to come out into the open. Okay,
- 22:18I've got one ready, all right, now he's moving out. Here goes
- 22:26Simon. You hit him for the next you hit him again? Oh,
- 22:32Sime, no, I know how it go to you. Gosh. I'm
- 22:48so glad to get back to the hotel. Oh, mister Templar, Oh
- 22:52right, yeah. The sheriff said he wanted to see you as soon as
- 22:53you came in. He's in the manager's office to your left. Thank you.
- 22:57Would you send someone out to mister top Off studio has left the slave
- 23:02drivers standard. I'll take care of it, sir. Thanks Simon. Do
- 23:06you know who killed Charlie and Charlotte? Well, I'm not sure, but
- 23:08I think it isn't going to take much longer to find out. Hello,
- 23:15Sheriff, I'm Simon Templar. I know, mister Templar the same. This
- 23:19is a great pleasure. Thank you. And this is Peggy Smith, Jones
- 23:23and so forth. Glad to meet you. My name's Hudson. That statement
- 23:27from mister Thompson the scupper fellow, mister Templar, I thought you might have
- 23:32something dead, Yes I have. It might be better if you got them
- 23:34in here, though, and we cleaned up the whole thing at once.
- 23:37Hold right in the next room, Hold on, would you mind stepping in
- 23:42here? Books? I am disgusting. This is the way to spending maybe
- 23:49several long Yes. When your husband arrived at the hotel, what was the
- 23:53first thing he did? Well, he said he was going to take a
- 23:56shower. I let him upstairs. I see, excuse me a desk,
- 24:03Oh, clerk, will you get me a sprig of holly with berries on
- 24:07it? I noticed the Floria shop in the lobby. No, I know
- 24:11it isn't Christmas yet. No, it's not for a gag. It's for
- 24:17a noose. Confidential, everybody, this Simon, he's crazy for miss I
- 24:30kiss the girl under a missiletoe, No difference. Oh, come in here
- 24:37you are, mister temper. Oh thank you. Would you please hand me
- 24:40that vase on the table, sir, thank you again? Very nice?
- 24:48The berries are green? Now? Why hello, just a minute, Peggy.
- 24:53Look, when a man wants a sprig of Hollywood berries, he wants
- 24:56red berries. Now you go right out and get me what I I want.
- 25:00I'm sorry about the berries being green. I guess they aren't right yet.
- 25:04I'll go right now. Oh no, excuse my boss. You broke
- 25:11the ball. It's also breaking the head the clerky. I just wanted to
- 25:15make sure he wouldn't try playing games with his gun. Share of done.
- 25:19Yes, Peggy, the one he tried to kill us with. But if
- 25:22he was the one, he must have been the one killed Thompson. He
- 25:26is, but I don't what reason would he have to kill John. I
- 25:30think he'll tell us to be with us again. Good evening, I hope
- 25:36you slept well. You listen, Thank you, Shriff. Charlie Thompson was
- 25:41killed in his shower. Then he was dressed, dragged out of the hotel,
- 25:45and planted inside the snowman. That's why you moved the snowman, Wasn't
- 25:49it so that you wouldn't have to carry the body so great a distance.
- 25:52I never touched Charlie Thompson, and I know you did, Templar. Thompson's
- 25:57corpse was wearing one red sock and one green. It meant whoever had dressed
- 26:02him was color blind. Yes, said in the business with the Holly proved
- 26:06that the dairies were really red. But when I told our friend here that
- 26:08they were GREENY had to take my word for it. He couldn't tell the
- 26:11difference. Why why did you gievil man? Simon? He must have been
- 26:17the one who had hiped me over the head in my room. M h
- 26:18that's why I knew missus Thompson hadn't killed her husband. What do you mean
- 26:22you wouldn't have had to hit Peggy over the head and in order to get
- 26:26into your husband's room. And I couldn't suspect mister popa. Why not?
- 26:30Some of my best friends are suspecting me because you would never have left Thompson's
- 26:34empty wallet in your own studio. It was the clerk Peggy, and I
- 26:37surprised planting it there after. Of course he had taken all the money out
- 26:41of it. But that's why Thompson was killed, mister poppa. He always
- 26:45carried lots and lots of money in his wallet. If Peggy supplied that information.
- 26:49You mean this clerky tried to frame me, so I am looking like
- 26:52a murderer that he did. What a while the men who tried to choosel
- 26:57on a chiseler? Real long? Oh there we are, Simon. Did
- 27:15you know that some people Benno skies there must be a moral in that rumba.
- 27:22I'm immoral, Simon, We're not really married, but you could kiss
- 27:30me. M M nice Simon. You've been listening to another transcribed adventure of
- 27:48the Saint the robin Hood of Modern Crime. Now here's our star, Ladies
- 27:52and gentlemen. This is Vincent Price inviting you to join us again next week
- 27:56at the same time for another exciting adventure of the good Night Then. Script
- 28:11was written by Lewis Viddie. This is NBC the National Broadcasting cover Welcome back.
- 28:22It might seem to some listeners that we've had color blindness as a clue
- 28:26used before, and of course they're correct, back in The Colorblind Killer,
- 28:32which we've heard only a few months ago. But keep in mind that at
- 28:37the time of the airing of today's episode, it had been more than three
- 28:41years since The color Blind Killer aired and over another network, so the cleary
- 28:48use was not a big deal at all. I like this one a lot
- 28:52of very clever and witty wordplay, and Vincent Price clearly back after six weeks
- 29:00absence and not missing a beat at all. So outstanding to have Vincent Price
- 29:06back. For listener comments, we have this from Bobby Lee, who says
- 29:10I liked Barry as Simon definitely. He was definitely a fine actor. Thanks
- 29:17so much for your comment, Bobby, and that'll actually be it for today.
- 29:19We will be back tomorrow with Crime and Peter Chambers, and then join
- 29:26us again next Monday for another episode of The Saint. And remember to support
- 29:30our listener support campaign support dot Great Attractives dog net. Among the thank you
