- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:41Hi, Adam here. And you're about to listen to a
- 0:44hypnotherapy session all about self-discipline and personal
- 0:49responsibility. And I was working with a
- 0:53particular client that had got into this recurring state of
- 0:58apathy and procrastination. And what that meant for them is
- 1:03that they didn't really feel like doing too much.
- 1:06And the consequence of not doing too much is that they weren't
- 1:09getting dopamine from accomplishment and from
- 1:13achieving particular things or learning new things.
- 1:16Actually, they were getting their dopamine from very easy
- 1:20accessible dopamine like online videos and things like that.
- 1:25And what that doesn't do is teach someone to have discipline
- 1:29and personal responsibility because the dopamine comes too
- 1:33easily. So if you are listening to this
- 1:36and you've got a bit of a doom scrolling addiction or sometimes
- 1:40you have this kind of overall feeling of what's the point?
- 1:43I can't really be asked to do that thing that I think you will
- 1:46get some value from this session because in essence it can
- 1:50activate the part within you that can become more
- 1:54disciplined. And I think an excellent
- 1:56metaphor for discipline is a muscle.
- 2:00Because if you went to the gym and you wanted to be stronger
- 2:03and you went straight to their heavy heavyweights, you wouldn't
- 2:06be able to lift them at all, which means you're not getting
- 2:09any value. And if you did the lightest
- 2:12possible weights, then you might think there's something being
- 2:16accomplished, but it's not actually going to make you any
- 2:18stronger because there's no resistance.
- 2:21So the optimal level of things to do that build an element of
- 2:26discipline are things just beyond your comfort zone, things
- 2:29that are difficult but doable. And if you get that habit of
- 2:33doing difficult but doable things, whether you feel like it
- 2:37or not, then your personal levels of self-discipline can
- 2:40just go through the roof. And I would say it is one of the
- 2:44key USPS to differentiate individuals.
- 2:48Generally in society. The people that have more
- 2:51self-discipline and more personal responsibility get
- 2:54rewarded with more opportunities and they are favoured by
- 3:00different organizations. That could be a client
- 3:03outsourcing something to you. It could be a corporate entity
- 3:08that wants to give you more responsibility.
- 3:10But when you build up personal responsibility, other people
- 3:13have credibility in your ability to do what you say you're going
- 3:18to do. And there's lots of people that
- 3:20just don't project that particular element.
- 3:23They've got so much apathy and and so much of no personal
- 3:28responsibility that people don't want to offer them opportunities
- 3:33because they don't think they're going to do anything with it
- 3:36anyway. So if you want to, let's say,
- 3:39build the muscle of self-discipline for you and you
- 3:42want to increase feelings of self and personal
- 3:47responsibility, then I think you'll get some value from this
- 3:50session. It was created for an individual
- 3:52though, so some of the suggestions might be perfect for
- 3:54them and not quite right for you.
- 3:56And if you like this kind of stuff, particularly things.
- 3:59That relate to. Success and productivity.
- 4:02Then I actually have a membership called the Hypnotist
- 4:05Secret Circle, and in the Hypnotist Secret Circle there is
- 4:08a whole section of about 100 different downloads, all about
- 4:12success, productivity and achievement accomplishments.
- 4:16So if you like this kind of stuff, there's lots more of that
- 4:19and you can find that link in the descripcion.
- 4:22For now though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 4:25won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 5:16Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 5:25resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 5:30And as you exhale, feel a wonderful sense that you're
- 5:36releasing any frustrations blocks.
- 5:42Just allow it to leave your body in that outward breath.
- 5:51Scan your body for any clues of tension, maybe around your jaw,
- 5:56your neck or your shoulders, and feel that tension start to melt
- 6:05away. Breathing in resource for
- 6:09relaxation and exhaling that tension, that stress, that worry
- 6:17in your outward breath. And as your body relaxes more,
- 6:25your imagination begins to open. And I want you to imagine
- 6:33entering a place where clarity, strength, and a feeling of
- 6:43discipline becomes easier to access.
- 6:50And maybe you could imagine A room, a room just within your
- 6:57imagination. And in this space, you begin to
- 7:04connect with a deeper part of yourself.
- 7:12And maybe this part already knows what it means to be
- 7:18disciplined, the part within you that wants to be stronger and
- 7:26more responsible, more reliable, to feel powerful.
- 7:40I want you to get a sense of that deeper Part of you has been
- 7:48looking for an opportunity to be challenged to get stronger.
- 8:04I want you to think about what it would take to be stronger in
- 8:10anything. To be physically stronger means
- 8:18something needs to be difficult, to encounter resistance, to feel
- 8:28outside of that comfort zone, and to allow your physical body
- 8:35to adapt and to heal. Strength physically comes from
- 8:47the difficulty, comes from the challenge.
- 8:53And I want you to get a sense then that part within you is
- 9:02feeling like discipline and personal responsibility is a
- 9:08weak muscle that desires to be stronger.
- 9:12And in the in the past where you've avoided responsibility,
- 9:23you found yourself becoming weaker, which then just leads to
- 9:29even more avoidance. But what if that circle and
- 9:34cycle can be reversed? The moment that you feel with
- 9:48100% conviction that you are responsible for your life, a
- 10:01breakthrough is made. The realization that
- 10:06responsibility is not a burden but a gift.
- 10:16And the moment that penny drops is the real moment that a child
- 10:25becomes an adult, a boy becomes a man, because childhood is the
- 10:34time where you're not responsible.
- 10:39Those responsibilities are held by someone else.
- 10:44But as you get older, you take more and more of those
- 10:51responsibilities, the responsibility to be clean, to
- 10:57eat, to study your work, each time becoming stronger and
- 11:06stronger. Doing what's easy can make you
- 11:17weaker, and doing what's difficult can make you stronger.
- 11:24But what if more and more you find it easier and easier to
- 11:29delay what's easy or pleasurable?
- 11:36Because doing the difficult thing becomes rewarding in and
- 11:41of itself. Maybe you could enjoy the quiet
- 11:47satisfaction of doing what needs to be done, especially when no
- 11:54one is watching. What if that becomes the
- 11:59benchmark of someone who leads themselves?
- 12:03And what if that's someone is you?
- 12:10I want you to access that powerful part within you that
- 12:13rises to challenges. That part that relishes the
- 12:20difficult, challenging thing that once the tight deadlines,
- 12:28once the difficult problems. That part that says I've got
- 12:33this when things do get tough. A part of you that enjoys
- 12:41proving quietly and confidently as to what you are capable of.
- 12:51There are some people waiting for motivation to appear to them
- 12:55like a genie from a bottle, and others that seize the day, take
- 13:03the bull by the horns, those that act because that's what
- 13:11they want to do. And of course, life will throw
- 13:16you distractions and resistance, friction and hurdles.
- 13:23But what if they become a chance to refocus, to recommit, to
- 13:30strengthen your resolve, to raise your standards?
- 13:38What if every time you did something that needed to be done
- 13:43that was difficult or challenging felt like lifting a
- 13:46weight, where the muscle of discipline grows stronger each
- 13:52time? And it's OK to feel that quiet
- 13:58confidence when you honour your responsibilities.
- 14:05Leaders take their responsibilities more.
- 14:13Isn't that more empowering than shirking whatever
- 14:16responsibilities you already have?
- 14:24I want you to feel that it's safe to be in control of your
- 14:26choices, because with that safety comes strength.
- 14:38I want you to think of even small responsibilities that you
- 14:45can take. Attendance, hygiene.
- 14:56Maybe you've made a promise to someone, and you're now going to
- 15:00honor that promise. Maybe you're going to raise your
- 15:05standard in an area of your life, knowing that higher
- 15:10standards mean more responsibilities, and more
- 15:15responsibilities are an opportunity to get even
- 15:18stronger. Every time you hold yourself
- 15:24accountable, you step further into the life you were meant to
- 15:29lead. And what if you were no longer
- 15:34procrastinating because the decisive action feels natural
- 15:42and satisfying? All of that frustration or even
- 15:49desperation can be replaced with a sense of pride, momentum, and
- 15:53accomplishment. You choose structure over chaos,
- 16:01clarity over confusion. But most importantly, you choose
- 16:07action over avoidance. And that part within you?
- 16:15A wise and trusted part enjoys being responsible and wants that
- 16:25responsibility. And maybe that's the part that
- 16:30knows how strong. You are capable.
- 16:35Of becoming a part within that trusts you and the more you
- 16:43honour your priorities, the more deeply you trust yourself.
- 16:49And that trust changes everything.
- 16:54Even a problem or a set back becomes fuel for growth because
- 17:01you take responsibility. You either win or you learn, but
- 17:08either way you adapt and you move forward.
- 17:13I want you to get a sense of what it would be to
- 17:17incrementally increase your discipline, your personal
- 17:21responsibility. If you wanted to get strong, you
- 17:27wouldn't go to a gym and lift a very heavyweight.
- 17:32You would lift a weight that feels difficult but doable,
- 17:39challenging yet achievable. And these are the exact
- 17:45responsibilities to look for in life.
- 17:49Challenging yet achievable, difficult yet doable.
- 17:57And when you do the difficult thing, it becomes less
- 18:00difficult, which will mean that you will need to look for new
- 18:06difficult things each time with the knowledge that you are
- 18:10getting stronger and stronger. And what if this starts now?
- 18:21Today I want you to think of an easy win, Something that is
- 18:33doable and not that challenging, but would still represent
- 18:38progress compared to what you have been doing.
- 18:45That isn't the end of the race. It's the beginning, the warm up,
- 18:52the stretching before you do something more challenging.
- 18:59And I want you to set yourself the challenge of doing perhaps
- 19:06three things today that you've been avoiding or putting off,
- 19:12and just imagine what it would look like and feel like to do
- 19:15those three things. Where would you need to be?
- 19:21What would you need to do? What resources would you need to
- 19:25do it? And just play it out in your
- 19:28mind these three different things that you've been
- 19:32avoiding, procrastinating, or delaying.
- 19:39Consider this priming. Priming your mind to prepare and
- 19:45then do those things. Not impossible things, but not
- 19:51easy things. Easier.
- 19:54I want you to get a sense that you are doing something that
- 19:58perhaps is only difficult because you've delayed it, but
- 20:03then doing that thing means it's easier the next time.
- 20:12And if it's possible for you to increase attendance, increase
- 20:20work ethic or concentration or focus, then prove that to
- 20:27yourself by finding something that needs you to be present,
- 20:33you to be focused, or you to be hard working or diligent in some
- 20:39way. You are awakening that part, the
- 20:47part that knows that if it's going to be, then it's up to me.
- 20:56A mantra you can tell yourself. So you take ownership of
- 21:02decisions, actions and intentions.
- 21:09And I want you to feel that when muscles get stronger, you take
- 21:13pride in using them and you want to make them even stronger than
- 21:17before. And to make your muscle of
- 21:23discipline or personal responsibility or diligence
- 21:26stronger, it means doing things you don't normally do in a
- 21:35consistent, conscious, deliberate way.
- 21:42That's how those muscles get stronger.
- 21:47It's time to leave this place, this place, this room in your
- 21:51imagination and return to the present.
- 21:53But take this feeling of desire, the desire to be more
- 21:59responsible, to take more responsibility, and to harness
- 22:06the growing muscle of discipline to take those responsibilities.
- 22:13So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 22:19nose. Wiggle your fingers and wiggle
- 22:22your toes. Connect and calibrate into the
- 22:24here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken
- 22:30you. Starting to count 123 waking up
- 22:36456 more alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 22:39Open your eyes 910. Wide awake.
- 22:43Wide awake. Wide awake.
